Police Brutality And The Law Enforcement
Police Brutality The duties of law enforcement involve looking after the American people. As the Los
Angeles Police Department puts it, it is the police s duty to Protect and Serve the community. As
Americans, we should expect to be able to rely on local police to solve our problems and bring peace
and stability to society. Yet, as current events have shown, these promises are not always fulfilled.
Since the late 1960s, America has begun to grow from a racially segregated nation, into one of unity
and equality. Today there is no doubt that immense progress has been made, however events involving
our law enforcement and minorities has seemed to halt such progress. Police brutality continues to be
a major issue nationwide with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recently, the public has begun to once again rise up against such heinous crimes that seem to hail
from an era before civil rights.
Police brutality notoriously rose during the 1990s. The most guilty of this was the Los Angeles Police
Department. After the introduction of crack cocaine plagued the streets of American cities, Los
Angeles took the initiative of upgrading its CRASH Unit (Community Resources Against Street
Hoodlums). By April 1988, nearly 1,567 minorities were arrested on just one weekend, yet about 10%
of these arrests actually led to felony convictions. By 1998, the CRASH unit was embroiled once
again in a scandal known as the Rampart Scandal. More than seventy officers assigned to the Rampart
Division were accused of strong police misconduct. These officers were accused of targeting
minorities and planting evidence on these victims, framing them to higher their positions in the LAPD.
(Source #3) In the middle of all this, one case would implant the image of police brutality to all
Americans for years to come. On March 4, 1991, an African American man named Rodney King had
been drinking earlier in the night and was on his way home, speeding on the highway which brought
attention to an officer stationed there and proceed to pursue King. After attempting to outrun police,
King was eventually cornered by police. What would be expected to be a quick arrest after being
pulled over quickly turned brutal. As King exited

The Three Men that Escaped Alcatraz
Escaping Alcatraz
After the three men escaped Alcatraz the FBI had a 17 year trial. How did the three men escape
Alcatraz? The three men were John and Clarence Anglin, Frank Morris. There were four men total
involved in the escape. Allen West was the only one that could not get out of his cell through the hole.
How did the three men escaped? Frank used a clay head to put in his bed while escaping so when the
guards looked at his cell they saw his (fake) head. They used spoons to dig a tunnel that took over a
year. The tunnel that they dug brought them to an unused corridor. West could not make it out of his
cell and was left behind. From the service corridor they climbed a ventilation shaft to reach the roof.
Where did the trio end up? The next morning it was discovered that the trio escaped. At first it was
thought that the escapees had been decapitated. Police searched for the escapees on Alcatraz and
Angel Island without success. Remnants of the raft, paddles and a bag containing the Anglins personal
effects were found on Angel Island. According to the FBI, when it was theoretically possible for the 3
inmates to have reached Angel Island, the cold water temperatures and the direction of the oceans
tides made this unlikely. The FBI also said that the plans of the inmates were to steal clothes and a car
once they reached land, Although no car or clothing thefts were reported in the area following the
escape.

Ford Motor Company Case Analysis Essay
Throughout the late twentieth century, the Ford Motor Company received numerous complaints
regarding incidents involving their vehicles. Consumers of Ford vehicles reported that at least one of
their tires spontaneous blew out while driving at highway speeds; more often than not, these accidents
resulted in the driver losing control and rolling the vehicle, causing injury or death. After numerous
lawsuits, lawyers began to notice a trend. Through multiple clients, they observed the majority of
incidents involved Firestone tires on light Ford trucks, particularly the Ford Explorer. From the
inception of the Ford Motor Company, Firestone Tires had been a primary supplier of original
equipment for Ford vehicles. In the earlier 1990s, the company became the sole supplier of original
equipment for light duty Ford Trucks. The Ford Explorer became the number one selling sport utility
vehicle in the USA, meaning millions of potentially defective Firestone tires were out on the
highways. Outside investigations found numerous issues with the Firestone Tires. One of the root
issues began with the trucks rolling off of the Ford assembly lines. Their tires would be underinflated
to only twenty six psi, rather than thirty psi, as recommended by Firestone. The tires pressures will
naturally decrease over time, thus causing the tires to become dangerously low on air. As the tires
deflate, more rubber makes contact with the road, increasing the amount of friction between surfaces.

Genetically Modified Food And Its Effects On The Consumer
In the year 2050, nearly 10 billion people will call Earth home. Food producers must increase food
production by 70% in order to feed the increasing population (Rangel, 2015, para. 20). A solution to
increase the production from farms across the globe is to genetically modify food. Scientists can
manipulate the genes of different crops to increase the crops size, quantity, shelf life and even
resistance to pests. In recent years, genetically modified foods have begun to show up in grocery
stores across the globe. Some consumers do not object to eating genetically modified food, but others
have started to question how genetically modified food could affect the consumer. Rangel (2015)
wrote that genetically modified objects are not new to society and should be nothing to worry about.
He stated that humans have altered the genetics of organisms for over 30,000 years through the
process of selective breeding or artificial selection (para. 1). Selective breeding may not be conducted
in a lab like genetically modified objects (GMO) today, but it is comparable to GMOs because through
selective breeding, farmers choose the plants with the most desirable traits and plant the seeds from
those plants in order to have an enhanced crop the following year. Even though studies have found
pros and cons of genetically modified food, researchers still need to conduct additional studies in
order to better understand how genetically modified food could possibly affect the health of humans.

