Essay on 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People
Stephen R. Covey s self help book is an influential communication for personal change. He advises
building from the inside out and offers a plan for moving from dependence to independence and then
to interdependence. The inside out approach starts first with one self, which includes paradigms,
characters, and motivations. To improve relationships with others, we have to first improve ourselves
by putting character ahead of personality. Covey prefaces the book by explaining paradigms and
principles. Paradigms are maps that guide us and affect the way we interact with people. He states, We
see the world not as it is, but as we are or as we are conditioned to see it (page 28). Paradigms have a
greater impact over effectiveness than any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Covey states that effectiveness is based on a principle he called the P/PC balance. This P/PC balance
principle lies in the balance of production of desired results to the production capabilities. The PC
principle is to always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers
(page 58). Covey states that the P/PC balance is the essence of effectiveness: It s the definition and
paradigm of effectiveness upon which the seven habits in this book are based (page 58). Covey calls
those things that we have no control over the circle of concern. Those that we can control fall into the
circle of influence. He describes three areas that problems fall into. They are direct control, indirect
control and no control. Direct control problems involve our own behavior. There are addressed in the
three habits. Covey explains that private victories precede public victories. Private victories are
solving problems by working on our own habits. Indirect control problems are solved by changing our
methods. Public victories are discussed in Habits 4, 5 6 and involve learning new methods of
influence. No control problems are those that we can do nothing about but accept them so that we do
not empower these problems to control us (page 86). It is how we change our habits, methods and

The Pros And Cons Of Academic Dishonesty
McCabe has said that an estimated seventy percent of college students have admitted to some type of
cheating. He supports this claim by saying that the parties to blame here is the school system and the
media. HBU defines academic dishonesty to when a student cheats or steals someone s work and
passes it as their own among these are a list of actions that count for academic dishonesty. Some
examples being brought up about dishonesty is how in the NFL saw past the deflating incident in the
Super Bowl were it seems like the media praised the player for his actions (Loschiavo). Therefor,
students think it is correct to do be dishonest in their class work.
The article talks about how the way the school system is set up students are not able to fully write a
complete a research paper. Most of the time an act like this is impulsive, something that is done
without thinking. It is said that teachers are basically taking a short cut by teaching their student the
concept of paraphrasing what they read instead of teaching them how to properly put things in a
context they can explain themselves. The research was done by a Dean who dealt with student
dishonesty for over sixteen years, but yet each student is has different reasons for their acts. McCabe
himself says in the article that cheating can be one of many things such as a cry for help to just not
knowing how to properly cite their resources. Being a fresh out of high school student I often witness
student being told that what they

Reflection Paper On Selfishness
ME ME ME How does this help me? Wait what do I get out of this Of course I deserve it I want it I
need it Just give it to me, said Erin Ronald. This quote describes selfishness because it is the contrary
of generosity and solidarity, and the excess of love to oneself and the lack of group values. Knowing
the world, is essential for a person s life. Many times, we do not understand how a society works, how
people work, how our life goes, how the present goes, etc. As a result of all of them, we can
experience certain anguish that appears when it wants but with relatively frequency, such as: Why do I
do what I do? Am I happy? Who I am? For all of these I have proposed to write this philosophical
paper about what I believe the causes are and what might help to accommodate the selfishness we are
facing now in New York City. Survival, cultural and parental influence, and manners are the causes
why people in this city are selfish. It would be difficult to change our society with this paper, but I
believe that this reflection is the best method to redirect a life from all areas and ages.
People are just not born being selfish, they become selfish by a factor. One of the factors can be when
people become selfish when they have to act fast in a life or death situation in order to survive.
Suppose we change the Kohlberg s example about Heinz, there is only one pill in the world that has
the potential to save your friend and yourself s life. Who do you think deserves the pill? According to
Aristotle, friendship is one of the virtues necessary for living well, and an essential aspect of a life of
happiness and morality, the friendship of good men is good, being augmented by their companionship;
and they are thought to become better by their activities and by improving each other (1172a). A good
man is interested in doing good to others and when it is about a friend could forget about himself. I
agree that Aristotle s theory about friendship could make satisfy the humanity s necessities, if all men
were virtuosos. Doing good is beneficial for both, the one who practices and who receives it. People
become selfish when they have to face the live or death situation because people have an instinct to

The Importance Of Censorship On Books
Censorship or no censorship? This is a question many people ask themselves, and for good reason.
Censorship on books is when an authority, most likely government, prevents access to a book. There
are many people in the U.S. who argue for the censorship of books. Censorship on books is a topic of
debate, sometimes a heated debate. It s existence, however, is wrong. There are many examples of
censored books, many of them Stephen King novels. Stephen King is one of the many examples of
authors who have their books taken from libraries because their work has dark or sexual themes.
Censorship on books should not exist because it takes away human rights and cripples the growth of
children.
Some do not know where to stand on this topic, but there are a few glaring reasons that many people
look over. Some forget that literature is a major important piece of the world and much of the
literature that has been banned is classic literature that has shaped a lot of our world. For example, The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is challenged time and time again due to the fact that
a lot of the language used throughout is unacceptable today. The use of racist words and vulgar
language is very present throughout the classic Twain story. Even though a lot of the language used in
this classic is not acceptable, it s still a classic that arguably shaped an entire genre in the literary
world. Another novel challenged frequently is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The

Fossil Fuels In Australia
Fossil fuels are a fuel that was formed over millions of years from organic material from forms of life.
There are different types of fossil fuels such as gas, oil, nuclear and the one mostly produced in
Australia, coal. Australian government supplies energy from fossil fuels to the entire country as
around 86% of electricity is generated from these fuels, with 73% from coal and 13% from natural gas
with renewable energy sources making up 14% of Australia s electricity (origin,2015). Fossil fuels
have advantages such as the reliability and efficiency because they generate huge amount of energy
which is more reliable (Rinkesh,2009). They are also safe with easy transportation on large trucks or
pumped through large pipes. However, fossil fuels

Health Risks, current legis (team, 2013)lation and critical comparison Essay
There are many positive outcomes to working with computers on a daily basis. Having access to a
huge array of resources with a click of a button (World Wide Web), being able to conveniently store
large amounts of data in digital form and using a machine that can process millions of things per
second are just a few of these benefits. However, these positives can come at a price. As technology
has improved and become more accessible, so has our reliance of it. More people own a personal

This increased use of computers, at home and within the workplace, combined with the amount of
injuries that can be sustained has prompted the government to issue new legislation s to accommodate
the risks associated with them. While these new legislation s serve as a requirement in a work
environment they are only a recommendation at home. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974,
which states the general regulations and responsibilities that can be applied across a wide variety of
industries, has had a separate piece of legislation added to it to encompass the risks associated with
computers and other forms of displays; The Health and safety (display screen equipment) regulations
1992. This was put into place to outline the dangers to, and requirements of both the employer and the
employee, ensuring they maintain proper safety whilst partaking in the use of computers in the
workplace. The responsibilities of the employer include a thorough risk assessment of the workstation,
the provision of eye tests and training in regards of the risks to health whilst using the equipment and
how to combat them, while the employee must co operate with the employer, take responsibility for
their own safety and those of others, and to use the equipment of its intended use. The legislation also
refers to the type of equipment that is provided, primarily requiring them to be fit for purpose and

