My Argumentative Essay On Lobbying
Every essay assignment changed my perspective on something or strengthened the knowledge I
already had but, with the Argumentative Essay I felt more engaged than ever with my assignment. The
ability to choose my topic already made me feel more in control, but i still had to critically
think. When I was determining what topic I felt more inclined to write about I was confused on which
to choose not because of lack of options but because my dilemma was that I had too much. In order to
truly pick I not only decided on what I was very passionate about, but also on a topic that I knew was
uncommon and could educate more than reiterate .I thought of Lobbying which I once wrote a speech
about and had a clear interest in. I had a lot of conversations with friends and family about lobbying
and came to the realization that it was not only important to me, but to everyone I knew whether they
knew about it or not it had a significant importance in their life. The process was interesting because I
didn t lack information, but I had a lot since it was something that I had read upon for a long time so
my struggle became the organization. I also had to make it clear and concise because I found it was
easy to become stray from your main thesis when you have a lot of information on the general topic.
My views didn t necessarily change yet the ideas and notions I had on Lobbying were strengthened by
the research I got and how I tried to deliver my argument. I felt that my essay did justice to the thesis
and my message was conveyed clearly. It was satisfying to have the counter arguments refuted because
I felt as though my message gained more value and credibility. The best way to explain the process is
by using a metaphor , I felt like a lawyer who was prepared to win for their client, except in my case
the client was my thesis and I was my own lawyer. My point was supported, but I also wanted those
which had counter ideas to feel that my argumentative essay did them justice by trying to analyze their
point of view thoroughly. When mentioning the counter argument on how lobbying should be
regulated I found validity in some of their arguments, seen by. There is no doubt that free speech
should be protected and lobbying can fall under

Essay about Comparison of Flood Stories
Comparison of Flood Stories There have been numerous flood stories identified from ancient sources
throughout the world. The Bible and the Koran both have flood stories that are similar but also share
differences. The Epic of Gilgamesh also has a flood myth that is contrary to other flood accounts.
Even though these stories are all dissimilar they all start because of the faults of man.
The notion of the flood comes from a varied source in each story. In the Koran it was Noah who asked
God to flood the Earth because of man s sins while in the Bible,
God called down upon Noah and told him of the plan to flood the Earth and destroy all that was upon
it because of man s wickedness. In Gilgamesh the flood comes to Utnapishtim in a ... Show more

The Bible states that Noah took only his family members and two of each animal. In the Epic of
Gilgamesh it is said that Utnapishtim took not only family members but others as well including
craftsmen and a pilot for the boat. Utnapishtim also took some of every species of animal with him
because he was told to do so in his dream.
The source of the waters and the duration of the excursions were not the same. The Bible states that it
rained for forty days and forty nights with the water coming from heavy rain and ground water. It also
says that after Noah landed on a mountain it took a long time for the Earth to dry up. During this time
Noah sent out a raven and three doves until the last of the three doves did not return and then he knew
the land was dry. In Gilgamesh the rain only lasted for six days and six nights and after stopping on
the mountain the land did not take as long to dry up. Utnapishtim also sent out birds to see if the water
was still standing but he sent out a dove, a swallow, and a raven. When the raven did not return
Utnapishtim knew the Earth was clean. Both Noah and Utnapishtim made sacrifices at the end of the
flood and both were blessed but in different ways. Noah was told his family was blessed and to go out
and multiply while Utnapishtim was made a god and given eternal life.
It is believed that the flood story in the Bible occurred first although it was recorded at a later time by

Billy Goat Trail Essay
Billy Goat Trail The Billy Goat trail currently located in Maryland and is part of the Great Falls. After
getting familiar with the Billy Goat Trail you can see all the evidence that a great geological
phenomenon has occurred at that location. This location went through several geographical changes
that I will be mentioning along with some of the evidence from the Billy Goat Trail. The Billy Goat
Trail actually started at the bottom of the Iaptus Ocean more than 460 million years ago. At the bottom
of the ocean the sand was being deposited on top of the mud making some graded bedding that was
caused by turbidity currents. The rock that was being formed from graded bedding on the bottom of
the ocean floor was the sedimentary rock called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Acadian Orogeny not only started the mountain building in the region but also brought volcanic
activity along and this meant that the rocks in the region now where under a great amount of pressure
and extreme amount of heat.
Some of the evidence that I observed at the Billy Goat Trail from the Acadian Orogeny was the Gneiss
rocks that where hidden underneath the large boulders where we stopped for lunch. The rock Gneiss
requires high pressure and high heat because the rock has U shaped banding due to the pressure and
black and white striations from the heat. (2) Another observation from the trip that supports the
Acadian Orogeny is the Lamprophyre dikes that cut across the Meta Greywacke and are found in both
sides of the Potomac River. The Lamprophyre dikes are younger than the Meta Greywacke since they
cut across them and since the dikes are made of basalt they can be dated back about 360 million years
ago thus linking them to the Acadian Orogeny. Also the dikes weather out faster than the rock around
them. (3)
After the Acadian Orogeny the continent of North America collided with Africa which was at the time
of Pangea. Then the continents separated and opened up a new ocean called the Atlantic Ocean but
there was no evidence found in the region to prove this geological event so the time missing is called
an unconformity. During this time the region was just experiencing weathering

Amyloid Β Precursor Protein Analysis
Amyloid β Precursor Protein (APP) is a gene that provides instructions for making a protein called
amyloid precursor protein (Andrew, 2009). Amyloid precursor protein is found in several tissues and
organs including the brain and the spinal cord in other words the central nervous system (Andrew,
2009). Some studies suggest that in the brain, APP help direct movement of nerve cells during early
development. For instance, APP may be involved in the regulation of synaptogenesis which is the
formation of synapses between neurons in the nervous system (Dawkins, 2014).
Additionally, APP is cut by enzymes that create smaller fragments that are often released outside the
cell. Some fragments that help play a role in AD are soluble amyloid precursor