John Barrymore Personality Disorder
John Barrymore once said, You can t drown yourself in a drink. I ve tried; you float. Quotes like these
and many others from John Barrymore embody him for all that he was. As John Barrymore got older,
his mind and health started to decline due to his addiction to alcohol and his constant need to be
married to someone. John Sidney Blythe Barrymore was born on February 15 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania in 1882. He was born to Maurice Barrymore, who was an alcoholic and contracted
syphilis from an unknown source, and Georgiana Drew Barrymore, who contracted tuberculosis and
died when Barrymore was only eleven. Barrymore attended Georgetown Preparatory School until
1898 when he was expelled after caught attending a bordello (John Barrymore Biography). When he

One of the reasons he continued drinking was because he developed depression since alcohol is
considered a depressant drug, which caused him to drink even more to help relieve the depression.
Another problem he developed was erratic and bizarre behavior, which he had worried about earlier in
his life because his father also went slowly insane. Barrymore s worry was most likely caused by the
anxiety that he felt from the early stages of his alcoholism, which was caused by his system trying to
overcome the stress of the alcohol s buzz . Another thing that could have contributed to Barrymore s
bizarre and erratic behavior was the alcohol s effect on the serotonin levels in his brain, which
regulates mood in the brain. Barrymore s random and sometimes depressing behavior can be
completely blamed on his alcoholism that started from an early

Crucial To Little Women And Treasure Island Analysis
Crucial to Little Women and Treasure Island is Amy March s and Jim Hawkins journey abroad which
also shows the characters trajectory from innocence to maturity. Certainly, both novels belong to the
sub genre of bildungsroman which is by definition, a story that depicts a journey from childhood to
maturity. In spite of their different goals and outcomes, it is possible to trace some sort of parallelism
between both journeys as they were indirectly intended to shape their characters in line with the social
norms of that time. First and foremost, in Little Women, Amy s castle in the air was to be an artist, and
go to Rome, and do fine pictures, and be the best artist in the whole world (Alcott, 2008). In part two
of Little Women, Amy travels abroad to Europe as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To demonstrate, as she understood that she is only talented, she turned to her subliminal alternative
plan and married the wealthy Laurie. Nevertheless, she sat her relationship with art as patroness while
devoting her own art to the service of the family. According to Holly Blackford (2011), Amy s journey
abroad eliminated Amy s artistic demon that possessed her for a long time and was depriving her from
being a little woman. Furthermore, she also argues that Amy s voyage has smoothened her nature and
made her more agreeable and this is particularly evident in her remark that Whenever I see girls
struggling along, as we used to do, I want to put out my hand and help them (Alcott, 2008). Indeed, by
contrasting Amy s earlier selfishness with her selflessness at the end of the novel, it is obvious that this
journey was instrumental in Amy s conversion into a little woman. Nonetheless, it has also indulged
and emphasized her conventionality as evident in her attack on Laurie in Lazy Laurence. However, in
spite of the different goals and outcomes, it is possible to see a kind of parallel between Amy s and

Comair airline, including its information systems. Information systems were first adopted into their
critical business function in 1984 as a legal requirement, and fortunately, when combined with their
reputation, Comiar was able march to the top of the industry . This benefit of the system however was
short lived due to a lack of support and maintenance. They were able to recognizing the need to
migrate to an updated information system, where maintenance and support would have been readily
available; however management saw no urgency in such. The benefit associated with a new system
were unknown to management, their limited view were the dollars and cents of the investment.
Decisions to upgrade the software was obviously not properly investigated, as off the shelf model as
Maestro or Sabre if purchased would increase technical issues such as performance, time per
transaction, and possible limited storage. These new challenges would require elimination to the
system layer:

The Pros And Cons Of The GC Blockade
GCC Blockade Qatar recently underwent a huge diplomatic change. On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia,
Bahrain, UAE, and Egypt cut their political ties with Qatar and are currently surrounding the country.
Normally, people would assume that the blockade only has negative impacts on the people and the
economy of a nation, but there are many positives of the event that we should also note.
The public was in a nationwide panic when the news of the blockade first surfaced, but the
government quickly assured the people that they had a plan. For example, Ahmed bin Jassim AlThani,
Qatar s economic minister, told CNBC that the blockade was an opportunity that led to opening trade
routes with Turkey, Kuwait, Oman, and others. This was a chance to form new ties and strengthen old
ones; this positive outlook kept the Qatari people satisfied and ready for ... Show more content on

Richard Fee Was A Potential Medical Student
Richard Fee was a potential medical student, an athlete on the baseball team and sophomore class
president. In 2008 he began to struggle with focusing on his studies and went to see a doctor who
believed he had Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The doctor immediately prescribed him
Vyvanse for his ADHD. In 2008 after he graduated with a degree in biology, he began to study hard
for the medical school entry exams. (Schwarz 1) This caused him to make an appointment to the
nearby Triad Psychiatric and Counseling Center. The doctor concluded from an 18 question survey
that he had an inattentive type of ADHD. Richard Fee never had any signs of ADHD before college,
as a kid or young adult growing up. A nurse practitioner at the psychiatric counseling center recorded
that before, Richard s complaints about organization, memory and attention to detail. , his speech was

severe abuse, he would refill his prescription multiple times a month when he wasn t even out of them.
Then the side effects of Vyvanse began to take place; Richard s sleep patterns became jumbled, he was
in a dark depressed mood and moved back in to his home in Virginia Beach with his parents. Richard
began to go through his medication expediently and would go through a whole months worth in a
couple weeks. Richard s behavior was spiraling out of control at this point. He then became paranoid

Famous Artist Stereotypes Essay
Stereotypes are well known among humans and many of us have been faced with the criticism of such
stereotypes. One of the most well known stereotypes is those belonging to famous artists. These
stereotypes come from many of the movies created about such artists. Some believe that famous artists
are someone people that are abnormal or odd in their way of thinking or actions. When asked what
comes into someone s mind when asked about famous artists may also be how they are not famous
until death. Along with these beliefs, people believe that artists have a very active sex life. Through
media, these stereotypes are true but in all actuality, they are not correct.
When thinking about famous artists, many people believe that they all suffer from some type of
mental illness. Van Gogh is an example of the stereotype. Seventy days after Vincent moves to Auvers
sur Oise and under the care of Dr. Gachet, he dies from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Many know
the artist to be quite ill mentally along with the fact of Van Gogh cutting his own ear off. The man is

