Patient s Impairment
Based on the information gathered from the initial physical therapy evaluation and examination, the
patient s subjective and objective findings determined the patient s prominent impairments. The
patient s postural changes, generalized weakness, fatigue, muscle shortening and patellofemoral
pain contributed to her abnormal lateral tracking of the patella, inability to walk long distances,
stand for prolonged periods of time, and complete ADL with ease. The patient presented with a
forward flexed posture of the spine, which can be associated with the weakness of the trunk and
core musculature. Tightness of the hamstrings justifies postural changes and lack of full knee
extension. Shortening of the ITB contributes to patellofemoral pain secondary

Example Of Syncretism
The term syncretism refers to the process of amalgamation of conflicting principles and cultural
practices among two or more religions. This concept syncretism plays an important role in the rise
of secular nation states. In India the scene is such that at one hand, we encourage for the unity in
diversity and on the other to find more about the differences among groups to indicate certain
uniqueness. This strategy in a religious context can be a form of resistance for cultural dominance
and certain power to be established over the so called minority groups. Though each group or
community has its own distinctive identity and values, it does not and cannot exist isolated from
the others. In this line of argument this paper written by JJ Roy... Show more content on

The shrine of Nizamuddin Auliya in Delhi or the Chirag Dargah of Delhi is a most famous
syncretic shrine where Hindus and Muslims go to ask for blessings and Hindu grooms marry only
after praying at the shrine.
In a way all this points out the dynamics of assimilation and synthesis of Hinduism and Islam, also
represents the complexity of the Indian civilization and the cordial nature of these religions across
India. They help us to understand the syncretic culture we are all living in that is so deeply
entrenched that cannot wear away so easily. And proves that labelling India as the land of Hindus

Development Of Optical Imaging Tools For Synapse Typing Essay
Development of Optical Imaging Tools for Synapse Typing
Restructure of synapse types and alternations of dynamics of neurotransmitters and
neuromodulators have been implicated in a number of human neurological and psychiatric diseases,
including autism, Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease, schizophrenia, and addiction1,2.
However, little is known about how molecular compositions define different types and functions of
synapses and how different synapses organize in micro and macroscale to give rise to complex brain
functions and disorders, due to lack of appropriate tools to characterize synaptic biomolecules in
situ in large scale. Here, I propose a novel research program to develop transformative tools for large
scale mapping of synaptic biomolecules, functional imaging of neurotransmission and neuronal
signaling. Specifically, it will evolve along three main themes: 1. Expansion pathology for highly
multiplexed, in situ and nanoscale biomolecular imaging. 2. Optogenetic neurotransmitter indicator;
3. in situ imaging tools for endogenous protein protein interaction; This program will expand on the
themes of my previous work on engineering optogenetic indicators for neuronal activities, such as
calcium ions3,4 and voltage5,6 indicators, as well as my current work on devising a clinically
optimized form of expansion microscopy7,8, which contribute new capabilities to the broader
communities of neuroscience, cell biology, pathology and medicine.

John Bunyan’s Pilgrime s Progress Essay
Many people wonder what it would be like to go from a dangerous city where they live and
journey to a plentiful heaven. This storyline is portrayed in John Bunyan s allegorical book,
Pilgrim s Progress. This fascinating story describes the life of Christian, a married man living in
the City of Destruction, who longs to travel to the Celestial City. As Christian struggles to stay on
the right, though more difficult path, I fight to focus in school and not pay attention to distracting
ideas. I also fight to get strong enough in dance to become a professional dancer, just as Christian
has to climb the Hill of Difficulty to get to the Palace Beautiful. In order for Christian to arrive at
the Celestial City without wasting away his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I stood strong and said no, my homework was more important to me than chatting. In
the end, I realized that by focusing on what I knew was right, I set a good example for other
people to follow. While some of my friends were mad at me, and questioned me for what I had
chosen, I soon realized that taking my path would show others how being faithful towards a goal
made life easier for me to follow God. In order for Christian to reach the Palace Beautiful, he has
to climb the Hill of Difficulty. In the same way, I had to focus on my faith in order to become
stronger person of God. Similarly, Christian discusses how the better way to go was the most
difficult way versus the two other easy, but deathly paths: Better, though difficult, the Right
Way to go, Than Wrong, though easy, where the End is Woe (Bunyan 53). Formalist and
Hypocrisy both take the easier paths, but they end up in a deadly trap. While Christian struggles
to get up the Hill of Difficulty, he makes it to the Palace alive. In the same manner, I struggled to
focus on my faith, school, and dance all at once. Even though it was harder to stay strong in my
faith, I learned that I soon became a stronger person of God. I chose to take a special Bible class in
which I had an hour to focus on the Bible and my faith. This helped me towards my life goal to
realize that focusing on one goal can often get me to my

Immunizing Society Against Discrimination
The themes of racism and growing up are significant in Harper Lee s novel To Kill A
Mockingbird. Atticus Finch, a lawyer, is trying to defend a black man who has been falsely
accused in a trial. His children Scout and Jem don t understand a lot of the racism occurring in the
beginning, but slowly start to realize that people are being discriminated against and understand
what they may be going through as they grow up and mature. How is discriminationinfectious? It
can influence the young by family and/or society. Atticus s children Scout and Jem, are brought up
with the values of non discrimination and these values will help them go far in life. Through the
characters of Scout and Jem, Harper Lee demonstrates that when growing up, people who are
exposed to discrimination are encouraged to discriminate in return.
Discrimination is contagious and harmful for the well being of the society. This book shows how
the mad dog which symbolizes racism, can enter a town and spread over like a disease. Calpurnia
phones Atticus and shouts There is a mad dog down the street (Lee 123). The mad dog is sick
and diseased with rabies which represents racism that is about to enter the town and spread this
disease. Just like how rabies is contagious, so is racism. When Atticus shoots the mad dog it is
like he is shooting down racism and prevents this contagious disease from spreading over the town.
Secondly, Miss Maudie shows how one small nutgrass can spread and ruin a whole yard which

Selfishness In The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet
You will never understand the damage you have done to someone till the same thing is done to

Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is about two star crossed lovers who come from two families with a
ancient feud. Juliet is being forced to marry a man whom she does not love or even know. Then
Romeo meets Juliet, they fall in love which causes many problems. In the play, the two star
crossed lovers die at the fault of Rome because he was selfish, unreasonable, and impulsive. In
Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet , Romeo causes death by repeatedly being

Deborah Tannen There Is No Unmarked Woman
There is something subtle about attitudes toward women, something that many people act in
accordance to but are only subconsciously aware of. It is the constant judgment that women face,
and it is also something Deborah Tannen noticed while sitting in an ordinary meeting one day.
During that meeting, she found herself noticing only the females of the room, not the men. Tannen
then realized that it was because The men s styles were unmarked (Tannen 389). While there are
standard hairstyles and clothing for men, there are none for women. Everything that a womanwears
is a reflection of who she is. In her piece titled There Is No Unmarked Woman, she writes about her
experience and concludes that women cannot escape judgment no matter what they do.