Analysis Of Julie Mehretu s Paintings
Julie Mehretu s paintings are loosely termed history paintings by Douglas Fogle and called
psychogeographies by the artist herself. A viewer is supposed to find something in themselves much
like exploring a city and figuring things out for one s own self interest. Mehretu is quoted as saying
my aim is to have a picture that appears one way from a distance almost like a cosmology, city, or
universe from afar but then when you approach the work, the overall image shatters into numerous
other pictures, stories, and events. Historically drawing is seen as inferior to painting which makes it
interesting that Julie Mehretu would employ so much drawing into her canvases because drawing is
important to architectural drawings. How does the mapping nature of Julie Mehretu s paintings convey
a sense of identity in a very political nature and how is it a representation of the post colonialist world
in which we inhabit? Scholars all seem to agree that Mehretu s canvases are maps, but what do they
seek to accomplish? My analysis of Mehretu s Stadia III will use a biographical and post colonialist
methodology to explore the ways in which Mehretu s own upbringing and how the very nature of her
map making, though very artificial, can be seen as a way of both bringing us together and giving those
groups that have previously been neglected throughout history a voice.

George Berkeley
George Berkeley sort of follows up on John Locke s philosophy in being immaterial or idealist. The
excerpt seems to me like an attempt in solidifying Locke s notions about ideas existing but directly
questions the existence of matter or substance. I don t feel Locke was being so bold. According to
Berkeley, something exists only if it can be perceived. An entity must be able to perceive and form
notions/ideas about the object in order for said object to exist. Anything that cannot be perceived does
not exist? As I was quickly forming counter arguments to this claim, Berkeley goes on to say that
God, of infinite mind, perceives all objects so even if no other entity is there to perceive it, the object
remains in existence. Talk about a master key. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some ways, I believe our thought functions have evolved sufficiently in the course of the last few
hundred years that allow us to conceive of bodies extended and moved without attributing sensible
qualities. A moving naked singularity somewhere out in the intergalactic medium comes to mind. It
has no sensible qualities that I can ascribe to it. Any primary and secondary qualities would arise
wholly from other material around the singularity. Without material around it, it still exists to me
without qualities (unless he would call my notions of the affect the singularity would have on incident
matter qualities). I still acknowledge its existence and therefore recognize its potential roles in cause
and effect. What would Berkeley s thoughts be on inertial forces in accelerated reference frames?
Specifically, the gravitational force, a force that arises by the mere presence of substance. True to
determine anything quantitative you would need the qualities of the substance, but even a singularity
imposes a gravitational force and a singularity doesn t even have a formally defined radius or extent

How Is Literature Useful In The 21st Century
How is Literature Useful in the 21st Century?
The utility of literature in any century, let alone the 21st Century, is difficult to define. One can
certainly make a compelling argument that there are hordes of young people that escape high school
and college without actually reading literature. Sure, students are frequently exposed to literature, but
do they actually engage critically with it? Do they even know how to read it? Do they understand it?
Answers to these questions, as well as others, ultimately impact how one answers the initial question:
how is literature useful in the 21st Century? The brief point to be made here is that literature is only
useful so far as it s understood and appreciated. Assuming one satisfies both criteria then there is no
telling how important literature can be in one s life. The plain fact is, and as Italo Calvino noted, Every
reading of a classic is in fact a rereading and A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it
has to say. In other words, literature has resonance throughout one s life. Themes in literature are
timeless and universal, relevant to any generation in any decade. As a result, literature can inform,
instruct, inspire, console, etc. To explicate this idea, to make it less abstract, one should consider how
relevant the following literary works are in today s times, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, A P
by John Updike and a Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The

Nuclear War Pros And Cons
The Ineffectiveness of Attempts to Prevent the Proliferation of Nuclear Arms On August 6 1945, the
United States revealed the atomic bomb, a weapon more powerful than any preceding it. The U.S.
dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, ending World War II, and
resulting in over one hundred thousand deaths (Groves). Although nuclear weapons have not been
used in combat since, these weapons continue to be developed. Thousands of nuclear weapons are
currently operational, many with over one hundred times the power of the bombs dropped on Japan in
World War II, and the number of countries with nuclear weapons has grown over the past decades
(Kimball; Smith). There has been some debate about whether current attempts ... Show more content

In December of 1987, the United States and the Soviet Union signed the Intermediate Range Nuclear
Forces (INF) treaty, aimed at reducing the usefulness of nuclear weapons in combat. This treaty
eliminated all ground launched ballistic and cruise nuclear missiles with a range of 500 to 5500
kilometers in the United States and the Soviet Union. The INF put in place a comprehensive
inspection plan to ensure that the production of these weapons was discontinued, and the remaining
ones were destroyed (U.S. Department of State). Despite this inspection plan, the NPT has often been
violated by the Soviet Union, and now Russia. When it was first signed, the Soviet Union failed to
declare some of their missiles that operated within the range covered by the treaty. In 1993, Russia
refused to allow U.S. inspectors to completely inspect a new missile they had created, and in 2007,
Russia tested a cruise missile with a range estimated at well within the range banned by the INF treaty,
all serious violations of the NPT (Schneider 3 18). The U.S. response to these violations has been
minimal, and this lack of enforcement has allowed these violations to continue (Schneider 19 20).
Although the goals of the INF treaty were positive, it was made much less effective by the lack of
enforcement of the treaty. The INF had a comprehensive inspection and verification plan in place, but
since this was not strongly enforced, Russia was able to violate it without

Garage Floor
More often than not, the garage floor is the last thing that comes to mind when we decide on home
renovation projects. But given how much the garage is used for storing lawn mowers, automobiles and
even offering a great place for kids to play in bad weather, using the correct option of garage floor
paint will improve the appearance of the whole garage. Moreover, it will stop spoiling the garage with
oil, grease and other liquid stains, extend the life of the floor and make it much easier to maintain the
garage by coating the permeable surface. Garage floors are usually concrete and not simply any paint
can be used successfully on this surface. Success with this project will require selecting the best
quality paint for the garage floor and appropriately setting up the floor for the application of paint. The
first step, which is the most difficult in garage floor painting, is the removal of everything to leave the
whole floor vacant. This is when you will realize how much you utilize the ... Show more content on