Effective Cancer Screening Methods Essay
Effective cancer screening methods are used to detect or identify the presence of a specific cancer
before the individual displays any symptoms of cancer. Early detection of a cancer through screening
can save the life of a person who may have died without screening detection. Early detection of cancer
can also provide a less costly and more effective treatment than if the cancer progresses requiring
more advanced or drastic treatment. Screenings tests for the more common cancers such as breast,
colon, prostate or cervical can be non invasive or only slightly invasive. The majority of screening
procedures are non invasive which is more cost effective, patient convenient, and does not require any

PSA levels can be compared against prior PSA test levels for changes. The PSA test is an excellent
screening tool because it is highly sensitive, reasonably priced, and well tolerated by patients. A PSA
level alone is doesn t distinguish what could be benign prostate conditions or cancer. A doctor
considers PSA test when deciding whether to check further for signs of prostate cancer (National
Cancer Institute, 2009). There are difficulties and controversy associated with the current screening
methods for prostate cancer. The PSA test for prostate cancer has become controversial as it is not yet
known for certain if this test actually does saves lives. It is not clear if the benefits of PSA screening
outweigh the risks of diagnostic tests and cancer treatments (National Cancer Institute, 2009).
According to NCI, a PSA test may detect a small amount of cancer that may never become life
threatening. This is referred to as over diagnosis and this can put men at risk of complications from
any additional and unnecessary treatment (National Cancer Institute, 2009). A study at the Washington
University found 25 to 35 percent of men who had a lower than normal PSA level and underwent a
prostate biopsy were found to have prostate cancer. That means that 65 to 75 percent of the remaining
men did not have prostate cancer. This concludes that there is no exact specific normal or abnormal
PSA levels (National Cancer Institute, 2009). A

Essay On Single American Food
Diet is a huge concern for many people today who are either trying to control a preventable disease or
those people who are trying to lose the excess weight that they are carrying around with them. Not
only has our diet as Americans been steadily getting worse but as our population has risen there have
been very few attempts to counter the negative effects that over processing our food has done. Every
Single American, who has eaten the hot lunches at school remembers and has a first hand knowledge
of the taste of preservatives and manufactured flavor of the food they ate during their formative years
attending Elementary through High School. To get an understanding of our diet we need to see the
what has been in front of our faces for generations. In fact at least 2 generations. The only generation
in its entirety to to not see food that was processed and packaged for shelf life was that of our greatest
generation... those people who fought and won World War II. Many of them were exposed to it during
their time in the Military but up until then had probably grown most of their food themselves or, at the

Truman Capote Character Traits
Truman Capote was conceived Truman Streckfus Persons on September 30, 1924, in New Orleans,
Louisiana. Capote was as intriguing a character as the individuals who showed up in his stories. His
folks were an odd match, a residential area young lady named Lillie Mae and a beguiling rascal called
Arch. They went to a great extent to disregard their child, regularly abandoning him being taken care
of by others. Capote spent quite a bit of his young life under the watchful eye of his mom s relatives in
Monroeville, Alabama. In Monroeville, Capote got to know a young Harper Lee. The two were
paradoxical to one another. Capote was a touchy individual who was singled out by different children
for being a pushover, while Lee was an unpleasant and tumble boyish girl. In spite of their differences,
Lee observed Capote to be an enjoyment, calling him Merlin for his inventive and imaginative ...

What is racism? Racism is a form of discrimination based on race, especially the belief that one race is
superior to another. Racism may be expressed individually and consciously, through explicit thoughts,

races.

In this case, it is the innocent children Scout, Jem, and Dill who are wounded by the unthinking
cruelty of the adult community. They grow up carrying a burden of guilt and shame for a system they
had no part in creating. Still other victims are the eccentrics and individualists like Dolphus Raymond,
who has to give up their pride and place in the community in order to live and think as they please.
Harper Lee purposely used Scout as the narrator to portray that racism is shown differently in children
and in adults. The Killing of a Mockingbird is relevant in today s society, when children bully their
peers in the school playground just for their own enjoyment and making the person being bullied feel
bad for no particular reason. In the context of the book, Scout broke her promise to Atticus, her father
about fighting at school: My fists were clenched I was ready to make fly. Cecil Jacobs had announced

Causes Of Unemployment In Nigeria
Unemployment in some cases is not an individual problem. While some may think that unemployment
is always the beholders fault, in Nigeria however, it is quite the contrary. Raw data and statistics can
show exactly why a country has an unemployment problem. Along with that, causes of unemployment
can be significant to why unemployment is such a critical problem. Even more, the effects of
unemployment hint to the future of any country that struggles with this. With all of this in mind, one
must wonder how much unemployment really affects a country. Sometimes, the cold hard facts will
provide better evidence to why unemployment is more of a problem than some realize. Statistics can
be just as vital to understanding the problem of unemployment. Nigerian unemployment rate has
skyrocketed from 10.4% in the last quarter of 2015 to 14.2% in the respective last quarter in 2016.
That is an increase of 3.8% which is the highest job spike since 2009 ( Nigeria Unemployment Rate
P.1.). 3.8% may not seem like a lot, but since Nigeria has a population of 192 million (10/31/17)

classification of E M services endorse four types of clinical medical decision making: straightforward,
low complexity, moderate complexity, and high complexity. Clinical decisions refer to the complexity
of establishing a diagnosis or choosing a management option. The complexity is determined by the
volume of possible diagnoses or management options, and the volume or complexity of medical
records, diagnostic tests, or other information that must be obtained, reviewed, and analyzed. The risk
of complications, morbidity or mortality, and comorbidities associated with the patient s problem, the
diagnostic procedure or management options also determines the classification of medical decision
making (Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services, 2014b).
The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the standard diagnostic tool for epidemiology,
health management and clinical purposes. ICD includes the evaluation of the overall health conditions
of populations and is used to surveil the incidence and prevalence of diseases and other health issues.

