What Is The Pharaoh s Reason In The Book Of Exodus
In the book of Exodus from the Bible, God and Pharaoh both wish for possession of the Hebrews
for different reasons. Pharaoh rose to power in Egypt thinking he could use them to his benefit and
the city s benefit, all while trying to reduce the number inhabiting the powerful city, while God
wanted to free his people from the oppression occurring in Egypt. Pharaoh took the throne in Egypt
only to come to quick conclusions. The pharaoh stated, See! The Israelite people have
multiplied...let us deal shrewdly with them to stop their increase (Ex. 1:9 10). Pharaoh is not happy
to see all of the Hebrews occupying his city. He therefore puts them through harsh, intensive labor.
He expects the Israelitesto build him a magnificent city and to only

Chicken Pox Epidemiology
This paper will give an overview of the varicella zoster virus. This paper will also discuss the
detriments of health from the chickenpox virus. The epidemiologic triangle will be outlined as it
depicts the chickenpox virus. The aspect of the community health nurse will be discussed and
information on a national organization for infectious diseases will be provided.
Chicken pox and shingles are caused by the virus varicella zoster. The varicella zoster virus is
spread through the air by coughing or sneezing and can also be spread by touching the blisters or
inhaling particles from the blisters ( CDC, n.d.). Chicken pox (varicella) is a highly contagious
virus. The reactivation of the chickenpox virus (varicella zoster virus) is ... Show more content on

Receiving the appropriate vaccinations is important not just to the individual, but is important to
the community as well. An individual not receiving the appropriate vaccines can put the entire
community at risk. The detriments of health can reach further than common healthcare, partnering
with sectors of public health is important to improve the overall health of the community.
The epidemiological triangle has three vertices: the microbe that causes the disease (agent), the
organism harboring the disease (host), and the external factors that allow the disease transmissions
(environment) ( CDC, n.d.) If one of the sides of the triangle are broken, a disruption occurs
between the agent, host or environment halts the continuation of the disease. Varicella zoster only
occurs in humans. Chickenpox occurs most commonly in children under the age of fifteen and less
commonly in adults ( CDC, n.d.).
The agent for this example of the epidemiological triangle is varicella zoster. Viruses have core
genetic material and take over cells to reproduce that genetic material. Varicella zoster is a virus
that is spread through airbourne droplets such as by coughing or sneezing, inhaling infected
particles from the blisters or by touching the blisters. Chickenpox is highly contagious. It can take
ten to twenty one days for symptoms to appear. Infected individuals can be contagious for one to

Little Rock Nine
Little Rock Nine
The Little Rock Nine were one of the most important groups in history. They were called the
Little Rock Nine because there were nine young black students, who were the first to integrate
Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Little Rock Nine were important in the Civil
Rights movement because they were the first black students to be allowed to attend an all white
high school. There are numerous stories and documentation of the events that took place at Little
Rock s Central High School and Melba Pattillo Beal, who was a part of the Little Rock Nine group,
autobiography is a very vivid emotional writing. The most important piece of historical information
that Beal s Warriors Don t Cry provides about the integration of Little Rock Central High Schoolis
the emotional toll that the integration brought on the students and their community. This is the
most important piece of historical information provided by Warriors because it is told from a
first person point of view, and it reveals how difficult it was for blacks and whites to accept
integration and how far they were willing to go to put an end to it.
In the beginning of Melba Patillo Beals, Warriors Don t Cry, it starts off telling about the first day
that integration starts. Her mother is driving her to the school and before they leave, they notice the
unusual things happening in their neighborhood. When her mother tries to wave at their neighbors
and when Melba tries to wave at her friends as

scientific study religion in society
1. Explain how this course is an example of the scientific study religion in society.
This course can be seen as an example of a scientific study of religion due to the fact that
throughout this course we have examined the study of religion as social scientists examining
different aspects of culture value and beliefs. The critical analysis of different religions within
society is an objective scientific study that provides insight onto other cultures globally.

For many Canadians, hockey is more than just a sport; it is a way of life. One main ceremony that
unites Canadians and mobilizes them in pursuit of common goals could be the Olympic hockey
games. This is a time where Canadians gather and cheer for our country to win gold. Although
many Canadians have different views on the best NHL team, one thing most Canadians can agree
on is the support of the Canadian Hockey Team.
9. Deepa Mehta is critical of popular culture that represents India as either a begging bowl or
spiritual wonderland, yet some critics have said that she does the same thing in her films. From
what you know of her films, in what ways could Mehta be seen as guilty of representing only a
begging bowl or spiritual wonderland version of India?
Deepa Mehta s films show India the way she believes depicts the true India, and not the India that
westerners believe is a begging bowl or a spiritual wonderland. Although she attempts to create
films that do not show India for those two conceptions, in her films it is clear that these
conceptions are somewhat relevant in India. Although her films show these aspects, she does not
dwell on them as negatives or conclude that this is all India has to offer, as some films that are
westernized tend to do.

Slaves In The Middle Passage
In the Middle Passage (during which the slaves were transported to America) the slaves were
treated as anything but equal. There were a few ways to initially become a slave, including
being an indentured servant, or even being forcibly taken from your country. Once on the
Guineaman the slaves had different privileges, the men were shackled two by two to each other
and the women and children were free to wander about the ship during the day. Often times the
women were considered fair game for the sailors. The living conditions were subpar and the
slaves were forced to clean the living and sleeping quarters. The sleeping quarters were very small.
Sometimes if there wasn t enough water for every slave to drink then they just threw some slaves

Social Deviance Definition Essay
Merriam Webster defines straying or deviating especially from an accepted norm (dictionary). In
sociology, deviant behavior is a act that society, or the mass popular, thinks is unusual or different.
For a behavior to be considered deviant it must violate a social rule, prove disapproval, or be a
form of positive deviance. Deviant behavior can range from tattoo, unnatural dyed hair, criminology
, completing math in pen, domestic violence, to listening to punk music. Sociologyis about revealing
patterns and identifying underlining forces (TB).
As stated above, deviance can be anything that is different than society s definition of normal.
There are rules in place that the mass population upholds; there are means in place to ensure that
those rules are followed, ie. police, teachers, etc. Erkison brings a very valid point to the
dissuasion on societal deviance, Although we no longer attend public hangings or observe
people held in stockades, we are aware of the way society punishes (or fails to punish) deviant acts;
in so doing we continually redraw the social boundaries of acceptability (Erickson 17). He states
that the social rules that we follow are are developed by those who rule, or have power. ... Show

