Eniac Research Paper
History or Social Computing Essay
The ENIAC was the first computer to ever work successfully. ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical
Integrator and Computer but for now we will call it ENIAC. The ENIAC s design and construction
was funded by the United States Army and the total cost was around $487,000. The basic machine
cycle was 200 microseconds or 5,000 cycles per second for operations on the 10 digit numbers. In one
of these cycles, ENIAC could write a number to a register, read a number from a register, or
add/subtract two numbers, several tubes burned out almost every day, leaving it nonfunctional about
half the time. Special high reliability tubes were not available until 1948. Most of these failures
occurred during the warm up and cool down periods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, instead of the stored program computers that exist today, ENIAC was just a large collection
of arithmetic machines, which had programs hard coded into the machines with function tables that
each contained 1200 ten way switches. A number of improvements were made to ENIAC after 1948,
including a primitive read only stored programming mechanism using the Function Tables as program
ROM. Early in 1952, a high speed shifter was added, which improved the speed for shifting by a
factor of five. In July 1953, a 100 word expansion core memory was added to the system, using binary
coded decimal, excess 3 number representation. To support this expansion memory, ENIAC was
equipped with a new Function Table selector, a memory address selector, pulse shaping circuits, and
three new orders were added to the programming

Title: Types of Horse Racing
Description: Knowing the types of horse racing is instrumental for first time bettors who want to grasp
the ins and outs of the popular wagering activity.
Keyword: South African football
First time bettors would think that all horse races are the same. However, horse racing is a varied sport
once you see the bigger picture. It goes back hundreds of years and it has developed significantly
throughout its course in time. These days, racing takes place in a multitude of formats with a
collection of newly established rules and regulations. You don t need to follow each and every rule to
get involved, but getting a decent grasp should give you a head start.
Flat racing and jump racing are two of the most common horse racing events, and it s these that
continue to draw the attention of bettors. You should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turf is the conventional surface which most South African football fields employ but dirt tracks are
also sought after locations. Synthetic surfaces are used at a number of race courses as well,
particularly in the UK, which is also known as all weather tracks.
Jump Racing
Jump racing is another form that mostly caters to Thoroughbred horses, and is considerably more
hazardous that flat racing due to the company of obstacles that horses has to leap over. These obstacles
mostly include hurdles, fences, or ditches. The increased risks have led to it being banned in some
countries like Australia. It is still a popular form of race in Europe and the US, where it is recognized
as steeplechasing.
In the UK and Ireland, it s known as National Hunt racing and there are two codes hurdles and
steeplechases. In hurdles, the obstacles are required to be over three and a half foot high and a race
must be held over a two mile course. Meanwhile, in steeplechases, a selection of obstacles can be
included, such as fences, open ditches, or water

Analysis Of Covers The Ground By Gary Snyder
Title
To people foreign to California, the state is boxed into a set of stereotypical characteristics. The
Golden State has received labels such as surf nation, and liberal land. But to those who ve gotten a
chance to live within this great state appreciate the opportunities and ambitions that come with living
in California. Furthermore, what truly differentiates California from any other place in the world is the
consistent paradoxical environment. This notion is best epitomized by the city of Sacramento and the
cultural, economic and social change that the city has undergone. Gary Snyder communicates this
theme through building around John Muir s ideologies in his work of Covers The Ground. Snyder s
work exemplifies the contradiction between nature and innovation. It presents the paradoxical state
individuals around the world face on whether to accept the innovation and accept the benefits that
come with it, or stay true to the roots of nature and the history that accompanies it. This dilemma boils
down to whether we as a race embrace the progression of time and the paradoxes that follow, or we
find solace in our current state.
The inception of Covers The Ground, begins with establishing the setting of the city of Sacramento.
Understanding the natural beauty of the city is best conveyed by establish vivid imagery and Snyder
accomplishes this by describing the blossoming almond orchard acres. As the image of nature sparks
into the reader s head, Gary Snyder is

Technological Innovations and Banking in Ghana: An Evaluation of Customers Perceptions
JOSHUAABOR
University of Ghana, Legon
Abstract In Sub Saharan Africa, developments in information and communication technology are
radically changing the way business is done. These developments in technology have resulted in new
delivery channels for banking products and services such as Automated Teller Machines (ATMs),
Telephone Banking, PC Banking, and Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale (EFTPoS). This study
evaluates the perceptions of banking customers regarding the effect of technological innovations on

Section 4 presents the methodology employed for the analysis. Section 5 discusses the results and
finally section 6 summarizes and concludes the discussion. 2.0 Technological History of Ghanaian
Banks
Over time, technology has increased in importance in Ghanaian banks. Traditionally, banks have
always sought media through which they would serve their clients more cost effectively as well as
increase the utility to their clientele. Their main concern has been to serve clients more conveniently,
and in the process increase profits and competitiveness. Electronic and communications technologies
have been used extensively in banking for many years to advance agenda of banks
In Ghana, the earliest forms of electronic and communications technologies used were mainly office
automation devices. Telephones, telex and facsimile were employed to speed up and make more
efficient, the process of servicing clients. For decades, they remained the main information and
communication technologies used for transacting bank business.
Later in the 1980s, as competition intensified and the personal computer (PC) got proletarian,
Ghanaian banks begun to use them in back office operations and later tellers used them to service
clients. Advancements in computer technology saw the banks networking their branches and
operations thereby making the one branch philosophy a reality. Barclays Bank (Gh.) and Standard

