Sins In The Help, By Kathryn Stockett
In the movie The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, sins are prevalent primarily prejudice takes place against
the dark skinned members of society. The Help is set in the south of the United States in 1962,
portraying the lives of black maids and the white women who employ them. The movie is full of sins
including sins of commission, sins of omission, mortal sins, venial sins, and sinful social structures. At
the beginning of the movie, we immediately encounter a sin of commission. Mae Mobley, a young
two year old, is physically abused and neglected by her mother, Elizabeth. In one scene, Elizabeth
strikes her daughter for sitting on a black person s toilet. Sins of commission are sins we commit by
doing something we shouldn t do. It s the type of sin we are most familiar with. The poor young girl is
treated so poorly for simply no reason. Elizabeth recognizes what she is doing is wrong yet continues
to do so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the movie, Skeeter recognized the racism around her was wrong yet never spoke out.
She experienced pressure from her friends and didn t want to be ridiculed. She wrote the book, The
Help, which included stories of the black servants yet she did not have the courage to say anything to
her friends. When Hilly was rude to Aibileen Skeeter she did not say anything until the end of the
film. The book was also written under someone else s name. Skeeter wasn t the only one at fault for
this sin. Failing to help others is a perfect example of sins of

However because of the drop in value of the Malaysian ringgit, foreign customers would be able to
afford to spend more money on travelling. Low cost carriers may also take advantage of the cheaper
oil prices and lower their airfare to attract more customers, both local and international.
Technological Change
Airbus claimed that its latest aircraft, A330neo had been upgraded and it would be as fuel efficient as
Boeing s new 787 Dreamliner (Business Insider, 2014). This is an important advancement in
technology because 33% of the operating costs of airlines was spent on fuel (Air Transport Action
Group, 2014).
An advance in aircraft technology that reduced fuel consumption reduced the total operating costs of
the plane. The more fuel efficient an aircraft was, the bigger the distance travelled by that particular
aircraft with a set amount of fuel. This allowed an airline to expand its network and consider routes
that they were unable to consider before. However technology evolved quickly and if a better aircraft
is launched soon after an airline has bought the previous version, the previous version would most
probably become obsolete in a short period of time. In addition to that, there was a high possibility
that the start up cost of buying new aircrafts could be a cost burden in the short term.
Political Change
The ASEAN Open Skies policy was implemented earlier this year (ASEAN Briefing,

Comparison between London and Atlanta Based Airlines
How would the two airlines (London based and Atlanta based) be more reactive to the requirements of
the patrons while upholding equally operational efficiency and effectiveness?
Areas of concern
1. Environment. Clients have a higher standard on the London based airline because of its past
performance for an exceptional service. Similarly, clients also presume that the high cost incurred
should be recompensed by superb provisions.
2. Information technology structure. Bearing in mind the facts provided in the case, McPherson made
a few suppositions that the airline flying to London should have acknowledged him from their
computer as a short timed linking passenger, and that considering the premium price he paid for his

the hydraulic system leaks should be watched closely in the near future to find out why this
mechanical problem occurred and the origin of the problem needs to be identified.
In an effort to rise to the customers expectations of superior customer service, a cross reference
customer data base should be implemented with shared information. A possible color coded system
that would enable the airline agents and attendance as to the customers amount of travel is it a
business trip or leisure, main time of travel per year etc. All of this gathered customer data base
information would be beneficial if multiple parties throughout the airline had access to in in order to
follow up on any and all concerns of customer needs and specifications.
Assessment Criteria for Performance enhancement
The following are the suggested criteria in assessing the performance of airlines:
1. Operational accuracy. The planes departure and arrival times must be closely monitored in order to
maintain accuracy and adjust any unnecessary delays. Time is of the essence to the majority of
travelers, their travel plans are well thought out in advance and accuracy needs to be of the utmost
importance. If and when there is a delay in arrival or departure other than factors beyond the airlines
control, they should to be logged in and noted.
2. Quality control of mechanical equipment and facilities. Mechanical quality control records should
be updated

The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method
Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental
approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in which the
child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no relationship between
the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply
organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach
rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is mathematically reasonable,
proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This progression is, however, very
difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically
speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also
causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major scale.
According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six tones and cannot
produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the child development approach of the
Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns that align with the sequence of normal
child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child
related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter

