Cultural Relativism Vs Divine Command Theory
The biggest difference between Cultural Relativism and the Divine Command Theory is that Divine
Command Theory believes that rightness and morality is defined by and from God, Cultural
Relativism believes that rightness and morality is defined by cultures themselves.
Cultural Relativism is the idea that what is right and what is wrong depends on what culture you live
in. James Rachels in The Elements of Moral Philosophy used an example of Ancient Greeks and the
Callatians and their disposal of the dead. The Greeks believed that the most respectful way to honor
the dead is to cremate the body; the Callatians thought differently, they believe that the most respectful
way to honor the dead as to eat the body of the dead so that the family would

House On Mango Street Compare And Contrast Essay
According to talkproverty.org 21.4% of Hispanics in America are living in poverty. A book call The
House on Mango Street and a movie call Stand and Deliver, represent the struggle of being a Hispanic
in America. The House on Mango Street is similar to the movie, Stand and Deliver because the
characters were judged based on where they lives, the characters have low self esteem, and the
females were expected to take care of family. The House on Mango Street is also different from the
movie, Stand and Deliver, because of the encouragement the characters received by adults, the
relationships the characters build, and the different viewpoint the characters have on where they will
be in the future. In my opinion, The House on Mango Street interests me more than Stand and Deliver,
because the book leaves you wondering what is going to happen next, allows you to imagine the
characters, and it has different storylines. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book and movie the characters are judged based on where they lived. In the movie, the district
did not believe that the students received the high test scores because they lived in poverty. Similar to,
how the woman did not allow Esperanza to sit in the cool kids area for lunch since she lived in the
apartments. From Stand and Deliver, Pancho did not think he was smart enough to solve the calculus
equation on the board. Compared to, Esperanza, who called her feet ugly, we can infer that both
characters have low self esteem. The last similarity I want to talk about is the how the female
characters were expected to take care of their family. Esperanza had to take care of her sister in the
book just as how Lupe had to take care of her siblings because her mom comes home late. This shows
that females are expected to take care of

I will need to consider everybody s individual needs and plan things that everybody can be included in
as this will promote equality too. A good example of this is (Gravells A, 2008). A group of leaners
wish to go out for dinner. One is vegetarian, another is dairy intolerant and a third does not eat fish.
They all want to eat at the same restaurant and choose from the same menu and be treated equally,

Canadian Prime Minister s Power
The prime minister has a significant amount of power within the Canadian government. Some of the
sources of the prime minister s powers are the number of seats in the House of Commons he and his
party has, his ability to give push/give priority to certain government agendas, and his ability to
appoint different governmental positions. For a politician to hold the office of PM his party must hold
the majority of the seats in the house; this means that by convention his party must be in solidarity
with his decisions, which gives the PM s the loyal support of his party. Another power of the PM is the
ability to put forward government agendas that they believe should be prioritized. The PM also has the

Examples Of Poverty In America
Poverty in America: Is the American Dream an Impossible One? America, a land full of promises that
are not granted elsewhere. Recently what many refer to as the American Dream is becoming an
impossible dream. For the reason that, people now cannot get ahead in life financially, students are
having a debt that is holding them back, and medical care is becoming unaffordable. Money seems to
be one of the problems in reaching that dream. Financially, the people are struggling to reach that
dream. According to the Oxford Journals, The middle class has not seen it wage rise in 15 years...the
middle class in this nation is falling . The middle class has fallen ever since a crisis in 2008 that is
making that dream disappear slowly. On top of the middle class having problem the rate of income has
gone up. Profits rose five times faster than wages , was a comment Goldman Sachs said about the
rising of income. In the financial part of the world the American dream is becoming an endless road.

Literature Review On Esterification Of Methanol
2.10 Literature reviews Alexandra et al, investigated the esterification of oleic acid with methanol by

Comparing Different Ways of Supplying Water to Kenya
ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Write a report that compares two or three different ways to supply water in
this region. At the end of the report, make a recommendation of the best method of water provision.
1. Introduction Water is one of the vital substances on earth and according to Kreger (2004) Actually,
only 1% of the world s water is usable to us. About 97% is salty seawater, and 2% is frozen in glaciers
and polar ice caps. Thus that 1% of the world s water supply is a precious commodity necessary for
our survival. All humans on earth need water to survive. A human can go for weeks without food but

4.2 Desalination Desalination is the process in which excess salt water and other minerals are removed
from water to make it consumable (Rosadoi, Moraisii, 2010). This source of water is very expensive
to operate in rural areas of Kenya because the materials and running cost is on the high side. It has a
lot of environmental impact, positively it is an additional source of water supply and it helps to keep
the groundwater aquifers from going dry however the side effect of desalination is that it leads to the
emission of greenhouse gases, large production of concentrated brine, discharge of salt by product
which is harmful to people residing around. Water born diseases will be reduced drastically and also
creates job opportunities due to large industrial plants for processing. Source of steady electricity
power to make this plant work will be a major concern and a large number of inhabitants make lack
the technological knowledge to operate the desalination plants.

