TOPIC: Weather – Seasons.
CLASSESS Nº 6 – 7.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Students will be able to talk about the weather, asking and answering questions about it, with
the provided structure: “What´s the weather like?” “It´s sunny/rainy/cloudy, etc.” With the
purpose of expressing through new vocabulary what´s the weather like and which type of
weather they prefer.
• Students will be able to understand and produce listening, speaking, reading and writing macro-
skills.
ROUTINES:
• Greeting song, checking of the attendance, choosing an assistant, asking about the date and
about the weather.
WARM UP:
The teacher will review the topic introduced the previous class, by making use of the seasons’ and animals’
flashcards. She will ask them: What was the story about? What happened in every season with the animals of
the short story? Etc. if necessary the teacher will ask the questions in Spanish.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students – Teacher.
MACRO-SKILLS: Speaking.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
MATERIALS: Flashcards - Blackboard.
DEVELOPMENT:
 First Activity:
The teacher will give instructions for the first activity before separating pupils in groups (three groups of three
and one group of four). The idea of this task is that each group represent a different season and that they could
retell what happened in the short story “The lazy bear” but according to the season they were given. Students
will also be able to decorate the posters (provided by the teacher) that correspond to their season as they wish.
Once they finish doing this activity, each group will have to show its production and will have to read too but
following the order of the story and once each group has presented its posters; everything will be exposed on
one side of the classrooms’ walls.
So as to work properly with this task, pupils will count with the seasons’ flashcards, with the copies they worked
with the previous class and with the teacher’s help.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students in small groups – Students as a whole class – Teacher.
MACRO – SKILLS: Reading – Writing – Speaking.
TIMING: 25 minutes.
MATERIALS: Flashcards – Blackboard – Copies – Colours.
 Second Activity:
The teacher will set instructions before giving the copies to the students with a crossword about weather and
seasons. They have to complete the words in the crossword but also fill in the gaps in the sentences below. So as
to complete this exercise pupils will count with flashcards about weather and seasons and with the teacher’s
help if necessary. Just in case they do not finish it in class it will be set as homework.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually – Teacher.
MACRO – SKILLS: Reading – Writing.
TIMING: 10 minutes
MATERIALS: Flashcards – Blackboard – Copies.
CLOSING UP:
• The teacher will assign the last activity as homework just in case students do not finish it in
class.
• The teacher will collect her material and say good-bye.

  • 1. PRACTICE II, DIDACTICS OF ELT. LESSON PLAN Nº 5 TEACHER: Estela N. Braun. TRAINEE: Ana Belén Zabala SCHOOL: “Quelulén” nº 246 COURSE: 4TH TEXTBOOK: Treetops 3/ Materials provided by the teacher. DATE: Wednesday 14th / Monday 19th September from 16.10 to 16.50 TOPIC: Weather – Seasons. CLASSESS Nº 6 – 7. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: • Students will be able to talk about the weather, asking and answering questions about it, with the provided structure: “What´s the weather like?” “It´s sunny/rainy/cloudy, etc.” With the purpose of expressing through new vocabulary what´s the weather like and which type of weather they prefer. • Students will be able to understand and produce listening, speaking, reading and writing macro- skills. ROUTINES: • Greeting song, checking of the attendance, choosing an assistant, asking about the date and about the weather.
  • 2. WARM UP: The teacher will review the topic introduced the previous class, by making use of the seasons’ and animals’ flashcards. She will ask them: What was the story about? What happened in every season with the animals of the short story? Etc. if necessary the teacher will ask the questions in Spanish. TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students – Teacher. MACRO-SKILLS: Speaking. TIMING: 10 minutes. MATERIALS: Flashcards - Blackboard. DEVELOPMENT:  First Activity: The teacher will give instructions for the first activity before separating pupils in groups (three groups of three and one group of four). The idea of this task is that each group represent a different season and that they could retell what happened in the short story “The lazy bear” but according to the season they were given. Students will also be able to decorate the posters (provided by the teacher) that correspond to their season as they wish. Once they finish doing this activity, each group will have to show its production and will have to read too but following the order of the story and once each group has presented its posters; everything will be exposed on one side of the classrooms’ walls. So as to work properly with this task, pupils will count with the seasons’ flashcards, with the copies they worked with the previous class and with the teacher’s help. TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students in small groups – Students as a whole class – Teacher. MACRO – SKILLS: Reading – Writing – Speaking. TIMING: 25 minutes. MATERIALS: Flashcards – Blackboard – Copies – Colours.
  • 3.  Second Activity: The teacher will set instructions before giving the copies to the students with a crossword about weather and seasons. They have to complete the words in the crossword but also fill in the gaps in the sentences below. So as to complete this exercise pupils will count with flashcards about weather and seasons and with the teacher’s help if necessary. Just in case they do not finish it in class it will be set as homework. TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually – Teacher. MACRO – SKILLS: Reading – Writing. TIMING: 10 minutes MATERIALS: Flashcards – Blackboard – Copies. CLOSING UP: • The teacher will assign the last activity as homework just in case students do not finish it in class. • The teacher will collect her material and say good-bye. APPENDIX.  Flashcards: weather, seasons, animals.
