Skill variety
The degree to which the job requires a variety of
different activities so the worker can use a number of
different skills and talent..
Task identity
The degree to which the job requires completion of a
whole and identification piece of work.
Task significance
The degree to which the job has an impact on the life
and work of others.
Autonomy
The degree to which a job provides the worker
freedom and independence in scheduling the
work
Feedback
The degree to which an individual obtaining
direct and clear information about the
effectiveness of his or her performance
How can jobs be Redesigned?
Job Rotation
Periodically moving workers from one
specialized job to another.
Job Enrichment
Adding more tasks and authority to an
employee’s job.
Flexitime
Introducing flexible working hours.
It allows employees some discretion over
when they arrive at work and when they
leave.
Job sharing
It’s an arrangement that allows two or more
individuals to split a traditional 40-hours-a
week job.
Telecommuting
It refers to employees who do their work at
home at least two days a week on a computer
that is linked to their office.
Using Rewards To Motivate Employees
Variable pay programme
It is a pay plan that bases a portion of an employee’s pay on
some individuals or organisational measure of performance.
Piece-Rate pay plan
A pay in which workers are paid a fixed sum for each unit of
production completed.
Merit based pay plan
A pay plan based on performance appraisal ratings.
Skill based pay plan
Set the pay levels of employees based on how many skills
employees have or how many job they can do.
Profit sharing plan
Profit sharing plan
It is an organization wide programs that distribute
compensation based on some established formula
designed around a company’s profitability.
Gain sharing
It is a formula based group incentive plan.
The division of productivity savings can be split
between the company and employees in any number
of ways.
Employee stock Ownership plan
It is a company- established benefit plans in
which employees acquire stock, often at below
market prices, as part of their benefits.

Job application of motivation

  • 1. Job design is the way that elements in a job are organized Job Design
  • 2. Job characteristic model Skill variety The degree to which the job requires a variety of different activities so the worker can use a number of different skills and talent.. Task identity The degree to which the job requires completion of a whole and identification piece of work. Task significance The degree to which the job has an impact on the life and work of others.
  • 3. Autonomy The degree to which a job provides the worker freedom and independence in scheduling the work Feedback The degree to which an individual obtaining direct and clear information about the effectiveness of his or her performance
  • 4. How can jobs be Redesigned? Job Rotation Periodically moving workers from one specialized job to another. Job Enrichment Adding more tasks and authority to an employee’s job. Flexitime Introducing flexible working hours. It allows employees some discretion over when they arrive at work and when they leave.
  • 5. Job sharing It’s an arrangement that allows two or more individuals to split a traditional 40-hours-a week job. Telecommuting It refers to employees who do their work at home at least two days a week on a computer that is linked to their office.
  • 6. Using Rewards To Motivate Employees Variable pay programme It is a pay plan that bases a portion of an employee’s pay on some individuals or organisational measure of performance. Piece-Rate pay plan A pay in which workers are paid a fixed sum for each unit of production completed. Merit based pay plan A pay plan based on performance appraisal ratings. Skill based pay plan Set the pay levels of employees based on how many skills employees have or how many job they can do. Profit sharing plan
  • 7. Profit sharing plan It is an organization wide programs that distribute compensation based on some established formula designed around a company’s profitability. Gain sharing It is a formula based group incentive plan. The division of productivity savings can be split between the company and employees in any number of ways. Employee stock Ownership plan It is a company- established benefit plans in which employees acquire stock, often at below market prices, as part of their benefits.
