The Devastating Effects Of Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy Hurricane Sandy was a devastating storm that affected Countries in the Caribbean as
well as the Eastern Seaboard of the United States in late October 2012. From Florida to Maine,
sensors along the coast measured the storm surge, and the accompanying winds felt as far inland as
Michigan and Wisconsin. The pinnacle of its life it was a Category 3 storm while crossing Cuba, soon
after it downgraded to a Category 1 storm. It climaxed once more as a Category 2 hurricane and the
winds covering over 1,000 miles across the diameter. Even though the storm was not as strong as it
could have been, the effects were severe due to the location of where it made landfall. When Sandy
made landfall, New York and New Jersey received some of the

Hasty Generalization
The use of the Internet has become increasingly popular in everyday activities of many Americans.
The convenience and wealth of information at hand makes it a practical tool for managing day to day
activities, communicating and staying in touch with friends, shopping, and many other activities.
Deborah Fallows wrote an article, The Internet and Daily Life, based on a survey and research
conducted through the Pew Research Center. Fallows indicated in the article that 88% of online
Americans say the Internet plays a role in their daily routines. The activities they identified as most
significant are communicating with family and friends and finding a wealth of information at their
fingertips. She also concluded from the survey that 64% of Internet users say their daily routines and
activities would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russell s review indicated that Shirky s hasty generalizations resulted in broad conclusions
representing himself and/or a small minority of techie people who use the Internet daily. Russell
pointed this out as Shirky noted, When the general public began using digital networks, the idea that
everyone would contribute something to the public sphere was assumed to be contradictory to nature.
Russell felt that Shirky s statement was more indicative of himself rather than the general public.
What evidence did he have to support the claim? Additionally, Russell did not feel that collaboration
through Internet use resulted in a significant change for society. Russell noted, The last time I checked
we still have to go to work every day and despite some momentary upheavals, the Internet has become
one more way for savvy large corporations to make money. Russell did conceptualize the point that
the Internet was beneficial but that it did not impact society in ways that Shirky

Analysis of The Titanic, by James Cameron Essay
Within the context of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron belongs to epic romance/
disaster genre. The film, released in 1997, was a global box office hit because the director provided
equal importance to history, fiction and romance. To be specific, one can see that the film s plot is
based upon the history of RMS Titanic. On the other side, the main characters including the
protagonist and the heroine (Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson) are fictional characters.
Besides, the element of romance between the main characters (Jack and Rose) is the film s main
attraction. Thesis statement: The critical analysis of the film Titanic proves that the innovative mode
of storytelling (flash back and other techniques), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this context, the director made use of flashback technique to unearth the romantic story of the
lovers in the film. To be specific, the plot moves from present condition (say, 1996) to past (say, 1912)
and to present (1996). In the opening scene, the director portrays the effort of Brock Lovett (say, a
treasure hunter) to unearth the secret behind a necklace sunk with RMS Titanic in 1912. Gradually, the
director portrays the love affair between Rose and Jack. In the end, Rose drops the necklace into the
Ocean and returns. The film ends with a fictional reunion between the lovers. B. Acting The film s
casting is related to historical and fictional characters. For instance, some of real travelers in the RMS
Titanic are portrayed in the film. This is helpful for the viewers to identify the historical element of the
film. On the other side, the protagonist and the heroine are fictional characters. For instance, Jack and
Rose, (the protagonist and his lady love) are fictional characters who inculcated the element of
romance in the film. One can see that the director s decision to caste Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack
Dawson (say, the protagonist) is one of the elements behind the commercial success of the film.
Besides, DiCaprio s youthful exuberance suits his character in the film. On the other side, Kate
Winslet s character as Rose DeWitt Bukater is apt

Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding
Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly
improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming
media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting,
the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other
services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long
time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of
audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time
to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. Be
achieved only using the software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable
applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia
signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to
the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First,
SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which
transmitted along with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved
for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more

