Comparing Emily Bronte s And Frankenstein
What does it mean when one describes a noble beast , and to what extent must a damaged character
wreak havoc for their actions to be deemed monstrous? How do we define a monster? These questions
are posed to readers of Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, two novels tied by threads of revenge
and discrimination. Both stories are about created monsters and how they have been wronged by those
around them. Those monsters proceed to seek vengeance on the people who have harmed them.
Several parallels can be drawn between Heathcliff and Frankenstein s monster, although the
circumstances and results of their warping differ, and these comparisons help one determine whether
their actions are justified or are impossible to redeem. Both characters have been victims of abuse that
they did not deserve. Frankenstein created a grotesque creature who was still biologically human. His
horrendous appearance got him maltreatment from those around him, including getting scolded by his
own creator for existing, a feat that Victor himself committed. Heathcliff was also subject to
discrimination, due to low social status and even racism from his dark skin and questionable origin.
Take my colt, gipsy, then! ...Hindley finished his speech by knocking him (Heathcliff) to his feet...

Heathcliff never shows remorse for his actions, and instead becomes empty and swells with the soul of
Catherine. He does eventually find less pleasure in punishing Cathy and Hareton, but he never
apologizes. Frankenstein s monster feels so ashamed that he vows to commit suicide, while Heathcliff
s death is from the soul of whom he once loved, as revenge consumed him completely. Heathcliff, in
the end, wholly believes that the actions he has taken, from hanging the dog of his wife to kidnapping
and imprisoning children, are not

It seemed overdone given the situation Taylor becoming overwhelmed with her father s sudden turn
for the worse. I think rather than impulsively deciding that she should never have involved Henry in
her life again because it was strangely selfish to do so, Taylor should have realized that she was
desperately in need of his support more than ever and that he was willing to oblige, given his caring
personality. I think Taylor felt almost as if she needed to give all her time to her family. For example,
she speaks about the contrast of being at home and being at the lake house. I kept thinking back to all
those nights in Connecticut, when I was out the door as soon as dinner was over, yelling my plans
behind me as I headed to my car, ready for my real night to begin my time with my family just
something to get through as quickly as possible. And now that I knew that the time we had together
was limited, I was holding onto it, trying to stretch it out, all the while wishing I d appreciated what I
d had earlier. Taylor feels guilty and pressure to spend the most time with her family but at the same
time she can t just put a pause on her life completely and cut people out

Teenage Struggle
Chapter 1 Problem and its Setting The emergence of new technologies and the fast paced
technological advancements marked the beginning of the 21st century. Different gadgets and tools to
suffice the wants and to help ease the difficulties encountered by man in his daily existence have been
invented and are constantly developed. Unlike in the past, these changes are not confined to a certain
nation or country only, but rather, to the whole human population. Effects of these technologies in the
fields of medicine, education, transportation, communication, economics, and warfare, to name a few,
are globally observable. Information superhighway is undoubtedly one of the most developed fields.

Alternative Hypothesis Social Networking sites have increased the rate amp; quality of collaboration
for students. They are able to communicate meeting times or share information quickly, which can
increase productivity and help them learn how to work well in groups. Social networking sites teach
students skills that they will need to survive in the business world. Being able to create and maintain
connections to many industries is an integral part of developing a career or building a business.
Statement of the Problem Generally, this research paper is giving information about the effects of
social networking sites, particularly Facebook and Twitter, to the studies of selected grade 8 students
of St. Mary s Academy of Caloocan City. Specifically, it seeks to answer the following: 1. What are
the profiles of the respondents in terms of their: a. Age b. Gender c. Time allotted for using social

The Role Of Dna Analyst On The Rights Of The Defendant
The goals of science are to make sure that the goods and services they provide are of value to the
community, enhance knowledge, discredit false information or beliefs, and most importantly to keep a
record through documentation so that others can benefit from the knowledge obtained as well (1).
The role of the DNA analyst is also, in part, to protect the rights of the defendant. The DNA analyst
contributes to the trial process in that their job is to analyze evidence, according to set guidelines and
procedures can sway jurors or a judge. The results from the analyst s analysis can be entered into the
court in compliance with the defendant s right to view the evidence, a process called discovery. When
they testify, they are in compliance with the defendant s right to confront their accusers. The right to a
fair trial conducted in a competent manner, right to be present at trial, right to an impartial jury, and
right to be heard in one s own defense is a part of the defendant s right to due process.
Discovery is as defined in Butler 2012 is the legal process whereby information and materials relating
to the prosecution of a defendant in an upcoming trial are shared between the prosecution team, for
instance, law enforcement, crime laboratory, prosecuting attorney, and the defense counsel (1). The
guidelines of discovery are outlined by the laws of the federal and state governments. The prosecution
must share every element of their case against the defendant with the

Colonial Unity
The native Indians surrounding New England were very closely related in culture but lacked political
unity. Most of the tribes were subdivided into many bands. Each of these bands would wage wars
against each other although causing few casualties the defeated were humiliated and had to pay tribute
to the winner. These Indians were much less demanding from nature as they moved between locations
as seasons passed. As the New England colonists saw this they appointed themselves to judge how
much land they needed as they took the rest. The Indians did not understand how this working
expecting it to be an agreement to share the land although shocked when they were arrested for
trespassing. As the colonists kept cutting down the trees creating land ... Show more content on

Allied with other native tribes the colonists burned down a sleeping village killing those that ran out.
This shocked their native allies as they had never seen such casualties in a battle. As the Pequot
dissolved the colonists then decided to try and weaken the Narragansett encouraging the captured
Pequot to turn on their enemies. Unable to united the Indians bands shrank rapidly amongst the
growing population of the New England colonists. Soon Puritans decided to start converting the
Indians. To do this they created praying towns which for weaker bands provided appeal since they had
been gravely devastated by colonial assault. Even though these Indians were supposedly part of the
colonial society the were very untrusted. Plymouth later provoking another confrontation with
Wampanoag many of its warriors were outraged and took action attacking colonial homes. These
small victories encouraged many other bands to join in the fight against the Puritans. With Indians
now armed with flintlock guns the colonists no longer had an upper hand. The Indians destroyed fifty

Short Essay On Louisiana
Pelican Brief Research Essay
During the early 1900 s the discovery of oil and natural gas in areas around Baton Rouge attracted
chemical companies to the city (Reilly). Since the beginning of the 1900 s Louisiana has been a large
refining state, one may say one of the best, but also one of the most damaging. It can be safely said
that since the start of refining in Louisiana well over a billion pounds of pollution has been released.
In 2011 alone over a million pounds of chemicals were released into the air and a separate 1.3 million
had been released into the water. All of Louisiana s 17 refineries reported accidents contributing to
these chemical spills (Sturgis). The numbers that have been presented so far may not seem out of the
ordinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Shreveport, LA, many residents suffer from respiratory issues that they believe are caused by the
local refinery, Calumet (Moskowitz). Residents have suffered for generations losing family members
to cancer that they believe is brought on by pollution that the refinery emits. Some residents suffer
lesser but chronic health issues ranging from minor respiratory issues like asthma to blood clots in
their lungs. Calumet denies that its refinery is the cause of any of these health issues (Moskowitz).
Many chemicals that are released by refineries can cause respiratory problems, cancer, nerve damage,
and in some cases even death. There is no absolute way to be sure that all health problems happening
near Calumet are caused by the pollution that it emits, but it could be a contributing factor in
worsening symptoms. A resident of Marrero, LA, a town south of Norco refining, stated that they
could not leave their house due to excess levels of pollution triggering asthma attacks (Ludwig).
Sulfur dioxide is a known chemical that can trigger asthma attacks, it is also one of the many harmful
chemicals that can be released by refineries (Sturgis). Refineries will measure levels of emissions
when there is a chemical spill, so they know almost exactly how much pollution they have emitted.
Minor incidents are not always reported or are under reported, but they can have the same damaging
effects on the environment and the overall health of the community (Sturgis). LABB s reports
confirms what workers and residents have known for years petrochemical companies to often skirt the
laws for reporting serious incidents

Italian Unification Research Paper
Italy Post 1815
There were many different empires on the European continent before Napoleon s rule. As many as 20
Italian city states existed, all of which were tiny. Before unification, Italy had not been unified since
the Roman Empire. The Congress of Vienna restored pre Napoleonic independent governments. The
Austrian Empire opposed unification because it controlled Northeastern Italy at the time. The papacy
(the Pope and the church) also opposed unification because it feared persecution. Whether the new
Italy would be a confederation, a republic, or a monarchy was not yet decided.