The Impact Of Modern Television On Contemporary Culture Essay
Recent and historical events throughout television history have demanded a redefinition of the
medium in contemporary culture. Throughout its history television has predominantly relied upon
industry practices established early in the 1960s, however, the turn of the century has produced such
divergence from these practices that some scholars are defining it as an entirely new era of television.
Lotz, for example, employs the term post network , an indication of televisions separation from earlier
dominant network practices (9). For the most part, Lotz and scholars alike agree that this transition has
stemmed from changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, as
well new introductions to the industry such as the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will agree
with these scholars, arguing that significant changes to the Western television industry has resulted in
a new, distinctive era of television culture.
First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television
development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post
network era (7). Each developing upon the last, the industrial changes which occurred in the earlier
eras had direct effects on the formation of the current post network era.
The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid 1980s, governed industry
operations and created a television experience

Introduction
A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person. You earn reputation by trying to do hard
things well. Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com
Brands are the visual representation of a company, its culture, its people, products and vision. All
these put together embody and give life to the brand, assigning and defining certain traits and values
to be associated with it. Branding is the representation of those values as conveyed to the universe,
whether to its customers, stakeholders or the world at large.
Origin Of Brands
Brands originated in the Medieval Ages, when craftsmen and tradesmen left their mark on the goods
they sold. Brand marks were made on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brighter colors are uplifting and fun inspiring, while darker colors are sober. E.g. Coke s red and white
as compared to IBM s blue logo. [pic][pic] B) Symbols: A symbol or logo is a visual representation of
the company, product/service, and the values it represent. E.g. The Michelin Man represents the extra
rubber on their tires, and the multi colored Apple logo represents creativity. [pic][pic] C) Words: The
name used can represent certain qualities related to the product or service it represents. E.g. Pizza Hut,
Ivory Soap, Head Shoulders shampoo, and so on.
All these elements come together to make a brand.
The brand has a number of facets, which help flesh out the brand and separate it from others. A) Brand
Identity: The individual elements that come together to separate a brand from all others are known as
the brand identity of a product. The visual elements such as color, size, verbal elements such as name
and even sound elements go into making up the brand identity, e.g. Nokia s signature ringtone. The
brand identity therefore is the noticeable elements of a brand which identify it to its target audience.
B) Brand Personality: The Brand Personality is the attribution of certain behavioral traits such as
honesty, youth, and intellectualism and so on. These characteristics signify behavior of the brand
through the individuals representing it employees and brand

Love Presented in Poems by Wilfred Owen Essay
Love Presented in Poems by Wilfred Owen Explore how the theme of love is presented in Birdsong
and a selection of poems by Wilfred Owen. Loving attitudes, though perhaps not as prominent as
themes such as violence and pride, are intimately observed and explored in Sebastian Faulks Birdsong
and in many of Wilfred Owen s War poems. Each aspect of love, as seen through the eyes of this First
World War soldier and Faulks characters, is as interesting as it is diverse, allowing an impervious
insight into the psychological effects that the War had on these men. Such a formidable event as war
has a devastating effect on all parties involved. In total, the First World War saw the deaths of 420,000

In this poem Owen s use of strong diction and vivid figurative language such as; In all my dreams,
before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning , provides an indication of
the horror endured by these soldiers, and also emphasises the ironic anti war message that he is trying
to convey: How sweet and fitting it is to die for one s country. This message was exactly the kind of
patriotic love promoted by Jessie Pope and other pro war poets of the time. The central conflict of the
poem is the futility of war and the dehumanisation of men. Stanza one is written in the past tense, and
is laced with metaphors and similes, such as: like old beggars under sacks , Men marched asleep and
Drunk with fatigue . Its slow pace and encumbering images lead to a melancholic air, evoking feelings
of a loss of faith towards God, one s country and human kind as a species. Stanza two moves a lot
faster, bringing the hellish imagery to life; through the misty panes and thick green light, as under a
green sea, I saw him drowning. Its fast pace and graceless, clumsy tone works well to emphasise the
speed in which these men were forced to move from half dead to ready to save themselves from a
grim and frightening death, and it s focus on just one man in stanza three makes the poem as an
exploration of human endurance seem much more personal and realistic. The love and patriotism
promoted by the government and believed by

Richard Wagner and Opera Essay
Richard Wagner and Opera
One of the key figures in the history of opera, Wagner was largely responsible for altering its
orientation in the nineteenth century. His program of artistic reform accelerated the trend towards
organically conceived, through composed structures, as well as influencing the development of the
orchestra, of a new breed of singer, and of various aspects of theatrical practice. As the most
influential composer during the second half of the nineteenth century, Richard Wagner s conception of
music remains very much with us even a century after his death. He was a remarkable innovator both
in harmony and the structure of his work, creating his own version of the Gesamtkunstwerk, dramatic

For Wagner, the function of music was to serve the ends of dramatic expression, and all of his most
important compositions were composed for the theater. Particularly in Tannhauser, Wagner brilliantly
adapted the substance of the German Romantic libretto to the framework of grand opera. The music
evoked the opposite worlds of sin and blessedness with great emotional fervor and a luxuriant
harmony and color. The Pilgrim s Chorus from this opera contains what is perhaps Wagner s most
popular and widely known melody. Fatefully, despite his musical successes, things took a bad turn for
Wagner when, in 1848, he was caught up in political revolution, and the next year he fled to Weimar
where Franz Liszt helped him. Later he fled to Switzerland and France. Lohengrin was first performed
under the direction of Franz Liszt at Weimar in 1850, and it is the last of Wagner s works that he ever
referred to as an opera. Lohengrin embodies several changes prophetic of the Music Dramas that were
to follow it. The story comes from medieval legend, but Wagner s treatment is generalized and
symbolic. The technique of recurring themes was further developed, particularly with respect to the
motives associated with Lohengrin and the Grail. Using Weber s Der Freischütz as a model to a
certain extent, Wagner used tonality with his characters to help organize both the drama and the

