Forward Software Settlement or Else
Risk Management: Case Analysis Submission (Forward Software) 1. Introduction and problem
statement
Focus software with its Focus A B C is the current market leader in the spreadsheet market. Focus
Software, being the first mover with its intuitive menu system with functionality like macros had the
largest market share with only one flaw, of printing graphs. Discount Software, with its VIP Scheduler
had the same menu system to ease the user in making the transition to its software whereas Cinco, a
Forward Software product, gave the users the options of either using its own menu system or a Focus

The Causes And Impacts Of Hip-Hop Culture
Hip hop is an art form that came out of a troubled time in American history especially in the Bronx.
The building of hip hop culture in the Bronx caused media culture, cultural diversity, changing
economy and citizens rights and responsibilities to arise through the actions of hip hop culture. In the
beginning, hip hop culture started and spread because of the changing economy and hard times for all,
soon graffiti and hip hop culture became a statement throughout the world and was a media that
spread throughout the world. Hip hop emerged partially because of the diversity of the people living in
the Bronx at the time. However hip hop and graffiti was suppressed because many people, such as
officials, believed the they owned the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

said, I do not like to get into it when we call them Puerto Ricans, they are Africans like us...They are
the African that kept the Drums, they kept the gods of santeria alive. In the 60 s , Black and Puerto
Ricans were always playing the Conga. Always had it the rhythms. This shows that the people came
together in the Bronx even though they were such different cultures. The diversity of the people of the
Bronx and the fact they came together helped adapt when the hip hop movement started. Grandmaster
Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Dj Herc were accepted because the people of the Bronx loved music and
dance. As de industrialization progressed many people in the Bronx started having outdoor parties and
plugged their stereos into lamp post. This activity and the parties brought many people from different
cultures together because of the hard time the Bronx were facing. The parties gave hope to the people
of the Bronx. The changing economy brought many changes to culture and inspired the hip hop
movement partly. In Mark Nason s lecture he talks about how many people adapted hip hop culture
such as beat boxing because of hard times and schools losing their music and art programs. The young
people of the borough, deprived of the opportunity for physical instruments, showcasing their skills

Examples Of Ambiguity In Skellig
The author of Skellig, David Almond uses a lot of ambiguity in the book. Ambiguity makes the reader
want to read more and find out the ending/solution. Skellig is an ambiguous character of the book, and
his very slowly revealed; even at the end his identity turns out to be very vague. One of the examples
in the book is He was lying there in the darkness behind the tea chests, in the dust and dirt. It was as if
he d been there forever. (1) The first time Skellig is mentioned, he is described as he which doesn t tell
us much about him. This makes the reader wonder who Michael is talking about, and makes the book
more ambiguous. Something like you, something like a beast, something like a bird, something like an
angel. He laughed. Something

People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay
The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable to
change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter a
child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they are
taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in some
miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success
than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers,
and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can affect how they
learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through their childhood that
affect their learning abilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically proven to have the most
impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and holding them to a standard
that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time around their children, which
means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact. Parents have the option of being
very helpful throughout their child s school years or they can neglect them and let them figure life out
on their own. Parents are the child s first teachers. Supportive parents help their children with
homework every night, putting in as much effort as possible.

The Acknowledged of True Love in Marie de France’s lais
The admiration of courtly love is no more prevalent theme in Marie s lais than on Yonec and Lanval .
These two lais are showing very aristocratic views on socially states; love of nobility. A love that
cannot be explained by a commoner or peasant that cannot show status has nothing to offer, for
courtly love because a peasant has no chivalry. This courtly love is often secret in that a knight and a
lady are not married to one another but to a different partner making the story adulterous. That secret
at the end makes the story ecstatic and tragic; the adhesive of the story is the passion of love that is
displayed making the store ecstatic and the secret is the tragedy that love cannot be acknowledged.
The principal argument of this essay is to understand courtly love in Marie de France s lais. To
illustrate Marie s view of aristocratic as a point of courtly love in her lais she demonstrate her view in
two different methods in the book Yonec she uses a spiritual understanding to demonstrate aristocratic;
on the contrary Lanval where she explains aristocratic in the amount of human wealth. For instance,
Marie resists in Yonec , that She didn t know what it was. It flew into the chamber; its feet were
banded; it looked like a hawk of five or six moultings (1344). Marie uses a hawk as unhuman, this is
not like a normal commoner but more than that, he is a noble. She uses a hawk since it is as opposite
to any other bird to be interpreted as a knight for his

Negative Impact Of Video Games
Video games can sometimes get a bad reputation but due to contrary belief, video games have been a
positive impact on today s society. Both children and adults have benefitted from the use of video
games. Not to mention the ginormous community video games have brought with it. With things like
Esports, video game companies, and the cognitive benefits for adults and children video games are
here to stay. So how have they affected today s society in a positive way?
If you don t know, esports are multiplayer video games played competitively for spectators, typically
by professional gamers. It is broadcast worldwide similar to any major sports competition. The esports
industry has grown significantly in the past few years. In comparison, the national league of legends
competition has 27 million viewers. Based on an article by Ben Casselman on ESPN, in 2014 this was
the second most watched event on ESPN in 2014. Video games are growing fast. Also in 2014, the
video game industry alone added $6.2 billion to the U.S. Economy, providing approximately 146,000
jobs. The culture of eSports is like nothing else. eSports provides a community for people who don t
have one, or maybe sit on their computers and play video games all day. eSports has turned a
community of nerds into something people are actually taking seriously. eSports and the video game
industry are not just here for entertainment, but they are boosting the U.S. Economy, creating jobs for

