makes the case that current food labels, while providing the consumer with ample information,

Violence in video games is among one of the most controversial and discussed topics up to this
day. Many believe that the violence in said video game is an exact consequence of a child s
behavior. There has been proof that violence seen in young children has increased in the United
States over the years, however, this could be due to a multitude of other factors. Research and a
meta analysis find positive linkages between children s and young adults violent video game
play and aggressive cognitions, aggressive affect, aggressive behaviors, and desensitization to
violence. Due to the rising levels of aggression, it leads children to believe that violence is the
way to deal with issues. The time children spend on these new media is ten times as much as the
time they spend on, for instance, reading for pleasure. The violent nature of the television
programs and video games to which children are exposed is of specific concern (Polman et al.
256). The result is that limitations and barriers are placed to tone down accessibility to these games,
the limitations being the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating system. The ratings
are listed here E (rated for everyone), E10+ (for everyone 10 years and older), T (appropriate for
teens), M (mature), and AO (adults only).

African American neighborhoods were devastated by Hurricane Katrina because they lived in low
line areas, whereas Whites lived in higher grounds less likely to get hit by the storms. Low income
communities were hit more because of urban areas. These areas included levees that didn t protect
homes from the storms. What is astonishing is that the government was fully aware that New
Orleans levees were failing and wouldn t hold a category five Hurricane. Yet they did nothing to
protect the humans.
Federal and local government hindered and prevented the evacuation of African Americans from
their neighborhoods. Failures included not having an evacuation plan for New Orleans. IEM which
stands for Innovative Emergency Management is compromised by the government to form an
evacuation plan for a natural disaster. In reality there was no plan that IEM had for Hurricane

Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner were two of the most influential writers of the twentieth
century. While they lived during the same period, their writing styles differed drastically. This can
be seen in texts such as Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants and A Clean, Well Lighted Place,
and Faulkner s Barn Burning . Hemingway s style puts little focus on specific characterdetails,
which makes his stories seem like they could be about any person, including the reader, while
Faulkner s style puts a lot of focus on specific character details, which makes every detail and every
character seem important to the reader. Both authors have styles indirect to their points, which
forces the readers to figure out information on their own and leaves the purposes of texts more open
to interpretation.
The writing styles of Hemingway and Faulkner differ in numerous ways, the most prominent of
which being their narrative focus. With Hemingway writing short, simple sentences, there was
little discussion of the specific traits of each of characters in his stories. In both Hills Like White
Elephants and A Clean, Well Lighted Place, the main characters are almost all unnamed. They
lack specific ages, races, or nationalities. The only details included about the characters are those
that are directly involved with the plot, such as in A Clean, Well Lighted Place, where the waiters
are labeled as being young and old . By not having any certain traits tied to the main characters,
Hemingway allows for those characters to be anyone. When the reader reads about a situation

Nicholas Stoller s Neighbors
When I got the invite to see Nicholas Stoller s work in progress comedy Neighbors back in
February, I didn t know what to expect. Of course, I knew it was going to be raunchy but my
main concern was whether the film would be actually funny. Seth Rogen s particular brand of
comedy has been largely hit or miss with me as there are times where I ve found him too
abrasive (like in 2011 s ill advised reimagining of venerable radio serial crime fighter the Green
Hornet) but when he s in a role that plays to his strengths, he can be absolutely hilarious. Despite
my mixed feelings on Rogen, the biggest wildcard in Neighbors was Zac Efron. Women
specifically teenage girls may go crazy over his baby blue eyes and perfectly formed pecs and
abs but as an actor, he s been less than impressive. With only the poster as my frame of reference,
I went into the screening of Neighbors and came out ninety minutes later in pain...because I was
laughing so hard! In fact, I enjoyed Stoller s film so much that I recently saw it a second time in
its completed form, although the only things that were missing in the work in progress version
was some post production effects and the end credits. We re barely two weeks into the summer
movie season and already we have a strong contender for best comedyof 2014.