Alcohol Expectancy Theory
The purpose of this study is to investigate undergraduates expectancies of consuming alcohol on its
own and consuming alcohol combined with energy drinks. An individual s beliefs regarding what
will happen as a result of consuming alcohol are referred to as Alcohol Expectancies (Brown,
Goldman, Inn, Anderson, 1980). These are often tested on an scale called the Anticipated Effects of
AlcoholScale (AEAS) assessing individuals against criterion which varied in positive and
negative valence and low and high arousal (Morean, Corbin, Treat, 2012). Prior to this scale, the
alcohol expectancy theory concluded that individuals are more at risk of excessive alcohol
consumption if they believe that consuming alcohol will lead to low levels of... Show more content

Whilst Verster, Benson, and Scholey (2014) found that there were no relevant differences between
motivation behind AmED consumption and other nonalcoholic mixers in a study of 2329
Norwegian students, most studies have found that there were varying motivational factors as to
why individuals consumed alcohol mixed with energy drinks. For example, Marczinski, Fillmore,
Henges, Ramsay, Young, (2013) found an association between individuals wanting to drink more
and their AmED consumption. Supporting these findings, another study showed that individuals
often believe that consuming AmED s will have more positive outcomes, such as reducing alcohol
intoxication, although the results showed that the consumption of AmED s actually led to
increased negative outcomes (Droste et al., 2014). Alternatively AmED s being used to aid
intoxication was also reported (Cobb et al., 2013; MacKillop et al., 2012; Peacock et al., 2013a;
Pennay and Lubman, 2012). Furthermore, another study concluded that an individual s propensity
to consume alcohol mixed with energy drinks were due to a combination of motivational factors;
expectancies, beliefs, social interactions, and attitudes (Varvil Weld et al.,

A. E. Housman s To An Athlete Dying Young
Throughout time, writers have constructed wonderful pieces of artistic elegance with the stroke of
a ballpoint pen or the swift movement of a wooden pencil. Blossoming from the spark of an idea or
in relation to a personal incident, poems have always been filled with distinct characteristics that
truly make some of them exemplars of their time. Through the use of figurative language, detailed
instances of imagery, and scenes filled with symbolism, writers enhance the overall aura of these
poems, making them appeal to readers in outstanding ways. A.E. Housman s To an Athlete Dying

figurative language, imagery, and symbolism. Figurative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
E. Housman s To an Athlete Dying Young, one object is used as the prime source for
symbolism, which is the laurel described in stanza three, and later referred back to in stanza
seven. In context, Housman is referring to a laurel wreath, which is made up of glistening
leaves from a laurel tree. In the times of the ancient Greeks, laurel wreaths were awarded to
individuals who had accomplished great feats, or who had became victorious in battle or in
Olympic competitions, as well as orators and poets who had accomplished a great achievement.
When a laurel leaf is picked from its tree, it has very little time to live because it withers quickly,
and the life inside of it dies. In relation to humans, once we are picked off of the tree of life by
death, all of our happiness and glory within us dies as well. In the third stanza, Smart lad, to slip
betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers
quicker than the rose (Lines 9 12)., the laurel is being used as a symbol for the runners glory and
victory, which is being compared to the average life span of a rose. The phrase winning one s
laurels means that an athlete, scholar, or a performer has earned distinction and award in his or
her field, by dying early, Housman describes that this act of winning ones laurels is preserved. For
by dying early, the athlete will not have to go through the suffering of viewing his glory fade, and
the decaying of his laurel wreath a

How I Approach Program Development
HOW WOULD I APPROACH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Upon reading and reflecting the insight and knowledge gained from this case study my three values
for a program development and strategic analysis would be: a personal connection with the local
population, minimizing hierarchy, and enforcing accountability and transparency in the
organization. In terms of who I would work with, I favour the idea of working in a smaller
organization. I would accept funds from multilateral organizations, not the government, and I would
be working at the local level. Working in a smaller organization at the local level allows for
greater accountability and a lesser chance of conflicting motives. As previously mentioned, smaller
organizations may lead to exclusion. To prevent this I would be willing to work with like minded
small organizations to divide the population. My main interest would be cultivating a relationship
with the population. The personal connection with the population is probably the hardest task
because we are not all as willing as Roy to immerse ourselves in the community. This relationship
also relies on the population because they need to be willing to share and collaborate. This
connection is the most important because it allows for the strongest trust and the greatest
understanding of the needs in the area that we are working. It also allows us to ensure that our
endeavours for the project align with our program. Having an extensive understanding the needs

Essay about Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
Like Water For Chocolate The film, Like Water for Chocolate, represents a story through
incorporating the idea of food as feelings and expressing the woman s roles during the Mexican
Revolution. The film is a romantic comedy showing many joking ways of hard times and soft
issues and the way of life. The most striking and theme seems to be how women seem to be in
charge rather then males; during this time period, I thought that men were more likely to be the
head of the household and in charge.
Throughout the film, the main overall theme is that a woman had an illegitimate daughter with
someone while she was married, her husband left her, and she was alone with three girls and the
youngest, Tita, was to never marry because she was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To take light of the film there were many comical parts, that seemed unlikely considering the
nature of the film. When Tita cooked, her feelings came through in her food. She felt bad when
her sister married, so when she made her cake, everyone became sick. Rosura always had gas from
what Tita made to eat and bad breath. Tita received roses from Pedro, she made quail and rose petal
soup to show him her love and then everyone who ate it was having almost sexual feelings. It was
ridiculous to comprehend because everyone was feeling how she was though her food and no one
gets like that in real life.
Tita s sister Gertrudis, ran off with revolutionaries and her mother basically sinned her and made
everyone forget of her existence. She burned pictures, papers and her birth certificate to make it
official, she also told her two daughters to not have any contact with her. Gertrudis comes back
later in the film to show another comical part, she s now a general for the revolutionaries. She
orders one of the soldiers around, like a man, but yet she is a woman. This is putting another
woman s role into a different hand, because I ve never heard of any women being generals or
anywhere high in the ranks. None of her soldiers are female, she is the only one within the group,
yet she is the general, if the mother only knew! The mother dies in the film because of her
stubborness. She doesn t like the