I ve listened to a lot of music in my 514,561,058 seconds of life.
Of course the beginning first few years of my life did not consistent of heavy articulation and rhythm
interpretation, rather it was to see if I could sing back the ABC s or mumble the Arthur theme song to
my sister.
Most of the music influence I have was harvested back when I was eleven. I listened to a wide variety
of genres of music from pop, to rock, to rap, to country, to concert band music, even to Bollywood

I learned the correlation between blowing into an instrument and the sounds that come out.
This really changed my perception about music. I found myself enjoying the classical music that I
would be playing on my clarinet, but I always kept it in correlation with the new sounds and
technology music was sounding like. The new electronic based sounds created on the computer with
the melodies and movement like a classical piece set that a part for me. I think this was generated by
sounds from Kanye West and his albums such as Graduation, and 808s Heartbreaks, even the blending
of genres from Coldplay between pop tunes and classical music using implications such as organs,

So what I ended up learning and continue to learn is I that like music really no matter what condition
it comes in. The examination of the work that takes place behind it demonstrates more than what
someone on the internet can tell me about how bad an album is or how weak the lyrics are. Of course

Symbolism In The Mending Wall By Robert Frost
What Is The Mending Wall ? Robert Frost s poem Mending Wall is a poem that was written without
proper form and has no stanzas/rhyme to it; this was done purposely by the author to make the writing
sound more conversational and look more like a common story that a reader can simply apply to
his/her own life circumstances. The poem presents readers with two neighbors and their efforts at
reconstructing a stone wall separating their property every year. Frost uses metaphoric symbolism in
this poem as the wall is used as a metaphor to portray the idea of a barrier between people and the
repairing of the wall as resolving obstacles and bringing people together. Every spring, two very
different men come together to rebuild a wall destroyed by nature and hunters; however, the speaker
begins to think, what is the purpose of this wall if we have no animals to keep away? Why do we
rebuild a wall every year that not even nature wants? The poem begins to compare two lifestyles:
traditional and logical. While the neighbor truly believes good fences make good neighbors , the
speaker argues that respect and kindness do rather than a useless wall. The first part of this poem
announces the presence of wall destroyers. Lines 1 4 of the poem immediately introduce readers to
something there is that doesn t love a wall . Frost announces that every year something is destroying
the wall he and his neighbor build. Readers are made to understand that even nature itself does not like

Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding the

repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a good candidate for an anti
cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in cancer cells, they would be able
to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in
cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth
arrest.
The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the
Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help regulate
the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic development.
Pertaining to Transcription, there are a couple factors typically encoded by the proteins in the
Homeobox gene, within the gene, that bind to and control activities of other genes in the Homeobox
Gene family (http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/geneFamily/homeobox). The formation of limbs, organs and
physiological positioning are influenced by this embryological gene. The HOX gene

How Did King James Impact On English
King James I and IV James Charles Stuart was King of Scotland from 1567 to 1625 and King of
England from 1603 to 1625 (Mathew). James mother, Mary, queen of Scots, was forced to abdicate in
1567, making James the King of Scotland. King James is also known for translating the Bible into
English in 1602, finishing the process in 1611. Since the Bible was translated, it has allowed a larger
variety of people to understand religion. Although King James was not very religious, he was a great
Christian influencer because he translated the Bible into the English language which allowed the
commoners to not only read the Bible, but also have a closer relationship to God. Ironically, King
James was not that religious, but he had a great impact on the Christian people. In addition, James
famously oversaw a new authorized English translation of the Bible, published in 1611, which became
known as the King James Version (Mathew). In 1602, King James began translating the Bible into the
English language, allowing the Christian community to be able to completely understand the Bible.
Above all, One of James s great contributions to England was the Authorised King James s Version of
the bible (1611) which was to become the standard text for more than 250 years ( James I and VI
(1566 1625 ). Ultimately, King James had an immense impact on the Christian society due to the
translation, he also greatly impacted England at the same time. By translating the Bible into English,

Criminological Theory Of Edwin Sutherland s Differential...
I. Introduction: Differential Association Theory is a criminological theory devised by Edwin
Sutherland asserting that criminal behavior is behavior learned through association with others who
communicate their values and attitudes (Walsh, 559).
Summary:
We live in a world that is full of choices and some individuals believe we have a choice that is made
by ourselves regardless of any influences from outside parties. We have the authority to determine
what is right or wrong for our own lives and we should be held accountable for those decisions.
However, one would believe it s safe to say we live in a world that approaches life with a black or
white perception. Meaning decisions in life are either morally right or morally wrong and ... Show

The world is full of self centered and self absorbed individuals. We are in a digital world where selfies
are more common than group photos and working alone for numerous hours are the latest trend. We
are forbidden to ask for assistance from others because one should be able to provide for themselves.
Walters lifestyle theory can be applied to our society today, in terms of crime isn t a behavior one
choices. Society has a pattern that can alter the course of someone s life and decisions leading them
down a path of criminal history full of irresponsible, impulsive and self indulgent behavior.
II. Differential Association Theory Differential Association Theory was created by Edwin Sutherland,
whose primary goal was to create a theory that could explain both individual criminality and collect
crime rates (Walsh, 186). For crime to occur conditions must be available, if not present crime does
not exist (Walsh, 186). In reading 13, it shows that individuals exposed to criminal activity are more
likely to become involved in criminal acts. Many empirical tests have relied on the number of criminal
associates as evidence of interaction with criminal members within an individual s primary group
(Walsh, 217). The reading on page 141 supports Sutherland s idea that behavior is learned. Kody Scott
was recently a graduate from an elementary school in Los Angeles whose sole purpose in life was to
become a part of a gang known as Eight Trey Crips. Many would argue