Pre-Disciplinary Communication Reflection
On August 31, 2017 I spoke with Officer Burns via telephone in regards to his pending discipline and
some concerns that had been brought to my attention by fellow officers and supervisors. The first
portion of the conversation centered on his pending discipline and determining a date that would be
acceptable for him to attend a pre disciplinary hearing with Captain Berger to discuss the alleged
violations. During this conversation I explained the severity of the violations and that based upon the
number of violations within the past twelve months he will subject to the progressive discipline policy.
It was stressed to Officer Burns that he could also be subject to termination in the future if his
performance did not improve and he committed another violation. Officer Burns acknowledged that he
understood the severity of the violations and acknowledged that he was aware of the progressive
discipline policy of the city. After discussing the policy violations and determining an acceptable date
for the pre disciplinary hearing, I segued to the topic of the performance concerns that were brought to
my attention.
The first instance I spoke with Officer Burns about was the concerns that were brought up by Sgt.
Adam Smotrich. Sgt. Smotrich detailed in a message to me that while on a call with Officer Burns
involving an individual experiencing an emotional crisis and wielding a metal pipe, he became
increasingly concerned that Officer Burns would be unable to defend himself. The reason for this
concern was based upon the perceived physical limitations demonstrated by Officer Burns on the call.
Sgt. Smotrich noted a noticeable limp and lack of ability to move laterally or backwards in a
reasonably quick manner.
This caused Sgt. Smotrich concern because he did not want Officer Burns to fall and be unable to
defend himself if the subject advanced quickly while wielding a pipe. Sgt. Smotrich indicated he felt
that Officer Burns would have been unable to adequately defend himself or assist him if he needed it.
Sgt. Smotrich also noticed that after Officer Burns handcuffed the subject who was on the ground in a
prone position, he labored to successfully get up without assistance. Sgt. Smotrich felt it

Differences Of Myths
It can be seen that every culture have historical stories associated with their origin that have been
passed from one generation to another. Some among these are classified as legends, while others are
called as myths. These stories mostly consist of a superman like character that breaks all logic and
rules of nature. According to me, History is a concern which raises a number of issues in factual way
where sources come from primary sources or objective secondary sources. History is considered as an
accurate guide to the past which is read to explain, analyze and describe the truths of the past. On the
other hand, Myths only tells about a few daily occurrences through very subjective ways. The sources
for myths come from word of mouth, imagination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Reoccurring Motifs In Literature
There are many different motifs themes in literature, but some of them are reoccurring. Examples of
this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen
Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl, Mattie, who lives in
Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death, is about Prince Prospero,
and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death; Pestilence is a poem written about
the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. Some of the reoccurring motifs are fear, visions of America,
and science. To start off, one of the reoccurring motifs is the idea of fear the theme that pertains to the
motif, is fear is stronger than the feared. Anderson has almost written her book around this idea,

She is scared because she feels abandoned and alone, not because she has seen a dead body or saw her
mother order her to leave her alone. Poe has also demonstrated this idea of fear being stronger than the
feared in his book. In his short story it illustrates, All of these and security were within. Without was
the Red Death. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they were, being a chef would be a
horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear is the thought of themselves
getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in
his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time
had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. Just like every
other passage, the people are not scared of a bunch of priests leaving their jobs, they fear the thought
that not even Gods teachers are safe from this disease, so since the priests are fleeing the city, the

Importance Of Winter Solstice
Celebrating Pagan Yule, a Winter Solstice Holiday The winter solstice (also called midwinter) is a
celebration to celebrate the longest night of year, and is on December 21st or the 22nd. Officially the
first day of winter, the winter solstice occurs when the North Pole is tilted 23.5 degrees away from the
sun (precisely. *sips daintily from teacup*) and is the dark night of our souls . It celebrates the birth of
the new solar year and the beginning of winter. The winter solstice has been celebrated for many
years. There have been many cultural and religious traditions, and some of them are still alive (note
that I said some, not all). In many places, people honor this day with different kinds of festivals.
For example, in China and Taiwan and a few other countries celebrate the Dongzhi Festival, where
families and relatives get together and eat and generally have a good time together. Or maybe the old
Western Christian tradition, Blue Christmas, where families mourn and grieve for their dead relatives
or loved ones and have a good time . Yeah, right. Not every holiday is a cheery one. But no, you re not
reading about the Dongzhi Festival, or Blue Christmas and such. This is all about the Pagan Yule
festival. From festivals, feasts, songs, and dances, Yule, Yule Fest, or Yuletide, is an old Norse
celebration that is still celebrated today (Just not as much as Christmas, though).
Today, many people in Western based cultures refer to this holiday as Christmas . In

Medical Uses of Camomile
Camomile is a European flower in the daisy family. Looking very similar to the daisy, it contains it s
white and yellow colors. This extremely useful plant has been used over generations on both children
and adults. Known for its ways to cure symptoms of illness, its healing powers are what made it most
popular. One of it s most popular uses if for relieving stress and anxiety. Containing relaxants, it calms
the person and maybe even sleepy. Chamomile also helps with stomach pains and digestive issues.
The oils it contains soothes and settles the stomach, preventing any aches or pains. Topically, it can be
used for some skin conditions, such as rashes. Also helping with the healing of wounds, it stops
irritation and itchiness. Mouth ulcers, a result of cancer treatments, can also be treated with Camomile.
Many are still researching the properties of Chamomile and trying to find out what else it can do.
Chamomile comes in many forms. The most well known is it s tea. Boiled in water, this is a simple
and beneficial way to receive Chamomile s healing properties. If grown in a garden, the flowers can
just be added into the boiled water, but tea bags can be bought at local stores. The flower heads are the
only part used in tea, but the whole flower is useful. Ointment and skin cream is also made with the

