The African-American Community
One of the main issues that America has continued to ignore is the problems within the African
American community. Many children within the African American community fail to get the
necessary leadership from their respective parents. That lack of leadership generally occurs from the
absence pf a father figure in the household. Reason may be because of a father being imprisoned for
whatever reason, or the father being killed by law enforcement illegally. Thus, the more
impressionable minds within the community commit illegal activities to get recognition from their
peers. Indeed, these people should be punished for their acts by law enforcement. What the African
American community needs are not police enforcement in the citizens daily ... Show more content on

Self accountability consists of someone being willing to own responsibly or to account for their
actions in a responsible manner. Rather than owning up to the wrongdoing committed it is common
for those in the African American community to give up and only rely on drug abuse to get from day
to day. The rate of recurrent alcoholism among African Americans is 35.4 percent, versus 33 percent
among Hispanics and 22.8 percent among whites. (Sunrise House, Winter). A lot alike alcohol when
the African American user uses other drugs like, cocaine, crack, marijuana, and other drugs they are
also more likely to get addicted to that as well. As stated by, Gil Scott Heron, The revolution will not
go better with coke. The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath. The revolution
will put you in the driver s seat (The Revolution Will). The artist clearly is informing the listener of
the song to clearly not become a statistic by also intaking drugs, instead be different become the
change that is needed inside of the African American community. Staying drug and alcohol free only
can only keep a person at their respective levels of natural intelligence. Whereas constant drug use and
alcohol use can only lead to ones decline in

Personal Reflection Paper
My son, Ricky is now six years old and he has undergone many milestones and changes to be who he
is today. All throughout Ricky s life I have worked on his intelligence, morals, and social skills so he
can become a valuable member of society. In regards to Ricky s intelligence, I have worked on his
ability to read and his sleep habits which correlate with his intelligence. In regards to Ricky s morals, I
have stressed the value of honesty and treating others kindly. Lastly, Ricky is practicing sociodramatic
play and participating in recreational activities to gain social skills. When Ricky was born I vowed to
improve his intelligence. This is now increasingly important since Ricky is in school. I have been
advancing Ricky s intelligence through practicing private speech. Since kindergarten, Ricky has been
having difficulty with phonological awareness and reading. Even in the first grade, Ricky is unable to
read independently, however, his teacher is not concerned. I, on the contrary, am concerned, so I made
the choice for Ricky to receive tutoring twice a week. While receiving assistance in reading and
writing, I have emphasized to the tutor how I wish for them to praise and practice private speech with
Ricky. Private speech is when the child speaks to themselves when completing a task, reading a
passage, and more. Ricky can practice this tactic with his tutor through reading out loud, stating all the
steps necessary to complete the activity and more verbal actions. My choice for Ricky practicing
private speech is because Berk and Meyers state, Children who freely use private speech during a
challenging activity are more attentive and involved and show better task performance (323). Ricky s
increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow him to perform better, therefore improving his
reading skills. When I was around Ricky s age, I was diagnosed as dyslexic and I fear that he will have
this learning disability. I, too, was unable to read independently in the first grade, however, my choice
for Ricky to practice private speech will assist in his academic performance. However, I am
embracing the influence of nature for Ricky, because with early detection and actions plasticity,

George Hobbes And Thomas Hobbes
Corruption, false votes, unearned donated money; law breaking, lies, and hypocrisy are just some of
the few factors that can be caused by a person s human nature and therefore cause political instability.
Nicollò Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes, two philosophers from the sixteenth and seventeenth
century respectively, each have their own definitions of human nature and why human nature is
always going to be a conflict and therefore lead to political instability. Human nature is an important
concept to study when it comes to politics because if people know that there exists evil in man, such
as being selfish, we can learn how to control it in order to create political stability. Hobbes declares
that humans are selfish and only concerned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To become enemies is the conclusion Hobbes says, and then the men will fight and attempt to harm
one another. Hobbes addresses such times as war.
According to Hobbes, (Curley 2012, 76) Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of war, where
every man is enemy to every man, the same consequent to the time wherein men live without other
security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them withal. In such
condition there is no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no
culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea; no
commodious building; no instruments of moving and removing such things as require much force; no
knowledge of the face of the earth; no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is
worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty,
brutish, and short.
On the contrary, Machiavelli believes that man should look out for himself and no one else; he
believes that men are only concerned with their own self interest anyways. Human nature is a concept
that Machiavelli really mocks in a sense in that he sets guidelines in exactly what a prince needs to be
in order to be successful. He states that the prince should be the one and only sole authority, and he
must be trustworthy and cause fear in order to have

According to Tooling Event website computing everywhere was officially named by Garner and
others in 2015. Computing everywhere entails different technologies that would change people s
capability in technology. Computing everywhere states that these services are accessible in most of all
the devices. The Internet has increased in the past recent years, making the mobile and cloud platforms
accessible. The Internet of Things is related to the network of actual devices that are connected to the
internet such as electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity.
As technology progresses Forbes states that Garner has highlight 10 strategic technologies which
include smartphones that are becoming the target for businesses and the public environment. One of
the strategies trends that Forbes posted on his website is that The Internet of Things will be the focus
of digital business products and processes in industrial and operational contexts (Forbes, 2016). The
market has grown immensely and it will continue growing. The market will focus on industrial,
biomedical and consumer applications. All this company is focusing on lower budgets. As the
technology is growing, the intelligence and analytics have to be protected by security due to the risks
of computing. As the internet could be used everywhere the storage of devices will need more
bandwidth that could be costly. As Forbes states that Computing will have to move away from static