Deviance in Hockey
Violence in ice hockey has been an identifying staple in the sport since the first hockey leagues
formed in the mid 1880 s, (Ice Hockey Origins, Growth and Changes in the Game). Since the modern
era of hockey, and the creation of the Stanley Cup, hockey has been viewed as one of the most violent
sports in western civilization. Clarence Campbell, former NHL President has even said that [w]ithout
violence, there would be no such thing as hockey, (Coakley). To an extent hockey is unmatched in
illegal assaults by any other sport, in both amateur and professional leagues, (Colburn). This does not
mean that the contact in other sports is not as intense as hockey, for example rugby and football are
both very violent sports, but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This institutionalization created a different atmosphere around the entire world of sport.
Sports became something that men and women could participate in as well as small children. Because
of this universalization of sport it began to attract the attention of everyone, rather than just the
participants. With a new audience came a new set of views and interpretations of what sports were and
most sports fit into this new set of norms, and if not they adapted to fit into them. Hockey, however,
did not conform to these new norms.
Violence, fistfights specifically, in hockey are viewed as deviant because; that very type of violence is
statistically rare in institutionalized sports and it is harmful to individuals, the sport of hockey, and
society as a whole. This violence also violates the norms that society has created for competitive sport.
Because of these harms, the rarity of such violence in sports, and the violation of the norms, a negative
societal reaction forms.
One of the ways that an act can contract a deviant label is by its statistical rarity, (Bereska). Violence,
such as the fistfights seen in hockey, is a statistical rarity. Statistical rarity in this sense means that the
type of violence seen in hockey, and the volume that it is seen in hockey, is unheard of in any

Big Rock Candy Mountain
Today I was given a set of poems to read and choose one to analyze. I decided I would use Big Rock
Candy Mountain as my poem of choice. I recognize this poem as a song written by Harry McClintock
in 1928. The song is one of the few that can still make sense in today s culture and society and in my
opinion is the mark of a truly great writer. The speaker of the poem is a hobo that was hiking on the
trails. Given that the poem was written in 1928, during the Great Depression, he sounds wistful and
hopeful of the mystical Big Rock Candy Mountains. He is talking to some folks he happened to pass
by on his way down the track. The speaker ultimately sounds like someone who is down on their luck
and only has hope left. Without taking the time frame in which the poem was written, you can feel an
undertone of depression and longing. Throughout the poem, the hobo speaks about this perfect
paradise in the Big Rock Candy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only word that is never rhymed is the word Mountains which is the last line of every stanza. I feel
the writer chose not to rhyme it to further set the Big Rock Candy Mountains apart as paradise on
Earth. The title of the poem as well as it being the last line of each stanza further emphasizes this.
The Big Rock Candy Mountain is the hobo s version of paradise on Earth. The theme for this poem is
dreams and wishful thinking. The author illustrates this by having the poem have a nice upbeat tone to
it. Where all your hopes and dreams will come true and you can just spend your day how you may.
Poems like these are still written in today s society but are expressed through different mediums than
the poetry of old. While this song was originally released in 1928, it didn t gain popularity until 1939.
In today s society, poems are found more often in music than in a book, although those are common
too. Song s in today s society often rhyme or tell a story and can be analyzed just as poetry

How Digestive System Work Together
The digestive system helps the humans break down food and turn it into nutrients. The digestive
system is made up of a lot of different organs such as salivary glands, pharynx, mouth, esophagus,
stomach, liver, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine, and pancreas. Salivary glands produce
saliva, which keeps the mouth and other parts of the digestive system moist. The pharynx role in the
digestive system is to connect the nose and mouth to the esophagus. The mouth is used for putting in
food and also eating the food. The esophagus has only one function and it is to carry food, saliva, and
liquid. The stomach receives the food from the esophagus and secretes acid and enzymes that digest
food. The liver regulates the composition of blood, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rise Of Christianity Research Paper
Rise of Christianity
Among the many religions, Christianity is one of the world s most widely spread, it has the most
number of believers and its teachings spread all over the world, the congregation distributed in various
countries, it is certainly the world s first religion. The core of the Christian faith is Jesus, mainly after
progress of the initial of the belief in Paul and John theology, Peter s Church believes.
This huge religion, its origin and development also experienced various ups and downs. At first,
Christianity was a sect of Judaism, the Jesus of Nazareth. He was raised in Galilee, stronghold of the
Zealots. A Jewish town, Galilee had come under Roman political rule. Roman culture remained a

Believers in his divinity met in small assemblies or congregations, often in one another s homes, to
discuss the meaning of his message. These earliest Christians defined their faith to fit the life of Jesus
into an orthodox Jewish context. Only later did these congregations evolve into what can be called a
church with a formal organization and set of beliefs. Christianity might have remained just another
sect had it not reached Rome, the capital of the Western world. Events in Rome proved to be a
dramatic step in the spread of Christianity for various reasons. First, Jesus had told his followers to
spread his word throughout the world, thus making his teachings universal. The pagan Romans also
considered their secular empire universal, and early Christians there combined these two concepts of
universalism. Secular Rome provided another advantage to Christianity. If all roads led to Rome, they
also led outward to the provinces of central and Western Europe. The very stability and extent of the
Roman Empire enabled early Christians easily to spread their faith southward to Africa and northward
into Europe and across the channel to Britain.

Explain How Environmental Surveillance Can Be An Important...
2. Environmental surveillance can be an important type of surveillance. For example, in monitoring
polio, environmental poliovirus surveillance currently supplements acute flaccid paralysis
surveillance. What is the objective for environmental poliovirus surveillance? What are the rationales
to support the need of this environmental surveillance? (2 A) The main objective of the environmental
surveillance of poliovirus (ES) is to complement and/ or supplement disease based acute flaccid
paralysis (AFP) surveillance for suspected polio cases. One of the cornerstones of global polio
eradication efforts being spearheaded by the Global polio eradication initiative (GPEI) is clinical
surveillance for suspected polio cases, or acute flaccid paralysis cases, with clinical confirmation of

If poliovirus is detected, the genetic sequences of polioviruses isolated from ES are compared with
those of isolates from clinical cases to evaluate the relationships and correlation among the viruses.
The ES provides valuable information, particularly in high density populations where AFP
surveillance is of poor quality, persistent virus circulation is suspected, or frequent virus reintroduction
is perceived. This is evident in countries that are currently endemic Pakistan and Nigeria where ES is
being implemented. The ES of poliovirus in sewage is a sensitive approach to monitor silent
poliovirus circulation in populations that is being served by that sewerage system. ES is important
since it can help in decision making on when to launch a supplementary immunization program. To
evaluate poliovirus transmission, ES programs is being also implemented in countries that are at
highest risk for poliovirus transmission, like Kenya which borders Somalia, a country that has been a

