Ewaso Ng Iro Watershed
Ewaso Ng iro watershed is a catchment of water that stretches from the west side of Mount Kenya and
across seven arid to semi arid landscapes (Said et al. 13). The catchment is characterized by vastly
different physiographic features and species and has become a fundamental component to the survival
of the wildlife, as well as the expansion of human population and socio economic developments.
Water, the limited land resource provided by the Ewaso Ng iro watershed is unevenly distributed
throughout the higher and lower regions of the catchment due to the large percentage necessary to
maintain agricultural practices (Mutiga, Su, and Woldai 3). The ecosystems within the Ewaso Ng iro
watershed have been manipulated to such a degree that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5). The tributaries that drain into the catchment have progressively began to dry up, particularly
throughout the dry seasons (Mutiga, Su, and Woldai 102). Climate change is a major contributor to
such phenomenon, as the process of evapotranspiration has __________. Other changes such as
unreliable rainfall patterns and quantities and decreasing discharge during the low flow periods also
have significant impacts on all aspects of the Ewaso Ng iro watershed (Aeschbacher, Liniger and
Weingartner 155,156). The water catchment lies predominantly through arid to semi arid landscapes
where the annual levels of rainfall and precipitation have seemingly decreased over the years (Mutiga,
Su, and Woldai 102). As uneven water distribution has become a complex issue, the ability to support
the ecosystem s vegetation and wildlife will decrease, and human populations and developments will
faced with ongoing sustainability challenges.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY The Ewaso Ng iro watershed stretches over a diverse
variety of ecosystems from the high regions of Mount Kenya to the lower arid to semi arid regions of
land. Each ecosystem delivers a unique contribution to the land and people of Kenya as they interact
with one another to achieve a sustainable equilibrium. The wetland ecosystems which are located in
the higher regions of Mount Kenya

Assessment of the Native American Experience from...
Assessment of the Native American Experience from 1925 1975 Throughout the 1925 1975 period,
the Native American population of the United States has faced many obstacles. Just a few years
before, they had been suppressed by the federal government s Anti Long Hair policy for all Native
American males. This would set the stage for future cultural restraint on the Indians. However, they
continued to fight for equality. All through this time period, the experience of the Native American
culture has been a struggle for equality in their homeland. A major struggle for the Native population
was that of land. This is a primary issue for several reasons. First of all, the Europeans invaded their
land in the 16th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1968 the Supreme Court case Menominee v. US aided the cause in ruling that states could not
interfere with hunting and fishing rights on the Indians land which had been secured in previous
treaties. In addition, settlements were made in the 1970s that paid damages to tribes whose land had
been illegally seized by whites. However, there were still other issues that needed to be solved during
this time. The most important issues were those of social rights, self autonomy, and cultural freedom.
These were, however, more difficult tasks. Congress played the primary role in these situations
because of its legislature regarding Native American tribes. Public Law 280, passed in August of
1953, gave power to the states to take over civil and criminal jurisdiction. Because of this, the tribes
were at a loss in authority to regulate themselves. In addition, President Lyndon B. Johnson urged for
the termination of Indian programs for self determination during his term in 1968. Despite these
setbacks, legislature was passed that was beneficial to Native Americans. In June of 1924, Congress
granted citizenship to all Native Americans who were not yet citizens. This was a step towards social
equality for all Native

Spanish Informative Speech
Learning to speak Spanish will open doors for you. Like English, Spanish is an important and
widespread language in the world. The Colonial Era caused both languages to be spread to the far
corners of the globe. Along with French, these languages are the closest thing to a lingua franca that
we have today. In the U.S., Spanish is the second most commonly used language. Although it is not an
official language of the U.S, the relatively high percentage of Latino immigrants means that it is in
widespread use in some parts of the country, including California, Florida and New Mexico. There are

North Carolina Tar Heels Research Paper
¨UNI has knocked off the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels!¨ Gary Rima
***
I have been a UNI men s basketball fan for a long time, and I had been waiting forever for this
basketball game to happen. It was the UNI Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels game. The reason
Northern Iowa scheduled this matchup was because North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige was
supposed to play, but he suffered from a broken bone injury in his hand so he couldn t play. Marcus
Paige played for Linn Mar High School with his teammate, Matt Bohannon, who is UNI Panther
player. ¨So anything could happen, right? I asked my dad, ¨Dad, do you think UNI is going to knock
off the #1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels?¨ ¨Are you kidding me! I think UNI will lose by at least ...

UNI upset the #1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels 71 67! I saw the crowd of purple and gold rushed
the court to celebrate this huge win! People began yelling and cheering on what a huge win this was.
¨I was right, Dad!¨
¨I guess you are right, Nick,¨ said Dad.
¨This win would get sports coverage on Sportscenter and all over the sports world!¨
¨I know and this is a great recognition for the great town of Cedar Falls, Iowa,¨ said Dad.
Drew came over by us after the game and I said, ¨The better team won, Drew!¨
¨Yeah, yeah, yeah,¨ said Drew.
We wanted to see if any North Carolina players came out after the game and they did. Marcus Paige
came out. Drew and I asked him for a picture, but he wanted to talk to his friends and family first. We
couldn t get a picture with him, but we did get a picture with Justin Jackson. I told him, ¨Keep up the
great work!¨
¨Thank you,¨ he said.
As we walked out of the McLeod Center, I learned that I experience history wherever I go. I can also
say that any team can be beaten on any given day. Even if your record is bad you can still exceed

