The Importance Of Good Writing Skills In The Dental Office
Did you know pens are lost every day in dental offices around the country? Whether a coworker or the
dentist themselves, takes the pen, or you lose the pen going from one room to another, a replacement
must be found. As a dental assistant, you never really get the chance to sit down. You are running from
one patient room to another following the doctor around the office. In an American dental office, there
are multiple tasks to be completed. Tasks may involve both writing and communication skills.
Carrying a pen around is like carrying your cell phone around, you need it at all times in the dental
world in order to keep in touch with your team. Many things must be written down and you cannot
write something without a pen, but let us look at the importance of writing skills as a dental assistant.
In the dental field having good writing skills is highly important. Good writing skills help in job
opportunities, dental assisting tasks, and can result with positive or negative outcomes.
Job Searching As dental professionals, it is very important to have good writing skills while job
searching. Majority of jobs request resumes to learn about previous job experiences, educational
background, and current knowledge in the field which someone is applying for. A resume is a highly
important representation of professionalism, working knowledge, but also writing skills knowledge. A
good resume is often your first impression to a recruiter. Before interviews are scheduled, resumes are

Intercultural Marriage Essay example
Caroline Hwang made the point in her essay quot; The Good Daughter quot; that as a first generation
American her parents expected her to marry a Korean man. Hwang decided to only date the non
Korean men which she knew she could quot;stay clearheaded about so she could fulfill her parent s
wishes and bear children that looked Korean.
In the essay Your Place is Empty quot; by Anne Tyler the decision to marry within cultural boundaries
was not made. Hassan (a young doctor who took up practice in America) decided to marry Elizabeth
(a very American girl). Hassan s mother decides to take a trip to America and stay as a house guest.

This caused minor difficulties while doing laundry. Mrs. Ardavi had to used a special rack which she
ran under water in the shower (because Elizabeth assembled it) to do her laundry.
Hilary is another matter altogether. Hilary is only three years old and doesn t understand why her
grandmother acts so differently. At most times she doesn t even seem to care. Though she is not
Muslim or full blooded Iranian Mrs. Ardavi still had no problem treating Hilary as if she was Iranian
and a part of the family. Hilary seemed to be the largest commonality between the women. The scene
in which Hilary seemed to bring the women closer the most is when Mrs. Ardavi first arrives and asks
to see her. The smells of milk and rubber, and talcum powder, smells she would know anywhere. Even
in the half light from the hallway, she could tell that Hilary was beautiful. She had black, tumbling
hair, long black lashes, and a skin of a tone they called wheat colored, lighter than Hassan s. In this
part Mrs. Ardavi shows that Hilary is not part of any real category yet, not Christian or Muslim so she
may be considered an innocent still. The issue of Hilary s status as being clean or unclean is just not
discussed.
Hilary was also the main subject of some of the disagreements between Elizabeth and Mrs. Ardavi.
The methods of child rearing that Elizabeth used on Hilary were at times quite different from those
which Mrs. Ardavi had at one point used on her own sons or sometimes suggested.

Philanthropy In Sports
Professional sports in which athletes receive compensation for their athletic talent and abilities, is
often only associated with the entertainment industry. One can watch a sporting event on TV or pay to
go to the arena or stadium to watch the competition live. Outside of watching and participating in a
sport, professional leagues are businesses, concerned about making a profit from their fan base. It is
seldom that one would associate a professional athletic club with philanthropy. According to Webster s
College Dictionary, the definition of philanthropy is an altruistic concern for human beings especially
as manifested by donations of money, property, or work to needy persons or to institutions advancing
human welfare (Webster s). In a business concerned with its bottom line, donating money for a
humanitarian cause would seem like a seldom seem practice. The Barcelona Football Club, however,
has proven throughout the years that giving back to the community is what helps them adhere to their
team motto mes que un club or Catalan for more than a club . Barcelona Football Club, located in
Barcelona, Spain, according to Forbes is the eighth most valuable sports team in the world and the
third most valuable soccer team. In 2012, the team earned about $602 million in revenues and a record
$59 million in profits with player s salaries reaching $362 million (Fontevecchia). Of that profit, 0.7%

The Social Marketing Aspects Of Twitter
Research Project 1: Comparing Brand Project This literature review will mainly discuss some
literatures that address on the social marketing aspects of Twitter. With the growing accessibility of the
internet, social media does not only change the dynamics of sustaining human relationships (O Brien,
2011), but enables consumers to establish a social community within a brand. Businesses center their
marketing strategy on social media branding because active engagement implies the domino effects
following the robust electronic word of mouth (eWOM). Barton (2006) defines eWOM as a statement
made by potential customers about a brand or a product, which potentially generates interest in the
category of products and influences purchasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expanding beyond microblogs, the ease and openness of messages have made Twitter the best
alternative to reporting and accessing emergencies news such as earthquakes and political movements
(Muralidharan et al., 2011). More importantly, Jansen, Zhang, Sobel and Chowdhury (2009) reported
that approximately one quarter of the tweets touches on brands, among which users seek to provide
information or express opinions about the brand. Consistently, Zhang, Jansen Chowdhury (2011)
indicated that Twitter provides a rich plethora of resources for companies to grasps consumers taste,
trends and promote campaigns through engaging in the eWOM communication process. As shown,
social media platforms become an essential channel for brands to gather audiences and heighten brand
awareness, but no studies have analysed the well established Twitter community of big brands as a
good reference. It is worthy examining how the biggest brands such as McDonalds and KFC
manipulate their tweets on Twitter and uncover the type of messages that both food giants deliver.
There has been a mixture of views among researchers regarding the success measurements of social
marketing (Baumgartner, 2014). The importance of maximising tweets in social branding is
emphasized in Keller (2007) s study. Regardless of the nature of the tweet material, Keller argues that
the more frequent a brand tweets, the more probably it will attend to specific customers. While

Greek Creature In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s epic poem Inferno, he uses many interesting character and creatures from many iconic
stories we have read or heard about. He repeats and takes a lot of ideas from Greek culture, which
very clever because as reader we are familiarized with Greek Mythologies. Greek mythologies are
based on very unusual and unique creatures, which are very interesting, and he uses these creatures in
his journey and showcases their importance in each situation. The creature I found interesting and
attractive is Cerberus, not because the way Dante describes the creature. I saw this creature in a movie
called Percy Jackson: The Light Thief, Percy goes to the underworld to save his mother from Hades.
When Percy reaches to Hades home, his home is guarded with Cerberus, which was a three headed
creature, looked very vicious, and violent. When I read about this creature in Dante s Inferno it
brought back that image I saw in the movie, very scary looking beast that is about to kill. Although it
looked scary, I found it fascinating because there were three heads jointed together with long teeth like
vampires, each with different features. This is why I picked this creature, due to my fascination with
the Percy Jackson series. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which I stated previous how a Cerberus does look like a beast with three dog heads. Dante goes
further with describing this creature, his eyes red, his beard a greasy black, his belly swollen...showed

this creature in the third circle of hell, Gluttony, the creature is there to stop Virgil and Dante from

Unit 1 Research Paper 1: Paradigm Shift
Introduction
In the past, virtual reality technology was thought of by many as a gimmick, and the hope for it to
become a mainstream technology was discarded as products did not work as how the public
envisioned. However, the proper technology is now available to make virtual reality just that: a reality.
The entertainment industry is on the verge of a monumental paradigm shift that will completely
transform the way these entertainment mediums are experienced. The typical experience of video
games is one with a controller with joysticks that are used to control where the playable character is
looking along with a monitor or television screen in front of the player. Today, this scenario is so ...

