The New Business Model Go After Sprint Purchased Radioshack
Our research for RadioShack consisted mainly of studying the RadioShack history, why would it
goes bankrupt in 2015, advantages and disadvantages of RadioShack comparing to Amazon, the
local RadioShack business in Purdue and how would the new business model go after sprint
purchased RadioShack. We found these information and studies for RadioShackare important
because they can help audiences to insight RadioShack and understand why would it goes bankrupt.
RadioShack Corporation is an American wireless and electronics company owned by the
affiliate General Wireless. It has 6,874 stores in U.S. In the same time, it has branch stores
around the world, which are in Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, The UK and the other
countries. In 1921, the company was started a small, wooden structure and selling radio
equipment. In 1990s, the company had developed as a wide business company and it was
focusing on marketing wireless phones, and it started to get into mainstream consumer markets
and compete with big vendors like, best buy and wart mart. In 2015, Radio Shack is facing
bankrupt and it delayed rent payments to some commercial landlords. In the same time
RadioShack is selling half of their stores to sprint and closing the rest of the stores. According to
the article The 5 Reasons Why RadioShack Went Out of Business by Andriy Blokhin, it concludes
five reasons why RadioShack failed in 2015. First, RadioShack has too many stores and

Meta-Analysis Sample
Synthesis of the Research
A solid school vision statement and its accompanying goals should reflect the culture of a school
and provide for improvement in the school s instructional program, and professional development
to improve student learning (ELCC 2). The meta analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty
(2005) discovered the importance of each of these dimensions in relationship to school principals
and the successful school environment. Furthermore, principals skill in each of these dimensions
has demonstrated a positive correlation to student achievement (Marzano et al.).
With regard to culture, the role of the principal has been found to have a direct impact on the
culture of the school (Marzano et al., 2005). The principal is ... Show more content on

on the intent of the evaluations as a learning activity, engaging teachers in self reflective

I realize that there would be instances where people would need more guidance or structure, but I
feel that the nature of the Danielson framework allows for a principal to design a relevant
professional development plan as

Stereotype Threats
Stereotype threats, the risks of confirming as self characteristic a negative stereotype about one s
group, appear everywhere around the world (Steele, Claude, Aronson, and Spencer). Where there is
diversity in any sense of the word, there is a stereotype threat poised to negatively affect its victims.
Stereotypethreats and their negative effects have been found in educational institutions, the
workforce, negotiation, athletics, and even child care (Stroessner and Good, 3).
Stereotype threats have been proven to affect one s performance and ability to complete universal
tasks by inducing anxiety in its victims. In a study addressing race gaps in college level
standardized test performance, inducing stereotype threat emphasizing intelligence ... Show more

The concept of disidentification is the psychological disengagement from achievement
hypothesized to help students cope with stereotype threat and underperformance in a given
domain (Aronson, Fried, Good 114). For example, an illiterate person is more likely to claim the
ability to read and write has no correlation with intelligence than a literate person. In the same
study, African American students were more likely to disassociate academic success with self
esteem because of the stereotype threat that they are less likely to be academically successful.
This meant, over time, they felt less inclined to perform well in school because it had no effect on
their self worth, resulting in poorer test results, poorer grades, and lesser success in collegiate
academics. In the same vein, African American students that did not disidentify with academic
success correlation with self esteem were more likely to drop out of school, because they could not
ignore the increased anxiety spurred by stereotype threat (Aronson, Fried, Good 115).
The psychology behind stereotype threats is universal. A stereotype threat imposed on an
individual can increase that individual s anxiety about a task, and therefore lower the success his
performance. For example, the stereotype threat the women are poorer drivers than men affects
their ability to successfully avoid collision. When reminded that women are poor drivers, female
drivers were twice as likely to collide with jaywalking pedestrians than women not reminded of this
stereotype threat (Yeung and Von Hippel,

Comparing The Sefer Ha-Bahir And Revelations Of Divine Love
The Jewish text The Sefer ha Bahir as well as the Christian Julian of Norwich s Revelations of
Divine Love are both considered to be works of mysticism, although they are entirely different
styles of writing, the prior being a rabbinic commentary of the Torah while the latter is in an
autobiographical style. Mysticism is generally defined as a direct, personal experience of the
divine. This definition lacks a key component of the mysticism found in these two works. The
authors are not merely experiencing the divine, either through the Torah or visions, they are
gaining knowledge of the divine in the process. This is evident in the titles of the texts as well as
within the texts. The Sefer ha Bahir and Revelations of Divine Love do conform... Show more

The reason why the definition of mysticism should be expanded upon in light of these two texts,
even though the original definition is not incorrect, is because it does shroud the significance of
the knowledge and understanding gained in these works of mysticism. Mysticism is not simply
a spiritual experience or the presence of the divine; the texts demonstrate that knowledge of the
divine is deepened through these experiences. It can be seen in this quote from The Bahir that
the rabbi are coming to a deeper understanding through reading the Torah: Why does the verse
not say, And it was so ? What is this like? A king had a beautiful object. He puts it away until he
had a place for it, and then he put it there (haKana 25). The Bahir writes of more than just a
divine experience because the rabbi are gaining knowledge of the meaning behind passages of the
Torah. Julian also writes not only of journey to God, but a journey that teaches her divine
knowledge. On the first page she writes, ...with many fair shewings of endless wisdom and
teachings of love... (Norwich 1). Julian is

Isolation, Loneliness And Symbolism In Hands, By Sherwood...
Symbolism is very crucial in literature, especially in short fiction. In the short story Hands, by
Sherwood Anderson, Anderson gives a perfect example of symbolism. In the story Hands,
Anderson uses symbolism of the hands of Wing Biddlebaum to show the meaning of the story.
Anderson explores the theme of isolation and loneliness, through the symbolization of Wing s
hands. By Anderson writing Hands is showing how the protagonist hands symbolizes the many
ways of him feeling isolated and lonely in Ohio. The main character, Wing Biddlebaum, formally
known as Adolph Myers, was accused of inappropriately touching the young boys he used to teach
in a town in Pennsylvania. After the fathers of the young boys found

Compare And Contrast Classical And Classical Macroeconomics

Brief:
Compare Keynesian and classical macroeconomic thought, discussing the Keynesian explanation of
prolonged recessionary and inflationary gaps as well as the Keynesian approach to correcting these
problems.
One of the many wonders of the internet is that it is possible to directly access and easily search
the major works of David Ricardo and John Maynard Keynes, rather than just reading what later
thinkers have read into them. Doing this emphasises the point that they are not the respective
champions of classical macroeconomics and keynesian macroeconomics , engaged in a live debate

There are mass trends that act as laws, irrespective of an individual actor or a single government.
This can be seen as an analogy to physical laws. Gravity always acts to make things fall
downwards. Goods get more expensive when demand rises for scarce items. Economic man
always seek to maximise his advantages. To say that classical economists like David Ricardo
believed that governments could never have a beneficial effect on an economy would be like
saying that governments can never pick anything off the floor and put it back on a shelf. Ricardo
never said that. A full century after Ricardo, Keynes showed that governments could act to mitigate
the effects of a recession by stimulating demand. He did not claim that he could flatten the
economic cycle so that markets never expanded or

