The Mayan Civilization Essay
The Maya civilization was a unique development in history that challenges the common perspective
of humanity and society. It s very classification as a civilization may confuse those who think of a
civilization as a cohesive empire because it was quite fragmentary instead. An isolate built upon the
tribal cultures of Central and South America, the Maya culture operated on a different
understanding of reality and the world than did the Eurasian communities that intermingled and
possessed knowledge of each other. One must take this into account in order to understand the
workings of the Maya. Parallels in their development to other cultures around the world are
testament to the nature of the species Homo sapiens that seems to emerge in any environment....

Hence, Maya beliefs were not a religion but a religiosity that permeated everyday behaviors.
Although the Maya appealed to the gods, their idols were their ancestors who established the
traditions that had allegedly allowed them to thrive. Children were expected to follow the lead of
their elders, and failure to do so was punished harshly. In fact, adults who did not perform the
rituals expected of them could be punished too. Right behavior in Maya culture was orderly
behavior that did not disturb the balance of Mayan

Essay On The Prelude By William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth conveys an unique joy through verse. It is a delight which includes
information and good truths, which would illuminate and lift up the peruser s sentiments. Verse
ought to try to bring about a significant improvement, smarter and more content. The capacity of
verse is to spread the message of co relationship and affection. Wordsworth is exceptionally
viewed as a writer of Nature. Nature is a wellspring of knowledge and he is an extraordinary
supporter of this hypothesis. For him a child living in the lap of Nature will become in good
stature. Wordsworth is the consecrated cleric of Nature and the verse of Nature thinks that its most

Wordsworth is worshipping Nature, but as Havens Raymond Dexter (1967) believes, this
worshipping is . . . not primarily for her own sake, but for her ministry . He is praying the spirit
that is lying behind Nature. This spirit is what nature herself guides the mind of the poet toward it.
In Tintern Abbey , the spirit of Nature inspires the poet with lofty thoughts that would lead to a
divine being that animates and activates everything. Nature is the source of mystical experience.
Here, he reaches his final view of Nature. Now he has complete trust in her,

The Characters Of Inanna
Ancient Sumerians built intelligent designs for the beginning civilizations in history, in the
region of Mesopotamia. What is now present day Iraq, was then socially formed by people who
learned a diversity of skills in it s development. Food is one of the most importantly defined means
for survival. In the book Inanna written by Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Kramer, there are stories
of a fertility goddess who patroned one of Sumers great city states named Uruk. This 5,000 year
old literature of ancient Sumer has given a literal and figurative outlook into its mythology. What
is understood from the period is that Inanna acquired the me s, or cosmic laws, from Enki to bring
to Uruk. Inanna s role in the myths is applying her powers to the life in Uruk, where her customs
are to protect her people.
Inanna, as a women, is known distinctively for her connection to fertility in an agrarian society.
In the first stories of Inanna s origins, she was predominantly proud of her sexual becoming,
Rejoicing at her wondrous vulva, the young woman Inanna applauded herself (Wolkstein 12).
Inanna yearned to bore good and prosperous aspects of life from the new opportunities she will
encounter as a mature women. This may mean she relates her sexual identity to the happiness of
Uruk. The people of Uruk are an agrarian society, so they knew how to bake bread, and make fine
linens from flax seed. If Inanna did not provide crops, despite the rapid progress they have made in
their unique jobs,

Paid Family Leave Case Study
After extending their paid parental leave, the U.S. office of Thomson Reuters decided to focus
on a friendly family policy that would benefit a broad range of employees, Paid Family Leave. To
argue the importance of focusing on this policy over other ones, they presented the following
points. First, the HR team argued that regardless of worker s age, they will eventually face a
circumstance that will require them to take off to provide care to a close relative. Secondly, the
company wants to remain competitive to attract and retain the best talent. According to the Bureau
of Labor Statistics, only 13% of U.S. employers provide this benefit (March 2016). With such little
support from companies, Thomson Reuters wants to take the initiative and lead on this HR
practice. Additionally, the HR team wants to emphasis and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The limitation with the current policy is that it does not provide support for long term situations or
chronic illnesses for any caregiving responsibility. Nor, the policy gives exclusive importance to
employees own health. At the early developing stages of the program, there was hesitation around
the possibility of workers using this benefit for the wrong reasons; however, previous experiences
have shown this is not the case. When employers were interviewed during the Appelbaum and
Milkman study (2011) concerning the CA paid family leave, 91% of them responded no concerning
if they aware of a time when their employees abused the state program. In the year 2016, only
106 TR employees used FML leave to care for a child, spouse, or a parent. The HR team
recognizes that employees use and apply for benefits when they actually need them. If anything,

Hair Extensions Research Paper
If you are thinking about getting extensions or if you already have extensions, it is important that
you use the right products and that you use them correctly in order to get the most out of your
extensions. Here are a few tips to guide you in the right direction when it comes to hair products
and your extensions.
Tip #1: Avoid Alcohol Based Products
The most important rule to remember when it comes to hair care products is to avoid using alcohol
based products. You can find out if a product has alcohol in it by looking at the ingredient list on
the back of any product you are interested in purchasing. Keep your eyes open not just for alcohol,
but for isopropyl, which is just more scientific term for alcohol.
You can find alcohol or isopropyl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remember to start brushing your extensions near the bottom, just like you do with your hair, and
slowly work your way up them.
Tilt Your Head Back: Once you get in the shower, get your hair wet first. Tilt your head back in
order to get it wet. Do not flip your head and your hair over; this will cause your extensions to get
tangled.
Apply Shampoo In Sections: Instead of scrubbing the shampoo into your hair, carefully apply it to
small sections, working from top to bottom, and gentle rub in the soap. This will help prevent
tangles.
Rinse: Finally, rinse the shampoo out of your hair. If any of your extensions got tangled in the
process, just use a wide toothed comb while you are still in the shower to carefully work out any
tangles.
Tip #3: Leave In Condition Is Okay
After you shampoo, you can apply leave in conditioner to your hair. Applying leave in conditioner
to your hair every couple of days will keep both your regular hair and your extensions look

Similarities Between Hinduism And Buddhism
Learning about both Hinduism and Buddhism, particularly about the art and architecture of both
cultures made me realize they are not that different as I thought first. Both cultures are beautiful
and rich, and if someone takes a deeper look can see that they are depending on each other.
Many people forget that Buddha was born into a Hindu society, and his views and beliefs which
led to a brand new culture are based on Hinduism. Of course I am not saying the two are the same
because that wouldn t make any sense. However, the similarities are visible, just the way
differences are visible too, and these things make both cultures so amazing. First I would like to
point out some of the similarities and differences between Hindu and Buddhist faiths which I think
are important to understand their art. Both religions put karma and reincarnation into the center of
believes. Both religions believe in several spiritual practices in attempts to get beyond the thinking
mind and into a state of relaxation and awareness. However, they do not share their gods, in
Hinduism they share their religion with many gods and goddesses, and in Buddhismthere is no god,
Buddha himself was a leader. Knowing the two cultures basic views and believes it is easier to
compare their art and architecture, since mostly they are based on the religions.
The first similarity which I think is very oblivious is the stupa. Stupas are present in both cultures
and the base for the temples in Hinduism and Buddhism