Analysis Of Lemony Snicket s Series Of Unfortunate Events
Reader Response
I first read Lemony Snicket s Series of Unfortunate Events when I was 10 years old. Having little
patience, I planned to just skim through but found myself immediately immersed in the story and the
writing style. The author uses clever techniques to appeal to both children and older readers, which
allowed me to remain engaged with the text. Snicket warns that, if you are interested in books with
happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book. I found myself attracted to the
gothic elements and darker nature of the text. I found it to be uniquely different to the traditional fairy
tales with a cliché happily ever after . A Series of Unfortunate Events has no typical happily ever after,

As a child, I often felt frustrated that adults would not always take me seriously. I felt empowered by
the idea that perhaps I too was capable of solving my own problems as a self reliant and independent
being.
Snicket is a clever and humorous narrator. He assists the reader with more advanced words, explaining
them in their given context. As a young reader, this was very educational and helpful and allowed me
to further understand and enjoy the series. As an older reader, I came to realise that he did this in a
comedic way. For example, Snicket writes, It is now necessary for me to use the rather hackneyed
phrase meanwhile, back at the ranch. The word hackneyed here means used by so, so many writers
that by the time Lemony Snicket uses it, it is a tiresome cliché. Snicket also introduces children to
important concepts and ideas. He notes, your initial opinion of things may change over time, and the
children knew, as I m sure you know, that the worst surroundings can be tolerated if the people in
them are interesting and kind. He also addressed more serious issues, acting as a moral guide, but
ensured these issues were not too overwhelming by maintaining a sense of humour. He writes, stealing
is not excusable if, for instance, you are in a museum and you decide that a certain painting would
look better in your house... But if you were very very hungry, and you had no way of obtaining
money, it might be excusable to grab the painting, take it

The Scientific Question On War
The Scientific Answer to War
On September 1, 1939, Germany under the control of Adolf Hitler invaded the sovereign nation of
Poland effectively starting the Second World War. By the end of the conflict in 1945 an estimated 64
million had died, more than the population of the United Kingdom (Thomas). The Second World War
saw the end of the German Third Reich, the founding of the United Nations, and the United States and
Russia becoming global superpowers. The Second World War s start is one log debated: a continuation
of World War I that theoretically ended in 1918, Japan seizes Manchuria, Germany s reoccupation of

Most theories offered on the causes of war are done through the lens of historians; however, this essay
uses the perspective of political scientists. The new lens allows for readers to look information in a
new dynamic. Figure I lays out of the steps a hostilities must take to expand into war. Vasquez states
that more than one step from each area is required to bring about combat (Vasquez). Vasquez defines a
world war as:
A large scale severe war among major states that involves the leading states at some point in the war
and most of the major states in a struggle to resolve the most fundamental issues on the global
political agenda (Vasquez).
The Second World War s fundamental issues mostly revolved around territorial disputes. These
disputes over areas such as Poland s Danzig, the Rhineland, Anschluss, and the Sudetenland drove the
start of the war. Overall the essay used the theory to show that World War II followed the pattern of
behavior roughly consistent with other war of its type. The Second World War onset was brought
about military buildups, repeated crises, and expanded through the making of allies. Hitler s foreign
policy and lack of diplomacy were another big reason that the Second World War occurred. The
policies pushed both sides to build up militaries; Germany to have successful invasions and Britain
and France because they felt threatened by Germany s territorial ambitions. Even in 1936, the anti

The Growth Of Emerging Markets
1. Introduction
The last decade has seen an increase in internationalisation from emerging market multinationals
(EMNCs), through outward foreign direct investment (OFDI). This internationalisation phenomenon,
has led to increase interest from researchers in the international business discipline (Cavusgil, 1980;
Hoskisson, Eden, Lau, Wright, 2000; Jormanainen Koveshnikov, 2012). In 2013, emerging economies
invested $553 billion, representing 39% of global OFDI, compared with only 12% at the beginning of
the 2000 (UNCTAD, 2014). These trends are consistent across different emerging market sub regions,
as organisations that are aggressively investing are doing so not only from large emerging economies
like China, India, Brazil, and Russia but also from a number of new emerging economies in Asia,
Latin America and Africa (Gammeltoft, Pradhan, Goldstein, 2010; Goldstein Bonaglia, 2007).
Emerging markets (EM) are seen generally as low income, rapid growth countries using economic
liberalisation as their primary engine of growth (Hoskisson et al., 2000). The economic liberalisation
or open policies adopted by these emerging markets during the last two decades has led organisations
from these economies to internationalize or seek markets abroad. Emerging markets are known to be
heterogeneous in their level of development and environmental surroundings (Bianchi, 2014). Each

Keynes Theory Of Business Cycles Essay
Keynes Theory of Business Cycles
Introduction
A business cycle refers to a phenomenon of alternating periods of expansion and contraction in
economic activity. In many cases such as have been witnessed in free market nations including the
USA and Great Britain, economic growth is characterized by long run upward GNP growth, followed
by large periodic short run fluctuations in economic activity. The economic period associated with
high income, output and unemployment, is also known as upswing expansion or prosperity. The
economic period associated with low income, output and unemployment is also referred to as
downswing, contraction, recession or depression. These economic fluctuations are called trade cycles
because they tend to occur in a recurrent manner (Knoop, 2009, p.39). Although various theories
explain this phenomenon, this essay analyzes Keynes theory of trade cycles and explains how banking
or finance comes into perspective.