An incredible use outside of video games is military simulation training using these same
technologies. Virtual Battlespace is a simulation program developed by Bohemia Interactive
Simulations and is used by the US Army and U.S. Marine Corps as well as other armed forces across
the globe, such as the UK Army, the French Air Force, and the Royal Navy.
Conclusions
Although this specific program will likely not become available to average consumers, the same
foundations for the simulation will be available on the marketplace while being affordable at the same
time. In time, applied use of virtual reality such as the Oculus Rift will become mainstream and
accepted in everyday life not only due its entertainment value, but also due to its affordability for
consumers everywhere. Thoughts of virtual reality often resemble fantastical scenarios reminiscent of
scenes in movies with similar themes like Gamer, The Matrix, Total Recall, and Inception. After one
delves into the VR technology in products such as the Oculus Rift, one will begin to believe, and he or
she will brace themselves for the tidal wave that is the paradigm shift of virtual reality.

I Am A Strategic Thinker
Reflecting upon my personal areas for growth, I recognize a deep need to become more comfortable
amiss conflict and to be an active participant in resolving conflict throughout the various aspects of
my life. Conflict resolution is a necessary skill in order to be an adaptable minister and chaplain. It is
essential to understand what the sources of tension may be and how to react in grace and love to work
towards reconciliation. I am not an assertive person and have found myself avoiding conflict through
compromising or giving up my ideas for another. Going forward in ministry, I need to be prepared to
understand where conflict arises and how to squander it. I am a strategic thinker and hope to learn and
adapt methods for handling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The idea is to keep it
within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict resolution sees conflict as an interruption of normal
life.ii The idea is to find a solution usually a compromise as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot be
avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community
handles conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and change are
a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be the voice that
highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the
conversation and what each person has at stake in the decision making. People cause conflict. We can
either further the conflict or squander it with our actions.
The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This kind of conflict
provides an opportunity for growth and creative change. On the other hand, the conflict that is left
unattended and ignored can destroy unity, hinder growth, and render ministry ineffective. Poorly
managed situations can lead to increased tension, decreased productivity, and lingering resentments
that can last a very long time. Alternatively, if the conflict is well managed, it can lead to improved
communication and teamwork, more innovative ideas, and increased motivation. We let present

condition that can have detrimental effects on the lives of people suffering from diabetes, diabetes is a
condition that has long term side effects that can be life threatening. The purpose of this literature
review is to explore what is best evidence based nursing practice to improve wound healing of
diabetic foot ulcers. Foot ulcers account for 60% of lower limb amputations, causes of lower limb
amputations include peripheral vascular disease (any disorder that involves the circulatory system
outside the brain or heart). (Emedical Health, 2014), and the presence of ischemia due to neuropathy

The Importance Of Strath Suardal Formation Of The Durness...
The country rock was identified in the field to be a Meta Limestone, but a more in depth chemical
analysis done by others classifies it as a dolostone of the Strath Suardal formation from the Durness
group. (Digimap, 2017) (Goodenough et al. 2011)
There are two distinctive features present in this unit. The first is the syncline and anticline that extend
across the map in a NEE SWW strike, shown in Figure 5.1 (Need to fix map to show this). The second
is the thermal areole found in relation to the Beinn an Dubhaich granite intrusion. The most frequently
mentioned folding in the area is a large anticline which extends from the Beinn an Dubhaich intrusion

This correlates to Hoersch s highest temperature forsterite bearing zone which would be found closest

The Large Intrusive Igneous Rocks
In the area there are three main large igneous intrusions. Two are the granitic intrusions to the north
(Beinn Dearg Bheag/Inner Granite) and south (Beinn an Dubhaich) of the map in Figure 5.1.1, the
other is a smaller, patchy intrusion of Micro Diorite which curves across the north east of the map and
appears in blobs in other places within the Agglomerate unit.
This study classifies the two granites under one unit named the Kilbride Granite, however, the
research, which uses both radiometric dating and composition analysis, identifies them as two
compositionally separate units with different ages. On the other hand, it is not wrong to say that the
granites were related as they are the two latest forming members of the Eastern Red Hills complex.
(Bell and Harris, 1986)
The extent of the granites and their contacts with others are often heavily inferred. This was most
often due to poor exposure. Usually the granite contacts were inferred from topographical changes
instead of visible changes in rock type. Features such as clefts, also noticed by Raybould (1973), tree
lines and waterfalls (due to the relatively poor permeability and greater hardness of the granite in
comparison to the Meta Limestone), were all used to map the Beinn an Dubhaich granite. The Inner
Granite was signified by a steepening in slope angle and the

The Importance Of Flight In Song Of Solomon
In the novel Song of Solomon, a central motif of flight was dominant throughout the entire book. Song
of Solomon starts off the first scene of the book with a man surrounded by an audience who are
watching him decide whether or not he is going to jump off the roof of a building. The man that was
on top of the building was Robert Smith. It is never said in the book, but it can be assumed that Robert
Smith was one of the Seven Days men. The Seven Days is a group of black men who respond to a
person of color getting killed by a white person by taking seven days to kill one white person for every
person of color that is killed. Smith s attempt to jump off of the building seemed like he actually
believed that he could physically fly, even though he ended up just falling to his death. The theme of
flight was mentioned countless times throughout the rest of the novel, and even in the last scene of the
novel, when Milkman takes flight for the first and last time, multiple physical references to flight are
mentioned. The central idea of flight is what the book centers around and flight helps create a journey
that is full of personal growth and reflection for the main character Milkman. The countless references
about flight, and a link between self acceptance and naming in the book create the build up that leads
to Milkman s flight at the end of the book. During the first scene of Song of Solomon, Robert Smith is
surrounded by a crowd that is described as half sniggered and half filled with apprehension watching
him before he attempts to jump off of the roof (Morrison 6). Throughout the entire first scene of the
book, flight or things related to it, are mentioned countless amounts of times, including describing the
man as a man flapping his wings and a little bird ll be here in the morning (Morrison 9). It even talked
about Mr. Smith saying that he had blue silk wings (Morrison 9). As the crowd is waiting, a woman
starts to sing a song about flight. The song the women in the crowd started to sing also mentions
flight, O sugarman done fly away, Sugarman done gone, Sugarman cut across the sky, Sugarman gone
home.. (Morrison 6). This song was sung at the beginning of the novel when a man was about to take

Homeless Get Out The Way Essay
Move Homeless, Get Out The Way!
The Clark County city government believe that homelessness is out of control and they put policies in
place to discourage it. For example, Metro (Las Vegas police officers) may allow a Tent City to pop up
here and there for people to live in their sleeping bags lined up along the streets near each other, but
when the word is passed down from their superiors for whatever reason to remove the homeless from
certain areas (it could be a business or casino complaining that there are too many homeless people
scattered in the streets making Las Vegas look bummy ), they will come by and tell everyone to leave
or move somewhere else. Eventually the homeless will come back to those same areas when the heat

When driving over certain bridges you will see them and they look like the aqueducts in Los Angeles
that you see in movies all the time, but only a bit smaller. There are several articles that cover the
homeless living in these storm drain tunnels from many reliable and not so reliable news sources.
From my perspective, the tunnels are where the antisocial homeless go and make shelter in their own
private sector away from the stresses and burdens of society. The storm drains were not really popular
when I was there, or maybe I just didn t know about them, moreover, the news articles try to make it
seem like this is the main place where all the homeless people come to congregate and live, which is
not true. I assume these news outlets want to portray the image that the homeless live so far from the
casinos and tourist areas that they cannot be seen or heard. When, in reality, they are a subculture that
is definitely a part of the city. I believe that since homelessness in Las Vegas have become a hot topic
as of date, the city and media outlets want to make potential visitors feel comfortable by alluding to
the fact that homelessness is out of sight out of mind. The reality is that homelessness is everywhere.
They are regular people who are fully integrated in society. They visit casinos and restaurants, ride
public transportation, and sometimes hang out on the Strip selling things.