In this piece, Tannen is sad and disappointed that women are still treated differently than men are.
According to Tannen, there is nothing a woman can resort to if she does not want to be judged.
That is, no woman is unmarked . For example, she states that There is no woman s hair style that
can be called standard, that says nothing about her. The range of women s hair styles is
staggering, but a woman whose hair has no particular style is perceived as not caring about how
she looks... (390). If a woman were to opt for a plain hairstyle, it would still give a message. In
writing about this, Tannen comes to a startling conclusion. She finds that, even today, women have

Facebook’s Non-Compliance with Canadian Privacy Laws
The world of privacy has changed, and Canada s laws need to keep up. Personal information has
been called the oil of the digital economy and as companies drill for more data, the risk to
privacy are growing exponentially. After an investigation conducted in 2009 prompted by a
complaint filed from the Canadian Policy and Public Interest Clinic, the Office of the Privacy
Commissioner has concluded that Facebook s current practices of third party applications do not
comply with Canadian Privacy Laws. The Commissioner s concerns include inadequate disclosure
to users about what is being disclosed, lack of consent, and lack of control over personal
information with third party developers. With these findings, the Commissioner has proposed
several recommendations for Facebook to take on, however the company has refused to comply. In
this paper I will argue that the Office of Privacy Commission requires stronger enforcement powers
in ordering Facebook to change its third party application practices in order to effectively protect
consumers personal information. We live in a regulatory state. The idea of the regulatory state is
that a new institutional and policy style has emerged, in which governments role as regulator
advances while its role as a direct employer or property owner may decline through privatization
Consumers are currently protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic
Documents Act dealing with the personal information under the private

Research Project On Global Solar Radiation
1Methodology
The flow chart below shows the methodology used in this research project. The difficulty
encountered in the project was putting together data from the internet data base. Also, actual
meteorological data requests for the sites under study were made but no respond. Hence, developed
forecast models data base to put together the data needed for the study.
1.1Data Source and Sorting
Meteorological parameter data for four regional towns in PNG were collected for this study. In
addition, geographical locations and each sites geometrical standard parameters were calculated
using formulas used by [43] in developing empirical solar radiation prediction models. Global solar
radiation (GRS) data were obtained from National Aeronautics ... Show more content on

A combine total of 19,240 data for the four regional sites were supposed to be sampled for the
neural network training (including the leap days). However, substantial amount of missing daily
mean data were observed for each site. Table 1 summarizes the breakup of data sample used for
this project..
All the data were sorted into daily and monthly mean as inputs for training, testing and validation,
with solar radiation as target output data. The 2016 meteorological data (January to September)
were sample data used for training and predicting solar radiation.
In data pre processing, the raw data is normalized to remove the outliers and inaccurate data in
the hope of achieving good results. Several statistical procedures are used in this purpose as
highlighted by [38, 39]. However, in order to fully appreciate the importance and reliability of
ANN in actually predicting solar radiation without using normalized or pre processed data, it was
necessary to use the primary data [48]. The dates that had no recordings, that is missing data,
blanks, errors, and zeros were deleted with their corresponding rows of values [40].
The four regional sites have varying seasonal weather patterns, therefore it was important that to
improve the reliability of the ANN training output, geographical information of the locations had to
be included in the models. Similar studies

How Far Was the Provisional Government Responsible for Its...
When the Provisional Government came into power Russia was in a state of major unrest.
Russia had just overthrown the Tsarist regime, which had been in place for three hundred years
and there were multiple groups who wanted to take power for themselves such as Lenin s
Bolsheviks, they were fighting in an endless war and losing terribly, peasants where rebelling in
the countryside and the people were angered over food shortages. On top of all these problems
the Provisional Government was made up of members of the Duma who had no experience
actually being in charge or having power over anything let alone the biggest and most culturally
diverse country in the world. All these factors played a role in the downfall of the Provisional
Government but overall it was the Provisional Government who played the biggest part in their
own failure.
When started the Provisional Government was an interim government which was to govern Russia
until a new constitution was drawn up. But as soon as the Provisional Government was put in
charge it faced the immediate problem of legitimacy. It was made up of members of the Duma
and was dominated by members of the Octoberist and Kadet parties, who were minorities with
only one radical member, Alexander Kerensky. This would give the Provisional Government the
problem of not truly representing the people. If it was made up of minorities how can it represent
the majority? The Provisional Government also faced the problem of the All Russia Soviet. The

Charlie Davis Character Comparison
Character Comparison Essay
In the book Girl In Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow, the main character Charlie Davis and a later
mentioned character, Riley West, has many similarities because the both have gone through
traumatic experiences and has lost or has been left abandoned by the people they love. Although
they both have similarities, both characters have differences between them because Riley s way
of coping through stress of abandonment and loss is substance abuse of drugs and alcohol and
Charlie s way of dealing with it is self harm, and even after that, both characters has made it out
of a distressing and destructive life. Kathleen Glasgow purpose of writing this book is reflected off
of Charlie Davis and Riley West s differences because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charlie has already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime, and is still struggling with
depression, in Arizona, due to the traumatic experiences she s encountered. Charlie Davis is a
character of few words because of her long episodes of disassociation with the world around her.
Because Charlie suffers from selective mutism and has a shy personality, which makes her feel
different from others around her, there are parts of the novel in which the Charlie Davis is left
silently perceiving and even actively disconnected from the world around her. I can tell that she
feels disconnected and silently observes because she says, I cut all my words out. My heart was
too full of them (Page 4). Because of her feeling of separation from others, especially those who
has their life all figured out, she starts feeling detached, memories from her disturbing experiences
begin to appear, and she remembers all those who has abandoned her, she does self harm, once
again. However later on, after Charlie s second attempt at suicide, she finds her way through her
depression and stress after finding her best friend she thought had died, and finally started molding

there were some different types of ways you can I guess consider it. With just it being different

The Major Benefits Of The Education Of Music
Music plays an important role in our world, as the global dictionary of theology says, Music is a
part of everyday life. From heavy beats pounding in cars, to advertising jingles on radio (King), or
as Ruth Jorgensen says, music was a social phenomenon and examined some of the ways in which
groups form around particular beliefs and practices (Jorgensen). Musichas benefited the world in
many ways all throughout history, from the expression of love and devotion towards god in a
mass to the expressionism and individuality of jazz during the New Negro movement these are just
a few of the many ways music has impacted our world greatly. Carlos R. Abril, and Brent M. Gault
wrote in their journal research that some of the major benefits of the education of music consist of
the transmission of cultural ideas and beliefs, the development of a sensitivity to and appreciation
for the arts, and the opportunity to foster creativity, teamwork, and cooperation through
participation in music (Abril and Gault). It is our responsibility to see how music has improved us
as humans and it is our responsibility to raise our future generation with the understanding, love,
and creativity that comes with the teaching of music.
As Abril and Gault have said, one of the many benefits of musical education is the transmission of
cultural ideas (Abril and Gault). What they are pointing out is that through the education and
exposure of the culturally diverse music, we subject our children in the

Research Paper On T-Mobile Hacking
Nothing in this world is limitless not even T Mobile s unlimited data plan. On Monday T Mobile
CEO John Legere went on Twitter and announced that the company would be banning 1/100
percent of its users that Legere believes is abusing their unlimited data plans.
THE ABUSERS
Legere said this ban would only affect an extremely small number of T Mobile subscribers, and
that the abuse was mostly coming from users who were taking advantage of the company s
tethering feature. Tethering is a feature that let s people use their phones like hotspots: emitting
data out to other wireless devices like a tablet or a laptop. This let s the abusers essentially have a
free home network so they don t need to pay for additional internet packages through an internet
service provider (ISP). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are hacking the system to swipe high speed tethered data, wrote Legere in a recent blog post
on the subject. These aren t naive amateurs; they are clever hackers who are willfully stealing for
their own selfish gain.
HOW THEY RE PULLING IT OFF
Now, to be upfront, T Mobile gives users a monthly allowance of data that can be tethered. That s
usually around five gigabytes of data, which is plenty for most people. You can get a lot
accomplished on a laptop over the course of a month and never even come near that amount of
data... at least, not until you start streaming media content.
These hackers are using the tethering feature to use up to two terabytes in some cases, which is
well over the allotted amount. Typically, once a user reaches their limit then T Mobile will
throttle their data, which means their download and upload speeds will see a pretty noticeable
decrease. In order to circumvent this, the hackers are using apps that allow them to hide their
usage from T Mobile, so the company never actually sees how much data is being used by the user.