Blood Doping Essay
Blood doping and EPO use by elite athletes is an unprofessional way of making their way to the top .
Athlete s bodies are affected by the use of these additional cells and can have a major outcome on how
they perform in the long run future. This is an illegal act by athletes and can majorly effect the body
and its homeostasis. says Savannah Rhind. The tiny gap between winning and losing has led athletes
to look for what they call marginal gains, whether that comes from extra sleep, better equipment, or
even cheating (David Epstein, 2015). Blood doping is described as an injection containing oxygenated
blood that is injected into an athlete for the sake of sports competitions and enhancing athlete s
performances. So how does it affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homeostasis also improves how the body adapts to training for competitions. Athletes may lift
weights with the desire to get stronger, but that s not what motivates the athlete s body. Lifting weights
damages muscles, which causes homeostatic stress. Enough damage to that muscle will cause the
body to react by imaginatively saying I don t like this damage so I m going to form the muscle back
bigger and stronger. That way, the next time this stressor is thrown at me, I can homeostatically handle
it. (Trevor Connor, 2014).
But, how does the body accomplish the perfect equilibrium? Well hormones play the part of this role.
Sensors in the body can detect any imbalanced pathway in the body and tells the brain to release the
appropriate hormones that is needed to restore a balanced pathway again. Once the stressor is gone,
the hormones break down. The basic feedback loop diagram below represents how our bodies are able
to reach homeostasis after a stressor occurs and what happens if they occur again, this cycle is
important for our bodies to function

6-11 Child Observation
Introduction: For my second observation for ECE Three, I choose to observe a child in the 6 11 years
old age group. In this observation, I was also curious to see the challenges of observing an older child
versus the two year old, that I observe for my first observation. Liam is an eleven year old boy who is
entering into puberty. He is a sociable kid who likes to play on his phone and enjoys baseball. My goal
while observing Liam was to determine where he is in his physical, cognitive, language, social, and
emotional developmental and if he is typical for his age. Participants: Participating in this observation
was Liam s mother, father, older sister, and young brother. Liam s parents and older sister were aware
he was being observed. Liam s family are close friends with my own. They are sporty, religious, and
close knit family who spend a lot of time together doing various activities. His mother is from
England, where they lived until the family decided to move to/back to America and the family has
lived in the Marysville/Yuba City area since Liam was one year s old. Liam s older sister is fifteen
years old, and his younger brother is six years old. Procedure: ... Show more content on

to observe, I looked for norm tables to compare Liam to. It was difficult finding a language norm table

physical developments associated with puberty. Once I had my norm tables, all that was left was to

The Negative Impact Of Internet Privacy
Privacy is the right of respecting individuals and their personal information. The internet is an
important part of every individual s daily life. Internet privacy is the security of a user s personal data
that was stored or published on the internet. The purpose of privacy on the web is to guard personal
information, data, and communication from getting obtained by a third party. All users of the internet
at some points face invasions privacy because they cannot control the usage of their information once
it was used in some form online. In today s society, the internet is used by many people for many
reasons. It can be used for research, communication, and purchasing items. Without the internet, many
things that are completed during the course of a day would be impossible or take time to complete. As
people use the internet, everything is stored in a database that tracks and keeps any personal
information that is entered by users. As users continue to use the internet to complete important tasks
such as purchasing items and paying bills, their privacy, and security become at risk. Although the
internet can be seen to have a positive impact on society, it does have a negative impact.
With the negative impacts of the internet, people must be concerned with how internet privacy on the
web can impact their personal lives. Since the internet can be accessed by anybody it can cause a lot
of damage. Internet privacy is considered a negative effect of the internet because the server providers
do not have the right to obtain and hold personal information of users for other User must take
responsibility for their own safety, privacy and security when using web browsers and website to store
their personal information. A popular form of privacy that every individual has witness is on social
media when accounts are hacked. There are many threats to privacy when the internet is in use, those
two of the biggest concerns include personal information being sold to third parties and credit card
theft (Chung Paynter, 2002). Some other examples of internet risk include identity thieves, phasing,
and scams. Due to things such as online shopping, banking and other e commerce options, personal
information is stored in the

Henry David Thoreau s Resistance To Civil Government
Have you ever thought that the government had too much power, and didn t have the right people
making the laws that everyone is expected to abide by? There are many people, including myself, that
feel like the leadership we have influencing us in government isn t quite up to par. Henry David
Thoreau was one of those people as well. Though Thoreau had different reasons for his belief than
most do today, such as the war with Mexico and slavery, his principles still stand strong in my
opinion. In Resistance to Civil Government Thoreau starts off by telling us That government is best
which governs least; (945). During his writing he talks about how he doesn t feel that the government
proves itself to be useful to the citizens. He feels that the leaders of his states government have been
elected because of majority and power, instead of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bankston s piece, Thoreau s Case for Political Disengagement , both supports and disproves Thoreau s
insight. He sees Thoreau s point of view, and agrees with is way of peaceful protest. He even
compares the works of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. to Thoreau, by establishing a common
ground in peacefulness and morality between them. On the other hand, however, he feels that the
political quietism that Thoreau uses is not strong enough or clearly justified. He expressibly makes his
point with one statement during his essay; As a member of a family and a participant in a political
order, my own conscience necessarily responds to the demands of my social position (Bankston). For
me, it is easy to see where Bankston stands. He agrees that people should just not sit by and watch the
government run the country into the ground, but he is also not willing to make stand because it would
be against the powerful majority. This concept is exactly what Thoreau was warning his readers about
back then, and it still appears to be heavily debated topic

