In America you can vote, why?; because we have a democracy in which people are in charge and vote
for what they want and believe in. Voting is a constitutional right in which all American citizens have

future. Opinion, everyone uses it from the president to an average joe, so what is one of the best ways
to voice your opinion, voting. You vote because you want to express what should happen in you life

However, successful and effective implementation of these techniques depend on a number of factors
key among them being organizational structure, organizational culture as well as the decision making
strategies within an organization. Organizational structure plays an important role in the
implementation of different types of strategies including cybersecurity. This is because the structure of
an organization establishes a clear understanding of the processes required to achieve a given strategy.
Organizational structure describes an entity s internal pattern of communication, authority and
relationships. It clearly outlines the manner in which power and authority within an organization is
granted and shared as well as the role that different members of an organization should play.
Organization structures often vary from one organization to another. This variation often depends on
the size of the business, the industry within which the company is operating in to mention but a few.
This means that the cybersecurity functions and mandate often vary from one organization to another.
Implementation of cybersecurity is likely to be successful in organizations whose structure is formal
and well defined as opposed to those with an informal structure. Within a formal organizational
structure, the roles and responsibilities of organizational leaders and other members of the
organizations are usually well articulated. A formal

Concentration Camps At Auschwitz Essay
Did you know that over one million people died at Auschwitz? Auschwitz was the largest
concentration camp of all the concentration camps. It was also the most horrifying. concentration
camps were camps where people were detained without trial. They were kept in extremely harsh
conditions and without any rights. Concentration camps were an atrocious aspect of World War II
because of what happened to the people that lived there and simply because of the reason they were
there. Concentration camps were camps where people were detained without trial and were tortured by
the Nazis. Between 1933 and 1945, Nazi Germany established about 20,000 camps to imprison its
many victims, such as Jews, Gypsies, and criminals (www.ushmm.org). Just over 60 ... Show more

At Auschwitz, the largest of all concentration camps to have existed, children were often killed upon
arrival. Children born in the camps were generally killed on the spot (auschwitz.dk). As to say that
innocent children were brutally murdered for not being able to do tasks meant for men. Prisoners were
fed a small cup of watery soup, a piece of bread, and imitation coffee and sometimes not at all
(www.theholocaustexplained.org). Prisoners were starved and even to death for being unliked. Nazi
Germany exploited the labor of the occupied peoples from the onset of the occupation. More that
fourteen million people and 2.5 million prisoners of war were transported to Germany for labor
(yadvashem.org). Nazis took many occupied people and prisoners to yield other camps with prisoners
to do their dirty work, simply because of the hatred for people different from themselves.
Concentration camps established a foundation for Hitler s hatred. These camps may have not been a
direct cause for World War II, but they did set a sturdy base for theNazi s to take control and they will
always be a memory of the people we lost and how they are part of why we have freedom today.
Many people did not and still don t understand how horrid these camps are and how they relate to our

Epilogue To Marcel s Last Memory
Saban broke the silence as Marcel tried to evade being followed, What about the escape line? It is not
an option just yet, Marcel said as he alternated watching the road and the rearview mirror. Saban took
a deep breath, exhaled, closed his eyes, and shook his head. Shit! What is wrong? asked Saban. I
believe we are being followed. What are you going to do? Be quiet and let me think. Marcel grabbed a
pistol from his waistband, flipped off the safety, and held it in his hand as a dark colored sedan sped
close to the rear of their auto. The sedan pulled alongside with the window rolled down and a man
yelled from inside, Pull over! Marcel glanced at the sedan and saw a man with a pistol pointed at him.

checked the handcuffs. When they looked at him, he smiled and gave a nod of approval. After settling
in the front seat with the agent, Marcel grabbed a carton of cigarettes from under the seat, removed a
pack, and replaced the carton. He smacked the end of the pack on the dashboard to tighten the
tobacco, opened the pack, removed a cigarette, lit it, inhaled, rolled his window down slightly, and
blew the smoke out. The agent declined an offer of a cigarette, so Marcel started the auto, shoved it in

Although unaware of supervision styles, having had the experience of interacting with my siblings I
knew that being authoritarian with peers in a group project did not work effectively. Some type of
cooperative learning with peers was found to be the way to produce significant gains as a group
leader. One particular skill I learned as a leader was how to fill roles that the group is deficient in,
either by taking them on myself or assigning them to others. This made the group have balance so that
difficulties in decision making were reduced. Although I may generally classify my leadership style as
democratic, there were times where I confess I was autocratic. For example, if there was too much
indecision and an important time bound decision on behalf of the group was needed. This was not a

Frontier Development in the Oregon Territory
Frontier Development in the Oregon Territory
Introduction Faragher, Buhle, Cziyron and Armitage ( 2010) note the westward development into the
new territories of the United States usually took place in three stages; trade, settlement and statehood.
The speed at which this expansion occurred reinforced America s sense of themselves as a pioneering
people. This experience worked to create a belief that the United States was a nation of adventurous,
optimistic, and democratic people (p. 357). Newspaperman John O Sullivan wrote that Americans had
a God given right to bring the benefits of democracy to other more backward people, and accomplish
this by force if necessary. He argued this was the nation s manifest destiny. This belief became
widespread and in conjunction with a missionary fervor and racist attitudes was a powerful motivating
drive to the Pacific (p. 357).
Discussion
Trade In Oregon development was first predicated on trade between Spanish, British, Russian, and
American ships and region s Indian peoples for sea otter skins. This period lasted from roughly 1780
to 1810. During this period of frontier inclusion there were many, often sexual contacts between the
native inhabitants and the traders (p.360).
Settlement Fur trappers, their Indian wives and their families composed the first permanent European
settlers in the region. They congregated in Willamette Valley, a spot that became known as the French
Prairie even though the inhabitants were a