Ku Klux Klan Historiography
The main objective of a historiography paper is to research and define the distinct evolution of a
historical viewpoint on a certain event or subject matter. The Ku Klux Klan was established during
Reconstruction in 1866. Created as a vehicle for white Southern resistance against the Republican
Party, the Klan was a perpetrator of violence and aggression towards African Americans. The main
goals of the Klansmen were to overturn the Republication government of the South, drive African
Americans out of politics, control African American labor, and restore black subordination. Though
the Klan s goals maintained a similar structure throughout its reign, the historical perceptions of the
Ku Klux Klanas an organization and its origins have been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Branches of the Klan were instituted in nearly every Southern state making it difficult for
African Americans to maintain their positions of power. In an effort to maintain social order, the
Klan made its efforts to stop the assimilation of African Americans into society known. In
Chapter 15 of his book, The Tragic Era: The Revolution after Lincoln, Claude G. Bowers argues
that the Ku Klux Klan was an organization that used fear and a sense of mystery as a means of
controlling African Americans, its sense of mystery being its trademark. The Klan s mystery was
made up of eccentric costumes and code names for members that helped maintain the sense of
secrecy. The Klan, adorned in white robes and often referring to themselves as ghosts , used the
superstitious beliefs of African Americans in an effort to keep the newly freed slaves whom the
Klan believed were the primary crime committers out of society. The author states that because the
Klan was preventing African Americans from taking a more predominant role in society, their
efforts further resulted in a crime free environment. Because it s systematic tactics were said to be
decreasing the rape culture in southern society and increasing the positive attitudes of servants on
southern plantations, it appeared to white southerners that the Klan was making an effective and
conscious effort to regulate the social caste system of the time. The author argues that it was not
until the emergence of the Klan that both white men and women began to feel a sense of security.
A crime free environment was essential to Southern society at the time. A society with a distinct
social order was one that would produce the most effective economy. The following historians all
agree that the maintaining of social order was one of the primary reasons that the Klan was
established as an organization. Never

The Power Of The Prime Minister Has Too Much Power
Introduction One of the most powerful and influential members of the Canadian government is the
Prime Minster of Canada. It has been stated that the Prime Minister of Canada has far more power
within the Canadian system of government than the President of America has in the American
System (Caron, 2017). This excess power the Prime Minister has when compared to the President
of American shows the difference ranges of power top leaders can have in their specific country.
However, is the amount of power the Prime Minister has in Canadatoo much? To determine if the
Prime Minister has too much power there are a few things that need to be considered. The first is
the responsibilities of the Prime Minister and the power these responsibly give the position.
Looking at how much power the Prime Minister has in relation to the amount of responsibilities
placed on that government role will give insights into the necessities of that power. Next,
reviewing the history of powers the Prime Minister has over the years will show a timeline of a
gradual increase in power. Finally, to determine if the Prime Minister has too much power recent
events must be discussed in which the Prime Minister has abused their powers. To fully understand
how the amount of power the Prime Minister has can impact the government, there will be a focus
on one specific example of who calls elections throughout. Overall, in examining the responsibilities
and powers of the Prime Minister in relation to the

Informative Speech On Mayan Civil War
Good morning, my name is Maria Yalibat and I want to talk about the Guatemalan civil war.
This war took place for 36 years. It started in 1954 and a peace accords was signed in
1996.Guatemala s civil war was the bloodiest during 1978 1983. The mass murders conducted was
enough to be considered a genocide. My purpose today is to inform you of this war because the
United Statesplayed a big role in this, which led to inhumane murder, economic distress and
killing spree of innocent Mayans. To begin, the war started when the president at that time Jacobo
Arbenz was elected democratically. He wanted to redistribute land from the wealthy and the united
fruit company to allow poor farmers a chance to survive and have crops to be able to make a living.

They had been cheated and wanted their land back. Many Mayans supported them and felt that
they were their only hope. Soon they started saying that Mayas and guerillas were a huge threat
to society. According to, Beatriz Manz, more than 200,000 people were killed and 70 percent
were Mayan and 600 massacres occurred. They targeted Mayan women, children and men, they
beat them, raped them, humiliated them and burned them alive. The United States was a big
cause of why this got so big and gruesome. They supplied weapons and training according to the,
Socialist lawyer. If the United States believed in democracy and liberty, why did they put a
dictator? Post war conditions were horrible. And until this day there isn t much peace or
democracy that the US fought for in the first place. When Efrain Rios Montt was president he took
things farther. My mother s mother told her that she had seen the military, line men up who robbed
or did something wrong and put blind folds on them and killed them in front of everyone. They
started to lynch people. My father said that generals would tell indigenous people to come down
from the mountains and sell them their land but as soon as they got down they killed them

Comparing Martin Luther King And Malcom X
The two passages from Martin Luther King, and Malcom X are both about fighting for rights, for
the African Americans. Marin Luthers view is to fight with peace, he doesn t want to fight back
with the whites or they ll just keep getting in trouble, so they go sit in restraunts for white people.
Malcom X was fighting for the same reason, black equality. Malcom X wanted to fight with
violence until the whites wouldfinally give in to be equal. In the passages above they both give
many differences and smiliaraities as well as important information about African Americans and
economic conditions. In my opinion Martin Luthers way is better because wgite people would

British Immigration After 1945
Immigration became a significant part of society in the post war period, it redefined the public s
perception regarding culture and attitudes in society. Despite this, it is worth noting that
immigration was not a new phenomenon in 1945. Britain had welcomed refugees in the past,
notably the Irish who became one of the largest groups throughout the 20th century. Many
Europeans also sought refuge in Britain, for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930
; Peter Fryer notes on the existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the
level of immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an exclusive
national identity by where Britishness is now recognised through the colour of your skin. Race as a
concept has also transformed, with culture being a major element in British society. Politics has
also had a major influence, with the introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among
Britain s citizens, although this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for
legislation to be introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which
allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. However, despite the progress that has been
made due to immigration, the reaction of the people wasn t always as positive, subsequently
leading to racial tensions and a lack of respect among the people for immigration. These aspects are
very significant when discussing the development of

expert on Indian Philosophy, states, ?Jainism is Tran theistic it does not deny existence of God

Essay On Stanislavski
Constantin Stanislavski was known as a Russian direction and stage actor who had discovered
and developed a naturalistic performance technique, which is now known as method acting.
Stanislavski was interested and started to work in the theatre business when he was only 13, and
developed himself into becoming a director (Bishop and Jones). He was born in Moscow, Russia in
1863 and by 1897 he has already developed his own company known as the Moscow Art Theatre,
where performances used method actingand actors were allowed to express their personal
emotions into the piece. Stanislavski was known for his infamous phrases such as stage direction ,
as these were the building blocks of modern opera and helped writers such as Maksim Gorki to
produce his work ( Constantin Stanislavski).
Stanislavski s goals were to make the performances on stage look more natural and more realistic.
This was done through a series of techniques called the the Method ( Constantin Stanislavski ).
Some of these techniques were channeling emotional memory, other were more about the given
circumstance of the character s situation at hand. These techniques were watched and analyzed by
psychiatrists to see how the actors would react. Some techniques such as the emotional ... Show