The Manifestation of Death in Poetry Essay example
Death is a reality that can be interpreted in many ways. Some people fear the possibility of no longer
living and others welcome the opportunity for a new life in the afterlife. Many poets have been
inspired by death, be it by the approaching death of loved ones or a battle for immortality. Just as each
poet is inspired differently, each poem casts a different hue of light on the topic of death giving readers
a unique way to look at death. In the poem Because I Could Not Stop for Death Emily Dickinson
portrays death as a polite gentleman who ushers people into the afterlife. The poem s opening lines
reveal death to be the driver of a carriage who stopped for the narrator of the poem. The narrator and

Almost as revisiting youth, the carriage passes a school yard where children play, followed by fields
and then finally the poem takes a turn and the narrator tells of the sunset. The poem reflects at this
point that the carriage is moving at a very slow pace or possibly even stopped, saying that they did not
pass the sun, rather he passed us (Dickinson line 13). As the sun sets in the poem, the procession
comes to its end with the carriage coming to a rest at a house. It is in the last two stanzas that the
narrator reveals they are at a grave and it has been many years from the time they died. The narrator
describes the home the carriage stopped by as A Swelling of the Ground (Dickinson line 18) and
further alludes to the fact the roof was just visible within the ground leading the reader to the
realization that the house is actually the grave of the narrator. In the last few lines of the poem the
narrator confesses that the entire poem is a memory of a past experience that happened a long time
ago but feels as if it was recent. The addition of the last two lines, I first surmised the Horses
Heads/Where toward Eternity (Dickinson lines 23 24), add the first and only glimmer of surprise,
leaving the reader with a jarring disconnect from the previous easy going nature of the poem. Like
Dickinson, John Donne shows us a death that is a vehicle to the afterlife in his poem Death Be Not
Proud . However, the narrator in Death Be Not Proud is

John Keats was an English poet, born in 1795. He was one of the well known poets of second

Social Causes Of Youth Homelessness
On this essay, I am going to write about youth homelessness the causes of this phenomenon in this
country, and why it remains an issue very complex to resolve. There are a number of causes for youth
homelessness but we can divide them into two big groups: Causes derived from social policies such as
lack of funding or cuts to housing benefit; and causes derived from personal circumstances, for
example, a family breakdown.
Both renting and owing a home are challenging options for young people for many reasons including
lack of skills and money; that in some occasions translate not having somewhere to stay. On the social
causes for homelessness we find that one of the biggest issues is the shortage of housing, the
parliament estimates the need for additional housing in England at between 232,000 to 300,000 new
units per year, a level not reached since the late 1970s and two to three times current supply. Even
though this does not only affect young people in my opinion young people are one of the most
disadvantaged because the lack of supply makes housing very expensive and under 25 s get paid less
minimum wage so they can t afford to pay a house deposit. Another important social policy cause is
that since April 2017 young people aged 16 21(with some exemptions) will not be entitled to apply for
housing benefit a move made by the government to prevent young people slipping into a life of
benefits (HM treasury 2015). However, this new policy in my point of view just makes the

Questions on Terrorist Activities
Why is there heavier activity in certain areas of the world? Chemical, nuclear, and biological warfare
are now becoming more profound as technology develops. As technology becomes more ubiquitous
across nations, the likelihood of attack becomes more eminent. This is particularly true of Iran who
has been explicit in their desire to destroy the civilized world. As this nation becomes better equipped
to attack the United States, the need for intervention becomes more profound. Terrorism, as indicated
by there attack targets, is predicated on fear. The concept of fear is what drives the profound of often
impactful nature of terrorism. In certain areas of the world, particularly those with high regard for
freedom make ideal terrorist targets. The terrorists, through their actions intend to create a pervasive
culture of fear within their target areas. Concepts of freedom, democracy, and prosperity are often
polar opposites of terrorists. They instead, often intend to enslave, restrict freedom, or impose their
own beliefs on others through fear. Areas of the world that are against these concepts are often targets
for terrorist activity. America, Europe, and Middle Eastern countries seeking freedom or challenging
the status quo are therefore likely targets. Figure 1 in the appendix presents are very short list of
prominent terrorist attacks in recent history. A quick glance at the list reveals that a vast majority of
the target areas are in the countries I mentioned above:

The key point of this research paper is to illustrate that taxes are a major drivers that push MNC to
relocate abroad. I will consult various literature to explain and illustrate my research question.
Subsequently I m going to use the tax home relocation case of FIAT to demonstrate what is happening
nowadays to many Multinational Companies all over the world.
Backgroung
This research focus on the various factors that motivates the different core parts to relocate. (Lewin
and Volberda, 2011) states that moving a core part outside the border creates strategic benefits for the
multinational company, like acquiring a higher and more efficient strategic knowledge by engaging
with people from different context, or it can improve the access to international market or may provide
a lower cost fiscal regime. There are different set of arguments as to why MNCs move business unit
and Corporate Headquarters overseas. If we are to base our research on established theories, we can
easily say that the research is based on international business concerned with the nature and scope of
the MNC. The Predictors of Business Head Quarters relocation (Dunning,1981;Rugman 1981, The
theory of Multinational Corporation) suggests that the locational choices the MNS makes for each
activity is just a comination of needs that will offer more advantages to the firm. (Rugman and