Marcus Tullius Cicero s Speeches
Throughout the ages, leaders have spoken out during times of crisis to try and unite people. Marcus
Tullius Cicero and George W. Bush are no exception to this trope. In Cicero s first speech against
Catiline, he related the horrible crimes Catiline was planning to commit. During his tenure in office,
Bush experienced a terrorist event on September 11, 2001, when the world trade center had been
destroyed, and he addressed Congress on this matter nine days later. While Cicero s speech entails an
event that was foiled, Bush s speech provides facts and support in the aftermath of a traumatic
situation. In this essay, I am going to compare the rhetorical devices implemented by both individuals,
how they are able to develop their arguments, and some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cicero and Bush have analogous ethos and pathos, as they were both leaders in their communities, and
their listeners would have been shocked to hear about the events entailed in both of their speeches.
Cicero and Bush also have different perspectives in their arguments. Cicero relies on his first hand
experience in the matter, as Catiline planned to kill him. This allows him to connect with his audience
on a personal level. Meanwhile, Bush did not have to convince his audience that an event was going to
take place. Instead, he was able to put blame on a specific group for the terrorist act, and provide
information about their tactics and connections. This strategy works to inform the public about
possible future dangers. The strategies that Cicero and Bush employ in their language diverge as well.
Cicero tends to repeat words with negative connotations, so that it would be ingrained in people s
minds, while Bush tends to use simpler language that everyone can understand. However, they both
use questions in their speeches to switch ideas and catch the attention of their listeners. They also both
employ opposing language in their speeches to distinguish right from wrong. While these two
individuals both address disturbing historical events in their speeches, they present their material in
the most effective way to suit their

Martin Seligman s Exploration Of Learned Helplessness,...
The world of science consistently generates new studies in various fields, yielding results that can
revolutionize society and shine light on the world we know so very little about. However, it is easy to
get lost in specific studies and view each one as its own, independent discovery. And while each
experiment provides an important look into the complexities of this world, science is an amalgamation
of many discoveries strung together in complex ways. This way, the merits of each study can
interrelate in order to further understand something else. In the realm of positive psychology, it is
important that a number of different scientific discoveries work together to explain an overarching
topic. For example, two studies that are interrelated are Martin Seligman s exploration of learned
helplessness, and Roy Baumeister s study on willpower depletion. Both are important in their own
rights, but by comparing both Seligman and Baumeister s experiments, scientists can discuss the
overarching concept of willpower as a depletable resource. Psychologist Martin Seligman conducted
an experiment that aimed to understand more about classical conditioning. In his study, he rang a bell
and lightly shocked a dog. Eventually, if the dog heard the bell, it would react to the shock before it
even happened. This was all good, it was a great example of classical conditioning, but the truly
interesting part of the study came later. Seligman constructed a box with a small wall in the middle.

account for 2.5% of Florida s gross domestic product about 18.2 billion dollars in annual economic
activity as well. Disney, as we all may know is one of Florida s greatest attractions. For instance
according to the Disney Blog What Disney saw in 2008 was those who drove tended to stay in
Orlando a day or two longer on average. But they didn t travel as frequently throughout the year,
rather they saved it up for one long vacation. This means that the number of visitors to the parks only
declines slightly, and it also tends to spread the visits out over the whole year. That s the pattern we
saw in 2008 and 2009 and the pattern we re seeing now. Disney world at Florida offers jobs and

Ky-Nos Castle Analysis
The Hauntings of Craig Y Nos Castle in Wales
By Claire Barrand
Craig Y Nos Castle which in Welsh, means Rock of the Night, Maintains a reputation as the Most
Haunted Castle in Wales, having been visited by Most Haunted, alongside numerous other TV shows
which have also filmed at the castle. My sister Linzi and I have investigated this location together
twice and have not been disappointed, in fact, we would have to say this location is in our top three for
paranormal activity!
The Early Years
The history itself is epic enough to inspire a Hollywood feature film. The story begins in 1840 when
the neo gothic castle, set beside the River Tawe on the edge of the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, was
built by an ambitious Captain Rice Davies. Using local limestone to form the impressive structure he
got carried away with turrets and pyramids and ran out of money being unable to complete the north
wing before moving in in 1843 to begin his life as a country gentleman.
Davies became a county magistrate and a High Sheriff of Brecknock. However, rumours of a curse on
the family spread as misfortune fell upon the family when his younger son died of cholera in 1851,
and he lost both his wife and his daughter to illness before he died in 1862.
Two years later, his Davies son died in a hunting accident on the Isle of Wight. Sarah, the eldest
daughter, and her husband Captain Allaway lived at the castle after his death, until disaster struck once
more and the Captain also died a few years later. His widow relocated to Tenby, and the property sold
in 1875 76, purchased by the Morgan family of Abercrave for Ā£6000.
The Adelina Patti Years
In 1878, the castle and its setting attracted the attentions of the leading opera star of that day Italian
Adelina Patti, who announced that she had found the home of her dreams and an offer of Ā£3500
accepted for the castle and surrounding parkland.
A demanding soprano with a colourful private life, she was said to have had numerous affairs
including one with the tenor Mario. The prima donna was the at the peak of her spectacular career and
desired to spend the rest of her life at Craig y nos. She built an incredible private theatre which held

Atkins Diet Effects
Living in a world that seeks instant gratification, losing weight quickly rather than safely seems to be
more important. This is one of the reasons that high protein, low carbohydrate diets such as the Atkins
diet are so popular. The Atkins diet claims that by consuming less carbohydrates, the body will burn
fat including body fat to use as fuel. As a cardiologist, Dr. Robert Atkins, the creator of the Atkins diet,
claimed this diet was completely safe. However, he does not explain the effects of the diet that go
beyond simply weight loss. The Atkins diet can have many negative health effects in the long term.
The way that the Atkins diet works is by forcing your body to used fat as fuel rather than glucose, the
body s preferred fuel source.

