Pros And Cons Of Being A Outsiders
Retired Brigadier General Don Bacon, candidate for the United States Congress, announced today that
he has received the endorsement of State Senator Beau McCoy of Omaha in his bid to represent
Nebraska in the Second District. Don has spent almost thirty years defending our fellow Americans
and our Constitution at home and abroad, said Senator McCoy. He has proven countless times that he
has the courage to take on the biggest of challenges. Out of control spending, excessive regulations,
and an administration that is blind to the dangers of the world appears to be the new norm in
Washington. Now more than ever, we need conservative outsiders with proven leadership experience
to tackle these problems in Congress. Don is the person who

One Flew over the Cuckoo Nest Critical Analysis
One flew over the cuckoo nest One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest The film One flew Over the Cuckoo
s Nest accurately depicts and presents the various psychological issues, such as the use of
psychosurgery, institutionalism inside the psychiatric hospital and the medical and societal attitudes
towards patients during the 1960s. Set in 1963, the film uses characters patients and authority figures
alike and setting to accurately depict various aspects of psychological treatments, theories and
concepts applied, before more ethical practices were introduced later in the 20th century. The film
itself was extremely powerful in presenting the methods it used by psychiatric asylums to treat its
patients, and was credited with tarnishing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is in this context that the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is identified as a possible medium
to investigate the nature and effect of a psychiatric system as accurately portrayed through this
particular film, The film depicts the psychiatric system as rigid, leaving patients with little room to
express their individuality. The effect of the staff members behaviour on the patient s
psychotherapeutic growth, highlights the staff s ignorance and lack of knowingness of their individual
responsibility, contributing to the psychopathology of not only the patients , but also the system as a
whole. The interactional style of the psychiatric staff, as portrayed in the film, serves to contribute to
the deterioration of the mental and psychological well being of the patients , thus inhibiting their
psychological growth. The majority of One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest takes place in the Day Room
of the hospital. The setting adds to the feeling of confinement, with the men often resorting to playing
games of chess or resorting to cards to pass their time. The space of the institution itself is
characterised by an obsession with routines, and adherence to control and confinement that is, under
Nurse Ratchet s control. Medicine time, music time, recreation time each are strictly designated and

In the Victorian era, the role of a woman is to be the perfect wife for their husband and a attentive
mother for their children. In Lady of Shalott, Tennyson comments women s changing roles in society,
as he utilizes the medieval setting to contrast Victorian values in patriarchal societies. The Lady of
Shalott embodies the woman who abandons her social responsibility in her for love as it leads towards
death; due to the fact, that she abandoned her own role. It emphasizes the representations of both ...

Essay about Jonathan Swift
Jonathan Swift
In an age of where rationality and morals were held to the accepted values, Jonathan Swift stood out
as a champion of humanism. All his life he attacked pretense and begged people to see that life is not
always what it seems when you look harder and think deeper. In addition, Swift was one of the most
powerful writers of his time; able to rally people and nations around the caustic and moral views
expressed in his works. His political writings for the Tories exposed the corruptions of government
and paved the way for his acclaimed satires. Swift s great strength lied in impressing people into
believing his ideals without blatantly professing them or becoming preachy. Swift was raised in
Dublin, and was schooled well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We do not merely agree with the moral evaluations implied; we have lived, in our imaginations,
through a moral experience (Williams 4). Swift doesn t simply tell us his beliefs; he makes the reader
sort it out through the context of the story. By placing his ideas and morals upon other characters,
Swift himself stands distant from these scenes he writes about. In doing so, he artistically, yet
implicitly, defines the interval between the normal and the absurd. We attain normality by guarding
against pride, and this we could do easily by observing the distorted figures in comedy and satire
(Quintana 39).
An example where Swift uses his satire in a crafty, implicit way is in one of his first major works, A
Tale of A Tub. The book is about exposing the corruption and abuses of religion at the time. In section
VI of the book, Swift takes the form of an earnest storyteller but in fact he is telling the history of the
major Christian Churches. The three main characters are obviously personas for the three main
churches at the time. There is Peter, who in truth represents the Roman Catholic Church; Martin, who
is named after the Protestant/Lutheran/Anglican Church; and Jack, who is named after Calvinism and
the other nonconformist Christian religions. Swift, as the narrator, is asserting to be telling this story
just like it happened, and not drawing any conclusions or seeing any

