Social Impact Of Industrialization In Germany

HST 102
Paper 1: Industrialization in Germany and its Social Impact
The industrialization of cities, such as Berlin, greatly increased the price of living for the working
class. Because of this, children who were a cheap source of labor, were often times expected to work
daily for meager earnings. This process is exhibited in the engraving titled Orphan Girls and Boys in a
Welfare Institution. The images are set in Germany in 1846 and display orphaned girls working in a
sewing factory and boys working in a textile factory. This depiction of boys and girls speaks volumes
about gender roles when it comes to social standing and job opportunities. In addition, these images
show a very idealized version of child labor and industrialization and argue that children should be a
source of cheap labor to reduce the cost of production and be separated based on sex. Many other
sources such as Dronke s Excerpts from Berlin and The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and
Friedrich Engels juxtapose this interpretation. The conflicting viewpoints of industrialization and
gender roles will hence be analyzed in relation to the engraving and child labor in Germany in the
1800s.
The industrial revolution began in England in the 1770s and expanded to areas in Prussia and
Bohemia by the 1840s. The scope of industrialization was huge and forever changed the landscape of
modern society by increasing production, national wealth, and technological advancement. However,
it also resulted

The second factor is school, my teachers always told me about how amazing engineers are, and how
did they help building with other scientists our modern world, until I reached high school when I first
studied physics as a single subject. My physics teacher was the most to affect me by teaching me
about engines and they work and planting the love of mechanics and engineering into my soul which
kept growing with me as I grew older. Thirdly, since I was a kid I have loved mechanics and engines
and kept always trying to fix my toy cars, thinking about how they were made, and wanting to drive so
badly. Therefore, when was a teenager, I kept asking my older brother to teach me how to drive.
Fortunately, my older brother wanted me to learn how to drive quickly in order to throw our house
chores on me. Therefore, I kept learning how to drive, and my brother taught me how engines works
in simple words, and showed me how to keep maintenance of cars in general and engines in specific.
In conclusion, I have always wanted to study Mechanical Engineering for its great job opportunities,
my family recommendation, school encouragement, and personal experience. B: Mechanical

Survivor s Guilt In The Seventh Man By Haruki Murakami
Thousands of people are injured or killed every year during natural disasters. Many people may argue
about whether people should feel survivor s guilt or not after going through a life/death situation.
Survivor s guilt is when a person has went through a life/death situation and feel guilty about
surviving. Survivors of a life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt
One reason survivors of life and death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it can keep
you from healing. In the short story The seventh man written by Haruki Murakami in paragraph 47 it
states ....didn t get married another example is in paragraph 48 Didn t go back for 40 years . This
shows that feeling guilty about his life/death situations made his life miserable until he realises it wasn
t a big deal. This proves that, in the end survivor s guilt shouldn t affect someone who went through a
life and death situation because it wasn t their fault for wanting to live.
Another reason why survivors of life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it is
illogical. This is explained in the anchor text The moral logic of survivor guilt by Nancy Sherman. In
paragraph 5 it states We often take responsibility in a way the goes beyond what we can be held
responsible. This shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

life much harder due to it reminding the victim of there terrible tragedy. This proves that survivors

Montessori Method Essay
Montessori Method is a view of how children learn and develop, which Dr. Montessori translated into
a systematic method of education based on her observations and scientific study. It is unique in that it
has withstood the test of time and transcended boundaries and boarders. It has been used effectively
with all children including children with learning differences, physically handicapped and the gifted in
different countries around the world. There are 45,000 Montessori schools worldwide. All high fidelity
Montessori programs use the same materials and teaching strategies.
I am a Montessori Guide. Beliefs About Teaching and Learning
Education in not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by
the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences upon the
environment. (Montessori, Education for a New World, p.3)
Maria Montessori felt the teacher was crucial to the development of children. However, she saw the
teacher s role as being very different than it is in traditional education. According to Montessori, the
teacher s main goal is to light the flame of intelligence (Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.266) in
the student. The teacher is to be a guide, an inspiration and once the flame is lit, to disappear into the
environment. The focus in a Montessori classroom is on children learning, not on teachers teaching.
To that end, my primary role as a Montessori teacher, is that of an observer. Through daily observation
and documentation of students progress, I determine when and if a child needs further instruction
and/or support in any given subject. Observation allows me to determine when a child is ready for
new challenges and to scaffold the child from one activity and level to the next. I am observing to see
the true nature of the children, how they interact with people and the environment, what drives each
one, the children s strengths and weaknesses to determine how to nurture each child s spirit.
At the same time, I am observing the classroom environment. I am observing that the materials meet
the needs and interests of the children. Which activities and materials get most attention? Which
activities and

Below is a broken down overview of areas that need to be addressed:
Research: Target needs to perform a detailed research on its e/m commerce platforms and those of the
competition. Since Target is the follower, without spending too much in R D it can take advantage of
what Amazon has proven to be working and internalize those practices that increase number of visitors
and transactions. Using focus group studies and split testing1 Target can pinpoint aspects of the
platforms that work well, and areas that need improvement. Therefore, interface and content are the
two areas of focus of the research.
1Split Testing: Experiments with two variables, one controlled and one varied; also known as A/B
testing.
Interface: The lay out of Target.com and the mobile extension of the website as well as Target s mobile
app and its coupon app Cartwheel (currently under beta testing) need to be intuitively designed to
allow for easy navigation, selecting and comparing products and making payments.
Above all, as an extension of Target s in store differentiation strategy, the company needs to
implement strong customer service features on all its digital platforms as well. This will include
friendly, well English speaking customer service reps available 24/7 customers can talk to about
questions or technical problems with little or no waiting time.

