they live in is primarily run by men. All the power and authority in their society, no matter the

Burne Jones has highlighted line, particularly on the figure, which makes the painting almost flat and
stationary, giving the painting a still, calm look. Despite the expression in the angel s face, he almost
looks as if he is suspended, motionless in space.
It is painted with limited a palette, using soft, colours which almost illuminate the entire scene and
give the impression that the heavens are shining down upon the contemplative scene. The soft colours
are easy to the eye, not brash or harsh, emphasising the innocence of Mary and the holy aspects of the

In Little Princess, Conor Grennan goes on a journey to Nepal for a year. His mission was at first just
to have something on his resume and to help him figure out his life. He was going to Nepal to
volunteer at an orphanage. Nepal was in a critical time, a brutal Civil War. On entering the orphanage
his perceptive of volunteering was nothing too deep. He begins to bond with the orphans and
understand their stories. Many of the children had been taken away from their families and tricked into
thinking they were going to a better place. When he departs from Nepal, he realizes how much he
misses the kids and wants to go back. In Part II, he returns to the orphanage but leaves for two months

I was just 10 when more than 400 schools were destroyed. Women were flogged. People were killed.
And our beautiful dreams turned into nightmares. These all tie together because of the emotion
brought out. You start to realize just how lucky you are if you have a school to attend, a book to read,
or a pencil to write with. There are hundreds and thousands, if not millions of kids around the world
that want an education more than anything, but there are also people who take it for granted which

face crisis everyday. Education is one of the blessings of life and one of its necessities. Everything
about this is serious, it is letting the audience know that you need education. When my world suddenly

Environment And DAPL Lectures
For my event immersion, I chose to attend two different lectures. Specifically, the power of
knowledge: higher education, reintegration and liberation, as well as the environment/DAPL lecture.
Both lectures served as a reminder of what is necessary towards a focus on education in society. I
decided to look at both lectures because of my interest in how the two potentially collide based off an
interesting that I had personally. Socialization is one aspect of the conversation that does not
necessarily come forth, but holds a large degree of relevance.

The issue here is based on the fact that socialization ultimately works in hand with education and it
applies the identities. That is, Harro (2008) found that identities are ascribed to us at birth through no
effort or decision or choice of our own (p. 46). Considering this, it becomes increasingly difficult to
create a us vs them scenario. When in reality, it is two groups of people who have grown up believing
two different ideologies, and there is not really any type of dynamic change that is associated with this

acts as the judge and jury. They are both looking to bridge the gap between the two parties at odds that
