Significance of Emotional Education in Dickens Novel,...
Set in the ever shifting world of the Industrial Revolution, Charles Dickens novel Hard Times begins
with a description of a utilitarian paradise created by the illustrious and eminently practical Mr.
Gradgrind, a world that follows a prescribed set of logically laid out facts. However, readers soon
realize that Gradgrind s modern utopia is only a simulacrum, belied by the damnation of lives devoid
of elements that feed the heart and soul, as well as the mind. As the years progress, the weaknesses of
Gradgrind s carefully constructed system become painfully apparent, especially in his children Louisa
and Tom, and in the poor workers employed under one Mr. Josiah Bounderby, a wealthy factory
owner who is a subscriber to Gradgrind s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Louisa has not succumbed entirely to her father s prohibition against wondering and
imagining. Her humanity emerges gradually as the novel progresses, as the result of her warm inner
fire created by her secret fancies in otherwise her lonely, mechanized existence. As her failing and
loveless marriage to the greedy and arrogant bully of humility Bounderby takes its toll, Louisa reaches
out, first to Stephen Blackpool, an oppressed factory worker, and then to James Harthouse, a cynical,
amoral, and thrill seeking aristocrat who tries to seduce her. Here, the long denial of two vital human
forces, emotion and imagination, causes an explosive release of containment in Louisa, inflicting her
with adulterous yearnings that drives her to the brink of madness and to an eventual emotional
breakdown at her father s mercy. Nothing in Louisa s previous education has prepared her to handle
her emerging passions. She saves herself from disgrace just in time, helped by the friendship of Sissy
Jupe, who represents the wisdom of the heart ― a wisdom Louisa has never known. In the end, Louisa
s true nature finally overcomes her father s strictly scientific education, and she ends up as a mature,
generous, and humane young woman that dedicates her life to helping those less fortunate than she.
Tom, Louisa s only beacon in her completely barren life, is another dismal and pathetic product of the
Gradgrind philosophy of education. Self centered and insensitive

Google Glass, A Wearable Computing Device
Abstract
This report aims to look at how Google Glass, a wearable computing device, contributes to social and
privacy ethical implications. Ethical issues recognised in devices can question the legal rights of a
product. However, a study shows that this device may have an opportunity to enhance the quality of
the surgical industry. If so, should this device still be used amidst the ethical issues?
1 Introduction
1.1 Wearable Technology
Wearable computing is a technology device that can be worn on the human body and often includes
devices that can collect information and may even have motion detectors. Wi Fi or Bluetooth tethering
is used to connect the device with an internet connection. Evolving examples of wearable technology
include smart watches, clothing and jewellery, sports watches, fitness trackers, head mounted displays
and devices that can be implanted in the body.
1.2 Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality (AR) is technology that allows virtual objects to be layered on to the actual
environment in real time. Together, this creates a space called mixed reality. The layers allow detailed
information about the world to be visually present whilst wearing the device. AR browsers can
enhance camera display with information that is relevant to the place you are at. If you point the
device to a building, it can display the details of the building on the building.
2 Defining Ethical Implications
Ethical implications are issues that arise within the invention

Essay on Campaigns and Elections
Campaigns and Elections Political campaigns are very significant in American politics and elections.
It is the period before the electorate makes political decisions in the form of elections. The attention of
the citizens towards politics intensifies as the date of the elections draws near. The salience of voters
improves as the election date draws near and could manifest in the form of increased media attention.
Political discussions, campaign interest, strength of the intention to vote, and knowledge about the
candidates are other manifestations of increased salience of voters. Another indication of improved
intensity is the effort put by the candidates and their political parties in the campaigns. Parties increase
their efforts in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Candidates have a chance to present their ideas to the citizens through debates and other platforms that
are available for the candidates. It provides a platform for the citizens to debate important issues with
the candidates and among themselves. Reform agendas presented by the candidates result in vibrant
democratic politics, which requires the conscious participation of citizens. It provides a chance for
citizens to engage in political activity with others. Political campaigns enable the citizens to contribute
to the nomination process thus choosing the best candidate in their party. American politics involves
candidates who mostly make unambiguous statements thus conveying their message to the citizens
effectively. This means that the citizens have a solid basis on which to make decisions during the
nominations and the elections. Distortions in communication due to misstatements are reduced by the
accuracy and lack of ambiguity in information communicated the candidates (Schmidt, Shelley,
Bardes, 2009). The campaigns are effective since they result in the election of candidate with the most
promising policies and reforms. The focus of the campaigns is national and social issues, which results
in election and nomination of candidates that are nationalistic and with ideologies that are acceptable
by most of the citizens. Because of the high level of attention accorded to the campaigns and the
exposure of citizens to different forms of

Zindel s Use of Literary Devices in The Pigman Essay
Zindel had a Pigman just like John And Lorraine who helped him through his life and embraced him
to be the talented author he really is. He worked first as a technical writer at a chemical company then
as a high school chemistry teacher. As he taught he continued to write plays, Marigolds of his plays
was soon turned into a television show. A children s book editor from Harper and Row asked Zindel if
he wanted to be a writer and he accepted. He soon came out with The Pigman a Story about two
teenagers that have an unlikely friendship with an old man. Paul Zindel was born on May 15th 1936

Lorraine s cage is her mother saying that she is not beautiful; and Mr.Pignati s is the grief of his
recently deceased wife. Through their friendship they help each other come out of their cages like
Mr.Pignati complimenting on Lorraines appearance and how he appreciates John for who he is. John
and Lorraine also help Mr.Pignati by having fun with him and helping him forget about his dead wife.
They can only help each other for so long though after the party that John and Lorraine throw Lorraine
is back in her cage from the constant remarks her mother makes and the disappointment. John is also
back in his cage because he is now looked down upon from his parents for the party and his father had
higher expectations for him. Mr.Pignati is also back in his cage, after finding out that John and
Lorraine had betrayed him by throwing a party without his permission and smashing his collection of
pigs, he is back in a depression that is the worst it has ever been. The author also uses the monkeys in
the zoo to describe their relationship. There are three monkeys in particular in the zoo that just keep on
hugging each other. We must have looked just like three monkeys. The Pigman, John, and me three
funny little monkeys (Zindel, 8). Most of the symbolism happens in the zoo; which is a very important
place for the pigman. Zindel also uses lots of foreshadowing in his book. In the beginning of the book