Infanticide In The Woman Warrior
A horrific taboo occurs twice in the novel The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among
Ghosts by Maxine Hong Kingston, infanticide. Infanticide is the act of murdering an infant,
specifically the person s own child. When this situation occurs in the writing, there is a different
significance to Chinese culture than the other. What is the context behind this cruel act in Kingston
s book about tieing ancient Chinese tales with her own life? Both times infanticide is brought up a
powerful emotion develops in the reader, such as grief or anger. The main purpose of infanticide in
the novelis to force the reader to think what is right and wrong. The first time infanticide appears is

The section titled Shamen is about Brave Orchid s journey to become a midwife and her very
different life in China. She once mentioned to Kingston the story of one particular baby that was
born with something missing, One child born without an anus was left in the outhouse so that the
family would not have to hear it cry (101). This is a case of infanticide that could not be stopped.
A baby born without an anus, especially in the 1930s, generally has no hope of surviving. The
parents left it in the outhouse so they would not have to hear it crying and suffering.
Nonetheless, it is said that the baby lasted a long time, breathing as if it was trying to defecate
for almost a week. While this infant was doomed from the second it was born, it fought to survive
and lasted much longer than what the family and Brave Orchid expected. The substance behind
this infanticide is to demonstrate that even the ill fated are still able to fight for survival. The
baby beat the odds of living only a day, much like how females in China, such as the warrior Mu
Lan can prove that they can do more than cook and clean. Although, maybe the parents should have
tried to help the infant instead of leave it outside and soothe it through it s

Factors Influencing The Factor Analysis
Factor analysis According to Maria Eva, the factor analysis is a technique in the statistics to
observe variability in the correlated variables in terms of lowers number of unobserved variables,
which is necessary for factorization (Maria Eva, 2012). Dehak, Kenn, Dehak, Dumouchel, Ouellet,
further stated that, the factor analysisis useful technique to investigate the relationship between the
variables in complex concepts and the main purpose of the factor analysis is to reduce the number
of variables associated with the measure and to detect the structures of the relationship between the
variables (Dehak, Kenn, Dehak, Dumouchel, Ouellet, 2011) .
The application of factor analysis widely used in social research (Steinfeld, Navon, Creech,
Yakhini, Tsalenko, 2014). The current study employs factor analysis to reduce the items in the
questionnaire for data reduction as per the recommendations of In addition, the factor analysis is
used to construct the factor based on the items in the scale (Wang Ahmed, 2004). Hence, the factor
analysis is used for data reduction and structuring the variables. Factor analysis has two types as
discussed below, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (Costello Osborne, 2005).
Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) Costello Osborne, (2005) said that, factor analysis is used to
uncover the structure of relatively large set of variables in the data(Costello Osborne, 2005). EFA

The attitude the church had towards the Aboriginals is an important thing to mention, as shown
in Bran Nue Dae the church has a view of them as sinners. They view it as their duty to help or
convert these people to bring them on the path of God, even mentioning in the movie that they
wanted to see the Aborigines educated and that Willie should save his people. In the movie,
Father Benedictus refers to the Aboriginals as: I should ve known one of your Aborigine kind,
Father Benedictus (Geoffrey Rush), 018:14 This suggests that Father Benedictus held a kind of
prejudice towards them as thieves or rogues who would do bad things, however, racism towards
aboriginals wasn t uncommon in the 1960 s. The stereotypes that the church had towards the
Aboriginals is a focus in Bran Nue Dae as it was why Willie left the church and Father

story. Bran Nue Dae also shows how expectations can effect a person in the

Mining and The Environment Essay examples
Introduction In our days, mining for resources is inevitable. The resources we need are valuable
in everyday life. Such resources mined up are coal, copper, gold, silver, and sand. However,
mining poses environmental risks that can degrade the quality of soil and water, which can end up
effecting us humans if not taken care of and many of the damages are irreversible once they have
occurred.
History and Case Studies of Mining and the Effects on the Environment Mines pose a threat to the
environment. They can degrade soil and water quality if left untreated. The United States

These left over tailings create human and ecological health problems that can be caused from
exposure to the dust that are blown from these mine sites since metal toxicants can persist in tailing
particles (arizona.edu, 2008). Another threat to the environment is acid mine drainage (also known
as acid rock drainage). Acid mine drainage is the outflow of acidic water from a mining site. This
acid is formed by the oxidation of iron sulfide. The oxidation occurs when iron sulfide is
exposed to the air or to dissolved oxygen in the water, which causes the iron to rust and the sulfur
reacts with the water to forum sulfuric acid (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and Higman, B., 2010).
Figure 2 illustrates the sulfuric acid that is formed. Acid mine drainage is most common with
hardrock mines where metal ore is bound together with sulfur. The increased acidity created from
acid mine drainage has a series of negative effects, depending on the severity of change in the pH
level. The acid mine drainage creates inhospitable environments to aquatic life in river systems
and former mine sites, with the exception of extremophile bacteria (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and
Higman, B., 2010). Acid mine drainage can severely degrade the quality of the water, especially if
it s a essential water supply.
Solutions There are two primary methods of preventing acid mine drainage fall. One is preventing
sulfuric acid from forming, and the other is neutralizing the acid after it forms. In

Personal Growth Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Personal Growth in Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath uses this quote in The Bell Jar to
show the main character Esther Greenwood struggles. The quote states as followed, There is
something demoralizing about watching two people get more and more crazy about each other,
especially when you are the only extra person in the room. It s like watching Paris from an
express caboose heading in the opposite direction every second the city gets smaller and smaller,
only you feel it s really you getting smaller and smaller and lonelier and lonelier, rushing away
from all those lights and excitement at about a million miles an hour (Plath 110). Plath uses this
quote to encapsulate the true feelings of the main character and her struggles with social
conformity. It is obvious that Esther Greenwood is directly inspired by Plath herself. The many
similarities include their pseudonyms, the absence of a father, their young age, and their high level
of intelligence. The only major difference is Esther s suicideattempt was fortunately unsuccessful
while Sylvia Plath s was unfortunately successful. Plath committed suicide at the age of thirty due

Ancient Civilization Society
Ever since man began to roam this earth some 3 5 million years ago, societies have been evolving
and growing to bring us to the current civilizations that we have today. Although there are some
general differences between the societies such as origin, appearance, and tradition there is far more
argumentation to reinforce how similarly they evolved and developed. To begin, it is indispensable
that we delve into the earliest forms of humanity.
Most if not all groups maintained their survival through a similar nomadic lifestyle of hunting and
gathering. Continuation of early societies also depended on living off of the river. The Tigris and
Euphrates, Nile River, and Indus Valley provided a source to fish as well as fertile land for the
Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Harappan societies respectively. In India and China, the elders of the
family were looked at as the leaders and decision makers. This continues on through the
development of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Olmec and Persian empires as variations of Kings and
Pharaohs are a precedent of dominance. Religion was a primary part of life in ancient civilizations
as it is today. Although there are differences between monotheistic and polytheistic groups, worship
was crucial to the development of the Maya and Olmec as well as the Hebrews and Israelites. One

harshness of the ancient world. Of course differences can be observed, but it is the similarities that

The Battle Of The Union Line
Even despite Jackson s victory on May 2nd, by the next morning Hooker s forces were still in a
strong position. Union forces numbered 76,000 to Lee s 43,000 and overnight Reynolds corps
from Fredericksburg had arrived to replace Howard s defeated corps. Hooker then ordered
Sickles to withdraw his men from Hazel Grove to a new position on Plank Road. This decision
by Hooker was another costly mistake because it conceded the only high ground to the
Confederates. After Sickles movement back to Plank Road, the Union line resembled a giant
horseshoe around Chancellorsville. At approximately 5:30 a.m., Lee attacked the Union line
from all three sides: Stuart, who had taken over for Jackson from the west, Anderson from the
southeast, and McLaws from the east. Using their newly acquired ground at Hazel Grove as an
artillery platform to support the assault, the Confederates beat back the Union s fierce resistance
around Chancellorsville. At around 10 a.m. after the heaviest fighting of the battle, Hooker
ordered his army to retreat to a position circling their ford site of the Rappahannock. As Lee rode
up to survey the scene at Chancellorsville wild triumphant shouts came from his soldiers (Sears
365). However, Lee s moment was cut short upon the news that Sedgwick s forces had broken
through the Confederate s east flank at Fredericksburg. Sedgwick, following orders from Hooker
had attacked Early s small Confederate contingent left at Fredericksburg at 7 a.m. Early s