The Emotions And Perceptions Of Our Mind
When we consider the sensations and perceptions of our mind we find that there are a lot of
connections. The pathways that connect our eyes, our nose, and our ears to our brain are very
complicated. Therefor I have explained them to you in the following paragraphs. We then moved on to
advertisements and how they connect to our sensations.
The rods of the eye connect with the bipolar cells. The bipolar cells connect to the ganglion cells. The
ganglion cells connect to the optic nerve. the ganglion cell and the optic nerve together form the blind
spot. Then everything heads out to the optic chiasm and into the brain where it splits into two parts
and then reconnects at the back of the brain in the Occipital Lobe.
Sound can be found in waves. These waves travel from the outer ear to the eardrum. There are three
bones inside of the eardrum: the hammer, the anvil, and the stirrup. The sound waves then travel
through towards the inner ear. The stirrup is connected to the membrane known as the oval window.
The sound vibrations travel through the oval window to the structure called the cochlea. The cochlea
is divided by the basilar membrane. The organ of Corti can be found on top of the basilar membrane.
There are fibers located through the inner ear and when the sound vibrations enter the ear the fibers
begin to vibrate and send the signal to the auditory nerve. Thus producing sound that is interpreted in
the brain.
When we take breath through our nose we take in twelve million

African Americans Food
Africans found food in many ways. They hunted, fished, gathered, scavenged, herded, and farmed.
The types of foods early Africans consumed tended to vary by climate and area.
Early people were hunter gatherers. They ate large and small birds, fish, mice, grasshoppers, crabs,
snails, mollusks, fruit, nuts, wild cereals, vegetables, fungi, and other plants.
In the case of agriculture, the type of area and amount of rain determined the kinds of crops that grew
best.
People harvested forest snail. Bananas, fish, sheep, goats, chickens, cattle, yams, millet, sorghum, and
insect larvae were popular meal choices in the sub Saharan area.

Fairy Tales Morals
A story always has a meaning or lesson it teaches. Fairy tales are stories with the addition of a magical
element. They, too, have meanings the reader is supposed to take away. Authors purposefully fill their
tales with symbols and characters that are meant to represent something. The meanings could be
intending to teach societal values or rules. There are infinite interpretations one could potentially
perceive from a single story. Likewise, a study from Cedarville University states, the Bible is similar
to fairy tales in that one can take several meanings from the same passage and interpret it differently
depending on that individual s stage in life (Foulkrod). Fairy tales with authors that are notably
religious recognized the similarity between Bible teachings and fairy tales and often use religious
symbols and themes to compliment the overall moral the story is trying to portray. Many of these tales
also have meanings and moral takeaways that represent religious values. This can be seen in the works
of the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, as well as Carlo Collodi. Religion is very prominent
in the works of the Brothers Grimm. Their upbringing can be attributed to the Reformed Christian
elements they reference in their stories. Jacob Grimm notes his Reformed faith as one of his earliest
memories in his autobiography (Murphy 46), and Wilhelm openly talks about his memories from
church in his own autobiography as well (Murphy 50). G. Ronald Murphy, the author of

Summary Of Poem For Happiness
In life we assign meaning to everything. We construct ideals for ourselves, and then frequently fail to
uphold our own decrees. We lazily allow meanings to run together and they lose their value. We
become so focused on the ideal of something that we lose sight and understanding of the purposeful
and essential things going on around us each day. In Poem For Breakfast, written by Geoff Bouvier,
and The Art of Happiness, by Mary Ruefle; loss of meaning in everyday life is explored. Through
forms of repetition and concept connection, these authors build discursive and dramatic structures
which serve not only to organize their poems but also to question the way society lives in accordance
with the meanings it creates. In Poem For Breakfast, author Geoff Bouvier links each stanza together
with internal connectors, just as paragraphs in an argumentative essay are smoothly joined by
transitions. This form of connection allows him to continually question the meanings of words while
still moving forward logically and expanding his argument. In the first stanza Bouvier claims that
Everything is food, and then explains and refutes his own statement, immediately starting the process
of questioning meanings. The second stanza expands upon the first theme of food, beginning with the
claim: Food is also called fodder. Bouvier again immediately refutes his claim, remarking that calling
food fodder [is] like a misspelling where they let it keep the same meaning. While allowing a

With no disease or illnesses, humans can expand the length of life. Humans are beginning to live
longer and longer because of modern day medical science. With genetic engineering, it could make
our lives on earth even longer. If we want to find the genes that help us remain physically active as we
age, the genes that will allow us to play tennis when we re 70 similar to when we were 40, we have to
look beyond longevity as the sole criteria, notes Tissenbaum, a professor of molecular biology. If
scientist take genes that give us more physical activity when were young then when people become
older their live a more physical lifestyle. Many individuals have a disease that holds them back in life
from living a long life, but with the ability to genetically change that people would be able to live a
longer healthier life.
Genetic engineering is a very beneficial thing for every human. Some advantages involve individuals
health and affect society in general. The lifespan of a human is increased, the extinction of illness in
children and babies and healthier foods with a cheaper production cost are all rewarding devices of

