Comparing Dorian Gray And Frankenstein
The Picture of Dorian Gray and Frankenstein connect the ideas of man and monster through
representation of characters who influence a monster and characters who are the physical distorted
monster. Both Dorian Gray and the creation are the physical monsters that are involved with
murder and sin. These are the ones hated by other characters in their respected stories. Lord Henry
and Victor Frankensteinare the characters who create the monsters. While Lord Henry does it from
a psychological standpoint whereas Victor did it from a physical standpoint in physically creating a
monster. Overall these four characters all show monstrous traits which in turn creates the idea that
man can be monster in the case of Victor, Lord Henry, and Dorian,... Show more content on

That is until Mary Shelley switches the attention to the monster when he narrates the events of
his life. Readers are supposed to believe that Victor s creation is the true monster, but once the
creation gives his life story Shelley has her readers turn on Victor victimizing him as the true
monster in the novel. The true monster is described to be the one that causes harm to humanity
by lying and selfishness.Victor carries both of these traits once the monster is created. He lies
to protect himself I well knew that if any other had communicated such a relation to me, I should
have looked upon it as the ravings of insanity . . . These reflections determined me, and I
resolved to remain silent. (Shelley 79). The decision to keep the true information of what had
happened to his brother William resulted in the death of Justine which makes Victor a cause for
her death. This idea is a very selfish act in order to protect himself from being viewed insane by
his peers if he was to tell the whole story. Victor abandons his creation which turns out to be the
worst possible thing he could have done. Victor allows the monster to roam the lands where
humans preside when abandoning him which allows his creation to learn why he was created and
what he was. He inflicts harm and death on Victor s loved ones because of his evil acts in creating
the monster as well as

The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development
Introduction
Over the years the long term effects of preschool childcare has been a topic of growing interest.
The use of these programs have grown dramatically over the years, and more than half of all three
to five year olds in the United States attend childcare centers prior to kindergarten (Peisner
Feinberg et al., 2001). Many questions have risen overtime on the quality of childcare centers, and
the research on these issues has been extremely inadequate. Do these early childcare centers have a
long term impact on a child s social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What seemed to have sparked interest in this topic were the inconsistent findings on the issue of
social outcomes. Although it has been found that children who attended childcare programs
appeared to be more socially competent than home reared peers, displays of aggression and
resistance to adult requests were also described among childcare children (Haskins et al., 1985,
as cited in Phillips et al., 1987). Phillips, McCartney and Scarr (1987) believed that these
contradictory findings differed due to the quality of the childcare programs. Because a high
percentage of children were spending majority of their time in a childcare setting, and with those
programs ranging in quality, Bermuda was chosen as the site to further this research (Phillips,
McCartney, Scarr, 1987). Nine childcare centers that accepted children from infancy through
preschool agreed to participate in the study. These centers were chosen in respect to the diversity
of the children s family backgrounds and director s experiences in childcare (Phillips, McCartney,
Scarr, 1987). A total of 166 families participated in the study, with criteria being that the childmust
be three years or older, and attending one of the target centers for six months or longer. Of the 166
children, 130 were African American and 36 were Caucasian. Nineteen months was the

Voting Is a Right for Americans Essays
The United States of America, almost since its conception, demonstrated a shining example of what
a successful democracy should be. As citizens of a democratic country, we have the privilege to
choose our leaders and the opportunity to have our voices heard. Many countries around the world
operate by dictatorship or royal lineage. In these countries, citizens are not granted the freedom to
elect officials. Often times, these people face grave consequences if they speak out against their
leaders resulting in arrests or other penalties. You would assume, with this knowledge, that
Americans hold the highest voter participation. In a study from the 2012 Presidential Electionby
ABC, the number of American citizens actively involved in... Show more content on

So, when I cast my ballot to vote, I do so in honor of those who sacrificed and worked tirelessly to
guarantee my right as an African American and as a woman. My first official votingexperience took
place during the Houston Mayoral Election of 2009. Unlike other voters young and older I
developed a strong sense with whom and what I was voting for. Mayor Bill White proudly served
the city of Houston for three terms and was tough to replace. I did my research on the candidates
propositions and paid close attention to their campaign efforts. My parents are strong advocates
about the importance of voting. They always lectured my siblings and me about how citizens
determined who got into office and how they represented the community. You had a problem, voice
your concerns with your ballot, my mom would always say. My father would often exclaim, Don t
gripe and not vote. No vote...no room for complaints.
Going off to an out of state college, I did not foresee problems faced with voting. Registration
methods vary from state to state. Across the country, college students face barriers with exercising
their voting rights. In some areas, communities debate whether students can vote as state residents
or vote absentee from their hometowns. In other areas, legislators debate whether student IDs can
be used at polls. When I participated in the 2009 Houston Mayoral Election, I

Freedom of Speech in Cyberspace Essay
Freedom of Speech in Cyberspace
Introduction As the Internet has become more widely recognized and used by people all over the
world, it has brought a new medium in which information can very easily be broadcast to everyone
with access to it. In 1995 there was a projected 26 million Internet users, which has grown to almost
300 million today. One major problem with this is that everyone represents different countries and
provinces which have different outtakes on certain types of freedom of speech as well as different
laws about it. This proposes a new type of law that would need to be written in order to determine
whether or not something is illegal on the Internet. A person in one country can express what they
want to, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The panel was headed by Vint Cerf, one of the godfathers of TCP/IP, on what could be done
about the situation. What was found was the through the looking at the keywords used in the
search and the monitoring of what ISP s were being used in order to reach the site, that Yahoo!
could effectively block 90 percent of French visitors. In light of this finding, the judge mandated
that Yahoo! would have ninety days to complete the task and that if it was not completed, then a
$13,000 a day fine would be imposed. Is this court order a fair one though? Many would argue
that a company that has no assets in the country of France would not have to follow its ruling.
But since there is a www.yahoo.fr and the US Company Yahoo! has now entered a partnership
with French company Minitel to provide online services such as e mail, it definitely proves that
Yahoo! wants to also operate in France. So what is Yahoo! to do? The easy solution would be to
follow the judge s orders, but what really happened in the end? Yahoo! blocked the offending
material on its French site and put up warnings on its US site that told the visitor that they would
be breaking French law by viewing the webpage. Because the webpage is being served within the
US borders, Yahoo! is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, which bears the
right to freedom of speech.

A Short Note On The Air Leak Syndrome
Introduction
Air Leak Syndrome is a term used to describe a collection of similar pathologies related to air being
in pulmonary, pleural and interstitial spaces. The most common cause of air leak syndrome in
neonates is inadequate mechanical ventilation of their delicate lungs. The incidence of air leaks in
newborns is inversely related to the birth weight of the infants, especially in infants suffering from
respiratory distress syndrome and meconium aspiration (Walsh, 2015). Chest tube drainage and/or
needle aspiration are necessary in managing pneumopericardium with cardiac tamponade or tension
pneumothorax.
To prevent air leak syndrome, gentle ventilation with low pressure, low tidal volume, low
inspiratory time, high rate, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For pneumothorax, the incidence from 1990 2002 was 13% in babies weighing 1000 grams are
at high risk the first day or two after birth. Babies with pulmonary hypoplasia, meconium
aspiration syndrome, and respiratory distress syndrome are also at higher risk. Use of NIV/CPAP
also increases the risk. An article in the Pediatrics journal cited three cases where children of
various ages developed various air leaks from the use of high flow nasal cannula (HHNC) therapy.
The author cited the urgent need to conduct more studies on HHNC and that it should not be used
for providing positive distending pressure. Set flows should not exceed the patient s minute
ventilation (Hegde, 2013).
Prevention
Sadly, it should be understood that most of pulmonary air leaks are iatrogenic. Healthcare workers
should not be overly aggressive when doing CPR and using the bag mask. Infants lungs are fragile
and cannot handle being over ventilated. When using mechanical ventilation, use low pressures low
tidal volumes and high respiratory rates. Risk of pneumothorax and pulmonary interstitial
emphysema can be reduced by using surfactant.
Pathophysiology
Air leaks are a result of overdistention of the lungs and can cause uneven alveolar ventilation and air
trapping. Increased pressures can rupture alveoli or other tissues, allowing air to escape into the
interstitial spaces. This air can then travel through perivascular adventitia, causing pulmonary
interstitial emphysema. If the air

Literary Review of Sexuality and Gender in Science Fiction...
Literary Review
My argument is that SF literature offers a utopian hope for the future where individual differences
are no longer criticized. To conduct this literature review I used multiple information sources to
examine issues of gender and sexuality within science fiction literature. None of these sources
claim to have produced a conclusive work on the interpretation of gender and sexuality in SF. Some
of what I have read seems to be a general overview while some is more focused, but everything
clearly references other theorists, studies and texts to back up the arguments made.