How Children Acquire Aggressive Reponses
Childhood Aggression
Many studies found frustration, various drugs, beliefs, traits and provocation are some influences that
effect childhood aggression. Archer (1991) concentrated on biological influence such as
norepinephrine, serotonin, cortisol and testosterone. This brief will focus on several theories that
elevate aggression and can be positively modified by family and environment. Aggression was defined
by Volavka Citrome (1999) as, a physical behaviour that causes psychological or physical harm or
damage to objects or living beings. Aggression is often divided into two types one being instrumental,
or proactive aggression and is pre meditated and frequently goal directed resulting from a lack of
emotional sensitivity. In contrast, reactive aggression stems from excess emotional sensitivity and is
developed through negative experiences and emotions including anger and anxiety (Tremblay et al.,
2005).
According to (Bandura, 1983, 2001; Mischel, 1973; Mischel Shoda, 1995), children acquire
aggressive responses; either by observing others or by direct experience and this is similar to how they
learn any form of social behaviour. Bandura (1983) examined this social learning theory and explained
how the observational learning processes and modelling the behaviour of others can escalate the
acquisition of aggressive behaviours by children in certain situations. This theory is closely associated
to Huesmann s (1986, 1998) script theory. Huesmann (1986, 1998)

case and overlooked what the strengths and weaknesses of our argument would be presented to the
Court. To assist our argument we have decided to utilize the regulations, substantive laws and case
laws. The case precedents will provide multiple directions for the arguments to be assessed in the
Court. Greene s Jewelry is more likely to receive a favorable judgment by applying these resources in
the claim against Ms. Lawson. After numerous evaluations and examinations, we the legal team has

Analysis Of The Sum Of Our Days By Isabel Allende
Write what should not be forgotten Isabel Allende, she is one of the most important latin writers in the
world. With that being said, a well known writer has a great responsibility of advocating us the people
making a change in the world to write by using powerful literary devices such as the creation of
Magical Realism.
For example, Isabel Allende s memoir The Sum Of Our Days depicts the unbearable pain towards the
death of her daughter and at the same time emphasizing her development of a Mental illness called
depression.(Allende 19). While also demonstrating how nonexistent the fsupport for mental illnesses
are in this time period.(Allende 45)

(Allende 19 20)A contrasting theme that I found in the The House Of Spirits is Civilization Vs.
Barbarity and The struggle between classes.(Allende 10 12)Which means that even though both
novels promoted All Rights for Women they gave us a different outlook, because of the way these
events were placed. In my first novel Isabel joined a group with other women and made sure the
community needed to hear their voices, while on the other hand in my second novel instead of women
being the secondary character it was opposite and the men are secondary. Now these themes are
contrasting due to the time period in which both the novels were written in.
In Addition, these themes have taught me a valuable lesson that we women can t be tearing eachother
down to make ourselves better. We women have the same obstacles why are we going to trip one
another when we all should be succeeding in a dreadful society of Men will always be better .Instead
of competing with one another we should be creating a powerful movements to help younger girls

Descriptive Animal Animals
A few years ago, me and my Mom went to a fall exotic animal auction, which took place over by
Pierz. It was mid October sothe mornings had a bite to them and the days were cool. We woke up at
6:00 in the morning so we could get our rabbits, which we were bringing to the auction to sell, settled
in their cages. We had filled each cage with hay the night before so they would be warm for the ride
there and for the time they d be stuck sitting in their cages. After we loaded them up, we headed to the
auction. Once we arrived at the auction, we brought the bunnies over to the people who tagged their
cages and brought them out to the barn to be stacked up next to other cages. The other cages were
filled with exotic birds and some other rabbits. In some of the pens inside the auction barn, they had
pigs, goats, sheep, and emus. The outside pens had a variety of cow breeds like the shaggy highlanders
and brahmas. There were also horses, ponies, alpacas, buffalo, and llamas. We alway arrive early, so
people are still coming in with animals they would be auctioning off that day. My Mom and I went
into the auction barn to see if they had anything interesting out there that we might like to acquire. As
we walked through the barn, we saw some golden pheasants and some peacocks, so my mom wrote
their tag numbers down on her mini notebook that she brought along with her. We also checked out
the rabbits that other people had brought to see if there were any that we were interested in.

According to Davis Bowman (2015)one potential limitation in the current study is related to language,
in that participants utilized words such as overweight, obese, fat, heavy, and large interchangeably to
refer to body size and/or weight. An additional limitation is related to the sample used within this
study (Davis Bowman, 2015). After examining the identified topic I feel that this qualitative grounded
theory research approach was conducted and is cohesive to the identified topic. References Davis, H.

The Role Of Advertising In The 1920 s
During the 1920 s, advertisement has changed in many aspects of American culture. Although the
concept of advertising has existed in the United States since the establishment of the thirteen colonies,
the American advertisement became what it is today as in a result of the 1920 s. During that time,
most of propaganda techniques, that were used in modern times, were officially established and
perfected. However, advertisers find great accomplishments with the different techniques such as
psychology of advertisement, brand consciousness, therapeutic ethic, and even the use of women
image use on consumers that will master mind the advertisement culture.
The two ads have a very different interesting factor of using women to sell their product by creating a
psychological aspect to costumers so it will enhance their product of getting sold. Before
advertisement became to effect tremendously in the American culture in 1920 s, Americans were
going through ambivalence when they were categorized in functional groups such as the old middle
class and the new middle class. The old middle class believed that hard work is good for the body and
mind because Americans were working longer hours for less money compared to the new middle class
that have great opportunities to work new jobs and have satisfaction doing the job while being paid
well. Since America has changed to a new middle class evolution, the economy and social status has
shifted tremendously by creating new job opportunities

Essay on Midaq Alley
The theme of Midaq Alley cuts to the heart of Arab society. Namely, it shows how a group of
characters living in the same slum neighborhood responds to the combined promise and threat of
Western influenced modernization. Midaq Alley is about the Egyptian residents of a hustling, packed
back alley in Cairo in the 1940 s. The attempts of several residents to escape the alley and move up in
status end with dreams broken and unfulfilled. The opening sentences of Midaq Alley points to a
world bypassed by history: Many things combine to show that Midaq Alley is one of the gems of
times gone by and that it once shone forth like a flashing star in the history of Cairo. Which Cairo do I

(Beattie 190) Even though he has been reciting poems for the last twenty years, his time has come and
history has passed him by. Of all the people in the neighborhood who are yearning for an escape from
tradition and the poverty that seems to be its permanent handmaiden, none stands out more than the
young and beautiful Hamida who is the novel s central character. Living with her adoptive mother, the
matchmaker Umm Hamida, she sneers at the prospective husbands who would be the ostensible
pathway toward a more prosperous future. They are all nonentities. The young Hamida envies women
who have broken free of traditional bonds, especially the Jewish factory girls. She tells her mother, If
you had seen the factory girls! You should just see those Jewish girls who go to work. They all go
about in nice clothes. Well, what is the point of life then if we can t wear what we want? (Mahfouz 27)
In the 1930 s Cairo faced a different kind of Westernization. Italy and Germany invaded Egypt. They
offered an alternative lifestyle with more modern assets such as electricity and running water. (Lewis

fifth of the population belonged to minorities. Jews, Greeks, Italians, British, and French where all in