Things Fall Apart Gender Roles

Introduction:
Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a masterpiece and a good representation of Africa. It shows
Africans conflict with white colonizers through Okonkwo s eyes who is the protagonist of the
narration that represents resistance. The novel, also, shows the nature of Igbo culture as the reader gets
an insight of religious values, Justice system, tradition and customs. In addition, Gender plays a
significant role in things fall apart as everything appears to be gendered such as yam seeds which is
associated with masculinity. Also, there are gender stereotypes that men and women are expected to fit
in. However, sometimes their desires might not meet the framework of femininity and masculinity. As
a result, a conflict between ones desires and societies expectations might take place. Igbo society
appears to be a patriarchal one, where men are superior to women and the more masculine the man is
the more titles he will get, which will gain him more respect. In this essay the ... Show more content

womanhood s association with weakness and fragility. Okonkwo hated anything feminine because of
his father who was a failure due to his effeminacy. Consequently, he works hard to fit into

How Did Sylvia Plath Write The Bell Jar
The first time I ever read The Bell Jar, was when I was 15. I remember thinking about how raw the
author, Sylvia Plath, must have felt while writing this. There will never be a time where I can read this
story, from beginning to end, and not cry. In this story, I empathize with wanting control, with wanting
equality and not double standards, and with wanting several lives, not just one. I know this book
means a lot to me, and I am sure it means just as much to other people as well. The main character is
Esther Greenwood and she lives in New York as a guest editor for a magazine. She lives in an all girl
hotel with eleven other ladies. Plath describes that even though Esther is not alone, she cannot help but
feel deadened inside. The plot

Character Analysis Of Linda Loman In Death Of A Salesman
One of the main characters in the play, Death of a Salesman, is Linda Loman. Linda Loman faces
many difficulties in this play, one of which is being part an affair she was unaware of. In the play,
there are many sides to one story, and there are many stories with many sides. Death of a Salesman
can be portrayed in an array of ways, depending on the form of literary criticism used.
Linda Loman is the mother of Biff and Happy. Her husband is Willy Loman. Her character is viewed
as the protagonist. The true colors of Mrs. Loman come out as the play progresses. The characteristics
of the pathological dynamics of the Loman family (Cohen) are also played out.
Her son, Biff sees her as a strong woman. Biff doesn t think Linda needs Willy in her life. Biff thinks
Willy holds the family back. He s got no character Charley wouldn t do this. Not in his own house
spewing out that vomit from his mind (Miller 38). Woman are thought to be dependent on men. The
way Biff, her oldest son, views her is different than society views her.
Happy sees Linda as a sweet woman who thrives. He thinks she can do no wrong. Happy views her as
the perfect housewife. He thinks she can do anything for him and that if he wants something, she ll
make it happen. Hey, what re you doing up? Where s Pop? Is he sleeping? We met two girls, Mom,

First Day In School Essay
Sammie Jo, get up. We have to go drop dad off, I hear mom say from my door. I roll out of bed with
my doll, my brother is already in the living room. Dad has a big duffle bag sitting by the couch. He
says good bye to the dogs and then we all walk out to the car. My brother and I do not say word the
whole car ride. Mommy was crying and holding dad s hand on the way to Cherry Point. It took us
about twenty minutes to get on base and to my dad s work building. There was a lot of buff men in
their cammies, some of them are already on the bus. What is going on? I think to myself. Dad gives
mom a hug and kiss before he gave me and my brother a hug. I don t understand what is going on but
I don t let go off my daddy for what felt like forever. Time to let go kiddo, Dad says before making me
pull away. He gives us one last look before walking into the big group of Marines. I keep my eyes on
him as long as possible before he gets on the bus and drives away. The next day is the first day of
second grade. I cannot wait to see my old classmates and meet my new teacher. When we get done
eating breakfast, we give mom a hug good bye then head to the bus stop. It does not feel right, only
saying bye to one parent before going to school but my brother, Blake, just tells me that I better get

The Role of Effective Leadership
Leadership cannot be conducted alone needs partnering, and partnering is one of the important key
point for leaders and followers to transcend interests and facilitate the public good. Leadership is
about principles and principles form a foundation that people anchor themselves with passion to
initiate action and driven an effort or organization toward a common vision. Leaders should consider a
wide range of policy goals; they also should consider a wide range of options to achieve the goals.
When making decisions a leader quickly learns that one size does not fit all. Rules are leaders tools
and they can be excellent tools for achieving a variety of important goals.
Leadership in teacher education and the university in general has been observed in recent years.
Universities and their component schools are not always saw it as a common good for a couple of
reasons. Leadership is one necessary ingredient to reconcile these issues. Leadership is fundamentally
necessary for the teacher education and university to gain the confidence of the community they serve,
by actively working toward a shared vision aimed at the common good. This work requires leaders
who are willing and able to engage societal issues in the context of the overall mission of the school
and the university. Additionally, this work requires that the university understand both community
needs and the capacity of the community to help address its own needs with the assistance of the
university, its schools,

Causation of Serial Killers Essay
I just know it s a dark side of me. It kind of controls me. I personally think it s I know it s not very
Christian, but I actually think its demons within me (Wenzl et al. 308). Dennis Rader, infamously
known as BTK, commented about what he called his factor X above, which he claimed was his motive
for killing. The demons within Rader supposedly caused him to murder four members from the Otero
Family leaving the youngest daughter hanging in the basement nearly naked and gagged (Wenzl et al.

psychopathology, but we cannot ignore that these traits were triggered by early childhood experience.