Who Marcion Is Important For The Development Of Early...
Not all would call him a Christian scholar, but he was the most interesting second century Christian
and also the most detrimental to the development of early Christianity and his name was Marcion. In
this essay I will be explaining who Marcion is and why he was so important for the development of
early Christianity. To start off my research paper my first resource was by Peter Head, The Foreign
God And The Sudden Christ : Theology And Christology In Marcion s Gospel Redaction, in which he
talks about how many people back in the second century would not call Marcion a good Christian,
leader, or a reformer but was later a great influence for the New Testament. Head then briefly
introduces Marcion and who he was. Also, Peter Head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My next source by David William, Reconsidering Marcion s Gospel, addresses in his article that
Marcion was gathered from multiple different resources. Marcion s gospel was not written into the
text and was basically the same thoughts as Paul just with a few different ideas. Williams also states
his three general findings that he has as he studied Marcion thought out his life. Around 144 AD
Marcion expressed his beliefs to everyone and not just to the church. Most people at that time thought
that his beliefs were outrageous and they were frowned upon in that society. Marcion still believed
what he thought was right and created his own church. Even though he knew that giving his opinion
on religion was not a good idea during that time period he still did and got followers that believed in
what he was creating. Everyone that followed his lead and believed the same thing that he did were
called Marcionites. (Head) According to David Williams not much information on Marcion s gospel is
found. Most of the information is gathered up from references and quotes found in other literatures.
(Williams) Marcion s gospel that they have pieced together are said to look exactly like Luke s gospel.
If Marcion was asked the question himself, he would say that he was more like Paul rather than Luke.
Marcion s belief was in some ways similar to Gnostic Christian theology. Marcion was considered not
a good Christian,

Diana And The Hound Analysis
Throughout the ages, the human form has been used in art to express strength, purpose, and emotion.
As seen in two sculptures with over two thousand years of history between them, similar artistic
conventions are employed to create a sense of emotional connection to the human form sculpted. The
sculpture of Diana and the Hound and the Berlin Kore can both be found to use lines, angles, and
specific materials to create the distinct identity for the sculpted woman. The human form has been a
fixture in art, especially sculpture, due to its ability to portray emotions and purpose in a very relatable
and thoughtful manner.
The chosen work is located in the West building of the National Gallery. It is titled Diana and the
Hound. This bronze sculpture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diana holds a bow to symbolize her strength yet fluidity as she runs with her hound presumably on the
hunt. The hound next to her adds to her identity of a strong and nimble hunter who has the speed of an
animal and the grace of a beautiful young woman. The kore holds a pomegranate, a symbol possibly
signifying her youth, vitality, and wholesomeness. The pomegranate is a smaller symbol than either
the hound or the bow; however, the pomegranate is capable of symbolizing the Berlin Kore as a young
and fruitful member of her community. Both of these sculptures are free standing sculptures. The
ability to see these sculptures from any angle displays the bodies of these sculptures in a way that no
painting or relief sculpture could portray. The three dimensionality brings all the symbolism and
emotion out of the sculpture and to the viewer. The identity of both of these women would be diluted
if they were captured through a two dimensional

Alzheimer s Job Application Essay Sample
Alzheimer s was only a medical term known to me for several years. I did not have the slightest of
idea that I will have to face this dreaded word in my personal life. It was my 15th birthday when my
grandmother was diagnosed with this debilitating disease. At times, she was walking barefooted on the

Taking a Look at Institutional Repositories
Academic institutions such as the University and College tend to produce academic journal articles
and other scholarly works which in the early days published and kept in the library or disseminate to
other organization. As the production of this material keeps increasing the needs to have a large
storage to keep all the materials became a problem for the institution. This is because some of the
institution did not have a very large storage to cater the needs to keep the materials as the institution
not only keep materials publish from the institution only but also from another institution. As the
technologies revolve, more initiative has been taken to ensure that the scholarly works of an institution
can be disseminated to various part of the world in order to share the knowledge. During the early
days the information is published using printed method and the time taken to disseminate it is far too
long and the cost is also very high. Other than that, it is very hard to preserve printed materials in a big
number. As the institution is now using digital format in publishing their scholarly works, the process
of disseminating the knowledge become easier and faster. Now days the digitization activity for
materials seems to be increasing as people are now more concern about the preservation of printed
materials which lead to the needs of a repository to keep and manage those materials.
Today s institutions are mostly now having their own institutional repository. What is an