Supervisor Reflection
What a term this has been. I have learned so much over this summer. I always felt in my heart that I
wanted to be a supervisor for incoming clinicians and this course has solidified my passion. Since
ones professional development is a lifelong process. I think the supervisor and supervisee relationship
is essential for professional growth. Personally I know that every supervisor in my career has left a
lasting impression and contributed to my professional development because of their dedication to
training, supervising, and teaching me all that they could. As a result I did not want to provide my
students with poor supervision and I wanted them to have my knowledge and expertise and pitfalls. I

us that I wanted to be insure I created space for my supervisees to not only reflect and process their
feelings and biases but also to practice and ask questions about working with clients of diverse
populations that may be impacted directly or indirectly by the current events sweeping our nation. It is
important that we not just discuss being culturally competent and inclusive but that we have real
conversations and practices regarding these and other aspects of diversity, pluralism and inclusion. I
am also a big believer in self care and not only talking about it but practicing what I preach so it was
important we discuss and create space for giving each other emotional support through reassurance
and encouragement. Overall, I had a great experience and I learned valuable lessons supervising and
being supervised. A peer even approached me this week from our course and said you know I really
appreciate your supervisor style and I would hire you in a second as a supervisor. That was really nice
to hear and while I know there is so much more to learn I am looking forward to joining other
supervisors in helping support and shape our future professional psychologist

between 1994 and 1997 to affect a change in the target customers for a prestige brand in the home
entertainment industry, and so increase turnover and profits significantly above that which could be
expected with a more of the same approach.

The service backup is second to none with regard to spare parts availability, and customers fall in love
with their products to the point that they will spend hundreds of dollars repairing fifteen and twenty
year old equipment rather than replace it. The average time between purchases was over seven years,
which meant that repeat business was hard to come by. The business in Australia was small, successful
and profitable, with steady but unspectacular growth. By 1993, Bang Olufsen in Denmark had just
completed a radical restructure, and the company, under a new young and aggressive management
team was in the process of making a remarkable turn around from the brink of disaster. Following the
massive restructuring program, Bang Olufsen was looking for significant growth opportunities. The
main European markets were well established and it was assumed that there was limited opportunity
for double digit growth, therefore it was decided to focus on the agency run markets and push some
serious expansion into the Asian region. There had long been a belief held by Bang Olufsen Denmark
(typical of many European based companies) that a country as large as Australia needed far wider
coverage than just the main capital cities. In Denmark, a country of five million people, there were
over 100 B O dealers, in fact one in almost every town, so they could not see why at least the top 50
towns and cities in Australia should

Obesity Prevention In The United States
Obesity Prevention in the United States How can obesity be prevented? One of my co workers eats
unhealthy food and she barely engages in physical activities. I wonder how this affects her health. The
risks of obesity doesn t only affect the physical health of a person but also emotional and
psychological. Obesity has become a major public health challenge in the United States. Obesogenic
habitat have increased due to the eating of low calorie foods of low nutritional value and the cutback
of daily physical activity (e.g., the increased portion sizes of food eaten inside and outside of the home
and the reduction of physical activities at home or in schools). Public health experts and personages

In other to prevent obesity, cities and counties have to encourage food retail establishments to promote
healthier options through law and inducement. Retail food establishments like, chain restaurants,
corner stores, supermarkets, farmers markets, and mobile vendors affect public health. Public officials
have advocated a range of policy options to cities for improving access to healthy food and decreasing
the popularity of unhealthy food in various retail food settings (Diller and Graff). Paul A. Diller and
Samantha Graff convey to readers that Regulating retail food establishments can be a powerful tool
for improving a community s food environment, especially in low income food deserts areas that lack
full service supermarkets and restaurants and are saturated with fast food restaurants and liquor stores.
Cities challenging unusual obesity rates are considering numerous governing policies for expanding
the convenience and accessibility of nutritious food, and diminishing the universality of fast food
restaurants and obesogenic packaged food. According to the article Regulating Food Retail for
Obesity Prevention: How Far Can Cities Go? Diller and Graff indicate that most states grant cities or
counties some form of home rule, allowing for broad local policymaking authority. In many home rule
states, cities or counties exercise the police power that is, the authority to regulate for the health,
safety, and welfare of the community concurrently with the state legislature. This home rule is a form
of dividing state and local power that allows municipalities to exercise only those powers directly
assigned by state law. In most states, there is solid legal authority at the municipal level that accept

Haim G. Ginott s Congruent Communication Model of Discipline
Congruent Communication Model of Discipline In 1971, Haim G. Ginott developed congruent
communication model that highlights the critical role of communication in discipline. Ginott believes
that the teacher is the influential element in the classroom and is like a parent that holds the authority
to make or break a students personality (Charles, 2011; Ginott, 1971).
Ginott s Key Ideas
1. Discipline: Discipline is a series of little successes.
2. Self Discipline: The most important element is a teacher s own self discipline.
3. Sane Messages: Address the situation not the students personality.
4. Congruent Communication: Teachers use congruent communication that is harmonious with
students own feelings.
5. Students Character: Teachers at their worst attack and label students characters.
6. Model Behavior: Teacher should model the behavior they expect to observe in their students.
7. Invite Cooperation: Inviting collaboration from students is greatly preferable to challenging it.
8. Express Anger: Teacher express anger but in appropriate ways.
9. Labeling the Disabling: Labeling students disables them.
10. Sarcasm: Sarcasm is almost always dangerous.
11. Perils of Praise: Avoid the perils of praise.
Congruent Communication
Congruent Communication means addresses situations, not students character or personality. Ginott
emphasized those teachers at their best, using congruent communication (Manning and Bucher, 2001;
Morris, 1996).