In order to prevent this, he consumed and soaked himself in the blood of those he had slain
(Brogaard). Chase suffered from paranoia as a result of his schizophrenia, making him believe that
there actually were Nazis trying to kill him. Similar to Watts, Chase also lost his sense of reality
allowing his paranoia to consume him and as a result he killed multiple people. This inability to
differentiate between fantasy and reality is significant among all psychotic serial killers. Psychotic
serial killers can also be triggered by their relationships with family members and loss of close
relatives, such as in the case of Ed Gein (Morrison 51). Ed Gein was also a Schizophrenic, who began
digging up graves and most notably skinning his victims to make suits consisting of women s breasts
and genitals (Morrison 52). People hypothesized that Gein wore these suits made from his female
victims because he wanted a sex change (Brogaard). This is incorrect because in an interview with
Morrison, Gein made it clear that they were wrong and they were only assumptions (quote and page).
These criminal actions were triggered after the loss of his brother, father, and most importantly, his
over bearing mother (Morrison 51). The death of his family left Gein alone, and his psychosis disabled
his ability to properly mourn and cope with the deaths. In order to cope with the death of his mother,

Smoke Signals
In Amanda J. Cobb s article titled This is What It Means to Say Smoke Signals, the author elucidates
the significance of this film by showcasing the uniqueness of its story, creators, and contemporary
representation of Native Americans in Hollywood film. Cobb brings to light the idea that this film was
not only the first film to be written and directed by Native artists, but that it was the first to exercise
the idea of self definition and cultural sovereignty (207). The paper goes on to compare Smoke
Signals to other films such as Powwow Highway (1989) as well as how its story either breaks old
stereotypes or reinforces others in an uncommonly humorous and relaxing tone. Alongside these
topics, Cobb s piece also touches on critical questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the segment put it, the movie is a classic Hollywood roadtrip/buddy cinema that uses humor to tell
a story of loss and redemption about the two main protagonists, Thomas Builds the Fire and Victor
Joseph (208). The author goes on to more clearly contend the singularity of the film in comparison to
other films such as Powwow Highway in the sense that Smoke Signals did not center around an Indian
and white conflict, but instead it focused on Victor s internal struggles with his father (210). This,
combined with the fact that Native Americans were not only in the film, but also a part of the outside,
introduced the reasons why the film had a unparalleled plot and a set of different standards to meet in
comparison to past films. As Cobb put it, the film had to find a balance in creating a film that had an
implicit political goal, while also being a relaxing American and Native cinema that appease both
audiences and was able to achieve some commercial value. According to the writer, the film was able
to achieve this in the comedic conversations between Victor and Thomas, highlighting a famous scene
of a bus that challenges the stereotypical images of the Indian warrior and medicine man (214). The
film wasn t all breaking of cliche Indian ideas. The author does highlight the argument that the film

Lactate Dehydrogenase Lab Report
Isoenzymes of Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH)
Part A: Separating Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymes from tissue homogenates using
electrophoresis
Introduction
Isoenzymes of Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) in plasma are used to indicate whether a person has
suffered a recent heart attack or is suspected to have liver disease. LDH is found in both plants and
animals, it is an enzyme that catalyses the conversion of pyruvate and lactate. Pyruvate is the final
product of glycolysis, in glycolysis energy in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is produced
from glucose. Isoenzymes are variant forms of the same enzyme that occur within an individual, the
variants can have slight differences in amino acid sequence, in catalytic activity and also differ in their

for the isoenzymes in the proteins to separate according to charge.
One plasma sample and three tissue homogenate samples (muscle, heart and liver) were applied to the
cellulose acetate card. In figure 1, the isoenzymes in the samples moved towards the anode or stayed
in the area where the initial sample was applied, indicating that some isoenzymes had no net charge
and others had an overall negative charge.
The plasma sample had a mildly visible band in MH3; the muscle sample had visible bands in all
sections with M4 being the most prominent; the heart sample had visible bands in all sections with H4

Essay about Organized Crime
Organized Crime
Organized crime has always been occupied with a negative label. Perhaps this is due to the constantly
changing environment in America as well as the social state of its homeland, Europe. Our society is
convinced that the so called Mafia is a family of pure criminals, pimps, and murderers. Whatever the
opinion, there is no doubt that the Mafia played a big part in the history of America and the way
Americans view crime today. The origins of the secret society known as the Mafia are believed to be
as old as the 9th century (Mafia History). During the 9th century, the Mafia s main purpose was to
strengthen themselves against enemies, which invaded their homeland in Sicily. It was supposed to

the rule called the Omerta. The Omerta is a code of silence. A vow never to reveal any Mafia secrets

obedience rule stated that the member must at all times be loyal to the boss or Don. A third law of the

Avenge any attack on members of the family, because an attack on one was an attack on all, and the