Big Fish Quotes
Big Fish produced by Tim Burton consist of much spiritual significance. For example, one might think
the fish was a symbol of Christianity, because of the Jesus fish that we often see on bumper stickers,
but there is one true spiritual significance. The one true spiritual significance that sticks out the most is
the Christ like figure. Edward Bloom, the main character represents the Christ like figure in this film.
Like Jesus, Edward Bloom is a storyteller who tells the stories of his father. Storytelling is a strong
trait that is used in every conversation today. In the film, a quote says A man tells stories so many
times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him and he becomes immortal. essentially this
quote is saying that

First Bank of the United States
The First Bank of the United States
The Bank of the United States was designed to make money and build an economy. It was designed by
men like Alexander Hamilton and Robert Morris, but did not benefit the common citizen as much as
wealthy investors. Why did a fledgling government need to borrow millions from overseas in order to
invest in a national bank, to turn around and then borrow the same money back and pay interest on it?
The banking system developed by Alexander Hamilton and Robert Morris was prime pickings for
speculators, and laid the groundwork for a history of unscrupulous activity regarding our nation s
money supply that continues to this day. The signatures on the Constitution were barely dry before

Men thus enriched by the dexterity of a leader, would follow of course the chief who was leading
them to fortune, and become the zealous instruments of all his enterprises.
Jefferson commented on these events long after his passions over them had cooled. Indeed, by 1818
the first Bank of the United States had come and gone. He felt that the actions of the speculators for
the sole purpose of personal greed were reprehensible, and that the architect of the situation
(Hamilton) was very much responsible for the fleecing of the public.
At this time the government was funding its debt through private banks such as the Bank of North
America and the Bank of New York. Not satisfied with the structure of American banking, Hamilton
reported to Congress the need to establish a National Bank in December of 1790. The Senate created a
committee to study Hamilton s proposal. On the committee were men who shared Hamilton s ideas in
fiscal matters, and that of a strong federal government. One of the members, General Schuyler, was
Hamilton s father in law. It was of no surprise that a bill arose out of the committee supporting
Hamilton s plan to incorporate a Bank of the United States.
Objection to the bill was strenuous. Opponents argued that the incorporation of a national bank might
have deleterious effects on the economy, and wondered whether or

Drosophilid Flies Research Paper
Environmental conditions are sometimes appropriate for the evolution of numerous species from a
common ancestor. Evolutionary, or adaptive, radiations happen when a large number of species
descend from one lineage. This phenomenon usually occurs when a population of one species
colonizes an area with many available ecological niches and when the rate of speciation is greater than
the rate of extinction in a given area. Adaptive radiations have historically taken place after mass
extinctions and on newly formed island archipelagos, because these incidences create conditions
where new species can fill open ecological niches. Unlike the mainland, ecological niches are
available on new island systems. These island species adapt to new environments ... Show more

For example, the silverswords are a diverse group of plants that occur in Hawaii. They occur in many
forms, such as herbs, vines and trees, and in many habitats, such as at sea level to mountainous.
However, their closest mainland relative is a small herb that occurs in the Pacific Northwest. It lacks
the diversity that the Hawaiian silverswords have. Hawaiian drosophilid flies also provide an excellent
example of adaptive radiation. There are around 800 species of drosophilid flies in Hawaii, and it is
thought that they descended from one species of fly that colonized a Hawaiian island. In fact, it is
possible that they speciated from a single fertilized female who was transported to Hawaii millions of
years ago. Subsequently, subsets of the original drosophilid fly population were transported to other
islands and speciated there as well. Scientists believe that the Hawaiian drosophilid speciation is still
occurring. For instance, different populations of one species of fly that occur in forest habitat patches
have different numbers of hairs on their forelegs, and these hairs are used in mating rituals. If these
differences cause the fly populations to not interbreed they may lead to further

Woodblock Printing During The Tokugawa Period
During the Tokugawa or Edo period, the arts flourished, especially a certain art style called woodblock
prints. Woodblock printing originated in China as a method to mass produce texts. When the
technology migrated to Japan, they used it to produce copies of the same picture quickly. The process
involved laying the same print over different woodblocks to add layers to the image and create a
complete picture. This process was time consuming and took a lot of skill to master since you had to
lay the paper precisely every time. Because of this, the prints were usually expensive and mainly
owned by royalty and the upper class. The prints usually depicted the everyday life of both
commoners and nobility. The woodblock prints of the Tokugawa period ... Show more content on

