Everything that happens has a cause and every cause has an effect. Effect strictly follows cause every
time.
This is an necessary logical tool for humans in understanding the world around them. Because humans
understand the concept of time it means that they can then understand that some things always happen
after other things. Spotting these patterns allows them to then deliberately cause certain effects by
mimicking or instigating the cause they had previously observed.
If effect did not follow cause reliably each and every time then it would become very difficult to
survive as we learn from repeated exposure to cause and effect what is likely to happen if we do X. ...

Surely the simplest explanation is that cause and effect simply do exist.
Is everything we will ever think or do pre determined? Were all of the great works of creation in art
music and architecture pre determined at the point of creation? Again this argument seems both
unsatisfactory and false.
So how do we resolve this contradiction? One answer lies in the way in which we perceive the world.
There are essentially two worlds in nature. The world that we see: the macro world, the world of
Newtonian physics, and the world of the very, very small: the world of quantum physics.
Quantum physics essentially shows us that far from being totally predictable, the paths of particles are
unknowable, because the act of observing a particle will alter it or its path in some way. Thus, rather
than dealing with absolute positions, directions and speeds quantum physics uses statistics to predict
the position of particles. This means that for a given particle we only have a probability of where it
will be.
Now the behaviour of large numbers of particles is much easier because lots of these elusive particles
acting together and in relation to each other (as in matter) become more predictable. Why? Imagine a
box with a divider such that we can close the box into two identical halves at any time. Suppose the
box is totally empty a perfect vacuum. We then introduce

President Obama s President Bush Essay
Incumbent politicians spend their time in office voting on legislation to benefit their constituents,
crafting legislation to fit party principles, building a reputation for reelection, and crafting a legacy
that will ensure them a spot in history. President Obama s choice to act unilaterally in signing the Paris
Agreement solidifies his legacy by finally putting into effect an international agreement that has been
a work in progress for two decades. The Republican ruled Congress has been opposing what they
claim to be a war on coal since President Obama made climate change a focus of his second term.
Obama s bypass of Congressional approval for the Paris Agreement, an agreement many see as a
treaty, will strain Congressional/Executive relations for terms to come by encouraging members of
Congress to be cautious of unilateral actions while encouraging the President to take advantage of
them. The Paris Agreement is made up of 195 nations who plan to cut their greenhouse gas emissions
in an attempt to slow down the increase in the global temperature. President Obama s decision to sign
this agreement does not only promote his personal climate change legacy but the climate change
legacy of the United States of America. Since this environmental pact is only legally binding when at
least 55 countries representing 55 percent of global emissions sign on, a United States signature could
very well be the difference between a revolutionary global climate change policy and

Yellowstone National Park Observation Report
The national park system has become an invaluable laboratory for researchers while also being
popular travel destinations for tourists looking to relax, learn, and reconnect with nature. It is through
family trips to these national treasures that I became interested in studying more about the natural
world at the university. Yellowstone National Park, which I visited over a decade ago, has recently
been in the news for its successful reintroduction of wolves into the park grounds. However, a new
article from The New York Times raises concern over the reintroduction of hunting, which threatens
not only the wolf population, but ongoing research and a thriving tourist economy.
The depletion and extirpation of wolves in the national park occurred

To Kill A Mockingbird Comparison
A Time To Kill and To Kill A Mockingbird are both based upon a common theme which is racism. The
novel, written by Harper Lee, and film, are alike in many ways, but they are also unlike as well. The
novel To Kill A Mockingbird and the film A Time To Kill differ in many ways, for instance; the
evidence that appeared in each trial, and the fact that Carl Lee was guilty and Tom was innocent.
Lastly, the final verdict varied for each case.
The evidence within the novel was only supported by Mayella Ewell and Tom Robinson s word, and
Tom s mangled arm. He got it caught in a cotton gin, caught in Mr. Dolphus Raymond s cotton gin
when he was a boy... like to bled to death... tore all the muscles loose from his bones (Lee 188). There

his life, he had attempted to run and this resulted in his death. To Maycomb, Tom s death was typical.
Typical of a nigger to cut and run. Typical of a nigger s mentality to have no plan, no thought for the
future, just run blind first chance he saw (Lee 243). Although Tom s family was devastated for their
loss, they were very grateful for Atticus diligence and had sent an abundance of food to his family.

justice for it, and ended the thought with imagine they were white . With that thought, outside the
courthouse, a child had ran outside to announce Carl Lee s declaration of innocence. Many of the

Direct Combustion Of Biomass For Heat Generation
Direct combustion is the most common way of converting biomass to energy both heat and electricity
and worldwide it already provides over 90% of the energy generated from biomass. Direct combustion
of solid biomass fuel is well understood, relatively straightforward, commercially available, and can
be regarded as a proven technology. Biomass combustion systems can be easily integrated with
existing infrastructure. Direct combustion of biomass for heat generation is widely used in cold
climate regions where there are significant annual demands for space heating and hot water. Domestic
biomass fired heating appliance in the developed countries have been improved with automation and
standardized fuel supplies (e.g. wood pellets). Compared with traditionally open fireplaces, these
advanced domestic biomass applications not only achieve efficiencies of over 70% but also with
greatly reduced atmospheric emissions (Liu H. 20 II)

Thermo chemical gasification is the conversion by partial oxidation at high temperature of a
carbonaceous feedstock such as biomass into a gaseous energy carrier (Liu H. et al. 2010). The gas
resulted from biomass gasification consists of CO,
CO2, H2, CH4, higher hydrocarbons such as ethane and ethene, water, nitrogen (if air is used as the
oxidizing agent) and other contaminants such as small char particles, ash, tars and oils. Gasification