Sacrifice In Margaret Atwood s Spelling
The term sacrifice can provoke different connotations, whether it is through religion, or giving
something up for someone else, or and offering. Regardless, sacrifices have become a staple in culture
throughout history, and the meaning has shifted and grown with time. In Margaret Atwood s poem,
Spelling images of women and sacrifice become a prevalent part. The poem speaks to women who
have made sacrifices and the literal sacrifices that women have become through the course of history.
Atwood, through the images and tales of sacrifice, exposes the oppression of women as authors and as
mothers, and more specifically through the act of language and writing. In the second stanza of the
poem, the narrator of Spelling poses the question of how many women have sacrificed having
daughters, in order to pursue their careers as writers, as well as the action needed for a women writer
to accomplish this: I wonder how many women denied themselves daughters, closed themselves in
rooms, drew the curtains so that they could mainline words. (7 11) With ... Show more content on

Comparing Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol Essay
Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol. Two and Martin Duberman s Gay in the Fifties look
into the everyday life of gay males in the post World War II Era. While World War II increased
freedom for men to sexually explore within the male community, post World War II extended the
freedom of exploration but also created a subsequent backlash against homosexual practices. Vining
and Duberman s diaries document an extension of gay freedoms in the post World War II period.
Although Vining and Duberman give contrasting accounts of their lives as gay males in the postwar
period, common themes could be drawn in the form of friendships, sexual activity, relationships, and
backlash by heteronormative society. Vining had a social sphere consisting of predominantly
homosexuals due to his metropolitan location. Vining, a gay male living in Manhattan, had a very
complex social life that consisted mainly of gay, white men. Vining frequently went to the theater,
parties, and dinner with his gay friends, and he would constantly be in contact with at least one of his
friends (Vining Diary, p. 9, February 5 1947). World War II placed men in all male, close quarters and
allowed them to sexually explore, so men in the postwar period sought an extension of this freedom to
explore. Fortunately, cities in the postwar period afforded men this continuation (Allan Berube,
Coming Out Under Fire). Rather than being trapped in a small town with community policing, cities

The Importance Of Fate In Oedipus At Colonus
A common debate that still rages today is whether we a a species have free will or if some divine
source, some call it fate, controls our destiny. With all the oracles and talk of prophecies, it s obvious
that there is some divine intention in Oedipus. First, in Oedipus at Colonus, there is oracle at Delphi
that tells Oedipus s parents and then himself that he will kill his father and marry his mother. While
free choices, such as Oedipus s decision to pursue knowledge of his identity, are significant, fate is
responsible for Oedipus s incest and many of the other most critical and devastating events of the play.
By elevating the importance of fate, Sophocles suggests that characters cannot be fully responsible for
their actions. It becomes difficult, for example, to blame Oedipus for marrying his mother given his
ignorance. Oedipus is known for being a smart dude. After all, he was the only guy around who could
figure out the riddle of the Sphinx. Unfortunately, for a large portion of his life he also lacks some
significant information. If he d known who his real parents were, he could ve avoided some seriously
unfortunate situations. You have to hand it to Oedipus, though, even when he s beginning to get the
gist of the horrible truth, he doesn t stop searching for it. In the end, you could see Oedipus as
representing all of humanity and our quest to understand the truth of ourselves and our place in the
universe. In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, the character Macbeth most values power because he
was willing to kill his relative and god appointed King Duncan, and his best friend Banquo to obtain
and keep the throne. Macbeth along with Oedipus is surging for power. Though he finds it, Macbeth
also believes he should constantly follow the deadly plot that the twisted witches set out for him. In
Act 1 Macbeth and his trusted friend Banquo cross paths with the witches unknowing that they give
away their future. Third Witch. Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none: So all hail, Macbeth and
Banquo! First Witch. Banquo and Macbeth, all hail! (Macbeth Act 1 Scene 3). At this point Macbeth
has already rewinded the words in his mind over and over again. Dumbstruck, he is set up this large
scale plan to murder his

What American Ideal Sets Our Country Apart As Unique And...
What American ideal sets our country apart as unique and all its own, different from all other countries
in the world? The idea of true liberty, or freedom from oppression within society (Oxford Dictionary),
can be seen throughout American culture. This quality, however, has not always been equally
demonstrated to all groups of people. Ever since the founding of the country, the African American
community has strived for liberty and equality in society. After being pushed down into the chains of
slavery, they began to rise and fight for what was rightfully theirs through the blood, sweat, and tears
of many. The American ideal of liberty has gradually expanded and provided new opportunities for the
once enslaved community of African Americans; this expansion has been the result of the lifelong
efforts and struggles of members of that community like Olaudah Equiano, Frederick Douglass, Mr.
Ryder, W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington. Olaudah Equiano grew up as a free boy in Africa.
In his narrative, he defined liberty when describing his village as celebrating every great event... in
public dances, which [were] accompanied with songs and music suited to the occasion (Equiano 356).
Before Africans were enslaved, they were a free race in their own land. The native Africans
understood liberty as the ability to govern themselves and hold their livelihood in their own hands.
This all changed for Equiano when one day captors seized [him]... and ran off with [him] into the

The End Of World War I Enhanced Americans
The end of World War I enhanced Americans confidence in their country as well as in themselves. The
1920s brought about flappers, the Charleston, and a radical turn of the century. During these 10 years,
society s disposition began to change to fit the newer, more youthful movements. The Harlem
Renaissance caused an uproar of newfound interest in literature, music, art, and black culture. Jazz
music became popular, more black writers such as Zora Neale Hurston came to prominence, and
dancers like Josephine Baker shook and shimmied their way to fame. The Prohibition movement also
came to pass, which made the manufacture, sale, and drinking of alcohol illegal, though not everyone
adhered to this policy. The fashion styles and dances of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By 1925, people were able to hear about the latest fashions on the radio and see them in the movies.
This influenced them to buy what was considered trendy . Newspapers and magazines such as Vanity
Fair and Vogue began printing ads and columns about fashion. What a person would wear would
determine their place on the social ladder, even if they weren t born into that position. A distinct look
was known as the flapper .
Flappers
Flappers were women of the new decade who were known to assert themselves in society and began
to create their own identities. They started to drink and smoke in public, and talked about sex openly,
all of which were highly frowned upon during this time. While smoking, a woman might wear a
Turkish inspired smoking suit along with a turban. They began cutting their hair shorter into bobs,
which was often considered boyish. Fashion designer Coco Chanel and actress Louise Brooks helped
to popularize this look. The style became the staple hairstyle of the flapper. Aspects of menswear were
also inserted into women s fashion, with looks such as tailored vests and pants, but were prohibited in
some areas. This boyish look was often referred to as the garconne look.
By 1925, dresses had become shorter than ever, coming up higher above the ankle. They also had
longer waists, becoming more reminiscent of little girl s dresses in previous years. Because of the
shorter length, garters also became more popular among women.

