Gotas De Lluvia Research Paper
Gotas de Lluvia can be translated to raindrops in Spanish. That is what we named our city. It is located
in Rio de Janeiro, with a population of approximately 6.45 million people living there. Rio was
founded in 1565 and is now 651 years old. The climate for Gotas de Lluvia is warm, around 40
degrees Celsius. It can get pretty wet around December and January. Some natural features of Gotas
de Lluvia are rivers, rainforest, mountains, and coastline. The economy is slightly poor, but growing.
The tourism for Gotas De Lluvia will be big businesses and industries.
There are many different types of infrastructures in Gotas de Lluvia. This consists of housing,
transportation, energy, pollution, education and others. The housing includes several neighborhoods
and apartment buildings plus the Torneo de Reni. Transportation incorporates buses, cars, and bikes.
Some energy types we use are going to be using are hydropower, solar power, and wind turbines.
There will not be a lot of pollution because of many renewable resources we are using. There are
several schools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gotas de Lluvia has acres of apartments and houses, but a lotgreat deal of people were homeless so we
added this apartment building so some more homeless people have a place to go. Also, it can help us
attract people to Gotas de Lluvia who wanted to move there when there was no affordable living
space. We also made a theme park because Gotas de Lluvia has a load of water and oceans and kids
usually love that. The park will be a place for families and tourists to go and spend time together. It
will draw the attention people who are visiting Gotas de Lluvia and looking for things to do. They will
see a theme park and probably want to go there. Gotas de Lluvia will be better looking now that we
got rid of the old things that were just lying around collecting dust. By fixing them up it makes Gotas
de Lluvia look a ton nicer than

Introduction/thesis statements:
Global Political Economy is essentially a study of a political battle between the winners and losers of
global economic exchange. In fact, understanding global economy relies on a clear knowledge of the
process of political competition. Political power possessed by actors regulates economic activity and
in turn this creates the basis for and affects political power. Through, critical analysis of the concept of
global political economy it becomes clear that there are three prominent theories that form GPE,
mercantilism, economic liberalism and Marxism.
At this point in time, the main actors in the international system are nation states seeking an agenda of
their own based on personal gain and national interest. Significantly, the most important actor is the
United States, a liberal international economy, appointed its power after the interwar period becoming
the dominant economy and in turn attained the position of hegemonic stability in the international
system. The reason why the United States is dominating is imbedded in their intrinsic desire to
continuously strive for their own national interest both political and economic. Further, there are other
nature of actors that are not just nation states, including non states or transnational,

Essay about Involuntary manslaughter problem question
Jane and Steve have been married for five years. Steve lost his job a year ago and has been unable to
find employment since then. Jane is a successful hairdresser. Steve has lost his self confidence and has
become so depressed that his doctor has placed him on medication. One evening Jane arrives home at
midnight and Steve instantly accuses her of having an affair. Jane denies it, laughs and says, it would
serve you right if I were, you ve become the most boring man I have ever known Steve falls into a
depressed state again and goes to sleep that night by himself in the spare room. Two nights later Jane
is again very late arriving home. Steve asks for an explanation but Jane just laughs at him and tells
him not to be so jealous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is defined as an Abnormality of mind . Abnormality of mind can arise from three areas, a condition
of arrested or retarded development of mind, any inherent causes or induced by disease or injury . In
this case it could be argued that Steve was suffering from paranoia in the he instantly accuses Jane of
having an affair or depression as he was placed on medication by his doctor. These are both inherent
causes, Anthony Martin. It could also be argued that the defendant was provoked. Provocation exists
at common law but is also contained under section three of the Homicide Act 1957. To establish
provocation the jury must be able to find the person charged was provoked by things said or done or to
a sudden loss of self control enough to make a reasonable man do as he did. In this case the things said
or done were Jane laughing and taunting the defendant, also the fact that she said it would serve him
right if she had an affair as he was the most boring man she d ever known. This may be considered as
cumulative provocation which the jury may consider Humphreys 1995. The test for loss of self control
stems from Duffy, there was a sudden loss of self control as Steve immediately flew into a rage and it
was sudden as there was no cooling off period as in the case of Ibrams and Gregory. The case of DPP
v Camplin stated that the question is not whether a reasonable man in similar circumstances would be
provoked to lose his

Whenever his army marched into a land, it was not just an army of warriors; he brought an entourage
of scholars to spread the culture as well. Interspersed within the fighting battalions were architects,
philosophers, scribes, musicians, and educators whose whole duty was to spread the culture to those
who were conquered. Some of these strategies were the establishment of Greek cities, Greek schools
(Gymnasia), and commanding the Greek language as the official language for government and the de
facto language for commerce. Many people began to give their children Greek names, and local styles
of art and architecture began to imitate Greek models. Even some of the Jewish High Priests took
Greek names. All of this was not a good turn of events for Israel since the Greek culture was very
ungodly and humanistic. Despite the bright and promising future ahead of him, Alexander met an
unexpected death in Babylon at the age of 32 and though one will like to believe that all that he stood
for will now be in vain, the case was not so but rather what he initiated had only just begun. After the
death of Alexander his field marshals struggled for dominion of the lands they had conquered.