Cassandr A Short Story
Hours pass, and Cassandra is shaken awake. As her eyes flutter open, she is greeted to a black figure
with a wide, white smile, which is almost cartoon like.
Who... what... are you..., she mutters, absently blinking at the thing before her.
Why, dear, it replies chipperly, I m you!
Leave me alone, she croaks, closing her eyes in defeat.
Ah, ah, ah, it giggles, Not so fast!
It grips Cassandra s arms in it s own, pulling her up with an inhuman strength. The small girl lets out a
scream of torture.
Stop! Stop, please! I ll get up!
Now THAT S the spirit! it smiles, letting go of its death grip.
What do you want? Cassandra asks angrily, Why didn t you come to help me when I woke up in this

Is it happening again?
Yes, yes, god! It isn t dying down this time!
One of the doctors is screaming at a nurse who is trying to hold the small girl down.
You ll injure the patient, you idiot!
The room is filled with yelling and arguing voices, all the while Cassandra s mother stands idly by.
She rests her head in her hands as she weeps, tears soaking her already soiled blouse. It had been
months since her daughter had arrived here, and there was little to no hope left in the tiny woman.
Cassandra s body continues to thrash about, her movements violent, as her limbs flail every which

Abstract
This paper offers exploratory insights into the ways in which environmental factors influence the
internationalisation of a new low technology firm, two topics that are largely understudied in the field
of international entrepreneurship. By analysing data and literature, the influence of market conditions,

Research Question
Although a big part of German exports consist of low technology products, almost all research about
factors influencing internationalisation of new ventures, has been done focusing on companies that
operate in the high technology industry. The environment in which these firms operate is very
different from the environment in which low technology firms operate. High technology firms face
high R D costs, short product life cycles and mostly operate in niche markets (Knight Cavusgill,
2004). These conditions are very different for low tech firms (Evers, 2010). Here, R D costs and
product life cycles play no significant role. Since studies about new venture internationalisation are so
heavily grounded in the high tech sector, little is known about the factors that affect the
internationalisation of firms in the low tech sector. This raises the possibility that past findings do not
generalize equally well to all economic sectors (Zahra George, 2002). Furthermore, little research has
been done about how environmental factors influence new venture internationalisation, and more
research is necessary to find out how these factors influence early internationalisation (Fernhaber,
2007). Environmental factors are factors that a firm cannot control, and that are part of the external
environment they operate in (Zou and Stan, 1998). These factors can have a significant push and pull
effect on new ventures to internationalise

Responses For The Child And Her Father
Anticipated responses for the child and her father might very different. The child may cope by acting
out, being emotionally dysregulated, having eating or sleep disturbances, brooding or withdrawing,
being restless or unable to be still, taking on too much responsibility or developmentally, emotionally
and physically, regressing (Bugge, Darbyshire, Røkholt, Haugstvedt, Helseth, 2014). The child who
witnesses a death may be afraid they or another family member will die in the same way. They may
also be actively avoiding painful memories or suppressing their needs being afraid to cause more
trouble (Bugge, et al., 2014). The process of grieving is complicated by the tasks of the developmental
stage that child is going through, the relationship with the deceased, their coping skills including
support systems, and the circumstances of the death (Slyter, 2012). She is in Erikson s stage of
Industry versus Inferiority, so the clinician might see her express the thought that she has done
something wrong that caused her mother s death. The father, although he can express his grief more
directly, may find that he has conflicting feelings about processing his grief and simultaneously
attending to his daughter s needs. He may go through the five stages of grief as proposed by Kubler
Ross (Corr, 2015). These stages include denial, or shock; anger; bargaining; depression; and
acceptance, or moving forward. These stages may occur in any order, or not at all. They can also

