A bench scale model and treatability study was developed for chemical product “detergents, shampoos, toilet soaps and sanitary paper” industry to study the analysis of waste discharge. The main process lines used in the industry are fabric and home care production unit, soap production unit, and sanitary paper production unit. The main environmental problem of the industry is that the industrial wastewater resulting from the facility is not meeting the limits of the environmental regulations for the discharge of wastewater to the sewer network. Accordingly, the industry has to treat the wastewater prior to its discharge to the wastewater sanitary network. The main objectives of this study are management and control of liquid and solid wastes in the industry as well as selecting the different possible treatment trains for the waste water prior to its discharge to the sewer system in order to protect the environment and to gain benefits as much as possible from the wasted materials and identify opportunities for introducing pollution prevention measures and best method for waste minimization as cleaner production system. The study is taking into account all types of waste production including wastewater and solid waste during the production processes activities. Treatment Procedure is conducted through treatability study using two proposed streams of techniques; biological treatment technique (Anaerobic Treatment) and chemical treatment followed by biological treatment technique (Coagulation followed by Sedimentation). According to the different treatment alternatives conducted through the study, it is proved the biological method is not suitable for this type of waste, as the antifoaming chemicals and enzymes present in the wastewater leads to death of the microorganisms and accordingly the failure of the treatment system. As for the chemical treatment, it provided good results in both industrial wastewater mixed with domestic wastewater, and industrial wastewater alone. It also provided good results when using both ferric chloride and aluminum sulphate. It is concluded that the coagulation and Flocculation process followed by plain sedimentation is the most reliable alternative treatment method for this kind of industry using ferric chloride for the wastewater without domestic wastewater. The removal efficiency reached 72 to 79%, 86 to 96%, 83 to 88% and 86% for COD, TSS, Phosphorous, and Oil and Grease respectively.

Solid Waste Management in Lebanon: Challenges and RecommendationsPremier Publishers
Successful waste management plans require accurate data about the nature and composition of waste. Despite the high content of organic (52%) and recyclable (37 %) materials in waste stream, only 8% and 15% of solid waste are recycled and composted respectively. Unfortunately, 48% of the waste are disposed in sanitary landfills. Dumping of waste and open burning is predominant outside Beirut and Mount Lebanon. Adequate treatment is unavailable for wastes produced by slaughterhouses, industrial premises and healthcare centers. Corruption, lack of human resources and suitable facilities and inadequate technical skills are responsible for inefficient municipal solid waste management. This paper aims at determining the current practices of municipalities in terms of segregation, collection, treatment and final disposal of solid waste. It also considers key policy challenges and recommendations for improving the municipal solid waste management system.
The purpose of this article is to evaluate the possibilities of using denitrification
dephosphatation to enhance biogenic compounds removal in the wastewater treatment
plant using a separated nitrification process on a fixed-film. The analysis was based on
the multi-variant simulations of the combined system, fixed-film activated sludge
performance. Activated sludge ASIM 2D model which is linked to the model of
pollutions transformations in fixed-film was used. The analyses were performed based
on the input parameters (wastewater averaged daily rate, pH, COD values, total
suspended solids, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, and
alkalinity). The results indicated that there is a possibility of including fixed-film in the
activated sludge technology in order to improve nitrogen and phosphorus removal from
the wastewater. Nitrification process will be performed in fixed-film, whereas nitrogen
and phosphorus removal from the wastewater will be performed in anoxic chambers
which are operated by the activated sludge technology. Denitrifying dephosphatation
process guarantees a high level of total phosphorus reduction (81%) if the whole easily
decomposable substrate is consumed by microorganisms in the anoxic chamber in the
presence of enough nitrates.