Persuasive Essay On Landfills
Recycling and composting should be taken up nation wide. Our landfills are filling up across the
nation and we are running out of space to put all of our trash. Composting and recycling would not
only give back to the enviroment and improve our planet health overall, but it would allow for more
space in landfills. They state in the article that Americans produce more than four pounds of trash and
recycles only about a third of that amount. (Paragraph 3, Scentance 2.) By that logic, we keep taking
and throwing away so senslessly that in a matter of time I fear that our world will be overun with
garbage. When the landfills fill up, where is all the garbage going to go? Oceans, the streets, clearing
more land for a new one?

In the 1920s an age of relative affluence, Thoreau was popularly seen as a rebel. Thoreau s ideals are
inoperative in the real, everyday world, and because he will not compromise his ideals, at all, they
have no effect upon the world: they are politically useless. (TAMU) Another Critic, Vernon
Parrington, would praise Thoreau as truly original and independent. In the 1930s, James MacKaye
would turn to the politics and denounce them, because he saw no cooperation and devoid of reason.
(TAMU) Starting, into the 1940 s there was plenty universal appeal, in the aspect of usefulness

famous writer said He was bred to no profession; he never went to church; he never voted; he refused
to pay a tax to the State; he ate no flesh; he drank no wine; he never knew the use of tobacco; and,
though a naturalist, he used neither trap nor gun. Meyers claimed that Thoreau was violent and

The Role of the Circus Folk in Hard Times by Charles Dickens
The role of the circus is both complex and simple it is in itself a contradiction; it has been placed
within the novel to add another dimension to the story of Coketown but also to show how fragile
human nature can be. The circus folks role are complicated in their simplicity, they are of course there
to carry out the role that they are paid to perform as actors or performers as well as being there for the
second more complicated role of showing the notion of fancy within the novel. It is this second role
which this essay will strive to discuss and discover.

Schemas And Memory Essay
This essay will mainly focus on the effect of schemas on memory. Schemas describe a pattern of
behavior or thoughts that organizes categories of information and their relationships. Social and
cultural factors affect the schema, which means it influences what is saved in the memory. Information

They first tasted the ability of Kpelle children s memory and compared it with the US school students.
They made them remember an item from a word list organized into different categories. This test was
repeated many times. As a result, the Kpelle non schooled children hardly improved in the free recall

In other hand, the schooled Kpelle children performed the same as the US schooled children. The non

knowledges. The study has provide a cause and effect relationships and cultural validity. It is reliable
but it lacks control group and also it is not clear that weather culture or schooling influenced the

performance because of the task that was connected to the culture (culturally familiar task). Culture
affects schemas and the ability to remember. Memory is dependent on the surroundings and also

Why College Is Right For Everyone
Several ponder if college is right for everyone. Stephanie Owen, a senior research assistant at
Brookings Center on Children and Families at the time of the report s publication and she currently
serves as a research associate at the Urban Institute, and Isabel Sawhill, a co director of the Center on
Children and Families and a senior fellow in economic studies at Brookings, wrote an essay called
Should Everyone Go to College?, that gives insight on if college is right for every person. While they
show reason why college can be a smart investment, they also acknowledge that it is not for all. They
also bring attention to the fact that an enormous deal of thought needs to be put into attending to
college or not and all the questions that come after that decision. They also mention that it is common
knowledge that this topic is highly debated. Should Everyone Go to College? provides an affective
argument that features both sides of the debate. Sawhill and Owen achieve this by utilizing logos
(mostly) and pathos and ethos. Using a factual appeal along with emotional and ethical appeals
typically impacts the reader in at least one way. In Should Everyone Go to College? Owen and
Sawhill primarily use logos, or a factual appeal. Facts and statics cannot be argued but to a certain

