This presentation summarizes Beam and digital robotics. Beam robots are inspired by biology, using simple designs and reactions to stimuli rather than programming. They are durable, energy efficient and can adapt to damage. A proposed Beam robot called a Radiotrope would use solar cells, sensors to detect enemy radio signals, neural networks to avoid collisions, and a camera for navigation. It would learn to find enemy transmitters in a simulated environment and could be used for defense purposes. Digital robots are more precise but require complex programming and computing and cannot function if damaged.
