I Love Triangles Essay
While I am happy that she feels comfortable with me, I also feel awkward since I believe my
mother wants me to side with her whenever she makes difficult decisions concerning her
relationships. Due to the fact that she is my mother, I would support her no matter what
decisions she makes concerning her relationships. However, knowing details about her
relationships is uncomfortable for me and often I wish she would not share so much with me.
Also, because she does share quite a bit with me, sometimes I fear that my siblings are jealous of
the coalition that has formed. My sisters will sometimes make comments regarding the
relationship between my mother and I, offering evidence that they feel hurt my mother does not
share with them. Triangles As discussed previously, members in my family typically pair up and
the duos are typically stable. Due to this tendency, triangles are not an issue that commonly arise
in my family. Whenever there is tension between two family members, it is normally resolved
between the individuals. On occasion, when a conflict is proving difficult to solve, a triangle will
form when another individual is added in order to help stabilize the twosome. The person who is
typically added during these events is my father, who would try to help bring about an end to the
conflict. On occasion, my siblings or myself would be the individual who was added in order to
attempt to bring about stabilization between a pair. Enmeshment, disengagement, and

Influencing Socio Political Cultural Factors Essay
Theory Application Paper: Ma Vie en Rose (My Life in Pink)
Influencing Socio Political Cultural Factors 1) Identify two forces of the dominant culture that you
observed in the film that influenced the family s reactions to Ludovic and/or the family s
functioning. Describe the family s resulting responses or behaviors. Be sure to give clear examples
from the movie to illustrate your thoughts. (1 page) A dominant culture subsists as a culture that
has great influence, predominance, and authority within a societal or dogmatic context and its
dominance can be realized through various processes including financial strength, violence or the
threat of violence, or across more subtle methods of supremacy and relegation (Sue Sue, 2016).
Consequently, the Fabre family in Ma Vie en Rose is oppressed by the dominant culture in their
White, middle class neighborhood in France, which dictates the norms of the neighborhood. The
Father, Pierre Fabre, has moved his family directly across the street from his conservative boss
whose traditionalist ideas are represented by the dominant culture of the neighborhood and he uses
his power to influence the Fabre family and the community. The first force of dominant culture
evident in this film was the unalterable influence that society has in shaping subjective indications
of what gender entails. In respect to Ludovic and the transgender community, the author will
identify Ludovic with the pronouns she/her throughout this paper. The

The Policy Analysis, The Design And Implementation Of...
The policy analysis, The Design and Implementation of Policies to Protect Low Income
Households under a Carbon Tax, discusses the possible implementation and ramifications of a
climate rebate as a part of carbon tax legislation. More specifically, how this rebate would
safeguard low and moderate income families or individuals from a reduction in disposable income
they would incur from larger energy charges due to a carbon tax.
It is recommended that a three pronged delivery mechanism be applied through the usage of
existing systems where they can deliver payments to many of the low income households. This
delivery mechanism would require: 1) a refundable tax credit for those filing federal tax returns;
2) rebates to federal recipients such as lower income seniors and those that rely on Social
Security and other aids; 3) and rebates though state human services agencies (Stone, 2015). This
analysis was well written and has promise. The author is credible and the structure of the report
was well drafted. The analysis contained meaningful sources as well as data to back up
implications. Overall the report did well in presenting reliable information about the issue (carbon
tax) and possible solutions such as a climate rebate. This issue brief was written by Dr. Chad Stone,
the chief Economist at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. There he is a specialist in the
study of budgets and policy issues and has been a part of different Congressional Committees

The Era Of The 19th Century
Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires,
which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and
Holy Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to
rise to power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution
was coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large
industrial factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile
manufacturing, steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased
due to new advances in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the
invention of the microscope, became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of
scientific upheaval was fueled by the challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the
emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and
Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of species, as well as microbiological concepts,
such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of the Cell Theory.
One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and
formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of
disease. As all theories at the time, Pasteur s work faced significant contention from his

What Are The Stereotypes Of Female Avengers
In addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe s lack of powerful female characters of color, the
cinematic depictions of the two current female Avengers perpetuate xenophobic stereotypes of
Eastern European women for Western consumption. Natasha Romanoff, a physically beautiful
Russian spy, is deemed untrustworthy, shown by her ability to trick others, and embodies the
desired characteristics of a desirable Russian mail order bride a distinctly foreign, yet dedicated
mother and lover. In her appearance in The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, Romanoff s training as a
Russian spy rids her of her ability to become the epitome of a perfect Russian mail order bride for
an American man, much to her resentment. The cinematic depiction of Wanda Maximoff,

Personal Statement On Massage Green Spa
Three days before I voluntarily resigned my position from Massage Green Spa, there was an
incident that took place, which resulted in my lack of trust from the organization. When I was
working for Massage Green Spa, I usually was one of the therapists that close on Sunday nights.
Forty five minutes prior to closing, I did not have a massagescheduled, so I decided to clean the
bathrooms in preparation for closing. Halfway through the cleaning, I was interrupted by the
receptionist to notify me that we had a last minute walk inn. I expressed my frustration that the
client will only have time for twenty five minutes and I am not prepared to massage someone
after just handling cleaning chemicals. I stopped what I was doing and went up front to explain
to the client that I cannot do a full body massage in twenty five minutes. The male client express
that he did not care and that he would leave a nasty yelp review. I took the client back to the
massage room and told him to lay face down under the sheets. When I entered the room to start the
massage, the man was laying naked face up on top of the sheets. As I was getting him covered
with a blanket, I stressed to him that he needs to remain covered and draped. Once I started the
session, he made an attempt to grab and touch me inappropriately. I told him that the session is now
over; this behavior is not okay at this establishment. I left the room and stormed upfront to tell the
receptionist what had just happened. I immediately

Types Systems And Traditional Soil Based Systems
Microbes, Bio Diversity and Overall Plant Health and How They Relate to Long Term Space Life
Support Systems
Abstract
The interactions between plant diversity, microbes, and overall plant health is not fully understood
here on Earth nor in space. There have been studies on these interactions in hydroponic type
systems and traditional soil based systems each coming to varying conclusions and none really
uncovering a clear path forward. I read through many articles on plant microbe interactions, plant
disease in hydroponic systems, and plant health with relation to plant diversity and ecosystem
structure. Overall the message is clear. More research is needed to better understand these complex
interactions and how they affect the long term viability of bio regenerative closed ecological
systems (CES). Although, research is slowly progressing and shows promising signs that these
interactions can be better understood and utilized to enhance closed system plant cultivation and
ultimately long duration closed regenerative Life Support (LS) systems.
Introduction There is a renewed focus among the space community for long duration deep space
missions to destinations such as the Moon, Mars, and asteroids along with a desire to build long
term human settlements on Mars. These far flung missions will not be able to solely rely on
traditional LS systems that have been used throughout the history of manned space flight. These
traditional LS systems rely on carrying needed supplies

The Iran Hostage Crisis
The Iran Hostage Crisis changed the political connections between the United States and Iran for
several years to come. The Iran Hostage Crisis became a symbol of America s global power and
influence On November 4, 1979, Iranian students stormed the US embassy in Tehran, Iran, and took
sixty three Americans hostage. The students agreed that the hostages would not be released until
the Shah returned to Iran to stand trial for the crimes committed against the Iranian people.
(Bechtel). Despite the Shah s treatment of the Iranian people, the President Carted allowed the
Shah into the United States to receive medical treatment. Although President Carter made attempts
to negotiate the hostages released, he failed several times. Because of his failures he was viewed
inept and ineffective in regards to the crisis. The hostages were released on January 20, 1981, the
day that President Ronald Reagan was sworn into office. This paper will discuss the main reason
why the hostages were taken, and why they were not released sooner.
Back in 1950, when Mossadegh was Prime Minister of Iran, he nationalized Iran s oil industry,
reducing the European influence throughout the nation over the oil commodity. This sparked great
fear throughout the United States; they feared the communists would turn the Iran democracy
against them. After three years in exile, in 1953 Shah Mohammed