Community Care Home Summary
The elders of St Luke s supervisory care home; a subsidized complex for those with mild cognitive
impairment, are empowered to design their own community norms, rules, and activities. Such self
determination is often discouraged for elders with medically determined cognitive limitations,

Persuasive Essay On Welfare
Welfare in the America is the government s attempt to help out the citizens that were and are
struggling financially in life. They provide cash and other benefits to people who are deemed
necessary of assistance. The idea behind the system is very good, it s to help people get back on their
feet so they can be a productive member of society. This includes finding work, providing for a family,
and maybe even giving back to the community. The problem is that there are a lot of holes that are
easily taken advantage of in the current system. It has gotten to the point where some people today
even call it a broken system. There a few simple changes that I think could definitely make a big
difference.
For starters, I think that it would be a good idea to occasionally drug test people that receive welfare
benefits. Not that it is really any of our business to know about that, but I do think that is is unfair of
people to apply for welfare and then spend all of that money on drugs and even alcohol. I would
assume that there is probably a law protecting this from happening, but if you need welfare then you
should put the money to good use. Spending the money on drugs is cheating the system, and is hurting
our society much more than it is helping it. I think that is one big hole in the system that needs to be
addressed in one way or another. Even if it not an easy fix, I think that is would be worth looking into
a little deeper. I m sure that this option has been evaluated at some

Comparing The Balconey Scene In Romeo And Juliet
The balconey scene in romeo and juliet is a well remembered scene in romeo and juliet. Although,
there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balconey scene
between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many
similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie
and the script. Some key details in the play are that romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is stalking
juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balconey near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on a
balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie
version, some key details are that romeo is hidden kind of on a vine, not so much hidden thought.(You
can see in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck
and a pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differnces
between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticible difference is that the setting is a lot
different. In the script, the setting is on the balconey, and is definetly a way less modern version,
almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back
porch with a pool. This takes away the whole cliche love scene in the original script, and as i feel takes

also white. The males have antlers and can weigh between one hundred fifty and three hundred
pounds. The females do not have antlers and weigh between ninety and two hundred pounds.
Whitetails have a potential life span of eleven or twelve years, but seldom live longer than five and

Elk live in a variety of habitats, from rain forests to alpine meadows and dry desert valleys to
hardwood forests. The elk s diet in the summer through fall consists of grasses and forbs. The winter
diet consists of grasses, shrubs, tree bark and twigs. The male elk are called bulls and the females are
called cows. Elk breed in the fall and the females can produce one and very rarely two offspring.
Gestation period is about eight months and the offspring weigh between thirty three and thirty five

These investigations led to production of 8.4 tons of gold annually [1]. These successes led several
other gold mining companies to follow with bioleaching processes. Today bioleaching of gold
containing ore has become increasingly important as bioleaching technology progresses and gold
reserves become increasingly depleted. 2.2 TYPES OF BIOLEACHING Types of bioleaching of gold
ore can be divided into three categories. Each method offers various advantages. Selection of the
bioleaching type for a specific application depends on several factors including: the ore composition,
gold content, surrounding environment and amount of available reserves. 2.2.1 BIOREACTORS
Bioreactors are employed when the value of the gold recovery is sufficient to justify the costs of
installing and operating the necessary equipment. Bioreactors are able to process less gold ore at one
time, but create a much faster oxidation process. This process usually utilizes higher grade ores
compared to heap leaching. This type of bioleaching is characterized by a reactor tank in which
relatively finely ground ore and nutrients are added, as well as bacteria containing solution to create a
slurry (Figure 1). This mixture is then mechanically or air agitated. [pic] Figure 1: Bioreactor tanks for

My study will contribute to research focused specifically on the correlation between international
relations, nationalism and policymaking towards foreign countries in China. In her book Powerful
Patriots: Nationalist Protest in China s foreign relations Jessica Chen Weiss provided an analysis of
China s management of nationalist and anti foreign protests and their diplomatic consequences. She
focuses on the protest aspect of nationalism in China, and how protests are used as a tool by Chinese
officials in favor of their own agendas. This study will try to provide a comprehensive frame of the
impact of Chinese nationalism on two specific issues in Chinese foreign policy, that is emergent
territorial concerns (e.g. South China Sea) and traditional security issues (e.g. Taiwan).