The Invention Of A Handheld Electric Mixer
In the beginning of time mixers were not electrical like they are now a days really easy for people to
use. The egg beaters were hand cranked, Hand cranks don t require electricity, there is a handle you
hold it with and a little knob that you twist so it could mix the ingredients together. In 1856, a
Maryland Tinner named Ralph Collier was the man who invented hand cranked egg beaters. The hand
cranked egg beaters were used by hand nothing electrical in them, but a more years went by people
started inventing so much more mixers and they were electrical of different kind. A handheld electric
mixer is basically an electrical mixer that has a handle and someone holds it while the mixer is mixing
the eggs and other things. Mixers are of course something used in the kitchen and only the kitchen.
People or chiefs use it for baking because it makes the dough in a better smoother texture than if it
was hand mixed. A classical American mixer brand is Dover stamping company, the company bought
the patent egg beaters in 1859. An American man named Rufus Eastman invented the first mixer
which was in 1885. The first man to invent electric mixer was named Herbert Johnson that was in

President Johnson and Westmoreland to take back the offensive in the war. In just two months after
the attack, President Johnson announced that bombing would not take place below the 20th parallel
which saved North Vietnam 90% of their territory so supplies and men could be moved with ease. The
aftermath also killed a lot of morale for the troops and many of them would contribute to fragging

An Analysis Of Jo March In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Gillian Jacobs, an American actress, once said I think there s a sort of satisfaction in defying people s
expectations (Jacobs 9). Jo March is a perfect example of how one can find vindication in not doing
what is expected of he or she. Jo March is a defiant character in the novel Little Women written by
Louisa May Alcott. This novel tells the story of four young sisters and their mother, from Concord,
Massachusetts, growing and maturing into ladies. The tight knit family struggles with living through
the years without their father because of the Civil War. During this time, women were expected to
follow certain rules. In fact, they were expected to feel ashamed if they did not follow these
guidelines. Throughout the novel, one can see how Jo March defies the traditional domestic role of a
women in her time period, the 19th century, by having a masculine personality and bringing in an
income for her family. The first example of how Josephine March goes against the traditional role of a
young women in this time period is her masculine personality. This attitude would stand out in this
time period because ladies were expected to wear big long dresses with their hair nicely done, and go
to events, such as balls, every weekend. Jo, however, is the exact opposite of that stereotype.
Josephine first shows signs of having a masculine personality when explaining that she would prefer if
everyone started calling her Jo, a nickname which is definitely more manly than Josephine

communist government. China s current growth rate for GDP is recorded as being 7.7% in 2013 and
has continued to slowdown over recent years due to a global economic slowdown. Trade By 2013

The expansion of china s exports and imports from 2005 to 2012 is phenomenal. In 2005 exports were

Parenthood And Its Effects On The United States
Planned Parenthood There is an ongoing argument about the funding of Planned Parenthood in the
United States. There are many reasons that some people do not want to fund it. One of those reasons is
because Planned Parenthood offers abortions to women. There are people who believe that these
operations should be shut down to rid our country of abortions. However, Planned Parenthood offers
much more than just abortions in their clinics. Planned Parenthood should be funded because of the
examinations and resources they provide, the education they give, and because it is a low income
health center.
Planned Parenthood offers access to many important health examinations, procedures, treatments and
medications. They offer breast cancer and cervical cancer exams. They test for STI s, HPV and UTI s
to name a few. All of these tests and exams are preventative actions to not only see if someone has a
health issue, but also to prevent health issues. They provide birth control to women who are not ready
to have children. They also offer abortions. However, Planned Parenthood has decreased the number
of abortions per year overall, including Vermont where Title X was passed to fund operations such as
Planned Parenthood. This is because Planned Parenthood offers birth control therefore preventing
unwanted pregnancies which may have ended in abortion (Zoppo 497). It is also important to note that
Federal funding of Planned Parenthood does not fund abortions except for cases of rape,

Compare And Contrast The Three Stages Of Domestic Abuse
Why Signs of Domestic Abuse Go Unnoticed and How to Solve the Social Problem With Support
from Professional Organizations and Communities
Introduction
In the United States, domestic abuse affects lives of thousands of victims daily. There have been
suggestions that this is an issue that individuals should face on a personal level; however, it is a social
problem that warrants broad level support in addressing. The case can be made that solving the social
problem requires a process that includes implementing vigorous steps towards reducing common
cultural misconceptions of how victims experience domestic abuse. Because domestic abuse affects
the lives of many victims who range in age, gender, and occupation, recognizing the oft ignored

Domestic abuse has the potential to transfer into the semi public realm of the workplace from the
private realm of the home (MacGregor, Wathen, and MacQuarrie 245). Unfortunately, no studies to

workplace. Upon acknowledging this research gap, victims of domestic abuse report that some
coworkers bear the brunt of criticism and harassment from intimate partners (245). Likewise,