The Missouri Compromise, passed May 8, 1820, was an act which would obtain the balance between
free and slave states. Missouri would come into the union as a slave state, while Massachusetts would
establish Maine and admit Maine to the union as a free state. In order to avoid confusion for the future
of statehood, the 36 30 line split the country in two, anything above this line was free, anything below
this line was slave. Subsequent to this was Henry Clay s Compromise of 1850. California wished to be
added to the union as a free state, but was essentially split in half by the 36 30 line, enabled by the
Missouri Compromise. Despite that, California was added as a free state, with New Mexico and Utah
to be decided by popular sovereignty, meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If not for events such as the women s rights movement, slavery may never have been abolished.
During the 1800 s, women began to join in the protests for abolition and stopping the expansion of
slavery. Lincoln imposed many ideas on the expansion of slavery which were also placed on the
women s rights movement. Women were seen as subsequent to men, therefore leading them to push
for their rights. As time went on, after slavery eventually was abolished, women then started their
journey for voting rights. Glancing at the women s suffrage and slavery, though not treated as poorly,
women had almost the same rights as slaves. Women wished for rights and the act of abolition just as
much as any slave ever could. All in all, no political action or moral argument would ever be able to
justify the cruel nature of slavery despite many efforts made and long lasting battles. The expansion of
slavery needed to come to an end, and though this wouldn t satisfy everyone, nothing ever

The Writting Of Lordship And Bandage By G. F. Hegel
The writting of Lordship and Bandage by G. W. F. Hegel explains the relationship with the master, and
their slave. He explains this by basically saying that for one to receive self conscious they must
engage with someone similar to them. However, this backfires, because not knowing how to
communicate often creates conflict. This then leading towards a fight between the two people to find
who will be superior, or in other words, the master. The person who loses the fight, and is seen as
weak, will become the slave. Hegel then explains the relationship between the master, and the slave
will instead include the positions switch. Meaning, the master will become the slave, while the slave
will become the master, due to the three influential principles.

Anzac Day In Australia
The torment: remembering what you left behind and even worse; the prospect that you may never
return. Watching the eyes of your comrade s glaze over, while your mind explodes with horror.
Nobody can possibly question the fear, the blood, the heartache, and the terrors that haunted those
men for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, we just see all soldiers as one body, one personality; we
forget that each soldier, though fighting for the same cause, had his own moral and mental battles to
attend to. Maybe this is because it s simply too painful for us to comprehend, or maybe it is due to the
generic persona given to the soldiers by the Anzac legend. The Gallipoli campaign, though a terrible
tragedy, provided the then newly federated Australia with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some began to argue that the celebrations glorified war and allowed it to be justified. This was
rivalled by the opinion that the Gallipoli tragedies were a defining moment in Australian history, and
that Anzac day had the ability to unify the nation. Those who question the relevance of the Anzac
legend today do so in danger of being labelled as unpatriotic and disrespectful, when in reality, the
legend leaves a lot of deserving people unrepresented. Many
Australians can trace their ancestry back to a person involved in WW1, which means that families
tend to have a more emotional attachment to the topic, and they find comfort and pride in the Anzac
legend.
Although the legend doesn t really capture the diversity amongst the people who stepped up to answer
the call, nor their varying experiences, it gives depth to our nations history, and shows the raw
emotion and the kindred spirit of all the soldiers. There are so many untold stories; so many hidden
identities, and although we can never completely rectify that, it is crucial that we seek out the voices
that will never

Reasoning for Keeping Physical Education in the Curriculum
Dear Mr Vaughan
I am writing in accordance to the letter you sent out about abolishing Physical Education from your
school s curriculum. I wish to express my reasoning and justifications for Physical Education to be
included.
My main issue is with your statement that PE should be abolished because it has little educational
significance. I could not disagree more, it has more significance, as it doesn t go in pursuit of
knowledge per say, it aims to achieve: An improvement in perceptual knowledge of everyday
surroundings, this helps to give students a greater ability to respond to situations in appropriate way; It
also helps the students to focus, if they are in a game situation, they will focus on what they re doing
in order to respond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will learn how to compete with themselves and others. This, alongside a degree of self
improvement can be powerful life skills that could prove very useful in their future careers. Other
skills that PE can offer an assistance with are: team building and leadership skills that will also
provoke the awareness of the people around you and make the students alert to how the peers around
them work and give them guidance and support on how to improve or overcome some problems or
obstacles they may encounter, be this within PE, other lessons, and everyday life.
I feel strongly about the inclusion of PE as it can completely change the attitudes of students for a
more positive point of view on many subjects. It has many more positive implications on students than
it does negatives, your students will have a break from the typical classroom environment and get a
break from just sitting in class and having to swallow a large intake of information which, can be
difficult for some students. Learning becomes practical and more student oriented which can involve
those students who learn in: kinaesthetic, auditory, and visual ways. The students who find sitting and
having to read and make notes difficult have ample opportunity to excel in Physical Education, as they
have a chance to learn in their preferred way and gain self esteem and confidence to try more

The Growth of the Asian Economy
Asian Economy: The growth of the Asian Economy has had positive structural effects on the
Australian Economy. The trade volumes are at record high levels with China and the appreciation of
the exchange rates have provided a boost to the economy. There has also been a rise in the resource
investment, which has seen a reallocation of factors of production, which has lead to employment
growth in these sectors. The focus of the Asian economies is on the production and consumption of
goods and the commodity intensive nature of this rise has led to an increase in commodity prices. This
has led to an increase in the productive capacity, which supports the exports, employment, incomes,
taxes and wealth of the Australian population. The strength of the resource sector has had a positive
effects on the exchange rate which when combined with the stable inflation rate has led to a
significant increase in wage dollar of the working population (Plumb, Kent, Bishop, Implications for
the Australian Economy of Strong Growth in Asia, 2013). Competition: Australia s asset pool of over
A$1869.5 billion (finnewsnetwork) has attracted many Investment Managing firms from US and
Europe. This amount is equivalent to 135% of the country s nominal GDP. The Australian Economy is
the 4th largest in the Asia Pacific with the sophisticated finance and insurance contributing 10.8%