A Twisted Hero Definition
A twisted hero is someone who demonstrates great leadership skills, manipulation tactics, and can lead
a group of people to success, but does it in a warped or unethical manner. This is because someone
who is twisted is, by definition, warped or has an unhealthy way of thinking. However, a hero is
defined as a person who is admired or idealized for their courage, noble qualities, and outstanding
achievements. They are perceived as mighty protectors and great leaders who can do amazing acts.
They can bring success and wealth to people, and lead them towards prosperity. When these terms,
twisted and hero, are combined, it gives us the base definition of a twisted hero. There are two
categories that define a hero, which are traditional heroes and twisted heroes. A traditional hero and
twisted hero are seen as the same by some people, but when compared to a traditional hero, a twisted
hero has few similarities and many differences. Most traditional heroes are the good guys; they fight
for and protect what is right. In comparison, a twisted hero fights for what he or she thinks is right,
and disregards the safety or feelings of others. Traditional heroes are also often revered for their
courage, achievements, and noble qualities. They are looked up to by others and can be idolized or
admired by the greater public. In the case of a twisted hero, they are looked up to but not for the same
reasons. Twisted heroes are looked up to out of fear and because their power demands it,

Commodus started the fall of the roman empire(an extensive group of states or countries under a

was cruel and chaotic is that he would fight as a gladiator in the Colosseum. Some people say that
Commodus had a good education, making him a good leader but that s just wrong.
Commodus was cruel because he killed things for fun. Some evidence to support this is that when
Commodus practiced fighting as a gladiator he would slay his opponents. M R

Incidents In The Life Of The Runaway Slave Girl
William Grimes in the, Life of William Grimes the Runaway Slave, and Harriet Jacobs in the,
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, both wrote about their lives under the hands of slavery. Though
they both experienced hardships, the difference in gender played a role in how their enslavement was
endured. These different experiences influenced different tones. In Chapter three of Incidents, Jacobs
tone is emotional, hopeless and depressing. She writes But to the slave mother New Year s day comes

While Grimes targeted anyone willing or curious enough to listen, Jacobs specifically targeted white,
Christian women. The tone she used was critical and emotional. The sentence He tried his utmost to
corrupt the pure principles my grandmother had instilled. would provoke emotion from female
Christian readers, because it goes against their beliefs. She wants her audience to think and fully
understand the hardships she faced, therefore she makes her tone critical. She engages the reader by
saying, He told me I was his property; that I must subject to his will in all things. My soul revolted
against the mean tyranny. But where could I turn to for protection? The sentence is shortly followed
up by her stating why she feels trapped. The mistress is of no help to a slave girl, she is jealous and
angry with her. This promotes the thoughts and feelings of the slave girl and make the reader criticize
themselves. While Grimes on the other hand stayed objective. On page 78, Grimes says after receiving
a severe beating, I had before anticipated this, for I knew he could not do without me: all he wanted of
me, to set me at liberty, was for me to ask his pardon, and promise never to ask him to sell me again.
Even when he endured severe beating and imprisonment he stayed emotionless. Both authors shared
their compelling stories about their personal hand in slavery. Though they have had many similar and

Eleanor of Aquitaine Essay
Eleanor of Aquitaine
Much has been written about the historical life of Eleanor of Aquitane. Her life, Undoubtedly reads
like legend, at least in part because it is. It is fairly safe to say that the world had never seen a woman
like Eleanor of Aquitane, and it is doubtful that there has been a woman since who could rival her
power, intelligence, beauty and sheer force of will.
Like many other women of her time Eleanor came from a long line of noble and royal blood. Her
lineage can be traced back to the earliest kings of both England and France.(follow link to take a look

The truly compelling questions of Eleanor s life revolve around how she found the pure strength of
will to live the life that she did as a woman. She undoubtedly had an enormous amount of power,
certainly more than any woman before her, and arguably more than any woman since. Eleanor had the
courage to be exactly the person that she was, regardless of gender, however the question that remains
is how she managed to do so. What was it about her life and her early upbringing that compelled her
to become the woman she was? What influences in Eleanor s life allowed her to pursue her own

Importance Of Solar Power
Solar Power This paper is going to be based on why should we use solar energy, how does it work,
what are the advantages of solar power, and why should we apply solar power in the Dominican
Republic. Did you know that the heat of the sun is about equivalent to burning a billion trillion tons of
coal an hour? Even though only a small fraction of that heat ever reaches the earth is still more than
enough to power up our whole planet. We are very certain that we have all heard about the terms fossil