Growth Curve of Serratia marcescens
Experiment 9: Growth curve of Serratia marcescens
Abstract
Bacteria grows by binary fission. The aim of this experiment is to follow the growth of Serratia
marcescens in nutrient broth at 37oCby recording the changes in turbidity (cloudiness) by
measuring the absorbance of visible light (600 nm) and also to prove that there is an increase in
the cell number and not just in mass during the growth. In the experiment we measure the full
growth curve of Serratia marcescens by measuring the absorbance at 600nm at every 10 mins. I
also determined the viable count at the start and the end of the exponential phase of growth. Using
the growth curve I calculated the growth curve and it was 1.2. Using this I found the doubling time
which was 34s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Note, if counting by turbidimetric measurements or microscopic counts, the death phase cannot be
observed.). During the death phase, the number of viable cells decreases geometrically
(exponentially), essentially the reverse of growth during the log phase.
During the lag phase there is no increase in cell numbers, although the bacteria are synthesizing
enzymes present in their environment in preparation for the exponential phase. During the
exponential or logarithmic phase, the bacterial population grows at a rate that doubles the
population during the generation time. The stationary phase incurs neither an increase nor a
decrease in the cell population. The population growth cannot continue at the exponential rate since
the nutrient supplies have been depleted and waste products have accumulated. The final phase of
the bacterial population growth curve is the death phase, during which more cells die than are
replaced by new cells.
The aim of this experiment is to follow the growth of Serratia marcescens in nutrient broth at
37oCby recording the changes in turbidity (cloudiness) by measuring the absorbance of visible
light (600 nm) and also to prove that there is an increase in the cell number and not just in mass
during the growth.

Humic Functional Groups
Humic substances are commonly described as heterogeneous compounds contain many functional
groups and they can be viewed as polyfunctional ligands. Oxygen containing functional groups are
the most abundant and are ultimately the most important for binding metal ions (Logan et al.,

decreasing affinity of organic groupings for metal ions as follows:

2.3.2. Interaction of metal ions with humic acids
The formation of covalent link between metal ions and the humic acid, formation of H bonding, as
well as, electrostatic interface can promote the interaction between HA and metal ions. In the
micellar aggregates, the hydrophilic part of the molecule including carboxyl groups and phenolic
hydroxyl groups apprehends the aromatic structure. Complexation with the hydrophilic part of HA
acid have been formed as a consequence of the interaction with metal ions, also increasing the ratio
of aromatic structure (Dudare and Klavins, 2012). HS complexing capacity varies as a function of
pH. Two binding patterns are possibly present: at acid neutral pH (carboxylates) and at alkaline pH
(carboxylate and phenolic groups). The binding patterns, binding strength, stability and solubility
depend on the complexed metal. Complex solubility depends on the concentration of free ionized
functional groups and the molecular weight (Garcia Mina, 2006).

Essay about Argentina
Argentina
Europeans arrived in the region with the 1502 voyage of Amerigo Vespucci. Spanish navigator
Juan Diaz de Solias visited what is now Argentina in 1516. Spain established a permanent colony
on the site of Buenos Aires in 1580. They further integrated Argentina into their empire following
the establishment of the Vice Royalty of Rio de la Plata in 1776, and Buenos Aires became a
flourishing port.
Buenos Aires formally declared independence from Spain on July 9, 1816. Argentines revere

The military ousted Argentina s constitutional government in 1943. Peron, then an army colonel,

of labor. Elections carried him to the presidency in 1946. He aggressively pursued policies

voice their ideas; because of this, the villagers become stuck carrying out an outdated tradition. By
looking at the mindset of the characters in The Lotteryone can see that change and freedom of
speech are not accepted which is significant because Shirley Jacksonalludes to the result of forcing
social conformity, which is the inability to correct immoral social norms. Though tradition is
known to stay the same, the natural diversity occurring in civilization makes change inevitable.
Despite this observation Jackson portrays how humans tend to stick to routine. In the town square
after Tessie wins the lottery, the narrator comments, Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual
and lost the original box, they still remembered to use stones (Jackson 6). Characters refuse to stop
a tradition even though it no longer yields significance to them. This is because some remain set in
their own ways and are trained to perceive change with a negative tone even if it is truly for the
better. After Mr. Summers calls his name, Warner says to the crowd gathered in the town square,
Seventy seventh year I been in the lottery... seventy seventh time (Jackson 4). Through this
statement, he implies that society and its habits should not be changed. This man, who ironically
has never been the

Narrative Essay About Red Lobster
When I was younger I used to love crab legs. Everytime my mom would ask me if I wanted to go
out to eat and where I wanted to go she always knew I would say Red Lobster. It didn t have to
be a nice occasion or anything special. I could have just finished a baseball game and have a
pallet of dirt on my uniform and I still wouldn t care. I wouldn t care how people felt about it or
if I looked dirty. I would do anything to get some nice red crab legs. This all changed on one day
when my grandparents and I went out to eat. We went to a chinese buffet. I was so excited when
I was walking around and I saw they had crab legs. Knowing myself I put around 4 on my plate. I
ate them and went and got my second plate. As I was eating my second plate I started to feel a
little funny. I didn t think anything of it and I kept going. I give it about 5 minutes later my lips
felt tingly. Felt as though they were buzzing like a phone ringing. I finally tell my grandma that
I don t feel too good. She looks at me and is stunned and tells my grandpa to look at me. They
both are shocked like if I just committed a crime. My grandma then said in a panic John we have
to go to my grandpa. My grandmother then got everything together and we left. During the car
ride my grandma called my mom as my grandpa was quiet driving as usual. I heard her say I was
having an allergic reaction. I didn t understand at the time because I felt fine besides my lips.

Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Intrapreneurship 2
INTRODUCTION
Innovation, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship is bringing your vision, creativity to life while
building something of value that customers are willing to pay for.
Bill Aulet, managing director in the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship at MIT, lectures
on IDEs innovation driven enterprises , high growth potential and competitive advantage that brings
new innovations to customers world wide. (Aulet, 2013).
Tom Peters teaches the benefits of SMEs small and medium enterprises (SME), you don t have to
be in a traditional competitive market, just well understood business ideas, which have a possibility
of failure (Peters, Building a Culture of Innovation, 1999).
Entrepreneur is a chance, to start your own business, with the possibility of failure.
Intrapreneurship is given the financial support of a corporation or large company to have the
freedom of innovation, be creative at no cost.

