Myths About Nudism
Myths about Nudism
Nudism also knew as naturism is cultural as well as political movement practicing defending and
advocating personal and social nudity. It mostly takes place on private property. It can also be used to
refer to a personal, social or family based lifestyle. Nudism is the actual act of being naked while
naturism is the lifestyle that at times embraces the respect of other people, self respect, nature, the
environment, a healthy eating, healthy living through exercise and nudity. Because of the different
stereotypes, people have towards the culture of nudism, over time, they have developed false
assumptions and myths about nudism perpetuated by the media which are listed and explained below.
Nudists are always naked
So many factors contradict the claim of nudists going naked all the time such as the weather, the
location one is in, for instance, one cannot go for shopping in groceries or supermarkets while naked. I

Nudism cannot be about sex, but it is insincere to say it is asexual. Human beings, a large percentage
of them, are sexual beings and that includes nudists, it is not as if when someone becomes a nudist,
their sexuality is stripped off them. Just like any other normal human beings, nudists experience
sexual attraction and have sex. They express affection in public regardless of them being naked or
with clothes. There may be a strong association between nudity and sex in today s culture, but that is
not the case. In nudist settings, people will behave sexually as people on a textile beach setting; they
will all act in the same manner, talk about stuff, do skinny dipping, flirt, sunbathe and laugh about
stuff. It does not mean that when people are all naked, they cannot control themselves because they
can do that whether they are naked or

Analysis of Daystar by Rita Dove Essay
While reading the poem Daystar, written by Rita Dove, its readers most likely do not ask thought
provoking questions like Why did Dove write this? or What is the true meaning behind this poem? but
the poem has deeper meaning than what its outside layer portrays. Dove, an African American woman
born in 1952, has not only viewed the racism of the United States society, but she has also seen how
gender can or cannot play a role in the advancement of a person s life (Rita Dove: The Poetry
Foundation). The poem Daystar not only takes an outside perspective on the everyday life of a
woman, but it closely relates to Dove s family history. Dove uses the experiences of her life as a
woman, and the knowledge gained from living in countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Daystar comes from a book of poems written by Dove entitled Thomas and Beulah, which tells both
the real and unreal stories of Dove s maternal grandparents (Stein 64). Unlike Dove, who grew up
during a time of women s rights, her grandmother most likely did not have an admired career as a
housewife. In discussing Thomas and Beulah, Stein explains, It is almost painful to witness Thomas
and Beulah, two people clearly devoted to each other, continually misinterpret each other s behavior
(70). Although Daystar is not necessarily written from an autobiographical perspective, Dove is using
the research of her family and her own experiences to welcome us into the lives of the distressed
Beulah. Beyond the already mentioned first line about how Beulah wanted a little room for thinking
(1), there are many other evidences in the poem that prove this woman desires more than what she
currently has. Even today, women are viewed as the main caretakers of their children and the ones
who are expected to respond to the domestic duties at home, and this is what Beulah exemplifies. In
the next lines of Daystar, obligations of motherhood are further explained as Dove writes, but she saw
diapers steaming on the line, /a doll slumped behind the door (2 3). Both the diapers and the doll
imply that it is Beulah s job to take care of the laundry and clean up the mess that her children have
left behind. Furthermore, the

How Is Love Presented In Plato s Symposium
The view of love presented in Plato s Symposium is not a very positive one to a modern reader;
although some of its eulogies can appeal to various emotions or make sense logically, they fail to
present love in a way that is both humane and sends a positive message. While Aristophanes eulogy
depicts humans as inherently flawed and lacking independence, Socrates logic based definition takes
away the emotion and humanity from love and leaves readers with an unappealing image of love that
leaves little to no room for mystery, curiosity, and pure emotion. One of the most famous eulogies
delivered in the Symposium is delivered by Aristophanes in the form of a myth; he states that long
ago, people lived in conjoined pairs with two faces, four arms, ... Show more content on

While it may be logical for Socrates to reject Alcibiades advances on grounds of exchanging bronze
for gold (219A), it is very unappealing and inhumane to see a potential relationship forsaken simply
because it is not a fair transaction . Alcibiades appears to be showing a real emotional connection to
Socrates, but he is simply not given a chance due to Socrates view on what love should be. This is
especially unappealing because oftentimes, we do not even try to comprehend the logic or reasoning
as to why we love someone or something; we simply acknowledge that there is an emotional
connection that sometimes cannot be fully explained based on transactional value. Socrates definition
also completely eliminates any mystery or curiosity about love in the eyes of the reader; such a logical
and transactional analysis presents love as a formula that can be easily determined and explained.
However, that is simply not the reality. Love has always been an incredibly tantalizing subject for one
reason it is mysterious. People can seem to fall in love with each other in the blink of an eye, or a
loving relationship could take years of friendship to finally develop. Essentially, it is extremely
difficult to pinpoint exactly why we love someone or something,

