TOPIC: Weather
CLASS Nº 1 – 2.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Students will be able to talk about the weather, asking and answering questions about it,
with the provided structure: “What´s the weather like?” “It´s sunny/rainy/cloudy, etc.” With
the purpose of expressing through new vocabulary what´s the weather like and which type
of weather they prefer.
• Students will be able to understand and produce listening, speaking, reading and writing
macro-skills.
WARM UP:
• The teacher will begin the class greeting the students through a short song (teacher: yellow red –
students: green and blue, hello teacher how are you – teacher: I’m fine thank you)
• The teacher will begin the class checking the attendance and asking “What day is today?” before
writing the date on the board.
2. • The teacher will ask “What´s the weather like?” so as to introduce the new topic, if necessary she
will ask the question in Spanish and the she´ll write the question on the board.
• The teacher will present different flashcards with images and vocabulary about weather so as to
answer the previous question.
• The teacher will present on the board images of different cities with different weather conditions
and will ask the students what´s the weather like in those places.
• The teacher will end up the lesson asking to the pupils to write down on their notebooks what´s the
weather like here in Santa Rosa?
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Teacher – students.
MACRO-SKILLS: Listening – speaking.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
MATERIALS: Blackboard – flashcards.
DEVELOPMENT:
• First activity:
The teacher will place pictures of different cities on the blackboard with different weather conditions and
will ask to the students “What´s the weather like?” in those places, but beforehand she would have copied
on the board the question and the structure of the answer: “It´s…”
Type of interaction: Students as a group.
Macro-skills: Speaking.
Timing: 15 minutes.
Materials: Blackboard – posters – flashcards.
• Second activity:
The teacher will copy on the board the question “What´s the weather like in Santa Rosa?”. She will ask the
question orally to all the students and then she will ask them to copy the question on their notebooks and to
answer it with the correct form.
Type of interaction: Students as a group.
Macro-skills: Speaking – writing.
3. Timing: 5 minutes.
Materials: Blackboard – flashcards.
Third activity:
The teacher will give to the students a copy with one activity in which they will have to find the new
vocabulary connected with weather presented in this first class (word search). Then, she will give
instructions for the activity and pupils will have to start working in class and in case they do not finish the
activity, it will be set as homework.
CLOSING UP:
• The teacher will assign the last activity as homework just in case students do not finish it in class.
• The teacher will collect her material and say good-bye.