The Influence Of The Middle Ages
Over the course of various historical eras, people have examined and analyzed certain periods that
have given significant influence to our modern world. In Europe, the fifth century to the fifteenth
century is known as the Middle Ages and to this day is questioned whether to refer it as a dark time or
not. Many may say these ages were dark due to barbarian invasions that eventually led to the fall of
the Roman Empire. On the other hand what those individuals lacked to take notice of was the
significant contribution the Middle Ages brought into Western civilization. Education, philosophy,
literature and humanism are prominent factors that have become a part of the sum of progress during
this time. Scholars like John of Salisbury are known for their influence and contributions towards the
development of human knowledge throughout the Middle Ages. John of Salisbury got his name from
his birth place Salisbury, in southern England (1115 1120). Little is known of his family background
however, what is known is his years of education and how he became Archbishop Theobald of
Canterbury. One of his most famous writing passages is called Metalogicon. The purpose of this book
was to address and discredit the attacks made on Trivium which turned out to be a good source in
regards to understanding the study of grammar, logic and rhetoric. In chapter 10, John begins with
defining what logic is and explains its importance. He states there can be no doubt that all logic is

How Did John F. Kennedy Act Through the Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban missile crisis of 1962 brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. What was at stake in
the crisis, and how do you assess President Kennedy s response to Khrushchev s provocation? Was
Kennedy prudent or rash, suitably tough or needlessly belligerent?
By Jeremy Leung 299722
USA The World 131 236
The Cuban Missile Crisis was perhaps the closest that humankind had ever become to experiencing a
thermonuclear war. In October 1962, the world watched perilously, as U.S. president John F. Kennedy
warned his people of the amalgamation of Soviet arms in Cuba. John F. Kennedy refused to accept
offensive Soviet artillery in such close proximity to the U.S., but Soviet chairman Nikita Khrushchev
had already planned a stealthily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reasons why McNamara and Kennedy and other U.S. politicians were so fearful of a nuclear was
because according to U.S. analysts at the time, the 24 MRBM s (Medium range ballistic missiles) and
sixteen IRBM s (intermediate range ballistic missiles) that were found in Cuba had significantly
increased the number of U.S. targets that the Soviet s could lethally attack by forty percent.[8]
Furthermore, having missiles within Cuba allowed the Soviets to bypass the U.S. warning radars,
especially the Ballistics Missile Early Warning system, which was stationed in the North Pole.[9] By
bypassing the U.S. warning radars, it certainly amplified the risk of a surprise strike upon certain
American air bases and important command posts.[10] To address this risk, the U.S. army went from
Defence Condition Five (peacetime alert) to Defcon 3 (war alert) which further illustrated the high
levels of precautions the U.S. government were taking in order to protect itself from an offensive
attack from the Soviet.[11] It was quite clear from these precautions that the impending nuclear threat
in Cuba threatened the lives of American civilians, troops, and government officials. In the event that
the situation escalated out of control, the two world superpowers could have engaged in a third World
War that, with nuclear technology had the potential to kill hundreds of millions of civilians and
soldiers.[12] Fortunately, the Cuban Mission Crisis never escalated this

What Is The Exploration Of Thailand Essay
Exploration of Thailand
Introduction
Let s take a vacation to Thailand! Being the adventurous person I am I always love to go explore new
places with friends and family. This year we ve decided to go to Thailand and I can t wait. I decided I
wanted to bring along my mom and my friend Hailey for some girl fun. I didn t know much about
Thailand so I had to do research fast since we re leaving May 15th and coming home the 21st.
Thailand is a country in the Southeast part of Asia. It is split up into two different sections, the
Northern part which is the main part, and a smaller peninsula that is an extension to the Southern part.
Their climates are rainy and warm since they are in the Monsoon climate zone. During May it is
expected to be rainy, and sunny with a high of 89 degrees and a low of 77 degrees. Thailand is filled
with big, beautiful mountains that in the North and South form the Himalayas According to Map Fight
Thailand is two times the size of Michigan.
The majority of people in Thailand are Thai which means the have a religious freedom. According to
Facts and Details Thailand s religion is 93.6% Buddhism. As for governing there has been a marked
devolution of power since the 1980s. According to Britannica, most of the local governing is in major

The Mirror In Sylvia Plath s Mirror
Sylvia Plath s, Mirror, takes hold of a young girl s misery with her reflection. The poem s narrator is
the mirror, that witnesses accounts of the girl s miserable life. The girl ridicules her image, every day
of her life, by looking into the mirror and watching closely her imperfections taking over. As the girl
grows older, the mirror becomes abundant with the girl s sorrow towards her figure. The girl is
drowning in her self loathing and can t find a way to overcome her reflection.
The narration of Mirror is not human, but a mirror that witnesses sorrow and despair of a young girl
transforming into a woman. The mirror neither judges nor lies. It does not shed opinions but rather
respects the ethical meaning of the truth. The mirror shows what is respectfully present. I am not cruel,
only truthful. (Plath 5). The speaker is not talking to one person but is messaging the world, that a
mirror will not show what you want. A mirror represents the truth. It doesn t hide what is shown but
embraces the person looking into the mirror, that whoever is looking in, is born this way, and should
not stray from it. Mirror is a free verse type of poem, which doesn t block the poem from conveying
the meaning of the poem. The poem is broken down into two stanzas, both consisting of short
sentences. The first stanza represents how the girl first realizes her image through the mirror. The little
girl understands what she looks like and that the mirror can t replace her image with something

Revolution In Xinjiang, Chechnya, And Quebec
Revolution is a common part of life, from the relatively simple revolution of changing your individual
life, to a nation becoming severing the ties that bind it to its past. Xinjiang, Chechnya, and Quebec are
all areas that have experienced revolution on a massive scale. However, not all of them followed the
same ideal of revolution. First, in Xinjiang, the revolution was brought about by the heavy influx of
Han Chinese into the Uighurs territory. This caused them to feel marginalized politically, and also
made them feel as if their very culture and independence were being threatened. The Uighurs reacted
to these feelings by going down a violent path, rioting and fighting for what they perceive to be
incursions on their rights. Now, even 50 years later, there is still conflict in the region, with the
Chinese Army having to quell a riot just as recently as 2009. Next, in Chechnya, following along the
same lines of political conflicts as Xinjiang, just with a dose of economic and cultural for good
measure, the revolution was brought about by the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. After the fall of
the USSR and Russia losing its status as a world superpower, Chechnya tried to abandon ship, so to

