Twice a day, once from 12 a.m. 2 a.m. and again from 6 a.m. 8 a.m., a spike of passengers deplaned
from points west for a two hour window to connect to their east bound flights. These spikes strained
the airport s capacity, but they were essential to allow connecting passengers the widest possible
choice of connections from points east to west13. Emirates growth into new markets produced some
additional peak period hiccups. Strategic Expansion: The strategic move of placing a planning
department to forecast major growth regions and placed orders for the number of new planes it
expected to use. Once the planes were confirmed, the planning team examined the overall fleet, the
available craft currently in use, and how many planes remained. This base was then used to
determine whether to add capacity to existing routes or launch a new route. If case of the former
option, Emirates determined whether to add new service to an existing route or to swap out a service s
existing plane with a larger and newer craft. Emirates relied on only three types of aircraft, because of
which planes could be deployed onto existing routes to supply much more easily to match the demand.
Strategic Alliances with Manufacturer: Existing plane models with Emirates in the end of 20th
century, could only fly distances of up to 14 hours, due to which they were not able to connect to the

The Divided Land Summary
The Divided Land Epilogue Lytharón, an ancient land at the edge of the Great Sea, is rich in history
and yet so very young. Lytharón is separated into five factions. In the west, by the sea, are the
Democian people, a strong nation that has proven itself in numerous wars. Democia is the largest of
the five factions, and was founded when their ancestors came from across the Great Sea. Their
territory extends from the western shore, including control over the Sea Isles off the west coast, to the
winding river across the plains. This river runs from the northern mountains straight down the middle

Edgar Wright s musical heist film Baby Driver hit theaters in June 2017 and earned stellar reviews
from critics and general audiences alike for the unique way it synchronized the action unfolding on the

Written and directed by Wright, Baby Driver casts The Fault in Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort as Baby ,
a supremely skilled getaway driver who depends on a steady stream of music in order to counteract
the effects of tinnitus, or a hum in the drum as the film describes it. He received this tragedy during a

King Leary The notion of celebrity status is one that is often overlooked and many people have a one
sided opinion on the life of a celebrity. Many people think the life of a celebrity as being one of
relaxation and stress free when in reality they secretly face problems that come with the allure of

All of a sudden here was a crashing sound, and Manny came flying through one of the parish hall s

several professional athletes because of peer pressure. For example, former Vancouver Canucks NHL
tough guy Rick Rypien was overcome by peer pressure when he assumed the role of team enforcer. He
was aware that when his team needed a spark he would have to get into a fight with the opposing team
s tough guy. This ultimately led to alcohol abuse and depression which ultimately led to his suicide in
early 2011. Throughout the course of the novel, the theme of depression is another issue faced by
celebrities and the character of Manfred Ozikean. This is a perfect example of how depression can
lead to a change in one s mental health. Depression has become more and more common in the past
twenty years. One in every ten Canadians will suffer from depression and these odds increase in
celebrities and athletes. This is proven through the character of Manfred Ozikean as his depression
begins to set in when his alcoholic tendencies cause him to become separated from his wife. Manfred
s depression is a result of his lack of confidence in himself so he resorted to alcohol as his way out. He
got himself arrested two or three times drunk and disorderly, creating a public spectacle and once he

Materialistic Values Associated With The American Dream
Please respond with at least five sentences for each.
What is the American Dream? How is it characteristic of American ideals and philosophy? What are
the differences between the materialistic and the idealistic values associated with the American
Dream?
The American Dream is the idea that everyone can have an equal opportunity to obtain success as long
as they are determined and work hard. It is characteristic of American ideals and philosophy because it
directly reflects with how U.S citizens feel a need for equality, freedom, liberty, and democracy.
Common materialistic values associated with the American Dream are the need for a nice house,
several cars, and money to spend. The idealistic values are that just by working hard anyone can
achieve anything. This isn t always true. Sometimes certain things are unattainable, depending on a
citizen s financial, physical, or emotional status. Though if the person is determined they can change
their status.

