A Brief Note On Vegetation Surrounding A River
Background
Riparian vegetation surrounding a river plays a vital role in the input of energy into the river system in
the form of dead leaves, twigs, and branches (Knight et al., 1984). Every year during the fall,
deciduous trees begin to drop their leaves as they prepare for winter. Leaves dropped from riparian
vegetation typically find their way into the river system, whether it be by wind, direct fall, or strong
rains. This annual event also serves as an important annual influx of energy for the river ecosystem. In
Bear Brook, New Hampshire, 99% of the annual input energy into the freshwater aquatic system is
allochthonous from the forested watershed or upstream areas (Fisher and Likens, 1973). Of this 99%,
44% is provided by leaf and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In lentic habitats, floating leaf matter tends to settle down in the water column and cease drifting
(Cummins et al. 1980). If leaves cease drifting, then they are no longer able to collect in riffles and
form leaf packs downstream.
Downstream from the dam, lentic habitats are converted to lotic and erosion increases as a result of
the faster moving water (McConnell and Lowe McConnell, 1987). Given the fact that, above the dam,
leaves are taken out of the system as a result of settling, there may then be less leaves to collect in the
riffles downstream from the dam. Also, since the water below the dam is faster flowing than what it is
upstream, riffles that may have produced large leaf packs are scoured of leaves by the high water
velocity. Since shredders depend on leaf mats as a source of food, it is likely that they are also affected
by the presence of the dam.
Justification
While many studies have focused on the changes of habitat and populations of aquatic invertebrates
caused by low head dams (eg., Dean et al., 2002; Tiemann et al., 2004; Santucci et al., 2005) there
have been no studies conducted that focus specifically on the effects of low head dams on the
formation of leaf packs or how the presence of these leaf packs affect shredder abundance. Shredders
are important to the river ecosystem, as they are one of the key groups of aquatic insects found within

Class 15 007
Abstract
The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan has been an active terrorist group in Central Asia since 1991.
Before 1991, it was not structured and consisted of different extremist s small groups, in particular the
Adalat group. Its original goals were to overthrow the government of Uzbekistan, in particular
Uzbekistan s President Karimov and to establish an Islamic Caliphate in Central Asian countries. After
the United States of America s invasion of Afghanistan that followed the September 11, 2001 attacks
in New York and Washington, the IMU reallocated to the borders in Afghanistan and Pakistan. During
this time, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan s leaders were killed, Juma Namangani in November 2001
and Tahir Yuldashev, in August 2009. Despite changes within the group, they continued to operate in
and around South Waziristan, Pakistan and Afghanistan, against Coalition Forces. Today, the IMU
takes the form of a decentralized network that has become unpredictable, making it hard to target.
Even though it is displaced from their original areas of operations, the IMU continues to persevere.
There is a risk in the future that the IMU will thrive and pose a danger with its new allegiance to the
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Nursing Case Study On Chlamydia Trachomatis
A young mother brings her newborn baby to the pediatrician for a follow up visit a week after giving
birth to her son at home. She states that everything is going well and that the baby has not had any
troubles apart from a goopy left eye that started to appear last night. She had a midwife present during
the birth, which did not have any complications. She was able to keep her prenatal appointments with
her OB/GYN clinician for the first few months of pregnancy, but then stopped because her husband
was fired from his job and they were left without health insurance. Her husband recently has been able

The Rights Of Minority Rights
The founding fathers feared that setting up a democracy where the power is all in the hands of the
majority would allow the majority to take control over everyone else in the country. This would
directly cause a denial of rights of minorities. Thomas Jefferson said in his inaugural address, All, too,
will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail,
that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal
law must protect, and to violate would be oppression (1). Although defying majority rule may anger
the people the government s most important duty is to protect minority rights rather than following
majority rule. The worst result that could occur would be to deny minority rights because of a lack of
government protection.
Although a democracy is focused on majority rule the rights of the minorities must not be ignored. A
principle of democracy is that everyone receives equal opportunities in order to fight to become the
majority. By protecting minority rights we are protecting the individual. Our government was set up
giving rights to every person so that everyone can have an equal opportunity. For example the right to
freedom of speech gives minority groups the opportunity to voice their complaints and cause a
positive change from the government. If minorities are not given the right to voice their opinion and
fight to become a majority they will never be on an equal

Article Titled Personal Critical Reaction to the Case for...
Part 1 Personal Critical Reaction Conspiracy to commit murder is one of the most difficult things to
prove without a reasonable doubt and because the prosecution was aware that the case for murder
against the former Sheriff, Dorsey was based upon a conspiracy charge the course of action for the
prosecution was relatively clear. They had to somehow convince a jury that Dorsey had recruited the
four other men, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, Melvin Walker and David Ramsey with the express intent
of killing Derwin Brown. The reason that these types of murder charges are fundamentally difficult to
prosecute lies in the fact that if the recruiter/master mind behind the event is ultimately successful on
the first attempt to obtain an assassin, there rarely anyone, other than the actual killer(s) to testify that
the mastermind in fact ordered and also likely made some sort of compensation for the act on the part
of the assassin(s). In this case the prosecution proved to this jury using the testimony of, Patrick Cuffy,
Paul Skyers, two of the admitted assassins, on immunity deals to provide evidence against Dorsey.
The ethical dilemma is then the immunity deals offered to Cuffy and Skyers. The dilemma is
fascinating as these sorts of immunity deals, in the case of murder are relatively rare, as most people
feel that the actual doer of the crime, is as guilty or more guilty than the mastermind behind it, as that
individual(s) has the ultimate decision making as to whether the crime

New Year s Resolutions Are A Common Tradition
New Year s Resolutions are a common tradition ritualizing the end of one year and beginning of the
next. I once worked in an athletic club and the swell of people from Jan. 2 until about mid February
was expected. Regulars prior to the New Year grumbled, but expected it. Staff was temporarily beefed
up, happy to be more able to pay Christmas bills. The effect on everyone was temporary. Very few of
the new faces we met Jan. 2 were seen on the treadmill a mere 6 weeks later. This year, I was asked to
prepare a class about New Year s Resolutions and Christianity. I found very little tying the tradition of
New Year s Resolutions to the practice or faith in being a Christian. One strong connection involved
John Edwards (1703 1758), a respected theologian who served as President of Princeton University.
He was known, in part for tremendous rigor and discipline in improving his life, his thinking and his
relationship to God. His resolutions, which he reviewed regularly, can be found here:
http://www.biblebb.com/files/edwards/resolutions.htm. In preparation for class, I pondered the reasons
we fail so frequently on our resolutions. Trying to link Christianity with New Year s Resolutions, I
wondered how often we turned to God in trying to sustain the changes. New Year s Resolutions are
often a pull yourself up by your bootstrap intention. We expect to make often radical changes in our
perspective and routine. We expect to do this on our own power. The characteristics

Advantages Of Multiplier

Abstract: A processor consumes considerable amount of processing time in performing arithmetic
operations, particularly multiplication. Multiplication is one of the basic arithmetic operation and
makes use of more hardware resources and processing time than addition and subtraction. In fact,
multiplication is 8.72% of all the instruction in typical processing unit. In this paper comparative study
is done of four multipliers namely, Array multiplier, Modified booth multiplier, Wallace tree multiplier
and modified Booth Wallace tree multiplier based of various performance parameters like speed, area,
power consumed and circuit complexity .