Though the beginning of the separatist movement was marred by fighting and violence, the vast
majority of the conflict has been a political one. The reason for the revolution in Quebec stems from
the restrictions placed upon the populace by the English. These restrictions were on both the language
and culture of the Quebecois, and caused them to feel trapped in under the English rule, for lack of a
better term. This revolution is on a much less certain foot than the others however, with many of the
younger citizens not remember the restrictions of days

The Working Poor Shipler Chapter 2 Summary
In David Shipler s novel, The Working Poor Shipler expresses that life is not always easy, especially
living in poverty. Shipler tries to get across to his readers that work does not always work. The main
topic addressed is ultimately the dilemmas of public aid. Shipler illustrates this in chapter 2 of his
novel by explaining the lives of three hard working woman who are stuck in the poverty cycle. Just
because these women have a job, does not mean that they are able to free themselves from poverty.
Throughout chapter 2, it references back to the life of the three hard working women who hold
minimum wage jobs; the women make between $6 and $7 per hour and attempt to make a living with
help from the government through Medicaid, welfare checks, and food stamps. The issue with this is

Majority of the women s money goes to two major things; expenses on day care and food for their
children. The major issue of the two expenses lies within the food that is purchased for their children.
It is because the women are hardly home because they are out working to make a living that the
children are in need of quick, easy to make foods. Most foods that require little to no cooking typically
fall under the unhealthy or junk food category. If the kids are always exposed to bad eating habits then
that could lead to health issues and sickness; health issues cost money. If the children are constantly

Abortion is Not the Reason for Lower Crime Rates Essay
What is wrong with the ivory tower? The appointment of Peter ( Death to Disabled Newborns! )
Singer to the bioethics faculty at Princeton University has generated considerable controversy.
Recently, University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt and Stanford University Law School

The authors contend that legalized abortion fueled the drop in crime in the 1990s because a new

would not then be forced to spend their days begging and could undertake some gainful employment.
And infants would be sold at 12 months, after weaning, as a tasty delicacy for the gentry. The
commonwealth would then be rid of children who might turn thieves for want of work. Swift minutely

Examples Of Maturity In Catcher In The Rye
There are certain qualities that define maturity, and they vary from person to person. Throughout the
story, Holden Caulfield, the sixteen year old protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is
slowly but surely becoming a mature, young boy. He battles through his teenage life because he is
caught between two worlds; one of pure bliss and innocence, the other of a mature adult. As he aspires
to be the catcher in the rye , he wants all children to hold on to their innocence as long as they can
because he feels the world is full of phony adults. However with the help of some friends and family,
he is able to realize that he cannot save all children and that they will eventually have to grow up.

The Income Statement And The Balance Sheet
(Introduction)
Throughout the entirety of the paper I will discuss the purposes of the income statement and the
balance sheet; while also identifying the major types of expenses shown on the income statement, and
listing major types of assets inside the typical balance sheet. I will also discuss the three different
accounts that comprise the owner s equity on a corporate balance sheet and the three categories of
ratios that a business may use in an analysis of its financial statements. Lastly I will explain a
statement of cash flows and describe the three standard sections contained in cash flow statements.
Since I will be discussing multiple categories, I want to clearly state each one by dividing them into
separate sections. Each topic holds dominant relevance to finance and the ability to fully understand a
business by comprehending how they work. Having the ability to understand the data projected from a
business, is the bone structure for seeing how it grows or regresses. To aid in this understanding I
would like to first start off with the income statement.
Income Statement For businesses to have an overview of what direction their company is going,
whether it be profiting or declining, they will conduct a quarterly or yearly income statement. An
income statement reports the earnings and expenses incurred over a certain time period (Melicher

Preservation Restoration Of Degraded Or Low Quality Lakes
The majority of the world freshwater is shallow and confined to lowland areas (Beklioglu et al., 2011).
These shallow polymictic lakes usually with a depth of less than three meters are an important natural
resource and facilitate numerous services, as result having a crucial economical and conservation
value (Beklioglu et al., 2011). High quality of these lakes has become a political obligation with
initiatives such as the European commission s water frame work directive implemented both locally
and internationally. Therefore in order to maintain this value the management restoration of degraded
or low quality lakes is a widespread and key process. However understanding the fundamental
physical, biological and chemical aspects of the ecosystem is a crucial starting block in these
restoration process.
Shallow lakes have become the archetypical example of ecosystems with alternative stable states, a
clear state dominated by and submerged flora, and a turbid state with high phytoplankton biomass
(Scheffer et al., 1993; Scheffer and Jeppesen, 1998). Unlike turbid lakes, clear shallow lakes are often
dominated by submerged macrophytes which facilitate high biodiversity, high water quality and
provide higher lake aesthetic qualities, they are thus considered a crucial element of a healthy clear
shallow lake ecosystem. As a result from a conservation and economic standpoint the clear state is the
ideal that is aimed for during restoration and management. Shallow lakes often