The Effects Of Sucrose On Pain
decreases pain is unknown. However, theory supported in animal studies shows the analgesic effects
of sucrose can be reversed by using naltrexone. Further studies show that infants who were born to
mothers being treated with methadone did not demonstrate the same analgesic effects from sucrose.
These findings are essential in demonstrating that the decrease in pain is not similar to the response
elicited by non nutritive (NNS) sucking and decrease pain through activation of a different
neurological pathway. The main point is the effect of sucrose on pain relief is linked to the sweetness
of the solution, as seen with other sweetening solutions such as glucose (McCall, DeCristofaro, Elliott,

Punta Cana Research Paper
Punta Cana Fun
Visiting a different island in the Caribbean each summer has always been a family tradition of mine.
The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once my
family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts were not
so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to Punta Cana,
falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. As soon as we landed we were
greeted with songs and happiness all around. The nobleness lingering in the atmosphere, coconut
smell in the air, and architecture went beyond my imagination.
The Dominican Republic in the West Indies occupies the eastern two thirds of the island of
Hispaniola. The beach city of Punta Cana is located on the far eastern shore of Dominican Republic in
the province of Altagracia, bordering the Atlantic Ocean ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sugary sand of a Punta Cana beach is so soft, so perfectly golden that you might think it was
synthetic. My favorite thing to do was build enormous sand castles along the shore as the sun blazed
down on me, the sand glistened in the sun like an eight karat diamond ring. The resorts are laid out
like mini cities, completely inclusive in every way, with many of them offering so many amenities that
it made it impossible to partake of everything available,
such as scuba diving, fishing, golfing, wind sailing, enjoying a day at the spa, or a day out on a yacht.
This is the ultimate destination for those who simply want to drop their bags, turn off the cell, and
ignore the rest of the world for a little while. We spent five more days in Dominican after leaving
Punta Cana, but it seems like my memories of Punta Cana overshadowed the rest of the journey. Punta
Cana is worth writing and telling everyone about Punta Cana is worth admiring, and most certainly it
is worth visiting again and

Descriptive Essay On A Beach
For this assignment I decided to head out to Docweiler Beach near LAX. I love the beach, not so
much for going swimming or getting wet but more to lay in the sand and just relax to the soothing
sound of the waves, especially nice in this hot weather. I decided to bring my sister for the ride so it s
not to lonely and set up around a more deserted part for more concentration and relaxation. I also
chose Dockweiler Beach because there I could get a sense of all the 5 ancient elements all in one
sitting, with all the elements interacting. Water clashing against the sand to create a calming sound, the
wind riding against the waves causes a cool chill down my spine and the man made fire to keep warm.
I can feel the earth element in the sand getting in my toes and all over my clothes to later find more in
my underwear. The Air element is strong along the beach, getting my hair all over my face as well as
making kites fly high. I see the fire element being used to light the bonfires along the beach to keep
people warm on the windy beach or to probably make S mores. The water element as I can see is the
giant ocean in front of me going as far as I can see with no ending. Another reason I don t like going
into the water, the ocean is terrifying especially when you don t know how to swim. Then there is the
void element which in this case is me and my mind observing this presence and writing it out in this
essay. Officially today there is a total of 118 elements in the periodic table. These ancient four
elements originated from the ancient Greeks and then the fifth element aether (void) was added by
Aristotle. Before the fifth element the first four elements which were earth, wind, water, and fire,
represented to the ancient Greeks as well as modern science the four states of matter. In these 4 states
of matter we have solid representing the earth element, liquid representing the water element, gas
representing the air element, and plasma representing the fire element. The ancient 5 elements are
active is every bodies daily routine schedule. It s something we see every day and don t notice the
affects they have on us. Looking more closely to everyday life we have earth. Earth is what we walk

Penicillin Essay
Penicillin was accidentally discovered at St. Mary s Hospital, London in 1929 by Dr. Alexander
Fleming. As test continued, Fleming began to realize that he was on the verge of a great discovery.
However, he still did not know the identity of the fungus, and had little knowledge of fungi. His crude
extracts could be diluted 1,000 times and still be effective in killing bacteria. After years of working
on penicillin and going nowhere, many of his co workers grew tired of hearing about it. The first real
test for penicillin came when a 48 year old police officer nicked himself shaving. After a time,
Alexander s face became infected and he developed a temperature. When he was rushed to the
hospital, the doctors believed that he had only hours ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Penicillin brought about the biggest search in medical history. It was reasoned that if there was one
antibiotic in nature, there must be many more, and there were.
If anything should be taken off of the Basic s List, it should be Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is
simply survival of the fittest. This a simple view, and is not practiced much very often. Penicillin on
the other hand, has saved thousands, if not millions of lives, and started its own medical revolution to
seek for new cures to other things as well.
World War II turning points are much more important than penicillin. If there were not any breaks for
the American troops, then there would have been many more lives lost in the war than needed.
Possibly, there would be more lives lost in the fighting than saved by penicillin in its fist two decades
of public use.
Penicillin has helped save many lives throughout the years. It has cured things like strep throat, which
many people have had in their lives, syphilis, and gonorrhea. It also sparked a new wave of

Juvenile Rights Of Juveniles
The Rights of juveniles Juveniles also have rights that look out for their best interest. According to,
Delinquency and Juvenile Justice in American Society, Sheldon provides the rights that juveniles are
granted. The supreme court ruled that when a judge considers whether to transfer a case from juvenile
court to an adult court, a juvenile is entitled to a hearing and has the right to counsel. The court must
provide a written statement giving the reasons for the waiver, and the defense counsel must be given
access to all records and reports used in reaching the decision to waive. Often times juveniles rights
are waived or broken due to lack of proper legal representation. (Sheldon, 2006) In the case of Gault,
they argued that the juvenile code of Arizona was unconstitutional: The justices found in favor of
Gault include (1) adequate written notice of charges, (2) the right to counsel, (3) privilege against self
incrimination, (4) the right to cross examine accusers, (5) a transcript of the proceedings, and (6) the
right to appellate review. (Gault, 2002) Nevertheless, more recent studies indicates that the system
today has failed to deliver the procedural justice promised by gault. For example, misconduct which
includes forcing unprepared parties to proceed with trial or a guilty plea, interrupting the lawyers
witness examinations with their own questions, and cutting off lawyers questioning. It was also

Descriptive Essay On Poplar Hill Farm
Let me tell you about my 1986 visit to a place that sometimes feels forgotten to time and history.
October is usually the time of year when the intense heat of the summer in Mississippi is waning and
cooler conditions are on the way, but the summer of 1986, the heat, still intense. Ordinarily, visiting

listened to stories about, the place I have wanted to visit since beginning my research. An adventure of

and Boles Riley, ask questions and of course, LISTEN to all the stories about their lives and stories of
the ancestors. What came as somewhat of a surprise, and I did not know, these men Willie and Boles,
they were the last two men to have known Delaney Jackson. My first stop, the Fayette Chancery