1.What do you think is the clinical importance of the FVC and FEV1 values? FVC measures the
amount of gases expelled when a subject takes a deep breath, then exhales maximally. While FEV1
determines the amount of air expelled during the first second. Why do you think the ratio of these
two values is important to the clinician when diagnosing lung disease? Because it is a determining
factor as to whether the patient has healthy lungs, pulmonary disease, or restrictive disease.

Analysis Of The World We Have Lost
History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the
past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter
Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre
industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history.
Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife,
children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked
together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men
ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of
related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the
past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for
a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the
best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I
am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely
different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would be raised to inherit my father
s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my life would basically be
decided before I was born. The power of choice is

Reflection On Educational Lesson
This lesson was taught September 25, 2017. It was the introductory lesson for my first grade,
SPAT Science unit about the sun, moon and stars. My science lesson time slot is split into two 30
minute time segments. During the first segment, I did a unit pre assessment with the students. This
reflection video was taken during the second time slot, at the end of the day. I chose this lesson for
reflecting because at first glance, it appears that it went fine. But, after viewing my video choices it
is my opinion, especially for this lesson, that I might have gotten better results had I arranged things
differently.
First off, before I started teaching my SPAT lessons, I didn t really realize that I needed to plan
as if this teaching time was actually 20 minutes, so the kids have enough time to clean up and
prepare to go home. So, after getting through this first lesson, I realized that I had over planned
this time of day. If I knew how quickly it was going to go by, and that I was going to have to
eliminate something, I would have prioritized the components of my lesson differently. Especially
when I consider my overall goal for my first SPAT lesson day.
To orient and focused the students to the unit s topics I began the lesson by reading the learning
targets with the students. The learning targets referred to becoming familiar with the concept of a
textbook, considering what students already know about the sun, moon and stars and learning to
think like a scientist. Then,

from the use of the internet to convey the syllabus and distance education. It is characterized by the
physical state of teacher student relationship that is affected by the geographical separation and in
some situations also time separation. Ideally distance learning is normal learning only in a non
conventional manner. It is mostly offered by established institution thus the materials used for the
traditional method of learning are similar to those used in the program only that it may be

Wuthering Heights Mood
Wuthering Heights takes place during 1750 1802 in Northern England. The setting is important
because it sets the tone for the novel and shows the relationship between the two houses. It also
helps the reader understand the culture of that era. If it were changed it would change the theme
and mood throughout the story. For instance, if Wuthering Heightstook place in modern day Los
Angeles the story would change drastically. The setting portrays the time periods culture, even
slight differences between methods of communication, social status, and lifestyle would play a big
role on the story being told.
Emily BrontГ« described Wuthering Heights as being a significant provincial adjective... (BrontГ«

The Theme Of Tragedy In The House Of Mirth

The House of Mirth is a novel that condemns the elitist world of women and promotes the idea
that money can t buy happiness. Wharton wanted to present American aristocracy when that
aristocracy was doing so well. The novel highlights each aspect of a person s social behavior
because each detail can have implications. Wharton wanted to mock the society, but also to show
the tragedies in it. Wharton considered New York society to be arrogant, trivial, and ridiculous.
The burden of tragedy to her often a humorous bitter satire of the ways of the wealthy is related

STUDIES Genetic engineering has been impossible until recent times due to the complex and
microscopic nature of DNA and its component nucleotides. Through progressive studies, more and
more in this area is being made possible.
Genetic engineering may be one of the greatest inventions in recent history along with the discovery
of the atom and space flight, however, governments have produced legislation to control what sort
of experiments are done involving genetic engineering. In the UK there are strict laws prohibiting
any experiments involving the cloning of humans. However, over the years here are some of the
experimental breakthroughs made possible by genetic engineering. * At the Roslin Institute in
Scotland, scientists successfully cloned an exact copy of a sheep, named Dolly . This was the first
successful cloning of an animal, and most likely the first occurrence of two organisms being
genetically identical. Note : Recently the sheep s health has deteriorated detrimentally * Scientists

How Personality Conflicts And Individual Differences Had...
In my analysis of the Jieliang Phone Home case group project, I am going to focus on how
personality conflicts and individual differences had affected our final delivered product. Using
research and analysis of the faults in my group, I am going to show that lack of communication,
dysfunctional conflicts and more, has caused our group to underperform. Research showed that
traits of the big five has a different influence on team performance. The relationships between traits
like agreeableness and conscientiousness are highly important for teamwork environment and these
relationships will help to understand what actions are harmful for team performance and what team
environment is desired to maximize team performance. The research helped... Show more content

The first time the group met was just after we were divided into groups. This meeting was to set
up goals and discuss how we are going to handle this case. The second meeting was after all team
members read the case and we were meeting to divide work and set responsibilities for each
group member. The third meeting was after the class in which we got further instructions on
what the professor is looking for in our presentations and reports. In this meeting, we have set
new responsibilities and divided new responsibilities for each member. The fourth meeting was
during reading week where each team member uploaded his part of the project and we went
through what should we add or remove from the project. The fifth and last meeting was on the last
weekend before handing in the project and it also was the day where the video was prepared (See
Exhibit 2). Between meetings the group communicated through GroupMe app and shared files
through Google Drive and Google Mail (Gmail). Firstly, examining the nature of the meetings and
the communication between the group members will help to understand what factors have limited
the team s performance. The main factor that had a negative effect on the team performance was
the communication process. During and between meetings, the discussion was led by students 4
and 5. Early in the group work, new ideas that were presented by students 1, 2 and 3 were denied
by students 4 and 5. This type of incidents that had