Four Aspects Of The Four Elements Of Classical Conditioning
Classical Conditioning is the repeated use of stimuli in combination with a repeated significant
psychological event to train the one being conditioned to anticipate the event in response to the
stimuli. The most basic example of this type of conditioning is train an animal to expect treats by
making use of their sense of sound and blowing a whistle or ringing a bell just before you give them a
treat each time. This will train the animal to associate the sound of the whistle or bell with the
reception of the forthcoming treat, and it will begin to salivate in anticipation of getting the treat
whenever it hears the sound.
There are four elements of classical conditioning. These elements of classical conditioning include
unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response.
These four elements make up the classical conditioning procedure. An unconditioned stimulus in an
experiment is a stimulus that elicits a response from the subject of the experiment without any
previous conditioning. This can be anything that elicits an instinctual response that an organism might
have, such as the treat that the animal salivates over as described in the experiment in paragraph one.
An unconditioned response in any response regarding an unconditioned stimulus. In the case stated in
paragraph one, the unconditioned response would be the salivating of the animal in anticipation of the
treat. A conditioned stimulus is a stimulus that would have no

Gladwell, the caretaker from earlier, came up to my room announcing supper is ready . Still feeling a

Celebrates Ovid In The Legend Of Philomela
Dr. Jessica Edmondes
SEL 1023: Transformations
15 April 2016
How Geoffrey Chaucer Translates Ovid in The Legend of Philomela There have been many different
translations of Ovid s Metamorphoses over the years such as Ted Hughes Creation: Four Ages; Flood;
Lyacon, A.D. Melville s Tereus, Procne, Philomela, and Geoffrey Chaucer s The Legend of Philomela,
each being more different than the last. Geoffrey Chaucer s The Legend of Philomela translates Ovid
by shifting the perspective of the story from Tereus to Philomela while making her the protagonist.
Chaucer s translation gives the reader the idea that he is much more sympathetic towards women, is
writing for a much different audience at the time, and wants to make ... Show more content on

In Kline s version, there are many allusions to Greek gods and mythology such as Titan, the
Eumenides, the Furies, and the River Styx. It makes sense for Ovid to reference these ancient Greek
gods and mythological creatures because the audience he was writing to may have believed in Greek
mythology and its teachings when he wrote The Metamorphoses in 8 AD. However, in Chaucer s
work, a Christian God is mentioned several times as well as Greek gods and mythology, such as Juno
and Bacchus temple. Chaucer mentions God in his translation to appeal to the audience he was writing
to in the 14th century which was most likely a predominately Christian population but keeps some of
the original Greek mythological ties so the myth of Philomela still parallels Ovid s original

Who Is Andrew Jackson Responsible For The Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson Debate Response
Although there have been arguments made in support for Andrew Jackson, his decision to [pass the
Indian Removal Acts were completely unhumanitarian. Andrew Jackson has to be held responsible for
the thousands of unnecessary deaths he caused, and he has to be portrayed for the man he really was: a
corrupt leader that lead America into committing mass genocide against the indigenous people of
America. This should not be looked over due to the other achievements Andrew Jackson had
completed during his life. He committed mass genocide, he was a racist who was driven to kill and
enslave other living, breathing humans, and he killed thousands of Native Americans for land that
America had no need for. He needs to be held at fault for his actions, and they simply cannot be
accounted for as humanitarian. Despite Andrew Jackson not being able to predict the outcomes and
consequences of the Indian Removal Act, there is no justifying his actions. Andrew Jackson was the
man who openly gave approval to committing mass genocide for the Native Americans, forcibly
removed thousands of Native Americans from lands they had owned for thousands of years prior, and
approved and appointed the individuals in charge of starting the trail of tears. In February 1830, the
Indian Removal Act set in place that potentially allowed the president to grant land that was west of
the Mississippi river in exchange for Native American s land within existing state borders. In theory,
this plan would allow the native to earn money if they wished to move, and in return the Americans
could acquire more land. The outcome of this, however, was a bloody massacre. Many of the Native
Americans did not want to move, since they have been living there for thousands of years, longer than
the whites have been there. Since many of them did not want to move, the Americans used force in an
attempt to push the Native Americans west in a movement that killed over 4,000 natives. There is no
justifying what Andrew Jackson did in order to gain more unnecessary land. Throughout his life,
Andrew Jackson proved time and time again that he was, indeed, an extraordinarily racist man. As a
result, his actions against the Native Americans

The Pros And Cons Of Customer Satisfaction
Customers perceive service in terms of tone, but how satisfied they are with the overall experience, is
what defines their satisfaction. Whether the client is satisfied after purchase depends on the offer s
performance or the customer service in this case, in relation to the customer expectations. Yet,
according to Zeithaml et al (2006) although service quality and client satisfaction are used
interchangeably, there is indeed a distinction.
Customer Satisfaction is when the outcome of the service matches the expectations of the service. As
pointed out by Looy et al (2003), even though they differ one is a part of the other. Zeithaml et al