In other words feminist SF is an effective and powerful means for feminist visionary
developments that are crucial for the initial attempts to embark on the cultural and social changes
that are the goals for the feminist political enterprise. Hollinger discusses Le Guin s view that
feminist SF doesn t prophecy the future but it refers to the world as it is. This is interesting
because it emphasises this idea that the SF can explore such issues of gender and sexuality in reality.
Hollinger references works such as The Female Man, Bloodchild , The Left Hand of Darkness and
Women on the Edge of Time together with people like Donna Harraway, Teresa de Lauretis and
Judith Butler. In addition to the well known feminist utopian works of the 70 s Hollinger also
mentions Helen O Loy, which is an early masculine focused novel. We see the importance of
feminist SF when we read about works such as this, because the contrast shows that some SF
writers obviously didn t identify the historical possibility and cultural traditionalism of our notions
regarding gender and sexual identity and the roles of men and women. Hollinger brings together
plenty of evidence to back up her points about feminist theory and SF making for a comprehensive
essay.

Hans Albert Einstein And The Life Of Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was born to secular Jewish family in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879. Einstein is
best known for the development of the theory of relativity, a major structure of physics. However,
before he became this revered figure in science, Einstein worked at a patent office in Bern,
Switzerland where he developed his first scientific theories. Much of his work at the patent office
presented questions about transmission of electric signals and electrical mechanical
synchronization of time, two technical problems that eventually led Einstein to his revolutionary
conclusions about the nature of light and the fundamental connection between space and time.
While attending college at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic, Einstein met Mileva Maric, with whom
he developed a close relationship with. In January 1903, Einstein married Maric, and they later had
two children. The first son, Hans Albert Einstein, born in Bern, Switzerland, and the second,
Eduard Einstein, born in Zurich July 1910. Einstein and Mileva are believed to have had their
first child in 1902, a daughter they named Lieserl, who is believed to have either been given up
for adoption or died of scarlet fever. Hans later went on to become a professor of Hydraulic
Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and received honorable recognition for his
research regarding sediment transport. Eduard studied medicine in hopes of becoming a
psychiatrist, but unfortunately suffered a breakdown, which led to the

Examples for that are customizing products or services they need. Customers interact with the
market in a critical way in order to optimize it in an economic functional and also cultural way.
Generally, consumers engage in different activities that boost the market value of any company s
offer on the market. There are different types of activities: positive (co creation), critical
(resistance), intangible (appropriation) and tangible (product information). The second
characteristic is that consumers interact with each other and even company staff while producing
value. Associations of individuals who work together create innovations and provide cultural and
social capital (ibid.). The process of cultural value creation and consumer agency is based on
social interaction and even companies sometimes participate in this process as partners (Cova,
Dalli, 2009: 325). Direct interaction is possible between consumers and also companies due to new
technologies. The third factor that describes consumer productive activity is that consumers seek
personal purposes, such as pleasure, satisfaction, commitment and others. According to Walker
(2008), the wish of consumers to cooperate with a company or brand is a reaction of helpless,
disconnected and uncounted feelings. Consumers work for the purpose of feeling gratified,
satisfied and at times socially recognized (Cova, Dalli, 2009). The fourth characteristic is that

Cyber criminals take full advantage of the anonymity and secrecy provided by The Onion Router

The Benefits Of International Adoption
International adoption can be such a rewarding journey for many parents, but that does not mean
that journey is always easy. Adopting children from foreign countries is a process that has lots of
tight rules and regulations. Many families who have the desire to adopt internationally are
sometimes negatively affected by such strict requirements, which alter their chances to adopt. There
are many reasons that international adoptionis such a hard process and some are not even the
adoption that causes setbacks. Some countries like Ethiopia face setbacks due to fraud and
corruption.
Other reasons as to why adoption is so difficult is the Hague and Non Hague adoption processes. In
the article Baby Blues: Why the International Adoption Process Needs an Overhaul the Alexa Clark
writes, The Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption created laws that called for oversight from
a centralized body and mandate that states thoroughly search for domestic adopters before resorting
to adoption abroad (Clark). It was intended to prevent corruption and make adoptions more
transparent, but implementing its rules has led to slowdowns or shutdowns in some countries. The
Non Hague approach is for countries who did not want to implement the Hague rules and for those
countries prospective adopting parents would just follow those countries specific rules. The
problem with both of these approaches is the idea that if so many countries have different rules and
requirements, it does not make the

Project Earnings Manipulation: An Ethics Case Based on Agency Theory
ABSTRACT: The impact of accounting information on ethical behavior has been extensively
documented. Additionally, agency theory is a widely accepted behavioral perspective. Despite this,
there is an absence of instructional material in the accounting education literature that ties ethical
issues to an agency theory context. The primary objective of this case is to highlight control system
ethical issues using an agency theory context. Students explore their own reactions to a prohibited
but unmonitored cost allocation action. Thus, this case is positioned to fill this void in any
accounting course that covers agency theory or management control systems.

Each project was unique, depending on specific water conditions as well as local environmental,
sociopolitical, and economic issues. Too frequently for the Group Vice President (VP), the unique
nature of each project had led to cost overruns, sometimes causing significant project losses. Senior
management looked very unfavorably on these substantial losses. Worse yet, the Group VP was
often surprised about these cost overruns, because the company had a very poor costinformation
system. Costs were only accumulated at the completion of construction, and only then did these
overruns get reported. To make matters worse, little detail was provided that could identify these
cost overruns in the cost reports. An expensive and lengthy search was required to obtain
information on which part(s) of the project has cost overruns. In short, top management had very
little information and was poorly informed about the operation of the Membrane group.
Consequently, the Group VP was reluctant to waste time on what was already water under the
bridge, believing his time was better spent on current projects and preventing future overruns. Much
discussion had taken place about how to avoid these surprises, and, as a consequence, systems
analysts were scheduled to implement a better cost tracking system. The new system could not be

The main limitation of this experimental study was that this study was not real, as well as no

there any emotions being presented. The emotions would be high in the court room and the jury

The National Cemetery Administration ( Nca )
Throughout history, many monumental events led to the development of the National Cemetery
Administration (NCA). Ricketts (2014) notes that the mission of the NCA is to provide Veterans
with an honorary burial space in national cemeteries. They place a heavy significance on paying
tribute to the Veteran s services and sacrifices. In order to better understand the efforts carried out
by the NCA, it is beneficial to review its history and development. According to the U.S.
Department of Veteran Affairs ( History and development of the national cemeteryadministration ,
2015), the origin of National cemeteries began during the Civil War. Prior to the establishment of
such places, fallen soldiers were often buried on battlefields, nearby campsites, or taken to the
families chosen cemetery. However as the war progressed, the chaos and limited land titles led to
quick and inadequate burials. Neither the Union nor the Confederacy were equipped with the
awareness and resources to properly bury their soldiers . In 1861, Congress provided the Union
with benefits by appointing the Army s Quartermaster General as a conductor of burial
responsibilities. This order worked to ensure that there would be a record of all burials. It also
stated that a graveshould be marked with the placement of a wooden headboard. Although these
painted headboards resembled a memorial of the fallen soldier, they quickly succumbed to
environmental elements ( History and development of the

Listening During A Rehearsal And Performance
Listening during a rehearsal to detect errors and interpret musical details is an essential skill
when teaching instrumental music. Conductors must correct note and rhythmic errors while also
making artistic decisions about dynamics, style, articulations, and other musical elements.
Teaching students to create characteristic tone quality, balance, and blend adds to the complexity
of these musical elements. Score study is one way directors establish an internal aural image,
later attempting to recreate this picture in rehearsal and performance. Ideally, score study helps
create a mental sound image or musical landscape (Battisti Garofalo 1990, p. 3). Directors may
often find that teaching students to evaluate mistakes and self correct is a difficult task. One of
the goals of an effective rehearsal is error detection and correction. Many studies have researched
the characteristics of teachers effective in this area of practice (Brand Burnsed, 1981; Cavitt,
2003; Crowe, 1996; Forsythe Woods, 1983; Waggoner, 2011). In a descriptive study, Cavitt
(2003) found several traits that were common among educators with strong error detection skills.
These included (a) persistence in correcting the problem, (b) repetition, (c) brief talking and
modeling, (d) modeling occurred frequently, (e) high rates of specific feedback, (f) identifying the
problem before rehearsal, and (g) error practiced in a variety of contexts. Directors who have the

The Depth Psychology Of Evil, And The Nature Of God
Corbett s parallel to his former religion continues in his chapter on the depth psychology of evil,
and the nature of God. In this section, he moves into theodicy, the attempt to justify God in the
face of evil (p.129). As Corbett explains, God image within the Western monotheistic philosophy is
one that is both all good and all powerful, but that the presence of evil in our world creates a
paradox of these two natures. The tried arguments is that either Godis all powerful, but in allowing
and/or creating evil means that he is not all good, or that he is all good, but inability to stop evil
means that he is not all powerful. This point creates a paradox of the Christian God, making him
impossible in the mind of modern person. Nevertheless, in his true fashion, Corbett moves away
from Christian ideology, but not away from the essence of it entirely. Instead, he proposes instead
a different nature of God. That is, a God of dual natures: abstract and concrete. In God s abstract
nature, he is timeless and perfect, while in his concrete nature, he is not all powerful, not
changeless, and not all knowing, and not the ultimate source in the universe (p.131). But, he is still
loving. The implications therefore are that using force is outside of his loving nature, so God
cannot stop evil, and that because god is within us all, he suffers with us. Corbett s argument makes
God compatible with actually sound belief in the nature of evil. Careful not to belittle the very real

We Were Liars Analysis
Summer Reading Essay I remember only this: I plunged down into this ocean, down to rocky
rocky bottom, and I could see the base of Beechwood Island and my arms and legs felt numb but
my fingers were cold. Slices of seaweed went past as I fell. That is a quote that describes how
the conflict was made in the book that I read this summer We Were Liars By E. Lockhart. This
book was about a girl, Cadence Sinclair. The entire Sinclair Family always goes away to a
private island off of Massachusetts every summer. Her and Johnny, Mirren and Gat made up a
group called the Liars. Johnny and Mirren are her cousins and Gat is her friend that comes with
Johnny every year. One day in summer 15, Cadence could not find any of the Liars to play with,...