The Success Of A Mobile
The success of a mobile application depends on several factors. But none is more important than its
ability to deliver an amazing User Experience (UX). Many experts have concluded the fact that the
popularity of a mobile app depends exclusively on the level of UX it offers to the users.
So, what are the factors that go into creating an ideal mobile UX? A number of studies conducted on
this aspect has determined a range of expertise and technologies that go into achieving it. Experts have
analyzed that most of the leading apps are able to maximize UX through advanced procedures, and by
following some of the modern best practices. A couple of latest methodologies include Motivational
design and Playful interfaces.
Motivational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth takes a more pragmatic approach and combines both motivational and instructional
designing with the use of omnibus models.
Playful UI is about utilizing the aspects of fun and play into the user interface of a mobile app. The
ideology has been influenced by the gaming industry, which has successfully implemented alluring
interfaces that ideally balance the intriguing facets of functionalism and fun. The methodology
involves a deep understanding of the people s day to day life and aims to engage them in a playful
manner. By adding the fascinating attributes of play and enjoyment in their lives, the concept aims to
deliver an interface that can appear much more pleasant and enjoyable to the users.
As mobility continues to mature, the role of the design has increased in importance. Here are some of
the vital tips that can be followed to create advanced mobile UX design:
Flexible Layouts
Developers must focus on eradicating all kinds of rigidity from the layout of the app. In order to
ensure their app displays on screens with various sizes, they must make it fluid and flexible.
Irrespective of the dimension, the layout must match their break points to avoid looking weird to the
users. A wise usage of the advanced responsive design techniques can be an ideal way to ensure
fluidity in the layouts.

Genetic Studies Of Prostate Cancer
Background: Among various epithelial cancers, genomic studies of prostate cancer (PCa) identified
several molecular markers including E26 transformation specific (ETS) gene fusions, SPINK1 and
many others. The prevalence of these molecular markers in African American (AA) prostate cancer
has not been studied to the extent that has been studied for European American (EA) prostate cancer to
understand the racial disparity. Contrary to the conventional approaches, new approaches are needed
to understand the underlying genetic disparity between the AA and EA PCa. Therefore, we have
developed refined approaches to screen whole mount radical prostatectomy tissues rather than
systematic sampling of tumor from dominant/index nodule to assess the fundamental molecular
differences in the incidence of molecular markers between AA and EA prostate cancer.
Hypothesis/Objective: Prostate molecular markers have been first discovered using the cancer genome
of individuals other than African American decent. Due to the lack of screening in a large cohort of
AA PCa the prevalence of these markers in AA PCa is not known. Given the fundamental differences
in the ancestral history of the genome of AA and EA the prevalence of these molecular markers may
be markedly different. Conventional systematic sampling approaches may not reveal the true

Comparing Upper Body Muscular Endurance On Female...
Purpose:
The purpose of the study was clearly stated in the introduction of the article. The purpose of the study
was to compare upper body muscular endurance in female university level modern dancers and female
students who do not dance, but are physically active. Studies have shown that dancing put dancers at a
high risk of becoming injured. Modern dancers are at a higher risk of becoming injured than any other
dancers due to the physical demands of upper body movement.
Hypothesis:
The authors stated the hypothesis for their expected outcomes. They believe that these female
university level modern dancers will have more upper body muscular endurance than non dancers.
The only down fall for this study is that the authors have not found any research to support their
hypothesis.
Research Design:
The participants were thirty two females from a college s modern dance program who had no history
of injuries for the previous three months. The authors did not select these participants; the program
recruited them. The non dancers were randomly selected amongst the university s population. The
participants had to be in compliance with the study s minimal inclusion physical activity criterion.
Therefore, physical activity data was collected from all the participants. The authors received consent
from the university s Institutional Review Board to conduct the study. They also gave the participants
a consent form to read and sign. The researchers used a push up test to measure the

Theology of Grace
Theology of Grace There are many different ways to interpret the theology of grace. In this paper, I
will be discussing four major theologians who have the most popular insights on grace. These
theologians include Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, and Rahner who all have their own unique
perspective on grace. All of their theories seem to intertwine with one another but each individual one
has a different twist that makes them slightly different. The first theologian I m going to discuss is
Augustine. Augustine was known as the Father of Grace. He believed that all human nature is in
disorder due to universal sin of Adam and Eve. According to Augustine, sin is passed on by sexual
acts, even if a married couple engaged in sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thought that grace is forgiveness of god in which salvation comes through God. Trust of God was
expressed in God s merciful love. Luther believed that a merciful god would deliver anyone from the
evil they did. Only by the grace of God can forgiveness of sin be achieved. Even after you are graced,
you are still partly a sinner. He believed that you could not merit grace and could not learn grace
through works, it is all given. Grace is totally undeserved and only through God s choice can you be
graced. Lastly is Rahner, who was a Neo Thomist and a student of Aquinas. Rahner believed in the
supernatural existential and obediential potency meaning that as we re born we have the ability and
capacity to receive the love of God. He said that grace was God s self communication in love. Also,
grace is not an extra addition to human nature. Karl Rahner developed a theology that views grace as
the offer of God s love that is intrinsic to existent human nature (pg. 1). He believed that you can
either accept or reject the honor of grace. According to Rahner, human beings freely choose to ratify
or to reject that orientation which is itself the free gift of a loving God, but the orientation remains
structured into their being (pg. 2). You re only free when you love. If you decide to love then you are
authentic but if you decide not to love then you are disgraced. Rahner believed that like God, we can

Texas Reflection Paper
Reflection Paper
Texas has been a one party state for nearly a century. Despite substantial changes in many areas
throughout history, Texas political culture is one area that has remained rather steady. Looking back as
far as the post civil war, until the late 1970 s Texas was considered a majority Democratic state. After
a century of post reconstruction, the Democratic Party were the victors of electoral dominance in all
levels of state government and in Texas representation in the national government as well (Edsall).

Census Bureau the Anglo population has decreased from 66 percent in 1980 to 44 percent in 2015.
The expected change in the five year span from 2015 to 2020 is negative three percent. Hispanics
alone are predicted to be the new majority with Anglos only constituting a mere 27.5 percent of the
Texas population in the year 2050 (Jillson 17). Research has shown that minorities such as African
American, Asian, and Hispanic voters tend to have a liberal ideology. The Democratic coalition of non
white, young, and well educated voters continues to grow, as the Republican coalition of white, older,
and less educated continues to decrease (Wasserman). This change in demographics influences the
prediction of the demise of the Republican party s domination of Texas government. The support of
black voters is crucial to the success of the Democratic party, because most of the Democratic votes
are from the lower to middle class and African Americans make up a fair percentage of it, especially
when this ethnic group has just received thorough voting privileges. If the voter turnout or
partisanship of black voters were to drop from their current levels, the Democratic party would lose its
competition with Republican party, because most of the Republicans are upper class Americans that

The Government Must NOT Censor Pornography Essay
It goes by many names, from smut to erotic art. It s as old as civilization itself, and is present in all
cultures, with or without the approval of those in authority. It takes many forms, finding expression in
literature, music, painting, sculpture and theater, as well as in the more modern media of photography
and cinema. Its creators range from the anonymous scrawler to the likes of Catullus, Michelangelo,
Shakespeare, Titian, and Wagner; and their talents run the gamut from childishly crude to supremely
eloquent. As with any other creative genre, pornography indulges a wide variety of tastes from the

