Holiday Break Research Paper
Over the holiday break, I did lots of fun things. I spent time with family, I hung out with friends, and I
went to Branson. I really enjoyed the break and had tons of fun!
For Christmas, we always meet up with my dad s side of the family the Saturday before Christmas and
they all come over to my house. We ate dinner with them and opened up presents. On Christmas Eve
morning, my family and I went to my church for a candlelight service. That night we also went to the
candlelight service at Immanuel Baptist Church to meet up with some friends and family. After
Immanuel s candlelight service was over I went to my great grandmother s house to eat dinner and
open presents with some of my family members. When that was over, I went back over to my

Fosh Sponsor Experience
As of this moment, I have never actually done a Science Games, but I do have a wealth of large scale
event planning knowledge! I was an integral member of the Science Frosh Sponsorship team,
especially when it concerned acquiring the funds and equipment for the most successful frosh of 2016.
While I do not have any new ideas pertaining to Science Games, I have one idea that may make the
Hype Night more successful. When it comes to Power Hour, everyone enjoys being covered in beer,
but no one enjoys the clean up afterwards especially the staff of Cafe Campus. Even less so if you
must wade through a conglomerate concoction of beer, mixed drinks (for celiac inclusivity, of course),
wheels, sweat and pure degeneracy. A way to combat this would ... Show more content on

Family means nobody gets left behind (or forgotten). I came to McGill University from a high school
environment that was not particularly inclusive, but frosh taught me how to further involve my peers
to have an even better experience. Whenever one is in a group setting, it is important to make sure
everyone feels welcomed without damaging the social structure of the current group context. In other
words, it isn t right to let one person in attendance sit out and feel unwelcome, but it is also not very
fair to divert attention away from other people just to attend to the newcomer. Inclusivity means
effective integration, not special attention. I believe the best way to positively incorporate these values
would be to make the concept of inclusivity more available to the participants. Chants and subjection
to drinking are only fun if the person wants to participate in that particular event. Inclusivity during
science events is easy (especially in regards to alcohol) if everyone recognizes the opt in environment,
i.e. alcohol is an opt in activity, not one you have to opt out

My Life Is A Case Of Existential Crisis
Anxiety. Stress. These emotions bring forth many headaches and heartaches. People often relate such
emotions to problems or unexpected happenings. But could it be instead a case of existential crisis?
Existential crisis is when a person starts to worry or question the meaning of their life. Does life have
a purpose? Does life have any value? If so, what is its value? In my case, it happens very often. Scared
and alone, I often wonder about the meaning of my life. Is my life worth living? If you have felt this
way, maybe you have a case of existential crisis. I am scared that I will not be able to accomplish my
hopes and dreams. All I can think of is the mistakes I have made, the problems I have caused, and the
wonderful things that I ve sadly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could be in a party, having fun, and suddenly I start to think about the things that worry me the most.
This tears me up so much inside that I usually start to become desperate. I get desperate to do
something else, leave, and go somewhere else. I often end up leaving parties because I m no longer
happy being there. When this happens I just don t want to be in that place so much it becomes easy to
isolate myself. Social isolation is when you isolate yourself from other people because you prefer to
be alone or wish to have no contact with people and the rest of the world. I feel uncomfortable being
around people; large crowds that I only want to have fun and be

Analysis Of Bartholomew Quot ; An Adult Attachment Model
Bartholomew Horowitz (1991) developed an adult attachment model conceptualized through the
understanding that a person s image of the self and the other is dichotomized as positive or negative.
Through this framework they developed four dimensions, that range from a combination of
understanding the self as worthy of love or not and seeing other people as trustworthy or unreliable.
This paper will focus on one dimension, dismissive attachment, and how the behaviors, thoughts, and
feelings associated with this group disrupts the fundamental need for meaningful connections to
people. Baumeister Leary (1995) developed the Need to Belong Theory, which states that people have
a pervasive drive to form and maintain stable interpersonal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Those experiences with the caretaker are internalized and become a model for attachment expectations
in later relationships. Attachment styles provide internal working models through which individuals
perceive and relate to the world and to others (Shorey Snyder 2006). The type of attachment style
impacts what kinds of internal working models are developed. Subsequently, if an internal working
model is seen as dysfunctional, there is the possibility of creating vulnerabilities to the development of
psychopathology.
Bartholomew Horowitz (1991) also defined the different attachment styles, secure, preoccupied,
fearful, and dismissive, according to dependence and avoidance. The researchers defined avoidance as
the degree to which people avoid close contact with others as a result of their expectation of aversive
consequences; and dependence is defined on a spectrum where those low in dependence represents the
establishment of positive self regard internally without the need for validation from others and those
high in dependence are only able to internalize positive self regard when they receive constant
external validation.
When combining the two dimensions, a dismissive attachment style indicates feelings of worthiness
combined with a negative regard for other people. As a result of these ways of being, dismissive
people protect themselves against being disappointed by avoiding relationships and maintaining
independence and

Rise Of The Robots Analysis
Essay 3: Rise of the Robots
In Mr. Martin Ford s Rise of the Robots, the author argues that the economic future is in danger due to
technology overtaking the workforce. As technology becomes smarter, they have taken over the jobs
that humans have previously done. However, it is not just simple tasks, but intricate tasks that require
multiple steps, such as brain surgery. Mr. Ford presents a valid argument of that at the rate that
technology is progressing, it will probably only be a few decades before robotics overtake the
workforce. Mr. Ford s main argument is that coming technology will have a profound impact on our
economics. Even today, we have automated robots doing tasks that, formally, humans couldn t
preform with such accuracy, such as self driving cars and even surgeries. Robots are able to assemble
other robots via the assembly lines. Increasingly, technology is advancing faster than humans in
discovering ways to complete tasks. Technology is becoming exponentially better at writing its own
programing, raising the question why could they not overtake all jobs currently performed by humans.
Surgery is a major example of how robots have surpassed the human capabilities, being able to
complete the procedure with minimal invasiveness. It is already unique enough for a robot to assemble
a washing machine, per say, but now they are able to perform tasks that humans cannot even
complete. More sophisticated robots are referred to as artificial

Lydia Is Not The Wisest Person
What would you do if you discovered that the person you loved was a liar? In the book Pride and
Prejudice, a character by the name of Lydia falls in love with George Wickham. Lydia ignores
everything that the rest of her family says and marries George Wickham without their consent. All
who know this story and have any common sense can agree that Lydia was not the wisest person. She
makes a poor marriage choice when she decides to run away with Mr. Wickham for three reasons:
Lydia was practically a child, Mr. Bennet her father, does not think too highly of Mr. Wickham, and
Mr. Wickham was not the same man in public as he was in private.
The first factor in her decision is that Lydia is still practically a child. Lydia, being very immature ...