She recalled swimming on the tiny beach alone, diving into the ocean and other bits and pieces,
but most of it remains a blur. Her mother and her aunts took her to the hospital nearby and the
doctors figured out that she is suffering through hypothermia, respiratory problems, amnesia, and
traumatic brain injury. Sadly, since Cadence had all of those problems with her health she
underwent vomiting, horror, migraines, blackouts, weight loss, terrible doctor visits and much more,
but that wasn t even the worst part. All Cadence wanted to know was what happened. She
wanted her mom to tell her memories of the summers before. Her mother tried, but it didn t work
that well so she gave up. Also the doctors said that it would be better if she could recall on the
memories by herself so that just gave her mom another reason to stop trying. You began asking
me the day you woke up in the hospital. What happened? What happened? I told you the truth
Cadence, I always did, and you d repeat it back to me. But the next day you would ask again.
That quote shows that even if her mother tried as hard as she could Cadence just couldn t
remember. Her mother wouldn t allow her go to Beechwood Island (the private island) until
summer 17. Anyways, Cadence finally got to go back to Beechwood to see the Liars and her
family. While she was there it was different; the aunts told the cousins to be nice to her and no one
could act normal around her.

Elizabeth I s Reforms
The English Reformation of the sixteenth century was one of the most drastic religious reforms in
England. During this time, the Tudor Dynasty swept England from Roman Catholicism into the
arms of Protestantism. However, such a massive change did not come without strife.
The Tudor Dynasty began with King Henry VII. After defeating Richard III and ending the War of
the Roses, Henry united the warring Lancaster and York factions under the Tudor Rose. Henry and
his wife Elizabeth had four children: Arthur, Margaret, Henry, and Mary. After Henry VII s death,
his firstborn son Arthur ascended to the throne and married his betrothed, Catherine of Aragon.
Mere months after the marriage, Arthur died from illness. Henry VIII took his place and married
the widowed Catherine (History.com Staff, Henry VIII )
Catherine bore three sons and three daughters, but only her daughter Mary survived. Henry
became infuriated with his lack of a male heir and began to stray. He feared that God had cursed
Catherine, as the Old Testament forbade marrying a brother s widow. His eye landed upon a young
noblewoman named Anne Boleyn. He sought to marry her, ... Show more content on

Some Protestants saw Elizabeth I s reforms as inadequate; they called the Church halfly reformed.
They removed themselves from the Church of England and sought their own spiritual outlets, such
as Puritanism, which aimed to remove all dredges of Catholicism from the Church. The dissenting
populace was negligible, though, and England remained unified under the Protestant religion. By
the time Elizabeth s reign drew to a close, English citizens respected and loved their Church,
seeing it as a cornerstone of their identity. The significance of this Protestant identity was carried
into English culture as well: Protestant festivals replaced Catholic holidays, such as Elizabeth s day
of accession, the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, and the day England defeated the Spanish

The Rite Of Spring And The Nutcracker Analysis
Listening to Music class has taught me a new way to listen and enjoy music. I have learned how
to differentiate the melodies, rhythms, and instruments in a song. It has also introduced me to
different genres in the music world, aside from what is usually played on the radio. I can now
attend any concert, listen to any genre, or watch any ballet and easily recognize the many specific
aspects the music being played has. Ballets are very interesting to me. The audience is able to
enjoy the music being played as it is telling a story, and being acted out through the performer s
body language. In the two ballets, The Rite of Spring and The Nutcracker, a great story is told in
both referencing the many great dynamics music has. These two specific ballets are written by
different composers, and each one of them have certain conditions they were written under. As
well as different receptions, popularity, and development. The Rite of Spring and The Nutcracker
s differences has made some sort of an impact in the performing world back then as well as now. To
begin, The Rite of Spring was composed by Igor Stravinsky. Stravinsky was born in 1882 near St.
Petersburg, Russia. As a Russian born composer, his music had a revolutionary impact on musical
thought and sensibility just before and after World War I, and his compositions remained a
touchstone of modernism for much of his long working life (Taruskin; White). According to

My First Memory Of A Young Girl
My earliest memory of anything connected to Jesus was at the age of 8, my mum bought me a
series of books called Alice in Bibleland, which tell the adventures of a young girl as she enters
into famous bible stories and interacts with the characters. I thought the books were spectacular,
well drawn, and a rich source of comfort.
Around this time, I would stay with my grandparents on the weekends. Sometimes my
grandmother (whom I simply call Nanny) would take me and my sister to church. At one point
in the service they would always say the Lord s Prayer, seeing that I didn t know it off by heart,
my grandmother was determined I learn it; she wrote it out, put it in a frame and gave it to me to

Catching on to my lack of interest, she warned that the devil could be trying to hinder me from

At the age of 17 my dad became a Christian. I specifically remember changing the religious views
section on my Facebook account to: I respect all religions , subtly saying to my dad, that unlike
him I believed there were many ways to God, if God did indeed exist.
A few months after this, I began the process of applying to university. Since I was getting older I
thought I might attempt to do things properly . It was proper to be a Christian and it was proper to
endure church, even if it was boring. Now this is clear evidence that I was darkened in
understanding, without and without Christ, but God was being exceedingly patient with my folly.
At the age of 18 I received an offer to attend Bath Spa University to study Drama Studies and

Analysis of Ralegh s Nature, that washed her hands in...
Analysis of Ralegh s Nature, that washed her hands in milk
Nature, that washed her hands in milk can be divided structurally into two halves; the first three
stanzas constitute the first half, and the last three stanzas make up the second half. Each stanza in
the first half corresponds to a stanza in the second half. The first stanza describes the temperament
of Nature, who is, above all, creative. This first stanza of the first half corresponds to stanza four,
the first stanza in the second half of the poem. Stanza four divulges the nature of Time, who, unlike
Nature, is ultimately a destroyer. Time is introduced as the enemy of Nature, and Ralegh points out
that not only does Nature despise Time, she has good reason for it ... Show more content on

We still die, and often we are not remembered.
Ralegh conveys this somber realization through his plain style of verse. Though he describes the
mistress in detail, she is not the subject of his poem. Ralegh uses Love s mistress and her
destruction as a vehicle to address the destructive nature of Time. He approaches that subject in the
plain style, using short, proverbial phrases intended to make the reader aware of time and
mutability. The poem contains several lines that are made entirely of one syllable words, which
draw out the time it takes to read the line. Contrast lines 31 32 in Nature, that washed her hands in
milk with lines 8 and 10 in Christopher Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love (p. 989).
Marlowe describes the land in which he lives, where Melodious birds sing madrigals, and beds
are made of a thousand fragrant posies . Marlowe s verse sounds quick and light when spoken,
simply because he uses fewer words in an eight syllable line. Ralegh, in contrast, often uses seven
or eight words to fill the same eight syllable line: Oh, cruel Time! which takes in trust/Our youth,
our joys, and all we have... Line 32 especially requires that the reader take more time to pronounce
each syllable, which adds weight to each word.
Both structure and style are used to deliver meaning in Nature, that washed her hands

Emerging From The Global Recession Of 1973-1975
Emerging from the global recession of 1973 1975, the resulting surge of neoliberalism transformed
the global economy into a secularized faith that draws on anxiety and responsibility for sustenance.
Debt answers to anxiety and allows for a greater participation in the economy, subsequently, debtors
become shackled to their indebtedness, which evolves into a continuous moral burden. The
relationship between credit and debthas developed into a necessary technique of governВment under
neoliberal regimes, as a means of securing order in an era that has seen a rapid growth of poverty
and inequality. Consequently, the conversion from Keynesianism to Neoliberalismrequired five
compulsory reforms: one, rollback of the welfare state to eliminate social safety nets, two, an attack
on the power of organized labor to stagnate wages, three, precarization of labor markets to incite
occupational anxiety, four, financialization of the economy to exacerbate income inequality and
finally fifth, exponential expansion of debt, which restrains debtors and holds the system together.
Therefore, Neoliberalism reorganized Keynesian capitalismto secure hegemony of finance capital, a
project of the wealth owning classes to reverse the impediments they had encountered during the era
of Keynesian social welfare.
Prior to the Great Depression, global economic policy had remained consistent since the 17th
century, laissez faire. Incidentally, in 1929, the stock market crash and the Great Depression

Billfish
The general term billfish describes a number of species of long, predatory fish characterized by
long, sword like bills. It includes sailfish and swordfish. They are generally exploited for both
food and game. Swordfish, in particular, are prized for their firm, tasty flesh. While the long beaks
have been observed in anger to spear objects such as small boats, their main function is to stun prey.
Different Lures For Blue Marlin
Artificial lures, live and natural bait have all been successfully employed to capture the blue
marlin. The most popular technique seems to be artificial lure fishing, which was developed in
Hawaii. Among the earliest artificial lures were chrome towel rails tied with strips of rubber taken
from inner tubes. Four or more such lures are fastened together and trolled behind boats at speeds
of between 7 and 15 knots.