American Automobile Industry
As we move towards a globalized business world, new competitors have risen from developing
nations. These nations now pose a threat to the many industries still stuck in their old ways. One
industry in particular is the American auto industry that has seen a large fall in their earnings. Japan is
one nation who has revolutionized the auto industry through Toyota. The world is growing and with
this growth we see a need for energy and with it has come a high price at the pump. Ford Motor Co.
and General Motors Corp. due to a lack of planning, inability to adjust to this energy crisis, and other
problems have led to massive losses. With investors anxious for change, American auto industry in

Ford seems to be attempting to do just that with its recent hiring Moray Callum, previous general
manager of design at Mazda Motor Corp. Callum is credited with reviving Mazda s product portfolio
(The Wall Street Journal, 5/1/2006).
Beyond planning, cutting costs, globalization these automakers need leadership. In the long run we
may see new technologies that improve the American auto industry s power but for now what the
industry is a leadership. In recent months ford hired a number of new executives to head key areas
related to North American operations, such as product development, marketing, engineering and
manufacturing. GM has done the same. One person shaking things up at GM is their newest director,
Jerome York. The 67 year old former auto executive has helped engineer turnarounds at Chrysler and
International Business Machines Corp. He has been going over financial statements, seeking new
engines and transmissions, and has even met with GM s labor relations executives to deal with the
tense negotiations with the United Auto Workers, which is another ongoing problem for the company.
Outside directors are increasingly looking to him to set the tone and agenda (The Wall Street Journal,
5/1/2006). That is what GM needs, leadership that understands the automobile business and is willing
to fight for survival. Both Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation are in the midst of
restructuring. The American auto industry is beginning to

La Strada ( The Road )
La Strada (The Road) is a 1954 Italian drama film directed by Federico Fellini from his own
screenplay co written with Tullio Pinelli and Ennio Flaiano. The film portrays a naïve young woman
(Giulietta Masina) bought from her mother by a brutish strongman (Anthony
Quinn) who takes her with him on the road, encounters with his rival the Fool (Richard Basehart) and
ends with their destruction. It stars Giulietta Masina as Gelsomina, Anthony Quinn as
Zampanò, and Richard Basehart as Il Matto, the fool.(1) It was directed by Federico Fellini, and

Zampano (Anthony Quinn) is a Italian man who does a Strongman act as a street performer who goes
by the name Neanderthal Man. Giulietta Masina, who was Fellini s wife in real life; serves as
Zampano s side kick. Coming from a poor family, her mother sold her off to
Zampano and with no hesitation; she went along with the ordeal. Quinn was so hateful to her and
treated her like trash. Even though he was cruel to her, she remained loyal to him, made the best of the
situation, and eventually fell in love with him. She resembles Charlie Chaplin by the way that she
dresses, the makeup, and the way she walked with the oversized shoes. Tired of the abuse from
Zampano has been giving her, she eventually leaves him and goes to a town nearby where she is now
spellbound by the high wire act of The Fool played by Richard Basehart.
Eventually, Quinn finds her and forces her to come back to work with him where they started working
at a traveling circus. Below is one of the most notable quotes from the film:
The Fool

The Fool

Gelsomina

Organizational Change Models Grand Canyon University: LDR 615 March 12, 2014 Organizational
Change Models It is common knowledge by now that change is inevitable. It is everywhere around us.
Change can be fun, for example when a new version of the iPhone comes out. However, when change
affects what we do everyday, there usually is a lot of skepticism and resistance to change involved.
Apple employees were sure to feel enormous pressure as the sales of iPhones skyrocketed. To
implement change on an organizational scale it is always a good idea to have a framework for building