The Modified Booth multiplier design uses a modified Booth encoder and selector technique to reduce
and rearrange the partial products. This reduces the number of gate count and improves the
performance of the multiplier. The Booth encoder encodes the multiplier bits using Radix 4 or Radix 8
algorithm. A k bit binary number can be interpreted as a k/2 digit Radix 4 number, a k/3 digit Radix 8
number and so on, that deals with more than one multiplier bits in each cycle for using high radix
multiplication [6].
The modified Radix 4 Booth algorithm is widely used when the operands are equal to or greater than
16 bits. In this algorithm, the two s complement of a multiplier is encoded in order to reduce the
number of partial products that needs to be added. The multiplier, Y can be written in two s
complement form as: [8]
Y= Yn 12n 1+ ΣiYi2i ; 0 ≤ i ≤

Franklin s Tale And Great Expectations Essay
Whereas The Franklin s Tale begins with marriage, Great Expectations seems to end with one;
although whether these are truly happy marriages can be questioned. Towards the alternate ending of
Great Expectations Estella and Pip meet in the ruins of Satis House, symbolising their ruined lives.
Estella first shows signs of her emotions towards Pip when she says I have often thought of you
although this is purposeful by Dickens in order to maintain her emotionless personae. Pip proceeds to
reply with You have always held your place in my heart , again attempting to prove to her that she has
maintained his love throughout the years. Their complex relationship distinctly contrasts with that of
Arveragus and Dorigen s as there is much less chemistry and appreciation between Pip and Estella
that suggests they have never been in love with one another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Estella allows Pip to express physical affection through a kiss on the hand and cheek, which she

indicating indifference towards his affection, which is because of, what critic Michelle Ossa stated as
She cannot be in love with him. She thinks of him as a brother, because they grew up together. This,
accompanied with Miss Havisham s strict upbringing and her lust for revenge against the male sex,
leaves Estella with no affection for Pip to influence her into marrying him. However, the last line, I
saw no shadow of another parting from her, indicates that Estella may have never left Pip after this

The Democratic Party And Jacksonian Democracy
Political parties are formed when voters have different ideology regarding government, economics,
and politics. The Second Party System emerged after the Democratic and Whig parties came to power
in America. The development of this party system was prompted by the clashing philosophies about
individual rights, government control, and land acquisition. Despite both parties being equally
prevalent in America, the Democratic Party flourished and was drastically much more successful than
the Whig Party at impacting the nation. Between 1824 and 1828, with the support of Andrew Jackson,
the Democratic Party was born. The beginning of this new Democratic era was known as Jacksonian
Democracy because it was led by Jackson and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Whigs coined their name from the 18th century word used to describe American and British
opponents of tyranny. They called themselves this because they believed that Jackson abused his
presidential veto and turned into a tyrant. The majority of the Whig party consisted of highly skilled
workers, successful business owners, and manufacturers that lived in New England and the Upper
Midwest. The Whig Party favored government support in economic and social affairs. The Whigs
believed that government influence promoted the growth and success of the economy. For this reason,
the Whigs favored the spread of banks, passing of tariffs, and new transportation projects. The Whigs
also believed that they could promote social progress by allowing the government to have control of
society through regulations and reforms such as the prohibition of alcohol and the prohibition of
business activities on Sundays. The Whigs also aimed to make society better through the building of
hospitals, insane asylums, and public schools. Whig philosophies revolved around strengthening the
economy and creating a progressive society.
Despite having a strong presence in America, the Whig Party s influence on the government and
economy never surpassed the impact of the Democratic Party. Throughout most of the presidencies
during the 19th century, the Democrats dominated the campaign. The Democrats executed many of
their aspirations leaving a long lasting

Forensic Psychology And The Justice System
Forensic psychology is the connection between psychology and the justice system. The word forensic
derives from the Latin word forensic meaning forum the place where trials were accompanied in
Roman times. There are many definitions that exist for forensic psychology but the more narrow
definition applies to the intersection of clinical psychology to legal matters.
One of the areas of focus for Forensic psychologist is in the evaluations in Civil Proceedings. They do
an accurate assessment of examinees emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning. One of the
important evaluations that the forensic psychologist do is in Child custody. (Freedheim Weiner 2003).
A Child custody evaluation is one the most complex and challenging evaluation in which forensic
psychologist assess the parents and children. During custody dispute evaluators are required to assess
multiple people such as parents, children, parents significant others. The child custody evaluations
provide the court with information regarding what custody and visitation arrangement will be in favor
of the child. Some of the main issue that forensic psychologist that they evaluate is the child s best
interest, the purpose of the custody, parenting evaluation, evaluate the basic impact the child had by
the divorce and research special issues such as conflict between parents, alienated children, domestic
violence, sexual abuse, and relocation. The first thing that is evaluated is the best interest of the

this façade of a close father son relationship came to an end. Amir returned to his love of reading and
Baba continued with his in and out the house errands. So the fairy tale lived relationship between
Baba and Amir was fake. The kite brought the two together, but only for a short time. That act like the
events before the kite running contest did not occur. Even though he finally received his short lived

incident that happened in the alleyway. Amir sent Hassan to retrieve the prize blue kite and that what

happiness vanished. The small lived happiness did not last longer than the guilt trip he had over