Robert Machumann Research Paper
Robert Schumann was a famous German composer in the Romantic era. When he was young, his
talents revealed from poetry to music. In 1830, he decided to be a musician, although he was learning
laws. Since he anxiously wanted to be successful in music, his hands got hurt. However, he still had
enthusiastic and sensitive depositions. Then he changed to be engaged in creating and commenting on
music. Later on, he married Clara Wieck and wrote over hundred outstanding music. Thus, Robert
Schumann s experiences had a huge impact on his music.
Robert Schumann was born in Zwickau, Germany, on June 8, 1810, at 10:30 p.m., who was also the
fifth and youngest child in the Schumann. His father, August Schumann, was an author of chivalric
romances and an indefatigable lexicographer. This evoked and cultivated Robert s capabilities of
music and literature. After he was about seven, he started piano classes with Gottfried Kuntsch at
Saint Mary s. About four years later, Schumann had performances in abendunterhaltungen (semi
private evening entertainments), which was organized by Kuntsh. This entertainment gave him
opportunities to spread his repertoires in Schumann s early compositional efforts (Daverio).
On March 29, 1828, Schumann went to the University of Leipzig and was studying law. Since his
mother, Johanna Christiana, worried about Schumann s future career and believed that being a lawyer
could have a safe and relaxing life instead of being a musician, she squelched Schumann to

Biography of Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz
Background Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz was born August 31, 1821 in Potsdam, Prussia to
the Potsdam Gymnasium instructor of philosophy and literature, August Ferdinand Julius Helmholtz
and Caroline Penn, descendent of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania (Cite brit). A product of
a rich, intellectual environment, Helmholtz grasped complex concepts in various academic subjects.
His father introduced him to philosophies that inspired him to broaden his mindset and explore
English, Science, and Mathematics, which led to an overwhelming interest in languages (including
English and Italian), music, nature philosophy, art and physiology. A student of the gymnasium,
Hermann von Helmholtz touched on subjects ranging from theoretical physics, to the age of the Earth,
to the origin of the solar system (cite wiki). He showed great promise as a scholar and was bound to be
a success.
After graduating in 1837, Helmholtz was awarded a free medical education at the Royal Friedrich
Wilhelm Medical Institute of Medicine and Surgery on the condition that he serve eight years in the
army as a doctor; he accepted the offer and enrolled at the institution in Berlin in 1838 (cite groups).
While there, he did research under the paramount German physiologist, perhaps the greatest known to

Bipolar Disorder, And Depression
Bipolar Disorder, Manic Depressive Disorder, and Depression When looking at the difference between
Bipolar Disorder, Manic Depressive Disorder, and Depression there are not many difference. One
could look at the symptoms and see that with each there is a risk of moving towards the next disorder.
An individual can be diagnosed with the lowest form of depression and if not taken care of can push
the individual to the extreme without ever really knowing. Knowing the symptoms of each disorder,
taking time to have tests run, having the diagnose given, and starting on the right track to controlling
the disorder can most likely save one s life in the grand scheme of like. When an individual thinks of

periods of depression typically last longer than periods of hypomania. The lowest level is Cyclothymic

With cyclothymic, hypomania and depression and be disruptive, but the highs and lows are not as they

the symptoms. Manic Depressive Disorder Symptoms. When one thinks of Manic Depressive

but remember what is said about making assumptions. Manic episodes can be mild or severe
depending on the extent of the mania for a person. A few of the symptoms are decreased need for
sleep (ex. One feels rested after only 2 3 hours), this is usually caused be from the mind not being able

It has sub contracted the product to get the volumes and is poised for a national launch. Adds Puri,
After all this was the first category anywhere in the world that Cadbury was entering andwe did not
have the expertise. So the best way was to test market the product and todaywe find that it has already
bagged five per cent of the chocolate market. The company has no apprehensions of cannibalization of
its chocolate brands. It believesthat while its chocolates are more of indulgence products, Bytes is
about snacking whenone is hungry and can be treated as a snack in between meals. The aim of this
project is to evaluate the marketing strategy of Cadbury s Dairy Milk. To do this, I will need to gather
information about the product; I will ask a questionnaire which is a primary research method. Then I
will also gain some secondary research, this will be achieved by searching the internet for information
and from a product information letter from Cadbury. I will investigate all aspects of Dairy milk s
marketing mix, these include: product, price, promotion and place. After I have investigated these
aspects I will analyse and evaluate my results from the Primary research. History of Dairy Milk and
Cadbury Cadbury s started as a one man business, opened in 1824 by a Quaker, John Cadbury, in Bull

Louisville Flood Victims By Margaret Bourke-White
Description:
Margaret Bourke White. Louisville Flood Victims. 1937. Photograph.
Analysis:
Margaret Bourke White utilizes the actual horizontal lines of the billboard, as well as the implied lines
of the people s heads. The repetition of the people along with the faces on the billboard, forcefully
move the attention horizontally to the right of the photograph. This, in turn, makes the viewer
anticipate what is coming next. Although we know that the people are in a state of motion, there is a
sense of stillness as if the moment will never end. At first glance, the balance appears to be somewhat
symmetrical, but looking further, one notices the small cluster of children in the bottom left corner,
casting the balance as asymmetrical. It also appears as if there is a downward slope going from the
furthermost right, to the furthermost left of the image. The colors seem varied and dark, contrasting
the coats of the individuals with the stark white bags, and the intrusive bright colors of the billboard,
this creates a contrast in the mood of the apparent glee of the billboard, with the traumatic expressions
of the individuals. Although black and white, the image uses a wide range of light and dark, going
from the bright white of the bags and billboard, to the deep darks of the coats and few of the glum
faces. In between these two extremes, there are varying shades of light and dark in the billboard and
surrounding scene. Finally, the emphasis is placed on the people, the victims of the Louisville flood. ...

