Geographic Information Systems Used For Urban Master...
It is a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) widely used for urban master planning for brown field.
It is a spatial attribute of world co ordinate system. GIS is kind of software in which you can see the

San Diego Water Crisis
Leonardo da Vinci, famous artist, engineer, philosopher, and scientist, once said, Water is the driving
force of all nature. Water is one of, if not the most valuable resource for all life. Although 71% of the
Earth is water, only 2.5% of it is fresh and safe for human consumption. Despite previously being
considered a renewable resource, water is becoming scarce, especially in California. As more and
more water is disappearing, California is struggling to find a solution to its unprecedented drought.
Solutions thus far imported water, desalination, and ridiculous restrictions on use have not made a
significant enough impact. However, a new, revolutionary resolution has appeared: potable water.
Potable, or recycled, water is water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pure Water project, a project that plans to construct three recycling plants to produce San Diego s
water supply, only requires $3.5 billion to get started inexpensive in comparison to the amount of
money it takes to import, partially purify, and desalinate water. An example of the ever growing
expense of imported water can be found in the article Council unanimously approves purifying
sewage into drinking water , which was published to UT San Diego on November 18, 2014. In this
informational article, author David Garrick states, Councilman Scott Sherman said San Diego must
fight back against sharply rising costs of imported water. Potable water is the best way to combat the
increasing prices of imported water. Rather than relying on water from the Colorado River San Diego
s main supplier existing water can be purified and reused. In the same article, it is also stated that, In
addition, recycling wastewater... would allow the city to avoid spending about $2.1 billion in upgrades
needed at the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant (Garrick). As mentioned in the quotation, San
Diego is already spending generous amounts of money on water. This can be remedied, however, with
the implication of potable water, which costs significantly less. Another one of San Diego s pricey
water sources is desalination. Desalination is the high cost, high energy process of purifying salt water
to make it drinkable. In the nonfiction article OC Coastkeeper: San Diego Swindled By Desalination,
Don t Let OC Be Next , published on February 3, 2016 to voiceofoc.org by author Ray Hiemstra, it is
stated that, San Diego is forced to pay for the most expensive water on the market whether they need
it or not , in reference to the desalination plant managed by

Reflection About Writing
I feel as though I have always been good at writing, if not writing itself but the writing process. My
first real writing assignment was in 8th grade when I did a research paper on comics. I had the
freedom to talk about what I wanted and could use a multitude of sources. Looking back, I do not
know how good it was but I put a lot of interest and time into the paper. My next real paper was not
until my junior year where we had to write a junior paper. This was a research paper and my topic was
Internet Censorship . I like this because it was a topic I was interested in and it was a fun paper to
write. I was basically just explain to my audience what I had learned and was teaching them in my
paper. It was like getting to write an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A writing session for me can be around thirty minutes or an hour and a half. If it becomes longer than
thirty minutes I like to take short breaks. Once I am done I put my paper through a program like
PaperGrader to analyze any grammar mistakes. I guess this would be my revising part of the writing
process. It also helps with things like word usage, checking plagiarism, and parts of a paper like
passive voice. This part, like pre writing, is not very long. I revise quickly because I feel that all the
hard work of writing is already done, I just want to make sure my paper is free of as much mistakes as
possible. After putting my paper through PaperGrader I go through and fix those mistakes and reread
my paper to see if I like the flow, the word choice, and just to make sure everything works.
I do not have many writing rules that apply while actually composing. If anything, I use my writing
rules as a guideline and apply them while I am revising. To me, a good paper is one that easily
conveys your points but can also hold attention so I like to make sure I do not write repetitively. That
said, I always put my thesis statement at the end of my introductory paragraph. I was told you do not
want to give it away in the first sentence. Another one is I try to never use the words very, stuff, and
things. I was told very is unnecessary and stuff and things is lazy and you can always be more
specific. As I also said previously I like to have a

Texting And Teen Literacy
Texting has become more and more common among younger aged children from about ages twelve to
seventeen. As new phones begin to develop young kids have the urge to buy them to appear cool to
their surrounding peers. In an ebook, Discourse of Text Messaging: Analysis of SMS Communication,
written by Caroline Tagg reads this, In 2010 it was estimated that 200,000 text messages were being
sent every second, a three fold increase from 2007(Tagg p2). And it has also been calculated, by Ben
Parr, that, the average teenager now sends 3,339 texts per month(Parr). This is an insane amount of
texts. But little do these young teens know how this is greatly impacting their reading, writing, and
speaking skills . Texting at a young age is very serious, is negatively affecting children s literacy, and
many of the problems that come with younger aged texting can easily be avoided. Correlation between
texting and grammar Many surveys have been done to show that there is a direct correlation between
teen literacy and teen texting. According to Megan Gannon, Live Science Contributor, a Northwestern
researcher, named Drew Cingel, did a study on the effects of using homophones and other text slang
when texting and how it affects one s literacy. To do this, Drew Cingel took a group of middle school
students in Pennsylvania, gave them each a grammar assessment test, and a asked them to answer
couple survey questions. He asked the kids to record about how many texts they send and receive,

IAS will have to conduct an annual review of UWCN s risk management process to ensure that it can
continue to place reliance on management s risk assessment as the basis for audit planning.
4.5. IAS will review its plans annually to take account of revisions in UWCN s risk assessment,
enable new developments to be taken into account and allow for the plan to be rolled forward
appropriately.
Audit Coverage
4.6. IAS s overall audit objective is to provide UWCN s Principal and Board of Governors with an
opinion which is positive and reasonable. Positive means that our opinion will be based on seeing
evidence of adequate action. Reasonable means that there will be sufficient evidence underpinning our
opinion to make it reliable, but it is not guaranteed that systems will be error free.
4.7. When determining the coverage necessary to provide our assurance, IAS will apply the following
considerations:
• UWCN s risk management arrangements will have to be reviewed every year to confirm the
validity of the analysis as the basis for planning;
• Some high risk areas require more frequent review;
• The need for audit coverage to encompass the whole range of risks which UWCN has identified as
key to the achievement of its objectives;
• The need for an adequate range of non key risks to be included to ensure our opinion is based on
comprehensive coverage across UWCN;
• Historical knowledge of strengths and deficiencies in UWCN s risk management, control

Good Vs. Evil In Beowulf
In the story Beowulf, there are a lot of conflicts that takes place. This causes a few themes to appear in
the story, one of them, good vs evil. Every character is different. Some are good and some are bad. In
Beowulf you have two main heroes and a few demons and monsters. In my essay I will show how all
the characters represent good vs evil. Like I said earlier there are only 2 characters that represent good.
The main character Beowulf obviously is one of them. He s a hero and everyone looks up to him.
Beowulf chooses his battles. He fights with demons and monsters at the right time. The other
character that represents good is Wiglaf. Beowulf and Wiglaf are the only characters who fight for and
help humans without the concerning of their own safety. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grendel is the main symbol of all the bad through this story. He is a descendant of Cain which is
Adam and Eve s son, who killed his own brother. Grendel is mankind s enemy, he doesn t like how
humans are able to enjoy life while he is stuck in darkness. One of Grendel s bad actions was that he
broke into herot and kills warriors while they were sleeping and eats them afterwards. He is one of the
three monsters that beowulf fights. Beowulf fights with his bare hands to prove that he doesn t need
weapons to fight Grendel. Beowulf kills Grendel leading to the cause of why Grendel s mother is after
him. Grendel s mother symbolizes rage and vengefulness after the death of her son. She only becomes
a threat once Grendel is killed and she kills out of grief. In defeating his mother, Beowulf sets aside
his on warriors vengeful nature and realizes that there is no honor in killing out of