Before the Russo Japanese War, the Japanese and the Russians did not have contact with each other

The Act Of Speaking And Communication In Hush In Buffy The...
The act of speaking and communicating are two very distinct actions. It is a common
misconception that the only way to communicate with someone is by verbally speaking to them;
but how would people communicate if one lost the ability to speak? The episode Hush in Buffy the
Vampire Slayer an Emmy nominated series displays the relationship between talking and
communicating, when evil creatures called The Gentlemen steal the voices of the citizens of
Sunnydale. Buffy and her friends finds ways to communicate better than when they had their
voices. In the episode Hush , when Buffy and her friends lose their voices and the ability to talk
to each other, they are able to resolve their issues and, ironically, communicate best when they
cannot speak. Buffy and her love interest Riley are able to better communicate with each other
after they lose their voices. Throughout the episode, it is evident that Buffy and Riley like each
other but are struggling to find a way to express and act on their emotions. This in part is due to
the fact that both of these characters have a secret, double identity that they are keeping hidden
from each other. Buffy is a vampire slayer and Riley is a covert operative for the United States
military. They both help keep the town of Sunnydale safe from any harmful threats. Furthermore,

Gold Coin Quotes
Gold Coin Synthesis
A gold coin intrigues readers to continue on moving throughout the book, while not becoming
inattentive from the storyline. A gold coin can help foreshadow what is going to happen later on
in the book, or it could leave you hanging and wanting more. Gold coins can appear as a small
scene, fact, or even telling a quote. The placement of a gold coin is very important in the storyline
because it helps the reader become more interested into the story. Joseph Conrad uses gold coins as
a literary device throughout his novel. In chapters 9 13 in the book the Secret Agent Conrad uses
gold coins, which draws the reader s attention into what is going to happen next. Conrad writes, But

Gold coins can be placed throughout the book so the reader can follow them. It is like a reward
being dangled in front of them, so the reader has to continue reading in order to receive the last
reward. That is was Conrad did in the novel. This quote is the reward to the reader because it
reveals who the bomber is. Here is another example of a gold coin: The palms of her hands were
pressed convulsively to her face, with the tips of fingers contracted against the forehead, as
though the skin had been a mask which she was ready to tear off violently (Conrad 175). When
the Chief Inspector enters the scene we know that her brother has passed. This quote shows
Mrs. Verloc reaction to what the chief inspector had presented her with. Mr. Verloc felt the need
of talking to his wife (Conrad 189). The following excerpts make readers more intrigued with the
story. Mr. Verloc has fear for what his wife reaction will be. A dark man, with the ridge of the
cheekbone well defined under the slightly hollow temple. A complete stranger. Not a customer
either (Conrad 163). This quote is a story engine to readers because it makes readers interested in
who is the character that appears on the scene. Conrad starts by describing the character so you
can picture his facial features but not fully giving out who he is which is a gold coin reward
later. In addition, the following excerpt Conrad states She did not look overtly at the customer till
she had established herself comfortably on the chair (Conrad 163) is also a story engine that
Conrad uses to make the readers involved in the story. Story engines and cliffhangers throughout a
book are gold coins because it is a reward to readers to continuing on reading throughout the

Sensitive Periods Define the term sensitive periods Sensitive periods are a period in a child s life
where they are obsessed with certain aspects of learning without any particular reason. This
period is an optimum time for development and children can really develop specific abilities and

show any signs of fatigue and will repeat the activity a number of times. These periods last for a
certain amount of time; however the child may eventually lose interest and may move on to another

Indonesia And Its Impact On Malaysia
Malaysia was nearly always in favor of close economic co operation among Southeast Asian
countries; however, this was impacted often by different nationalistic sentiments in Indonesia,
rarely ones coming from Malaysia. Although tensions and separation have increased, Malays are
much more likely to view Indonesians as a part of their nation than Indonesians are to view
Malaysians as part of their nation. There are likely a variety of reasons contributing to this. Most
importantly, Indonesia is a significantly larger country than Malaysia, with about 250 million
people, while Malaysia only has about 30 million people, of whom only approximately half are
ethnic Malays and 12% from other Bumiputera (native Malay) populations. Furthermore, while
Indonesia does have some non pribumi (native Indonesian) populations, such as the Chinese
Indonesians and Arab Indonesians, these numbers are significantly smaller than those in Malaysia,
where the Chinese population makes up over 22% of the country and the Indian population makes
up about 7%. There are also significantly more non citizens in Malaysia than there are in Indonesia,
contributing to more questions of identity.

data between a system and environment (Hoffer, George, Valacich, 2012, p. 182). In this step,
Data flow diagram (DFD) is structured by system analyst using special tools and techniques to
create a decision table. According to Hoffer, George and Valacich (2012), decision table is a
diagram of process logic where the logic is reasonably complicated (p. 200). This table is useful to
help system analyst to make a decision toward the project. Then all information s gained from this
phase are documented in System Analysis Report (SAR) that acts as a guideline or reference to the
future system development project (Burch, 1992). The next phase in SDLC is design. According to

Twisted Tornadoes
Whats a tornado s favorite game? Twister! Tornadoes cause a lot of damage, because they have
high wind speeds, kill and injure people, cover large amounts of land, they can mix with wild fire
to cause firenadoes, and they are on the ground so they are close to people and structures.
Tornadoes happen most often in the spring time, which is why it is called tornadoseason. Tornado
Alley is where the most tornadoes happen annually. Tornado Alley includes Oklahoma, Kansas, the
Texas Panhandle, Nebraska, Eastern South Dakota, and Eastern Colorado(12 Twisted Tornado
Facts.).
A tornado is a type of natural disaster. Tornadoes are violent and destructive windstorms that
happen on land(Tornado). A windstorm cannot be considered a tornado until it has touched the
ground. Tornadoes form when moist warm air is trapped under cold dry air. When the warm air is
pushed up, if the conditions are right, the air will start to spin and a tornado will form(12 Twisted
Tornado Facts).
Tornadoes can be very dangerous if you are caught in one, like the people of St. Louis in 1896, or
the people caught in the tornadoes of the tornado outbreak in 1974. In the past we didn t have
technology to help us predict tornadoes. Now we can predict them with 70% accuracy.
There was a tornado outbreak in 1947. Three hundred thirty people were killed, and two thousand
and five hundred were injured. One hundred forty eight tornadoes touched down in three states. In
all, there were tornadoes in 13

The Reasons For Becoming Vegetarian
When asked what being vegetarian meant to me in the past, my thoughts depicted leaf eating
hippies protesting for PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals). Over the years I ve become
more open minded, and increased my education on the definition of a true vegetarian. A vegetarian
is defined as an individual who excludes meatand sometimes other animal products from their
everyday diet. The reasons for becoming vegetarian vary. Reasons may be health, moral, or
environmentally related. Some may choose to adopt the diet later in life; others may be born
into it and carry it on throughout their lifetime. I consider my own diet semi or flexitarian,
meaning I choose to limit my meat consumption to four or less times a week. My decision is
based on the healthier eating aspect and my own care for animals. The reason I chose this topic
was to increase my knowledge of the healthy lifestyle I call my own, and hopefully influence
others to limit their meat consumption as well. I believe a more plant based diet would benefit
everyone s well being, generally promote a healthier lifestyle, and reduce the amount of animals
being raised and slaughtered. Vegetarianismis not a newly developed concept; the plant based way
of eating has been around a very long time.
Reasons For and Against Vegetarianism: Why a vegetarian diet is superior
I would like to discuss some of the articles I researched to gain a better understanding of the health
and moral aspects, as well as discuss the

Environmental Science Essay
SCIE210 Unit 5 Individual Project
Sandra Allen
American Intercontinental University
May 27, 2012
From the beginning of time, there has always been wildlife. The animals and plants of our
wildlife contribute to what makes this life so interesting. If all wildlife were to go extinct, then
we would not have a way to replenish the oxygen to survive off of. All animals and plants are a part
of our lifecycle and should be respected as such.
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was put in place to protect threatened and endangered animals
and plants. There are two agencies that equip this program, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
(FWS) and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This act was dated

The Endangered Species Preservation Act of 1966 authorized the Secretary of Interior to spend
$15 million per year to purchase habitats for the species on the endangered list. This act also
required protection of these species on federal land. All land belonging to the public that was
not government was not required but were encouraged to. Many benefits have come from these
law acts that have been set in place. Recovery plans have been put into place to help our animals
and plants replenish. While doing this, exemptions can and do occur. If there is a project to be
done within a habitat of a listed species, then the ESA must notify the FWS and National Marine
Fisheries Service. Once listed species reached a level of stable existence again, they were
delisted. As of 2011, fifty one species had been delisted. Any kind of harming, wounding, or
killing is considered to be a violation. Violations of these laws have a variety of penalties. The
maximum fine is up to $50,000 or a year of imprisonment, possibly both. I do absolutely believe
this law has improved our societies and environments due to helping original life to be sustained.
These animals and plants were created to be on this earth. They did not choose to be here and did
not choose to be killed for human pleasure. This law has given these listed species another chance.