Adult Americans are still free in most localities to choose for themselves whether or not to procure

Analysis Of The Emperor Of Ice Cream
6. While Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that goodnight and Wallace Stevens The Emperor of Ice
Cream both deal with overcoming or facing a death, the poems take contrasting views on how to see
death. Death is subjective and the effects of it change depending on who has passed and who is
experiencing the loss. Death can be portrayed in a positive and negative tone and in a reverent one as
well.
Thomas portrays death in the reverent tone. He is urging the dying to down in flames, to burn as bright
as possible before he or she can no longer burn at all. This is shown through the title, Do not go gentle
into that goodnight , and through the phrases burn and rave and the repeated rave, rave . Thomas is
urging the dying to leave something to be remembered by. He wants them to leave one last mark on
this world.
Stevens contrasts Tomas view on death. Stevens death is frivolous and has no impact on the world. A
common woman has died, and nobody seems to care and that s exactly how Stevens wants use to feel
about it. He seemingly portrays her as a monster to get the point of her not mattering to resonate. The
line horny feet protrude give the deceased undesirable qualities that causes the reader to see her as less

Exchange Rate In Canada
The US and Canada share more than just a border. Professional athletes from both countries can often

currently there are 6 teams in Canada that are currently part of US professional sports leagues. By the
year 2035 it is predicted that there could be up to 11 new teams formed(Campbell). This is beneficial
to both the US and Canada s economy because professional sports are typically profitable and draw a

23% of the teams in the NHL are Canadian and these teams generate 35% of the league s revenue.
When Canadian teams cannot produce enough revenue, the entire NHL league is affected. Baseball is
no different. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays generate an extra $600,000 for every cent the
exchange rate goes up (Exchange). In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is
predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates
will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows sports teams to plan for the gap
between American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues. When the exchange rate is in favor of
the Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams. This allows them to spend more on player
salaries, possibly making their teams better without having to worry as much about revenue. For teams
who are very successful in recent years, such as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less
of an issue. Even though they chose to spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed
so well that the fan loyalty and interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can
also impact teams negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to
Arizona because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver
Canucks faced a similar problem in 2002. They played their players a total of $62 million US which
exchanges to $81 Canadian. This left the team with $19 million Canadian dollars to be made up
through other ways. The NHL is the 99th most profitable business in Canada (Maich) and therefore is
highly impacted by the exchange rate. Canadian sports teams will have to make a choice between
paying their players less money or pay them more but find new ways to bring in money in order

The Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials
Introduction
The Salem Witch Trials were started after a group of three girls started to have fits, and were accused
of being possessed by the devil and performing witchcraft. One of the girls, Tituba a Caribbean slave,
had confessed that she had encountered the devil in a dream and the devil had requested her to serve
him. The Salem Witch Trials had caused mass hysteria throughout Massachusetts, but once the
governor s wife had been accused of witchcraft the governor had stepped in to put a stop to the Salem
Witch Trials.
Conflict
The Salem Witch Trials began after a group of three girls became sick in 1962. These girls started to
have fits, which included throwing things, moving into weird positions and screaming. The local
doctor blamed this ailment on supernatural and accused the girls of being possessed by the devil.
Tituba, a Caribbean slave, admitted to being possessed by the devil after he appeared in one of her
dreams asking her to do his bidding, but neither of the two other girls had confessed to being
possessed by the devil even after Tituba had.
During the Salem Witch Trials, 20 people and even two animals were killed. Most people believe that
people that were accused of being witches were burned at the stake during The Salem Witch Trials,
but contrary to popular belief not a single person was killed by being burnt at the stake. Most of the
people killed during the Salem Witch Trials were actually killed by being hanged on a hill that is now
known as Gallows

In 1991, a gruesome and terrible war broke out in Sierra Leone that ended up killing 50,000 harmless

war while watching everything around him fall apart. While he was trying to seek protection, he was

the grisly ways of a murderer at a very early age. After years of violently fighting against the
Revolutionary United Front (RUF), The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) came to the army
camp and brought Ishmael back to safety at the Benin Home. In the memoir, A Long Way Gone,
Ishmael Beah transitions from a child soldier to a civilized person because of the nurse, Esther, and
moving in with Uncle Tommy. The help of Esther, the nurse, was instrumental in Ishmael s transition
from a violent child soldier to a civilized person because she never gave up on him, and she
encouraged him to share his stories. When Beah returned to the Benin Home, he had no influential
adults in his life, and he couldn t let himself trust people because his lieutenant gave him away to the

knowledge at home from a parent, a family member, and even friend. Education is a key that allows
people to move up in the world, seek better jobs, and succeed in life. Education is one factor that
affects job positions people hold, advance in their further career, the income they make, and the title
they hold. The more educated a person is, the more prestige and power that person holds. Education
improves the quality of life, reduces ignorance, and exposes frontiers and opportunities not previously
handled. Education also focuses on the values, attitudes and behaviors that enable individuals to learn
to live together in a world characterized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The similarities include administering a nationwide exam given to all the students. All students are
equally evaluated based on these scores. The test is used to determine which university students are
able to attend. There are also significant differences between these exams. In America the exams are
called the SAT or the ACT. In China it is named Gaokao. The Gaokao test is taken very seriously. This
test is taken for multiple days. Parents rent hotel rooms nearby so their student can have a quiet lunch
and take a nap. Some Chinese students go insane for this exam. They study for the Gaokao while
hooked up to IV drips. The IV drips contain amino acids which would provide the students with extra
energy (Kristof). This would definitely never be allowed in U.S. And lastly, merit pay is different in
China than U.S. The Chinese believe in merit pay and in using student test scores for teacher
evaluation. For example, when the 9th graders leave middle school they are tested to see which high
school they are qualified to attend. Since the same teachers have had those students for three years,
they compare their entry score to their exit score. The classes that showed the most academic gain
resulted in that banzhuren receiving a bonus that might range from 3000 Yuan to 6000 Yuan (one
month or two months pay). The same is true at the high school level. This is not the case in America.

Importance of Eucharist
Importance of the Eucharist
Receiving the Eucharist is one of the most important things we can do as a catholic. Holy Communion
is the most important of all the sacraments. It completes the Sacraments of Initiation. The bread and
wine we receive at communion is the body and blood of Jesus. It becomes the bread and body of Jesus
through Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation is the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic
elements into the body and blood of Christ at consecration, only the appearances of bread and wine
still remain. We participate in the sacrament of communion to commemorate all that Jesus did for us
and getting nailed to a cross so we can be free from sin and have eternal life in heaven.
The Lord gave us the sacrament of communion on Holy Thursday at the Last Supper. After first
washing the feet of the disciples, he then did the breaking of the bread. Jesus said Take, eat, this is my
body after Jesus said this he did the same for the wine saying Drink from it, all of you, for this is my
blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins . This shows us how Jesus
himself is the bread and wine us Catholics receive at Holy Communion. The sacrament of
Communion is the only one of the seven sacraments that we are actually receiving Jesus directly,
along with having a grace bestowed upon us.
Receiving Holy Communion is very important. We should receive it as much as possible and be very
excited to receive it. Before