B. BARRIERS TO ENTRY: POTENTIAL ENTRY OF NEW COMPETITORS Most officesupplies
have little brand loyalty, low end user switching costs, low government regulation, and easy access
to suppliers and distribution channels attracts potential new entrants.Economies of scale provide a
significant advantage over the larger office supply that allow them to compete with high volume to
lead the market. Company with a strong financial able to gain better profit by negotiate better
contracts with suppliers.Entry can be achieved on a smaller scale by focusing on specific
productrange or by developing an online retail shop. The low growth in this industry also makes it
less attractive to new entrants. Overall, the threat of new entrants is strong (Merketline, 2102)
C. SUBSTITUTES There is a big challenge for those operating primarily with paper based office
products because many companies move towards a paperless office format to decrease the
operational cost and environmental friendly. Office services such as photocopying, printing and
binding may be substituted by electronic forms of communications. Switching costs are moderate
due to already developed ICT systems by market players. Therefore the threat of substitutes within
this industry is moderate. (Pearson Jones, 2010; Merketline, 2102)

(Schluter, 2007), The CIT is a practical methodology that allows researchers to understand
complexities of the nursing role and function, and the interactions between nurses and other
clinicians. (p113). This is expanded in definition by (McClure ND) who defined reflective practice
learning experience as follows, To maximise learning through critical reflection we need to
contextually locate ourselves within the experience and explore available theory, knowledge and
experience to understand the experience in different ways. (para 7).
A critical incident is an event that is usually remembered by the participant as important or used as
a learning tool for the purpose of reflection. (Daly, Speedman, Jackson,. 2010).
The Australia Nursing Midwifery Council (ANMC) states the following about critical thinking and
analysis, This relates to self appraisal, professional development, and the value of evidence and
research for practice. Reflecting on practice, feelings and beliefs and the consequences of these for
individuals/groups is an important professional benchmark. (p.2). Also under the ANMC
competencies nurses have a duty of care to their patients to that complies within the current
legislation governing nursing practice.

The Balance Of Payment ( Bop ) Essay
According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP) is a statement
used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the rest of the world by both
private and public sectors for a specified time period, usually every quarter or year. It is known as
Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its
non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of
the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a country has paid or
given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically, the BOP should be zero,
meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should balance; however, in the reality, this is
rarely the case.
The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account, and the
financial account:
1. The Current Account
The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a country. Within the
current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw
materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services
refer to receipts from tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or
management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets
such as stocks. Last but not least, it includes the unilateral

Political Advertising Controversy
In the realm of political advertising, there are two main categories of ads, positive and negative
(Brader 2006). These categorizations usually relate to their intended purpose or emotions that are
evoked. Positive ads, as the title suggests, evoke positive emotions like hope or enthusiasm
(Brader 2006). While negative ads promote negative emotions, like fear, anger or anxiety.
Evoking these emotions from voters are a key strategy to manipulating voters into a desired
behavior. Sometimes the goal is to interest voters in campaigns or to gain votes. Positive ads
typically focus on the own candidates campaign while negative campaigns usually focus on the
opponent (Brader 2006). In a study by Khan (1993), it was found that 65% of ads are candidate
oriented while 35% are negative and opponent oriented. When negative ads focus on the opponent,

Many people believe that negative ads promote voter engagement and turnout (Martin 2004). This
area of research has a lot of controversy and contradicting results. Some studies claim that voters
are mobilized by negative ads while others do not. One study performed by Freedman and
Goldstein (1999) show that negative ads do not reduce the number of voters that turnout to vote.
Freedman and Goldstein (1999) analyzed many old studies that looked at voter turnout and showed
that the methods that were used were inadequate. Newer research on voter mobilization and
turnout have been showing that voters are in fact mobilized by negative ads (Martin 2004).
Martin (2004) also did research within this area showing that voters are affected by negative ads
and these effects do in fact increase voter turnout. However, voter turnout only increases with
negative ads until a certain threshold in which voter turnout will decrease if passed (Martin 2004).
In other words, negative ads will increase voter turnout as long as it is below a certain threshold of

Business Line Model Of Nordstrom
Strength The diverse business line model that Nordstrom applies gives them a competitive edge
over their competitors. Unlike many of their competitors, Nordstrom operates in several retail
categories such as: clothing, furniture, bedding, footwear, beauty products, jewelry, house wear and
cafes (Nordstrom Inc, n.d). Operating in multi retail categories gives consumers an incentive to
shop at their shop, over the competitors because the consumer can satisfy all their specific needs
and wants in one store instead of having to visit several. The divergent product line also broadens
Nordstroms target market by offering different products that attract new market segments and reach
the different demographic and purchasing needs of each consumer. Nordstrom s wide product
range helped them to increase their Total Revenue in the 3 quarter 2014 by 8.88 % year on year,
while most of its competitors have experienced contraction in revenues by 0.17 % (CSI Market,

competitors. Nordstrom has quickly become one of The United States best high end fashion

The Success Of Accuracy And Efficiency Of Neuromorphic...
The success of accuracy and efficiency of neuromorphic architectures led to the the advent of more
applications that demanded even more work in this field.Advancement at architecture level and
state of the art in silicon neural processing began in the early 1980 s when Carver Mead, widely
regarded as the father of neuromorphic computing, wrote the book Analog VLSI and Neural
Systems. . The following sections of the paper provide a comprehensive survey of the prior art
discussing the current trends in neuromorphic chips.
A.Device Technology and NeuronArchitecture
Developments in electronic devices is trending towards lesser area and more functionality. This
trend has been driven by Moore s Law (*?) [1965_Moore] which states that transistor density will
double every 18 months and as it is evident from roadmap of semiconductor technology that this law
has reached its bottleneck[3].So when scaling in terms of dimensions and voltage was no longer
and effective alternative we enter into the More than Moore regime that involves exploring other
alternative strategies for improving efficiency and transistor density and neuromorphic architectures
is one of them. Digital neurons are able to have high throughput, consume less power, and increase
the density, which make a compelling argument for their future.Analog neuron don t affect scaling
yet they still have a seat at the table when it comes to neuromorphic architectures. Authors

What Was The Pros And Cons Of The Gold Standard
The gold standard was a monetary fund widely used worldwide from the 1800 s until around
world war two. States domestic currency could be exchanged for gold and vice versa. The United
Kingdom was the first to support a gold backed exchange rate. Most industrial nations adopted the
gold standard in the 1870 s. The exchange rate had a number of advantages including it being a
fixed international exchange rate. This meant that international trade involved much less risk than
today. However ultimately the cons outweighed the pros and the gold standardfailed. The gold
standard thrived in the late 1800 s as exchange rates were very stable, and inflation was low. Those

This inevitably led to major inflation affected the globe. Post World War I there was an attempt
to restore the system, the UK attempted to maintain the pre war rate for the pound and the
economy suffered as a result, and massive unemployment followed. This led to major criticism of
the system, JM Keynes famously said in 1923; In truth, the gold standard is already a barbarous
relic. The USA kept the gold standard throughout WWI, and most countries were back on the
golden standard by 1927. However, it didn t last long as the great depression soon ended the gold
standard. The great depression was a severe worldwide economic depression that started in the
19029 and lasted around a decade. The majority of countries left the gold standard at this time, so
they could enact monetary policy as way of recovering from the depression. Many agree that the
gold standard prolonged the great depression and changes were made afterwards. Ultimately, the
classical gold standard ended with the great depression. In 1944, The Bretton woods system was
created. In this system, countries pegged their exchange rates relative to the US