Friedman s View On Corporate Social Responsibility
Friedman s View on Corporate Social Responsibility The answer to the questions of Why does a
business exist? and What purposes does/should it serve within society? are not agreed upon by all.
The concept that companies having social obligations beyond their economic benefit is
controversial (Chandler Werther Jr., 2014). This paper will briefly examine the viewpoint of the
well known economist, Milton Friedman, whose assertions have been very influential in the debate
surrounding corporate social responsibility(CSR). Arguments, both in support of, and against
Friedman s assertions, will be presented along with examples of two organizations having
contrasting attitudes regarding CSR. Lastly, the paper will examine three organizations whose
literal adherence to Friedman s view has led to the rationalization of unethical behaviors.
Friedman s Assertion Milton Friedman, a well known and often cited Nobel Prize winning
economist, asserted that the sole social responsibility of business is to increase profits (as cited in
Chandler Werther Jr., 2014, p 5). Friedman believed that financial success and profit maximization
are the only justification needed for the existence of a business; the resultant positive economic
contribution is the value provided to society and, thus, its only social responsibility. He believed
that the notion that companies are socially responsible, or obligated, to fulfill any other role is a
deterrent to the true purpose of business in a free

The Film Precious by Lee Daniels Essay
When you think of the word poverty or poor what comes to mind? Some think of hunger,
minorities, dirty areas, women, and homeless people. What about when you hear the term abuse ?
For most people, abuse means physical; getting beat up or hit. Although abuse can mean getting
beat up or hit, there is far more that follows. Abuse can take on many forms like physical,
emotional or sexual. The filmPrecious by Lee Daniels, based on the novel Push by Sapphire,
encounters not only the obvious sexual abuse but physical and emotional abuse as well. Precious
starts off with Claireece Precious Jones, played by Gabourey Sidibe, at her school in Harlem. She

These stereotypes are very disadvantaging to the African Americanrace because they are putting out
messages that you have to look a certain way to be attractive.
Although this film is disadvantaging to many people, it is also very beneficial. I think people
that come from the lower class or an abusive household can really benefit from this film. The
main point of this film is to show people that you can achieve anything you want to do no matter
what background you come from, and although it might be hard because of economical
/ personal issues you are not less of a person than anyone and you can still be successful. I love
the idea of success because it doesn t really have a set definition. You don t necessarily need
money to be/feel successful. You can work at Subway and still be successful while a twelve time
Oscar winning actor can be successful. You sort of carve out your own success and make your
own definition for it. This movie will also teach people that they are not on their own. Although
you might think nobody is there for you, when you enter a room you don t know what everyone
is thinking or how everyone feels; you might now even know everyone. It is kind of like when
you re putting together a puzzle, you put certain pieces together and you get closer to finishing
and you just need to keep trying to solve the puzzle because if you give up you just wasted your
money on a puzzle

Hybohydrates Essay
The relative is exhibiting the symptoms and signs of low blood glucose levels (hypoglycaemia)
together with the body s attempts to compensate for this. Part of this response includes activation
of the stress system and its hormones which would explain the fast heart rate and shaking. Eating
sweets (a source of glucose) reverses this hypoglycaemia and relieves the symptoms. The process
of maintaining normal blood glucose levels (70mg/dl) involves a negative feedback system
involving several hormones[1]. In response to low blood glucose: pancreatic a cells secrete
glucagon, a hormone necessary for the lysis of glycogen to glucose (glycogenolysis) and the
production of glucose from other, non carbohydrate sources, such as fat and protein... Show more

In response to the attack, the b cells undergo cell apoptosis, reducing the quantity of insulin and
therefore increasing blood glucose levels depending on how many beta cells have been
destroyed. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed at a young age, cannot be prevented and cannot
be controlled without insulin supplements. Conversely, type 2 diabetes results from prolonged
exposure to high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia 70mg/dl), which causes tissues to become
resistant to insulin over time. Type 2 diabetes can occur because of genetics and poor diet
/lifestyle. It is usually diagnosed later in life and can sometimes be reversed with appropriate
lifestyle and dietary changes (i.e. exercise and healthy eating)[4]. Reduced levels of insulin mean
that blood glucose increases past the set point. This is dangerous as it can cause damage to the
eyes, kidneys, nerves, skin, heart, and blood vessels[5]. While diabetes is often associated with
high blood glucose, a consequence of poor self medication and impractical lifestyle habits can cause
another, equally serious condition known as hypoglycemia (blood glucose 70mg/dl). Symptoms
include hunger, shaking, nervousness, sweating, dizziness or light headedness, sleepiness,
confusion, difficulty speaking, anxiety, weakness[6]. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetics can take
insulin to replenish loss/lack of their own b cell production, although this is more common in type 1

The Marketing Of Cvs Health Operates
Industry Overview:
The industry that CVS Health operates in is characterized as, the Retail Drugstore industry.
Companies that operate in this industry offer a wide variety of goods and services such as
prescription medication through their in store pharmacy, over the counter medications, health and
beauty items, toiletries, grocery goods, photo processing, and basic health services. This industry
includes retail stores with a pharmacy and excludes mail order retailers, hospitals and clinics.
Some hospitals and clinics offer their own pharmacy to their patients on site to cut out retail stores
such as CVS Health. Hospitals and clinics that offer such services to their patients can be
considered substitutes to a drugstore s pharmacy. Also, to fulfill their health and beauty, grocery,
and toiletry needs, consumers can choose to go to Wal Mart or Target.
The retail drugstore industry became common in the United States around the 50 year period of
1870 1920. Before drugstores became prevalent, physicians would dispense medication themselves
at their office. Once drugstores were invented, physician dispensing declined as drugstores could
dispense medication and offered customers a soda fountain. However, owners of drugstores made
most of their money from selling tobacco and soda rather than their medication (1).
Drugstores have evolved greatly over the years due to increasing competition. By 1990, the
drugstore business was changing in various ways. Demographically, there