After the death of Alexander was the appointment of his successor Ptolemy (one of Alexander
commanders), germinating conflict between four emerging generals.[7]

Hunting And Feasting
In order to protect vital food sources, past heritages, traditions, and cultural values for future
generations, the government should not ban the practice of hunting wild animals. Author Jacqueline
Thursby argues, in her article Hunting and Feasting in Utah and Idaho that this region is rugged
country; it is no easy task, even today, to make a living there, and wild game continues to serve as a
mainstay for some families (103). Most urban families take for granted the accessibility of the
supermarket; a convenience that is hardly used for these communities in Utah and Idaho, mostly
thriving off of what the earth provides for them. Banning the right to hunt in this region would be
similar to closing down all providers of food in big cities,

Electoral College Advantages
The Electoral College, used to elect presidential candidates in the United States, has degenerated into
an ineffective and inefficient system. Although the Electoral College had never been implemented
before, the Founding Fathers nevertheless built America with this election structure, to not only
experiment with this new technique but to hopefully find a solution to an election process that they
expected would shortly involve millions of citizens. The Electoral College does include several
beneficial advantages to the American election process, but for the most part, the Electoral College is
a dysfunctional election method. The disproportionate distribution of electoral votes throughout the
country demonstrates the Electoral College s ineffectiveness. Voters in smaller states have far more
electors per capita than do voters in big states. For example, we look at states such as Wyoming. This
state has a population of 584 thousand. It is the least populated state in America. Only 284 thousand of
these citizens are registered to vote. Wyoming is allocated three electors for the Electoral College, for
its two senators and one lonely house representative. This gives the state of Wyoming one elector for
every 95 thousand voters: a miniscule amount compared to other states. Then we examine a state like
Florida, one of the largest populated states. Florida has 19.9 million citizens, and is allocated 29
electoral votes. The number of registered voters in Florida totals

Abstract The information I used in my body of work for my research is focusing on introducing
augmented reality (AR) to all types of audience. This new technology is approaching people in many
different ways and I emphasized on some of these topics. In spite the fact that augmented reality is a
wide topic with a very vast information, I ll explain augmented reality from my point of view and a
brief history of this booming technology. Moreover, the research will mention some technical data of
augmented reality. Finally, at the end of this paper there is a rich content focusing on using the
augmented reality in education.
The Whole Story behind Augmented Reality
A brief on Augmented Reality We may define Augmented Reality (AR) as a real time direct or indirect
feed of a physical real world environment that has been augmented enhanced by connecting a virtual
artificial intelligence to it. This technology aims to simply the user s life by conducting an amount of
virtual information not only directly to his environment, but also to any non immediate view of the
real world. (D. W. F Poelman, 2010)

Changes Associated With Left Ventricular Hypertrophy With...
Electrocardiographic changes can include left ventricular hypertrophy with repolarisation changes
with T wave inversion and deep Q waves. In family members carrying HCM gene mutations, the
electrocardiogram may demonstrate only minor abnormalities. The presence of non sustained
ventricular tachycardia, a risk factor for sudden death, should be tested for by means of Holter
monitoring (Maron et al., 2003). At present, the diagnosis of HCM relies on echocardiography
revealing symmetric or asymmetric hypertrophy. Secondary causes of hypertrophy, including valvular
disease or systemic hypertension, should be excluded. 2D imaging of the left ventricle by
echocardiography can confirm the diagnosis in affected patients. The ejection fraction, a measure of
left ventricular systolic function, is typically preserved but there is usually evidence of diastolic
dysfunction. These can be measured by tissue Doppler ultrasonography, which can show diastolic
dysfunction before the development of hypertrophy (Maron, 2002). Histologically, HCM is
characterized by cardiac myocyte disarray and fibrosis. Myocyte death and myocardial scarring may
be present and coronary arteries may have thickened walls. This pathology can promote ventricular
tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation (Maron, 2002). More recently, echocardiographic techniques
have been developed to refine diagnosis (and risk stratification) e.g. Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI)
(Nunez J et al 2004) and Doppler 2D Strain velocities

Comparing Confucius And Siddhartha Gautama
Whether rich or poor, leaders have the power to change the world as long as they have the passion to
do so. Confucius and Siddhartha Gautama were both influential guiders whose ideas contrasted and
overlapped. They transformed and modified the way certain people live and prospect things.
Confucius s train of thoughts were necessary to end the boundless hostility and warfare around him,
while the Buddha sought enlightenment and the elimination of suffering.
Confucius s ideology included the belief that people behave exceptionally because it s in their spirit to
do so. Incredibly, with the cruel, bloody wars surrounding him, he was able to have this set of mind.
He desperately looked for ways to bring structure to deal with those devastating times. Education and
intelligence bring people together and he believed that everyone should have the opportunity to learn.
From then on, a person s position in the social hierarchy hinged on their education, rather than their
birth. Being raised in a violent society, he sought peace and enlightenment. His empowering thoughts
punched brutal wars right out of the way. While Confucius was raised in struggling times, the Buddha