The Argument For The Natural World
According to Aquinas arguments, the natural world includes everything that is in existence. This
includes ideologies such as motion, God, gravity, solar radiation, and our physical environment as
whole. The natural world is not only made up of things that our senses can detect, such as touch and
smell, but is also includes things such as God and gravity which are unattainable through the senses.
According to Immanuel Kant, the sensible world includes anything that can become known to
humans. The sensible world includes things such as time and space. By reviewing the definition of the
sensible world, the plausibility of the argument for the natural world is effected positively. Due to the
fact that the natural world consists of things that the human senses can detect, along with anything that
is within the world, this argument goes hand in hand with the ideology of the sensible world. In
correlation with Aquinas s third argument, something cannot exist being necessary and noneternal
because in order for a being to be necessary it must be eternal. This is due to the fact that in Aquinas
argument, a necessary being is eternal because nothing else brings it into existence. In order to better
understand an example of an object that would exists at some point in each possible world, but not at
all times within the actual world, it is crucial to understand the definition of each term. Elliot Sober

Presented in a light hearted manner, romantic comedies consist of two individuals who overcome
obstacles together, resulting in self improving in one, or both, of the individuals. In many romantic
comedies, these obstacles are presented as social issues such as gender, class, sex, etc. Throughout the
journey to love, these problems are addressed within the individuals, and in return, they are able to fall
in love. A lot of the time, these individuals are only granted the ability to fall in love if the issues that
they possess are solved, or improved upon. With that being said, in romantic comedies, love seems to
present itself either as a solution to social problem, or a reward for fixing the problem.

which is evidenced by her believing that a public bus will wait for her, and her confusion gives Peter

The Consequences Of Civil Disobedience
The meaning of civil disobedience has been disoriented throughout the years. Unfortunately, civil
disobedience is often confused with simply violating laws that you do not like (docsoffredom.org). On
the other hand, true civil disobedience lies in violating inequitable laws, but accepting the
consequences that come with it. Peaceful resistance can positively impact a free society and bring
about reform people desire, but only in the form of true civil disobedience. For example, the Civil
Rights Movement won desegregation for many African Americans. Furthermore, Mahatma Gandhi
and his non violent acts of civil disobedience helped to ensure India s independence from Britain.

of true civil disobedience are the protests against the Dakota pipeline, which had a small taste of

Pros And Cons Of The Real Monster In Frankenstein
The Real Monster Who is the real monster, Victor, or the creature he creates? Both Victor and the
creature have their pros and cons. Yes, Victor created the creature but he had good intentions. And yes,
the creature murdered many innocent people, but he also just wanted to be accepted and was tired of
being an outcast. In my own opinion I believe that the creature is the true monster. In the beginning of
the novel when the creature is first created he goes berserk because everything is new to him and he
does not know where he is or what he is doing. He flees from Victor and goes deep into the woods
where he learns about fire and additional nature stuff. He keeps wandering until he comes upon a
village where he goes to accomodate with people.

The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan
In the movie, The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, Joker, the immoral character, tries to create a
state of dilemma in people s point of view. This movie was aired in 2008, and it is known for its action
and adventure genre. Joker tries to evoke the citizens of Gotham by putting them in dangerous terrorist
attacks, in order to confuse them about the order verses disorders of the society. This essay will
explore ideas such as good verses evil, socially accepted moralities.
The film opens with a group of thugs wearing clown masks rubbing a bank. However, during the job
each member begins to kill one another one by one, the remaining rubber reveals himself to be the
joker, a crazy super villain, who escapes from the bank in a school bus. The district attorney of
Gotham, Hervey Dent, is leading a campaign against organized crime and it is heralded by the citizens
of the Gotham. Then, he begins to investigate other banks that are suspected of having mob ties.
Several mob leaders hold a conference which is interrupted by the joker. The joker offers to kill the
Batman in exchange for half of a large amount of money that was stolen from mob bosses by the
Chinese man named Lau. After the joker shows a feet of his strangeness and his strength they hired the
Joker. That means he needs to find Lau and brings him back to the city of Gotham to testify against
the mob. Dent is able to put five hundred and forty nine criminals in custody under the Rico law. In

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis
Avila, Bryan
Lang and Lit Year 2

Written Task 2
Title of the text for analysis: A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams. 2004.
Part of the course to which the task refers: Part 4 Literature, a Critical Study
Prescribed Question: How and why is a social group represented in a particular way?
My critical response will:
● Show how the males are portrayed in the text
● Show how Stanley is the alpha male and what his role is
● Show how Mitch is the omega male and what his role is
In A Streetcar Named Desire, men are the social groups represented with these roles alpha, beta,
omega. Males are portrayed as a big part in Tennessee s book, which shows the respect and rights they
hold. The men are shown this way to give off their looks and personality. The way things are set up in
the book shows the understanding of each male characters and where they stand.
The top dog Stanley is the alpha, Pablo and Steve are betas and Mitch is the omega. For example,in
the book the author writes, Stanley doesn t give me a regular allowance; he likes to pay bills himself.
(pg 78) . Making it seemed as if Stanley is the man and has it all under control . The author wants the
audience to know that Stanley has the money so he is the one in charge and what he want has to be
done, and done his way. But on the other hand the author introduces Mitch as a very soft, awkward
man that is a mamas boy .The book quotes, Hurry back and we ll fix you a sugar tit. (pg 48). The
quote refers that Mitch is as a man who can t do anything on his own and he still is a baby and lives
off his mom and has her do things for him. Tennessee used different reference to show how the men
are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are always the first or leaders in the group. While
betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more
anti and careless of what others care, they don t care what others think. Steve and Pablo are kind and
they try to not interfere in much of what goes on which are characteristics of a beta. Stanley is forced,
pinioned by the two men, into the bedroom. (pg 63).
In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stanley is to be seen and known as to the most dominant

Zoot Suit
The definition of escape is, to slip away from or elude ( Escape ). This concept is shown in the play
Zoot Suit through Henry Reyna s relationship with his identity as the pachuco leader of the 38th Street
Gang. Because of the harassment that has been aimed at him during his life, Henry Reyna does not
want the rest of his family to endure the unjust treatment that the police and other white Americans
aim at pachucos. In the play, Zoot Suit, Henry Reyna and his gang are accused for murder. The murder
trial was biased against Henry s gang and they remained in prison until they got an appeal.
Throughout the play, Henry and his gang are mistreated and harassed, by police, lawyers, judges, and
soldiers, simply because they are pachucos (Valdez). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example is during the dance, when Henry and Rafas, a member of the Downey Gang, get into a
fight, Henry eventually gains the upper hand and Rafas is at his mercy, however, instead of harming
him, Henry just tells him to leave. Then, Bertha, Henry s old girlfriend says The old Hank would have
slit Rafas belly like a fat pig. (Valdez 47). This shows that Henry used to be much more ruthless than
he was in the play. This is because he realizes that any violence that he does, no matter how small, will
come up again, and could stop him from joining the military or from getting a decent job after the war.
Because he realized this, he began to think about what effect his actions may have on his future.
Another example is when Henry decided to back out of the appeal (Valdez 70). Instead of fighting the
racist and corrupt justice system that put him in jail, Henry thought that, by accepting the punishment,
he would be viewed as more American, and perhaps he would get out of jail early for good behavior.
When Henry decided that he was going to join the navy he was thinking about his future as well. In
the play Henry says, I was all set to come back a hero, see? Me la rayo. For the first time in my life I
really thought Hank Reyna was going someplace. (Valdez 30). Henry knew that the only way he could
gain respect from the police and the white Americans was by

