Alaska Airlines Case Analysis
Alaska Air Group, Inc. (ALK) operates as a holding company, which through its businesses, Alaska
Airlines, Horizon Air, and Virgin America, encompasses commercial aviation services. The company
was founded in 1985 with Alaska Airlines and acquired Horizon Air and Jet America Airlines in 1986.
Jet America Airlines was merged into Alaska Airlines in 1987. In December 2016, Alaska Air Group
acquired Virgin America for approximately $2.6 billion. However, until 2019, Alaska Air Group will
operate Virgin America and Alaska Airlines separately. Alaska Air Group is headquartered in Seattle,
Washington, United States.
Alaska Airlines History For over 75 years, Alaska Airlines has been guided by honesty, compassion,
originality, proficiency, and a distinctive spirit. Alaska Airlines started in 1932 as McGee Airways by
Linious Mac McGee. He painted McGee Airways on a three passenger Stinson and began flying out of
Anchorage, Alaska. In 1934, McGee combined with Star Air Service, with 22 aircraft, they became
the largest airline in Alaska. In 1937, business expanded again with the acquiring of Alaska Interior
Airlines. Later that year, McGee sold Star to one of his former pilots, Don Goodman, who renamed
the company Star Air Lines. In 1938, the Civil Aeronautics Authority (CAA) was created to regulate
airlines. In 1944, Star Air Lines changed its name to Alaska Airlines. The company grew despite a
shortage of workers during the war and cash troubles that had

Local Area Networks (LANs) Essay
Local area networks (LANs).
DEFINITION
The concept of local area networks (LANs) is not new. It represents a logical development of
computer technology. With the advent of microcomputers in the 1980s many office workers began
bringing their own disks into work, compromising data integrity. They also began keeping their own
databases, which companies did not like. The answer was to create a computer network.
A computer network is a group of computers connected together enabling users to share resources and
communicate with each other. Resources can be hardware, software, or data. Without a network, each
employee might require a dedicated printer connected to his workstation or individual copies of
application software ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost for each wireless node is generally higher than a conventional LAN node.
LAN devices
Today, LANs use sophisticated programs that permit several users to work with the same resources at
the same time. This can include hard disk drives, printers, plotters, software, etc. LANs are composed
of various components performing specific tasks so each user can access shared resources. Generally,
every component in a network is called a node. Each node is further identified by the specific task it
performs. A user s node is called a terminal or a workstation. This can be a
dumb device, meaning it has no operating system, just a monitor and keyboard, or a smart node,
meaning it can do it s own computing because of an internal central processor.
A server is a node on the network that provides services to the users of that network. A server will
manage hardware and software resources or monitor the exchange of information through a network.
Each server will respond to the requests of a user and provide a service, like printing a document or
retrieving a stored file. There are two basic types of servers: Dedicated and Non dedicated. A
dedicated server performs a specific task or function all the time where as a non dedicated server
functions in other capacities. A network with servers that are strictly dedicated is called a Client Server
Network.
A network where services are provided by user s

All American Pipeline
ALL AMERICAN PIPELINE CASE WRITE UP
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The business nature of the project pipelines affected many of our assumptions and approaches to our
calculations for our ultimate decision. The case provided two sets of cost estimates from an outside
consultant and from Goodyear after hiring a general contractor. We utilized both sets of costs that
directed us to the same decision that Goodyear should not go ahead with the Pipeline Project.
Once we obtained the UFCF, the terminal value was calculated in three different ways, treating the
pipeline as an asset on our books, finding the value of project if cash flows are received for perpetuity
an finding the annuity value of cash flows for 30 years by assuming that after 1992 cash ... Show more

We made projections and calculations using estimates of Goodyear s contractors as well as did a
sensitivity test using the data of outside consultants, and the negative NPVs of both the projects
showed that Goodyear should not go ahead with the project.
ASSUMPTIONS
Working Capital:
In the CF statement given, no separate values for working capital accounts are given so the
calculations are done assuming working capital to be 0.
Contingency:
We disregarded contingency. We did not treat it as a cash component of working capital or as a
capitalized expense because it was unclear in the case if the contingency was ever spent.
Growth:
We assume that the revenues from pipelines grow at the rate of inflation which is 5%, after reaching
capacity.
Tax credit:
We assume that Goodyear benefits from tax credits from this project and therefore the benefit is added
to the cash flows.
For calculating terminal value:
Using the Asset Method
The Depreciable PPE calculated for North American Pipeline was sum of total cap ex in 1985 and
1986 excluding the land and right of way, contingency fund. 50% of Investment tax credit was not
subtracted from the value of depreciable PPE because it does not affect the value of assets. This is
unlike the calculation done for tax purpose, as shown in Exhibit 8.
As mentioned in the case, PPE is depreciated on a straight line method for 30 years, for calculating the
remaining asset worth.
Value of land is added to the