A Hero of Social Justice

Abstract In our world today, and throughout the times before us, there have been people who
have chosen to step forward and defend the rights of others. These people are heroes of Social
Justice. Men like John Lennon, conspire to change our world and the lives of those who live in
it by spreading a message of peace and fighting for our rights. As a young boy Lennon was
fascinated with music and had little interest in school or being the perfect child. He quickly
discovered his artistic talents and by the age of 16, had made his own band. From there, his musical
talent expanded and the band The Beatles erupted as a popular rock band. Lennon used his music to

that religion is the opiate of the masses and presumably endorses the view that it should be

The Importance Of Individualism In Society
Being an individual means to be free from society. Mark Twain portrays in his satiric novel, The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, published in 1884 in the Antebellum South in Mississippi, 14
year old protagonist exposes the immorality of white society. The author s purpose is to criticize
the racism, slavery, and the hypocrisy that existed in the white civilized society in order to enact
social change. Walt Whitmanportrays in his free verse poem Song Of Myself from the collection
Leaves Of Grass published in 1855 that everyone in the universe has a purpose and that purpose
is to be a part of nature. Whitman might express the idea to Twain that everyone in the pre Civil
War era is a part of nature and find solutions from it; therefore everyone has to value nature because
it represents the higher power. James McPherson, author of The Best Government on God s
Footstool, claims in his historical account, What We Fought For, during the Civil War is that why
did they fight. McPherson wrote similarly as Whitman in his writing, What We Fought For, that
informed his readers that both sides fought for their own way of freedom and both had equal
sacrifices. During a time of cultural turmoil the text made by Twain, Whitman and McPherson
expresses ideas of individualism and society when an individual does not conform to society s
expectations during the 19th century.
In Mark Twains The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn, Twain s character Huck thinks freedom is
more important that

Difference Between Hiring A Professional
Graphic Design
Many assume that the only difference between hiring a professional to handle graphic design and
doing the work on their own is the price. Nothing is further from the truth, as the average person
doesn t have the skills needed to create a professional image, one that truly reflects the business
and its values in a positive light. A professional design goes above and beyond attracting the
attention of the viewer. It provides a call to action, encouraging the viewer to purchase the product
or service, yet many don t recognize this. They assume a logo or another design is nothing more
than a symbol of the company, but it is much more, and our designers understand this.
With the help of professional graphic design, companies find it easier to share their message with
the customer. Individuals continue to be bombarded by advertising messages everywhere they
look, and a professional design helps to attract attention in a crowded field while also providing the
customer with information about the company. Although these may not seem of importance to the
average person, technical aspects such as bleeding and cropping do play a role in the customer s
perception of the brand. They don t realize this, but it is truly the case. Our team of graphic
designers is familiar with these and other techniques and use them where appropriate to convey the
desired message.
Most importantly, graphic design involves more than creating a logo. Layout and production design

Southern Colonies Economy Analysis
Out of each colonial region, the southern region was undoubtedly the most significant. Their
economy was the most prosperous, and their social and political aspects set precedents for other
colonies and other people. Other colonies began to be cognizant of the way their economy was run,
the things that happened in society, and the laws that were passed, and gained inspiration. As
prosperous and influential the southern colonies were, there are negative contributions the south
made that get overlooked such as slavery. The southern colonies were economically prosperous, as
well as socially and politically precedential, but their contributions of slavery had a detrimental
effect that is still felt today. In the 16th and 17th centuries the southern colonies had one of the
most prosperous economies in the world. The southern colonies prosperous economy was based on
agriculture, cash crops, and slavery. Out of each colonial group the southern colony had the largest
slave population. These slaves tirelessly worked mainly on cotton, tobacco, grains, and vegetables.

Subject: Financial Incentives to Expand Solar Power Adoption in the United States
Recommended Action
The lack of a nationwide solar power policy, alongside significant technical hurdles, hinders the
progress of renewable energy across the United States of America. Strengthen national policies by
introducing financial incentives for research, development, and manufacturing that tackle technical
challenges to the growth of renewable energy. Incentives such as tax breaks, low interest rate loans,
and grants will allow the renewable energy sector to implement cost effective solutions and be and

In addition, expanding the solar energy industry will spur job growth. Consumers want to adopt
solar energy because its price is less vulnerable than many other energy sources, like petroleum, to
global politics. Limited solar energy storage technologies present the main technical challenge of
solar. Current battery capacities are inadequate to store captured solar energy. Moreover, seasonal
variability in solar radiation and power demand peaks require the provision of adequate storage to
make solar power a practical, large scale energy source. It is also difficult to connect solar energy
to the current grids in America. The regulatory challenges involve governing access to the power
grid, creating and implementing legal structures for local ownership, and protecting local owners
against larger utility companies concerned with their market share.
By focusing on grid parity and technical challenges through financial incentives, the United States
will increase its usage of and benefits derived from solar energy usage. The financial incentives
support both consumers and suppliers to adopt and develop solar energy. If the new solar energy
supplies cost the same or less than previous energy because of these incentives achieving grid
parity then consumers will have fewer reasons not to switch to solar energy. If suppliers can

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service is charged with the management of fish, wildlife,

the natural resources of the United States fifty nine national parks (Allgov, 2017). The

In this essay the recent fashion of Weibo in Chinese media is discussed, especially on the Chinese
authorities and government s attitude towards it, moreover and more importantly, the way of how
Weibo is being censored is explained.
According to previous theories, internet cannot be regarded as a safe and free place for ideas and

The changes that took place in the Chinese cyberspace had made Chinese political leaders realize,
that it would be unwise to refuse this trend of civic need. Nevertheless real reforms could never
have happened if the government did not give permissions.
In July 2009, Twitter was officially blocked by the Chinese government, this date is near to a riot
in Xinjiang province, not long after the Twitter, the first Chinese edition of Twitter: Fanfou was