House On Mango Street Compare And Contrast Essay
According to talkproverty.org 21.4% of Hispanics in America are living in poverty. A book call The
House on Mango Street and a movie call Stand and Deliver, represent the struggle of being a Hispanic
in America. The House on Mango Street is similar to the movie, Stand and Deliver because the
characters were judged based on where they lives, the characters have low self esteem, and the
females were expected to take care of family. The House on Mango Street is also different from the
movie, Stand and Deliver, because of the encouragement the characters received by adults, the
relationships the characters build, and the different viewpoint the characters have on where they will
be in the future. In my opinion, The House on Mango Street interests me more than Stand and Deliver,
because the book leaves you wondering what is going to happen next, allows you to imagine the
characters, and it has different storylines. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book and movie the characters are judged based on where they lived. In the movie, the district
did not believe that the students received the high test scores because they lived in poverty. Similar to,
how the woman did not allow Esperanza to sit in the cool kids area for lunch since she lived in the
apartments. From Stand and Deliver, Pancho did not think he was smart enough to solve the calculus
equation on the board. Compared to, Esperanza, who called her feet ugly, we can infer that both
characters have low self esteem. The last similarity I want to talk about is the how the female
characters were expected to take care of their family. Esperanza had to take care of her sister in the
book just as how Lupe had to take care of her siblings because her mom comes home late. This shows
that females are expected to take care of

The History Boys Movie Review
The comedy in The History Boys centres around opposition created by the two teachers Hector and
Irwin. Comedy is created through clear contrasts in personalities, and teaching methods. Bennett
makes use of this opposition in order to display society s norms, values and views on education.
Additionally, comedy is created because the opposition creates clashes between the two teachers
therefore creating conflict. During the 1980s, education was in a state of change. Traditional values of
order and discipline were being challenged by more progressive methods . Therefore, when corporal
punishments were banned in 1987, teachers like Hector faced difficulties and hardship because old
school teachers [were] unable to control their classes . However, Irwin who is more contemporary and
does not have to adapt to change his teaching methods to suit the educational reformation taking place.
The contrasts create comedy because Bennett uses it to mocking the conflicting ideas.
Comedy is created though oppositions in personality. Hector has an eccentric and a rather optimistic
personality, which differs to Irwin s intellectual and ambitious personality. Hector is the long time
English master and Irwin is a very young supply teacher. Both teachers crave the boys attention and
approval. The differences in personalities create comedy because it entertains the audience and makes
them express amusement as the collision of personalities leads to the teachers competing for the boys

Day shows dedication throughout Legend many times, much like Boxer did in Animal Farm. He
shows dedication towards what he believes in as well as dedication to his family and friends
throughout the novel. The text says: I m in a huge room filled with rows of gurneys and chemicals
boiling under metal hoods. Doctors and soldiers look up at me with startled faces. I grab the first
person I see a young doctor standing close to the door. Before any of the soldiers can point a gun in
our direction, I whip out one of my knives and hold it close to the man s throat. The other doctors and

dedication to only keep his family safe, he shows it to Tess as well: Kaede looks slowly around the
circle, shaking her head or sometimes tilting it to one side. I keep my eyes on Tess. She stands on her
tiptoes behind several taller people, straining for a good look. Then she taps them hesitantly on their
shoulders, says something, and pushes her way forward. I tighten my jaw at the sight. Next time I ll
join her. Then she can sit on my shoulders and finally get to see the fights, instead of calling unwanted
attention to herself. A second later, I bolt upright. Tess has pushed her way past one of the larger

Two Different Types of Abortion
Abortion has become very common in the past couple of years. In fact, research has shown that one
out of three women in the United States have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old (Abortion )
According to Planned Parenthood, there are currently two kinds of abortions being performed in the
United States. One kind of abortion is the in clinic abortion, which is a medical procedure that will
end pregnancy in a safe and effective way, generally costing about three hundred to $950 dollars
during the first trimester (Abortion ). The second kind of abortion available in the United States is the
abortion pill. The abortion pill will require the woman to take medicines to end an early pregnancy,
which it is also said to be safe and effective. The cost of the pill will range from three hundred to eight
hundred dollars. The abortion pill may be used up to 63 day (9 weeks) after the women s last period.
(Abortion ). If the woman s pregnancy is more than nine weeks an in clinic abortion will be
performed, in order to end the pregnancy.
Abortion has come a long way throughout the years and has always been a controversial topic.
Abortion is controversial because they are the liberal minded individuals that believe abortion should
be a decision made only by the pregnant women. There are also the more conservative minded
individuals that believe abortion should not be performed by any circumstances. These individuals
reject the idea of an abortion due to religious beliefs. A

Power in International Relations
The conception is power in International Relations is a key to a better understanding of the discipline.
In many cases the definition of power affects the way in which many issues are tackled in foreign
policy or security. There are many theories that try to deal with the conception of power, however they
make a rather large number of assumptions that might make them difficult to applicable in real life.
Furthermore many of them does not take into consideration that power evolves, therefore if we want
to understand and conceptualize power in the international sphere it is crucial to analyze different
theories and conceptions of it.This essay will argue that power is a broad term that can best be
conceptualized and explained in IR by a multiplicity of theories. In making this argument, this essay
will first explain why power power is crucial in the study of International Relations. Then two theories
of power from the realist tradition , one of the neoliberalist tradition, one of postmodernism and a
critical theory of realism will be outlined. This theories of power will be explained and compared in
order to create a complete conceptualization of the term power than can be applied to the twentieth
first century
The realist view of International Relations explains that power is crucial for International Relations
because every state is in the pursuit of it. Furthermore the words power and powerful are used very
often in the international spectrum, however a definition of it