Flowers are thousands of different varieties and not many people ever wonder what makes the flowers
more exquisite or what process relation the flower has with the pollinator. In the Southern region of
Texas there s nothing but cactus; sometimes on the cactus you can see some pink, red, orange, and
yellow blooming on the cactus! First time people see that, it s a little shocking because how would an
organism feed off it, when there are thorns connected to the cactus. Lucky for the cactus there are
many different organisms who are attracted to them due to the complementary colors and them
pollinating for the Prickly Pear cactus but there is a special one, the south texas hummingbird. When

In order for the attraction of color to happen they will usually have solid colors or a pattern with
ultraviolet shades, because the hummingbirds can see a greater color spectrum compared to humans.
The most popular hummingbird flowers often have a funnel like shape that helps nectar being
consumed. Thin flower tubes can be ruined by some insects and animals because they don t have the
long hummingbirds bill or how thin it is. Everyone would think any organisms would be attracted to
flowers that have a strong scent, but hummingbirds aren t attracted to strong scents. The
hummingbirds are attracted to flowers with a light scent and not a very strong odor because it attracts
too many insects and other organisms. The bird loves if the position of the flower is more out and the
wings aren t grazing against the needles of the cactus. The birds also take advantage of the blooming
time because in the morning the plants open up more and a much longer blooming season. The bird

Fawn Grove Warehouse Case Study
NCM has never owned a facility to store donated commodity; they have always relied on the donor to
house the commodity to be donated. Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene used the church building
until a 108,000 square foot warehouse was built in 2001. NCM contributed funds toward the
warehouse, but it was owned by the Fawn Grove Church. The commodity inside the warehouse
belonged to NCM, and NCM employed a warehouse manager, an office assistant, and a packing
assistant to maintain the warehouse and the commodity received. John Borgal, warehouse manager,

Kruskal Algorithm Essay
Kruskal s Algorithm
Introduction:
In 1956, the minimum spanning tree algorithm was firstly described by Kruskal. In same paper where
he rediscovered the Jarnik s algorithm. The algorithm was rediscovered in 1957 by Loberman and
Weinberger, but avoided to be renamed after them. The main idea of Kruskal s algorithms is as
follows:
Scan all the edges in the increase of weight order;
[If any edge is safe, keep it (i.e. add it to the set A)]
Kruskal s Algorithm is directly based on generic MST algorithm. It builds MST in the forest. On the
initial level, each of the vertex is in its own tree in the forest. Then the algorithm consider each of the
edge in turn, order by the increase of weight. If any edge (u, v) connects two of the different ... Show

Negligence Is An Important Part Of Tort
Study on Negligence
1.0 Introduction
Negligence can be defined as lack of proper care or attention (Ludowyk, Moore, 2006). Negligence is
an important part of tort. A tort is defined as a civil wrong (other than a breach of contract) in the form
of a breach of duty for which the legal remedy is an award of damages. Negligence is that a
reasonable person doing something which may cause damage.
The purpose of this essay is to understand the three essentials of negligence. In order to fully
understand the three essentials, this essay shows some details about the three essentials. In addition,
this essay fully analyses the novus actus interveniens.
2.0 Background
When the plaintiff wants to prove the defendant owed by negligence, he or ... Show more content on

3.1 Reasonable foreseeability
If the plaintiff s injury was not a reasonable foreseeable, the defendant did not have a duty of care. In
the case Tame v New South Wales (2002) 211 CLR 317, the plaintiff had been in a traffic accident.
She was tested and returned a zero blood alcohol level.
However, the police officer recorded as 0.14 by mistake. Later, it was correct. In addition, the plaintiff
s lawyer told her the truth and it would not affect her insurance. Then the plaintiff was obsessed and
had a mental problem. In this case, the plaintiff s mental problem is not a reasonable foreseeable
injury. Therefore, the police officer had not been under a duty of care and the state was not liable.
3.2 Recognised duties of care
The way to recognise duties of care is to find if there is a law regarding relationship between the
plaintiff and the defendant (Pentony, 2013). For example, the teacher is under a general duty of care to
provide students a safe environment to study, or the manufactures need to provide a higher quality
good to customers.
3.3 Neighbourhood factors
If the case is not in an established category, the Court may look at the important characteristics of this
case to establish an existent neighbourhood relationship to justify a duty of care. In order to establish
it, the Court needs to consider the plaintiff s weakness in the matter, whether the plaintiff relays on the

Religiosity, Spirituality In African American Women
The research article for this week discussion was Religiosity, Spirituality, and Cancer Fatalism Beliefs

the researchers used the Cronbach s alpha coefficient, with is an instrument to evaluate the internal

The odds ratio is the probability something will occur over the probability that it wont (Plichta Kelvin,
2013). Odds ratio should fall in between the confidence interval, in the study s case it shows there is
no statistical significance in when comparing the odds ratio to the confidence intervals due to all odds
radio falling in between the confidence intervals. The Pearson test is where the researcher is able to
determine if there is an association between two variables of interval or ratio measurement (Plichta
Kelvin, 2013). When examining the value calculated by the Pearson test it is suggested that a value +/
0.10 is weak, value of 0.30 is moderate or typical, and +/ 0.50 is considered substantial (Plichta
Kelvin, 2013). Furthermore, we can suggest that if r equals 1 there is a negative relationship, or if r
equals 0 there is no relationships, and lastly if r equals +1 it indicates a positive relationship. In
reviewing the relationship between variables, we can conclude that is there is no relationship between
fatalism and religiosity due to r=0.11 and fatalism and spirituality due to r = 0.106. Furthermore, the p
value was set at 0.05 for each of these variables. The p value for fatalism and religiosity was 0.19 and
for fatalism and spiritualty was 0.23, subsequently since both these values are