In todays life the generation of plastic waste has become the serious issue. It causes serious health and ecological problems like breeding of mosquitos and if eaten by cattle and wild animals endangers their lives too, also it stops vegetation from growing and obstructs in drain and piping, etc. The consumption of plastic has reached to 100 million tons, and this has caused increase in depletion of natural resources such as petroleum and natural gas etc. About 13 percent of the municipal solid waste is caused by plastic. 32 million tons of plastic waste was deposited in 2011, which is 12.7 percent of total MSW. Annually approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide every year. More than 1 million bags are used every minute. A Retrospection of Hydrogen Sulphide Removal Technologies in Biogas PurificationYogeshIJTSRD
Biogas is a valuable renewable energy source and a secondary energy carrier provided by anaerobic digestion of biodegradable organic materials. It can be used as a fuel in a number of ways. Methane CH4 and carbon dioxide CO2 are the main components of biogas, with other pollutants such as ammonia NH3 , water vapour H2O , hydrogen sulphide H2S , methyl siloxanes, nitrogen N2 , oxygen O2 , halogenated volatile organic compounds VOCs , carbon monoxide CO , and hydrocarbons present in varying amounts. H2S is a toxic and odorous compound formed by the anaerobic digestion of bio solids and other organic materials, and it is also one of the pollutants in biogas. Hydrogen sulphide must be eliminated because it is toxic to human health, poisonous to process catalysts, and corrosive to machinery. Desulfurization, or the removal of hydrogen sulphide, is an integral part of biogas utilization efficiency. Cationic and anionic dye adsorption by agricultural solid wastes: A comprehen...IOSR Journals
Dyes are an important class of pollutants, and can even be identified by the human eye. Disposal of dyes in precious water resources must be avoided, however, and for that various treatment technologies are in use. Among various methods adsorption occupies a prominent place in dye removal. Recently many researchers have proved that agricultural solid wastes can be effectively used as adsorbents for the removal of many pollutants including dyes. This review represents the effectiveness of agricultural solid wastes in the removal of dyes, of cationic and anionic classes, description of classification of dyes and comparison among cationic and anionic dyes adsorption by the same adsorbent, thus, possibly opening the door for a better understanding of the dye classified adsorption process. Both these classes of dyes are toxic and cause severe problems to aquatic environment. Some agricultural solid wastes can remove both dye classes. The dye adsorption capacities of agricultural waste adsorbents vary along with the variation in pH of solution, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage and process temperature. As the pH of the solution affects the surface charge of the adsorbent and degree of ionization of the adsorbate, it is directly related to the dye classified adsorption. This review also contains the table representing the adsorbent and subsequent dye/dyes appropriate for a particular process. Conclusions have been drawn from the literature reviewed, and suggestions for future research are proposed.
Treatment of Industrial Wastewater by Nonviable Biomass –A ReviewIJERA Editor
The present paper is a review paper on use of viable biomass of Industrial waste water treatment. there are many industry that use that latest technology such as the use of synthetic dyes for textile. However, a variety of synthetic dyestuff released by the textile industry has been posing a threat to the safety of the environment due the presence of a large number of toxic contaminants such as organic waste, acids, bases and organic pollutants. Therefore, the government began to control the pollution created by the industry to tighten the re gulation and enforcement by forcing the industry to treat waste before discharge to the environment. There are many methods have been used to treat this waste. However, it requires a treatment that really works not only at low cost with require minimal or no pre-treatment at all, but it must also be environmentally friendly, minimum sludge production and cleaner. This study used biological method to explore the usability of the microorganisms i.e. bacteria, Lactobacil lusde lbruckii for the removal of dyes from aqueous solutions. The ability of microorganism to decolorize and metabolise dyes has long been also the use of bioremediation based technology for treating textile waste water has attracted interest. The effects of different parameters such as pH, temperature and initial dye concentration were studied and the effectiveness of this method to remove the dye solution was determined by measuring the percentage of color removal

A major treat to the comfort of human life has been imposed by the unintentional and great increased industrialization and urbanization. Their generations and land disposals of huge amounts of toxic materials and pollutants have contributed in contaminating our environment frighteningly. Synthetic dyes (SD) and heavy metals (HM) are becoming increasingly prevalent in soil and surface water environments, as the most dangerous pollutants. They are present a great concern worldwide, due to their toxicity to many life forms. Environment-friendly utilization of agricultural by-products/waste materials either as raw materials or in production of the so-called activated carbons (AC) is an important issue. Because, it is apparent from our literature review that the main factors characterizing these materials are the inexpensiveness, the local availability and their efficiencies in removal of heavy metals and dyes from contaminated water. A number of different agricultural by-product/wastes as renewable and potential sources for green adsorbent production has been listed in this review. Additionally, the paper has provided the reader with an overview of a number of case studies which were conducted by scientists and researchers. These case studies have pointed out to the efficient removal of SD/HM ions from aqueous solutions by the agricultural by-products/wastes in the form of a raw material, spent tea leaves (STL), spent coffee ground(SCG), and rice husk (RH) wastes were selected as a good examples. Besides, the efficient removal of such ions by AC produced from the same raw materials has been also reviewed. Both kinds are widely used adsorbents in the treatment of wastewaters. High adsorption capacity, cost effectiveness, and environmentally friendly, and their abundance in nature are the important factors which explain why the adsorbent materials derived from an agricultural by-product/wastes is economical for the removal of dye and metal ions from contaminated water. Comparison of different technologies of wastewater treatment especially heavy metals and dyes were also listed in this review