Death Of The Victorian Era Essay
Throughout the world, death plays a fundamental role, it is unavoidable and everyone will experience
it at some point in their lives. In contemporary western societies, death is accepted as such, and is
organised for, with people years before their death preparing wills and funerals for when their day
finally comes. However, for many, death still comes as a surprise, and most will always try and do
anything to prolong their lives and grasp at immortality. Yet this wasn t always the case, during the
Victorian era, whilst people still mourned and grieved, death was an accepted part of life. From the
Victorian era to now, death has both changed and stayed the same in many different ways, from the
way in which people die, to organising their death, and to the role medicine plays. The quest for
immortality has been around for hundreds of years, but in recent years, it has become less of a folktale
involving monsters, and instead is becoming far more believable. Whilst immortality will likely not be
seen for many generations, if ever, the idea has taken hold that science and modern medicine can
prolong life, and death no longer has to be an unavoidable point.
Preliminary Argument
Due to advancements in science and modern medicine, as well as the taboo on death and the rise of
the quest for immortality, people are becoming far less prepared mentally for death, and no longer
accept death as fact.

How Did The Scottsboro Trial Impact America
The Scottsboro trial impacted America as a whole. The nine men being convicted of rape did not have
a fair trial. During the 1930s, America was in a time of very serious segregation. If a black man
supposedly slept with a Southern white women they would be lynched. A specific example of this
would be when the Scottsboro boys were going to jail, a crowd of over 100 people tried to lynch them
(Douglas O. Linder). In the time period, America had many race riots, so this incident would not be
surprising. The Black men were trailed in separate cases (Linder). They were found guilty, an obvious
verdict because of their ethnicity. The southerners believed that Blacks were criminals and should be

The Development of Christianity in America
As Christianity spread through the Western world, it rarely followed a linear path: different pockets of
faith and doctrine were developed by a variety of peoples in an even greater variety of locales.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Roman Britain and the era of Anglo Saxon migrations. In five
centuries, English religious culture transformed from one of pagan worship to that of leadership in the
Christian world. Controversies included more than merely pagan Christian dynamics; the Christians
were greatly divided, and Christian efforts went through many ebbs before becoming firmly
established. One must evaluate the development of both Rome and England to gain an adequate
understanding of early English Christianity. Fifty five years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Christianity gained a foothold in Britain by the mid second century, but had yet to gain anything
approaching religious supremacy on the island. Early Christian churches were local communal affairs
each board of elders was elected democratically by the community s inhabitants. Early Christians
refused to bow before Roman authority as the Jews had previously done, and many were persecuted as
enemies of the state (quite similar to the Druidic situation in Britain). Rome would tolerate native
religious rites, but would brook no treason. The universality of the empire, however, paved the way
for the universality of Christianity, as Christian missionaries traveled easily along Roman roads on
evangelistic expeditions. As Christianity spread throughout the empire, the Roman government found
Christian refusals to worship Roman gods and participate in Roman festivals increasingly distressing;
Christians endured persecution in the first and second centuries, but on an individualized, local scale.
The third century proved disastrous to the empire: an outbreak of the plague, increasing barbaric
invasions from the north, and fifty years of relentless civil war tarnished the image and reputation of
Rome. Manpower shortages due to plague sharply decreased trade and commerce. Persians

The movie Rain man I´m going to refer to was produced in the year 1988 by Barry Levinson. The
main actors are Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. Tom Cruise is playing a character called Charlie

the movie lives together with his girlfriend Susanna in Carlifornia.
Dustin Hoffman is acting Charlies autistic older brother Raymond. Because he is autistic, he lives in a

The film starts with Charlie getting a call, telling him that his rich father died. Charlie did had any

The Drinking Age Should Not Be Lowered
Most people would concur that alcohol should not be given to teenagers. Despite the fact that we
concede to this essential truth, underage drinking is still a noteworthy issue in our nation. Since
adolescents need development and information with regards to liquor, they put themselves, as well as
others in incredible danger when they decide to consume. Regardless of the risk, there are individuals
out there who believe that the drinking age should be lowered. However, their argument is weak, and
when taken into consideration, I still firmly believe that the drinking age should not be lowered.
Underage drinking can prompt an extensive assortment of issues including health problems, addiction,
sexual assault, drunk driving accidents, and death. Granting all this, the legal drinking age has been
lowered and raised again. Underage drinking should not be allowed in this country. The risks are far
too great and the pros are way too few. Young people have been attracted to alcohol since the early

In the early 20th century, more and more issues began to face cities of the United States. Specific
issues that cities began facing more and more included the rise in poor sanitation and health concerns
in local tenement housing. In order for women to gain access to the public sphere and emerge out of

By starting the tenement houses in Chicago through the Hull Houses, Jane Addams and Ellen Starr
had already begun their journey into the public sphere. Through opening the tenement houses and
allowing people to see them and come live in them helped the two women make a name for
themselves, with the more well known woman of the pair being recognized for much more, was Jane
Addams herself. Addams saw rights and freedom for women as a perfectly possible thing to attain, as
she was optimistic and very assertive on her way to work for women s equality and rights. The
optimism that Jane Addams had was not without a price to pay on her part, as there were many
negatives that had to be dealt with along the way like setbacks in acting, legislation, supporters, etc.7
These settlement housing complexes, along with other emerging municipally supported housing and

Enterprise Analysis and Making a Business Case
Overview/Description
Enterprise analysis is a key knowledge area in the practice of business analysis. During enterprise
analysis, the business analyst identifies business opportunities, builds a business architecture
framework, and determines the best project investment path for the enterprise. From this, the business
analyst puts forward a business case, which provides an overall justification for the project. In this
course, learners will examine the collection of preproject or early project activities and approaches for

When performing strategic goal setting, the business analyst needs a framework for organizing goals.
Strategic goal setting activities include categorizing each goal as being one of four types:
Identifying customer goals helps you deal with how the customer views your company, and these
goals are usually measured in terms of customer satisfaction.
Financial goals are often ranked highest, and are the dollar oriented and accounting outcomes the
company hopes to achieve.
Identifying goals relating to internal processes helps you compare your company s performance to
industry standards. This helps to determine in which areas the company must excel.
Innovation and improvement goals relate to product development, learning and skill development, and
the application of technology. They help you determine how your company can continue to improve
and create value.
Enterprise Analysis
Enterprise analysis is the evaluation of how proposed initiatives will be made across an entire
organization. It is vital for gaining an understanding of the potential business implications and risks to
the business. With this understanding, the business analyst can make clearer, more consistent decisions
for an enterprise.
During enterprise analysis, the business analyst collaborates with business unit managers, project

Triumphal Arch Of Pompey The Great
Triumphal Arch of Pompey the Great Around 50 BCE three influential military and political leaders
rose to power through an unofficial alliance. Through their alliance they forever changed how the
Roman Republic and Senate were run, and the history of Rome. The first triumvirate included Julius
Caesar, Pompeius Magnus, and Licinius Crassus. Pompey and Crassus were both very influential
military and political leaders, having both served as consuls and roman generals. Together they allied
with Caesar to move him up into consul status, as well as using his power to help push forward their
political ideas and principles. Crassus and Pompey, who originally were enemies, continued to
compete with one another trying to take over the triumvirate and be the sole roman consul. Eventually,
with the event of several key deaths, the triumvirate fell apart. It soon became evident that only one
person could rule, and the idea of three co rulers had failed. Shortly after, Pompey and Caesar split up
their alliance after the Roman Senate and the population of Rome had different ideas about who
should be the sole consul. The two consuls competed for leadership of the Roman state, which
eventually lead to a civil war. Had Pompey won the civil war, Rome would have been forever changed
with Pompey as leader.