Characteristics Of Aspirin
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF ASPIRIN ACETYLSALCYLIC ACID
Summary:
The lab experiment was divided into parts and the synthesis of the aspirin occurred during the first
week. Using 4.032g of salicylic acid 8.0mL of acetic anhydride on a hot bath the reaction was speeded
up by the use of a catalyst phosphoric acid. Once the sample was then left to dry in the drawer for a
week using the melting point apparatus we conducted the purity assessment of the dried sample.
Introduction:
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is a commonly known drug used to treat fever, pain and inflammation,
aspirin can also be purchased over the counter medication or by prescription from a doctor. The
synthesis of aspirin occurs by combining acetic anhydride and salicylic acid, salicylic acid is a
naturally occurring product that can be found in the bark of a willow tree1. Since it is highly acidic
and salicylic acid would potentially damage the gastric membrane hence the addition of the acetic
anhydride. C7H6O3+ C4H6O3 C9H8O4 +C2H4O2
A few drops of phosphoric acid are added to the reaction, phosphoric acid acts as a catalyst so as to
speed up the rate of the reaction. The use of the acetic anhydride cautions us to prematurely use any
water so as to prevent any hydrolysis of the acetic anhydride from occurring.
Results and Discussion:
A 400 600mL beaker was filled with water and placed on a hot plate to create a hot water bath and a

Descriptive Essay About Kahului Airport
As I leave for Oregon I enter the Kahului airport, a fairly familiar site as I ve been here a number of
times for various reasons. Once inside I head to my destination, which isn t too hard to find. The
airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting their flights. On the way to my gate I come across a
hot dog stand selling overpriced hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for myself and one for
each of my brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was decent enough. Maybe
he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on each hotdog. I sit at one of
the seats that line the aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside me my brothers sit and eat their own
hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty much like most of the airport. The time comes to
board the plane, the small space is filled and we take off shortly after. Looking out the window all you
can see is the dark of night and the lights coming from the island. With a long flight ahead, I do my
best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from Maui I arrive in San Francisco. I step off the
plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an airport much larger than the one in Kahului. The much
more calm feeling of the island is replaced by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite
honestly it s a tad strange. There was not a moment s rest for these people as they hurried along from
one gate to the next. There s no order in the way people walk, sometimes

The Effects Of Music Education On Mainstream Education Essay
This research focuses on answering if music education has enough crossover benefit to include it into
our mainstream education. Two scholarly articles, a blog, a personal story and an online article were
selected and consulted to find the answer to this question. Many authors in many articles had minimal
criticism of music education and most were in favor of music education. Findings were that yes, music
education does in fact have enough crossover benefit to include it into mainstream education. Music
education may be time consuming and sometimes expensive, yet the benefits of self discipline, deeper
conceptual thinking, more developed brain function, and endless creativity of students makes it very
worthwhile.
Henry David Thoreau once stated, If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is
because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or
far away. People have different perceptions about everything, but some statements are simply fact.
Though fact may be fact, opinion and perspective plays a huge role in our society, especially the
education side of society. Everyone on Earth has experienced music in some way, but a question some
have pondered is, does music education have enough crossover benefit to academics to include it in
our mainstream education? As we explore the pages upon pages of research on this topic, it is to be
found that music education provides more than enough crossover

the outcome of this project may impact the whole organization if decisions were made accordingly, the