The Role Of Nurse Generalist As An Advocate, Delegator,...
The roles of the nurse generalist as an advocate, delegator, and life long learner
Myunghee Jung
Fairmont State University December 11, 2015
There are many professional roles of the nurse generalist that are essential in providing care to
patients, such as an advocate, educator, collaborator, and change agent and so on. In every day nursing
practice, nurses perform a variety of nursing roles. Meeting role expectations as a professional nurse is
for patient centered care, which is one of the IOM core competencies. The purpose of this paper is to
identify nurse generalist roles as an advocate, communicator, and life long learner to implement IOM
core competencies; 1)provide patient centered care, 2) work in interprofessional teams, 3) employ
evidence based practice, 4) apply quality improvement, 5) utilize informatics (Finkelman, 2016, p. 50
51). This paper will also deal with what I have felt in my nursing career in performing the nursing
roles. According to Tomajan, the role of an advocate is to work on behalf of self and/or others to raise
awareness of a concern and to promote solutions to the issue (Tomajan, 2012, para 5). Acting as a
patient advocate plays an important role in providing patient centered care. In this role, nurses should
be aware of patients vulnerability and pay much attention to their individual values and preferences in
receiving care. However, in reality, it is challenging for nurses to focus exclusively on patients needs

Hitler s Second World War II
September 1, 1939: Silence in Europe is brought to an abrupt end! German forces storm the Polish
borders, and break the Non Aggression Pact laid forth over five years before (EyeWitness). The Fuhrer
spoke of the Poles breaking down the peace talks, and of the atrocities committed upon the Germanic
people by them (Hitler, Adolf), but these highly exaggerated claims veiled Hitler s true intentions:
Though Hitler s primary goal was the conquering of Europe, hindsight shows that the removal of
groups of people he disliked or thought of as lesser were included in his plans from the start. Two days

Nationalism: Long live our people and our Reich! (Hitler, Adolf)
My next source is the Diary from the Years of Occupation 1939 1944, by Dr. Zygmunt Klukowski a
Polish chief physician of a small hospital south of Lublin, Poland. His first entry is on October 11,
after the Germans have settled in: he starts by stating the Germans are trying to clean up the city, but
then details that they re using the Jews as laborers for it. Jews must sweep the streets, clean all the
public latrines, and fill all the street trenches. (Klukowski) He continues on to say that they must de
arm and finally adds that there is a police curfew in effect. Finally he surmises that it seems most of
the orders are aimed at the Jews. (Klukowski) Another entry states that the Germans have been
executing mentally ill patients from the nearby hospitals. It is so hard to believe anything as terrible as
this. (Klukowski) October 21, 1942, he witnesses the beginning of the so called German displacement
of the Jews (Klukowski) Here Klukowski speaks of the indescribable atrocities he witnesses and

Summary Of The Daring Recuse
The Daring Recuse
One sunny day Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were walking to a park near their house. When out
of nowhere a black Suburban pulled up alongside the twins, and the driver asked if they wanted a ride
to the park. Luke and Leia both said no , but suddenly the Stormtroopers that were with the driver
walked up behind the twins catching them off guard. The Stormtroopers knocked out the twins and
catching them before they hit the sidewalk. When they got the twins in the black Suburban they sped
down the road (toward an abandoned warehouse). When the twins did not return home at 1:30 p.m.
Luke and Leia s parents Anakin and Padmé started to worry, so they called the Miami Dade police.
After an hour Lieutenant Horatio Caine came to the Skywalker residence to talk to the parents of Luke
and Leia and where they were headed to. (There were several witnesses that said that they saw a black
Suburban pull up alongside the twin.) The Miami Dade police department got right to work to find the
missing twins. Meanwhile the black Suburban finally came to a stop outside an abandoned warehouse.
The Stormtroopers got out of the black Suburban and pick up the twins and took them inside the
warehouse. Back at the police station Lieutenant Horatio Caine and his team were working hard trying
to find the twins. Meanwhile at the warehouse the twins were just waking up to find that they were
tied to a chair. The twins were freighted and they just wanted to go home, but what they don t know is
that the Miami Dade police were searching for them. That is when Han Solo stepped out from behind
the black Suburban. As he approaches the freighted twins he asks them Do you know why you are
here? Luke says No. and Leia says the same thing. Han says let me tell you I work for the Emperor of
the Galactic Empire and he wanted Anakin Skywalker s children because they would powerful and
would make great Sith lords possibly more powerful than Anakin. That is why you are here.
Meanwhile Lieutenant Horatio Caine and the Miami Dade police are investigating the kidnapping of
Luke and Leia. Meanwhile at the abandoned warehouse the Stormtroopers were hurting the twins

The next step in the process is called the rinser, where the bottles are then inverted and rinsed to wash
away contaminants most importantly any excess pieces of glass. Then the bottles are moved to the
eight different types of fillers that Gallo uses, the fill height is either adjustable or depends on the
pressure of the wine in the surge tank. Once the bottles are filled with the selected product, they are
then fed from a hopper upstairs in FW to be corked or capped. After being closed and completely
sealed, the products is transformed to the Labeller machine which either uses cold glue or pressure
labels. The labels are either spliced or continuous, with the front label pressured on and the back label
is put on with cold glue. Once all other steps are completed the final process that Gallo uses is the
packing step which all bottles are placed into the box, and the box is glued and closed mechanically.
Some lines use a Palletizer machine which is a device that is used to stack factory goods and products
on to a pallet. To make sure everything runs smoothly and on time Gallo has a good support system to

Across the different field of applications, several routing protocols have been proposed to achieve
enhanced network lifetime via energy efficient transmission [5]. The main cause for the energy
depletion in batteries in WSN is the communication required to transmit and receive data to other
nodes. Mostly the energy consumption in the network is due to transmission and reception activities.
However, the energy consumed for the processing operation is less important than the energy used for
communication [6].
The wireless sensor networks mainly comprise stationary and mobile sensors that are deployed
randomly inside the network and they collect data from the surroundings via wireless communication
links [7, 8].
Single hop or multi hop protocols are used to further transmit collected data to one or more base
stations or sink [9]. An enormous amount of structured and unstructured data known as big data is
generated rapidly that requires a flexible and reliable storage infrastructure [10]. Sensor nodes transfer
the obtained useful information from a defined network either directly or via a chain of CHs to the BS
[11]. In designing a routing protocol for WSN the main concern is the energy efficiency [12]. Thus,
energy depletion of one node may vary from other, i.e., nodes near the BS or sink have more energy
depletion than the other nodes. This results in the creation of energy holes near the sink [13].
Further transmission of data towards the sink is not