Essay on The History of the Roy Adaptation Model
The History of the Roy Adaptation Model
The Roy Adaptation Model for Nursing had it s beginning with Sister Callista Roy entered the
masters program in pediatric nursing at the University of California in Los Angeles in 1964.
Dorothy E. Johnson, Roy s advisor and seminar faculty, was speaking at the time on the need to
define the goal of nursing as a way of focusing the development of knowledge for practice. During
Roy s first seminar in pediatric nursing, she proposed that the goal of nursing was promoting patient
adaptation. Johnson encouraged her to develop her concept of adaptation as a framework for
nursing, throughout the course of her master s program. Von Vertalanffy s use of systems theorywas
a key component in the early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She related spirituality and science to present a new definition of adaptation and related scientific
and philosophical assumptions. Roy s stance on the philosophy emphasizes that nurses see persons
as co extensive with their physical and social environments. Roy has used the term cosmic unity to
describe that persons and the earth have common patterns and mutuality of relations and meaning
and that persons through thinking and feeling capacities, rooted in consciousness and meaning, are
accountable for deriving , sustaining, and transforming the universe. These ideas were explained in
a 1997 publication and included in the 1999 revision of the theorist s textbook on the model.
Other major developments of the model in the 1999 textbook include: expanding the adaptive
modes to include relational persons as well as individual persons and describing adaptation on
three levels of integrated life processes, compensatory processes, and compromised processes. Roy
has also outlined a structure for nursing knowledge development based on the Roy Adaptation
Model and provided examples of research within this structure. Roy remains committed to
developing knowledge for nursing practice and continually updating the Roy Model as a basis for
this knowledge development.

The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877
Summary:
Crises, such as the great railroad strike of 1877, Homestead strike of 1892, Pullman strike of
1894, and the depression of 1893 1894, were results from the rise of industrial capitalism. By
1900, America produced one third of the world s goods. Due to this, cities became polluted and
overcrowded, and became breeding grounds for diseases like typhoid and cholera. The working
situations were not much better, with unskilled industrial laboring class, child labor, low wages,
locked fire doors, and allowance of toxic fumes in the factories; many people were disgusted by the
way America s economy grew, while its people were left in poor health.
The middle and working classes were looked down upon by the wealthy capitalistic upper class.
Muckrakers shed light on the shady business dealings the capitalistic upper class dealt in, and the
corruption of politics. The society they showed made many Americans felt as though the
fundamental principles and promises were violated. This is how progressivism was formed; a way
to fix the broken society that many Americans now suffered in.
Progressivism arose in various places from 1890 to 1917. It had many different focuses ranging
from social justice emphasis to economic and political emphasis. There were three areas the
movement wanted to reform: efforts to make the government cleaner (less corrupt and more
democratic), attempts to ameliorate the effects of industrialization and efforts to rein in corporate
power.

Case Analysis Of The Clean Water System
Summary:
The petitioner, Los Angeles County Flood Control District (District), controls a municipal
separate store sewer system, also known as MS4, which was discharging polluted storm water
into four rivers (Los Angeles River, San Gabriel River, Santa Clara River and Malibu Creek) that
exceeded pollutant standards into navigable waters beginning 2002 or 2003. The MS4 is a
system of conveyances that is designed to collect polluted storm water and discharge the water
into navigable waters. It is not a combined sewer or a part of a sewage treatment plant. MS4

The data from the stations allowed the Ninth Court of Appeals to hold the District liable for the
Los Angeles and San Gabriel rivers.
On June 25, 2012, the Supreme Court granted review of the case only to answer the following
question: Under the CWA, does a discharge of pollutants occur when polluted water flows from
one portion of a river that is navigable water of the United States, through a concrete channel or
other engineered improvement in the river, and then into a lower portion of the same river? .
Using the S. Fla. Water Mgmt. Dist. v. Miccosukee case, they answered with the following
statement; pumping polluted water from one part of a water body into another part of the same
body is not a discharge of pollutants under the CWA. For the reasons stated above, the supreme
court reversed and remanded the case.
Analysis:
The main issue of the case was that the Los Angeles County Flood Control District allowed storm
water runoff that exceeded pollutant levels to discharge into rivers that flows into the ocean. The
case mainly focuses on defining the Clean Water Act,

Arrangement was changed in 1905 to answer to the two dangers of France and Russia. The
Schlieffen Plan was the operational arrangement for an assigned assault on France once Russia,
because of universal strain, had begun to assemble her powers close to the German outskirt. This
prompted to England announcing war on Germanyin 1914. Schlieffen prompted the Kaiser that his
arrangement is executed by 1916. He imagined that Germany could be sufficiently solid to have a
triumph. This Arrangement was played out in an impromptu way. Schlieffen mull over the
legislative issues that were occurring in European nations and uproar would happen. The
arrangement was executed two years early. Schlieffen reasoned that it would take Russia a month
and a half to activate while France... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thirty four divisions, bolstered by overwhelming mounted guns, would attack Belgium, rapidly
progressing to assault France from the northern Ardennes into the city of Lille. Schlieffen foresaw
little resistance from Belgium. He anticipated that the Belgians would essentially give them a
chance to go through, or, on the off chance that they even battled, to be immediately vanquished. A
littler compel would be put on the Franco German outskirts toward the east of France to battle
against a normal French countering. This littler constraint would gradually pull back east, tricking
the French armed force forward. Germany s principle attack would proceed from the north. This
would prompt to the circle and beyond any doubt demolition of the French armed force. Taking
after this arranged thrashing, the forefronts would then turn towards Russia to strengthen the eight
divisions that were initially positioned to secure the Prussian

Tanning Beds and Skin Cancer Essay
Tanning Beds and Skin Cancer
What is UV radiation?
Before one can discuss harmful effects of tanning equipment and increased sun exposure, one must
be familiar with the components of ultraviolet light and how affects the skin. Sunlight contains two
types of ultraviolet (UV) light: UVA and UVB. UVA raysconsist of longer wavelengths that
penetrate deep into the dermal layer of skin. Limited exposure to UVA rays causes skin to tan;
however, most experts agree that overexposure to UVA can lead to other long term skin damage.
UVB rays wavelengths are much shorter, affecting the outermost layers of skin. UVB rays are
known as the burning rays and are considered more dangerous. Tanning beds and sun lamps
generally emit 93% to 99% UVA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tanning beds, therefore, have the power to control exposure time and the ratio of UVA to UVB
rays for a perfect balance (http://www.shop.net/suncity/). Since tanning beds filter out most of the
burning UVB rays, chances of getting burned decrease dramatically (http://www.darquetan.com
/faq.htm). Therefore, the companies can claim that the tanning beds cannot be any more harmful
than the sun.
Tanning salons also state that some UV radiation is needed for the manufacturing of vitamin D.
Vitamin D certifies that a constant level of calcium remains in the blood and controls its absorption.
In an advertisement for tanning equipment, one tanning bed company, The Beach House Tanning,
claims that the sun is the only source of Vitamin D (http://www.beachouse.com
/tanning_benefits.htm). However, vitamin D is also found in foods such as dairy products, cereal,
and fish (http://shrike.depaul.edu/~vbard/vitdpg.html), and it takes far less UV radiation to obtain
the necessary amount of vitamin D than it does to get a suntan (http://www.fda.gov/cdrh
/tanning.html).
In addition, tanning industries claim that UVA radiation has no harmful effects on the skin. They
say that only UVB radiation can harm the outermost layer of the skin. Since UVA rays penetrate
deep into the skin, then they say that tanning beds cannot cause any type of premature aging, burn
the skin, or thicken

How Digestive System Work Together
The digestive system helps the humans break down food and turn it into nutrients. The digestive
system is made up of a lot of different organs such as salivary glands, pharynx, mouth, esophagus,
stomach, liver, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine, and pancreas. Salivary glands produce
saliva, which keeps the mouth and other parts of the digestive systemmoist. The pharynx role in
the digestive system is to connect the nose and mouth to the esophagus. The mouth is used for
putting in food and also eating the food. The esophagus has only one function and it is to carry
food, saliva, and liquid. The stomach receives the food from the esophagus and secretes acid and

Qualitative Data Collection Paper
Qualitative Data Collection Within a quantitative study, the research is completed to seek some
type of verification, but within a qualitative study the research is completed to seek a deeper
understanding (Capella University, 2017c). For instance, Hoelscher et al. (2016) used a survey
method to verify how the students commuted to school, and they received weather reports for
specific dates and locations for data collection. In contrast, if Hoelscher et al. (2016) study was
conducted using qualitative methodology, it would be designed as a multiple case study design. A
multiple case study design is an evaluation of multiple systems that are studied and compared to
one another over time (Capella University, 2017b). The multiple cases being... Show more content

Interviews and focus groups would be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the effects of the
grants. They would be conducted with the school staff, the funders, and the participants of the
study. Observations in the field would include seeing how the students commuted to school and
how the new building structures or implemented plans were influencing their commute. Lastly, a
review of documentation and reports that shows the efforts being made with the grants and how it
is helping and ensuring protection/safety of the participants involved.
Ethical Concerns The main ethical challenge that is presented in this study if changed from a
quantitative to a qualitative research design is the respect and protection of the participants. The
studies focus is on ensuring safety for the students as they commute to school. The study begins
with the students being as young as 9 years old. That may cause a problem when conducting a
qualitative study over a course of three years. Qualitative study collects non numerical data through
words and narratives, therefore, it is important to ensure that protective actions are in place to
address this ethical concern.