Thirdly, Lewin unheeded the role of politics and power in organizations and its conflictual nature.
Finally, Lewin was seen as supporting from a top down management driven approach to change and

effective approach to resolving social conflict through changing group behavior, promoting an ethical
and humanistic approach to change, and using his four mutually reinforcing concepts of: Field Theory,
Group Dynamics, Action Research as well as the 3 Step Model in combination for the process of
effective change (Levasseur, 2001). Bridge s Transition Model Bridges Transition Model, written by
William Bridges in 1991, is based on how people feel as they transition through changes (Evision,

One is Ending, Losing and Letting Go that begin as the initial stage of transition when people are
presented with a change. This is an uncomfortable stage as people are forced to give up something that
is familiar to them. It is common to experience many types of emotion in this stage such as fear,
denial, and anger. Stage two is the Neutral Zone where it is not uncommon to see confusion,
impatience and uncertainty. Experiencing resentment, low morale, decreased productivity, anxiety and
skepticism is often seen as the change is taking place. This is an important

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
J.D Salinger is a very known american writer whose literature became very popular. His books
revolved around many ideas such as his view on children. Children in many of his books have an
innocence that Salinger grasps onto and makes adults corrupt. Also, he shows how children are
teachers to adults but can still be foolish.
Purity in children are expressed throughout many stories by Salinger. In Catcher In the Rye, Holden
repeatedly expressed Did you ask her if she still keeps all her kings in back row? (42). He kept the
idea of purity with jane(the girl he asked about) and only saw her as still a child and not as a teenage
girl already having sex. The thought of someone maturing and losing their innocence is portrayed as a
bad thing in many stories. For instance, when the words F*ck You were written on the walls of
Holdens little sister Phoebe school, he instantly assumes someone older snuck in who doesn t belong
around children came and did it. In his mind, he doesn t see children writing swear word or having
sex; he sees them doing the opposite and trying to ignore them. When dealing with children, adults
tend to ignore reality and dumb down to their level and way of thinking. As shown in A Perfect Day
for Bananafish by Salinger, Seymour (the adult) meets with a Sybil (young girl) and makes up
imaginary creatures such as a Bananafish and they look for it. Also, they talk about things they enjoy,
but keeping a sense of humor :

migrant worker brings more benefits than loss. According to the definition of migrant from
International Labor Organization, migrant describes as a person who migrates from one country to

But the candidate has been wavering on his overall immigration platform of late. The Trump

There could certainly be a softening, Trump said in an August interview with Fox News s Sean

He then quickly refused to rule out some form of mass deportation, returning to a hardline approach

Essay on Two Words
Two Words
The short story Two Words by Isabel Allende is a tale about a girl who went by the name of Belisa
Crepusculario. She had extreme desire to be the best at selling words, since the first time she saw
words in the sports section of the newspaper. Belisa learned to read from a priest for 20 pesos and read
the dictionary until she knew it cold. She went from the top of blistering cold mountains to scorching
hot coasts selling her words in markets and fairs. Belisa s words became popular fast and everyone
knew who she was. People waited for her from year to year to hear her words.

I believe that the author tries to lead the reader in to sympathizing for the people when the author
wrote, The rebels swept into town like a stampeding herd.... Chickens took wing, dogs ran for their
lives, women and children scurried out of sight, until the only living soul left in the market was Belisa
Crepusculario. Because this quote from the story shows how everyone s scared of both the Colonel
and El Mulato except for Belisa.
The setting is important in this story cause the story is set in Spain back in the time when women had
no rights and were only used to cook and clean. But Belisa contradicts society by putting a curse on El
Mulato a mighty all powerful man who everyone is scared of except Belisa. When Belisa curses El
Mulato the once all mighty man El Mulato is in the hands of a woman who defeated him.
When reading this short story I think that we are suppose to feel surprised after reading the story from
Belisa s accomplishments because Belisa went from being unpopular and poor to being the most
widely known and the most powerful at the end of the story. The message in this story is aimed to the
reader and it says that anyone can do anything they want if they put there mind to it, and if u have the
determination you can accomplish a lot no matter what you are dealt with in life. Another message in
the story is that no matter how strong or powerful one is there will always be someone bigger and
better.