One month after the riot and the blocking, on the 14th of August 2009, the close data of Weibo
appeared. 2 month later there were a million user already, and a year later this figure grew to 20
million. Today there is approximately 250 million users on Weibo, this means another milestone
for Sina and the Chinese government. And new forms of media may have already surpassed the
traditional method of media censorship and control (McNair, 2006). Does it mean a better
environment of free speech as Chinese Prime Minister had claimed, or is it just a new way of
media censorship, on a larger and more invisible scale?
Weibo changed the traditional way of news dissemination, many argue that it is a huge

strange thing that happened may very well happen in the future. The first special affect that I
would like to talk about is the gun shots and light sabers. When ever the guns where fired there
would be a streak of light representing the bullet. I would this very unrealistic, because in real life a

Both protagonists were passionately determined to find the truth.
? Both were impulsive.
? Both had immense self pride, but
? Ultimately, both were good natured.
? They seek revenge for their fathers (although this is ironic in Oedipus Rex)
? Although O s arrogance may have led to his downfall, it is their impulsiveness that does in each
man: O s decree of exile parallels the gods requirements, but Hamlet s stabbing of Ophelia s father
right after NOT stabbing Claudius means that, in the grand scheme of things, he will have to die
rather than assume the throne.
? Both plays are tragedies that result from behind the scenes machinations the gods plot against O s
family because of Laius, while King Hamlet s brother plots against him.
? Perhaps the vivid imagery of poison in Hamlet parallels the curse in the family blood in Greek
tragedies in Oedipus Rex.
? Both plays are written in highly poetic language.

Standard Argument Against The Identity Theory
1. Introduction
In the present essay, I will refute the standard argument of multiple realization against the identity
theory of mind. The currently predominant view in philosophy of mind is that mental states are
multiply realized by distinct physical states; this is the first premise of the standard argument. The
second premise states that multiple realization is inconsistent with the identity theory. It therefore
concludes that the identity theory is false. This essay will challenge both premises of the standard
argument. Initially allowing the first premise, I will argue that multiple realization is not
conceptually inconsistent with the identity theory. To achieve this, I will outline the enduring
relevance of Lewis critique and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Challenging the Second Premise of the Standard Argument
As alluded to earlier, there is a common distinction drawn in the literature between two types of
multiple realization. The first type states that the same psychological states are realized across
distinct physical structures via distinct mechanisms. In other words, any species that plausibly
experiences mental state, MВЎ, experience the same type of mental state, MВЎ, via distinct
physical type structures and MВЎ is thus multiply realized. Lewis (1969) influentially argued that
this is not inconsistent with the identity theory of mind however.
Lewis emphasises the importance of context and the relativity it grants the claims of the identity
theorist. To illustrate the point I will use the universally employed example of pain in conjunction
with the now defunct notion of C fibre firing, and a hypothetical notion of D fibre firing. Consider
the following three statements:
1.There is only one physical realization of the mental state pain.
2.The mental state of pain is realized by and identical to the firing of C fibres in the central nervous

DVDs sent home through U.S. Postal Service, being a huge customer for USPS they have formed
a alliance with USPS to get benefits. They worked with USPS not only to reduce charges but
saving times as the Netflix envelopes were not returned to the original distribution centre but to the
closest ones.
Netflix also became a source of adverstisement for films not on huge budgets in helping creating
awareness about the movies. PROBLEM VOD VOD, which refers to Video on Demand, is the
recent video streaming technology where pay per view programming merges with Internet
downloading. Netflix has the challenge of entering VOD market or not and how that would alter
its business structure and strategy as its purpose was to allow best home video viewing to its
customers. As Netflix faces serious competition from its competitors including Blockbuster, Disney
etc the decision is critical to not only profitability but also survival as the question is how should
Netflix enter the online video market? Any decision made on this issue would impact not just the
Netflix existing business model but its ability to sustain its position as a giant in the media industry.
Also its competitors have started

Under Armour Is An American Athletic Apparel Brand
Where They Are
________________________________________
Under Armour is an American athletic apparel brand that was established in 1996, and has been
increasing their product offering and outreach ever since. While known as a premium brand in the
US, Under Armour still has little global outreach in comparison to its competitors. However, with
the slowly increasing brand awareness and their expanding product offering, Under Armour has
continued to gain more and more market share. However, in comparison to their close
competitors, Nike and Adidas, Under Armour is still a relatively new brand in the industry and has
a long way to go before they can be competitively on the same level as their competitors in markets
outside of North America.
The brand lives by its mission statement of to make all athletes better through passion, design and
the relentless pursuit of innovation and their well known vision statement of Empower Athletes,

Fixed Rate Mortgage Loans
When shopping for a mortgage loan, the first thing to consider is which type of mortgage is
right for you. Mortgage loans come in two basic categories, fixed rate and adjustable rate; but
within these two categories, there are several other possible loan types that many consumers
mistakenly don t take the proper time to educate themselves about. In this article, we will be
addressing fixed rate loans. Most people know what the terms of a fixed rate mortgage entails;
basically, the interest rate remains stable over the life of the loan. Fixed rate loans generally
come in both a 15 year and 30 year term. Recently, some lenders also began offer both 10 year
and 40 year terms as well. So which term is better? That really depends on the borrower. Shorter
terms will have a higher payment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The payment on this loan for a 30 year, fixed rate loan would be $536.82 per month. Generally,
the shorter the term the lower the rate, so the payment for the same $100,000 loan on a 15 year,
fixed rate at an interest rate of 4.75% would be $777.83 per month or $241.01 higher than the 30
year loan. Some people that can afford the 15 year rate might opt to pay the extra $241.01 and
pay off their mortgage in half the time, the only problem with this is once you sign up for the 15
year term you must make this payment each and every month. If the extra $241.01 becomes
difficult to make no matter what the reason, the only way to reduce the payment is to refinance
the property. However, knowing this loan has no prepayment penalty in part means if you opt
for the lower, 30 year payment, you are still free to pay the extra $241.01 every month if you can
afford it. Even at the higher rate of 5%, if you paid the $777.83 each month, the 30 year loan
would be paid off in full in 15 years and 5 months. However, if at anytime you couldn t afford the
extra $241.01, there would be no penalty and you could avoid the cost of refinancing