Longhorn Steakhouse History
LongHorn Steakhouse
It all started with a man by the name of George McKerrow Jr, who had a passion for delicious steaks.
Luckily he had a snowstorm hit his hometown in Atlanta, Georgia that brought stranded motorist into
the only hospitable place available a restaurant called LongHorn Steaks Restaurant Saloon. The tales
of the expertly grilled steak was spread like a wildfire throughout the towns. This was the beginning
of a new chain restaurant called LongHorn Steakhouse, which is known for their Flo s Filet and the
Bone In Outlaw, fall of the bone ribs, and hand cut salmon. In later years, LongHorn eventually joined
Darden Restaurants with Olive Garden and Red Lobster. With a location in Mechanicsburg,
Pennsylvania, it is one of many steakhouses that you can choose from. It is a well organized restaurant
that has been serving steak, chicken, and fish for 30 years where the meat is never frozen. In addition
to that, it is the only steakhouse that catches the eyes of the customer, usually from the dark red lights
that light up during the night. The restaurant is opened Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00
PM and Friday to Saturday 11:00 to 11:00 PM.
As we walk through the double doors of the entrance, we are warmly greeted right away by the
LongHorn Staff, who are dressed in black tops and blue jeans. We had dinner at Longhorn after
discovering a 30 minute wait at our first restaurant choice. The wait at Longhorn was only about 15
minutes, which was not bad for a

10 Pet Rules

But as every great pet owner knows preventing the bad things from happening is easier said than

Keeping your pets safe while you are away from home can be an extremely challenging matter. If you
have never experienced life with a pet in your home, you need to know that PETS HAVE NEEDS:
 They need your Home Pet Proof so they don t get hurt

As long as you are consistent and provide leadership, your pet will adjust. Here are 10 THINGS TO
BE as you start the bonding process that establishes your lifelong relationship with your pet.
 BE SMART: It s very important for your dog to be wearing an ID tag from the first day he is at your
home. Before you bring your new dog or puppy home, have the tag ready for him. If you haven t
chosen a name for your dog yet, just put your address and phone number on it.
 BE KIND: Your pup will probably need to go to the bathroom soon after he arrives. It would be a
good idea to take him outside before he begins to explore your home. Praise him when he goes.
 BE QUIET: Your puppy will do better if your house is quiet. Loud noises may scare him. Later,
when he is used to your house, you can introduce new sounds slowly.
 BE BRIEF: Holding your puppy is important so he learns to love you, but on the first day, hold him
only a few minutes at a time.
 BE THERE: Give your new dog time to explore your house, but don t leave him alone. You can
stand behind him and follow him to the places he wants to go.
 BE FUN: Have a couple of toys ready for your dog to play with. He may not want to play the first
day, but they will be there if he does.
 BE COURTEOUS: Have a place for your dog to sleep. A crate

The Australian Government s Action Under The Asiatic Act
I have been asked to advise Summer Rayne whether (1) the Australian government would be able to
stop him from helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by his boat s action under the ASIATIC Act, (2)
the government would be able to forfeit his speedboats under the ASIATIC Act without returning it
back to him, (3) any sales and purchase of the T shirts would be legal, and (4) overall he would have
any chances of challenging the Act.
It appears that although there are some invalid provisions sections 4(4) (5) and section 5(4) of the Act,
the Act is overall valid to stop him from any actions helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by
severing the invalid portion of the Act.

It appears that sections 2, 3 and 4(1) (3) may be supported by the Defence Power, under section

prevent the recurrence of the anti social behaviour (s 2(iii)), and associated the purposes (s 2(iv)).

Research Paper first draft
16th Nov 2011
In a Dark Night, I Find My Answers. The two poems Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening and
Acquainted with the Night written by Robert Frost are very similar to each other because of the
simplistic form of language used and the uses of metaphors. When we first read the poem, it looks like
an ordinary poem but once we go in depth and understand the meaning, it becomes so much more.
Both of the poem has a very dark, gloomy and lonely setting with a really mysterious tone. There are
different metaphors used in each poem to symbolize death; Sleep in Stopping By Woods on a Snowy