Caroline Kennedy Outline
Caroline Kennedy, daughter of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, said of her mother, I think my mother
made it clear you have to live life by your own terms and you have to not worry about what other
people think and have the courage to do the unexpected (Caroline Kennedy quotes, page 1).
Jacqueline, known as Jackie, is one of the most well known women of the 1900 s. Showcasing her
strong will and grace from an early age, she inspired many people while serving as First Lady and
after. While Jackie Kennedy on the surface seemed to live a charmed life as a prominent, beautiful
woman, she endured the death of her son, the tragic death of her husband President John F. Kennedy,

in the writing profession, but as an editor, first at Viking Press, then at Doubleday. She often wrote the
introduction to the books she edited and worked to obtain and lay out illustrations. Jackie also led a
very successful public information campaign with the New York Municipal Arts Society to save New
York s Grand Central Station. She even went as far to go to Washington to urge Congress to pass
landmark legislation and she also lobbied legislators in Albany, New York, to prevent private
organizations from altering or destroying their property if it was deemed historical architecture. She
was very much involved in many organizations, such as the Literary Lions of the New York Public

was still very involved and helped many people. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis died May 19,1994, in

Meroitic Influence On Kush Culture
As a result of Kush being south of Egypt, the Kush culture was influenced through war and trade.
Through trades and wars with the Egyptians, the Kush culture s language, religion and architecture
was influenced by Egyptian culture.
The Kush language of Meroitic was influenced by the Egyptian hieroglyphics through trading along
the Nile. This influence was caused by trade because when the Egyptians and Kush traded, they had to
understand each other. Evidence of Kush language being influenced by hieroglyphics can be found in
the article, Kush in Ancient Nubia and Egypt , on paragraph four it says Though they adopted the
hieroglyphics of Egypt, they also began to develop their own writing, known as Meroitic. The religion

Schemas And Stereotypes
The way we process new information is, to a significant extent, determined by prior experience and
knowledge stored in our memory. These memories are organized by schemas. Schemas are cognitive
structures for organizing information about the world, events, people, and actions. Schemas are
needed help us save time and reduce our minds workloads when interpreting the ample amount of
information in the world. However, schemas may affect our memory and make us concentrate on
things that affirm our pre existing beliefs only. Schemas also affect stereotypes and make it difficult to
retain completely new information. In this experiment, the study done by Bransford and Johnson
(1972) will be replicated. Their participants heard a long speech, under

German Imperialism Essay
The Scramble for Africa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries encouraged many different nations to
become involved in colonialism. In this time period, competing European powers carved up the
continent of Africa between themselves, due to a variety of political and economic motives. Generally,
these powers benefited from these land acquisitions. However, Germany s neo imperialist experience
was unlike that of the other powers. Within the colony of Namibia, located in South West Africa, the
real advantages that Germany received were far outweighed by the disadvantages the German empire
faced. Although Germany received elevated political status from occupying colonies, the economic
and military efforts that were invested in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that there was support from Germans to colonise Africa not just for political gain, but for
economic interest as well. Germany was motivated into imperialism by economic opportunities, being
recognised as a political power with an increase of international status, and being able to exercise the
power and influence that would come with colonies.
Germany s imperialist experience in Namibia came with several advantages. These advantages were
of a political and economic nature. Benefits experienced included an increase of trade with other
powers, an increased amount of political influence, and the control over valuable resources in South
West Africa. Firstly, Namibia contained many valuable resources, which Germany had control over.
Resources in Namibia included diamonds, rubber plantations, copper, lead and gold (Unknown
Author, 2004). This stockpile of valuable resources meant that Germany could make massive profits if
the correct steps were taken. Out of all of these commodities, not only is diamond the most valuable,
but it was the most abundant in South West Africa. Access to these minerals greatly expanded
Germany s portfolio of tradable commodities. Secondly, Germany received large profits from trading
its colony s resources with other powers colonies. The direct trade between Germany and Britain
colonies in 1910 was nearly 630 000 British pounds. Over two thirds of this income was from South

Internet Predators
Why we should be worried about the Deep web
Unknown to most, the Deep Web actually exists and only takes a few clicks on your computer to
access it, if you know what you re doing. Also unknown to most is the illegal activity and the online
predators that are roaming all over the web. These predators can be financial predators or sexual
predators. Throughout this essay I will be explaining three themes in chronological order. Financial
predators, sexual predators, and discussing why the illegal activity on the Deep web is bad for society.
Financial predators are everywhere on the web, and they might cost you a fortune. Financial predators
host scams and use fake identities to get bank details to rip you off through an online purchase that
you think is safe. An example of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As thousands of sexual predators roam the web and on most commonly used sites, only 18% of youth
use chat rooms, however the majority of internet initiated sex crimes against children are initiated in
chat rooms. An example of a sexual predator could be an online predator targeting young victims
trying to get sexual related images from them by targeting young vulnerable people, unable to judge
the seriousness of the situation or through blackmail. This is what happened in the case of Scottish
teenager Daniel Perry earlier this year, resulting in his suicide. Sexual predators can also be connected
to the Deep web by exploiting nudity or sexual content of a child or young adult on a CP website,
which stands for child pornography. These can also be sold on the Deep web for an exchange of
bitcoin. These are just more examples of why we should be worried and most importantly informed of
how dangerous the Deep web is so we can avoid the bad situations we may come