Wickham is not the same man in public as he is in private. Having a dreadful habit of gambling, Mr.
Wickham s debt steadily increased. Not having many finances with which to provide for Lydia meant
that she does not have a solid future. Also, Mr. Wickham is irresponsible with what little he does have.
George Wickham successfully manipulates many of the people whom he encounters to suit his
purposes.
Some people believe that Lydia made the correct decision when she chose to marry George Wickham.
During the early 1800s women were brought up to be able to run the house and not necessarily to be
well educated individuals. Marrying well and carrying on the legacy of the family was the most
important thing for women of that time. Her desperate need for attention has a major impact on Lydia
s choice. Since Lydia often acts like her mother, she does not think things through. Not to mention the
fact that being caught up in the thrills of love Lydia fell for Mr. Wickham, and cannot be swayed to
reconsider. Even though some people believe that Lydia made the correct decision by marrying Mr.
Wickham, she did not think through what consequences her actions could have on her future, and did
not worry about how her love, George Wickham, would provide for her or their

Metformin Hydrochloride Research Paper
Metformin hydrochloride is available as immediate release, extended release oral tablet and oral
solution. There are different brands available such as Glumetza, Fortamet, Glucophage (U.S. brands),
Diabex, Diaformin and Terry White Chemists Metformin (Australian brands).
Glucophage ER tablet uses the Gel Shield Diffusion System and it entails a dual hydrophilic polymer
matrix system. The external of the tablet is made up of a polymer that incorporates metformin
hydrochloride combined with a drug release controlling polymer in discrete particles form. As the
tablet is consumed, polymers of the tablet will hydrate and swell as the fluids from GI tract enters the
tablet. The drug is released at a controlled rate through diffusion in gel matrix that is essentially pH
independent. The peak concentration of this drug usually ranges from 4 8 hours and it is recommended

It comprises an osmotically active core formulation that is surrounded by a semi permeable
membrane. Two laser drilled holes exists on either side of the tablet. When it is ingested, the osmotic
pressure forces drug out of the holes at a desired rate as water enters the tablet. The drug is delivered
at a constant rate and it is dependent upon the maintenance of a constant osmotic gradient across the
membrane (7).
Information in regards to the gastro retentive technology of Australian brands metformin
hydrochloride such as Diabex, Diaformin, Terry White Chemists Metformin could not be found on the
internet. However, according to the PBS Australia website, Diabex is generally more expensive (AUD

premium price for Diabex (22). This price difference could affect patient s preference when it comes
to purchasing metformin medication as patients would most likely to buy medication that is cheaper
but has the same

Essay On Plutarch s Ides Of March
This essay will examine the events of the Ides of March, recreated within Shakespeare s modern play
Julius Caesar. The Ides of March in this essay refers to the day of Caesar s death 15th March 44 BCE.
Shakespeare depicts this event in depth, and over the course of multiple scenes within Julius Caesar.
This essay will primarily focus on Plutarch s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans: The Life of
Julius Caesar as an ancient source, as it was the primary text which Shakespeare drew from, as well as
being prominent in the Elizabethan public consciousness at the time of performance Plutarch s Lives
had only been recently translated in 1579 by Sir Thomas North. (Honigmann 1959, p.25)

In Plutarch s Brutus, Plutarch states that although the conspirators were fond of Cicero they feared that
the caution... combined with his natural timidity... and his habit of calculating all the details of every
enterprise... would blunt the edge of their ardour at a crisis which demanded speed. (Plutarch Life of
Brutus, 12.2) The conspirators leave Cicero out because they believe that he will slow their time
sensitive plans down and thus they leave him out of their plans. However, in Shakespeare s recreation,
Cicero is first suggested by Cassius and vouched for by Caska, Cinna, and Metellus. It is Brutus who
disagrees, stating that ...he will never follow any thing that other men begin. (Shakespeare Julius
Caesar, 2.1.151 2). This change is a prominent one, especially as Shakespeare often follows Plutarch s
works diligently. Honigmann suggests that Shakespeare wanted to highlight the determination of
Brutus to be the sole, undisputed leader of the conspirators (Honigmann 1959, p.30). It also
establishes the conspirators as a younger group, as Cicero is the only one described with silver hairs
(Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.145). By excluding Cicero they also exclude a potentially valuable
member Cicero is said to be wise and of good opinion (Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.146) his skills
as an orator will help sway the people to their cause. Nevertheless, Brutus refuses, and the others

King Lear And Ginny Analysis
In contrast to Shakespeare, Smiley allows a feminine standpoint offering a more positive outlook on
Rose and Ginny. In spite of the sinister image portrayed of Regan and Goneril in King Lear, Rose and
Ginny are found to be respectable daughters who instead of taking advantage of their father, only
offered their care and love for him. Ginny, the protagonist is seen to be submissive to the male figures
in her life, her father Larry and her husband Ty. Ginny takes on the role of a motherly and loving
character who not only takes care of her father and husband but also cares for her sisters Rose and
Coraline. When Larry gets into a car crash due to drinking and driving instead of leaving him stranded