This print is an image of female touts, someone who solicits businesses, dragging travellers into their
teahouse. In the image we can see a traveler already sitting just outside the teahouse and a woman
cleaning his feet. From this we can interpret that the people were very clean and sanitary because she
is ridding his feet of grime before entering the tea house, or that they were religious. In Shintoism, one
of the main beliefs is in a form of ritual purification stating that you should wash yourself to prevent
bad spirits from entering somewhere, in this case, the teahouse. The other thing we can analyze from
this print is that despite the fact that it was a male dominated society, the women did have quite a bit
of power. In the previous paragraph, we could see that men were the dominant sex, but in some cases,
women did have power over men and that they had some power in general, especially compared to
other cultures at the time. In the print, we can see women literally dragging travelers into their
teahouse, which shows they did had some dominance and power over a man. We can also see this
because the teahouse seems to be run and owned by only women, which tells us that women had
enough power and rights to run their own business without a man telling them what to do and how to

Achieving Six National Education Goals
According to President Bush, he made an announcement on April 18, 1991 that he wanted to achieve
six national education goals by the year 2000. There are six objectives: 1. Make sure every student is

for all core subjects. 4. Make sure that a student have achieved in the math and science 5. To ensure

I would emphasize Birthright s goal of exploring a person s Jewish identity, which doesn t necessarily
mean being religious at all. It is about finding what Judaism means to you, whether that is culturally,
spiritually, or even as simple as something that your ancestors took a part of. I would also highlight
the friendships you make with the people you meet and go on the trip with, which last far beyond the

that links them to a broader community of amazing people that they otherwise may never be able to

The Kālāmas is the people of the Kesuputta. They were visited by two kinds of people. Who are these

creatures are able to find methods of growing and transforming, despite unusual arrangements or
lifestyle. Throughout the novel, in the chapters The One to Get Away and Dream Angels the use of
motifs are greatly emphasized. Rebirth is one of the two important motifs, as the pattern of life and
death is repeated in the novel. Frequently, this theme is connected with dualities: when one member of
a pair passes, the other gains life force. Newt Hardbine represents as some sort of double for Taylor, in
the chapter The One to Get Away . For example, in school, people could barely tell them different
from each other, and their lives appeared to move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dried up seed that, once buried, becomes a living thing, symbolizes her own life experience. For
instance, the night blooming cereus that Edna Poppy brings, which appears up on page 240, to Taylor
and Lou Ann before Taylor makes her trip to Oklahoma serves as an indicator, representing the
transient quality to the characters chances. The wisteria vines speak to the cooperative connections
that predominant the novel, and most importantly, the development of bean trees speaks to the
development of Turtle Greer and her development all through the novel. Bean, (128) Turtle s first
word, symbolizes the guarantee that, similar to a dried up seed that grows, an emotionally or
physically wounded woman may flourish if sufficiently given consideration. The bean trees, another
name for the wisteria vine that Turtle spots in Dog Doo Park, symbolize change, a spot of life amidst
infertility. The bean trees have a cooperative association with bugs called rhizobia, which climb up
and down the wisteria vine s roots and give a system that transfer nutrients. This mutual aid
symbolizes the assistance and adoration individuals give each other. The bean trees, similar to
individuals, thrive with a system of support. Taylor s interest with seeds and vegetables is also an
example of of the cycle of eternal rest and new

Exposing the Truth in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong Essay
Exposing the Truth in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong
Dear Mom and Dad: The war that has taken my life, and many thousands of others before me, is
immoral, unlawful, and an atrocity, (letter of anonymous soldier qtd. In Fussell 653).
Tim O Brien, a Vietnam war vet, had similar experiences as the soldier above. Even though O Brien
didn t die, the war still took away his life because a part of him will never be the same. Even in 1995,
almost thirty years after the war, O Brien wrote, Last night suicide was on my mind. Not whether, but
how. Tonight it will be on my mind again... I sit in my underwear at this unblinking fool of a computer

Calley and Charlie Company, we find out that the truth was worse than the stories. From the facts
from the trial, we learn that there were anywhere from 343 504 fatalities and. that [t]he crimes visited
on the inhabitants of Son My Village included individual and group acts of murder, rape, sodomy,
maiming, assault on noncombatants and the mistreatment and killing of detainees, ( Col. Wilson as qtd
in Vietnam 562). You might think that what happened in My Lai was the worst of it all, but O Brien
says that, Wreckage was the rule. Brutality was S.O.P. (566). Because the war was so confusing and
because the soldiers couldn t tell who the enemy was, many felt that, the army had no solution but to
kill people, uniformed or not, old or young, male or female, proven Viet Cong or not, (Fussell 654). To
me this is how some tried to justify killing but still some just couldn t make themselves feel as if they
were justified.
The result of this guilt for the soldiers, psychologically, is that some of them seemed to go insane. For
instance, at the trial, one of the soldiers of Charlie Company, Paul Meadlo said this about why he
killed; he thought that the babies and children might attack: [t]hey might have had a fully loaded
grenade on them. The mothers might have throwed them at us (Vietnam 563). For some soldiers, their
reaction was more like this:

Code Switching Of English In Bollywood
Research Question 3 How English is used in Bollywood films ? 1.Code switching with English in the
Indian situation English in Bollywood frequently takes the form of code switching. In a bilingual
speech community, speakers tend to mix words, phrases, clauses and sentences when they
communicate with others. They are able to switch linguistically built upon different situations. When
two languages are expressed in this way, they differ remarkable from the same languages as spoken in
their separate social systems. This kind of interference on the discourse level is known as code
switching (Malhotra, S. 1980). Since 1957, English was spoken by upper and middle social class in
India for social and economic reasons and then it gradually became a symbol of higher social status.

He had spent time in Thebes as a hostage and gained military knowledge from the work of
Epaminondas, one of the greatest generals of the day ( Philip II ). He armed his military with a sarissa,
a pike that, at about 16 feet long, had a greater reach than Greek weapons ( Philip II ). This weapon

Alexander (35). Soon after Alexander returns, Philip is offered a proposal of marriage between his

Alexander has just returned to the empire and does not want to create a new rift with Philip so he

Online Education Is A Type Of Distance Learning
Online education is a type of distance learning. The student is taking courses without attending a
school or university. Instead, online students and teachers interact over the Internet. Online classes can
teach students educational responsibility. By forcing them to access the online portal to participate in
reading the textbook/lectures and doing the assignments. Technical abilities are also learned with
online classes. Students who lack the tech savvy knowledge can learn how to navigate through the
online environment. Being able to access the online portal at any given time of the day is one other
benefit to online education. Though online education may seem beneficial, there are more negatives

There is a lot of poor communication in online classes. There will be students who will never email
the instructors for more details about an assignment, or, there will be older students who don t know
how to email the instructors for more details. If the student doesn t understand an assignment, and
never emails to ask for more details, can result in a poor grade for the lack of knowledge in knowing
what they re doing. There s one final drawback to not having social interactions with instructors;
Students can potentially miss out on building relationships that can result in helpful guidance and
recommendation letters down the road when needed. Students who are prone to procrastination will
have a difficult time adjusting to online classes. Hours of work are necessary to get through all of the
materials, including course lectures, educational videos, assignments, projects, assigned textbook
reading and discussions. For students who are getting an online degree, especially an online master s
degree, require a greater amount of work. The positive of online classes is being able to access the

pleasure of the instructor reading/lecturing the textbook material out loud won t be there. It takes time

Immigration In The Framing of Immigration, George Lakoff and Sam Ferguson believe that issue
defining framing is narrowing, particularly in the case of immigration reform. Immigration reform,

economic, and social concerns. The paper relies on the warrant that undocumented immigrants
deserve equal rights, which can be seen sdkjs. The authors insures that their claim is easily understood

from the text. First, because these headings are in bold, readers know that the ideas are important and
central. This is because bold letters mean that something is important and needs to be focused on. In
fact, many people exclusively read headings before diving into a paper further. That why if people are

Slavery Race And Ideology Summary
Throughout history, the word race has changed across cultures. It s been used to classify humans in a
variety of ways such as traits and behaviors. There is no gene in our human body that can define what
race we are. But in today s society people categorize individuals
According to Barba Fields, racism is an action, not an attitude, bigotry or prejudice . It s clear that
racism is an action you take to treat the other as a minority and with differences. Individuals shouldn t
be judging others just because of their skin complexion, or because they have longer hair than the next
person. Another point that Field states is, people were being targeted because of their skin color . For
instance, every Country has inhabitants of different skin complexion and maybe speak different
languages, different hair textures, etc. The whiter skin complexion discriminates the darker skin
complexion because they re darker; and will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, she mentions the error people makes by believing that race is a physical feature rather than
being genetic. In reality, race was created to make people think they re superior to others because of
their background or maybe their skin complexion or their characteristics (how they look outside).
Field states that, when virtually the whole society, including supposedly thoughtful, educated,
intelligent person, commits itself to belief in propositions that collapse into absurdity upon the
slightest examination, the reason is not hallucination or delusion or even simple hypocrisy; rather it is
ideology. And ideology is impossible for anyone to analyse rationally who remains trapped on its
terrain. It s clear that society has taken race to the next level and people have used it as a description
of pressure. People grow into the society with the idea of that the whiter you are the better your life

Narration is a big part of this reflection Dave inserts a lot of stories to lead through his explanations of
the guy compared to the man as well as women in some cases. While reading for the first time you
notice that this is not the usual dry kind of writing Dave engages you with another story every time
you might start to stray you re attention away. The first example for narration is as he is suggesting