Water pollution is one of the environmental challenges facing the world society. Consequently, the pollutants both domestic and industrial wastewater are identified as an environmental threat. Hydrochar (HC) appears as a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution to this environmental threat. HC is the solid produced from the wet pyrolysis process for biomass that is rich in carbon in a sub-critical liquid phase, called the Hydro-Thermal Carbonization Process (HTC). This review aims to address the possibility of using HC as the most effective solution to the industrial wastewater. HTC has proven a greater yield than dry pyrolysis (30%-60% wt). To date, HC is listed as a promising lower-cost alternate adsorbent for removing wastewater pollutants. In Egypt for example, only few studies have been published investigating the properties of HC and its environmental applications. In this review, we will shed light on the preparation, characterization, and previous studies on the development and recent applications of HC. In addition, we will discuss the challenges to produce HC at a commercial scale. To the best of our knowledge, there is only few research studies addressing the HC production in the Middle East countries. Therefore, the door is still opened for more research on developing production techniques on HC from different biomass, and implementation in various environmental applications

Biogas from biomass appears as an alternative source of energy, which is potentially enriched in biomass resources. This article gives an overview of present and future use of biomass as an industrial feedstock for production of fuels, chemicals and other materials. However, to be truly competitive in an open market situation, higher value products are required. Results suggest that biogas technology must be encouraged, promoted, invested, implemented, and demonstrated, but especially in remote rural areas. Different types of wastes are used for production of biogas .these wastes are found very easy and an every palace. This article helps to make biogas form different wastes. From this study, it can be concluded that this method not only contributed to renewable biogas production but also improved the effluent quality
Multidrug resistance pattern of bacteria isolated from domestic and tannery w...iosrjce
The objective of this study was to screen for the microorganisms in the domestic wastes and tannery
effluents and characterize it’s antibiogram to know the prevalence of resistant pathogens. A total of 109 isolates
of 16 different genera were isolated from 38 samples by aerobic culture method. Fourteen and ninety-five
isolates were obtained from six domestic wastes and 32 tannery waste samples, respectively. The isolates
belonged to the genus Micrococcus (18.3%), Alcaligens (15.6%), Staphylococcus (11.0%), Enterobacter (4.6%),
Shigella (14.7%), Klebsiella (6.4%), Haemophilus (4.6%), Citrobacter (3.7%), Actinobacillus (3.7%),
Escherichia (4.6%), Corynebacterium (4.6%) and others (8.2%). It was interesting to notice that most of the
isolates were Gram-negative bacillus (63.3%) and few were Gram-positive cocci (36.7%). Pathogenic
microorganisms from domestic wastes and tannery effluents have been identified and reported. Most of the
isolates were resistant to chloramphenicol, nalidixic acid, nitrofurontoin and cefixime. Levofloxacin and
imipenem were effective against 108 (99.5%) of the isolates. Multi drug resistance was observed in most of the
isolates. Some isolates were found in both domestic and tannery waste samples, but their antibiotic resistance
patterns were not similar. Serratia spp. and two Bacillus spp. with different antibiogram pattern were found only in tannery waste samples. The significant number of Multiple Antibiotic Resistant (MAR) bacteria was observed in both the samples. Human infections caused by these bacteria could be difficult to treat with available drugs.

Colored effluent discharged by industrial processes into surface water bodies negatively affects aquatic, human, and animal life, which is a major global concern. To reduce the detrimental effects of dye wastewater on the environment, it should be treated before its disposal. Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