Essay on The Coquette
The Coquette, written by Hannah Webster Foster in 1797, chronicles the life of an affluent woman in
the 18th century. There are a few themes that are presented throughout the whole novel:
correspondence, sexual freedom, and ideal womanhood. Elizabeth Whitman has been an icon of
American history since the 19th century because of her bravery and contempt for the caged position of
women in society. It is stated that the tombstone of Elizabeth Whitman is a popular tourist attraction;
her grave was a popular destination for New England travelers, who beat paths to the far corner of
Danvers s Old South Cemetery through the entire nineteenth century. (Waterman) The Coquette was
loosely based on the story of Elizabeth Whitman, born in 1752 ... Show more content on

The epistolary style of The Coquette allows the reader to see both sides of the story and see things that
might not otherwise be apparent. For instance, in The Coquette, we are following the flirtatious
excursions of Eliza and occasionally we get an insight into what General Sanford s views. The trickery
of Sanford is hidden until we read his letter to Mr. Deighton where he states, but I fancy this young
lady is a coquette; and if so, I shall avenge my sex by retaliating the mischiefs she mediates against us.
(Coquette, location 407) The theme of correspondence becomes apparent from this point because it
shows the reader that women can be naïve to the intentions of others. This plays out throughout the
novel in many ways through the actions of Eliza and the reactions of Boyer and Sanford. Eliza spends
much of her time writing to friends, attempting to persuade them that she is not a coquette. This is
where the theme of sexual freedom and liberation comes into play. The Coquette is flooded with
examples of sexuality and sexual repression. The biggest argument given by the novel is that women
should be sexually pure and have no desires, as is the definition of the ideal Court Lady presented in
The Book of the Courtier published by Balclesar Castiglione in 1523. The ideal lady, now in her wish
to be thought good and pure, this lady must not be so coy, or appear so to abhor gay company or any
talk that is a little loose, as to withdraw as soon as she

Theme Of The Arundel Tomb By Philip Larkins
The Arundel Tomb is a poem warren by Philip Larkins, published in 1964 alongside other poems
entitled the Whitsun wedding. The poem consists of several stylistic devices and illustrates a tomb for
two married people in love. Individuals in love are members of the Arundel loyal family buried in the
cathedral. Notably, the stylistic devices in the poem are aimed at developing a sustainable and a
sensitive explanation of the scripture, which is followed by a gloomy and a sardonic reflection aimed
at revealing the real situation and truthfully. The poem discusses the relationships between two
relationships found in the tomb to illustrate lies that are developed from love and how the relationship
is portrayed in a false manner. On the image, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first stanza, the first line it states that their faces blurred to explain and give the reader an
oversight of the age of the tomb. The period in which the couple lived together and how they
expressed love towards each other is revealed through corrosion of stone. Corroded stones are also
used as a metaphor to show how their love and feeling had eroded just as the tombstone. The couple
lay on each other s side to denote equality between the couple, with their faces being blurred and have
become unrecognizable as the time passes, striping off their identical nature. The attire is also barely
visible where the woman is wearing stiff folded dress while the man wears a jointed armor suit. Two
little dog s layat their feet to represent loyalty, faithfulness and companionship which are the main
theme that the tomb attempt to illustrate about the couple. The tomb is barely plain and it s hard to
catch the attention of the observer, unless he/ she focus on the duke left hand holding the right hand of
the right hand glove. The right hand holds the right hand of the princess to show the sign of eternal
faithfulness and love even after their death. The author of the poem is astonished by the artwork that
displays the tender of affection and eternal love as long as their tomb, live love with continue to
endure between them (Larkin 158) The author of the poem points out that the aim of the

Negotiation Reflection
Negotiation is one of the most common approaches used to make decisions and manage disputes. It is
also the major building block for many other alternative dispute resolution procedures. According to
Christopher W (2012), negotiation is the principal way that people redefine an old relationship that is
not working to their satisfaction or establish a new relationship where none existed before. Because
negotiation is such a common problem solving process, it is in everyone s interest to become familiar
with negotiating dynamics and skills. This section is designed to identify what worked well and not
well in the negotiation. In addition, to present strategies that generally makes the negotiation more

We should be prepared. Also, we need to hold firm to our principles. Do not forget we have something
the supplier wants; they need us as much as we need them. When something is important to us, stick
to our guns. Suppliers will respect us for it. Moreover, we do not be intimidated. We do not
automatically accept the contract terms a supplier suggests/offers us. Remember that it is their job to
get the best possible outcome for their company. However, that is our job too. Furthermore,
acknowledging the strengths in the supplier s proposal or positive past performances before
identifying weaknesses can make them more receptive to considering our point of view. Additionally,
we have to Control the Negotiations. We have to leading the agenda, tabling the objectives, and
control the pace of the meeting all help to assert our position in the negotiation process. Consequently,
negotiation is a process that can be approached in many ways. No matter what strategy we choose,
success lies in how well we prepared. The key to negotiating a beneficial outcome is the negotiators
ability to consider all the elements of the situation carefully and to identify and think through the
options. At the same time, negotiators must be able to keep events in perspective and be as fair and
honest as circumstance allows. Because a common ground or interest has brought the parties to the
negotiating table, a negotiator can benefit by trying to capitalize on this common