Rose or I will give you breakfast at the regular time from now on, and you can just go out and work

ever since their mother s death, both Ginny and Rose make him breakfast every morning and obeyed
the demands made by their father. Rose sarcastically tells Ginny, You re such a good daughter, so slow
to judge, it s like stupidity (Smiley, 162). Rose s statement proves the type of person Ginny is selfless
and nurturing. As the novel goes on, readers come to learn that Ginny takes on the needs of others

The Social Studies Problem Solving Processes Essay
) What is meta cognition in social studies? Using three examples explain the social studies problem
solving processes.
Meta cognition in social studies is said to be the ability to use prior knowledge to plan a strategy for
approaching a learning task, take necessary steps to problem solving, reflect and evaluate results and
modify one s approach as needed. It can also be said to be awareness of one s own knowledge, what
one does and doesn t know, and one s ability to understand, control and manipulate one s cognitive
processes.
Meta cognition can therefore be defined as the knowledge and control people have over their thinking
and learning activities. It involves thinking about thinking that is to say, the knowledge and control
people have their own thinking and learning activities.
In relation to the acquisition of critical thinking skills, meta cognition refers to what a learner knows
about his/her thinking processes, (conscious awareness) and the ability to control these processes by
planning, choosing and monitoring. Literally, therefore, meta cognition means big thinking .
EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL STUDIES SOLVING PROCESS.
Problem solving process in social studies is defined as cognitive processing that is mental functioning
and thinking directed at achieving a goal when a solution method is obvious to the problem solver.
The processes or steps involved in problem solving are;
(1) Definition or identification of problem.
(2) Analyze the problem (determine or guess the

that father that while ali and his father have grown up together and have been companions since
childhood his father never mentions ali as a friend But in none of his stories did Baba ever refer to Ali
as his friend. This is as a result of society where people don t accept people of a lower class to have
any relationship with their master other than surviving providing service. This is repeated later when
Aamir admits that he too has never regarded hassen as a friend either although they do almost
everything together . This shows the impact of society on Aamir and his father as both are too afraid

Analysis Of Nicholas Kristof s Lecture On September 14th,...
During Nicholas Kristof s lecture on September 14th, 2015 evening, he talked about the problems of
the world and what are some ways that we can overcome them with innovation. He started with some
personal experience of traveling around the world with his family and used that to lead into his topic
of human trafficking. It pointed out that it is very prevalent in other countries, but also here in the US.
He promoted fixing our country before we start telling other countries what to do. He then brought up
his family pet which was his Father s Day present. He got a trained rat in his name that helped him
explain the new innovations to old problems. He explained that the technology and the researched
knowledge is massive and using that knowledge is crucial to change the world. Later, Kristof
explained the idea of prevention before need. He backed this motto up by presenting the ideas of
deworming children to increase school attendance, girls getting sex education knowledge and using
contraceptives, and early childhood education. All these had the push to do something before it is a
problem and how being proactive saves the public money. He has these ideas to help those who are
too poor to live and cannot afford the advantages of certain luxuries. Kristof ended the lecture in
promoting change and fighting for a cause. He mentioned to volunteer and take action no matter how
old or young a person may be and focus on a cause that means something personal to the individual so

Furthermore, I expect that REITs use relatively less debt for financing, because of the relatively higher
cost of debt.
Already in 1958, Modigliani and Miller have pointed the discussion of capital structure towards the
cost of debt and equity. According to their first proposition, in a world of no corporate taxes and with
perfect markets, financial leverage has no effect on a firm s value. In their second proposition, they
state that the cost of equity equals a linear function defined by the required return on assets and the
cost of debt (Modigliani and Miller, 1958).
As negative aspects of debt, e.g. personal tax loss and bankruptcy costs however do exist in reality,
Miller (1977) elaborates that leverage will either have no or a negative effect on the firm s value,
hence untaxed firms should favor equity.
Nevertheless, firms have used leverage even before corporate taxes have been introduced (Maris and
Elayan, 1990). This implies the existence of some market imperfections, which benefit the use of debt
financing, thus enable a trade off of the cost and benefits of debt resulting in an optimal capital
structure, where marginal cost equal marginal benefits.
In general, the majority of existing research is set up by taking the security issuance choice as the
dependent variable and then tests empirically for determinants based on data from one type of
companies. It needs to be taken into consideration that security issue decision and capital

Should Gaming Be A Sport Essay
Should Gaming Be A Sport?
I for one am for gaming be considered a sport. I am one of the guilty ones who can play them hours at
a time and maybe 8 hours straight but that s rare now. I ve had experience with gaming since I was
only three years old at which I had a gaming console, the Xbox 360. There are of course the people
who hate gamers and call them lazy then telling them to do something productive. Sure they could be
right in some aspect but what they don t realize what our brains are doing. That is a key point in which
this topic will be discussed.
Again with the people who hate gaming, most of them haven t even touched a game before and if they
have they most likely hated or didn t want anything to do with it. It s all about how you want to play
and getting better at it. Many people believe gaming is a useless effort which does no good for your
brains or body, while the body part can be true for those who don t actually do anything proactive as a
hobby can gain weight if they eat a lot while gaming or lose weight if they starve themselves to ...

somewhat, it s something called an eSport (electronic sport). Sure you can argue about how it s not a

July 2014, an outstanding 11,000 people stuffed themselves into a basketball arena in Seattle. They
were not there to watch a basketball game, but to watch gamers compete for $11 million in prize

of events for a good cause. Gaming takes an immense amount of practice, focus, and dedication which

Secret Service Definition
The United States Secret Service or USSS was established by President Abraham Lincoln (1861
1865), its main responsibility was to prevent counterfeiting(an imitation intended to be passed off

the bills were done by each state through banks, which made the monetary system vere disorganized.
After realizing that more than a third of the nation s money was counterfeit, changes needed to be
made in order to keep the economy balanced during the U.S.Civil War. With the help of The Secretary
of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch, President Lincoln created a Secret Service on July 5, 1865 (151