US Coast Guard
As the skipper of a vessel you have many responsibilities to reckon with, such as the safety of the
crew, the vessel s seaworthiness, weather, currents, navigation, attentiveness to other vessels and the
appropriate operation of the boat. But, boating can be fun, safe and rewarding if you take time to learn
how to safely operate your boat, and follow the rules. Learning the requisite laws and regulations is a
good starting point. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) distributes a publication call Navigation
Rules: International Inland. This publication, which can be ordered or downloaded from the USCG

things such as spare parts, lights, an appropriately sized anchor (that is attached to the boat by intact
line), and docking lines. These listed precautions only scratch the surface of all the aspects of a good,
sound boat. By the way, is your boat registered or documented as required by your state or
municipality? Speaking of equipment, safety equipment is an important part of boating and shouldn t
be overlooked. Some of the necessary pieces of equipment include: life vests; sound making devices,
such as horns and whistles; visual distress signals, such as flashing strobes, flares, first aid supplies,
and a deployable floating cushion. There should be an adequate number of each type of safety
equipment on board, the equipment should be in good working order, and all passengers should know
how to access and operate the equipment. Get a weather forecast before you set out on your boat. It s

The Influence Of Brunelleschi Cathedrals In Florence
As a construction management major I thought it was only fitting that I choose this topic. Interestingly
enough, a lot of the question that were asked during the Brunelleschi s time are still being asked today
when it comes to construction.
Finding a solution to build an artistic roof that would fully cover the interior, and keep the outdoor
elements from entering, instead of having a massive whole in their cathedrals was the motivation that
led to Brunelleschi s invention of the dome that is used on a few cathedrals in Florence.
The questions that were asked were how are they going to build a dome that was almost 150 feet
across? How are they going to build this dome and successfully place them from 180 feet from the
ground? Would the weight

Investigate the Osmosis in Potato Rods in Various Concentrations of Salt Solutions
Introduction:
Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from a region of
high water potential to a region of low water potential. It can be affected by several different variables
including concentration of salt solutions. When a plant cell is put in pure water it will become turgid
and it will not burst due to the presence of a cell wall and a large permanent vacuole and when it is put
in a concentrated solution it will be plasmolysed, on the other hand when an animal cell is put in pure
water it will burst due to the absence of the cell wall which is only present in the plant cell and if is

Dependant variables: The changes in length, changes in weight and the degree of firmness.
Fixed variables: The room Temperature: The warmer the solution, the quicker the osmosis will be.
This is because the water molecules will be moving more quickly. If you heat something like the
potato rod up too much the cells will be destroyed so a good heating temperature must be used.
The Surface Area: This will speed up the time of osmosis because there will be more space on the
potato for osmosis to take place.
The equipment I used:
1) The tools:
* 5 Test tubes with their holder.
* A Forceps.
* A Scalpel.
* A Cork borer.
* 2 Small beakers.

The Starry Night
The Starry Night The starry night is painting by Vincent van Goh done in 1889. The painting is
inspired by the night view. It is a painting that was done by oil on canvas just as the way traditional
paintings are done. However, the starry night was not painted at night as expected. It was done during
day using van Goh s imagination. According to van Goh, he always expressed his liking to draw a
painting portraying the sky at night. Van Goh s works on the starry night was inspired by the night
skies and surroundings of the asylum where he was receiving treatment due to breakdowns (Brooks,
2012). The title of the painting, the starry night , goes hand in hand with what the painting tries to
describe. The painting reflects emotions and expressiveness. A group of curvy black lines that seem to
originate from a point dominate the left side of the painting. There is a town on the lower right that
extends up to the hills. As the title goes, the painting is set at night. The sky has been done in a swirl
that bursts out in to blues, greens and gentle yellow. The center part of the painting is the moon which
is shown by a yellow dot. The dark lines that stark up on the right side tend to stand for a plant. The
town is marked by small dots on the houses perhaps showing electricity lights or lamp lights sealing
the fact that painting setting is night time. The objective of the painter was to depict the night time in a
small town. The painting has its kind of mystery because of

It has to be more than trifling. It was confirmed in Chan Fook [1994] that it includes psychological
injury which amounts to a recognised clinical condition and there must be medical evidence to support
it. Mere distress or emotion would not be sufficient. Stan was more than merely depressed. He was
suffering from depression which is a recognised clinical condition and he would have medical
evidence of this so ABH is satisfied.
The word occasioning simply means caused the case of Roberts (1971) denotes that the injury must be

The ABH must be caused by an assault. Here the assault would be a technical assault. A technical

Alfonso Cuaron s Use Of Symbolism In Children Of Men
Cinematic techniques play an essential part in a film s quest to create a particular effect or to uncover
a particular theme. The dystopian movie, Children of Men, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, incorporates
numerous symbols to convey a much broader meaning to its theme driven story line. The symbols in
the film play a significant role helping explain the two main underlying themes in the film, which are
hope and the coming of age. Without the use of the many symbols, it would be difficult to understand
the main themes the film is trying to explore. In this paper I argue how the use of symbols bring a
deeper meaning to the story by unveiling some important traits in the characters. I also argue how
symbol usage uncovers the themes of hope and the coming of age that the film is exploring. The first
symbol that Cuaron explores is one of a biblical reference. The main character in the film, Theo,
portrays many similarities to Jesus. One may not initially see this, but after close analysis, it becomes
very clear that spirituality is embedded in the storyline. During the majority of the film, Theo is
encompassed by weapons but remains peaceful and never resorts to violence while protecting Kee
throughout his journey. Also, animals surround Theo, which are a symbol that is supposed to illustrate
Theo s righteousness and integrity. This is shown in contrast to the humans living in cages, illustrating
the significant theme of hope that Theo represents. Arguably the most powerful

Examples Of Mercy And Compassion
There are so many ways on how to practice mercy and compassion. There are three simple steps given
to us by Pope Francis during his apostolic visit here in the Philippines on how to become ministers of
mercy and compassion. First is to rest with God. Second is to renew one s self. Third is to love others.
Pope Francis tells us that To be an ambassador for Christ means to invite everyone to a renewed
personal encounter with Christ. (Evangelii Gaudium). A renewed personal encounter with Christ is
witnessed when we rest with God. Rest is very crucial to everyone s life. But some people seldom
have time to rest due to hectic schedules and for some students are overflowing homeworks. Rest is
very important that even God rested during the 7th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And also there are people that we love so much but doesn t return our love back. Real love is about
loving God, and letting Him love us back. Another way of practicing mercy and compassion is to love
others. Loving others unlike the renewal of one s self focuses on giving love to other people. Loving
others is bringing Jesus to others. Loving others is not just about giving them what they need, it s
about teaching them how to provide for themselves. Let us practice mercy and compassion by resting
with God, renewing ourselves, and loving others. During the season of lent we reflect on the passion,
death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lent is a source of mercy and compassion in a way
that we practice fasting and abstinence and as much as possible drink water. Water has a chemical
formula of H2O which means, H for Honesty, H for Humility, for being humble enough to admit your
mistakes, and O for Obedience, for obeying the people in authority like our parents. These 3 are the
sources of mercy and compassion. That s why we should be honest, humble and obedient. Always
drink H20 on the season of Lent. The author spent his holy week in the Philippines.