Exposing the Plight of the Mapuche
Sharing what you know, that s how we make peace. These are the words of Maria Teresa, a Mapuche
woman from the Nalche region in Chile. The words are deceptively positive in the light of the
situation faced by the people Maria Teresa represents. They face a frightening loop of poverty
controlled by government and business forces. It is a chain that appears unbreakable from an external
perspective. Indeed, the community faces challenges on a number of divergent scales, including the
political and social arenas. The needs of the Mapuche communities in this region are not met by any
political arena representative, whether on the municipal, regional, municipal, or state scale. In addition
to political marginalization and exclusion, the Mapuche also faces social issues that relate to the
poverty created by their lack of arable land and potable water. In terms of the social aspect, the
Mapuche lack central organization and concomitantly suffer from internal division. Some are fighting
for land, while others focus on politics, with others focusing more strongly on the importance of
maintaining cultural identity. There is therefore no singular common cause, which makes it difficult to
obtain external support that might lend some fortification to the struggle in the eyes of leaders and
politicians (G. Remain, personal communication April, 2012). The research has found that the current
situation faced by the Mapuche has deep running historical roots. By means of systematic

The ultimate goal of ethical theory is to achieve human dignity, peace, happiness, and well being. But
these goals are somewhat vague and can be interpreted differently in different situations under certain
circumstances. So to make the things less complex, we try to define a sphere of freedom in which
people can act and make decisions freely without interference from others. So natural rights defines
ethical theory as a set of actions that respects fundamental rights of others, including the rights to life,
liberty, and property. Natural rights can be categorized in two different

History Of The Hubble Space Telescope
The Hubble Space Telescope is considered by some to be one of N.A.S.A. s greatest achievements,
and in its early years N.A.S.A. s greatest and most expensive failures but it is widely regarded as a
great telescope that takes beautiful stunning photos
During Hubble s building many things went wrong and right. In 1923 A German Scientist named
Hermann Oberth conceived the idea to put a telescope into orbit, Lyman Spitzer worked tirelessly to
bring this idea to fruition. In 1968 N.A.S.A. announced a plan to build The Large Space Telescope
(LST) with a launch planned for 1979. LST Was built at Marshall Space Flight Center, Goddard Space
Flight Center, and Lockheed Martin with help from The European Space Agency because N.A.S.A.

The Expanding Field of Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research is one of the most widely expanding areas of scientific research being conducted all
over the world today. In basic terms, stem cell research is the research of stem cells; however in
actuality is much more complicated. A stem cell is a cell with the ability to develop into any of the cell
types that make up the tissues and organs of the body. This makes these cells highly useful and
provides limitless potential in the field of regenerative medicine.
There are two expansive lines of stem cell research, which involve multipotent stem cells and
pluripotent stem cells. Multipotent stem cells are stem cells which can only specialise into cells of the
same type of tissue, for example muscle stem cells can only become specialised muscle cells. This
type of stem cell are known as adult stem cells and are found in the brain, blood, muscles, skin, bone
marrow and other fully developed parts of the body. On the other hand, pluripotent stem cells can
differentiate and specialise into any cell of the body. These are embryonic stem cells which are found
in embryo s that are five to seven days old, and umbilical cords. In 2006, Shinya Yamanaka, a scientist
in Japan discovered that stem cells could also be generated from mature, fully specialised cells. These
stem cells are known as induced pluripotent stem cells, and are reprogrammed so that they can mimic
embryonic stem cells and become every type of cell.
There is much difficulty in the research of adult stem cells,

Juvenile Homicide Can Be Prevented Essay
Introduction For every 12 homicides committed in the United States 1 of them involves a juvenile
offender (Howard N. Snyder, Juvenile Offenders and Victims, 2006). Although most American don t
realize it, juvenile homicide is a problem in the United States that needs to be fixed. Even though
statistics show that the homicide rate done by juveniles is at its lowest rate since the early 1980 s it is
still a problem. Juvenile homicide has lowered in the recent years, but the fact that it still happens is
chilling to most Americans. Most Americans believe that juveniles who show early signs of deviant
acts are not a big deal, however if we try and help those juveniles, we can possibly stop them from
committing homicidal acts when they get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the recent years many criminologists have used three different demographics used to describe
juvenile homicide offenders. Those are: juvenile gang members, between 15 17 years in age, and
mostly males (Directorate, 2002).
They are often gang members; when gangs recruit members to join their gang they will often target
the young, because they can mold them to believe that the gang is the main thing in their life. If they
get in the gang they are more likely to begin to carry guns, and deal drugs compared to juveniles who
are not gang members. In data gathered from interviews of arrested juveniles in the Drug Use
Forecasting (DUF) study, The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention states that
juvenile gang members are reasonably more likely to carry a gun on a day to day basis compared to
the juveniles which are not involved in gangs (31% percent compared to 20%) (James C. Howell,
1999). With saying that, James C. Howell, and Scott R. Decker found that the juvenile homicide
problem in St. Louis was mainly largely a gun homicide problem (James C. Howell, 1999).
The average age of a juvenile homicide offender is in their upper teens. According to The Office of
Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention from 2006 and 2008, 90% of the juvenile homicide
offenders were 15 17 years old, compared to only 10% were 6 14 years old. High School

Literary Devices In The Charge Of The Light Brigade
In times of war, soldiers must surpass obstacles and be ready to face challenges. Witnessing the valiant
efforts of these men who throw their lives on the line instills an insurmountable sense of pride in the
hearts of spectators. Both Lord Alfred Tennyson s poem and Richard Caton Woodville Jr. s illustration
entitled The Charge of the Light Brigade incorporate literary terms to express their feeling of pride
towards the Light Brigade. Tennyson exhibits this by using repetition to signify the danger of fighting
in battle, in addition to using imagery to help the reader imagine how terrifying war is while setting a
respectful tone. Woodville shows pride through the dangerous setting, through the symbolism
signifying the danger of fighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the artist uses setting. His addition of depressions in the ground and use of color scheme
are examples of this. He deliberately uses the depressions to indicate how dangerous the environment
is, and is proud that even though the men saw cannons being fired and bullets shooting at them, they
still go through with their job. They understand that it is their duty to fight for their country no matter
what obstacles they may face. The warm colors of the backdrop add onto this feeling because it
indicates the artist is content with how the men were willing to put themselves forward. Symbolism is
another literary term used by Woodville. For instance, this is shown when the men on horses hold up
their sabres. The fact that the soldiers are pointing them towards their enemies show how they are not
afraid, aware that they do not stand a chance against the other sides artillery. The artist s feeling is
revealed here because although they know that they will be defeated, the men hold their weapons up
high, continuing to charge and fight to the best of their abilities. They are courageous and ready to
endure the pain. The most important literary device Woodville s uses to convey his feeling of pride is
imagery. The poet shows this through the charging motion of the men on their horses. The soldiers
lean forward and hold their weapons high riding towards their opponents their courage. Instead