My Experience At University Of Melbourne
I have been a student at University of Melbourne for 4 semesters, and over the commerce course of
my study I have developed and grown more than I thought possible. Business Case Analysis has not
only given me great experience, but also helped me boost my skills and knowledge through the
semester through interactive learning and teamwork. In this course, I have learned how to approach a
problem, particularly in business sector, while also professionally maintaining collaborative work in
teams. This reflection will firstly analyse my experience in solving cases, and as I go along, I
recognized my strengths and weaknesses from my team members and myself. After that, I will discuss
my skills that have developed during the course and its impact to my future career as business
practitioner. At the end of the reflection, further improvement of the course will be considered. I
remember the first and second class, the feeling of being hit with the harsh and abrupt reality that I
need to work absolutely hard this semester. But at that time, I was not afraid. Instead, I feel challenged
and enthusiastic for what I need to overcome in this subject. I read several cases from international
case competition and compare the best solutions from the winner of that competition, with an
intention to be more prepared for the first case. For the first case, our group faced a difficult challenge
in identifying the strategy to unfold the issue of death spiral for Vector Limited. The energy

Human Gender Roles
Food is one of the important needs to survive. In addition, in 400 B.C. the Greek physician
Hippocrates found the food effect on the human body. During the Victorian era, the nutrition was
developed into the scientific and medically. Therefore, people started to create the health products and
realized that they should watch what they are eating for their better quality of the lives. Today, people
can classify as two types of eating, which are the emotional and physical eating. This paper will cover
the different kinds of eating and how gender roles, mood, and hormones can effect on a person s body.

People have the hunger hormones, which are leptin and ghrelin. Leptin decreases the appetite, but
ghrelin increases it. Ghrelin is produced from the stomach, and it raises with a person who has the

females, especially, when they are on the different phases of menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Ladies

progesterone gets increased. The estrogens have three different types: Estrone, estradiol, and estriol.
Estradiol is most involved hormones in fullness. Additionally, women eat sweets and salty food when
their estrogen level is low. Moreover, the pregnant woman should eat good food, which includes the

Comparison Of Chipped Beef And Spinach
Chipped Beef on Toast with Cured Beef and Spinach ★ SERVES 4 ★ This was one of my childhood
favorites. I remember my mom making it when I was very young; I d eat the salty dried beef straight
out of the bag and drive my mother crazy. I hadn t thought about it for years until we were on a visit to
rela tives one recent summer and my aunt made it again for my kids. I was excited by the nostalgia
and the simplicity and by how comforting it was. As I watched my
Aunt Karen thicken milk with a slurry of cornstarch and water, I realized that this was a white gravy
with sliced cured beef over toast. So I gussied it up with good bresaola (salted and cured beef from
northern Italy), paired it with some crusty bread and some vinegary greens, and fell in love with it all

The Abolition Of Slavery And The Civil War
Throughout American history there have been numerous civil rights movements and shifts of thoughts
and beliefs. One of the largest and arguably the most impactful movement was the movement to end
slavery. America has always been divided on the issue, and even to this day there are harsh sentiments
between different ethnicities. America made an official decision on the matter following a brutal and
violent civil war. The Thirteenth Amendment was passed on January 31st, 1865 and read: Neither
slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been
duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. This
amendment followed Abraham Lincoln s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Senate actually passed the amendment in 1864, yet the House of Representatives did not. Through
Abraham Lincoln s efforts with the Republican party, the House eventually decided to pass the
amendment with a vote of 119 to 56 in January, 1865. This established the Thirteenth Amendment as
part of the U.S. Constitution, only needing ratification by three fourths of the states. It was officially
adopted on December 6, 1865 and was a Constitutional amendment. Of the remaining states, all but
three had ratified it by 1870. Delaware ratified it in 1901, while Kentucky and Mississippi did not
ratify it until the second half of the 20th century. Kentucky ratified the Thirteenth Amendment in 1976
and Mississippi did not ratify it until 1995 (History Net, n.d.). The inclusion of the Thirteenth
Amendment in the U.S. Constitution meant that this particular issue was widespread and was also very
controversial. It put an end to one of the bloodiest American conflicts and also established boundaries
that America was to be a free country where everyone is meant to be equal. The abolition of slavery
was necessary to patch a divided country and to free those who had been forced to spend their lives
working for the gain of others, simply because of their skin color. Its inclusion in the

Soccer Informative Speech Essay
Have you ever heard the saying, have you ever wanted something so much it hurt ? Well, when I say
it. I m talking about literally hurting. Your legs are so sore, it feels like you can t take another stride,
your so out of breath from chasing the ball around, and your so exhausted from last nights practice,
your bed seems to be the most attractive thing to you right now. Three hour practices of straight
running, push ups, and sit ups has its pros and cons. Even at times when you feel like you need a
break, pushing yourself through it is what makes you a better player. I choose to inform you on soccer

Understanding that and accepting it is a person with good sportsmanship. Where as if they were upset
at their teammates for not doing their part and getting overly upset at the other team for playing good
soccer is not good sportsmanship. At the end of the game, whether you have lost or have won you
always shake hands with the other team. It is always necessary to let the other team know that it was a
good well played game whatever the outcome was. A person with good sportsmanship would clearly
accept that fact. People that do have good sportsmanship are more easy to be around. It s almost like
they re carefree and just play soccer for the fun of the game and not just for the win. Don t get me
wrong, it is always better to win, but everyone loses at least once in his or her lives. Lastly, I think that
dedication is another key component to playing yet again, not just soccer, but any sport. Having a
teammate that isn t dedicated is like having an employee not show up to work every other day. You
need that person to be there to get the job done. If you miss days of practice or even games, those are
days that everyone is running an hour more than you and are gaining more endurance. It almost will
seem like you can see the players that aren t as dedicated on the field because they don t care as much.

