My Visit At The Huntington Museum Of Art
The first thing I noticed at the Huntington Museum of Art was how quiet and empty it was. This was
not displeasing however quite the opposite in fact. The atmosphere was perfect for contemplation and
thought, which is exactly what I want in a museum. I was still surprised of course; my visit to the Art
Institute of Chicago had been very different. Unlike in Huntington, Chicago s museum was packed to
the brim, and the people within it practically shouting just to be heard. It is very easy to decide which
one I liked more, in terms of surroundings anyway. As I walked along, my footsteps echoing, I could
not help but feel like there was something missing. The art was perfectly fine, but there was a lack of
liveliness to the place, something that Chicago had in spades. I remember noticing that the art only
had names, and no descriptions. This was something I disliked extremely. It is nice to look at images I
suppose, but I want some history. I want the time period, and a description of the artist, two things that
play a huge role in what a painting is actually about. I felt like I should just naturally understand what
each piece of art was trying to describe to me, which was an irritating feeling.
It only took me about twenty minutes to go through the entire museum. Nothing really drew me in,
except for a couple of pieces. This was entirely different from my visit to the Art Institute of Chicago.
There, almost everything drew me in. All the paintings, and especially some of

Sweatshops Research Paper
Nowaday, the fashion develops very fast and more and more fashion industry have been established
especially the sweatshops for the unethical fashion industry. Some people think the sweatshops should
not establish because it cause the problems for the workers but some of people go against and show
the advantages of the sweatshops opening. In my viewpoint, the sweatshops can not be closed down
but they can be improved by the consumers. Therefore, the essay will be focus on the determine of
sweatshops, the problems for the workers if establishing the sweatshops and the advantages of
opening the sweatshops.
The sweatshops for the fashion industry
Sweatshops which is written by Gary Chaison who is an industrial relations scholar and labor historian
at Clark University claim that the sweatshops are the workplace which is organised by the unethical
employers. It means the workers work for a long time under the stressful and dangerous conditions but
only get less wage in the sweatshops. The sweatshops are normally established for the fashion
industry. The reason why are the sweatshops help the fashion industry to separate the higher and lower
skilled job and contract out the lower skilled one easily. Moreover, the cost for establishing the
sweatshops is lower because the equipment for making the clothes will cost less money and can be
used for a long time. However, there are some advantages and disadvantages of the sweatshops that
cause the argument of establishing.

Jimmy Kimmel Research Paper
The person I admire greatly is Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy Kimmel is a comedian on a show called The
Late Show . When I watch the late show I laugh the whole time because I think Jimmy Kimmel is a
very good comedian. I also admire him for the reason that I want to be like him when I grow up. To be
a comedian when I grow up I must acquire a good sense of humor. To have a good sense of humor, I
have to be humorous I look up to Jimmy Kimmel to learn how he uses delivery, content, and tone to
make his jokes better so I can use those tactics to make my jokes better. One day, I want to be as good
as a comedian as Jimmy Kimmel because it makes me feel good when other people laugh at my jokes.

Performance Evaluation Of The Medium Access Control
STATEMENT OF WORK Vehicular Communication Systems are designed to enhance safety, comfort
and intelligence for divers and autonomous driving. The system enables communication between
vehicles and between the vehicle and roadside units in order to avoid traffic congestions and accidents
in a collaborative way. Two sets of standards, i.e. IEEE802.11p and IEEE 1609 series are proposed for
this purpose including technical specifications for vehicular communications and networking. This
project is focused on the performance evaluation of the medium access control (MAC) protocols for
both vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications. The network throughput in
relation to back off window size and other technical factors at the physical layers such as modulation
and coding schemes and at the network and resource management layers will be examined. The
differentiation in protocol coordination and parameter setting between V2V and V2I will be identified
and analysed accordingly. INTRODUCTION Over the past couple of years, vehicular communication
has become one of the most active research areas of many academic research groups and automotive
industries, owing to its unique advantages and numerous applications. Also, research in this area has
gained keen interest and support from major safety organizations and governments since a well
structured vehicular network system provides safety for passengers, efficient and reliable
transportation system and infotainment

Criminal Behavior And The Lack Of Education
Criminal behavior is something that affects everyone, even if you don t particularly engage in the act
itself. Every time a crime is committed, we often find ourselves wondering what led that person to do
that crime. We wonder why they did it because it is something that we could never do, so therefor we
cannot fathom the act of engaging in criminal activity. Some people feel that people only engage in it
just because they lack the thing that they try to steal or because of their specific background and race.
In actuality, there is a link between criminal behavior and the lack of education. However there is also
a link between the attainment of education and criminal behavior. There are several ways that theories
suggest the affect that education can have on decisions that a criminal may make beforehand.
According to chapter seven (Conformity, Deviance, and Crime) of the textbook Introduction to
Sociology, functionalist theories along with Emile Durkheim and his concept of an anomie, which is a
situation where social norms loose their hold over individual behavior gives us insight into the
struggle between education and criminal behavior. Functionalist theories see crime and deviance
resulting from structural tensions and a lack of moral regulation. (Page 172) Students dropping out of
school and coming from difficult backgrounds is seen as a norm within society. Due to their being a
failure to try and alter these things, students seek comfort elsewhere. As a result,

include Medical Stents, Heart Valves, Plastic bottles and Fans. Riordan is based in the United States,
with an expansion manufacturing plant in China. The Chinese plant produces fans. Team A will review
the manufacturing process of the fans in China, and discuss a more efficient plan for a new Inventory
management system, Mass customization, Lean Production and methods for Strategic planning.