Summary Of The Poem Let Evening Come
When I first read this poem, I was taking into a place of uncertainty but yet, a place of being relaxed
and calm. This poem was hard in trying to really understand the literal meaning in order to dive in to
find a deeper meaning.
Let Evening Come by Jane Kenyon was a very interesting poem. It was very short, but had a lot of
detailed sentences. Another interesting element of the poem was the repetitive use of the title phrase
let evening come throughout the poem. My idea of this poem is that the literal meaning of this poem is
someone being trapped. As the poem goes on, every stanza starts with the word let. This shows me
that whoever the speaker is speaking to, that they have no power and they just have to let the actions
that follow in the poem just happen to them. Another question I have on this is who is the speaker? Is
the speaker trapped in his own mind and trying to cope with himself? It kind of seems this way in how
the speaker justifies himself by saying let evening come after he says Let the fox go back to its sandy
den. Let the wind die down. Let the shed go black inside (1251). My thought of him saying this line is
that he is stating, no matter what is going on in the world, that nothing is perfect and evening will
come no matter what happens during the day. Also, that there s things that are out of one s control and
people just have to let those uncontrollable things happen. Only focus on the actions that you can
control and if you do that, good things will happen. I think that deep down, the speaker is talking to
himself and trying to convince himself that focusing on actions that they can control and blocking out
everything else, that something good will come. Another question I had was what is the significance
of the ending sentence and the author mentioning God in it. (Last sentence) God does not leave us
comfortless, so let evening come ?
Adding God into this this puts a religious spin on it that could mean something deep down. I really
liked this poem because there s so many questions at first about the meaning that I had to really think
about my interpretation.
Part II: Reaction after Class Discussion After class discussion, this poem made more sense to me in
the fact that I got

Loss is inevitable, there is a time in everyone s life that this pain will be felt, yet dealing with it shows
the true character of the person. The book of Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters displays
the true meaning of that statement. The characters throughout explain the many struggles faced in their

Economic Stratfication And Economic Stratification
In class we had a discussion on social stratification, economic specialization and its rules with in
Mesopotamia, Egypt and Harappa. So, today I hope that elaborate on what economic specialization
and social stratification is and how it pertains to Mesopotamia, Egypt and Harappa. First, we will look
at the definition of both terms because I believe if you do not have a definition you may not know
what I am talking about and also you know exactly what you are looking for. Second, I will start off
with how social stratification in economic specialization relates to Mesopotamian. After that, I will
move on to Egypt and talk about how the terms relate. Finally, I will discuss the rapper and maybe
even show how unique they are in comparison to the other. Hopefully, with evidence from the book I
can paint a vivid picture, so that we are on the same wavelength, which would mean it is explained
well.
First, social stratification is a system in which a society ranks categories of people and a hierarchy. To
be honest, if I was going to put it in simplest terms for the cooler individuals in the crowd it is the way
a society groups People based off their social class, and does not have to pretend the money.
Economic specialization is when a nation or individual concentrates its productive efforts are
producing a limited variety of good. Sometimes the nation has to produce other goods and rely on
trade. Therefore, this is basically asking how to decide to get the things they need,

Santiago is also referred to as a butterfly, a very fragile creature, with no will or say in what happens
to it. This insinuates that even if he was to try, Santiago Nasar would never be able to free himself
from the fate Angela s words set for him. This goes directly against the social norms of the time, in
which Santiago, the wealthy man, should be able to control Angela, the poor woman. Angela s
statement that it was Santiago who took her virginity also exercises a certain control over her brothers.
In the trial, Pablo and Pedro declared that they would have done it again a thousand times over for the
same reason (Márquez 48). Even though they did have their own free will in committing the murders,
Pablo and Pedro did not question their decision to murder Santiago in defense of Angela s honor. By
making the accusation, Angela is controlling her brothers as well, as it is clear that they will end up
doing something to protect their sister s purity. Whether Angela intentionally wanted Santiago to end
up dead or not, it is still clear that at this point in the novel, she is exercising a control over Santiago,
Pablo, and

Comparing Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher and Taylor’s...
Edgar Allan Poe s The Fall of the House of Usher and Peter Taylor s Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time
Various authors develop their stories using gothic themes and characterizations of this type to lay the
foundation for their desired reader response. Although Edgar Allan Poe s The Fall of the House of
Usher and Peter Taylor s Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time are two completely different narratives, both
of these stories share a commonality of gothic text representations. The stories take slightly different
paths, with Poe s signifying traditional gothic literature and Taylor approaching his story in a more
contemporary manner. Gothic texts are typically characterized by a horrifying and haunting mood, in a

Just as in Poe s, this story places significance upon the appearance of the house and its surroundings.
The Dorsets host parties for each generation of children in their neighborhood. Enhancing further the
evidence of gothic style found in Taylor s story, the parents curiosity is overcome by a feeling of
horror concerning the types of events that unfold during those parties. The parties also act as points of
isolation for the children and the Dorsets. Except for the people who attend the party, no one knew the
explanation or the necessity for the annual event. The presence of curiosity and secrecy help to
support the gothic basis for this story. The grotesque and incestuous relationship that the Dorsets
sustain functions as another gothic element in the text. One of the definite obscurities in the Dorsets
house would be the hanging of various pictures, specifically Bronzino s Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time
. It is a tiny color print and described as simply being tacked on the wall, and obviously been torn
from a book or magazine (Taylor, 765). The picture could be interpreted as a family interacting and
behaving immorally, further enhancing the notion that the Dorsets do not just have a sibling
relationship but rather a more intimate connection. This print acted as a focal point of the house and
further detailed the Dorsets incestuous relationship. In the end, the Dorsets are overcome by their

