This document summarizes a study that evaluated the use of coconut coir as an attached growth media for treating industrial wastewater. The study investigated the effect of organic loading rate (OLR) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in a reactor system using coir media. It found that COD removal efficiency increased with OLR up to 1.33 kg COD/m3d, above which removal efficiency decreased. The maximum COD removal of 89.9% was achieved at an OLR of 1.33 kg COD/m3d and HRT of 36 hours.

The purpose of this article is to evaluate the possibilities of using denitrification
dephosphatation to enhance biogenic compounds removal in the wastewater treatment
plant using a separated nitrification process on a fixed-film. The analysis was based on
the multi-variant simulations of the combined system, fixed-film activated sludge
performance. Activated sludge ASIM 2D model which is linked to the model of
pollutions transformations in fixed-film was used. The analyses were performed based
on the input parameters (wastewater averaged daily rate, pH, COD values, total
suspended solids, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, and
alkalinity). The results indicated that there is a possibility of including fixed-film in the
activated sludge technology in order to improve nitrogen and phosphorus removal from
the wastewater. Nitrification process will be performed in fixed-film, whereas nitrogen
and phosphorus removal from the wastewater will be performed in anoxic chambers
which are operated by the activated sludge technology. Denitrifying dephosphatation
process guarantees a high level of total phosphorus reduction (81%) if the whole easily
decomposable substrate is consumed by microorganisms in the anoxic chamber in the
presence of enough nitrates.

In India, to achieve the stringent norms of total nitrogen less than 10 mg/l in sewage treatment plant is a big challenge for the public - private facilities and organizations. After successful implementation of this norm the pollutant burden from rivers and natural water bodies certainly reduces. The use of conventional biological nitrogen removal (BNR) processes for new treatment facility development or retrofitting is also an energy and cost intensive practice. The process technologies offered by current market such as MLE, MBBR, IFAS and SBR are still in with downside of higher footprint, multi tank reactors, heavy instrumentation for IR and RAS which ultimately incur higher capital and operating cost. The current market need and lack of sustainable nitrogen removal applications, trigger to review the of all available efficient biological nitrogen removal processes. This review will gives an overall scenario of past and current biological nitrogen removal process technologies with showing possible scope and way forward towards more energy neutral nitrogen removal technologies.

Abstract Application of biosorbents has gained a great importance in the present scenario of waste water purification. The present work concentrates on the potential of biosorbent, Corn husk leaves, for the co-removal of phenol and cyanide from coke waste water by simultaneous adsorption and biodegradation (SAB). The microbe used in the present study is the bacteria of Serratia Sp. The entire SAB process was carried out at 30 0C and for 60 h. Theoptimum process parameters i.e. pH, initial concentration of both phenol and cyanide, adsorbent dose of corn husk leaves were analysed and their impact on the entire process were also studied. At the range of initial concentration of phenol between 100-1000 mg/L and cyanide between 10-100 mg/L, the optimum pH was obtained between 6.5-7 and an optimum adsorbent dose of 6 g/L. Multicomponent adsorption isotherms applied were Non-modified Langmuir, Modified Langmuir, Extended Langmuir and Extended Freundlich. Out of the four isotherms applied non-modified Langmuir isotherm proved to be the best fit for phenol and modified Langmuir isotherm was found to be best fit for cyanide. Phenol showed a removal percentage of 75 % by SAB process and cyanide showed a removal percentage of 83 %. The data was also non-linearly modelled for kinetic studies. Kinetic studies revealed that for both phenol and cyanide simultaneous adsorption and biodegradation took place by physisorption as well as by chemisorption. Surface diffusion is dominating for the simultaneous adsorption and biodegradation of phenol whereas in case of cyanide intraparticle diffusion is the dominating factor. Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor -A New Perspective In Pulp And Paper Waste Water T...IJERA Editor
The pulp and paper mill effluent is one of the high polluting effluent amongst the effluents obtained
from polluting industries. All the available methods for treatment of pulp and paper mill effluent have certain
drawbacks. In this work, experiments were conducted to treat the pulp and paper mill effluent using moving bed
biofilm reactor (MBBR).The wastewater generated by these industries contains high COD, BOD, colour, organic
substances and toxic chemicals. This study was carried out on laboratory scale Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor with
proflex type biocarriers, where the biofilm grows on small, free floating plastic elements with a large surface area
and a density slightly less than 1.0 g/cm3
. The reactor was operated continuously at 50% percentages filling of
biocarriers. During the filling percentage, the removal efficiencies of COD & BOD were monitored at the time
period of 2h, 4h, 6h and 8h. The result showed that the maximum COD and BOD removal of 87% were achieved
for the 50 percent filling of biocarriers at the HRT of 8 h. From the experimental results, the moving bed biofilm
reactor could be used as an ideal and efficient option for the organic and inorganic removal from the wastewater
of pulp and paper industry

High organic loaded wastes and wastewater creates environmental pollution. The textile wastewater is a serious environmental challenge faced by Bangladesh textile sub sector. The textile wastewater contains organic compounds and synthetic chemicals. Certain chemicals which are used in the textile industry cause environmental or health problems. Due to presence of chemicals, it cause instance allergic skin reaction or even cause cancer. Environmental degradation by the industrial sector is a matter of serious concern in Bangladesh. Textile processing industries is one of the most important industries of Bangladesh with regard to production, export and labor force employment. The major raw material for textile processing is grey fabric and most of materials consist of cotton and blended fabric. Textile processing employs a variety of chemicals depending on the nature of raw material and products such as; enzymes, detergents, dyes, acids, soda and salt. The textile wastewater is a highly polluted in terms of organic matter and suspended matter such as fibers, grease and chemicals. The textile wastewater is usually hot and alkaline with strong smell and color due to use of chemicals dyes. Studies reveled that wastewater from textile industry is highly toxic and has inhibitory effects on an activated sludge and nitrification.

It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.

Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