Mass Customization
At the present time, Riordan is receiving customized orders worldwide under individual customer
contracts. This separate process demands time and labor costs separately from the regular supply chain
management. Simchi Levi, Kaminsky, and Simchi Levi (2008) describes that if each unit of the supply
chain performs specialized skills and applies learning curve process, workers can develop expertise
and efficiency for mass production. Because each process of the supply chain manages these modules
with more efficiency each time, fans can be assembled separately in order to customize products
according to customer s requirements. This differentiation in the product also involves efficiency and
low cost in all the processes. Riordan Manufacturing can use their Pontiac, Michigan plant for final
customization details on the product with the only purpose to delivery in less time to big markets like
the United States and other America countries. The Michigan plant can receive a semi finished product
from China without affecting quality and costs, only for mass customization purposes, in order to
generate additional customers with innovative products with competitive advantages. This dynamic
network can be more marketable to Riordan Manufacturing to extend their customers to other
countries with the same product but with a differentiation on style and appearance details. Through

Nurture Strongly Influences Early Human Development

Nurture strongly influences early human development
Introduction
While nature produces healthy, well formed infants, nurture helps in developing them in the early
stages of their lives through practice and experience. It means that the early development of a human
is effective and faster by nurture than what comes out of nature. All children go through the same
sequences of growth and development in the same order right from their mother s womb, be it the
development of parts of the body and the development of organs, motor development after birth,
development of speech, etc.. Nature leads to ordinary development of a fetus into a human but it
cannot develop an infant into a healthy minded or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
can affect normal maturation of a fetus. So, it can be clearly noted from above that a fetus can be
completely organized and well developed only when given quality nurturing.
Influence of genetics and environment on the motor development of a child after birth
All children go through the same sequence of motor behaviors in the same order but they go through
the sequence at different rates. It is because those children who are not given attention or taken good
of (nurtured) are seen to develop in a slower rate than those who are given quality nurture. Even if a
child is born physically challenged, he/she can be trained or given physiotherapy treatment to improve
him/her to at least take care of their own selves. This clearly illustrates that practice and experience
makes a child to learn things faster and in a much better way than those children who are left
unnoticed.
Genetic and environmental influence on a child s development of speech
All human infants learn to speak in the course of normal development, but not until they have attained
a certain level of neurological development. It is applicable for both, children who are given as well as
children who are given quality nurture. As we already discussed on the motor development of a child
after birth, even here, in the case of development of speech of a child, the fact is

Animal Imagery In Timothy Findley s The Wars Essay
Animal Imagery In Timothy Findley s The Wars
Works Cited Missing
The abundant animal imagery in Timothy Findley s book The Wars is used to develop characterization
and theme. The protagonist, Robert Ross, has a deep connection with animals that reflects his
personality and the situations that he faces. This link between Robert and the animals shows the reader
that human nature is not much different than animal nature.
The animals in this story are closely related to the characters, especially the character of Robert.
Rodwell acknowledges Robert s close union with animals when he draws Robert in his sketchbook as
the only human form among sketches of animals (155). When Robert sees the drawing, he notices that

One of the horses breaks its leg and Robert is ordered to kill it. He shoots it once, but the horse is still
alive and its mane is described as a tangle of rattlesnakes (68). The snakes symbolize the feelings of
immorality that are welling up inside of Robert. He knows that killing an animal is against his moral
values, but his role in the army is more important to him. He feels that he has to show his nerve and
ability as an officer (66). Robert finally shoots the horse behind its ear and kills it. This is the first time
he intentionally kills a living creature in the story.
Robert s ethics return to him and take priority over military obedience when he tries to rescue horses
from the cruelties of war. Robert disobeys Captain Leather s orders and tries to free the horses from
the barn that is threatened by falling shells. Unfortunately, the horses die before he can save them all
and Robert is filled with anger, shooting Captain Leather between the eyes for causing their death.
From this moment on, he rebels against anyone who does not respect his love for animals. This
rebellion continues when he barricades himself in a barn with the horses and shouts, [w]e shall not be
taken (212). It is Robert s strong connection with the horses that leads to his downfall, because the we
implies to Major Mickle that Robert has an accomplice, and for that reason an attack is ordered.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Helped with the Expansion of the LGBT Movement
Texas Chainsaw Massacre pushes the boundaries of cinematic horror. The movie has the viewers infer
the gore and deaths of some of the characters. It does not show the blood or the dismembering of the
victim, but the viewer still feels as if they watched it actually happen. The director Tobe Hooper has
the viewer realize on their own the hidden messages within his film. The film has been correlated to
the representation of the slaughterhouse thus promoting vegetarianism. Also has been related to the
Vietnam War with America sending its youth to the war where they will die. It even has been