Famingham Downtown Renaissance Analysis
Framingham Downtown Renaissance Analysis and Questions
Analysis
Framingham Downtown Renaissance s main objective is to connect the small businesses of downtown
Framingham and make it an energetic area in order to promote community and economic stimulus. As
a non profit it is doing a great job of marketing itself as well as building a network (its own website) to
promote downtown Framingham mom and pop stores. It is going to be involved with a program to
disperse grant money for helping women, minorities, veterans, immigrants and people with disabilities
start or expand their businesses. In addition to the money the program may be teaching potential/
current entrepreneurs more on how to run a business. Unfortunately the article wasn t explicit on what
exactly FDR brought to the table. But it was the first in the list of groups that are affiliated with the
project. Therefore it s safe to say that Framingham Downtown Renaissance is an important
contributor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The On The Marginal Productivity Theory
Stiglitz paints a very dark and hated picture of the top 1 percent or wealthy elite right off the bat.
Stiglitz is clearly against the 1 percent in almost every way. The 1 percent is stingy, useless, and does
nothing to provide benefits for the middle class or any body outside of the 1 percent. The deeper into
the article I found myself, the more questions came to mind. Are these facts or opinions? Does the
authors argument hold any statistical value? The more I questioned the more specific my research
became. The research developed into reasons how the marginal productivity theory is in fact a vital
part in the 1 percents role in the economy. That piece of information led to two other important pieces
of evidence. How much did the 1 percent actually contribute to society? How many job and
educational opportunities came from the wealthy elite? The research and statistics go on to speak for
themselves by stating how exactly the top 1 percent contribute to society specifically outside of their
income class and how many economic opportunities are provided from just the 1 percent alone. Of the
1%, By the 1%, For the 1% suggests that a large portion of the total income is being overrun by the 1
percent or the extremely wealthy. It states that the top 1 percent control over 40 percent of the nations
income. The author even brings on this shocking statistic Twenty five years ago, the corresponding
figures were 12 percent and 33 percent. (Stiglitz 79). This all sounds very nice

The Interpretation Of Tempo, Dynamics And Expression...
The interpretation of Tempo, Dynamics and Expression through Instrumentation in three recordings of
Vittorio Monti s Czardas
Vittorio Monti s famous virtuosic piece Czardas has been arranged for many instruments over the
years. Being a percussionist and having played this piece I was interested in how this piece would
vary in terms of tempo, dynamics and expression due to instrumentation. I chose to compare three
recordings: one by violinist Frank Kim accompanied by piano as this represents the piece as it was
originally written for piano and violin. Frank Kim performs it with a lot of expression and extremes of
dynamic and tempo more typical of the romantic period; The Horseholm Percussion and Marimba
Ensemble which used similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Italian composer Vittorio Monti was born in 1868 in Naples. He attended the Conservatoire of
San Pietro a Majella where he studied composition and violin, as well as playing mandolin. When he
was in his thirty s he was asked to conduct in Paris for the Lamourex Orchestra, during this period
Monti composed a number of operas and ballets such as Noel de Pierrot. In 1904 he wrote what is
probably his most famous piece, Czardas, which he based on the Hungarian folk dance called Csardas.
Although originally composed for solo violin and piano there have been many arrangements for
numerous instruments over the years. Czardas or Hungarian Czardas is a national dance of Hungary
for couples; it is written in simple time and involves forceful syncopated rhythms. The dance starts off
with a slow section called the Lassu and is followed by a fast section called the Friss.
Monti begins his piece at a slow, broad speed marked largo this represents the lassu from the dance. In
the violin (Monti, 2015) recording the notes are very legato and there is a lot of vibrato to add extra
expression, colour and phrasing to the music. In Cambridge Companion to the violin it states that
vibrato was used...as an expressive ornament (Stowell, 1992) and used mainly for long notes at the
end of a phrase. Spohr states that there are three types of vibrato: slow for sustained passionate
melodies; accelerating for

The Influence Of Humanism
Have you ever wondered why nowadays there are less less people going to church or even supporting
God? 500 years ago new ideas started to spread throughout europe, ideas that man doesn t need God.
This idea is called Humanism. In Humanism humans are more important than god. Humanist solve
problem in human ways instead of resourcing to a god. During the renaissance Humanism develop
and spread throughout europe. Some of the most known artist, writers, and even religious figures
influence humanism of the renaissance. Even though today you don t hear the word humanism a lot it
s still a major influence in today s society. So why did humanistic ideas become so popular? One of
the main reason is the renaissance. Humanism develop so much during the Renaissance because a lot
of influential people believed and even spread humanism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Allentown museum stated the following about the Vitruvian Man; Man is the measure of all
things (Kintzer and Wetterlund). Since Humanism is about appreciating humans this clearly shows
humanism, what greater honor can you get than being in the middle of everything. Everything has a
size this shows how man instead of god is connected to everything physical in this world. Likewise
Tom Ashbrook, an award winning journalist, wrote this about the Vitruvian Man, symbol of man in
the universe, man as the universe (Tom Ashbrook). This is an obvious example of humanism since it
shows how man can be free of god, can be in the universe with only himself and other humans, and
even be the universe ourselves. Da Vinci s view on humanism was clearly implemented on his
paintings, not only this but they undoubtedly spread throughout Europe and later on the world, which
explains to us why most of us have already since this