Short Story Of Transparent Cass
transparent, Cass wanted to die. She had failed so many people by allowing Satan to ruin her life and
testimony. She was embarrassed and ashamed to face the truth. As she sat on the edge of the bed
weeping uncontrollably, she began to pray for God to spare her. She had two children that needed their
mother, regardless of her failures. Through her tears, all she could hear was this man screaming
profanities coupled with promises to kill her, her children, and her entire family. She did not pray an
eloquent prayer or speak in tongues that day. All she could say was the name that is above every name.
A name that God has elevated above his Word. His name began to run rampantly through her mind in
a small still voice. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Experiencing God class set the pace for her expectations, and she was ready to experience God
some more. She was eager to put into action her revelation. There was a timely opportunity assigned
to her upon completion of her class. She enlisted with several others and headed to Brazil for her first
foreign mission. As a child, she had a desire to travel the world to tell people about Jesus, but she
allowed the enemy to rob her of that dream. God was resurrecting the dormant dream with her first
mission trip, and she was chomping at the bits to go. Her Christian walk was lacking and she was at a
spiritual low, but God called her out to go. She remembers walking the aisle one Sunday morning after
the pastor made the trip announcement. Here am I, send me Lord, was her cry. As a single mother
experiencing the shame and defeat of three divorces, she lifted her eyes unto the hills from where her
help comes from. The accusing words of the enemy almost convinced her that she was of no further
use to the Father. How could God use someone like her? Cassandra was used merchandise. God s
people are better than her, but apparently, Satan did not know God s plan. The team was prohibited to
talk about divorce. Even more shame filled her heart at the first team meeting where the leader
advised them to not discuss divorce or anything that would appear as sin. Why was she getting to go
on this trip? Everyone else seemed flawless and perfect, the way God s people are designed to be.
However, her excitement to serve overruled her shame. They were headed to El Paraiso which
translates to Paradise in Portuguese. Cass was the most excited person on the trip. She could not sleep

Tenzing Norgay s View From The Summit Of Mt. Everest
Sir Edmund Hillary, a famous climber, wrote View From the Summit where he tells of his climb to the
summit of Mt. Everest in Nepal. Tenzing Norgay, a local climbing guide from Nepal, wrote The
Dream Comes True to tell of how he accomplished his dream of reaching the summit of Mt. Everest.
The two climbers in the stories are very different people and their accounts reflect this. First of all,
Hillary is a well known and skilled climber. He has been on many expeditions and therefore has plenty
of confidence. This is evident in his account of the Everest expedition because he sounds vain and
overconfident. Throughout the entire story, Hillary mostly talks of himself and exaggerates many
details, which makes him sound arrogant instead of looking

The Personalistic vs. the Naturalistic Viewpoint
As far back as the time when man first discovered ways to communicate with one another he has
attempted to understand and explain the course of historical events. In considering the historical
development of scientific psychology two main views of the historical progress the field of science
have emerged: personalistic theory and naturalistic theory. The personalistic theory often times called
the great man theory holds that a chosen few individuals are unique in that they are endowed with an
extraordinary inner quality giving them the ability to do extraordinary things. When applied to
scientific history it is believed that this quality allows them to shape the course of that history with
nothing more than their ideas. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It ignited a novel appeal to all kinds of machines that were being made not only for entertainment
purposes but also for use in science and industry. Machines were now becoming familiar to people
from all walks of life all over Western Europe. They were becoming an accepted way of life. The most
important of all these machines to the history of modern psychology was the mechanical clock. Clocks
at this time were sensational and amazing and had an enormous influence on human thought
throughout all of society. They captured the essence of the doctrine of mechanism which was the
underlying philosophy and the zeitgeist of the seventeenth century. The theory of mechanism held that
natural processes were mechanically determined and could be explained through the sciences of
physics and chemistry. It led the prominent thinkers to imagine and explain the universe in terms of
operating as a great machine predictable, precise, and regular. Clocks shared these same
characteristics, therefore, they became models of the universe for scientists and philosophers. One of
the most noted philosophers agreeing with this idea was Rene Descartes(1596 1650). Descartes was
born the second child in a family of two sons and one daughter on March 31, 1596 in France. He
contracted tuberculosis from his mother who died from the disease just days after his birth. At the age
of eight he was sent to a Jesuit school and was educated in