Term Paper Making the Most of Foreign Factories
Jeremy Rochford
California State University San Marcos
Abstract
The article Making the Most of Foreign Factories , written by Kasra Ferdows discusses how
companies can and should obtain the full potential of their factories abroad. She begins by stating
that there are two approaches to manufacturing and a factory s importance to the company is based
on the approach the manager of the factory takes. She also exclaims how she thinks the gap
between companies that treat their foreign factories as a source of competitive advantage and those
that do not is widening.
Next, Ferdows discusses the three current realities of global business. She follows by illustrating

Powerful suppliers increase the cost of purchased materials. (Miltenburg). The next force is the
bargaining power of buyers. The more options buyers have for a certain product the more power
they have. Powerful customers decrease prices for finished products. (Miltenburg). The last force is
the rivalry among competitors in the industry. Tough competition decreases prices and increases
costs such as marketing and new product research and development. (Miltenburg). However, in the
past couple of years there has been a new trend, bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
According to Anne Kates Smith, the Boston Consulting Group predicts a manufacturing
renaissance in the United States to be in full gear by the year 2020. There are many reasons for this
trend starting with rising wages abroad and high oil prices, which have increased shipping costs
dramatically. Offshoring companies have also encountered hidden costs resulting from long lead
times, quality control issues, and the separation of production from design and engineering teams.
(Smith). Another main attraction to the United States is that the cost of factory powered natural
gas is much less in the United States than in other countries. This factory powered natural gas is not
only a main component in producing chemicals, but as more companies begin to focus on being
socially responsible the demand for such

Essay on The life of Joseph Stalin
The life of Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin. One of the Russias most supreme leaders. But one of its most horrid as well. He
brought them up while also letting them down. Some could say where would we be without him.
But others wish they never were led by him. He went from nothing to the most powerful man in the
now most powerful country.
In the early years.
He was first born Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili to a poor shoemaker of a father on December 21
1879. It was a small village called Gori Georgia. He was a only child, whose father was a drunk

would bring in from there crop. Many farmers wouldn t cooperate with Stalin which led to him
killing them and taking over their farm. The forced collectivization caused a mass famine that
killed millions. Stalin ruled with a iron fist. He soon began to build a personality around himself.
There was art work, rewritten history books to make him seem more heroic in the revolution. Oh
by the way, the government controlled the media as well.
WWII
In 1939 Stalin and Hitler signed a nonagression pact. He annex parts of Poland and Romania and
even invaded Finland. Then Germany broke that pact by invading Russia. The Soviets were not
prepared for war. So the Germans almost reached the Russian capital of Moscow. But Stalin and
the Red Army drove the Nazis out of Russia about 2 years later. But his son, died in a German
war camp before the war was over. Then in 1945 the Red Army took Berlin and dividing it half
communist, half democratic.
In his final years
After WWII his reign did not recede but to only harden. Western influence was a thing of the past in
Russia. He turned easter governments into communist states. He led them all to the nuclear age.

Abstract
Photoluminescence is light emission that form after the absorption of photons. Dye act as a light
absorber. Organic dye is one type of dye, have a small band gap and use as semiconducting
material. It will excite the excited electron after absorb light as energy from highest occupied
molecular orbital(HOMO) to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO). The energy of photon

Dye always acts as a light absorber. Dye will absorb light to excite the excited electron state from
HOMO to LUMO. So absorbed of photons will be happened and dye will fall back from LUMO
to HOMO. So emission of photon will be happened. So the wavelength during absorbance and
emission process can be identified by using Photoluminescene (PL) spectrometer. By knowing
the wavelength we can determine the concentration of dye. Ruthenium dye is one of the organic
dye where it contains small band gap, so it only needs small energy to excite the photon from
LUMO to HOMO. So if the dye absorb red colour it will reflect blue colour (refer figure 1). Figure
1: a wheel of colour to estimate absorbed light based on colour of dye
Objectives
1. To speculate range of absorbed and reflected wavelength of light by Ruthenium based dye based
on its colour
2. To characterize photoluminescence property of the dye using Photoluminescence(PL)
spectrometer; usng radiation source which energy is based on the speculated absorbed wavelength
3. To estimate energy loss via radiative recombination i.e., recombination of electron with hole in
the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of dye.

Oppression In Native American Culture
Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on
tradition throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist
for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native
Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal
respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave
America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the
natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being
any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrativewriting
done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the
oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many
people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw
specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people
to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and
lives.
Growing up, children are regularly told to be themselves, because everyone else is taken. This
advice, however, is quite controversial. I hated Tonto Still Do, written by Sherman Alexie, expresses

The Weakening Of The Catholic Church
The weakening of the Church was a big thing in their time. The Catholic Church was the only
Church that has ever went down. There were two main factors that lead to the Church s
weakening. First, the Church weakened by worldliness and corruption within the Church. The
corruption started to get really bad during the 1300s. The Church was so corrupted the priests
sold indulgences which was a release from punishments for sin. The high Church officials would
fail to live up to the roles which is really important to follow your vows that they committed to
become an official. The second reason the Church fall was because of political conflict. The Church

A Good Man Is Hard And Find By Flannery O Connor The...
In the short fiction A good man is hard to find written by Flannery O connor The family goes on
a road trip to Florida, and the grandmother doesn t want to go because there is an escaped
murderer who is told to be headed to Florida. There are many different views of the story, but
most of them revolve around the underlying religious message. The author uses foreshadowing,
and irony to show what this story portrays. O connor is from the south and is catholic. The
grandmother in the story is a big believer in god, and talks about him a lot throughout. John
Desmond says how the title reminds him of a story in the Bible when Christ rebukes Peter when
he tried to call him good , and Jesus says that no one should be called good, and how in the story
the grandmother continues to call the misfit good (Desmond). Nome, I ain t a good man (191) He
knew he wasn t the worst in the world, but he knew he wasn t good. I feel like the misfit wasn t a
good man. He brutally murdered this entire familyfor no reason, other than that they recognized him
as the escapee.
The grandmother has a strong faith in God and it affects every aspect of her life. The misfit
doesn t believe in Jesus and that he threw everything off balance when he claimed to raise the
dead. He doesn t believe that Jesus was real because he says that he wasn t there to see Jesus raise
the dead, so because of this he has no faith. This totally contradicts the grandmother s beliefs. Even

The Most Important Aspect Of Communication
We ve been roommates for almost a whole semester now, and we haven t run into a single
problem! This is probably because we re both currently taking interpersonal communication
classes, and try our best to apply the lessons to our real life relationships. Although my class uses
projects to challenge our knowledge, I know your class takes tests, so I m going to help you
review in this letter! In my opinion, the most important aspect of communication is the way we
manage different types of relationships. In the following paragraphs, I ll help you review topics
such as why various relationship types matter, how we form them, and what distinguishes them
from each other by using examples from television shows we watch together. Although all
relationships are social to some degree, the most obviously social relationship to me is the one
between friends. According to Roy Baumeister, we all have an innate need to form and maintain
interpersonal relationships, which is called the need to belong. To fulfil this need, we seek out
friendships in various social contexts to help us feel like we are part of a community. For
example, In the television show New Girl, Jess and Cece became friends in elementary school
because they were both shy and felt that we didn t belong to any certain group. However, they
wouldn t have become friends if we were not also attracted to one another. Although attraction can
be physical, it can also be social or task related. When people are attracted to each

