TOPIC: Weather – Seasons.
CLASS Nº 4
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Students will be able to talk about the weather, asking and answering questions about it, with
the provided structure: “What´s the weather like?” “It´s sunny/rainy/cloudy, etc.” With the
purpose of expressing through new vocabulary what´s the weather like and which type of
weather they prefer.
• Students will be able to understand and produce listening, speaking, reading and writing macro-
skills.
ROUTINES:
• Greeting song, checking of the attendance, choosing an assistant, asking about the date and
about the weather.
WARM UP:
The teacher will present the notion of seasons through a song called “The leaves on the tree”. So as to develop
this first step in the lesson she will provide copies with the song lyrics for the students to follow. Once the song
finishes the teacher will present on the board different images together with the vocabulary of seasons and will
ask what happens to trees in each season according to the song. If necessary she will ask the questions in
Spanish.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Teacher – students.
MACRO-SKILLS: Listening – speaking.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
MATERIALS: Blackboard – Audio system – Copies - Flashcards.
DEVELOPMENT:
 First Activity:
The teacher will give copies to the students with three sets of activities. In exercise A), they will have to match
different vocabulary items presented in the song together with their corresponding images. In exercise B), pupils
will have to put in order the sentences which refer to the trees’ leaves process. In exercise C), students will have
to read the sentences below four different trees and colour them according to what the sentences say. The
teacher will play the song three more times if it is necessary and pupils will count with flashcards with
vocabulary and images about seasons so as to solve the exercise properly. Also they will count with the teacher’s
help.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually.
MACRO-SKILSS: Writing – Reading.
TIMING: 25 minutes.
MATERIALS: Blackboard – Flashcards – Copies – Audio system.
 Second Activity:
The teacher will give copies to the students with one activity in which they will have to cut four images of
seasons and paste them in their corresponding box. So as to do the activity they will count with the seasons
flashcards presented on the board and with the teacher´s help if necessary. Once they have finished, they will
check all together and in case they do not finish the exercise in class, it will be assigned as homework.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually – Students as a group.
MACRO-SKILLS: Writing – Speaking – Reading.
TIMING: 15 minutes.
MATERIALS: Blackboard – Flashcards – Copies.
CLOSING UP:
• The teacher will assign the last activity as homework just in case students do not finish it in
class.
• The teacher will collect her material and say good-bye.