The Health Care System Within The United States
Although the health care system within the United States has operated on a fee for service system in
which a provider benefits by being paid per treatment or procedure given to a patient, the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act has influenced us to look into alternative forms of provider
reimbursement. One form of reimbursement that has recently been highlighted as a potential means to
lower health care expenditures are bundled payments, which are also known as episode based
payment. Bundled payments are being touted as a means to reduce national health expenditures,
increase coordination of care, and improve quality of care; however like any other form of provider
reimbursement there are advantages as well as disadvantages that need to be analyzed.
A bundled payment provides a physician with a set amount of money upfront in order to efficiently
treat a patient s condition; the amount of money is determined on the basis of a specific condition. A
bundled payment provides an estimated reimbursement for all in patient and outpatient services
needed for an episode of care. For instance if a patient fractures their hip and needs hip replacement
surgery, a bundled payment will provide reimbursement for all hospital services, surgical implants, all
costs of physician services provided and will cover costs related to the episode within ninety days
after being discharged from the hospital. The majority of bundled payment programs offered are for
episodes of care such as

The Economic Globalization Of The United States
The economic globalization of any given county is the increase of economic integration of the nation
in the world s economy and is the result of cross border movement of goods, services, technologies
and capital. Economic globalization has been seen to help developing countries arrive at a more stable
and stronger economic because of its positive effects on crucial issues such as GDP, and their trade as
well as their special interactions with different countries, such as the joining of the European Union.
France was no exception to this. France in the post war era after World War II saw significant change
with their economy, becoming a more open country in the world markets and a stronger, financially
stable country.

Gross National Growth (GNP) is the measure of how an economy is performing and what a country

time frame in which France s economy starts to flourish. This could essentially be because after the

GDP and GNP rates. Agriculture, construction, manufacturing, services, transport and utilities are all
included when calculating GDP. GNP is greatly affected by the population that is within a country.
Higher GDP s tend to be associated with EU members such as France in comparison to the rest of the
world. There have been sudden drops in the French GDP growth rates but that doesn t essentially
effect the welfare of the people. Many argue that GDP rates do show how a country is doing
economically but they do not accurately show the welfare of the citizens. William Ray from

In order to successfully launder money three processes are needed: placement, layering, and

making fun of his friend Howard who is an engineer from MIT, Penny who is a simple waitress at the

begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting one. This can be attributed to
Sheldon altering his spiritual self and finally knocking down barriers that were due to association by

his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him was unworthy. However, through interacting with Amy,
her influence of biology (which he previously determined as a worthless field) accompanied by her

Symbolism In Dead Poets Society
Dead Poets Society is a classic film from 1989 featuring Robin Williams, which takes place during the
50 s at a traditionalist boarding school for the rich with extremely strict customs and a straightforward
message: Tradition, Honor, Discipline and Excellence are all keys to academic success. Within the
film, elements such as character development, conflict, setting and symbolism together with a variety
of techniques are used to support the prevalent theme: Tradition can restrict individuality leading to
progressive thoughts. Mr. Nolan, the headmaster of Welton, is a strict individual who is shown
throughout the movie to have an extremely conservative viewpoint aiming to engrave the 4 pillars of
education into the minds of his pupils. As Nolan s character is developed, his ultimate goal of
restricting the individuality of the students and preserving the social customs of the academy become
increasingly apparent through his dialogue. At first Mr. Nolan appears to demonstrate the traditionalist
views of the academy through his inauguration speech in order to please the parents that have spent
their money on sending their children to an elite boarding school. However as the film continues it
becomes apparent that Nolan takes the customs and high standards of the school extremely seriously,
as evidenced by his increasingly bitter punishments for those that do not conform to his ideals. At first,

other people, he prefers to continue running. The narrator notices that a car came off the road,
bouncing onto the sloped lawn. (47) The runner is seeing a car come off the road onto the grass in the
park where he is running. Since the narrator is not stopping to investigate he appears self absorbed and
selfishly uncurious. The runner s neighbor explains she, heard the car when it came over the curb.
More or less bang on the grass. The father gets out and takes the little boy. (49) His neighbor just
witnessed a child being kidnapped, although she does not know anyone involved, she assumes the
kidnapper is the boy s father. The runner seems disinterested in both the kidnapping and his neighbor s
opinion. He seems to feel the kidnapping shouldn t concern him; he wasn t kidnapped, and he didn t
know who was. Why should he care? What the runner doesn t realize is that this affects him
emotionally and physically. This is a community concern. Whether or not the father was the kidnapper
the entire area becomes concerned with safety. The runner, without thinking, crushes his neighbor s
ideal situation even though he does not seem to care about the kidnapping. The narrator questions his
neighbor and hears her response You can t be sure, can you? I saw them both and I saw the child.
(50)When asked if she was sure the father was the kidnapper the neighbor states she saw the mother,
the child, and the kidnapper. This implies that she does not know the real situation, but is merely
projecting the most ideal situation. The viewpoint of the neighbor is interesting because our main
character disagrees with the idea that the father was just taking his child. Although this is the ideal
situation for both the child and the bystanders the runner takes a cynical view. This most likely means

A Brief Note On The Illinois Road Worker
As evident, the infrastructure of our state is imperative to the success of our economic heartbeat. The
state of Illinois maintains approximately 4,000 miles of public roadways making our state s road
among the greatest challenges to our states budget whether it be through maintenance, expansion, or
pioneering new paths each factor has a common denominator. That common denominator is the
Illinois road worker. Although in the past the demands of our states road workers have come as
demanding and in turn challenging to our state s motorists, it has become second nature to thoroughly
asses our road workers needs in the name of safety. This policy memo serves as an informative tool in
the discussion currently pending between our states legislature and the Federal Highway
Administration along with roadways worker representative councils to include the National Safety
Council (NSC), the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Bureau of Safety Engineering (BSE)
and M60 road workers union to begin the process of distribution and utilization of what is known as
positive protective devices (PPD), or roadway barrier devices to be utilized in order to better protect
roadway workers in all hours of the day, in any season of the year, in any weather conditions. The
current discussion involves conditions for appropriate use of positive protection devices to effectively
protect road workers against motorized traffic in addition to the installation and maintenance of such
temporary traffic

Night-Time Vs The Wave Analysis
Has it ever been difficult for you to make a choice? Especially if you are not certain which choice is
the correct one to make? You are not alone. The two books, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night time and The Wave, contain two main characters under pressure to make decisions neither one
felt was right. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, Christopher decided to leave his
unintentionally abusive father and live with his mother in London. And in The Wave, Laurie, a senior
at Gordon High, decided not to perform the inhumane tasks which being part of a popular group,
called The Wave, required of its members, despite the threat of iron fisted violence. Sometimes, other

