This document discusses advanced engineered systems for treating wastewater in the lower reaches of the Periyar River in India. The river is heavily polluted from domestic sewage, agricultural runoff, and industrial effluents. Conventional treatment methods are not sufficient to meet strict water quality standards. The document describes several advanced treatment systems that could be used, including membrane bioreactors, two-phase partitioning bioreactors, sequencing batch reactors, upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactors, anaerobic sequencing batch reactors, and advanced oxidation processes. These systems offer benefits like higher removal efficiency, ability to treat fluctuating or toxic wastewater, and ability to meet strict effluent standards.
The purpose of this article is to evaluate the possibilities of using denitrification
dephosphatation to enhance biogenic compounds removal in the wastewater treatment
plant using a separated nitrification process on a fixed-film. The analysis was based on
the multi-variant simulations of the combined system, fixed-film activated sludge
performance. Activated sludge ASIM 2D model which is linked to the model of
pollutions transformations in fixed-film was used. The analyses were performed based
on the input parameters (wastewater averaged daily rate, pH, COD values, total
suspended solids, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, and
alkalinity). The results indicated that there is a possibility of including fixed-film in the
activated sludge technology in order to improve nitrogen and phosphorus removal from
the wastewater. Nitrification process will be performed in fixed-film, whereas nitrogen
and phosphorus removal from the wastewater will be performed in anoxic chambers
which are operated by the activated sludge technology. Denitrifying dephosphatation
process guarantees a high level of total phosphorus reduction (81%) if the whole easily
decomposable substrate is consumed by microorganisms in the anoxic chamber in the
presence of enough nitrates.

The population growth in India is immense. Accordingly, the water supply amount is enormous which,
in return generates large amounts of wastewater. One such region is the Palghar Boisar region whose population
growth according to calculations will sky rocket. But the amount of sewage treatment plants present is only one for
a particular area. So, to combat this we decided to construct another Sewage treatment plant per another area. In
this project we will discuss the population growth of the region, design parameters, the method selection for
design, introduction and the complete design of a sewage treatment plant for Tarapur MIDC. The treatment
procedure has been developed to treat sewage and reuse the water for various purposes like water to gardening,
toilet flushing, farming and other requirements for Sewage treatment plant, Tarapur MIDC.
Artificial intelligence based control approach for membrane bioreactor in sew...eSAT Journals
Abstract Membrane bioreactors (MBR) for wastewater treatment, which have increasingly been employed for the last 15 years and which play an important role in wastewater treatment. It is the continuation of the fundamental contribution of sewage water treatment, which is extended and complemented in various aspects. In this project an advanced control approach is made to bring desired purification for sewage water. The major challenge in controlling MBR is the large amount of uncertainty present in the process models, in the unknown inflow conditions, and in the limited measurement information. Hence, controller development is driven by the necessity to structure uncertainty, to attenuate its harmful effects, and to exploit it wherever possible. Such a control method is model based predictive controller. The frame work for the model-based control of membrane bioreactors (MBR) is developed, which aims at the economical optimization of MBR operation Keywords: MBR, NMPC, Optimization.

Domestic Wastewater Treatment by Root Zone Technology Option: Colacassia PlantDr. Amarjeet Singh
Root Zone Technology is one of the low cost
methods to treat wastewater. With the help of this system we
can treat the Non-Point sources with best results. To achieve
this goal we have to divide the Non-Point sources into
constructed channels within the river bank followed by root
zone bed or if the Non-Point Sources is coming from natural
nallas we can provide this system within its Channel. We
have prepared channel on which I have developed the root
zone bed and have lab analysis of rector out put on number
of parameters. Flow rate and Detention time are the two
factors on which channels are to be designed. Therefore I
am changing the flow rate and finding out the change in
parameter with respect to detection time. The optimization
is when we get best result with maximum flow. I have got
satisfactory results for the detention time of Three day,
Seven day and twenty one day and Three day. With the help
of this data I have designed the root zone bed system for the
selected actual Domestic Sources.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