A Comparison Of Shooting An Elephant And Two Fisherman
The situations and the choices of the two men in the story Shooting An Elephant by George Orwell
and Two Fisherman by Morley Callaghan effects their choices that they have on their self perception.
A common similarity can define a man s choice. Both stories confront difficult choices and their
responses to their dilemma. To summarize the theme for both these stories can be that the need for
acceptance in society can prevent an individual from doing the right thing. This theme relates to both
stories because in Shooting An Elephant, Orwell compares the narrator as the character who is trying
to prevent from shooing the elephant while in Two Fisherman, Callaghan compares doesn t want to
talk about the man but ends up having to which makes himself feel guilty about himself. Both
characters face their own problems creating dilemma and making their own decisions based on their ...

argues that these societies face a problem in just how to justify and distribute those benefits, because
each individual wants to maximize his or her share. He tries to solve this problem by formulating a
definition of justice that adequately and fairly distributes resources to those who are involved in the
creation of the resources by taking into account their role as a person and their role in society. The first
step in formulating his answer is a critique of classic utilitarianism which is described as the greatest

Response to Tracy Chapman, Cold Feet
Reading Response 3 Title: Cold Feet Author: Tracy Chapman Category: Song Lyrics The song Cold
Feet by Tracy Chapman is an inspirational song about how our wants and needs can drive us to not
only success but also to our graves. The song which was released in 1995 describes the story of how
one man had everything he could have dreamt for in life, love, a roof over his head and a loving wife.
But naturally in the society we live in not only today in the 21st century but also the society that was

wants to be an honest man and this is shown within the verse of He d struggled all his life to be an
honest man, Proud that the dirt on his palms was the soil of the land, but some guys he knew from
high school days said they had a plan to get rich quick . This I certainly can relate to as I always want
others to be proud of me and proud of what I have achieved in my life so far. If I feel that I have not
fulfilled this, then I will work harder to show them that they should be proud. When I first heard this
song, I was at a very young age and did not understand what the warning that the lyrics were telling. I
continued to work for peoples approval and would do anything to do so, including wanting everything

What Does Red Symbolize In Beloved
Skylar Leaf
American Gothic Mid Term
The Use of Color in Beloved In Beloved, color is a common and important theme, especially the color
red. This is because color can symbolize a variety of different things such as a specific emotion or a
memory. Throughout Beloved Morrison uses color to give various meanings to various objects and
spaces. The emotional qualities of the characters in Beloved are so strong that Morrison utilizes color
as a way to express their feelings. Since the book tells a story about slavery and the color of a persons
skin, color in the book is often used as a way to express conflict. In Beloved, color is seen as the cause
of all the trouble and tension in the novel. The color red is a commonly used symbol in Beloved ...

One of the first appearances of the color red in the novel is when Paul D enters 124 and is frozen in a
pool of red and undulating light that locked him where he stood. (Morrison 10) There is also a
common theme of Paul D s red heart which has been replaced by his old tobacco tin.
He would not pry it loose now in front of this sweet, sturdy woman, for if she got a whiff of the
contents it would shame him. And it would hurt her to know that there was no red heart bright as
Mister s comb beating in him. (Morrison 86)
The idea of the red heart represents the pain of Paul D s past and the life as well as manhood he was
denied. There are many other examples of the color red in Beloved. For example, the red rooster
which for Paul D represents the manhood in which he was denied. Amy Denver s red velvet represents
the notion of a happiness sometime off in the future, which Sethe believes Amy will never reach. The
red choke cherry tree which was whipped into Sethe s back as well as the memory of the blood of her
dead child are a constant reminder to Sethe of the horrors and negative memories of her life.
The use of many other colors as symbols occur throughout Beloved, even on the first page of the
novel where Morrison describes 124 as a dull gray and white and absent of any color, which sets the
tone for the space in which a large portion of the novel takes

Discontinuous Species Criticisms
Nature is very much discontinuous, but natural selection acts in a continuous manner, so the hard part
is finding out how nature is filled with these discrete and discontinuous groups called species. The
common criticism is that the inability to observe the formation of the new species means natural
selection is causing it, and the species never actually form, but as Coyne says, ...it s like saying that
because we haven t seen a single star go through its complete life cycle, stars don t evolve, or because
we haven t see a new language arise, languages don t evolve (183). Just because we aren t seeing the
new species form right away, it doesn t mean it isn t happening. As stated before, it can take a lot time

Temporal isolating mechanisms include the time at which species mate during the year can affect the

species and how they are able to find mate. An example includes male birds having specific songs
they sing to find females. Mechanical isolating mechanisms include the way in which a species will
mate, including the genitalia. Post zygotic isolating mechanisms include: hybrid inviability, hybrid
infertility, and hybrid breakdown. Hybrid inviability happens when the hybrid is produced but cannot
develop and eventually dies. Hybrid infertility occurs when the hybrid develops, but is unable to
reproduce because it is sterile. Hybrid breakdown occurs when the hybrids in the first generation are

Earthquakes Essay
Earthquakes
Throughout history, man has made many advancements. These advancements have been made to
make life easier. The one thing man can t do is to control Mother Nature. Mother Nature can cause
many things such as earthquakes.
The causes of earthquakes have been theorized in many ways. According to the book
Predicting Earthquakes by Gregory Vogt, the Greeks, blamed the earthquakes on Poseidon, god of the
sea (25). The Hindu believed that the earth was a platform that rested on the back of eight great
elephants. When one of the elephants grew weary, it lowered and shook its head causing the ground

He made tests, drew a world map, and recreated earthquakes only to find that rocks are being
overstressed at the faults. A fault is the place where two plates meet and are rubbed against each other
(Groiler Electronic Publishing,

faults: normal, reverse, and strike slip. By careful observation and measurement, geologists, acting
like detectives, can tell how much a fault moved, which part went up, which part went down, and
which way the fault moved (Vogt 26). When one of the plates slip under the great amount of stress at
the fault, an earthquake occurs. The shaking we feel are the passing of long waves (Putnam 443). The
L waves (long waves) travel at slower velocities that the primary and secondary waves. These waves
make the largest squiggles on a seismograph but their effect diminishes rapidly with distance. The L
waves are limited to the crust (Putnam 443).
One of the two kinds of waves are Primary waves are a kin to sound waves, and thus produce alternate
compression and rarefaction in the medium through which they travel much like the waves that spread

Germans in the war as the enemy. In the battle the enemy is shown as evil to make the audience feel

more immune to shocking films and television programmes. He presents a dynamic king duped into
fighting a bloody, vicious war whose victory is undone within a generation. Olivier s version is quite
pro war whereas Branagh s version seems very anti war. This film portrays his negative attitude to war
by emphasising the realism of the battle. The gore and realistic fighting will have shocked the