Gingivitis And Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease has two categories to classify that is known as gingivitis and periodontitis.
Periodontal disease is known as a bacteria infection that induces an inflammatory response in the
periodontal tissue (230 Gehrig,J).
Gingivitis is a bacterial infection that just invade the gingiva, without any bone attachment loss.
The connective tissue is damaged at this point, but still can be reversed with good oral hygiene and
route dental visits. Most common bacteria associated with gingivitis would be due to dental plaque
biofilm. Dental plaque biofilm can invade the gingiva at different rates depending on the
individual, and possibly going through three stages, which are initial, early and established lesions.
Gingivitis is classified

Five Cinematic Techniques In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
In Rear Window, by Alfred Hitchcock, Jeff, a photographer in New York City, breaks his leg
while trying to take a photo at an auto race and gets stuck in his apartment until his leg heals. To
pass the time, Jeff spies on his neighbors with his photo lenses. However, while in the process of
spying on his neighbors, the Thorwalds, he suspects that a gruesome murder may have taken place
in the household. In Rear Window, Hitchcock creates a suspenseful tone by utilizing five cinematic
terms: sound effects, zoom shot, reaction shot, symbol, and point of view. In the beginning of Rear
Window, while Jeff is spying on his neighbors, he hears the melodious piano keys of a fun loving
composer, the sweet nothings of newlyweds, and the bickering of the Thorwalds, a middle aged
married couple. Immediately, the audience senses that something is not right with the Thorwalds,
when Hitchcock juxtaposes the sweet sound of the neighbors with the Thorwald s constant
squabbling. Thus, Hitchcock uses sound effects to make the viewer question the relationship of the
Thorwalds, and creates a suspenseful tone with the Thorwald s constant bickering. As the movie
Rear Window progresses, Jeff notices that something funny is going on in the Thorwald s... Show

Thorwald s flowerbed is located, and starts to dig it up out of suspension. They believe that Mrs.
Thorwald s body is hiding beneath the soil. However, after the search for Mrs. Thorwald s body
failed, Lisa begins to climb up into Mr. Thorwald s apartment in hopes of finding Mrs. Thorwald
s wedding ring. Mrs. Thorwald s wedding ring is symbolic because it represented the symbol of Mr.
and Mrs. Thorwald s love, but now it represents the downfall of their love. Hitchcock uses
symbolism to show how a symbol of love, a wedding ring, can also be a symbol of downfall.
Hitchcock also uses this symbol in the story to create a suspenseful

COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE WAY WORDSWORTH AND HUGHES WRITE ABOUT
NATURE
IN THEIR POEMS DAFFODILS AND THISTLES
Hughes wrote the poem Thistles which is about how these plants are.
He speaks about them as if they were a sign of violence, and violent creatures. He views them as a
symbol of vengeance, pain and threat.
The thistles are spiky and can hurt anyone. They are dull, immortal, green, rough, and produce a big
amount of chaos, written in????????
Wordsworth on the other hand, wrote about Daffodils which are small golden flowers. They look
vivid, colourful and peaceful. These flowers produce a state of calm, sweet and memorable
moments. Written in romantic era of literature, in 1804

The form of Hughes poem contributes to its content and theme in many ways. The theme of the
poem is that the thistles represent a battle.
More and more plants appear, and the other plants get other older.
They get chopped, it becomes a big fight. So the theme is about a battle that takes place which
some thistles moaned and some are planted. The theme is mainly about violence and about how the
thistles are, what they look like. The Daffodils poem has a different theme.
The theme is about happiness, joy and good things in life when daffodils are around, how
colourful they are their movement and the way that they have affected Wordsworth s life. The
form makes the theme and content be different to the form of the Thistles poem. The content of
the Daffodils poem is that it is full of words that makes you feel calm and relaxed while you read
the poem, as it has nice and sweet things, and the way Wordsworth expresses his feelings for the
daffodils is such that it even affects the content, it makes the content better.
Each poet has used language to communicate atmosphere, ideas and attitudes in their poems. In
each poem there are a few aspects in language which are quite effective. In Hughes poem, he uses
olden language and olden words to communicate the feeling of the thistles.
He uses rough words, and horrible words to create an atmosphere like
or crackle open under a blue black pressure .

The Human Relations Movement Of George Elton Mayo
Managers throughout history have been interested in studying ways to increase productivity. For
example, Frederick Taylor began the movement of scientific management in the 1880 s. Scientific
management looked to improve productivity through means of scientific analysis of worker s tasks
and work processes rather than the old rule of thumb (Taylor, 1914). Taylor believed that he could
maximize worker efficiency and productivity through focusing on workers specific hand motions
and patterns. After this period, beginning in about the 1930 s, managers looked to take productivity
to yet another level by studying worker physiology and motivation. This new movement came to be
known as the human relations movement. George Elton Mayo is credited with founding the
human relations movement. Mayo conducted an experiment in the 1920 s and 1930 s know as the
Hawthorne study. Two of the main aspects of the study centered around illumination in the work
place and varying levels of break time and work hours (Wickström, 2000). The illumination study
consisted of four different experiments over the course of three years. In each experiement, there
was a control group and a study group. In the varying studies, the researchers experimented with
varying levels of light and varying sequences of increasing and decreasing the level of light (
Hawthorne effect). Throughout the experiments, researchers would often find patterns of increased
productivity, leading them to believe that they had

Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style
Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown
especially in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period
shows just how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible.
Throughout the time period writingand beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing
American poet Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include
poems such as To My Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th,
1666 and while Edwards wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an
Angry God. These works differ in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in
regards to writing styleand beliefs presented in these works.
The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing
styles. Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they
write, and what they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s
composition and rhyme scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme
is a very basic A A B B scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were
one, then surely we./If ever man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate
the simplicity in her writing. Contrast this to the opening lines of Sinners in the Hands of an

Hollow Men Analysis
The Real Life (A Discussion on Three Messages in T.S. Eliot s Hollow Men) T.S Eliot was the
most famous English poet of his time, and he was one of the most influential poet. His
distinctive style of writing took the attention of not only other poets, but many people all over
the world. Thomas Stearns Eliot is best known as a poet and literary critic (he received the
Nobel Prize for literature in 1948), but his work in social and cultural theory has also been widely
influential (Edwards). T.S. Eliot s style of writing was mostly a pessimistic view on life. One of
the best examples of his pessimistic view on life comes from his work The Hollow Men. The

The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot expresses the message of modern life doesn t appreciate faith. T.S.
Eliot came to the conclusion that people of the modern generation have lost their faith that
people once had. Eliot was nothing if not a seeker: seeking to reconcile the culture he saw with
what he hoped it to be; seeking to reconcile an inner despair with a parallel want of faith
(Dobrinska). In The Hollow Men Eliot describes how people don t put religion above all things
important anymore. He explains we shifted to craving liberation not religion. At the end of the
poem, eliot tries to recite God s words but is unable because the modern world no longer knows
them. For thine is, life is, for thine is the (91). Eliot ends the poem with these words to really hit
hard the point that religion is falling apart, and the modern world no longer believes in the idea.
T.S. Eliot s last message in his literary work The Hollow Men is that the modern world lack
integrity. Eliot explains that the modern world is afraid to meet our ancestors in the other side.
Let me also wear such deliberate disguises (32). The modern world is embarrassed about the
lives we live. The modern era hides their face from the ancestors because our lives are not as
valuable as their lives once were. The modern era doesn t accomplish as much importance as the
times before. It contains the poet s reflection on the subject of human nature in this world, and