Analysis Of Local Search Algorithm For STP
From the tree SP we presented in the algorithm that we have obtained via Local Search Algorithm for
STP, we have generated the matrix of cost. This is done by assigning a cost to all the edges of tree SP
and by assigning a cost on n no. of nodes to all the other edges in graph. This assignment of cost helps
in recognizing the cost of the longest possible path between a pair of nodes in any spanning tree is n−1
(i.e. it passes n−1 edges) while the cost of the shortest path between any pair of nodes without using of
SPT edges is at least n (i.e. passes one edge). Consequently, the 802.1d protocol will produce the
intended spanning tree SP .

(v ∈ [1..n]) and (u /∈in_tree); creatEdge(u, v); in_tree = in_tree + {v} end end considered =
considered + u; end To the obtained spanning tree from above algorithm we add two types of edges so
that we can get a bi connected graph. The bi connected graph has a significance that if any of the edge
becomes down then also the network will be connected via another edge. This gives us assurance of
always up time for a network. This means in case of link failure alternate link will always be present
to ensure the network connectivity.
In this type1 edge connect a leaf with the higher level node while the type 2 edge connect a non leaf

To pretend a network in which a switch has many ports, we define a ratio r . This means each node in
the tree is connected to at least r edges. In each test graph, from the generated bi connected graph, we
create three more trees with ratio r15 = n/15, r10 = n/10 and r5 = n/5 (where n = no. of nodes).

Catullus And Lesbia Relationship
Option 2: Catullus and Lesbia s Relationship
Introduction
Lesbia is the subject of Catullus s most passionate and seemingly sincere poems. The relationship
between Catullus and Lesbia is tumultuous to say the least. His poems about Lesbia and their
relationship display a wide range of emotions which change from a relationship of tenderness and
love, to one of uncertainty, to one of sorrow and disappointment. They rapidly fall in and out of love
with another. Their affections for one another are fickle and constantly changing. They have a
mercurial kind of love. Catullus obviously loved Lesbia deeply, but he also feels intense dislike,
disappointment and contempt towards her. Through it all, it seems as though Catullus longs for
Lesbia, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The playful passion of the previous poems about Lesbia has been overturned by the announcement
that the relationship is as dead as the sparrow. Neither Lesbia nor Catullus seem to desire one another
anymore. Catullus describes the good times they shared together but asserts that he will no longer
chase or pine after Lesbia anymore. Catullus seems spiteful towards the end of the poem when he
asserts that no other man will love Lesbia like he did. Catullus believes that his relationship with
Lesbia was special and that her relationships with other men will never match what they had together.
The phrasing in this poem is deliberately simple as if Catullus has taken or the persona of a fool or
Lesbia s plaything, just like her pet sparrow. This is unusual because one again we are seeing Catullus
in a submissive role and Lesbia in the dominant role in the relationship. This gender role reversal is
unusual during the period of history they lived in, it is generally the man in the dominant role and the
woman in the submissive

My Career Goals
Success, failures, experiences, trials, and tribulations usually shape up the life and career of a person. I
am no exception to this idea. My experiences have taught me lessons. My mistakes have helped me to
grow. My successes have humbled me. My fear of the unknown has helped me face life.
I hail from a city called Chennai from the South of India and I grew up in a family rich in traditions
and orthodoxy. An age long tradition in India dictates children to decide on a career path as early as
sixth grade. Especially in a family of educated people like the one I was brought up in, children are

It was during that audit I found an echo of my passion for management and planning. In addition to

In the next couple of days, a bone curdling thought that I could have committed a blunder by

Essay about The Chinese Cultural Revolution
The Chinese Cultural Revolution The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, beginning as a campaign
targeted at removing Chairman Mao Zedong s political opponents, was a time when practically every
aspect of Chinese society was in pandemonium. From 1966 through 1969, Mao encouraged
revolutionary committees, including the red guards, to take power from the Chinese Communist party
authorities of the state. The Red Guards, the majority being young adults, rose up against their
teachers, parents, and neighbors. Following Mao and his ideas, The Red Guard s main goal was to
eliminate all remnants of the old culture in China. They were the frontline implementers who
produced havoc, used bloody force, punished supposed counter ... Show more content on

The role of Red Guard was mainly to attack the ?four olds? of society, as well as purging all bourgeois
elements within the government. The following excerpt, from an interview between an ex red guard
father and his daughter, explains what the four olds were: ?We were told to destroy four types of
things: 1 ~ anything of the old feudal culture (relics, statues, monuments); 2 ~ anything connected to
capitalism; 3 ~ anything related to the development of the mind (libraries, old university buildings, art,
classical musical instruments); 4 ~ traditional Confucian customs, symbols, philosophy and
education.? (Interview with Mr. Nie) The Red Guards used the four olds as a basic guideline on what
to attack and not to attack. Another standard, which all revolutionary efforts were to be judged by, was
from Mao?s ideas found in his little red book of quotations. The little red book was a collection of
quotations taken from Mao?s past speeches and publications. The Red Guards? actions were a
reflection of Mao?s policy of revamping passion, and destroying counter revolutionary symbols. ?
They named and renamed street signs and buildings, and ransacked museums and destroyed old books
and works of art. Many famous buildings like temples and shrines and heritages were destroyed. 4,922
out of a total 6,843 were destroyed.?

A Liberal Arts Education
Critical thinking means to think correctly in to find knowledge that is relevant and reliable. In terms of
a liberal arts education critical thinking is crucial because a liberal arts education teaches students
skills that are needed in the rapidly changing world that usually requires a lifetime of self learning and
understanding. Critical thinking is something that people usually must learn on their own; however, as
a liberal arts school it is taught, so we have a better understanding of thinking critically.