State-of-the-art E-mail Encryptions
CHAPTER 2 : LITERATURE REVIEW 2.0 INTRODUCTION Today with drastic changes in
communication technologies based on computer and internet, people more often communicate via
emails. However, traditional email protocol is insecure because the message that has been transmitted
is in plain text. Someone can intercepts copy or even alter the emails. Individual privacies such as
personal/commercial secrets, bank transaction and even the countries intelligence information that
send through email are more vulnerable to be hacked. Therefore, the security of emails has raised the
attention of community. The primary explanations behind the Email communication not utilizing
encryption is that the current Email encryption results require monotonous operations and hard key
administrations. In this way, research about on basic, very secured also effective Email content

Taking Circe advice Odysseus was able to get pass Scylla and Charybdis, but the fatality was that he
lost six of his men because Scylla ate them alive. The revelation or the abyss of the hero s journey can
be described in the Odyssey as Odysseus going to the underworld known as Hades. Odysseus went
there because Circe instructed him to do so. It was there Tiresias, which is a blind prophet tells
Odysseus that he will return home. He also tells him he will reunite with his wife and take command
of his kingdom from suitors. He then instructs Odysseus that he need to take a trip to a faraway land to
appease the god Poseidon. After revealing this prophecy he warns Odysseus not to touch the flocks of
the sun when he arrives in Thrinacia. If he does he will encounter much more hardship and suffering
and he will also lose more members of his crew Atonement which is a major part of the hero s journey
can best be described when Odysseus kills the suitors and the unfaithful servants. He then takes back
control of his palace. Atonement can also be viewed as Odysseus acknowledging those who have been
his faithful friends throughout his absence. This can be seen as him becoming master of both worlds.
The last part of the hero s journey is the return. In the Odyssey the return is when Odysseus gets to
reveal who he really is to his wife and father. Penelope did not want to believe the man before her was
really Odysseus.

University Of Hawai ᅠᆰ I At Hilo
University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is in the attempt of building a Thirty Meter telescope on Mauna Kea. To
Hawaiians Mauna Kea holds a high value of historical and sacred context and should not be disturbed.
Although, the construction of the thirty meter telescope (TMT) will result in being the most powerful
telescope in the world, bringing the worlds best researchers to Hawaiʻi. The construction of TMT will
also bring an estimated total of 10,000 job opportunities to Hawaiʻi (Deneen). The TMT poses a
significant opportunity for astronomy on a worldwide platform; however, the cultural significance of
Mauna Kea, the environmental impact of such a project (as TMT) and the lack of respect and
management shown by the State of Hawaiʻi proved that Mauna Kea is not the appropriate site for this
telescope.
In sacred records of the Hawaiian people it is said that the people are all decedents of Wākea Sky
Father and Papahānaumoku Goddess of Hawaiʻi who gave birth to the islands. It is said that the
intercourse between Wākea and Papahānaumoku produced the mountain child we know today as
Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is both female and male Maunakea s physical features of rock, soil, water and
ice are female attributes; his elevation establishes his maleness, as it brings him closer to his father,
Wākea. The equability of the male female distribution establishes Mauna Kea as sacred and creates
piko kapu, or sacred center, of the island (The Edith Kanakaʻole Foundation).

Themes In The Chrysanthemums
In John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums , the setting plays a significant role in the mood and themes
of the short story. Set in the 1930s a period of time also known as the Great Depression in Salinas
Valley, California, the tale revolves around the utter loneliness experienced by the protagonist, Elisa
Allen, who is closed off from the rest of the world not only by the land in which she lives, but also by
the stifling and sexist social expectations for women in her time. The story itself begins with a
description of the high gray flannel fog that that surrounds the valley on every side... like a lid , with
the only light being the pale, cold sunshine on the other side of the river. In the middle of this desolate
terrain, Mrs. Allen is an anomaly a sharp, eager woman or whose energy even the chrysanthemum
stems [seem] too small and easy . The oppressive fog, which makes the great valley [into] a closed pot
, reminds the reader of how trapped Elisa is; thus, the landscape combines with the imposed gender
norms and patriarchal views of the twentieth century to create a melancholy, claustrophobic tone that
echoes through the story. From the very beginning, Steinbeck emphasizes the smothering essence of
Elisa s life, not only due to the expectations and limitations placed on her because of her gender, but
also as a parallel to the restrictive nature of the setting.
Henry Allen is a complex character whose role in The Chrysanthemums is easily overlooked in
comparison to that of his wife Elisa, or the tinker; in the scenes that the reader witnesses, there is
always an unspoken boundary between Henry and his wife, a lack of intimacy that is rare for most
marriages. There are many instances where Henry tries to provide a more substantial, fulfilling
opportunity for his wife; he offers to allow her to work out in the orchard and raise some apples as
large as her chrysanthemums, in which he takes an interest only to say that they are big . Clearly, he
realizes that Elisa is capable of much more work than she does, and he also does understand her joy
and gift with [growing] things on a superficial level; however, he is as oppressive as the society that
forces the limitations on his wife, because