In 2013, 10,076 people were killed in drunk driving incidents. Out of those people, 65% (6,515) were
drivers, 27% (2,724) were passengers, and 8% (837) were non passengers ( Drunk Driving Statistics ).
Over half of those fatalities (67.1%) involved blood alcohol levels over .15% ( Drunk Driving
Statistics ). The legal blood alcohol content is .08%. Drunk driving caused 31% of deaths in car
crashes in 2013 ( Drunk Driving Statistics ). In 2012, 402 people were killed by alcohol impairment in
North Carolina ( Drunk Driving Statistics ). These numbers, though they seem astonishing, have been
cut in half since 1991 ( Drunk Driving Statistics ). Even though the number of fatalities has been
lowered, that number is not low enough. Most drunk drivers are repeat offenders. Lives are being
taken because of the careless attitude of the drunk drivers. Drunk driving is selfish; those who commit
this crime do not think about the extreme consequences of their actions. In North America it is
estimated that 1 5 drivers has been drinking and 1 in 10 is legally impaired on any Friday or Saturday
night (Root). Many groups, including MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), are fighting to stop
drunk driving. Unfortunately, drunk driving cannot be stopped. People will always commit this
heinous crime. The numbers may go down, but unfortunately there will always be a number. The only
way to continually decrease the amount of lives lost is to increase punishments for drunk driving.

Indigenous Australian Literature Analysis
The cultural representation of Indigenous Australians within Australia are heavily influences by what
is portrayed in today s Literature. Indigenous Australians get a rather bad wrap in literature, which has
produced negative stereotype towards Indigenous Australians as being primitive, uneducated, drunks,
violent, lazy and lacking complex laws, society organisation and cultural diversity (Kroff, J. 2017).
These stereotypes have derived from historical inaccuracies about Indigenous Australians in literature
and furthermore affected the representation of present day Aboriginals and Torres Straight Islanders in
Australia. Overall many non Indigenous Australians state a positive attitude towards Indigenous
Australians, but still, three out of four Indigenous Australians claim to have experienced racism
(ANTaR, 2012). Therefore, these stereotypes are producing negatives impacts towards Indigenous
Australians and will furthermore have the potential to impact on children, teachers and the teaching
profession.
The portrayal Indigenous Australians within literature can be broken down into three man offender.
Firstly, it had been depicted historically inaccurate images about Indigenous Australian, most
commonly presenting Aboriginals cultural are static and unchanging. The literature surrounding
Aboriginal historical, social and political parameters have taken place within an expansive regime of
the colonial enterprise in order to sustain the foundation myth of settlement

Reverse Discrimination Case Study
In the 1960s, a flurry of laws were enacted pertaining to equal employment opportunities to protect
minorities and eradicate the pervasive discrimination that existed in the work force. Title VII of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964 being the broadest of these laws, prohibited discriminatory hiring practices
based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin (Gomez Mejia, Balkin Cardy, 2016). As a result of
these laws, members of the majority classes have also come to apply for the protection of these laws
as the nontraditional victims in what is known as reverse discrimination. Zachary (2016) explains that
reverse discrimination occurs when an individual who is a member of a non protected class is

Zachary (2016) explains that race, for example, is not supposed to be a factor in employment
decisions or conditions according to Title VII (p.18). In contrast to the protection of no characteristics
such as gender, race, or national origin being considered in employment decisions, the proactive
efforts of affirmative action appear. According to Gomez Mejia, Balkin and Cardy (2016), under
affirmative action government contractors, for example, are required to have plans in place to
eliminate any underutilization of protected group members (p. 174), and therefore, employment
choices are made based on these distinctions, which in reality causes reverse discrimination. One of
the key differences between the U.S. and other countries in its attempt to manage diversity is through
quotas, as many Asian and European countries have embraced (Turner Suflas, 2014). These authors
also relay that albeit U.S. law which declares quotas illegal as stated in Title VII, a new law
established in 2014 via the Federal Contract Compliance Program does in fact establish goals for the

Education, Gender Roles And Humanism
Education, Gender Roles and Humanism in the Renaissance. Throughout the fourteenth and into the
fifteenth century there were a number of tragic events that directly caused a revitalization of society.
This revitalization was needed to restore hope to the people that were living each day for survival.
Some of these events were the destabilization of the Catholic Church with the relocation of the papacy
from Rome to Avignon. This would soon be followed by the Black Death and its mammoth death toll
that lead to the reduction of work forces and uprisings of peasants . At the same time England and
France were fighting a series of wars that were later be deem The Hundred Years War and this battle
would add to a western mindset that was being cultivated to expect death, destruction, violence,
sickness and poverty. In the midst of this depressing and violent society, Italy and more specifically
Florence, saw a need for change and to work towards the elevation of society, the creation of a new
society, and a new mindset to bring about a more civil and cultured society. This lead to a new
philosophy called Humanism and this Humanistic evolution of the educational system involved a total
reconstruction of the university curriculum, as well as the resetting ideals of gender roles. In the
beginning of this new society there was a great admiration for classic Roman culture and this was the
model being used with a great focus on the arts, philosophy, religion, and honor. The