Figurative Meaning Of The Dead By James Joyce
The short story of Dubliners by James Joyce, The Dead, is set in the boisterous early twentieth
century, which brings up the political background of Ireland at that time. This political setting was
hesitant but still optimistic, as Ireland demanded independence from Great Britain and went through a
climactic cultural recovery. The author James Joyce appropriately uses the main character, Gabriel
Conroy, and Gabriel s wife, Gretta Conroy, to help develop the theme of encounters between the
recently dead and the living within the Irish society.
Both characters of Gretta Conroy and Gabriel Conroy in The Dead are also the main purpose for
which the title of the story is created. For instance, one function of the character of Gabriel s wife,
Gretta Conroy, in the story is to demonstrate the figurative meaning of the title. The Dead has

This second and last example of The Dead in a figurative sense is the turning point in the change of
Gabriel Conroy s feelings at the end of the story. Although Gabriel Conroy may look as a successful
well educated person, most of his way of living is focused internally. In other words, Gabriel is
moderately a person who feels inclined to withhold information about his feelings and thoughts.
When certain circumstances happen, these factors make him think about so much of his own life as
that of the life of any nearby person to him in general. Gabriel, for example, would like to love
intensely his wife, but his ambition to have control of her feelings is stronger than anything else,
(Joyce 213). As a consequence, he maintains a great deal of memories of his relationship to his wife
Greta in the past that are important for him. Notwithstanding, Gabriel recognizes that his marriage has
not been quite favorable, but hopes the tension between them may someday

The Rise Of The Young Social Entrepreneur
Corporate America has had a long history of producing jobs and income for everyday families. Just as
society has evolved, social entrepreneurship has also evolved becoming more focused on solving
problems rather than merely accumulating income. For years and years America has been a consumer
based economy, but in recent years entrepreneurship in a social manner has become a popular
ambition. Corporate drones have influenced society for centuries, however because of the rise of
social entrepreneurship the entrepreneurial age is here, and many people have jumped at the chance to
make a difference with the development of various initiatives. For that reason, many have identified it
as The Rise of the Young Social Entrepreneur.

As they raise awareness for positive social changes through non profit businesses and government aid,
the time is certainly right for change to social problems. Several governments and philanthropies have
fallen short to address these problems, but it has been the rise of social entrepreneurs who have
decided to answer back with change. J. Gregory Dees an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Director of
Duke s Fuqua School of Business Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship says, social
entrepreneurship as any form of social entrepreneurship that is worth promoting broadly must be
about establishing new and better ways to improve the world. Social entrepreneurs implement
innovative programs, organizational structures, or resource strategies that increase their chances of
achieving deep, broad, lasting, and cost effective social impact. In early years, entrepreneurship has
seen great success by those who perceived a need. For example, Susan B. Anthony, who was a
prominent women s right activist in the 19th century initiated the women s suffrage movement.
Anthony developed innovative solutions to social problems and fought for women s rights in the
United States. Others like Vinoba Bhave founder and leader of the Land Gift Movement, redistributed
7,000,000 acres of land to aid India s landless and untouchables. Due to people like Anthony, Bhave ,

Eugene Delacroix Heroic Figures And The Status Viatoris...
McCann, Carmen L. 2006. Eugene Delacroix s Heroic Figures and the Status Viatoris. Constructions
Of Death, Mourning Memory Conference, October 27 29, 2006: Proceedings 29 32. McCann argues
that Eugene Delacroix included status viatoris, representations of a state between life and death, in his
works and discusses their importance to depicting a heroic death. This chapter looks at Delacroix s
works, including Liberty Leading the People from, multiple approaches, including biography, social
history, and semiotics. They begin by looking at Delacroix s biography and his connection with the
revolution he painted. McCann then goes into the social history by addressing not only those who
participated in the revolution and are thus depicted in the painting, but also looking at the motivation
for starting revolution. He then goes on to look at the lack iconography usually associated with death
on the lying figures in the foreground and the implication that within specifically marking them as
dead, the bodies exist in a place between life and death. This semiotic, post structuralist approach is
useful when engaging with this painting because it allows for multiple interpretations and readings of
heroic death in Delacroix s work. The intersection of all three approaches provide strong evidence for
McCann s argument. They prove to be a useful combination when approaching Delacriox s Liberty
Leading the People.
Mora, Stephanie. Delacroix s Art Theory and His Definition of Classicism. Journal of Aesthetic
Education 34, no. 1 (2000): 57 75. This article looks broadly at Delacroix s body of work and provides
many approaches. The two most prominent approaches used would have to be social history and
biography, but given the time period and subject matter of many of Delacroix s work, it is not
surprising that these two would be popular. Mora does a good job at addressing the issue of self
perception by looking at how Delacroix like to depict himself not only in his paintings, but his
writings as well. Through this conversation, she challenges the use of psychoanalysis as an approach
to Delacroix work and highlights how using his self fashioning as evidence does not hold up for a
strong analysis. When engaging with

The Advantage And Disadvantages Of Pyrometer
Pyrometer is a touch less type temperature measuring device. In other words, pyrometer is a
transducer that makes use of the visible or invisible radiation emitted by an object to determine its
temperature without any physical contact with it. It is used to measure the surface temperatures of
very hot objects like furnaces and distant objects without actually being in contact with it. It intercepts
and measures the thermal radiation emitted by the object, a process called pyrometry. The word
pyrometer originated from the Greek word for fire, Ļ€Ļ…Ļ (pyro) and meter meaning to measure. Due to
its speed, accuracy, specific advantages and economy, pyrometer is gaining acceptance in new fields.