During the summer of 2014 I took part in the Energy Project programme, I was paired with a small

rugged and reliable water boiling system, the Jompy boiler. The system itself took advantage of
compact heat exchanger design principles incorporating a high surface area, minimising the footprint
of the system without sacrificing overall performance, the boiler was capable of producing water in
excess of 70oC within a matter of 5 7 seconds(from my own experience with the boiler). The overall

The purpose of the hiring of the local partners is to take advantage of their knowledge of the local
populace, for example if a potential customer has a reputation of looking after their belongings and
being good on their word concerning their repayments, then a set minimum deposit would be

management. The key would be to ensure that the monthly repayments would remain consistent. After
approximately 8 months the Jompy is paid off, instead of increasing profitability of the scheme after
this benchmark all excess repayments are invested back into local development and infrastructure

involved initiating an honest and mutually beneficial relationship with these Sub Saharan local

Justice Is Not A True Form Of Justice
With the world being covered with injustice and cruelty, we must decide what being just actually
means. The question of what is justice is a question that has spanned the ages. However, we have
begun to form an outline to what we believe may or what may not be a correct form of justice .
Aquinas attempts to rhetorically show us what the truest form of justice is. Aquinas takes into account
many different factors asking what justice is and whether justice is always toward another, to name a
few examples. I will attempt to use the writings put forth by Aquinas to prove whether the judicial
system within Ferguson, Missouri is being completely just or if the justice being dealt for the police
officer is not a true form of justice.
On Monday, November 17, 2014 there was an article within the New York Times written by John
Eligon, Julie Bosman, and Monica Davey titled In Ferguson, Tactics Are Set for Grand Jury Decision
in the Brown Case. This controversial case is in move because of a debatably overpowering shooting
of an eighteen year old boy. However, this shooting was done by an officer of the law. We must decide
what is just within this very extreme case that is being tried. On one hand we see that an unarmed
eighteen year old boy was shot and killed in the middle of the street on that dreadful August 9th.

Personal Behavior Change
Everyone has different challenge in his/her life ,and he/she may have different view on the same thing.
Therefore, people will have different goals which they are eager to achieve. Based on what my life
looks like and what I need in my life, my behavior change is to exercise at least one hour every day.
The reasons why I choose this goal are because I want to spend some time relaxing from my daily life,
and get the balance between education and occupation. Moreover, I expect to burn the fat in my body
because I spend very little time for workout since I got a job. When I planned to accomplish this
behavior change, I knew that challenges or difficulties would appear, I could not avoid them and I
could not finish it easily. But I am the kind of person who likes challenge and I am not afraid of it.
Therefore, I chose this behavior change. During the process of this behavior change, I met a lot of
difficulties and I learn how to get balance well in my life. The first and the biggest difficulty is time
because the time availability is limit for me. Because I have two summer classes and I need to work
five days weekly, time is huge challenge for me during the process. My schedule looks like going
school on the morning and working at the evening. Therefore, the only ... Show more content on

After accomplishing this behavior change, I also find that there is a big potential ability for me and I
believe that if I spend time and work hard, I can get through everything no matter how hard it is. And
if I had chance to select a behavior to change, I would do the same thing again because it is full of
challenges for me. But I would reduce the time for working or others so that everything can get
balance if I continue to keep working on this behavior change. I will try my best to continue this
behavior change because it will make my body strong and

Diversity and Inclusion Paper
Thinking About Diversity and Inclusion Paper SOC/315 December 15, 2010 Professor Dr. Lorthridge
Introduction This paper will discuss and focus on the four dimensions of diversity: ethnicity, gender,
differences in skills, abilities and personality traits and how they have an impact in my workplace. To
be able to go further in this paper one should understand the definition of diversity. Diversity is a
variety between people associated to factors such as culture, employment status, education, family
orientation, gender, origin, physical appearance, religion, sexual orientation and thinking style
(Harvey, C. P., 2009). Although the differences themselves are unquestionable, organizations and
society often reject them by acknowledging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organizations must stop visualizing diversity as an issue and start seeing it as a benefit for the
organization. There are several reasons why a diverse workforce will add value to a company. Most
businesses, either large or small, work on a global scale; the information age has brought the entire
world a lot closer. Having associates that can deal with different cultures around the world is crucial to
an expanding business. A diverse workforce will help to build more rounded individuals with
experience they will gain from a mixed environment. Customers will benefit from the diverse
workforce because a company that makes a choice to be open and flexible with its associates will
more than likely be easy to work with in a business relationship. Probably the most important aspect
of having a diverse workforce is the vast knowledge gained by pooling the different life lessons,
cultures and experience together thereby allowing everyone the chance to learn new and different
business practices (Sappal, Pepi, 2002). In reality, as you can see from the positive argument produced
above, diversity assist organizations a key advantage in the corporate world. Culture can help an
organization to succeed, when diversity is taken into action, non biased and properly managed can be
greatly effective. There is no doubt after researching the arguments for cultural diversity that
organizations should invest in a highly