The North Korean Famine
North Korea has been receiving financial support from the United Nations as well as food supplies.
Many people would claim that North Korea has an ongoing famine due to the floods they would
continuously experience throughout the years, damaging the soil. Others would argue and say that the
famine happened because North Korea is a communist country and the military is purposefully
starving their people. Regardless of these arguments, the fact still remains, the people of North Korea
are dying rapidly due to malnutrition. The only solution feasible to this problem would be to send
agricultural scientists over to North Korea and help restore the damaged soil, so that it may grow
healthy crops once again. North Korea is facing a dangerous famine ... Show more content on

The reason for this, is because it will cost millions of dollars to try and restore even a portion of the
land in North Korea. According to Phil McKenna, North Korean scientists told the delegates that they
would like to reforest hillsides with trees, including the Japanese chestnut, black chokeberry, and
Korean pine, that could both stabilize the soil and provide edible fruits and seeds. But funding for such
reforestation appears tight (McKenna 17). The solution is possible, however, it will cost too much to
fix. There have been ideas of trying to restore everything back to the way it used to be, but there are
insufficient funds to do so. It is cheaper to send North Korea supplies of food and some money, rather
than doing something that will benefit all of North Korea. Not to mention the fact this solution is short
term and does not benefit North Korea as much as the previous solution would. Money seems to be
the only problem with this solution, Even if the nurseries were running at full capacity, North Korea
would still have a long road ahead of it. Bowers estimates that reforesting even half the country would
cost around $46 billion, an amount that exceeds the nation s annual gross domestic product by $6
billion (McKenna 17). If Kim Jong Un were willing to provide their own money into this solution,
there would be better soil and crops in North Korea. This solution is not an easy one to overcome,
however, it will be worth every penny in the

A Discussion On Catechism s Role In Western Civilization
A Discussion on Catechism
Religion had a prominent role in Western Civilization because it established morals and changed
social interaction among humans. Christianity was one of the most influential and widespread
religions, due to, its individualism that made each human become accountable for their own actions.
Catechism is a written guide to christians to better understand the principles of their religion. Martin
Luther was a Christian who occupied the chair of Biblical Theology and stressed the importance of
learning the full extent of Christianity. He was so devoted to his beliefs that he even sparked
controversy in the pope s ability to remit temporal punishment (64).
Martin Luther found a key importance in teaching people about their religion through the use of daily
readings of the Catechism. Martin Luther received a doctorate in theology in 1512 and used his
knowledge to educate people (64). It upset Martin that people accepted christianity ... Show more

The Economic Factors Of Slave Labor In The 1600s In America
In Virginia, the Chesapeake Bay area during the 1600s the slave community evolved over a long
period of time. Problems occurred regarding their labor that had an important influence on the switch
to a society dominated by slave labor. During the 1600s labor in the Chesapeake shifted to slave
society because of a shift in culture, economic issues, and frustrations of the tobacco market boom.
Each of these reasons all relates back to the labor problem the colonists were facing in Virginia. As
mentioned above, one of the reasons that shifted the Chesapeake Bay area into a slave society was a
shift in culture. In the early decades, people s economic status was an important identifier for what
benefits they could receive, or what they could and could not do. Later in the century, this all changes.
Anthony Johnson, who is African, arrives in the Chesapeake in 1621. When Anthony arrived, he was
considered unfree and worked in a tobacco field with both whites and blacks since at this time
economic status was still the main identifier for individuals. Anthony Jackson was considered an
unusual or lucky man for many reasons. In fact, some of the reasons that made him incredibly lucky
was that he did not die from diseases unlike other people in the Chesapeake, he finds a female
companionship who also survives, and in 1630 Anthony buys both his and his wife s freedom. In
addition, another unusual thing about Anthony was that in 1640 he becomes a plantation owner.

The effects caused by earthquakes are devastating. They cause loss of human life and have effects on
infrastructure and economy. Earthquakes can happen at any time anywhere. In January 12, 2010 an
earthquake of a magnitude of 7.0 hit the nation of Haiti. An estimation of 316,000 people were killed,
and more than 1.3 million Haitians were left homeless (Earthquake Information for 2010). Haiti was
in a terrified chaos. After the earthquake, families were separated because many of the members were
killed. Homes, schools, and hospitals were demolished. People lost their most valuable belongings. It

someone to give them help. They are waiting for the Americans to bring aid to their country (In Haiti,
children are the most vulnerable). In addition, international aid has contributed to assist people with
mental and psychological problems caused by the earthquake. Partners in Health contribute in the
construction of public teaching hospital in March 2013. The hospital is offering health care services to
the poor people of Haiti. The PIH assists people who suffer from depression and stress. The PIH train
community health workers that would be able to recognize the mental or physiological of the patient

welfare of many homeless children. The UNICEF is working to bring education, safety, and
counseling to homeless children (2010 Earthquake in Haiti). The fate of many children in Haiti is
uncertain. The hope of the children and other survivors is to be able able to overcome the
psychological trauma caused by losing their parents, home etc. by the earthquake. In short, the

Analysis on Four Different Anthropological Projects from...
I chose four different anthropological projects from around the word in which I believe would be best
for the Archaeology Conservancy to protect. I ranked these different projects based on quality of
work, potential for public use, threatened nature, and heritage importance. I first reviewed the Mosfell
Archeological project in Iceland. This area will construct a vivid picture of the human and
environmental change in southwestern Ireland. The purpose of this project is to find the prehistory and
early history of the Mosfell region. I also looked into the Pylos Regional Archaeological project. This
project started in 1990 to look at prehistoric settlements in western Messenia, Greece. The Yaxuna
project caught my attention because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mosfell project interacts with the Mosfellsbaer community and with the Museum of Iceland. They
also corroborate with the United States Embassy of Iceland for monetary funding. Their website
attempts to get information to reach a greater audience by including videos of what they are doing in
Mosfell as well as some footage of them excavating. They do not offer programs for students to learn
any methods in the archaeological field. I believe the intended the audience for the Mosfell website is
for other archaeologists and for people interested in the Viking culture. I believe the purpose is to find
more people who would like to help out with their intended research. This project is not competing
with time because as of now no one is trying to destroy it. However, this area is very important to find
out more about the Vikings. This area is fundamental for this research and is worth protecting to
ensure every piece linking to better knowledge of these people is found and saved. After reviewing
this project I believe the quality of work is really good there was a lot of work put into the project, and
the potential for public use I think is also good because it can cause an increase in visitation to the area
which in turn increases Ireland s incoming money. I do not see any reason for threatened nature and
believe that heritage of any area is highly important.
The Pylos Regional Archaeological project was established in 1990 for the purpose of