What Does Arnold Shwarzenegger Mean
This is a man of bottomless ambition said George Butler, a very decorated film biographer. Arnold
Schwarzenegger is one of the hardest working American icons I have ever read about. Arnold
overcame adversity in many ways to become one of the most know people in America and all over the
world. He started with nothing except his mother as his only positive motivation in his early years.
Arnold wasn t going to stop until he was the best at everything he wanted to be. Acting was his big
ticket to fame. What really help him though in his other aspects of life was his bodybuilding. For me
life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but move
ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer these are words Arnold said himself and lived by. He was
going to be the best he could be if it killed him trying. Arnold s early years are what I think gives him
his rights to be a True American Icon. He did not have much as kid. He was the younger of two kids
and his dad would regularly beat him because he was the least athletic of the two. The brothers would
fight all the time, the only relationship he had with his family was his mother who taught him how to
be the best he could be. She gave him the discipline to be the he needed to be a bodybuilder. His father
disapproval and beating was his motivation. No one wants to be the little guy. He started body when
he was fifteen. Won Mr.Universe when he was twenty years old and won Mr. Olympia when he was

Exercise As A Healthy Lifestyle
Dear Karen, I am addressing you about your interest in exercise as a supplemental component in
leading a healthy lifestyle. Based on the results of your medical evaluations, I believe an exercise
prescription is a viable option to help you reach your health and general fitness goals. I am excited for
the opportunity to work with you and think you have made an excellent choice to pursue exercise as a
treatment option. I like to stress with my clients that, although the goal is to get you exercising on your
own, I am here to teach and support you so that you are comfortable and confident that you are
making decisions that will impact your health in a positive way. Although my services are science
based and effective, it is crucial that you do not use them as a replacement for general medical care
from your physician. Exercise is a significant component to health in many ways. In the United States,
the leading causes of premature death are primarily diseases of the heart and circulatory systems.
Diseases of utmost significance are coronary artery disease, stroke, type II diabetes, and cancer. More
and more evidence suggests that the increase in deaths with each of these conditions is correlated with
a decrease in the amount of exercise performed by the general population. The good news is that you
have taken the first step toward reversing this trend and I can help you achieve success. Vast amounts
of research suggest exercise can help mitigate your risk for cardiovascular

Hosea Essay
Hosea
THEME: There is nothing we can do which will separate us from God s compassion and love
I certify that I am the author of this work and that any assistance I received in its preparation is fully
acknowledged.
PART I
The book Hosea was written between 790 and 710 BC by the prophet Hosea.
The story is about the relationship between Hosea and his wife, Gomer, and how their lives parallel
that of the northern kingdom of Israel. There are several themes in the book of Hosea and I will
discuss what I think to be the main one, there is absolutely nothing we can do which will separate us
from God s love and compassion . While the northern kingdom prospers monetarily its morals and
spiritual condition is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The LORD tells Hosea to love his wife again so he buys her back from a slave market and tells her she
must live with and be faithful to him. The LORD is extremely distressed by Israel s lack of love and
acknowledgment of His existence. He describes how they have reverted to lying, cheating , stealing,
murder, etc. and further fail to follow his word. The priests during this time are not to be let off lightly.
God tells how the priests have not spread His message, but rather they ve fed off the Israelites sins.
God tells how he s going to punish the people of Israel, for their sins, and the priests, for their lack of
concern. He closes by saying he will go to his place and not recognize the peoples of Israel until they
earnestly seek him out.
In chapter 11 God capsulizes Israel s sins and his judgment against the people. He describes how he
chose the Israelites as His people and how he delivered them from slavery in Egypt. During this
dissertation he has a change of heart and decides he will not destroy the nation Israel even if they turn
from Him. He decides he will force Israel to repent by less destructive means.
In chapter 12 Hosea preaches the Lord s message to the Israelites. He starts by describing Israel s sins
against God and how the