This occupation isn t like others because the success of the sales aren t just based on how the salesman
works, but also the customers attitude. Sometimes a customer may not be interested or lose interest
quickly. This makes a salesman s job harder because they must pay close attention to their customers
and form correct reactions. A successful salesman must know how to persuade their customers, yet
aren t too pushy. The salesman must make the customer feel comfortable and feel a need to buy what
they are selling. The greatest thing to remember is that a salesman must be understanding with
customers. If the customers say the price is too high or that they don t want the product, the salesman
must stay kind to the customer. If not they might never buy a product from them or hinder any their

Nefertiti Book Report
Nefertiti by Michelle Moran is an entertaining book about the famous Royal Wife of Akhenaten. The
novel is told from the point of view of Nefertiti s little sister, Mutnodjmet. It begins immediately
before Nefertiti is chosen to become Akhenaten s Chief Wife. The book follows Nefertiti and her
family throughout their life as the royal family in Memphis and then transitioning into the move to
Amarna. The story stops only after the death of Nefertiti and Meritaten and the crowning of
Tutankhamun as Pharaoh of Egypt. Moran captures a Nefertiti that is ambitious, powerful, and
sometimes scared. Nefertiti is thrown into the royal family as a teenager and was told to try and
control the heretic Pharaoh, Akhenaten. At many times, the reader gets a glimpse of that worried and
terrified young girl, but throughout most of the novel, Nefertiti is portrayed to be a strong and
controlling Chief Wife of the Pharaoh. The author shows the fights between Nefertiti and her family as
she goes against what they want by supporting Akhenaten and his religious views. Moran tells about

Even though he is not her father, her mind cannot stop flashing back to how her father would molest
her sexually. It revolves around her purity again in the poem Blue Blackout when the line ...he was my
first. We both knew it. / We believed it. My whole life / depended on it... comes up. She clings to the
idea that she is a virgin for her lover s sake. She does not want him to be tainted like she has been. In
my opinion, the most shocking fact I came into grips with was that not only Anderson and her father
knew of the incest, but so did the mother and the elder brother. It made me wonder what type of
brainwash or control did he have over them to keep them all quiet and ignorant. Then in the poem The
Good Christian. The father used religion and twisted it up; tricking his daughter into thinking what he
was doing was just. And so in church you were afraid. You knew. / That closing your eyes made no
prayer come true. / That all sins of sinner were forgiven. Yet in this poem, she is looking back on her
father s words and recalling when she was in church at how confused she was. No matter how her
father was, she was brainwashed into believing he d be forgiven. Towards the end of the book, as a
reader, you may feel emotionless or full of swelled up emotions, making what to burst into tears. You
are either filled with sadness or completely ripped away of how you should feel. Just like Anderson as

The Veil in Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis Essay
Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis introduces the Islamic veil as an attempt by the Iranian government to
control women. Islamic radicals promised safety and security for those who abided by their rules.
Rebels who refused to wear the headscarf were threatened with beating, rape or death. These modern
women who fought against religious oppression met the minimal requirements of the government
rules to safely live in the hostile environment. Through being forced to wear the veil, the control of the
Islamic government drives its people to a rebellion.
The reformation of the country of Iran toward Islam caused turmoil among the people because the
drastic changes forced on the people were not easily accepted. One of the major changes is that ...

The Iranian government forced its control on children by forcing segregating the schools and making
girls wear the Iranian headscarf. Wearing the scarf represents the concealment of childhood in Iran for
Marjane and her friends. Reformation in Iran comes with the protests, violence and eventually war
which disguise the chance of childhood for the youth of the country. Marjane says, we found ourselves
veiled and separated from our friends (4). Concealing these children from the childhood they deserved
left them to deal with fear, anger, loss and death. Her story highlights the lack of stability children
need to grow into responsible adults. Marjane s story represents the thousands of children in Iran who
are lacking the proper elements for child development because of the revolution.
Though the veil forms an inconvenience in the lives of all Iranian women, it serves as a form of
protection in their lives against the dangerous religious extremists fighting for the revolution. Marjane
and her mother did not believe in the religious importance of wearing the veil but knew they had to
wear them for their own protection against radical religious men that could try to take advantage of
them. The president claimed that women s hair emanates rays that excite men (74). Supported by this
proposition, men could claim that a woman without a head scarf excited him and he would rape her