The Bombing Of The Twin Towers
The bombing of the Twin Towers turned America s focused toward the Middle East. The War on
Terrorism began in earnest. This war has brought about more than one conflict. As a nation, the United
States is unique. The government is not run by any particular regime or religion, there is freedom. Yet,
this is our unique brand of freedom. The Middle East is full of peoples with their own way of life that
do not necessarily agree with the way we see freedom. Lila Abu Lughod discusses one of the many
difference between the United States and the Middle East, the use of head coverings and the burqa, in
her article Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving? She examines the cultural significance and
different types of veiling. Culture permeates every part of life. As Americans, maybe this is harder to
see. Yet, everything from the way we talk to what we choose to wear is the result of culture. This
makes it vital to understand that many things have a cultural significance. Abu Lughod expresses her
dismay over the obsession with the plight of Muslim women being focused on the burqa (209). Many
people have adopted the burqa as the symbol of the oppression of Muslim women. Yet, the burqa is
simply a form of covering originally specific to the Pashtun people. Each form of covering is part of
the Islamic religion. Each holds significance for the community that wears it. The purpose of women
wearing a veil of any kind is to assure their protection in the public sphere from the harassment of

Clarkson Lumber
I. Introduction Clarkson Lumber Company has been in growth during recent years and anticipated a
further increase in sales. Despite of consistent profits, the company has suffered shortage of cash and
borrowed fund needed for its business growth. Question #1 Increasing amount of borrowing despite of
its consistent profitability came from following reasons. First is the firm s financial position. As sales
have increased by 60% from 1993 1995, the assets that support increase of sales increased by 78%
(Exhibit 1 2). The increase amount of assets is over the amount of net income (addition to net worth).
To meet financial needs, the company received short term loans from bank, $60 in 1994 and $390 in
1995 (Exhibit 2). The gross profit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, the restriction of investment in fixed assets can be obstacle of the business growth. The
property/sales ratio was stable around 20% from 1993 95 along with sales growth (Exhibit 2). It
implies that the company kept investing to fixed asset. Therefore, I would ask bank to change this
requirement as; If the company use the funds for business unrelated purpose, the lender has right to
call immediately. If the company will not take a full advantage of the trade discount, the company can
keep their number of days purchases as 38.34 days. So, their expected account payable is calculated
by following; Average purchases per day = Annual purchases/ 365 days = 4,277 / 365 days = 11.72
Account payable = Average purchase per day * number of days purchases = 11.72 * 38.34 = 449.26
Therefore, note payable to bank can be calculated through Balance sheet (Exhibit 3) as $654 K. We
assume that the interest rate is 11% of the note payable to bank but it causes the unlimited repeat of
calculation. We approximated the net worth with 1 iteration If the company will take a full advantage

Banco International, Inc. v. Goody s Family Clothing
United States District Court, Northern Division 54 F.2d 765
In the case of Banco v. Goody s, the courts ruled that Goody s was not wrong for canceling the
contract due to the finding of justified in reasonably concluding that Banco could not deliver the
product by the date set in the first purchase order between the parties and the failure to deliver the
goods by that date would have substantially impaired the value of those goods to Goody s. Goody s
entered into a contract with Banco to purchase wind suits. On or about July 13, 1994, Goody s agreed
to change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The contract was for a total of 62,748 jogging suits that would be custom made for girls and boys. The
total contract price was for $ 749,103.60 that included the shipping of the merchandise, which would
be shipped within six purchase orders. On or about August 29, 1994 they (Goody s) terminated their
contract in writing, which validates a right to cancel. The parties agreed to amend the first shipment
date, Goody s deny that all other shipment dates were to be amended as well. Goody s feel that there
was any wrongful, unlawful, or without good cause or justification eras on their behalf. Was there a
retraction of any Anticipatory Repudiation when Banco gave Goody s assurance shortly after Goody s
cancelled the contract? Did Goody s have a justifiable reason to cancel the entire contract with Banco?
The UCC permits the breaching party (subject to some limitations) to retract his or her repudiation.
This can be done by any method that clearly indicates the party s intent to perform. Once retraction is
made, the rights of the repudiating party under the contract are reinstated. The breaching party cannot
retract the repudiation. However, if since the time of the repudiation the other party has canceled or
materially changed position or otherwise indicated that the repudiation is final. [UCC 2 611, 2A 403]
According to the UCC §§ 2 609(2) and 2 609(4) Between merchants the reasonableness of grounds for
insecurity and the adequacy of any assurance offered

Comparing The Sniper , Ambush And The Trip
An author s main goal is to have the reader intrigued by the text with suspenseful and/or dramatic
scenes happening throughout the story. The authors of all three stories ( The Sniper , Ambush , and
The Trip ) all portray this expectation flawlessly. Even though the stories have a great chronological
order with amazing characters, they also share similar themes and subjects. The following reasons
explain why. In The Sniper , the main character is thrown into a revolutionary civil war. He s pressed
to make quick decisions off of his training and human instinct. The protagonist in Ambush is faced
with the same issue, he s in a bunker on watch waiting for something to happen. He s trained to react
when something does, but his human instinct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the authors managed to include this feature in their short stories with impeccable accuracy and
influential meaning. The Sniper included this by implying the fact that he was hit and dropping
beneath the opposing sniper s view of the parapet by including I m hit, he muttered. Dropping flat
onto the roof, he crawled back to the parapet, ( The Sniper ) which led to the revelation of what his
brother would later do when he s hit by a revolver round and killed in a battle of tactics. In The Trip
the author lets a character do the talking when it comes to foreshadowing. In the story the author
includes Rahal says, You want to get us all arrested as harraga? Get out of the boat if you want to get
there. It s not that far. I m turning back. to imply that the captain of the boat knows something bad is
going to happen and he doesn t want to get caught up with trafficking illegal immigrants when they
get caught in Spain. The author of Ambush adds I reached out and found three grenades and lined
them up in front of me; the pins had already been straightened for quick throwing. to create the
implication that something will happen with those grenades and sure enough it does. The grenades
impact the story because if they weren t there, the protagonist would have never had anything to regret
or be remorseful about. All three