The Economics Of Renewable Energy
This paper reports on the microeconomic aspect of obtaining the energy that is present in the
environment. A number of factors including the rapidly growing demand for energy to fuel economic
development, the need by countries to diversify their energy production into environmentally
sustainable supply sources while concurrently taking into careful consideration climate change, energy
security and economic factors have all served to greatly contribute towards the current accelerated
private and public investment in renewable energy. While numerous countries around the world have
been able to design attractive incentive structures that aim at inducing private investment in obtaining
the renewable energy that is present in the environment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of producing renewable energy from the environment has undergone a significant decrease of
the past 15 20 years as a result of drastic enhancements in not only the economies of scale, but also the
technology that is related to production. Renewable energy s future prospects are noted to be even
more promising in light of the continually falling costs involved in producing this energy as well as
the growing awareness of the energy and environmental security benefits that these technologies
provide.
Renewable energies have variously been defined as those energies that are easily derived from simple
natural process and can be constantly replenished from these sources without exhausting these
sources. This form of energy is usually derived either indirectly or directly from the sun or from the
geothermal heat that is that present from deep within the earth (Jordan Korte, 2011).
The growing global concerns pertaining to the issue of climate change and the effect that this is having
on the planet have led to growing interest in the renewable energy technologies. This is exemplified
by the fact that a number of industrialized countries have over the years moved to make significant
investments in developing countries aimed at developing renewable energy sources under the
provisions of the Clean Development Mechanism that was included in the Kyoto Protocol (UNEP,
2008). Developing countries are investing in renewable

Taking a Look at the Iranian Revolution
Revolution means to bring a change in something. In politics, it basically means to over throw a
government with another government system. There are many revolutions took place in history and
the Iranian revolution was one of them. Iranian revolution brought a big change in the Iranian society
by over throwing the Shah s government and establishing a new system called Islamic republic.
Iranian revolution has also a lot of impact on Islamic countries. The Iranian revolution was the one of
the most positive revolution which is ever took place in Iran.
There are many names for Iranian revolution which took place in 1979. One of the named for this
revolution was Islamic revolution of Iran. This revolution is about to over throw an old monarchy
system with a new system. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was the leader of Iran before the
revolution. He was also supported by the United States, but Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini replaced his
government with an Islamic republic. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was the man who started the
revolution. He has a lot of support from different Islamic organizations such as Iranian student
movements. Although, Soviet Union suddenly recognized the new Islamic republic of Iran, but they
did not supported the revolution. Soviet Union saw this as an opportunity to further advance their
communist agenda and increase its allies in Middle East. In October 1977, there were demonstrations

The Use of Force by Carlos Williams Essay examples
The Use of Force
In Carlos Williams s short story, The Use of Force, the doctor s use of force is portrayed in a way that
is controversial. Controversial in that it could easily be argued either that the doctor has complete
reason to use force upon the girl, or that the doctor has no right to use any amount of force upon the
girl without her consent. It could also be argued either that the results of the doctor s use of force is a
success or a failure. I feel that the doctor has reason to use force upon the girl in order to check her
tonsils for a number of reasons. I believe this because the doctor has reason to use force because he
believes that the girl has diphtheria based on his knowledge of numbers of other children at her ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The doctor as well as the parents of the girl knew that there was a good chance that the girl might have
a case of diphtheria. The doctor describes this basis of knowledge by saying, As it happens we had
been having a number of cases of diphtheria in the school to which this child went during that month
and we were all, quite apparently, thinking of that, though no one had as yet spoken of the thing. (1)
It is made apparent that the girl has the symptoms of a person with the disease, thus adding to the
doctors reason to believe that she has diphtheria. However the doctor is unable to make a final
determination without inspecting her tonsils. And once he finally does see her tonsils he is able to
determine that he does indeed have diphtheria, thus justifying his necessity to use force in order to
inspect her tonsils. The doctor describes his victory by saying, I forced the heavy silver spoon back of
her teeth and down her throat till she gagged. And there it was Both tonsils covered with membrane.
(3)
The most important reason for the justification of the doctor s use of force is that he has the
permission and cooperation of the girl s parents. It is possible that the girl simply didn t understand
that the doctor was trying to help her. And at that young of an age a child s parents have authority over
matters like this. The mother has her doubts

We have the blues, folk music, classical, country, hip hop, pop, reggae, and rock and roll. Rock and

especially from the hair bands. Guns N Roses, a one of the most popular rock and roll bands ever,
produced some of the best rock and roll the world has seen. Back in 1985, two local bands from Los

Duff McKagen had his connections in the Seattle area, so he booked them some gigs. However, their
first gig did not go as plan, starting from the drive from their home base in Los Angeles. While driving
on Interstate 5, their van broke down, leading them to hitchhike the rest of the way to Seattle. Their
first gig with The Flashbacks was only seen by 13 people and did not get the original $250 they were

Self Preservation Is Not The Bee s Knees Essay
Self Preservation is Not the Bee s Knees: A Refutation to Part III of Spinoza s Ethics
Benedict de Spinoza takes an unique stance in his Ethics, claiming all things exist only to prolong
their own existence and preserve their essence. Yet there are plenty of examples in nature alone that
seem to counter his claims where creatures strive for an action that will lead to their deaths, as seen in
the case of various species of spiders and bees. However, Spinoza s claim that things strive to preserve
their essence fails to fulfill his goal in explaining how and why nature works the way it does, as seen
in the case with self sacrificial spiders as well as the behavioral and biological aspects of male bees
(drones). Thus, I argue that although Spinoza tries to move away from a teleological account of the
world to a more mechanistic one by introducing his idea of self preservation, his idea is lacking and is
unable to actually explain anything in depth, and we therefore must look to Aristotle s account of final
causes to actually understand the behavior of aforementioned creatures. In order to develop my
argument I will begin by discussing Spinoza s stance on the self preservation of essence and why his
account fails to actually provide an in depth explanation about how nature works, and then I will look
at the behavior of male redback spiders as well as the self destructive biology of male bees which will
help demonstrate why Aristotle s teleological account of nature is still