Essay On Discipline
Discipline According to Sailor (2010), Discipline comes from the Latin word disciplina, meaning
instruction or teaching to correct, strengthen, or perfect. The article talks about discipline and
punishment in the education system, whereas parents and some teachers view discipline as a
punishment while educators view it as a teaching strategy that can exclude punishment. As it stated by
Hogan (2012), True discipline, however, comes from within the child. Therefore, parents and teachers
are aware that discipline is not through punishment, but through (1) guidance and teaching, (2)
experiencing freedom, and (3) experiencing the natural consequences to his actions.

There is no freedom when discipline is there, especially with the fact that physical discipline is
strongly used by the Samoan teachers. Samoan students are afraid to do anything on their own because
they have to obey what the teacher said. Hogan (2012) stated that, This level of discipline cannot be
achieved through commands and orders, but through experiencing freedom. The students have to
experience freedom in order for them to learn how to behave instead of punishment that can lead to
something else such as death or violence in the classroom.
The importance of freedom in the classroom is that, students get to experience what is right and what
is wrong on their own (will they do it again or not?), develop themselves physically, learning how to
control themselves, and mentally and emotionally, as they practice to think of themselves. For
example, instead of getting told to think about something in a certain time, the students can think as
long as they want about the topic.

How do firms in the supermarket industry make money?
Operating on very thin profit margins, players in the supermarket industry traditionally either focus on
a premium segment or follow a discounter strategy at the low end. Premium players address educated
and more price elastic consumers who value healthy, natural and organic food; the share of perishable
items for these players is normally distinctly higher. Players that focus on a discounter strategy offer a
higher share of simple necessity items and value price competitiveness over premium features like
healthiness or organic origin. Independently of the focused customer group it is imperative for players

Thirdly, Trader Joe s stores are small and located in non prime locations, which holds fixed operating
costs at bay. Furthermore, the company is able to generate the industry s highest sales per square feet
in its small sized stores. In an effort to diversify from its competitors, Trader Joe s also relies on a non
traditional marketing strategy. Completely neglecting conventional marketing techniques like
commercials or promotional offers, the company focuses on unique and store specific in store
marketing with its newsletter and the occasional radio ad being its major means of communication
with its customers. The Trader Joe s brand with its vast fan base is naturally another part of the

What are the main threads to Trader Joe s competitive advantage? Is the company s competitive
advantage sustainable?
Trader Joe s faces several threats to its business, as competitors try to invade the company s niche and
attempt to imitate the company s core strategies. The supermarket industry itself faces a major threat,
as larger chains such as grocery retailers Wal Mart and Tesco have begun to open small format stores
that mimic the Trader Joe s approach. This invasion results in additional cost pressure for incumbents
like Trader Joe s, which had to let go employees in order to become more cost competitive.

Weaknesses in our infrastructure created by cyber threats

2. Examples of previous exploitation and specific software s
3. How these issues can be addressed?
In almost every application of modern infrastructure, technology plays a huge part in running and
maintaining said infrastructure as efficiently, precisely and reliably as possible. Traffic lights run on
automated cycles, airports have their booking and flight data entirely digitized, and water treatment
systems rely on computerized controls and systems. All of these and many more are pieces of
infrastructure that had once been done by hand, but now use computers and technology to operate at
the rates vital for our fast moving and massive societies. It can be said with great certainty that the
computerized systems behind many of our societies support structures have intrinsically become what
we define with the title of critical infrastructure. The problem with the otherwise efficient and superior
implementations of computerized technology is that now, in the wake of programs such as STUXNET,
it is incredibly apparent that this infrastructure is vulnerable. For any number of reasons or
motivations, terrorist or criminal hackers are able to find ways in to the computerized systems of
critical infrastructure, and as we move forward, these vulnerabilities could easily turn into catastrophic
disasters. Computerized technology has become integral to modern

feed them, to clothe them, to house them, to educate them and then after that to find jobs for them.
That s exactly what s happening right now though; the first two, food and clothing are taken care of by
welfare, housing is taken care of by the huge housing projects you will find in any big city, and
everybody knows the color of people who tend to live in those. Education is taken care of by our
integrated school system and by bussing poor Black kids into well to do White schools just for the
sake of diversity . And after all that, they are either employed through the racist affirmative action
programs, or they sit back and collect welfare off the taxpayer for the rest of their lives while they find
an equally diverse wife, and keep her spitting out kids like a roman candle. One can look at any study
on crime in the more diverse areas of cities, counties, or states, and you will see that as the diversity
level rises, so does the crime rate. The same is true with the spread of AIDS, syphilis, and other
venereal diseases. So why the push for this