The Policy Instruments And The International Monetary Fund
Consensus, general agreement among policymakers and scholars, is a difficult task to achieve;
however, John Williamson in 1990 claimed that Washington based institutions such as the United
States Government, think tanks, and the International Monetary Fund had formed a general
consensus regarding economic development polices in Latin America (Williamson 1990). He
outlined a framework and described ten policy instruments that policymakers agreed were necessary
to aid developing countries. The ten reforms that he mentioned included: fiscal discipline, public
expenditures focused on health, education, infrastructure, tax reform, liberalized interest rates,
competitive exchange rates, free trade policies, privatization, liberalization of... Show more content

However, I will maintain that the Washington Consensus is the combination of neoliberal policy
preferences, which essentially is the harnessing the power of markets which was implemented by
international financial institutions during the 1980s and 1990s (Birdsall 2010 pp.6 ). Additionally,
to measure the success of the consensus it is proper to measure the economic growth and the poverty
rates in the region of Latin America because this is the same region Williamson first noticed the
Washington Consensus. In short, while the Washington Consensus may not be used in the same
manner as Williamson intended it to be, the Consensus has failed to help developing economies
grow measured by GDP growth and hasn t reduced poverty. It is safe to say there is no longer a
consensus among development policies; however, certain policy preferences and the end goal
integration in the global economy will still be found in the next consensus regarding economic
development (Nankani 2005 pp. xii). Additionally, from a theoretical level, the Consensus has failed
to recognize the diverse problems of each nation state, and various other factors such as the lack of
institution building.

discourse regarding the correct definition of the

Examples Of Solitude In Jane Eyre
Solitude
According to the dictionary, solitude is a state of social isolation, or the situation of being alone,
a solitary place (WordBook Dictionary). Solitude has been a recurring theme in several of the
books we read together during this class. BrontГ«, Kafka, Melville, and Vesaas to name a few. In
particular, I would like to discuss the effect this solitude had in the main characters in BrontГ« s
Jane Eyre and Melville s Bartleby.
Jane grew up as a lonely child, isolated from society, friends and family. Thanks to this isolation,
Jane learned in early age to embrace her solitude. She became independent, strong, and relied on her
instincts to make her own choices and decisions, something many adults strive to achieve.
In both Gateshead Hall and her education at Lowood School, she was lonely and was a victim of
abuse. Jane describes her isolation at Gateshead Hall with this words I was a discord in Gateshead

First, the artist, Kerry James Marshall, is of African American ethnicity. Modernism art is seen as
white, male dominated, and uninterested in minorities where as POMO switches to more feminist
and minority artists. Marshall uses the post modernist approach of identity politics through the
representation of an African American in a police uniform rather than drawing a Caucasian
officer. The artist also uses codes. This is displayed through the badge the officer is wearing. The
badge is an identifier; every officer wears one but each badge is specific to one officer. The badge
is symbolic of uniqueness and individuality which helps reinforce the artist s theme. The number
written on the badge is not easily determined in the portrait. The artist s description verbalizes the
reasoning for creating the portrait. Marshall states the portrait was a response to the many African
Americans killed by armed policemen throughout the United States. The previously stated is an

Does Economic Globalization Affect Interstate Military...
DOES ECONOMIC GLOBALIZATION AFFECT INTERSTATE MILITARY CONFLICT?
I
Although there is still not agreement on a common definition of this phenomenon, in this paper I
will accept the one developed by R.M. Joshi (2009). He identifies, indeed, Economic Globalization
as the increasing economic integration and interdependence of national, regional and local
economies across the world through an intensification of cross border movement of goods, services,
technologies and capital
There are two good reasons, in my opinion to accept Prof. Joshi s definition. First, it contains two
core point affecting every aspect of that phenomena: Interdependence and Cross border
movements. Second, it focuses on the interaction among markets avoiding approximate
expression often used in public debate as Global Economy and Global Market that could mislead
the reader, where national states still play an important role in Economies destinies, many people
are not involved in economy, some markets still operate on a local level, transnational corporations
are anyway nationally based and we can not (still) talk about a global labour market. (Aspers and
Kohl 2011).

The one among trade and peace is an old story. Yet in the XVII century Montesquieu (1758) wrote
Peace is the natural effect of trade. Two nations who traffic with each other become reciprocally

The Working Alliance Between Supervisor And Supervisee
Clinical Supervision is defined as a distinct professional activity in which education and training
aimed at developing science informed practice are facilitated through a collaborative interpersonal
process (Falender Shafranske, 2004). According to Falander and Shafranske (2004), clinical
supervision involves observation, feedback, facilitating self assessment of the supervisee, and
knowledge acquisition through a variety of methods. In supervising developing therapists, more
senior members of the profession monitor the overall quality and development of the professional
services being offered by beginning members of the profession (Knox et. al., 2008). Similar to what
we know about therapy, the working alliance between supervisor and supervisee is an essential
piece of what would be considered a positive supervisory experience.
Bordin (1983) defined the working alliance within clinical supervision as a collaborative process
based on three central aspects: mutual agreement and understanding regarding the goals of
supervision; mutual agreement and understanding regarding the tasks of supervision; and the
emotional bond between supervisor and supervisee. Specifically, an effective supervisory alliance
has been shown to be related to a variety of positive outcomes within supervision, including
enhanced trainee multicultural competence (Ladany, Brittan Powell, Pannu, 1997), increased
trainee self disclosure (Ladany et al., 1997), reduced stress and psychological

told through various points of view in regards to the same situation, showing viewers that reality

that humans are beasts especially in their drive for sex and power. Richie s attempt to swindle

Priority List for Implementing Supervision Instructional...
The instructional leader must be skillful, effective, and flexible with all instructional supervision
strategies. An enlightened leader provides constructive feedbacks that improve instruction, and
ultimately, student performance; and leads a team of educators to reach their highest potential.
Based on my study of the different strategies, the following is the order of my priority: Critical
Friends Group, Standards Based Walk Through, Peer Coaching, Mentoring, Peer Assessment,
Clinical Supervision, Portfolio Assessment, and Action Research. The criteria used to determine
rank of the supervision strategies was the amount of colleague support provided to encourage
instructional change. The list ranks from effective strategies collaborating... Show more content on

This is a valuable opportunity for teachers to learn from teachers, reflect, question, support, and
share knowledge. The invaluable process needs to increase professional growth.
Limitations:
Although there are more reasons why Standards Based Walk Through is an effective approach
there, is one flaw that stands out as a concern of mine. Colleagues do not get the opportunity to
observe the students in active learning. Unfortunately, this approach only allows the team of
teachers to see the end outcomes and rely on how the teachers reflection of the activities presented
during the walk through.
Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Assessment:
These three effective supervision strategies are remarkably similar in the sense of gaining new
ideas from colleagues, non judgmental and no evaluations to complete. Simply, teachers helping
teachers and both parties involved may improve teaching ability. The strength is in the teacher to
teacher interaction of all three of these approaches to push thinking forward which will assist in the
improvement of teaching.
Limitations:
Unfortunately, in all three approaches there s slight bias relating to the observer s own beliefs about
teaching.
Clinical Supervision:
This process respects teachers and builds relationships between leader and teacher. Together, leader
and teacher establish the purpose for the observation and determine how the leader can assist with
supporting the responsible professional. The instructional