Crystal Meth Paper
Before watching the videos on crystal meth I was very uneducated when it came to the drug. After
watching the Oprah Winfrey Show and Meth is Death video, it was very easy for me to come to the
conclusion that crystal meth is a very intense and addictive drug.
On the Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah describes crystal meth as being the most dangerous drug in
America and the biggest problem officers face concerning drugs. She also says crystal meth is not
popular with a particular group of people. Rather, it crosses every group. Oprah has a few guests who
were addicted to crystal meth and share their addiction experiences. The guests consist of Chantel,
Megan, Michelle, and Jay.
Oprah s first guest is Chantel, a seventeen year old girl addicted ... Show more content on

Megan said she did meth every day and every hour. It changed her mood and appearance, but still
managed to hide her addiction from her parents. She would only get about two hours once a week.
Finally Megan was kicked out of her house and was gone for a whole week where she did not sleep at
all. Megan s mother happened to see Chantel on the Oprah show and realized that her daughter was in
the same boat as Chantel. Megan s mother finally found her and asked Megan to watch the Oprah
Show regarding Chantel. After viewing the Chantel s story, Megan agreed to go to rehab where she
ironically met Chantel. Megan told Chantel that she saw her show on Oprah, and Chantel was the
reason Megan is at rehab. The two became very close while in rehab. Megan left rehab after one
hundred and twenty two days, and is still clean. Megan said she still has the urge to use and it is very
hard for her to stop partying.
Michelle is Oprah s next guest who was a Bible study teacher and married for fourteen years with a
son. However Michelle had no intimacy in her marriage and met someone else who got her to try
crystal meth. Michelle admitted that she thought it would only be a recreational drug she took every
once in a while. However she took it and was instantly hooked and began to take crystal meth every
day. She lost her job, her husband divorced her, and went from one hundred and forty pounds to ninety
eight pounds. Michelle found

Mobile Communication Is Multi Hop Ad Hoc Systems
INTRODUCTION: The Latest advances in Wireless Communications have extended conceivable
applications from straightforward voice services in early cell systems to new incorporated information
applications. These days, numerous up to date cellular telephones are likewise incorporated with
functionalities including FM radio, advanced camera, and MP3 player. Hence, the services upheld by
mobile communications have extended from basic voice to sight and sound, for example, video
conferencing and portable gaming. These new services require a higher service quality and also more
prominent information rate. Moreover, with mobile access to the Internet, the expanding development
in information movement will further drive the requirement for higher data transmission. Current
foundations that bolster mostly voice activity are confronting an incredible test in meeting both the
transmission capacity and quality of service requests of future mobile communication clients. For
mobile communication, one concept with successful improvement is customary single hop cell
frameworks where a mobile station (MS) speaks specifically with a base station (BS) [1]. Another idea
of mobile communication is multi hop ad hoc systems, which are infrastructure less, self sorting out
and quickly deployable with no site arranging, dissimilar to traditional cell systems. At the point when
associations need to move between heterogeneous systems for performance and high accessibility
reasons, consistent

The Negative Effects of the North American Free Trade...
The Negative Effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement
In January 1994, the United States, Mexico, and Canada implemented the North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA), forming the largest free trade zone in the world. The goal of NAFTA is to create
better trading conditions through tariff reduction, removal of investment barriers, and improvement of
intellectual property protection. NAFTA continues to gradually reduce tariffs on set dates and aims to
eliminate all tariffs by the year 2004. Before NAFTA was established, investing in Mexico was a
difficult process. Investors needed the Mexican Government s approval and were also required to meet
specific investment guidelines. These requirements necessitated ... Show more content on

This extensive growth is accredited primarily to the reduction of tariffs. As tariffs were lowered, U.S.
goods became cheaper and more competitive in Mexican and Canadian markets, and at this lower
price level the quantity demanded of U.S. goods increased. Therefore it becomes less expensive for
U.S. firms to supply goods to Canada and Mexico as the supply curve shifts upward. In order to meet
the new demand, the firms must hire new workers and increase investment. Between 1994 and 1997,
90 to 160 thousand jobs were created in the U.S. due to the increase of trade with Mexico, and 2.4
million jobs were dependent upon trade with Mexico and Canada (Harbrecht 12).
The increase in employment and investment then leads to increased national income. The work of
NAFTA has also served to benefit Mexico s economy; in accordance with the United States economy,
Mexico s exports have increased, more than doubling since 1993. The elimination of investment
barriers has caused a dramatic rise in foreign investment from four billion in 1993 to ten billion dollars
in 1998. NAFTA has enabled Volkswagen, IBM, and the textile industry to seek labor and materials in
Mexico. In 1994, a Canada based entrepreneur invested four million dollars in a metal stamping plant.
The plant is now a major material suppler for Volkswagen although it was originally intended to
employ only 130 people. The plant currently employs 1,300 workers and generates 57 million dollars