Analysis Of Eight Ways Small Businesses Can Build An Email...
Goal: Eight Ways Small Businesses can Build an Email List Faster Total Words in this Document: 892
Title: Eight Ways Small Businesses can Build an Email List Faster Email marketing is effective. In
order for this channel to deliver results, you need to create an email list. Without a list of valid email
addresses, the most effective email outreach will fall flat. Here are eight tips small businesses can use
to quickly build an effective email list. Offer More In Depth Information Write two blog posts on the
same topic. Make one general and one more in depth. At the end of the blog post, offer readers the
option to receive the more in depth content in exchange for their email address. Readers will receive

Use Pop Ups to Your Advantage Use a pop up on your site to add users to your email list. This method
is effective for rounding up lots of useful leads. Make sure you have a message in your pop up that is
catchy and consise. That way, the people who visit your site will likley be interested in your business
and you will gain quality leads. Social Metrics Leverage your followers to establish your brand as an
industry expert. When readers see how many followers and positive ratings you have on various social
media platforms, they will realize the value you have to offer. Make your numbers look impressive by
combining them. For example, instead of saying you have 10,000 followers each on FaceBook,
Twitter and LinkedIn, go with 30,000 followers on social media. The higher the number you provide,
the more impressive it will be. So, put your followers to work for your brand when you solicit emails
for your subscription list. Play Up Your Client List In the same way the number of of followers you
have serves as an endorsement, your client list can help garner interest in your company. This strategy
is particularly effective if you have worked with leading brands in your industry. Name dropping well
known brands sends the message that your company is effective and amongst the leaders in your
industry. Often, this strategy can be enough to entice users to sign up for your

Pricing Strategy and Distribution
Nature Beauty Price strategy will be the penetration theory for my product. Penetration is pricing low
to stimulate the sales, encourage trail, and trigger by word of mouth. Nature Beauty s mineral powder
foundation will not be a new product that no company has similar to. We will need to start by gaining
the trust of the consumers by word of mouth and different marketing strategies to the targeted
customers. This way once the product has some buzz and customers appreciate the products value, we
can price the mineral powder foundation at higher price do to the demand of the product. The
competing cosmetic company has a similar product that claims help the skin improve. This company
will be established in the cosmetic industry and customers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even though it s easier to start high and lower prices later down the line, depending on sales
of the products, we don t want to jump the broom on the price set. We believe that we meet the
expectation for a higher price and will strive to become a brand that can set a premium price like it
leading competitors. Nature Beauty does want to use the theory framing on the products that
compliments the mineral powder foundation. Framing is pricing higher prices and then discount to
make the consumers feel better. There will be promotions that will give consumers the chance to try
these products such lotion, facial cleanser, beauty bar soap, make up remover wipes, and future idea
products for free or at a discounted price. But they will not always be on sale. Nature beauty will push
these products out individually starting out high then discounting them after we introduced the new
and latest product.
Legal issues and Ethical issues in pricing tactics are very slim. We are pricing competitively against
our competitors. Nature Beauty is not pricing to high and pricing to low. We believe that we are taking
a competitive approach against the leading competition. There shouldn t be any ethical issues with the
pricing either.

Strategy Implementation
Organizations successful at strategy implementation effectively manage six key supporting factors : 1.
Action Planning 2. Organization Structure 3. Human Resources 4. The Annual Business Plan 5.
Monitoring and Control 6. Linkage. | | | |
Action PlanningFirst, organizations successful at implementing strategy develop detailed action

First, consideration of human resources requires that management think about the organization s
communication needs. That they articulate the strategies so that those charged with developing the
corresponding action steps (tactics) fully understand the strategy they re to implement.Second,
managers successful at implementation are aware of the effects each new strategy will have on their
human resource needs. They ask themselves the questions... How much change does this strategy call
for? And, How quickly must we provide for that change? And, What are the human resource
implications of our answers to those two questions? In answering these questions, they ll decide
whether to allow time for employees to grow through experience, to introduce training, or to hire new
employees. The Annual Business PlanOrganizations successful at implementation are aware of their
need to fund their intended strategies. And they begin to think about that necessary financial
commitment early in the planning process. First, they ballpark the financial requirements when they
first develop their strategy. Later when developing their action plans, they firm up that commitment.
As a client of ours explains, they dollarize their strategy. That way, they link their strategic plan to
their annual business plan (and their budget). And they eliminate the surprises they might otherwise
receive at budgeting time.Monitoring

Jackson vs. Calhoun and the Nullification Crisis
It has been rare in American history for presidents and vice presidents not to get along, but it has
happened on a few occasions: Adams and Jefferson, Kennedy and Johnson, and Eisenhower and
Nixon are a few examples (Jackson vs. Calhoun Part 1 1). However, the most controversial
relationship between president and his assistant was between Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun.
Their disagreements began very early on in Jackson s administration, and lasted until after the
resolution of the Nullification Crisis. Nullification is the refusal of a state to recognize a federal law
within its boundaries and deem that law unconstitutional. In this case, South Carolina, led by John C.
Calhoun, refused to recognize the protective tariffs in 1828, and ... Show more content on