Savino V. Robertson Case Study
Savino v. Robertson Theodore W Brown SPT 610 Q4220 Sport Law 15TW4 May 3, 2015 Dr.
Brent Estes Savino v. Robertson Facts: Scott Robertson and John Savino were teammates on an
adult hockey team. Prior to the start of the game, the teams were warming up i.e. shot around
etc. Scott Robertson shot the hockey puck towards the goal, unfortunately the puck missed the
goal and hit John Savino in the face near his eye. As a result of the accident, Mr. Savino lost 80%
of the vision in his right eye. Mr. Savino decided to file a negligence suit against Mr. Robertson.
He alleged that Mr. Robertson violated the league rules by shooting the puck at the goal without a
goalie being present in the goal and warning everyone that he was going to shoot the puck at the
goal. Mr. Savino reported that this was an established rule for the Northbrook Men s Summer
League which is the league that their hockey team belonged to. Issues: (1) Whether a plaintiff must

Holdings: The appeals court ruled that the plaintiff failed to prove that the defendant s behavior
was willful and wanton conduct. The appeals court ruled that there was no evidence to show
that the defendant s conduct was willful or wanton or in reckless disregard to safety. Rationale:
The appeals court based it s the case Nabozny v. Barnhill (1975), 31 Ill.App.3d 212, 334 N.E.2d
258. In this case, the court decided that a player can be held liable for his actions if they were
deliberate, willful or a reckless disregard for the safety of the other player so as to cause injury to
that player. However in this incident, that is not the case because it cannot be proven that Mr.
Robertion deliberately or willfully hit Mr. Savino with the puck nor can it be proven that Mr.
Robertson was reckless in his

Frederick Douglass Compare And Contrast Essay
The Narrative of Frederick Douglass and the Aquariums of Pyongyang are both very historical
novels. These two novels both include similar meanings and different writing styles. While the
Narrative of Frederick Douglass and the Aquariums of Pyongyang both contain similarities they
also contain vital differences.
Frederick Douglass and Kang Chol Won conflicts were very different. While Frederick Douglass
was born into the situation, Kang was forced into this situation by his grandfather plotting against
the North Korean government. Another major difference is that Frederick Douglass was
discriminated because of his looks and not because of what he had done. During the time of which
Kang was in the labor camp, he did have some hope while Frederick Douglass knew he was never
going to be free unless he escaped. Education was also a major difference in both of these books. In
Yodak, where Kang was sent to do hard labor, Kang had the ability to be educated and go... Show

First of all, the Narrative of Frederick Douglass had lots of Ethos and persuasion in the north
while the south didn t believe there was creditability during the time periods. The Aquariums of
Pyongyang shows lots of pathos and emotion for Kang Chol Won. To elaborate on this, the
Aquariums of Pyongyang s tone was very sorrow and made you feel doleful. Another key
difference is that the Aquariums of Pyongyang was written by a ghost writer but the Narrative of
Frederick Douglass was an autobiography. Frederick Douglass writing style also showed more
loaded language and comparisons, like how he portrays the boats on the Chesapeake Bay to
freedom. The Aquariums of Pyongyang is very fast moving and does not describe one topic for
very long but rather has intriguing context. Despite the fact that these books were written about
getting free they showed major

Progressive Decision Making Process In Public Administration
I have spent more than 25 years as a public servant. What I have learned in that capacity is that
some of the main aspects of public administration are to organize societal administration programs,
resolve social problems, improve the quality of life for others, efficiently manage resources,
promotes the fair working environment and to promote the economy. It takes a dedicated and
knowledgeable servant to uphold these aspects. With this premise, I have developed an
appreciation of the progressive decision making process in regards to public administrationand
policies. As a public administrator, you often are tasked with managing or leading a project, staff,
and resources of an entity. That entity could be a public, non profit or private entity. To effectively
manage those tasks, you must first understand any goals, mission, and directive that are applicable
to the entity. Also, you should know any legal guidelines, regulations, codes, policies, procedures,
and laws that apply to your entity or to the task you wish to undertake. Additionally, you should be
open to prepare for adjusting all the above as needed so that you may better serve your
constituents. The entity is forever changing. Some of the main reasons a public servant and
administrator are not properly serving their constituents are that they are not properly trained, they
are not clear as to what their duties are, very poor leadership and their resistance to changes. These
factors are translated

Colgate-Palmolive Keeps the World Smiling
Executive Summary The objective of this RFI is to determine whether or not Colgate Palmolive
(C P) should remain with SAP for their technology infrastructure, or if they should seek out other
or new IT opportunities. C P needs to determine what is important and whether or not IT supports
it. We evaluate the current problem C P is facing and the future trend of the technology. We
reviewed SAP and its competitor, Oracle, to determine whether C P should stay with their current
provider and what advantages would be available to them from their current and other IT providers.

investment in technology continues to provide substantial returns. By mid 2002, SAP
enterprise wide software supported 94 percent of C P s business (Annual Report, 2001, p. 10) .
SAP has already led to significant improvement in supply chain performance and customer
service, and that is only the beginning. C P has a long history of strong performance, which
comes from absolute focus on their core global businesses, combined with a successful
worldwide financial strategy. Dow Theory Forecasts (Unknown, 2001) reported: The stock

growth projection of 13% annually. How can a company, with less than 2% annualized sales
growth over the last five years keep that valuation? By boosting profit margins, gobbling market
share, and buying back plenty of its stock. Higher margins and a smaller share base will boost
both earnings and return on equity. Colgate controls 35% of the U.S. toothpaste market, up from

The Three Laws Of Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics...
Thermodynamics is a branch in physics that deal with heat and temperature and how they are
related with energy and work. There are 3 laws of thermodynamics which are used almost every
day and some of them are present in our body.
Thermoregulation:
Thermoregulation is process by which our body keeps our internal body temperature constant. Our
optimum body temperature is 37В°C to 40В°C. Whenever our body temperature increases or
decreases our internal system brings our temperature back to normal.
As the second law of thermodynamics states, the energy will spread from a high concentration to
low concentration or heat moves from high temperature to low temperature , similarly when our
body temperature increases our internal system tries to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Higher the entropy the more disordered is the system. As the second law of thermodynamics states,
the entropy of a system will either increase or remain the same.
Entropy can be used in monitoring a patient s EEG. EEG is Electroencephalography which is a
method used to record a patient s electric activity of the brain. It measure the voltage fluctuation of
ionic current within the neurons of the brain.
Mainly there are two entropy parameters, the fast reacting Response Entropy (RE) and the more
steady and robust State Entropy (ST). State entropy consists of the entropy of the EEG signals 32
Hz. Response Entropy includes high frequencies up to 47 Hz.
Advantages:
1.Depth of anesthesia used
2.Possibility for the reduction of anesthetic related side effects.
Disadvantages:
1.It is necessary to understand the theoretical foundations that are associated with the design which
includes basic understanding the relation between GA and consciousness.
Heat:
Heat is the energy that is transferred to and from its surroundings. In medicine heat is used in
treating cancer in two ways hyperthermia and gold nanoparticles.