Loss Of Identity Paper
Loss of identity Identity is the all encompassing view of who you are as an individual and contain
many different parts such as your goals, values and beliefs as well as your standards for behavior and
decision making (Schwartz, Luyckx, Vignoles, 2011). Many individuals suffering from ME feel a loss
of identity as the illness progresses. Dickson, Knussen, and Flowers (2008) discusses how ME forces
a change in an individuals identity, though the progression of the illness they are now experiencing life
outside of what is normal for them and outside of their normal world. In one study participants spoke
of ME controlling every aspect of their daily lives, there is a strong focus on what ME has taken away
from them, leading individuals to question what is left in their lives (Dickson, Knussen, Flowers,

an individual looses all the things in life that create meaning for them they are left with an empty shell

Virtues in the Anglo Saxons
In the 8th century, an epic poem of Beowulf written by an anonymous author embodies the ideal
characteristics of Anglo Saxons. During the time of Anglo Saxons, Beowulf is used to convey similar
qualities such as virtues, belief and traits in which the character of B Beowulf possess. For example,
Beowulf exhibits Bravery, Loyalty, and strength. Beowulf s action symbolizes him as the epitome of a
True Hero because he demonstrates an important role in society. Beowulf s heroic character reflects
him to be the greatest of all and willingness to risk his life for ideals that he portrays. Throughout the
tale, he travels across the sea to the great land of Danes to fight creatures that nobody else wants to
face such as Grendel, Grendel s mother and his final battle with the Dragon. Beowulf is a well
respected and loved human being because of his capability to overcome obstacles in his lifetime.
Anglo Saxons was well known to have their own beliefs and it was that they didn t believe in the
afterlife. Therefore, having immorality through fame was the only afterlife a man could have. He earns

Hellenistic Period Essay
This paper will look at the political including economic, and cultural and social developments during
the Hellenistic period. I personally found that there are many positive developments; whereas the least
positive development I found were the multiple wars that ravaged the Hellenistic civilization
especially the Wars of the Successors (322 275 B.C.).
Many economic developments came about during the Hellenistic period, historians state that it was
second in terms of magnitude to the Commercial and Industrial Revolutions of the modern era.
Several important events led to these economic developments: firstly, the opening up of the vast trade

Thomas Bruce And The Elgin Marbles
Thomas Bruce and the Elgin Marbles Thomas Bruce, 7th Earl of Elgin and 11th Earl of Kincardine
(b.1766), was a Scottish aristocrat and diplomat who gained notoriety in the early 19th century with
the controversial acquisition of a large number of Greek artworks, primarily from the Parthenon in
Athens which collectively became known as the Elgin Marbles. With permission from the occupying
Ottoman Empire, Thomas Bruce removed and transported the pieces between 1801 and 1805.
Originally rejected by the British government, they were purchased from Lord Elgin in 1816 and now
reside in the British Museum. The Marbles have been a point of contention between Greece and the
United Kingdom ever since. Outraged by what they considered a theft of one of their greatest
treasures, the Greek Government has spent the last 200 years attempting to repatriate the Marbles back
to Athens. The burning question has always been: Who is Lord Elgin and did he really steal the
Marbles from Greece or were they obtained legally? And where is their rightful place today? Lord
Elgin born in Broomhall, Fife, and came into his title at the early age of just 5 years old. He received a
typical education for a person of his rank and after having obtained several promotions while
commissioned in the army, he was elected to the House of Lords at the age of 24, and soon thereafter
was recruited into the diplomatic corps. After serving many years in the diplomatic service in

World History Reflection
On June 26th, I started my first online college class. I thought World History would be a great place to
start and relatively easy course to pass. I had no idea how the class would make significant changes in
my life. This class was far from a few easy credits I thought I would acquire in the short 8 weeks. The
few weeks with Professor Jared Harrington increased my literacy towards topics I would have given
up in the past. This class affected my world view, improved me as a student, a learner, enlightened my
view on world religions, forced me to analyze information from readings, and helped me formulate
my own thoughts. The amount of material covered in this course was immense and I now believe I
have a better view of religion, its role in history, and where the world is heading due to all the
historical events of the past. The first couple weeks of class were really interesting to me because we
covered the first humans, the rise of ancient civilizations in Southern Asia, and the beginnings of
religions that are still practiced today. The first society started in Mesopotamia in a lush, fertile, river
valley. I learned about the Paleolithic Age, Neolithic Revolution, and the Mesolithic age. The
Mesopotamian societies wanted to be able to explain things in nature so they created polytheism. This
helped bring together a group of people who shared the same beliefs, forming a civilization. During
the first couple of weeks, I learned of the major religions and philosophies we

Mary Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Analysis
On the left we have Caravaggio, The Conversion of St. Paul, 1600, and on the right we have Georges
de la Tour, Magdalen with the Smoking Flame, 1640. These two paintings represent major movements
within art such as the influence of artists on one another, and the approach of religious paintings
during the seventeenth century. Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio was known for
introducing realism and drama by using theatrical lighting and gesture to Italian Baroque art.
Caravaggio s paintings were focused on religious matter commissioned for the Catholic Church.
Georges de la Tour was well known in his own time but then forgotten until well into the twentieth
century. His work consisted mostly of candlelit subjects, and he commissioned paintings for royal
aristocrats such as King Louis XIII and Henry II of Lorraine. George de la Tour is one of the most
important examples of the many artists during the seventeenth century who were greatly influenced by
the work of Caravaggio.

reflective state of a follower of Christ. This painting shows Mary Magdalen, a repentive prostitute,
putting aside her jewels and rich clothing to meditate on mortality while looking into a flickering

Socially Constructed Stereotypes
Socially constructed stereotypes play a role in the way that female professionals are perceived in the
workplace (Wolfson 44). If there were firm wide regulations for professional attire that were
applicable to both women and men, then it would be appropriate. Female lawyers have a long standing
effort of pushing boundaries of what is considered appropriate for the courtroom (Farmer 5). A private
firm can make the determination to enforce a dress code, but it cannot be discriminatory towards
protected classes such as sex or religion, therefore, it is not appropriate for firms to restrict attire
monitoring to female attorneys (Title VII, EEOC).
The mixed motive framework of dress codes is difficult to unravel when it comes to female
professionals.