The dish Prawns(shrimp) in Cassava sauce(Bobó de camarão) is made with ingredients that includes
shrimps, cassava (similar to yucca), and tomato sauce. The first step is marinating shrimps in lime
juice, salt, and pepper. Then the shells and heads of the shrimps are boiled and simmered in water,
which will be use it later to make the tomato sauce. The cassava is then peeled and boiled with an
onion and bay leaves. After the cassava has cooked, the ropey fibers are removed. Then the cassava
has to be mashed while adding coconut milk until soft. Next, the shrimps are briefly fried. Chopped
tomato, tomato puree, the onion that was previously boiled, and the prawn stock are simmered in a
pan to make a tomato sauce. The mashed cassava and coriander(cilantro) are mixed together with the
tomato sauce in the pan. This delicious and rich in flavor dish is then topped with the fried shrimp and
served with steamed rice on the side. This recipe has such unique and flavorful characteristics.
Although I thought the consistency of the sauce would be thinner, the texture came out to be a little

Apple Computer redefined the portable digital music player market with its launch of the iPod digital
music player. This began in January of 2001, when it introduced its jukebox software called iTunes.
This software enabled Macintosh users to import songs from audio CD s converting them to MP3
format and storing them on the computer s hard drive. It later launched the iPod digital music player in
October of 2001. The iPod was designed to synch to songs and playlists from iTunes via a Firewire
cable connection. Once music was downloaded, the iPod provided for 10 hours of continuous play
from its rechargeable lithium polymer battery. Media is stored on iPod s internal hard disk (Day,
2005).
The iPod has evolved with subsequent product generations so that it could be used by both Windows
and Macintosh users with iTunes software being made available for each operating system. The iPod
features the company s patent pending, Click Wheel, which combines a touch sensitive wheel with
five push buttons for one handed navigation. Apple touts this feature as one of the industry s first
(Day, 2005).
In October 2005, Apple introduced the new iPod containing a 2.5 inch color screen that enables it to
display album artwork and photos, and play video including music videos, video podcasts, home
movies, short films and television shows. The iPod lineup now includes a 30GB model holding up to

The Usage Of Dietary Supplements
The usage of dietary supplements is very common in United States. Nutrition plays a big role in
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Not everyone gets the all the essential nutrition so they make it up by
purchasing and consuming dietary supplements. Some of the substances include vitamins, minerals,
enzymes, and amino acids. They come in several oral forms such as tablets, capsules, or powders.
These dietary supplements have been around for a long time but only recently over the past twenty
years have they increased tremendously in sales in the United States. And specifically in 2006, the
world wide market has been estimated at more than US $60 billion (Geyer et al, 2008). This expansion

But regardless, it became more marketable ever since 1994 when FDA lost most of their power over
regulations on the production of dietary supplements. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education
Act (DSHEA) of 1994 changed significantly how vitamins, herbs and other supplements are regulated
(Ashar et al, 2007). The government realized how important dietary supplements in the economy was
by being commodities used by half the population, which was spending annually about 4 billion on
4000 products sold by 600 manufacturers (Swann, 2015). The sales for supplements have skyrocketed
and now manufacturers are able to claim they have ingredients in their products when in reality they
do not because of the lack of supervision from the FDA. Companies should be conducting
experiments and doing research to properly market their products but most of the time they do not and
still put their products out. Consumers should be able to have the freedom to buy their choice of
supplements but these products should be regulated to assure buyers that they are purchasing good
quality and safe products.
Aside from trying to buy quality products, regulations of dietary supplements are still quite unknown
to the public so they rely on their healthcare providers for more information. Because physicians are
people who promote health, they should have a basic

The 2016 Presidential Election, Hillary Clinton And Donald...
In United States politics, voters are frequently placed into smaller groups or cohorts based on their
social, economic, and even political views. The general public, pollsters, and even candidates will
assume that these groups or cohorts will vote similarly, regardless of the type or magnitude of
election. In the 2016 presidential election the two main candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump
specifically targeted and campaigned towards some of these groups of voters in an effort to try and
win the presidency. Among these targeted groups were independent/third party voters, women,

In other words, these voters lean one way or the other, but would rather identify with a candidate that
has the same political ideologies that they have rather than an entire party s stance on the plethora of

There are five primary types of independents, the Disengaged , the Disguised Partisan , the
Deliberator , the Disillusioned , and the Dislocated . The Disengaged are individuals who are just not
politically inclined. This group is very unlikely to vote even though they are often registered. The
Disguised Partisans are people who are independent in name only , as they claim to be either
independent or members of third parties but follow partisan lines. This group is sometimes considered
to be undercover independents. The Deliberators are model citizens, and are open to both parties.
Bipartisanship is important to the Deliberators , they tend to vote for candidates and not for a specific
party. The Disillusioned are a group of people who are angry at the current state of political affairs.
Finally, the Dislocated are also truly a group of independents because they do not really fit into either
party. The Dislocated are socially liberal but fiscally conservative. While it may seem as if voters
choose to become members of third parties or independent for reasons due to their disdain for both of
the parties, this may not be completely valid. Most

problem was that it was militaristic, patriarchal, and male, then the antidote would be the embrace of
the prototypically feminine. Radical culture of this period is dominated by displays of femininity as a

Star Spangled Banner And Star Spangled Banner, By...
Bloodshed and the tyranny of battle has inspired art since the beginning of recorded history. In essence
though, the main purpose of war is to protect or enhance the liberties of the people and their families
fighting. Due to the complex and utter horrific experiences that happen during battle, naturally people
want to dedicate a long standing piece of work to honor those who have endured those traumatic
experiences for the greater good. Two examples of art being centered around war are the Star
Spangled Banner, by Francis Scott Key, and a sculpture entitled The Fountain of Eternal Life, by
Marshall Fredericks. When these two works are broken down into their key elements it is apparent
that there are key similarities between the images these works create, and the reasons they were
created; in addition to their connection to civil liberties. One must consider the differences between
the works as well, such as the mediums in which they were created, the theme of the works, and what
they were dedicated to. To be concise, both Key and Fredericks created two extremely different works
of art that have overlapping ideals, and have a strong connection to civil liberties. Civil liberties are
the basic human rights guaranteed to every person. Those rights include ideas like the freedom of
speech, press, and assembly, freedom of religion, and the open pursuit of happiness. A more personal
definition of civil liberties is the ability to be able to live whatever life one wants