Airborne Division Guards Book Report
We are introduced to Melba Pattillo Beals at a young age from her written recollection of old
memories of her not having a fair life before she entered Central High. Once Melba signed her fate to
integrate she faced numerous problems which were threatened days and nights, deadly situations, and
horrifying incidents that got worse once the nine fully integrated. Eventually white segregationists hit
their mark when they infiltrated school grounds in search of the black students, and by doing so, they
made President Eisenhower choose to send the 101st Airborne Division Guards to protect the kids.
The choice had angered many, so the 101st Airborne Division Guards were sent away to be replaced
by the lousy National Guards, and for many months Melba and the others endured the same ugly
treatment everyday with no true protection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The event fueled more hopes for the white folks and their plans of extinguishing integration, and it
made the remaining eight face worse problems in hope for the black kids not to finish the remaining
year, and for Ernest Green not to graduate. Melba makes it through to the last weeks of school with
help from family and friends, and she is surprised to see she has finally made it. Although Melba didn
t return to Central for her Senior year because of Governor Faubus shutting down the schools in Little
Rock, she managed to find a better place to continue. Melba now works as a News Reporter and is
glad that she finally got her story

Vincent Van Gogh Struggles
Vincent Van Gogh famously stated, If you hear a voice in you say you cannot paint , then by all means
paint, and that voice will be silenced. One would never engage in an activity in which you have no
skill. To achieve this skill you must engage in this activity frequently and learn from one s errors. The
only thing that will detain you from achieving this is doubt and fear. Vincent Van Gogh had
perseverance and did not cease his love for painting. He is a famous figure in art history hence he had
a thrilling and intriguing life and stood out from most painters from his time. Vincent had many
struggles in life mentally, emotionally, and physically. But he assimilated from these and carried on

Vincent was secretive and did not blend in with other children. Elisabeth later claimed not only were
his little brothers and sisters like a stranger to him, but he was a stranger to himself as well.(Vincent

Vincent could be in a moment of excitement and then in a moment of depression and sadness. There
were multiple moments that impacted Vincent s life. He traveled to many places to work and never
saw hope in life until he met and fell in love with Ursula ( who was his landlady s daughter). When
Vincent gained enough courage, he avowed his love for her and also asked her to marry him. She
laughed claiming she was already engaged and Vincent, after hearing this, became heartbroken and
returned to his depressing state with the belief that there is no hope in life. Furthermore, Vincent was
mentally challenged, he became fixated and close to God and the bible. It behooved him to become a
pastor like his father, and so he did. He wanted to send God s message to the crowd in sermons but
became too obsessed. Vincent had a fervent sense of vocation but was handicapped by his instability,
his excessive zeal and exaggeration he displayed in everything he took up. Once, he attempted to
persuade his listeners that, sorrow is better than joy ( Vincent pg 18 paragraph 6). Furthermore, at the

Analysis Of The Book The Looking At Irene
Louise Erdrich s Shadow Tag is about a dysfunctional marriage. However, it features characters that
were both hurt and helped by the recording and, to some degree the commodification of American
Indian history. American Indian history both helps and hurts the characters in Shadow Tag. There are
some factors that make the difference between helping and hurting each character. In addition, some
characters benefit more from their past compared to others. In contrast, some characters hurt more
from their pass send some of their counterparts. Irene, Gil and Riel are the three main characters that
are mainly affected by American and Indian history. Nevertheless, each and every character is
impacted by his or her past and heritage in some way or other. In the looking at Irene, one of the most
important characters in the book, we can see how American Indian history has impacted her life
experience. She grew up reading primarily critically acclaimed classic novels. From these works, she
discovered a certain way of looking at the world. In addition, the book says she read sparked her
fascination with history. This led her to pursue a degree in history. However, she was never able to
finish her degree. Her main job is being a stay at home mom, which is when she is not posing for one
of Gil s paintings. Due to the stress that comes along with working with the family member, Irene