Post-Keynesian Economic Essay
Post Keynesian economic was formed and developed by economists such as Joan Robinson and
Nicholas Kaldor who believed Keynesian economics was based on disequilibrium and uncertainty,
and that challenges the general equilibrium assumptions of neo classical theory. The main aim of post
Keynesian economics is to complete the unfinished Keynesian revolution.
Post Keynesian economists fundamentally used ideas from Keynes and his concept of effective
demand, Marxist economist Michael Kalecki to provide a critique of neo classical economics beliefs
and an alternative theory of markets. These economists again emphasise uncertainty, real time and
actual market conditions. They also revived the classical link between macroeconomic theories of ...

Characteristic of post Keynesian Economic
There?@are a number of propositions which all post Keynesians accept. Sawyer (1989) concurs with
Davidson (1981) on the following three: 1. The economy is a historical process, 2. In a certain world,
expectations have a significant and unavoidable impact on economic events and, 3. Institutions,
economic and political, are of paramount importance in shaping economic events.4
The main characteristics of post Keynesian economic can be divided into four parts.
The first of all, the existence of uncertainty, this is one of the key elements of post Keynesian analysis.
Because of the existence of uncertainty that the future is unknown and unknowable so that economic
agents?f expectations can be easily frustrated. Market forces cannot account for the unknowability and
unpredictability of the future and so can only disseminate incomplete, even misleading, information.
As the future unfolds and become the present Joan Robinson suggests that, continues adjustment must
be made. This process proceeds indefinitely without equilibrium ever being achieved, let alone
maintained. Thus history matters. 4
Relatively to the first matter, the second characteristic is ?ethe existence of irreversible time?f, where
economic agents enter into commitments well before outcomes can be predicted. ?gHistorical time is
sharply distinguished from logical time, which is rejected in post Keynesian economics. Logical time
is closely related to

THE MIDDLE LINE: As an organisation grows bigger it requires more than one manager to control
the operators. Middle line managers add strategic apex managers into the operating core with proper
authority. In broad, one set of managers directs the operators for the basic unit and another set of
managers takes charge to convert it to the higher level unit. Hence, these units come under one

they produce the feedback to the managers above them.

A Research Project On The Data Collection Process
Manatowa Research Project Report
Identify and describe key lessons learned in your data collection process
The first potential participant I spoke with on the phone asked me a question, can any staff member
volunteer to participate or do they have to be a licensed social worker ? A very valid question and
something I had not anticipated. I did not know how to answer her at first. That fact was not part of
my research design. As explained by the University of Oxford Personnel Service UAS (2015) among
the standards in research is the practice code of being honest in proposing, conducting and reporting
research. Academic research often has class timeline parameters which puts a strain on the academic
researcher. The integrity of the researcher in academic research class may be tested by shortcomings
as the result of faults in the design phase. The academic research must choose to do the right thing and
act in an ethical manner when situations arise such as in the recruitment of participants and
modifications during the data collection phase.
Research design can eliminate potential pitfalls and challenges during research data collection and
interpretation of that data. Spending more time and effort in the design phase will help to eliminate
and/or reduce such ethical situations. Crotty (1998) suggested:
1. What epistemology, theory of knowledge, embedded in the theoretical perspective, informs the
research (e.g., objectivism, subjectivism, etc.)?

What Does Disillusionment Of Ten O Clock Mean
Imagination is a crucial part of humanity. From the depths of the human mind, brilliant ideas can
emerge. The Disillusionment of Ten O Clock by Wallace Stevens, dramatizes how the average person
has lost all sense of imagination. The speaker focuses to comment on the white night gowns of the
people being observing, highlighting how typical and mundane their lives have become (2). The poem
then carries on to explain how they could have nightgowns that are purple with green rings,/Or green

Stevens, again, was very meticulous in using both a pirate and red weather. The pirate is the antithesis
of the people he is focusing on. Pirates are adventurous, bold, and place their faith in abstract concepts

imagine what they want and when. The red weather part of the poem is Stevens s way of exploring the
pirate s own imagination. Since he is free to allow his mind to roam, he can come up with obscure
ideas like red weather. It does not make sense that the weather is red, but that is the point. The reader
is supposed to question why the weather now has color, and how. It is the transitional point from
dreaming only in white, to suddenly experiencing bright color. Disillusionment of Ten o clock reaches

How the Properties of Water are Related to Its Roles in Living Organisms and as a Living
Environment for Living Organisms
Over 70% of the world s surface is covered by water, 95% of which consists of salty oceans; water is
essential to all life forms. A molecule of water consists of two hydrogen atoms covalently bound to
one atom of oxygen which gives a formula of H2O. When water molecules are close together their
positive and negative regions are attracted to the oppositely charged regions of nearby molecules. The
force of attraction, shown in the diagram below as a dotted line, is called a hydrogen bond. Each water
molecule is hydrogen bonded to four others. It is these hydrogen bonds and the ... Show more content

This also means that, compared with air, water releases heat energy slowly when situations cause it to
cool. Water s high specific heat helps organisms to regulate their body temperatures more effectively.
Water vapour is a greenhouse gas, and both the capability to keep heat in and to transfer heat from the
tropics serves to buffer temperatures on Earth. For example, as one half of the Earth rotates away from
the sun the fall in temperature is much more gradual than it would have been if there was no water
vapour in the atmosphere.
As water expands when it freezes it allows ice to float on the surface which creates an insulating layer
on lakes and rivers. This prevents the entire body of water and all the organisms living in it from
freezing. The weak hydrogen bonding means that ice has a lot of empty space. When ice melts the
frozen geometry is removed, but not all the hydrogen bonds are broken. The molecules begin to pack
more closely together to fill some of the empty space. Thus, liquid water is denser than ice. Water has
its greatest density at 4°C and this is why the top of a lake freezes first. The cooler part freezes and the
more dense water at slightly higher temperature sinks to the bottom. This helps to protect fresh water
organisms which live in the bottom. The empty space also means that ice does not conduct heat very

A SWOT analysis of using a merger to expand operations follows. A strength from performing a
merger is the ability to acquire a company s unused debt. Some firms simply do not exhaust their debt
capacity. If a firm with unused debt capacity is acquired, the new management can then increase debt
financing, and reap the tax benefits associated with the increased leverage (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4).
Another strength is enabling Baderman Island to remove an ineffective management strategy or team.
Baderman Island has the option to decide who stays with the merged company, and who is out the
door. Often times, a weak management leading team is the problem the organization has not evaluated
for its mediocre success. The merger of two firms can result in an increase in market or monopoly
power. Although this can result in increased wealth, it may also be illegal. The Clayton Act, as
amended by the Celler Kefauver Amendment of 1950, makes any merger illegal that results in a
monopoly or substantially reduces competition. The Justice Department and the Federal Trade
Commission monitor all mergers to ensure that they do not result in a reduction of competition
(Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4).
Weaknesses of a merger for Baderman Island are the many distractions that rise to the surface.
Employees may show concern with the future of his or her employment, rather than concentrating on
the job at hand, thus causing lower production and quality control.