Target Essay
Ads and commercials are on everything from the billboards you see going down the highway to the
ads you hear on the radio or TV. Every company uses them in different ways to try to appeal to
different audiences. Whether it s the older generations or the parents of newborn babies, all companies
try to appeal to people in order to sell their products. Target is a department store that has been around
since 1962 and they have grown and prospered ever since the beginning. Target is a branch off of the
Dayton Dry Goods Company started in 1902 by George Draper Dayton. Throughout the years the

Target is trying to make it easier on them by putting everything in one store. Men and women shop in
very different ways. Men are more likely to make a list and stick to and try to get in and out of class as
fast as possible. Women, however, are more likely to browse the aisles and look at everything that s in
the store rather than just what they need for themselves or the house at that moment (Wells). Target
shows the variety of items in their stores to help show the women in their store that different items that
they could find while browsing the store. By showing the different products, it helps make the women
want to go there because they can get away from the busyness of life by spending times wondering the
isles of Target. Not only can the women get away from the stressfulness of life, if they are in a rush
they can get everything they could need in one stop. Women make up over two thirds of the grocery
shoppers (Goodman). Of course, not all of these women are staying at home mom s or spouses so they
need to get their shopping done so that they can get back to the other parts of their lives. The same
way that Target is trying to appeal to women who like to browse when they shop, they are appealing to
those who need to get their shopping done in one quick stop. When showing all the grocery items

A Short Note On Linux, Windows And Freebsd
I/O Comparison between Linux, Windows and FreeBSD
Name
University
Executive Summary This study compares the I/O functionalities such as data structures, algorithms
and cryptograpy between Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD. Most importantly, the data structures used
in block and character devices for Windows and FreeBSD are also compared against those of Linux
operating system. With respect to I/O operations, this study specifically examines the different types
of devices, I/O scheduling, and so forth, and compares their implementation in Windows and FreeBSD
versus Linux.
Introduction
Generally, computer components are two fold, namely hardware and software components. The
hardware requires an operating system (OS) to manage and coordinate its software resources as well
as provide services for computer application programs [4]. Application programs that run in a
computer require an OS. In essense, the OS acts as a central host that handles hardware operation
details [4]. All computers are run by an OS of some type. Some of the most popular OS versions in the
market are Linux, Windows and FreeBSD [1]. Linux is an open source development and free software
whose source code can be freely used, redistributed and modified by third party OS developers. The
range of Windows Operating Systems are created by Microsoft Corporation. Unlike Linux, Windows
consists of proprietary closed sources [5]. FreeBSD is an advanced version of OS and runs on modern

John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
I. SUBJECT John Steinbeck s East of Eden centers on the Trask and Hamilton families in the year
1902 in the Salinas Valley, California. After growing up in Connecticut alongside his brother Charles
under the harsh parenting and rejection of his father, Adam Trask seeks to find happiness and peace.
He vows to be a better man than his father and feels the rolling valleys of California calling him. One
night, Cathy Ames crawls onto the doorstep of Adam and Charles home after her boyfriend attempted
to kill her. Adam cares for Cathy and soon falls in love with the woman she portrays herself to be. He
is unaware of her dark past and her evil motive to further herself in life. Charles is skeptical of Cathy
and wants her to leave their home. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through the opposition of one another that an absence of the love they so earnestly desire is bred.
Rejection is first present in Cyrus Trask s raising of his two sons, Adam and Charles. Cyrus utilizes a
harsh parenting style, one in which he trains his sons for the military from a young age. Charles excels
at the rigorous trainings, while Adam struggles and begins to develop a hatred for his father. As Cyrus
pushes Adam harder, a favoring of one son over the other is apparent. Cyrus favors Adam because he
feels he is the stronger and better son, I love you better. I always have...Else why would I have given
myself the trouble of hurting you? (Steinbeck 28). Charles feels rejected and works to gain his father s
approval, but Cyrus continues to favor Adam regardless of Charles efforts. It is due to this rejection
that Charles develops a sensitive and violent personality, Rage came first and then a coldness, a
possession; noncommittal eyes and a pleased smile and no voice at all, only a whisper. When that
happened murder was on the way (30). Charles violence and anger are a failing effort to fight for love,
which in return only makes him a broken man. Cathy Ames is an example of how rejection by one
woman can lead to the downfall of all those around her. Cathy was born an enigma and used this to
manipulate others. People were drawn to her out of curiosity so in return she lures them in and then
swiftly rejects them. They would

City Upon A Hill Essay
For the Puritans in the early New England colonies life was by no means easy, but there was the
possibility to expand their beliefs free from the persecution from Church of England. They had the
opportunity to create their ideal society under God with the bible as their law from which they would
define how to live. The Puritans set out to create their model society which could spread and cull the
impurities from the church. But how did these beliefs and goals ultimately effect their society? In the
book Give Me Liberty: An American History by Eric Foner he notes that: Puritanism, however, was
not simply a set of ideas but a state of mind, a zealousness in pursuing the true faith that alienated
many who held differing religious views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their society the Puritans based their lives, beliefs, and communities on what they deemed as God s
law and true word, the bible (Barger). Reading the bible was expected for the members of society, this
included women and children, which was often unheard of (Foner 66) at that time. With their lives
being restricted to the word of the bible this left very little leeway for anything other than what was
deemed acceptable, and this rigid way of life was another straw that led to the eventual troubles and
fervor that took over. The Puritans ultimate goal was for their ideal society, their City Upon A Hill, a
model Christian society. According to Dr. Terry Matthew in Puritanism in America They did not come
to this country to find a place to practice freedom of worship. Instead, they came to find a place where
their true religion could flourish. They wanted to influence more than just their communities and those
surrounding, they wanted to influence the Church of England and further in the hopes of purifying
those that had strayed from what they deemed as the true and righteous path all by showing the way
by their hard fast examples. These goals that the Puritans strived to achieve both at home and abroad
placed a great amount of stress on the people and community. They were always working for their
model society and for them their true leader was God. Puritans believed in the