Pan Africanism For Beginners Essay
Sid Lemelle hoped for his book, Pan Africanism for Beginners, to be a comprehensive guide to the
complex concept of Pan Africanism. Lemelle begins the book by broadly defining Pan Africanism
to mean the inclusion of all people of African ancestry living in continental Africa and throughout
the world. This definition sets the foundation for his analysis of Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism for
Beginners explores the major leaders and events associated with Pan African sentiments
chronologically. The exploration begins with the early pioneers of Pan Africanism (20) such as
Prince Hall, Paul Cuffe, Dr. Martin R. Delany, and Fredrick Douglass. While this was an early
stage of Pan Africanism, conflicting views on how to deal the issues of racism and oppression.
Prince Hall and Paul Cuffe believed in the emigration of blacks to Africa. However, Dr. Delany and
Frederick Douglass argued against emigration. Instead, they believed that the United States was
their home, and that they should remain (25). Lemelle notes that Dr. Delany later changed his
attributes, however it is unclear if he changes his views from support of emigration to opposition
to emigration or vice versa. This is not a major weakness; however, it did confuse me as a reader
attempting to understand the beginnings of Pan Africanism. One of the initial major Pan African
events Lemelle introduced was the creation of Sierra Leone s Province of Freedom along with the
founding of Liberia. These two ex slave

Why Were There Ethnic Tensions In The Soviet Union
Q6. Ethnic tensions became such a severe problem in the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia due to the
fact that it would be a dividing factor in the nation. With the ethnic groups separating from each
other, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia would begin to weaken and crumble. The ethnic tensions
would cause the different ethnic groups to separate from each other, they no longer agreed with
each other. Nationalism would be the major cause of this severe problem, the people had pride in
their ethnic groups. Unfortunately, for big nations such as the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, they
were filled with multiple ethnic groups who all wanted to be their own separate state. More
specifically, this would prove to be extremely difficult for Yugoslavia to deal with due to the fact
that their were at least six different republic located within Yugoslavia itself, this would create major

Cherokee Indian History Research Paper
In the year of 1827 the Cherokee Indians declared themselves a nation by drafting a constitution.
The discovery of gold was made just after the creation and passage of the original Cherokee
Constitution ( A Brief History of the Trail of Tears 1 ). Aware that the native Indian land was in
danger of being encroached upon by new settlers, the Indians went to the government to create an
arrangement to protect their lands. The Cherokees signed treaties ceding portions of their land to
the United States(Bjornlund 8). From the year of 1780 to the year of 1820 the Cherokeepeople

The government had made multiple attempts to enforce treaties, but the white settlers would not

government set aside land in the western region. It was only made worse when, In 1829 gold
was found on Cherokee land in the northwestern part of Georgia, near what is today Dahlonega.
Rumors of gold spread quickly, and white settlers rushed into Cherokee lands to make their
claims (Bjornlund 38). It had been strongly encouraged for the Cherokees to move to the west
since 1810, but with the spur of the gold rush in 1829, the Indian Removal Act was passed in
1830. Georgia was the main state for gold, and they were also one of the most aggressive in
removing the Indians from their state (Bjornlund 38). In 1828 the government took away all of
the rights for the Cherokee people, because they had no rights they could not keep their lands
because they could not testify in court to defend themselves or their claims. Recognizing that they
would get no help from the states, John Ross and a group of Cherokee representatives traveled to

that the United States Government honor the past treaties to enforce Cherokee land boundaries.

(48 Larson) Good Literature is what it sounds like it s good but nothing amazing. It is for
example, the Hunger Games, where it is a fun and exciting read, but doesn t spark a change or

what makes the human mind tick. Good literature might be nice for a quick and easy read on the
beach, but Great literature or nonfiction will change one s view point and requires detail and
focus to extract its full meaning. Our group established 5 criterions to state what makes great
literature. Our first criterion was A great book must contain a message that applies to not only
those who have experienced situations in the book, but provide perspective to those who have
not. A message that can be understood by numerous groups of people is vital to a great piece of
literature. Our second criterion is that in order to teach a lesson it must expose a fault in human
nature or in society. Our society is just as flawed as humanity is. Acknowledging these flaws is the
first step in overcoming the trials of society and man. Our third criterion is centered around the
craftsmanship of the literary work. This can apply to a groundbreaking new approach to narration.

criterion tries to move past just the message itself, and to focus on

paper you will get to know what the Doppler Effect is and how it affects the sound of a racecar.
The meaning of the Doppler Effect is the effect of sound waves in relation to the relative motion
between a sound source and a listener. In order to know the meaning of the Doppler Effect, you
will have to know what pitch means. Pitch is how high or low a sound is heard. Also, the pitch of
a sound is related to the how fast or slow the frequency of the sound wave is. After understanding

Apush Essay -- in What Ways and to What Extent Was...
In the early 1800s, America changed in a lot of ways in a short amount of time. The change that
occurred was, for the most part, the result of the industrial development. The industrial
advancements in the early 1800s had a huge amount of consequences, both positive and negative.
But the industrial development from 1800 to 1860 affected the North and the South in hugely
different ways. The prominent differences eventually caused an amazing amount of tension
between the two regions as they moved in completely separate directions. Mainly, the North and the
South differentiated when it came to cultures, economies, and political views. With the dawn of the
19th century, there were three revolutions that completely altered the United States.... Show more

Though the majority of Southerners didn t own slaves, slaves were used in the South to keep the
revenue up, and slavery was very much a part of the agricultural lifestyle. Political tension between
the North and the South started early when there was disagreement over Henry Clay s American
System. The American System imposed tariffs to support northern manufacturing, federally funded
roads and canals, and supported the National Bank. Northerners were in support of the American
System but the South wasn t on board with the plan. This protective tariff was a tax on imports, and
since the South was receiving most of the imported goods, they got the brunt of the tariff. The
South believed it was unfair that it was putting money into the North s industrial economy when the
South was barely making enough revenue to support itself. While the South provided the Northern
industries with most of the raw materials they needed, the price the North paid for these things were
nothing compared to what the South had to pay for the manufactured goods the North produced.
The opposition to the American System was so strong that South Carolina declared the tariffs void
and threatened to leave the Union. But Andrew Jackson worked with South Carolina and the Union
remained whole. This was the Nullification Crisis of 1832. The two regions clashed politically too.
While the North became generally