Obstacles With Resilience
How can individuals overcome obstacles in their life? Like in the article Where there s a will, there is
a way they can overcome their obstacles with resilience. Resilience is a person s response to a
situation that helped them get through it in a positive way. The person can use the tough experience,
and use it to reflect other aspects in their life in positively. When using resilience we can understand
how to use it with the seven key elements (Harrington, 2012).
They key elements that are discussed are: emotional, spiritual, social, family, and physical. When
using these elements, people understand how to become flexible. When achieving their goals in these
areas they learn that to make everything go well together is part of becoming

Comparing Duchess Of Malfi And Midsummer Night s Dream
In the plays, The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster and Midsummer Night s Dream by William
Shakespeare, the main female characters can be put together from either story for easy comparison.
The Duchess and Cariola, from The Duchess of Malfi, can be compared to Hermia and Helena, from a
Midsummer Night s Dream, respectively as they serve as foils, even though they appear in different
plays. The reaction they have towards authority creates this comparison as they act similarly to each
other when it turns against them. The Duchess and Hermia, both devious and defiant, attempts to
escape their problems, as others treat Cariola and Helena poorly and cannot deal with the problems
when times get tough.
The Duchess and Hermia are torn away from their new lovers, and they both take similar action to
resolve their problems. Widowed in early age, the Duchess, a strong willed, loving wife and mother,
loses her bond in love but quickly finds love again. She finds Antonio, but her brothers demand her
not to continue; therefore she runs away. Hermia, a passionate woman with a strong will to love the
one she cannot, gets restricted from love due to her father s strong will and law. The Duchess, in
secret, does what she wants with Antonio by hastily marrying him, and having three children. Hermia,

Cariola, the Duchess maid, gets faced with a man named Bosola. As he tries to end her life, she cries

with him, due to his own thought and the will of law she continues to follow him. Helena, in the
process of trying to gain the love of him, whines and whimpers as she cannot get her way. Both

Julius Caesar Betrayal Essay
Betrayal in Julius Caesar William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar has many themes lied
within its script. One theme in particular sticks out throughout the play and, that theme can be tied to
three specific characters. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar presents the timeless theme of betrayal
can ultimately lead to absurdity. First, the first betrayal towards Caesar triggers the chaos among the
men in Julius Caesar. Next, Mark Antony s betrayal towards the Senate boosts the illogicality up to a
whole new level. Lastly, the betrayal within the main characters conclusively ends most of the chaos
and the play. Now that the structure for how betrayal is tied to the characters is laid out, now it s time
to state how all that can tie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, once Cassius kills himself, the men begin to grieve. When Cassius commits suicide, which is his
betrayal to himself, the men begin to settle their tomfoolery. Due to the men s betrayal to one another
during their war, this leads to a misunderstanding, which ultimately led to Cassius death. Second, once
Portia commits suicide, this eases Brutus motivation for betrayal because of his wife s death. Even if
Brutus brushes off her death, it really was one of the assets that drove him off the deep end. Portia s
death goes hand in hand with Brutus which ultimately ended the men acting so absurd. Lastly, due to
Brutus suicide, this ends all the absurdity amongst the men. Once Brutus runs on his sword this sets
the final peace, mainly because there is no one else to betray. This example clearly states how betrayal
leads to complete chaos, once there is no one else to betray there s finally peace. In conclusion, the
betrayal that had happened amongst the men and Romans (suicide) in the play was what conclusively
ended most of the chaos. With self betrayal being represented with suicide, after a good amount of
characters commit suicide, there isn t anyone else to betray. So this ultimately ends the

The Scope Of Nursing Practice
Multistate Licensure The scope of nursing practice is regulated and outlined by the State Board of
Nursing for each state. While every eligible student takes the same National Council Licensure Exam
(NCLEX), minimum education requirements and eligibility may differ state to state (Potter, Perry,
2013). Since nurses must have a license for each state practiced in, this becomes complicated for those
working near state borders, occupational nurses for companies operating in multiple states, and
traveling nurses. Obtaining and upholding individual state licenses can become burdensome and
expensive. To circumvent this issue, the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) came into fruition to allow
nurses to practice in participating states while only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NLC provides a mutual recognition model of nurse licensure that allows a nurse to have one
license... and to practice in other states... subject to each state s practice law and regulation (Litchfield,
2010, p.1). In order to have a multistate license a nurse must have primary residence in an NLC
participating state, have licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse/Vocational Nurse
in good standing, and meet all the states requirements of licensing (NCSBN, n.d.a). When practicing
in states other than the nurse s primary residence, even though it may be a compact states, the nurse
must adhere to each individual states practice law and regulation. That means that the nurse must
know and adhere to each individual states Nurse Practice Act (NPA) to be sure to practice under its
parameters which have the full force and effect of the law (NCBSN, n.d.b). The NPA establishes a
Board of Nursing, education standards, scope of nursing practice, titles and licensure, requirements for
licensure, and grounds for disciplinary actions (NCSBN, n.d.b). While organization for the NLC
started in 1996, the first participating states passed it into law in January 2000 (Litchfield, 2010).
Starting out with just four states, Maryland, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin (Litchfield 2010), the NLC

The Great Gatsby Freudian Analysis Essay
A Freudian Analysis of The Great Gatsby
Sigmund Freud, a psychological genius, created an entirely new system that dealt with the
understanding of the human personality. This technique, called psychoanalysis, consists of three
subdivisions. The id responds directly to his or her instincts, while the superego relies on his or her
sense of guilt. Lastly, the ego represents reality, or the balance between the id and superego. In F. Scott
Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the three levels of subconsciousness are ideally filled by the
main characters, Tom Buchanan, Jay Gatsby, and Nick Carraway. The id is not affected by reality,
logic or the everyday world, as it operates within the unconscious part of the mind (McLeod). Tom
Buchanan lived in his own mind. Listening only to his own instincts, he proved to be impulsive and
selfish. He knew what he wanted, and he would not give up until he achieved his goal. Tom did not
care about who he harmed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jay Gatsby adhered to society s expectations. He aimed at the goal of becoming his ideal self. Gatsby
wanted to gain the social position that he thought was necessary to win over Daisy s heart. So he
invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy would be likely to invent, and to this
conception he was faithful to the end (Fitzgerald 98). He even changed his name so that he could start
his journey creating his ideal self. He wanted to forget his gloomy past. He did anything to work his
way up to become a rich man because his conscience told him Daisy yearned for him to be successful.
Howes states, When Nick entertains Gatsby s requests, Gatsby rewards him with friendship. This
exhibits the fact that Gatsby listened to his conscience. He felt like he owed Nick for his acts of
kindness. He s afraid, he s waited so long. He thought you might be offended (Fitzgerald 78). Again,
Gatsby cared about others