Every Running Business Needs Working Capital
Every running business needs working capital. Even a business which is fully equipped with all
types of fixed assets required is bound to collapse without adequate supply of raw materials for
processing; cash to pay for wages, power and other costs; creating a stock of finished goods to
feed the market demand regularly; and, the ability to grant credit to its customers. All these
require working capital. Working capital is thus like the lifeblood of a business. The business
will not be able to carry on day to day activities without the availability of adequate working
capital. Subsequently, with the usage of fixed assets resulting in value additions, the raw
materials get converted into work in process and then into finished goods. When sold on credit,
the finished goods assume the form of debtors who give the business cash on due date. Thus cash
assumes its original form again at the end of one such working capital cycle but in the course it
passes through various other forms of current assets too. This is how various components of
current assets keep on changing their forms due to value addition. While managing the working
capital, two characteristics of current assets should be kept in mind in which is a short life span,
and swift transformation into other form of current asset. Each constituent of current asset has
comparatively very short life span. Investment remains in a particular form of current asset for a
short period. The life span of current assets depends

Peter Paul Rubens Venus And Adonis
The next work is from Peter Paul Rubens. This creation was probably made in mid 1630 during
his stay in Madrid. The painting is named Venus and Adonis . We can find that Rubens was one of
the most interested artists of endowing the art of painting with prestige. He is the symbol of the
baroque scholar Velazquez always wanted to imitate. This is due to its wide humanistic and
religious culture, the mastery of several languages, the skills for diplomacy and its natural
intelligence. Rubens reaped important prizes and noble distinctions of the kings of Spain and
England that allowed him to acquire the dominion of Steen. For this reason he always self portraits

According to Pacheco, Velazquez s father in law, Rubens copied all of Tiziano s paintings
during his stay in Madrid. Among the mythological scenes Rubens copied in Madrid is Venus
and Adonis, which today houses the Prado Museum. The copy unfortunately has disappeared, but
we can get a rough idea of how it was thanks to this version painted years later. Taking as a source
the Ovid s Metamorphoses tells the story of Adonis: Venus and Persephone were fascinated by his
beauty and it had to be Zeus who settled the matter, deciding that Adonis lived a third of the year
with Aphrodite, the other with Persephone and the third where he wished. However, two thirds of
the year was spent by Adonis in the company of Aphrodite. For reasons unknown, Artemisia was
angry with the young boy and during a hunt sent a wild boar against him, which mortally wounded
him. In this way, Persephone, goddess of the Hells, would enjoy exclusively the young

The Quest For Peace And Justice
When people think of speeches, they usually refer to important people talking about important
topics. The idea of importance often differs time to time ranging from Abortions to Gun Laws.
Martin Luther King, JR. is one of those important figures, as he led a variety of peaceful protests
from the boycott for Rosa Parks to demonstrations in Birmingham in the fight for Civil Rights. Not
to mention, he led the nonwhites in a peaceful resistance of nonviolenceagainst unfair racial views.
Out of all of his speeches, one unique one which stands out is The Quest for Peace and Justice. It
shows the concept where mankind has still not matured enough to where each person of
differing race is able to live next to each other peacefully. Unless mankind can get past the walls
of racial injustice, ignorance of poverty, and the true evil of war, then the battle against racial
prejudice will end in the worst scenario possible. Mankind already has the ability to solve all of
its obstacles by uniting together as a family connected by love and god. In fact, there are two
other speeches comparable in terms of influence and emotion. The most commonly known I
Have a Dream speech on August 28th, 1963 and A Time to Break Silence as King believes the
people must see the war from the perspective of the Vietnamese as a peaceful approach is the best
approach. Of course, The Quest for Peace and Justice is inferior to those two simply because it is
overloading on information, unclear, and unheard

Macbeth and Lady Macbeths Character
The play Macbeth was believed by scholars to have been written by William Shakespeare
sometime between 1603 and 1606. Shakespeare s date of birth is unknown but he was baptised
on 26th April 1564 and died on 23rd April 1616, aged 52. He was an English poet and playwright
with 38 plays, 154 sonnets, 2 long narrative poems, and several other poems which all consist of
his surviving works. His plays have been translated into every major language and are performed
more than any other playwrights around the world. Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford
upon Avonand married Anne Hathawayat the age of 18. They had three children and between 1585
and 1592, he began a successful career in London as a writer and actor. Many speculations... Show

He also realises how good Duncan has been to him and decides against the awful plan. Lady
Macbeth then enters to change his mind. When she hears Macbeth is against the murder she is
outraged and calls him a coward. She then emasculates him by questioning his manhood, telling
him When you durst do it, then you were a man and questions him about his mental state
considering him to be metaphorically hung over. In the time that the play is set, Lady Macbeth
talking to Macbeth in the way she is would have been quite shocking because men were
considered very superior over women and it would have been very disrespectful. Macbeth asks
Lady Macbeth about the possibility of failure and she replies But screw you courage to the
sticking place and we ll not fail . Lady Macbeth is evidently the main driving factor for the
murder of Duncan so far in the play and we can see Macbeth is reluctant to carry out the task.
Lady Macbeth uses some very powerful imagery in the scene when confronting Macbeth that
may shock the audience. She almost convinces Macbeth that she is fully behind the plan by
talking about brutally killing her baby if that were the case. She says Have pluck d my nipple
from his boneless gums, and dash d the brains out, had i sworn as you have done this. The
reasons for Lady Macbeths cruel nature is unclear though we are told I have given suck by Lady
Macbeth but are not informed any more of this baby so it is possible that we are

Difference Between Fishbein And Ajzen s Theory Of Behaviour
According to Ajzen s (1991) theory models, behavior is depend to the behavioral intention. There
are three factors which influence the behavioral intention, which are the attitude towards behavior,
subjective norms and perceived behavior control. Attitudes are a complete mental state involving
belief, feelings, values and temperament to act in certain ways. A subjective norm is the
sanctions of certain behavior of one or more individuals about their perception and the extent how
the behavior will mould up the perception. Perceived behavioral control refers to an individual s
perception regarding the extent of control he or she has over a particular behavior. According to
Fishbein and Ajzen (1975), the rating by an individual for an event will be either positive or
negative. This evaluation can affect an individual s attitude. Furthermore, Bobek (1997) expressed
that attitude of an individual, either good or bad, are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Culture has many definitions, and it affects everything people do in their society because of their
ideas, values, attitudes, and normative or expected patterns of behaviour. Culture is not
genetically inherited, and cannot exist on its own, but is always shared by members of a society
(Hall 1976, p. 16). Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23) defines culture as the collective programming of the
mind which distinguishes the members of one group from another , which is passed from
generation to generation, it is changing all the time because each generation adds something of its
own before passing it on. The social capital literature has shown that socially held beliefs can shape
not only collective actions but government and economic performance (North 1981; Knack and
Keefer, 1997; Landes, 1998; La Porta et al., 1999; Putnam, 1993). Indeed, La Porta et al. (1999:223)
argued that some societies are so intolerant or distrustful that their governments simply cannot

Hypocritical Tendencies in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales Essay
In the Canterbury Tales, Chaucer introduces a variety of characters with a multitude of
personalities. From the despicable Summoner to the abrasive Miller, these characters are created
with their own personalities and their own human failings. One common fault that characters share
is hypocrisy. From pretending to be wealthy to cheating the poor out of money, hypocritical
tendencies are abundant in the Canterbury Tales. Throughout the story, Chaucer ridicules the
human criticizes the human failing of hypocrisy through the examples of the Pardoner, the
Merchant, and the Friar.
One character Chaucer uses to ridicule hypocrisy is the Pardoner. Throughout the description of the
pardoner, it is shown that he is corrupt. He uses lies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Merchant portrays himself to be a financial expert in order to hide his poverty: This
estimable Merchant so had set his wits to work, none knew he was in debt... (104, 289 290).
Although the Merchant gives plenty of opinions on finances, he is a prime example of
hypocrisy in that he gives advice that he cannot follow. The Friar is one of the biggest examples
of hypocrisy in the story. Throughout the Friar s description, he is shown to take advantage of
his position and shun his duties to benefit himself. Instead of conforming to the poor lifestyle of
traditional friars, Chaucer s Friar manipulates people into giving him money and then pockets it
for himself. One way he takes advantage of his position is by charging people for confessions:
Sweetly he heard his penitents at shrift with pleasant absolution, for a gift (103, 225 226). He
also makes money by being an excellent beggar, as shown in the quote: He was the finest beggar
of his batch...For though a widow mightn t have a shoe, so pleasant was his holy how d ye do
he got his farthing from her just the same... (103, 259 261). The Friar also rejects his duties by
refusing to associate with the needy, as described in the passage: It was not fitting with the dignity
of his position, dealing with a scum of wretched lepers; nothing good can come of dealings with the