State Judicial Structures
Assessing the Impact of State Judicial Structures on Citizens Litigiousness by Jeff Yates, Holley
Tankersley, and Paul Brace describes the structure of the state judicial courts with its dependence on
certain internal and external principles that will influence the overall participation of individual s
litigation cases. The authors main question explores the role that state legal institutions played in
explaining state variation in legal mobilization. (Yates, Tankersley, Brace, 2010, 796) The authors
postulate this question because they believe that differences in the elemental structure of the judicial
system affect the degree to which citizens involve the legal system for redress. (796) The authors
further elaborated on their question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I usually think of the court, I usually think of it as a level headed branch that is unbiased and
can answer my question, my problems, and societal issues with any personal views. This view of mine
is broken with many facets influencing courts. Judicial selection and judicial professionalism are key
concepts that broke my previous views and towards a better understanding the current process to
litigations. I find it rather eye opening that if a judge were to run either as a partisan or a nonpartisan
judge that he or she will receive almost the same amount of attention on them. In the other statements,
I found myself reasonably agreeing with most of them. Elected judges similar to elected politicians
will try to hold their bastion of support by honoring their voter intention and vote subtly along partisan
lines as a form of certainty. In contrast, appointed judges bring more uncertainty and more chances of
change in society given their lack of an ideological background. Judicial professionalism as stated
previously make sense that their legal background make a prominent stance in a courtroom with them
making fewer decisive legal rulings, having a robust legal team, and being paid a higher salary. In

The Marketing Strategy Of Business Strategy
The research program started in 1984 by MIT Sloan School of Management studies the influence of IT
on organization (Morton, 1991). Results include IT application needs changes in organizational and
management structure as well as organizations are required to go through necessary transformation to
compete globally. That findings lead to the MIT90S framework. Another study looked at the IT s
responsiveness to business strategy creation (Tan, 1995). Here, the responsiveness is defined as the
degree to which information technology is exactly considered in the formulation of business strategy.
The key finding is that the prospector business strategy is more IT strategy responsiveness than

Firstly, the company develop a business strategy. Secondly, the company choose an appropriate

Information Technology (IT) with the business strategy. IT here is treated as a back office support
(Allen Morton, 1994). In addition, employees will be trained and their functions are designed
specifically. As a result, the most important issue in this model is to determine the strategic vision and
to handle the problems of implementation. According to figure2, in contrast, in the MIT strategic
model of change and fit, an emergent perspective , the components are more interrelated. The strategic
fit attempts to align the organization with its external environment and to manage the internal
resources to meet that alignment (Miyamoto, Kudo and Iizuka, 2014). In terms of strategic change, the
business strategy is being shaped gradually and is an outcome instead of a driver. In terms of IT, IT
becomes an integrated part of a firm s key business process. To be more specific, the story begins with
the increasing and tactical adoption of technology in order to catch up with the performance of the
competitors. Then, it becomes the driver of changes in individual roles, management process and
corporate structure, which constituting

Bodybuilding And Its Effect On The Body
Bodybuilding has been around for centuries, it began as a Greek idea to transform the body. The exact
definition of bodybuilding is the practice of strengthening and enlarging the muscles of the body
through exercises. Greeks would primarily use large stones of different weight to gain muscular
enhancement. Though their techniques seem incompetent compared to the training of modern day
bodybuilders it is not all that different. The stones substituted for modern weights and as a result they
were still able to accomplish impressive body transformations.
The first person to be recognized for modern day bodybuilding Eugene Sandow, he would let the
masses view his muscular figure in awe as he flexed on stage for the crowds. Though he was not being
compared to other bodybuilders on stage like present day bodybuilders would be, he was the first
person to use his physic strictly for aesthetic and viewing purposes. Most large muscular men at the
time used their bodies for wrestling or strength performance. Eugene became so popular he later
patented his own exercise equipment for the public. These workout devices included tension bands,
machine dumbbells, and spring pulleys.
In 1904 the first large scale bodybuilding competition took place in New York City at the Madison
Square Garden. The winner was Al Treloar, he was declared the most perfectly developed man in the
world. He was given a one thousand dollar cash prize which was a substantial amount of money at the
time.