Why Is Memorial Important
Memorials and monuments are important because they offer a method of recognizing and
celebrating notable figures achievements. There are more complications when constructing
memorials and monuments than people think. Agencies that construct memorials need to take into
account the demands of various people in order to satisfy their concerns. Once the agencies can
establish a plan for a monumentthat has a neutral position, then they should begin to create them.
Agencies should think about the significance, controversy, location, and the emotional connection
when constructing a monument or memorial. Foremost, the significance of a monument is an
important element. The agencies responsible for making the memorials need to question the story
behind the monument to make sure it is something that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is worth recognizing Lincoln for his achievement in ending the American Civil War and
outlawing slavery in the United States. Through the statue the feeling of authority and greatness is
conveyed to the audience who stands before it and reads the text of the two speeches. While it
can be easy to read Lincoln s most famous speech in a history textbook, the experience of seeing
the actual monument itself is much more powerful. The significance of the statues need to matter
to people or else there is no point in celebrating the the person or thing who was made into a
monument. Similar to the Lincoln Memorial, the Statue of Liberty s significance is of importance.
The Statue of Liberty represents the idea of freedom and democracy which is what the United
States values greatly. When the Statue of Liberty was designed the architects wanted to create a
symbol for the United States that would embody freedom. Through the use of the depiction of the
Roman goddess Libertas they were able to accomplish that. The meaning has to be taken into
account, if not the memorial can become like The Maine Lobsterman . This was a statue made to

however, she herself is actually just a minion of the Combine. In many parts of One Flew Over

government, and how it forces people to conform to something they are not. Kesey was also an
advocate for abusing substances and self experimentation; as the patients get more and more
successful in challenging the Combine, they gain magnificent amounts of confidence to abuse
drugs. Kesey was a strong advocate for individualism and self discoveration. His writing portrays
his opinion on how individuals conform by unconsciously falling to society s needs. When this
novel was written, society ostracized individuals who were thought to be abnormal or different,
and because of this societal influence, people allowed themselves to become molded into what

I loved writing about my thoughts or feelings about things that happened to me. But I had a good

Social Hierarchy Of The Aztec Social Structures
Social Structures The Aztec people had a rigid social hierarchy that was made up of nobles
(pipiltin), commoners (macehualtin), serfs, and slaves. The noble members of society were

nobles were allowed to show evidence of their wealth by wearing jewellery and decorated capes.
Nobles were entitled to receive tribute from commoners in the form of goods, services and

The devices connected with I2C bus are either master nodes or slave nodes. The master node
generates the clock and initiates communication with slaves while the slave node receives clock
signal and give a response to the master when its address is requested. It is necessary to stress
that I2C bus is a multi master bus which means any number of master nodes can be attached.
Usually a bus device operates in one or two modes of four modes operation which are master

transmit mode by sending a start bit followed by the address of the slave it wished to

The Discovery Of The Logarithm
The Contributors of Logarithms
The discovery of the logarithm is a great mathematics breakthrough made by John Napier and Joost
Burgi. These two mathematicians had different concepts of the logarithms and its present use
today. John Napier s logarithms were published in 1614, while six years later, in 1620, Burgi s
logarithms were published (A REVIEW OF LOGARITHMS 2016). Both Napier and Burgi invented
logarithms in order to simplify mathematical calculations. To reach their goals, they used two
different methods; Napier used the algebraic method and Burgi used the geometric method.
Although these two men had discovered logarithms, they did not have the concept of a logarithmic
base. The current definition defines a logarithm as the power ... Show more content on

Originally, the exponent notation was not used, but was a further developed method to explain
Burgi s concept. In conclusion, Burgi s discovery of relating geometric and arithmetic series is the
reason why he has a great contributor to the development of logarithms.
The other important contributor to the development of logarithms in 1614 was John Napier, a
Scottish mathematician. His incentive was to help in the multiplication of sine quantities. The
entire sine was the value of the side calculated of a right angle triangle with a large hypotenuse. In
participation with the English mathematician Henry Briggs, Napier transformed his logarithm into
its present day shape. The comparison of logarithms is between an L point moving consistently
minus infinity, and an X point moving from zero towards infinity at a speed proportional to its
distance from zero. Napier s discovery made a general relation between the arithmetic and
geometric series; i.e., multiplication and rising to a power of the values of the X point correspond
to addition and multiplication of the values of the L point, respectively (John Napier and
logarithms 2016). For instance, in order to limit the L and X motion, the requirement is that L=1 at
X=10, additionally to that condition that X=1 at L=0. The change had contributed to the logarithm
known as the Briggsian at that time (Logarithms: The Early History of a

Battle Of Elah Research Paper
The Valley of Elah is best known for the being the site of a famous biblical battle between David

The Battle of David and Goliath, which happened around 1010 BC, took place right in the Valley

confrontation and who holds people to reasonable standards while encouraging teamwork and
cooperation. This alone makes running a company, and finding upper and middle managers to
facilitate plans and goals a worthy task, but with the advent of fast paced globalization, companies
are now having to handle not only their internal managementstyles, but the management styles of a
variety of different countries and cultures.

Intrinsic Motivation In The Medical Field
Although, my motivation to pursue a career in the medical field arises from intrinsic
motivations; My personality has a part in my career choice because it was gained through the
nurturing of family and extrinsically of course. The summary of my Myers Briggs Type
Indicator concluded my type as ISFJ. The I stands for introversion, and it means one focuses on
inner world of ideas and impressions. Being an introvert applies to me and my life because I
prefer to work alone, dislike social outings, and I am self motivated. For example, I had to do a
group project in my english class, and I disliked it. I wanted to work alone, but most of the work I
wanted to commit too to make sure it got done. I researched the topic and got all the information...

Judging means one who likes a planned and organized approach to life and want to have things
settled. I find this one to be highly true of me. I really dislike clutter and unorganized things. I
like to plan everything out to the T. I do not like when things are done last minute because it is
hectic and chaotic. This is probably one of the reasons I am an overthinker. I worry about
everything because I can be a perfectionist and if things do not go as planned I lose sleep. For
example, for all my classes I have everything organized for each class. The upper level classes all
have binders with tabs and labelings. If everything is messy I can not focus and concentrate on
the task at hand. It stresses me out to see things out of order and I do not stop thinking about it
until I fix it. This applies to my life even now because I just want everythings to go as planned as
far as my career. I know life does not work this way all the time, but I can plan out certain things

Conflicts And Tensions Between The French And Algerian War...
The period between 1830 and 1962 was full of conflicts and tensions between the unstable French
and Algerian government. Conflicts were based on religion, equality, nationalism, politics and
terrorism. With the encouragement of European settlement, privileges and inequality appeared. As
the pressure grew, new nationalistic groups were created, and sometimes they would act as a
terrorist organization, just like the FLN group. Even though the problems were increasing in the
French colony, there was some collaboration that tried to maintain the peace in it. Some laws that
were published enhanced the political power of Algerians in their government, National Assembly
in Paris. From the very beginning of the existence of the French Algeria, it was hard to balance the
satisfaction of the Pier Noids and the Muslims. The French army, landing in June 1830, easily

Ferhat Abbas, a future president of an independent Algerian parliament, writes in 1931: Algeria is

Franklin D. Roosevelt And The Great Depression
In 1933 Franklin D. Roosevelt became president. Around this time, the Great Depression was
still going on. He believed that speaking the truth would help face the conditions in our country
today. His speeches were powerful and he changed things for the American people. Roosevelt
was solicitous about the their well being. He created programs for the people and stood up to the
war of the Great Depression. The Great Depression began when the stock market crashed in 1929.
For this reason, value of money has decreased and many families became poor. When Franklin D.
Rooseveltbecame president in 1933, he was convinced that speaking the truth and the whole truth
would help facing conditions in the country today. As stated in Franklin D.