Essay Death of a Salesman, Tragic Hero. Willy Loman.
To what extent can Willy Loman be considered a tragic hero according to Aristotle s rules?
Arthur Miller presents his play Death of a Salesman in the ancient form of a tragedy. Aristotle has
defined his idea of the perfect tragedy in his text, Poetics (350 BC).Here he suggests that the
protagonist must fall from an elevated social standing as a result of a fatal flaw within the character;
the fall from the main character creates resolution to the play which is seen as just; finally, Aristotle
identified that the action of the drama should take place within a 24hour timeframe. An ancient play

Willy also obtains an idea that image is equal to success. This is known to be his hubris; excessive

Appropriate Critical Thinking Skills
Having employees with excellent critical thinking skills are the most important trait that one looks for.
There are often times when working for a company that hasty decisions have to be made. Often times
they are made so quickly that proper critical thinking of the situation is not done. This can lead to an
employee having to go back on their decision and try to fix and correct mistakes that were made. So
mistakes can often be an easy fix others can require more time. As an employer I look for employees
that have quick critical thinking skills but, also have the ability to think smart when making critical
thinking choices. I want my employees to have as less mistakes as possible which make my company
run better. The better the employees are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

times you are faced with challenging situations that require smart and quick decisions to be made. I
plan on staying in the medical field and I know that critical thinking will continue to play a major role

Utilitarianism, Virtue And Care Ethics
The three ethical theories I will discuss from Chapter 1 include: utilitarianism, virtue and care ethics.
First, the utilitarianism is moral standard and a theory of action by humans that are morally right in
action. Utilitarianism is an action that is morally right if its consequences are more favorable. One
way for businesses , as our reading suggests (Fieser Moseley, 2012), is make a list of all the good and
bad for any particular act. If the good outweighs the bad then that action should occur. If the bad
outweighs the good, then the action should stop. Utilitarianism theory attempts to keep things on the
positive, happier side of the spectrum. A company using this theory is probably functioning well due
to their morale analysis of actions related to safe products, good quality products and customer care, a
fair price, and fair and equal treatment to their employees. In addition, because utilitarianism is a
morale standard, a company would be environmentally conscious and find ways to help the
community and the world. A company would work at making their products in an environmentally
safe way, recycle surplus and make their products within the United States to support the economy. A
company would also look at balancing goods over harm produced to the environment or people.
Lastly, if a company were to be very successful, they should donate some of their proceeds back into
the community (environmentally or local community support) or employees (bonuses,

Titration Of Hcl Lab Report
For this experiment, a series of strong acid strong base titrations were performed to determine the
unknown solution concentration of HCl. KHP was first titrated with NaOH in order to create a
standardized solution of NaOH. This solution was used to titrate a known volume of the unknown 1
HCl solution. The results were then used to determine the exact concentration of the original HCl
sample. One thing that could be changed during this lab is to use a more neutralized sample of
deionized water. Throughout the rinsing process of the pH probe, the deionized water s pH reading
would be more basic instead of neutral. Therefore, when testing the pH of the analyte, the results were
slightly basic rather than having a pH of zero. This could have resulted in the pH of the solutions
being slightly off when it came to the LabQuest readings.
The volumes of NaOH titrated at the endpoint and equivalence point related to one another throughout
the experiment. The volume was always greater at the endpoint than at the equivalence point. For the
titration of HCl and NaOH, the amount of NaOH added at the endpoint was 9.00 mL and the 2nd
derivative curve amount was 9.033 mL. Throughout Trial 2 and titrations of KHP and NaOH, this
same trend was seen. The most accurate volume amount of NaOH was determined by looking at the
equivalence point. This is the point where all of the H+ was neutralized by OH . The endpoint is
where the indicator, phenolphthalein, changed color based on pH. The color