  • 2. Ewaso Ng Iro Watershed Ewaso Ng iro watershed is a catchment of water that stretches from the west side of Mount Kenya and across seven arid to semi arid landscapes (Said et al. 13). The catchment is characterized by vastly different physiographic features and species and has become a fundamental component to the survival of the wildlife, as well as the expansion of human population and socio economic developments. Water, the limited land resource provided by the Ewaso Ng iro watershed is unevenly distributed throughout the higher and lower regions of the catchment due to the large percentage necessary to maintain agricultural practices (Mutiga, Su, and Woldai 3). The ecosystems within the Ewaso Ng iro watershed have been manipulated to such a degree that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5). The tributaries that drain into the catchment have progressively began to dry up, particularly throughout the dry seasons (Mutiga, Su, and Woldai 102). Climate change is a major contributor to such phenomenon, as the process of evapotranspiration has __________. Other changes such as unreliable rainfall patterns and quantities and decreasing discharge during the low flow periods also have significant impacts on all aspects of the Ewaso Ng iro watershed (Aeschbacher, Liniger and Weingartner 155,156). The water catchment lies predominantly through arid to semi arid landscapes where the annual levels of rainfall and precipitation have seemingly decreased over the years (Mutiga, Su, and Woldai 102). As uneven water distribution has become a complex issue, the ability to support the ecosystem s vegetation and wildlife will decrease, and human populations and developments will faced with ongoing sustainability challenges. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY The Ewaso Ng iro watershed stretches over a diverse variety of ecosystems from the high regions of Mount Kenya to the lower arid to semi arid regions of land. Each ecosystem delivers a unique contribution to the land and people of Kenya as they interact with one another to achieve a sustainable equilibrium. The wetland ecosystems which are located in the higher regions of Mount Kenya ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Assessment of the Native American Experience from... Assessment of the Native American Experience from 1925 1975 Throughout the 1925 1975 period, the Native American population of the United States has faced many obstacles. Just a few years before, they had been suppressed by the federal government s Anti Long Hair policy for all Native American males. This would set the stage for future cultural restraint on the Indians. However, they continued to fight for equality. All through this time period, the experience of the Native American culture has been a struggle for equality in their homeland. A major struggle for the Native population was that of land. This is a primary issue for several reasons. First of all, the Europeans invaded their land in the 16th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1968 the Supreme Court case Menominee v. US aided the cause in ruling that states could not interfere with hunting and fishing rights on the Indians land which had been secured in previous treaties. In addition, settlements were made in the 1970s that paid damages to tribes whose land had been illegally seized by whites. However, there were still other issues that needed to be solved during this time. The most important issues were those of social rights, self autonomy, and cultural freedom. These were, however, more difficult tasks. Congress played the primary role in these situations because of its legislature regarding Native American tribes. Public Law 280, passed in August of 1953, gave power to the states to take over civil and criminal jurisdiction. Because of this, the tribes were at a loss in authority to regulate themselves. In addition, President Lyndon B. Johnson urged for the termination of Indian programs for self determination during his term in 1968. Despite these setbacks, legislature was passed that was beneficial to Native Americans. In June of 1924, Congress granted citizenship to all Native Americans who were not yet citizens. This was a step towards social equality for all Native ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Colonial Era caused both languages to be spread to the far corners of the globe. Along with French, these languages are the closest thing to a lingua franca that we have today. In the U.S., Spanish is the second most commonly used language. Although it is not an official language of the U.S, the relatively high percentage of Latino immigrants means that it is in widespread use in some parts of the country, including California, Florida and New Mexico. North Carolina Tar Heels Research Paper ¨UNI has knocked off the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels!¨ Gary Rima *** I have been a UNI men s basketball fan for a long time, and I had been waiting forever for this basketball game to happen. It was the UNI Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels game. The reason Northern Iowa scheduled this matchup was because North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige was supposed to play, but he suffered from a broken bone injury in his hand so he couldn t play. Marcus Paige played for Linn Mar High School with his teammate, Matt Bohannon, who is UNI Panther player. ¨So anything could happen, right? Drew came over by us after the game and I said, ¨The better team won, Drew!¨ ¨Yeah, yeah, yeah,¨ said Drew. We wanted to see if any North Carolina players came out after the game and they did. Marcus Paige came out. Drew and I asked him for a picture, but he wanted to talk to his friends and family first. We couldn t get a picture with him, but we did get a picture with Justin Jackson. I told him, ¨Keep up the great work!¨ ¨Thank you,¨ he said. As we walked out of the McLeod Center, I learned that I experience history wherever I go. It shows Africans conflict with white colonizers through Okonkwo s eyes who is the protagonist of the narration that represents resistance. I remember thinking about how raw the author, Sylvia Plath, must have felt while writing this. There will never be a time where I can read this story, from beginning to end, and not cry. In this story, I empathize with wanting control, with wanting equality and not double standards, and with wanting several lives, not just one. I know this book means a lot to me, and I am sure it means just as much to other people as well. The main character is Esther Greenwood and she lives in New York as a guest editor for a magazine. When fully focused it seemed as if time had stepped aside and left him to his own doings, in his own world. In the deep, black canvas of his mind, colored dots shoot across each other like the protons and electrons of atoms. The dots play around until they became one fuzzy image. In the dimness of his gray dorm room he squinted, The fuzz cleared and the image became distinguishable. A photograph, of the gray square room he sat inside. The photograph showed him, sitting at his computer desk table. His pale face illuminated by the blank white light of his computer screen. His gray shirt, gray pair of sweatpants, almost faded into the wall behind him. He was crouching heavily over his desk. Soon the photograph doubled. The Role of Effective Leadership Leadership cannot be conducted alone needs partnering, and partnering is one of the important key point for leaders and followers to transcend interests and facilitate the public good. Leadership is about principles and principles form a foundation that people anchor themselves with passion to initiate action and driven an effort or organization toward a common vision. Leaders should consider a wide range of policy goals; they also should consider a wide range of options to achieve the goals. I personally think it s I know it s not very Christian, but I actually think its demons within me (Wenzl et al. 308). Dennis Rader, infamously known as BTK, commented about what he called his factor X above, which he claimed was his motive for killing. The demons within Rader supposedly caused him to murder four members from the Otero Family leaving the youngest daughter hanging in the basement nearly naked and gagged (Wenzl et al. 10). Chase suffered from paranoia as a