Demand For A Product Or Service Essay
Demand for a product or service can be defined as the amount of a particular economic good or
service that a consumer or group of consumers will want to purchase at a given price over a specific
period of time. The demand is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as
the price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by different factors other than price,
such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be
completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price (in the case of the tobacco industry)
(Beardshaw, 1991).
According to Philp, Dan and Galt (2009) it could be deduced that demand relative to the tobacco
industry is caused by a number of aspects in which the key driver is the price of the cigarettes.
Newport menthol 100s average price for a pack is $4.70 and a carton cost around $42.00. This price is
relative to it s competitor Marlboro menthol red cigarettes, which is the number one cigarette of all
time. Marlboro menthol red average price for a pack is $4.91 and a carton cost around $44.00. The
price of Newports is set because it s a brand loyalty product. For example, in the clothes market,
individuals would think of what Calvin Klein s would cost. If Parada sell 30% cheaper, then they
would consider paying a much lower price.
Cigarette valuing has long been a champion amongst the most fundamental advancing frameworks

Technological Developments in the Package Delivery Industry
Running head: TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN THE PACKAGE DELIVERY

Technological Developments Moving eight miles a minute for most of the time , while these are lyrics
to a song by Bob Seger, these words could describe a package s experience being shipped by one of
today s leading package delivery companies. How these companies have used technology to improve
their services and how they may expand the use of technology to increase productivity and reduce
costs is the focus of this paper.

While not every web tracking request would have resulted in a customer service call, the call volume
and associated costs have been decreased by 80% (Hayter, 2002).
FedEx
The second package delivery company identified is FedEx. This company originated in 1971 as
Federal Express Corp., a small delivery firm with a fleet of 14 small aircraft located in Memphis,
Tennessee. This company quickly grew and in 1994 adopted FedEx as its primary brand. Originally
called FDX Corp., FedEx Corp. was formed in January 1998 with the acquisition of Caliber System
Inc. (FedEx, 2005). From the first day a customer used overnight delivery, FedEx has been at the
leading edge of change.
We ve pioneered packaging and systems technologies and trade routes. We ve enabled new ways of
working and new business models. We ve closed the gap between virtual and physical worlds. All for
one reason – to give people access to the goods, information and markets that make their growing
expectations possible (FedEx).
This type of innovation has made FedEx a leader in the package delivery industry. One of the best
practices used by FedEx is the use of electronic tools. The company offers a wide range of electronic
tools, online interfaces, and applications that a customer can use to make shipping packages easier. By
integrating these tools, customers reduce inventory costs and

Gonzales Vs Carhart Summary
Gonzales v. Carhart was a supreme court case that was arguing on whether there should be partial
birth abortion. I do not agree with abortion anyway, let alone partial birth. The two main people
involved in the case, were Alberto R. Gonzales and Leroy Carhart. Gonzales was the petitioner who
brought the case to the court and Carhart was the respondent. Gonzales wanted to overturn the Partial
Birth Abortion Act, which was basically an act saying partial birth abortion is not allowed. Gonzales
proposed a ruling of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in favor of LeRoy
Carhart that was attempting to tackle the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act. On the other side was
Carhart, who was against partial birth abortion and wanted the act to stand. Carharts perspective in my
opinion is the right one. I do understand that there are, some cases that abortion might be necessary
and that might protect someone s own health. If it is protecting the mother s health and it is the last
choice the mother has then I will support her decision. But for the most part it is just teen getting
pregnant from unprotected sex then not being able to care for the child. In the USA alone there are 2
million couples waiting to adopt. In 2011 1.06 million abortions took place. In just two years we could
give children to all of the couples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Honor In Henry IV, Part I – Falstaff vs. Hotspur
According to F. Scott Fitzgerald, The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing
ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. Indeed, very few people have this
quality, the playwright William Shakespeare being one of them. In many of his plays, Henry IV, Part
One among them, Shakespeare juxtaposes different worldviews, ideologies, and even environments.
His characters usually provide a clear example of a split among them in one of many perspectives.
One of his characters in Henry IV —Falstaff—is first seen as an endearing, uproariously funny
scoundrel and later reveals himself more of a lowlife with his view of honor—he seems ... Show more

He says I like not such grinning honor as Sir Walter hath: give me life, which if I can save, so; if not,
honor comes unlocked for, and there s an end. (V, iii) Thus, honor is, as Falstaff says, nothing more
than a word, for it expresses a concept, which can be conveniently twisted to support whatever side of
any battle that one is on.
Hotspur, on the other hand, is always seen as honorable even though he has caused this whole war;
there is no way, therefore, for anyone to correctly say what brings honor and what dishonors. The
second time the word honor appears in the play, it is on the lips of Hotspur, who is damning the King
and urging his father and Worcester to redeem / [their] banish d honors and [to] restore [them]selves...
(I, iii). The reader can easily see Shakespeare s notion that the concept of honor and its embodiment
seldom come together in the reality of a single person—certainly the way that Hotspur wants his father
and uncle to redeem themselves (by dethroning the king) is not very honorable, yet his honor is from
battles won in the king s name. So despite his treasonous thoughts, his honor from battle remains with
him for the rest of his life, as even the prince calls him valiant. (V, i) Both Hotspur and the King
believed in the undegenerate chivalric conception of honor, which was a lofty one. Under it, trial by
battle, and war, became religious affairs. Hotspur also talks of honor as a symbol for a trophy of
victory: he

The Pros And Cons Of Islam
Nowadays, citizens often hear about the troubles Islamist radicals bring to countries, especially in the
U.S. and Europe. It is known that people have several opinions on this particular religion, but the real
question to be asked is whether Islam is really a religion of violence or peace. There are many Islamist
groups Isis and al Quaida for example that are responsible for acts of terrorism. For instance, the
bombing of the twin towers in 2001 in New York, the London terrorist bombings that killed 52
innocent lives, the many bombings and attacks in Paris, etc. Personally, I think Islam is neither a
religion of peace nor violence. Islam is not revolving around the idea of violence, but they don t
necessarily act in a tranquil manner. Moreover, Islam is not just a religion to its followers, it is more
an ideology whereas its followers live for their religion; I think this is why some go to such extreme
measures.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a woman born in Somali as a Muslim. She is now a Dutch American activist,
feminist, author, scholar, and former Dutch politician. She has known the religion of Islam through the
inside and outside perspective. Hirsi Ali stated A reform of Islam is necessary and possible. She
believes that there definitely needs to be change in the religion of Islam. I agree with this statement
because there is a definite need for change, although I am concerned that it might not be possible. Due
to the many followers of Islamist ways along with