I have walked out in rain and back in rain. from Acquainted with the Night shows the depression of
the character because most of us relate to rain as an emotional moment and makes us feel vulnerable.
When it rains, the whole atmosphere becomes very gloomy and sad, and the author is trying to express
the characters sadness.
The character in Stopping by Woods in a Snowy Evening is a very old fashioned person because he is
with a horse and rides his horse through the woods. My little horse must think it queer. To stop
without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake shows how even his horse is surprised
to be stopping in the middle of the woods where there is no livelihood. It is very unusual even for the
horse to stop at this hour of the night because they should be trying to get home as soon as possible
since it is already dark. He gives his harness bells a shake. To ask if there is some mistake. express
how the horse is also very attentive about what is going on around him and his master s unusual
behavior. The horse tries to confirm with the character whether or not they have stopped in the right
place.
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet. When far away an interrupted cry. Came over houses
from another street. But not to call me back or say good bye, from Acquainted With the Night shows

Mrs Dalloway Bipolar Disorder Essay
A superficial interpretation might claim that the conspicuous fluctuating of feelings in Mrs. Dalloway
indicates bipolar disorder, especially since the most extreme example of this condition is warren smith
the shell shocked world war I veteran whose insanity, disastrous search for medical treatment,
eventual suicide occupy part of the novel.
Once Woolf chose to combine the two separate stories, with the loss of unity this would imply, she
must dramatize the split in structure and make a virtue out of it. The contrast between the minds of
Clarissa and Septimus is but one way; another is the split within the characters themselves. Septimus
is a schizophrenic, in the common (although not the medical) view, a split personality; and he
alternates between normal and abnormal behavior. Clarissa is divided in another way; she is born
under Gemini, the sign of the twins, indicated by Woolf s mention that she had just broken into her
fifty second year With this Gemini or twin motif, Woolf was able to accomplish several things:

youth and human potential. Elizabeth Dalloway and the young Septimus Smith both demonstrate the

According to Anyakoha (1991), information technology is the use of man made tools for the
collection, generation, communication, recording, re management and exploitation of information. It
includes those applications and commodities, by which information is transferred, recorded, edited,
stored, manipulated or disseminated . Hawkridge (1983) describes information technology as a
revolution which has penetrated almost all fields of human activity, thus transforming economic and
social life. UNDP (2001) asserts that even if sustainable economic growth facilitates the creation and
diffusion of useful innovations, technology is not only the result of growth but can be used to support
growth and development. ICTs are credited with the ability to transform, and deep and significant
changes are expected from their widespread use in Africa. From this stand point Africans can take
maximum advantage of the new technologies even if major challenges remain. These challenges
include adapting ICTs to local conditions and uses in developing countries, and allowing each country
understand those innovations and adjust them to their own development needs. Therefore,
development in Nigeria depends on the country s capacity to create

Starting At An Early Age It Became Apparent To Me That
Starting at an early age it became apparent to me that others around me seemed to be very self
centered. I grew up in a relatively poor family in Oregon that did what they could to care for my two
brothers and myself, but there were serious issues present in my family that would tear it apart. My
father was an alcoholic and would often be abusive to my mother when he drank; this started early on
in their relationship before I was born. Among alcohol problems, my father also had dealings with
various illicit substances. This eventually accumulated in my mother having an emotional breakdown
and deciding to leave for New York with a man that she had developed a relationship with online. She

These times were not extremely pleasant as my father continued to abuse my eldest brother and
eventually it started to transfer to my other brother and myself; however, we made the most of what
we had at the time. There were some good memories of the ranch we lived on; what child does not
enjoy living near so many animals. I remember quite well that we did not have a vehicle at this time
and we would go out every couple of weeks and walk several miles to the grocery store so that we
could backpack what we had bought back. This doesn t sound pleasant but it was actually one of the
better experiences during this time period. My father taught us that you do not need a vehicle to
survive and that there many people out there in the same situation. Once our stay had worn out at the
ranch we moved to an adjacent city to try and find another place to stay. This did not work out in the
beginning and we ended up staying a one room motel for the next month or so while my father
attempted to find employment. During this time, I met a man that still sticks in my memories to this
day. He was the principal of the school that I was attending at the time and helped our family on

Arguments In Favor Of Immigration Reform
I would like to formally state how I deeply disagree on how you would carry out your immigration
reform if you do end up winning the presidency. On your campaign website, you claim that you will
build a wall across the southern border, round up all those who had entered illegally, and you will
make Mexico pay for the building of the wall. These ideas of yours are inhumane and goes against
what the U.S. government stands for. The better alternative is we can give them a six month period,
like Ben Carson said, for them to register for citizenship. Those six months would give them time to
register for citizenship, get a job, and show that they have not caused any harm to this country.