Imagery And Second Person Imagery
People have various reasons and emotions that prompt them to carry out an event in a certain way.
First Person Imagery and Third Person Imagery are the two ways that determine how a person will
act. The idea of the use of various imagery perspectives can affect memory and emotions can cause a
person to react. Third person imagery tends to understand behavior as a function of the actor s
disposition, whereas actors tend to understand their behavior as a function of the situation (Libby et
al., 2007). This imagery perspective allows a person to understand the purpose, reasoning, and the
effects of making a decision. For example, a person is using third person imagery when making an
important decision, such as voting or picking a career. Social judgement and character are the factors
that help people decide whether their decision will be one way or another. First person imagery
perspective allows people to carry out an action or event without much influence on emotions and
social judgement. This perspective offers the chance for people to analyze and use their emotions can
occur when making a decision (Holmes et al., 2008). The emotions that initially in making a decision
comes out first, not the influences of other plus your emotions. For instance, a person has their
feelings towards war, the environment, and politics. In first person perspective, people have the
chance to only express their emotion towards various situations. Using third

Week 1: Enterprise Architecture Foundation
1.In your opinion, what are three main topics of chapter one? How do you know if you have a good
foundation?
In my view the three main topics of chapter one are How do you build a Foundation for execution,
How does a Foundation for execution create Business value and Do you have a good foundation for
execution.
Foundation of Execution basically implies the mechanization of routine business tasks. Doing this
permits individuals to focus on enhancing the business as opposed to simply absolutely running it.
According to Ross, Weill, and Robertson, the three keys to building a strong foundation are Operating
model, Enterprise architecture and IT engagement model. I can say that a company has a good
foundation if it experiences higher profitability, faster time to market, and lower IT costs. In any case,
those aren t the main reasons you would need to construct an strong foundation for execution.
Moreover, developing complexity in an company s system can make inflexibility in the systems, and
excessive costs, without included quality. Likewise, business agility relies on upon an strong
foundation for execution. More agile companies have their center procedures digitized. ... Show more

A operating model is the operational design that makes it conceivable to convey the business
methodology. Operational design takes after technique, however the relationship additionally lives up
to expectations the other path around, which implies that thoughts for operating model enhancements
can prompt changes in business strategy. Operating models usually exist which work with differing
degrees of success. The aim is to amend and align existing models to the critical success factors and in
simplest form, a Operating Model defines how the critical work of a company is carried

Recommendation Analysis
The usability testing for PowerTeacher s Gradebook indicated that the interface is lacking in some
basic usability features such as learnability, ease of use, feedback and memorability. The study
findings suggest many usability issues related to creating new assignments, entering comments,
manually overwrite grades, and generating reports within the school information system which are
potentially impeding a teacher s capacity to efficiently execute routine classroom management tasks,
at least the time frame in which these tasks are completed. This is especially a problem for novice or
intermediate teachers, and essentially teachers who do not ample planning time, as they are occupied
with multiple functions and responsibilities. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also more than one + buttons are on the assignment screen; therefore a user may not know which one
to use after reading the steps in the Help File.
4. Simplify the steps, and make more visible the option to include a teacher s signature line when
generating reports. Including a Signature Line on a report is a frequent task by users, hence should not
have to manipulate several options to locate it. Currently, the user have to manipulate several steps to
find the signature line, this can be time consuming and frustrating, especially for a novice user or
intermediate user, which was the case during the observation.
5. Simplify the steps to generate reports. Currently to generate a final grade and verification report
requires the user to complete approximately 10 steps. A user generating five successive reports must
chose an incorrect reporting period before the correct one can be selected. For example, the first report
for year, year one is selected, then the second report for quarter 4, another period such as quarter 1
must be selected and then go back and select quarter 4 before the quarter 4 report can be generated.
This is time consuming and reduces the memorability of the Interface.
6. Add more examples to the Help File, for example how to enter grades so that it is not reflected in a
final grade. None of the three participants was able to locate the steps for this task using the Help File.
7. Include more feedback

Advantages Of Online Education Vs Traditional Liberal Arts...
Research Paper One of the main goals in life is to find a great career and start a family. Well in order
to be eligible for a career one need to go to college and get a degree. When it comes to college
students have to option to take classes online and in class. This research paper is to compare the
disadvantages and advantages of online education vs traditional liberal arts education through case
studies. The first case study that I found was on done at Delgabon Community College by Ph.D.
Jennifer R. Lang. Lang brings forth man problems. The problems that Lang discussed were lack of
classroom availability, lack of class room space and extra help foe student that takes classes on line. It
was shown that the school didn t have enough space to have extra classes added in a day. With that
being the case students were limited to times and classes they could take per semester. The other
issues was lack of class room space. This issue caused students to have to register early for a class and
if they didn t register early enough they had to take an online class or wait to the next semester to take
that particular class. This is a problem toward online classes because it causes the online class to be
more of an alternative for students rather than a choice. This is why students that take online class
rooms need to have extra help because they wanted a face to face learning experience but instead were
forced to take a class online. When it comes to online classes most students