However, successful and effective implementation of these techniques depend on a number of factors key among them being organizational structure, organizational culture as well as the decision making strategies within an organization. Organizational structure plays an important role in the implementation of different types of strategies including cybersecurity. This is because the structure of an organization establishes a clear understanding of the processes required to achieve a given strategy. Organizational structure describes an entity s internal pattern of communication, authority and relationships. It clearly outlines the manner in which power and authority within an organization is granted and shared as well as the role that different members of an organization should play. Organization structures often vary from one organization to another. This variation often depends on the size of the business, the industry within which the company is operating in to mention but a few. This means that the cybersecurity functions and mandate often vary from one organization to another. Implementation of cybersecurity is likely to be successful in organizations whose structure is formal and well defined as opposed to those with an informal structure. Within a formal organizational structure, the roles and responsibilities of organizational leaders and other members of the organizations are usually well articulated. A formal ... It was also the most horrifying. concentration camps were camps where people were detained without trial. They were kept in extremely harsh conditions and without any rights. Concentration camps were an atrocious aspect of World War II because of what happened to the people that lived there and simply because of the reason they were there. Concentration camps were camps where people were detained without trial and were tortured by the Nazis. Children born in the camps were generally killed on the spot (auschwitz.dk). As to say that innocent children were brutally murdered for not being able to do tasks meant for men. Prisoners were fed a small cup of watery soup, a piece of bread, and imitation coffee and sometimes not at all (www.theholocaustexplained.org). Prisoners were starved and even to death for being unliked. Nazi Germany exploited the labor of the occupied peoples from the onset of the occupation. More that fourteen million people and 2.5 million prisoners of war were transported to Germany for labor (yadvashem.org). Nazis took many occupied people and prisoners to yield other camps with prisoners to do their dirty work, simply because of the hatred for people different from themselves. Concentration camps established a foundation for Hitler s hatred. These camps may have not been a direct cause for World War II, but they did set a sturdy base for theNazi s to take control and they will always be a memory of the people we lost and how they are part of why we have freedom today. What is wrong? asked Saban. I believe we are being followed. What are you going to do? Be quiet and let me think. Marcel grabbed a pistol from his waistband, flipped off the safety, and held it in his hand as a dark colored sedan sped close to the rear of their auto. One particular skill I learned as a leader was how to fill roles that the group is deficient in, either by taking them on myself or assigning them to others. This made the group have balance so that difficulties in decision making were reduced. • 7. Frontier Development in the Oregon Territory Frontier Development in the Oregon Territory Introduction Faragher, Buhle, Cziyron and Armitage ( 2010) note the westward development into the new territories of the United States usually took place in three stages; trade, settlement and statehood. The speed at which this expansion occurred reinforced America s sense of themselves as a pioneering people. This experience worked to create a belief that the United States was a nation of adventurous, optimistic, and democratic people (p. 357). Newspaperman John O Sullivan wrote that Americans had a God given right to bring the benefits of democracy to other more backward people, and accomplish this by force if necessary. He argued this was the nation s manifest destiny. This belief became widespread and in conjunction with a missionary fervor and racist attitudes was a powerful motivating drive to the Pacific (p. 357). Discussion Trade In Oregon development was first predicated on trade between Spanish, British, Russian, and American ships and region s Indian peoples for sea otter skins. This period lasted from roughly 1780 to 1810. During this period of frontier inclusion there were many, often sexual contacts between the native inhabitants and the traders (p.360). Settlement Fur trappers, their Indian wives and their families composed the first permanent European settlers in the region. • 8. How Children Acquire Aggressive Reponses Childhood Aggression Many studies found frustration, various drugs, beliefs, traits and provocation are some influences that effect childhood aggression. Archer (1991) concentrated on biological influence such as norepinephrine, serotonin, cortisol and testosterone. This brief will focus on several theories that elevate aggression and can be positively modified by family and environment. Aggression was defined by Volavka Citrome (1999) as, a physical behaviour that causes psychological or physical harm or damage to objects or living beings. Aggression is often divided into two types one being instrumental, or proactive aggression and is pre meditated and frequently goal directed resulting from a lack of emotional sensitivity. In contrast, reactive aggression stems from excess emotional sensitivity and is developed through negative experiences and emotions including anger and anxiety (Tremblay et al., 2005). According to (Bandura, 1983, 2001; Mischel, 1973; Mischel Shoda, 1995), children acquire aggressive responses; either by observing others or by direct experience and this is similar to how they learn any form of social behaviour. Bandura (1983) examined this social learning theory and explained how the observational learning processes and modelling the behaviour of others can escalate the acquisition of aggressive behaviours by children in certain situations. This theory is closely associated to Huesmann s (1986, 1998) script theory. Huesmann (1986, 1998) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once we arrived at the auction, we brought the bunnies over to the people who tagged their cages and brought them out to the barn to be stacked up next to other cages. The other cages were filled with exotic birds and some other rabbits. In some of the pens inside the auction barn, they had pigs, goats, sheep, and emus. The outside pens had a variety of cow breeds like the shaggy highlanders and brahmas. There were also horses, ponies, alpacas, buffalo, and llamas. We alway arrive early, so people are still coming in with animals they would be auctioning off that day. My Mom and I went into the auction barn to see if they had anything interesting out there that we might like to acquire. Although the concept of advertising has existed in the United States since the establishment of the thirteen colonies, the American advertisement became what it is today as in a result of the 1920 s. During that time, most of propaganda techniques, that were used in modern times, were officially established and perfected. However, advertisers find great accomplishments with the different techniques such as psychology of advertisement, brand consciousness, therapeutic ethic, and even the use of women image use on consumers that will master mind the advertisement culture. The two ads have a very different interesting factor of using women to sell their product by creating a psychological aspect to costumers so it will enhance their product of getting sold. Before advertisement became to effect tremendously in the American culture in 1920 s, Americans were going through ambivalence when they were categorized in functional groups such as the old middle class and the new middle class. The attempts of several residents to escape the alley and move up in status end with dreams broken and unfulfilled. The opening sentences of Midaq Alley points to a world bypassed by history: Many things combine to show that Midaq Alley is one of the gems of times gone by and that it once shone forth like a flashing star in the history of Cairo. Living with her adoptive mother, the matchmaker Umm Hamida, she sneers at the prospective husbands who would be the ostensible pathway toward a more prosperous future. They are all nonentities. • 15. Sacrifice In Margaret Atwood s Spelling The term sacrifice can provoke different connotations, whether it is through religion, or giving something up for someone else, or and offering. Regardless, sacrifices have become a staple in culture throughout history, and the meaning has shifted and grown with time. In Margaret Atwood s poem, Spelling images of women and sacrifice become a prevalent part. The poem speaks to women who have made sacrifices and the literal sacrifices that women have become through the course of history. Atwood, through the images and tales of sacrifice, exposes the oppression of women as authors and as mothers, and more specifically through the act of language