Prince Caspian By Cs Lewis Analysis
In C.S Lewis s book Prince Caspian, he uses this idea of re enchantment. Throughout the book, he
talks about the past. How things used to be in the times of old, and how they are different now. Re
enchantment is the idea of going back to the old way of thinking. People now of days have a sort of
disconnect with the world around them. They are less enchanted or less aware or connected with
things in nature (Taylor). Lewis talks about this in his novel. He brings up several occasions where
characters are thinking about, going back to, or being taught about the past. Lewis also brings up both
sides of the argument. There are groups of people who don t want to go back to the enchanted times.
They want to move forward in thinking and acting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person, while they should want to be connected with nature, should not lose their connection with
religion. That is why Lewis puts the Greek Figure Bacchus in his stories. Bacchus brings with him a
large entourage and parting. A symbol of the joy in re enchantment. One of the girls that Lewis rights
about, Susan, notices this and says, I wouldn t have felt safe with Bacchus and all his wild girls if we d
met them without Aslan (339). Aslan is a symbol of Jesus in all of Lewis s stories. In The Lion the
Witch, and the Wardrobe, Aslan is sacrificed on a stone table, as Jesus is sacrificed on the cross for our
sins; Now I will kill you instead of him as our pact was and so the Deep Magic will be appeased
(181). Lewis wants people to grow their relationship with nature but he does not want them to lose
their relationship with God. He does not want them to replace their love for God with their new love
for nature. What he actually wants re enchantment to do is to bring people closer to God. Bacchus, for
example, is good to be around and enjoy a party. But if Aslan was not there it would be not safe. God