What Went Wrong With Area 51
It was a normal day in Rachel Nevada, despite the superstitious date. The day was friday, November

extraterrestrial life. They knew this because scientists discovered a way to create a device to scan the

Analysis Of Pride And Fate In Oedipus Rex
A Subject of Pride and Fate
Although they are vastly different in their respective time periods and thus, culture, the stories of
Oedipus Rex and Monkey: Story of the West have managed to capture an aspect of the human
condition that has not changed over the millennia: the excess of pride. Humanity has also questioned
the impact and control over their lives, wondering if some omniscient, higher power influences their
lives or if man is truly in charge of paving their own destiny. Such philosophical thinking has also
surpassed time and space, taking harbor in literature and media. Such themes are present in the tale of
Oedipus Rex, written in 442 BCE in Athens, which details the story of a man fated to murder his
father and wed his mother (Puchner 705). Determined to save themselves from the prophecy
unfolding, Jocasta and Laius, Oedipus parents, had planned for the death of their cursed child by their
shepherd. However, mercy struck the heart of the shepherd and he brought the infant to a royal
household where they had raised Oedipus. As the prince of Corinth, Oedipus receives a message from
the oracle, confirmed by the Tiresias, the prophet, that he is the murderer from the prophecy. Driven
by self preservation due to his pride, Oedipus ignores such warnings causing the continuation of the
plague to destroy the city of Thebes. Not only had Oedipus allowed the suffering of a great
population, but also decides, in a further attempt to appease his prideful nature to

the rules in order to find ways around them. A gambler may spend weeks memorizing each rule, both
written and unwritten, before he even considers going into a casino. After this, he may spend several
more months learning how to beat these rules and perfecting the tricks.

After a few days, the gambler will select a new place to try his so called luck at a new target. This
time, however, he will be different. He will be more sure of himself, possibly a little more cocky, more
polished with every bit of experience he gains. To a person who doesn t know what to look for, this
could be taken as a positive change. That would be a false accusation. In all reality, this makes the
gambler easier to mark as a professional, meaning he will be watched more carefully. At the first sign
of counting cards or anything of the sort, he could be asked to leave. This makes his confidence his
greatest weakness, because confidence leads to arrogance, arrogance to carelessness, and carelessness
to mistakes. The process was very well described by gambler Hunter S. Thompson when he said
Gambling can turn into a dangerous two way street. When you least expect it, weird things happen,
and your life can go all to pieces.
Now that you have a bit of knowledge on the subject, let s look at some examples from
BranyQuote.com, a website that has a large compilation of quotes from all kinds of gamblers. First,
we have one man who retained his mental state and did not become a victim of gambling. No
presidential candidate should visit Las Vegas without condemning organized gambling (Ralph Nader).
However, others, such as Hunter S. Thompson, let it consume them completely. Thompson proved this
when he said Without gambling, I would not exist.

Human Ghosting Essay
Existing conceptual frameworks to understand person in cyber environment A historical analysis of
the theories of technology suggests that there is a broader demarcation of these theories anti
humanism, humanism, and post humanism (Pelt, 2002, 307). The anti humanist approach has
portrayed technology as a driving force and generally sees human beings and their environments from
the lens of technological determinism. Falling in line with social constructionism, the humanists
approach depicts human beings as the main actors in order to give importance to the agency. The post
humanistic approach considers humans, technology, other species, and any other organic agents of the
environment as actors. In this model, humans are not at the top nor do they come first horizontally on
any axis of human existence. Post humanists recognize the importance of agency but they bequeathed
its importance to other organic parts of the human existence such as non human objects and
recognized them as actors. In this schema of analysis, human ghosting falls in the post humanist
category. Giving credence to the pluralistic theoretical approach, this paper tries to see if the new
virtual cyber environment and human ghosting can be explained by any of the following theory or
they set a stage or contribute to understanding the new environment and human ghosting. ... Show

Natural selection determines the behavior, change and even origin of species. Accordingly, adaptation
occurs among members of species with those traits that favor reproduction, assuming greater
prevalence over those with lesser reproductive rates. However, it is also accepted that a person is free
to change his or her environment through adaptation. Darwin s natural selection and Herbert Spencer s
survival of the fittest gave basis to Lenski s ecological system

The Career Of A Makeup Artist
Starting at the age of 11, there was this young girl who began to get really interested into makeup. Her
dad though, did not really like makeup at all so she snuck it on whenever she got to school and made
sure she took it off either while she and her brothers walked home or before her dad came to pick her
up. This young girl was only in the 6th grade, which is kind of reasonable now that she thinks back on
it, but when she was 11 she thought it was the most unfair thing; why stop her from doing something
she like that expresses herself and who she am as a person? But as time went on and she got older and
understood that it just meant he was scared that she was growing up too quickly. Being a Makeup

work well with others. Being a makeup artist is all about working and interacting with people and if
you can not do that or do not like to be around people then this is not for you. The experience you
have varies a lot more than the education you have. You could have all the education in the world
about being a makeup artist, but that does not mean you are good at it or have the creative eye for it.
You could work with big name brand companies like MAC, Sephora, Makeup Geek, and Ulta without
going to school for it, but just simply because you are good at it and you have the passion for it. Onto
the duties of being a makeup artist, which vary as to what you want to do in makeup artistry. Some
may have to sell makeup products if they are studying the businesses of the makeup, while others may
have the duty of applying the makeup, whether it be special effects makeup, glam makeup, or regular
day to day makeup which are the specific duties. General duties would be how to interact with clients,
being a makeup artist you have to know your client like what they want how they want it and what
they like. Without knowing any of that information you could be completely clueless and the client
may end up hating what you did for them. Personality is a huge thing when working with people, you