The IEA (International Energy Agency) predicted in 2014 that in 2050, solar power will be around
27% of electricity consumption around the world (16 from PV, 11 from CSP). It was also predicted
that solar power would be the biggest source of energy worldwide, and the most and biggest solar
power installations would be in China and India. Solar power technologies started developing in mid
1860s when the scarcity of coal was beginning to be a concern to people. However in early 20th
century solar power would cease to flow due to the economy and the utility of coal and petroleum.
The use of solar power is being more visible and popular across the world by annum. Just to give a
perspective, in 1974 about only 6 homes in the United States were entirely heated or cooled by solar
power. However, it was predicted that by the end of 2016 around one million homes in the United
States will be fully solar powered. The cost of installation of solar converters is one of the major
issues for the society. Due to high costs of installation, lots of people don t even consider have a solar
source installed. However, people don t usually go into deep analysis, but if you do get into it, you can
notice that, yes, it is expensive to install, but the electric bills will immediately drop, making this
innovation totally worth the investment. Solar power is a fully renewable source of power which does

She did many things in her life, but in terms of how many people saved, how long it took, and the
amount of risk that was there, Harriet Tubmans greatest achievement was scouting a raid to free
slaves. Scouting a raid was Harriets greatest achievements because of how many people that were
actually saved. After this raid was done and over with, there was about eight hundred people saved,
thanks to Harriet and other soldiers. Harriet, while the

Headlines Sylvia Plath
Esther has seen or done many things that represent her and show how she has affected those around
her. Although there are many other examples, the headlines Joan mentions in chapter 16 are a prime
example of how Esther has affected people even those who are strangers. The headlines symbolize
Esther s exposure to the world and her impact on them. Plath developed the headlines by using Joan to
be the person to show them to Esther and explain to her how she had heard of her while she was gone.
Esther thinks that she is very secluded from the rest of the world and she only sees the pain and
darkness in her story. But what she does not see is that she is very exposed to the world and that other
people see a sensual story of a young woman who struggles to be herself. After Esther reads the
headlines she finally realizes this. She realizes that she inspires others and that maybe she can inspire
herself too. Maybe to even better herself and finally break free from society. Although Plath does not
gradually develop the headlines throughout the story, she still manages to make it a meaningful and
important symbol. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esther only sees the pain and suffering in her story and in her suicide attempts, but after reading the
headlines we see that the rest of the world sees the struggles and sadness that Esther must be going
through. They see her story as sensual and as a young woman who is struggling within herself. Joan
says she was inspired to go to New York to attempt suicide after hearing about Esther s story.
Although we are not sure how this inspired Joan, we assume she thought if she went to New York she
would be in the news like Esther. The headlines show Esther that what she see can be interpreted in a
completely different way by

Super-Ego In Macbeth
Macbeth inner conflict (the id and super ego) In these papers I m going to analyze the inner conflict
for Macbeth through the Sigmund Freud psychoanalytical theory; the ID and the Super ego. According
to Freud, the Id know no judgments of value; no good and evil no morality. the id includes all the
instinctual impulses as well as the destructive Instinet. the id is dark and inaccessible part. Most of that
is a negative character. we approach the id with analogies we call it a chaos. while the super ego can
be thought of as type of conscience that punishes misbehavior with feeling guilty and self reproach
and. the super ego in its role of moral artharitananis the opposite of the id. the super ego also operates

Symbolism In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
In the poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, the meaning of the piece varies on the readers`
perspective. Some think that this is one of happy memories between a son and father. Others think that
the waltz covers up the truth of child cruelty. In my opinion, the symbolism and the imagery in My
Papas Waltz gave me the automatic thought of the abusive relationship between the father and son.
But after investigating the poem I could begin to see the positive side.
After reading the first line of Roethke s piece, My Papas Waltz, I automatically assumed this poem
had negative meaning. The first couple lines state, The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy (Lines 1 2). Meaning the father has been drinking, and not just a little.
He was so drunk that even the smell of his breath could make his son, feel a bit light headed. Alcohol
makes people do crazy things so this could possibly give the father the idea and the ability to harm the
child. Because in most cases it is not a great situation when a drunken adult presents himself to a
child. This poem could be comprehended as a description of a young boy s experience of abuse from
his father. But I hang on like death seems to show a child s frightful feeling from having to face a
drunken father. The image in my head here is that of the father and his child kitchen around the
kitchen with the boy having to hold on like death because it s a scary situation for the young boy. To
emphasize the helplessness of the