The Dangers of Child Work Force Essays
Child work force has been a problem for more than 100 years, some of our older generations have
been working for most of their life. Some kids have been working for most of their lives some of their
parents don t even work these kids get low money some of their parents sale them. Some of these kids
don t even have parents they are just wandering around streets looking for jobs. Some of these kids are
working in hazard jobs and domestic labour and carpet weaving and other horrible jobs and these kids
and not only missing out of their education but their health is at stake.Child Labour is increasing day
by day and it s because there s a lot of poor countries and some of these childrens parent is some times
ill so they can t work but that still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For some work, children receive no payment, only food and a place to sleep. Children in informal
sector work receive no payment if they are injured or become ill, and can seek no protection if they
suffer violence or are maltreated by their employer.(Child Labour)And sometime some of these kids
are very sick and have conditions but they still work hard like in Mexico some of the kids that are
asking for money they are usually working for someone like if you give them food they will tell you
that they want money not food that s when you know they are working for someone and something
those people are are very mean and the usually don t feed them and/or they whip them. Some of these
kids don t even know how to write and/or read like some of these kids 2 out of 10 know how to read
and/or write.Over 8.4 million kids are working right now some of them are working in the streets and
others are working in the fields and others are forced to become terrorist slaves some of these kids are
forced to become maids. All child labour, and especially the worst forms, should be eliminated. It not
only undermines the roots of human nature and rights but also threatens future social and economic
progress worldwide. Trade, competitiveness and economic efficiency should not be a pretext for this
abuse. Toolkit for mainstreaming employment and decent work/United Nations System Chief

Anorexia And Bulimia Nervosa
Introduction
In today s society, media is everywhere around us, and it can have a greater impact on us than we
believe and/or like to admit. According to James G Webster, media can be defined as a way of
communicating with the general public; newspapers, magazines, television, and billboards. Being
exposed to mass media s glorification of slim and modified bodies can over time lead to a negative
body image, and that possibly leading to extreme dieting and mental health problems, such as an
eating disorder.
Body image involves one s perception, imagination, emotions, and physical sensations of and about
our bodies (Lightstone, 2012). Lightstone also argued that body image is not based on facts, but in our
nature and influenced more by self esteem than by actual attractiveness judged by others. According to
Lightstone, body image can change depending on mood, environment, and mental health. A
dissatisfied body image can lead to dieting, and sometimes even eating disorders. The eating disorders
that this essay will focus on are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. ... Show more content on

The eating disorder is characterized by refusal to eat a normal amount of food, and a great fear of
gaining weight or staying at a normal weight considering the person s age and height. Other common
symptoms related to Anorexia Nervosa include distorted body image and a great fear of gaining
weight. The treatment for the disorder often includes of therapy and rehabilitation, although a meta
analysis covering 119 study series concluded that only 33% of the disorder sufferers fully recover, and
20% do not find treatment helpful at all, and therefore remain chronically ill (Steinhausen,

Managing Resistance to Organizational Change Essay
In the course of considering and implementing change, the need frequently arises for effective
application of the approaches and tools for managing resistance to change (Palmer, Dunford, Akin,
2009). Change often fails from ineffective management of the internal and external forces of
resistance opposing change (Kotter Schlesinger, 2008; Oreg, 2003; Palmer et al., 2009). In response,
this paper discusses the approaches (tools) deemed most essential for managing resistance to change
relative to the scope of the situational contexts in which they might be applied. The discussion centers
on considerations for the multidimensional conceptualizations of resistance that are often ignored in
evaluating alternatives for taking action. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s disposition to
resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from strong opposition to ambivalence to
strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived
degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural
justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self efficacy,
tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the multidimensional nature
and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation theory (Meyer, Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004),
which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci
Ryan, 2008; Gagné Deci, 2005). This integrated theory characterizes varying levels and polarity of
behavioral responses to change relative to affective, normative, or continuance forms of motivation
and commitment. The variation in behavioral responses when plotted on continuums of
intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, internal/external locus of causality, and prevention/promotion focused
regulation reflects the degree to which basic psychological needs of autonomy, competency, and
relatedness are realized during the change

Molar Lab Experiment
Formal Lab Report
Molar Mass Determination by Freezing Point Depression
By: Taylor Williams
Lab Partner: Andrew Hall
CHE 115 02
September 28, 2017
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to learn concepts that explain the effect of solutes on the properties
of liquids and to determine the molar mass of an unknown substance by using freezing points
determined by a digital temperature probe. The molar mass of the unknown substance will be
determined by measuring the freezing point of the lauric acid and lauric acid mixed with an unknown
solute, then plugging those results into the freezing point depression equation (∆T = i*Kf*m). This
equation will solve for the molality, number of moles, and the molecular weight of an unknown solute.
The unknown substance will ultimately be determined based on matching the calculated molecular
weight to the possible substance s molecular weights.
The basic methods of this lab involves setting up a water bath, placing the lauric acid in a flask to
melt, then observing the temperature until it maintains a steady state. Once the correct information is
obtained, the freezing point depression equations can be used to determine the molecular weight of an
unknown substance. According to the General Chemistry Laboratory II notebook, The freezing point
of a solution relative to that of the pure solvent is influenced by the number of moles of solute present,
and therefore is related to molar mass ( Department of Chemistry and

Impact Of Stalinism
Assess the impact of Stalinism on the Soviet State until 1941
1st paragraph Stalin, the cult of personality
Stalin s cult of personality, derived through propaganda, censorship and education, was an essential
element of Stalinism which had a significant impact on the society and culture of the Soviet State
between until 1941. Stalin s 50th birthday on 21 December 1929 initiated the moment in Stalin s
dictatorship in which the leader became an object of worship. Millions of party member came to
compare Stalin to Lenin, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Eventually the cult of Stalin saw him as a
political, military, scientific and philosophical genius. While the people feared Stalin, they were still
drawn to his patriotism and love for the Motherland. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stalin s Five Year Plans included the embarkment of huge industrial projects and a campaign to
collectivise agriculture. Almost all party members agreed that the Soviet State would require massive
industrial growth to achieve a secure society. Collectivisation was to be undertaken to ensure food
supplies to the cities and help mechanisation, increase output and reduce costs . The first of Stalin s
Five Year Plans reflected Lenin s ideas of giving priority to industries such as hydro electric power,
coal, iron, steel ships, railways, and machinery. However, this first plan failed due to falls in food and
consumer goods output and the many unrealistic plan targets. The second of the Five Year Plans was
scheduled to begin in October 1928 and focused on the production of consumer goods for the workers
and peasants to increase their production, as well as development of heavy industry base for the
military. The third of the Five Year Plans was intended to increase the supply of scarce consumer
goods. However, the Third Plan never met its goals as it was interrupted by the German attack on
Russia in June

Group Counseling Reflection
I learned two significant things about group counseling in this course. The first thing that I learned is
the importance of setting up a treatment plan. The intention is to follow the client from their entrance
into the program until the client is discharged. In this process the clients problems are identified
through various assessments and as each problem is addressed, it is checked off of the list. Once all of
the problems are checked off of the list, the client is considered as having completed the plan. This
plan is especially important because it evokes thoughtful conversation between the client and the
counselor and is the best method to gain information from the client regarding the help they want to
receive. The second most significant thing that I learned about group counseling is how to design a
group from start to finish. From pre group design, planning the goals of the group and determining the
members to setting up the environment and structuring the sessions, each step adds its own important
components to designing group counseling. As a potential group leader I have learned a few things
about myself in terms of my interactions with the clients. I am patient with my clients because I
understand that it takes time for clients to build trust in the counselor and because it also takes time for
a client to accept their situation allowing them to move toward positive change. I am a good listener
because I realize that as a counselor, I have to allow my clients the