Explain The Paradox Of Thrift
Macroeconomics Problem Set
Critical thinking: Paradoxes in Macroeconomics. The Macro/Micro difference
We are, in short, temporarily on the other side of the looking glass. The combination of the
liquidity trap even a zero interest rate isn t low enough to restore full employment and the overhang
of excessive debt has landed us in a world of paradoxes, a world in which virtue is vice and
prudence is folly, and most of the things serious people demand that we do actually make our
situation worse .
Introduction
I will briefly explain about what I am going to do in the essay. o Response to the title o Give some
history about the three paradoxes o Give a brief assessment of what is happening in the economy.
Point 1
Paradox of Thrift o Paradox of thrift: is a theory, which states if everyone tries to save moneyat the

macroeconomics looks at the bigger picture and looking at how the whole economy useless scarce
resources. So in fact one thing may be good for someone, however it may not be good for someone
else.
However there are also occasions when savings can benefit the economy. o For instance if people
save in the economy, it could lead to future wealth. Because if people place more money into the
bank. The banks will be able to lend money to businesses, who can invest money on machinery,
which will then create the money multiplier.

Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis
Shady Kamel
Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape
was completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute
monarchy and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on
the verge of bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon
after. Impacted by the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the
strength of the will of the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of
its citizens. Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter
society and the social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor
James Alexander Dun argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this
instance, and is in fact used as an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to
the situation. He believes that a revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the
Haitian revolution is more complex than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn
t be viewed as a thing, but rather, should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion
as it challenges conventional thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with
France and Haiti. This reasoning expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary

Euripides Apollonius Of Rhodes Argonautica
In Apollonius of Rhodes Argonautica, written in the 3rd Century BC, the character Medea s
complexity intrigues, enchants and horrifies us. Her passionate dedication to Jason and,
consequently, the failure of their marriage, leads Medea to commit multiple horrific acts. She plans
and commits the murders of numerous people, including her own two sons. However, it is not
Medeas free will that leads her to commit these actions. Medea s decisions are not a consequence
of her own cruelty, but of her desperation, since her free will has been stolen by men around her.
Medea is an archetype of a woman betrayed, who sacrifices her own power for the goal of another
in the name of love, of a marriage gone wrong. Who has not known of an intelligent woman who
fell in love, gave up her opportunities to make the success of her husband possible, only to be
thrown away for a younger and more beautiful woman? Apollonius immerses Medea in a story of
revenge, war and bloodshed. At its core though, Medea s own story is about betrayal and being an
outsider. Medea should not be identified as a savage, but as a symbol of what can occur when an
unbearably distressed person is oppressed and outcast by their family, husband, and society.
The involvement of the gods in the Argonautica shows us how the free will that was once Medea s
is stolen by gods in order to shape the fates of characters. When Hera presently broke the silence
with the following scheme... in the hope that he can be persuaded to

The Merchant in The Canterbury Tales is influenced by the standards of society of the tale. The

Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Battle Of Marathon
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on March 6, 1806 in England. She was the first of twelve
children. Her family were wealthy sugar plantation owners on the British held island of Jamaica
Elizabeth was encouraged by her mother to learn several different languages and by the time
she was six she knew French, Latin and Greek. In 1816, at age 10, Elizabeth was so proficient in
French, she composed a classical French tragedy, Regulus. By the time she was twelve she was
writing short novels and plays. Her poem The Battle of Marathon, was privately printed for her
fourteenth birthday. Elizabeth s work was rooted in religious and government themes. She also
wrote about freedom and love, for even at a young age felt empathy for the slaves her family
held. Elizabeth and her three sisters became ill in 1821, with headaches and convulsions. Her
two sisters recovered quickly, however Elizabeth then came down with a case of the measles.
She was sent away to recover, however after 10 months she was still not well. She complained of
swollen spine. Doctors disagreed on her diagnosis and treatment, but she did spend and extended
amount of time in a spine crib ; which was believed to have made her weaker. One treatment the
doctors did agree on was the use of Opium. This combined with laudanum was a common practice
for many illnesses during the 19th century. Addiction to opiates was not understood or even fully
known by some doctors. While Elizabeth did seem to get better

A Report On Covenant Capital Management
Covenant Capital Management was founded in 1999, and since then, it increasingly grew its AUM
to approximately $300 million for its clients around the world. The firm s headquarters are located
in Nashville; in addition, they have a fully redundant branch office in Chicago. The founders,
Brince Wilford and Scot Billington, focus their effort on the refinement of their core strategy which
has not changed since the inception of the firm. CCM partners with select institutional clients in the
development of customized trading models that achieve specific risk and return stream objectives.
Covenant Capital Management is a Boutique CTA designed to fill the void between small CTA
with no track records and huge institutional funds that are too big to take good care of the small
investors. CCM wants to be a CTA that offers the best of both worlds, using innovative trading
model that yields unique and reliable return streams as well as institutional grade infrastructure. The
firm remains small enough to have decent exposure to all market sectors yet secure enough to have
institutional grade compliance, technology, and back office services.
The goal of this paper is to explain why CCM s aggressive program is a good alternative to any
investor looking to diversify its portfolio. The paper will be divided in three distinct parts: the
operational analysis, the quantitative analysis and a comparison against its peers (including the
impact of CCM in a traditional portfolio).

Coacervates Lab
Purpose or Objective: The purpose of performing this lab is to create greater understanding of the
origin of life hypothesis by creating coacervates and testing some of their properties, in this case
permeability.
Experiment 1: The purpose of this lab is to discover which pH coacervates are most abundant at,
and how they develop and behave.
Extension: The purpose of the lab extension was to test a coacervate membrane s permeability to
crystal violet dye.
Background and Theory:
Essential Question: At what pH will coacervates be most abundant, and when will they start forming
Hypothesis 1: I predict that coacervates will start developing at a pH of 5 and will be most
abundant at a pH of 4.5. Since the coacervates form after adding hydrochloric ... Show more content

It is not known how life came to be on the earth, but it is proven that it has evolved over time, and
life is unified by a common ancestor. In the 1920s, a hypothesis was created by scientists
Alexander Oparin and J.B.S. Haldane, that predicted that the first life forms were formed in an
acidic primordial sea. Oparin believed that a string of of chemical reactions within an aquatic
environment had led to the formation of coacervates. Coacervates are aggregates of organic
polymers that have life like characteristics, but are not alive. When Oparin created coacervates,
he used a couple different solutions of macromolecules to form these aggregates, and he
discovered that the coacervates had a selectively permeable membrane. It is thought that
coacervates may have been one of the first pieces in the origin of life on Earth. This lab uses a
carbohydrate, gum arabic, and a protein, gelatin to create coacervates. As we carry out the
procedures to create the coacervates, we will observe how coacervates are formed and what
characteristics they share with life. Through doing this, we will gain better understanding of the
Oparin Haldane hypothesis and the possible explanation of how life was formed on Earth. (