Epic Of Gilgamesh Analysis
In the Epic of Gilgamesh , it is easy to conclude that Gilgamesh, the protagonist of the story, is the
hero. In Like Mayflies in a Stream , Gilgamesh is merely a scary person who appears in the story here
or there rather than being the protagonist. Instead, Shamhat is the main person that the story focuses
on, but the book is imprecise on one hero of the entire story. There are numerous characters that could
reflect hero aspects such as going on a quest, having another to help guide them, or facing trials.
Personally, I believe that there is no true hero in this story due to the nature that Shamhat is a woman,
who were represented badly during this time, and that Shauna Roberts did not want to misrepresent
the epic due to extreme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This singular word, only , immediately tells us as a reader that they are looked down upon, are not as
good as men, and are not as important to society. Along with this, many people call Shamhat a whore
when her pregnant stomach begins to show. Women, and girls for that matter, as Nameshda was only
13, were raped by Gilgamesh. Shamhat is the older sister in her family, yet her younger brother
Geshtu gets to make all of the decisions for the family. The scenarios in this book are contemplative of
how women are viewed and treated compared to the men of society. Patriarchy is correct by their
standards, and having women in any sort of important role is almost nonexistent. Due to this
condescending view, we can understand why it would be difficult to have Shamhat as the hero in this
story. If men are the superior ones, wouldn t it make sense to have a man as the hero? In the event that
a woman was a hero in this story, it may make readers predict that the entire society will change their
outlook on women by the end of the story. On the other hand, others may think that Roberts was trying
too hard to modernize this epic. With this issue, Roberts could fear that creating this story with a
female hero may be too contemporary and take away from the true epic. She already modernized the
book somewhat by adding in a love triangle and happily ever after ending. Adding a female hero may

Companies And Organizations Of All Types All Face A Common...
Companies and organizations of all types all face a common challenge: to evaluate how they want to
be seen against the reality of how they are actually seen by various stakeholder groups and publics.
How a company wants to be seen is known as its corporate vision. The corporate vision of a company
explains the long term goals and ambitions of a company. A company s reputation, however, is how a
company is seen overall, compared to its nearest rivals. Companies are able to establish strong
reputations when they have high levels of visibility, distinctiveness, transparency, authenticity,
transparency, and consistency (Cornelissen, 2014, p. 2). When companies have strong reputations,
they are able to lead in their industries and have the favor of stakeholder groups. Companies often
define a corporate vision for their organization. A corporate vision is the desired future state of the
organization...an aspirational view of the general direction that a company wants to go in (Cornelissen,
2014, p. 8). When a company s corporate vision does not match their company s reputation, the
resulting gap must be analyzed and assessed. If the gap is small, then it needs to be maintained so that
it doesn t grow wider. If the reputation is weak, then the gap must be closed to meet the corporate
vision for the success of the corporation. At this point, a strategic intent is formed to help bridge or
maintain the gap that exists between the corporation s vision and its corporate reputation. A

It can be assessed that security guards indirectly affect the economy, because their protection allows
people to work and spend money, which helps to restore the economy. Having security guards in any
facility makes people feel safe and protected; and such a responsibility of public trust should entitle
them to a higher salary. Moreover, they deserve more pay because protecting people is a difficult task,
and a high percentage of people do not cooperate with authority. Some people object to having
security guards in facilities and around them; which makes the job of a security officer more complex.
The challenge of having to protect a facility is a tough job, but protecting a facility on a 24 hour basis

People should consider the purpose of security guards, and acknowledge them accordingly.

Theme Of Profit In Great Expectations
When one gains immense profit at the loss of their soul, all is lost in the end. This is the point that
Dickens is trying to make with the main character in his novel Great Expectations. Profit does not
mean loss in the literal sense, but when you gain something materialistic at the loss of something
sentimental, profit means loss. In the novel, Pip, the main character, leaves his home and moves to
England and makes immense profit in money, only to lose it all. In Great Expectations, the giving of
the soul at the gain of the world is explored through Pip and Miss Havisham. Pip moves to England
and becomes wealthy; Pip now thinks that money is the best thing in the world. Pip then returns to his
home and confesses his love to Estella, Estella doesn t love him back. Pip now realizes that money
cannot buy happiness. Miss. Havisham, on the other hand, is the aftermath of gaining materialistic
things at the loss of her soul. When we first meet her, she is dressed as if she was going to a wedding,
but most of her clothes are scattered about. She already knows that money did not fulfill her dreams
and now there is nothing to be done about it. In Great Expectations we explore Pip s ups and downs as
he moves throughout the world trying to understand the hardships that come with it. Pip starts as a

Racism within To Kill a MockingBird There are many things cause by humans that can separate a
world and hurt very many people at one time. Anger or greed are some of the things we are all
fighting. However, neither of those come close to racism. The world s worst prejudice is racism, To
Kill a Mockingbird presented us with racism within their community and everyone was being hurt by
it. To Kill a Mockingbird was written during the depression when racism was unfortunately accepted.
This book shows how a family in a small southern town wanted it to stop. In every situation life
throws at us someone always disagrees. In Maycomb, there was a whole crowd. As read in this Novel
by Harper Lee, she shows that a community with differences always goes down as a whole. Racism
took a huge role in every little part of To Kill a Mockingbird. By far the worst victim was Tom
Robinson. Tom is the black man who plead guilty of raping a white woman, Mayella Ewell. Tom was
accused by Mayella s lying father Bob Ewell. Tom was brought to court and had a all white jury.

world s leading online casino brands, but a corruption investigation into money laundering has
threated to bring it all crashing down. In the wake of the Malta Gambling Authority (MGA) has spoke
up to say that they wish to reform the industry on a whole later this year.
What has made Malta so appealing to online casino developers and operators is the fact that the nation
is rather relaxed when it comes to legislation. The problem is that this has gone to create more
problems than it has solutions over time. That is until now, as the MGA is looking to clean up the
nations image and modernise gambling laws. According to Jose Herrera (Maltese Parliamentary
Secretary for Competitive and Economic Growth) the gambling laws in the country will be brought
before parliament this November. This announcement comes hot on the heels of a prior report from
the MGA that said that it has been trying to push through reforms for over two years.
In many ways it is the famous hands off approach from Malta that has led to the issues and the need
for reform. The country s low tax approach has allowed many operators to start operations without any
real background checks taking place. This move may increase the level of

Sign Language Interview Paper
Coles, Adam. American Sign Language Class. Personal interview. 23 Sept. 2016. The main idea of
this interview was to get a better insight of my career in American Sign Language and if I would be
able to do my project with the Family Guidance Center. I was able to learn more about Sign Language
interpreting and how different types of interpreting I could be interested in. If I needed to explain what
my source was about I would say that this source has helped me to decide what to do my project about
and what kind of interpreting I would like to do. Also, I was able to see what kind of programs and
schools I could do to get a certificate in interpreting. This interview actually did changed the goal of