Elizabeth Bowen/The Demon Lover From the moment that my pen touched paper, I have thought of

throughout the short story is that Mrs. Drover feels a bad presence with her while she is getting things

The flashback Shown in The Demon Lover is when she has the memory of meeting the soldier and
agreeing to marry him and giving a hint that Mrs. Drover thinks the letter came from him. She also
explains a flashback by how the soldier would treat her showing that she might had made a promise to

Elizabeth Bowen uses ambiguity to create mystery to the story. As to how the letter arrived to the

story all bring a thought of mystery when reading it. The promise that Mrs. Drover could have made

Nonverbal messages occurs during nonverbal communication; Nonverbal communication is
communication without words. One communicates nonverbally when he/she gesture, smile or frown,
widen his/her eyes, move his/her chair closer to someone and so on (DeVito, 129). In the scene, body
communication and eye communication occurs during their conversation. To show that Jack is
pointing at Will, that standing on the entrance, Jack did not use any words but used his body
movement and eye contact on Joshamee. Joshamee receive Jack s message successfully and

communication. Body communication is the gestures he/she make with his/her body and his/her body

explained by using Occulesis s concept. Occulesis is the study of the messages communicated by the

Psychoanalysis Strength: Holland suggests we all read literature selectively, unconsciously projecting
our own fantasies into it and reshaping it to suit our individual identities (Rollin and West 12).
C. Analysis: Rollin and West state, If we acknowledge our personal involvement openly; if we make
clear the choices we have made and why we have made them, we have an opportunity to bring

D. Psychoanalysis Weakness: The inherent weakness surrounding Lacanian psychoanalytic theory is
in the basics of the theory formation. Lacan made selective use of citations for his theory and ignored
theories that may have unsubstantiated his claims. This lends itself to the realization of each
interpretation being solely related to the person doing the interpreting. (Billig 6)

Citizen Kane Reflection
The movie Citizen Kane targets an audience that in my opinion has to have an appreciation for film.
Someone who is studying film or has a passion for it will know exactly what he or she is watching.
Though, I am in a film class my taste buds haven t truly developed. I didn t understand the true nature
in which it was shot nor did I understand the plot very well. Disliking the movie was difficult due to
the fact I was trying admittedly hard to understand Gregg Tolland and the concept of the film. It was
written very well but in my opinion it was executed wrong. There were many parts of the movie that I
felt dragged on and were put in there as fluff whereas, the parts that needed elaborating were cut short.
Such as, the scene of Kane s mother giving him away where they could have showed her reasoning to
do so coupled with, a flashback of Kane s relationship with his father to establish a basis for his
persistent attempts to convince the mother otherwise. As well as, a glimpse in his teenage years and
why he wanted to become the head of the Inquirer, moreover, the odd choice of camera angles really
took me by surprise. It was difficult to follow what Gregg Tolland was trying to portray. To
emphasize, the musical scene where the camera seemed as if it was swaying back and forth and I didn
t understand why they showed Kane dancing in the reflection on the window while highlighting Mr.
Bernstein and Leland. With all these faults I found within the movie I do have to give a round

Emma Goldman s Critique Of Anarchism
Emma Goldman explains that Anarchism has been subjected to much hearsay and false interpretation,
and that it is most often criticized with being impractical. This is the critique that I most often hear and
rely upon myself, but she maintains that it is deeply practical in that it, more than any other idea, is
helping to do away with the wrong and foolish (55). Anarchism has been mischaracterized as being
synonymous with chaos and destruction, but in truth it at the very least deserves to be examined as a
legitimate political alternative. Her critiques of capitalism are strikingly relevant, as she focuses on the
exploitation of the individual within a capitalist system as a mere particle of a machine, with less will
and decision than his master of steel and iron (60). Her ideas on crime are also still relevant, as
economic oppression is often associated with crime (121). Obviously, her allusions to an industrial
capitalist system are somewhat outdated, but I would argue that they can still be applied to a service
economy. Though most people in the United States no longer work in industrial manufacturing,
service jobs can still exploit and control the wills of individuals. Though workers may no longer be
alienated from the material products of their labor, it is entirely possible that within a service economy
workers can become alienated from their own emotions, as it is often their job to serve the emotional
needs of others (think, for example, of a store clerk