Selfishness In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
Kelly Polen
Professor Brian Fruits
Writing About Literature
4 February 2016
The Road to Unselfishness Michael Jordan once said, To be successful you have to be selfish or else
you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay
reachable. Stay in touch. Don t isolate (Jordan). Many people would argue against the idea of needing
to be selfish. Selfishness is viewed by society as being greedy and ignorant to what is going on in the
world. Even though society has a negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is
necessary to focus on achieving their own successes, and once they are successful, they then can take
a step back and be concerned about other people. This is best shown through ... Show more content on

When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over
and over under her breath: free, free, free! (Chopin 477). The main character, Louise, wasn t concerned
about her husband s death, instead she was excited to finally be free from him. This is an example of
Louise having the need to be selfish. If she focused on her husband s death, then she would be unable
to reach her full potential. Instead, by her being selfish, she becomes a stronger person, allowing her to
be confident in her ability to live on her own and to live for herself rather than for other people.
Connecting this back to Michael Jordan s quote, Louise will not be able to reach her full potential with
her husband alive which causes her to be selfish and not care that he was reported dead. Society would
argue that Louise should be upset over the reported death of her husband, and would be appalled to
find out she was actually relieved when she was told he died. Overall, even though society has a
negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is necessary to focus on achieving their own
successes, and once they are successful, they then can take a step back and be concerned about other
people. This is best shown through Jack Gilbert s A Brief for the Defense , W.H. Auden s Mussée des
Beaux Arts , and Kate Chopin s The Story of an