Teaching And School Should Not Be A Teacher
When you think about teaching and the amount of work and school one must put into becoming a
teacher, how can you argue that it is not a profession? All teachers must get a masters and pass
rigorous tests to get their licensure as well as have the perfect personality to work with the children of
their choice. Although not all teachers are held by the same regard as other professionals, they do have
some if not all the same characteristics required to be a professional. To teach in a public school one
must be certified and carrying a degree in the subject they are to teach. Considering this, teachers have
a monopoly of services in public schools. However, most private schools do not require the same state
licensure which causes the monopoly to weaken. In the year 2008 1.4 percent of teachers were on
waivers (Parkay 62) due to a teacher shortage. An increase of out of field teaching is also weakening
the monopoly of services along with people teaching how to classes that they are not certified to teach.
Thus, teaching is the only profession that allows noncertified individuals to practice the profession
(Parkay 62). Teachers have a decent amount of autonomy, considering other professionals who must
also answer to a higher authority. The door to a classroom closes off the teacher from the rest of the
building. In the classroom the teacher has rein over how he teaches as long as he covers the state
regulated content. Veteran teachers for example are not frequently observed

The Significance of Dred Scott
History 201
Dr. Eugenie Blang

The Significance of Dred Scott
Many times during our class discussions and lectures we tried to examine the stages leading up to the
succession and Civil War in America. During the critical time period of the middle 19th century, the
Dred Scott v. Sanford decision of the Supreme Court was one of those major treads on the pathway to
secession. The man Dred Scott was taken to Missouri with Peter Blow as a slave from Virginia and
sold. His new master from Missouri then moved to the free state of Illinois for a while, but later
moved back to Missouri. Following his master s passing, Scott asserted that since he had resided in a
free state, he was inevitably a free citizen.

The first question was partially addressed by Article IV, Section 2 of the Constitution and by the
Fugitive Slave Acts of 1793 and 1850; however the second question had not as yet been addressed.
During the 1830s and 1840s a slave by the name of Dred Scott accompanied his master, a surgeon in
the U.S. Army, on numerous trips to military posts around the country, including the free states of
Illinois and the territory of Wisconsin.
In 1846 Scott sued his master for his freedom, asserting that his sojourns in free jurisdictions made
him free. After numerous delays, trials, and retrials, the case reached the Supreme Court in 1856. The
court responded with nine separate opinions, and Chief Justice Roger Brook Taney delivered the
deciding opinion. The ruling was both complex and controversial: the Missouri Compromise of 1820
was ruled unconstitutional on the grounds that Congress did not have authority to limit the expansion
of slavery; slavery was found to be legal in the territories until the citizens voted for or against it; and
Africans and their descendants were found to be ineligible for citizenship in the United States as the
framers of the Constitution had not viewed Africans as citizens. Since African Americans were not
viewed by the court as citizens, they could not file suit. Despite the finality of the court s

WEEK 4 WRITING ASSIGNMENT
SAMSUNG SMART PHONE
MRKT 310 JAMIE RICE 11/19/2017
Part 1 Consumer Behavior: How People Make Buying Decisions
1. Two of the most important environmental factors I think are relevant to the customers of the
Samsung phone are price and social (Principles of Marketing, 2015). Price is a major factor for
potential consumers. Many people will not purchase a Samsung phone if the price is out of their
budget. There are various models at various pricing available, however, there are also other companies
that offer a phone with just as many features, for a lower price (ex. HTC). Many potential consumers
will not purchase a phone the same day their research begins. There is a lot of comparing and
evaluation that takes place. The price is controlled by the marketer, however the reason buyers make
their decision is not controlled by the marketer (Principles of Marketing, 2015). The social aspect is
also an important factor. Many people use their cell phone as a primary source of communication.
Their choice to purchase the Samsung phone could majorly rely on whether or not many of their
friends have that make/model. There are also many additional features phones have if two or more
people have the same phone (video chatting, similar apps that allow texting to be quicker and more
efficient). If communicating with friends/family is a priority, this could mean a make or break for
purchasing the Samsung phone.

Lewis Carroll s Wonderland
Unbeknown to many, Alice in Wonderland borrows a lot from the reality of its author. As a matter of
fact, Alice in Wonderland has as much to do with its author as it has to do with creativity. Lewis
Carroll s beliefs are written all over the story as one navigates through the alternate reality he presents
in the novel. Before exploring the evidence of Lewis Carroll s spiritual beliefs in Alice, it is important
to understand what actually constitutes Lewis Carroll s beliefs. Notably, other than being an author,
Lewis was an Anglican clergyman, a mathematician and a talented formal logician. Other than
studying at Christ Church Oxford, he went ahead to lecture at the same institution (Auerbach, 1973).
Indeed, this brief history presents an individual whose life is deeply founded in religion.
Conventionally, religion is founded on three fundamental principles, that is, the existence of an
alternate reality, belief in supernatural force, and of course, the conquest of good over evil. These form
the foundations of religion and are indeed, the very tenets upon which Alice in Wonderland is
founded. As a matter of fact, in his book The Gospel in Disney, Longfellow (1993) asserts that
Christian lessons are learned from Alice in Wonderland.
In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis presents and entirely alternate reality. Alice finds herself in a world
other than the one in which she lives. At the very start of the story, Alice finds herself in distress. From
this set up, Lewis akin to his