  • 2. Comparing Emily Bronte s And Frankenstein What does it mean when one describes a noble beast , and to what extent must a damaged character wreak havoc for their actions to be deemed monstrous? How do we define a monster? These questions are posed to readers of Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, two novels tied by threads of revenge and discrimination. Both stories are about created monsters and how they have been wronged by those around them. Those monsters proceed to seek vengeance on the people who have harmed them. Several parallels can be drawn between Heathcliff and Frankenstein s monster, although the circumstances and results of their warping differ, and these comparisons help one determine whether their actions are justified or are impossible to redeem. Both characters have been victims of abuse that they did not deserve. Frankenstein created a grotesque creature who was still biologically human. His horrendous appearance got him maltreatment from those around him, including getting scolded by his own creator for existing, a feat that Victor himself committed. Heathcliff was also subject to discrimination, due to low social status and even racism from his dark skin and questionable origin. I think Taylor felt almost as if she needed to give all her time to her family. For example, she speaks about the contrast of being at home and being at the lake house. I kept thinking back to all those nights in Connecticut, when I was out the door as soon as dinner was over, yelling my plans behind me as I headed to my car, ready for my real night to begin my time with my family just something to get through as quickly as possible. Different gadgets and tools to suffice the wants and to help ease the difficulties encountered by man in his daily existence have been invented and are constantly developed. The Role Of Dna Analyst On The Rights Of The Defendant The goals of science are to make sure that the goods and services they provide are of value to the community, enhance knowledge, discredit false information or beliefs, and most importantly to keep a record through documentation so that others can benefit from the knowledge obtained as well (1). The role of the DNA analyst is also, in part, to protect the rights of the defendant. The DNA analyst contributes to the trial process in that their job is to analyze evidence, according to set guidelines and procedures can sway jurors or a judge. The results from the analyst s analysis can be entered into the court in compliance with the defendant s right to view the evidence, a process called discovery. When they testify, they are in compliance with the defendant s right to confront their accusers. The right to a fair trial conducted in a competent manner, right to be present at trial, right to an impartial jury, and right to be heard in one s own defense is a part of the defendant s right to due process. Discovery is as defined in Butler 2012 is the legal process whereby information and materials relating to the prosecution of a defendant in an upcoming trial are shared between the prosecution team, for instance, law enforcement, crime laboratory, prosecuting attorney, and the defense counsel (1). The guidelines of discovery are outlined by the laws of the federal and state governments. The prosecution must share every element of their case against the defendant with the ... Each of these bands would wage wars against each other although causing few casualties the defeated were humiliated and had to pay tribute to the winner. These Indians were much less demanding from nature as they moved between locations as seasons passed. As the New England colonists saw this they appointed themselves to judge how much land they needed as they took the rest. The Indians did not understand how this working expecting it to be an agreement to share the land although shocked when they were arrested for trespassing. Unable to united the Indians bands shrank rapidly amongst the growing population of the New England colonists. Soon Puritans decided to start converting the Indians. To do this they created praying towns which for weaker bands provided appeal since they had been gravely devastated by colonial assault. Even though these Indians were supposedly part of the colonial society the were very untrusted. Plymouth later provoking another confrontation with Wampanoag many of its warriors were outraged and took action attacking colonial homes. • 7. Short Essay On Louisiana Pelican Brief Research Essay During the early 1900 s the discovery of oil and natural gas in areas around Baton Rouge attracted chemical companies to the city (Reilly). Since the beginning of the 1900 s Louisiana has been a large refining state, one may say one of the best, but also one of the most damaging. It can be safely said that since the start of refining in Louisiana well over a billion pounds of pollution has been released. In 2011 alone over a million pounds of chemicals were released into the air and a separate 1.3 million had been released into the water. All of Louisiana s 17 refineries reported accidents contributing to these chemical spills (Sturgis). The numbers that have been presented so far may not seem out of the ordinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Shreveport, LA, many residents suffer from respiratory issues that they believe are caused by the local refinery, Calumet (Moskowitz). Residents have suffered for generations losing family members to cancer that they believe is brought on by pollution that the refinery emits. Some residents suffer lesser but chronic health issues ranging from minor respiratory issues like asthma to blood clots in their lungs. Calumet denies that its refinery is the cause of any of these health issues (Moskowitz). Many chemicals that are released by refineries can cause respiratory problems, cancer, nerve damage, and in some cases even death. There is no absolute way to be sure that all health problems happening near Calumet are caused by the pollution that it emits, but it could be a contributing factor in worsening symptoms. A resident of Marrero, LA, a town south of Norco refining, stated that they could not leave their house due to excess levels of pollution triggering asthma attacks (Ludwig). Sulfur dioxide is a known chemical that can trigger asthma attacks, it is also one of the many harmful chemicals that can be released by refineries (Sturgis). Refineries will measure levels of emissions when there is a chemical spill, so they know almost exactly how much pollution they have emitted. Minor incidents are not always reported or are under reported, but they can have the same damaging effects on the environment and the overall health of the community (Sturgis). The Congress of Vienna restored pre Napoleonic independent governments. The Austrian Empire opposed unification because it controlled Northeastern Italy at the time. The papacy (the Pope and the church) also opposed unification because it feared persecution. Whether the new Italy would be a confederation, a republic, or a monarchy was not yet decided. Further studies show that infants who were born to mothers being treated with methadone did not demonstrate the same analgesic effects from sucrose. These findings are essential in demonstrating that the decrease in pain is not similar to the response elicited by non nutritive (NNS) sucking and decrease pain through activation of a different neurological pathway. The main point is the effect of sucrose on pain relief is linked to the sweetness of the solution, as seen with other sweetening solutions such as glucose (McCall, DeCristofaro, Elliott, 2013). The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once my family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts were not so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to Punta Cana, falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. As soon as we landed we were greeted with songs and happiness all around. The nobleness lingering in the atmosphere, coconut smell in the air, and architecture went beyond my imagination. The resorts are laid out like mini cities, completely inclusive in every way, with many of them offering so many amenities that it made it impossible to partake of everything available, such as scuba diving, fishing, golfing, wind sailing, enjoying a day at the spa, or a day out on a yacht. This is the ultimate destination for those who simply want to drop their bags, turn off the cell, and ignore the rest of the world for a little while. • 11. Descriptive Essay On A Beach For this assignment I decided to head out to Docweiler Beach near LAX. I love the beach, not so much for going swimming or getting wet but more to lay in the sand and just relax to the soothing sound of the waves, especially nice in this hot weather. I decided to bring my sister for the ride so it s not to lonely and set up around a more deserted part for more concentration and relaxation. I also chose Dockweiler Beach because there I could get a sense of all the 5 ancient elements all in one sitting, with all the elements interacting. Water clashing against the sand to create a calming sound, the wind riding against the waves causes a cool chill down my spine and the man made fire to keep warm. I can feel the earth element in the sand getting in my toes and all over my clothes to later find more in my underwear. The Air element is strong along the beach, getting my hair all over my face as well as making kites fly high. I see the fire element being used to light the bonfires along the beach to keep people warm on the windy beach or to probably make S mores. The water element as I can see is the giant ocean in front of me going as far as I can see with no ending. Another reason I don t like going into the water, the ocean is terrifying especially when you don t know how to swim. Then there is the void element which in this case is me and my mind observing this presence and writing it out in this essay. Officially today there is a total of 118 elements in the periodic table. These ancient four elements originated from the ancient Greeks and then the fifth element aether (void) was added by Aristotle. Before the fifth element the first four elements which were earth, wind, water, and fire, represented to the ancient Greeks as well as modern science the four states of matter. In these 4 states of matter we have solid representing the earth element, liquid representing the water element, gas representing the air element, and plasma representing the fire element. The ancient 5 elements are active is every bodies daily routine schedule. It s something we see every day and don t notice the affects they have on us. As test continued, Fleming began to realize that he was on the verge of a great discovery. However, he still did not know the identity of the fungus, and had little knowledge of fungi. His crude extracts could be diluted 1,000 times