Malcolm X Pilgrimage To America
On April 13, 1964, Malcolm X left America for the holy Pilgrimage in Mecca, a pilgrimage that must
be made by every able bodied Muslim. He landed in the Jeddah airport and noticed, Throngs of
people, obviously Muslims from everywhere, bound for the pilgrimage... were hugging and embracing
He had noticed the multitude of complexions and the masses of different people coming together with
no racial or social prejudice. He compared his spiritual effect as if had just came out of prison. The
overwhelming sense of brotherhood he felt was unparalleled to anything he saw in America. As he
entered he abandoned his spiffy black suit for the white ihram (a two piece dress for men that covered
the top and bottom and one long piece for women). The ihram would be worn by all pilgrims and

the equality of men before God. This pilgrimage to Mecca was Malcolm s turning point in his, life,

During the last few years of his life he preached for equality between the races and people of America.
After pilgrimage, he had hoped for a peaceful solution to America s race problems. He wanted for the
unification of the whites and blacks in America a harmonious sync. Though his blatant outright
criticism of Jim Crow laws diminished, his message behind it flourished into life. He called for a
united America in the union and collaboration of all races and people who believed in equality for all.
He left the teachings and ideals of Muhammad Elijah who was head of the Nation of Islam and
thought that the white man was a devil . A message that Malcom X used to believe wholeheartedly
was now something he despised and preached against. His spirit of black nationalism stopped during
this period and he inspired the people to come together as

message that everyone should be treated equal no matter race or gender. 6. Did the documentary leave

A Few Good Men
A Few Good Men is a 1992 American drama film directed by Rob Reiner and starring Tom Cruise,
Jack Nicholson, and Demi Moore. It was adapted for the screen by Aaron Sorkin from his play of the
same name. A courtroom drama, the film revolves around the court martial of two U.S.
Marinescharged with the murder of a fellow Marine and the tribulations of their lawyer as he prepares
a case to defend his clients.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Daniel Danny Kaffee (Tom Cruise) is an inexperienced U.S. Navy Judge
Advocate General s Corps lawyer who leads the defense in the court martial of two U.S. Marines,
Private First Class Louden Downey (James Marshall) and Lance Corporal Harold Dawson (Wolfgang
Bodison), who are accused of having murdered a fellow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the course of the trial, it is established that code reds are standard in Guantanamo Bay as a means of
enforcing discipline and getting sloppy Marines to follow procedure. Kaffee especially goes after
Kendrick, particularly over the fact that he denied Dawson a promotion after the latter helped out a
fellow Marine who was under what could be seen as a code red.
Lieutenant Colonel Markinson has gone absent without leave since the incident, but he resurfaces in
Kaffee s car during the trial, revealing that Jessep never intended to transfer Santiago off the base as
previously claimed but created the transfer orders as part of a cover up long after Santiago s death.
Kaffee is unable to find evidence corroborating these claims and announces his intention to have
Markinson testify. Rather than publicly dishonor himself and the Marine Corps, Markinson sends a
letter to Santiago s parents, blaming his own weakness for the loss of their son, outfits himself in full
Dress Blue A uniform and commits suicide by shooting himself in the mouth with his service pistol.
Without Markinson s crucial testimony, Kaffee believes that the case is lost and returns home after a
drunken stupor, having come to regret that he fought the case instead of considering the plea bargain.
Galloway, however, convinces Kaffee to take the great risk of calling Colonel Jessep as a

described him as a classic throwback to the sound of traditional country. Sammy got his start in music
very early on. At the tender age of 11, Sammy began singing for income, after his father died. Sammy
found success right away, performing with Louisiana legend J.B. Pere. He opened for many acts,
including Ray Price, Merle Haggard and George Jones. He released his first studio album in 1991,
Don t Go Near The Water, which was certified platinum. Since then, he s enjoyed massive success,
releasing nine other studio albums, with more than 25 singles entering the top 40 on the Billboard Hot
Country Songs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the ever evolving sounds of the country music, he wondered at one point, if there was still a
place for his purist sound in the industry. One day, while listening to some music, he became

and we ll give our life. He knew instantly that he had to make a comeback, and couldn t let the music