Gender Issues Of Danish Sports Organizations
In Gertrud Pfister s article, Gender Issues in Danish Sports Organizations Experiences, Attitudes and
Evaluations, there is a discussion as to whether women are indeed treated differently in higher
positions of power in Denmark. Pfister uses statistics and studies to prove her argument that women
are indeed treated differently and presented differently in the organizations. She even begins to touch
on the fact that men and women are portrayed wrongly in the studies she talks about. Throughout the
article women are presented in a mann that suggests they could not possibly be an ideal leader in the
ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job.
Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same
opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to join
the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated within
these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the existing gender
hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys on Danish sports
leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to investigate this topic as well.
We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the power appears to be in the hands of
men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that are of the female sex? According to
Time Magazine there

The Little Mermaid Analysis
Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They tell
us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated by
men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just being
curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is
evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and
show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaid and the movie
Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton.
The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history,
women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be a
meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is
clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected
to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are content with
living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like everyone else, but she
wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an infatuation with the surface,
always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world
of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to
break free from the social norm consumed her every thought.
Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California. It
took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder
disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality
and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. This movie,
much like The Little Mermaid, is about the struggle of two males who are trying to break free from the
social norms imposed by society. The protagonist in this movie, Tre, moves to South Central, Los
Angeles to live

1. The development of Conditions of Carriage for airlines.
Airlines, planes, and aircrafts are all words that are used to relate to air transportation. Air
transportations are a special service that is taken on air to reach certain destinations around the world
within hours. A service where our ancestors would of surly preferred rather than walking and riding
horses/ camels that will take months or years to reach their destinations. It is alleged that the Wright
Brothers were the first people to construct and fly a plane in mid air. However that is not entirely true,
although the Wright Brothers were not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft they certainly
however were the first to invent and construct aircraft controls that made fixed wings powered flight
possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Music And Romantic Ballads
Friedrich Nietzsche a German philosopher once said that Without music, life would be a mistake . I
agree with that statement because music is very powerful and important in our daily lives. Just
imagine being stressed at school or maybe your crush didn t love you, listening to music can help you
ease your mind and forget about your worries. We all have certain genre of music that we enjoyed
listening to, such as Hip Hop, Classical, Pop , Country , Gospel, Ballad, etc. For me I enjoyed
listening to Romantic Ballad; a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas, whenever I feel
distress or bitter because it helps me express my true feeling for something I am passionate towards.
Ballad were originally written to support dancers, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can personally relate to this song because I have been in similar situation where I have been cheated
on and knew about it but did not confront that person. Romantic Ballad is unlike a party music that
you hear in clubs or dance to when it comes on the radio, because they are usually slow in tempo and
build towards a loud and heartwarming sing alone. It often has a refrain , a repeated section that
separates parts of the story being told in a song. Ballads are usually 13 lines and common forms are
ABAB or ABCB repeated in alternating 8 and 6 syllable lines. Ed Sheeran is a famous english

What Makes A Tigger Being An Optimist
I consider myself to be a Tigger being an optimist. In my opinion, my dad had quite an influence in
shaping my character more towards a Tigger than an Eeyore , who is a pessimist. Actually, on
occasions, I still feel pessimistic during certain circumstances and can remember feeling that way
sometimes when I was younger. I feel in a way, I may perhaps been molded or influenced by some
people to be an optimist. The main person who shaped me into a Tigger is my dad, however, ever
since I was really young, my dad would encourage me even when I knew he was actually disappointed
at me. This didn t mean he didn t scold me for wrong deeds I have done or not to be frank about the
faults I had. From time to time, he would remind me it is better

Social Classes In The United States
It is said that the United States is made up of around six different social classes, however the three
main classes are better known as the Upper, Middle, and Lower class. The three remaining classes are
better known as subcategories for each of the main classes. These subcategories help break the classes
up giving them their individual class.
The upper class makes up roughly 1% of the United States population. This class is best known as the
class of wealth. This wealth is referred to as old (inherited) money. Individuals within the upper class
are often known by and for their family name and/or wealth. Examples being the Rockefellers and the
Kennedys. Although these individuals are born into money, most are educated at the biggest and most
prestigious colleges in the United States. Most individuals use this education to continue family
businesses or to make a name for themselves outside the family name. Within ... Show more content