and still be effective in killing bacteria. After years of working on penicillin and going nowhere, many of his co workers grew tired of hearing about it. World War II turning points are much more important than penicillin. If there were not any breaks for the American troops, then there would have been many more lives lost in the war than needed. Possibly, there would be more lives lost in the fighting than saved by penicillin in its fist two decades of public use. Penicillin has helped save many lives throughout the years. • 17. Juvenile Rights Of Juveniles The Rights of juveniles Juveniles also have rights that look out for their best interest. According to, Delinquency and Juvenile Justice in American Society, Sheldon provides the rights that juveniles are granted. The supreme court ruled that when a judge considers whether to transfer a case from juvenile court to an adult court, a juvenile is entitled to a hearing and has the right to counsel. The court must provide a written statement giving the reasons for the waiver, and the defense counsel must be given access to all records and reports used in reaching the decision to waive. Often times juveniles rights are waived or broken due to lack of proper legal representation. (Sheldon, 2006) In the case of Gault, they argued that the juvenile code of Arizona was unconstitutional: The justices found in favor of Gault include (1) adequate written notice of charges, (2) the right to counsel, (3) privilege against self incrimination, (4) the right to cross examine accusers, (5) a transcript of the proceedings, and (6) the right to appellate review. (Gault, 2002) Nevertheless, more recent studies indicates that the system today has failed to deliver the procedural justice promised by gault. For example, misconduct which includes forcing unprepared parties to proceed with trial or a guilty plea, interrupting the lawyers witness examinations with their own questions, and cutting off lawyers questioning. October is usually the time of year when the intense heat of the summer in Mississippi is waning and cooler conditions are on the way, but the summer of 1986, the heat, still intense. Ordinarily, visiting with family, an easy task, but this was a bit different. The Poplar Hill Farm a place I had read about, listened to stories about, the place I have wanted to visit since beginning my research. An adventure of a lifetime, excited by the opportunity, a bit nervous, questioning my preparedness, but determined to gain knowledge from Willie and Boles about their lives in Jefferson County. • 22. Genetic Studies Of Prostate Cancer Background: Among various epithelial cancers, genomic studies of prostate cancer (PCa) identified several molecular markers including E26 transformation specific (ETS) gene fusions, SPINK1 and many others. The prevalence of these molecular markers in African American (AA) prostate cancer has not been studied to the extent that has been studied for European American (EA) prostate cancer to understand the racial disparity. Contrary to the conventional approaches, new approaches are needed to understand the underlying genetic disparity between the AA and EA PCa. Therefore, we have developed refined approaches to screen whole mount radical prostatectomy tissues rather than systematic sampling of tumor from dominant/index nodule to assess the fundamental molecular differences in the incidence of molecular markers between AA and EA prostate cancer. Hypothesis/Objective: Prostate molecular markers have been first discovered using the cancer genome of individuals other than African American decent. Due to the lack of screening in a large cohort of AA PCa the prevalence of these markers in AA PCa is not known. Given the fundamental differences in the ancestral history of the genome of AA and EA the prevalence of these molecular markers may be markedly different. Conventional systematic sampling approaches may not reveal the true prevalence in AA PCa. Therefore, we propose to undertake an innovative approach using whole mount radical prostatectomy to understand the racial disparity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose of the study was to compare upper body muscular endurance in female university level modern dancers and female students who do not dance, but are physically active. Studies have shown that dancing put dancers at a high risk of becoming injured. Modern dancers are at a higher risk of becoming injured than any other dancers due to the physical demands of upper body movement. Hypothesis: The authors stated the hypothesis for their expected outcomes. They believe that these female university level modern dancers will have more upper body muscular endurance than non dancers. The only down fall for this study is that the authors have not found any research to support their hypothesis. Research Design: The participants were thirty two females from a college s modern dance program who had no history of injuries for the previous three months. The authors did not select these participants; the program recruited them. The non dancers were randomly selected amongst the university s population. The participants had to be in compliance with the study s minimal inclusion physical activity criterion. Therefore, physical activity data was collected from all the participants. • 24. Theology of Grace Theology of Grace There are many different ways to interpret the theology of grace. In this paper, I will be discussing four major theologians who have the most popular insights on grace. These theologians include Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, and Rahner who all have their own unique perspective on grace. All of their theories seem to intertwine with one another but each individual one has a different twist that makes them slightly different. The first theologian I m going to discuss is Augustine. Augustine was known as the Father of Grace. He believed that all human nature is in disorder due to universal sin of Adam and Eve. According to Augustine, sin is passed on by sexual acts, even if a married couple engaged in sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thought that grace is forgiveness of god in which salvation comes through God. Trust of God was expressed in God s merciful love. Luther believed that a merciful god would deliver anyone from the evil they did. Only by the grace of God can forgiveness of sin be achieved. Even after you are graced, you are still partly a sinner. He believed that you could not merit grace and could not learn grace through works, it is all given. Grace is totally undeserved and only through God s choice can you be graced. Lastly is Rahner, who was a Neo Thomist and a student of Aquinas. Rahner believed in the supernatural existential and obediential potency meaning that as we re born we have the ability and capacity to receive the love of God. He said that grace was God s self communication in love. Also, grace is not an extra addition to human nature. Karl Rahner developed a theology that views grace as the offer of God s love that is intrinsic to existent human nature (pg. 1). He believed that you can either accept or reject the honor of grace. According to Rahner, human beings freely choose to ratify or to reject that orientation which is itself the free gift of a loving God, but the orientation remains structured into their being (pg. 2). You re only free when you love. If you decide to love then you are authentic but if you decide not to love then you are disgraced. Rahner believed that like God, we can know and can ... While Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that goodnight and Wallace Stevens The Emperor of Ice Cream both deal with overcoming or facing a death, the poems take contrasting views on how to see death. Death is subjective and the effects of it change depending on who has passed and who is experiencing the loss. Death can be portrayed in a positive and negative tone and in a reverent one as well. Thomas portrays death in the reverent tone. He is urging the dying to down in flames, to burn as bright as possible before he or she can no longer burn at all. In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows sports teams to plan for the gap between American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues. When the exchange rate is in favor of the Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams. This allows them to spend more on player salaries, possibly making their teams better without having to worry as much about revenue. For teams who are very successful in recent years, such as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less of an issue. Even though they chose to spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed so well that the fan loyalty and interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can also impact teams negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to Arizona because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver Canucks faced a similar problem in 2002. This deficit is found in children between the age 7 and 10. After, reviewed the case files from his prior records and notes from our sessions. People who use cocaine is 5 times more likely to suffer a drug related stroke. In my finding it was also relieved that after, using crack he goes into a stage of withdrawing. • 42. My Journey At Seattle Pacific University For the first eighteen years of my life I was raised in a conservative Southern Baptist church. During my journey at Seattle Pacific University, I have been attending different church traditions in order to find my own individual faith. One church that I have attended is Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church. Since the Orthodox practices seemed abundantly different from the services that I grew up with, I was hesitant but also excited and interested in their faith. Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church was established in 1999 and is located in Shoreline, Washington. Their mission statement is to be an extended village, welcoming and encouraging both adults and children to participate in the Orthodox Christian Faith, as we grow together, like the Holy Apostles, to know, love and serve Jesus Christ . The congregation invites any person that is interested in learning more about the Orthodox faith or is a member of the faith to join them in worship at their parish. As their website states, Everyone is welcome here whatever your story, your questions, whatever your ethnic background, whatever your doubts or struggles. Come as you are, because that s where God meets us . There are currently about 200 members that attend Holy Apostles. While the congregation is predominantly white, there is a wide range of ages from young children to older adults. I attended the Sunday morning Divine Liturgy with a group of friends. We were also invited to stay for their coffee hour and time of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Education is a key that allows people to move up in the world, seek better jobs, and succeed in life. Education is one factor that affects job positions people hold, advance in their further career, the income they make, and the title they hold. The more educated a person is, the more prestige and power that person holds. Education improves the quality of life, reduces ignorance, and exposes frontiers and opportunities not previously handled. The similarities include administering a nationwide exam given to all the students. All students are equally evaluated based on these scores. The test is used to determine which university students are able to attend. There are also significant differences between these exams. In America the exams are called the SAT or the ACT. In China it is named Gaokao. The Gaokao test is taken very seriously. This test is taken for multiple days. Parents rent hotel rooms nearby so their student can have a quiet lunch and take a nap. Some Chinese students go insane for this exam. They study for the Gaokao while hooked up to IV drips. The IV drips contain amino acids which would provide the students with extra energy (Kristof). This would definitely never be allowed in U.S. And lastly, merit pay is different in China than U.S. The Chinese believe in merit pay and in using student test scores for teacher evaluation. For example, when the 9th graders leave middle school they are tested to see which high school they are qualified to attend. Since the same teachers have had those students for three years, they compare their entry score to their exit score. The classes that showed the most academic gain resulted in that banzhuren receiving a bonus that might range from 3000 Yuan to 6000 Yuan (one month or two months pay). The same is true at the high school level. This is not the case in America. Teachers are evaluated through principals attending the classroom setting and/or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Importance of Eucharist Importance of the Eucharist Receiving the Eucharist is one of the most important things we can do as a catholic. Holy Communion is the most important of all the sacraments. It completes the Sacraments of Initiation. The bread and wine we receive at communion is the body and blood of Jesus. It becomes the bread and body of Jesus through Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation is the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Christ at consecration, only the appearances of bread and wine still remain. We participate in the sacrament of communion to commemorate all that Jesus did for us and getting nailed to a cross so we can be free from sin and have eternal life in heaven. The Lord gave us the sacrament of communion on Holy Thursday at the Last Supper. After first washing the feet of the disciples, he then did the breaking of the bread. Jesus said Take, eat, this is my body after Jesus said this he did the same for the wine saying Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins . This shows us how Jesus himself is the bread and wine us Catholics receive at Holy Communion. The sacrament of Communion is the only one of the seven sacraments that we are actually receiving Jesus directly, along with having a grace bestowed upon us. Receiving Holy Communion is very important. We should receive it as much as possible and be very excited to receive it. Before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Anorexia And Bulimia Nervosa Introduction In today s society, media is everywhere around us, and it can have a greater impact on us than we believe and/or like to admit. According to James G Webster, media can be defined as a way of communicating with the general public; newspapers, magazines, television, and billboards. Being exposed to mass media s glorification of slim and modified bodies can over time lead to a negative body image, and that possibly leading to extreme dieting and mental health problems, such as an eating disorder. Body image involves one s perception, imagination, emotions, and physical sensations of and about our bodies (Lightstone, 2012). Lightstone also argued that body image is not based on facts, but in our nature and influenced more by self esteem than by actual attractiveness judged by others. According to Lightstone, body image can change depending on mood, environment, and mental health. A dissatisfied body image can lead to dieting, and sometimes even eating disorders. The eating disorders that this essay will focus on are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. Managing Resistance to Organizational Change Essay In the course of considering and implementing change, the need frequently arises for effective application of the approaches and tools for managing resistance to change (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). Change often fails from ineffective management of the internal and external forces of resistance opposing change (Kotter Schlesinger, 2008; Oreg, 2003; Palmer et al., 2009). In response, this paper discusses the approaches (tools) deemed most essential for managing resistance to change relative to the scope of the situational contexts in which they might be applied. The discussion centers on considerations for the multidimensional conceptualizations of resistance that are often ignored in evaluating alternatives for taking action. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s disposition to resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from strong opposition to ambivalence to strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self efficacy, tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the multidimensional nature and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation theory (Meyer, Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004), which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci Ryan, 2008; Gagné Deci, 2005). This integrated theory characterizes varying levels and polarity of behavioral responses to change relative to affective, normative, or continuance forms of motivation and commitment. The variation in behavioral responses when plotted on continuums of intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, internal/external locus of causality, and prevention/promotion focused regulation reflects the degree to which basic psychological needs of autonomy, competency, and relatedness are realized during the change ... • 48. Molar Lab Experiment Formal Lab Report Molar Mass Determination by Freezing Point Depression By: Taylor Williams Lab Partner: Andrew Hall CHE 115 02 September 28, 2017 Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to learn concepts that explain the effect of solutes on the properties of liquids and to determine the molar mass of an unknown substance by using freezing points determined by a digital temperature probe. The molar mass of the unknown substance will be determined by measuring the freezing point of the lauric acid and lauric acid mixed with an unknown solute, then plugging those results into the freezing point depression equation (∆T = i*Kf*m). This equation will solve for the molality, number of moles, and the molecular weight of an unknown solute. The unknown substance will ultimately be determined based on matching the calculated molecular weight to the possible substance s molecular weights. The basic methods of this lab involves setting up a water bath, placing the lauric acid in a flask to melt, then observing the temperature until it maintains a steady state. Once the correct information is obtained, the freezing point depression equations can be used to determine the molecular weight of an unknown substance. According to the General Chemistry Laboratory II notebook, The freezing point of a solution relative to that of the pure solvent is influenced by the number of moles of solute present, and therefore is related to molar mass ( Department of Chemistry and ... Impact Of Stalinism Assess the impact of Stalinism on the Soviet State until 1941 1st paragraph Stalin, the cult of personality Stalin s cult of personality, derived through propaganda, censorship and education, was an essential element of Stalinism which had a significant impact on the society and culture of the Soviet State between until 1941. Stalin s 50th birthday on 21 December 1929 initiated the moment in Stalin s dictatorship in which the leader became an object of worship. Stalin s Five Year Plans included the embarkment of huge industrial projects and a campaign to collectivise agriculture. Almost all party members agreed that the Soviet State would require massive industrial growth to achieve a secure society. Collectivisation was to be undertaken to ensure food supplies to the cities and help mechanisation, increase output and reduce costs . The first of Stalin s Five Year Plans reflected Lenin s ideas of giving priority to industries such as hydro electric power, coal, iron, steel ships, railways, and machinery. However, this first plan failed due to falls in food and consumer goods output and the many unrealistic plan targets. The second of the Five Year Plans was scheduled to begin in October 1928 and focused on the production of consumer goods for the workers and peasants to increase their production, as well as development of heavy industry base for the military. • 50. Group Counseling Reflection I learned two significant things about group counseling in this course. The first thing that I learned is the importance of setting up a treatment plan. The intention is to follow the client from their entrance into the program until the client is discharged. In this process the clients problems are identified through various assessments and as each problem is addressed, it is checked off of the list. Once all of the problems are checked off of the list, the client is considered as having completed the plan. This plan is especially important because it evokes thoughtful conversation between the client and the counselor and is the best method to gain information from the client regarding the help they want to receive. The second most significant thing that I learned about group counseling is how to design a group from start to finish. From pre group design, planning the goals of the group and determining the members to setting up the environment and structuring the sessions, each step adds its own important components to designing group counseling. As a potential group leader I have learned a few things about myself in terms of my interactions with the clients. I am patient with my clients because I understand that it takes time for clients to build trust in the counselor and because it also takes time for a client to accept their situation allowing them to move toward positive change. I am a good listener because I realize that as a counselor, I have to allow my clients the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