Trump, claim that the U.S has become a dumping ground for people s problem, but Mexicans do not
come to this country to cause mayhem. According to the Japan times, the country poverty rate had
increased to 46.2 percent since last year, 2 million more joins that ranking, from 45.5 percent in 2012.
As previously stated, Mexicans do not come to this country to cause mayhem, but they come to this
country because they must. They must give a better opportunity for their family to survive. When
Mexicans come to this country, they take jobs that Americans are not willing to take. Though those
jobs do not offer them much, they do offer them enough to put a a roof their heads, food on the table,
and clothes on their back.
So by rounding those who entered illegally and their U.S. born children, you are sending them back to
a country that continuous to struggle greatly and to the poverty they were incredibly trying to escape.
Please Mr. Trump, reconsider your plans of building the wall, and sending them back to a place of
poverty, and Mexico paying for the contrsuction of the wall with the money they are not able to

Sexual Equality For Women In The 1920 s
Track is more complex than just running to see who has the fastest time, throwing the farthest, or
jumping the highest. Track is about overcoming physical obstacles that challenge you, which mentally
makes one stronger. The 1920 s was a time of rising sports popularity which ultimately resulted in
sexual equality for women. Track contributed to these improvements by including women in sports,
exposing positive physical features of women, and set higher expectations for females other than
cooking and cleaning .
Women had to face many difficulties that held them back in various categories in the 1900 s, whether
it was education, getting a job, or owning property. When the 1920 s arrived there were several new
opportunities that helped women prosper, even though it wasn t simple. In 1920 women were allowed
to vote which was a crucial and ground breaking event that finally became reality. Some may think
about track as just a sport and contemplate heavily on how it could possibly have positive
contributions to the female position, but it does. 1Up until the 1920 s most sports track exclusively
consisted of males, males were considered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Arguments About The Abortion Controversy
There is probably still last one thing in the world which racism might be acceptable or very least
tolerated and it s comedy.
Think about the following two jokes:
1) Why aren t Jews concerned about the abortion controversy? Because they don t consider a fetus
viable until after it graduates from medical school.
2) Why is there no Mexican Olympics? Because everyone who can run, jump, or swim is already
across the border.
Do you find these two jokes funny, or do you think it is not ethical? Controversies about ethics of
racial humor have been argued for a long time. Race can be the most polarizing subjects in comedy.

Parent Child Relationships In King Lear
At the core heart of King Lear, we get to see the relationship between father and child. The double plot
of King Lear consists of parallel stories of two hapless old fathers and of their children. Regan and
Goneril speaks eloquently about the vastness of the love that they hold for their father, though they are
speaking falsely, each attempting to appear the most loving and as a result they gain more territory. On
the other hand Cordelia refuses to stoop to such pandering stating instead she shows her love through
her deeds and which does not possess the oily, flattering ways of her sisters. The major characters
involved in parent/child relationships in King Lear are King Lear and his three daughters, Regan,
Goneril, and Cordelia (the true and the faithful one), and the other Gloucester and his two sons, Edgar
(the legitimate son) and Edmund (the illegitimate son). The octogenarian Lear proposes ... Show more

Catcher In The Rye Phoniness Analysis
Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye
While phoniness and loss of innocence are unavoidable parts of life, Holden Caulfield, in The Catcher
in the Rye, cannot seem to accept it which leads him to depression and mental instability. Holden is
easily aggravated by any impression of phoniness and he realizes that all adults exhibit pretentious
qualities. As a result, he tries to protect all children, the only innocent beings in his life, from being
exposed to phoniness. However, growing up and losing innocence are not preventable, thus causing
him to exhaust himself through his useless efforts. Holden s dislike towards phoniness and hypocrisy
in the adult world leads him to try and protect the innocence in younger generations and ultimately
leaves him disappointed in his inevitable failure to do so. Holden often addresses his hostility toward
phoniness in the adult world because he does not understand why adults find the need to misrepresent
themselves or their feelings. At his old school, Elkton Hills, he observed that the headmaster went
around shaking hands with everybody s parents [...] except if some boy had little old funny looking
parents (17). He could not tolerate seeing people act this way and left the school. However, he is faced
with phoniness at his new school, Pencey, as well. The school s advertisement presents some hot shot
guy on a horse jumping over a fence even though there is no polo team (4). He also notices the
phoniness in his classmates including

John Donne And Cecile Day Lewis
Since definition of love and its representation varies person to person and in the past it has already
been represented in various ways, which leads one to presume that language is insufficient to represent
love. However, it is evident that the language has proved to be sufficient enough to not only analyze,
dissect and explain the feelings of love from so many angles including biologically. Subversions of
conventions of love is not the matter of insufficiency of language but a matter of how a poet
experiences love or how a poet chooses to express those experiences.
It is mainly the poet s era and life experiences that dictate how he/she represents love. Thomas Wyatt,
John Donne and Cecile Day Lewis are good examples of how life experiences can determine the poets
divergence of traditional courtly and pastoral love. An abreast analysis of the above poets lives and
their works allow us to draw parallels between their life experiences and their subversions of
conventions of love.
Thomas Wyatt s subversion of courtly love was influenced by his intimate relation with the women.
Sir Thomas Wyatt, an English ambassador suffered from his wife s infidelity and his mistress s
marriage with his king and later her execution. Due to his position of being an ambassador of England
left him no choice but to represent love in courtly and patriarchal manner. Wyatt was deeply affected
by the infidelity of his first wife and the execution of his mistress at the hands of the monarch. For