Carbon footprint is the total of greenhouse gases produced by an individual s habits as well as the
energy required to produce things an individual consumes.
The individual components of the bottled water supply chain that contribute significantly to the
industry s carbon footprint are apparent in the entire process of creating bottled water. During
extraction and production oil is used to create the plastic bottles. Then energy is required to ship the
bottles across the globe. Lastly, disposal of the bottles is an issue as the majority of them ends up in
landfills in which they will remain for thousands of years, or they are put into incinerators which
releases toxins into the air.

Do consumers have a connection with their shampoo brand? To find out, we interviewed four
individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing decisions when it came to shampoo. The
aim of this research was to learn how consumer product relationships develop and relate to future
purchasing decisions with mundane products less than five pounds. From the interviewers, we
discovered how consumers relate to shampoo, their purchasing habits, price ... Show more content on

Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo
brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or
discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering
discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand
Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years
and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group
e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using
brand ambassadors.
Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship
between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand
loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore
not only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer product
relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this relationship that marketers can capture new
customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power of the
consumer product relationship even for something as mundane and seemingly unimportant as

The First Stop On My Cpr Tour
Crystal City Underground
The first stop on my CPR tour was the Crystal City Underground. This awesome cave sits in the heart
Crystal City, which is located about 30 miles south of St Louis, MO. Carved into the Mississippi river
bluff this cavern was once an active sand mine serving a local glass plant, Pittsburgh Plate Glass
factory, with materials for almost a century. In the 1980 s the plant and the mine were closed, allowing
water that was pumped out for decades to begin to flood portions of the cave. The recent owners of
this cave decided to turn the property into a tourist attraction. They built up area s for children to
explore, adults to play games, a stage for bands to play, a sitting area with large TV s for sports and
other event enjoyment, and barges to take tours on while exploring the depths of vastness this cave has
to offer. On the day of my arrival I had the pleasure of experiencing a dark path being well lit with
over 400 carved pumpkins along what was pleasantly titled the Great Pumpkin Walk. As I ventured
along I could see multiple paths that led to deeper parts of the cavern. Many of these paths were
blocked off for what I am assuming were safety reasons. After walking what seemed to be a half mile I
arrived at the tour barge. Loaded with 8 passengers our tour guide, Steve, took us deep into the cave
and explained its history while showing us fascinating things. I witnessed my first close up experience
with cave bats, got to see permanent

Flying Machine Literary Devices
Literary Analysis of The Flying Machine The Flying Machine by Ray Bradbury, is set in China many
centuries ago. It is about a man who creates a device that allows him to soar through the wind, much
like a bird. The Emperor recognizes this act as a form of evil, and executes the flyer. Bradbury also
uses many literary devices in his story, to emphasis the Emperor, in his truly wicked, yet caring and
generous manner. First, it is important to note the diction used in The Flying Machine. Overall
Bradbury uses simple words, that are easy to understand and easily recognizable. Next, the words of
the characters develop their personalities. For example, the Flier is very confident in his choices,
saying things like, I have flown in the sky, Your

Analysis Of The Book Stonewall
Stonewall: Breaking Out In The Fights For Gay Rights by Ann Bausum In the book Stonewall:
Breaking Out In the Fights For Gay Rights, author Ann Bausum starts the book off by going into a
complete and brutal overview on how gay people were treated in a time before the Stonewall Riots.
She then goes on to cover how exactly the first riot and the ones coming directly after happened, using
sources from both sides of the conflicts, including police officers and people who had been run from
the Stonewall inn. She continues by going into the aftereffects of the riots and into the AIDS crisis that
hit the community nearly two decades after. The book is ended on a hopeful note, saying that the
future can only look up from here for the queer community. Ann Bausum, while straight, did a very
large amount of research before writing this book. She has a three page bibliography at the end of the
book, listing all of her sources and where she got all the quotes that were littered throughout the book.
She mentions in the book that since she is not Queer, some parts of the novel may not be truly
accurate because she is not in the community. This source fits very well into my research as a starting
place. I did not know a large about about the Stonewall Riots previously, so this short somewhat
overview of the situation was very necessary for me to read so I could get a grasp on the situation
before going in further. 2. A Queer History of the United States by Michael Bronski A Queer

Star Wars Game Analysis
Would you rather be in a dinosaur world or play a game where you are in a battle in Star Wars? These

The Failure To Obey The Law
The law is a system of rules that govern the people in the country or community making them
responsible for their actions. Failure to oblige by these rules is punishable, and a penalty is always
enforced on the people who do not obey the law. The law also consists of the procedures that should
be followed for the people to live responsibly and also what should be done on those who do not
follow the rules. As provided in the U.S Constitution under the Eight Amendment, a bail consists of
the amount of money that a defendant should pay in order to be released out of the custody until the
day of his or her trial. The bail is not used as a punishment to the defendant. The bail is important to
the defendant as it helps him or her to come out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People mostly have a right to bail except capital cases in 40 state constitutions. There are a few
reasons why bail is significantly important to a defendant. First, it gives the individual time to wait for
their trial outside the jail cell. Without bail, the defendant would have to await their trail but stay in jail
for a number of months. It wouldn t seem fair for someone to spend time in jail if they are presumed
not guilty in the near future. Second, bail gives the defendant time to spend with their lawyer, so they
carefully prepare for the upcoming trial. Statistically, people generally are convicted and sentenced
more when they don t make bail compared to the ones that do make bail (Lippman 2015). Families
with a low income suffer the most because they may not have enough to pay 10 percent fee. Most
importantly, bail gives the individual time to spend with their loved ones while dealing with dire