Abstract. Project Management Is An Essential Tool Which
Abstract
Project management is an essential tool which benefits businesses. There are numerous positions
relating to it, but is it enough to categorize it as a profession? The introduction will provide some
essential definition and remind us what is the project management about. Then, I will develop two
opposed point of view on this matter, the first one answering negatively and the second one positively
to the question asked above. The outlook will be defined progressively by providing some elements
required to be a project management practitioner, while keeping in mind the two current of thoughts.
Introduction
Project management is the discipline of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the

In 2008, the United Kingdom s Association for Project Management (APM), was denied by the Privy
Council for the application of the Royal Chartered status, an act that would recognize project
management as a legal profession. This rejection poses a greater problem: Is it really true that project
management is a profession that that be compared to teaching or medicine?
Are the previously cited organizations biased in their assumptions?
When technical people involved as project managers are asked this question, most of them will
certainly answer by saying that they might not describe themselves as project managers. For them,
project management is a methodology they will use to deliver their projects.
A basketball player who is highly competent and earning a living at what most do for a hobby will be
entitled as a professional. However, meeting these criteria does not mean than basketball is a
profession although such a player might call it his profession, his job.
In my opinion this is a false logic, project management is not a profession but a process as it scored
less than 34 out of a possible 100 points when assessed against 22 attributes defined by Zwerman and
Thomas et al during a study funded in part by PMI and published in 2004. They reached the
conclusion that project management is not a profession and will likely not be one in the foreseeable
future.
To become a profession, one must be able to define and control the body of knowledge. The

Revenge In Beowulf Research Paper
Revenge causes many of the acts of characters in Beowulf. It is a prominent theme throughout the
book. Most of the acts revenge causes are battles between two characters, resulting in a death. These
events include Grendel attacking Heorot, Beowulf killing Grendel, Grendel s mother killing Aschere,
and Beowulf attacking Grendel s mother. Revenge in Beowulf helps provide context for the fighting
and killing throughout the book.
The Finn Episode represents the theme of revenge throughout the entire book. The episode is
described as this, The Danish chieftain Hnaef and his band of retainers are attacked at night by their
host the Frisian king Finn, husband of Hnaef s sister Hildeburh. After several days of fighting, in
which Hnaef and, on the other side, Hildeburh s son are among those killed, neither side can achieve a
decisive victory. Hengest, the new leader of the Danes, reluctantly makes peace with Finn, and the
Danish and Frisian dead are burned side by side. The uneasy truce is broken at winter s end when the

Then the fierce evil demon suffered distress, long in torment, who dwelt in darkness. For day after

Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is not a subject to take lightly. Being in high school, students are held to high
standards. They are in fact young adults who are trying to build their success to go onto the next step
in life, but just one mistake can ruin everything. Having unprotected sex is the leading cause to
teenagers getting pregnant. Oral contraceptives are recommended if girls are sexually active, but being
on birth control does not give them one hundred percent accuracy of not becoming pregnant.
A problem to teen pregnancies can be unprotected sex, as said in the first paragraph, that is the number
one cause to getting pregnant. When girls and boys become teenagers, their bodies start to develop all
of these hormones, and that is when people start taking the route of having sex. Having sex can be a
huge roller coaster, because not only are they giving themselves away to their partner, they are putting
their own life at risk. Almost 1,700 teen girls get pregnant every single day (Teen Vogue). That is
seventy girls every hour.
Not only can becoming pregnant be hard for the mother, but for the child too. The normal signs that
the teen may be pregnant can be that she misses her period or that she gets morning sickness. Mothers
may experience high blood pressure (hypertension), and they have a higher risk of preeclampsia. This
is a dangerous medical condition that combines high blood pressure