  • 2. Eniac Research Paper History or Social Computing Essay The ENIAC was the first computer to ever work successfully. ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer but for now we will call it ENIAC. The ENIAC s design and construction was funded by the United States Army and the total cost was around $487,000. The basic machine cycle was 200 microseconds or 5,000 cycles per second for operations on the 10 digit numbers. In one of these cycles, ENIAC could write a number to a register, read a number from a register, or add/subtract two numbers, several tubes burned out almost every day, leaving it nonfunctional about half the time. Special high reliability tubes were not available until 1948. Most of these failures occurred during the warm up and cool down periods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, instead of the stored program computers that exist today, ENIAC was just a large collection of arithmetic machines, which had programs hard coded into the machines with function tables that each contained 1200 ten way switches. A number of improvements were made to ENIAC after 1948, including a primitive read only stored programming mechanism using the Function Tables as program ROM. Early in 1952, a high speed shifter was added, which improved the speed for shifting by a factor of five. In July 1953, a 100 word expansion core memory was added to the system, using binary coded decimal, excess 3 number representation. To support this expansion memory, ENIAC was equipped with a new Function Table selector, a memory address selector, pulse shaping circuits, and three new orders were added to the programming ... • 4. Analysis Of Covers The Ground By Gary Snyder Title To people foreign to California, the state is boxed into a set of stereotypical characteristics. The Golden State has received labels such as surf nation, and liberal land. But to those who ve gotten a chance to live within this great state appreciate the opportunities and ambitions that come with living in California. Furthermore, what truly differentiates California from any other place in the world is the consistent paradoxical environment. This notion is best epitomized by the city of Sacramento and the cultural, economic and social change that the city has undergone. Gary Snyder communicates this theme through building around John Muir s ideologies in his work of Covers The Ground. Snyder s work exemplifies the contradiction between nature and innovation. It presents the paradoxical state individuals around the world face on whether to accept the innovation and accept the benefits that come with it, or stay true to the roots of nature and the history that accompanies it. This dilemma boils down to whether we as a race embrace the progression of time and the paradoxes that follow, or we find solace in our current state. The inception of Covers The Ground, begins with establishing the setting of the city of Sacramento. Understanding the natural beauty of the city is best conveyed by establish vivid imagery and Snyder accomplishes this by describing the blossoming almond orchard acres. • 8. The Impact Of Modern Television On Contemporary Culture Essay Recent and historical events throughout television history have demanded a redefinition of the medium in contemporary culture. Throughout its history television has predominantly relied upon industry practices established early in the 1960s, however, the turn of the century has produced such divergence from these practices that some scholars are defining it as an entirely new era of television. Lotz, for example, employs the term post network , an indication of televisions separation from earlier dominant network practices (9). For the most part, Lotz and scholars alike agree that this transition has stemmed from changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, as well new introductions to the industry such as the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will agree with these scholars, arguing that significant changes to the Western television industry has resulted in a new, distinctive era of television culture. First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post network era (7). Each developing upon the last, the industrial changes which occurred in the earlier eras had direct effects on the formation of the current post network era. The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid 1980s, governed industry operations and created a television experience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Loving attitudes, though perhaps not as prominent as themes such as violence and pride, are intimately observed and explored in Sebastian Faulks Birdsong and in many of Wilfred Owen s War poems. Each aspect of love, as seen through the eyes of this First World War soldier and Faulks characters, is as interesting as it is diverse, allowing an impervious insight into the psychological effects that the War had on these men. This message was exactly the kind of patriotic love promoted by Jessie Pope and other pro war poets of the time. The central conflict of the poem is the futility of war and the dehumanisation of men. Stanza one is written in the past tense, and is laced with metaphors and similes, such as: like old beggars under sacks , Men marched asleep and Drunk with fatigue . Its slow pace and encumbering images lead to a melancholic air, evoking feelings of a loss of faith towards God, one s country and human kind as a species. Stanza two moves a lot faster, bringing the hellish imagery to life; through the misty panes and thick green light, as under a green sea, I saw him drowning. Its fast pace and graceless, clumsy tone works well to emphasise the speed in which these men were forced to move from half dead to ready to save themselves from a grim and frightening death, and it s focus on just one man in stanza three makes the poem as an exploration of human endurance seem much more personal and realistic. For Wagner, the function of music was to serve the ends of dramatic expression, and all of his most important compositions were composed for the theater. Particularly in Tannhauser, Wagner brilliantly adapted the substance of the German Romantic libretto to the framework of grand opera. The music evoked the opposite worlds of sin and blessedness with great emotional fervor and a luxuriant harmony and color. The Pilgrim s Chorus from this opera contains what is perhaps Wagner s most popular and widely known melody. Fatefully, despite his musical successes, things took a bad turn for Wagner when, in 1848, he was caught up in political revolution, and the next year he fled to Weimar where Franz Liszt helped him. Later he fled to Switzerland and France. Lohengrin was first performed under the direction of Franz Liszt at Weimar in 1850, and it is the last of Wagner s works that he ever referred to as an opera. Lohengrin embodies several changes prophetic of the Music Dramas that were to follow it. The story comes from medieval legend, but Wagner s treatment is generalized and symbolic. The technique of recurring themes was further developed, particularly with respect to the motives associated with Lohengrin and the Grail. • 19. Symbolism In The Mending Wall By Robert Frost What Is The Mending Wall ? Robert Frost s poem Mending Wall is a poem that was written without proper form and has no stanzas/rhyme to it; this was done purposely by the author to make the writing sound more conversational and look more like a common story that a reader can simply apply to his/her own life circumstances. The poem presents readers with two neighbors and their efforts at reconstructing a stone wall separating their property every year. Frost uses metaphoric symbolism in this poem as the wall is used as a metaphor to portray the idea of a barrier between people and the repairing of the wall as resolving obstacles and bringing people together. Every spring, two very different men come together to rebuild a wall destroyed by nature and hunters; however, the speaker begins to think, what is the purpose of this wall if we have no animals to keep away? Why do we rebuild a wall every year that not even nature wants? The poem begins to compare two lifestyles: traditional and logical. While the neighbor truly believes good fences make good neighbors , the speaker argues that respect and kindness do rather than a useless wall. The first part of this poem announces the presence of wall destroyers. Lines 1 4 of the poem immediately introduce readers to something there is