Gilgamesh is a Failure in the Epic of Gilgamesh Essay
After reading The Epic of Gilgamesh, I have come to realize that Gilgamesh is not a hero, but a
failure. His journey does not follow the traditional circular hero s journey and he does not posses the
traits that an admirable hero should have. The first part of the hero s journey is the call to adventure.
This is the voyage that the hero is asked to go on in order to accomplish greater good for human kind.
This is the hero s chance to help his or her community, family or friends by embarking on a long
journey and challenging his, or herself. Gilgamesh does not go on a journey to help others, he goes to

After the abyss, the hero is raised back up again and moves on to the return. In the return, the hero is

The tangency portfolio was obtained by removing the constraint in the mean.
Finally, the risk free rate was considered 3.6% in accordance with the information from TIPS.

It is important to mention that for the same level of return, the constrained efficient portfolio generated

Introduction
Fort Canning is a well known hill located at the South of Singapore. It was called Bukit
Larangan(Forbidden Hill) before Sir Stamford Raffles arrived, as the locals believed that 14th century
kings had built their palaces on the hill. It turned out that they were right, as later on when some of the
vegetation was removed ancient ruins were found. Archeology at the site has also uncovered relics,
which may suggest that the hill used to be a trading center before foreign forces invaded in the 1300s.
After Raffles arrived, he built his residence on the hill, as he liked the view it offered of his colony, ...

1d. The conclusions that can be drawn from Chapter 2 lead me to believe that Jeannine can be taught
to plan strategically and that she can also learn why it is important to do so. Had Jeannine followed the
proper planning process she would have been able to resolve most of the issues that she encountered
before they were a problem.
2a. Steven failed to do several things as a Project Manager. He failed to deliver the product on time

people focused on the task and prevent delays, or if delays occur communicate those issues to
management. Managing stake holders and keeping them focused on requirements and due dates goes a
long way towards preventing problems. Steve seems to have failed at this.
2b. Using the creeping requirements as an excuse seems to be a mistake as it implies project
mismanagement. If the project had been properly monitored scope creep could have been detected

Mr Darcy Foil
Pride and Prejudice A foil is a minor character that highlights particular traits of the main character.
This is achieved through the foil character possessing similar or contrasting traits to the protagonist. In
the novel Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy serves as a foil to Elizabeth. In this case, Mr. Darcy
possesses traits that emphasize, by contrast and comparison, the qualities of Elizabeth. Many romantic
stories begin with the love at first sight idea, however, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy s relationship started
off the opposite way: resentment at first sight. Mr. Darcy s arrogance and Elizabeth s pride clashed
during their first encounter at the ball. The idea of unjustly judging an individual and thinking lower
of them on the basis of a first impression is one of the main themes of the novel. Although Mr. Darcy
and Elizabeth s relationship started off on a rocky surface, their feeling towards one another changed
as they became more familiarized with each other. Consequently, the novel shows the effects of unjust
first expressions, as Mr. Darcy loses legitimacy in everything he explains to Elizabeth. For example,
when he revealing the true motives of Wickham, Elizabeth failed to believe in anything Mr. Darcy

Cultural Issues Of International Business
Culture can be defined as the sum total of the beliefs, rules, techniques, institutions, and artefacts that
characterize human populations (Ball et al, 1999 p.258). Sociologist generally talk about a
socialization process referring to the influence of social groups upon an individual, and the interaction
of that individual with other members of society. Key elements of culture include language, religion,
values, attitudes, customs and norms of a group or society. Cultural issues present a significant
challenge to businesses; particularly international businesses. This is because businesses involve
people. Every business employs people, sells to people, buys from people, and is owned and regulated
by people. International people involve people from different national cultures these cultures affect
every aspect of business functions, including but not limited to: recruiting and managing a workforce,
marketing and distribution, purchasing of raw materials, dealing with regulators, and securing funds.
The challenges that cultural issues present to international business is that of creating and nurturing
cultural awareness; identifying and understanding the dynamics of culture; recognizing behavioural
patterns and practices that affect the business; and coming up with strategies for dealing with cultural
differences.
Cultural awareness can be described as awareness of the various norms, practices, and other cultural

There can be many challenges that arise in diverse teams such as communication challenges.
Managers should ensure that people within the team are communicating clearly in a way that everyone
understands. The manager should also encourage team members to communicate with their own
individual networks to bring more knowledge and information to the group. Managers also need to
regularly provide positive feedback to the team. This will reassure the team that they are effective in
what they have done and can see progress that they have made. Lastly, effective managers need to act
as a role model to the team and mentor them. Mentoring gives employees skills and advice on what
they need to do to be successful. The manager should also act in a way that they want the rest of the
team to behave and show that they believe diverse teams can be of great benefit. Virtual and mobile

Stereotypes In Forrest Gump
White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White
privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are
white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white
people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because
white people have more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it
in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined
as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many
of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this
is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a
person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar
effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in
the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege
by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by
having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make
achievements that people of color really made.
Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest
Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He
begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not
the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his
childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has
happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. He talks about meeting Jenny on his first day
of school, his running getting him a football scholarship for college, enlisting in the army and meeting
Bubba, getting a medal of honor, and playing ping pong against China.