Jimmy Hoffa Quotes
The Disappearance Do Not Write Here Have you ever heard of the Mafia? Do you know what they
do? Did they do something to Hoffa?
Do Not Write Here
Jimmy Hoffa s disappearance is still yet to be discovered as you are about to learn background.
Hoffa was born to a poor coal miner in 1913. Born in 1913 to a poor coal miner in Brazil, Indiana,
Jimmy Hoffa proved a natural leader in his youth. (History.com) This quote is helpful because it
states what Hoffa grew up with. Hoffa had started a labor strike at the age of 20 years. At the age
of 20, he helped organize a labor strike in Detroit, and remained an advocate for downtrodden
workers for the rest of his life. (History.com) This quote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hoffa had been on the phone with his wife the night he disappeared. On this day 40 years ago,
former Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa called his wife, Josephine, from a pay phone in
Bloomfield Township to say he had been stood up at an afternoon meeting with two mobsters.
(usatoday.com) This quote digs right into the passage. One theory states that the Mafia killed Hoffa.
The main one presented to a grand jury was that the Mafia killed to prevent him from disclosing
mob infiltration of the Teamsters, including its tapping into the union s pension fund to finance
its rackets. (usatoday.com) This quote proves that Hoffa was important because people were
involved with the grand jury! Investigators believe that no one will be blamed for Hoffa s death.
The list of people who have reliable information is really short. You could probably count them
on one hand with a couple fingers left over. I think it s extremely unlikely that there will be any
new developments in the case. (usatoday.com) This quote leaves you on a cliff hanger. In
conclusion, it is not proved that the Mafia killed Hoffa. Investigators are still searching. Have you
learned more than what was known at the beginning of this passage? Since reading this passage,
you know that more has been stated and learned. In conclusion, Hoffa has not yet been found for
40 years. People still search for him to this day. Throughout all of this,

3.1 Introduction to Autonomous Cars Autonomous cars, also known as driverless cars, or self
driving cars are vehicles that can drive themselves without a human driver to control the steering,
acceleration, and braking (Thrun, 2010). They are designed to sense their surroundings with
techniques of artificial intelligence, sensors with a 360В° of view, radar, and global positioning
systems, so that the driver is not expected to constantly monitor the roadway while operating in self
driving mode. Advanced control systems analyze the sensory information gathered to plan the best
route to the desired destination. Obstacles and road signs are all part of the algorithm to be taken
into account ahead of time. In addition, the autonomous vehicles... Show more content on

Level 2 Combined Function This level involves automation of at least two primary control
functions designed to work in unison to relieve the driver of control of those functions. An
example is adaptive cruise control in combination with lane centering. Level 3 Limited Self
Driving Vehicles at this level of automation are able to operate autonomously for some portions of
the journey. Transfer of control back to the human driver happens with some warning. The Google
car is an example of limited self driving automation. Level 4 Full Self Driving The vehicle is
designed to perform all safety critical driving functions and monitor roadway conditions for an
entire trip without manual control at any time during the trip. 3.2 Advantages And Limits There are
many potential advantages to using a driverless car instead of a traditional human controlled
vehicle: Reduction in car accidents. Most car accidents are caused by driver errors, but the
autonomous system can monitor a broader range of sensors and react faster than a human driver.
More efficient transportation due to higher speed limit Increase in road capacity and reduction in
traffic congestion due to narrowed safety gap and intelligent parking technology. Occupants in an
autonomous car will not be constrained due to age, license, disabilities, intoxication and other
factors. Although we can benefit from the self driving cars, potential

The article begins by examining the notion of paradigms and worldviews as
currently used in the nursing literature and suggests that the concept of a single paradigm supports a
philosophy inconsistent with nursing s goal of building knowledge on the nature of the human
response. Next, the strength of plurality in nursing knowledge development, its warrantable
evidence, and the concept of a unity of knowledge to support knowledge development and practice
is articulated. Finally, the nursing practice implications of this perspective are discussed.
Worldviews and Paradigms Worldviews and paradigms have been accepted in nursing as essential
to researchers theoretical perspectives, delineation of research questions, and ultimately to the
selection of research methods. The search for a nursing paradigm as a means of knowledge

Billfish
The general term billfish describes a number of species of long, predatory fish characterized by
long, sword like bills. It includes sailfish and swordfish. They are generally exploited for both
food and game. Swordfish, in particular, are prized for their firm, tasty flesh. While the long beaks
have been observed in anger to spear objects such as small boats, their main function is to stun prey.
Different Lures For Blue Marlin
Artificial lures, live and natural bait have all been successfully employed to capture the blue
marlin. The most popular technique seems to be artificial lure fishing, which was developed in
Hawaii. Among the earliest artificial lures were chrome towel rails tied with strips of rubber taken
from inner tubes. Four or more such lures are fastened together and trolled behind boats at speeds
of between 7 and 15 knots.

The Legacy Of The Molly Maguires And Their Impact On...
Elizabeth Hall
May 2nd, 2016
The Legacy of the Molly Maguires and Their Impact on Laborer Organizations
The decades between 1860 and 1880, a small Irish gang emerged in the coal mines of
Pennsylvania. Due to the prejudice and maltreatment of non Anglo Saxon immigrants in the United
States, the Irish forced into working in horrible conditions for such little pay and barely any
security or fair compensation when they were injured. The legacy the Mollies left behind was not
only the gory truth about what happens when prejudices get in the way, but their battles were only
the beginning in creating unions and labor strikes. The Molly Maguires serve as they martyr for the
battered and abused workforce of the 19th century.
The Molly Maguires are a group of men in Pennsylvania who emigrated from Ireland to look for
job opportunities in the great new world America had sold itself as. Originally being founded as a
Protestant dominant country, fleeing from religious persecution, there was some tension between
Americans and Catholics, in this case the Irish. Unable to find a union that would accept the
Irishmen they were, the Mollies formed their secret organization because of their frustrations
against their employers, when their needs were not met, they resorted to violence and strikes . The
Molly Maguires, or Mollies, were labeled cruel, brutal terrorists in their court hearings. These
alleged Mollies got their name after the Irish group in Ireland that existed in the years

Some of the characteristics of graduate writing are the level of detail that is added to the
writing, the length of writing, and the proper use of citation and references. Graduate level
writing adds more detail to any study. Undergraduate students may write about a point with two
or three topics but a graduate student will take those two or three topics and break them down
into subtopics. Undergraduate students typically are typically advised to write a paper that
consist of five hundred words or so but a graduate student will have to write a twelve hundred to
fifteen hundred word essay on a consistent basis to ensure proper knowledge of the tasks and
subjects being taught.. The use of proper citation and references is critical for the graduate
student. The use of direct quote under 40 words such as (APA, 2010, p. 5) Direct quotations must

independent, very neutral and professional as well as respecting the privacy and confidentiality of