The Pros And Cons Of Interest Rates In Banking
To begin, banks are a place to deposit money. Most people think of banks like a safe storage locker. If
a person deposits their paycheck into a bank they have the guarantee of their money being there next
time they check their account, that is if they choose to not spend it. Without banks, consumers would
be forced to hide their money in their homes and under mattresses. That is just impractical and poses
many major risks. Banks are a much safer alternative. Banks also offer interest rates. Interest rates
help consumers not lose money while it sits in the bank. Interest rates fight inflation. According to
Tejvan Pettinger, for current accounts, interest rates could be very low, but for a savings account, the
interest rate could be significant (Pettinger). Generally, this is because savings accounts hold more
money than a checking account. An important factor in banking is interest rates and with interest rates
comes inflation. According to Jean Folger, Inflation refers to the rate at which prices for goods and
services rises. In the United States, interest rates are determined by the Federal Reserve (Folger).
Inflation and interest rates are inversely related to banking. This means if interest rates are low,
inflation will rise. This is because while interest rates are low people will be more likely to borrow
money and this results in the people spending more money causing the economy to expand. When the
economy grows inflation rises. If interest rates are higher this

Racial Discrimination Against Minorities And Immigrants
Since the start of American history, immigrants came here and brought their traditions and cultures
with them. The United States is a country of immigrants. It is a place where people from all over the
world come to build a better life. Some immigrants bring their families. Others come alone with
nothing but determination. Racial discrimination against minorities and immigrants is an underlying
problem here in America today. Racism is seen in our daily lives when people are discriminated
against because of their race and ethnicity. Racism attacks the right to a person s well being on the
basis of something they have no control over. They cannot change nor should want to change who
they are. Racial discrimination is not as bad as it was fifty years ago, but it still a problem here in our
country today. Our country has advanced tremendously as far as modernization and technology, but
has not improved on the way we treat minorities and immigrants. From African Americans, Asians,
Hispanics, and Arabs there is a form of discrimination against these group of minorities.
On social media there was a trending hashtag, #BlackLivesMatter, when the riots in Ferguson began in
August 2014 over the killing of a young African American male by a white police officer. The African
American community made it clear that black lives did matter. They were outraged and upset by the
constant police brutality against them that they believed was caused by the underlying of racism. The

Kamil Running Record Analysis
Running Record/Retelling Assessment
The examiner conducted a set of running records in order to assess Kamil s reading performance and
identify his instructional reading level. Instructional reading level Kamil was asked to read a story
from Reading A Z Benchmark titled A Night in the Trees . The results of the assessment are
summarized in the following table:
Level Word Count Accuracy Time Rate Self correction Retelling Score

Kamil read the story with 97% accuracy, which is independent reading level. His reading rate was 121

His reading rate was slower on this text than the previous passages; Kamil was able to read 79 words

25th percentile. Kamil had difficulty reading the words. He sounded out several words, omitted and
replaced others. Kamil also uttered short vowels in the words scrapes and bruises. It is the opinion of
the examiner that Kamil used mostly visual cues when decoding an unknown word. His self correction
rate was 1:8, which indicates that Kamil did not self monitor himself effectively. When asked to retell
the story, Kamil was able to identify half of the major events. He recognized flashback and without
prompting told the examiner how he calculated Rosalind s age. He also stated a problem and
resolution, however omitted some important setting and character elements. According to A Z criteria,
Kamil scored 11 points for retelling/comprehension, which fell into developing level. After examining
carefully the running record and retelling forms, it is the opinion of the examiner that this text seemed
to be difficult to read and this level might frustrate Kamil in future. Therefore, the examiner decided

Laramie Project Review Essay example
A Death That Revealed the World s Concealed View on Homosexuality The Laramie Project is a play
written by Moises Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theater Project. The play is based on the
interviews of the citizens of Laramie about what s happening in Laramie and their responses to the
murder of Matthew. In addition to the various themes suggested by the play, the author wanted to
present the varying perspectives toward homosexuality in the Laramie community at the time of
Matthew s death. The author also wanted to explore how these perspectives may have changed as the
result of Matthew s death. Even though the citizens of Laramie persisted that hate is not a value they
practice, they still showed contrasting and puzzled views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all citizens of Laramie conveyed a negative view towards the LGBT community. Marge Murray,
together with some of the citizens, gave a notion of live and let live towards homosexuals. Marge
explains,
As far as the gay issue, I don t give a damn on one way or the other as long as they don t bother me.
And even if they did, I d just say no thank you. And that s the Attitude of most of the Laramie
population. They might poke one if they were in a bar situation, you know, they had been drinking,
they might actually smack one in the mouth, but they d just walk away. Most of em, they would just
say, I don t swing that way and whistle on about their business. Laramie is live and let live. (17)
Marge talked about how the citizens of Laramie practice a philosophy that life goes on. There are
times that they are bothered, and they exchange words and even physically hurt one another; but that s
it, they won t hold a grudge on one another. After such argument or fight, they ll just move on and live
another day. Marge pointed out that they practice the same view toward view about homosexuality;
they neither reject nor accept homosexual people.
There are also some citizens of Laramie that showed acceptance towards homosexuals. Father Roger

Formal And Substantive Theory Of The Rule Of Law
The statement above said by Lord Bingham, from The Rule of Law (2007) 66 (1) Cambridge Law
Journal 67 85, p. 76. The statement references that the rule of law is not abided by if the state does not
provide human protection. This statement can be looked upon, agreed and disagreed with after
reviewing the two theories in the rule of law. This will be made possible, as I compare Joseph Raz s
formal theory and Lord Bingham s Substantive Theory on the rule of law. But firstly, I will address
what the Rule of Law is; Rule of Law definition from Oxford dictionary The supremacy of Law is a
feature attributed to the UK constitution by Professor Dicey (Law of Constitution, 1885). We can t
write off the rule of law as irrelevant rhetoric: it has been recognised as an important constitutional
principle in an Act of Parliament: Constitutional Reform Act 2005 1. The rule of Law; This act does