Pushed to the last breaking point, Teiresias finally reveals the truth that the audience has been waiting
for. However, instead of the anticipated cathartic climax to release the accumulated dramatic tension
and irony from Oedipus s misguided pursuit of the truth, the play bombards the audience with still
more tension and tragic irony in an emotional roller coaster as Oedipus and Iocaste attempts to run
away from their inevitable fate. Oedipus refuses to believe the truth Teiresias reveals. Wrongly
equating physical sight with mental insight, wit, and sense, he taunts Teiresias for his physical
blindness, calling him a sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man! (20) Reciprocating Oedipus insult

Although clear vision often represents intelligence and insight in Greek beliefs, Oedipus s perfect
eyesight does not help him see the truth. Ironically, it is the blind Teiresias who knows the most and
sees the farthest. Nevertheless, Oedipus is soon forced to confront the truth again, ironically because
Iocaste tries to steer him away from the truth, when the details she reveal about how King Laios is
killed matches in many details his own confrontation with King Laios. However, just as it seems
Oedipus and Iocaste have returned to the path to the truth and the ultimate climax, they diverge off the
path again as they latch themselves onto King Polybus s death as surefire evidence that Oedipus is not
the murderer. Oedipus is so happy and relieved to be able to convincingly blind himself to the truth
again that he displays no grief for the father he loved, declaring that Polybos has packed the oracles
off with him underground (50) with shocking triumph and carelessness for the

Strategic Analysis Of Pixar, Winston Churchill
Strategic Analysis: Pixar Winston Churchill once stated However beautiful the strategy, you should
occasionally look at the results . The current business environment is rapidly evolving due to the
pressures of changing technology as well as the increasing demands firms are under to expand
regionally and globally. Successful organizations in this often chaotic and changing environment must
continually scan their internal and external conditions in order to respond proactively to market
conditions and new trends. Firm leadership needs to not only have a vision for the organization s
future but also the ability to critically analyze the internal processes and structure of the firm in
comparison to the outcomes or results of the firm s current orientation. Strategy and vision are
meaningless if the way they are being executed does not provide the organization a sustainable
competitive advantage. Therefore it is critical that firm leadership examine how their organization is
implementing their strategy to determine its effectiveness and results. When examining how a firm is
implementing their strategy they should examine the internal organization and processes of the
organization. Within this paper we will examine how Pixar has utilizes processes and principles such
as behavioral controls, culture, boundaryless organization, learning organization, employee
empowerment, and a dispersed culture of creativity/entrepreneurial to retain its current market
position as a

Thomas Benton s Prelude To Death
The work I chose from the Missouri Historical Society is Thomas Benton s Prelude to Death. Based
on Appelbaum published in the Missourian, Benton painted this soon after the United States entered
World War II and it shows the first embarkation of American soldiers for Africa (2011). In the
painting, I am mainly focusing on the usage of shape, value and the color. This painting mainly
depicts a scene that soldiers are getting ready to go on board for fighting against the World War II.
They all wear on uniforms and most likely have already lined up in an order. Here is a very interesting
part I found from the painting. Most of the light is gathered on the soldier who leans backward and
stares at the spectators, comparing with the dark light

Stimulant Development
Introduction
Talk about what drug stimulant effects on growth. Given the deficit / hyperactivity and control of
population based birth cohort, the growth and development of the association between stimulant
treatment were studied. Children with ADHD treated raising questions about whether they grow.
Stimulant medications, such as methylphenidate and amphetamines is safe and effective in children
and adolescents with attention deficit disorder. Research on the issue of lack of growth suppression is
mainly due to inadequate follow up of patients at final height. In general, the rate of loss appears to be
relatively small height and possibly reversible with withdrawal of treatment.

Implications for physician
Been hypothesized that weight gain and growth in height, the height of the other to adjust to a new
equilibrium in stimulating drugs. Some of the data presented in support of this. The limited of data on
stimulant drugs to stop the growth is hypothesized that a similar mechanism applies.
Implications for future research
Although the driver of a favorable risk benefit, they carry potential risks for children using them.
Appetite suppression and weight loss is usually about side effects. Sudden death has been reported in
children using stimulant. A thorough history and physical examination with emphasis on the
identification of risk factors for sudden death exist before starting stimulant medications. However, no

Questions On Class Hierarchy Analysis
In other words, I started from the entry point and went through all the statements of method body.
Based on Class Hierarchy Analysis definition, for each call site b.n( ) in the method block, if static
type(b)=B, Then the targets of call site b.n( ) will be all concrete (non abstract) methods having the
same signature as method B.n( ) and declared by B or by any concrete subclasses of B including B
itself. According to this definition, I added reachable methods of each call site to the worklist then
made edges from source to reachable methods.
// initialization worklist.initialize() ; worklist while (worklist != empty) {
// remove next method from worklist
Method source = worklist.removeNext() ;
// process statements in source method for each (stmt in source) {
// if statement is a method/constructor call Method if (stmt is a InvokeStmt) { n =
stmt.getInvokedMethod() ;
List reachables = resolveDispatch(n) ; for each (Method target in reachables){ worklist.add (target) ;
callgraph.addEdge (source  target) ;
} // end of for} // end of if
} // end of for} // end of while
(A worklist approach for CHA algorithm)
The method resolveDispatch( ) finds reachable methods of each call site b.n( ) and for computing
reachable methods, at first I check if static type(b)= B and if B declares by signature method B.n( ),
then reachable methods are method n( ) in class B and all methods having signature B.n( ) defined in
concrete subclasses of B, else I have to look at the concrete

The Pros And Cons Of Overdeliver
Marketing and sales gurus, established coaches and other business experts chant
the same mantra...
Overdeliver, overdeliver, overdeliver.
You need to exceed expectations to overdeliver when you work with your
clients.
But I m not one to accept advice just because it s common or popular...
It s good to evaluate and analyze everything you hear and read based on your
personal experiences and observations...
This way, you don t get caught up in short lived trends or ideas that may harm
more than help your business.
I ve reflected on my own experiences working with countless coaches over
hundreds of hours and here s what I know...
Overdelivering is great...but only up to a point.
If you don t do it right, you could end up creating massive problems ... Show more content on