Originally pyrometry was a strictly visual measuring method. In early times the experienced

Also it is not useful for obtaining continuous values of temperature at small intervals. It also depends
on the skill of the user. ADVANTAGES
Pyrometers are widely used these days due the following advantages:
1) Fast response time Pyrometers have very short response time. In the case of normal thermometers
,the probe must first reach the same temperature of the object and this takes time due to thermal
conduction. But in the case of pyrometers, the radiation is being measured and the temperature is
shown.
2) Affect on temperature and material As an optical pyrometer uses a portion of the energy radiated by
the target object, it does not affect the temperature of the target in the act of measuring .Also the life of
contact free measuring devices is more in comparison to the thermo elements as the latter gets
damaged due to wear and tear.
3) Measuring moving objects Due to its short response time, pyrometers can be used to measure the
temperature of fast moving

An invasive species is a plant, fungus, or animal species that is not native to a specific location and
one point should be noticed is that invasive species does not have to come from another country. For
example, lake trout are native to the Great Lakes, but are considered to be an invasive species in
Yellowstone Lake because they compete with native cutthroat trout for habitat. Although there are
some invasive species arrive with spread and establish populations, like the native butterflies feed on
non native plants in California, the alien trees help restore abandoned pastures to a condition suitable
for native plants in Puerto Rico and even the much maligned zebra mussel helps filter toxins from

Hinduism And The Indian Culture
After reading the article, I think rituals have some basic structures of meaning, and there are number
of ways to show that rituals are meaningful. In the following thesis I choose Hinduism as an example
to show how rituals are meaningful, how it relates to the living context of the Indian people, how the
Indians enact the Hindu rituals, and so on.
India is a country full of mysteries and differences. It has a long history, a profound yet unique culture,
with diversified nationalities, races, religions, languages and a huge population. The pursuit of
secularism and inveteracy of sectarianism have brought huge influence to the Indian society. As the
mainstream culture in India, Hinduism plays an important role in the Indian society and has dominated
almost 2000 years of its history. Although in the following years since, the Indian culture gradually
becomes a combination of different races, religions and languages, Hinduism still remains to be the
key to dig into the development of the culture and society of India.
First, the Hindu s worship of the imperishability of gods is the spiritual power for the Indians faith and
persistence in overcoming difficulties and obstacles in the long history of development.
There are numerous gods in Hinduism, in which the most important ones including the Creator
Brahma, the Preserver Vishnu and the Destroyer Siva. Brahma created the earth, the mortal world and
the heaven, Vishnu safeguards the world and preserves the order and peace in

My Reflection Of Leadership And Leadership

thank god, but I m now in the middle of finals week looking back and pondering who I am becoming.
She s nothing like who I would ve imagined when I was younger but she s stronger and more

semester has been Intro to management because of it s immediate applicability. I realized I had
strengths I had never recognized and things I could grow in. As we covered each module I tried to
analyze myself and compare myself currently to who I d want to be. I want to a mentor who can help
encourage constructive conflict, and help create change by leveraging my power ethically and
effectively. I want to become a visionary who can bring about change in the world and in my
workplace by effectively walking people through the process of change, but I know in order to do that
I need to learn boundaries and how to keep people accountable for non compliance. I could also learn
a lot about how to better organize and coordinate projects, after I have communicated the vision.

Essay On Haste And Immature In Romeo And Juliet
As a late father, author, experienced polymath, brilliant inventor and politician Benjamin Franklin
often informed people to take time for all things: great haste makes great waste. Being one of the
founding fathers of the United States, Franklin declared that haste will lead to missed opportunities
and chaos. He also indicated that you should take time to think of every outcome, that may include
thinking about other people s fate or just your own. The adults and the young adolescents in this play

Juliet is willing to die for him regardless of the place or how they met; even though Juliet did not get
notified of his name until after the party. These are the leading factors of haste and immaturity found
in children and while there are many more prime examples of it, there are also excessive amounts to
do with adult haste and immaturity. Although parents or adults will not admit it to the younger
audience, they can be immature and hasty. There are no rules about how to act and everyone makes
mistakes, as it is natural to want to rush into things and do their job accurately even if they do not have
experience in that field. Juliet s father, Capulet is one of the several victims of haste and immaturity.

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Essay
Bipolar Disorder or manic depressive disorder is a disorder characterized by highs, manias, and lows,
depressions, and can therefore be easily distinguished from unipolar depression, a major depressive
disorder in DSM 5, by the presence of manic or hypomanic episodes (Miklowitz Gitlin, 2014). Bipolar
disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric
Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II
disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the
diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been
at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite
manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an
abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along
with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep.
Pressure of speech or being extremely talkative, racing thoughts or flight of ideas, distractibility, an
increase in goal directed behavior, agitation, poor judgment and impulsive decision making are more
signs and symptoms of a manic episode. A manic episode can result in unwise and potentially
dangerous behavior. Destructive behaviors can often occur with spending money, sexual

identifying and creating the Soldier of 2025 that will fight to win any complex operating environment.
Daily NCOs engage local communities to find individuals to enlist despite the changing United States
(US) society where 7 out of 10 prospects do not qualify to enlist into the Army. NCOs at this tactical
level have a tremendous challenge in their day to day operations. They have to accomplish daily
operations by overcoming many factors and challenges. These challenges include economic
conditions, persistent and unstable Middle East, China, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An average center has about six recruiters. This would mean that each recruiter would be responsible
for one appointment each day. It may seem easier to make one appointment each day, but other daily
recruiting tasks happen as well. Some recruiting centers are remote and driving applicants to the
Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) can take a full day resulting in loss of time to make the
daily appointment requirement. Arriving back at the center late and with all the other recruiters at
home, a recruiter might choose to log a fake or made up appointment in order to go home. Other daily
activities that consume Soldiers time are driving to colleges and high schools, training future Soldiers
on basic training tasking, going to gather source documents so applicants can enlist birth certificates,
medical and law documents. Time is never on a recruiter s side. It always seems that there is never
enough time in the day. Recruiters do not always have control of the day by day plan that they created
to be successful in achieving the appointments required from their leaders. They have daily
distractions that disrupt their plan constantly and in most cases, it ends up being not their fault. They