Analysis Of `` Daddy `` By Sylvia Plath
Imagine growing up with a father so cruel, he haunts you far beyond his death. Well, in the poem
Daddy , this nightmare is a reality. The speaker of the poem is nearly 30 years old before she can
finally put her demons to rest. Her father has left her in ruins, unable to maintain a healthy mind or
a stable life. Sylvia Plath paints this vivid picture of this nightmare using a number of allusions.
While Plath begins the poem with childish, innocent allusions, she soon switches to horrid
references of the Holocaust and demons to depict the evil of the speaker s father.
After switching from her allusion to a fairytale, the speaker begins her allusion to the Holocaust,
calling herself a Jew. Following her introduction to this allusion, she references the snows of the
Tyrol and the clear beer of Vienna and says they Are not very pure or true. The speaker uses
satire in this line to parallel her father s expectations to a Nazi s. Vienna and Tyrol border
Germany and the speaker satirically says that the clear beer of Vienna and the snows of Tyrol
are not very pure. The Nazis viewed the people of these places as lesser because they did not fit
the Nazis ideals. The speaker uses this comparison to reveal that her father treated her as a Nazi
treats a Jew. In the upcoming stanzas, she again uses the allusion to Nazi Germany. She says, Not
God but a swastika. Referring back to her earlier line where she calls her father a bag full of God ,
Plath reverses the speakers tone