Stone Family Structure
Family Structure and Organization The Stone family in the movie The Stone Family consists of two
parents, Sybil and Kelly, two sisters, Amy and Susanah, and three brothers, Everett, Ben, and Thad. In
the family, each member finds family to be an important aspect of their lives and takes great pride in
celebrating major holidays together. The main goal of the Stone family is to protect each member and
to be open towards their viewpoints on the aspects of the family dynamic. To the social worker, it
seems that the family has a compassionate viewpoint on how to treat each member, but often does not
show that same compassion to outsiders that do not reflect the same family viewpoints. However,
family members that also do not display the same viewpoints as the majority often are shown directed

person must make a new batch of coffee. Coffee is an important drink for the Stone family and most
of them drink it throughout the day. Out of courtesy, the family members make sure that each other

What is environmental ethics? Ethics is a branch of philosophy that involves the study of good and
bad, of right and wrong. It includes theories such as relativism and universalism. Virtue, Categorical
Imperative, and the principle of utility are three ethical standards. Environmental ethics is the
application of ethical standards to relationships between humans and nonhuman entities.
Compare and contrast anthropocentrism, biocentrism, and ecocentrism. Anthropocentrism describes a
human centered view of our relationship with the environment. An anthropocentric denies or ignores
the notion that nonhuman entities can have rights. In contrast biocentrism ascribes value to certain
living things or to the biotic realm in general. In this perpective human life and non human life both
have ethical standing. Ecocentrism judges actions in terms of their effects on whole ecological
systems, which consist of living and nonliving elements and the relationships among them.
Differentiate between the preservation ethic and the conservation ethic. Explain the contributions of
John Muir and Gifford Pinchot in the history of environmental ethics. The preservation ethic hold that
we should protect our environment in a pristine, unaltered state whereas the conservation ethic people
should put natural resources to use but that we have a responsibility to manage them wisely. John
Muir argued that nature deserved protection for its own inherent value, but he also maintained that

Bobo Doll Experiment Essay
Homework assignment #1
In the Bobo Doll experiment conducted by Albert Bandura, researchers were interested in testing
children s behavior in response to their exposure to violence. This study was constructed with 72
children, 36 boys and 36 girls from Stanford University Nursery School. Before the study began, each
child was individually scored on his or her level of aggression towards others, as rated by the
experimenter and the child s teacher. Then the children were separated into groups based on a similar
score of aggression. The children were separated into three groups of 24 children. The three groups
allowed the experimenter to create the conditions used to test the children s response to violence,
which was the independent variable, as it affects the children s aggressive behavior, the dependent
variable. The first group of subjects was the aggressive model group, where the subjects were

Attitudes are positive or negative evaluations of a particular thing. Operant conditioning is the process
in which people learn though their experience of rewards or punishments. Observational learning is
learning by observing others, but we do not need to experience rewards and punishments. This being
said, in the study, there was no negative attitude towards the children behaving violently. Operant
conditioning uses punishments and rewards to fashion behavior, and in this study, the children were
rewarded by being able to play with toys and given time to play however they wanted without the
punishment for their actions, producing a positive attitude towards the aggression displayed.
Observational learning is the basis of the whole study, as it was proved with this study that by
observing others we can learn just as we learn through personal experience. We do not need to only

Hospitals are among the most regulated of all building types. Like other buildings, they must follow

Hospital patients are often fearful and confused and these feelings may impede recovery. Every effort
should be made to make the hospital stay as unthreatening, comfortable, and stress free as possible.
The interior designer plays a major role in this effort to create a therapeutic environment. A hospital s
interior design should be based on a comprehensive understanding of the facility s mission and its
patient profile. The characteristics of the patient profile will determine the degree to which the interior
design should address aging, loss of visual acuity, other physical and mental disabilities, and
abusiveness (WBDG, 2010).
Some important aspects of creating a therapeutic interior are: * Using familiar and culturally relevant
materials wherever consistent with sanitation and other functional needs. Using cheerful and varied
colors and textures, keeping in mind that some colors are inappropriate and can interfere with provider
assessments of patients pallor and skin tones, disorient older or impaired patients, or agitate patients
and staff, particularly some psychiatric patients (WBDG, 2010). * Admitting ample natural light
wherever feasible and using color corrected lighting in interior spaces which closely approximates
natural daylight * Providing views of the outdoors from every patient bed, and elsewhere wherever
possible; photo murals of nature scenes are helpful where outdoor views are not available * Designing