Electron Radiation
Atoms are the microscopic building blocks of all matter in the universe. Everything around us are
made of atoms, including radiation. The centre of an atom is called the nucleus, it is made of two
particles: protons, which carry a positive charge and neutrons, which have no charge. Electron carry a
negative charge and it is outside of a nucleus. The attraction of these negative electrons to the positive
nucleus is what keep the atom together. All the atom of the given elements has a specific number of
protons and neutrons, but sometimes it will have too many of those and become radioactive and an
unstable atom is called a radioisotope. When radioactive want to be stable again, they must release
energy until they get back to a balanced state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant leaks radioactive water into underground and to
sea. The effect cause earthquake in 2011. After the earth quake on June 2011, scientists measured that
5,000 to 15,000 terabecquerels of radioactive material was reaching the ocean. Since the incident in
2011, scientists measured levels of radioactivity in fish and other sea life. Several species of fish from
this area had caesium levels that exceeded Japan s regulatory limit for seafood. Scientists say the
groundwater leaks could become worse, but warn against drawing conclusions about the impacts on
sea life before peer reviewed studies are completed. Secondly, gamma rays can be used in medical
treatment to kill cancer cell. However gamma can be extremely dangerous because they are a very
powerful source of power, if they delivered in an unmonitored and uncontrolled way they can kill
humans, animals and plants. Gamma rays however can also disrupt the physical properties of
materials. They can cause plastics and steel to become brittle and to eventually break.
In conclusion, radioactivity has both negative and positive aspects. Negative impacts include the
radiation leaking and damage healthy organism or cell during treatment while positive aspects consist
of many different uses in medical science, security and daily life items. I support the uses of
radioactivity because the positive aspects outweigh the negative aspects and I believe that in the future
the radioactivity can be used positively in many other

Alexander II And Alexander The Great
A tactician is defined as someone who is good at planning tactics; Philip II and Alexander the Great
would not fall under this name because they were not good at planning tactics, they were disputed to
be the best at planning them. Alexander III the Great was born in 356 BC in the capital of Macedonia;
Pella. Growing up Alexander watched his father turn Macedonia into a great military power . Philip II
was the first to create an unstoppable Macedonian army and his son Alexander would further expand
the efficiency and power of such army. In the spring of 336 BC a Macedonian noble named Pausanias
assassinated Philip II . With Philip s death came many new changes to the empires known at that time.
Alexander III as Philip s only successor became king at the age of twenty and Philip s dream of
conquering the Persian Empire was now on the shoulders of Alexander . This would be the driving
force for the fall of the Persian Empire and the huge expansion of the Macedonian Empire. Within 13
years Alexander created the largest empire of his time; this was done by, being a military genius that
used lateral thinking to defeat often larger and superior forces, a disciplined army created by his father
Philip II and the spread of increased trade routes along with the acceptance of Greek civilization and
ideas.
Philip II ascended the throne in what was one of the most difficult times of Macedonia. As King,
Philips first steps were to reorganize the Macedonian army. Diodorus lists Philip s

Examples Of Allusion In Shrek
Allusions Another type of translation technique used in Shrek series by Wierzbięta is allusion, a
reference to a particular event, person, thing, piece of literature or art. For instance, the authors of
Shrek made allusions to a number of fairy tales, like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, that Polish
audience is also familiar with and for that reason they will be able to understand them and fully
appreciate their entertaining function. The allusion to the popular film productions, like Mission
Impossible or Baywatch are also noticeable in the whole series. The majority of such allusions in
Shrek is rooted in the visual rather than aural aspect of the film and in consequence, is not of translator

In this report I will be explaining the different legal and ethical procedures that employees at Leyton
Sixth Form must follow. By doing this I will be discussing the data protection legislation, codes of
practice and operational issues. I will be linking it back to how Leyton Sixth Form College uses this
information and how they respond to a staff member breaking that act.
Data protection legislation:
Data Protection Act 1998
The data protection Act 1998 is how personal information of living people is being used. The main
intention is to protect people s data from being used illegally. The principles of the data protection act

One of the policy the college may set is how they use the internet. If they break those rules they could
face a severe consequence for not following the rules. The college must have a specific purpose of
using the internet. For example, they can have access to the internet to access their emails or websites
that will help them create a presentation to teach their students. They are not allowed to access certain
inappropriate websites as it is irrelevant to their jobs and some websites may have viruses that could
affect the computer system. As they work in a college, teachers have access to websites that students
don t. However, if they are caught trying to gain access to that site they may suffer severe
consequences from the head of the college which may result in the staff being sacked for breaking the
college rules they signed in their contract. They are allowed to use the internet for their own personal

Nursing Education
1.1 AIMS OF NURSING EDUCATION This concept was taken from module 1 Introduction to
Nursing education , sub topic 1 Concepts of nursing education . Nursing education can be defined as a
practical and theoritical training given to either student nurses or nurses with the sole aim of preparing
them towards carrying out their profesional duties as nurses. In my explanation I included nurses
because nursing education is not meant for student nurses alone, even the registered nurses can still
undergo some training to help them upgrade themselves and give effective nursing care to their
patients. Nursing education can also be defined as a professional education which is delibrately
planned and carried out through instructions and discipline for the purpose of physical, social,

Chicken Salad Essay
Can you freeze chicken salad? Even one with Mayonnaise?
Chicken salad is a must have dish at every party; whether it s breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea time, or any
other meal, chicken salad is bound to make an appearance in one form or another. So, it makes sense
that, instead of making this salad every time, you just make a batch and freeze it so you can use it
whenever you want.
Furthermore, being able to freeze chicken salad means you don t have to cram your refrigerator full
every time you have a leftover chicken salad. But the main question here is can you freeze chicken
salad at all? And will freezing it affect its taste? Fortunately, we have the answers to your questions,
and they are good.
Freezing chicken Salad; to do or not to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because dressings like mayonnaise, yogurt, or any other dairy based dressing tend to split when
frozen. This means that they release a lot of water, which will soak your salad and destroy its flavor, or
let bacteria grow in it which, of course, will make the salad inedible.
However, if you ve used a little amount of mayonnaise in your salad, you can freeze it easily as it won
t release as much water. Once thawed, you can simply drain that water and freshen your salad up by
adding a little bit of cornstarch in it. You can also add some fresh mayonnaise or any other dressing to
improve the taste of the salad.
A tip to keep in mind is to use store bought mayonnaise when making chicken salad as it is more
suitable for freezing for a longer period of time.
Conclusion
Freezing chicken salad isn t much of a hassle. In fact, it can help you enjoy your favorite dish anytime.
Also, thawed chicken salad makes for a wonderful condiment to many other dishes. Freezing chicken
salad is, therefore, a very good idea.