Art Analysis Of The Calling Of St Matthew
This essay will analyze, The Calling of St Matthews, an oil on canvas painting made between the
years of 1599 1600 by the artist, Caravaggio. Descriptive details of this painting will follow, which
will allow an in depth look into the elements and principles of design that are evident in this
Caravaggio s work. The Calling of St Matthew illustrates a religious scene where Jesus initially
encounters Saint Matthew.
Most striking is the group of well dressed young and old men who have gathered around a table
counting money. One young man has a rapier at his side. Perhaps they are gangsters sitting in a bar
gambling. An upright gentleman in dark attire, punctuated by red sleeves, stands in the shadows, his
cheekbones red and defined. The glint of a halo adorns him and provides religious iconography. Jesus
points his hand at a bearded gentleman sitting amongst his friends, Saint Matthew. Sunlight cuts the
room in half and catches Matthew s face. He looks both surprised and guilty, but the pointing leaves
Matthew confused, so he points to himself as if to say, Oh, are you looking for me? On the far left of
the table, a young accountant is absorbed in counting his coins; an old man in spectacles joins his side.
A boy in yellow with a prepubescent face, looks upon Jesus with an air of Who is this fellow? An old
man with a cane, points his hand too at Matthew as if to question, Are you sure he is a Saint? The
focal point bounces between Jesus and Matthew; his gaze and the