We do further declare that we will not submit to the application of force on the part of the Federal
Government (Hamilton 1). Jackson, appalled by this direct threat to the Union and the Federal
Government, was determined to put Calhoun in his place and do anything he could to preserve the
Union.
Although Calhoun had stated in his Ordinance that South Carolina would not respond to any forceful
acts by the government to attempt to get Calhoun to back down, Jackson found a way to outsmart his
opponent. Jackson had congress pass a bill in 1833, which allowed him to use soldiers to enforce the
tariff measures (Nullification Crisis 1). After the Force Bill was passed, Jackson sent several warships
and hundreds of soldiers to Charleston to enforce the laws of the government. Some people argue that
what Jackson did was wrong because based on the constitution, Calhoun had the right to declare
Nullification for South Carolina. However, what Jackson did was also constitutional and enabled the
United States of America to remain as one. Had Jackson not passed the Force Bill immediately after
South Carolina s Ordinance was received, Calhoun s scheme may have succeeded and South Carolina

Economic Crisis In The United States
The near collapse of the financial system in the United States was the most substantial economic crisis
in the U.S. since the Great Depression of the 1920s and 1930s. Since the crisis began in late 2007,
more than 6 million Americans had lost their jobs, large and important financial institutions failed, and
trillions of dollars in savings and retirement accounts had been lost. It is generally accepted that
problems in the United States housing market are at the root of the current United States and global
financial crisis. Regardless the causes and responsibilities, what is clear is that the result is a seriously
weakened global financial system. It is important to thoroughly study the causes and consequences of

financial crisis, some questions had formed. Are the credit losses behind us? So far it seems that our
economy could see more problems with residential real estate. The chance that shocks related to
commercial real estate, industrial loans, and consumer credit cards could arise and cause an even
worse problem. If the U.S. markets experience losses in any of these areas similar to what was
experienced, the problems could resurface. When did the job markets recover? In June of 2009, the
national unemployment rate stood at 9.5% with 14.7 million Americans unemployed^^. With the rate
of unemployment so high, many consumers would not have had the funds to pay for mortgage and
credit card obligations. Consumer spending accounts for about two thirds^^ of the GDP(What is the
GDP). That ultimately means that the economy needs Americans to spend more to maintain economic
activity, which means that the government had to create jobs and opportunities to the unemployed.
Have any other institutions fail during this time of crisis? Large financial corporations such as
Citigroup and Bank of America appeared to have survived the crisis. Yet, smaller institutions like JP
Morgan had a few concerns about their financial status, but there is still an uncertainty to the security

Travelling As A Common Hobby
How Travel has Evolved from Necessity to Pleasure People travel to various destinations for different
reasons, but the ultimate goal of most travelers, is to explore the sites of interests that they may not
have seen before. Although almost everyone travels on a daily basis to go to their offices, businesses,
work, or school, the trends indicate that travelling for pleasure has become a common hobby (Pooley).
Travelling has evolved in many aspects, including the reasons for travelling and efficiency with which
people can travel from one location to another. In this paper, the meaning of travelling to different
people, changes in travelling for America ns over the years, and the way travelling for leisure came
about will be discussed. Travelling means different things to different people. For example, there is a
group of travelers that is comprised of people who lead a nomadic lifestyle. These people enjoy
diversity and they are likely to consider travelling as a way of life (Dunn). Another category of
travelers is a group of people who work away from their relatives. This group of people often travels
upcountry, not just to meet their relatives, but also to e1tjoy the rural environment. In addition, the
working class is likely to take vacations and travel to new places. They consider travelling as an
opportunity to take a break from work, and enjoy an environment that is different from their routine
and work settings. Moreover, there are some people who work in

Blood Of Olympus Essay
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians craze started in 2005 and finally ended with grand total of 10
books in 2014. The series, which was broken into two parts, follows young demigods as they work to
save the world, all while fighting hordes of monsters and dealing with temperamental gods. All the
books were well liked except for the final book: Blood of Olympus; which faced hard critiques from
longtime fans. The preceding four books introduced seven new characters that were detrimental to the
storyline and kept 3 vital characters from the previous series. The novels leading up to the final end all
gradually foreshadowed and built suspense. Unfortunately the finale was a disappointment. Majority
of the fans agree: the book was rushed. The climaxes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the only thing that kept me reading was Nico di Angelo, a son of Hades, who was finally
explored as a character. Some of only nice things I can say about Blood of Olympus are associated
with Nico, which I do not mind as he is a very important, valuable character. I would have enjoyed the
book more had it been paced out and not rushed while still involving all of the great character
developments and conflicts. Blood of Olympus is full of character conflicts which are explored
correctly. ADHD is explained well with Leo s thoughts occupied with Calypso; which is only an
example of what makes an already relatable set of characters even better. The book was butchered by
fans, and with reason. Many people would never recommend it other readers because of its fast nature
and habit of ignoring characters. I, on the other hand, would definitely recommend it. The book may
be rushed and a least favorite, but it ends the story well. A story that started small and grew into
something big finally reached its sad end. Despite not being the series best, Blood of Olympus knows
how to end a story leaving the reader grasping for