With the numerous factors involved in the determination of liability a teacher should be well versed in

The Integration Of Officially Integrating Borrowings Into...
The integration of loanwords
With the purpose of officially integrating borrowings into the host language and for speakers to
casually use them in their conversations, all borrowings and creations undergo linguistic changes
based on the features of the recipient language. The following words will analyse the phonological and
morphosyntactic strategies used in French language contact situations.
Phonetical change
Every language has its own phonological system and therefore reproducing foreign sounds is usually a
great linguistic difficulty. The most common strategy to deal with the acoustic reproduction of
loanwords is to treat them as native words, thus, speakers approximately re interpret the sounds in
loanwords following the familiar phonological framework of the hosting language. Phonological
changes can be minimal or perhaps greatly, to the extent that speakers of the donor language may
struggle to identify the loanword as a word of their own . The result of the adaptation of loanwords
creates a certain uncertainty in the speakers. However, this instability and incertitude contribute to
maintain the foreign feature alive in foreign words, in comparison to the fixed pronunciation of
autochthonous words.
In situations where French is the recipient language, loanwords are phonologically restructured to fit
the French syllabary system. Considered being one of the most purist languages French speakers have
a strong loyalty towards their native language. It is for this

Sherlock Holmes Vs. The Great Mouse Detective
¨When you have Eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the
truth.¨ this quote is by Sherlock Holmes. What I think this means is about logic. Because if you start
with everything you know then go from there and try to solve the impossible, you re on your way to a
solution. This is like Sherlock Holmes and The Great Mouse Detective. Some ways that this quote is
like Sherlock Holmes and The Great Mouse Detective is because they are trying to figure out the
issue, so they re going to start with what they know and go from there. So that s something they have
in common. But they re also different in some ways. Like in Sherlock Holmes Watson is different than
the great mouse detective. In the films The Great

This essay will be examining the key arguments for the existence of God, in order to discuss the claim
that it is wrong to believe in anything without sufficient evidence with reference to the non existence
of God. It will be exploring both a priori and an a posteriori argument for the existence of God. It will
solely be concentrating on the Theological argument, Cosmological argument and the Ontological
argument, in order, to analyse their significance and contribution in vindicating the claim for the
existence of God. The essay will begin by providing a clear philosophical characterisation of the God
of Classical Theism, in order to accurately evaluate the arguments for his existence. The essay will
explore varying interpretations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Teleological argument is a posteriori and inductive argument. It is based on the observation of
order in the world, and that the complexity of the universe shows evidence of design. This design
implies a designer; capable and sentient, and this designer is God. The argument is split into two parts:
design qua purpose and design qua regularity (Jordan, et al., 2002). Design qua regularity looks at the
evidence of design, found in the order and regularity in the universe (Jordan, et al., 2002). It was first
developed in the 13th century by St Thomas Aquinas, who in his fifth way in Summa Theologica,
argued that the world of nature is like an arrow shot from an archer s bow, it has direction and purpose
even if it lacks awareness as some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to
their end: and this being we call God (Aquinas, 2009, p. 23). William Paley, another key contributor in
of the Teleological argument, uses the planetary movements and Newton s laws of motion are also
specific examples to provide evidence for design qua regularity part of the argument (Paley Ware,
1857).
Design qua purpose looks at the evidence of design in relation to the ways in which the parts of the
universe appear to fit together for some purpose. William Paley put forward the most famous form of
the design qua purpose argument in his book Natural Theology (Paley Ware, 1857). Paley used the
analogy of a watch and suggested