The coach tells the client to create this list so they can discuss it during a follow
up coaching session.
The client fails to do this. So the coach comes up with ideas for the client during
the follow up in an attempt to overdeliver.
In this all too common scenario, the coach does the client s work and the client
ends up with a great list of program ideas without having to do any of the
creative thinking or research.
Does this feel familiar?
If you do the work for your clients you are teaching them to depend on you.
You re demonstrating that they don t have the capability or the creativity to do
what it takes to create success in their own lives...
And without even meaning to, you ll end up disempowering your clients.
No matter how tempting it is, never do the work for your clients in the name of
overdelivering.
Instead hold your clients accountable for the work they must do so they can
create results they want in their lives.
If your goal is to overdeliver and exceed your clients expectations, pick just one
thing and be very specific...
For instance, if you re a business coach, share 5 marketing strategies instead of

It feels odd because it is mostly women who are walking towards the fields, since many of our men
have left to fight battles with the lord of the manor. In fact, that is why I am walking to the field,

Summary Of The End Of Days
They kissed like it was the end of days. Maxen s warm and sensuous mouth, and his eager kisses
forced all thoughts from Audra s mind, save how wonderful the weight of Maxen s muscular body felt
against hers. He was heavier than Carlton, larger, and yet she and Maxen fit together perfectly. He tore
his lips from hers and peppered her neck with gentle kisses while she eased her hands beneath his
tunic and ran her fingers up and down the warm skin of his back, appreciating the hard muscles
beneath her hands. And speaking of hard, as he kissed his way back up to her mouth, his erection
pressed into the V between her legs. He rocked his hips against hers as he claimed her mouth again,
and she wanted him, so, so badly. Maxen began to moan as his tongue tangled with hers, and he fisted
her hair. Maxen, she whispered against his mouth. She d planned to ask him to make love to her right

Essay On The Nutcracker
In modern times, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky s ballet, The Nutcracker, is a Christmas classic. With
memorable songs and beautiful instrumentation, many cannot imagine Christmas without it. Dance
companies perform the ballet year after year with spectators coming to watch annually. There have
even been LGBT, hip hop, and Jewish adaptations to the popular ballet (Begley). Thousands of
musicians and dancers all over the world perform it to add to the excitement and cheer of the holidays.
The original story of The Nutcracker started with ETA. Hoffmann s 1816 tale The Nutcracker and the
Mouse King that had been adapted by Alexandre Dumas in 1844 about a girl who befriends a
nutcracker on Christmas Eve and battles against the evil Mouse King (Schwarm). In 1892, the director
of the Russian Imperial Theatre, following the success of Tchaikovsky s Sleeping Beauty, devised the
ballet, setting ito Tchaikovsky s music with choreography by Marius Petipa, and premiering it a week
before Christmas (Burton Hill). Tchaikovsky first accepted the task to write the music from the
director of Moscow s Imperial Theatres, Ivan Vsevolozhsky (History of The Nutcracker). He began to
work while on an American tour for the opening of Carnegie Hall. His tour took him through Paris,
where he discovered a new instrument: the celesta. It had a clear, bell like tone that was perfectly
fitted to be the voice of his Sugar Plum Fairy. He immediately wrote to his publisher, asking that the

Cultural Analysis of Australia
Geography Australia is both the smallest and oldest continent in the world, and it is the only country
that is also a continent. [1] It is an island located between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific, just
south of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. At 2,941,299 square miles, Australia is the sixth largest
country in the world and only about 150,000 square miles (about the size of Montana) smaller than the
continental United States. Its interior land is a flat and sparsely populated desert, but as you move
outward the climate changes to grassland, subtropical, tropical, and even temperate in the southeastern
region. [1] While more than 70% of Australia is arid, the rest includes a variety of rich environments

Figure 2 Australian population concentrations by region. Growth Every state had population growth
between 2001 and 2011. Queensland recorded the largest growth (845,200 people), while Western
Australia recorded the fastest growth (24%). The Northern Territory had the smallest growth,
increasing by 33,600 people, while Tasmania and South Australia had the slowest growth (both 8.4%).
[6] A key contributor to change in the distribution of Australia s population is internal migration.
During 2009 2010, 331,400 people moved from one state or territory to another. This is an 8% drop
from the same period one year earlier (359,900). [6] In 2009 2010, Victoria, Queensland, Western
Australia and Tasmania all recorded net interstate migration gains, while New South Wales, South
Australia, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory had net interstate migration losses.
Queensland has recorded positive net interstate migration for more than 30 years; in contrast, New
South Wales has had net losses every year since 1978. However, any losses due to net interstate
migration in 2009 were offset by growth due to natural increase (births minus deaths) and net overseas
migration. [7] Age Distribution The life expectancy in Australia is among the highest in the world at

Dual Language Learners Are Children Learning Two Or More
Dual language learners are children learning two or more languages at the same time, as well as those
learning a second language while continuing to develop their first (or home) language (Dual language
learning, 2008). The number of children being raised in bilingual homes is large and growing,
however the mechanism of language development in children from bilingual homes is not well
described or understood (Hoff et al., 2011). A large body of research has refuted the opinion that dual
language input may confuse children, and other research indicates that children exposed to two
languages can distinguish those languages from infancy, learn two phonological systems, two
vocabularies and two grammars (Kova´cs Mehler, 2009a; Petitto, ... Show more content on

The goals for students in dual language education programs include high levels of bilingualism and
biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross cultural competence for all students (Lindholm Leary,
2012). Dual language immersion programs integrate language and academic content instruction in
English and a partner language to promote bilingualism and biliteracy.
Heritage languages refer to the languages spoken by immigrants and their children and has recently
come to be used broadly by those concerned about the study, maintenance, and revitalization of non
English languages in the United States (Montrul, 2012). Heritage language learners contain a
heterogeneous group ranging from fluent native speakers to non speakers who may be generations
removed but who may feel culturally connected to a language (Deusen Scholl, 2003). A heritage
language program is any language development program that is designed or tailored to address the
needs of heritage language learners, and heritage language programs may be at any level or setting and
vary in terms of their approaches to teaching, populations they serve, and other factors (Chao, 1997).
Heritage language programs have three major educational contexts: community based program, K 12,
and higher education. Heritage language schools are often created out of a community s desire to pass
on their language and culture from one generation to the next in order to maintain connections within
families and communities