The Role Of Christ s Church
The role of Christ s church as it relates to evangelism, institutional change, and its ministry to the
general laity, is a continuously growing dynamic that demands resources from church, while
expanding the opportunity to grow the church which inevitably impacts the culture of the
secular institutions from which most of its laity are employed. I believe that the understanding
and revelation of God s word is all encompassing; so that in every season of our maturity in
Christ, we can visit upon a word, a precept, with a fresh understanding and a new perspective that
does not violate the integrity of it meaning and/or alter our doctrinal understanding. I believe that
the role of evangelism is a prime example of how God has not only used the ministry of the
gospel for the call to salvation, but also how he builds the body, institutionalizes the body, equips
the body, empowers the body then dispatches the body back into the world from which it was
called (Matthew 5:14). It is very difficult to dissect the anatomy of the body into its
heterogeneous functions, then focus on one of them, when you know that the body of God,
empowered by the Holy Spirit is really a single organism (1 Corinthians 12:12 ), with a single
purpose, The Kingdom of God. However, it is one of the prime functions of the body to
evangelize, which is the bringing of the good news, and the message of hope, that Gods people
will become alive in him. This mission of evangelism (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15) was

Racial And Ethnic Health Disparities
Summary of Findings

These disparities are and persistent, and happen across the many categories of health and health

A Study On Chronic Coffee Consumption Has Preventative On...
The primary objective of this research was to produce a study that displayed that chronic coffee
consumption has preventative effects in mammals. This paper will allow me to trace the method
that the scientists used in this particular mice experiment. Using the scientific method during the
mice experiment allowed the scientists to ask certain questions, make observations, and receive
answers to their questions. During this experiment twenty one mice were tested to determine
whether water or diluted black coffee would lower the mice blood glucose levels. Through my
research and examination of this experiment I will develop a hypothesisand come to a conclusion
on the basis of the research provided.
Identifying the Steps, Observations, and Hypothesis
The identified steps of the scientific method are ask a question, do background research, construct a
hypothesis, test your hypothesis by doing an experiment, analyze your data and draw a conclusion,
and communicate your results. The observations the scientist made leading up to this experiment
were that mice, which are mammals, have a relatively similar body system to that of a human.
The fact that mice s DNA is so similar to that of a human and that their life span is so short,
scientist can observe how this experiment will affect their bodies in a much faster frame of time.
The hypothesis drawn from this experiment seems to be at odds with the blood glucose in the mice
that consumed the coffee rather than the water had dropped

The company s Chief Technology Officer considered the the cloud as a new system. He