Security Log Examples
Description of Detection Application (EventlD Log): While the role of reaction has traditionally
been assumed by the system or network manager, we start by programming the IDS which operate
online and in real time to behave either reactively or proactively to assure that fraud has become
under control. So, reactive means to point and respond to the detection of an intrusion by, for
example, terminating the suspect process, disconnecting the offending user, or modifying a router
filter list. Secondly, a proactive would not wait to flag an intrusion, nonetheless would instead take
pre emptive countermeasures; it might, for example, actively interrogate all existing user processes,
perhaps using counterfeit Trojan utilities, and terminate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

combined event data and packet captures in a single file, grouped by a network task and the
related network activity. The output file, the messages will provide the Log Analytics where it
offers predefined of common event log names. You can find the full name of user, time of

common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network). Using Event ID is just one way, where the
EventlD is a rich database of logging events. However, it s not the only way of detecting and
monitoring network traffic for fraud or intrusion. There are an open source tools and paid

The Impact Of Payment With Credit Card
Abstract: In a field experiment, we measure the impact of payment with credit card as compared
with cash on insurance company employees spending on lunch in a cafeteria. We exogenously
changed some diners payment medium from cash to a credit card by giving them an incentive to
pay with a credit card. Surprisingly, we find that credit cards do not increase spending. However,
the use of credit cards has a differential impact on spending for revolvers (who carry debt) and
convenience users (who do not): Revolvers spend less when induced to spend with a credit card,
whereas convenience users display the opposite pattern.

This decline in savings roughly coincided with a secular increase in the dissemination and use of
credit cards, raising at least the possibility that the proliferation of credit cards contributed to the
downward trend. While it is true that the total level of credit card debt is too small to account for
much of the decrease in the savings rate
(Parker 1999), it is possible that credit cards could contribute to low savings if accumulated
credit card debt is being transferred to other forms of debt, such as borrowing against real estate.
Beyond the rationale for regulation based on macroeconomic goals, there might also be a
rationale for the regulation of credit cards based on individual welfare. If credit card use leads to
supra optimal spending and ultimately to personal financial hardship, their regulation could be
potentially justified on much the same basis as the regulation of certain types of drugs, which
are outlawed because they are viewed as too tempting and dangerous. There is, in fact, some
evidence of a correlation between debt and financial distress. For example, Brown et al. (2005)
observe a negative correlation between unsecured debt, including credit card debt, and
psychological well being. Brown et al. also found no comparable relationship between secured i.e.
mortgage debt and well being. But again, one cannot infer causation; it may be that credit card debt

Essay on Margaret Hilda Thatcher
Margaret Hilda Thatcher
Margaret Hilda Thatcher s overwhelming sense of self confidence and ambition ruled her life
from the time she was a small child in Grantham, though her Oxford years and during her early
years in politics. It led her to become the first female Prime Minister of Great Britain, and also
helped through her difficult political years as quot;Attila the Hun quot;.
Britain s first female Prime Minister was born on October 13, 1925 in a small room over a grocer s
shop in Grandham, England. Margaret Hilda was the second daughter of Alfred and Beatrice
Roberts. She often stated that she was brought up very strictly:

She enjoyed the tough verbal conflict of parliamentary debates. She had a quick mind and an even
quicker tongue, along with an enormous self confidence. She liked to fight and liked to win.
In 1975, the Conservatives were the first party in Britain to chose a woman as leader and potential
Prime Minister:
It was the backbenchers, not the Leader, or his Shadow Cabinet, who forced a ballot, and it was a
backbenchers candidate who emerged triumphant from it.
When the election was announced on January 23, and in the first ballot Margaret had the support
of only one member of a Shadow Cabinet of 23 she was regarded with suspicion by most of those
managing the party machine at Central Office, and opposed by many in the National Union. In
short, she was an anti establishment candidate. Her campaign manager was a backbencher,
backbenchers of varying shades of opinion made up her campaign committee who voted decisively
for change(Gardiner, 1975, p.204).
In May 1979, Thatcher became the first female Prime Minister of Great
Britain. Her party won again in 1983 and 1987. Thatcher resigned as Prime
Minister and leader of the Conservative Party in November 1990, after loosing the support of the
party. She remained in the House of Commons until 1992. In the same year, Thatcher was made a
Baroness by the queen and became a member of the House of Lords.

To further secure the local area network, the network security team will be implementing the

The NCAA and its student athletes deal with much more than are seen by the general public.
The coaches and players always have hidden agendas. Scandals or infractions are committed
every year in collegiate sports and are left unnoticed. The NCAA does its best in trying to keep
this under control but have difficulty doing so. Student Athletes receiving improper benefits and

If an athlete is happy and performs well it reflects well on the coach and helps him to keep his
job. Ensuring the athletes play is the greatest goal for some coaches. Most athletes understand
this and in turn start to receive cash and other gifts because they know they can. They begin to
feel entitled to pay for play (Matt Ryan 3). The schools do not do much to prevent this from
happening though. They don t give extra food to athletes that do more physical activity than most
ordinary students. Neither do they offer more spacious room accommodations to larger athletes
that take up more space than the average student would. An athlete will not always take
advantages of their abilities for the cash. Some athletes are in dire need of money to help
themselves and their families. They may come from a low income household where they were
looked to for support. The importance of an athlete who was looked upon for support in the family
before college isn t as understood by the NCAA (McMurphy 6). The athletes and programs that are
caught are most always severely punished. They can be placed on restriction for various things. The
most common forms of punishment are a reduction of the scholarships allotted [or] post season
banning (NCAA Compliance 5). Being caught also suspends the athlete from all athletic
involvement. This could devastate the athlete but it is deserved. They would be eligible had they

The Benefits of Forests to Societies
INTRODUCTION Forests have diverse ecological roles and provide multiple resources for
society in addition to the mere direct wood products. They act as habitat for animals, play
significant role in water cycling and soil development, provide resins, oils, mushrooms etc, and
also used as hunting and recreation place. Mediterranean forests are characterized by multi
functionality and associated diversity in both wood and non wood forest products (NWFP). The
most valuable non wood forest products from these forests include pine nuts, cork, edible fungi
and resins (Bravo et al., 2011). Wilde edible fungi, which is getting much attention as one of
NWFPs due to its potential is the focus of this study. Boa (2004) stated that wild edible fungi are
valuable non wood forest products throughout the world and have a clear potential for commercial
use. Some fungi such as boletes (Boletus edulis) or saffron milk caps (Lactarius group deliciosus)
are specially valued in many countries, and their trade has become an important complementary
economic activity in many regions (Voces et al., 2011; Cai et al., 2011; MartГ
nez de AragГіn et al.,
2011). Some studies have also showed that the market demand for many ectomycorrhizal fungi
has increased to the extent that commercial value of forest fungi may equal or even surpass the
value of timber (Alexander et al., 2002; Arnolds et al., 1995; Oria de Rueda et al., 1991). This has
triggered a growing interest from forest owners and managers to

Great Expectations Setting Essay
The settings of Great Expectations are Pip s homes, one home that he lives in during his
childhood in Kent, England, and the other that he lives in when he is grown in London, England.
Social status was a big deal in the mid nineteenth century. The rich were highly respected and liked
by all, and the poor were treated unkindly and were sometimes made fun of. The rich could have
any job that they liked, but the poor would almost always take over the job that their father had.
The narrator of Great Expectationsis Pip. If the novel were narrated from any other point of view,
it would not have the same effect as it does now. The protagonist of Great Expectations is Pip. At