Low cost carriers may also take advantage of the cheaper oil prices and lower their airfare to attract more customers, both local and international. Technological Change Airbus claimed that its latest aircraft, A330neo had been upgraded and it would be as fuel efficient as Boeing s new 787 Dreamliner (Business Insider, 2014). This is an important advancement in technology because 33% of the operating costs of airlines was spent on fuel (Air Transport Action Group, 2014). An advance in aircraft technology that reduced fuel consumption reduced the total operating costs of the plane. The more fuel efficient an aircraft was, the bigger the distance travelled by that particular aircraft with a set amount of fuel. This allowed an airline to expand its network and consider routes that they were unable to consider before. However technology evolved quickly and if a better aircraft is launched soon after an airline has bought the previous version, the previous version would most probably become obsolete in a short period of time. In addition to that, there was a high possibility that the start up cost of buying new aircrafts could be a cost burden in the short term. Areas of concern 1. Environment. Clients have a higher standard on the London based airline because of its past performance for an exceptional service. Similarly, clients also presume that the high cost incurred should be recompensed by superb provisions. 2. Information technology structure. • 7. The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in which the child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no relationship between the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is mathematically reasonable, proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This progression is, however, very difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major scale. According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six tones and cannot produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the child development approach of the Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns that align with the sequence of normal child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During his tenure in office, Bush experienced a terrorist event on September 11, 2001, when the world trade center had been destroyed, and he addressed Congress on this matter nine days later. Cicero and Bush have analogous ethos and pathos, as they were both leaders in their communities, and their listeners would have been shocked to hear about the events entailed in both of their speeches. Cicero and Bush also have different perspectives in their arguments. Cicero relies on his first hand experience in the matter, as Catiline planned to kill him. This allows him to connect with his audience on a personal level. Meanwhile, Bush did not have to convince his audience that an event was going to take place. Instead, he was able to put blame on a specific group for the terrorist act, and provide information about their tactics and connections. This strategy works to inform the public about possible future dangers. The strategies that Cicero and Bush employ in their language diverge as well. Cicero tends to repeat words with negative connotations, so that it would be ingrained in people s minds, while Bush tends to use simpler language that everyone can understand. However, they both use questions in their speeches to switch ideas and catch the attention of their listeners. The world of science consistently generates new studies in various fields, yielding results that can revolutionize society and shine light on the world we know so very little about. However, it is easy to get lost in specific studies and view each one as its own, independent discovery. And while each experiment provides an important look into the complexities of this world, science is an amalgamation of many discoveries strung together in complex ways. This way, the merits of each study can interrelate in order to further understand something else. In the realm of positive psychology, it is important that a number of different scientific discoveries work together to explain an overarching topic. For example, two studies that are interrelated are Martin Seligman s exploration of learned helplessness, and Roy Baumeister s study on willpower depletion. Both are important in their own rights, but by comparing both Seligman and Baumeister s experiments, scientists can discuss the overarching concept of willpower as a depletable resource. Psychologist Martin Seligman conducted an experiment that aimed to understand more about classical conditioning. In his study, he rang a bell and lightly shocked a dog. Eventually, if the dog heard the bell, it would react to the shock before it even happened. This was all good, it was a great example of classical conditioning, but the truly interesting part of the study came later. Seligman constructed a box with a small wall in the middle. ... My sister Linzi and I have investigated this location together twice and have not been disappointed, in fact, we would have to say this location is in our top three for paranormal activity! The Early Years The history itself is epic enough to inspire a Hollywood feature film. The story begins in 1840 when the neo gothic castle, set beside the River Tawe on the edge of the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, was built by an ambitious Captain Rice Davies. Using local limestone to form the impressive structure he got carried away with turrets and pyramids and ran out of money being unable to complete the north wing before moving in in 1843 to begin his life as a country gentleman. Davies became a county magistrate and a High Sheriff of Brecknock. However, rumours of a curse on the family spread as misfortune fell upon the family when his younger son died of cholera in 1851, and he lost both his wife and his daughter to illness before he died in 1862. Two years later, his Davies son died in a hunting accident on the Isle of Wight. Sarah, the eldest daughter, and her husband Captain Allaway lived at the castle after his death, until disaster struck once more and the Captain also died a few years later. His widow relocated to Tenby, and the property sold in 1875 76, purchased by the Morgan family of Abercrave for Ā£6000. The Adelina Patti Years In 1878, the castle and its setting attracted the attentions of the leading opera star of that day Italian Adelina Patti, who announced that she had found the home of her dreams and an offer of Ā£3500 accepted for the castle and surrounding parkland. He felt that the actions of the speculators for the sole purpose of personal greed were reprehensible, and that the architect of the situation (Hamilton) was very much responsible for the fleecing of the public. At this time the government was funding its debt through private banks such as the Bank of North America and the Bank of New York. Not satisfied with the structure of American banking, Hamilton reported to Congress the need to establish a National Bank in December of 1790. Evolutionary, or adaptive, radiations happen when a large number of species descend from one lineage. This phenomenon usually occurs when a population of one species colonizes an area with many available ecological niches and when the rate of speciation is greater than the rate of extinction in a given area. Adaptive radiations have historically taken place after mass extinctions and on newly formed island archipelagos, because these incidences create conditions where new species can fill open ecological niches. However, their closest mainland relative is a small herb that occurs in the Pacific Northwest. It lacks the diversity that the Hawaiian silverswords have. Hawaiian drosophilid flies also provide an excellent example of adaptive radiation. There are around 800 species of drosophilid flies in Hawaii, and it is thought that they descended from one species of fly that colonized a Hawaiian island. In fact, it is possible that they speciated from a single fertilized female who was transported to Hawaii millions of years ago. Subsequently, subsets of the original drosophilid fly population were transported to other islands and speciated there as well. Scientists believe that the Hawaiian drosophilid speciation is still occurring. If these differences cause the fly populations to not interbreed they may lead to further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Woodblock printing originated in China as a method to mass produce texts. When the technology migrated to Japan, they used it to produce copies of the same picture quickly. The process involved laying the same print over different woodblocks to add layers to the image and create a complete picture. This process was time consuming and took a lot of skill to master since you had to lay the paper precisely every time. In Shintoism, one of the main beliefs is in a form of ritual purification stating that you should wash yourself to prevent bad spirits from entering somewhere, in this case, the teahouse. The other thing we can analyze from this print is that despite the fact that it was a male dominated society, the women did have quite a bit of power. In the previous paragraph, we could see that men were the dominant sex, but in some cases, women did have power over men and that they had some power in general, especially compared to other cultures at the time. In the print, we can see women literally dragging travelers into their teahouse, which shows they did had some dominance and power over a man. There is no gene in our human body that can define what race we are. But in today s society people categorize individuals According to Barba Fields, racism is an action, not an attitude, bigotry or prejudice . It s clear that racism is an action you take to treat the other as a minority and with differences. Individuals shouldn t be judging others just because of their skin complexion, or because they have longer hair than the next person. • 39. Education, Gender Roles And Humanism Education, Gender Roles and Humanism in the Renaissance. Throughout the fourteenth and into the fifteenth century there were a number of tragic events that directly caused a revitalization of society. This revitalization was needed to restore hope to the people that were living each day for survival. Some of these events were the destabilization of the Catholic Church with the relocation of the papacy from Rome to Avignon. This would soon be followed by the Black Death and its mammoth death toll that lead to the reduction of work forces and uprisings of peasants . At the same time England and France were fighting a series of wars that were later be deem The Hundred Years War and this battle would add to a western mindset that was being cultivated to expect death, destruction, violence, sickness and poverty. In the midst of this depressing and violent society, Italy and more specifically Florence, saw a need for change and to work towards the elevation of society, the creation of a new society, and a new mindset to bring about a more civil and cultured society. This lead to a new philosophy called Humanism and this Humanistic evolution of the educational system involved a total reconstruction of the university curriculum, as well as the resetting ideals of gender roles.