Digital Media And The Origin Of New Media Art
Nowadays, more often than not, we tend to loosely define New Media as Digital Media, primarily
because these media s internet dependency. However, the origins of new media art can be traced to the
moving photographic inventions of the late 19th century such as the zoetrope (1834), the praxinoscope
(1877) and Eadweard Muybridge s zoopraxiscope (1879). From the 1920s through the 1950s, various
forms of kinetic and light art, from Thomas Wilfred s Lumia (1919) and Clavilux light organs to Jean
Tinguely s self destructing sculpture Homage to New York (1960) can be seen as progenitors of new
media art (Vostell, 2012) There s no doubt that technology is moving art and its creative process over
time. The invention of portable paint tubes and art supplies made outdoor painting accessible and
Impressionism prevalent, from where we have had the honor to know about Claude Monet through his
legendary lily pond from his suburban residence at Giverny, France and on the walls of canvas at
Musee L Orangerie in the city of Paris. More recently in the 20th century, if it is not for the
revolutionary invention of silkscreen printing, Andy Warhol would not have become a household
name in the art world. The truth is, to artists, technology has been a driving force to constantly provide
and inspire new ways of art creation for a long time, arguably since the beginning of art history.
However, it is not until the recent decades in the 20th and 21st century that we start to see the

The Stages Of Cognitive Developmental Theory
Piagets stage theory is also known as the cognitive developmental theory. Constructivist perspective.
No matter the name Piaget believed that children benefit most from concrete experiences or hands on
activities that allow the student to manipulate his or her environment in order to build knowledge
based on interactions with the universe.(Mohammad,2012) Piaget believed knowledge is acquired in a
set of stages. There is 4 stages that knowledge is obtained. The first stage Sensorimotor occurs
approximately between the age of two. Children at this stage develop the idea of Object Permanence.
The idea that an object exists even though they can t see it. In this step children also acquire the ability
of reflexes. In stage two Preoperational stage begins. This usually happens between the age of 2 7.
Children of this age bracket are egocentric and are dominated by perception. (ch.2.4) They believe that
the world exists from their view point. They understand concrete present day stuff but no
understanding of abstract. 7 11 yrs enter the Concrete Operational stage. The logical stage. Children
are able to se different viewpoints. There also good at understanding basic math, and classify objects
by more than one characteristic. (a yellow duck can go in yellow category and the duck category.) The
last stage is known as the Formal Operational Stage. When a child is a 11 years or older they are
finally understanding the concept of abstract thinking. Children

Impact Of Celebrity Culture On Society
Celebrity culture is a growing issue that has been cultivated by the prosperity of social media in the
modern world. Celebrity culture effects society in many different ways both positive and negative,
such as celebrities being portrayed as role models in the media, and corporations using celebrity
endorsement to gain clients from the existing fans of the celebrity used. The first article, titled
Celebrity, youth culture and the question of role models discusses how celebrities are portrayed as
good and bad role models in the media based upon previous actions. The author of the editorial piece
was Kirsty Fairclough who published the article to The Conversation on September 15, 2015.
Fairclough takes the side of celebrities being irresponsible and not set for being role models of

This then will holds our population to maintain its current numbers longer along with an increase from

Causes Of The Korean War
Intro
The Korean war left 2.5 million people dead more than half of which civilians, nearly 10% of Korea s
total population. With the war officially starting in June of 1950 it took almost three years of North
and South Korea battling until the armistice was signed in July of 1953. The ongoing cold war
between America and Russia can be linked to as to why the Korean conflict was originally initiated.
Still to this day the border between North and South Korea is a heated zone, there is little to no hope
of a united Korea anytime soon.
Short term cause
American troops began to leave South Korea around mid 1949 with Dean Acheson Releasing a speech
in January 1950 stating that the US would no longer commit their forces to mainland Asia. Acheson
saying that their defensive perimeter ran through Japan and the Ryukyu but not the Republic of Korea
or the Republic of China, The defensive perimeter runs along the Aleutians to Japan and then goes to
the Ryukyus. We hold important defence positions in the Ryukyu Islands, and those we will continue
to hold . The recent withdrawal of American troops from South Korea gave Kim Il Sung an
opportunity to make a push towards South Korea Although; he could not do this alone, he would need
the help of Stalin. After constant persuasion from Kim, Stalin agreed to support Kim with his attack on
South Korea, The recent development of Stalin s first atomic bomb in 1949 may have given him
confidence about the invasion.

Data Of Different Data Types
Section 1.
Introduction
Data of different data types such as text, audio, video are present in large amounts in multimedia
databases .Ordering or retrieving such date is quite tedious and time consuming. Hence there should
be an efficient indexing mechanism for easier retrieval of such data objects. There are various
indexing techniques. The paper presents various efficient indexing techniques multimedia database
comparing and contrasting them.

The time taken by query to retrieve the data in multimedia database is very high when compared with
normal databases that do not contain multimedia files. This is because of the indexing structure used
in databases. The regular indexing model is not exactly suitable for the multimedia ... Show more

This approach is dynamic and allows for efficient retrieval of data items without any basic indexing
structure as progressive query is used. However the progressive Query gives optimal result only under

In the current industry, uses of digital libraries have increased rapidly leading to the growth of
multimedia data. Hence it is really difficult to access the huge amounts of data. There is need for an
efficient approach to organize the data and access the data in really short span of time. This system [4]
follows a tree structure to index the data and access every node. The nodes are divided leaf nodes and
non leaf node, leaf node having information of its distance to the nearest neighbor, dimensional
features of the node itself. It is implemented as arrays of information, containing the address to leaf
nodes and minimum distance to the neighboring nodes similar non leaf node. In this way the nodes are
arranged and indexed, used as indexes to make searching easy. In the approach nearest neighbor can
be accessed easily. Since single indexing is used for entire system, the same indexing can be used for
both inserting and deleting. It also works in high dimensional environment. The