There are many symbols in Great Expectations. The one that caught my eye the most was the
stopped clocks in Miss Havisham s house. She wants to stop time because that s when she was
going to get married. On page 44, Pip noticed this: I took note of the surrounding objects in
detail, and saw that her watch was stopped at twenty minutes to nine, and a clock in the room
had been stopped at twenty minutes to nine. The Satis House represents how much Pip wanted
to be an upper classman gentleman. When Pip was inside of the house, he shared with the
reader, This was very uncomfortable, and I was half afraid. The last symbol would be Joe
representing Pip s conscience, because Joe was so kind to Pip. For example, when Mrs. Joe
would shriek at Pip, Joe offered me more gravy. Pip was always being pushed around by grown
ups. He was forced to bring a man food. He was in love with Estella, who was mean to him and
made fun of him. Pip was forced to work with Joe and another cruel man named Orlick. His
sister, with whom he was living with, was attacked one day, but no one knew who it was. Pip
moved to London and met Herbert Pocket and became friends with him. Pip met the man who
forced him to bring food one day. The man, named Abel Magwitch, revealed that he was Pip s
secret benefactor. Pip gets a note one day to go to the marshes. He does, and Orlick was there,
informing Pip that it was he that had killed Mrs. Joe. When Herbert comes and tries to catch

The Importance Of Books In The Kite Runner, By Khaled...
One must always be careful of books and what is inside them, for words have the power to
change us (Cassandra Clare) Books influence the way one thinks. Books are capable of changing
one s thought process completely. Every book consists of unique ideas. Some books makes you
think. Kite runner by Khaled Hosseiniis a thought provoking book. The book consists of many
important themes. Throughout the book Hosseini illustrates Important of reading and literacy,
horrors of wars and and equality. If all books of the world are burned, The Kite Runner by Khaled
Hosseini should be saved because it explains all the basic aspects of life such as literacy, peace and
equality.
When book are being burnt, literacy is being harmed. Literacy is the ability to read and write.
Without being able to read or write, the importance of books is unknown. As shown in
Fahrenheit 451, the importance of book in unknown until one reads it or shows interest. In
order to create interest in book, importance of literacy must be shown. In the book The Kite
Runner, Hosseini represents the importance of being able to read and write. Literacy is one of
the basic themes of the book. Hosseini also states Words were secret doorways and I held all the
keys (4.25, The Kite Runner). This quote represents that literacy provides dominance. Amir is
literate, while hassan is not. When Amir reads books to Hassan, he can change words as he wants
as Hassan will never know. This shows being illiterate allows one to be

Reflection On Organizational Change
I first off would like to start by saying these past 8 weeks have been a great experience! I have
been able to learn and gain new skills and tools that will not only help me in the rest of my
schooling, but will be very beneficial when it comes to my career. I have really enjoyed getting
to see all different experiences out there and a variety of perspectives on what one has done or
not when in that situation. It certainly has opened my eyes up to the world and I feel I am more
aware and ready for what might come my way now. Although after reading the Let s Drive a
Stake In the Heart of the Industrial Age! you never really know what s going to happen next. I
plan to use all the OB tools that I have been able to learn about in this term to assist the
transformational process in organizational models. Using these tools will helpthis process go more
smoothly and make it easier not only for the company but for the employees and customers. The
transformational process in any company is hard and can be very challenging during a time like
this. I believe that changeis challenging just from my experiences and that it can take more time
than one thinks or wants it to. I personally am not a fan of change, so when there is a change
going on in my personal or professional life I hope it is quick and easy (which it is rarely ever).
I have learned though change is good. As much as I may hate it, it is necessary and it cannot be
avoided. I learned these past weeks and have seen examples where some individuals in a
company will resist change, even leaders, and that is where I find the OB tools to help and make
the change as easy as possible for everyone in the company. I know this is something I will do to
assist the transformational process in organizational models in my future company. I will use the
strategies we have learned in this course to help and be more effective. One concept in this course
I have learned and it has stuck with me is focusing on employees. Without good relationships with
employees and making sure they are happy and acknowledged the work within the company will
not get done effectively and efficiently. As a manager, I will make sure that all employees are
managed, able to express their

Similarities Between Baroque And Baroque Eras
Introduction
European design has evolved over the centuries from the Renaissance era of the 15th century to
Baroque era of the 16th century right through to the Rococo era of the late 1700 s. Even though the
style might have changed, some elements can be traced across all three periods.
This essay will explore the similarities and differences in the aforementioned eras by singling out 4
different examples from these eras and how these influenced or affected the society and patrons
who commissioned these artworks at that time.
Emphasis will be placed on specific examples that best demonstrate the style of each era. The
image examples used in this essay are firstly the ceiling of the Sistine chapel and the bronze David

After the peak of the Renaissance era of 1600 Rome, there was a move towards a style that was
more dramatic and celebrated the church and the elite. This style melodramatically reaffirmed the
emotional depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art,
1933:284). Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion
and movement in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the
ostentatious interiors homes of the elite and the church was highly decorated.
Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to
create depth and realism.
The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly
shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect.
Rococo
The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed
to that of Baroque. Though there are similarities between the two stylistic periods, Rococo design
is more ornate and motifs usually resemble shells and stones and the intricate designs are often
gilded with gold and other precious metals. The colour palette is muted and emphasis is placed on
the design rather than the