How Did The Great Divergence Occur In The 19th Century
The Great Divergence signifies a period in history where Europe, particularly north western Europe,
developed economically at a much faster rate than the most prosperous parts of Asia, namely India and
China. However, the timing of this period is unclear, with dispute amongst historians as to whether it
occurred in the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution in the nineteenth century, or as being well under
way in the seventeenth century (Gupta and Ma, 2010, p. 285). Chinese failure and European success
arguably both contributed to the Great Divergence, but it is key to determine its timing in order to
understand which ultimately led to the phenomenon. This essay will outline both arguments and
attempt to show that the Great Divergence occurred by the seventeenth century.

similar in terms of trade, literatures and centralisation (Goldstone, 2002, p. 338). In fact, India and

Coming Of Age Rituals In Bronze Age
Coming of Age Rituals from the Bronze Age to the Present Greek culture was forged in the crucible of
the Bronze Age civilization which has heavily influenced millennia of cultures to follow (Pomeroy,
Sarah B, and Rogers D. Spotswood Collection xiii). The height of the Bronze Age is defined by an
exquisite amount of creative and youthful energy, beginning around the year of 1600 BC. Prominent
rituals from these cultures and era are apparent through archeological findings and are even visible
today via popular traditions and spiritual practices demonstrated in our contemporary society. A
specific category of rituals, coming of age rituals, which are defined as the attainment of prominence,
respectability, recognition, or maturity , were fundamental in the Bronze Age and were so pivotal to
their society that they continue to existing today in modern society through different forms and
structures (Merriam Webster). Contemporary Western ceremonies for transitional periods are
influenced by Spartan and Mycenaean Bronze Age coming of age rituals. The influential Spartan and
Mycenaean Bronze Age civilizations were technologically advanced for their time, however, they still
employed segregated rituals for the two different sexes. Males and females spent a significant portion
of their lives separate from each other until they reached the age of marriage. The rituals, which were

APA Style Of Writing
Style is a reflection of one s inner self. It allows our feelings, thoughts and perceptions to speak for
each of us. But, when it comes to conveying information a standardized style is needed. There are
different standardized styles that are in use but during this essay we will look at the style known as
APA created in 1929 and published by the American Psychological Association (Bethel, 2014).

History and development of WTO
http://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/inbrief_e/inbr01_e.htm
The World Trade Organization (WTO) was founded in 1995 as a result of the Uruguay Round. The
WTO is the successor to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). So while it is still
young, the multilateral trading system that was originally set up under GATT is well over 50 years old.
The system was developed through a series of trade negotiations, or rounds, held under GATT. The
goal of WTO is to improve the welfare of the peoples of the member countries . The WTO has a
number of principles, which are the foundation of the multilateral trading system.
First of all, there are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because opening markets can be beneficial but also requires adjustment, The WTO agreements allow
changes to be introduced gradually by its member countries, through progressive liberalization . Plus,
developing countries are usually given longer to fulfill their obligations.
The fourth principle is Predictability: through binding and transparency. This encourages investment,
creation of job and fair competition (more choice and lower price). This can be achieved through
binding arrangement and transparency; promising not to raise a trade barrier; government disclosing
their policies and practices publicly within the country or notifying the WTO; regular surveillance of
national trade policies.
Another principle is Promoting Fair Competition. The WTO is a system of rules dedicated to open,
fair and undistorted competition. It discourages unfair practices such as export subsidies and dumping
products at below cost to gain market share. The rules on non discrimination MFN and national
treatment and most of other WTO regulations are designed to secure fair conditions of trade. Many of
the other WTO agreements aim to support fair competition: in agriculture, intellectual property,
services.
Last principle of the WTO is Encouraging development and economic reform.
The WTO system contributes to development as the WTO is paying attentions to developing
countries. More than

What Is Aladdin Ascribed Status
Aladdin is known as a street rat because of how he appears , not because of what he has done. The
character Aladdin has an ascribed status because he was born into poverty . Because of this he is
treated very poorly.Due to his status people treat him the way they do because of the status symbols
they do see for example his clothes and the way he speaks. Due to these things he is always targeted
and shunned. Another scene in the movie shows a prince on his way to meet Princess Jasmine to take
her hand in marriage. On the way, he almost runs over two small children that are playing with his
horse. Instead of being concerned for nearly killing the children, the prince takes out his whip to
punish them for being in his path. Aladdin sees what