Importance of the 1832 Reform Act Essay
To what extent was the 1832 Reform
Act the most important development in politics and government between 1780 and 1832 (36)
Overall, the 1832 Reform Act was a major development in politics and government between 1780 and
1832; however it was not the most important development. It still remained significant to the growth
of the period as this was the first official governmental document on reform that was introduced and it
set a precedent for further reforms. Whilst it only removed the worst abuses in the existing system, the
Act started to make Britain more democratic. It introduced more just representation of the franchise
and made it its primary aim to demolish the majority of pocket and rotten boroughs. Nevertheless,
bribery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this was important because although there was split opinion in the reform movement, it
united the public for change in parliament which ultimately led to the government being pressured into
passing the Reform Bill.
Another relatively important issue that had a dramatic effect on the reform movement was the impact
of the French Revolution in 1789. It could be argued that this was the trigger cause of revolutionary
attitudes in Britain due to the extremity of the events occurring in the nations neighbouring country
France at the time. It caused fear among the aristocracy yet at the same time unified them as a group;
determined to resist similar moves of radicalism in Britain. However, this event occurred right at the
beginning of the period henceforth the impact of this factor gradually declined over time, rendering
this affair a less important factor on the whole.
Pitt s Repressive policies were also important in the growth of more radical movements in the country.
Pitt feared events similar to those that occurred in France would transpire within Britain and so he
imposed a great deal of policies as deterrents, discouraging the people of Britain from revolution. Due
to the harsh measures imposed on the British public at the time the public became very angry with the
government. This aggravation led to public attitudes becoming more extreme and the current upper
glass control becoming

Structure Of The Two Ketone Groups
Prednisolone
1. Structure
The two ketone groups will be sp2 hybridised and so are the carbon to carbon (C to C) double bonds.
The carbon atoms that are part of alkanes and the alcohol groups will be sp3 hybridised. There isn t
any resonance in the molecule.
2. Functional Groups
There are 3 different functional groups, excluding the alkane and cycloalkanes. There are two aliphatic
ketones and three aliphatic alcohols along with a cyclohexadiene, where one of the ketones is found.
The alcohols are secondary, tertiary and primary as you go from left to right of the molecule.
3. Conformation of prednisolone 4. Stereochemistry in prednisolone
Prednisolone has 7 chiral centres, which would give rise to 128 possible stereoisomers. There are also
two C to C double bonds, however because they are part of a ring, they wouldn t give rise to any
geometrical isomers.
5. Acidic or basic functional groups in the drug
Prednisolone is a neutral molecule. Alcohol groups are mildly acidic and could theoretically act as an
acid at a high pH, but that would happen very rarely, certainly not at physiological pH. There are no
basic groups in Prednisolone.
6. Ionisation state of the drug in the stomach (pH of 2) and blood (pH of 7.4)
Prednisolone would remain in this neutral state both at pH 2 and at pH 7.4. This is because its
strongest acid pKa is 12.59 (the tertiary alcohol; the primary and the secondary alcohols have pKa
values of 13.87 and 14.93 respectively). Hence, the hydroxyl

Essay on The American Hero
The American Hero
Every child has fantasy s of being a super hero and leaping tall buildings in a single bound or staring
death in the face everyday and somehow finding a way to escape. All of these imaginative thoughts
have been derived from the past literary works by the great writers of the early American literary
period. These early writers entered society into a world of action and adventure, where one can see
spectacular events unfolding through the eyes of a notorious man of courage and feel as though they
are defending there country or saving the woman they love. Though the modern heroes are much more
popular than classic American heroes, the modern hero has rooted from these same literary works ...

Bisphenol-A
Bisphenol A (or BPA) is an organic compound used in the industrial production of plastics. It was first
synthesised around 100 years ago, and has been used to produce polycarbonate plastics and epoxy
resins since the 1960s (US FDA, 2012). Polycarbonate plastics are lightweight and rigid, therefore
used in products such as CDs, DVDs, sports and medical equipment, food and drink containers and
some water supply pipes. Epoxy resins are used as protective coatings in food cans, paints and

Let The Punishment Fit The Crime
I grew up in a very strict, religious household and though I was never baptized in the religion
I was a practicing Jehovah s Witness till about the age of 25. I do still occasionally go to their
meetings but more importantly I still believe the fundamentals of what they teach and Hell is not one
of those fundamentals. Jehovah s Witness s believe that when you die that your body and soul returns
to the earth. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it
you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return (New World Translation, Gen. 3.19).
Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor
knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, where you are going (New World Translation, Ec. 9.10). The
Witness s teach death is the punishment for sin, not hell. So I found this topic of Hell, it s sinners and
their punishments for our Critical Response paper what peaked my interest the most. Dante s Inferno

enjoyment. Many orcas suffer from poor physical and mental effects in captivity. Killer whales will