How can the actions of Hopkins be considered wrong or punishable when related legislation and the
circumstances for moral condemnation were both absent?
Secondly, how can you claim compensation when you have no ownership of HeLa cells? The Lacks
family claimed that they deserved a cut of the profits of HeLa cells.
...All they knew was that Gey had grown their mother s cells at Hopkins, someone somewhere was
making money off of them, and that someone wasn t related to Henrietta Lacks. So, in an attempt to
get Hopkins to give them what they saw as their cut of the HeLa profits, they made handouts about
Henrietta Lacks s family being owed their due (Skloot 140)...
That someone somewhere making money off of HeLa cells was almost the entire medical community
that had been doing so for decades. Besides the self evident impracticality of getting a majority of
those groups to pay up, these companies, scientists, researchers, etc. get their profits from having
transformed her cells into cell lines, vaccines, and cures. Essentially, those products, and therefore
those profits, are the result of human ingenuity and not truly Henrietta

Hunger Game Censorship
In Canada, as in other democratic societies, people enjoy freedom of expression and many are against
the practice of censorship. Despite the fact that there is often quite a lot of controversy when a book is
banned or challenged for various reasons, one thing is clear that censorship is necessary, even if we
don t like it. As a matter of fact, controversy around censorship more often arises in a grey area, where
arguments can be made and are made either to support or refute banning a certain book. The Hunger
Game, a fiction by Suzanne Collins, is a case that has aroused a lot of controversy among the public.
Its movie adaptation has a (censorship) rating of PG 13, which could also be taken as an acceptable
approach toward the book.

Essay On The Voting Rights Act Of 1965
The voting rights act of 1965 was designed to prohibit discrimination based on race, and requires
certain jurisdictions to prove bilingual assistance to language minority voters. The act banned the use
of literacy tests, provided for federal oversight of voter registration in areas where less than 50 percent
of the nonwhite population had not registered to vote. Still voting rights gave African American voters
the legal means to challenge voting restrictions and vastly improved voter turnout. In Mississippi
alone, voter turnout among blacks increased from 6 percent in 1964 to 59 percent in 1969. When the
law was first passed, they made the blacks take a test to be able to vote. (history.com). Since 1965 the

representatives passed the bill by a vote of 333 85 on July 9th. Johnson signed the voting rights act
into law on August 6th by Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders present at the
ceremony. Prior to the Civil war, African Americans were almost totally disenfranchised throughout
the states. Latino voters faced similar barriers to voting in Texas and other parts of the southwest.
Native Americans and Asian Americans voters in the west did the same. Even after enactment of the
15th amendment to the constitution in 1870, which gave all men, regardless race, color, or previous
condition of servitude of the right to vote, many states continued to use various methods to prevent
people of color from voting, including literacy tests and poll taxes which most blacks could not afford.