The Role Of Aggression In Hitchcock s Vertigo
Recently, an incredible amount of attention has been drawn to female survivors of intimate abuse. It
appears though little attention has been paid to why so many women have been assaulted. With this in
mind, I choose to take a closer look at how gendered violence functions in literature and in film.
Furthermore, I wish to discuss how insecurity instigates aggression from male lead characters in
Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo and Leo Tolstoy s The Kreutzer Sonata as a lens for understanding the
figurative sexual trauma that female lead characters experience in these works. In an attempt to better
understand the relationship between men s physical pleasure and women s physical pain, I asked a
main research question: How does aggression function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following Scottie strictly selecting a suit for Judy, he singles out hair styles and makeup for Judy at a
salon. What shade of blonde Judy wants on her hair and what amount of makeup Judy wants on her
face, are ignored possibly not even asked for in this scene. In addition, the salon operator assures
Scottie about his desires being fulfilled by saying, Yes, sir. We know what you want. (Hitchcock
1:50:00 1:52:33) Scottie s authority is emphasized as greater that that of Judy s through her agency
being unknown throughout this scene. His power is further highlighted when Judy returns from the
salon to her apartment. Though Judy is mostly transformed as Scottie desires, he is not satisfied. The
styling of Judy s hair does not match the styling Scottie wants to see; so, Scottie abruptly takes Judy s
hair into his hands and arranges it as her wants showcasing no consent or concern for Judy s desires
(Hitchcock 1:54:00 1:56:00). Scottie is oblivious to Judy s frightened and angered response to him
arranging her hair. He, instead, is focused on perfecting the Judy before him to the Judy in his mind
ignoring her agency again through patriarchal domination (Fabe 363). Similar to when in the
department store, Scottie is navigating his insecurities while transforming Judy, as Marilyn Fabe
argues in Mourning Vertigo ; but, the policing in these scenes is intensified through Scottie taking the
transformation into his own hands. This investment in Judy s actions and image continues to increase

How Do We Relate In Of Mice And Men
And will there be rabbits, George? Yeah, Lennie. There ll be rabbits.
There is a certain curse attached to the most familiar lines in literature. Because we know them so
well, we tend to smile when we encounter them, and they can break the reality of the story they re
trying to tell. What stage Hamlet has not despaired of getting through To be, or not to be? in one
piece?
In John Steinbeck s novel Of Mice and Men, made into an enduringly popular movie, the lines about
the rabbits have became emblems for the whole relationship between George and Lennie the quiet
spoken farm laborer and the sweet, retarded cousin he has taken under his arm. I would not have
thought I could believe the line about the rabbits one more time, but this movie made me do it, as
Lennie asks about the farm they ll own one day, and George says, yes, it will be just as they ve
imagined it.
Lennie is played by John Malkovich and George is Gary Sinise, who also directed this film, using an
adaptation by Horton Foote. The most sincere compliment I can pay them is to say that all of them
writer and actors have taken every unnecessary gesture, every possible gratuitous note, out of these
characters. The story is as pure and lean as the original fable which ... Show more content on

reckless. They can t find the balance, and get into a lot of trouble. The buried theme is similar to the
one in Of Mice and Men : Two men together form a workable partnership, but neither is complete
separately. You can sense how important this material is to Sinise. So important that in this movie he
doesn t fool around with it; the story itself says all he wants to

The Nature Of The Employment
Nature of the Employment
By nature employment is classified into part time and full time. The study of the nature of
employment helps in assessing the magnitude of workforce fully reliant on earning from the IMS.
This is discussed with Table 1 given below. More than 80% of workers are found to be engaged as full
time workers (FTW) at the national level. However a trend of sinking part of FTW is observed with a
increasing share of the part time workers (PTW). Dominance of male employment over the female
employment is observed both for the category of PTW as well as the FTW. Gender wise distribution
of employment shows that the share of both the full time male workers (FTMW) and full time female
workers (FTFW) have decreased in 1994 95 and then continuously increased in 2005 06. Part time
male workers (PTMW) shows declining share over the entire period, whereas the part time female
workers (PTFW) shows an increasing share during the same period. A discussion on the growth of
employment by nature and gender revealed the fact that growth rate of the FTW as well as PTW was
higher during early reform period as compared to the later reform period, at the national level. The
FTW suffered a negative growth during the later period, which causes the overall growth of the FTW
to be lower. The growth of the PTW at all India level is higher. The category of PTW, PTFW is
growing at a slower rate, but is higher than the growth rate of PTMW at the

Emotional Intelligence and Athletic Performance
According to Salovey and Mayer (1990), understanding emotions involves comprehension of how
basic emotions are blended to form complex emotions, how emotions are affected by events
surrounding experiences, and whether various emotional reactions are likely in given social settings.
Regulating emotions encompasses the control of emotions in oneself and in others. An individual s
emotional intelligence is an indication of how he or she perceives, understands, and regulates
emotions. In sum, emotional intelligence is a form of intelligence that involves the ability to monitor
one s own and others feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information
to guide one s thinking and actions (Salovery and Mayer, 1990, ... Show more content on

Research has pointed out the importance for us to develop a clear perspective on the theoretical
development of EQ. Moreover, how this theory may or may not overlap with traditional forms of
intelligence and with psychological skills and strategies as they relate to athletic performance.
In the Lane et al. (2010) study, the researchers have explored the findings of how emotional
intelligence is related to emotions experienced before successful and unsuccessful performances and
how certain emotions are correlated with successful performances and poor performances. Previous
research has shown that emotional intelligence is correlated positively with pleasant emotions and
negatively with unpleasant emotions. Further, Lane et al. (2009c) found emotional intelligence scores
correlated with frequent use of psychological skills. Athletes reporting frequent use of psychological
skills (Thomas et al., 1999) also appear to report high scores on the self report emotional intelligence
scales.
B. Comparison of the purposes posed by the studies
The purpose of the Zizzi et al. (2003) study was to find a relationship between emotional intelligence
and athletic performance in a sample of Division I baseball players. This study explored the
relationships between emotional intelligence and the global measures of baseball performance in a
sample of college baseball players. More specifically, a