  • 2. Comparing Dorian Gray And Frankenstein The Picture of Dorian Gray and Frankenstein connect the ideas of man and monster through representation of characters who influence a monster and characters who are the physical distorted monster. Both Dorian Gray and the creation are the physical monsters that are involved with murder and sin. These are the ones hated by other characters in their respected stories. Lord Henry and Victor Frankensteinare the characters who create the monsters. While Lord Henry does it from a psychological standpoint whereas Victor did it from a physical standpoint in physically creating a monster. Overall these four characters all show monstrous traits which in turn creates the idea that man can be monster in the case of Victor, Lord Henry, and Dorian,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is until Mary Shelley switches the attention to the monster when he narrates the events of his life. Readers are supposed to believe that Victor s creation is the true monster, but once the creation gives his life story Shelley has her readers turn on Victor victimizing him as the true monster in the novel. The true monster is described to be the one that causes harm to humanity by lying and selfishness.Victor carries both of these traits once the monster is created. He lies to protect himself I well knew that if any other had communicated such a relation to me, I should have looked upon it as the ravings of insanity . . . These reflections determined me, and I resolved to remain silent. (Shelley 79). The decision to keep the true information of what had happened to his brother William resulted in the death of Justine which makes Victor a cause for her death. This idea is a very selfish act in order to protect himself from being viewed insane by his peers if he was to tell the whole story. Victor abandons his creation which turns out to be the worst possible thing he could have done. Victor allows the monster to roam the lands where humans preside when abandoning him which allows his creation to learn why he was created and what he was. He inflicts harm and death on Victor s loved ones because of his evil acts in creating the monster as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development Kaitlyn Fillmore The Pennsylvania State University The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development Introduction Over the years the long term effects of preschool childcare has been a topic of growing interest. The use of these programs have grown dramatically over the years, and more than half of all three to five year olds in the United States attend childcare centers prior to kindergarten (Peisner Feinberg et al., 2001). Many questions have risen overtime on the quality of childcare centers, and the research on these issues has been extremely inadequate. Do these early childcare centers have a long term impact on a child s social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What seemed to have sparked interest in this topic were the inconsistent findings on the issue of social outcomes. Although it has been found that children who attended childcare programs appeared to be more socially competent than home reared peers, displays of aggression and resistance to adult requests were also described among childcare children (Haskins et al., 1985, as cited in Phillips et al., 1987). Phillips, McCartney and Scarr (1987) believed that these contradictory findings differed due to the quality of the childcare programs. Because a high percentage of children were spending majority of their time in a childcare setting, and with those programs ranging in quality, Bermuda was chosen as the site to further this research (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). Nine childcare centers that accepted children from infancy through preschool agreed to participate in the study. These centers were chosen in respect to the diversity of the children s family backgrounds and director s experiences in childcare (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). A total of 166 families participated in the study, with criteria being that the childmust be three years or older, and attending one of the target centers for six months or longer. Of the 166 children, 130 were African American and 36 were Caucasian. Nineteen months was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Voting Is a Right for Americans Essays The United States of America, almost since its conception, demonstrated a shining example of what a successful democracy should be. As citizens of a democratic country, we have the privilege to choose our leaders and the opportunity to have our voices heard. Many countries around the world operate by dictatorship or royal lineage. In these countries, citizens are not granted the freedom to elect officials. Often times, these people face grave consequences if they speak out against their leaders resulting in arrests or other penalties. You would assume, with this knowledge, that Americans hold the highest voter participation. In a study from the 2012 Presidential Electionby ABC, the number of American citizens actively involved in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, when I cast my ballot to vote, I do so in honor of those who sacrificed and worked tirelessly to guarantee my right as an African American and as a woman. My first official votingexperience took place during the Houston Mayoral Election of 2009. Unlike other voters young and older I developed a strong sense with whom and what I was voting for. Mayor Bill White proudly served the city of Houston for three terms and was tough to replace. I did my research on the candidates propositions and paid close attention to their campaign efforts. My parents are strong advocates about the importance of voting. They always lectured my siblings and me about how citizens determined who got into office and how they represented the community. You had a problem, voice your concerns with your ballot, my mom would always say. My father would often exclaim, Don t gripe and not vote. No vote...no room for complaints. Going off to an out of state college, I did not foresee problems faced with voting. Registration methods vary from state to state. Across the country, college students face barriers with exercising their voting rights. In some areas, communities debate whether students can vote as state residents or vote absentee from their hometowns. In other areas, legislators debate whether student IDs can be used at polls. • 5. Freedom of Speech in Cyberspace Essay Freedom of Speech in Cyberspace Introduction As the Internet has become more widely recognized and used by people all over the world, it has brought a new medium in which information can very easily be broadcast to everyone with access to it. In 1995 there was a projected 26 million Internet users, which has grown to almost 300 million today. One major problem with this is that everyone represents different countries and provinces which have different outtakes on certain types of freedom of speech as well as different laws about it. This proposes a new type of law that would need to be written in order to determine whether or not something is illegal on the Internet. A person in one country can express what they want to, but ... What was found was the through the looking at the keywords used in the search and the monitoring of what ISP s were being used in order to reach the site, that Yahoo! could effectively block 90 percent of French visitors. In light of this finding, the judge mandated that Yahoo! would have ninety days to complete the task and that if it was not completed, then a $13,000 a day fine would be imposed. Is this court order a fair one though? Many would argue that a company that has no assets in the country of France would not have to follow its ruling. But since there is a www.yahoo.fr and the US Company Yahoo! has now entered a partnership with French company Minitel to provide online services such as e mail, it definitely proves that Yahoo! wants to also operate in France. So what is Yahoo! to do? The easy solution would be to follow the judge s orders, but what really happened in the end? Yahoo! blocked the offending material on its French site and put up warnings on its US site that told the visitor that they would be breaking French law by viewing the webpage. Because the webpage is being served within the US borders, Yahoo! is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, which bears the right to freedom of speech. • 8. A Short Note On The Air Leak Syndrome Introduction Air Leak Syndrome is a term used to describe a collection of similar pathologies related to air being in pulmonary, pleural and interstitial spaces. The most common cause of air leak syndrome in neonates is inadequate mechanical ventilation of their delicate lungs. The incidence of air leaks in newborns is inversely related to the birth weight of the infants, especially in infants suffering from respiratory distress syndrome and meconium aspiration (Walsh, 2015). Chest tube drainage and/or needle aspiration are necessary in managing pneumopericardium with cardiac tamponade or tension pneumothorax. To prevent air leak syndrome, gentle ventilation with low pressure, low tidal volume, low inspiratory time, high rate, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For pneumothorax, the incidence from 1990 2002 was 13% in babies weighing 1000 grams are at high risk the first day or two after birth. Babies with pulmonary hypoplasia, meconium aspiration syndrome, and respiratory distress syndrome are also at higher risk. Use of NIV/CPAP also increases the risk. An article in the Pediatrics journal cited three cases where children of various ages developed various air leaks from the use of high flow nasal cannula (HHNC) therapy. The author cited the urgent need to conduct more studies on HHNC and that it should not be used for providing positive distending pressure. Set flows should not exceed the patient s minute ventilation (Hegde, 2013). Prevention Sadly, it should be understood that most of pulmonary air leaks are iatrogenic. Healthcare workers should not be overly aggressive when doing CPR and using the bag mask. Infants lungs are fragile and cannot handle being over ventilated. When using mechanical ventilation, use low pressures low tidal volumes and high respiratory rates. Risk of pneumothorax and pulmonary interstitial emphysema can be reduced by using surfactant. Pathophysiology Air leaks are a result of overdistention of the lungs and can cause uneven alveolar ventilation and air trapping. Increased pressures can rupture alveoli or other tissues, allowing air to escape into the interstitial spaces. This air can then travel through perivascular adventitia, causing pulmonary interstitial emphysema. If the air ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Literary Review of Sexuality and Gender in Science Fiction... Literary Review My argument is that SF literature offers a utopian hope for the future where individual differences are no longer criticized. To conduct this literature review I used multiple information sources to examine issues of gender and sexuality within science fiction literature. None of these sources claim to have produced a conclusive work on the interpretation of gender and sexuality in SF. Some of what I have read seems to be a general overview while some is more focused, but everything clearly references other theorists, studies and texts to back up the arguments made. The Cambridge Companion to Science Fiction Edward James This book combines essays by academics and writers of SF, which examine the genre from diverse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words feminist SF is an effective and powerful means for feminist visionary developments that are crucial for the initial attempts to embark on the cultural and social changes that are the goals for the feminist political enterprise. Hollinger discusses Le Guin s view that feminist SF doesn t prophecy the future but it refers to the world as it is. This is interesting because it emphasises this idea that the SF can explore such issues of gender and sexuality in reality. Hollinger references works such as The Female Man, Bloodchild , The Left Hand of Darkness and Women on the Edge of Time together with people like Donna Harraway, Teresa de Lauretis and Judith Butler. In addition to the well known feminist utopian works of the 70 s Hollinger also mentions Helen O Loy, which is an early masculine focused novel. We see the importance of feminist SF when we read about works such as this, because the contrast shows that some SF writers obviously didn t identify the historical possibility and cultural traditionalism of our notions regarding gender and sexual identity and the roles of men and women. Hollinger brings together plenty of evidence to back up her points about feminist theory and SF making for a comprehensive essay. • 10. Hans Albert Einstein And The Life Of Albert Einstein Albert Einstein was born to secular Jewish family in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879. Einstein is best known for the development of the theory of relativity, a major structure of physics. However, before he became this revered figure in science, Einstein worked at a patent office in Bern, Switzerland where he developed his first scientific theories. Much of his work at the patent office presented questions about transmission of electric signals and electrical mechanical synchronization of time, two technical problems that eventually led Einstein to his revolutionary conclusions about the nature of light and the fundamental connection between space and time. While attending college at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic, Einstein met Mileva Maric, with whom he developed a close relationship with. In January 1903, Einstein married Maric, and they later had two children. The first son, Hans Albert Einstein, born in Bern, Switzerland, and the second, Eduard Einstein, born in Zurich July 1910. Einstein and Mileva are believed to have had their first child in 1902, a daughter they named Lieserl, who is believed to have either been given up for adoption or died of scarlet fever. Hans later went on to become a professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and received honorable recognition for his research regarding sediment transport. Eduard studied medicine in hopes of becoming a psychiatrist, but unfortunately suffered a breakdown, which led to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples for that are customizing products or services they need. Customers interact with the market in a critical way in order to optimize it in an economic functional and also cultural way. Generally, consumers engage in different activities that boost the market value of any company s offer on the market. There are different types of activities: positive (co creation), critical (resistance), intangible (appropriation) and tangible (product information). The second characteristic is that consumers interact with each other and even company staff while producing value. Associations of individuals who work together create innovations and provide cultural and social capital (ibid.). The process of cultural value creation and consumer agency is based on social interaction and even companies sometimes participate in this process as partners (Cova, Dalli, 2009: 325). Direct interaction is possible between consumers and also companies due to new technologies. The third factor that describes consumer productive activity is that consumers seek personal purposes, such as pleasure, satisfaction, commitment and others. According to Walker (2008), the wish of consumers to cooperate with a company or brand is a reaction of helpless, disconnected and uncounted feelings. Cyber criminals take full advantage of the anonymity and secrecy provided by The Onion Router (TOR) networks through the Internet; therefore, attacking the very foundations of our modern information society is very easy. Cyber crime can involve credit card theft, computer viruses, cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, cyber pornography, Denial of Service attacks, Distributive Denial of Service Attacks, hacktivism (hacking activism), identity theft, malware, and spam. Law enforcement officials have struggled to keep pace with cyber criminals, who cost the global economy billions annually. Cyber fraudrefers to any type of deliberate deception for unfair or unlawful gain that occurs online. Due to the complexity of Cyber Fraud today, typically many people will refer to themselves as hacktivists; Anonymous, Blue Tic, and Lizard Squad are great examples. The common types or forms that of this type of fraud discussed today will be distributed Ransomware, Social Engineering (The art of human hacking) which relates back to a computer, and the typical phishing tactics to steal credit and debit card information. Adopting children from foreign countries is a process that has lots of tight rules and regulations. Many families who have the desire to adopt internationally are sometimes negatively affected by such strict requirements, which