How Did William Harvey Discovered The Circulatory System
Medical page William Harvey discovered the circulatory system. Bleeding frequently was actually
considered good for people s health. Doctors used drugs to make people throw up, pee in order to get
rid of being sick. Chemicals and minerals were used as medicine. Any form of medicine was rarely
effective. In China, powdered pearl was swallowed in order to get rid of toxins in the system, clean the
liver, reduce stress and to treat sore throat. It also helped cure burns, cuts, and sores. There was no
anesthesia and no one understood how infections happened, only the most desperate patients were
brave and only the strongest and bravest surgeons would do it. The surgical tools doctors used were
made of bone, flint, animal horn, sharp shards of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doctor priests had a higher status than some surgeons who were working more than skilled mechanics
of the body, working with their hands rather than their brains. Infections were very common to occur.
Surgery was the last option. They tried to not have to perform surgery. It was something to be replaced
because death was the only alternative besides surgery. Most procedures were simple and easy but that
doesn t necessarily mean they can t prevent infections. The doctors who took orders from God ranked
higher than the men who performed the surgeries with hope and skill but they lacked knowledge to
help the patient. One common treatment was taking blood from the patient. The four humors was
mucus, yellow bile, blood, and black bile. Some treatments can kill the patients before the disease
would. One of his findings was that blood was used many times did not make him stop from making
people from bleeding. He told his patients to eat smaller meals and to not drink alcohol. A small
opening connects each ventricle with the atrium. In each opening there is a value. The value makes
sure the blood flows in one direction. Blood moves from the atria to the vesicles. The large blood