Individuals that make up the middle class earn their income by means of working a professional job. A
large majority of this group are educated with college degrees or have attended college for a period of
time outside of high school. The middle class is often referred to as the white collar class which in
turn gets its name from the fact that many middle class men wear suits with white shirts to work daily.
Examples of the middle class are those that are doctors, lawyers, and pharmacist. A category that can
be found within the middle class is the working class. This class makes up 30% of the United States
population. Individuals within this class are educated with college and/or technical degrees or training.
This group can also be referred to as the blue collared class, which in turn means that this group is
likely to wear uniforms instead of suits and ties. Examples of these individuals would be those that are
electricians, carpenters and police

Collegiate Athlete Argumentative Essay
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence (Vince Lombardi).
Collegiate athletes have the best chance of success in college, because they constantly get pressure
from the coaches to get good grades, won t have any debt after college because they are on full
scholarship and playing sports helps builds social network.
Coaches keep players on their toes by staying on them every second of the day to keep their grades up.
If coaches didn t stay on their players about their grades, then they will be lackadaisical about their
school work. Coaches and players have a hand and hand relationship, players feed off their coaches
enthusiasm. Everyday in practice and workouts there is not a day where our coaches don t speak on
grades, tutors or even establishing a relationship with our professors. As an athlete grades are
everything because without passing grades, according to the NCAA you are not permitted to
participate in any collegiate sports if your are meeting the academic requirements. The student body is

student that s not on on scholarship has to come out of pocket and pay for everything. They take out
student loans to cover whatever they need so they can attend the school. So a student has to work
twice as hard as an athlete just to keep their head above water, they have to try and maintain a job and

  • 5. Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting, the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. Be achieved only using the software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First, SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which transmitted along with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Athlete s bodies are affected by the use of these additional cells and can have a major outcome on how they perform in the long run future. The tiny gap between winning and losing has led athletes to look for what they call marginal gains, whether that comes from extra sleep, better equipment, or even cheating (David Epstein, 2015). Athletes may lift weights with the desire to get stronger, but that s not what motivates the athlete s body. Lifting weights damages muscles, which causes homeostatic stress. Enough damage to that muscle will cause the body to react by imaginatively saying I don t like this damage so I m going to form the muscle back bigger and stronger. That way, the next time this stressor is thrown at me, I can homeostatically handle it. (Trevor Connor, 2014). But, how does the body accomplish the perfect equilibrium? Well hormones play the part of this role. Sensors in the body can detect any imbalanced pathway in the body and tells the brain to release the appropriate hormones that is needed to restore a balanced pathway again. Once the stressor is gone, the hormones break down. The basic feedback loop diagram below represents how our bodies are able to reach homeostasis after a stressor occurs and what happens if they occur again, this cycle is important for our bodies to function ... Though Thoreau had different reasons for his belief than most do today, such as the war with Mexico and slavery, his principles still stand strong in my opinion. In Resistance to Civil Government Thoreau starts off by telling us That government is best which governs least; (945). Research Question Although a big part of German exports consist of low technology products, almost all research about factors influencing internationalisation of new ventures, has been done focusing on companies that operate in the high technology industry. The environment in which these firms operate is very different from the environment in which low technology firms operate. High technology firms face high R D costs, short product life cycles and mostly operate in niche markets (Knight Cavusgill, 2004). These conditions are very different for low tech firms (Evers, 2010). Here, R D costs and product life cycles play no significant role. Since studies about new venture internationalisation are so heavily grounded in the high tech sector, little is known about the factors that affect the internationalisation of firms in the low tech sector. This raises the possibility that past findings do not generalize equally well to all economic sectors (Zahra George, 2002). Furthermore, little research has been done about how environmental factors influence new venture internationalisation, and more research is necessary to find out how these factors influence early internationalisation (Fernhaber, 2007). Environmental factors are factors that a firm cannot control, and that are part of the external environment they operate in (Zou and Stan, 1998). These factors can have a significant push and pull effect on new ventures to internationalise