Compensated Emancipation
I disagree with R Palmer that abolition of slavery could be end by compensation because Abraham
Lincoln proves it in 1861. Lincoln proposed a program of compensated emancipation, where owner
are rewarded... in Delaware. Even though it was successful in Delaware, compensated emancipation
was not a feasible plan for other Southern states such as Missouri and Kentucky. In 1863 state
legislation towards compensated emancipation in Maryland failed to pass, as did an attempt to
include it in a newly written Missouri constitution (Wikipedia) Both Lincoln and R Palmer taught
that compensated emancipation is the method off ending slaverybut sadly it was not; it may be the
cheapest way to end slavery as it is not causing any death and destruction such

Virtue Ethics
Introduction
Virtue ethics is a theory used to make moral decisions. It does not rely on religion, society or
culture; it only depends on the individuals themselves. The main philosopher of Virtue Ethics is
Aristotle. His theory was originally introduced in ancient Greek times. Aristotle was a great believer
in virtues and the meaning of virtue to him meant being able to fulfil one s functions. Virtue ethics
is not so much interested in the question What should I do? but rather in the question what sort of
person should I become? It has more to do with character and the nature of what it is to be human,
than with the rights and wrongs of actions. Instead of concentrating on what is the right thing to do,
virtue ethics asks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aristotle says we are most likely to acquire virtues by observing others in our society. If we
experience other people being kind to us and see the happiness it creates we are more likely to
practice this virtue then if we were just told to practice it. Aristotle said that the best way of
becoming virtuous was to follow in the footsteps of a virtuous person, e.g. Mother Theresa.
Aristotle said that a virtue was a Golden Mean in between two vices.
These Vices are two extremes of the scale; one vice of excess and one vice of deficiency. For
example, for the virtue modesty , the vice of excess would be bashfulness and the vice of
deficiency would be shamelessness. Aristotle mentions 12 virtues that all fall between two vices.
Some examples of these virtues are honesty, courage, compassion, generosity, fidelity, integrity,
fairness, self control, and prudence. Such virtues must be refined; we must learn when to use
certain virtues and make sure that they do not fall into the vices; in other words we must use them
in moderation. For example we must not ever use modesty in excess as we will become bashful,
but at the same time we must also not pass into the vice of deficiency shamelessness.
Virtue Ethics is dependent; Aristotle realised that virtues in one country or society may not be the
same as virtues in another. As virtues have

The Pros And Cons Of Racism
According to a teacher at Louisiana s top public high school, the n word is no longer racist and has
utterly lost its negative connotation due to overuse. His students (and millions of Americans)
seriously beg to differ.
According to the Times Picayune, the Benjamin Franklin High School teacher identified in the
video as Coach Ryan got into a heated exchange with one of his black students about why he is
entitled, as a white man, to use the racial slur. A video of the argument was originally posted on
Twitter but has since been protected.
That s racist as sh*t, the student tells Coach Ryan. Why can you not understand that it s racist for a
white man to say n****r to a black man? It s f***ing racist.
Raw Story reported that the student asks a white classmate if he would ever use the n word and the
classmate affirms that he wouldn t, after which the student opens the question to the entire class.
They agree that they would not say the n word. Coach Ryan then proceeds to dig himself into a
deeper hole while giving his students a disappointing lesson in white denial.
It s a word that s used so many times that it doesn t mean its original meaning, he insists. The word
has been commoditized so that anyone can use it, and it s not a negative connotation.
Not about to indulge an outright falsehood, the student tells Coach Ryan that the word would
absolutely have negative connotations if he used it it would be racist. Then, perhaps sadly
inevitably, the teacher

How Can Astrology And Horoscope Predictions Are Supposed...
Scientists examine how the world works by making observations, taking measurements, and testing
whether their ideas are supported by evidence. We pay attention to what is happening around us and
try to understand it. When we think we understand how two things relate to each other, we design
an experiment. In this paper, I m going to talk about whether astrologyand horoscope predictions
are supposed to be accurate. There are a number of people in our society who put some faith in
astrology. Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a
means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events, and horoscope is based
on the Ptolemaic system that the earth is stationary, and moves around the sun in fixed patterns.
Astrology divides the sky into twelve sections, with the different sign of the zodiac based on the
mythological characteristics of the heavenly bodies (Aries, Leo, Aquarius, Cancer, Taurus, Virgo,
Libra, Pisces, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Gemini, and Scorpio). Some astrologers believe that time of
birth, especially the hours and minutes, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A common claim is that horoscopic astrology make the pre assumption that our mind is connected
to the universe and read important characteristics about a person. Therefore, astrologists believe
that a person s behavior, emotions, and fate were heavily influenced by the month of that person s
birth. Most people reads a prediction that something interesting would happen, they will looking
forward for that to happen, somehow they have a convenience then that event is on the way. By
this cased, they might think that the predicted of astrology was true. This may be a little harsh
because horoscopes might be of some value if they were usually right or pretty close even they are
not quite perfect, but you probably even know someone who has told you about how perfect their
horoscope matched what happened to them

Mung Beans
Abstract
The Seeds of Mung bean, wheat, and silver beet were tested in environments of differing salinities
to note down if high salinity environments were worse for the seeds. It was found that generally
lower concentrations were better for germination then higher concentrations. Despite this, the
hypothesis was not completely supported as in wheat and silver beet the second concentration had a
higher rate of germination than the control and in all instances the highest concentration had a
higher germination rate than the second highest concentration.
Introduction
Salinity refers to salt dissolved in a substance such as water or soil. Different plants have differing
levels of salt tolerance, due to certain adoptions to specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Because less water is taken up, more water remains, and when the water evaporates from the
soil, salt which has been low below ground for millions of years is brought to the surface,
surrounding these new plants and depriving them of further water (DENR SA, 2010). This
process can be made worse by the irrigation of crops, which result in more water soaking into the
soil and thus more water to evaporate and carry salt to the soil s surface (DENR SA, 2010).
An example of a plant adapted to high salinity environments is the mangrove. The mangrove is a
halophilous plant, meaning that it is a plant that grows in saline soils and waters (Conservancy
Association, 2010). This gives it an advantage as not many plants can live in these conditions. The
mangrove handles these high salinity conditions in a number of methods. The first method is
through salt exclusion, which is the process the mangrove uses to prevent salt from entering its
roots and therefore stopping it being transported to the plant cells (Conservancy Association, 2010).
Despite this, some salt still gets through to the cells, and there are more methods to deal with it.
With mangroves such as the Black Mangrove, salt can be excreted through its tissues, through
specific salt glands (Conservancy Association, 2010). Another method is the storage of this salt on
the leaves of the plant, in the form of crystals. These leaves then drop to the ground, taking this salt
with them (Conservancy

cried foul, claiming that Yelp was extorting them for advertising.
Regardless of whether the allegations are true or not, a review company can t survive without
generating revenue. Yelp faces a hospitality landscape where destinations can directly market to
local audiences on smartphones, engage their customers through social media and get real time
referrals for local searches at lightning speeds.
Local searches no longer depend as much on review sites because people can get information on
Google, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Instagram. Google and Facebook command local
searches with intuitive apps and Google Maps. Yelp apparently squandered its advantage in
hospitality marketing and doesn t even rank in the top five local search companies.
Increasingly Sluggish Growth