  • 2. My Argumentative Essay On Lobbying Every essay assignment changed my perspective on something or strengthened the knowledge I already had but, with the Argumentative Essay I felt more engaged than ever with my assignment. The ability to choose my topic already made me feel more in control, but i still had to critically think. When I was determining what topic I felt more inclined to write about I was confused on which to choose not because of lack of options but because my dilemma was that I had too much. In order to truly pick I not only decided on what I was very passionate about, but also on a topic that I knew was uncommon and could educate more than reiterate .I thought of Lobbying which I once wrote a speech about and had a clear interest in. I had a lot of conversations with friends and family about lobbying and came to the realization that it was not only important to me, but to everyone I knew whether they knew about it or not it had a significant importance in their life. The process was interesting because I didn t lack information, but I had a lot since it was something that I had read upon for a long time so my struggle became the organization. I also had to make it clear and concise because I found it was easy to become stray from your main thesis when you have a lot of information on the general topic. My views didn t necessarily change yet the ideas and notions I had on Lobbying were strengthened by the research I got and how I tried to deliver my argument. I felt that my essay did justice to the thesis and my message was conveyed clearly. It was satisfying to have the counter arguments refuted because I felt as though my message gained more value and credibility. The best way to explain the process is by using a metaphor , I felt like a lawyer who was prepared to win for their client, except in my case the client was my thesis and I was my own lawyer. My point was supported, but I also wanted those which had counter ideas to feel that my argumentative essay did them justice by trying to analyze their point of view thoroughly. When mentioning the counter argument on how lobbying should be regulated I found validity in some of their arguments, seen by. There is no doubt that free speech should be protected and lobbying can fall under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Comparison of Flood Stories Comparison of Flood Stories There have been numerous flood stories identified from ancient sources throughout the world. The Bible and the Koran both have flood stories that are similar but also share differences. The Epic of Gilgamesh also has a flood myth that is contrary to other flood accounts. Even though these stories are all dissimilar they all start because of the faults of man. The notion of the flood comes from a varied source in each story. In the Koran it was Noah who asked God to flood the Earth because of man s sins while in the Bible, God called down upon Noah and told him of the plan to flood the Earth and destroy all that was upon it because of man s wickedness. In Gilgamesh the flood comes to Utnapishtim in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bible states that Noah took only his family members and two of each animal. In the Epic of Gilgamesh it is said that Utnapishtim took not only family members but others as well including craftsmen and a pilot for the boat. Utnapishtim also took some of every species of animal with him because he was told to do so in his dream. The source of the waters and the duration of the excursions were not the same. The Bible states that it rained for forty days and forty nights with the water coming from heavy rain and ground water. It also says that after Noah landed on a mountain it took a long time for the Earth to dry up. During this time Noah sent out a raven and three doves until the last of the three doves did not return and then he knew the land was dry. In Gilgamesh the rain only lasted for six days and six nights and after stopping on the mountain the land did not take as long to dry up. Utnapishtim also sent out birds to see if the water was still standing but he sent out a dove, a swallow, and a raven. When the raven did not return Utnapishtim knew the Earth was clean. Both Noah and Utnapishtim made sacrifices at the end of the flood and both were blessed but in different ways. Noah was told his family was blessed and to go out and multiply while Utnapishtim was made a god and given eternal life. It is believed that the flood story in the Bible occurred first although it was recorded at a later time by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Billy Goat Trail Essay Billy Goat Trail The Billy Goat trail currently located in Maryland and is part of the Great Falls. After getting familiar with the Billy Goat Trail you can see all the evidence that a great geological phenomenon has occurred at that location. This location went through several geographical changes that I will be mentioning along with some of the evidence from the Billy Goat Trail. The Billy Goat Trail actually started at the bottom of the Iaptus Ocean more than 460 million years ago. At the bottom of the ocean the sand was being deposited on top of the mud making some graded bedding that was caused by turbidity currents. The rock that was being formed from graded bedding on the bottom of the ocean floor was the sedimentary rock called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Acadian Orogeny not only started the mountain building in the region but also brought volcanic activity along and this meant that the rocks in the region now where under a great amount of pressure and extreme amount of heat. Some of the evidence that I observed at the Billy Goat Trail from the Acadian Orogeny was the Gneiss rocks that where hidden underneath the large boulders where we stopped for lunch. The rock Gneiss requires high pressure and high heat because the rock has U shaped banding due to the pressure and black and white striations from the heat. (2) Another observation from the trip that supports the Acadian Orogeny is the Lamprophyre dikes that cut across the Meta Greywacke and are found in both sides of the Potomac River. The Lamprophyre dikes are younger than the Meta Greywacke since they cut across them and since the dikes are made of basalt they can be dated back about 360 million years ago thus linking them to the Acadian Orogeny. Also the dikes weather out faster than the rock around them. (3) After the Acadian Orogeny the continent of North America collided with Africa which was at the time of Pangea. Then the continents separated and opened up a new ocean called the Atlantic Ocean but there was no evidence found in the region to prove this geological event so the time missing is called an unconformity. During this time the region was just experiencing weathering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Amyloid Β Precursor Protein Analysis Amyloid β Precursor Protein (APP) is a gene that provides instructions for making a protein called amyloid precursor protein (Andrew, 2009). Amyloid precursor protein is found in several tissues and organs including the brain and the spinal cord in other words the central nervous system (Andrew, 2009). Some studies suggest that in the brain, APP help direct movement of nerve cells during early development. For instance, APP may be involved in the regulation of synaptogenesis which is the formation of synapses between neurons in the nervous system (Dawkins, 2014). Additionally, APP is cut by enzymes that create smaller fragments that are often released outside the cell. Some fragments that help play a role in AD are soluble amyloid precursor ... • 7. Exposing the Plight of the Mapuche Sharing what you know, that s how we make peace. These are the words of Maria Teresa, a Mapuche woman from the Nalche region in Chile. The words are deceptively positive in the light of the situation faced by the people Maria Teresa represents. They face a frightening loop of poverty controlled by government and business forces. It is a chain that appears unbreakable from an external perspective. Indeed, the community faces challenges on a number of divergent scales, including the political and social arenas. The needs of the Mapuche communities in this region are not met by any political arena representative, whether on the municipal, regional, municipal, or