However, alcohol dependence was becoming a problem and many started realizing that. Taking action
to stop this was the hard part. Alcohol was corrupting the 1920s even though some did not recognize
it. In the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald displays the corruption during the 1902s through his

18th Amendment would not have been set into place. The whole idea of both the Volstead Act and the
18th Amendment was to only keep people and the society safe. Unfortunately, however, there were
loopholes for people to legally drink during Prohibition. The 18th Amendment technically said
nothing about actually drinking the liquor. Many people used this to get out of trouble when being
accused of breaking the 18th Amendment. Prohibition went into effect a full year after the 18th
Amendment was ratified. This gave people a whole year to buy cases of then legal alcohol and stored
them in places to use for personal reasons. This was actually a very smart thing to do. The Volstead
Act also stated alcohol consumption was allowed if you had it prescribed to you by a doctor. A large
number of new prescriptions were written for alcohol. The ways that people snuck around these laws

Similarities Between Gilgamesh And Genesis
There is a lot of evidence to prove and explain how the Israelite people might have known or heard
some Babylonian myths. This evidence is shown through similarities in the Genesis creation myths
and many Babylonian myths. As an example, there are many similarities shown throughout the
Gilgamesh story that relates to the Noah story in Genesis. Some similarities include the heroes
character, the order to build a boat, the number of animals, the means of the flood, and the action of
sacrificing after the flood. These are only a few of the many similarities interpreted in these stories.
The first similarity is that the character of the heroes in both the Gilgamesh story as well as the
Genesis/Noah story. In both stories, the heroes character is righteous. For example, in Noah s Arc, it
states that a righteous man (Genesis 6:9) was directed to build an ark to save a limited and select
group of people and all species of animals. Noah received these orders directly from God. On the
other hand, Utnapishtim received his order from a dream. The next similarity is the order to build a
boat. In the Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim is clearly instructed to build a boat and leave all wealth behind. O
man of Shuruppak, son of Ubartutu: Tear down the house and build a boat! Abandon wealth and seek
living beings! (Gilgamesh 23 25). In comparison at the beginning of the Noah flood story, Noah is
also instructed to build a boat or an arc for the flood. So make yourself an ark of cypress

Essay On Coywolf
LIKE some people who might rather not admit it, wolves faced with a scarcity of potential sexual
partners are not beneath lowering their standards. It was desperation of this sort, biologists reckon,
that led dwindling wolf populations in southern Ontario to begin, a century or two ago, breeding
widely with dogs and coyotes. The clearance of forests for farming, together with the deliberate
persecution which wolves often suffer at the hand of man, had made life tough for the species. That
same forest clearance, though, both permitted coyotes to spread from their prairie homeland into areas
hitherto exclusively lupine, and brought the dogs that accompanied the farmers into the mix.
Interbreeding between animal species usually leads to offspring less vigorous than either parent if they

Javier Monzón, who worked until recently at Stony Brook University in New York state (he is now at
Pepperdine University, in California) studied the genetic make up of 437 of the animals, in ten north

coywolf s genetic material is dog and a quarter is wolf.
The DNA from both wolves and dogs (the latter mostly large breeds, like Doberman Pinschers and
German Shepherds), brings big advantages, says Dr Kays. At 25kg or more, many coywolves have
twice the heft of purebred coyotes. With larger jaws, more muscle and faster legs, individual
coywolves can take down small deer. A pack of them can even kill a moose.
Coyotes dislike hunting in forests. Wolves prefer it. Interbreeding has produced an animal skilled at
catching prey in both open terrain and densely wooded areas, says Dr Kays. And even their cries blend
those of their ancestors. The first part of a howl resembles a wolf s (with a deep pitch), but this then

Machiavelli And Love
Friedrich Nietzsche s The Gay Science uses definitions and descriptions to compare love and greed
and ultimately argue that love is often merely another name for greed. He contrasts love as having a
positive connotation, whereas greed holds a negative one. But upon defining each and showing
examples of love, he calls into question if the love of neighbors and love of truth and knowledge are
not just another craving for possession. This desire for what is new is compared using the description
of one s desire to travel to more beautiful places after living somewhere new for even just three
months. Nietzsche suggests that such an unsatisfied spirit is one of greed because the person

This is different from Nietzsche s approach because he does not employ definitions and descriptions
as much, but rather compares the degrees of severity in the effects of both love and fear. Machiavelli
begins by noting that love is held by the tie of obligation and thus one may break that bond if he or she
faces difficulty or has a personal interest. This is then compared with fear which is bound by the
apprehension of punishment and is, therefore, a reliable relationship. Machiavelli compares these two
examples of cause and effect to emphasize that in the context of an army, it is better to be feared than
loved. His use of rhetoric here makes the reader consider the outcome of different war scenarios if the
leader is not feared. He proposes that an army that loves its commander may fall apart due to the frail
and fickle nature of man when in the heat of battle. This is then compared to a commander who has
instilled a healthy fear in his army and, as a result, has remained victorious and united in the face of
war. By using these techniques, he effectively argues that the impacts of being feared are far better
than those of being loved. This method of comparison is different from Nietzsche s because
Machiavelli assumes the definitions of his terms and goes right ahead to showing causes and effects of
love and fear. Nietzsche