Pros And Cons Of Being A Outsiders Retired Brigadier General Don Bacon, candidate for the United States Congress, announced today that he has received the endorsement of State Senator Beau McCoy of Omaha in his bid to represent Nebraska in the Second District. Don has spent almost thirty years defending our fellow Americans and our Constitution at home and abroad, said Senator McCoy. He has proven countless times that he has the courage to take on the biggest of challenges. Out of control spending, excessive regulations, and an administration that is blind to the dangers of the world appears to be the new norm in Washington. Now more than ever, we need conservative outsiders with proven leadership experience to tackle these problems in Congress. Don is the person who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. One Flew over the Cuckoo Nest Critical Analysis One flew over the cuckoo nest One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest The film One flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest accurately depicts and presents the various psychological issues, such as the use of psychosurgery, institutionalism inside the psychiatric hospital and the medical and societal attitudes towards patients during the 1960s. Set in 1963, the film uses characters patients and authority figures alike and setting to accurately depict various aspects of psychological treatments, theories and concepts applied, before more ethical practices were introduced later in the 20th century. The film itself was extremely powerful in presenting the methods it used by psychiatric asylums to treat its patients, and was credited with tarnishing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in this context that the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is identified as a possible medium to investigate the nature and effect of a psychiatric system as accurately portrayed through this particular film, The film depicts the psychiatric system as rigid, leaving patients with little room to express their individuality. The effect of the staff members behaviour on the patient s psychotherapeutic growth, highlights the staff s ignorance and lack of knowingness of their individual responsibility, contributing to the psychopathology of not only the patients , but also the system as a whole. The interactional style of the psychiatric staff, as portrayed in the film, serves to contribute to the deterioration of the mental and psychological well being of the patients , thus inhibiting their psychological growth. The majority of One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest takes place in the Day Room of the hospital. In addition, Swift was one of the most powerful writers of his time; able to rally people and nations around the caustic and moral views expressed in his works. Swift doesn t simply tell us his beliefs; he makes the reader sort it out through the context of the story. By placing his ideas and morals upon other characters, Swift himself stands distant from these scenes he writes about. In doing so, he artistically, yet implicitly, defines the interval between the normal and the absurd. We attain normality by guarding against pride, and this we could do easily by observing the distorted figures in comedy and satire (Quintana 39). An example where Swift uses his satire in a crafty, implicit way is in one of his first major works, A Tale of A Tub. The book is about exposing the corruption and abuses of religion at the time. In section VI of the book, Swift takes the form of an earnest storyteller but in fact he is telling the history of the major Christian Churches. The three main characters are obviously personas for the three main churches at the time. There is Peter, who in truth represents the Roman Catholic Church; Martin, who is named after the Protestant/Lutheran/Anglican Church; and Jack, who is named after Calvinism and the other nonconformist Christian religions. They provide cash and other benefits to people who are deemed necessary of assistance. The idea behind the system is very good, it s to help people get back on their feet so they can be a productive member of society. This includes finding work, providing for a family, and maybe even giving back to the community. The problem is that there are a lot of holes that are easily taken advantage of in the current system. It has gotten to the point where some people today even call it a broken system. There a few simple changes that I think could definitely make a big difference. For starters, I think that it would be a good idea to occasionally drug test people that receive welfare benefits. Not that it is really any of our business to know about that, but I do think that is is unfair of people to apply for welfare and then spend all of that money on drugs and even alcohol. I would assume that there is probably a law protecting this from happening, but if you need welfare then you should put the money to good use. Spending the money on drugs is cheating the system, and is hurting our society much more than it is helping it. This is an uncomfortable stage as people are forced to give up something that is familiar to them. It is common to experience many types of emotion in this stage such as fear, denial, and anger. • 26. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger J.D Salinger is a very known american writer whose literature became very popular. His books revolved around many ideas such as his view on children. Children in many of his books have an innocence that Salinger grasps onto and makes adults corrupt. Also, he shows how children are teachers to adults but can still be foolish. Purity in children are expressed throughout many stories by Salinger. In Catcher In the Rye, Holden repeatedly expressed Did you ask her if she still keeps all her kings in back row? (42). He kept the idea of purity with jane(the girl he asked about) and only saw her as still a child and not as a teenage girl already having sex. The thought of someone maturing and losing their innocence is portrayed as a bad thing in many stories. For instance, when the words F*ck You were written on the walls of Holdens little sister Phoebe school, he instantly assumes someone older snuck in who doesn t belong around children came and did it. In his mind, he doesn t see children writing swear word or having sex; he sees them doing the opposite and trying to ignore them. When dealing with children, adults tend to ignore reality and dumb down to their level and way of thinking. As shown in A Perfect Day for Bananafish by Salinger, Seymour (the adult) meets with a Sybil (young girl) and makes up imaginary creatures such as a Bananafish and they look for it. Also, they talk about things they enjoy, but keeping a sense of humor : Do you like wax? Sybil asked. Do I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emma Goldman s Critique Of Anarchism Emma Goldman explains that Anarchism has been subjected to much hearsay and false interpretation, and that it is most often criticized with being impractical. This is the critique that I most often hear and rely upon myself, but she maintains that it is deeply practical in that it, more than any other idea, is helping to do away with the wrong and foolish (55). Anarchism has been mischaracterized as being synonymous with chaos and destruction, but in truth it at the very least deserves to be examined as a legitimate political alternative. Her critiques of capitalism are strikingly relevant, as she focuses on the exploitation of the individual within a capitalist system as a mere particle of a machine, with less will and decision than his master of steel and iron (60). Her ideas on crime are also still relevant, as economic oppression is often associated with crime (121). Obviously, her allusions to an industrial capitalist system are somewhat outdated, but I would argue that they can still be applied to a service economy. Though most people in the United States no longer work in industrial manufacturing, service jobs can still exploit and control the wills of individuals. Though workers may no longer be alienated from the material products of their labor, it is entirely possible that within a service economy workers can become alienated from their own emotions, as it is often their job to serve the emotional needs of others (think, for example, of a store clerk ...