that doesn t love a wall . Frost announces that every year something is destroying the wall he and his neighbor build. Readers are made to understand that even nature itself does not like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Having little patience, I planned to just skim through but found myself immediately immersed in the story and the writing style. The author uses clever techniques to appeal to both children and older readers, which allowed me to remain engaged with the text. Snicket warns that, if you are interested in books with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book. I found myself attracted to the gothic elements and darker nature of the text. He assists the reader with more advanced words, explaining them in their given context. As a young reader, this was very educational and helpful and allowed me to further understand and enjoy the series. As an older reader, I came to realise that he did this in a comedic way. For example, Snicket writes, It is now necessary for me to use the rather hackneyed phrase meanwhile, back at the ranch. The word hackneyed here means used by so, so many writers that by the time Lemony Snicket uses it, it is a tiresome cliché. Snicket also introduces children to important concepts and ideas. He notes, your initial opinion of things may change over time, and the children knew, as I m sure you know, that the worst surroundings can be tolerated if the people in them are interesting and kind. He also addressed more serious issues, acting as a moral guide, but ensured these issues were not too overwhelming by maintaining a sense of humour. The Scientific Question On War The Scientific Answer to War On September 1, 1939, Germany under the control of Adolf Hitler invaded the sovereign nation of Poland effectively starting the Second World War. The new lens allows for readers to look information in a new dynamic. Figure I lays out of the steps a hostilities must take to expand into war. Vasquez states that more than one step from each area is required to bring about combat (Vasquez). Vasquez defines a world war as: A large scale severe war among major states that involves the leading states at some point in the war and most of the major states in a struggle to resolve the most fundamental issues on the global political agenda (Vasquez). The Second World War s fundamental issues mostly revolved around territorial disputes. These disputes over areas such as Poland s Danzig, the Rhineland, Anschluss, and the Sudetenland drove the start of the war. Overall the essay used the theory to show that World War II followed the pattern of behavior roughly consistent with other war of its type. The Second World War onset was brought about military buildups, repeated crises, and expanded through the making of allies. Hitler s foreign policy and lack of diplomacy were another big reason that the Second World War occurred. The policies pushed both sides to build up militaries; Germany to have successful invasions and Britain and France because they felt threatened by Germany s territorial ambitions. Introduction The last decade has seen an increase in internationalisation from emerging market multinationals (EMNCs), through outward foreign direct investment (OFDI). This internationalisation phenomenon, has led to increase interest from researchers in the international business discipline (Cavusgil, 1980; Hoskisson, Eden, Lau, Wright, 2000; Jormanainen Koveshnikov, 2012). In 2013, emerging economies invested $553 billion, representing 39% of global OFDI, compared with only 12% at the beginning of the 2000 (UNCTAD, 2014). These trends are consistent across different emerging market sub regions, as organisations that are aggressively investing are doing so not only from large emerging economies like China, India, Brazil, and Russia but also from a number of new emerging economies in Asia, Latin America and Africa (Gammeltoft, Pradhan, Goldstein, 2010; Goldstein Bonaglia, 2007). Emerging markets (EM) are seen generally as low income, rapid growth countries using economic liberalisation as their primary engine of growth (Hoskisson et al., 2000). The economic liberalisation or open policies adopted by these emerging markets during the last two decades has led organisations from these economies to internationalize or seek markets abroad. • 32. Keynes Theory Of Business Cycles Essay Keynes Theory of Business Cycles Introduction A business cycle refers to a phenomenon of alternating periods of expansion and contraction in economic activity. In many cases such as have been witnessed in free market nations including the USA and Great Britain, economic growth is characterized by long run upward GNP growth, followed by large periodic short run fluctuations in economic activity. The economic period associated with high income, output and unemployment, is also known as upswing expansion or prosperity. The economic period associated with low income, output and unemployment is also referred to as downswing, contraction, recession or depression. These economic fluctuations are called trade cycles because they tend to occur in a recurrent manner (Knoop, 2009, p.39). Although various theories explain this phenomenon, this essay analyzes Keynes theory of trade cycles and explains how banking or finance comes into perspective. • 34. The Manifestation of Death in Poetry Essay example Death is a reality that can be interpreted in many ways. Some people fear the possibility of no longer living and others welcome the opportunity for a new life in the afterlife. Many poets have been inspired by death, be it by the approaching death of loved ones or a battle for immortality. Just as each poet is inspired differently, each poem casts a different hue of light on the topic of death giving readers a unique way to look at death. In the poem Because I Could Not Stop for Death Emily Dickinson portrays death as a polite gentleman who ushers people into the afterlife. The poem reflects at this point that the carriage is moving at a very slow pace or possibly even stopped, saying that they did not pass the sun, rather he passed us (Dickinson line 13). As the sun sets in the poem, the procession comes to its end with the carriage coming to a rest at a house. It is in the last two stanzas that the narrator reveals they are at a grave and it has been many years from the time they died. The narrator describes the home the carriage stopped by as A Swelling of the Ground (Dickinson line 18) and further alludes to the fact the roof was just visible within the ground leading the reader to the realization that the house is actually the grave of the narrator. In the last few lines of the poem the narrator confesses that the entire poem is a memory of a past experience that happened a long time ago but feels as if it was recent. The addition of the last two lines, I first surmised the Horses Heads/Where toward Eternity (Dickinson lines 23 24), add the first and only glimmer of surprise, leaving the reader with a jarring disconnect from the previous easy going nature of the poem. • 38. Social Causes Of Youth Homelessness On this essay, I am going to write about youth homelessness the causes of this phenomenon in this country, and why it remains an issue very complex to resolve. There are a number of causes for youth homelessness but we can divide them into two big groups: Causes derived from social policies such as lack of funding or cuts to housing benefit; and causes derived from personal circumstances, for example, a family breakdown. Both renting and owing a home are challenging options for young people for many reasons including lack of skills and money; that in some occasions translate not having somewhere to stay. On the social causes for homelessness we find that one of the biggest issues is the shortage of housing, the parliament estimates the need for additional housing in England at between 232,000 to 300,000 new units per year, a level not reached since the late 1970s and two to three times current supply. Even though this does not only affect young people in my opinion young people are one of the most disadvantaged because the lack of supply makes housing very expensive and under 25 s get paid less minimum wage so they can t afford to pay a house deposit. Another important social policy cause is that since April 2017 young people aged 16 21(with some exemptions) will not be entitled to apply for housing benefit a move made by the government to prevent young people slipping into a life of benefits (HM treasury 2015).