  • 2. Police Brutality And The Law Enforcement Police Brutality The duties of law enforcement involve looking after the American people. As the Los Angeles Police Department puts it, it is the police s duty to Protect and Serve the community. As Americans, we should expect to be able to rely on local police to solve our problems and bring peace and stability to society. Yet, as current events have shown, these promises are not always fulfilled. Since the late 1960s, America has begun to grow from a racially segregated nation, into one of unity and equality. Today there is no doubt that immense progress has been made, however events involving our law enforcement and minorities has seemed to halt such progress. Police brutality continues to be a major issue nationwide with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recently, the public has begun to once again rise up against such heinous crimes that seem to hail from an era before civil rights. Police brutality notoriously rose during the 1990s. The most guilty of this was the Los Angeles Police Department. After the introduction of crack cocaine plagued the streets of American cities, Los Angeles took the initiative of upgrading its CRASH Unit (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums). By April 1988, nearly 1,567 minorities were arrested on just one weekend, yet about 10% of these arrests actually led to felony convictions. By 1998, the CRASH unit was embroiled once again in a scandal known as the Rampart Scandal. More than seventy officers assigned to the Rampart Division were accused of strong police misconduct. These officers were accused of targeting minorities and planting evidence on these victims, framing them to higher their positions in the LAPD. (Source #3) In the middle of all this, one case would implant the image of police brutality to all Americans for years to come. On March 4, 1991, an African American man named Rodney King had been drinking earlier in the night and was on his way home, speeding on the highway which brought attention to an officer stationed there and proceed to pursue King. • 3. The Three Men that Escaped Alcatraz Escaping Alcatraz After the three men escaped Alcatraz the FBI had a 17 year trial. How did the three men escape Alcatraz? The three men were John and Clarence Anglin, Frank Morris. There were four men total involved in the escape. Allen West was the only one that could not get out of his cell through the hole. How did the three men escaped? Frank used a clay head to put in his bed while escaping so when the guards looked at his cell they saw his (fake) head. They used spoons to dig a tunnel that took over a year. The tunnel that they dug brought them to an unused corridor. West could not make it out of his cell and was left behind. From the service corridor they climbed a ventilation shaft to reach the roof. Where did the trio end up? The next morning it was discovered that the trio escaped. At first it was thought that the escapees had been decapitated. Police searched for the escapees on Alcatraz and Angel Island without success. Remnants of the raft, paddles and a bag containing the Anglins personal effects were found on Angel Island. According to the FBI, when it was theoretically possible for the 3 inmates to have reached Angel Island, the cold water temperatures and the direction of the oceans tides made this unlikely. The FBI also said that the plans of the inmates were to steal clothes and a car once they reached land, Although no car or clothing thefts were reported in the area following the escape. • 4. Ford Motor Company Case Analysis Essay Throughout the late twentieth century, the Ford Motor Company received numerous complaints regarding incidents involving their vehicles. Consumers of Ford vehicles reported that at least one of their tires spontaneous blew out while driving at highway speeds; more often than not, these accidents resulted in the driver losing control and rolling the vehicle, causing injury or death. After numerous lawsuits, lawyers began to notice a trend. Through multiple clients, they observed the majority of incidents involved Firestone tires on light Ford trucks, particularly the Ford Explorer. From the inception of the Ford Motor Company, Firestone Tires had been a primary supplier of original equipment for Ford vehicles. In the earlier 1990s, the company became the sole supplier of original equipment for light duty Ford Trucks. The Ford Explorer became the number one selling sport utility vehicle in the USA, meaning millions of potentially defective Firestone tires were out on the highways. Outside investigations found numerous issues with the Firestone Tires. One of the root issues began with the trucks rolling off of the Ford assembly lines. Their tires would be underinflated to only twenty six psi, rather than thirty psi, as recommended by Firestone. The tires pressures will naturally decrease over time, thus causing the tires to become dangerously low on air. As the tires deflate, more rubber makes contact with the road, increasing the amount of friction between surfaces. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Genetically Modified Food And Its Effects On The Consumer In the year 2050, nearly 10 billion people will call Earth home. Food producers must increase food production by 70% in order to feed the increasing population (Rangel, 2015, para. 20). A solution to increase the production from farms across the globe is to genetically modify food. Scientists can manipulate the genes of different crops to increase the crops size, quantity, shelf life and even resistance to pests. In recent years, genetically modified foods have begun to show up in grocery stores across the globe. Some consumers do not object to eating genetically modified food, but others have started to question how genetically modified food could affect the consumer. Rangel (2015) wrote that genetically modified objects are not new to society and should be nothing to worry about. He stated that humans have altered the genetics of organisms for over 30,000 years through the process of selective breeding or artificial selection (para. 1). Selective breeding may not be conducted in a lab like genetically modified objects (GMO) today, but it is comparable to GMOs because through selective breeding, farmers choose the plants with the most desirable traits and plant the seeds from those plants in order to have an enhanced crop the following year. Even though studies have found pros and cons of genetically modified food, researchers still need to conduct additional studies in order to better understand how genetically modified food could possibly affect the health of humans. Crucial To Little Women And Treasure Island Analysis Crucial to Little Women and Treasure Island is Amy March s and Jim Hawkins journey abroad which also shows the characters trajectory from innocence to maturity. Certainly, both novels belong to the sub genre of bildungsroman which is by definition, a story that depicts a journey from childhood to maturity. In spite of their different goals and outcomes, it is possible to trace some sort of parallelism between both journeys as they were indirectly intended to shape their characters in line with the social norms of that time. First and foremost, in Little Women, Amy s castle in the air was to be an artist, and go to Rome, and do fine pictures, and be the best artist in the whole world (Alcott, 2008). In same paper where he rediscovered the Jarnik s algorithm. The algorithm was rediscovered in 1957 by Loberman and Weinberger, but avoided to be renamed after them. The main idea of Kruskal s algorithms is as follows: Scan all the edges in the increase of weight order; [If any edge is safe, keep it (i.e. add it to the set A)] Kruskal s Algorithm is directly based on generic MST algorithm. It builds MST in the forest. On the initial level, each of the vertex is in its own tree in the forest. Then the algorithm consider each of the edge in turn, order by the increase of weight. • 25. Negligence Is An Important Part Of Tort Study on Negligence 1.0 Introduction Negligence can be defined as lack of proper care or attention (Ludowyk, Moore, 2006). Negligence is an important part of tort. A tort is defined as a civil wrong (other than a breach of contract) in the form of a breach of duty for which the legal remedy is an award of damages. Negligence is that a reasonable person doing something which may cause damage. The purpose of this essay is to understand the three essentials of negligence. In the case Tame v New South Wales (2002) 211 CLR 317, the plaintiff had been in a traffic accident. She was tested and returned a zero blood alcohol level. However, the police officer recorded as 0.14 by mistake. Later, it was correct. In addition, the plaintiff s lawyer told her the truth and it would not affect her insurance. Then the plaintiff was obsessed and had a mental problem. In this case, the plaintiff s mental problem is not a reasonable foreseeable injury. Therefore, the police officer had not been under a duty of care and the state was not liable. 3.2 Recognised duties of care The way to recognise duties of care is to find if there is a law regarding relationship between the plaintiff and the defendant (Pentony, 2013). For example, the teacher is under a general duty of care to provide students a safe environment to study, or the manufactures need to provide a higher quality good to customers. 3.3 Neighbourhood factors If the case is not in an established category, the Court may look at the important characteristics of this case to establish an existent neighbourhood relationship to justify a duty of care. In order to establish it, the Court needs to consider the plaintiff s weakness in the matter, whether the plaintiff relays on the