alter their chances to adopt. There are many reasons that international adoptionis such a hard process and some are not even the adoption that causes setbacks. Some countries like Ethiopia face setbacks due to fraud and corruption. Other reasons as to why adoption is so difficult is the Hague and Non Hague adoption processes. In the article Baby Blues: Why the International Adoption Process Needs an Overhaul the Alexa Clark writes, The Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption created laws that called for oversight from a centralized body and mandate that states thoroughly search for domestic adopters before resorting to adoption abroad (Clark). It was intended to prevent corruption and make adoptions more transparent, but implementing its rules has led to slowdowns or shutdowns in some countries. The Non Hague approach is for countries who did not want to implement the Hague rules and for those countries prospective adopting parents would just follow those countries specific rules. Additionally, agency theory is a widely accepted behavioral perspective. The primary objective of this case is to highlight control system ethical issues using an agency theory context. Too frequently for the Group Vice President (VP), the unique nature of each project had led to cost overruns, sometimes causing significant project losses. Senior management looked very unfavorably on these substantial losses. Worse yet, the Group VP was often surprised about these cost overruns, because the company had a very poor costinformation system. Costs were only accumulated at the completion of construction, and only then did these overruns get reported. To make matters worse, little detail was provided that could identify these cost overruns in the cost reports. An expensive and lengthy search was required to obtain information on which part(s) of the project has cost overruns. In short, top management had very little information and was poorly informed about the operation of the Membrane group. Consequently, the Group VP was reluctant to waste time on what was already water under the bridge, believing his time was better spent on current projects and preventing future overruns. Ricketts (2014) notes that the mission of the NCA is to provide Veterans with an honorary burial space in national cemeteries. They place a heavy significance on paying tribute to the Veteran s services and sacrifices. In order to better understand the efforts carried out by the NCA, it is beneficial to review its history and development. According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs ( History and development of the national cemeteryadministration , 2015), the origin of National cemeteries began during the Civil War. Prior to the establishment of such places, fallen soldiers were often buried on battlefields, nearby campsites, or taken to the families chosen cemetery. However as the war progressed, the chaos and limited land titles led to quick and inadequate burials. Neither the Union nor the Confederacy were equipped with the awareness and resources to properly bury their soldiers . In 1861, Congress provided the Union with benefits by appointing the Army s Quartermaster General as a conductor of burial responsibilities. This order worked to ensure that there would be a record of all burials. It also stated that a graveshould be marked with the placement of a wooden headboard. • 20. Listening During A Rehearsal And Performance Listening during a rehearsal to detect errors and interpret musical details is an essential skill when teaching instrumental music. Conductors must correct note and rhythmic errors while also making artistic decisions about dynamics, style, articulations, and other musical elements. Teaching students to create characteristic tone quality, balance, and blend adds to the complexity of these musical elements. Score study is one way directors establish an internal aural image, later attempting to recreate this picture in rehearsal and performance. Ideally, score study helps create a mental sound image or musical landscape (Battisti Garofalo 1990, p. 3). Directors may often find that teaching students to evaluate mistakes and self correct is a difficult task. One of the goals of an effective rehearsal is error detection and correction. Many studies have researched the characteristics of teachers effective in this area of practice (Brand Burnsed, 1981; Cavitt, 2003; Crowe, 1996; Forsythe Woods, 1983; Waggoner, 2011). In a descriptive study, Cavitt (2003) found several traits that were common among educators with strong error detection skills. These included (a) persistence in correcting the problem, (b) repetition, (c) brief talking and modeling, (d) modeling occurred frequently, (e) high rates of specific feedback, (f) identifying the problem before rehearsal, and (g) error practiced in a variety of contexts. • 21. The Depth Psychology Of Evil, And The Nature Of God Corbett s parallel to his former religion continues in his chapter on the depth psychology of evil, and the nature of God. In this section, he moves into theodicy, the attempt to justify God in the face of evil (p.129). As Corbett explains, God image within the Western monotheistic philosophy is one that is both all good and all powerful, but that the presence of evil in our world creates a paradox of these two natures. The tried arguments is that either Godis all powerful, but in allowing and/or creating evil means that he is not all good, or that he is all good, but inability to stop evil means that he is not all powerful. This point creates a paradox of the Christian God, making him impossible in the mind of modern person. Nevertheless, in his true fashion, Corbett moves away from Christian ideology, but not away from the essence of it entirely. Instead, he proposes instead a different nature of God. That is, a God of dual natures: abstract and concrete. In God s abstract nature, he is timeless and perfect, while in his concrete nature, he is not all powerful, not changeless, and not all knowing, and not the ultimate source in the universe (p.131). But, he is still loving. The implications therefore are that using force is outside of his loving nature, so God cannot stop evil, and that because god is within us all, he suffers with us. Corbett s argument makes God compatible with actually sound belief in the nature of evil. Careful not to belittle the very real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sadly, since Cadence had all of those problems with her health she underwent vomiting, horror, migraines, blackouts, weight loss, terrible doctor visits and much more, but that wasn t even the worst part. All Cadence wanted to know was what happened. She wanted her mom to tell her memories of the summers before. Her mother tried, but it didn t work that well so she gave up. During this time, the Tudor Dynasty swept England from Roman Catholicism into the arms of Protestantism. However, such a massive change did not come without strife. The Tudor Dynasty began with King Henry VII. After defeating Richard III and ending the War of the Roses, Henry united the warring Lancaster and York factions under the Tudor Rose. Henry and his wife Elizabeth had four children: Arthur, Margaret, Henry, and Mary. After Henry VII s death, his firstborn son Arthur ascended to the throne and married his betrothed, Catherine of Aragon. Mere months after the marriage, Arthur died from illness. Henry VIII took his place and married the widowed Catherine (History.com Staff, Henry VIII ) Catherine bore three sons and three daughters, but only her daughter Mary survived. Analysis of Ralegh s Nature, that washed her hands in milk Nature, that washed her hands in milk can be divided structurally into two halves; the first three stanzas constitute the first half, and the last three stanzas make up the second half. Each stanza in the first half corresponds to a stanza in the second half. The first stanza describes the temperament of Nature, who is, above all, creative. This first stanza of the first half corresponds to stanza four, the first stanza in the second half of the poem. We still die, and often we are not remembered. Ralegh conveys this somber realization through his plain style of verse. Though he describes the mistress in detail, she is not the subject of his poem. Ralegh uses Love s mistress and her destruction as a vehicle to address the destructive nature of Time. He approaches that subject in the plain style, using short, proverbial phrases intended to make the reader aware of time and mutability. The poem contains several lines that are made entirely of one syllable words, which draw out the time it takes to read the line. Contrast lines 31 32 in Nature, that washed her hands in milk with lines 8 and 10 in Christopher Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love (p. 989). Marlowe describes the land in which he lives, where Melodious birds sing madrigals, and beds are made of a thousand fragrant posies . Marlowe s verse sounds quick and light when spoken, simply because he uses fewer words in an eight syllable line. Ralegh, in contrast, often uses seven or eight words to fill the same eight syllable line: Oh, cruel Time! which takes in trust/Our youth, our joys, and all we have... Line 32 especially requires that the reader take more time to pronounce each syllable, which adds weight to each word. Emerging From The Global Recession Of 1973-1975 Emerging from the global recession of 1973 1975, the resulting surge of neoliberalism transformed the global economy into a secularized faith that draws on anxiety and responsibility for sustenance. Debt answers to anxiety and allows for a greater participation in the economy, subsequently, debtors become shackled to their indebtedness, which evolves into a continuous moral burden. The relationship between credit and debthas developed into a necessary technique of governВment under neoliberal regimes, as a means of securing order in an era that has seen a rapid growth of poverty and inequality. Consequently, the conversion from Keynesianism to Neoliberalismrequired five compulsory reforms: one, rollback of the welfare state to eliminate social safety nets, two, an attack on the power of organized labor to stagnate wages, three, precarization of labor markets to incite occupational anxiety, four, financialization of the economy to exacerbate income inequality and finally fifth, exponential expansion of debt, which restrains debtors and holds the system together. Therefore, Neoliberalism reorganized Keynesian capitalismto secure hegemony of finance capital, a project of the wealth owning classes to reverse the impediments they had encountered during the era of Keynesian social welfare. A gold coin can help foreshadow what is going to happen later on in the book, or it could leave you hanging and wanting more. Gold coins can appear as a small scene, fact, or even telling a quote. The placement of a gold coin is very important in the storyline because it helps the reader become more interested into the story. Joseph Conrad uses gold coins as a literary device throughout his novel. In chapters 9 13 in the book the Secret Agent Conrad uses gold coins, which draws the reader s attention into what is going to happen next. It is like a reward being dangled in front of them, so the reader has to continue reading in order to receive the last reward. That is was Conrad did in the novel. This quote is the reward to the reader because it reveals who the bomber is. Here is another example of a gold coin: The palms of her hands were pressed convulsively to her face, with the tips of fingers contracted against the forehead, as though the skin had been a mask which she was ready to tear off violently (Conrad 175). When the Chief Inspector enters the scene we know that her brother has passed. This quote shows Mrs. Verloc reaction to what the chief inspector had presented her with. Mr. Verloc felt the need of talking to his wife (Conrad 189). The following excerpts make readers more intrigued with the story. Mr. Verloc has fear for what his wife reaction will be. A dark man, with the ridge of the cheekbone well defined under the slightly hollow temple. A complete stranger. Not a customer either (Conrad 163). This quote is a story engine to readers because it makes readers interested in who is the character that appears on the scene. Conrad starts by describing the character so you can picture his facial features but not fully giving out who he is which is a gold coin reward later. In addition, the following excerpt Conrad states She did not look overtly at the customer till she had established herself comfortably on the chair (Conrad 163) is also a story engine that Conrad uses to make the readers involved in the story. Although tensions and separation have increased, Malays are much more likely to view Indonesians as a part of their nation than Indonesians are to view Malaysians as part of their nation. There are likely a variety of reasons contributing to this. Most importantly, Indonesia is a significantly larger country than Malaysia, with about 250 million people, while Malaysia only has about 30 million people, of whom only approximately half are ethnic Malays and 12% from other Bumiputera (native Malay) populations. A vegetarian is defined as an individual who excludes meatand sometimes other animal products from their everyday diet. The reasons for becoming vegetarian vary. Reasons may be health, moral, or environmentally related. Some may choose to adopt the diet later in life; others may be born into it and carry it on throughout their lifetime. I consider my own diet semi or flexitarian, meaning I choose to limit my meat consumption to four or less times a week. My decision is based on the healthier eating aspect and my own care for animals. The reason I chose this topic was to increase my knowledge of the healthy lifestyle I call my own, and hopefully influence others to limit their meat consumption as well. • 44. Every Running Business Needs Working Capital Every running business needs working capital. Even a business which is fully equipped with all types of fixed assets required is bound to collapse without adequate supply of raw materials for processing; cash to pay for wages, power and other costs; creating a stock of finished goods to feed the market demand regularly; and, the ability to grant credit to its customers. All these require working capital. Working capital is thus like the lifeblood of a business. The business will not be able to carry on day to day activities without the availability of adequate working capital. Subsequently, with the usage of fixed assets resulting in value additions, the raw materials get converted into work in process and then into finished goods. When sold on credit, the finished goods assume the form of debtors who give the business cash on due date. Thus cash assumes its original form again at the end of one such working capital cycle but in the course it passes through various other forms of current assets too. This is how various components of current assets keep on changing their forms due to value addition. While managing the working capital, two characteristics of current assets should be kept in mind in which is a short life span, and swift transformation into other form of current asset. Each constituent of current asset has comparatively very short life span. Investment remains in a particular form of current asset for a short period. The life span of current assets depends ... Not to mention, he led the nonwhites in a peaceful resistance of nonviolenceagainst unfair racial views. Out of all of his speeches, one unique one which stands out is The Quest for Peace and Justice. The Role Of Christ s Church The role of Christ s church as it relates to evangelism, institutional change, and its ministry to the general laity, is a continuously growing dynamic that demands resources from church, while expanding the opportunity to grow the church which inevitably impacts the culture of the secular institutions from which most of its laity are employed. I believe that the understanding and revelation of God s word is all encompassing; so that in every season of our maturity in Christ, we can visit upon a word, a precept, with a fresh understanding and a new perspective that does not violate the integrity of it meaning and/or alter our doctrinal understanding. I believe that the role of evangelism is a prime example of how God has not only used the ministry of the gospel for the call to salvation, but also how he builds the body, institutionalizes the body, equips the body, empowers the body then dispatches the body back into the world from which it was called (Matthew 5:14). It is very difficult to dissect the anatomy of the body into its heterogeneous functions, then focus on one of them, when you know that the body of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit is really a single organism (1 Corinthians 12:12 ), with a single purpose, The Kingdom of God. However, it is one of the prime functions of the body to evangelize, which is the bringing of the good news, and the message of hope, that Gods people will become alive in him.