The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines watershed as a time when an important change

often times one on which important changes and developments depend. It is often referred to as a

Afrikaans word, meaning the state of being apart. Apartheid was a system of racial segregation in
South Africa. This system was enforced by the NP (National Party,) the party that governed the nation

Akira Kurosawa s The Seven Samurai and John Sturges The Magnificent Seven
The 1954 movie The Seven Samurai, directed by Akira Kurosawa, and its 1960 remake The
Magnificent Seven, directed by John Sturges have many similarities; for example, the plot of both
movies entails farmers hiring mercenaries to help fend off bandits that annually pillage their farms.
The two movies also have differences like the characterization of the bandits in The Magnificent
Seven as opposed to The Seven Samurai.

old friend: Shichiroji (SS), Harry (MS), and a quiet, older and tremendously experienced
samurai/gunslinger: Kyuzo (SS), O Reilly (MS).
Once six mercenaries are acquired they set off to the village and Chico/Kikuchiyo follows behind until
the mercenaries decide to let him join. Once the mercenaries arrive, in both movies, all the farmers are
hiding because they think the samurai/gunslingers are just as bad as the bandits and they hid all their

with little battles occurring over a three day period until the final battle.

Immigration And Immigration Movement
The history of immigration and emigration in the United States is closely linked to the history of
railroads. Immigrants were not only integral to the construction of the transcontinental railroads that
facilitated western expansion, but they also used the railroad to migrate west and to form new
immigrant settlements in western states and territories.
In the early 19 century, United States expanded westward, across the Mississippi
River and later to the Pacific Ocean. These western lands, either was purchased, won in battles, or
seized outright from Indian tribes and other nations. For many years migrants came in search of
wealth and better opportunities and very often clashed either with Mexicans or Indians who defended
their homeland and traditions. From the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 through the migration that
resulted from the Transcontinental Railroad and the Homestead Act, Americans engaged in what
Theodore Roosevelt termed the Great Leap Westward. The settlers were motivated to expand to the
west after Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led the expedition (1804 to 1806) through the
Louisiana purchase territory that was acquired from France in 1803. Their mission was assigned by
President Thomas Jefferson with the intention to assess the land s resources, make diplomatic contact
with the Indians, and search for the Northwest Passage, a route to the Pacific Ocean.
The railroads of the 19th century had transformed America in ways that awed and dazzled onlookers

The Case Of Mr. Stevens
Sam Stevens lives in an apartment building owned by his landlord, Mr. Quinn, where he has been
working on an invention that plays the sound of a barking dog to scare off potential intruders. A
national chain store has contacted Mr. Stevens, and would like to sell his product exclusively. Despite
the fact that Mr. Stevens and the store never signed a physical contract, he verbally told a store
manager several months ago that he would ship 1,000 units. Now, the chain store has just contacted
Mr. Stevens via letter, demanding that he deliver the promised 1,000 units immediately (Southern
New Hampshire University, n.d.).
There exists a second issue in the case of Mr. Stevens as well, regarding an eviction notice from his
landlord, telling him he has to be out of the apartment in 30 days because the barking invention has
been bothering the other tenants. The letter further states that Mr. Stevens was not allowed to conduct
his business from his apartment. Mr. Stevens is upset because he claims to have told Quinn that he
was working on a new invention, and the landlord had wished him luck (Southern New Hampshire
University, n.d.).
In regards to the issue between Mr. Stevens and the chain store, various elements must be present to
prove that a valid contract exists. The four elements to a contract are: agreement between the parties,
consideration, contractual capacity, and finally, legal object (Kubasek, Browne, Giampetro Meyer,
Barkacs, Herron, Williamson, Dhooge, 2011).

Second Great Awakening Analysis
The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant revival movement during the early 19th century in the
United States. It enrolled millions of new members in existing evangelical denominations and led to
the formation of new denominations. Many converts believed that the Awakening heralded a new
millennial age. The Second Great Awakening stimulated the establishment of many reform movements
by a sort of domino effect of inspiration as one movement started, it encouraged the initiation of
another. A lot of these movements were composed and sought out during camp meetings on religious
revival during the 1800 s to get a gathering of passionate on goers to share and discuss their beliefs to
restore their interest and devotion to their faith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camp meeting was a religious service of several days length with preachers. Settlers in thinly
populated areas gathered at the camp meeting for fellowship as well as worship. (Lambert, 2013) The
sheer exhilaration of participating in a religious revival with crowds of hundreds and perhaps
thousands of people inspired the dancing, shouting, and singing associated with these events. Upon
their return home, most converts joined or created small local churches, which grew rapidly. The
Second Great Awakening marked a religious transition in society in America. Many Americans from
the Calvinist sect emphasized man s inability to save themselves and their only way to be saved was
from grace from God. (Independence Hall Association in Philadelphia, 2014) The Second Great
Awakening caused a more of a lasting change on American society than any other religious revival.
One of the major ideas of the Second Great Awakening was that people could perfect themselves. The
Second Great Awakening put forward the idea that people could work to achieve their own salvation.
It also was based on the idea that revivalist preachers could go around spreading the word and thereby
help people to improve. These