Figurative Meaning Of The Dead By James Joyce The short story of Dubliners by James Joyce, The Dead, is set in the boisterous early twentieth century, which brings up the political background of Ireland at that time. This political setting was hesitant but still optimistic, as Ireland demanded independence from Great Britain and went through a climactic cultural recovery. The author James Joyce appropriately uses the main character, Gabriel Conroy, and Gabriel s wife, Gretta Conroy, to help develop the theme of encounters between the recently dead and the living within the Irish society. Both characters of Gretta Conroy and Gabriel Conroy in The Dead are also the main purpose for which the title of the story is created. Several governments and philanthropies have fallen short to address these problems, but it has been the rise of social entrepreneurs who have decided to answer back with change. J. Gregory Dees an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Director of Duke s Fuqua School of Business Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship says, social entrepreneurship as any form of social entrepreneurship that is worth promoting broadly must be about establishing new and better ways to improve the world. Social entrepreneurs implement innovative programs, organizational structures, or resource strategies that increase their chances of achieving deep, broad, lasting, and cost effective social impact. In early years, entrepreneurship has seen great success by those who perceived a need. For example, Susan B. Constructions Of Death, Mourning Memory Conference, October 27 29, 2006: Proceedings 29 32. McCann argues that Eugene Delacroix included status viatoris, representations of a state between life and death, in his works and discusses their importance to depicting a heroic death. This chapter looks at Delacroix s works, including Liberty Leading the People from, multiple approaches, including biography, social history, and semiotics. They begin by looking at Delacroix s biography and his connection with the revolution he painted. McCann then goes into the social history by addressing not only those who participated in the revolution and are thus depicted in the painting, but also looking at the motivation for starting revolution. He then goes on to look at the lack iconography usually associated with death on the lying figures in the foreground and the implication that within specifically marking them as dead, the bodies exist in a place between life and death. This semiotic, post structuralist approach is useful when engaging with this painting because it allows for multiple interpretations and readings of heroic death in Delacroix s work. The intersection of all three approaches provide strong evidence for McCann s argument. They prove to be a useful combination when approaching Delacriox s Liberty Leading the People. Mora, Stephanie. Delacroix s Art Theory and His Definition of Classicism. Journal of Aesthetic Education 34, no. 1 (2000): 57 75. This article looks broadly at Delacroix s body of work and provides many approaches. The two most prominent approaches used would have to be social history and biography, but given the time period and subject matter of many of Delacroix s work, it is not surprising that these two would be popular. Mora does a good job at addressing the issue of self perception by looking at how Delacroix like to depict himself not only in his paintings, but his writings as well. Through this conversation, she challenges the use of psychoanalysis as an approach to Delacroix work and highlights how using his self fashioning as evidence does not hold up for a strong analysis. In the following thesis I choose Hinduism as an example to show how rituals are meaningful, how it relates to the living context of the Indian people, how the Indians enact the Hindu rituals, and so on. India is a country full of mysteries and differences. It has a long history, a profound yet unique culture, with diversified nationalities, races, religions, languages and a huge population. As the mainstream culture in India, Hinduism plays an important role in the Indian society and has dominated almost 2000 years of its history. Bipolar disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep.