The child who witnesses a death may be afraid they or another family member will die in the same way. A Twisted Hero Definition A twisted hero is someone who demonstrates great leadership skills, manipulation tactics, and can lead a group of people to success, but does it in a warped or unethical manner. This is because someone who is twisted is, by definition, warped or has an unhealthy way of thinking. However, a hero is defined as a person who is admired or idealized for their courage, noble qualities, and outstanding achievements. They are perceived as mighty protectors and great leaders who can do amazing acts. They can bring success and wealth to people, and lead them towards prosperity. When these terms, twisted and hero, are combined, it gives us the base definition of a twisted hero. There are two categories that define a hero, which are traditional heroes and twisted heroes. A traditional hero and twisted hero are seen as the same by some people, but when compared to a traditional hero, a twisted hero has few similarities and many differences. Most traditional heroes are the good guys; they fight for and protect what is right. In comparison, a twisted hero fights for what he or she thinks is right, and disregards the safety or feelings of others. Traditional heroes are also often revered for their courage, achievements, and noble qualities. They are looked up to by others and can be idolized or admired by the greater public. Although there are many other examples, the headlines Joan mentions in chapter 16 are a prime example of how Esther has affected people even those who are strangers. The headlines symbolize Esther s exposure to the world and her impact on them. Plath developed the headlines by using Joan to be the person to show them to Esther and explain to her how she had heard of her while she was gone. Esther thinks that she is very secluded from the rest of the world and she only sees the pain and darkness in her story. But what she does not see is that she is very exposed to the world and that other people see a sensual story of a young woman who struggles to be herself. After Esther reads the headlines she finally realizes this. She realizes that she inspires others and that maybe she can inspire herself too. Super-Ego In Macbeth Macbeth inner conflict (the id and super ego) In these papers I m going to analyze the inner conflict for Macbeth through the Sigmund Freud psychoanalytical theory; the ID and the Super ego. According to Freud, the Id know no judgments of value; no good and evil no morality. the id includes all the instinctual impulses as well as the destructive Instinet. the id is dark and inaccessible part. Most of that is a negative character. we approach the id with analogies we call it a chaos. while the super ego can be thought of as type of conscience that punishes misbehavior with feeling guilty and self reproach and. the super ego in its role of moral artharitananis the opposite of the id. the super ego also operates in accordance with social ... • 24. Symbolism In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke In the poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, the meaning of the piece varies on the readers` perspective. Some think that this is one of happy memories between a son and father. Others think that the waltz covers up the truth of child cruelty. In my opinion, the symbolism and the imagery in My Papas Waltz gave me the automatic thought of the abusive relationship between the father and son. But after investigating the poem I could begin to see the positive side. After reading the first line of Roethke s piece, My Papas Waltz, I automatically assumed this poem had negative meaning. The first couple lines state, The whiskey on your breath Could make a small boy dizzy (Lines 1 2). Meaning the father has been drinking, and not just a little. He was so drunk that even the smell of his breath could make his son, feel a bit light headed. Alcohol makes people do crazy things so this could possibly give the father the idea and the ability to harm the child. Because in most cases it is not a great situation when a drunken adult presents himself to a child. This poem could be comprehended as a description of a young boy s experience of abuse from his father. But I hang on like death seems to show a child s frightful feeling from having to face a drunken father. The image in my head here is that of the father and his child kitchen around the kitchen with the boy having to hold on like death because it s a scary situation for the young boy. To emphasize the helplessness of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Gender Issues Of Danish Sports Organizations In Gertrud Pfister s article, Gender Issues in Danish Sports Organizations Experiences, Attitudes and Evaluations, there is a discussion as to whether women are indeed treated differently in higher positions of power in Denmark. Pfister uses statistics and studies to prove her argument that women are indeed treated differently and presented differently in the organizations. She even begins to touch on the fact that men and women are portrayed wrongly in the studies she talks about. Throughout the article women are presented in a mann that suggests they could not possibly be an ideal leader in the ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job. Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to join the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated within these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the existing gender hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys on Danish sports leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to investigate this topic as well. We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the power appears to be in the hands of men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that are of the female sex? • 26. The Little Mermaid Analysis Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated by men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just being curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaid and the movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton. The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history, women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to break free from the social norm consumed her every thought. Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California. It took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. This movie, much like The Little Mermaid, is about the struggle of two males who are trying to break free from the social norms imposed by society. The protagonist in this movie, Tre, moves to South Central, Los Angeles to live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Collegiate athletes have the best chance of success in college, because they constantly get pressure from the coaches to get good grades, won t have any debt after college because they are on full scholarship and playing sports helps builds social network. Coaches keep players on their toes by staying on them every second of the day to keep their grades up. If coaches didn t stay on their players about their grades, then they will be lackadaisical about their school work. Coaches and players have a hand and hand relationship, players feed off their coaches enthusiasm. Everyday in practice and workouts there is not a day where our coaches don t speak on grades, tutors or even establishing a relationship with our professors.