At many times, the reader gets a glimpse of that worried and terrified young girl, but throughout most of the novel, Nefertiti is portrayed to be a strong and controlling Chief Wife of the Pharaoh. She clings to the idea that she is a virgin for her lover s sake. She does not want him to be tainted like she has been. In my opinion, the most shocking fact I came into grips with was that not only Anderson and her father knew of the incest, but so did the mother and the elder brother. It made me wonder what type of brainwash or control did he have over them to keep them all quiet and ignorant. Then in the poem The Good Christian. The father used religion and twisted it up; tricking his daughter into thinking what he was doing was just. And so in church you were afraid. You knew. / That closing your eyes made no prayer come true. / That all sins of sinner were forgiven. Yet in this poem, she is looking back on her father s words and recalling when she was in church at how confused she was. No matter how her father was, she was brainwashed into believing he d be forgiven. Towards the end of the book, as a reader, you may feel emotionless or full of swelled up emotions, making what to burst into tears. Marjane says, we found ourselves veiled and separated from our friends (4). Concealing these children from the childhood they deserved left them to deal with fear, anger, loss and death. Her story highlights the lack of stability children need to grow into responsible adults. Marjane s story represents the thousands of children in Iran who are lacking the proper elements for child development because of the revolution. Though the veil forms an inconvenience in the lives of all Iranian women, it serves as a form of protection in their lives against the dangerous religious extremists fighting for the revolution. • 15. Essay On Discipline Discipline According to Sailor (2010), Discipline comes from the Latin word disciplina, meaning instruction or teaching to correct, strengthen, or perfect. The article talks about discipline and punishment in the education system, whereas parents and some teachers view discipline as a punishment while educators view it as a teaching strategy that can exclude punishment. As it stated by Hogan (2012), True discipline, however, comes from within the child. Therefore, parents and teachers are aware that discipline is not through punishment, but through (1) guidance and teaching, (2) experiencing freedom, and (3) experiencing the natural consequences to his actions. The students have to experience freedom in order for them to learn how to behave instead of punishment that can lead to something else such as death or violence in the classroom. The importance of freedom in the classroom is that, students get to experience what is right and what is wrong on their own (will they do it again or not?), develop themselves physically, learning how to control themselves, and mentally and emotionally, as they practice to think of themselves. All of these and many more are pieces of infrastructure that had once been done by hand, but now use computers and technology to operate at the rates vital for our fast moving and massive societies. It can be said with great certainty that the computerized systems behind many of our societies support structures have intrinsically become what we define with the title of critical infrastructure. • 28. Utilitarianism, Virtue And Care Ethics The three ethical theories I will discuss from Chapter 1 include: utilitarianism, virtue and care ethics. First, the utilitarianism is moral standard and a theory of action by humans that are morally right in action. Utilitarianism is an action that is morally right if its consequences are more favorable. One way for businesses , as our reading suggests (Fieser Moseley, 2012), is make a list of all the good and bad for any particular act. If the good outweighs the bad then that action should occur. If the bad outweighs the good, then the action should stop. Utilitarianism theory attempts to keep things on the positive, happier side of the spectrum. A company using this theory is probably functioning well due to their morale analysis of actions related to safe products, good quality products and customer care, a fair price, and fair and equal treatment to their employees. In addition, because utilitarianism is a morale standard, a company would be environmentally conscious and find ways to help the community and the world. A company would work at making their products in an environmentally safe way, recycle surplus and make their products within the United States to support the economy. A company would also look at balancing goods over harm produced to the environment or people. KHP was first titrated with NaOH in order to create a standardized solution of NaOH. This solution was used to titrate a known volume of the unknown 1 HCl solution. The results were then used to determine the exact concentration of the original HCl sample. One thing that could be changed during this lab is to use a more neutralized sample of deionized water. Throughout the rinsing process of the pH probe, the deionized water s pH reading would be more basic instead of neutral. Therefore, when testing the pH of the analyte, the results were slightly basic rather than having a pH of zero. This could have resulted in the pH of the solutions being slightly off when it came to the LabQuest readings. The volumes of NaOH titrated at the endpoint and equivalence point related to one another throughout the experiment. The volume was always greater at the endpoint than at the equivalence point. For the titration of HCl and NaOH, the amount of NaOH added at the endpoint was 9.00 mL and the 2nd derivative curve amount was 9.033 mL. Throughout Trial 2 and titrations of KHP and NaOH, this same trend was seen. The most accurate volume amount of NaOH was determined by looking at the equivalence point.