The Infamous Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment Essay
In 1932, a study was conducted by the U.S. Public Heath Services to study the progression of
untreated syphilis. The study consisted of 600 African American men, 399 who had previous had
syphilis before the study began and 201 without the disease. Throughout the study many unethical
things happened and the subjects of the study were not given the full truth of what was happening and
what was going to happen. According to wikipedia, the Tuskegee Study was arguably the most
infamous biomedical research study in U.S. history. This study led to the establishment of the Office
for Human Research Protections and the tightening of laws for clinical research studies and their
participants. Prior to the study, through a letter of uninformed ... Show more content on

As a result, 28 men died directly due to syphilis, 100 men died due to complication, 40 of the mens
wives were infected, and 19 of their children had been born with genital syphilis. The study ended in
July of 1972 because of an article in the Associated Press, this story led to a public outcry and caused
Heath and Science Affairs to appoint someone to review the study. Throughout the reviewing of the
study they declared the study was unethical. (Unknown, http://www.cdc.gov) This study brought up a
lot of unethical controversy because the researchers knowingly didn t treat these patients, even after an
effective cure of penicillin was discovered. Not only did the researchers not treat these patients that
they had promised to treat, they also never told them what their actual disease was. They also never
informed these subjects that their disease was spreadable, therefore infecting and affecting more
people than the just the people who agreed to this treatment. The whole study was based on a lie from
the beginning and it was also at a time of the depression, leading these people to be at last resort and a
lack of money. At the time, there was a lot of racism and these African Americans believe that they
were being useful and wanted to help as much as they could, according to the lecture. These African
Americans were uneducated and may not have had a clear understanding of what was going on or
what they were reading and

My Original Definition Of Social Media Essay
1. My original definition for antisemitism was: antisemitism is the conscience or unconscious hatred
of a Jew or Jews, because of certain characteristics that the hater believes the Jew or all Jews possess
by being Jewish. However, one thing that my original definition does not hint towards the wide
spectrum of behaviors that are antisemitic. This is an advantage that your definition has. Your
definition mentions a spectrum form mildest expressions to exterminatory activities. Your definition
goes on to list different examples of antisemitic behavior. One category of behavior is not mentioned
though, and that is the use of social media to do such things as cyber bullying. We talked some during
the course about social media, especially at the end of the course when we discussed the six
parentheses symbol. Perhaps a better definition of antisemitism could come about by combining our
two definitions and making mention of social media. The new definition could be: antisemitism is
defined as the conscience or unconscious hatred of Jews or Judaism from its mildest expressions to
exterminatory activates. The activists include making jokes, cyberbullying, the destruction of religious
objects, defacing synagogues, and murdering Jewish people. This new definition considers actions
despite weather or not the hater is aware of them. For example, a person could have always been told
that Jews are greedy. This guy goes around telling jokes about Jews being greedy. He is engaging in