The Sixties Exposed in Takin it to the Streets and The Dharma Bums
One cannot undertake any study of the 1960s in America without hearing about the struggles for
social change. From civil rights to freedom of speech, civil disobedience and nonviolent protest
became a central part of the sixties culture, albeit representative of only a small portion of the
population. As Mario Savio, a Free Speech Movement (FSM) leader, wrote in an essay in 1964:
The most exciting things going on in America today are movements to change America ( Takin it to
the Streets, 115). His essay is critical of those that maintain the status quo and oppose change in
America. It seems quite obvious that change has occurred as a result of the efforts ... Show more

The rebellion against automation and middle class prosperity of the sixties is portrayed in Kerouac
s The Dharma Bums. Ray and the other dharma bums lived on little money and enjoyed nature.
Ray traveled cross country hitchhiking and jumping on trains from California to North Carolina
and back more than once on only a few dollars and while at home in North Carolina for
Christmas he sat in the woods with his dog much of the time and preferred to sleep in a sleeping
bag outside on the porch rather than inside his mother s home. This love of nature and desire to
live a very meager lifestyle in opposition to the working class prosperity seems to be more in
opposition to the changing culture, which was becoming more automated and industry driven, than
it was trying to illicit change. Regarding automation and middle class prosperity, it seems that
Kerouac and others feared the loss of nature to industry as well as one s time to be able to enjoy
nature.
The fight against automation was however, somewhat subservient to the goal of social change
regarding individual rights. The civil rights movement sought changes to the system of racial
injustice. Resistance to this movement helped bring about the FSM and the fight for one s rights to
free speech and assembly. The FSM was a movement dedicated to promoting equality and individual
rights, yet it maintained the

The year was 1937 first day of grade 1 PS 166 Astoria Long Island New York I was so excited my
first day going to school and in the first grade We all went into a big hall and above on the wall was
listed classes we were to line in front (we received during the summer our class #) I was class 1A1
The whistle blew and we lined up we were escort by an older class pupil (they were called
monitors) so we followed her right to the front door of our classroom There stood a pretty young
woman with a big smile on her face her name was Miss Pargenberg We entered the classroom and
was told to stand in the front she then called each name out and assign us a seat after that we
were told to hang up our coat in the closet this was done in order row by row As soon as that was...

now to me it was just just a little hard (but by the middle of the term we were reading 2 3 books)
The book had no more then ten pages and about the most (of my memory) was 3 lines and a
picture of Dick Jane at the top relating to the story The teacher would then print the sentence on
the board and she would also put small words from the page such as, if, and, the, and of course Dick

Comparing The Oppression Of Women And A Metaphorical...
In comparing the oppression of women to a metaphorical birdcage, Marilyn Frye s essay
Oppression expands the definition of what constitutes as an oppressive act. In doing so, some
would argue that her definition allows for nearly every interaction between men and women to have
some underlying sexist tone. Others, including myself, would deny such a claim and argue that as
opposed to stretching the realms of sexism, Frye s interpretation contributes to a deeper
understanding of sexism in modern society. While it is true that Frye s metaphor could be over
applied and abused, in the long term, it is more beneficial than detrimental. Because the situation of
women in the western world has improved vastly in comparison to other societies,... Show more

It is my belief that the sexism in this act lied firmly in the way he chuckled, and shook his head
condescendingly at me. It was as though he were thinking to himself how cute it was that a little
woman like me to hold open the door for a strong, capable man such as himself. In laughing at
this simple, objectively polite act he confirmed the thought process behind this chivalrous act .
Men hold open the door for woman, not because it s necessarily polite, but because men
subconsciously believe women to be weak. Not only that, but consider the fact that rarely do
men hold open the door for men. This is no doubt because men consider other men to be capable
of handling themselves in all manners, especially in things as simple as holding open a door.
However, this is only one side of the argument, and without the opposing side the discussion is
limited. Others would argue that holding open a door is just that, nothing more or less. It is a
polite act instilled in many people, especially those living in the Southern areas of the United
States, where politeness is particularly emphasized. It could certainly be that is not the act that is
sexist but the individual reasons as to why one opens the door for another person. While one man
may do so because he believes a woman needs unnecessary help, another may do it because it is
not an out of the way gesture. One man may laugh at the act of a woman holding open the door for
him, while another