  • 2. My Visit At The Huntington Museum Of Art The first thing I noticed at the Huntington Museum of Art was how quiet and empty it was. This was not displeasing however quite the opposite in fact. The atmosphere was perfect for contemplation and thought, which is exactly what I want in a museum. I was still surprised of course; my visit to the Art Institute of Chicago had been very different. Unlike in Huntington, Chicago s museum was packed to the brim, and the people within it practically shouting just to be heard. It is very easy to decide which one I liked more, in terms of surroundings anyway. As I walked along, my footsteps echoing, I could not help but feel like there was something missing. The art was perfectly fine, but there was a lack of liveliness to the place, something that Chicago had in spades. I remember noticing that the art only had names, and no descriptions. This was something I disliked extremely. It is nice to look at images I suppose, but I want some history. I want the time period, and a description of the artist, two things that play a huge role in what a painting is actually about. I felt like I should just naturally understand what each piece of art was trying to describe to me, which was an irritating feeling. It only took me about twenty minutes to go through the entire museum. Nothing really drew me in, except for a couple of pieces. This was entirely different from my visit to the Art Institute of Chicago. There, almost everything drew me in. All the paintings, and especially some of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sweatshops Research Paper Nowaday, the fashion develops very fast and more and more fashion industry have been established especially the sweatshops for the unethical fashion industry. Some people think the sweatshops should not establish because it cause the problems for the workers but some of people go against and show the advantages of the sweatshops opening. In my viewpoint, the sweatshops can not be closed down but they can be improved by the consumers. Therefore, the essay will be focus on the determine of sweatshops, the problems for the workers if establishing the sweatshops and the advantages of opening the sweatshops. The sweatshops for the fashion industry Sweatshops which is written by Gary Chaison who is an industrial relations scholar and labor historian at Clark University claim that the sweatshops are the workplace which is organised by the unethical employers. It means the workers work for a long time under the stressful and dangerous conditions but only get less wage in the sweatshops. The sweatshops are normally established for the fashion industry. The reason why are the sweatshops help the fashion industry to separate the higher and lower skilled job and contract out the lower skilled one easily. Moreover, the cost for establishing the sweatshops is lower because the equipment for making the clothes will cost less money and can be used for a long time. However, there are some advantages and disadvantages of the sweatshops that cause the argument of establishing. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Performance Evaluation Of The Medium Access Control STATEMENT OF WORK Vehicular Communication Systems are designed to enhance safety, comfort and intelligence for divers and autonomous driving. The system enables communication between vehicles and between the vehicle and roadside units in order to avoid traffic congestions and accidents in a collaborative way. Two sets of standards, i.e. IEEE802.11p and IEEE 1609 series are proposed for this purpose including technical specifications for vehicular communications and networking. This project is focused on the performance evaluation of the medium access control (MAC) protocols for both vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications. The network throughput in relation to back off window size and other technical factors at the physical layers such as modulation and coding schemes and at the network and resource management layers will be examined. The differentiation in protocol coordination and parameter setting between V2V and V2I will be identified and analysed accordingly. INTRODUCTION Over the past couple of years, vehicular communication has become one of the most active research areas of many academic research groups and automotive industries, owing to its unique advantages and numerous applications. Also, research in this area has gained keen interest and support from major safety organizations and governments since a well structured vehicular network system provides safety for passengers, efficient and reliable transportation system and infotainment ... • 6. Criminal Behavior And The Lack Of Education Criminal behavior is something that affects everyone, even if you don t particularly engage in the act itself. Every time a crime is committed, we often find ourselves wondering what led that person to do that crime. We wonder why they did it because it is something that we could never do, so therefor we cannot fathom the act of engaging in criminal activity. Some people feel that people only engage in it just because they lack the thing that they try to steal or because of their specific background and race. In actuality, there is a link between criminal behavior and the lack of education. However there is also a link between the attainment of education and criminal behavior. There are several ways that theories suggest the affect that education can have on decisions that a criminal may make beforehand. According to chapter seven (Conformity, Deviance, and Crime) of the textbook Introduction to Sociology, functionalist theories along with Emile Durkheim and his concept of an anomie, which is a situation where social norms loose their hold over individual behavior gives us insight into the struggle between education and criminal behavior. Functionalist theories see crime and deviance resulting from structural tensions and a lack of moral regulation. (Page 172) Students dropping out of school and coming from difficult backgrounds is seen as a norm within society. Due to their being a failure to try and alter these things, students seek comfort elsewhere. As a result, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mass Customization At the present time, Riordan is receiving customized orders worldwide under individual customer contracts. This separate process demands time and labor costs separately from the regular supply chain management. Simchi Levi, Kaminsky, and Simchi Levi (2008) describes that if each unit of the supply chain performs specialized skills and applies learning curve process, workers can develop expertise and efficiency for mass production. Because each process of the supply chain manages these modules with more efficiency each time, fans can be assembled separately in order to customize products according to customer s requirements. This differentiation in the product also involves efficiency and low cost in all the processes. Riordan Manufacturing can use their Pontiac, Michigan plant for final customization details on the product with the only purpose to delivery in less time to big markets like the United States and other America countries. The Michigan plant can receive a semi finished product from China without affecting quality and costs, only for mass customization purposes, in order to generate additional customers with innovative products with competitive advantages. • 8. Nurture Strongly Influences Early Human Development Roshan Akthar Jahir Hussain 200821027 Nurture strongly influences early human development Introduction While nature produces healthy, well formed infants, nurture helps in developing them in the early stages of their lives through practice and experience. It means that the early development of a human is effective and faster by nurture than what comes out of nature. All children go through the same sequences of growth and development in the same order right from their mother s womb, be it the development of parts of the body and the development of organs, motor development after birth, development of speech, etc.. Nature leads to ordinary development of a fetus into a human but it cannot develop an infant into a healthy minded or ... So, it can be clearly noted from above that a fetus can be completely organized and well developed only when given quality nurturing. Influence of genetics and environment on the motor development of a child after birth All children go through