LivingSocial, TravelClick and GrubHub, Yelp has suffered double digit drops in its stock values
over the last few quarters due to sluggish growth, competitors actions and lower SEO rankings
generated by Google s evolving search algorithms. Despite drops in growth from 30 percent to 8

contributes nearly 40% to the world so this says that the changes in any of the economy will
have a greater impact on the global economy. Currently the best way to calculate the growth of
economy is using PPP model (purchasing power of Parity). China PPP is 12608.87 US$ while
US is having PPP is 52117.76 US$ which is major gap and this shows though china is having
more GDP number but it s not as strong as the US economy and that is a positive indication for
the US. Currently China is over capitalized and facing a bad debt issue which made them the
slow growth and this is the one the reason of slow chines growth. Currently china is more
dependent on the exports and so many parts of the world are facing recession so that the overall
Chinese growth will decline. Australia is more dependent on export to china which will also
having a trouble in terms of decline in chines economy. Ethics indicator in China and America

American Aircraft Soviet Union Equipment
Introduction While escorting three B 52s on April 2, 1972 United States Air Force EB 66
navigator Lt. Col. Iceal Gene Hambleton (call sign Bat 21) and crew were shot down by a volley
of surface to air missiles (SAM). By this time in the war, the North Vietnamese had become
proficient at downing American aircraft using Soviet Union equipment. As the only survivor of the
EB 66 crew, Hambleton parachuted to relative safety behind North Vietnamese lines. Due to his
rank and prior held positions, Hambleton had Top Secret information on Strategic Air Command
operations and was an expert in surface to air missile countermeasures. Having this information
made Hambleton a high value target for the North Vietnamese. Due to the large scale American
operation to retrieve just one pilot, the North Vietnamese suspected whatever was in the jungle
behind their lines must be of high value and tried just as hard to prevent the American s from
retrieving what was theirs. Hambleton s rescue became what would be the largest, longest, and
most complex search and rescue operation during the VietnamWar. 1

Qualitative Evidence In Nursing Practice
Evidence is the collection of information and facts that are used to prove or disprove, test the
validity and the truthfulness of theories or beliefs about a certain topic. Evidence is used in
everyday situations and is used by everyone and can be categorised in two types of data;
qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data is the use of worded descriptors such as feelings,
emotions and beliefs; unlike quantitative data which is the use of numerical and empirical based
research and data and is less easily falsifiable. Quantitative data is recorded through specific
methodologies that allow for data to be repeated and measured more accurately than that of
quantitative date, for example; the use of bar charts allows for a clear understanding of the data
being presented, as it uses numerical values which meanings can be understood by all. In
comparison, qualitative data, or the recording of feelings or emotions, can be easily interpreted by
one person but not so easily by another. Consequently, findings and recordings may become less
synonymous to each other and therefore, the outcomes of specific studies may be
miscomprehended and the accuracy of the recordings subsequently compromised. Because nursing
is a practice profession, it is important that clinical practice be based on scientific knowledge ...

Compare And Contrast Orthodox Judaism And Reformism
(Slide 1)Good afternoon staff and students, this presentation will compare and contrast Orthodox
Judaism and Reformism.
(Slide 2) Orthodox Judaism and reformism can only be compared by first understanding Judaism
as a whole. So what is Judaism? Judaism is monotheistic religion that originated over eight
hundred year ago in the Middle East, with Moses receiving the law of God in the form of the Torah.
Although this is the case the first covenant between Abraham and God did not occur for another
six hundred years. The first covenant contains the promise that God made to Abraham promising
the he would become the father of a great people this is a reference to the Jewish people. He
would only grant Abraham this prestigious position only if he and his descendants would obey
God. Soon after this a second covenant was made between the Jewish people and God. God
promised to protect them and give them the land of Israel but once again only if they obeyed him.

Florentino Symptoms Of Cholera Essay
1.How are the symptoms of love equated in the novel with the symptoms of cholera? What literal
and metaphoric functions does the cholera plague serve in this novel? How does it change the
characters attitudes toward life? What light does it shed on Latin American society in the
nineteenth century?
a.Throughout the novel, the symptoms of love and cholera are seen as being one and the same,
especially in Florentino s case. At the beginning of he and Fermina s early romance, Florentino s
mother mistakes his love sickness with the warning signs of cholera. Florentino s carriage driver
also comments that his condition after the first time he visited Fermina in her home looked as if he
had been infected with the deadly virus.
b.The cholera plague represents the real life spread of cholera that was prevalent in Latin
America during the time period in which this novel is based. Metaphorically, it is a symbol of
both love and death. As I mentioned before, its symptoms are frequently confused with those of
love sickness. It is also the cause of death for at least one character named in the novel, Dr. Urbino
s father, as well as the tens of millions of people it killed world wide.
c.Florentino is constantly plagued by cholera and suffers throughout his life as a result. Fermina is
the only cure for his illness and, though he tries to replace her with other girls, he finds that they
give him only temporary relief. Florentino spends over fifty years waiting for his

individual is the strongest but it cannot leave descendants, his fitness will be 0.

The Political And Political Characters Of Israel In The...
God, when are you going to get us out of here? This was the cry of the Israelites when they were
in captivity. Before the book of Ezra, Israel was disobedient to God. As a result, God punishes
them by putting them under the captivity of another nation. During the captivity of the Israelites,
God was orchestrating a plan of restoring for His people and this plan a student can find His plan
is in the book of Ezra. When studying the book of Ezra, God s faithfulness floods over the book!
Students need to identify the political and spiritual background of Israel and key characters to
understand the book of Ezra.
The political background of Israel in the pre exilic era was disastrous. In Israel, there was not a
king who followed God s law, but in Judea there were some kings like Hezekiah and Josiah who
followed God (2 Kings 18:3, 2 Kings 22:2). Thus, when kings do not obey God, they tend to have
a temporal perspective on their ruling. This temporal perspective lends to a lack of prudence.
For a nation to run effectively, the king needs to make sure the national defense is secure and
the nation s attitude is healthy. However, the kings of Israel did not take care of their nation.
King Hosea is an example of a king who did not take care of his country (2 Kings 17:1 6). King
Hosea reigned for nine years in Israel, which was the twelfth year of Ahaz in Judea (2 Kings 17:1
2). During king Hosea s reign, he become allies with the Assyrian empire, but he did not follow
through with his tributes (2 Kings 17:3 4). Thus, the actions of king Hosea caused the kingdom of
Israel to fall to the Assyrians (2 Kings 17:5 6).
The spiritual background of Israel in pre exilic era, like the political, was not good. Through the
leadership of the bad kings and the influences of other nations, Israel did not have a pure
relationship with God. Some of the things that Israel did were worshipping other gods, like Baal
and Asherah, and creating altars for other gods (2 Kings 17:7). Therefore, God sent prophets like
Jeremiah and Isaiah to warn the Israelites of their disobedience. However, the warnings from the
prophets did not work because the Israelites hearts were hard to the warnings of God (2 Kings
17:18 20). As a result, God sent