  • 2. I Love Triangles Essay While I am happy that she feels comfortable with me, I also feel awkward since I believe my mother wants me to side with her whenever she makes difficult decisions concerning her relationships. Due to the fact that she is my mother, I would support her no matter what decisions she makes concerning her relationships. However, knowing details about her relationships is uncomfortable for me and often I wish she would not share so much with me. Also, because she does share quite a bit with me, sometimes I fear that my siblings are jealous of the coalition that has formed. My sisters will sometimes make comments regarding the relationship between my mother and I, offering evidence that they feel hurt my mother does not share with them. Triangles As discussed previously, members in my family typically pair up and the duos are typically stable. Due to this tendency, triangles are not an issue that commonly arise in my family. Whenever there is tension between two family members, it is normally resolved between the individuals. Influencing Socio Political Cultural Factors Essay Theory Application Paper: Ma Vie en Rose (My Life in Pink) Influencing Socio Political Cultural Factors 1) Identify two forces of the dominant culture that you observed in the film that influenced the family s reactions to Ludovic and/or the family s functioning. Describe the family s resulting responses or behaviors. Be sure to give clear examples from the movie to illustrate your thoughts. (1 page) A dominant culture subsists as a culture that has great influence, predominance, and authority within a societal or dogmatic context and its dominance can be realized through various processes including financial strength, violence or the threat of violence, or across more subtle methods of supremacy and relegation (Sue Sue, 2016). Consequently, the Fabre family in Ma Vie en Rose is oppressed by the dominant culture in their White, middle class neighborhood in France, which dictates the norms of the neighborhood. The Father, Pierre Fabre, has moved his family directly across the street from his conservative boss whose traditionalist ideas are represented by the dominant culture of the neighborhood and he uses his power to influence the Fabre family and the community. The first force of dominant culture evident in this film was the unalterable influence that society has in shaping subjective indications of what gender entails. In respect to Ludovic and the transgender community, the author will identify Ludovic with the pronouns she/her throughout this paper. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Policy Analysis, The Design And Implementation Of... The policy analysis, The Design and Implementation of Policies to Protect Low Income Households under a Carbon Tax, discusses the possible implementation and ramifications of a climate rebate as a part of carbon tax legislation. More specifically, how this rebate would safeguard low and moderate income families or individuals from a reduction in disposable income they would incur from larger energy charges due to a carbon tax. It is recommended that a three pronged delivery mechanism be applied through the usage of existing systems where they can deliver payments to many of the low income households. This delivery mechanism would require: 1) a refundable tax credit for those filing federal tax returns; 2) rebates to federal recipients such as lower income seniors and those that rely on Social Security and other aids; 3) and rebates though state human services agencies (Stone, 2015). This analysis was well written and has promise. The author is credible and the structure of the report was well drafted. The analysis contained meaningful sources as well as data to back up implications. Overall the report did well in presenting reliable information about the issue (carbon tax) and possible solutions such as a climate rebate. • 5. The Era Of The 19th Century Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires, which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and Holy Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to rise to power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution was coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large industrial factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile manufacturing, steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased due to new advances in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the invention of the microscope, became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of scientific upheaval was fueled by the challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of species, as well as microbiological concepts, such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of the Cell Theory. One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of disease. Personal Statement On Massage Green Spa Three days before I voluntarily resigned my position from Massage Green Spa, there was an incident that took place, which resulted in my lack of trust from the organization. When I was working for Massage Green Spa, I usually was one of the therapists that close on Sunday nights. Forty five minutes prior to closing, I did not have a massagescheduled, so I decided to clean the bathrooms in preparation for closing. Halfway through the cleaning, I was interrupted by the receptionist to notify me that we had a last minute walk inn. I expressed my frustration that the client will only have time for twenty five minutes and I am not prepared to massage someone after just handling cleaning chemicals. I stopped what I was doing and went up front to explain to the client that I cannot do a full body massage in twenty five minutes. The male client express that he did not care and that he would leave a nasty yelp review. I took the client back to the massage room and told him to lay face down under the sheets. When I entered the room to start the massage, the man was laying naked face up on top of the sheets. As I was getting him covered with a blanket, I stressed to him that he needs to remain covered and draped. Once I started the session, he made an attempt to grab and touch me inappropriately. I told him that the session is now over; this behavior is not okay at this establishment. I left the room and stormed upfront to tell the receptionist what had just happened. I immediately ... Types Systems And Traditional Soil Based Systems Microbes, Bio Diversity and Overall Plant Health and How They Relate to Long Term Space Life Support Systems Abstract The interactions between plant diversity, microbes, and overall plant health is not fully understood here on Earth nor in space. I read through many articles on plant microbe interactions, plant disease in hydroponic systems, and plant health with relation to plant diversity and ecosystem structure. Overall the message is clear. More research is needed to better understand these complex interactions and how they affect the long term viability of bio regenerative closed ecological systems (CES). Although, research is slowly progressing and shows promising signs that these interactions can be better understood and utilized to enhance closed system plant cultivation and ultimately long duration closed regenerative Life Support (LS) systems. Kristal Cannici Dr. Lammers The West and the World: 1945 Present 20 November 2016 The Iran Hostage Crisis The Iran Hostage Crisis changed the political connections between the United States and Iran for several years to come. The Iran Hostage Crisis became a symbol of America s global power and influence On November 4, 1979, Iranian students stormed the US embassy in Tehran, Iran, and took sixty three Americans hostage. The students agreed that the hostages would not be released until the Shah returned to Iran to stand trial for the crimes committed against the Iranian people. (Bechtel). Despite the Shah s treatment of the Iranian people, the President Carted allowed the Shah into the United States to receive medical treatment. Although President Carter made attempts to negotiate the hostages released, he failed several times. Because of his failures he was viewed inept and ineffective in regards to the crisis. The hostages were released on January 20, 1981, the day that President Ronald Reagan was sworn into office. This paper will discuss the main reason why the hostages were taken, and why they were not released sooner. Back in 1950, when Mossadegh was Prime Minister of Iran, he nationalized Iran s oil industry, reducing the European influence throughout the nation over the oil commodity. This sparked great fear throughout the United States; they feared the communists would turn the Iran democracy against them. After three years in exile, in 1953 Shah Mohammed ... • 13. The Balance Of Payment ( Bop ) Essay According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP) is a statement used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the rest of the world by both private and public sectors for a specified time period, usually every quarter or year. It is known as Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a country has paid or given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically, the BOP should be zero, meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should balance; however, in the reality, this is rarely the case. The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account, and the financial account: 1. The Current Account The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a country. Within the current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services refer to receipts from tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets such as stocks. The following sections of the paper provide a comprehensive survey of the prior art discussing the current trends in neuromorphic chips. A.Device Technology and NeuronArchitecture Developments in electronic devices is trending towards lesser area and more functionality. This trend has been driven by Moore s Law (*?) These ideas were explained in a 1997 publication and included in the 1999 revision of the theorist s textbook on the model. Other major developments of the model in the 1999 textbook include: expanding the adaptive modes to include relational persons as well as individual persons and describing adaptation on three levels of integrated life processes, compensatory processes, and compromised processes. Roy has also outlined a structure for nursing knowledge development based on the Roy Adaptation Model and provided examples of research within this structure. The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877 Summary: Crises, such as the great railroad strike of 1877, Homestead strike of 1892, Pullman strike of 1894, and the depression of 1893 1894, were results from the rise of industrial capitalism. By 1900, America produced one third of the world s goods. Due to this, cities became polluted and overcrowded, and became breeding grounds for diseases like typhoid and cholera. The working situations were not much better, with unskilled industrial laboring class, child labor, low wages, locked fire doors, and allowance of toxic fumes in the factories; many people were disgusted by the way America s economy grew, while its people were left in poor health. The middle and working classes were looked down upon by the wealthy capitalistic upper class. Muckrakers shed light on the shady business dealings the capitalistic upper class dealt in, and the corruption of politics. The society they showed made many Americans felt as though the fundamental principles and promises were violated. This is how progressivism was formed; a way to fix the broken society that many Americans now suffered in. Progressivism arose in various places from 1890 to 1917. It had many different focuses ranging from social justice emphasis to economic and political emphasis. There were three areas the movement wanted to reform: efforts to make the government cleaner (less corrupt and more democratic), attempts to ameliorate the effects of industrialization and efforts to rein in corporate power. • 32. Tanning Beds and Skin Cancer Essay Tanning Beds and Skin Cancer What is UV radiation? Before one can discuss harmful effects of tanning equipment and increased sun exposure, one must be familiar with the components of ultraviolet light and how affects the skin. Sunlight contains two types of ultraviolet (UV) light: UVA and UVB. UVA raysconsist of longer wavelengths that penetrate deep into the dermal layer of skin. Limited exposure to UVA rays causes skin to tan; however, most experts agree that overexposure to UVA can lead to other long term skin damage. UVB rays wavelengths are much shorter, affecting the outermost layers of skin. UVB rays are known as the burning rays and are considered more dangerous. Tanning beds and sun lamps generally emit 93% to 99% UVA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tanning beds, therefore, have the power to control exposure time and the ratio of UVA to UVB rays for a perfect balance (http://www.shop.net/suncity/). Since tanning beds filter out most of the burning UVB rays, chances of getting burned decrease dramatically (http://www.darquetan.com /faq.htm). Therefore, the companies can claim that the tanning beds cannot be any more harmful than the sun. Tanning salons also state that some UV radiation is needed for the manufacturing of vitamin D. Vitamin D certifies that a constant level of calcium remains in the blood and controls its absorption. In an advertisement for tanning equipment, one tanning bed company, The Beach House Tanning, claims that the sun is the only source of Vitamin D (http://www.beachouse.com /tanning_benefits.htm). However, vitamin D is also found in foods such as dairy products, cereal, and fish (http://shrike.depaul.edu/~vbard/vitdpg.html), and it takes far less