The Battle Of Santa Rosa Island
After several months of battles between the north and the south in several states, including North
Carolina, Virginia, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee, the war reached Florida in 1861. The first
battle to reach Florida occurred when there was a standoff at Fort Pickens. When Florida seceded from
the Union, there were Union soldiers stationed at Fort Pickens that were asked to surrender. A force of
almost 1,000 volunteer soldiers landed on Santa Rosa Island with the intent of raiding the outlying
defenses and camps near Fort Pickens. General Richard H. Anderson led these soldiers. Mainly the
Sixth New York Infantry Regiment defended the forts and camps. Soon after the Confederates burned
and ransacked the Union camp, reinforcements were sent from Fort Pickens to assist the confused
Union soldiers. The Confederates had 18 killed, 39 wounded, and 30 imprisoned soldiers, while the
Union had 14 killed, 29 wounded, and 20 imprisoned. By March 1862, the Confederates completely
withdrew from the area. This battle became known as the Battle of Santa Rosa Island because the
union troops landed on Santa Rosa Island, four miles east of Fort Pickens. Most of the civil war took
place in the states of Virginia and Tennessee but two major battles of and several smaller altercations
took place in the state of Florida. On February 20, 1864 the largest civil war battle in Florida took
place near Lake City. This battle occurred a year after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed and

Makeup Stereotypes
Stereotypes involving makeup and body types have been existing for a while. However, social media
has expanded minds into thinking that stereotypes are facts. Society has pressured men and women to
match the stereotypes branded to them, creating insecurities and a change in the way people view

that they have witnessed the stereotype being relevant, however stereotypes are not factual statements

The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the effects of four methods of subcutaneous

methods during the study. The methods had different injection rates and needle time left in the patient
before removing it. The researchers used a quasi experimental within subject design. 90 patients with

Columbine Analysis
The Truth About Columbine Dave Cullen s purpose in writing Columbine is to expose the truth about
the killers. Dave Cullen exposes Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris the Columbine shooters; everything
from their extensive planning, their motives, and the harrowing results of the massacre are revealed
throughout Columbine.
The writing technique used throughout Columbine exemplify the different treatment of the killers.
Eric being a psychopath that felt no remorse, and Dylan being humanized as a person who is lost in
his own sadness. Cullen treats the boys differently by using techniques such as plot order; using a
rearranged common plot order makes Dylan seem like a more relatable person, and more deserving of
forgiveness. Cullen uses a reassembled common plot order by starting the book with a scene that
happened a week before the shooting. But instead of following the normal path, Cullen then uses
background information which includes the feelings of the killers. He then changes to a scene from the
past again to further progress to the climax of the book. Cullen uses this technique to create bonds
between the reader and the characters; in the process of doing this he makes leeway for Dylan s softer
side to be shown. It is important that he does this so that he can fully expose the innermost thoughts of
the killers. Throughout the book there are many accounts of the journals written by each of the boys.
However, Dylan s writings are where people tried to find truth. The

The Decline Of Californian Giant Kelp Forests
The Decline of Californian Giant Kelp Forests
Kelp forests are seen as the ultimate ecological engineer in coastal areas. They exist in marine
environments spanning in southern California, Aleutian Islands, and the western north Atlantic. Light,
latitude, and water temperature and nutrients all play a role in facilitating the growth of kelp forests all
around the world, (Bolton). Kelp specifically dominates the shallow rocky coasts of the world s cold
water marine habitats. Although they look as a free growing plant, they are in fact primarily of brown
algae. These structures provide food and shelter to a huge mix of biota, including crabs, sea urchins,
mollusks, and other marine organisms (Steneck). The fronds, or large leaves of the kelp are the
distinctive feature that can represent where a specific kelp may be found. The sizes of these organisms
can range from the smallest found near California and Alaska at 5m to giant kelp up to 45m in length
found on the west coasts of North and South America (Hamilton).
One specific species found most commonly is the Laminaria prominently found in the northern
hemisphere except for the eastern pacific. Kelp themselves are not very diverse at the taxonomical
level. However, the coast of California contains the most diverse flora, 20 species across 16 genera to
be exact. Although their taxonomic diversity may be low, their diversity exists at the structural and
functional levels. Kelp have specific characteristics such as their trumpet

Essay on Diversity and Distribution of Eucalyptus
Diversity and Distribution of Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is a genus of hardwood evergreen forest trees, and is the most conspicuous element of
Australian vegetation. Its members constitute 95 percent of the continent s forests and are the
dominant trees of Australia s woodlands (Kelly 1969). It is an extremely diverse group, with
approximately 500 named species and subspecies and nearly 200 described hybrid varieties (Blakely
1965). The genus is overwhelmingly endemic to the Australian mainland and Tasmania. Only seven
species occur naturally outside the continent, mostly on the islands of Papua/New Guinea and the
Indonisian island of Timor, and only two of these species are not represented on the Australian
continent. Eucalyptus is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, in response to this great diversity in habitat, Eucalyptus has, through many generations, adapted
and speciated to become one of the most diverse living groups on earth. The diversity of the genus lies
not only in its shear number of species, but also in the various forms, features, and morphological
characters it displays.
Because of its great range of habitation, the widespread Eucalyptus displays a variety of shapes and
sizes. The Snow Gum (E. pauciflora), which must deal with the harsh conditions of high altitudes,
takes the form of twisted, windswept shrubs, often barely reaching three feet in height (Kelly 1969).
However, the Mountain Ash (E. regnans) of the wet, rich loamed Victorian and Tasmanian forests,
often exceeds heights of 320 feet, making it the tallest Australian species and the tallest hardwood in
the world. Most forest species rarely attain heights of 150 feet, while woodland species generally do
not exceed 80 feet but have a short, thick trunk with heavy limbs to support a broad, spreading crown.
Sometimes the same species occurs in both forests and woodlands, assuming the form characteristic of
the vegetative type in which it grows (Hall, Johnston, and Chippendale 1970). A number of species
exhibit a shrub like dwarf form in which several stems arise from a large, woody rootstock composed
of stem tissue (called a lignotuber) imbedded in shallow soil.