The United States Essay
1. The Commonwealth They Served
The weather was seasonally cold in Pennsylvania s Capitol late in 1914. On Sunday morning,
December 27, the temperature was 1 degree Fahrenheit. This reading was the lowest ever registered in
the last month of the year during the almost three decade history of the Harrisburg weather station.
Nevertheless, the cold did not dim the spirit of the holiday season as the Harrisburg Evening Telegraph
newspaper cheerfully proclaimed, Perfect Christmas Makes City Happy.
During that week, Governor John K. Tener, in the last month of his term, released a legislatively
mandated report that made history. The Report of the Economy and Efficiency Commission, for one
of the very few times in Pennsylvania s Chronicle, provided the public with a roster of all 5,152 state
employees. The release of this document was a key milestone in the Commonwealth s early 20th
century effort to improve its personnel management practices.
By listing names, this document provides an opportunity to recognize the often unheralded
contributions of selected state employees assigned to organizations under the general supervision of
the Governor. The register also affords an invaluable chance to appreciate how the offices, bureaus,
and divisions make Pennsylvania work. Researching their efforts brought to light a collective
commitment to assist the public. This attribute is a common virtue among Pennsylvania state
employees, both past and present. It is the one thing

  • 3. San Diego Water Crisis Leonardo da Vinci, famous artist, engineer, philosopher, and scientist, once said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Water is one of, if not the most valuable resource for all life. Although 71% of the Earth is water, only 2.5% of it is fresh and safe for human consumption. Despite previously being considered a renewable resource, water is becoming scarce, especially in California. As more and more water is disappearing, California is struggling to find a solution to its unprecedented drought. Solutions thus far imported water, desalination, and ridiculous restrictions on use have not made a significant enough impact. However, a new, revolutionary resolution has appeared: potable water. Potable, or recycled, water is water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pure Water project, a project that plans to construct three recycling plants to produce San Diego s water supply, only requires $3.5 billion to get started inexpensive in comparison to the amount of money it takes to import, partially purify, and desalinate water. An example of the ever growing expense of imported water can be found in the article Council unanimously approves purifying sewage into drinking water , which was published to UT San Diego on November 18, 2014. In this informational article, author David Garrick states, Councilman Scott Sherman said San Diego must fight back against sharply rising costs of imported water. Potable water is the best way to combat the increasing prices of imported water. Rather than relying on water from the Colorado River San Diego s main supplier existing water can be purified and reused. In the same article, it is also stated that, In addition, recycling wastewater... would allow the city to avoid spending about $2.1 billion in upgrades needed at the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant (Garrick). As mentioned in the quotation, San Diego is already spending generous amounts of money on water. This can be remedied, however, with the implication of potable water, which costs significantly less. Another one of San Diego s pricey water sources is desalination. Desalination is the high cost, high energy process of purifying salt water to make it drinkable. In the nonfiction article OC Coastkeeper: San Diego Swindled By Desalination, Don t Let OC Be Next , published on February 3, 2016 to voiceofoc.org by author Ray Hiemstra, it is stated that, San Diego is forced to pay for the most expensive water on the market whether they need it or not , in reference to the desalination plant managed by ... My first real writing assignment was in 8th grade when I did a research paper on comics. I had the freedom to talk about what I wanted and could use a multitude of sources. Looking back, I do not know how good it was but I put a lot of interest and time into the paper. My next real paper was not until my junior year where we had to write a junior paper. This was a research paper and my topic was Internet Censorship . I like this because it was a topic I was interested in and it was a fun paper to write. A writing session for me can be around thirty minutes or an hour and a half. If it becomes longer than thirty minutes I like to take short breaks. Once I am done I put my paper through a program like PaperGrader to analyze any grammar mistakes. I guess this would be my revising part of the writing process. It also helps with things like word usage, checking plagiarism, and parts of a paper like passive voice. This part, like pre writing, is not very long. I revise quickly because I feel that all the hard work of writing is already done, I just want to make sure my paper is free of as much mistakes as possible. After putting my paper through PaperGrader I go through and fix those mistakes and reread my paper to see if I like the flow, the word choice, and just to make sure everything works. I do not have many writing rules that apply while actually composing. If anything, I use my writing rules as a guideline and apply them while I am revising. To me, a good paper is one that easily conveys your points but can also hold attention so I like to make sure I do not write repetitively. That said, I always put my thesis statement at the end of my introductory paragraph. I was told you do not want to give it away in the first sentence. Another one is I try to never use the words very, stuff, and things. I was told very is unnecessary and stuff and things is lazy and you can always be more specific. As new phones begin to develop young kids have the urge to buy them to appear cool to their surrounding peers. In an ebook, Discourse of Text Messaging: Analysis of SMS Communication, written by Caroline Tagg reads this, In 2010 it was estimated that 200,000 text messages were being sent every second, a three fold increase from 2007(Tagg p2). And it has also been calculated, by Ben Parr, that, the average teenager now sends 3,339 texts per month(Parr). This is an insane amount of texts. But little do these young teens know how this is greatly impacting their reading, writing, and speaking skills . Texting at a young age is very serious, is negatively affecting children s literacy, and many of the problems that come with younger aged texting can easily be avoided. Correlation between texting and grammar Many surveys have been done to show that there is a direct correlation between teen literacy and teen texting. According to Megan Gannon, Live Science Contributor, a Northwestern researcher, named Drew Cingel, did a study on the effects of using homophones and other text slang when texting and how it affects one s literacy. To do this, Drew Cingel took a group of middle school students in Pennsylvania, gave them each a grammar assessment test, and a asked them to answer couple survey questions. • 20. Alfonso Cuaron s Use Of Symbolism In Children Of Men Cinematic techniques play an essential part in a film s quest to create a particular effect or to uncover a particular theme. The dystopian movie, Children of Men, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, incorporates numerous symbols to convey a much broader meaning to its theme driven story line. The symbols in the film play a significant role helping explain the two main underlying themes in the film, which are hope and the coming of age. Without the use of the many symbols, it would be difficult to understand the main themes the film is trying to explore. In this paper I argue how the use of symbols bring a deeper meaning to the story by unveiling some important traits in the characters. I also argue how symbol usage uncovers the themes of hope and the coming of age that the film is exploring. The first symbol that Cuaron explores is one of a biblical reference. The main character in the film, Theo, portrays many similarities to Jesus. One may not initially see this, but after close analysis, it becomes very clear that spirituality is embedded in the storyline. During the majority of the film, Theo is encompassed by weapons but remains peaceful and never resorts to violence while protecting Kee throughout his journey. Also, animals surround Theo, which are a symbol that is supposed to illustrate Theo s righteousness and integrity. This is shown in contrast to the humans living in cages, illustrating the significant theme of hope that Theo represents. Arguably the most powerful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people would claim that North Korea has an ongoing famine due to the floods they would continuously experience throughout the years, damaging the soil. Others would argue and say that the famine happened because North Korea is a communist country and the military is purposefully starving their people. Regardless of these arguments, the fact still remains, the people of North Korea are dying rapidly due to malnutrition. The only solution feasible to this problem would be to send agricultural scientists over to North Korea and help restore the damaged soil, so that it may grow healthy crops once again. North Korea is facing a dangerous famine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this, is because it will cost millions of dollars to try and restore even a portion of the land in North Korea. According to Phil McKenna, North Korean scientists told the delegates that they would like to reforest