Many children within the African American community fail to get the necessary leadership from their respective parents. That lack of leadership generally occurs from the absence pf a father figure in the household. Reason may be because of a father being imprisoned for whatever reason, or the father being killed by law enforcement illegally. Thus, the more impressionable minds within the community commit illegal activities to get recognition from their peers. Indeed, these people should be punished for their acts by law enforcement. • 3. Personal Reflection Paper My son, Ricky is now six years old and he has undergone many milestones and changes to be who he is today. All throughout Ricky s life I have worked on his intelligence, morals, and social skills so he can become a valuable member of society. In regards to Ricky s intelligence, I have worked on his ability to read and his sleep habits which correlate with his intelligence. In regards to Ricky s morals, I have stressed the value of honesty and treating others kindly. Lastly, Ricky is practicing sociodramatic play and participating in recreational activities to gain social skills. When Ricky was born I vowed to improve his intelligence. This is now increasingly important since Ricky is in school. I have been advancing Ricky s intelligence through practicing private speech. Since kindergarten, Ricky has been having difficulty with phonological awareness and reading. Even in the first grade, Ricky is unable to read independently, however, his teacher is not concerned. I, on the contrary, am concerned, so I made the choice for Ricky to receive tutoring twice a week. While receiving assistance in reading and writing, I have emphasized to the tutor how I wish for them to praise and practice private speech with Ricky. Private speech is when the child speaks to themselves when completing a task, reading a passage, and more. Ricky can practice this tactic with his tutor through reading out loud, stating all the steps necessary to complete the activity and more verbal actions. My choice for Ricky practicing private speech is because Berk and Meyers state, Children who freely use private speech during a challenging activity are more attentive and involved and show better task performance (323). Ricky s increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow him to perform better, therefore improving his reading skills. When I was around Ricky s age, I was diagnosed as dyslexic and I fear that he will have this learning disability. I, too, was unable to read independently in the first grade, however, my choice for Ricky to practice private speech will assist in his academic performance. However, I am embracing the influence of nature for Ricky, because with early detection and actions plasticity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nicollò Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes, two philosophers from the sixteenth and seventeenth century respectively, each have their own definitions of human nature and why human nature is always going to be a conflict and therefore lead to political instability. In such condition there is no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea; no commodious building; no instruments of moving and removing such things as require much force; no knowledge of the face of the earth; no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. The pathways that connect our eyes, our nose, and our ears to our brain are very complicated. Therefor I have explained them to you in the following paragraphs. We then moved on to advertisements and how they connect to our sensations. The rods of the eye connect with the bipolar cells. The bipolar cells connect to the ganglion cells. The ganglion cells connect to the optic nerve. the ganglion cell and the optic nerve together form the blind spot. Then everything heads out to the optic chiasm and into the brain where it splits into two parts and then reconnects at the back of the brain in the Occipital Lobe. Sound can be found in waves. These waves travel from the outer ear to the eardrum. There are three bones inside of the eardrum: the hammer, the anvil, and the stirrup. The sound waves then travel through towards the inner ear. The stirrup is connected to the membrane known as the oval window. The sound vibrations travel through the oval window to the structure called the cochlea. The cochlea is divided by the basilar membrane. The organ of Corti can be found on top of the basilar membrane. There are fibers located through the inner ear and when the sound vibrations enter the ear the fibers begin to vibrate and send the signal to the auditory nerve. Thus producing sound that is interpreted in the brain. When we take breath through our nose we take in twelve million ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Fairy Tales Morals A story always has a meaning or lesson it teaches. Fairy tales are stories with the addition of a magical element. They, too, have meanings the reader is supposed to take away. Authors purposefully fill their tales with symbols and characters that are meant to represent something. The meanings could be intending to teach societal values or rules. There are infinite interpretations one could potentially perceive from a single story. Likewise, a study from Cedarville University states, the Bible is similar to fairy tales in that one can take several meanings from the same passage and interpret it differently depending on that individual s stage in life (Foulkrod). Fairy tales with authors that are notably religious recognized the similarity between Bible teachings and fairy tales and often use religious symbols and themes to compliment the overall moral the story is trying to portray. Many of these tales also have meanings and moral takeaways that represent religious values. This can be seen in the works of the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, as well as Carlo Collodi. Religion is very prominent in the works of the Brothers Grimm. Their upbringing can be attributed to the Reformed Christian elements they reference in their stories. Jacob Grimm notes his Reformed faith as one of his earliest memories in his autobiography (Murphy 46), and Wilhelm openly talks about his memories from church in his own autobiography as well (Murphy 50). • 11. Summary Of Poem For Happiness In life we assign meaning to everything. We construct ideals for ourselves, and then frequently fail to uphold our own decrees. We lazily allow meanings to run together and they lose their value. We become so focused on the ideal of something that we lose sight and understanding of the purposeful and essential things going on around us each day. In Poem For Breakfast, written by Geoff Bouvier, and The Art of Happiness, by Mary Ruefle; loss of meaning in everyday life is explored. Through forms of repetition and concept connection, these authors build discursive and dramatic structures which serve not only to organize their poems but also to question the way society lives in accordance with the meanings it creates. In Poem For Breakfast, author Geoff Bouvier links each stanza together with internal connectors, just as paragraphs in an argumentative essay are smoothly joined by transitions. This form of connection allows him to continually question the meanings of words while still moving forward logically and expanding his argument. In the first stanza Bouvier claims that Everything is food, and then explains and refutes his own statement, immediately starting the process of questioning meanings. The second stanza expands upon the first theme of food, beginning with the claim: Food is also called fodder. Bouvier again immediately refutes his claim, remarking that calling food fodder [is] like a misspelling where they let it keep the same meaning. While allowing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Four Aspects Of The Four Elements Of Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning is the repeated use of stimuli in combination with a repeated significant psychological event to train the one being conditioned to anticipate the event in response to the stimuli. The most basic example of this type of conditioning is train an animal to expect treats by making use of their sense of sound and blowing a whistle or ringing a bell just before you give them a treat each time. This will train the animal to associate the sound of the whistle or bell with the reception of the forthcoming treat, and it will begin to salivate in anticipation of getting the treat whenever it hears the sound. There are four elements of classical conditioning. These elements of classical conditioning include unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response. These four elements make up the classical conditioning procedure. An unconditioned stimulus in an experiment is a stimulus that elicits a response from the subject of the experiment without any previous conditioning. This can be anything that elicits an instinctual response that an organism might have, such as the treat that the animal salivates over as described in the