Somatic Marker Decision-Making
All result of studies showed that ISD and patients cannot process their emotions properly so they
cannot use their emotions as a baseline for decision making. Usually their judgments are not
advantages, under uncertainty their decisions are impaired but when conditions are in certainty they
can still make decisions. In reference to Somatic Marker Hypothesis, the key and important idea is
decision making is influenced by marker signals. There are three routes which are related to brain and
they influence cognition. These three routes are spinal cord, vagus nerve and endocrine. The article
focused on the importance of vagus nerve in decision making. Vagus nerves are crucial for somatic

Essay on The Tell-Tale Heart
Andrew Fiddler Professor Esquivel English 1020 15 February 2013 Themes of The Tell Tale Heart
Edgar Allen Poe explores the similarity of love and hate in many stories, especially The Tell Tale
Heart. In The Tell Tale Heart, the narrator confesses a love for an old man whom he then violently
murders and dismembers the body and hides the pieces below the floorboards in the bedroom. When
the police arrive, the narrator appears normal and unshaken by the murder. Later on, the man gives in
to the guilt and cannot withstand knowing anymore and not telling anyone. The narrator reveals his
madness by attempting to separate the person of the old man, whom he loves, from the old man s
supposedly evil eye, which triggers the narrator s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator reveals his inability to recognize that the eye is the I, or identity, of the old man. The eyes
symbolize the essence of human identity, which cannot be separated from the body. The eye cannot be
killed without causing the man to die. According to the narrator, For it was not the old man who vexed
me, but his Evil Eye. (Poe), the eye not the old man haunted him and had to be eliminated.
Characterization also helps the reader understand the theme. I think that the narrator is unnamed to
give the reader another sense that this whole story could happen to them, or anyone they know. It
shows the theme that everyone has an evil side, and although it is hard to admit, all humans are
capable of committing a murder such as this. But just like everyone is capable of committing this kind
of crime, everyone also feels the guilt after the deed is done. As the story goes on, the readers can see
the madness growing in the narrator. At first, he tells the story quite calmly. He even explains that after
the murder, he was completely calm with the police officers. The narrator then states The officers were
satisfied. My manner had convinced them. (Poe), thinking he could get by with the murder but he
could not stand the guilt that came along with it. By the end of the story when he hears the heartbeat,
his whole mannerism changes. He is stressed and his words and thoughts come out in a panicked tone.
Interestingly, there is only one set of spoken words that the

Redesign Of Copley Square Analysis
Copley Square is a sort of visual representation or metaphor of Boston as a whole. Boston has for
centuries been a center of learning and culture, and Copley is surrounded today by the Boston Public
Library, numerous churches, and influential businesses. Boston is a junction between the old and the
new, and Copley sports differing ages of architecture varying from the Hancock tower to the Old
South Church. Boston is where different people come together, and Copley is where the Back Bay
meets the South End. Boston is known for its oddly charming seemingly unplanned arrangement, and
more so than anything else, Copley Square represents this (Krieger 47). In my redesign of Copley
square, I paid attention to all of these elements as well as others in an attempt to create a destination
that respects its surroundings and history in addition to drawing people in and serving several
purposes. The first aspect I worked on in redesigning Copley was the pathways. I found that upon

The greater amount of green space hopes to draw more people in from the surrounding communities
to relax and have fun outdoors especially in warmer moths of the year. The design of the pathways
permits passersby to more efficiently get from one corner of the square to another. This redesign will
also still allow for the square s current uses to continue including the farmers market. Benches facing

purposes will attract more people to the square and keep them there for

Colonialism in Jackie Chan Films Essay
Colonialism in Jackie Chan Films For over 20 years Jackie Chan has been the biggest action star in