Common Wealth Address ( 1932 )
10.In F. D. R. s Common Wealth Address (1932) he discusses the problems with government and their
solutions starting with the problem that a majority of the men who created national government were
more than not, cruel in how they set things up. The solution is that while they were cruel, they set up
central government, which was a safe haven for the people. The central government kept out national
government to a point on certain issues such as civil disputes, war and keeping the peace. The national
government by many was also thought to only benefit the few and many of those who founded it to
keep the balance of power just the central governments were also key. The creation of the state or
central government balanced the power against the national government Another problem that was
foreseen in the government was the belief that popular government was dangerous and unfeasible.
Government could be a great or awful thing and protecting people from government in firing on their
rights and becoming an awful thing was Jefferson in the rights that needed to be set. His first rights
included those under the name personal competency and property rights with these right people to an
extent could live their life the way they see fit, but still needed the government in order to protect
those rights and to make sure other powers or people, including the government itself could not
infringe upon them. The government was set to not take people s rights, but to give and protect them,

The Gangster Film Genre Of The Mafia
The gangster film genre is a subgenre of the crime film, dealing with organized crime and more often
than not, the Mafia. Though gangster films have their root in the silent era, the genre became widely
popular in the 1930 s Hollywood Studio era, which is characterized by the Hollywood Genre System.
Genre films offered economic advantages, including the repeated use of standardized themes,
elements, characters and iconography. Additionally, genre films were easily marketable, as audiences
knew what to expect from each genre. If a viewer enjoyed one film from a particular genre, they were
likely to enjoy any other film falling into that genre. Specific themes and elements can be readily
identified in gangster films. For one, they commonly question the meaning of success and failure in
terms of the American dream. Warshow asserts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dissatisfied with modern American life, he uses his methods of criminality and violence in an attempt
to overcome the system, redefine his circumstances, achieve success on his own terms and ultimately
control the reality he lives in. The world is his. His success is barely defined, however it is usually
characterized by violence and criminality without impunity and acquisition of material goods. As his

Compulsory Voting Vs. Mandatory Voting
According to Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary, the definition of a vote is, A formal indication of
a choice between two or more candidates or courses of action, expressed typically through a ballot or
a show of hands or by voice. When forced to make a choice, are you still making that choice?
Compulsory voting, or mandatory voting, is a system in which electors are required to vote in
elections or at least attend a polling place on Election Day. If a voter does not appear at a polling
place, and is eligible to vote, he or she may have to contribute community service or fines. This voting
system exists in about a quarter of all democracies in the world. The core goals of compulsory voting
are to increase voter turnout and to have an election reflect the will of all citizens. However, it is
improbable that this form of voting would truly change the government to be more inclusive of those
non voters than it is currently. Mandatory voting goes against American principals and American
citizens that avoid casting their ballots intentionally. Compulsory voting would fail to solve any actual
issues, and could cause even more to surface. Compulsory voting is principally undemocratic freedom
of choice must include the freedom not to choose. Forcing citizens to vote violates individual freedom,
a key staple of American democracy. Voting must be left to the individual to choose to participate or
not to participate because the right to vote or not is protected by the

Death Of The Butterflies Patria Quotes
That moment, I understood her hatred. My family had not been personally hurt by Trujillo, just as
before losing my baby, Jesus had not taken anything away from me. But others had been suffering
great losses (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53). This quote had been stated by Patria in relation to religion.
I had heard, but I had not believed. Snug in my heart, fondling my pearl, I had ignored their cries of
desolation. How could our loving, all powerful Father allow us to suffer so? I looked up, challenging
Him. And the two faces had merged! (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53)
This image illustrates how Trujillo s system truly brunts the lives of Patria, her sisters, and their fellow
people. To them, Trujillo is almost godlike. He usually gives them arcane commandments, smites
those who contravene his power, and is delimited by wealth. Patria shows her disbelief in how
callously God is behaving toward her because of her child s death. Throughout In the Time of the
Butterflies, Julia Alvarez s Patria Mirabal develops from an optimistic young Catholic girl to a woman
who doubts; subsequently, that educators can further come to understand the influence of God on one

since he had been from a prosperous family. On the other hand, after experiencing a loss, she begins to
feel compassion. Alvarez uses this excerpt to inform educators that although one is taught moral
behavior as an adolescent, it is up to the individual to steadily exemplify good behavior throughout

Machiavelli s The Prince And Leviathan
Although misunderstood when introduced to society during their time, Niccolo Machiavelli s The
Prince and Thomas Hobbes Leviathan have been two of the most influential political works in history.
The Prince and Leviathan, although seen as immoral and almost wicked works of their time, have
guided many political thinkers, even America s own Thomas Jefferson, on the subject of governance
and power. This paper will compare the similarities and differences between both works in terms of
the historical settings in which they were written as well as between the two distinct political
philosophies presented by each man. More specifically, this paper will differentiate the purpose of
power between Machiavelli s theory of an absolute ruler separated from morals and ethics compared
to Hobbes reasoning for a necessary and absolute ruler to put an end to the chaotic state of nature he
presents.
Identification of Documents
The Prince, written by Niccolo Machiavelli in 1513 in his native Italian language, was a book
dedicated to Florence s then leader Lorenzo de Medici in an effort for Machiavelli to gain a position in
Florence s new government. The book was intended to help guide Lorenzo and other present and
future leaders in gaining and maintaining power, more specifically to aid Lorenzo in unifying Italy
under one ruler. Machiavelli lived during a time of great political strife in Italy as the small city states
of Italy, the Papal States, and the powerful states of Spain and