Sucrose Concentration Lab Report
The hypothesis I previously had was that if the sucrose concentration increases, then the rate of water
movement increases. I have chosen to accept this hypothesis because my data proves it to be true.
Based on my data, as the sucrose concentration is lower, the average change in mass is less than when
the sucrose concentration is higher. This is because more water has to travel in or out of the dialysis
bag in order to help dilute the high concentration of the solution in the beaker down to even it out with
the concentration inside of the dialysis bag. Also, I noticed that having the water in the beaker and the
sucrose molarity inside a dialysis bag always results in the water being hypotonic to the dialysis bag.
When looking at the situation where we were given the unkown sucrose molarity solution within the
beaker and the known sucrose molarity solutions in the dialysis bags the results turned out to be
hypertonic, isotonic and hypotonic on different parts of the graph. ... Show more content on

In addition, the sucrose solution with the unknown molarity is isotonic to the dialysis bag when the
line crosses the x axis. This is because of the fact that there is no change in mass here which means the
solutions must be of an equivilent concentration. Also, when it comes to the solution in the dialysis
bag being of a higher concentration than that of the unknown sucrose molarity concentration within
the beaker, the dialysis bag gained mass. This is because the unknown solution is hypotonic to the
dialysis bag, causing water to enter the bag. There were many possible sources of error for this lab.
First of all, someone may not have dried the outside dialysis bags properly before weighing them on

Swot Analysis Of Westjet Airlines
Situation Analysis
Introduction
WestJet Airlines is a Canadian airline that differentiates itself with their low cost flights and
exceptional customer service. The company s philosophy is just because you pay less for a flight,
doesn t mean you should get less. WestJet has been growing rapidly since 1996, however, they believe
in growing responsibly by being cautious of their environmental and community impact ( About us ,
n.d.). As WestJet has a strong presence locally, our analysis will mainly focus on WestJet s domestic
segment.

The large difference of ASMs is largely attributed to the fact that Air Canada focuses on both domestic
and international flights while WestJet mainly focuses on domestic flights. This means while Air
Canada may fly more kilometers than WestJet, the two companies are not so far off from each other
when it comes to gaining customers (Statistics Canada, 2016). WestJet s differentiating point is their
price competitive nature. As a low cost carrier the company values offering guests the same
experience they may receive at higher priced airlines. Air Canada has, however, also began operating a
low cost segment back in 2013 called Air Canada Rouge. WestJet is now looking to launch an ultra
low cost segment, WestJet Swoop in June 2018, targeting guests who are mainly concerned about
getting from one location to another and less concerned about flexibility and convenience (Dormer,
2017).
Customers WestJet s low cost pricing advantage mainly attracts price sensitive consumers within the
middle to upper middle class. These are individuals who can t afford the more luxurious flights and/or
those who are just looking for a cheap but comfortable ride to their next destination. Travelers can
conveniently purchase airfare through WestJet s website directly, through global travel websites (i.e.
Expedia, Trivago), or through travel agencies. Within the airline industry, the main concern of
consumers is the price as many airlines already offer similar features

Burnout Literature Review
In the article The Calm Before the Storm? Burnout and Compassion Fatigue Among
Undergraduate Nursing Students by Barret Michalec, Cynthia Dienfenbeck and Margaret
Mahoney, the researchers conducted a study to understand the experiences of undergraduate nurses
and their reasons for burn out (2013). The study took place at The University of Deleware
School of Nursing. The study had 436 BSN students which included 123 freshmen, 98 sophomores,
97 juniors, and 118 seniors. The racial breakdown of the subjects were 85% white,
5% were black, 3% were Latina. The study was mostly made up of females at 93%. The
Professional Quality of Life scale was used for the students to rate their compassion fatigue ,
PTSD and burnout levels. It was concluded that the students reported average levels of burnout and
compassion fatigue. Although there was not a significant result in their burnout it suggests the
question to further research why nurses, later on, report higher levels of PTSD and burnout (Michalec,

Review Of Anna Deavere Smith s Twilight Essay
In May of 1992, actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith was commissioned to write a one woman
performance piece about the experiences, feelings, and tensions that contributed to and were
exacerbated by the 1992 Los Angeles riots.[1] For her work, Smith interviewed over 200 residents of
Los Angeles during the time of the riot. Her script consists entirely of the actual words of members of
the Los Angeles community as they reflect on their experiences surrounding the Los Angeles riots. As
Smith described in the introduction to her play, Twilight, which she later published as a book, I am
first looking for the humanness inside the problems, or the crises. [2] She strived to maintain a wide
variety of perspectives, interviewing people from all walks of life: white, black, Korean, Latino, poor,
rich, police officers and gang members alike. Anna Deavere Smith s play was widely received as a
brilliant work of theater. One New York Times reviewer, David Richards, praised her performance
saying, She does people s souls. [3] Anna Deavere Smith s play Twilight helps illuminate the thoughts
and feelings of many diverse perspectives behind the racial tensions, the perceived police brutality,
and the lack of leadership for greatly needed urban renewal. Combined with historical research,
Twilight provides a meaningful examination of the underlying causes of the Los Angeles riots. A
longer historical view also reveals the larger class tensions and the massive fluctuation of ethnic