Jackie Chan, as the real life Chinese folk hero Wong Fei Hung, stops the British along with their
Chinese cohorts from stealing the artifacts, saving the country s heritage for generations to come.
Despite the fact that Wong Fei Hung is a real person, this sequence of events never happened. It is no
coincidence, however, that the person responsible for stopping the devious British colonials in the
film, as well as many other films that do not feature Jackie Chan, is Fei Hung. Wong Fei Hung is
China s greatest hero, so much so that he is China, and to a lesser extent he is Hong Kong,
representing many of Hong Kong s basic beliefs, such as Confucian virtue and Cantonese tradition
(Fore 124.) Hong Kong cinema has had a longstanding affair with Wong Fei Hung, with over 100
films about him having been made in the past 50 years (Logan 10.) He represents many Chinese
ideals, so his small victory over the British colonials can easily be read as a Chinese victory over the
British. Because of Britain s occupation of Hong Kong at the time, it is easy to see why Hong Kong
citizens would like to see the British be defeated by someone who holds Chinese beliefs so sacred, and
by someone who is held so sacred in Hong Kong.

The Persecution And Assassination Of Jean Paul Marat
In The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum
of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis De Sade, Peter Weiss placed a historic revolutionary
setting inside of a chaotic insane asylum. Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with
reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a
play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade,
could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking
violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric
among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about
the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte
Corday.
Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of
her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous
appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise
exposed breasts. These images appear in the first introduction of Corday and create conflict for the
woman portraying her, as well as affect Sade s character of Corday in her carrying out of the plot to
kill Marat. However, the effect on the latter is not a negative one. The sexual

The Culture Of The Mexican Culture
How many different types of cultures are there? Here s the answer there are many cultures. My story
starts like this; both of my parents are from Guadalajara well most of my family is from that part of
México. Being part of the Mexican culture is very different from other cultures, but every culture is
unique of its own way. Many Mexican people have preserved and still do many of their ancestors
traditions. Tradition plays a big role in my family for example: the food we eat, the music we listen to,
what we dance to and what we celebrate to. I wanted a sweet sixteen but of course being Mexican my
parents said no. Being in the Mexican culture tradition is that when you turn 15 you re supposed to
have a Quinceanera it symbolizes that you are no longer a kid but you are now a young women. Many
people think a Quinceanera is just a party but the real tradition is to have a church mass. Since I am
catholic that consists of me going to church and thanking God. Social behaviors impact your life in
many ways. You have roles and rules in your cultures. When you re with your friends you act a
different way. When it has to do with family or church groups you have a role and rules and your
behavior is different. Women and Males have different rules and roles. Mother is supposed to stay
home and Father is supposed to work to help his family. Women are not supposed to do yard work
their job is inside. That has changed with the year s most

This allows it to interact with other atoms in many ways. This is very significant when Platinum is
used in anticancer drugs for chemotherapy. Cisplatin is a Platinum based drug and is one of the oldest
and most successful anticancer drug in the history of chemo prescriptions. The molecule structure of
DNA is very important for the interaction of Cisplatin. It is a double helix and is held together by
building blocks, scientifically known as nucleotides. Through the bases of DNA, Platinum is then able
to its job. The drug reacts in a displacement reaction. The chlorine atoms that are in our bodies are
displaced by the aqua ligand, a coordination compound of metal ions and water, which is the displaced
by the nitrogen in the DNA. The cisplastin then is left to interact with the DNA and creates two cross
link stands. Repairing mechanisms in the body then separate the cisplastin from the DNA which then
causes the damage of the unhealthy cells. (Carmen Drahl 2017) this is shown in fig

Essay on Christian Elements in Beowulf
Beowulf is one of the great heroic poems in English literature. The epic follows a courageous warrior
named Beowulf throughout his young, adult life and into his old age. As a young man, Beowulf

his mother. Later, after fifty years pass, Beowulf is an old man and a great king of the Geats. A

The frequent allusions to the power of fate, the motive of blood revenge, and the praise of worldly
glory bear testimony to the ancient background of pagan conceptions and ideals. However, the general
tone of the epic and its ethical viewpoint are mostly Christian . There is no longer a genuine pagan
atmosphere. The sentiment has been softened and purified. The virtues of moderation, unselfishness,
consideration for others are practiced and appreciated. The author has fairly exhaulted the fights with
Grendel, his mother, and the dragon into a conflict between powers of good and evil. The figure of
Grendel, while originally an ordinary troll is conceived as an impersonation of evil and darkness, even
an incarnation of the Christian devil. Grendel is a member of the race of Cain, he is a creature

Food Safety Modernization Act Of 2010 ( Fsma )
Food Safety Modernization Act
The new FDA Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010 (FSMA) was signed into law by President
Obama on January 4, 2011. It aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus of
federal regulators from responding to contamination to preventing it rather than relying primarily on
reacting to problems after they occur. Everyone play a role in ensuring safe food from field to fork.
The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is the major inspection and reorganize of United State
food safety practice since 1938. This is a big change to US food system, since the new regulations are
not just for farms, but facilities that process food for people to eat. These new regulations are

Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd ) Essay
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a range of conditions grouped under the neurodevelopmental
disorders in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) published in 2013
(Kress Paylo, 2015). Those who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder must present two types
of symptoms: 1) Deficits in social communication and social interaction and 2) Restricted, repetitive
patterns of behavior, interests or activities (APA, 2013). The DSM 5 merged all autism disorders into
one diagnosis of ASD. Before this publication, they were organized as distinct subtypes, which
included autistic disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not
otherwise specified (PDD NOS) and Asperger syndrome (Kress Paylo, 2015).
The Current Understanding of Disorder and Causes
Autism may be connected to early brain development but notable signs and symptoms of the disorder
have the propensity to manifest around 1 3 years old (APA, 2013). This disorder can at times be linked
to intellectual disability, motor coordination and attention difficulties as well as physical health issues
including sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances (CITE).

development being a gradual progression, parents describe growing or potential concerns in

(ALK) operates as a holding company, which through its businesses, Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, and Virgin America, encompasses commercial aviation services. The cost for each wireless node is generally higher than a conventional LAN node. LAN devices Today, LANs use sophisticated programs that permit several users to work with the same resources at the same time. This can include hard disk drives, printers, plotters, software, etc. LANs are composed of various components performing specific tasks so each user can access shared resources. Generally, every component in a network is called a node. Each node is further identified by the specific task it performs. A user s node is called a terminal or a workstation. This can be a dumb device, meaning it has no operating system, just a monitor and keyboard, or a smart node, meaning it can do it s own computing because of an internal central processor. A server is a node on the network that provides services to the users of that network. A server will manage hardware and software resources or monitor the exchange of information through a network. Each server will respond to the requests of a user and provide a service, like printing a document or retrieving a stored file. There are two basic types of servers: Dedicated and Non dedicated. The case provided two sets of cost estimates from an outside consultant and from Goodyear after hiring a general contractor. We utilized both sets of costs that directed us to the same decision that Goodyear should not go ahead with the Pipeline Project. Once we obtained the UFCF, the terminal value was calculated in three different ways, treating the pipeline as an asset on our books, finding the value of project if cash flows are received for perpetuity an finding the annuity value of cash flows for 30 years by assuming that after 1992 cash ... We made projections and calculations using estimates of Goodyear s contractors as well as did a sensitivity test using the data of outside consultants, and the negative NPVs of both the projects showed that Goodyear should not go ahead with the project. ASSUMPTIONS Working Capital: In the CF statement given, no separate values for working capital accounts are given so the calculations are done assuming working capital to be 0. Contingency: We disregarded contingency. We did not treat it as a cash component of working capital or as a capitalized expense because it was unclear in the case if the contingency was ever spent. Growth: We assume that the revenues from pipelines grow at the rate of inflation which is 5%, after reaching capacity. Tax credit: We assume that Goodyear benefits from tax credits from this project and therefore the benefit is added to the cash flows. For calculating terminal value: Using the Asset Method The Depreciable PPE calculated for North American Pipeline was sum of total cap ex in 1985 and 1986 excluding the land and right of way, contingency fund. 50% of Investment tax credit was not subtracted from the value of depreciable PPE because it does not affect the value of assets. This is unlike the calculation done for tax purpose, as shown in Exhibit 8. As mentioned in the case, PPE is depreciated on a straight line method for 30 years, for calculating the remaining asset worth. Value of land is added to the