  • 2. Free Will Essay examples Free Will Everything that happens has a cause and every cause has an effect. Effect strictly follows cause every time. This is an necessary logical tool for humans in understanding the world around them. Because humans understand the concept of time it means that they can then understand that some things always happen after other things. Spotting these patterns allows them to then deliberately cause certain effects by mimicking or instigating the cause they had previously observed. If effect did not follow cause reliably each and every time then it would become very difficult to survive as we learn from repeated exposure to cause and effect what is likely to happen if we do X. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surely the simplest explanation is that cause and effect simply do exist. Is everything we will ever think or do pre determined? Were all of the great works of creation in art music and architecture pre determined at the point of creation? Again this argument seems both unsatisfactory and false. So how do we resolve this contradiction? One answer lies in the way in which we perceive the world. There are essentially two worlds in nature. The world that we see: the macro world, the world of Newtonian physics, and the world of the very, very small: the world of quantum physics. Quantum physics essentially shows us that far from being totally predictable, the paths of particles are unknowable, because the act of observing a particle will alter it or its path in some way. Thus, rather than dealing with absolute positions, directions and speeds quantum physics uses statistics to predict the position of particles. This means that for a given particle we only have a probability of where it will be. Now the behaviour of large numbers of particles is much easier because lots of these elusive particles acting together and in relation to each other (as in matter) become more predictable. Why? Imagine a box with a divider such that we can close the box into two identical halves at any time. Suppose the box is totally empty a perfect vacuum. We then introduce ... • 3. President Obama s President Bush Essay Incumbent politicians spend their time in office voting on legislation to benefit their constituents, crafting legislation to fit party principles, building a reputation for reelection, and crafting a legacy that will ensure them a spot in history. President Obama s choice to act unilaterally in signing the Paris Agreement solidifies his legacy by finally putting into effect an international agreement that has been a work in progress for two decades. The Republican ruled Congress has been opposing what they claim to be a war on coal since President Obama made climate change a focus of his second term. Obama s bypass of Congressional approval for the Paris Agreement, an agreement many see as a treaty, will strain Congressional/Executive relations for terms to come by encouraging members of Congress to be cautious of unilateral actions while encouraging the President to take advantage of them. The Paris Agreement is made up of 195 nations who plan to cut their greenhouse gas emissions in an attempt to slow down the increase in the global temperature. President Obama s decision to sign this agreement does not only promote his personal climate change legacy but the climate change legacy of the United States of America. Since this environmental pact is only legally binding when at least 55 countries representing 55 percent of global emissions sign on, a United States signature could very well be the difference between a revolutionary global climate change policy and ... It is through family trips to these national treasures that I became interested in studying more about the natural world at the university. Yellowstone National Park, which I visited over a decade ago, has recently been in the news for its successful reintroduction of wolves into the park grounds. However, a new article from The New York Times raises concern over the reintroduction of hunting, which threatens not only the wolf population, but ongoing research and a thriving tourist economy. The novel, written by Harper Lee, and film, are alike in many ways, but they are also unlike as well. The novel To Kill A Mockingbird and the film A Time To Kill differ in many ways, for instance; the evidence that appeared in each trial, and the fact that Carl Lee was guilty and Tom was innocent. Lastly, the final verdict varied for each case. The evidence within the novel was only supported by Mayella Ewell and Tom Robinson s word, and Tom s mangled arm. • 6. Direct Combustion Of Biomass For Heat Generation Direct combustion is the most common way of converting biomass to energy both heat and electricity and worldwide it already provides over 90% of the energy generated from biomass. Direct combustion of solid biomass fuel is well understood, relatively straightforward, commercially available, and can be regarded as a proven technology. Biomass combustion systems can be easily integrated with existing infrastructure. Direct combustion of biomass for heat generation is widely used in cold climate regions where there are significant annual demands for space heating and hot water. Domestic biomass fired heating appliance in the developed countries have been improved with automation and standardized fuel supplies (e.g. wood pellets). • 7. The Influence Of The Middle Ages Over the course of various historical eras, people have examined and analyzed certain periods that have given significant influence to our modern world. In Europe, the fifth century to the fifteenth century is known as the Middle Ages and to this day is questioned whether to refer it as a dark time or not. Many may say these ages were dark due to barbarian invasions that eventually led to the fall of the Roman Empire. On the other hand what those individuals lacked to take notice of was the significant contribution the Middle Ages brought into Western civilization. Education, philosophy, literature and humanism are prominent factors that have become a part of the sum of progress during this time. Scholars like John of Salisbury are known for their influence and contributions towards the development of human knowledge throughout the Middle Ages. John of Salisbury got his name from his birth place Salisbury, in southern England (1115 1120). Little is known of his family background however, what is known is his years of education and how he became Archbishop Theobald of Canterbury. One of his most famous writing passages is called Metalogicon. The purpose of this book was to address and discredit the attacks made on Trivium which turned out to be a good source in regards to understanding the study of grammar, logic and rhetoric. By Jeremy Leung 299722 USA The World 131 236 The Cuban Missile Crisis was perhaps the closest that humankind had ever become to experiencing a thermonuclear war. In October 1962, the world watched perilously, as U.S. president John F. Kennedy warned his people of the amalgamation of Soviet arms in Cuba. John F. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reasons why McNamara and Kennedy and other U.S. politicians were so fearful of a nuclear was because according to U.S. analysts at the time, the 24 MRBM s (Medium range ballistic missiles) and sixteen IRBM s (intermediate range ballistic missiles) that were found in Cuba had significantly increased the number of U.S. targets that the Soviet s could lethally attack by forty percent.[8] Furthermore, having missiles within Cuba allowed the Soviets to bypass the U.S. warning radars, especially the Ballistics Missile Early Warning system, which was stationed in the North Pole.[9] By bypassing the U.S. warning radars, it certainly amplified the risk of a surprise strike upon certain American air bases and important command posts.[10] To address this risk, the U.S. army went from Defence Condition Five (peacetime alert) to Defcon 3 (war alert) which further illustrated the high levels of precautions the U.S. government were taking in order to protect itself from an offensive attack from the Soviet.[11] It was quite clear from these precautions that the impending nuclear threat in Cuba threatened the lives of American civilians, troops, and government officials. In the event that the situation escalated out of control, the two world superpowers could have engaged in a third World War that, with nuclear technology had the potential to kill hundreds of millions of civilians and soldiers.[12] Fortunately, the Cuban Mission Crisis never escalated this ... The poem s narrator is the mirror, that witnesses accounts of the girl s miserable life. The girl ridicules her image, every day of her life, by looking into the mirror and watching closely her imperfections taking over. As the girl grows older, the mirror becomes abundant with the girl s sorrow towards her figure. The girl is drowning in her self loathing and can t find a way to overcome her reflection. The narration of Mirror is not human, but a mirror that witnesses sorrow and despair of a young girl transforming into a woman. The mirror neither judges nor lies. It does not shed opinions but rather respects the ethical meaning of the truth. The mirror shows what is respectfully present. I am not cruel, only truthful. (Plath 5). The speaker is not talking to one person but is messaging the world, that a mirror will not show what you want. A mirror represents the truth. It doesn t hide what is shown but embraces the person looking into the mirror, that whoever is looking in, is born this way, and should not stray from it. Mirror is a free verse type of poem, which doesn t block the poem from conveying the meaning of the poem. The poem is broken down into two stanzas, both consisting of short sentences. Revolution In Xinjiang, Chechnya, And Quebec Revolution is a common part of life, from the relatively simple revolution of changing your individual life, to a nation becoming severing the ties that bind it to its past. Xinjiang, Chechnya, and Quebec are all areas that have experienced revolution on a massive scale. However, not all of