  • 3. The Causes And Impacts Of Hip-Hop Culture Hip hop is an art form that came out of a troubled time in American history especially in the Bronx. The building of hip hop culture in the Bronx caused media culture, cultural diversity, changing economy and citizens rights and responsibilities to arise through the actions of hip hop culture. In the beginning, hip hop culture started and spread because of the changing economy and hard times for all, soon graffiti and hip hop culture became a statement throughout the world and was a media that spread throughout the world. Hip hop emerged partially because of the diversity of the people living in the Bronx at the time. However hip hop and graffiti was suppressed because many people, such as officials, believed the they owned the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Africa Bilbao, a person that lived in the Bronx in 60s, said, I do not like to get into it when we call them Puerto Ricans, they are Africans like us...They are the African that kept the Drums, they kept the gods of santeria alive. In the 60 s , Black and Puerto Ricans were always playing the Conga. Always had it the rhythms. This shows that the people came together in the Bronx even though they were such different cultures. The diversity of the people of the Bronx and the fact they came together helped adapt when the hip hop movement started. Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Dj Herc were accepted because the people of the Bronx loved music and dance. As de industrialization progressed many people in the Bronx started having outdoor parties and plugged their stereos into lamp post. This activity and the parties brought many people from different cultures together because of the hard time the Bronx were facing. The parties gave hope to the people of the Bronx. The changing economy brought many changes to culture and inspired the hip hop movement partly. Skellig is an ambiguous character of the book, and his very slowly revealed; even at the end his identity turns out to be very vague. One of the examples in the book is He was lying there in the darkness behind the tea chests, in the dust and dirt. It was as if he d been there forever. • 5. People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable to change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter a child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they are taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in some miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers, and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can affect how they learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through their childhood that affect their learning abilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically proven to have the most impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and holding them to a standard that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time around their children, which means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact. Parents have the option of being very helpful throughout their child s school years or they can neglect them and let them figure life out on their own. Parents are the child s first teachers. Supportive parents help their children with homework every night, putting in as much effort as possible. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Acknowledged of True Love in Marie de France’s lais The admiration of courtly love is no more prevalent theme in Marie s lais than on Yonec and Lanval . These two lais are showing very aristocratic views on socially states; love of nobility. A love that cannot be explained by a commoner or peasant that cannot show status has nothing to offer, for courtly love because a peasant has no chivalry. This courtly love is often secret in that a knight and a lady are not married to one another but to a different partner making the story adulterous. That secret at the end makes the story ecstatic and tragic; the adhesive of the story is the passion of love that is displayed making the store ecstatic and the secret is the tragedy that love cannot be acknowledged. The principal argument of this essay is to understand courtly love in Marie de France s lais. This institutionalization created a different atmosphere around the entire world of sport. Sports became something that men and women could participate in as well as small children. Because of this universalization of sport it began to attract the attention of everyone, rather than just the participants. With a new audience came a new set of views and interpretations of what sports were and most sports fit into this new set of norms, and if not they adapted to fit into them. Hockey, however, did not conform to these new norms. Violence, fistfights specifically, in hockey are viewed as deviant because; that very type of violence is statistically rare in institutionalized sports and it is harmful to individuals, the sport of hockey, and society as a whole. This violence also violates the norms that society has created for competitive sport. Because of these harms, the rarity of such violence in sports, and the violation of the norms, a negative societal reaction forms. One of the ways that an act can contract a deviant label is by its statistical rarity, (Bereska). Violence, such as the fistfights seen in hockey, is a statistical rarity. I recognize this poem as a song written by Harry McClintock in 1928. The song is one of the few that can still make sense in today s culture and society and in my opinion is the mark of a truly great writer. The speaker of the poem is a hobo that was hiking on the trails. Given that the poem was written in 1928, during the Great Depression, he sounds wistful and hopeful of the mystical Big Rock Candy Mountains. He is talking to some folks he happened to pass by on his way down the track. The speaker ultimately sounds like someone who is down on their luck and only has hope left. Without taking the time frame in which the poem was written, you can feel an undertone of depression and longing. Throughout the poem, the hobo speaks about this perfect paradise in the Big Rock Candy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only word that is never rhymed is the word Mountains which is the last line of every stanza. I feel the writer chose not to rhyme it to further set the Big Rock Candy Mountains apart as paradise on Earth. The title of the poem as well as it being the last line of each stanza further emphasizes this. The Big Rock Candy Mountain is the hobo s version of paradise on Earth. The theme for this poem is dreams and wishful thinking. The author illustrates this by having the poem have a nice upbeat tone to it. Where all your hopes and dreams will come true and you can just spend your day how you may. Poems like these are still written in today s society but are expressed through different mediums than the poetry of old. While this song was originally released in 1928, it didn t gain popularity until 1939. In today s society, poems are found more often in music than in a book, although those are common too. In essence though, the main purpose of war is to protect or enhance the liberties of the people and their families fighting. Due to the complex and utter horrific experiences that happen during battle, naturally people want to dedicate a long standing piece of work to honor those who have endured those traumatic experiences for the greater good. Two examples of art being centered around war are the Star Spangled Banner, by Francis Scott Key, and a sculpture entitled The Fountain of Eternal Life, by Marshall Fredericks. When these two works are broken down into their key elements it is apparent that there are key similarities between the images these works create, and the reasons they were created; in addition to their connection to civil liberties. One must consider the differences between the works as well, such as the mediums in which they were created, the theme of the works, and what they were dedicated to. To be concise, both Key and Fredericks created two extremely different works of art that have overlapping ideals, and have a strong connection to civil liberties. If a person deposits their paycheck into a bank they have the guarantee of their money being there next time they check their account, that is if they choose to not spend it. Without banks, consumers would be forced to hide their money in their homes and under mattresses. That is just impractical and poses many major risks. Banks are a much safer alternative. Banks also offer interest rates. Interest rates help consumers not lose money while it sits in the bank. Interest rates fight inflation. According to Tejvan Pettinger, for current accounts, interest rates could be very low, but for a savings account, the interest rate could be significant (Pettinger). Generally, this is because savings accounts hold more money than a checking account. An important factor in banking is interest rates and with interest rates comes