The personalistic theory often times called the great man theory holds that a chosen few individuals are unique in that they are endowed with an extraordinary inner quality giving them the ability to do extraordinary things. Machines were now becoming familiar to people from all walks of life all over Western Europe. They were becoming an accepted way of life. The most important of all these machines to the history of modern psychology was the mechanical clock. Clocks at this time were sensational and amazing and had an enormous influence on human thought throughout all of society. They captured the essence of the doctrine of mechanism which was the underlying philosophy and the zeitgeist of the seventeenth century. The theory of mechanism held that natural processes were mechanically determined and could be explained through the sciences of physics and chemistry. It led the prominent thinkers to imagine and explain the universe in terms of operating as a great machine predictable, precise, and regular. Clocks shared these same characteristics, therefore, they became models of the universe for scientists and philosophers. One of the most noted philosophers agreeing with this idea was Rene Descartes(1596 1650). Descartes was born the second child in a family of two sons and one daughter on March 31, 1596 in France. It still remained significant to the growth of the period as this was the first official governmental document on reform that was introduced and it set a precedent for further reforms. However, this was important because although there was split opinion in the reform movement, it united the public for change in parliament which ultimately led to the government being pressured into passing the Reform Bill. Another relatively important issue that had a dramatic effect on the reform movement was the impact of the French Revolution in 1789. It could be argued that this was the trigger cause of revolutionary attitudes in Britain due to the extremity of the events occurring in the nations neighbouring country France at the time. It caused fear among the aristocracy yet at the same time unified them as a group; determined to resist similar moves of radicalism in Britain. However, this event occurred right at the beginning of the period henceforth the impact of this factor gradually declined over time, rendering this affair a less important factor on the whole. Pitt s Repressive policies were also important in the growth of more radical movements in the country. Pitt feared events similar to those that occurred in France would transpire within Britain and so he imposed a great deal of policies as deterrents, discouraging the people of Britain from revolution. Immigrants were not only integral to the construction of the transcontinental railroads that facilitated western expansion, but they also used the railroad to migrate west and to form new immigrant settlements in western states and territories. In the early 19 century, United States expanded westward, across the Mississippi River and later to the Pacific Ocean. Characterization also helps the reader understand the theme. I think that the narrator is unnamed to give the reader another sense that this whole story could happen to them, or anyone they know. It shows the theme that everyone has an evil side, and although it is hard to admit, all humans are capable of committing a murder such as this. But just like everyone is capable of committing this kind of crime, everyone also feels the guilt after the deed is done. As the story goes on, the readers can see the madness growing in the narrator. At first, he tells the story quite calmly. He even explains that after the murder, he was completely calm with the police officers. The narrator then states The officers were satisfied. My manner had convinced them. (Poe), thinking he could get by with the murder but he could not stand the guilt that came along with it. By the end of the story when he hears the heartbeat, his whole mannerism changes. He is stressed and his words and thoughts come out in a panicked tone. Interestingly, there is only one set of spoken words that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Redesign Of Copley Square Analysis Copley Square is a sort of visual representation or metaphor of Boston as a whole. Boston has for centuries been a center of learning and culture, and Copley is surrounded today by the Boston Public Library, numerous churches, and influential businesses. Boston is a junction between the old and the new, and Copley sports differing ages of architecture varying from the Hancock tower to the Old South Church. Boston is where different people come together, and Copley is where the Back Bay meets the South End. Boston is known for its oddly charming seemingly unplanned arrangement, and more so than anything else, Copley Square represents this (Krieger 47). In my redesign of Copley square, I paid attention to all of these elements as well as others in an attempt to create a destination that respects its surroundings and history in addition to drawing people in and serving several purposes. The first aspect I worked on in redesigning Copley was the pathways. I found that upon visiting the site, the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The greater amount of green space hopes to draw more people in from the surrounding communities to relax and have fun outdoors especially in warmer moths of the year. The design of the pathways permits passersby to more efficiently get from one corner of the square to another. Jackie Chan, as the real life Chinese folk hero Wong Fei Hung, stops the British along with their Chinese cohorts from stealing the artifacts, saving the country s heritage for generations to come. Despite the fact that Wong Fei Hung is a real person, this sequence of events never happened. It is no coincidence, however, that the person responsible for stopping the devious British colonials in the film, as well as many other films that do not feature Jackie Chan, is Fei Hung. Wong Fei Hung is China s greatest hero, so much so that he is China, and to a lesser extent he is Hong Kong, representing many of Hong Kong s basic beliefs, such as Confucian virtue and Cantonese tradition (Fore 124.) Hong Kong cinema has had a longstanding affair with Wong Fei Hung, with over 100 films about him having been made in the past 50 years (Logan 10.) He represents many Chinese ideals, so his small victory over the British colonials can easily be read as a Chinese victory over the British. Because of Britain s occupation of Hong Kong at the time, it is easy to see why Hong Kong citizens would like to see the British be defeated by someone who holds Chinese beliefs so sacred, and by someone who is held so sacred in Hong Kong. The Persecution And Assassination Of Jean Paul Marat In The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis De Sade, Peter Weiss placed a historic revolutionary setting inside of a chaotic insane asylum. Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade, could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte Corday. Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise exposed breasts. Being part of the Mexican culture is very different from other cultures, but every culture is unique of its own way. Many Mexican people have preserved and still do many of their ancestors traditions. Tradition plays a big role in my family for example: the food we eat, the music we listen to, what we dance to and what we celebrate to. I wanted a sweet sixteen but of course being Mexican my parents said no. Being in the Mexican culture tradition is that when you turn 15 you re supposed to have a Quinceanera it symbolizes that you are no longer a kid but you are now a young women.