Trauma And Stressor Related Disorder
In the DSM 5, PTSD is listed under Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders. In order for a person to be
diagnosed with PTSD, they must meet a number of criterion the first one being exposure to actual or
threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence. If the person does not meet this criterion, they are
automatically exempt from being diagnosed with PTSD. This alone is incredibly restrictive, ignoring
many groups of traumatized victims including those with psychiatric diagnosis, or those being
removed from their home. Though many people can benefit from the treatments associated with
PTSD, its two dimensionality, or lack of reference to ongoing exposure has created a want for a new
diagnosis in the trauma realm. Herman s response to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In creating the opportunity for more individuals to be diagnosed with a post traumatic syndrome, C
PTSD creates a dignified title for individuals who have already endured so much. Victims of
childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused children have to undergo a series of
adaptations in order to experience self preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include
elaboration of dissociative defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation
of emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner representations of
safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they also cling to their abusers. During this
time, Herman refers to fragmentation as becoming the central principle of personality organization .
Normal regulations of emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and
chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional states are also
affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual becomes too accustomed to
using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can experience something referred to as annihilation
panic . When annihilation panic ensues, only extreme shocks to the system (such as self mutilation)
can help them separate themselves from dissociation. Though these adaptations are crucial for

Patricia Hill Matrix Of Domination
Matrix of domination Matrix of domination is a sociological paradigm, which explains issues of
oppression that concerns gender, race and class, which is looked as being different but in reality is

in the matrix of domination. The theory originates from the theoretical perspective of multiracial
feminism .Patricia Hill introduced the theory of the matrix of domination in her book called Black

has taught me to look deeper at certain situation and taught me the importance of education and hard

by gender, race, class and sexuality are that they all interconnected with social systems and

class and race shape family. The reason it is shaped by gender, sexuality, race, and class is that the

Summary Of Herman Hesse s Demian
Herman Hesse s Demian emphasizes the importance of change and self discovery. Emil Sinclair, the
story s protagonist, experiences various adjustments, which in time influence his values and identity.
As the story develops, Sinclair acquaints himself to Max Demian, an intellectual being, who further
encourages him to acknowledge the human s definite capabilities. Through his interpretation of Cain,
Demian impacts the way in which Sinclair views the world. His understanding of the story contradicts
the standard Christian narrative. Seeing as his principal conflict revolves around the distinction of the
good and the bad, Sinclair continuously suppresses his feelings towards the controversial aspect of
things. Through this, one becomes aware of the depicted duality of Cain and Abel. Furthermore,
Sinclair progressively becomes intrigued with the world s divergence which is contradictory to
Christianity and its values. The incorporation of Cain and Abel is quite controversial, in terms of
society and its standards. All in all, Hesse impeccably interprets Cain s mark by bringing awareness to
the characters possessing alternate mindsets. This essay serves to address the interpretation of Cain s
mark, as Hesse demonstrates its existence through distinguishing individuals, and its effect on society.
Conforming with societal norms, the story s protagonist is patently characterized through his
innocence and his perception of the world. Due to its assurance of freedom and safety, Emil

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, also known as Jack, was an American statesman who served as the 35th
President of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. John F.
Kennedy is remembered for many things and one of those many things is inaugural address speech.
After being sworn into the office of presidency our 35th President of the United States of America,
John F. Kennedy, gave a much remembered inaugural address speech. On that cold January day as
thousands of people watched across the globe, President Kennedy used a good amount of rhetoric
devices in his speech to draw the audience s attention so they will listen to what points he was trying
to get across. Throughout the speech Kennedy used the rhetoric devices such as diction, syntax,
sentence structure, antithesis, and parallelism.
The Inaugural address, as it starts, Kennedy uses sturdy diction when he speaks about the world. In
paragraph three, For man holds in his mortal hands the power to eliminate all forms of human
property... the words are chosen that would best grasp the listeners. The way things are ran, or will
run, Kennedy says that it s left up to the people, yet God has the helping hand.
The speech varies in each word he spoke. Using arrangement of words, speaks of talking about the
main subject yet expanding what should be said. When Kennedy uses syntax, he used short sayings
and lengthen vocabulary. In paragraph six, any is used repeatedly which takes the audience

Aging With Grace By David Snowdon
Promoting Shalom with Older Adults Aging with Grace by David Snowdon does a fantastic job at
addressing different issues that older adults face when it comes to cognitive function. However,
Snowdon does not limit this book to just that. He conducted a research project where he interacted
with the older generation of nuns. Originally, he treated them as just test subjects in his study of
Alzheimer s disease. As his research progressed, he soon realized that he could not just treat the nuns
like lab rats. One of the younger nuns approached him and said I ll move forward with your request,
buy you need to listen carefully to what I am about to say. No matter what you do, I want you to
remember who these women are. They are real people. Very dear to us. They are holy people, too. I
don t want you to treat them as research subjects. Get to know them. Understand that many of the
older sisters were the teachers or mentors of the younger sisters, and we treat them with the care and
respect they deserve, we will expect nothing less from you. He needed to get to know each one of
them as an individual rather than part of his experiment. He began getting to know their past and how
that has affected each of them to this day. Through his research, he go to know the nuns physical state.
Snowdon also took the time to learn more about their spiritual, emotional, and psychological well
being as well. He was a good example of what every Christian nurse should strive for when working