Faith Community Nursing Essay
Disease of the soul are more dangerous and more numerous than those of the body Cicero. Wow was
my first though after reading this quote. It spoke to me on so many levels. From my understanding, I
believe it s saying healing is not only for the body, but for the soul as well; not treating the soul is way
worst then not treating the body. The body is the physical which is seen with the naked eye while the
soul is the inner most part of the body which is unseen and in most cases is left untreated. In my
opinion healing the body is just as important as healing the soul. When I decided to become a nurse, I

Economic Analysis of an Oligopoly Market Structure
1. Introduction
1a. Article Summary
In this article Michael Baker discusses the livelihood of small retailers in a market subjugated by the
financially dominant oligopolies, Woolworths and Coles. While the small independent retailers in
direct competition with Woolworths and Coles provide some competitive respite for consumers, as
they encourage competitive pricing, albeit predatory pricing, it is clear that Woolworths and Coles
control the supermarket industry in Australia, in the formation of a duopoly. It is evident that
Woolworths and Coles engage in predatory pricing in an attempt to eliminate independent retailers
from the market. This article discusses recent efforts made by the Australian government and the
Australian Competition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Woolworths and Coles would have agreements with farmers to supply exclusively to them, in
exchange for the firm purchasing all of their quality produce. Woolworths and Coles are also more
likely to be able to purchase products, including fruit and vegetables, for a cheaper price than small,
independent sellers, as they are purchasing in bulk. According to McKenzie (2002) No major supplier,
no matter how big or powerful they are, can afford to be offside, or out of favour, with Coles or
Woolworths .
Economies of scale give Woolworths and Coles an advantage over smaller retailers because, as a
result of their large scale production, they are able to produce at a lower average cost, allowing them
to sell goods to consumers at a lower price. This competitive pricing eventually forces smaller firms
out of the market, as they are unable to match the predatory pricing, due to a lack of economies of
scale.
Because Woolworths and Coles generally have homogenous products, they rely on a heavy use of
advertising, in order to avoid competitive pricing with each other. Oligopolies tend to avoid
competitive pricing at all costs, as the worst case scenario of this is a price war, which generally
cannot be escaped, resulting in one survivor, who goes on to become the monopolist.
It is evident that Woolworths and Coles are mutually interdependent, whereby each of the firms
pricing strategies relate to, and depend on, each

Caution In The Tell Tale Heart

pull of a cautious, perfect plan and not get caught? Did your emotions ever overcome you and cause
you to confess? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you may be able to connect with
the main character of this story. In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart is about a man that kills an
old man because of his eye with a film over it. He dismembers the body and buries him under the

The Contributions Of Louis Pasteur
Louis Pasteur was a biologist and a French chemist who made major contributions to chemistry,

Personal Biography
Louis Pasteur born on December 27, 1822, in Dole, France. He grew up in the town of Arbois. His
father, Jean Joseph Pasteur was a tanner and a sergeant major. Since his father was decorated with the

The other children died of typhoid. But it was this tragedy of losing his children that inspired Louis
Pasteur to try to discover cures for diseases like the typhoid. He was affected very deeply over his loss
and that is what gave him the inspiration to do something for incurable diseases.
Scientific Biography
In 1854 he was a chemistry professor at the university of Lille, and it was here where he started
working with the germ theory. Although he did not invent the germ theory, he was able to further
develop it by demonstrating that bacteria was responsible for souring wine, beer and milk. People in
those days believed that germs just popped out of nowhere but Pasteur proved otherwise. Through his
experiments he showed that bacteria did not just appear but it came from other living things. It was
this that earned him the nickname Father of the Germ Theory. Using his knowledge of germs he went
on to invent pasteurization. He found that boiling and then cooling liquid could remove bacteria. Not
only will this kill all the bacteria making the beverages safer to drink, it also made them last longer.
Pasteur kept learning about bacteria and he started to think that it had something to do with why
humans get diseases. In 1865, Louis Pasteur helped save the silk industry. He investigated why
silkworms were getting a disease, which was threatening the French silk market. He proved that
microbes were attacking the healthy silkworm eggs and he said if the microbes

system, not just for Canada, but for the rest of the world as Responsible Government would eventually
spread over the globe throughout the 20th century. This completely new political system, never seen
before in the world, was eventually adopted by countries such as Australia and New Zealand (Jansen).
And the means by which it was attained, focused on restraint and peaceful resolution of conflict,
paved the way for great leaders such as Gandhi and Mandela (Saul, 201). Through Louis Hippolyte
Lafontaine and Robert Baldwin, the achievement of responsible government marked our initial
transition from decades of autocracy to ultimately full democracy. And this watershed in Canada s

Descartes Arguments For The Mind Body Problem
The mind body problem can be understood in the following way, there is something it is like to be and
this being is by its nature subjective and an organism has conscious metal states only if there is
something it is like to be that organism. This indeed seems to be incredibly perplexing to explain in
terms of science because science the way it is practiced currently only explains phenomena
objectively, either it tries to reduce and explain the subjective in terms of objective processes or only
makes co relation of the subjective processes to the objective processes but if it only makes co relation
then it is not able to explain the subjective itself. For example take the color red, no account of any
physical theory of light wave, how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea was first pointed to as far back as Thomas Hobbes and Pierre Gassendi, they both made
claims which now would be understood as mind/brain identity theory (R 39). However it wasn t till
the mid nineteen hundreds this claim was systematically fleshed out by a group of Australian
philosophers which included J.J.C Smart. Smart gives the following analogy to make the argument
clear, mental states are identical to brain states in the same way water in identical to H2O or lightning
is identical to atmospheric electrical discharge. To further clarify the argument we will explain the
important distinction between token and types. Imagine that there are four German Shepard s playing
in the park, in this case we have four tokens of the type German Shepard. The tokens are the
individual dogs and the type is the kind or class they belong to. The German Shepherds also belong to
many other types for example, mammals, animals, material, object, etc. Now that we have the
distinction between tokens and types clear we can further proceed and explain token identity and type
identity. Take for example Superman and Clark Kent are the same person so if were to be invited to a
party by Clerk Kent you are simultaneously invited to the party by Superman. Thus Clerk Kent and
Superman being the same person are token identical.