and writing. In the second stanza of the poem, the narrator of Spelling poses the question of how many women have sacrificed having daughters, in order to pursue their careers as writers, as well as the action needed for a women writer to accomplish this: I wonder how many women denied themselves daughters, closed themselves in rooms, drew the curtains so that they could mainline words. • 16. Comparing Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol Essay Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol. Two and Martin Duberman s Gay in the Fifties look into the everyday life of gay males in the post World War II Era. While World War II increased freedom for men to sexually explore within the male community, post World War II extended the freedom of exploration but also created a subsequent backlash against homosexual practices. Vining and Duberman s diaries document an extension of gay freedoms in the post World War II period. Although Vining and Duberman give contrasting accounts of their lives as gay males in the postwar period, common themes could be drawn in the form of friendships, sexual activity, relationships, and backlash by heteronormative society. Vining had a social sphere consisting of predominantly homosexuals due to his metropolitan location. Vining, a gay male living in Manhattan, had a very complex social life that consisted mainly of gay, white men. Vining frequently went to the theater, parties, and dinner with his gay friends, and he would constantly be in contact with at least one of his friends (Vining Diary, p. 9, February 5 1947). World War II placed men in all male, close quarters and allowed them to sexually explore, so men in the postwar period sought an extension of this freedom to explore. • 18. The Importance Of Fate In Oedipus At Colonus A common debate that still rages today is whether we a a species have free will or if some divine source, some call it fate, controls our destiny. With all the oracles and talk of prophecies, it s obvious that there is some divine intention in Oedipus. First, in Oedipus at Colonus, there is oracle at Delphi that tells Oedipus s parents and then himself that he will kill his father and marry his mother. While free choices, such as Oedipus s decision to pursue knowledge of his identity, are significant, fate is responsible for Oedipus s incest and many of the other most critical and devastating events of the play. By elevating the importance of fate, Sophocles suggests that characters cannot be fully responsible for their actions. It becomes difficult, for example, to blame Oedipus for marrying his mother given his ignorance. Oedipus is known for being a smart dude. After all, he was the only guy around who could figure out the riddle of the Sphinx. Unfortunately, for a large portion of his life he also lacks some significant information. If he d known who his real parents were, he could ve avoided some seriously unfortunate situations. You have to hand it to Oedipus, though, even when he s beginning to get the gist of the horrible truth, he doesn t stop searching for it. In the end, you could see Oedipus as representing all of humanity and our quest to understand the truth of ourselves and our place in the universe. In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, the character Macbeth most values power because he was willing to kill his relative and god appointed King Duncan, and his best friend Banquo to obtain and keep the throne. Macbeth along with Oedipus is surging for power. Though he finds it, Macbeth also believes he should constantly follow the deadly plot that the twisted witches set out for him. In Act 1 Macbeth and his trusted friend Banquo cross paths with the witches unknowing that they give away their future. Third Witch. • 20. What American Ideal Sets Our Country Apart As Unique And... What American ideal sets our country apart as unique and all its own, different from all other countries in the world? The idea of true liberty, or freedom from oppression within society (Oxford Dictionary), can be seen throughout American culture. This quality, however, has not always been equally demonstrated to all groups of people. Ever since the founding of the country, the African American community has strived for liberty and equality in society. After being pushed down into the chains of slavery, they began to rise and fight for what was rightfully theirs through the blood, sweat, and tears of many. The American ideal of liberty has gradually expanded and provided new opportunities for the once enslaved community of African Americans; this expansion has been the result of the lifelong efforts and struggles of members of that community like Olaudah Equiano, Frederick Douglass, Mr. Ryder, W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington. Olaudah Equiano grew up as a free boy in Africa. In his narrative, he defined liberty when describing his village as celebrating every great event... in public dances, which [were] accompanied with songs and music suited to the occasion (Equiano 356). Before Africans were enslaved, they were a free race in their own land. The native Africans understood liberty as the ability to govern themselves and hold their livelihood in their own hands. The 1920s brought about flappers, the Charleston, and a radical turn of the century. During these 10 years, society s disposition began to change to fit the newer, more youthful movements. The Harlem Renaissance caused an uproar of newfound interest in literature, music, art, and black culture. Jazz music became popular, more black writers such as Zora Neale Hurston came to prominence, and dancers like Josephine Baker shook and shimmied their way to fame. The Prohibition movement also came to pass, which made the manufacture, sale, and drinking of alcohol illegal, though not everyone adhered to this policy. The fashion styles and dances of the ... Newspapers and magazines such as Vanity Fair and Vogue began printing ads and columns about fashion. What a person would wear would determine their place on the social ladder, even if they weren t born into that position. A distinct look was known as the flapper . Flappers Flappers were women of the new decade who were known to assert themselves in society and began to create their own identities. They started to drink and smoke in public, and talked about sex openly, all of which were highly frowned upon during this time. While smoking, a woman might wear a Turkish inspired smoking suit along with a turban. They began cutting their hair shorter into bobs, which was often considered boyish. Fashion designer Coco Chanel and actress Louise Brooks helped to popularize this look. The style became the staple hairstyle of the flapper. Aspects of menswear were also inserted into women s fashion, with looks such as tailored vests and pants, but were prohibited in some areas. This boyish look was often referred to as the garconne look. By 1925, dresses had become shorter than ever, coming up higher above the ankle. They also had longer waists, becoming more reminiscent of little girl s dresses in previous years. Because of the shorter length, garters also became more popular among women. ... • 22. Essay on The Coquette The Coquette, written by Hannah Webster Foster in 1797, chronicles the life of an affluent woman in the 18th century. There are a few themes that are presented throughout the whole novel: correspondence, sexual freedom, and ideal womanhood. Elizabeth Whitman has been an icon of American history since the 19th century because of her bravery and contempt for the caged position of women in society. It is stated that the tombstone of Elizabeth Whitman is a popular tourist attraction; her grave was a popular destination for New England travelers, who beat paths to the far corner of Danvers s Old South Cemetery through the entire nineteenth century. The epistolary style of The Coquette allows the reader to see both sides of the story and see things that might not otherwise be apparent. For instance, in The Coquette, we are following the flirtatious excursions of Eliza and occasionally we get an insight into what General Sanford s views. The trickery of Sanford is hidden until we read his letter to Mr. Deighton where he states, but I fancy this young lady is a coquette; and if so, I shall avenge my sex by retaliating the mischiefs she mediates against us. (Coquette, location 407) The theme of correspondence becomes apparent from this point because it shows the reader that women can be naïve to the intentions of others. This plays out throughout the novel in many ways through the actions of Eliza and the reactions of Boyer and Sanford. Eliza spends much of her time writing to friends, attempting to persuade them that she is not a coquette. This is where the theme of sexual freedom and liberation comes into play. The Coquette is flooded with examples of sexuality and sexual repression. The biggest argument given by the novel is that women should be sexually pure and have no desires, as is the definition of the ideal Court Lady presented in The Book of the Courtier published by Balclesar Castiglione in 1523. The ideal lady, now in her wish to be thought good and pure, this lady must not be so coy, or appear so to abhor gay company or any talk that is a little loose, as to withdraw as soon as she ...