William Domhoff s Who Rules America Essay
Reading G. William Domhoff s Who Rules America?: The Triumph of the Corporate Rich was
an intriguing and challenging experience for me. My limited knowledge base of the American
political class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my
mom s stories of her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my
prior lack of knowledge on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some
of his finer points. Part of my struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended
audience for Who Rules America? is other experts in the field of understanding the sociology of the
corporate eliteand their resources of power. However, I believe that the book has given me a better,
if not complete, understanding of the corporate elite and how they stay in power.
I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point, he uses several
sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when relating the dominance of the
political elite on the government, Domhoff examines the amount of influence the corporate rich
have in our judicial system by investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama
administration. He discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions:
Harvard, Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a
similar fashion; he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the

The science fiction short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut presented views that are
controversial in a satire form. The story had four characters, George Bergeron, Hazel Bergeron,
Harrison Bergeron, Diana Moon Glampers, And The Ballerina. George and Hazel where
Harrisons parents. Diana was the general of the government that took Harrison away from his
parents on April, 2081. George, Harrison s father was a very intelligent person and due to that he
had to wear a device on his ear that disrupted his thought process. His mom Hazel on the other had
an average intelligence and could only think of things for a short period of time before forgetting.
She had no handicaps on her because of that. Harrison was seen as too handsome, strong... Show

Everyone that s born with good looks, or intelligence are automatically but to a disadvantage
with someone born with a mental disability or without the best features because the society in
the story doesn t promote being above average. The government doesn t let you live with what
you are born with and that s not fair because you can t control what traits and abilities you ll be
given in life. This is shown when Vonnegut describes characters reasons for their handicaps.
Inequality is shown when Diana comes into the studio with a double barreled ten gauge shotgun
(Vonnegut 221). How come she doesn t have any handicaps and is an unfair opponent in a
society that supposed to be equal? The society the handicap government has created in Harrison
Bergeron ruins itself through all the things the civilians aren t able to do that doesn t promote
equality in every way shape or form. By giving people handicaps because of how they look,
strong, athletic, and intelligent they are creating no equal rights. This is where Harrison steps up to
take down the government by trying to stand up and persuade the people. There is no freedom. No
one can fully function because of limitations caused by the

What Is The Purpose Of The Book Of Acts
The book of Acts begins as Jesus ascended into Heaven. The Holy Spirit has manifested into the
hearts of the Twelve Apostles, therefore the word of God infinitely spread, and the number of
disciples had grown immensely in Jerusalem. More and more believed in Jesus. As the church
had grown problems had occurred between the Hellenistic Jews and the native Hebrews, Peter
the leader of The Twelve was confronted with a challenging situation. The Hellenistic Jews who
spoke Greek had tension with the Hebraic Jews who spoke Hebrew because they felt as if their
widows were neglected. During this time, the women did not have an education nor had to work
their husbands were the sole providers. Therefore, if their husbands had passed on they will not
have any source of living income or supplemental support. The needs of the Hellenistic Jews were

Development And History Of Australian English
Introduction: Development and History of Australian English The growth and domination the
English Language has seen globally is not only unprecedented, but comes as no surprise; The
spread of the English language and its culture over the world is a major event in human history
(Algeo, 2005, pp.6). As the Lingua Franca of the developing world and a third of the world s
population speaking English (Crystal, 2006), its importance, appeal and prestige cannot be
undermined. Maybe it is because of its richness and variety (Gooden, 2001), inherited and adopted
after colonialism (Algeo, 2005) or simple, a tool for international development (Erlin and
Seargeant, 2013). Nonetheless, the spread of English has led to many diverse varieties and... Show

It is likely that AusE was formed in the speech of those born between 1790 and 1840 (Kachru et
al., 2009, p.296) As the diagram (Jupp, 2001, pp.796) illustrates, discounting Australia, the most
popular birthplace recorded is London and South east. It is also evident from the nature of
Australian speech today. However, Crystal disagrees with Trudgill and table, stating that Many of
the convicts came from London and Ireland (especially following the 1798 Irish rebellion), and
features of the Cockney accent of London and the brogue of the Irish English can be traced in the
speech in the speech patterns heard in Australia today (Crystal, 2003, pp.41) Evidence of origin
(First wave): In terms of borrowings, many eighteenth/nineteenth Century expressions can be linked
to regional dialects, for example: Fossick to rummage ( Cornwall); Stone the crows expression of
surprise ( London Cockney); Cobber mate ( Suffolk). (Burridge 2010) Likewise, in terms of
phonology, AusE has very distinctive features phonemically, particularly the production of vowels

Software Engineering And Inventions Of The 20th Century
Assignment Week One 1. As software becomes more pervasive, risks to the public become an
increasingly significant concern. In your own words, develop a realistic scenario where the
failure of a software could do great harm to humans (economically or otherwise). Software
Engineering and Computers are the most important and strange inventions of the 20th century.
These two things have solved many of our biggest problems and made our life very easy and
given us huge power to control the world. But, like everything these can also have some negative
effects. We have built huge machines and powerful instruments to help humanity but we have
also put our lives at greater risk. For example, computers help us to diagnose diseases in seconds,
but on the other hand they are responsible for producing new diseases through new viruses,
dangerous chemicals and new military devices. One such scenario could be as follows: NASA
spent a huge amount of money to send a rocket into space over an eight year time frame. This
project was designed to send a scientist to space for research. After eight years of work and $52
Billion the rocket was ready to launch and three important astronauts were on board. The
astronauts were prepared for a range of experiments to investigate life in space and the production
of gases in various locations. Countdown begins. Finally the rocket left the earth and everyone at
the Control Centre breathed a sigh of relief and cheered the opening stage of the

The Refugee Crisis And The Arab Spring
The Refugee Crisis
Nothing ever stays in the place it stars; everything has a habit of spreading. Throughout history,
problems rarely ended in the places they started. Like the plague, Ebola, WWI/II, communism,
the Arab spring, and now the Syrian crisis. The Arab Spring was a series of anti government
protests, uprisings, and armed rebellions that spread across the Middle East in early 2011. The
Arab spring protest against al Assad s Syrian government in the spring of 2011 evolved into an
armed conflict between oppositions and government forces in certain cities and then evolved into
a civil war. The Syrian civil war caused the large scale diaspora of Syrian citizens, leading to the
Syrian refugee crisis. The Syrian refugee crisis led to psychological and physical problems for the
refugees and various problems in neighboring host countries, but solutions have been effective so
far.
The refugee crisis led to physical problems like inadequate accommodation, lack of necessities, and
comfort. In addition, Psychological problems, due to trauma that has been suffered and continuing
problems with day to day living. According to the United Nations, approximately 2 million Syrian
refugees are seeking asylum in the neighboring countries of Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon and half of
those refugees are children Thousands of these children were displaced in refugee camps; some of
them without their parents to comfort them from the horrors of war (a1). According to Dr. Rona,