This pushes responsibility back on the other person and increases commitment to the solution.
Decision making techniques can provide invaluable help to someone that is confused by
helping them to paint their scenario options and then looking into the future and imagining
them playing out. The client can then predict how their will manage this type of situation, how
they would feel and how successful this option may be. The counsellor should also explain how
unproductive it is to stay tortured about things and not come to a decision. Counsellors should
help the client to sort through what they need to consider and make a date in order to meet a
certain and effective decision. Counsellors should also analyse decisions and make sure the
client has the necessary commitment to carry them out. Counsellors should make client s
realise that not all decisions will feel great, sometimes they are the best of two painful outcomes
and may involve a loss. If a decision is delayed or must be delayed for any reason, a new date
must be made for finalising it. Force field analysis is a very useful decision making technique. It
helps individuals to make decisions by analysing the forces for and against a change and it helps
them to communicate with the reasoning behind the decision. It can be used for two purposes: to
decide whether to go ahead with a change and to increase your chances of success by strengthening
the forces supporting the change

The Bystander Effect Is The Main Cause Of The Problem
There has always been chaos around the world, but it is different when the one in charge of a
country, like the President, is the main cause of the problem. However, the chaos keeps
occurring due to the fact that people who are seeing the problem occur do not do anything to
help stop the issue; this could also be referred to as, the bystander effect. The bystander effect is
when a group of people or just one person is seeing a problem take place, yet does nothing about it
other than keep quiet and watch. When the bystander effect occurs, things could get to a level
where the problem is uncontrollable, an example of this is the Holocaust. Even though this was a