the same sequence of motor behaviors in the same order but they go through the sequence at different rates. It is because those children who are not given attention or taken good of (nurtured) are seen to develop in a slower rate than those who are given quality nurture. Even if a child is born physically challenged, he/she can be trained or given physiotherapy treatment to improve him/her to at least take care of their own selves. This clearly illustrates that practice and experience makes a child to learn things faster and in a much better way than those children who are left unnoticed. Genetic and environmental influence on a child s development of speech All human infants learn to speak in the course of normal development, but not until they have attained a certain level of neurological development. It is applicable for both, children who are given as well as children who are given quality nurture. As we already discussed on the motor development of a child after birth, even here, in the case of development of speech of a child, the fact is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Animal Imagery In Timothy Findley s The Wars Essay Animal Imagery In Timothy Findley s The Wars Works Cited Missing The abundant animal imagery in Timothy Findley s book The Wars is used to develop characterization and theme. The protagonist, Robert Ross, has a deep connection with animals that reflects his personality and the situations that he faces. This link between Robert and the animals shows the reader that human nature is not much different than animal nature. The animals in this story are closely related to the characters, especially the character of Robert. Rodwell acknowledges Robert s close union with animals when he draws Robert in his sketchbook as the only human form among sketches of animals (155). He shoots it once, but the horse is still alive and its mane is described as a tangle of rattlesnakes (68). The snakes symbolize the feelings of immorality that are welling up inside of Robert. He knows that killing an animal is against his moral values, but his role in the army is more important to him. He feels that he has to show his nerve and ability as an officer (66). Robert finally shoots the horse behind its ear and kills it. This is the first time he intentionally kills a living creature in the story. Robert s ethics return to him and take priority over military obedience when he tries to rescue horses from the cruelties of war. Robert disobeys Captain Leather s orders and tries to free the horses from the barn that is threatened by falling shells. Unfortunately, the horses die before he can save them all and Robert is filled with anger, shooting Captain Leather between the eyes for causing their death. From this moment on, he rebels against anyone who does not respect his love for animals. This rebellion continues when he barricades himself in a barn with the horses and shouts, [w]e shall not be taken (212). It is Robert s strong connection with the horses that leads to his downfall, because the we implies to Major Mickle that Robert has an accomplice, and for that reason an attack is ordered. The movie has the viewers infer the gore and deaths of some of the characters. State Judicial Structures Assessing the Impact of State Judicial Structures on Citizens Litigiousness by Jeff Yates, Holley Tankersley, and Paul Brace describes the structure of the state judicial courts with its dependence on certain internal and external principles that will influence the overall participation of individual s litigation cases. The authors main question explores the role that state legal institutions played in explaining state variation in legal mobilization. (Yates, Tankersley, Brace, 2010, 796) The authors postulate this question because they believe that differences in the elemental structure of the judicial system affect the degree to which citizens involve the legal system for redress. I find it rather eye opening that if a judge were to run either as a partisan or a nonpartisan judge that he or she will receive almost the same amount of attention on them. In the other statements, I found myself reasonably agreeing with most of them. Elected judges similar to elected politicians will try to hold their bastion of support by honoring their voter intention and vote subtly along partisan lines as a form of certainty. In contrast, appointed judges bring more uncertainty and more chances of change in society given their lack of an ideological background. Results include IT application needs changes in organizational and management structure as well as organizations are required to go through necessary transformation to compete globally. That findings lead to the MIT90S framework. Another study looked at the IT s responsiveness to business strategy creation (Tan, 1995). Firstly, the company develop a business strategy. Secondly, the company choose an appropriate structure. Thirdly, the firm design the management process. Finally, there is a need to align Information Technology (IT) with the business strategy. IT here is treated as a back office support (Allen Morton, 1994). In addition, employees will be trained and their functions are designed specifically. As a result, the most important issue in this model is to determine the strategic vision and to handle the problems of implementation. According to figure2, in contrast, in the MIT strategic model of change and fit, an emergent perspective , the components are more interrelated. The strategic fit attempts to align the organization with its external environment and to manage the internal resources to meet that alignment (Miyamoto, Kudo and Iizuka, 2014). In terms of strategic change, the business strategy is being shaped gradually and is an outcome instead of a driver. In terms of IT, IT becomes an integrated part of a firm s key business process. • 13. Bodybuilding And Its Effect On The Body Bodybuilding has been around for centuries, it began as a Greek idea to transform the body. The exact definition of bodybuilding is the practice of strengthening and enlarging the muscles of the body through exercises. Greeks would primarily use large stones of different weight to gain muscular enhancement. Though their techniques seem incompetent compared to the training of modern day bodybuilders it is not all that different. The stones substituted for modern weights and as a result they were still able to accomplish impressive body transformations. The first person to be recognized for modern day bodybuilding Eugene Sandow, he would let the masses view his muscular figure in awe as he flexed on stage for the crowds. Though he was not being compared to other bodybuilders on stage like present day bodybuilders would be, he was the first person to use his physic strictly for aesthetic and viewing purposes. Most large muscular men at the time used their bodies for wrestling or strength performance. Eugene became so popular he later patented his own exercise equipment for the public. These workout devices included tension bands, machine dumbbells, and spring pulleys. In 1904 the first large scale bodybuilding competition took place in New York City at the Madison Square Garden. The winner was Al Treloar, he was declared the most perfectly developed man in the world. He was given a one thousand dollar cash prize which was a substantial amount of money at the time. • 21. Human Ghosting Essay Existing conceptual frameworks to understand person in cyber environment A historical analysis of the theories of technology suggests that there is a broader demarcation of these theories anti humanism, humanism, and post humanism (Pelt, 2002, 307). The anti humanist approach has portrayed technology as a driving force and generally sees human beings and their environments from the lens of technological determinism. Falling in line with social constructionism, the humanists approach depicts human beings as the main actors in order to give importance to the agency. The post humanistic approach considers humans, technology, other species, and any other organic agents of the environment as actors. In this model, humans are not at the top nor do they come first horizontally on any axis of human existence. Post humanists recognize the importance of agency but they bequeathed its importance to other organic parts of the human existence such as non human objects and recognized them as actors. In this schema of analysis, human ghosting falls in the post humanist category.