Bikini Bottom Marxist Theory
Marx s Bikini Bottom When a child is watching the television show SpongeBob SquarePants, it is
often viewed as an innocent, comical, cartoon about a Sponge and his day to day activities. But
later in life, after learning about Marx s Theory, one can explain the correlation between the two
polar opposites. Marx s Theory is the political and economic philosophy of Karl Marxand Friedrich
Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society s
allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and
ultimately classless society ( Marxism). The entire town of Bikini Bottom is exactly how a Marxist
City would be set up, with each level of the social structure demonstrated with different characters in
different classes; poor, middle, and upper.
The lowest class in the today s social structure would be considered the poor, which is often
viewed as lazy, education lacking people who are not willing work in order to move up through the
social structure. Patrick, one of the main characters in SpongeBob SquarePants, presents these
views to be true while he is participating in his role in Bikini Bottom. He has no source of income,
does not attend school, has little belongings and lives under a rock. In episode 13 of season 9 he
refers to his unemployment as funemployment when he tries to convince SpongeBob that he does
not need to work (Hillenburg). Another character displayed is Plankton. He is also

The Marriage of Figaro During the first eighteen centuries AD the freedom of speech was under
brutal attack. Everywhere, in the world there was political instability. Different part of the world

Cause And Effects Of The Columbian Exchange
The Columbian Exchange began after the voyage of Christopher Columbus to the Western
Hemisphere across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492. The Columbian exchange is the exchange of
people, animal, plants, and diseases between the Old World and New world. Many of those things
went to the Old World which was Europe conversely many things came to the New World, the
Americas, as well. Although both worlds benefitted from the Columbus Exchange, in reality the
Old world benefitted more. When the European travelers came to America they brought over
may diseases including small pox, influenza, measles, and Scarlett fever. The Native Americans
had never been exposed to these diseases before consequently they did not have antibodies to
fight of these diseases which meant that many people would die from the exposure to the
various diseases. The introduction of these diseases created a high death toll in the Native
American population, killing more than half of the original population. In addition, Europeans
introduced horses and livestock to the environment of the new world. The horses were effective
form of transportation that enabled many Indians to improve their lifestyles. The introduction
of horses to plains Indianas, for example, enabled them to hunt bison with far better results, they
were able to hunt more bison with the use of horses. Horses also enabled them to be more
nomadic, the Indians were able to carry more items far further distances and able to move
around more. The addition of livestock such as cattle in the Americas added to the food supply
of the Americas. The livestock provided more food containing protein and other minerals. The
introduction of horses and livestock mainly benefited the Indians lives. Along with the
introduction of livestock, rice and sugar were also brought to the New World from the Old
world. Rice and sugar created a better food supply similar to the livestock. The sugar and rice
added a variety to the food already in the New world. The introduction of rice in the New World
enabled many farmers to grow it in the New World and transport it back to the Old World, creating
a great profit. Additionally weapons and guns were traded with the Native Americans. The Native
Americans had

The Emerald City Of Oz Analysis
The Good, The Bad, and the Dirty In Frank L. Baum s The Emerald City of OZ, Baum returns
once more to the Land of Oz and its inhabitants. The Emerald City of Oz is one of the later
books, and Baum nods to this when he notes I suppose you have read so much about the
magnificent Emerald City that there is little need for me to describe it here, yet he goes on to
describe it (29). However, in his description of the city and the land of Oz, Baum brings up a
contradiction that crops up throughout the book. The inhabitants of Oz are Peaceful, kind
hearted, loving, [and] merry, with not a single one who was evil, or [...] selfish or violent (31).
However, as the book continues, people of Oz show many of the qualities that aren t supposed
to exist among them, and it is revealed that the whole of the kingdom of Oz came from the very
opposite of traits that its people are supposed to represent and carry. One of the biggest blow to
the assertion of what people of Oz are supposed to be is the origin of the kingdom. The city itself
is a key place to start, as it is described akin to the New Jerusalem (29). It is a place built all of
beautiful marbles in which a profusion of emeralds and other jewels are set, though the outside of
buildings and streets are all of emeralds (29). This is reminiscent of the heavenly city, wherein many
precious gems and stones encrust buildings. The language is also similar, in that they both refence
cleanliness and quality through the words

The Arab American And Socioeconomic Success
Coming from an Arab American household, there has always been an emphasis on higher education
and higher socio economic status. I believe that it is something that can be found in various Arab
American Communities in the United States and these standards set in the household show when
you look at the statistics as to where Arab Americans stand on both educational and socio
economical scales. This paper will look into the history of Arabs in the United States, as well as the
demographics of the Arab community in the U.S, and cultural and physiological backings that may
all have influence on education. My goal for this research paper is to find the reasons behind the
Arab American strive for education and socioeconomic success and whether the Arab culture has a
positive or negative influence on the success of Arab Americans.
Rationale
The importance of cultural recognition has always been a big part of my life. Growing up as an
Arab American in the United States has taught me to be more aware of the numerous diverse
cultures that collectively make up this country. The foundation of communication between these
cultures is simply cultural awareness. When one is aware of the differences of their neighbors it
allows them to be more perceptible to understanding them and those differences. Reaching my
adolescent years I was presented with circumstances where many associated my culture with my
religion, continually I clarified the difference between one s cultural and religion being

Health Care Reform For The United States
Many ways are used to measure how much Americans values life. Obviously, good health is a
major factor of being happy and satisfied with an Americans life. People also place family and
friends very high on the list of value for health care insurance. Health care has become the stress
to every person s life. Health care controls everything a person does due to the drawbacks of not
having it when it is necessary; like breaking an arm or coming down with a deathly illness. With
these issues, it is said that reforms are on their way. Health care reform will be on the agenda for
future sessions of Congress, because the economic pressures of rising health care costs on the
federal government, business, and individuals are not going to abate (King). Health care has
become a pain for many reasons. It takes up time, money, and security. Having health care in the
United Statesis a necessity; without this many hospitals do not admit a patient or, if done so, the
patient becomes flooded with bills for everything. But just because health care is a necessity in the
United States does not mean it comes easily. With so much that goes into health care, loads of
information and research must be gathered; to understand health care and why one must have
information on health care history, information about human rights in regards of health care, what
other forms of health care are out there, price of health care, Americans opinion on American health
care, and many more items that health