inflation. According to Jean Folger, Inflation refers to the rate at which prices for goods and services rises. In the United States, interest rates are determined by the Federal Reserve (Folger). Inflation and interest rates are inversely related to banking. This means if interest rates are low, inflation will rise. However, the origins of new media art can be traced to the moving photographic inventions of the late 19th century such as the zoetrope (1834), the praxinoscope (1877) and Eadweard Muybridge s zoopraxiscope (1879). From the 1920s through the 1950s, various forms of kinetic and light art, from Thomas Wilfred s Lumia (1919) and Clavilux light organs to Jean Tinguely s self destructing sculpture Homage to New York (1960) can be seen as progenitors of new media art (Vostell, 2012) There s no doubt that technology is moving art and its creative process over time. The invention of portable paint tubes and art supplies made outdoor painting accessible and Impressionism prevalent, from where we have had the honor to know about Claude Monet through his legendary lily pond from his suburban residence at Giverny, France and on the walls of canvas at Musee L Orangerie in the city of Paris. More recently in the 20th century, if it is not for the revolutionary invention of silkscreen printing, Andy Warhol would not have become a household name in the art world. The truth is, to artists, technology has been a driving force to constantly provide and inspire new ways of art creation for a long time, arguably since the beginning of art history. However, it is not until the recent decades in the 20th and 21st century that we start to see the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No matter the name Piaget believed that children benefit most from concrete experiences or hands on activities that allow the student to manipulate his or her environment in order to build knowledge based on interactions with the universe.(Mohammad,2012) Piaget believed knowledge is acquired in a set of stages. There is 4 stages that knowledge is obtained. The first stage Sensorimotor occurs approximately between the age of two. Children at this stage develop the idea of Object Permanence. The idea that an object exists even though they can t see it. In this step children also acquire the ability of reflexes. In stage two Preoperational stage begins. This usually happens between the age of 2 7. Children of this age bracket are egocentric and are dominated by perception. (ch.2.4) They believe that the world exists from their view point. They understand concrete present day stuff but no understanding of abstract. 7 11 yrs enter the Concrete Operational stage. The logical stage. Children are able to se different viewpoints. The whole idea of both the Volstead Act and the 18th Amendment was to only keep people and the society safe. Unfortunately, however, there were loopholes for people to legally drink during Prohibition. The 18th Amendment technically said nothing about actually drinking the liquor. Many people used this to get out of trouble when being accused of breaking the 18th Amendment. Prohibition went into effect a full year after the 18th Amendment was ratified. This gave people a whole year to buy cases of then legal alcohol and stored them in places to use for personal reasons. This was actually a very smart thing to do. The Volstead Act also stated alcohol consumption was allowed if you had it prescribed to you by a doctor. A large number of new prescriptions were written for alcohol. The ways that people snuck around these laws just shows how much they really depended on alcohol back then (Rosenberg). • 38. Similarities Between Gilgamesh And Genesis There is a lot of evidence to prove and explain how the Israelite people might have known or heard some Babylonian myths. This evidence is shown through similarities in the Genesis creation myths and many Babylonian myths. As an example, there are many similarities shown throughout the Gilgamesh story that relates to the Noah story in Genesis. Some similarities include the heroes character, the order to build a boat, the number of animals, the means of the flood, and the action of sacrificing after the flood. These are only a few of the many similarities interpreted in these stories. The first similarity is that the character of the heroes in both the Gilgamesh story as well as the Genesis/Noah story. In both stories, the heroes character is righteous. For example, in Noah s Arc, it states that a righteous man (Genesis 6:9) was directed to build an ark to save a limited and select group of people and all species of animals. Noah received these orders directly from God. On the other hand, Utnapishtim received his order from a dream. The next similarity is the order to build a boat. In the Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim is clearly instructed to build a boat and leave all wealth behind. O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubartutu: Tear down the house and build a boat! Abandon wealth and seek living beings! (Gilgamesh 23 25). In comparison at the beginning of the Noah flood story, Noah is also instructed to build a boat or an arc for the flood. • 39. Essay On Coywolf LIKE some people who might rather not admit it, wolves faced with a scarcity of potential sexual partners are not beneath lowering their standards. It was desperation of this sort, biologists reckon, that led dwindling wolf populations in southern Ontario to begin, a century or two ago, breeding widely with dogs and coyotes. The clearance of forests for farming, together with the deliberate persecution which wolves often suffer at the hand of man, had made life tough for the species. That same forest clearance, though, both permitted coyotes to spread from their prairie homeland into areas hitherto exclusively lupine, and brought the dogs that accompanied the farmers into the mix. Interbreeding between animal species usually leads to offspring less vigorous than either parent if they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Javier Monzón, who worked until recently at Stony Brook University in New York state (he is now at Pepperdine University, in California) studied the genetic make up of 437 of the animals, in ten north eastern states plus Ontario. The DNA from both wolves and dogs (the latter mostly large breeds, like Doberman Pinschers and German Shepherds), brings big advantages, says Dr Kays. At 25kg or more, many coywolves have twice the heft of purebred coyotes. With larger jaws, more muscle and faster legs, individual coywolves can take down small deer. A pack of them can even kill a moose. Coyotes dislike hunting in forests. Wolves prefer it. Interbreeding has produced an animal skilled at catching prey in both open terrain and densely wooded areas, says Dr Kays. And even their cries blend those of their ancestors. • 40. Machiavelli And Love Friedrich Nietzsche s The Gay Science uses definitions and descriptions to compare love and greed and ultimately argue that love is often merely another name for greed. He contrasts love as having a positive connotation, whereas greed holds a negative one. But upon defining each and showing examples of love, he calls into question if the love of neighbors and love of truth and knowledge are not just another craving for possession. This desire for what is new is compared using the description of one s desire to travel to more beautiful places after living somewhere new for even just three months. Nietzsche suggests that such an unsatisfied spirit is one of greed because the person constantly wants to possess what he or she does not already ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is different from Nietzsche s approach because he does not employ definitions and descriptions as much, but rather compares the degrees of severity in the effects of both love and fear. Machiavelli begins by noting that love is held by the tie of obligation and thus one may break that bond if he or she faces difficulty or has a personal interest. This is then compared with fear which is bound by the apprehension of punishment and is, therefore, a reliable relationship. Machiavelli compares these two examples of cause and effect to emphasize that in the context of an army, it is better to be feared than loved. His use of rhetoric here makes the reader consider the outcome of different war scenarios if the leader is not feared. He proposes that an army that loves its commander may fall apart due to the frail and fickle nature of man when in the heat of battle. This is then compared to a commander who has instilled a healthy fear in his army and, as a result, has remained victorious and united in the face of war. By using these techniques, he effectively argues that the impacts of being feared are far better than those of being loved. This method of comparison is different from Nietzsche s because Machiavelli assumes the definitions of his terms and goes right ahead to showing causes and effects of love and fear. Nietzsche ...