Onychomycosis Essay
Onychomycosis
Onychomycosis, also known as ringworm of the nail, is a fungal infection that primarily influences
either the fingernails or the toenails (though toenails are more susceptible). Such an affliction may
correlate on any part of the nail, visible or not, including the nail bed, nail plate, and nail matrix,
which is located behind the cuticle, and beneath the skin. Onychomycosis is far from life threatening,
being among the most common nail diseases that afflict adults. Nevertheless, it s a fungal infection,
and is therefore highly contagious. In her study of onychomycosis, dermatologist Boni Elewski

The risk factors for onychomycosis include one s family history, old age, poor health or lack of
hygiene, living in a warm climate, involvement in fitness activities that cause the body to sweat,
immunosuppression (often from HIV or certain drugs), bathing in communal showers (such as at a
gym), and wearing closed shoes that let in any air circulation. Failure to take care of personal hygiene
and washing your body regularly combined with old age and a low immune system, make a person
susceptible to this fungal infection. You literally become a breeding ground for organisms and fungus.
Onychomycosis is caused by three main classes of organisms. They are dermatophytes (fungi that
infect hair, skin, nails, and feed on the tissue of nails), yeasts, and nondermatophyte molds. All three
classes cause the same symptoms, so the appearance of the infection does not tell which class is
responsible for the infection. Dermatophytes are, by far, the most common causes of onychomycosis
worldwide. Yeasts cause 8% of cases, and nondermatophyte molds cause 2% of onychomycosis cases
(Ratz). Treatment of onychomycosis is challenging because the infection is embedded within the nail
and is difficult to reach. As a result, full removal of symptoms is very slow and may take a year or

Thomas Malthus—Section Summary
Thomas Malthus Section Summary Malthus work, Essay on the Principle of Population, is often cited,
first by Darwin himself, to have influenced Darwin s conception of the theory of natural selection. His
work, though unpopular, and often proven to be off the mark, did in fact bring to the forefront many
socio economic issues that are still being debated today: population control, food production and
concerns over uncontrollable diseases arising from the effects of over population. In this passage it is
stated that Malthus was proven wrong: ...Malthus dire predictions have proven to be wrong...

Malthus determined that during this particular scarcity of bread, that though the shortage was less than
comparable shortages in other European countries, the cost of bread was 3 times as high as normal
when, by comparison, the other countries with worse shortages of bread and bread ingredients, only
demonstrated a doubling of prices. Malthus was obviously very aware of the effect pricing could have
on food supplies and production. Another criticism of Malthus that is only alluded to in the text is his
tendency to heap an undue amount of blame on the lower classes for their role in population growth:
An 1881 report concluded that 80 percent of famine victims were drawn from the poorest 20 percent
of the population...Thus, if the government spent more of its revenue on famine relief, an even larger
proportion of the population would become penurious...although the administration was divided about
the value of famine relief, these Malthusian views undoubtedly affected its volume and timing

intentionally the fault of the poor and lowest social classes, but that it was their inability

How Did Bill Gates And Steve Jobs Change The World
Essay 4 Research Paper: How Did Bill Gates and Steve Jobs Change the World?
Without innovators, without people daring to take risks and pushing the boundaries, without people
trying to move/change the world, society does not progress. Innovators are people that have this crazy
idea in their head and go out into this world to make their idea come to life. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs

was Microsoft. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs changed the world.
After about three years in college, Gates decided to make a computer software program company with

form his company. Even though both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did not graduate from college their
personalities and emotions lead themselves towards computers, and its components took them far.

record, number of previous marriages, and number of children. (US Legal) The International Marriage
Broker Regulation Act (IMBRA) provides a strict set of rules for the men who are wanting to marry
women from other countries, such as Russia, when using the services of an international marriage
broker. Under these regulations, men that are interested in marrying women from other countries who