them followed the same ideal of revolution. First, in Xinjiang, the revolution was brought about by the heavy influx of Han Chinese into the Uighurs territory. This caused them to feel marginalized politically, and also made them feel as if their very culture and independence were being threatened. The Uighurs reacted to these feelings by going down a violent path, rioting and fighting for what they perceive to be incursions on their rights. Now, even 50 years later, there is still conflict in the region, with the Chinese Army having to quell a riot just as recently as 2009. Next, in Chechnya, following along the same lines of political conflicts as Xinjiang, just with a dose of economic and cultural for good measure, the revolution was brought about by the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. Shipler illustrates this in chapter 2 of his novel by explaining the lives of three hard working woman who are stuck in the poverty cycle. Just because these women have a job, does not mean that they are able to free themselves from poverty. The Income Statement And The Balance Sheet (Introduction) Throughout the entirety of the paper I will discuss the purposes of the income statement and the balance sheet; while also identifying the major types of expenses shown on the income statement, and listing major types of assets inside the typical balance sheet. I will also discuss the three different accounts that comprise the owner s equity on a corporate balance sheet and the three categories of ratios that a business may use in an analysis of its financial statements. Lastly I will explain a statement of cash flows and describe the three standard sections contained in cash flow statements. Since I will be discussing multiple categories, I want to clearly state each one by dividing them into separate sections. Each topic holds dominant relevance to finance and the ability to fully understand a business by comprehending how they work. Having the ability to understand the data projected from a business, is the bone structure for seeing how it grows or regresses. To aid in this understanding I would like to first start off with the income statement. Income Statement For businesses to have an overview of what direction their company is going, whether it be profiting or declining, they will conduct a quarterly or yearly income statement. • 19. Preservation Restoration Of Degraded Or Low Quality Lakes The majority of the world freshwater is shallow and confined to lowland areas (Beklioglu et al., 2011). These shallow polymictic lakes usually with a depth of less than three meters are an important natural resource and facilitate numerous services, as result having a crucial economical and conservation value (Beklioglu et al., 2011). High quality of these lakes has become a political obligation with initiatives such as the European commission s water frame work directive implemented both locally and internationally. Therefore in order to maintain this value the management restoration of degraded or low quality lakes is a widespread and key process. However understanding the fundamental physical, biological and chemical aspects of the ecosystem is a crucial starting block in these restoration process. Shallow lakes have become the archetypical example of ecosystems with alternative stable states, a clear state dominated by and submerged flora, and a turbid state with high phytoplankton biomass (Scheffer et al., 1993; Scheffer and Jeppesen, 1998). Unlike turbid lakes, clear shallow lakes are often dominated by submerged macrophytes which facilitate high biodiversity, high water quality and provide higher lake aesthetic qualities, they are thus considered a crucial element of a healthy clear shallow lake ecosystem. As a result from a conservation and economic standpoint the clear state is the ideal that is aimed for during restoration and management. Shallow lakes often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, this is our unique brand of freedom. The Middle East is full of peoples with their own way of life that do not necessarily agree with the way we see freedom. Lila Abu Lughod discusses one of the many difference between the United States and the Middle East, the use of head coverings and the burqa, in her article Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving? She examines the cultural significance and different types of veiling. Culture permeates every part of life. As Americans, maybe this is harder to see. Yet, everything from the way we talk to what we choose to wear is the result of culture. This makes it vital to understand that many things have a cultural significance. Abu Lughod expresses her dismay over the obsession with the plight of Muslim women being focused on the burqa (209). Many people have adopted the burqa as the symbol of the oppression of Muslim women. Yet, the burqa is simply a form of covering originally specific to the Pashtun people. Therefore, I would ask bank to change this requirement as; If the company use the funds for business unrelated purpose, the lender has right to call immediately. If the company will not take a full advantage of the trade discount, the company can keep their number of days purchases as 38.34 days. So, their expected account payable is calculated by following; Average purchases per day = Annual purchases/ 365 days = 4,277 / 365 days = 11.72 Account payable = Average purchase per day * number of days purchases = 11.72 * 38.34 = 449.26 Therefore, note payable to bank can be calculated through Balance sheet (Exhibit 3) as $654 K. We assume that the interest rate is 11% of the note payable to bank but it causes the unlimited repeat of calculation. We approximated the net worth with 1 iteration If the company will take a full advantage of the trade discount, company s number of days purchases is 10 days. Account payable = average purchase per day * number of days purchases = 11.72 * 10 = 117.2 Therefore, the company have to borrow around $1,006 K from the bank in order to take a full advantage of trade discount. In this case, the company need to increase the credit limit over $1,000K. Question #5 As a financial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The authors of all three stories ( The Sniper , Ambush , and The Trip ) all portray this expectation flawlessly. Even though the stories have a great chronological order with amazing characters, they also share similar themes and subjects. The following reasons explain why. In The Sniper , the main character is thrown into a revolutionary civil war. He s pressed to make quick decisions off of his training and human instinct. The protagonist in Ambush is faced with the same issue, he s in a bunker on watch waiting for something to happen. He s trained to react when something does, but his human instinct ... Second, once Portia commits suicide, this eases Brutus motivation for betrayal because of his wife s death. Even if Brutus brushes off her death, it really was one of the assets that drove him off the deep end. Portia s death goes hand in hand with Brutus which ultimately ended the men acting so absurd. Lastly, due to Brutus suicide, this ends all the absurdity amongst the men. Once Brutus runs on his sword this sets the final peace, mainly because there is no one else to betray. This example clearly states how betrayal leads to complete chaos, once there is no one else to betray there s finally peace. • 29. The Great Gatsby Freudian Analysis Essay A Freudian Analysis of The Great Gatsby Sigmund Freud, a psychological genius, created an entirely new system that dealt with the understanding of the human personality. This technique, called psychoanalysis, consists of three subdivisions. The id responds directly to his or her instincts, while the superego relies on his or her sense of guilt. Lastly, the ego represents reality, or the balance between the id and superego. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the three levels of subconsciousness are ideally filled by the main characters, Tom Buchanan, Jay Gatsby, and Nick Carraway. The id is not affected by reality, logic or the everyday world, as it operates within the unconscious part of the mind (McLeod). Tom Buchanan lived in his own mind. Selfishness In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour Kelly Polen Professor Brian Fruits Writing About Literature 4 February 2016 The Road to Unselfishness Michael Jordan once said, To be successful you have to be selfish or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don t isolate (Jordan). Many people would argue against the idea of needing to be selfish. Selfishness is viewed by society as being greedy and ignorant to what is going on in the world. Even though society has a negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is necessary to focus on achieving their own successes, and once they are successful, they then can take a step back and be concerned about other people. This is best shown through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under her breath: free, free, free! (Chopin 477). The main character, Louise, wasn t concerned about her husband s death, instead she was excited to finally be free from him. This is an example of Louise having the need to be selfish. If she focused on her husband s death, then she would be unable to reach her full potential. Instead, by her being selfish, she becomes a stronger person, allowing her to be confident in her ability to live on her own and to live for herself rather than for other people. Connecting this back to Michael Jordan s quote, Louise will not be able to reach her full potential with her husband alive which causes her to be selfish and not care that he was reported dead. Society would argue that Louise should be upset over the reported death of her husband, and would be appalled to find out she was actually relieved when she was told he died. Overall, even though society has a negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is necessary to focus on achieving their own successes, and once they are successful, they then can take a step back and be concerned about other people.