In this case it could be argued that Steve was suffering from paranoia in the he instantly accuses Jane of having an affair or depression as he was placed on medication by his doctor. These are both inherent causes, Anthony Martin. It could also be argued that the defendant was provoked. Provocation exists at common law but is also contained under section three of the Homicide Act 1957. To establish provocation the jury must be able to find the person charged was provoked by things said or done or to a sudden loss of self control enough to make a reasonable man do as he did. In this case the things said or done were Jane laughing and taunting the defendant, also the fact that she said it would serve him right if she had an affair as he was the most boring man she d ever known. This may be considered as cumulative provocation which the jury may consider Humphreys 1995. Some of these strategies were the establishment of Greek cities, Greek schools (Gymnasia), and commanding the Greek language as the official language for government and the de facto language for commerce. Many people began to give their children Greek names, and local styles of art and architecture began to imitate Greek models. Even some of the Jewish High Priests took Greek names. Most urban families take for granted the accessibility of the supermarket; a convenience that is hardly used for these communities in Utah and Idaho, mostly thriving off of what the earth provides for them. • 8. Electoral College Advantages The Electoral College, used to elect presidential candidates in the United States, has degenerated into an ineffective and inefficient system. Although the Electoral College had never been implemented before, the Founding Fathers nevertheless built America with this election structure, to not only experiment with this new technique but to hopefully find a solution to an election process that they expected would shortly involve millions of citizens. The Electoral College does include several beneficial advantages to the American election process, but for the most part, the Electoral College is a dysfunctional election method. The disproportionate distribution of electoral votes throughout the country demonstrates the Electoral College s ineffectiveness. Voters in smaller states have far more electors per capita than do voters in big states. For example, we look at states such as Wyoming. This state has a population of 584 thousand. It is the least populated state in America. Only 284 thousand of these citizens are registered to vote. Wyoming is allocated three electors for the Electoral College, for its two senators and one lonely house representative. This gives the state of Wyoming one elector for every 95 thousand voters: a miniscule amount compared to other states. Then we examine a state like Florida, one of the largest populated states. Florida has 19.9 million citizens, and is allocated 29 electoral votes. The number of registered voters in Florida totals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Changes Associated With Left Ventricular Hypertrophy With... Electrocardiographic changes can include left ventricular hypertrophy with repolarisation changes with T wave inversion and deep Q waves. In family members carrying HCM gene mutations, the electrocardiogram may demonstrate only minor abnormalities. The presence of non sustained ventricular tachycardia, a risk factor for sudden death, should be tested for by means of Holter monitoring (Maron et al., 2003). At present, the diagnosis of HCM relies on echocardiography revealing symmetric or asymmetric hypertrophy. Secondary causes of hypertrophy, including valvular disease or systemic hypertension, should be excluded. 2D imaging of the left ventricle by echocardiography can confirm the diagnosis in affected patients. The ejection fraction, a measure of left ventricular systolic function, is typically preserved but there is usually evidence of diastolic dysfunction. These can be measured by tissue Doppler ultrasonography, which can show diastolic dysfunction before the development of hypertrophy (Maron, 2002). Histologically, HCM is characterized by cardiac myocyte disarray and fibrosis. Myocyte death and myocardial scarring may be present and coronary arteries may have thickened walls. This pathology can promote ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation (Maron, 2002). More recently, echocardiographic techniques have been developed to refine diagnosis (and risk stratification) e.g. Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI) (Nunez J et al 2004) and Doppler 2D Strain velocities ... Confucius and Siddhartha Gautama were both influential guiders whose ideas contrasted and overlapped. They transformed and modified the way certain people live and prospect things. Confucius s train of thoughts were necessary to end the boundless hostility and warfare around him, while the Buddha sought enlightenment and the elimination of suffering. Confucius s ideology included the belief that people behave exceptionally because it s in their spirit to do so. Incredibly, with the cruel, bloody wars surrounding him, he was able to have this set of mind. He desperately looked for ways to bring structure to deal with those devastating times. Education and intelligence bring people together and he believed that everyone should have the opportunity to learn. Mrs Dalloway Bipolar Disorder Essay A superficial interpretation might claim that the conspicuous fluctuating of feelings in Mrs. Dalloway indicates bipolar disorder, especially since the most extreme example of this condition is warren smith the shell shocked world war I veteran whose insanity, disastrous search for medical treatment, eventual suicide occupy part of the novel. Once Woolf chose to combine the two separate stories, with the loss of unity this would imply, she must dramatize the split in structure and make a virtue out of it. The contrast between the minds of Clarissa and Septimus is but one way; another is the split within the characters themselves. Septimus is a schizophrenic, in the common (although not the medical) view, a split personality; and he alternates between normal and abnormal behavior. Clarissa is divided in another way; she is born under Gemini, the sign of the twins, indicated by Woolf s mention that she had just broken into her fifty second year With this Gemini or twin motif, Woolf was able to accomplish several things: achieve a balance between the two characters and story lines which fall into place as twin stories and use the motif as a basis for a complicated network of ... However, it is evident that the language has proved to be sufficient enough to not only analyze, dissect and explain the feelings of love from so many angles including biologically. Subversions of conventions of love is not the matter of insufficiency of language but a matter of how a poet experiences love or how a poet chooses to express those experiences. It is mainly the poet s era and life experiences that dictate how he/she represents love. Thomas Wyatt, John Donne and Cecile Day Lewis are good examples of how life experiences can determine the poets divergence of traditional courtly and pastoral love. An abreast analysis of the above poets lives and their works allow us to draw parallels between their life experiences and their subversions of conventions of love. Thomas Wyatt s subversion of courtly love was influenced by his intimate relation with the women. Sir Thomas Wyatt, an English ambassador suffered from his wife s infidelity and his mistress s marriage with his king and later her execution. Due to his position of being an ambassador of England left him no choice but to represent love in courtly and patriarchal manner. Wyatt was deeply affected by the infidelity of his first wife and the execution of his mistress at the hands of the monarch. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is achieved through the foil character possessing similar or contrasting traits to the protagonist. In the novel Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy serves as a foil to Elizabeth. In this case, Mr. Darcy possesses traits that emphasize, by contrast and comparison, the qualities of Elizabeth. Many romantic stories begin with the love at first sight idea, however, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy s relationship started off the opposite way: resentment at first sight. Mr. Darcy s arrogance and Elizabeth s pride clashed during their first encounter at the ball. The idea of unjustly judging an individual and thinking lower of them on the basis of a first impression is one of the main themes of the novel. Although Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth s relationship started off on a rocky surface, their feeling towards one another changed as they became more familiarized with each other. • 40. Stereotypes In Forrest Gump White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because white people have more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make achievements that people of color really made. Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. Descriptive details of this painting will follow, which will allow an in depth look into the elements and principles of design that are evident in this Caravaggio s work. The Calling of St Matthew illustrates a religious scene where Jesus initially encounters Saint Matthew. Most striking is the group of well dressed young and old men who have gathered around a table counting money. One young man has a rapier at his side. Perhaps they are gangsters sitting in a bar gambling. An upright gentleman in dark attire, punctuated by red sleeves, stands in the shadows, his cheekbones red and defined. The glint of a halo adorns him and provides religious iconography. Jesus points his hand at a bearded gentleman sitting amongst his friends, Saint Matthew. Sunlight cuts the room in half and catches Matthew s face. He looks both surprised and guilty, but the pointing leaves Matthew confused, so he points to himself as if to say, Oh, are you looking for me? On the far left of the table, a young accountant is absorbed in counting his coins; an old man in spectacles joins his side. A boy in yellow with a prepubescent face, looks upon Jesus with an air of Who is this fellow? An old man with a cane, points his hand too at Matthew as if to question, Are you sure he is a Saint?