result of his schizophrenia, making him believe that there actually were Nazis trying to kill him. This inability to differentiate between fantasy and reality is significant among all psychotic serial killers. Psychotic serial killers can also be triggered by their relationships with family members and loss of close relatives, such as in the case of Ed Gein (Morrison 51). Ed Gein was also a Schizophrenic, who began digging up graves and most notably skinning his victims to make suits consisting of women s breasts and genitals (Morrison 52). People hypothesized that Gein wore these suits made from his female victims because he wanted a sex change (Brogaard). This is incorrect because in an interview with Morrison, Gein made it clear that they were wrong and they were only assumptions (quote and page). These criminal actions were triggered after the loss of his brother, father, and most importantly, his over bearing mother (Morrison 51). The death of his family left Gein alone, and his psychosis disabled his ability to properly mourn and cope with the deaths. In order to cope with the death of his mother, Gein ... As the segment put it, the movie is a classic Hollywood roadtrip/buddy cinema that uses humor to tell a story of loss and redemption about the two main protagonists, Thomas Builds the Fire and Victor Joseph (208). The author goes on to more clearly contend the singularity of the film in comparison to other films such as Powwow Highway in the sense that Smoke Signals did not center around an Indian and white conflict, but instead it focused on Victor s internal struggles with his father (210). This, combined with the fact that Native Americans were not only in the film, but also a part of the outside, introduced the reasons why the film had a unparalleled plot and a set of different standards to meet in comparison to past films. As Cobb put it, the film had to find a balance in creating a film that had an implicit political goal, while also being a relaxing American and Native cinema that appease both audiences and was able to achieve some commercial value. According to the writer, the film was able to achieve this in the comedic conversations between Victor and Thomas, highlighting a famous scene of a bus that challenges the stereotypical images of the Indian warrior and medicine man (214). I could not disagree more, it has more significance, as it doesn t go in pursuit of knowledge per say, it aims to achieve: An improvement in perceptual knowledge of everyday surroundings, this helps to give students a greater ability to respond to situations in appropriate way; It also helps the students to focus, if they are in a game situation, they will focus on what they re doing in order to respond ... I feel strongly about the inclusion of PE as it can completely change the attitudes of students for a more positive point of view on many subjects. It has many more positive implications on students than it does negatives, your students will have a break from the typical classroom environment and get a break from just sitting in class and having to swallow a large intake of information which, can be difficult for some students. Learning becomes practical and more student oriented which can involve those students who learn in: kinaesthetic, auditory, and visual ways. • 34. Characteristics Of Aspirin SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF ASPIRIN ACETYLSALCYLIC ACID Summary: The lab experiment was divided into parts and the synthesis of the aspirin occurred during the first week. Using 4.032g of salicylic acid 8.0mL of acetic anhydride on a hot bath the reaction was speeded up by the use of a catalyst phosphoric acid. Once the sample was then left to dry in the drawer for a week using the melting point apparatus we conducted the purity assessment of the dried sample. Introduction: Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is a commonly known drug used to treat fever, pain and inflammation, aspirin can also be purchased over the counter medication or by prescription from a doctor. The synthesis of aspirin occurs by combining acetic anhydride and salicylic acid, salicylic acid is a naturally occurring product that can be found in the bark of a willow tree1. Since it is highly acidic and salicylic acid would potentially damage the gastric membrane hence the addition of the acetic anhydride. C7H6O3+ C4H6O3 C9H8O4 +C2H4O2 A few drops of phosphoric acid are added to the reaction, phosphoric acid acts as a catalyst so as to speed up the rate of the reaction. The use of the acetic anhydride cautions us to prematurely use any water so as to prevent any hydrolysis of the acetic anhydride from occurring. Results and Discussion: A 400 600mL beaker was filled with water and placed on a hot plate to create a hot water bath and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Descriptive Essay About Kahului Airport As I leave for Oregon I enter the Kahului airport, a fairly familiar site as I ve been here a number of times for various reasons. Once inside I head to my destination, which isn t too hard to find. The airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting their flights. On the way to my gate I come across a hot dog stand selling overpriced hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for myself and one for each of my brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was decent enough. Maybe he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on each hotdog. I sit at one of the seats that line the aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside me my brothers sit and eat their own hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty much like most of the airport. The time comes to board the plane, the small space is filled and we take off shortly after. Looking out the window all you can see is the dark of night and the lights coming from the island. With a long flight ahead, I do my best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from Maui I arrive in San Francisco. I step off the plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an airport much larger than the one in Kahului. The much more calm feeling of the island is replaced by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite honestly it s a tad strange. There was not a moment s rest for these people as they hurried along from one gate to the next. There s no order in the way people walk, sometimes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two scholarly articles, a blog, a personal story and an online article were selected and consulted to find the answer to this question. Many authors in many articles had minimal criticism of music education and most were in favor of music education. Music education may be time consuming and sometimes expensive, yet the benefits of self discipline, deeper conceptual thinking, more developed brain function, and endless creativity of students makes it very worthwhile. Henry David Thoreau once stated, If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. People have different perceptions about everything, but some statements are simply fact. Though fact may be fact, opinion and perspective plays a huge role in our society, especially the education side of society. Everyone on Earth has experienced music in some way, but a question some have pondered is, does music education have enough crossover benefit to academics to include it in our mainstream education? As we explore the pages upon pages of research on this topic, it is to be found that music education provides more than enough crossover ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the communication during the OD process will be web based and not a face to face process, the direct clients were kept limited. During the initial interview, via Skype, with the owner, he exposed that AEF has been working on a strategic plan with Dr. Ali, a professional consultant and the director of M DC. Although the outcome of this project may impact the whole organization if decisions were made accordingly, the relevant clients were identified as the three members who are the key holders of knowledge about the new strategic plan: the owner, Dr. Ali, and the deputy general manager, Mr. Akber Ahmad. Hence, a project work plan was emailed to the clients to keep them on track with the OD process as well as set clear expectations about the study. (Exhibit 1).