The International Bill That Threatens Online Privacy Essay...
Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) were big bills recently in
the EU and America that caught the attention of nearly every internet user. It was hard to not notice
these two bills. These legislations would have pushed copyright infringement on many sites and much
of the internet as it is known would have been shut down. On January 18, big sites such as Wikipedia,
and Google blacked out their site for a day. This sent a loud and clear message to the creators of this
bill and they put it on indefinite hold. While this was happening another bill decided to raise its ugly
head. It had been lurking in the shadows of the other two bills and would prove to be a much more
immense monster to face. Much like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bill was put on a supposed indefinite hold. ACTA was finally brought to the attention by the
general public. Much like SOPA and PIPA it would cause unnecessary jailing, for crimes that would
prove meager to most of the crime in the world today. ACTA is made not only for online copyright
problems, but also to work against smuggling, and piracy. There is nothing wrong with a well written
bill that would work against fighting those crimes and shutting down illegal pirating sites. The way
ACTA is written, it would put copyright infringement on many sites that people use on a daily basis. A
clip of a little kid singing a Hannah Montana song could possibly land some unsuspecting adolescent
in jail.
Despite that fact that ACTA was poorly written it does raise some pros and cons. Any Pro ACTA
individual will claim that by instigating the bill, it will create more jobs, thus work towards fixing the
economy. The bill would also help prevent people from illegally downloading copyrighted material,
smuggling, and counterfeiting. There is no major disagreement that Artists should have better
protection for their work, but there is a fine line between protecting rights, and being beyond
ridiculous. As for creating jobs, this sounds like another case of working with the Upper Class, and
ignoring the majority of people in Middle and Lower Class. The way the bill is written it threatens