  • 2. Cultural Relativism Vs Divine Command Theory The biggest difference between Cultural Relativism and the Divine Command Theory is that Divine Command Theory believes that rightness and morality is defined by and from God, Cultural Relativism believes that rightness and morality is defined by cultures themselves. Cultural Relativism is the idea that what is right and what is wrong depends on what culture you live in. James Rachels in The Elements of Moral Philosophy used an example of Ancient Greeks and the Callatians and their disposal of the dead. The Greeks believed that the most respectful way to honor the dead is to cremate the body; the Callatians thought differently, they believe that the most respectful way to honor the dead as to eat the body of the dead so that the family would ... • 3. House On Mango Street Compare And Contrast Essay According to talkproverty.org 21.4% of Hispanics in America are living in poverty. A book call The House on Mango Street and a movie call Stand and Deliver, represent the struggle of being a Hispanic in America. The House on Mango Street is similar to the movie, Stand and Deliver because the characters were judged based on where they lives, the characters have low self esteem, and the females were expected to take care of family. The House on Mango Street is also different from the movie, Stand and Deliver, because of the encouragement the characters received by adults, the relationships the characters build, and the different viewpoint the characters have on where they will be in the future. In my opinion, The House on Mango Street interests me more than Stand and Deliver, because the book leaves you wondering what is going to happen next, allows you to imagine the characters, and it has different storylines. ... In the movie, the district did not believe that the students received the high test scores because they lived in poverty. Similar to, how the woman did not allow Esperanza to sit in the cool kids area for lunch since she lived in the apartments. From Stand and Deliver, Pancho did not think he was smart enough to solve the calculus equation on the board. Compared to, Esperanza, who called her feet ugly, we can infer that both characters have low self esteem. The last similarity I want to talk about is the how the female characters were expected to take care of their family. Esperanza had to take care of her sister in the book just as how Lupe had to take care of her siblings because her mom comes home late. This shows that females are expected to take care of ... Some of the sources of the prime minister s powers are the number of seats in the House of Commons he and his party has, his ability to give push/give priority to certain government agendas, and his ability to appoint different governmental positions. For a politician to hold the office of PM his party must hold the majority of the seats in the house; this means that by convention his party must be in solidarity with his decisions, which gives the PM s the loyal support of his party. • 11. Pre-Disciplinary Communication Reflection On August 31, 2017 I spoke with Officer Burns via telephone in regards to his pending discipline and some concerns that had been brought to my attention by fellow officers and supervisors. The first portion of the conversation centered on his pending discipline and determining a date that would be acceptable for him to attend a pre disciplinary hearing with Captain Berger to discuss the alleged violations. During this conversation I explained the severity of the violations and that based upon the number of violations within the past twelve months he will subject to the progressive discipline policy. It was stressed to Officer Burns that he could also be subject to termination in the future if his performance did not improve and he committed another violation. Officer Burns acknowledged that he understood the severity of the violations and acknowledged that he was aware of the progressive discipline policy of the city. After discussing the policy violations and determining an acceptable date for the pre disciplinary hearing, I segued to the topic of the performance concerns that were brought to my attention. The first instance I spoke with Officer Burns about was the concerns that were brought up by Sgt. Adam Smotrich. Sgt. Smotrich detailed in a message to me that while on a call with Officer Burns involving an individual experiencing an emotional crisis and wielding a metal pipe, he became increasingly concerned that Officer Burns would be unable to defend himself. The reason for this concern was based upon the perceived physical limitations demonstrated by Officer Burns on the call. Sgt. Smotrich noted a noticeable limp and lack of ability to move laterally or backwards in a reasonably quick manner. This caused Sgt. According to me, History is a concern which raises a number of issues in factual way where sources come from primary sources or objective secondary sources. What they do fear is the thought of themselves getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. Officially the first day of winter, the winter solstice occurs when the North Pole is tilted 23.5 degrees away from the sun (precisely. *sips daintily from teacup*) and is the dark night of our souls . It celebrates the birth of the new solar year and the beginning of winter. The winter solstice has been celebrated for many years. Jo March is a perfect example of how one can find vindication in not doing what is expected of he or she. Jo March is a defiant character in the novel Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott. This novel tells the story of four young sisters and their mother, from Concord, Massachusetts, growing and maturing into ladies. The tight knit family struggles with living through the years without their father because of the Civil War. During this time, women were expected to follow certain rules. In fact, they were expected to feel ashamed if they did not follow these guidelines. Throughout the novel, one can see how Jo March defies the traditional domestic role of a women in her time period, the 19th century, by having a masculine personality and bringing in an income for her family. The first example of how Josephine March goes against the traditional role of a young women in this time period is her masculine personality. This attitude would stand out in this time period because ladies were expected to wear big long dresses with their hair nicely done, and go to events, such as balls, every weekend. Jo, however, is the exact opposite of that stereotype. His first rights included those under the name personal competency and property rights with these right people to an extent could live their life the way they see fit, but still needed the government in order to protect those rights and to make sure other powers or people, including the government itself could not infringe upon them. • 33. The Gangster Film Genre Of The Mafia The gangster film genre is a subgenre of the crime film, dealing with organized crime and more often than not, the Mafia. Though gangster films have their root in the silent era, the genre became widely popular in the 1930 s Hollywood Studio era, which is characterized by the Hollywood Genre System. Genre films offered economic advantages, including