  • 2. The Mayan Civilization Essay The Maya civilization was a unique development in history that challenges the common perspective of humanity and society. It s very classification as a civilization may confuse those who think of a civilization as a cohesive empire because it was quite fragmentary instead. An isolate built upon the tribal cultures of Central and South America, the Maya culture operated on a different understanding of reality and the world than did the Eurasian communities that intermingled and possessed knowledge of each other. One must take this into account in order to understand the workings of the Maya. Parallels in their development to other cultures around the world are testament to the nature of the species Homo sapiens that seems to emerge in any environment.... • 4. The Characters Of Inanna Ancient Sumerians built intelligent designs for the beginning civilizations in history, in the region of Mesopotamia. What is now present day Iraq, was then socially formed by people who learned a diversity of skills in it s development. Food is one of the most importantly defined means for survival. In the book Inanna written by Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Kramer, there are stories of a fertility goddess who patroned one of Sumers great city states named Uruk. This 5,000 year old literature of ancient Sumer has given a literal and figurative outlook into its mythology. What is understood from the period is that Inanna acquired the me s, or cosmic laws, from Enki to bring to Uruk. Inanna s role in the myths is applying her powers to the life in Uruk, where her customs are to protect her people. Inanna, as a women, is known distinctively for her connection to fertility in an agrarian society. In the first stories of Inanna s origins, she was predominantly proud of her sexual becoming, Rejoicing at her wondrous vulva, the young woman Inanna applauded herself (Wolkstein 12). Inanna yearned to bore good and prosperous aspects of life from the new opportunities she will encounter as a mature women. This may mean she relates her sexual identity to the happiness of Uruk. The people of Uruk are an agrarian society, so they knew how to bake bread, and make fine linens from flax seed. Paid Family Leave Case Study After extending their paid parental leave, the U.S. office of Thomson Reuters decided to focus on a friendly family policy that would benefit a broad range of employees, Paid Family Leave. To argue the importance of focusing on this policy over other ones, they presented the following points. First, the HR team argued that regardless of worker s age, they will eventually face a circumstance that will require them to take off to provide care to a close relative. Secondly, the company wants to remain competitive to attract and retain the best talent. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 13% of U.S. employers provide this benefit (March 2016). Hair Extensions Research Paper If you are thinking about getting extensions or if you already have extensions, it is important that you use the right products and that you use them correctly in order to get the most out of your extensions. Here are a few tips to guide you in the right direction when it comes to hair products and your extensions. Tip #1: Avoid Alcohol Based Products The most important rule to remember when it comes to hair care products is to avoid using alcohol based products. You can find out if a product has alcohol in it by looking at the ingredient list on the back of any product you are interested in purchasing. Keep your eyes open not just for alcohol, but for isopropyl, which is just more scientific term for alcohol. You can find alcohol or isopropyl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tilt Your Head Back: Once you get in the shower, get your hair wet first. Tilt your head back in order to get it wet. Do not flip your head and your hair over; this will cause your extensions to get tangled. Apply Shampoo In Sections: Instead of scrubbing the shampoo into your hair, carefully apply it to small sections, working from top to bottom, and gentle rub in the soap. This will help prevent tangles. Rinse: Finally, rinse the shampoo out of your hair. If any of your extensions got tangled in the process, just use a wide toothed comb while you are still in the shower to carefully work out any tangles. Tip #3: Leave In Condition Is Okay After you shampoo, you can apply leave in conditioner to your hair. • 7. Similarities Between Hinduism And Buddhism Learning about both Hinduism and Buddhism, particularly about the art and architecture of both cultures made me realize they are not that different as I thought first. Both cultures are beautiful and rich, and if someone takes a deeper look can see that they are depending on each other. Many people forget that Buddha was born into a Hindu society, and his views and beliefs which led to a brand new culture are based on Hinduism. Of course I am not saying the two are the same because that wouldn t make any sense. However, the similarities are visible, just the way differences are visible too, and these things make both cultures so amazing. First I would like to point out some of the similarities and differences between Hindu and Buddhist faiths which I think are important to understand their art. Both religions put karma and reincarnation into the center of believes. Both religions believe in several spiritual practices in attempts to get beyond the thinking mind and into a state of relaxation and awareness. However, they do not share their gods, in Hinduism they share their religion with many gods and goddesses, and in Buddhismthere is no god, Buddha himself was a leader. Knowing the two cultures basic views and believes it is easier to compare their art and architecture, since mostly they are based on the religions. The first similarity which I think is very oblivious is the stupa. Stupas are present in both cultures and the base for the temples in Hinduism and Buddhism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ku Klux Klan Historiography The main objective of a historiography paper is to research and define the distinct evolution of a historical viewpoint on a certain event or subject matter. The Ku Klux Klan was established during Reconstruction in 1866. Created as a vehicle for white Southern resistance against the Republican Party, the Klan was a perpetrator of violence and aggression towards African Americans. The main goals of the Klansmen were to overturn the Republication government of the South, drive African Americans out of politics, control African American labor, and restore black subordination. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Branches of the Klan were instituted in nearly every Southern state making it difficult for African Americans to maintain their positions of power. In an effort to maintain social order, the Klan made its efforts to stop the assimilation of African Americans into society known. In Chapter 15 of his book, The Tragic Era: The Revolution after Lincoln, Claude G. Bowers argues that the Ku Klux Klan was an organization that used fear and a sense of mystery as a means of controlling African Americans, its sense of mystery being its trademark. The Klan s mystery was made up of eccentric costumes and code names for members that helped maintain the sense of secrecy. The Klan, adorned in white robes and often referring to themselves as ghosts , used the superstitious beliefs of African Americans in an effort to keep the newly freed slaves whom the Klan believed were the primary crime committers out of society. The author states that because the Klan was preventing African Americans from taking a more predominant role in society, their efforts further resulted in a crime free environment. Because it s systematic tactics were said to be decreasing the rape culture in southern society and increasing the positive attitudes of servants on southern plantations, it appeared to white southerners that the Klan was making an effective and conscious effort to regulate the social caste system of the time. The author argues that it was not until the emergence of the Klan that both white men and women began to feel a sense of security. A crime free environment was essential to Southern society at the time. A society with a distinct social order was one that would produce the most effective economy. The following historians all agree that the maintaining of social order was one of the primary reasons that the Klan was established as an organization. Never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Power Of The Prime Minister Has Too Much Power Introduction One of the most powerful and influential members of the Canadian government is the Prime Minster of Canada. It has been stated that the Prime Minister of Canada has far more power within the Canadian system of government than the President of America has in the American System (Caron, 2017). This excess power the Prime Minister has when compared to the President of American shows the difference ranges of power top leaders can have in their specific country. However, is the amount of power the Prime Minister has in Canadatoo much? To determine if the Prime Minister has too much power there are a few things that need to be considered. The first is the responsibilities of the Prime Minister and the power these responsibly give the position. Looking at how much power the Prime Minister has in relation to the amount of responsibilities placed on that government role will give insights into the necessities of that power. Next, reviewing the history of powers the Prime Minister has over the years will show a timeline of a gradual increase in power. Finally, to determine if the Prime Minister has too much power recent events must be discussed in which the Prime Minister has abused their powers. To fully understand how the amount of power the Prime Minister has can impact the government, there will be a focus on one specific example of who calls elections throughout. • 13. British Immigration After 1945 Immigration became a significant part of society in the post war period, it redefined the public s perception regarding culture and attitudes in society. Despite this, it is worth noting that immigration was not a new phenomenon in 1945. Britain had welcomed refugees in the past, notably the Irish who became one of the largest groups throughout the 20th century. Many Europeans also sought refuge in Britain, for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930 ; Peter Fryer notes on the existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the level of immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an exclusive national identity by where Britishness is now recognised through the colour of your skin. Race as a concept has also transformed, with culture being a major element in British society. Politics has also had a major influence, with the introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among Britain s citizens, although this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for legislation to be introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. Stanislavski was interested and started to work in the theatre business when he was only 13, and developed himself into becoming a director (Bishop and Jones). In the experiment we measure the full growth curve of Serratia marcescens by measuring the absorbance at 600nm at every 10 mins. (Note, if counting by turbidimetric measurements or microscopic counts, the death phase cannot be observed.). During the death phase, the number of viable cells decreases geometrically (exponentially), essentially the reverse of growth during the log phase. During the lag phase there is no increase in cell numbers, although the bacteria are synthesizing enzymes present in their environment in preparation for the exponential phase. During the exponential or logarithmic phase, the bacterial population grows at a rate that doubles the population during the generation time. The stationary phase incurs neither an increase nor a decrease in the cell population. The population growth cannot continue at the exponential rate since the nutrient supplies have been depleted and waste products have accumulated. The final phase of the bacterial population growth curve is the death phase, during which more cells die than are replaced by new cells. Interaction of metal ions with humic acids The formation of covalent link between metal ions and the humic acid, formation of H bonding, as well as, electrostatic interface can promote the interaction between HA and metal ions. In the micellar aggregates, the hydrophilic part of the molecule including carboxyl groups and phenolic hydroxyl groups apprehends the aromatic structure. Complexation with the hydrophilic part of HA acid have been formed as a consequence of the interaction with metal ions, also increasing the ratio of aromatic structure (Dudare and Klavins, 2012). HS complexing capacity varies as a function of pH. Two binding patterns are possibly present: at acid neutral pH (carboxylates) and at alkaline pH (carboxylate and phenolic groups). In The Lottery , the characters are deprived of the ability to voice their ideas; because of this, the villagers become stuck carrying out an outdated tradition. By looking at the mindset of the characters in The Lotteryone can see that change and freedom of speech are not accepted which is significant because Shirley Jacksonalludes to the result of forcing social conformity, which is the inability to correct immoral social norms. Though tradition is known to stay the same, the natural diversity occurring in civilization makes change inevitable. Despite this observation Jackson portrays how humans tend to stick to routine. In the town square after Tessie wins the lottery, the narrator comments, Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original box, they still remembered to use stones (Jackson 6). Characters refuse to stop a tradition even though it no longer yields significance to them. This is because some remain set in their own ways and are trained to perceive change with a negative tone even if it is truly for the better. After Mr. Summers calls his name, Warner says to the crowd gathered in the town square, Seventy seventh year I been in the lottery... seventy seventh time (Jackson 4). The last force is the rivalry among competitors in the industry. Tough competition decreases prices and increases costs such as marketing and new product research and development. (Miltenburg). However, in the past couple of years there has been a new trend, bringing manufacturing back to the United States. According to Anne Kates Smith, the Boston Consulting Group predicts a manufacturing renaissance in the United States to be in full gear by the year 2020. There are many reasons for this trend starting with rising wages abroad and high oil prices, which have increased shipping costs dramatically. Offshoring companies have also encountered hidden costs resulting from long lead times, quality control issues, and the separation of production from design and engineering teams. (Smith). Another main attraction to the United States is that the cost of factory powered natural gas is much less in the United States than in other countries. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrativewriting done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and lives. In the short fiction A good man is hard to find written by Flannery O connor The family goes on a road trip to Florida, and the grandmother doesn t want to go because there is an escaped murderer who is told to be headed to Florida. There are many different views of the story, but most of them revolve around the underlying religious message. The author uses foreshadowing, and irony to show what this story portrays. O connor is from the south and is catholic. The grandmother in the story is a big believer in god, and talks about him a lot throughout. John Desmond says how the title reminds him of a story in the Bible when Christ rebukes Peter when he tried to call him good , and Jesus says that no one should be called good, and how in the story the grandmother continues to call the misfit good (Desmond). Both Napier and Burgi invented logarithms in order to simplify mathematical calculations. In conclusion, Burgi s discovery of relating geometric and arithmetic series is the reason why he has a great contributor to the development of logarithms. The other important contributor to the development of logarithms in 1614 was John Napier, a Scottish mathematician. His incentive was to help in the multiplication of sine quantities. The entire sine was the value of the side calculated of a right angle triangle with a large hypotenuse. In participation with the English mathematician Henry Briggs, Napier transformed his logarithm into its present day shape. The comparison of logarithms is between an L point moving consistently minus infinity, and an X point moving from zero towards infinity at a speed proportional to its distance from zero. Napier s discovery made a general relation between the arithmetic and geometric series; i.e., multiplication and rising to a power of the values of the X point correspond to addition and multiplication of the values of the L point, respectively (John Napier and logarithms 2016).