  • 2. Significance of Emotional Education in Dickens Novel,... Set in the ever shifting world of the Industrial Revolution, Charles Dickens novel Hard Times begins with a description of a utilitarian paradise created by the illustrious and eminently practical Mr. Gradgrind, a world that follows a prescribed set of logically laid out facts. However, readers soon realize that Gradgrind s modern utopia is only a simulacrum, belied by the damnation of lives devoid of elements that feed the heart and soul, as well as the mind. As the years progress, the weaknesses of Gradgrind s carefully constructed system become painfully apparent, especially in his children Louisa and Tom, and in the poor workers employed under one Mr. Josiah Bounderby, a wealthy factory owner who is a subscriber to Gradgrind s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Louisa has not succumbed entirely to her father s prohibition against wondering and imagining. Her humanity emerges gradually as the novel progresses, as the result of her warm inner fire created by her secret fancies in otherwise her lonely, mechanized existence. As her failing and loveless marriage to the greedy and arrogant bully of humility Bounderby takes its toll, Louisa reaches out, first to Stephen Blackpool, an oppressed factory worker, and then to James Harthouse, a cynical, amoral, and thrill seeking aristocrat who tries to seduce her. Here, the long denial of two vital human forces, emotion and imagination, causes an explosive release of containment in Louisa, inflicting her with adulterous yearnings that drives her to the brink of madness and to an eventual emotional breakdown at her father s mercy. Nothing in Louisa s previous education has prepared her to handle her emerging passions. She saves herself from disgrace just in time, helped by the friendship of Sissy Jupe, who represents the wisdom of the heart ― a wisdom Louisa has never known. • 3. Google Glass, A Wearable Computing Device Abstract This report aims to look at how Google Glass, a wearable computing device, contributes to social and privacy ethical implications. Ethical issues recognised in devices can question the legal rights of a product. However, a study shows that this device may have an opportunity to enhance the quality of the surgical industry. If so, should this device still be used amidst the ethical issues? 1 Introduction 1.1 Wearable Technology Wearable computing is a technology device that can be worn on the human body and often includes devices that can collect information and may even have motion detectors. Wi Fi or Bluetooth tethering is used to connect the device with an internet connection. Evolving examples of wearable technology include smart watches, clothing and jewellery, sports watches, fitness trackers, head mounted displays and devices that can be implanted in the body. 1.2 Augmented Reality Augmented Reality (AR) is technology that allows virtual objects to be layered on to the actual environment in real time. Together, this creates a space called mixed reality. The layers allow detailed information about the world to be visually present whilst wearing the device. AR browsers can enhance camera display with information that is relevant to the place you are at. If you point the device to a building, it can display the details of the building on the building. 2 Defining Ethical Implications Ethical implications are issues that arise within the invention ... It is the period before the electorate makes political decisions in the form of elections. The attention of the citizens towards politics intensifies as the date of the elections draws near. Political discussions, campaign interest, strength of the intention to vote, and knowledge about the candidates are other manifestations of increased salience of voters. In many home rule states, cities or counties exercise the police power that is, the authority to regulate for the health, safety, and welfare of the community concurrently with the state legislature. Ginott believes that the teacher is the influential element in the classroom and is like a parent that holds the authority to make or break a students personality (Charles, 2011; Ginott, 1971). Ginott s Key Ideas 1. Discipline: Discipline is a series of little successes. 2. Self Discipline: The most important element is a teacher s own self discipline. 3. Sane Messages: Address the situation not the students personality. 4. Congruent Communication: Teachers use congruent communication that is harmonious with students own feelings. Across the different field of applications, several routing protocols have been proposed to achieve enhanced network lifetime via energy efficient transmission [5]. The main cause for the energy depletion in batteries in WSN is the communication required to transmit and receive data to other nodes. Mostly the energy consumption in the network is due to transmission and reception activities. However, the energy consumed for the processing operation is less important than the energy used for communication [6]. The wireless sensor networks mainly comprise stationary and mobile sensors that are deployed randomly inside the network and they collect data from the surroundings via wireless communication links [7, 8]. Single hop or multi hop protocols are used to further transmit collected data to one or more base stations or sink [9]. An enormous amount of structured and unstructured data known as big data is generated rapidly that requires a flexible and reliable storage infrastructure [10]. Sensor nodes transfer the obtained useful information from a defined network either directly or via a chain of CHs to the BS [11]. In designing a routing protocol for WSN the main concern is the energy efficiency [12]. Thus, energy depletion of one node may vary from other, i.e., nodes near the BS or sink have more energy depletion than the other nodes. This results in the creation of energy holes near the sink [13]. Further transmission of data towards the sink is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This assignment of cost helps in recognizing the cost of the longest possible path between a pair of nodes in any spanning tree is n−1 (i.e. it passes n−1 edges) while the cost of the shortest path between any pair of nodes without using of SPT edges is at least n (i.e. passes one edge). This means in case of link failure alternate link will always be present to ensure the network connectivity. Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using brand ambassadors. This awesome cave sits in the heart Crystal City, which is located about 30 miles south of St Louis, MO. Carved into the Mississippi river bluff this cavern was once an active sand mine serving a local glass plant, Pittsburgh Plate Glass factory, with materials for almost a century. In the 1980 s the plant and the mine were closed, allowing water that was pumped out for decades to begin to flood portions of the cave. The recent owners of this cave decided to turn the property into a tourist attraction. They built up area s for children to explore, adults to play games, a stage for bands to play, a sitting area with large TV s for sports and other event enjoyment, and barges to take tours on while exploring the depths of vastness this cave has to offer. On the day of my arrival I had the pleasure of experiencing a dark path being well lit with over 400 carved pumpkins along what was pleasantly titled the Great Pumpkin Walk. As I ventured along I could see multiple paths that led to deeper parts of the cavern. Many of these paths were blocked off for what I am assuming were safety reasons. After walking what seemed to be a half mile I arrived at the tour barge. Loaded with 8 passengers our tour guide, Steve, took us deep into the cave and explained its history while showing us fascinating things. Bradbury also uses many literary devices in his story, to emphasis the Emperor, in his truly wicked, yet caring and generous manner. First, it is important to note the diction used in The Flying Machine. Overall Bradbury uses simple words, that are easy to understand and easily recognizable. • 29. Analysis Of The Book Stonewall Stonewall: Breaking Out In The Fights For Gay Rights by Ann Bausum In the book Stonewall: Breaking Out In the Fights For Gay Rights, author Ann Bausum starts the book off by going into a complete and brutal overview on how gay people were treated in a time before the Stonewall Riots. She then goes on to cover how exactly the first riot and the ones coming directly after happened, using sources from both sides of the conflicts, including police officers and people who had been run from the Stonewall inn. She continues by going into the aftereffects of the riots and into the AIDS crisis that hit the community nearly two decades after. The book is ended on a hopeful note, saying that the future can only look up from here for the queer community. Ann Bausum, while straight, did a very large amount of research before writing this book. She has a three page bibliography at the end of the book, listing all of her sources and where she got all the quotes that were littered throughout the book. She mentions in the book that since she is not Queer, some parts of the novel may not be truly accurate because she is not in the community. This source fits very well into my research as a starting place. I did not know a large about about the Stonewall Riots previously, so this short somewhat overview of the situation was very necessary for me to read so I could get a grasp on the situation before going in further. 2. It wouldn t seem fair for someone to spend time in jail if they are presumed not guilty in the near future. The first battle to reach Florida occurred when there was a standoff at Fort Pickens. When Florida seceded from the Union, there were Union soldiers stationed at Fort Pickens that were asked to surrender. A force of almost 1,000 volunteer soldiers landed on Santa Rosa Island with the intent of raiding the outlying defenses and camps near Fort Pickens. General Richard H. Anderson led these soldiers. Dave Cullen exposes Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris the Columbine shooters; everything from their extensive planning, their motives, and the harrowing results of the massacre are revealed throughout Columbine. The writing technique used throughout Columbine exemplify the different treatment of the killers. Eric being a psychopath that felt no remorse, and Dylan being humanized as a person who is lost in his own sadness. Cullen treats the boys differently by using techniques such as plot order; using a rearranged common plot order makes Dylan seem like a more relatable person, and more deserving of forgiveness. Cullen uses a reassembled common plot order by starting the book with a scene that happened a week before the shooting. But instead of following the normal path, Cullen then uses background information which includes the feelings of the killers. He then changes to a scene from the past again to further progress to the climax of the book. Cullen uses this technique to create bonds between the reader and the characters; in the process of doing this he makes leeway for Dylan s softer side to be shown. • 40. The Decline Of Californian Giant Kelp Forests The Decline of Californian Giant Kelp Forests Kelp forests are seen as the ultimate ecological engineer in coastal areas. They exist in marine environments spanning in southern California, Aleutian Islands, and the western north Atlantic. Light, latitude, and water temperature and nutrients all play a role in facilitating the growth of kelp forests all around the world, (Bolton). Kelp specifically dominates the shallow rocky coasts of the world s cold water marine habitats. Although they look as a free growing plant, they are in fact primarily of brown algae. These structures provide food and shelter to a huge mix of biota, including crabs, sea urchins, mollusks, and other marine organisms (Steneck). The fronds, or large leaves of the kelp are the distinctive feature that can represent where a specific kelp may be found. The sizes of these organisms can range from the smallest found near California and Alaska at 5m to giant kelp up to 45m in length found on the west coasts of North and South America (Hamilton). One specific species found most commonly is the Laminaria prominently found in the northern hemisphere except for the eastern pacific. Kelp themselves are not very diverse at the taxonomical level. Thus, in response to this great diversity in habitat, Eucalyptus has, through many generations, adapted and speciated to become one of the most diverse living groups on earth. The diversity of the genus lies not only in its shear number of species, but also in the various forms, features, and morphological characters it displays. Because of its great range of habitation, the widespread Eucalyptus displays a variety of shapes and sizes. The Snow Gum (E. pauciflora), which must deal with the harsh conditions of high altitudes, takes the form of twisted, windswept shrubs, often barely reaching three feet in height (Kelly 1969). However, the Mountain Ash (E. regnans) of the wet, rich loamed Victorian and Tasmanian forests, often exceeds heights of 320 feet, making it the tallest Australian species and the tallest hardwood in the world. Most forest species rarely attain heights of 150 feet, while woodland species generally do not exceed 80 feet but have a short, thick trunk with heavy limbs to support a broad, spreading crown. Sometimes the same species occurs in both forests and woodlands, assuming the form characteristic of the vegetative type in which it grows (Hall, Johnston, and Chippendale 1970).