Hwang decided to only date the non Korean men which she knew she could quot;stay clearheaded about so she could fulfill her parent s wishes and bear children that looked Korean. In the essay Your Place is Empty quot; by Anne Tyler the decision to marry within cultural boundaries was not made. Mrs. Ardavi had to used a special rack which she ran under water in the shower (because Elizabeth assembled it) to do her laundry. Hilary is another matter altogether. Hilary is only three years old and doesn t understand why her grandmother acts so differently. At most times she doesn t even seem to care. Though she is not Muslim or full blooded Iranian Mrs. Ardavi still had no problem treating Hilary as if she was Iranian and a part of the family. Hilary seemed to be the largest commonality between the women. The scene in which Hilary seemed to bring the women closer the most is when Mrs. Ardavi first arrives and asks to see her. The smells of milk and rubber, and talcum powder, smells she would know anywhere. Even in the half light from the hallway, she could tell that Hilary was beautiful. She had black, tumbling hair, long black lashes, and a skin of a tone they called wheat colored, lighter than Hassan s. In this part Mrs. Ardavi shows that Hilary is not part of any real category yet, not Christian or Muslim so she may be considered an innocent still. The issue of Hilary s status as being clean or unclean is just not discussed. Hilary was also the main subject of some of the disagreements between Elizabeth and Mrs. Ardavi. The methods of child rearing that Elizabeth used on Hilary were at times quite different from those which Mrs. Ardavi had at one point used on her own sons or sometimes suggested. ... • 5. Philanthropy In Sports Professional sports in which athletes receive compensation for their athletic talent and abilities, is often only associated with the entertainment industry. One can watch a sporting event on TV or pay to go to the arena or stadium to watch the competition live. Outside of watching and participating in a sport, professional leagues are businesses, concerned about making a profit from their fan base. It is seldom that one would associate a professional athletic club with philanthropy. According to Webster s College Dictionary, the definition of philanthropy is an altruistic concern for human beings especially as manifested by donations of money, property, or work to needy persons or to institutions advancing human welfare (Webster s). In a business concerned with its bottom line, donating money for a humanitarian cause would seem like a seldom seem practice. The Social Marketing Aspects Of Twitter Research Project 1: Comparing Brand Project This literature review will mainly discuss some literatures that address on the social marketing aspects of Twitter. With the growing accessibility of the internet, social media does not only change the dynamics of sustaining human relationships (O Brien, 2011), but enables consumers to establish a social community within a brand. Businesses center their marketing strategy on social media branding because active engagement implies the domino effects following the robust electronic word of mouth (eWOM). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Expanding beyond microblogs, the ease and openness of messages have made Twitter the best alternative to reporting and accessing emergencies news such as earthquakes and political movements (Muralidharan et al., 2011). More importantly, Jansen, Zhang, Sobel and Chowdhury (2009) reported that approximately one quarter of the tweets touches on brands, among which users seek to provide information or express opinions about the brand. Consistently, Zhang, Jansen Chowdhury (2011) indicated that Twitter provides a rich plethora of resources for companies to grasps consumers taste, trends and promote campaigns through engaging in the eWOM communication process. As shown, social media platforms become an essential channel for brands to gather audiences and heighten brand awareness, but no studies have analysed the well established Twitter community of big brands as a good reference. It is worthy examining how the biggest brands such as McDonalds and KFC manipulate their tweets on Twitter and uncover the type of messages that both food giants deliver. There has been a mixture of views among researchers regarding the success measurements of social marketing (Baumgartner, 2014). The importance of maximising tweets in social branding is emphasized in Keller (2007) s study. Regardless of the nature of the tweet material, Keller argues that the more frequent a brand tweets, the more probably it will attend to specific customers. While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Greek Creature In Dante s Inferno In Dante s epic poem Inferno, he uses many interesting character and creatures from many iconic stories we have read or heard about. He repeats and takes a lot of ideas from Greek culture, which very clever because as reader we are familiarized with Greek Mythologies. Greek mythologies are based on very unusual and unique creatures, which are very interesting, and he uses these creatures in his journey and showcases their importance in each situation. The creature I found interesting and attractive is Cerberus, not because the way Dante describes the creature. I saw this creature in a movie called Percy Jackson: The Light Thief, Percy goes to the underworld to save his mother from Hades. When Percy reaches to Hades home, his home is guarded with Cerberus, which was a three headed creature, looked very vicious, and violent. When I read about this creature in Dante s Inferno it brought back that image I saw in the movie, very scary looking beast that is about to kill. Although it looked scary, I found it fascinating because there were three heads jointed together with long teeth like vampires, each with different features. This is why I picked this creature, due to my fascination with the Percy Jackson series. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gs1140 Unit 1 Research Paper 1 Unit 1 Research Paper 1: Paradigm Shift Introduction In the past, virtual reality technology was thought of by many as a gimmick, and the hope for it to become a mainstream technology was discarded as products did not work as how the public envisioned. However, the proper technology is now available to make virtual reality just that: a reality. The entertainment industry is on the verge of a monumental paradigm shift that will completely transform the way these entertainment mediums are experienced. The typical experience of video games is one with a controller with joysticks that are used to control where the playable character is looking along with a monitor or television screen in front of the player. Today, this scenario is so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An incredible use outside of video games is military simulation training using these same technologies. Virtual Battlespace is a simulation program developed by Bohemia Interactive Simulations and is used by the US Army and U.S. Marine Corps as well as other armed forces across the globe, such as the UK Army, the French Air Force, and the Royal Navy. Conclusions Although this specific program will likely not become available to average consumers, the same foundations for the simulation will be available on the marketplace while being affordable at the same time. In time, applied use of virtual reality such as the Oculus Rift will become mainstream and accepted in everyday life not only due its entertainment value, but also due to its affordability for consumers everywhere. Thoughts of virtual reality often resemble fantastical scenarios reminiscent of scenes in movies with similar themes like Gamer, The Matrix, Total Recall, and Inception. After one delves into the VR technology in products such as the Oculus Rift, one will begin to believe, and he or she will brace themselves for the tidal wave that is the paradigm shift of virtual reality. Conflict cannot be avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community handles conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and change are a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be the voice that highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the conversation and what each person has at stake in the decision making. The country rock was identified in the field to be a Meta Limestone, but a more in depth chemical analysis done by others classifies it as a dolostone of the Strath Suardal formation from the Durness group. This study classifies the two granites under one unit named the Kilbride Granite, however, the research, which uses both radiometric dating and composition analysis, identifies them as two compositionally separate units with different ages. On the other hand, it is not wrong to say that the granites were related as they are the two latest forming members of the Eastern Red Hills complex. (Bell and Harris, 1986) The extent of the granites and their contacts with others are often heavily inferred. This was most often due to poor exposure. Usually the granite contacts were inferred from topographical changes instead of visible changes in rock type. Features such as clefts, also noticed by Raybould (1973), tree lines and waterfalls (due to the relatively poor permeability and greater hardness of the granite in comparison to the Meta Limestone), were all used to map the Beinn an Dubhaich granite. • 14. The Importance Of Flight In Song Of Solomon In the novel Song of Solomon, a central motif of flight was dominant throughout the entire book. Song of Solomon starts off the first scene of the book with a man surrounded by an audience who are watching him decide whether or not he is going to jump off the roof of a building. The man that was on top of the building was Robert Smith. It is never said in the book, but it can be assumed that Robert Smith was one of the Seven Days men. The Seven Days is a group of black men who respond to a person of color getting killed by a white person by taking seven days to kill one white person for every person of color that is killed. Smith s attempt to jump off of the building seemed like he actually believed that he could physically fly, even though he ended up just falling to his death. The theme of flight was mentioned countless times throughout the rest of the novel, and even in the last scene of the novel, when Milkman takes flight for the first and last time, multiple physical references to flight are mentioned. The central idea of flight is what the book centers around and flight helps create a journey that is full of personal growth and reflection for the main character Milkman. The countless references about flight, and a link between self acceptance and naming in the book create the build up that leads to Milkman s flight at the end of the book. During the first scene of Song of Solomon, Robert Smith is surrounded by a crowd that is described as half sniggered and half filled with apprehension watching him before he attempts to jump off of the roof (Morrison 6). Throughout the entire first scene of the book, flight or things related to it, are mentioned countless amounts of times, including describing the man as a man flapping his wings and a little bird ll be here in the morning (Morrison 9). It even talked about Mr. Smith saying that he had blue silk wings (Morrison 9). As the crowd is waiting, a woman starts to sing a song about flight. The storm drains were not really popular when I was there, or maybe I just didn t know about them, moreover, the news articles try to make it seem like this is the main place where all the homeless people come to congregate and live, which is not true. I assume these news outlets want to portray the image that the homeless live so far from the casinos and tourist areas that they cannot be seen or heard. When, in reality, they are a subculture that is definitely a part of the city. I believe that since homelessness in Las Vegas have become a hot topic as of date, the city and media outlets want to make potential visitors feel comfortable by alluding to the fact that homelessness is out of sight out of mind. The reality is that homelessness is everywhere. They are regular people who are fully integrated in society. They visit casinos and restaurants, ride public transportation, and sometimes hang out on the Strip selling things. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Argument For The Natural World According to Aquinas arguments, the natural world includes everything that is in existence. This includes ideologies such as motion, God, gravity, solar radiation, and our physical environment as whole. The natural world is not only made up of things that our senses can detect, such as touch and smell, but is also includes things such as God and gravity which are unattainable through the senses. According to Immanuel Kant, the sensible world includes anything that can become known to humans. The sensible world includes things such as time and space. By reviewing the definition of the sensible world, the plausibility of the argument for the natural world is effected positively. Due to the fact that the natural world consists of things that the human senses can detect, along with anything that is within the world, this argument goes hand in hand with the ideology of the sensible world. In correlation with Aquinas s third argument, something cannot exist being necessary and noneternal because in order for a being to be necessary it must be eternal. This is due to the fact that in Aquinas argument, a necessary being is eternal because nothing else brings it into existence. In order to better understand an example of an object that would exists at some point in each possible world, but not at all times within the actual world, it is crucial to understand the definition of each term. Peaceful resistance can positively impact a free society and bring about reform people desire, but only in the form of true civil disobedience. Part of the course to which the task refers: Part 4 Literature, a Critical Study Prescribed Question: How and why is a social group represented in a particular way? My critical response will: ● Show how the males are portrayed in the text ● Show how Stanley is the alpha male and what his role is ● Show how Mitch is the omega male and what his role is In A Streetcar Named Desire, men are the social groups represented with these roles alpha, beta, omega. Males are portrayed as a big part in Tennessee s book, which shows the respect and rights they hold. The men are shown this way to give off their looks and personality. The way things are set up in the book shows the understanding of each male characters and where they stand. The top dog Stanley is the alpha, Pablo and Steve are betas and Mitch is the omega. For example,in the book the author writes, Stanley doesn t give me a regular allowance; he likes to pay bills himself. (pg 78) . Making it seemed as if Stanley is the man and has it all under control . The author wants the audience to know that Stanley has the money so he is the one in charge and what he want has to be done, and done his way. But on the other hand the author introduces Mitch as a very soft, awkward man that is a mamas boy .The book quotes, Hurry back and we ll fix you a sugar tit. (pg 48). The quote refers that Mitch is as a man who can t do anything on his own and he still is a baby and lives off his mom and has her do things for him. Tennessee used different reference to show how the men are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are always the first or leaders in the group. While betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more anti and careless of what others care, they don t care what others think. Steve and Pablo are kind and they try to not interfere in much of what goes on which are characteristics of a beta. Stanley is forced, pinioned by the two men, into the bedroom. (pg 63). • 24. Death Of The Victorian Era Essay Throughout the world, death plays a fundamental role, it is unavoidable and everyone will experience it at some point in their lives. In contemporary western societies, death is accepted as such, and is organised for, with people years before their death preparing wills and funerals for when their day finally comes. However, for many, death still comes as a surprise, and most will always try and do anything to prolong their lives and grasp at immortality. Yet this wasn t always the case, during the Victorian era, whilst people still mourned and grieved, death was an accepted part of life. From the Victorian era to now, death has both changed and stayed the same in many different ways, from the way in which people die, to organising their death, and to the role medicine plays. The quest for immortality has been around for hundreds of years, but in recent years, it has become less of a folktale involving monsters, and instead is becoming far more believable. Whilst immortality will likely not be seen for many generations, if ever, the idea has taken hold that science and modern medicine can prolong life, and death no longer has to be an unavoidable point. Preliminary Argument Due to advancements in science and modern medicine, as well as the taboo on death and the rise of the quest for immortality, people are becoming far less prepared mentally for death, and no longer accept death as fact. The Development of Christianity in America As Christianity spread through the Western world, it rarely followed a linear path: different pockets of faith and doctrine were developed by a variety of peoples in an even greater variety of locales. Nowhere is this more evident than in Roman Britain and the era of Anglo Saxon migrations. In five centuries, English religious culture transformed from one of pagan worship to that of leadership in the Christian world. Controversies included more than merely pagan Christian dynamics; the Christians were greatly divided, and Christian efforts went through many ebbs before becoming firmly established. Rome would tolerate native religious rites, but would brook no treason. The universality of the empire, however, paved the way for the universality of Christianity, as Christian missionaries traveled easily along Roman roads on evangelistic expeditions. As Christianity spread throughout the empire, the Roman government found Christian refusals to worship Roman gods and participate in Roman festivals increasingly distressing; Christians endured persecution in the first and second centuries, but on an individualized, local scale. Through their alliance they forever changed how the Roman Republic and Senate were run, and the history of Rome. The first triumvirate included Julius Caesar, Pompeius Magnus, and Licinius Crassus. Pompey and Crassus were both very influential military and political leaders, having both served as consuls and roman generals. Demand For A Product Or Service Essay Demand for a product or service can be defined as the amount of a particular economic good or service that a consumer or group of consumers will want to purchase at a given price over a specific period of time. The demand is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as the price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by different factors other than price, such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price (in the case of the tobacco industry) (Beardshaw, 1991). • 42. Gonzales Vs Carhart Summary Gonzales v. Carhart was a supreme court case that was arguing on whether there should be partial birth abortion. I do not agree with abortion anyway, let alone partial birth. The two main people involved in the case, were Alberto R. Gonzales and Leroy Carhart. Gonzales was the petitioner who brought the case to the court and Carhart was the respondent. Gonzales wanted to overturn the Partial Birth Abortion Act, which was basically an act saying partial birth abortion is not allowed. Gonzales proposed a ruling of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in favor of LeRoy Carhart that was attempting to tackle the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act. On the other side was Carhart, who was against partial birth abortion and wanted the act to stand. Carharts perspective in my opinion is the right one. I do understand that there are, some cases that abortion might be necessary and that might protect someone s own health. If it is protecting the mother s health and it is the last choice the mother has then I will support her decision. But for the most part it is just teen getting pregnant from unprotected sex then not being able to care for the child. In the USA alone there are 2 million couples waiting to adopt. • 43. Honor in Henry Iv, Part I – Falstaff vs. Hotspur Honor In Henry IV, Part I – Falstaff vs. Hotspur According to F. Scott Fitzgerald, The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. Indeed, very few people have this quality, the playwright William Shakespeare being one of them. In many of his plays, Henry IV, Part One among them, Shakespeare juxtaposes different worldviews, ideologies, and even environments. His characters usually provide a clear example of a split among them in one of many perspectives. One of his characters in Henry IV —Falstaff—is first seen as an endearing, uproariously funny scoundrel and later reveals himself more of a lowlife with his view of honor—he seems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He says I like not such grinning honor as Sir Walter hath: give me life, which if I can save, so; if not, honor comes unlocked for, and there s an end. (V, iii) Thus, honor is, as Falstaff says, nothing more than a word, for it expresses a concept, which can be conveniently twisted to support whatever side of any battle that one is on. Hotspur, on the other hand, is always seen as honorable even though he has caused this whole war; there is no way, therefore, for anyone to correctly say what brings honor and what dishonors. The second time the word honor appears in the play, it is on the lips of Hotspur, who is damning the King and urging his father and Worcester to redeem / [their] banish d honors and [to] restore [them]selves... (I, iii). The reader can easily see Shakespeare s notion that the concept of honor and its embodiment seldom come together in the reality of a single person—certainly the way that Hotspur wants his father and uncle to redeem themselves (by dethroning the king) is not very honorable, yet his honor is from battles won in the king s name. So despite his treasonous thoughts, his honor from battle remains with him for the rest of his life, as even the prince calls him valiant. (V, i) Both Hotspur and the King believed in the undegenerate chivalric conception of honor, which was a lofty one. Under it, trial by battle, and war, became religious affairs. • 44. The Pros And Cons Of Islam Nowadays, citizens often hear about the troubles Islamist radicals bring to countries, especially in the U.S. and Europe. It is known that people have several opinions on this particular religion, but the real question to be asked is whether Islam is really a religion of violence or peace. There are many Islamist groups Isis and al Quaida for example that are responsible for acts of terrorism. For instance, the bombing of the twin towers in 2001 in New York, the London terrorist bombings that killed 52 innocent lives, the many bombings and attacks in Paris, etc. Personally, I think Islam is neither a religion of peace nor violence. Islam is not revolving around the idea of violence, but they don t necessarily act in a tranquil manner. Moreover, Islam is not just a religion to its followers, it is more an ideology whereas its followers live for their religion; I think this is why some go to such extreme measures. Ayaan Hirsi Ali Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a woman born in Somali as a Muslim. She is now a Dutch American activist, feminist, author, scholar, and former Dutch politician. She has known the religion of Islam through the inside and outside perspective. Hirsi Ali stated A reform of Islam is necessary and possible.