Internet Software Piracy
Software is the programming language and the operative system that runs a computer and allows the
user to execute actions such as send and receive information through pictures, music, videos, text

people illegally share media property to each other. In the past the unauthorized copyright of any
computer program or software was possible only through the physical exchange of disks or other hard

  • 2. Social Impact Of Industrialization In Germany Mia Allen HST 102 Paper 1: Industrialization in Germany and its Social Impact The industrialization of cities, such as Berlin, greatly increased the price of living for the working class. Because of this, children who were a cheap source of labor, were often times expected to work daily for meager earnings. This process is exhibited in the engraving titled Orphan Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution. The images are set in Germany in 1846 and display orphaned girls working in a sewing factory and boys working in a textile factory. This depiction of boys and girls speaks volumes about gender roles when it comes to social standing and job opportunities. In addition, these images show a very idealized version of child labor and industrialization and argue that children should be a source of cheap labor to reduce the cost of production and be separated based on sex. Many other sources such as Dronke s Excerpts from Berlin and The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels juxtapose this interpretation. The conflicting viewpoints of industrialization and gender roles will hence be analyzed in relation to the engraving and child labor in Germany in the 1800s. The industrial revolution began in England in the 1770s and expanded to areas in Prussia and Bohemia by the 1840s. The scope of industrialization was huge and forever changed the landscape of modern society by increasing production, national wealth, and technological advancement. However, it also resulted ... • 4. Survivor s Guilt In The Seventh Man By Haruki Murakami Thousands of people are injured or killed every year during natural disasters. Many people may argue about whether people should feel survivor s guilt or not after going through a life/death situation. Survivor s guilt is when a person has went through a life/death situation and feel guilty about surviving. Survivors of a life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt One reason survivors of life and death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it can keep you from healing. In the short story The seventh man written by Haruki Murakami in paragraph 47 it states ....didn t get married another example is in paragraph 48 Didn t go back for 40 years . This shows that feeling guilty about his life/death situations made his life miserable until he realises it wasn t a big deal. This proves that, in the end survivor s guilt shouldn t affect someone who went through a life and death situation because it wasn t their fault for wanting to live. Another reason why survivors of life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it is illogical. This is explained in the anchor text The moral logic of survivor guilt by Nancy Sherman. In paragraph 5 it states We often take responsibility in a way the goes beyond what we can be held responsible. This shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Montessori Method Essay Montessori Method is a view of how children learn and develop, which Dr. Montessori translated into a systematic method of education based on her observations and scientific study. It is unique in that it has withstood the test of time and transcended boundaries and boarders. It has been used effectively with all children including children with learning differences, physically handicapped and the gifted in different countries around the world. There are 45,000 Montessori schools worldwide. All high fidelity Montessori programs use the same materials and teaching strategies. I am a Montessori Guide. Beliefs About Teaching and Learning Education in not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences upon the environment. (Montessori, Education for a New World, p.3) Maria Montessori felt the teacher was crucial to the development of children. However, she saw the teacher s role as being very different than it is in traditional education. According to Montessori, the teacher s main goal is to light the flame of intelligence (Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.266) in the student. The teacher is to be a guide, an inspiration and once the flame is lit, to disappear into the environment. The focus in a Montessori classroom is on children learning, not on teachers teaching. To that end, my primary role as a Montessori teacher, is that of an observer. Through daily observation and documentation of students progress, I determine when and if a child needs further instruction and/or support in any given subject. Observation allows me to determine when a child is ready for new challenges and to scaffold the child from one activity and level to the next. I am observing to see the true nature of the children, how they interact with people and the environment, what drives each one, the children s strengths and weaknesses to determine how to nurture each child s spirit. At the same time, I am observing the classroom environment. I am observing that the materials meet the needs and interests of the children. Which activities and materials get most attention? Which activities and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not all would call him a Christian scholar, but he was the most interesting second century Christian and also the most detrimental to the development of early Christianity and his name was Marcion. In this essay I will be explaining who Marcion is and why he was so important for the development of early Christianity. To start off my research paper my first resource was by Peter Head, The Foreign God And The Sudden Christ : Theology And Christology In Marcion s Gospel Redaction, in which he talks about how many people back in the second century would not call Marcion a good Christian, leader, or a reformer but was later a great influence for the New Testament. Marcion s gospel was not written into the text and was basically the same thoughts as Paul just with a few different ideas. Williams also states his three general findings that he has as he studied Marcion thought out his life. Around 144 AD Marcion expressed his beliefs to everyone and not just to the church. Most people at that time thought that his beliefs were outrageous and they were frowned upon in that society. Marcion still believed what he thought was right and created his own church. Even though he knew that giving his opinion on religion was not a good idea during that time period he still did and got followers that believed in what he was creating. Everyone that followed his lead and believed the same thing that he did were called Marcionites. (Head) According to David Williams not much information on Marcion s gospel is found. The sculpture of Diana and the Hound and the Berlin Kore can both be found to use lines, angles, and specific materials to create the distinct identity for the sculpted woman. Taking a Look at Institutional Repositories Academic institutions such as the University and College tend to produce academic journal articles and other scholarly works which in the early days published and kept in the library or disseminate to other organization. As the production of