  • 2. A Brief Note On Vegetation Surrounding A River Background Riparian vegetation surrounding a river plays a vital role in the input of energy into the river system in the form of dead leaves, twigs, and branches (Knight et al., 1984). Every year during the fall, deciduous trees begin to drop their leaves as they prepare for winter. Leaves dropped from riparian vegetation typically find their way into the river system, whether it be by wind, direct fall, or strong rains. This annual event also serves as an important annual influx of energy for the river ecosystem. In Bear Brook, New Hampshire, 99% of the annual input energy into the freshwater aquatic system is allochthonous from the forested watershed or upstream areas (Fisher and Likens, 1973). Of this 99%, 44% is provided by leaf and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In lentic habitats, floating leaf matter tends to settle down in the water column and cease drifting (Cummins et al. 1980). If leaves cease drifting, then they are no longer able to collect in riffles and form leaf packs downstream. Downstream from the dam, lentic habitats are converted to lotic and erosion increases as a result of the faster moving water (McConnell and Lowe McConnell, 1987). Given the fact that, above the dam, leaves are taken out of the system as a result of settling, there may then be less leaves to collect in the riffles downstream from the dam. Also, since the water below the dam is faster flowing than what it is upstream, riffles that may have produced large leaf packs are scoured of leaves by the high water velocity. Since shredders depend on leaf mats as a source of food, it is likely that they are also affected by the presence of the dam. Justification While many studies have focused on the changes of habitat and populations of aquatic invertebrates caused by low head dams (eg., Dean et al., 2002; Tiemann et al., 2004; Santucci et al., 2005) there have been no studies conducted that focus specifically on the effects of low head dams on the formation of leaf packs or how the presence of these leaf packs affect shredder abundance. Shredders are important to the river ecosystem, as they are one of the key groups of aquatic insects found within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Islamic Movement Of Uzbekistan Analysis Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan Analysis Leniska T. Medina Cruz 35M Advance Leaders Course Class 15 007 Abstract The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan has been an active terrorist group in Central Asia since 1991. Before 1991, it was not structured and consisted of different extremist s small groups, in particular the Adalat group. Its original goals were to overthrow the government of Uzbekistan, in particular Uzbekistan s President Karimov and to establish an Islamic Caliphate in Central Asian countries. After the United States of America s invasion of Afghanistan that followed the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington, the IMU reallocated to the borders in Afghanistan and Pakistan. During this time, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan s leaders were killed, Juma Namangani in November 2001 and Tahir Yuldashev, in August 2009. Despite changes within the group, they continued to operate in and around South Waziristan, Pakistan and Afghanistan, against Coalition Forces. Today, the IMU takes the form of a decentralized network that has become unpredictable, making it hard to target. Even though it is displaced from their original areas of operations, the IMU continues to persevere. There is a risk in the future that the IMU will thrive and pose a danger with its new allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. • 5. The Rights Of Minority Rights The founding fathers feared that setting up a democracy where the power is all in the hands of the majority would allow the majority to take control over everyone else in the country. This would directly cause a denial of rights of minorities. Thomas Jefferson said in his inaugural address, All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression (1). Although defying majority rule may anger the people the government s most important duty is to protect minority rights rather than following majority rule. The worst result that could occur would be to deny minority rights because of a lack of government protection. Although a democracy is focused on majority rule the rights of the minorities must not be ignored. A principle of democracy is that everyone receives equal opportunities in order to fight to become the majority. By protecting minority rights we are protecting the individual. Our government was set up giving rights to every person so that everyone can have an equal opportunity. For example the right to freedom of speech gives minority groups the opportunity to voice their complaints and cause a positive change from the government. If minorities are not given the right to voice their opinion and fight to become a majority they will never be on an equal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Article Titled Personal Critical Reaction to the Case for... Part 1 Personal Critical Reaction Conspiracy to commit murder is one of the most difficult things to prove without a reasonable doubt and because the prosecution was aware that the case for murder against the former Sheriff, Dorsey was based upon a conspiracy charge the course of action for the prosecution was relatively clear. They had to somehow convince a jury that Dorsey had recruited the four other men, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, Melvin Walker and David Ramsey with the express intent of killing Derwin Brown. The reason that these types of murder charges are fundamentally difficult to prosecute lies in the fact that if the recruiter/master mind behind the event is ultimately successful on the first attempt to obtain an assassin, there rarely anyone, other than the actual killer(s) to testify that the mastermind in fact ordered and also likely made some sort of compensation for the act on the part of the assassin(s). In this case the prosecution proved to this jury using the testimony of, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, two of the admitted assassins, on immunity deals to provide evidence against Dorsey. The ethical dilemma is then the immunity deals offered to Cuffy and Skyers. The dilemma is fascinating as these sorts of immunity deals, in the case of murder are relatively rare, as most people feel that the actual doer of the crime, is as guilty or more guilty than the mastermind behind it, as that individual(s) has the ultimate decision making as to whether the crime ... • 7. New Year s Resolutions Are A Common Tradition New Year s Resolutions are a common tradition ritualizing the end of one year and beginning of the next. I once worked in an athletic club and the swell of people from Jan. 2 until about mid February was expected. Regulars prior to the New Year grumbled, but expected it. Staff was temporarily beefed up, happy to be more able to pay Christmas bills. The effect on everyone was temporary. Very few of the new faces we met Jan. 2 were seen on the treadmill a mere 6 weeks later. This year, I was asked to prepare a class about New Year s Resolutions and Christianity. I found very little tying the tradition of New Year s Resolutions to the practice or faith in being a Christian. One strong connection involved John Edwards (1703 1758), a respected theologian who served as President of Princeton University. He was known, in part for tremendous rigor and discipline in improving his life, his thinking and his relationship to God. His resolutions, which he reviewed regularly, can be found here: http://www.biblebb.com/files/edwards/resolutions.htm. In preparation for class, I pondered the reasons we fail so frequently on our resolutions. Trying to link Christianity with New Year s Resolutions, I wondered how often we turned to God in trying to sustain the changes. New Year s Resolutions are often a pull yourself up by your bootstrap intention. We expect to make often radical changes in our perspective and routine. We expect to do this on our own power. I had no idea how the class would make significant changes in my life. This class was far from a few easy credits I thought I would acquire in the short 8 weeks. The few weeks with Professor Jared Harrington increased my literacy towards topics I would have given up in the past. This class affected my world view, improved me as a student, a learner, enlightened my view on world religions, forced me to analyze information from readings, and helped me formulate my own thoughts. The amount of material covered in this course was immense and I now believe I have a better view of religion, its role in history, and where the world is heading due to all the historical events of the past. The first couple weeks of class were really interesting to me because we covered the first humans, the rise of ancient civilizations in Southern Asia, and the beginnings of religions that are still practiced today. The first society started in Mesopotamia in a lush, fertile, river valley. I learned about the Paleolithic Age, Neolithic Revolution, and the Mesolithic age. The Mesopotamian societies wanted to be able to explain things in nature so they created polytheism. This helped bring together a group of people who shared the same beliefs, forming a civilization. During the first couple of weeks, I learned of the major religions and philosophies we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Mary Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Analysis On the left we have Caravaggio, The Conversion of St. Paul, 1600, and on the right we have Georges de la Tour, Magdalen with the Smoking Flame, 1640. These two paintings represent major movements within art such as the influence of artists on one another, and the approach of religious paintings during the seventeenth century. Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio was known for introducing realism and drama by using theatrical lighting and gesture to Italian Baroque art. Caravaggio s paintings were focused on religious matter commissioned for the Catholic Church. Georges de la Tour was well known in his own time but then forgotten until well into the twentieth century. His work consisted mostly of candlelit subjects, and he commissioned paintings for royal aristocrats such as King Louis XIII and Henry II of Lorraine. George de la Tour is one of the most important examples of the many artists during the seventeenth century who were greatly influenced by the work of Caravaggio. In comparison, the two ... This painting shows Mary Magdalen, a repentive prostitute, putting aside her jewels and rich clothing to meditate on mortality while looking into a flickering flame. Georges creates subtle hints of religious meaning through items throughout the painting. If there were firm wide regulations for professional attire that were applicable to both women and men, then it would be appropriate. Female lawyers have a long standing effort of pushing boundaries of what is considered appropriate for the courtroom (Farmer 5). A private firm can make the determination to enforce a dress code, but it cannot be discriminatory towards protected classes such as sex or religion, therefore, it is not appropriate for firms to restrict attire monitoring to female attorneys (Title VII, EEOC). The mixed motive framework of dress codes is difficult to unravel when it comes to female professionals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Post-Keynesian Economic Essay Post Keynesian economic was formed and developed by economists such as Joan Robinson and Nicholas Kaldor who believed Keynesian economics was based on disequilibrium and uncertainty, and that challenges the general equilibrium assumptions of neo classical theory. The main aim of post Keynesian economics is to complete the unfinished Keynesian revolution. Post Keynesian economists fundamentally used ideas from Keynes and his concept of effective demand, Marxist economist Michael Kalecki to provide a critique of neo classical economics beliefs and an alternative theory of markets. Sawyer (1989) concurs with Davidson (1981) on the following three: 1. The economy is a historical process, 2. In a certain world, expectations have a significant and unavoidable impact on economic events and, 3. Institutions, economic and political, are of paramount importance in shaping economic events.4 The main characteristics of post Keynesian economic can be divided into four parts. The first of all, the existence of uncertainty, this is one of the key elements of post Keynesian analysis. Because of the existence of uncertainty that the future is unknown and unknowable so that economic agents?f expectations can be easily frustrated. Market forces cannot account for the unknowability and unpredictability of the future and so can only disseminate incomplete, even misleading, information. As the future unfolds and become the present Joan Robinson suggests that, continues adjustment must be made. This process proceeds indefinitely without equilibrium ever being achieved, let alone maintained. Thus history matters. 4 Relatively to the first matter, the second characteristic is ?ethe existence of irreversible time?f, where economic agents enter into commitments well before outcomes can be predicted. ?gHistorical time is sharply distinguished from logical time, which is rejected in post Keynesian economics. A Research Project On The Data Collection Process Manatowa Research Project Report Identify and describe key lessons learned in your data collection process The first potential participant I spoke with on the phone asked me a question, can any staff member volunteer to participate or do they have to be a licensed social worker ? A very valid question and something I had not anticipated. I did not know how to answer her at first. That fact was not part of my research design. As explained by the University of Oxford Personnel Service UAS (2015) among the standards in research is the practice code of being honest in proposing, conducting and reporting research. Academic research often has class timeline parameters which puts a strain on the academic researcher. The integrity of the researcher in academic research class may be tested by shortcomings as the result of faults in the design phase. The academic research must choose to do the right thing and act in an ethical manner when situations arise such as in the recruitment of participants and modifications during the data collection phase. Research design can eliminate potential pitfalls and challenges during research data collection and interpretation of that data. Spending more time and effort in the design phase will help to eliminate and/or reduce such ethical situations. Crotty (1998) suggested: 1. How the Properties of Water are Related to Its Roles in Living Organisms and as a Living Environment for Living Organisms Over 70% of the world s surface is covered by water, 95% of which consists of salty oceans; water is essential to all life forms. A molecule of water consists of two hydrogen atoms covalently bound to one atom of oxygen which gives a formula of H2O. When water molecules are close together their positive and negative regions are attracted to the oppositely charged regions of nearby molecules. The force of attraction, shown in the diagram below as a dotted line, is called a hydrogen bond. Each water molecule is hydrogen bonded to four others. It is these hydrogen bonds and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also means that, compared with air, water releases heat energy slowly when situations cause it to cool. Water s high specific heat helps organisms to regulate their body temperatures more effectively. Water vapour is a greenhouse gas, and both the capability to keep heat in and to transfer heat from the tropics serves to buffer temperatures on Earth. For example, as one half of the Earth rotates away from the sun the fall in temperature is much more gradual than it would have been if there was no water vapour in the atmosphere. As water expands when it freezes it allows ice to float on the surface which creates an insulating layer on lakes and rivers. This prevents the entire body of water and all the organisms living in it from freezing. The weak hydrogen bonding means that ice has a lot of empty space. When ice melts the frozen geometry is removed, but not all the hydrogen bonds are broken. The molecules begin to pack more closely together to fill some of the empty space. Thus, liquid water is denser than ice. Water has its greatest density at 4°C and this is why the top of a lake freezes first. The cooler part freezes and the more dense water at slightly higher temperature sinks to the bottom. This helps to protect fresh water organisms which live in the bottom. Some firms simply do not exhaust their debt capacity. If a firm with unused debt capacity is acquired, the new management can then increase debt financing, and reap the tax benefits associated with the increased leverage (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4). Another strength is enabling Baderman Island to remove an ineffective management strategy or team. Baderman Island has the option to decide who stays with the merged company, and who is out the door. Often times, a weak management leading team is the problem the organization has not evaluated for its mediocre success. The merger of two firms can result in an increase in market or monopoly power. The Clayton Act, as amended by the Celler Kefauver Amendment of 1950, makes any merger illegal that results in a monopoly or substantially reduces competition. The Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission monitor all mergers to ensure that they do not result in a reduction of competition (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4). The integration of loanwords With the purpose of officially integrating borrowings into the host language and for speakers to casually use them in their conversations, all borrowings and creations undergo linguistic changes based on the features of the recipient language. The following words will analyse the phonological and morphosyntactic strategies used in French language contact situations. Phonetical change Every language has its own phonological system and therefore reproducing foreign sounds is usually a great linguistic difficulty. The most common strategy to deal with the acoustic reproduction of loanwords is to treat them as native words, thus, speakers approximately re interpret the sounds in loanwords following the familiar phonological framework of the hosting language. Phonological changes can be minimal or perhaps greatly, to the extent that speakers of the donor language may struggle to identify the loanword as a word of their own . The result of the adaptation of loanwords creates a certain uncertainty in the speakers. However, this instability and incertitude contribute to maintain the foreign feature alive in foreign words, in comparison to the fixed pronunciation of autochthonous words. In situations where French is the recipient language, loanwords are phonologically restructured to fit the French syllabary system. Considered being one of the most purist languages French speakers have a strong loyalty towards their native language. It is for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is based on the observation of order in the world, and that the complexity of the universe shows evidence of design. This design implies a designer; capable and sentient, and this designer is God. The argument is split into two parts: design qua purpose and design qua regularity (Jordan, et al., 2002). Design qua regularity looks at the evidence of design, found in the order and regularity in the universe (Jordan, et al., 2002). It was first developed in the 13th century by St Thomas Aquinas, who in his fifth way in Summa Theologica, argued that the world of nature is like an arrow shot from an archer s bow, it has direction and purpose even if it lacks awareness as some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end: and this being we call God (Aquinas, 2009, p. 23). William Paley, another key contributor in of the Teleological argument, uses the planetary movements and Newton s laws of motion are also specific examples to provide evidence for design qua regularity part of the argument (Paley Ware, 1857). Design qua purpose looks at the evidence of design in relation to the ways in which the parts of the universe appear to fit together for some purpose.