Of course, many teens will never experience the level of nighttime terror Christopher faced from his
father in The Curious Incident of the Night time, or the secretive emotional and physical abuse Laurie
faced from her ex boyfriend in The Wave. But regardless of how learning to do the right thing takes
shape for the growing young life of the average teen, standing apart from the crowd and being a
unique voice with an equally unique perspective can feel like being inmured and being set free, at the
same time. The mind of a wise teen creates social and emotional strain by triggering an awareness of
right and wrong, as well as a desire to vocalize this approach. So, sitting back and being quiet about
the circumstances is no longer possible. Once the darkness of ones own fear is subdue, and the quiet
inner voice is heard by others, the challenges of facing the anger from others begins. Whether a boy is
telling his parents he is gay. Or a young woman tells her boyfriend, she is not ready to be intimate
with him. At some point, we are all faced with choices which we must make, whether we are prepared
to or not. Our inner voice will usually be too loud for us to disregard, and we will feel compelled to be
the distinctive individual we are, and say what we are thinking or feeling, reguardless of how we
believe others will reciprocate. This requires

Portrayal Of Happiness In Disney Films
Happiness is not just a feeling; it is a desire that one must have a drive for. As shown in Disney films,
love cannot be compared to reality. In order to have a relationship, the couple must have trust, honesty,
commitment, and most importantly, communication within the relationship. One must accept their
selves before venturing off into the world, looking for love to consider their selves as happy . In
reality, there is no fairy godmother there to make difficult situations disappear/make two people fall in
love with one another. People should care about how love is portrayed in Disney films because their
daughters may expect the same treatment and become emotionally damaged. This issue matters
because no one should be misled by what the media depicts. This topic is significant to culture
because it teaches young ladies to always love their selves first before deciding to love a young man.
Disney films generally portray happiness as existing in marriage or coupling, whereas real happiness
is achieved internally, and people shouldn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sir Thomas Mun s Theory Of Mercantilism
Sir Thomas Mun (1571 1641), a famous economic thinker from the sixteenth century, was most
closely associated with the idea of Mercantilism. This school of thought mainly focused on
international trade and the balance of trade through acquisition of silver and gold. Thomas Mun
achieved many accomplishments in his 70 years of life; most notably, his role as the Director of the
East India Company, publishing books and pamphlets on his theory of mercantilism, molding England
s trade policies to maximize the nation s wealth, and further setting a precedent for international trade
that many countries thereafter followed. When Thomas Mun first introduced his idea of foreign trade,
it was during a time of an economic downfall in England. Many people believed that the East India
Company was to blame because they had financed their trade by exporting a large amount of bullion
in order to purchase spices (Walter,1). When accusations arose of his company being at fault for the
trade imbalance in England, Mun s defense strategy involved informing the citizens of the country
about the benefits of international trade to increase England s wealth. Mun wrote a pamphlet, A
Discourse of Trade, from England unto the East Indies, to explain why his company had chosen to be
a participant of trade. Mun explained that if the company had chosen to deter from the trading of
bullion for spices, England would have actually been at more of disadvantage economically. The
reason for this, is that

The King James White
James White is the director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, a Christian apologetics organization
based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a professor and has authored or contributed to more than twenty four
books. He is also an accomplished debater. He is an elder of the Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church,
has been married to his wife Kelli for more than thirty two years, and has two children and two
grandchildren. White s work is a very profound book that talks about the controversy in some
churches about the best translation to use: modern translations or the King James translation. He
fought against the idea of some that the King James Version is the only true Bible. He did an excellent
job defending his own views while pointing out the errors of these groups.
Summary of the Book
The first chapter puts the King James Version Only groups on a spectrum. The least troublesome just

the Greek and Hebrew used by the translators of the KJV is better than that of the other translations;

In most of the charts he presented, White put the KJV up next to either the NIV or the NASB (186,
266). It is understandable that everyone favors certain translations over others, his preference for these
two translations is quiet obvious throughout the book. However, for the purpose of this book, this
preference made him fail to provide a more neutral understanding of the principles he wrote about.
Actually, his favoritism towards these translations went against his own words, But we must be careful
to avoid making the basic error of setting up one translation as the standard over all others (169). The
author would have better demonstrated this principle by using more than just two translations in a
comparison against the KJV

Trader Joe s Strategic Planning
Introduction [Amy] Trader Joe s is a leading firm that is taking over the supermarket industry. The
company completely altered the idea of a traditional supermarket and turned it into a whole new
experience for consumers. Through Trader Joe s strategic planning, they ve paved a way for
consumers to have high quality products while paying low prices. Trader Joe s provides fewer
products that are health conscious, unique and privately labeled. Trader Joe s has utilized this, secrecy,
employee job satisfaction, culture and starting trends to its advantage. Within its industry companies
are divided into different strategic groups. Aldi, similar Trader Joe s strategic planning, is apart of the
cultured discount neighborhood market. This firm continues the low stock, less waste, small store, and
low price method. A Walmart express used a hybrid strategy that made it a cross between a grocery,
pharmacy, and convenience store. Tesco is the third that falls with small neighborhood markets
strategy and focused on organic products, similar to Trader Joe s. As the company grows and expands,
there is caution in change of Trader Joe s processes. With growth, there comes new management and
employees which can alter the way a specific store is ran and there is worry of change in the stores
normal procedures. Change that doesn t follow the process could ultimately result in a downfall, so
this can be considered a key challenge to watch in the future. Increased bureaucracy is additionally a

Outcome Of Two Major Railroad Strikes
1. Identify and describe the outcome of two major Railroad Strikes. The two major Railroad Strikes
were the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and Railroad Shop workers Strike of 1922. The Great Railroad
Strike of 1877, was due to workers not being happy about the pay cuts that were being made by their
employer so often. Northern Railroads began cutting salaries and wages. Because of various railroads
cutting wages by 10% back to back, workers were not willing to continue working under those
conditions. Not only were the wages of the workers being cut, the amount work of work given to the
employees increased and the employer did not hire additional workers. This then caused railroad
employees to respond by taking control of the rail yard switches, and blocking movement of trains.
Throughout various cities such as Baltimore, Pittsburg, St. Louise, and Chicago, Violent acts began to
occur. Many people died throughout the cities. The strike cause the country s commerce to become
paralyzed and pushed governors in different states to utilize militia members to reopen rail traffic.
This action also helped set the stage for violence that would occur later in the 1880s and 1890s. The
Railroad Shop Workers Strike of 1922 affected everyone in the country. This strike occurred because
of the pay cut of seven cents to the wages of the railroad workers. Approximately 400,000 rail shop
workers from various unions were on strike because the cut was announced by the railroad labor
board. When

Seal Team Six Research Paper
The United States has constantly been developing and advancing their military branches, strategies,
and special forces. There are five branches of the military: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, United States
Coast Guard, and the Air Force. The first branch of the military to form was the Army in June 1775.
The Army formed after the American Revolutionary War. Its purpose was to coordinate attacks on
Great Britain s Military. The next branch of the military to form was the United States Navy. The
Navy was formed in October 1775. The Navy had been assigned missions to ambush, prevent, and
hinder British aquatic or naval operations. After the Navy came the United States Marine Corps. The
Marine Corps was a special tactical team that was able to fight at sea and on shore. 15 years later came
the United States coast guard. The United States Coast Guard enforced maritime safety generally to
enforce federal tariff and trade. The next branch didn t form for many years later until 1947. The Air