UV radiation to obtain the necessary amount of vitamin D than it does to get a suntan (http://www.fda.gov/cdrh /tanning.html). In addition, tanning industries claim that UVA radiation has no harmful effects on the skin. They say that only UVB radiation can harm the outermost layer of the skin. Since UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin, then they say that tanning beds cannot cause any type of premature aging, burn the skin, or thicken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, to measure the success of the consensus it is proper to measure the economic growth and the poverty rates in the region of Latin America because this is the same region Williamson first noticed the Washington Consensus. In short, while the Washington Consensus may not be used in the same manner as Williamson intended it to be, the Consensus has failed to help developing economies grow measured by GDP growth and hasn t reduced poverty. The badge is symbolic of uniqueness and individuality which helps reinforce the artist s theme. The number written on the badge is not easily determined in the portrait. The artist s description verbalizes the reasoning for creating the portrait. I Although there is still not agreement on a common definition of this phenomenon, in this paper I will accept the one developed by R.M. Joshi (2009). He identifies, indeed, Economic Globalization as the increasing economic integration and interdependence of national, regional and local economies across the world through an intensification of cross border movement of goods, services, technologies and capital There are two good reasons, in my opinion to accept Prof. Joshi s definition. First, it contains two core point affecting every aspect of that phenomena: Interdependence and Cross border movements. Second, it focuses on the interaction among markets avoiding approximate expression often used in public debate as Global Economy and Global Market that could mislead the reader, where national states still play an important role in Economies destinies, many people are not involved in economy, some markets still operate on a local level, transnational corporations are anyway nationally based and we can not (still) talk about a global labour market. The Working Alliance Between Supervisor And Supervisee Clinical Supervision is defined as a distinct professional activity in which education and training aimed at developing science informed practice are facilitated through a collaborative interpersonal process (Falender Shafranske, 2004). According to Falander and Shafranske (2004), clinical supervision involves observation, feedback, facilitating self assessment of the supervisee, and knowledge acquisition through a variety of methods. In supervising developing therapists, more senior members of the profession monitor the overall quality and development of the professional services being offered by beginning members of the profession (Knox et. al., 2008). Similar to what we know about therapy, the working alliance between supervisor and supervisee is an essential piece of what would be considered a positive supervisory experience. Bordin (1983) defined the working alliance within clinical supervision as a collaborative process based on three central aspects: mutual agreement and understanding regarding the goals of supervision; mutual agreement and understanding regarding the tasks of supervision; and the emotional bond between supervisor and supervisee. Specifically, an effective supervisory alliance has been shown to be related to a variety of positive outcomes within supervision, including enhanced trainee multicultural competence (Ladany, Brittan Powell, Pannu, 1997), increased trainee self disclosure (Ladany et al., 1997), reduced stress and psychological ... First of all, the Narrative of Frederick Douglass had lots of Ethos and persuasion in the north while the south didn t believe there was creditability during the time periods. The Aquariums of Pyongyang shows lots of pathos and emotion for Kang Chol Won. To elaborate on this, the Aquariums of Pyongyang s tone was very sorrow and made you feel doleful. Another key difference is that the Aquariums of Pyongyang was written by a ghost writer but the Narrative of Frederick Douglass was an autobiography. Frederick Douglass writing style also showed more loaded language and comparisons, like how he portrays the boats on the Chesapeake Bay to freedom. The Aquariums of Pyongyang is very fast moving and does not describe one topic for very long but rather has intriguing context. Despite the fact that these books were written about getting free they showed major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Progressive Decision Making Process In Public Administration I have spent more than 25 years as a public servant. What I have learned in that capacity is that some of the main aspects of public administration are to organize societal administration programs, resolve social problems, improve the quality of life for others, efficiently manage resources, promotes the fair working environment and to promote the economy. It takes a dedicated and knowledgeable servant to uphold these aspects. With this premise, I have developed an appreciation of the progressive decision making process in regards to public administrationand policies. As a public administrator, you often are tasked with managing or leading a project, staff, and resources of an entity. That entity could be a public, non profit or private entity. To effectively manage those tasks, you must first understand any goals, mission, and directive that are applicable to the entity. Also, you should know any legal guidelines, regulations, codes, policies, procedures, and laws that apply to your entity or to the task you wish to undertake. Additionally, you should be open to prepare for adjusting all the above as needed so that you may better serve your constituents. The entity is forever changing. Some of the main reasons a public servant and administrator are not properly serving their constituents are that they are not properly trained, they are not clear as to what their duties are, very poor leadership and their resistance to changes. These factors are translated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Colgate-Palmolive Keeps the World Smiling Executive Summary The objective of this RFI is to determine whether or not Colgate Palmolive (C P) should remain with SAP for their technology infrastructure, or if they should seek out other or new IT opportunities. C P needs to determine what is important and whether or not IT supports it. We evaluate the current problem C P is facing and the future trend of the technology. We reviewed SAP and its competitor, Oracle, to determine whether C P should stay with their current provider and what advantages would be available to them from their current and other IT providers. C P must have a very good handle on automation and rationalization. These two items being the two most common forms of organizational change because they are... Dow Theory Forecasts (Unknown, 2001) reported: The stock trades for 30 times projected 2001 earnings of $1.92, high compared to its long term profit growth projection of 13% annually. How can a company, with less than 2% annualized sales growth over the last five years keep that valuation? By boosting profit margins, gobbling market share, and buying back plenty of its stock. Higher margins and a smaller share base will boost both earnings and return on equity. Colgate controls 35% of the U.S. toothpaste market, up from around 31% a year ago (p.4). C P ... • 52. The Three Laws Of Thermodynamics Thermodynamics... Thermodynamics is a branch in physics that deal with heat and temperature and how they are related with energy and work. There are 3 laws of thermodynamics which are used almost every day and some of them are present in our body. Thermoregulation: Thermoregulation is process by which our body keeps our internal body temperature constant. Our optimum body temperature is 37В°C to 40В°C. Whenever our body temperature increases or decreases our internal system brings our temperature back to normal. As the second law of thermodynamics states, the energy will spread from a high concentration to low concentration or heat moves from high temperature to low temperature , similarly when our body temperature increases our internal system tries to ... As the second law of thermodynamics states, the entropy of a system will either increase or remain the same. Entropy can be used in monitoring a patient s EEG. EEG is Electroencephalography which is a method used to record a patient s electric activity of the brain. It measure the voltage fluctuation of ionic current within the neurons of the brain. Mainly there are two entropy parameters, the fast reacting Response Entropy (RE) and the more steady and robust State Entropy (ST). State entropy consists of the entropy of the EEG signals 32 Hz. Response Entropy includes high frequencies up to 47 Hz. Advantages: 1.Depth of anesthesia used 2.Possibility for the reduction of anesthetic related side effects. Disadvantages: 1.It is necessary to understand the theoretical foundations that are associated with the design which includes basic understanding the relation between GA and consciousness. • 53. The Sixties Exposed in Takin it to the Streets and The... The Sixties Exposed in Takin it to the Streets and The Dharma Bums One cannot undertake any study of the 1960s in America without hearing about the struggles for social change. From civil rights to freedom of speech, civil disobedience and nonviolent protest became a central part of the sixties culture, albeit representative of only a small portion of the population. As Mario Savio, a Free Speech Movement (FSM) leader, wrote in an essay in 1964: The most exciting things going on in America today are movements to change America ( Takin it to the Streets, 115). His essay is critical of those that maintain the status quo and oppose change in America. It seems quite obvious that change has occurred as a result of the efforts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rebellion against automation and middle class prosperity of the sixties is portrayed in Kerouac s The Dharma Bums. Ray and the other dharma bums lived on little money and enjoyed nature. Ray traveled cross country hitchhiking and jumping on trains from California to North Carolina and back more than once on only a few dollars and while at home in North Carolina for Christmas he sat in the woods with his dog much of the time and preferred to sleep in a sleeping bag outside on the porch rather than inside his mother s home. This love of nature and desire to live a very meager lifestyle in opposition to the working class prosperity seems to be more in opposition to the changing culture, which was becoming more automated and industry driven, than it was trying to illicit change. Regarding automation and middle class prosperity, it seems that Kerouac and others feared the loss of nature to industry as well as one s time to be able to enjoy nature. The fight against automation was however, somewhat subservient to the goal of social change regarding individual rights. The civil rights movement sought changes to the system of racial injustice. Resistance to this movement helped bring about the FSM and the fight for one s rights to free speech and assembly. The FSM was a movement dedicated to promoting equality and individual rights, yet it maintained the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Comparing The Oppression Of Women And A Metaphorical... In comparing the oppression of women to a metaphorical birdcage, Marilyn Frye s essay Oppression expands the definition of what constitutes as an oppressive act. In doing so, some would argue that her definition allows for nearly every interaction between men and women to have some underlying sexist tone. Others, including myself, would deny such a claim and argue that as opposed to stretching the realms of sexism, Frye s interpretation contributes to a deeper understanding of sexism in modern society. While it is true that Frye s metaphor could be over applied and abused, in the long term, it is more beneficial than detrimental. Because the situation of women in the western world has improved vastly in comparison to other societies,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is my belief that the sexism in this act lied firmly in the way he chuckled, and shook his head condescendingly at me. It was as though he were thinking to himself how cute it was that a little woman like me to hold open the door for a strong, capable man such as himself. In laughing at this simple, objectively polite act he confirmed the thought process behind this chivalrous act . Men hold open the door for woman, not because it s necessarily polite, but because men subconsciously believe women to be weak. Not only that, but consider the fact that rarely do men hold open the door for men. This is no doubt because men consider other men to be capable of handling themselves in all manners, especially in things as simple as holding open a door. However, this is only one side of the argument, and without the opposing side the discussion is limited. Others would argue that holding open a door is just that, nothing more or less. It is a polite act instilled in many people, especially those living in the Southern areas of the United States, where politeness is particularly emphasized. It could certainly be that is not the act that is sexist but the individual reasons as to why one opens the door for another person. While one man may do so because he believes a woman needs unnecessary help, another may do it because it is not an out of the way gesture. One man may laugh at the act of a woman holding open the door for him, while another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