  • 2. Patient s Impairment Based on the information gathered from the initial physical therapy evaluation and examination, the patient s subjective and objective findings determined the patient s prominent impairments. The patient s postural changes, generalized weakness, fatigue, muscle shortening and patellofemoral pain contributed to her abnormal lateral tracking of the patella, inability to walk long distances, stand for prolonged periods of time, and complete ADL with ease. The patient presented with a forward flexed posture of the spine, which can be associated with the weakness of the trunk and core musculature. Tightness of the hamstrings justifies postural changes and lack of full knee extension. Shortening of the ITB contributes to patellofemoral pain secondary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Example Of Syncretism The term syncretism refers to the process of amalgamation of conflicting principles and cultural practices among two or more religions. This concept syncretism plays an important role in the rise of secular nation states. In India the scene is such that at one hand, we encourage for the unity in diversity and on the other to find more about the differences among groups to indicate certain uniqueness. This strategy in a religious context can be a form of resistance for cultural dominance and certain power to be established over the so called minority groups. Though each group or community has its own distinctive identity and values, it does not and cannot exist isolated from the others. In this line of argument this paper written by JJ Roy... The shrine of Nizamuddin Auliya in Delhi or the Chirag Dargah of Delhi is a most famous syncretic shrine where Hindus and Muslims go to ask for blessings and Hindu grooms marry only after praying at the shrine. In a way all this points out the dynamics of assimilation and synthesis of Hinduism and Islam, also represents the complexity of the Indian civilization and the cordial nature of these religions across India. They help us to understand the syncretic culture we are all living in that is so deeply entrenched that cannot wear away so easily. And proves that labelling India as the land of Hindus is just a ... • 4. Development Of Optical Imaging Tools For Synapse Typing Essay Development of Optical Imaging Tools for Synapse Typing Restructure of synapse types and alternations of dynamics of neurotransmitters and neuromodulators have been implicated in a number of human neurological and psychiatric diseases, including autism, Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease, schizophrenia, and addiction1,2. However, little is known about how molecular compositions define different types and functions of synapses and how different synapses organize in micro and macroscale to give rise to complex brain functions and disorders, due to lack of appropriate tools to characterize synaptic biomolecules in situ in large scale. Here, I propose a novel research program to develop transformative tools for large scale mapping of synaptic biomolecules, functional imaging of neurotransmission and neuronal signaling. Specifically, it will evolve along three main themes: 1. Expansion pathology for highly multiplexed, in situ and nanoscale biomolecular imaging. 2. Optogenetic neurotransmitter indicator; 3. in situ imaging tools for endogenous protein protein interaction; This program will expand on the themes of my previous work on engineering optogenetic indicators for neuronal activities, such as calcium ions3,4 and voltage5,6 indicators, as well as my current work on devising a clinically optimized form of expansion microscopy7,8, which contribute new capabilities to the broader communities of neuroscience, cell biology, pathology and medicine. • 5. John Bunyan’s Pilgrime s Progress Essay Many people wonder what it would be like to go from a dangerous city where they live and journey to a plentiful heaven. This storyline is portrayed in John Bunyan s allegorical book, Pilgrim s Progress. This fascinating story describes the life of Christian, a married man living in the City of Destruction, who longs to travel to the Celestial City. As Christian struggles to stay on the right, though more difficult path, I fight to focus in school and not pay attention to distracting ideas. I also fight to get strong enough in dance to become a professional dancer, just as Christian has to climb the Hill of Difficulty to get to the Palace Beautiful. In order for Christian to arrive at the Celestial City without wasting away his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I stood strong and said no, my homework was more important to me than chatting. In the end, I realized that by focusing on what I knew was right, I set a good example for other people to follow. While some of my friends were mad at me, and questioned me for what I had chosen, I soon realized that taking my path would show others how being faithful towards a goal made life easier for me to follow God. In order for Christian to reach the Palace Beautiful, he has to climb the Hill of Difficulty. In the same way, I had to focus on my faith in order to become stronger person of God. Similarly, Christian discusses how the better way to go was the most difficult way versus the two other easy, but deathly paths: Better, though difficult, the Right Way to go, Than Wrong, though easy, where the End is Woe (Bunyan 53). Formalist and Hypocrisy both take the easier paths, but they end up in a deadly trap. While Christian struggles to get up the Hill of Difficulty, he makes it to the Palace alive. In the same manner, I struggled to focus on my faith, school, and dance all at once. Even though it was harder to stay strong in my faith, I learned that I soon became a stronger person of God. I chose to take a special Bible class in which I had an hour to focus on the Bible and my faith. This helped me towards my life goal to realize that focusing on one goal can often get me to my ... • 6. Immunizing Society Against Discrimination The themes of racism and growing up are significant in Harper Lee s novel To Kill A Mockingbird. Atticus Finch, a lawyer, is trying to defend a black man who has been falsely accused in a trial. His children Scout and Jem don t understand a lot of the racism occurring in the beginning, but slowly start to realize that people are being discriminated against and understand what they may be going through as they grow up and mature. How is discriminationinfectious? It can influence the young by family and/or society. Atticus s children Scout and Jem, are brought up with the values of non discrimination and these values will help them go far in life. Through the characters of Scout and Jem, Harper Lee demonstrates that when growing up, people who are exposed to discrimination are encouraged to discriminate in return. Discrimination is contagious and harmful for the well being of the society. This book shows how the mad dog which symbolizes racism, can enter a town and spread over like a disease. Calpurnia phones Atticus and shouts There is a mad dog down the street (Lee 123). The mad dog is sick and diseased with rabies which represents racism that is about to enter the town and spread this disease. Just like how rabies is contagious, so is racism. When Atticus shoots the mad dog it is like he is shooting down racism and prevents this contagious disease from spreading over the town. Secondly, Miss Maudie shows how one small nutgrass can spread and ruin a whole yard which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Deborah Tannen There Is No Unmarked Woman There is something subtle about attitudes toward women, something that many people act in accordance to but are only subconsciously aware of. It is the constant judgment that women face, and it is also something Deborah Tannen noticed while sitting in an ordinary meeting one day. During that meeting, she found herself noticing only the females of the room, not the men. Tannen then realized that it was because The men s styles were unmarked (Tannen 389). While there are standard hairstyles and clothing for men, there are none for women. Everything that a womanwears is a reflection of who she is. The range of women s hair styles is staggering, but a woman whose hair has no particular style is perceived as not caring about how she looks... (390). • 9. Facebook’s Non-Compliance with Canadian Privacy Laws The world of privacy has changed, and Canada s laws need to keep up. Personal information has been called the oil of the digital economy and as companies drill for more data, the risk to privacy are growing exponentially. After an investigation conducted in 2009 prompted by a complaint filed from the Canadian Policy and Public Interest Clinic, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner has concluded that Facebook s current practices of third party applications do not comply with Canadian Privacy Laws. The Commissioner s concerns include inadequate disclosure to users about what is being disclosed, lack of consent, and lack of control over personal information with third party developers. With these findings, the Commissioner has proposed several recommendations for Facebook to take on, however the company has refused to comply. In this paper I will argue that the Office of Privacy Commission requires stronger enforcement powers in ordering Facebook to change its third party application practices in order to effectively protect consumers personal information. We live in a regulatory state. The idea of the regulatory state is that a new institutional and policy style has emerged, in which governments role as regulator advances while its role as a direct employer or property owner may decline through privatization Consumers are currently protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act dealing with the personal information under the private ... A combine total of 19,240 data for the four regional sites were supposed to be sampled for the neural network training (including the leap days). However, substantial amount of missing daily mean data were observed for each site. Table 1 summarizes the breakup of data sample used for this project.. All the data were sorted into daily and monthly mean as inputs for training, testing and validation, with solar radiation as target output data. The 2016 meteorological data (January to September) were sample data used for training and predicting solar radiation. In data pre processing, the raw data is normalized to remove the outliers and inaccurate data in the hope of achieving good results. Several statistical procedures are used in this purpose as highlighted by [38, 39]. However, in order to fully appreciate the importance and reliability of ANN in actually predicting solar radiation without using normalized or pre processed data, it was necessary to use the primary data [48]. The dates that had no recordings, that is missing data, blanks, errors, and zeros were deleted with their corresponding rows of values [40]. The four regional sites have varying seasonal weather patterns, therefore it was important that to improve the reliability of the ANN training output, geographical information of the locations had to be included in the models. • 11. How Far Was the Provisional Government Responsible for Its... When the Provisional Government came into power Russia was in a state of major unrest. Russia had just overthrown the Tsarist regime, which had been in place for three hundred years and there were multiple groups who wanted to take power for themselves such as Lenin s Bolsheviks, they were fighting in an endless war and losing terribly, peasants where rebelling in the countryside and the people were angered over food shortages. On top of all these problems the Provisional Government was made up of members of the Duma who had no experience actually being in charge or having power over anything let alone the biggest and most culturally diverse country in the world. All these factors played a role in the downfall of the Provisional Government but overall it was the Provisional Government who played the biggest part in their own failure. When started the Provisional Government was an interim government which was to govern Russia until a new constitution was drawn up. But as soon as the Provisional Government was put in charge it faced the immediate problem of legitimacy. It was made up of members of the Duma and was dominated by members of the Octoberist and Kadet parties, who were minorities with only one radical member, Alexander Kerensky. This would give the Provisional Government the problem of not truly representing the people. If it was made up of minorities how can it represent the majority? The Provisional Government also faced the problem of the All Russia Soviet. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because Charlie suffers from selective mutism and has a shy personality, which makes her feel different from others around her, there are parts of the novel in which the Charlie Davis is left silently perceiving and even actively disconnected from the world around her. I can tell that she feels disconnected and silently observes because she says, I cut all my words out. My heart was too full of them (Page 4). Because of her feeling of separation from others, especially those who has their life all figured out, she starts feeling detached, memories from her disturbing experiences begin to appear, and she remembers all those who has abandoned her, she does self harm, once again. From heavy beats pounding in cars, to advertising jingles on radio (King), or as Ruth Jorgensen says, music was a social phenomenon and examined some of the ways in which groups form around particular beliefs and practices (Jorgensen). Musichas benefited the world in many ways all throughout history, from the expression of love and devotion towards god in a mass to the expressionism and individuality of jazz during the New Negro movement these are just a few of the many ways music has impacted our world greatly. Carlos R. Abril, and Brent M. Gault wrote in their journal research that some of the major benefits of the education of music consist of the transmission of cultural ideas and beliefs, the development of a sensitivity to and appreciation for the arts, and the opportunity to foster creativity, teamwork, and cooperation through participation in music (Abril and Gault). It is our responsibility to see how music has improved us as humans and it is our responsibility to raise our future generation with the understanding, love, and creativity that comes with the teaching of music. As Abril and Gault have said, one of the many benefits of musical education is the transmission of cultural ideas (Abril and Gault). THE ABUSERS Legere said this ban would only affect an extremely small number of T Mobile subscribers, and that the abuse was mostly coming from users who were taking advantage of the company s tethering feature. You can get a lot accomplished on a laptop over the course of a month and never even come near that amount of data... at least, not until you start streaming media content. These hackers are using the tethering feature to use up to two terabytes in some cases, which is well over the allotted amount. Typically, once a user reaches their limit then T Mobile will throttle their data, which means their download and upload speeds will see a pretty noticeable decrease. In order to circumvent this, the hackers are using apps that allow them to hide their usage from T Mobile, so the company never actually sees how much data is being used by the user. This is a case of infanticide that could not be stopped. A baby born without an anus, especially in the 1930s, generally has no hope of surviving. The parents left it in the outhouse so they would not have to hear it crying and suffering. Nonetheless, it is said that the baby lasted a long time, breathing as if it was trying to defecate for almost a week. While this infant was doomed from the second it was born, it fought to survive and lasted much longer than what the family and Brave Orchid expected. These left over tailings create human and ecological health problems that can be caused from exposure to the dust that are blown from these mine sites since metal toxicants can persist in tailing particles (arizona.edu, 2008). Another threat to the environment is acid mine drainage (also known as acid rock drainage). Acid mine drainage is the outflow of acidic water from a mining site. This acid is formed by the oxidation of iron sulfide. The oxidation occurs when iron sulfide is exposed to the air or to dissolved oxygen in the water, which causes the iron to rust and the sulfur reacts with the water to forum sulfuric acid (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and Higman, B., 2010). Figure 2 illustrates the sulfuric acid that is formed. Acid mine drainage is most common with hardrock mines where metal ore is bound together with sulfur. The increased acidity created from acid mine drainage has a series of negative effects, depending on the severity of change in the pH level. The acid mine drainage creates inhospitable environments to aquatic life in river systems and former mine sites, with the exception of extremophile bacteria (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and Higman, B., 2010). • 34. Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis Shady Kamel Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape was completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute monarchy and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on the verge of bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon after. Impacted by the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the strength of the will of the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of its citizens. Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter society and the social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor James Alexander Dun argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this instance, and is in fact used as an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to the situation. He believes that a revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the Haitian revolution is more complex than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn t be viewed as a thing, but rather, should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion as it challenges conventional thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with France and Haiti. This reasoning expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Euripides Apollonius Of Rhodes Argonautica In Apollonius of Rhodes Argonautica, written in the 3rd Century BC, the character Medea s complexity intrigues, enchants and horrifies us. Her passionate dedication to Jason and, consequently, the failure of their marriage, leads Medea to commit multiple horrific acts. She plans and commits the murders of numerous people, including her own two sons. However, it is not Medeas free will that leads her to commit these actions. Medea s decisions are not a consequence of her own cruelty, but of her desperation, since her free will has been stolen by men around her. Medea is an archetype of a woman betrayed, who sacrifices her own power for the goal of another in the name of love, of a marriage gone wrong. Who has not known of an intelligent woman who fell in love, gave up her opportunities to make the success of her husband possible, only to be thrown away for a younger and more beautiful woman? Apollonius immerses Medea in a story of revenge, war and bloodshed. At its core though, Medea s own story is about betrayal and being an outsider. Medea should not be identified as a savage, but as a symbol of what can occur when an unbearably distressed person is oppressed and outcast by their family, husband, and society. The involvement of the gods in the Argonautica shows us how the free will that was once Medea s is stolen by gods in order to shape the fates of characters. The Merchant acts in interesting ways in response to his background and people s view of him. Some of the standards of the society cause the Merchant to act in self interest and that factor propels many of his choices throughout The Canterbury Tales. The Merchant s portrayal in the story is affected by the role of merchants in society, his pompous attitude, and his unhappy marriage. The view of a merchant in the Middle Ages sculpted how the Merchant was viewed in Canterbury Tales. As Britain was evolving out of a feudal state during the Middle ages, a middle class emerged. With this, economic activity increased and [t]he merchant himself changed in his attitude towards his work, in his duties and abilities, and in his educational background (Decameron Web). It is not known how life came to be on the earth, but it is proven that it has evolved over time, and life is unified by a common ancestor. In the 1920s, a hypothesis was created by scientists Alexander Oparin and J.B.S. Haldane, that predicted that the first life forms were formed in an acidic primordial sea. Oparin believed that a string of of chemical reactions within an aquatic environment had led to the formation of coacervates. Coacervates are aggregates of organic polymers that have life like characteristics, but are not alive. When Oparin created coacervates, he used a couple different solutions of macromolecules to form these aggregates, and he discovered that the coacervates had a selectively permeable membrane. It is thought that coacervates may have been one of the first pieces in the origin of life on Earth. This lab uses a carbohydrate, gum arabic, and a protein, gelatin to create coacervates. This decline in savings roughly coincided with a secular increase in the dissemination and use of credit cards, raising at least the possibility that the proliferation of credit cards contributed to the downward trend. While it is true that the total level of credit card debt is too small to account for much of the decrease in the savings rate (Parker 1999), it is possible that credit cards could contribute to low savings if accumulated credit card debt is being transferred to other forms of debt, such as borrowing against real estate. Beyond the rationale for regulation based on macroeconomic goals, there might also be a rationale for the regulation of credit cards based on individual welfare. If credit card use leads to supra optimal spending and ultimately to personal financial hardship, their regulation could be potentially justified on much the same basis as the regulation of certain types of drugs, which are outlawed because they are viewed as too tempting and dangerous. There is, in fact, some evidence of a correlation between debt and financial distress. For example, Brown et al. Mediterranean forests are characterized by multi functionality and associated diversity in both wood and non wood forest products (NWFP). • 53. Reflection On Organizational Change I first off would like to start by saying these past 8 weeks have been a great experience! I have been able to learn and gain new skills and tools that will not only help me in the rest of my schooling, but will be very beneficial when it comes to my career. I have really enjoyed getting to see all different experiences out there and a variety of perspectives on what one has done or not when in that situation. It certainly has opened my eyes up to the world and I feel I am more aware and ready for what might come my way now. Although after reading the Let s Drive a Stake In the Heart of the Industrial Age! you never really know what s going to happen next. I plan to use all the OB tools that I have been able to learn about in this term to assist the transformational process in organizational models. Using these tools will helpthis process go more smoothly and make it easier not only for the company but for the employees and customers. The transformational process in any company is hard and can be very challenging during a time like this. I believe that changeis challenging just from my experiences and that it can take more time than one thinks or wants it to. I personally am not a fan of change, so when there is a change going on in my personal or professional life I hope it is quick and easy (which it is rarely ever). I have learned though change is good. As much as I may hate it, it is necessary and it cannot be avoided. I learned these past weeks and have seen examples where some individuals in a company will resist change, even leaders, and that is where I find the OB tools to help and make the change as easy as possible for everyone in the company. I know this is something I will do to assist the transformational process in organizational models in my future company. I will use the strategies we have learned in this course to help and be more effective. One concept in this course I have learned and it has stuck with me is focusing on employees. Without good relationships with employees and making sure they are happy and acknowledged the work within the company will not get done effectively and efficiently. As a manager, I will make sure that all employees are managed, able to express their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the peak of the Renaissance era of 1600 Rome, there was a move towards a style that was more dramatic and celebrated the church and the elite. This style melodramatically reaffirmed the emotional depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art, 1933:284). Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion and movement in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the ostentatious interiors homes of the elite and the church was highly decorated. Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to create depth and realism. The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect. Rococo The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed to that of Baroque. Though there are similarities between the two stylistic periods, Rococo design is more ornate and motifs usually resemble shells and stones and the intricate designs are often gilded with gold and other precious metals. The colour palette is muted and emphasis is placed on the design rather than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