Bertrand Russell And The Greatest Philosopher
BERTRAND RUSSELL Bertrand Russell was born on May 18, 1872 into British aristocracy, In 1931
career centered on work as a philosophy professor, writer and public lecturer. He not only knew but
worked with many dominant figures in the late 19th and 20th century as a philosopher, a
mathematician, science as well as politics. Russell was arguably the greatest philosopher in the 20th
century. Although Russell was a decent man he got most of his ideas from Gottolob Frege, a German
mathematician, logician and philosopher. Gottolob was also a vicious anti semite and proto Nazi. The
Nobel Prize Committee described Bertrand Russell as one of the best spokesman of rationality and
humanity. According to Russell, the value of philosophy is to be sought in the effects it has on those
who study it. The more you study philosophy, the more free your mind become. Russell believed that
exercise is to the good of the body as philosophy is to the goods of the mind. Philosophy keeps alive
the interest in the world. It aims the achievement of knowledge through criticism and self evaluation.
Philosophizing allow those who study it to enrich their intellectual imagination. Russell saw
philosophy as a way of life, insisting that questions have an ethical urgency. I believed his assertion is
correct. One who sought philosophy cultivate the mind. They become self reflective and wiser. From
that point on their mind is free to evaluate the world around us. Philosophy evasion of questions

Sengoku Unifiers
The Sengoku period from 1463 to 1567 was a time of social upheaval, political chicanery, and
constant military conflict. Though feudal lords swore loyalty to the Emperor, he was largely a
figurehead who held little political power of his own. More influential was the military Shogun,
however the years leading up to the Sengoku period saw a breakdown of central authority and the rise
of powerful, largely independent local lords called daimyo. These daimyo were in frequent conflict
amongst each other, fighting for control of different regions in Japan. Conquering weaker daimyo,
Japan s three unifiers would slowly pave the path towards Japanese unification. It began with Oda
Nobunaga and was followed by his general Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who continued ... Show more

Following the death of Oda Nobunaga, Hideyoshi secured alliances and further unified Japan by both
diplomatic and military means. His policies would leave a lasting impact that would transformed
Japan.. In 1588, Hideyoshi ordered that all weapons be taken away from farmers, further disarming
peasants. This reduced Japan s fighting population to the seven percent that made up the samurai
class. Rival daimyo could no longer use farmers to serve in their armies. The sword became a sort of
status symbol, signaling that an individual was of the privileged samurai class. Furthering this
separation of class, Hideyoshi froze the social order with the Three Clause Edict of 1590. Hideyoshi
decreed that these classes were fixed and that mobility between classes was prohibited, effectively
separating military and agriculture. Farmers would be left to tend their fields while only the samurai
fought. Even more profound was Hideyoshi s national cadastral survey. Japan s agricultural land was
measured in terms of production. Each village was given an annual tax based on the assessment of the
cadastral survey. Government officials could now expect their revenue and planned accordingly. Since
the tax was a fixed amount, farmers often looked for ways to improve crop yield as they could make
extra income on any

The Light Monologue
Yin and Yang I look at my camera. I notice warm hues first. These hues are in the bright copper
trestles that fall upon either side of my shoulders and my rosy cheeks and lips that give my face life.
The light from beyond the windows close by cascade and resonate throughout the kitchen and into the
alcove I reside in. The dazzling lights that dance down from the chandelier that hangs over my head
gives just enough light to soften the wood frame of the glass panes that sit just out of reach. However,
as I write this, the sun is quickly retreating behind the trees that once carried beautiful leaves. Soon
again, as will the sun s beaming rays. Now, in the reflection of the window, I see the six lights that
give the alcove its personality and illuminate the room with sheer brilliance. Without the brilliance of
these bulbs, much detail would go unnoticed detail that I consider crucial. These details compose who
I am. The spunk and aspirations that reside within me would not be alive if it weren t for these lights.

s arrival and, once again, tell the rays to dance. The music that comes in torrents beat on my eardrums
faster and more powerful than before, and alive are the rays that now twirl with hands clasp tight to
one another. They grey soon joins in. I look again. The blues and greys on my face were, and are,

Breast Enlargement 5 Non Surgical Alternatives
Summary: A lot of options can be considered over surgery for breast enlargement. The popular
altenatives include Enlargement pumps, Fat transfer, Contouring among others.
No one but women understand the need and importance for breast enlargement. Some do it to shape
their personality while some do it in order to appear in a particular way. Whatever be the reason, all
women should understand the health risks surgical breast enhancement procedures may carry. Non
Surgical Procedures are always favoured over surgical augmentation procedures. The primary
alternative to a surgery or implant include the following.
Enlargement Pumps
The expansion of breast tissue is a favourable way of increasing breast size. Breast Enlargement takes
place as a result of the pumps acting as a suction on the tissues. This encourages enhanced blood flow
and increases the possibility of increased tissue growth. This helps in breast enhancement as they
increase in size. However a lot of endurance is needed to reap rewards from this process as extensive
and motivated use in the pertinent way is required over a minimum period of three months. Results
cannot be anticipated over night.

Trancendentalism in The Call of the Wild, by Jack London...
This need for transcendentality is real and strong, especially in the two novels The Call of the Wild, by
Jack London and Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Transcendentalism is the belief that thought and
spiritual experience is more important than everyday experiences and material belongings. The main
character in the call of the wild is buck, a dog forced into trancendality as he was kidnapped and
handed a brutal northern life. The main character in Into the wild is Chris McCandless, a young man

positive. At the beginning of the novel he was soft, pampered, and mentally inactive. The Big Read,
an internet site which provides a wonderful overview of The Call of the Wild, brings to light, In
addition to cunning, patience, and strength, Buck s greatest quality allows him to fight by both
cunning and insight. (Call of the Wild 1). With this newfound ability to fight and evade tough
situations, Buck buys the time to learn the ways of the north completely, eventually surpassing the
dogs around him. The only negative effect this had on Buck was that his moral nature quickly
deteriorated. This was necessary. Without the ability to be transcendental, Buck could not have
survived his new environment.
Chris McCandless s transcendental experience was both positive and negative depending on which
party is being asked. Chris believed that his experience as a whole was unsurpassable to an extent, that

to be in the wild. However, the friends, family and acquaintances who had met Chris try to find reason