There may be a strong association between nudity and sex in today s culture, but that is not the case. In nudist settings, people will behave sexually as people on a textile beach setting; they will all act in the same manner, talk about stuff, do skinny dipping, flirt, sunbathe and laugh about stuff. Analysis of Daystar by Rita Dove Essay While reading the poem Daystar, written by Rita Dove, its readers most likely do not ask thought provoking questions like Why did Dove write this? or What is the true meaning behind this poem? but the poem has deeper meaning than what its outside layer portrays. Dove, an African American woman born in 1952, has not only viewed the racism of the United States society, but she has also seen how gender can or cannot play a role in the advancement of a person s life (Rita Dove: The Poetry Foundation). The poem Daystar not only takes an outside perspective on the everyday life of a woman, but it closely relates to Dove s family history. Daystar comes from a book of poems written by Dove entitled Thomas and Beulah, which tells both the real and unreal stories of Dove s maternal grandparents (Stein 64). Unlike Dove, who grew up during a time of women s rights, her grandmother most likely did not have an admired career as a housewife. In discussing Thomas and Beulah, Stein explains, It is almost painful to witness Thomas and Beulah, two people clearly devoted to each other, continually misinterpret each other s behavior (70). Although Daystar is not necessarily written from an autobiographical perspective, Dove is using the research of her family and her own experiences to welcome us into the lives of the distressed Beulah. Beyond the already mentioned first line about how Beulah wanted a little room for thinking (1), there are many other evidences in the poem that prove this woman desires more than what she currently has. Even today, women are viewed as the main caretakers of their children and the ones who are expected to respond to the domestic duties at home, and this is what Beulah exemplifies. In the next lines of Daystar, obligations of motherhood are further explained as Dove writes, but she saw diapers steaming on the line, /a doll slumped behind the door (2 3). Both the diapers and the doll imply that it is Beulah s job to take care of the laundry and clean up the mess that her children have left behind. Furthermore, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Is Love Presented In Plato s Symposium The view of love presented in Plato s Symposium is not a very positive one to a modern reader; although some of its eulogies can appeal to various emotions or make sense logically, they fail to present love in a way that is both humane and sends a positive message. While Aristophanes eulogy depicts humans as inherently flawed and lacking independence, Socrates logic based definition takes away the emotion and humanity from love and leaves readers with an unappealing image of love that leaves little to no room for mystery, curiosity, and pure emotion. One of the most famous eulogies delivered in the Symposium is delivered by Aristophanes in the form of a myth; he states that long ago, people lived in conjoined pairs with two faces, four arms, ... While it may be logical for Socrates to reject Alcibiades advances on grounds of exchanging bronze for gold (219A), it is very unappealing and inhumane to see a potential relationship forsaken simply because it is not a fair transaction . Alcibiades appears to be showing a real emotional connection to Socrates, but he is simply not given a chance due to Socrates view on what love should be. This is especially unappealing because oftentimes, we do not even try to comprehend the logic or reasoning as to why we love someone or something; we simply acknowledge that there is an emotional connection that sometimes cannot be fully explained based on transactional value. Socrates definition also completely eliminates any mystery or curiosity about love in the eyes of the reader; such a logical and transactional analysis presents love as a formula that can be easily determined and explained. However, that is simply not the reality. Love has always been an incredibly tantalizing subject for one reason it is mysterious. People can seem to fall in love with each other in the blink of an eye, or a loving relationship could take years of friendship to finally develop. • 13. Themes In The Chrysanthemums In John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums , the setting plays a significant role in the mood and themes of the short story. Set in the 1930s a period of time also known as the Great Depression in Salinas Valley, California, the tale revolves around the utter loneliness experienced by the protagonist, Elisa Allen, who is closed off from the rest of the world not only by the land in which she lives, but also by the stifling and sexist social expectations for women in her time. The story itself begins with a description of the high gray flannel fog that that surrounds the valley on every side... like a lid , with the only light being the pale, cold sunshine on the other side of the river. In the middle of this desolate terrain, Mrs. Allen is an anomaly a sharp, eager woman or whose energy even the chrysanthemum stems [seem] too small and easy . The oppressive fog, which makes the great valley [into] a closed pot , reminds the reader of how trapped Elisa is; thus, the landscape combines with the imposed gender norms and patriarchal views of the twentieth century to create a melancholy, claustrophobic tone that echoes through the story. From the very beginning, Steinbeck emphasizes the smothering essence of Elisa s life, not only due to the expectations and limitations placed on her because of her gender, but also as a parallel to the restrictive nature of the setting. Henry Allen is a complex character whose role in The Chrysanthemums is easily overlooked in comparison to that of his wife Elisa, or the tinker; in the scenes that the reader witnesses, there is always an unspoken boundary between Henry and his wife, a lack of intimacy that is rare for most marriages. There are many instances where Henry tries to provide a more substantial, fulfilling opportunity for his wife; he offers to allow her to work out in the orchard and raise some apples as large as her chrysanthemums, in which he takes an interest only to say that they are big . Clearly, he realizes that Elisa is capable of much more work than she does, and he also does understand her joy and gift with [growing] things on a superficial level; however, he is as oppressive as the society that forces the limitations on his wife, because ... • 14. Teaching And School Should Not Be A Teacher When you think about teaching and the amount of work and school one must put into becoming a teacher, how can you argue that it is not a profession? All teachers must get a masters and pass rigorous tests to get their licensure as well as have the perfect personality to work with the children of their choice. Although not all teachers are held by the same regard as other professionals, they do have some if not all the same characteristics required to be a professional. To teach