state scale. In addition to political marginalization and exclusion, the Mapuche also faces social issues that relate to the poverty created by their lack of arable land and potable water. In terms of the social aspect, the Mapuche lack central organization and concomitantly suffer from internal division. Some are fighting for land, while others focus on politics, with others focusing more strongly on the importance of maintaining cultural identity. There is therefore no singular common cause, which makes it difficult to obtain external support that might lend some fortification to the struggle in the eyes of leaders and politicians (G. Remain, personal communication April, 2012). The research has found that the current situation faced by the Mapuche has deep running historical roots. By means of systematic ... • 10. The Expanding Field of Stem Cell Research Stem cell research is one of the most widely expanding areas of scientific research being conducted all over the world today. In basic terms, stem cell research is the research of stem cells; however in actuality is much more complicated. A stem cell is a cell with the ability to develop into any of the cell types that make up the tissues and organs of the body. This makes these cells highly useful and provides limitless potential in the field of regenerative medicine. There are two expansive lines of stem cell research, which involve multipotent stem cells and pluripotent stem cells. Multipotent stem cells are stem cells which can only specialise into cells of the same type of tissue, for example muscle stem cells can only become specialised muscle cells. This type of stem cell are known as adult stem cells and are found in the brain, blood, muscles, skin, bone marrow and other fully developed parts of the body. On the other hand, pluripotent stem cells can differentiate and specialise into any cell of the body. These are embryonic stem cells which are found in embryo s that are five to seven days old, and umbilical cords. In 2006, Shinya Yamanaka, a scientist in Japan discovered that stem cells could also be generated from mature, fully specialised cells. These stem cells are known as induced pluripotent stem cells, and are reprogrammed so that they can mimic embryonic stem cells and become every type of cell. There is much difficulty in the research of adult stem cells, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Juvenile Homicide Can Be Prevented Essay Introduction For every 12 homicides committed in the United States 1 of them involves a juvenile offender (Howard N. Snyder, Juvenile Offenders and Victims, 2006). Although most American don t realize it, juvenile homicide is a problem in the United States that needs to be fixed. Even though statistics show that the homicide rate done by juveniles is at its lowest rate since the early 1980 s it is still a problem. Juvenile homicide has lowered in the recent years, but the fact that it still happens is chilling to most Americans. Most Americans believe that juveniles who show early signs of deviant acts are not a big deal, however if we try and help those juveniles, we can possibly stop them from committing homicidal acts when they get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the recent years many criminologists have used three different demographics used to describe juvenile homicide offenders. Those are: juvenile gang members, between 15 17 years in age, and mostly males (Directorate, 2002). They are often gang members; when gangs recruit members to join their gang they will often target the young, because they can mold them to believe that the gang is the main thing in their life. If they get in the gang they are more likely to begin to carry guns, and deal drugs compared to juveniles who are not gang members. In data gathered from interviews of arrested juveniles in the Drug Use Forecasting (DUF) study, The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention states that juvenile gang members are reasonably more likely to carry a gun on a day to day basis compared to the juveniles which are not involved in gangs (31% percent compared to 20%) (James C. Howell, 1999). With saying that, James C. Howell, and Scott R. Decker found that the juvenile homicide problem in St. Louis was mainly largely a gun homicide problem (James C. Howell, 1999). The average age of a juvenile homicide offender is in their upper teens. According to The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention from 2006 and 2008, 90% of the juvenile homicide offenders were 15 17 years old, compared to only 10% were 6 14 years old. Witnessing the valiant efforts of these men who throw their lives on the line instills an insurmountable sense of pride in the hearts of spectators. Both Lord Alfred Tennyson s poem and Richard Caton Woodville Jr. s illustration entitled The Charge of the Light Brigade incorporate literary terms to express their feeling of pride towards the Light Brigade. Tennyson exhibits this by using repetition to signify the danger of fighting in battle, in addition to using imagery to help the reader imagine how terrifying war is while setting a respectful tone. Woodville shows pride through the dangerous setting, through the symbolism signifying the danger of fighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the artist uses setting. His addition of depressions in the ground and use of color scheme are examples of this. He deliberately uses the depressions to indicate how dangerous the environment is, and is proud that even though the men saw cannons being fired and bullets shooting at them, they still go through with their job. They understand that it is their duty to fight for their country no matter what obstacles they may face. The warm colors of the backdrop add onto this feeling because it indicates the artist is content with how the men were willing to put themselves forward. Symbolism is another literary term used by Woodville. For instance, this is shown when the men on horses hold up their sabres. The fact that the soldiers are pointing them towards their enemies show how they are not afraid, aware that they do not stand a chance against the other sides artillery. The artist s feeling is revealed here because although they know that they will be defeated, the men hold their weapons up high, continuing to charge and fight to the best of their abilities. They are courageous and ready to endure the pain. The most important literary device Woodville s uses to convey his feeling of pride is imagery. The poet shows this through the charging motion of the men on their horses. The soldiers lean forward and hold their weapons high riding towards their opponents their courage. Instead ... • 14. Summary Of The Poem Let Evening Come When I first read this poem, I was taking into a place of uncertainty but yet, a place of being relaxed and calm. This poem was hard in trying to really understand the literal meaning in order to dive in to find a deeper meaning. Let Evening Come by Jane Kenyon was a very interesting poem. It was very short, but had a lot of detailed sentences. Another interesting element of the poem was the repetitive use of the title phrase let evening come throughout the poem. My idea of this poem is that the literal meaning of this poem is someone being trapped. As the poem goes on, every stanza starts with the word let. This shows me that whoever the speaker is speaking to, that they have no power and they just have to let the actions that follow in the poem just happen to them. Another question I have on this is who is the speaker? Is the speaker trapped in his own mind and trying to cope with himself? It kind of seems this way in how the speaker justifies himself by saying let evening come after he says Let the fox go back to its sandy den. Let the wind die down. Let the shed go black inside (1251). My thought of him saying this line is that he is stating, no matter what is going on in the world, that nothing is perfect and evening will come no matter what happens during the day. Also, that there s things that are out of one s control and people just have to let those uncontrollable things happen. Only focus on the actions that you can control and if you do that, good things will happen. I think that deep down, the speaker is talking to himself and trying to convince himself that focusing on actions that they can