this material keeps increasing the needs to have a large storage to keep all the materials became a problem for the institution. This is because some of the institution did not have a very large storage to cater the needs to keep the materials as the institution not only keep materials publish from the institution only but also from another institution. As the technologies revolve, more initiative has been taken to ensure that the scholarly works of an institution can be disseminated to various part of the world in order to share the knowledge. During the early days the information is published using printed method and the time taken to disseminate it is far too long and the cost is also very high. Other than that, it is very hard to preserve printed materials in a big number. As the institution is now using digital format in publishing their scholarly works, the process of disseminating the knowledge become easier and faster. The system itself took advantage of compact heat exchanger design principles incorporating a high surface area, minimising the footprint of the system without sacrificing overall performance, the boiler was capable of producing water in excess of 70oC within a matter of 5 7 seconds(from my own experience with the boiler). The overall aims of the project included: 1. Researching possible rental markets, with an emphasis on sustainable development. 2. Effects of transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key would be to ensure that the monthly repayments would remain consistent. After approximately 8 months the Jompy is paid off, instead of increasing profitability of the scheme after this benchmark all excess repayments are invested back into local development and infrastructure (schools, education fees, stationary etc). My task was to investigate potential problems faced by the model and if any companies had successfully implemented like minded schemes. To accomplish this, the potential problems of the model had to be identified in this case one of the main problems involved initiating an honest and mutually beneficial relationship with these Sub Saharan local communities. This came in the form of formulating potential marketing strategies and suggesting forms of engagement towards those who would benefit most from the product. Another of the main goals ... The question of what is justice is a question that has spanned the ages. However, we have begun to form an outline to what we believe may or what may not be a correct form of justice . Aquinas attempts to rhetorically show us what the truest form of justice is. Aquinas takes into account many different factors asking what justice is and whether justice is always toward another, to name a few examples. I will attempt to use the writings put forth by Aquinas to prove whether the judicial system within Ferguson, Missouri is being completely just or if the justice being dealt for the police officer is not a true form of justice. On Monday, November 17, 2014 there was an article within the New York Times written by John Eligon, Julie Bosman, and Monica Davey titled In Ferguson, Tactics Are Set for Grand Jury Decision in the Brown Case. This controversial case is in move because of a debatably overpowering shooting of an eighteen year old boy. However, this shooting was done by an officer of the law. We must decide what is just within this very extreme case that is being tried. On one hand we see that an unarmed eighteen year old boy was shot and killed in the middle of the street on that dreadful August 9th. To be able to go further in this paper one should understand the definition of diversity. Diversity is a variety between people associated to factors such as culture, employment status, education, family orientation, gender, origin, physical appearance, religion, sexual orientation and thinking style (Harvey, C. Having associates that can deal with different cultures around the world is crucial to an expanding business. A diverse workforce will help to build more rounded individuals with experience they will gain from a mixed environment. Customers will benefit from the diverse workforce because a company that makes a choice to be open and flexible with its associates will more than likely be easy to work with in a business relationship. Probably the most important aspect of having a diverse workforce is the vast knowledge gained by pooling the different life lessons, cultures and experience together thereby allowing everyone the chance to learn new and different business practices (Sappal, Pepi, 2002). This extensive growth is accredited primarily to the reduction of tariffs. As tariffs were lowered, U.S. goods became cheaper and more competitive in Mexican and Canadian markets, and at this lower price level the quantity demanded of U.S. goods increased. Therefore it becomes less expensive for U.S. firms to supply goods to Canada and Mexico as the supply curve shifts upward. In order to meet the new demand, the firms must hire new workers and increase investment. Between 1994 and 1997, 90 to 160 thousand jobs were created in the U.S. due to the increase of trade with Mexico, and 2.4 million jobs were dependent upon trade with Mexico and Canada (Harbrecht 12). The increase in employment and investment then leads to increased national income. Well in order to be eligible for a career one need to go to college and get a degree. When it comes to college students have to option to take classes online and in class. This research paper is to compare the disadvantages and advantages of online education vs traditional liberal arts education through case studies. The first case study that I found was on done at Delgabon Community College by Ph.D. Jennifer R. Lang. Lang brings forth man problems. The problems that Lang discussed were lack of classroom availability, lack of class room space and extra help foe student that takes classes on line. It was shown that the school didn t have enough space to have extra classes added in a day. With that being the case students were limited to times and classes they could take per semester. The other issues was lack of class room space. This issue caused students to have to register early for a class and if they didn t register early enough they had to take an online class or wait to the next semester to take that particular class. This is a problem toward online classes because it causes the online class to be more of an alternative for students rather than a choice. This is why students that take online class rooms need to have extra help because they wanted a face to face learning experience but instead were forced to take a class online. Victims of childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused children have to undergo a series of adaptations in order to experience self preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include elaboration of dissociative defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation of emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner representations of safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they also cling to their abusers. During this time, Herman refers to fragmentation as becoming the central principle of personality organization . Normal regulations of emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional states are also affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual becomes too accustomed to using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can experience something referred to as annihilation panic .