in a public school one must be certified and carrying a degree in the subject they are to teach. Considering this, teachers have a monopoly of services in public schools. However, most private schools do not require the same state licensure which causes the monopoly to weaken. In the year 2008 1.4 percent of teachers were on waivers (Parkay 62) due to a teacher shortage. An increase of out of field teaching is also weakening the monopoly of services along with people teaching how to classes that they are not certified to teach. Thus, teaching is the only profession that allows noncertified individuals to practice the profession (Parkay 62). Teachers have a decent amount of autonomy, considering other professionals who must also answer to a higher authority. The door to a classroom closes off the teacher from the rest of the building. In the classroom the teacher has rein over how he teaches as long as he covers the state regulated content. Veteran teachers for example are not frequently observed ... During the critical time period of the middle 19th century, the Dred Scott v. Sanford decision of the Supreme Court was one of those major treads on the pathway to secession. The man Dred Scott was taken to Missouri with Peter Blow as a slave from Virginia and sold. In 1846 Scott sued his master for his freedom, asserting that his sojourns in free jurisdictions made him free. After numerous delays, trials, and retrials, the case reached the Supreme Court in 1856. The court responded with nine separate opinions, and Chief Justice Roger Brook Taney delivered the deciding opinion. The ruling was both complex and controversial: the Missouri Compromise of 1820 was ruled unconstitutional on the grounds that Congress did not have authority to limit the expansion of slavery; slavery was found to be legal in the territories until the citizens voted for or against it; and Africans and their descendants were found to be ineligible for citizenship in the United States as the framers of the Constitution had not viewed Africans as citizens. Two of the most important environmental factors I think are relevant to the customers of the Samsung phone are price and social (Principles of Marketing, 2015). Price is a major factor for potential consumers. Many people will not purchase a Samsung phone if the price is out of their budget. There are various models at various pricing available, however, there are also other companies that offer a phone with just as many features, for a lower price (ex. HTC). Many potential consumers will not purchase a phone the same day their research begins. There is a lot of comparing and evaluation that takes place. The price is controlled by the marketer, however the reason buyers make their decision is not controlled by the marketer (Principles of Marketing, 2015). The social aspect is also an important factor. Many people use their cell phone as a primary source of communication. Their choice to purchase the Samsung phone could majorly rely on whether or not many of their friends have that make/model. There are also many additional features phones have if two or more people have the same phone (video chatting, similar apps that allow texting to be quicker and more efficient). If communicating with friends/family is a priority, this could mean a make or break for purchasing the Samsung phone. 2. Three of the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a matter of fact, Alice in Wonderland has as much to do with its author as it has to do with creativity. Lewis Carroll s beliefs are written all over the story as one navigates through the alternate reality he presents in the novel. Before exploring the evidence of Lewis Carroll s spiritual beliefs in Alice, it is important to understand what actually constitutes Lewis Carroll s beliefs. Notably, other than being an author, Lewis was an Anglican clergyman, a mathematician and a talented formal logician. Other than studying at Christ Church Oxford, he went ahead to lecture at the same institution (Auerbach, 1973). Indeed, this brief history presents an individual whose life is deeply founded in religion. Conventionally, religion is founded on three fundamental principles, that is, the existence of an alternate reality, belief in supernatural force, and of course, the conquest of good over evil. These form the foundations of religion and are indeed, the very tenets upon which Alice in Wonderland is founded. As a matter of fact, in his book The Gospel in Disney, Longfellow (1993) asserts that Christian lessons are learned from Alice in Wonderland. In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis presents and entirely alternate reality. Alice finds herself in a world other than the one in which she lives. I have chosen to accept this hypothesis because my data proves it to be true. Based on my data, as the sucrose concentration is lower, the average change in mass is less than when the sucrose concentration is higher. This is because more water has to travel in or out of the dialysis bag in order to help dilute the high concentration of the solution in the beaker down to even it out with the concentration inside of the dialysis bag. Also, I noticed that having the water in the beaker and the sucrose molarity inside a dialysis bag always results in the water being hypotonic to the dialysis bag. WestJet s differentiating point is their price competitive nature. As a low cost carrier the company values offering guests the same experience they may receive at higher priced airlines. Air Canada has, however, also began operating a low cost segment back in 2013 called Air Canada Rouge. WestJet is now looking to launch an ultra low cost segment, WestJet Swoop in June 2018, targeting guests who are mainly concerned about getting from one location to another and less concerned about flexibility and convenience (Dormer, 2017). Review Of Anna Deavere Smith s Twilight Essay In May of 1992, actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith was commissioned to write a one woman performance piece about the experiences, feelings, and tensions that contributed to and were exacerbated by the 1992 Los Angeles riots.[1] For her work, Smith interviewed over 200 residents of Los Angeles during the time of the riot. Her script consists entirely of the actual words of members of the Los Angeles community as they reflect on their experiences surrounding the Los Angeles riots. As Smith described in the introduction to her play, Twilight, which she later published as a book, I am first looking for the humanness inside the problems, or the crises. Anna Deavere Smith s play was widely received as a brilliant work of theater. One New York Times reviewer, David Richards, praised her performance saying, She does people s souls. They are dermatophytes (fungi that infect hair, skin, nails, and feed on the tissue of nails), yeasts, and nondermatophyte molds. All three classes cause the same symptoms, so the appearance of the infection does not tell which class is responsible for the infection. Dermatophytes are, by far, the most common causes of onychomycosis worldwide. Yeasts cause 8% of cases, and nondermatophyte molds cause 2% of onychomycosis cases (Ratz).