The Economic Crisis Of Iceland
Even though freedom for the private sector is a virtue, there should be government regulation in place
due to corporate official s inability to satiate their hunger for personal wealth endangering the global
economy and the event in 2008 which was the global economic crisis occurring which could have
been prevented or at least lessened.
Iceland is known for its beautiful landscapes and vast expanses of nature. Human civilization sparsely
dots the land creating an aura of solitude everywhere you go. Iceland can boast that it has good
education, clean air, and barely any crime. However, in 2000 the government in Iceland initiated a
plan for a broad policy of deregulation. Which would begin a set of disastrous events.
Iceland began with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American accounting firms audited the Icelandic banks and investment firms which found nothing to
be out of the ordinary. Credit rating agencies reported that Iceland was blooming in the economy.
Credit rating agencies promoted the banks to the highest possible rating of Triple A in 2007.
Then in 2008 Iceland s banks collapsed causing countless people to lose their savings. Unemployment
tripled in the six months. Government regulators, whose job was to ensure financial stability, had done
nothing. One third of Iceland s regulators worked at those banks. This problem exists the U.S.
In September of 2008 the U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy and the
collapse of AIG, the world s largest insurance company, initiated the global financial crisis. The effect
this had on shares globally was catastrophic. This in turn cost the world tens of trillions of dollars,
doubling the national debt of the Unites States and rendering thirty million people unemployed. This
crisis was not an accident. It was caused by an industry which had no supervision.
Since the 1980 s the rise of the U.S. financial sector has led to a series of increasingly dire financial
crisis. Each one of them causing more damage while the industry has made more and more money.
After the Great Depression the U.S. had forty years of economic growth without another crisis.