The Negative Effects Of Malnutrition In African Schools
I start a fire, put a pot of water on it and tell the children I am in the middle of preparing something,
Maryam Sy, 37 and a mother of nine, says in a raspy voice. In reality, I have nothing (qtd. in Larson).
Like Maryam s kids, several other African children go to bed before their mothers are finished stirring
the pots. Hunger and malnutrition is a serious problem faced by many African countries. This issue
affects children the most. Every year, millions of children die due to the lack of proper nutrition.
Besides the physical and psychological damage, malnutrition also affects academics. Malnutrition has
several negative effects on a child s learning and school performance as it can lead to lower
attendance, unsatisfactory student behavior, and poor academic performance.
As children do not get proper nutrition, Malnutrition makes students susceptible to illnesses which
lead to low school attendance. Being out of school for long periods of time due to illnesses makes
students unfamiliar with the concepts being taught upon return. They often do poorly on the tests
because of that. Malnutrition affects students academic performance as well. Children who consume
adequate amounts of food perform better in school than the malnourished children. Food provides
many nutrients essential for mental and cognitive development. Not having enough food causes
deficiencies of proteins necessary for the development of brain tissue which prevents children from
understanding the material

Dr.Strangelove Film Analysis Essay example
Introduction
In 1964, Stanley Kubrick released Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the
bomb to both critical and commercial praise. The historical context surrounding the film s release was
at the height of the Cold War, just over a year after the Cuban Missile Crisis as the Vietnam War was
beginning to escalate. While based on a more serious book, Red Alert by Peter George, it was soon
transformed into a black comedy that parodied the absurdity of global nuclear destruction and the
mentality of the Cold War. While not as overtly anti war as his third film Paths of Glory, Kubrick still
manages to show the ridiculousness of nuclear war while linking two basic male instincts together, sex
and the desire to kill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ripper s paranoia about denying women his essence clarifies the connection between war and sex.
While Strangelove admits that women are essential to the survival of mankind, the motivations of
women are suspicious. Ripper s decision to attack Russia when he was unprovoked is symbolic of his
fear of being attacked. He has become paranoid that the same infringement he performs on others
might fall on him. The constant waiting creates a life of its own within his mind and a sense of deep
apprehension that the same people he has abused will take their revenge. In his office, Ripper is
usually shot in high contrast lighting. A lighting effect that is shown largely in melodramas and
tragedies to show, evil, fear and the unknown, all of which the character embodies. The overbearing
masculinity of most of the characters is balanced by Mandrake and the Presidents, who are decidedly
feminist when handling the conflicts and attitudes about war. Mandrake plays a passive role when
dealing with Ripper. He listens to Rippers outrageous ideas, being careful not to upset him. He is also
very reluctant to help fire Rippers machine gun and tries desperately to convince him to recall the
planes or hand over the code. The President tries every possible diplomatic solution to quell the
military problem. He speaks to the Russian Premier in a feminist manner to try and avoid
confrontation. His approach to the