the repeated use of standardized themes, elements, characters and iconography. Additionally, genre films were easily marketable, as audiences knew what to expect from each genre. If a viewer enjoyed one film from a particular genre, they were likely to enjoy any other film falling into that genre. Specific themes and elements can be readily identified in gangster films. For one, they commonly question the meaning of success and failure in terms of the American dream. Warshow asserts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of happiness ranks as a civic duty in these societies and any behavior to the contrary of this is considered a defect within an individual. Many films exist within this mythology of optimism however, the gangster film manages to subvert this mentality and present a tragic hero. Dissatisfied with modern American life, he uses his methods of criminality and violence in an attempt to overcome the system, redefine his circumstances, achieve success on his own terms and ultimately control the reality he lives in. The world is his. His success is barely defined, however it is usually characterized by violence and criminality without impunity and acquisition of material goods. As his brutality escalates and he is not punished, his success grows. But this method of expansion is his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Compulsory Voting Vs. Mandatory Voting According to Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary, the definition of a vote is, A formal indication of a choice between two or more candidates or courses of action, expressed typically through a ballot or a show of hands or by voice. When forced to make a choice, are you still making that choice? Compulsory voting, or mandatory voting, is a system in which electors are required to vote in elections or at least attend a polling place on Election Day. If a voter does not appear at a polling place, and is eligible to vote, he or she may have to contribute community service or fines. This voting system exists in about a quarter of all democracies in the world. The core goals of compulsory voting are to increase voter turnout and to have an election reflect the will of all citizens. However, it is improbable that this form of voting would truly change the government to be more inclusive of those non voters than it is currently. Mandatory voting goes against American principals and American citizens that avoid casting their ballots intentionally. Compulsory voting would fail to solve any actual issues, and could cause even more to surface. Compulsory voting is principally undemocratic freedom of choice must include the freedom not to choose. Forcing citizens to vote violates individual freedom, a key staple of American democracy. Voting must be left to the individual to choose to participate or not to participate because the right to vote or not is protected by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Death Of The Butterflies Patria Quotes That moment, I understood her hatred. My family had not been personally hurt by Trujillo, just as before losing my baby, Jesus had not taken anything away from me. But others had been suffering great losses (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53). This quote had been stated by Patria in relation to religion. I had heard, but I had not believed. Snug in my heart, fondling my pearl, I had ignored their cries of desolation. How could our loving, all powerful Father allow us to suffer so? I looked up, challenging Him. And the two faces had merged! (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53) This image illustrates how Trujillo s system truly brunts the lives of Patria, her sisters, and their fellow people. To them, Trujillo is almost godlike. He usually gives them arcane commandments, smites those who contravene his power, and is delimited by wealth. Patria shows her disbelief in how callously God is behaving toward her because of her child s death. Throughout In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez s Patria Mirabal develops from an optimistic young Catholic girl to a woman who doubts; subsequently, that educators can further come to understand the influence of God on one s actions. Patria used to be an adolescent who had been spiritual and this adds to why she is able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the Lord s will, I agreed, but the words sounded hollow to my ear (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53). Patria begins to doubt the religion she had been raised upon, and basically lived off of subsequent to the passing away of her baby. Before losing her baby, Patria had never felt personally affected by Trujillo since he had been from a prosperous family. On the other hand, after experiencing a loss, she begins to feel compassion. Alvarez uses this excerpt to inform educators that although one is taught moral behavior as an adolescent, it is up to the individual to steadily exemplify good behavior throughout their future ... Harlan Coben s Views On Undercover Parents ¨The Undercover Parent¨ (March 16, 2008) is a news article written by Harlan Coben that claims parents should sit down with their children and address the possibility of concerns the parents may have about Internet safety and let them know that there is a likelihood that spyware will be installed on their computer. I both agree and disagree with Coben s claims. I agree with Coben s claim that spyware, although seen by many as an invasion of privacy, may be way the best way to protect your child from things outside your sphere control . It offers you an extra set of eyes that have the ability to record everything your child does on the Internet. • 37. Machiavelli s The Prince And Leviathan Although misunderstood when introduced to society during their time, Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince and Thomas Hobbes Leviathan have been two of the most influential political works in history. The Prince and Leviathan, although seen as immoral and almost wicked works of their time, have guided many political thinkers, even America s own Thomas Jefferson, on the subject of governance and power. This paper will compare the similarities and differences between both works in terms of the historical settings in which they were written as well as between the two distinct political philosophies presented by each man. More specifically, this paper will differentiate the purpose of power between Machiavelli s theory of an absolute ruler separated from morals and ethics compared to Hobbes reasoning for a necessary and absolute ruler to put an end to the chaotic state of nature he presents. Identification of Documents The Prince, written by Niccolo Machiavelli in 1513 in his native Italian language, was a book dedicated to Florence s then leader Lorenzo de Medici in an effort for Machiavelli to gain a position in Florence s new government. The book was intended to help guide Lorenzo and other present and future leaders in gaining and maintaining power, more specifically to aid Lorenzo in unifying Italy under one ruler. Machiavelli lived during a time of great political strife in Italy as the small city states of Italy, the Papal States, and the powerful states of Spain and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