experiment in paragraph one. An unconditioned response in any response regarding an unconditioned stimulus. • 17. Who Is Andrew Jackson Responsible For The Indian Removal Act Andrew Jackson Debate Response Although there have been arguments made in support for Andrew Jackson, his decision to [pass the Indian Removal Acts were completely unhumanitarian. Andrew Jackson has to be held responsible for the thousands of unnecessary deaths he caused, and he has to be portrayed for the man he really was: a corrupt leader that lead America into committing mass genocide against the indigenous people of America. This should not be looked over due to the other achievements Andrew Jackson had completed during his life. He committed mass genocide, he was a racist who was driven to kill and enslave other living, breathing humans, and he killed thousands of Native Americans for land that America had no need for. He needs to be held at fault for his actions, and they simply cannot be accounted for as humanitarian. Despite Andrew Jackson not being able to predict the outcomes and consequences of the Indian Removal Act, there is no justifying his actions. Andrew Jackson was the man who openly gave approval to committing mass genocide for the Native Americans, forcibly removed thousands of Native Americans from lands they had owned for thousands of years prior, and approved and appointed the individuals in charge of starting the trail of tears. In February 1830, the Indian Removal Act set in place that potentially allowed the president to grant land that was west of the Mississippi river in exchange for Native American s land within existing state borders. In theory, this plan would allow the native to earn money if they wished to move, and in return the Americans could acquire more land. The outcome of this, however, was a bloody massacre. Many of the Native Americans did not want to move, since they have been living there for thousands of years, longer than the whites have been there. Since many of them did not want to move, the Americans used force in an attempt to push the Native Americans west in a movement that killed over 4,000 natives. There is no justifying what Andrew Jackson did in order to gain more unnecessary land. Throughout his life, Andrew Jackson proved time and time again that he was, indeed, an extraordinarily racist man. As a result, his actions against the Native Americans ... • 25. Louisville Flood Victims By Margaret Bourke-White Description: Margaret Bourke White. Louisville Flood Victims. 1937. Photograph. Analysis: Margaret Bourke White utilizes the actual horizontal lines of the billboard, as well as the implied lines of the people s heads. The repetition of the people along with the faces on the billboard, forcefully move the attention horizontally to the right of the photograph. This, in turn, makes the viewer anticipate what is coming next. Although we know that the people are in a state of motion, there is a sense of stillness as if the moment will never end. At first glance, the balance appears to be somewhat symmetrical, but looking further, one notices the small cluster of children in the bottom left corner, casting the balance as asymmetrical. It also appears as if there is a downward slope going from the furthermost right, to the furthermost left of the image. The colors seem varied and dark, contrasting the coats of the individuals with the stark white bags, and the intrusive bright colors of the billboard, this creates a contrast in the mood of the apparent glee of the billboard, with the traumatic expressions of the individuals. Although black and white, the image uses a wide range of light and dark, going from the bright white of the bags and billboard, to the deep darks of the coats and few of the glum faces. In between these two extremes, there are varying shades of light and dark in the billboard and surrounding scene. Finally, the emphasis is placed on the people, the victims of the Louisville flood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this time period, competing European powers carved up the continent of Africa between themselves, due to a variety of political and economic motives. Generally, these powers benefited from these land acquisitions. However, Germany s neo imperialist experience was unlike that of the other powers. Within the colony of Namibia, located in South West Africa, the real advantages that Germany received were far outweighed by the disadvantages the German empire faced. This shows that there was support from Germans to colonise Africa not just for political gain, but for economic interest as well. Germany was motivated into imperialism by economic opportunities, being recognised as a political power with an increase of international status, and being able to exercise the power and influence that would come with colonies. Germany s imperialist experience in Namibia came with several advantages. These advantages were of a political and economic nature. Benefits experienced included an increase of trade with other powers, an increased amount of political influence, and the control over valuable resources in South West Africa. Firstly, Namibia contained many valuable resources, which Germany had control over. Resources in Namibia included diamonds, rubber plantations, copper, lead and gold (Unknown Author, 2004). This stockpile of valuable resources meant that Germany could make massive profits if the correct steps were taken. Out of all of these commodities, not only is diamond the most valuable, but it was the most abundant in South West Africa. Access to these minerals greatly expanded Germany s portfolio of tradable commodities. Secondly, Germany received large profits from trading its colony s resources with other powers colonies. The direct trade between Germany and Britain colonies in 1910 was nearly 630 000 British pounds. Over two thirds of this income was from South West ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Internet Predators Why we should be worried about the Deep web Unknown to most, the Deep Web actually exists and only takes a few clicks on your computer to access it, if you know what you re doing. Also unknown to most is the illegal activity and the online predators that are roaming all over the web. These predators can be financial predators or sexual predators. Throughout this essay I will be explaining three themes in chronological order. Financial predators, sexual predators, and discussing why the illegal activity on the Deep web is bad for society. Financial predators are everywhere on the web, and they might cost you a fortune. Financial predators host scams and use fake identities to get bank details to rip you off through an online purchase that you think is safe. An example of a ... An example of a sexual predator could be an online predator targeting young victims trying to get sexual related images from them by targeting young vulnerable people, unable to judge the seriousness of the situation or through blackmail. This is what happened in the case of Scottish teenager Daniel Perry earlier this year, resulting in his suicide. Sexual predators can also be connected to the Deep web by exploiting nudity or sexual content of a child or young adult on a CP website, which stands for child pornography. These can also be sold on the Deep web for an exchange of bitcoin. These are just more examples of why we should be worried and most importantly informed of how dangerous the Deep web is so we can avoid the bad situations we may come ... • 33. My Original Definition Of Social Media Essay 1. My original definition for antisemitism was: antisemitism is the conscience or unconscious hatred of a Jew or Jews, because of certain characteristics that the hater believes the Jew or all Jews possess by being Jewish. However, one thing that my original definition does not hint towards the wide spectrum of behaviors that are antisemitic. This is an advantage that your definition has. Your definition mentions a spectrum form mildest expressions to exterminatory activities. Your definition goes on to list different examples of antisemitic behavior. One category of behavior is not mentioned though, and that is the use of social media to do such things as cyber bullying. We talked some during the course about social media, especially at the end of the course when we discussed the six parentheses symbol. Perhaps a better definition of antisemitism could come about by combining our two definitions and making mention of social media. The new definition could be: antisemitism is defined as the conscience or unconscious hatred of Jews or Judaism from its mildest expressions to exterminatory activates. The activists include making jokes, cyberbullying, the destruction of religious objects, defacing synagogues, and murdering Jewish people. This new definition considers actions despite weather or not the hater is aware of them. For example, a person could have always been told that Jews are greedy. This guy goes around telling jokes about Jews being greedy. He is engaging in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