  • 2. Essay on 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People Stephen R. Covey s self help book is an influential communication for personal change. He advises building from the inside out and offers a plan for moving from dependence to independence and then to interdependence. The inside out approach starts first with one self, which includes paradigms, characters, and motivations. To improve relationships with others, we have to first improve ourselves by putting character ahead of personality. Covey prefaces the book by explaining paradigms and principles. Paradigms are maps that guide us and affect the way we interact with people. He states, We see the world not as it is, but as we are or as we are conditioned to see it (page 28). Paradigms have a greater impact over effectiveness than any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Covey states that effectiveness is based on a principle he called the P/PC balance. This P/PC balance principle lies in the balance of production of desired results to the production capabilities. The PC principle is to always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers (page 58). Covey states that the P/PC balance is the essence of effectiveness: It s the definition and paradigm of effectiveness upon which the seven habits in this book are based (page 58). Covey calls those things that we have no control over the circle of concern. Those that we can control fall into the circle of influence. He describes three areas that problems fall into. They are direct control, indirect control and no control. Direct control problems involve our own behavior. There are addressed in the three habits. Covey explains that private victories precede public victories. Private victories are solving problems by working on our own habits. Indirect control problems are solved by changing our methods. Public victories are discussed in Habits 4, 5 6 and involve learning new methods of influence. No control problems are those that we can do nothing about but accept them so that we do not empower these problems to control us (page 86). It is how we change our habits, methods and ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Academic Dishonesty McCabe has said that an estimated seventy percent of college students have admitted to some type of cheating. He supports this claim by saying that the parties to blame here is the school system and the media. HBU defines academic dishonesty to when a student cheats or steals someone s work and passes it as their own among these are a list of actions that count for academic dishonesty. Some examples being brought up about dishonesty is how in the NFL saw past the deflating incident in the Super Bowl were it seems like the media praised the player for his actions (Loschiavo). Therefor, students think it is correct to do be dishonest in their class work. The article talks about how the way the school system is set up students are not able to fully write a complete a research paper. Most of the time an act like this is impulsive, something that is done without thinking. It is said that teachers are basically taking a short cut by teaching their student the concept of paraphrasing what they read instead of teaching them how to properly put things in a context they can explain themselves. The research was done by a Dean who dealt with student dishonesty for over sixteen years, but yet each student is has different reasons for their acts. McCabe himself says in the article that cheating can be one of many things such as a cry for help to just not knowing how to properly cite their resources. Being a fresh out of high school student I often witness student being told that what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection Paper On Selfishness ME ME ME How does this help me? Wait what do I get out of this Of course I deserve it I want it I need it Just give it to me, said Erin Ronald. This quote describes selfishness because it is the contrary of generosity and solidarity, and the excess of love to oneself and the lack of group values. Knowing the world, is essential for a person s life. Many times, we do not understand how a society works, how people work, how our life goes, how the present goes, etc. As a result of all of them, we can experience certain anguish that appears when it wants but with relatively frequency, such as: Why do I do what I do? Am I happy? Who I am? For all of these I have proposed to write this philosophical paper about what I believe the causes are and what might help to accommodate the selfishness we are facing now in New York City. Survival, cultural and parental influence, and manners are the causes why people in this city are selfish. It would be difficult to change our society with this paper, but I believe that this reflection is the best method to redirect a life from all areas and ages. People are just not born being selfish, they become selfish by a factor. One of the factors can be when people become selfish when they have to act fast in a life or death situation in order to survive. Suppose we change the Kohlberg s example about Heinz, there is only one pill in the world that has the potential to save your friend and yourself s life. Who do you think deserves the pill? According to Aristotle, friendship is one of the virtues necessary for living well, and an essential aspect of a life of happiness and morality, the friendship of good men is good, being augmented by their companionship; and they are thought to become better by their activities and by improving each other (1172a). A good man is interested in doing good to others and when it is about a friend could forget about himself. I agree that Aristotle s theory about friendship could make satisfy the humanity s necessities, if all men were virtuosos. Doing good is beneficial for both, the one who practices and who receives it. People become selfish when they have to face the live or death situation because people have an instinct to ... • 5. The Importance Of Censorship On Books Censorship or no censorship? This is a question many people ask themselves, and for good reason. Censorship on books is when an authority, most likely government, prevents access to a book. There are many people in the U.S. who argue for the censorship of books. Censorship on books is a topic of debate, sometimes a heated debate. It s existence, however, is wrong. There are many examples of censored books, many of them Stephen King novels. Stephen King is one of the many examples of authors who have their books taken from libraries because their work has dark or sexual themes. Censorship on books should not exist because it takes away human rights and cripples the growth of children. Some do not know where to stand on this topic, but there are a few glaring reasons that many people look over. Some forget that literature is a major important piece of the world and much of the literature that has been banned is classic literature that has shaped a lot of our world. For example, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is challenged time and time again due to the fact that a lot of the language used throughout is unacceptable today. The use of racist words and vulgar language is very present throughout the classic Twain story. Even though a lot of the language used in this classic is not acceptable, it s still a classic that arguably shaped an entire genre in the literary world. Another novel challenged frequently is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Australian government supplies energy from fossil fuels to the entire country as around 86% of electricity is generated from these fuels, with 73% from coal and 13% from natural gas with renewable energy sources making up 14% of Australia s electricity (origin,2015). • 7. Health Risks, Current Legis ( Team, 2013 ) Lation And... Health Risks, current legis (team, 2013)lation and critical comparison Essay There are many positive outcomes to working with computers on a daily basis. Having access to a huge array of resources with a click of a button (World Wide Web), being able to conveniently store large amounts of data in digital form and using a machine that can process millions of things per second are just a few of these benefits. However, these positives can come at a price. As technology has improved and become more accessible, so has our reliance of it. More people own a personal computer now than ever before. A study conducted in America (Acute Computer Related Injuries Treated in U.S. Emergency Departments, 1994 2006) showed that computer related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This increased use of computers, at home and within the workplace, combined with the amount of injuries that can be sustained has prompted the government to issue new legislation s to accommodate the risks associated with them. While these new legislation s serve as a requirement in a work environment they are only a recommendation at home. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, which states the general regulations and responsibilities that can be applied across a wide variety of industries, has had a separate piece of legislation added to it to encompass the risks associated with computers and other forms of displays; The Health and safety (display screen equipment) regulations 1992. This was put into place to outline the dangers to, and requirements of both the employer and the employee, ensuring they maintain proper safety whilst partaking in the use of computers in the workplace. The responsibilities of the employer include a thorough risk assessment of the workstation, the provision of eye tests and training in regards of the risks to health whilst using the equipment and how to combat them, while the employee must co operate with the employer, take responsibility for their own safety and those of others, and to use the equipment of its intended use. • 8. Analysis Of Julie Mehretu s Paintings Julie Mehretu s paintings are loosely termed history paintings by Douglas Fogle and called psychogeographies by the artist herself. A viewer is supposed to find something in themselves much like exploring a city and figuring things out for one s own self interest. Mehretu is quoted as saying my aim is to have a picture that appears one way from a distance almost like a cosmology, city, or universe from afar but then when you approach the work, the overall image shatters into numerous other pictures, stories, and events. Historically drawing is seen as inferior to painting which makes it interesting that Julie Mehretu would employ so much drawing into her canvases because drawing is important to architectural drawings. How does the mapping nature of Julie Mehretu s paintings convey a sense of identity in a very political nature and how is it a representation of the post colonialist world in which we inhabit? Scholars all seem to agree that Mehretu s canvases are maps, but what do they seek to accomplish? My analysis of Mehretu s Stadia III will use a biographical and post colonialist methodology to explore the ways in which Mehretu s own upbringing and how the very nature of her map making, though very artificial, can be seen as a way of both bringing us together and giving those groups that have previously been neglected throughout history a voice. • 9. George Berkeley George Berkeley sort of follows up on John Locke s philosophy in being immaterial or idealist. The excerpt seems to me like an attempt in solidifying Locke s notions about ideas existing but directly questions the existence of matter or substance. I don t feel Locke was being so bold. According to Berkeley, something exists only if it can be perceived. An entity must be able to perceive and form notions/ideas about the object in order for said object to exist. Anything that cannot be perceived does not exist? As I was quickly forming counter arguments to this claim, Berkeley goes on to say that God, of infinite mind, perceives all objects so even if no other entity is there to perceive it, the object remains in existence. Talk about a master key. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any primary and secondary qualities would arise wholly from other material around the singularity. Without material around it, it still exists to me without qualities (unless he would call my notions of the affect the singularity would have on incident matter qualities). I still acknowledge its existence and therefore recognize its potential roles in cause and effect. What would Berkeley s thoughts be on inertial forces in accelerated reference frames? • 10. How Is Literature Useful In The 21st Century How is Literature Useful in the 21st Century? The utility of literature in any century, let alone the 21st Century, is difficult to define. One can certainly make a compelling argument that there are hordes of young people that escape high school and college without actually reading literature. Sure, students are frequently exposed to literature, but do they actually engage critically with it? Do they even know how to read it? Do they understand it? Answers to these questions, as well as others, ultimately impact how one answers the initial question: how is literature useful in the 21st Century? The brief point to be made here is that literature is only useful so far as it s understood and appreciated. Assuming one satisfies both criteria then there is no telling how important literature can be in one s life. The plain fact is, and as Italo Calvino noted, Every reading of a classic is in fact a rereading and A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say. In other words, literature has resonance throughout one s life. Themes in literature are timeless and universal, relevant to any generation in any decade. As a result, literature can inform, instruct, inspire, console, etc. To explicate this idea, to make it less abstract, one should consider how relevant the following literary works are in today s times, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, A P by John Updike and a Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. This treaty eliminated all ground launched ballistic and cruise nuclear missiles with a range of 500 to 5500 kilometers in the United States and the Soviet Union. The INF put in place a comprehensive inspection plan to ensure that the production of these weapons was discontinued, and the remaining ones were destroyed (U.S. Department of State). Despite this inspection plan, the NPT has often been violated by the Soviet Union, and now Russia. When it was first signed, the Soviet Union failed to declare some of their missiles that operated within the range covered by the treaty. In 1993, Russia refused to allow U.S. inspectors to completely inspect a new missile they had created, and in 2007, Russia tested a cruise missile with a range estimated at well within the range banned by the INF treaty, all serious violations of the NPT (Schneider 3 18). The U.S. response to these violations has been minimal, and this lack of enforcement has allowed these violations to continue (Schneider 19 20). The Health Care System Within The United States Although the health care system within the United States has operated on a fee for service system in which a provider benefits by being paid per treatment or procedure given to a patient, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has influenced us to look into alternative forms of provider reimbursement. One form of reimbursement that has recently been highlighted as a potential means to lower health care expenditures are bundled payments, which are also known as episode based payment. Bundled payments are being touted as a means to reduce national health expenditures, increase coordination of care, and improve quality of care; however like any other form of provider reimbursement there are advantages as well as disadvantages that need to be analyzed. A bundled payment provides a physician with a set amount of money upfront in order to efficiently treat a patient s condition; the amount of money is determined on the basis of a specific condition. A bundled payment provides an estimated reimbursement for all in patient and outpatient services needed for an episode of care. For instance if a patient fractures their hip and needs hip replacement surgery, a bundled payment will provide reimbursement for all hospital services, surgical implants, all costs of physician services provided and will cover costs related to the episode within ninety days after being discharged from the hospital. The narrator notices that a car came off the road, bouncing onto the sloped lawn. (47) The runner is seeing a car come off the road onto the grass in the park where he is running. (49) His neighbor just witnessed a child being kidnapped, although she does not know anyone involved, she assumes the kidnapper is the boy s father. The runner seems disinterested in both the kidnapping and his neighbor s opinion. He seems to feel the kidnapping shouldn t concern him; he wasn t kidnapped, and he didn t know who was. Why should he care? What the runner doesn t realize is that this affects him emotionally and physically. This is a community concern. Whether or not the father was the kidnapper the entire area becomes concerned with safety. This implies that she does not know the real situation, but is merely projecting the most ideal situation. This school of thought mainly focused on international trade and the balance of trade through acquisition of silver and gold. Thomas Mun achieved many accomplishments in his 70 years of life; most notably, his role as the Director of the East India Company, publishing books and pamphlets on his theory of mercantilism, molding England s trade policies to maximize the nation s wealth, and further setting a precedent for international trade that many countries thereafter followed. When Thomas Mun first introduced his idea of foreign trade, it was during a time of an economic downfall in England. Many people believed that the East India Company was to blame because they had financed their trade by exporting a large amount of bullion in order to purchase spices (Walter,1). When accusations arose of his company being at fault for the trade imbalance in England, Mun s defense strategy involved informing the citizens of the country about the benefits of international trade to increase England s wealth. Mun wrote a pamphlet, A Discourse of Trade, from England unto the East Indies, to explain why his company had chosen to be a participant of trade. Mun explained that if the company had chosen to deter from the trading of bullion for spices, England would have actually been at more of disadvantage economically. The reason for this, is that ... The two major Railroad Strikes were the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and Railroad Shop workers Strike of 1922. The Great Railroad Strike of 1877, was due to workers not being happy about the pay cuts that were being made by their employer so often. Northern Railroads began cutting salaries and wages. Because of various railroads cutting wages by 10% back to back, workers were not willing to continue working under those conditions. Not only were the wages of the workers being cut, the amount work of work given to the employees increased and the employer did not hire additional workers. This then caused railroad employees to respond by taking control of the rail yard switches, and blocking movement of trains. Gottolob was also a vicious anti semite and proto Nazi. The Nobel Prize Committee described Bertrand Russell as one of the best spokesman of rationality and humanity. According to Russell, the value of philosophy is to be sought in the effects it has on those who study it. The more you study philosophy, the more free your mind become. • 31. Sengoku Unifiers The Sengoku period from 1463 to 1567 was a time of social upheaval, political chicanery, and constant military conflict. Though feudal lords swore loyalty to the Emperor, he was largely a figurehead who held little political power of his own. More influential was the military Shogun, however the years leading up to the Sengoku period saw a breakdown of central authority and the rise of powerful, largely independent local lords called daimyo. These daimyo were in frequent conflict amongst each other, fighting for control of different regions in Japan. Conquering weaker daimyo, Japan s three unifiers would slowly pave the path towards Japanese unification. It began with Oda Nobunaga and was followed by his general Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following the death of Oda Nobunaga, Hideyoshi secured alliances and further unified Japan by both diplomatic and military means. His policies would leave a lasting impact that would transformed Japan.. In 1588, Hideyoshi ordered that all weapons be taken away from farmers, further disarming peasants. This reduced Japan s fighting population to the seven percent that made up the samurai class. Rival daimyo could no longer use farmers to serve in their armies. The sword became a sort of status symbol, signaling that an individual was of the privileged samurai class. Furthering this separation of class, Hideyoshi froze the social order with the Three Clause Edict of 1590. Hideyoshi decreed that these classes were fixed and that mobility between classes was prohibited, effectively separating military and agriculture. Farmers would be left to tend their fields while only the samurai fought. Even more profound was Hideyoshi s national cadastral survey. Japan s agricultural land was measured in terms of production. Each village was given an annual tax based on the assessment of the cadastral survey. Government officials could now expect their revenue and planned accordingly. Since the tax was a fixed amount, farmers often looked for ways to improve crop yield as they could make extra income on any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These hues are in the bright copper trestles that fall upon either side of my shoulders and my rosy cheeks and lips that give my face life. The light from beyond the windows close by cascade and resonate throughout the kitchen and into the alcove I reside in. The dazzling lights that dance down from the chandelier that hangs over my head gives just enough light to soften the wood frame of the glass panes that sit just out of reach. However, as I write this, the sun is quickly retreating behind the trees that once carried beautiful leaves. Soon again, as will the sun s beaming rays. Now, in the reflection of the window, I see the six lights that give the alcove its personality and illuminate the room with sheer brilliance. Without the brilliance of these bulbs, much detail would go unnoticed detail that I consider crucial. These details compose who I am. I willingly accept the smile s arrival and, once again, tell the rays to dance. The music that comes in torrents beat on my eardrums faster and more powerful than before, and alive are the rays that now twirl with hands clasp tight to one another. They grey soon joins in. The Negative Effects Of Malnutrition In African Schools I start a fire, put a pot of water on it and tell the children I am in the middle of preparing something, Maryam Sy, 37 and a mother of nine, says in a raspy voice. In reality, I have nothing (qtd. in Larson). Like Maryam s kids, several other African children go to bed before their mothers are finished stirring the pots. Hunger and malnutrition is a serious problem faced by many African countries. This issue affects children the most. Every year, millions of children die due to the lack of proper nutrition. Besides the physical and psychological damage, malnutrition also affects academics. Malnutrition has several negative effects on a child s learning and school performance as it can lead to lower attendance, unsatisfactory student behavior, and poor academic performance. As children do not get proper nutrition, Malnutrition makes students susceptible to illnesses which lead to low school attendance. Being out of school for long periods of time due to illnesses makes students unfamiliar with the concepts being taught upon return. They often do poorly on the tests because of that. Dr.Strangelove Film Analysis Essay example Introduction In 1964, Stanley Kubrick released Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb to both critical and commercial praise. The historical context surrounding the film s release was at the height of the Cold War, just over a year after the Cuban Missile Crisis as the Vietnam War was beginning to escalate. While based on a more serious book, Red Alert by Peter George, it was soon transformed into a black comedy that parodied the absurdity of global nuclear destruction and the mentality of the Cold War. While not as overtly anti war as his third film Paths of Glory, Kubrick still manages to show the ridiculousness of nuclear war while linking two basic male instincts together, sex and the desire to kill. ...