Pharaoh rose to power in Egypt thinking he could use them to his benefit and the city s benefit, all while trying to reduce the number inhabiting the powerful city, while God wanted to free his people from the oppression occurring in Egypt. Pharaoh took the throne in Egypt only to come to quick conclusions. The pharaoh stated, See! The Israelite people have multiplied...let us deal shrewdly with them to stop their increase (Ex. 1:9 10). The epidemiological triangle has three vertices: the microbe that causes the disease (agent), the organism harboring the disease (host), and the external factors that allow the disease transmissions (environment) ( CDC, n.d.) They were called the Little Rock Nine because there were nine young black students, who were the first to integrate Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Little Rock Nine were important in the Civil Rights movement because they were the first black students to be allowed to attend an all white high school. There are numerous stories and documentation of the events that took place at Little Rock s Central High School and Melba Pattillo Beal, who was a part of the Little Rock Nine group, autobiography is a very vivid emotional writing. The most important piece of historical information that Beal s Warriors Don t Cry provides about the integration of Little Rock Central High Schoolis the emotional toll that the integration brought on the students and their community. This is the most important piece of historical information provided by Warriors because it is told from a first person point of view, and it reveals how difficult it was for blacks and whites to accept integration and how far they were willing to go to put an end to it. Deepa Mehta s films show India the way she believes depicts the true India, and not the India that westerners believe is a begging bowl or a spiritual wonderland. Although she attempts to create films that do not show India for those two conceptions, in her films it is clear that these conceptions are somewhat relevant in India. • 8. Social Deviance Definition Essay Merriam Webster defines straying or deviating especially from an accepted norm (dictionary). In sociology, deviant behavior is a act that society, or the mass popular, thinks is unusual or different. For a behavior to be considered deviant it must violate a social rule, prove disapproval, or be a form of positive deviance. Deviant behavior can range from tattoo, unnatural dyed hair, criminology , completing math in pen, domestic violence, to listening to punk music. Sociologyis about revealing patterns and identifying underlining forces (TB). As stated above, deviance can be anything that is different than society s definition of normal. There are rules in place that the mass population upholds; there are means in place to ensure that those rules are followed, ie. police, teachers, etc. Erkison brings a very valid point to the dissuasion on societal deviance, Although we no longer attend public hangings or observe people held in stockades, we are aware of the way society punishes (or fails to punish) deviant acts; in so doing we continually redraw the social boundaries of acceptability (Erickson 17). These are often tested on an scale called the Anticipated Effects of AlcoholScale (AEAS) assessing individuals against criterion which varied in positive and negative valence and low and high arousal (Morean, Corbin, Treat, 2012). For example, Marczinski, Fillmore, Henges, Ramsay, Young, (2013) found an association between individuals wanting to drink more and their AmED consumption. Supporting these findings, another study showed that individuals often believe that consuming AmED s will have more positive outcomes, such as reducing alcohol intoxication, although the results showed that the consumption of AmED s actually led to increased negative outcomes (Droste et al., 2014). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... E. Housman s To an Athlete Dying Young, one object is used as the prime source for symbolism, which is the laurel described in stanza three, and later referred back to in stanza seven. In context, Housman is referring to a laurel wreath, which is made up of glistening leaves from a laurel tree. In the times of the ancient Greeks, laurel wreaths were awarded to individuals who had accomplished great feats, or who had became victorious in battle or in Olympic competitions, as well as orators and poets who had accomplished a great achievement. When a laurel leaf is picked from its tree, it has very little time to live because it withers quickly, and the life inside of it dies. In relation to humans, once we are picked off of the tree of life by death, all of our happiness and glory within us dies as well. In the third stanza, Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose (Lines 9 12)., the laurel is being used as a symbol for the runners glory and victory, which is being compared to the average life span of a rose. The phrase winning one s laurels means that an athlete, scholar, or a performer has earned distinction and award in his or her field, by dying early, Housman describes that this act of winning ones laurels is preserved. • 13. How I Approach Program Development HOW WOULD I APPROACH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Upon reading and reflecting the insight and knowledge gained from this case study my three values for a program development and strategic analysis would be: a personal connection with the local population, minimizing hierarchy, and enforcing accountability and transparency in the organization. In terms of who I would work with, I favour the idea of working in a smaller organization. I would accept funds from multilateral organizations, not the government, and I would be working at the local level. Working in a smaller organization at the local level allows for greater accountability and a lesser chance of conflicting motives. As previously mentioned, smaller organizations may lead to exclusion. To prevent this I would be willing to work with like minded small organizations to divide the population. My main interest would be cultivating a relationship with the population. The personal connection with the population is probably the hardest task because we are not all as willing as Roy to immerse ourselves in the community. This relationship also relies on the population because they need to be willing to share and collaborate. This connection is the most important because it allows for the strongest trust and the greatest understanding of the needs in the area that we are working. It also allows us to ensure that our endeavours for the project align with our program. Having an extensive understanding the needs specific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film is a romantic comedy showing many joking ways of hard times and soft issues and the way of life. The most striking and theme seems to be how women seem to be in charge rather then males; during this time period, I thought that men were more likely to be the head of the household and in charge. When Tita cooked, her feelings came through in her food. She felt bad when her sister married, so when she made her cake, everyone became sick. Rosura always had gas from what Tita made to eat and bad breath. Tita received roses from Pedro, she made quail and rose petal soup to show him her love and then everyone who ate it was having almost sexual feelings. It was ridiculous to comprehend because everyone was feeling how she was though her food and no one gets like that in real life. Tita s sister Gertrudis, ran off with revolutionaries and her mother basically sinned her and made everyone forget of her existence. She burned pictures, papers and her birth certificate to make it official, she also told her two daughters to not have any contact with her. Gertrudis comes back later in the film to show another comical part, she s now a general for the revolutionaries. She orders one of the soldiers around, like a man, but yet she is a woman. This is putting another woman s role into a different hand, because I ve never heard of any women being generals or anywhere high in the ranks. • 16. Analysis Of The World We Have Lost History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my life would basically be decided before I was born. This reflection video was taken during the second time slot, at the end of the day. I chose this lesson for reflecting because at first glance, it appears that it went fine. The concept that companies having social obligations beyond their economic benefit is controversial (Chandler Werther Jr., 2014). This paper will briefly examine the viewpoint of the well known economist, Milton Friedman, whose assertions have been very influential in the debate surrounding corporate social responsibility(CSR). Arguments, both in support of, and against Friedman s assertions, will be presented along with examples of two organizations having contrasting attitudes regarding CSR. Lastly, the paper will examine three organizations whose literal adherence to Friedman s view has led to the rationalization of unethical behaviors. Friedman s Assertion Milton Friedman, a well known and often cited Nobel Prize winning economist, asserted that the sole social responsibility of business is to increase profits (as cited in Chandler Werther Jr., 2014, p 5). Friedman believed that financial success and profit maximization are the only justification needed for the existence of a business; the resultant positive economic contribution is the value provided to society and, thus, its only social responsibility. Reduced levels of insulin mean that blood glucose increases past the set point. This is dangerous as it can cause damage to the eyes, kidneys, nerves, skin, heart, and blood vessels[5]. While diabetes is often associated with high blood glucose, a consequence of poor self medication and impractical lifestyle habits can cause another, equally serious condition known as hypoglycemia (blood glucose 70mg/dl). Symptoms include hunger, shaking, nervousness, sweating, dizziness or light headedness, sleepiness, confusion, difficulty speaking, anxiety, weakness[6]. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetics can take insulin to replenish loss/lack of their own b cell production, although this is more common in type 1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before drugstores became prevalent, physicians would dispense medication themselves at their office. Once drugstores were invented, physician dispensing declined as drugstores could dispense medication and offered customers a soda fountain. However, owners of drugstores made most of their money from selling tobacco and soda rather than their medication (1). Drugstores have evolved greatly over the years due to increasing competition. John Lennon Essay A Hero of Social Justice Isaac Abstract In our world today, and throughout the times before us, there have been people who have chosen to step forward and defend the rights of others. These people are heroes of Social Justice. Men like John Lennon, conspire to change our world and the lives of those who live in it by spreading a message of peace and fighting for our rights. As a young boy Lennon was fascinated with music and had little interest in school or being the perfect child. He quickly discovered his artistic talents and by the age of 16, had made his own band. Mark Twain portrays in his satiric novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, published in 1884 in the Antebellum South in Mississippi, 14 year old protagonist exposes the immorality of white society. The author s purpose is to criticize the racism, slavery, and the hypocrisy that existed in the white civilized society in order to enact social change. Walt Whitmanportrays in his free verse poem Song Of Myself from the collection Leaves Of Grass published in 1855 that everyone in the universe has a purpose and that purpose is to be a part of nature. James McPherson, author of The Best Government on God s Footstool, claims in his historical account, What We Fought For, during the Civil War is that why did they fight. McPherson wrote similarly as Whitman in his writing, What We Fought For, that informed his readers that both sides fought for their own way of freedom and both had equal sacrifices. Difference Between Hiring A Professional Graphic Design Many assume that the only difference between hiring a professional to handle graphic design and doing the work on their own is the price. Nothing is further from the truth, as the average person doesn t have the skills needed to create a professional image, one that truly reflects the business and its values in a positive light. A professional design goes above and beyond attracting the attention of the viewer. It provides a call to action, encouraging the viewer to purchase the product or service, yet many don t recognize this. They assume a logo or another design is nothing more than a symbol of the company, but it is much more, and our designers understand this. With the help of professional graphic design, companies find it easier to share their message with the customer. Individuals continue to be bombarded by advertising messages everywhere they look, and a professional design helps to attract attention in a crowded field while also providing the customer with information about the company. Although these may not seem of importance to the average person, technical aspects such as bleeding and cropping do play a role in the customer s perception of the brand. The currently predominant view in philosophy of mind is that mental states are multiply realized by distinct physical states; this is the first premise of the standard argument. The second premise states that multiple realization is inconsistent with the identity theory. It therefore concludes that the identity theory is false. This essay will challenge both premises of the standard argument. Initially allowing the first premise, I will argue that multiple realization is not conceptually inconsistent with the identity theory. Challenging the Second Premise of the Standard Argument As alluded to earlier, there is a common distinction drawn in the literature between two types of multiple realization. Lewis (1969) influentially argued that this is not inconsistent with the identity theory of mind however. Lewis emphasises the importance of context and the relativity it grants the claims of the identity theorist.