hillsides with trees, including the Japanese chestnut, black chokeberry, and Korean pine, that could both stabilize the soil and provide edible fruits and seeds. But funding for such reforestation appears tight (McKenna 17). The solution is possible, however, it will cost too much to fix. There have been ideas of trying to restore everything back to the way it used to be, but there are insufficient funds to do so. • 24. The Economic Factors Of Slave Labor In The 1600s In America In Virginia, the Chesapeake Bay area during the 1600s the slave community evolved over a long period of time. Problems occurred regarding their labor that had an important influence on the switch to a society dominated by slave labor. During the 1600s labor in the Chesapeake shifted to slave society because of a shift in culture, economic issues, and frustrations of the tobacco market boom. Each of these reasons all relates back to the labor problem the colonists were facing in Virginia. As mentioned above, one of the reasons that shifted the Chesapeake Bay area into a slave society was a shift in culture. In the early decades, people s economic status was an important identifier for what benefits they could receive, or what they could and could not do. Later in the century, this all changes. Anthony Johnson, who is African, arrives in the Chesapeake in 1621. When Anthony arrived, he was considered unfree and worked in a tobacco field with both whites and blacks since at this time economic status was still the main identifier for individuals. Anthony Jackson was considered an unusual or lucky man for many reasons. In fact, some of the reasons that made him incredibly lucky was that he did not die from diseases unlike other people in the Chesapeake, he finds a female companionship who also survives, and in 1630 Anthony buys both his and his wife s freedom. In addition, another unusual thing about Anthony was that in 1640 he becomes a plantation owner. Strangely enough, on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I chose four different anthropological projects from around the word in which I believe would be best for the Archaeology Conservancy to protect. I ranked these different projects based on quality of work, potential for public use, threatened nature, and heritage importance. I first reviewed the Mosfell Archeological project in Iceland. This area will construct a vivid picture of the human and environmental change in southwestern Ireland. The purpose of this project is to find the prehistory and early history of the Mosfell region. I also looked into the Pylos Regional Archaeological project. This project started in 1990 to look at prehistoric settlements in western Messenia, Greece. Their website attempts to get information to reach a greater audience by including videos of what they are doing in Mosfell as well as some footage of them excavating. They do not offer programs for students to learn any methods in the archaeological field. I believe the intended the audience for the Mosfell website is for other archaeologists and for people interested in the Viking culture. I believe the purpose is to find more people who would like to help out with their intended research. This project is not competing with time because as of now no one is trying to destroy it. However, this area is very important to find out more about the Vikings. This area is fundamental for this research and is worth protecting to ensure every piece linking to better knowledge of these people is found and saved. After reviewing this project I believe the quality of work is really good there was a lot of work put into the project, and the potential for public use I think is also good because it can cause an increase in visitation to the area which in turn increases Ireland s incoming money. I do not see any reason for threatened nature and believe that heritage of any area is highly important. The Pylos Regional Archaeological project was established in 1990 for the purpose of ... Renewable energies have variously been defined as those energies that are easily derived from simple natural process and can be constantly replenished from these sources without exhausting these sources. This form of energy is usually derived either indirectly or directly from the sun or from the geothermal heat that is that present from deep within the earth (Jordan Korte, 2011). • 32. Self Preservation Is Not The Bee s Knees Essay Self Preservation is Not the Bee s Knees: A Refutation to Part III of Spinoza s Ethics Benedict de Spinoza takes an unique stance in his Ethics, claiming all things exist only to prolong their own existence and preserve their essence. Yet there are plenty of examples in nature alone that seem to counter his claims where creatures strive for an action that will lead to their deaths, as seen in the case of various species of spiders and bees. However, Spinoza s claim that things strive to preserve their essence fails to fulfill his goal in explaining how and why nature works the way it does, as seen in the case with self sacrificial spiders as well as the behavioral and biological aspects of male bees (drones). Thus, I argue that although Spinoza tries to move away from a teleological account of the world to a more mechanistic one by introducing his idea of self preservation, his idea is lacking and is unable to actually explain anything in depth, and we therefore must look to Aristotle s account of final causes to actually understand the behavior of aforementioned creatures. In order to develop my argument I will begin by discussing Spinoza s stance on the self preservation of essence and why his account fails to actually provide an in depth explanation about how nature works, and then I will look at the behavior of male redback spiders as well as the self destructive biology of male bees which will help demonstrate why Aristotle s teleological account of nature is still ... In Like Mayflies in a Stream , Gilgamesh is merely a scary person who appears in the story here or there rather than being the protagonist. Instead, Shamhat is the main person that the story focuses on, but the book is imprecise on one hero of the entire story. There are numerous characters that could reflect hero aspects such as going on a quest, having another to help guide them, or facing trials. Along with this, many people call Shamhat a whore when her pregnant stomach begins to show. Women, and girls for that matter, as Nameshda was only 13, were raped by Gilgamesh. Shamhat is the older sister in her family, yet her younger brother Geshtu gets to make all of the decisions for the family. The scenarios in this book are contemplative of how women are viewed and treated compared to the men of society. Patriarchy is correct by their standards, and having women in any sort of important role is almost nonexistent. Due to this condescending view, we can understand why it would be difficult to have Shamhat as the hero in this story. If men are the superior ones, wouldn t it make sense to have a man as the hero? In the event that a woman was a hero in this story, it may make readers predict that the entire society will change their outlook on women by the end of the story. On the other hand, others may think that Roberts was trying too hard to modernize this epic. With this issue, Roberts could fear that creating this story with a female hero may be too contemporary and take away from the true epic. Companies and organizations of all types all face a common challenge: to evaluate how they want to be seen against the reality of how they are actually seen by various stakeholder groups and publics. How a company wants to be seen is known as its corporate vision. The corporate vision of a company explains the long term goals and ambitions of a company. A company s reputation, however, is how a company is seen overall, compared to its nearest rivals. Companies are able to establish strong reputations when they have high levels of visibility, distinctiveness, transparency, authenticity, transparency, and consistency (Cornelissen, 2014, p. 2). When companies have strong reputations, they are able to lead in their industries and have the favor of stakeholder groups. Companies often define a corporate vision for their organization. A corporate vision is the desired future state of the organization...an aspirational view of the general direction that a company wants to go in (Cornelissen, 2014, p. 8). When a company s corporate vision does not match their company s reputation, the resulting gap must be analyzed and assessed. If the gap is small, then it needs to be maintained so that it doesn t grow wider. If the reputation is weak, then the gap must be closed to meet the corporate vision for the success of the corporation. At this point, a strategic intent is formed to help bridge or maintain the gap that exists between the corporation s vision and its corporate reputation. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means that they release a lot of water, which will soak your salad and destroy its flavor, or let bacteria grow in it which, of course, will make the salad inedible. However, if you ve used a little amount of mayonnaise in your salad, you can freeze it easily as it won t release as much water. Once thawed, you can simply drain that water and freshen your salad up by adding a little bit of cornstarch in it. The release of this document was a key milestone in the Commonwealth s early 20th century effort to improve its personnel management practices. By listing names, this document provides an opportunity to recognize the often unheralded contributions of selected state employees assigned to organizations under the general supervision of the Governor. The register also affords an invaluable chance to appreciate how the offices, bureaus, and divisions make Pennsylvania work.