  • 2. Holiday Break Research Paper Over the holiday break, I did lots of fun things. I spent time with family, I hung out with friends, and I went to Branson. I really enjoyed the break and had tons of fun! For Christmas, we always meet up with my dad s side of the family the Saturday before Christmas and they all come over to my house. We ate dinner with them and opened up presents. On Christmas Eve morning, my family and I went to my church for a candlelight service. That night we also went to the candlelight service at Immanuel Baptist Church to meet up with some friends and family. I came to McGill University from a high school environment that was not particularly inclusive, but frosh taught me how to further involve my peers to have an even better experience. Whenever one is in a group setting, it is important to make sure everyone feels welcomed without damaging the social structure of the current group context. In other words, it isn t right to let one person in attendance sit out and feel unwelcome, but it is also not very fair to divert attention away from other people just to attend to the newcomer. Inclusivity means effective integration, not special attention. I believe the best way to positively incorporate these values would be to make the concept of inclusivity more available to the participants. Analysis Of Bartholomew Quot ; An Adult Attachment Model Bartholomew Horowitz (1991) developed an adult attachment model conceptualized through the understanding that a person s image of the self and the other is dichotomized as positive or negative. Through this framework they developed four dimensions, that range from a combination of understanding the self as worthy of love or not and seeing other people as trustworthy or unreliable. This paper will focus on one dimension, dismissive attachment, and how the behaviors, thoughts, and feelings associated with this group disrupts the fundamental need for meaningful connections to people. Those experiences with the caretaker are internalized and become a model for attachment expectations in later relationships. Attachment styles provide internal working models through which individuals perceive and relate to the world and to others (Shorey Snyder 2006). The type of attachment style impacts what kinds of internal working models are developed. Subsequently, if an internal working model is seen as dysfunctional, there is the possibility of creating vulnerabilities to the development of psychopathology. Bartholomew Horowitz (1991) also defined the different attachment styles, secure, preoccupied, fearful, and dismissive, according to dependence and avoidance. The researchers defined avoidance as the degree to which people avoid close contact with others as a result of their expectation of aversive consequences; and dependence is defined on a spectrum where those low in dependence represents the establishment of positive self regard internally without the need for validation from others and those high in dependence are only able to internalize positive self regard when they receive constant external validation. When combining the two dimensions, a dismissive attachment style indicates feelings of worthiness combined with a negative regard for other people. • 6. Rise Of The Robots Analysis Essay 3: Rise of the Robots In Mr. Martin Ford s Rise of the Robots, the author argues that the economic future is in danger due to technology overtaking the workforce. As technology becomes smarter, they have taken over the jobs that humans have previously done. However, it is not just simple tasks, but intricate tasks that require multiple steps, such as brain surgery. Mr. Ford presents a valid argument of that at the rate that technology is progressing, it will probably only be a few decades before robotics overtake the workforce. Mr. Ford s main argument is that coming technology will have a profound impact on our economics. Even today, we have automated robots doing tasks that, formally, humans couldn t preform with such accuracy, such as self driving cars and even surgeries. Robots are able to assemble other robots via the assembly lines. Increasingly, technology is advancing faster than humans in discovering ways to complete tasks. Technology is becoming exponentially better at writing its own programing, raising the question why could they not overtake all jobs currently performed by humans. Surgery is a major example of how robots have surpassed the human capabilities, being able to complete the procedure with minimal invasiveness. It is already unique enough for a robot to assemble a washing machine, per say, but now they are able to perform tasks that humans cannot even complete. All who know this story and have any common sense can agree that Lydia was not the wisest person. She makes a poor marriage choice when she decides to run away with Mr. Wickham for three reasons: Lydia was practically a child, Mr. Bennet her father, does not think too highly of Mr. Wickham, and Mr. Wickham was not the same man in public as he was in private. George Wickham successfully manipulates many of the people whom he encounters to suit his purposes. Some people believe that Lydia made the correct decision when she chose to marry George Wickham. During the early 1800s women were brought up to be able to run the house and not necessarily to be well educated individuals. Marrying well and carrying on the legacy of the family was the most important thing for women of that time. Her desperate need for attention has a major impact on Lydia s choice. • 14. The Social Studies Problem Solving Processes Essay ) What is meta cognition in social studies? Using three examples explain the social studies problem solving processes. Meta cognition in social studies is said to be the ability to use prior knowledge to plan a strategy for approaching a learning task, take necessary steps to problem solving, reflect and evaluate results and modify one s approach as needed. It can also be said to be awareness of one s own knowledge, what one does and doesn t know, and one s ability to understand, control and manipulate one s cognitive processes. Meta cognition can therefore be defined as the knowledge and control people have over their thinking and learning activities. It involves thinking about thinking that is to say, the knowledge and control people have their own thinking and learning activities. In relation to the acquisition of critical thinking skills, meta cognition refers to what a learner knows about his/her thinking processes, (conscious awareness) and the ability to control these processes by planning, choosing and monitoring. Literally, therefore, meta cognition means big thinking . EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL STUDIES SOLVING PROCESS. The current business environment is rapidly evolving due to the pressures of changing technology as well as the increasing demands firms are under to expand regionally and globally. Successful organizations in this often chaotic and changing environment must continually scan their internal and external conditions in order to respond proactively to market conditions and new trends. Firm leadership needs to not only have a vision for the organization s future but also the ability to critically analyze the internal processes and structure of the firm in comparison to the outcomes or results of the firm s current orientation. Strategy and vision are meaningless if the way they are being executed does not provide the organization a sustainable competitive advantage. Therefore it is critical that firm leadership examine how their organization is implementing their strategy to determine its effectiveness and results. When examining how a firm is implementing their strategy they should examine the internal organization and processes of the organization. Based on Class Hierarchy Analysis definition, for each call site b.n( ) in the method block, if static type(b)=B, Then the targets of call site b.n( ) will be all concrete (non abstract) methods having the same signature as method B.n( ) and declared by B or by any concrete subclasses of B including B itself. According to this definition, I added reachable methods of each call site to the worklist then made edges from source to reachable methods. // initialization worklist.initialize() ; worklist while (worklist != empty) { // remove next method from worklist Method source = worklist.removeNext() ; // process statements in source method for each (stmt in source) { // if statement is a method/constructor call Method if (stmt is a InvokeStmt) { n = stmt.getInvokedMethod() ; List reachables = resolveDispatch(n) ; for each (Method target in reachables){ worklist.add (target) ; callgraph.addEdge (source  target) ; } // end of for} // end of if } // end of for} // end of while (A worklist approach for CHA algorithm) The method resolveDispatch( ) finds reachable methods of each call site b.n( ) and for computing reachable methods, at first I check if static type(b)= B and if B declares by signature method B.n( ), then reachable methods are method n( ) in class B and all methods having signature B.n( ) defined in concrete subclasses of B, else I have to look at the concrete ... While the small independent retailers in direct competition with Woolworths and Coles provide some competitive respite for consumers, as they encourage competitive pricing, albeit predatory pricing, it is clear that Woolworths and Coles control the supermarket industry in Australia, in the formation of a duopoly. It is evident that Woolworths and Coles engage in predatory pricing in an attempt to eliminate independent retailers from the market. Woolworths and Coles would have agreements with farmers to supply exclusively to them, in exchange for the firm purchasing all of their quality produce. Woolworths and Coles are also more likely to be able to purchase products, including fruit and vegetables, for a cheaper price than small, independent sellers, as they are purchasing in bulk. According to McKenzie (2002) No major supplier, no matter how big or powerful they are, can afford to be offside, or out of favour, with Coles or Woolworths . Economies of scale give Woolworths and Coles an advantage over smaller retailers because, as a result of their large scale production, they are able to produce at a lower average cost, allowing them to sell goods to consumers at a lower price. This competitive pricing eventually forces smaller firms out of the market, as they are unable to match the predatory pricing, due to a lack of economies of scale. Because Woolworths and Coles generally have homogenous products, they rely on a heavy use of advertising, in order to avoid competitive pricing with each other. Oligopolies tend to avoid competitive pricing at all costs, as the worst case scenario of this is a price war, which generally cannot be escaped, resulting in one survivor, who goes on to become the monopolist. Although he did not invent the germ theory, he was able to further develop it by demonstrating that bacteria was responsible for souring wine, beer and milk. Not only will this kill all the bacteria making the beverages safer to drink, it also made them last longer. Pasteur kept learning about bacteria and he started to think that it had something to do with why humans get diseases. In 1865, Louis Pasteur helped save the silk industry. This indeed seems to be incredibly perplexing to explain in terms of science because science the way it is practiced currently only explains phenomena objectively, either it tries to reduce and explain the subjective in terms of objective processes or only makes co relation of the subjective processes to the objective processes but if it only makes co relation then it is not able to explain the subjective itself. Smart gives the following analogy to make the argument clear, mental states are identical to brain states in the same way water in identical to H2O or lightning is identical to atmospheric electrical discharge. To further clarify the argument we will explain the important distinction between token and types. Imagine that there are four German Shepard s playing in the park, in this case we have four tokens of the type German Shepard. The tokens are the individual dogs and the type is the kind or class they belong to. The German Shepherds also belong to many other types for example, mammals, animals, material, object, etc. Now that we have the distinction between tokens and types clear we can further proceed and explain token identity and type identity. Take for example Superman and Clark Kent are the same person so if were to be invited to a party by Clerk Kent you are simultaneously invited to the party by Superman. Thus Clerk Kent and Superman being the same person are token identical. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