control and blocking out everything else, that something good will come. Another question I had was what is the significance of the ending sentence and the author mentioning God in it. (Last sentence) God does not leave us comfortless, so let evening come ? Adding God into this this puts a religious spin on it that could mean something deep down. I really liked this poem because there s so many questions at first about the meaning that I had to really think about my interpretation. So, today I hope that elaborate on what economic specialization and social stratification is and how it pertains to Mesopotamia, Egypt and Harappa. First, we will look at the definition of both terms because I believe if you do not have a definition you may not know what I am talking about and also you know exactly what you are looking for. Second, I will start off with how social stratification in economic specialization relates to Mesopotamian. After that, I will move on to Egypt and talk about how the terms relate. Finally, I will discuss the rapper and maybe even show how unique they are in comparison to the other. Hopefully, with evidence from the book I can paint a vivid picture, so that we are on the same wavelength, which would mean it is explained well. First, social stratification is a system in which a society ranks categories of people and a hierarchy. To be honest, if I was going to put it in simplest terms for the cooler individuals in the crowd it is the way a society groups People based off their social class, and does not have to pretend the money. Economic specialization is when a nation or individual concentrates its productive efforts are producing a limited variety of good. Sometimes the nation has to produce other goods and rely on trade. • 20. Angela Vicario Essay Márquez uses the character of Angela Vicario to show the power women can possess over the men in their lives. Angela Vicario is arguably the most powerful character in the novel, as she is the one who tells her brothers that it was Santiago who took her virginity, which consequently sets the entire plot of the story in motion. After Angela is returned by Bayardo San Román to her family due to the fact that she is not a virgin, when her brothers ask who it was who took her virginity, Angela nailed [Santiago s name] to the wall with her well aimed dart, like a butterfly with no will whose sentence has always been written (Márquez 47). Santiago is also referred to as a butterfly, a very fragile creature, with no will or say in what happens to it. This insinuates that even if he was to try, Santiago Nasar would never be able to free himself from the fate Angela s words set for him. This goes directly against the social norms of the time, in which Santiago, the wealthy man, should be able to control Angela, the poor woman. Angela s statement that it was Santiago who took her virginity also exercises a certain control over her brothers. In the trial, Pablo and Pedro declared that they would have done it again a thousand times over for the same reason (Márquez 48). Even though they did have their own free will in committing the murders, Pablo and Pedro did not question their decision to murder Santiago in defense of Angela s honor. By making the accusation, Angela is controlling her brothers as well, as it is clear that they will end up doing something to protect their sister s purity. Whether Angela intentionally wanted Santiago to end up dead or not, it is still clear that at this point in the novel, she is exercising a control over Santiago, Pablo, and ... Edgar Allan Poe s The Fall of the House of Usher and Peter Taylor s Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time Various authors develop their stories using gothic themes and characterizations of this type to lay the foundation for their desired reader response. Although Edgar Allan Poe s The Fall of the House of Usher and Peter Taylor s Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time are two completely different narratives, both of these stories share a commonality of gothic text representations. The stories take slightly different paths, with Poe s signifying traditional gothic literature and Taylor approaching his story in a more contemporary manner. Just as in Poe s, this story places significance upon the appearance of the house and its surroundings. The Dorsets host parties for each generation of children in their neighborhood. Enhancing further the evidence of gothic style found in Taylor s story, the parents curiosity is overcome by a feeling of horror concerning the types of events that unfold during those parties. The parties also act as points of isolation for the children and the Dorsets. Except for the people who attend the party, no one knew the explanation or the necessity for the annual event. The presence of curiosity and secrecy help to support the gothic basis for this story. The grotesque and incestuous relationship that the Dorsets sustain functions as another gothic element in the text. One of the definite obscurities in the Dorsets house would be the hanging of various pictures, specifically Bronzino s Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time . It is a tiny color print and described as simply being tacked on the wall, and obviously been torn from a book or magazine (Taylor, 765). The picture could be interpreted as a family interacting and behaving immorally, further enhancing the notion that the Dorsets do not just have a sibling relationship but rather a more intimate connection. This print acted as a focal point of the house and further detailed the Dorsets incestuous relationship. In the end, the Dorsets are overcome by their monstrous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stiglitz is clearly against the 1 percent in almost every way. The 1 percent is stingy, useless, and does nothing to provide benefits for the middle class or any body outside of the 1 percent. The deeper into the article I found myself, the more questions came to mind. Are these facts or opinions? Does the authors argument hold any statistical value? The more I questioned the more specific my research became. The research developed into reasons how the marginal productivity theory is in fact a vital part in the 1 percents role in the economy. That piece of information led to two other important pieces of evidence. How much did the 1 percent actually contribute to society? How many job and educational opportunities came from the wealthy elite? The research and statistics go on to speak for themselves by stating how exactly the top 1 percent contribute to society specifically outside of their income class and how many economic opportunities are provided from just the 1 percent alone. When he was in his thirty s he was asked to conduct in Paris for the Lamourex Orchestra, during this period Monti composed a number of operas and ballets such as Noel de Pierrot. In 1904 he wrote what is probably his most famous piece, Czardas, which he based on the Hungarian folk dance called Csardas. Although originally composed for solo violin and piano there have been many arrangements for numerous instruments over the years. Czardas or Hungarian Czardas is a national dance of Hungary for couples; it is written in simple time and involves forceful syncopated rhythms. The dance starts off with a slow section called the Lassu and is followed by a fast section called the Friss. Monti begins his piece at a slow, broad speed marked largo this represents the lassu from the dance. The study of the nature of employment helps in assessing the magnitude of workforce fully reliant on earning from the IMS. This is discussed with Table 1 given below. More than 80% of workers are found to be engaged as full time workers (FTW) at the national level. However a trend of sinking part of FTW is observed with a increasing share of the part time workers (PTW). Dominance of male employment over the female employment is observed both for the category of PTW as well as the FTW. Gender wise distribution of employment shows that the share of both the full time male workers (FTMW) and full time female workers (FTFW) have decreased in 1994 95 and then continuously increased in 2005 06. Part time male workers (PTMW) shows declining share over the entire period, whereas the part time female workers (PTFW) shows an increasing share during the same period.