Meta-Analysis Sample Synthesis of the Research A solid school vision statement and its accompanying goals should reflect the culture of a school and provide for improvement in the school s instructional program, and professional development to improve student learning (ELCC 2). The meta analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty (2005) discovered the importance of each of these dimensions in relationship to school principals and the successful school environment. Furthermore, principals skill in each of these dimensions has demonstrated a positive correlation to student achievement (Marzano et al.). With regard to culture, the role of the principal has been found to have a direct impact on the culture of the school (Marzano et al., 2005). The principal is ... • 4. Stereotype Threats Stereotype threats, the risks of confirming as self characteristic a negative stereotype about one s group, appear everywhere around the world (Steele, Claude, Aronson, and Spencer). Where there is diversity in any sense of the word, there is a stereotype threat poised to negatively affect its victims. Stereotypethreats and their negative effects have been found in educational institutions, the workforce, negotiation, athletics, and even child care (Stroessner and Good, 3). Stereotype threats have been proven to affect one s performance and ability to complete universal tasks by inducing anxiety in its victims. In a study addressing race gaps in college level standardized test performance, inducing stereotype threat emphasizing intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concept of disidentification is the psychological disengagement from achievement hypothesized to help students cope with stereotype threat and underperformance in a given domain (Aronson, Fried, Good 114). For example, an illiterate person is more likely to claim the ability to read and write has no correlation with intelligence than a literate person. In the same study, African American students were more likely to disassociate academic success with self esteem because of the stereotype threat that they are less likely to be academically successful. This meant, over time, they felt less inclined to perform well in school because it had no effect on their self worth, resulting in poorer test results, poorer grades, and lesser success in collegiate academics. In the same vein, African American students that did not disidentify with academic success correlation with self esteem were more likely to drop out of school, because they could not ignore the increased anxiety spurred by stereotype threat (Aronson, Fried, Good 115). The psychology behind stereotype threats is universal. A stereotype threat imposed on an individual can increase that individual s anxiety about a task, and therefore lower the success his performance. For example, the stereotype threat the women are poorer drivers than men affects their ability to successfully avoid collision. When reminded that women are poor drivers, female drivers were twice as likely to collide with jaywalking pedestrians than women not reminded of this stereotype threat (Yeung and Von Hippel, ... • 5. Comparing The Sefer Ha-Bahir And Revelations Of Divine Love The Jewish text The Sefer ha Bahir as well as the Christian Julian of Norwich s Revelations of Divine Love are both considered to be works of mysticism, although they are entirely different styles of writing, the prior being a rabbinic commentary of the Torah while the latter is in an autobiographical style. Mysticism is generally defined as a direct, personal experience of the divine. This definition lacks a key component of the mysticism found in these two works. The authors are not merely experiencing the divine, either through the Torah or visions, they are gaining knowledge of the divine in the process. This is evident in the titles of the texts as well as within the texts. The Sefer ha Bahir and Revelations of Divine Love do conform... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason why the definition of mysticism should be expanded upon in light of these two texts, even though the original definition is not incorrect, is because it does shroud the significance of the knowledge and understanding gained in these works of mysticism. Mysticism is not simply a spiritual experience or the presence of the divine; the texts demonstrate that knowledge of the divine is deepened through these experiences. It can be seen in this quote from The Bahir that the rabbi are coming to a deeper understanding through reading the Torah: Why does the verse not say, And it was so ? What is this like? A king had a beautiful object. He puts it away until he had a place for it, and then he put it there (haKana 25). The Bahir writes of more than just a divine experience because the rabbi are gaining knowledge of the meaning behind passages of the Torah. Julian also writes not only of journey to God, but a journey that teaches her divine knowledge. On the first page she writes, ...with many fair shewings of endless wisdom and teachings of love... In the short story Hands, by Sherwood Anderson, Anderson gives a perfect example of symbolism. In the story Hands, Anderson uses symbolism of the hands of Wing Biddlebaum to show the meaning of the story. Anderson explores the theme of isolation and loneliness, through the symbolization of Wing s hands. By Anderson writing Hands is showing how the protagonist hands symbolizes the many ways of him feeling isolated and lonely in Ohio. One of the many wonders of the internet is that it is possible to directly access and easily search the major works of David Ricardo and John Maynard Keynes, rather than just reading what later thinkers have read into them. • 10. Five Cinematic Techniques In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window In Rear Window, by Alfred Hitchcock, Jeff, a photographer in New York City, breaks his leg while trying to take a photo at an auto race and gets stuck in his apartment until his leg heals. To pass the time, Jeff spies on his neighbors with his photo lenses. However, while in the process of spying on his neighbors, the Thorwalds, he suspects that a gruesome murder may have taken place in the household. In Rear Window, Hitchcock creates a suspenseful tone by utilizing five cinematic terms: sound effects, zoom shot, reaction shot, symbol, and point of view. In the beginning of Rear Window, while Jeff is spying on his neighbors, he hears the melodious piano keys of a fun loving composer, the sweet nothings of newlyweds, and the bickering of the Thorwalds, a middle aged married couple. Immediately, the audience senses that something is not right with the Thorwalds, when Hitchcock juxtaposes the sweet sound of the neighbors with the Thorwald s constant squabbling. Thus, Hitchcock uses sound effects to make the viewer question the relationship of the Thorwalds, and creates a suspenseful tone with the Thorwald s constant bickering. More and more plants appear, and the other plants get other older. They get chopped, it becomes a big fight. So the theme is about a battle that takes place which some thistles moaned and some are planted. The theme is mainly about violence and about how the thistles are, what they look like. The Daffodils poem has a different theme. The theme is about happiness, joy and good things in life when daffodils are around, how colourful they are their movement and the way that they have affected Wordsworth s life. The form makes the theme and content be different to the form of the Thistles poem. The content of the Daffodils poem is that it is full of words that makes you feel calm and relaxed while you read the poem, as it has nice and sweet things, and the way Wordsworth expresses his feelings for the daffodils is such that it even affects the content, it makes the content better. Each poet has used language to communicate atmosphere, ideas and attitudes in their poems. In each poem there are a few aspects in language which are quite effective. • 12. The Human Relations Movement Of George Elton Mayo Managers throughout history have been interested in studying ways to increase productivity. For example, Frederick Taylor began the movement of scientific management in the 1880 s. Scientific management looked to improve productivity through means of scientific analysis of worker s tasks and work processes rather than the old rule of thumb (Taylor, 1914). Taylor believed that he could maximize worker efficiency and productivity through focusing on workers specific hand motions and patterns. After this period, beginning in about the 1930 s, managers looked to take productivity to yet another level by studying worker physiology and motivation. This new movement came to be known as the human relations movement. George Elton Mayo is credited with founding the human relations movement. Mayo conducted an experiment in the 1920 s and 1930 s know as the Hawthorne study. Two of the main aspects of the study centered around illumination in the work place and varying levels of break time and work hours (WickstrГ¶m, 2000). The illumination study consisted of four different experiments over the course of three years. In each experiement, there was a control group and a study group. In the varying studies, the researchers experimented with varying levels of light and varying sequences of increasing and decreasing the level of light ( Hawthorne effect). Throughout the experiments, researchers would often find patterns of increased productivity, leading them to believe that they had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown especially in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period shows just how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible. Throughout the time period writingand beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing American poet Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include poems such as To My Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 and while Edwards wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. These works differ in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in regards to writing styleand beliefs presented in these works. The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing styles. Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they write, and what they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s composition and rhyme scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme is a very basic A A B B scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were one, then surely we./If ever man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate the simplicity in her writing. Eliot s Hollow Men) T.S Eliot was the most famous English poet of his time, and he was one of the most influential poet. His distinctive style of writing took the attention of not only other poets, but many people all over the world. Thomas Stearns Eliot is best known as a poet and literary critic (he received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1948), but his work in social and cultural theory has also been widely influential (Edwards). Eliot was nothing if not a seeker: seeking to reconcile the culture he saw with what he hoped it to be; seeking to reconcile an inner despair with a parallel want of faith (Dobrinska). In The Hollow Men Eliot describes how people don t put religion above all things important anymore. He explains we shifted to craving liberation not religion. • 16. Pan Africanism For Beginners Essay Sid Lemelle hoped for his book, Pan Africanism for Beginners, to be a comprehensive guide to the complex concept of Pan Africanism. Lemelle begins the book by broadly defining Pan Africanism to mean the inclusion of all people of African ancestry living in continental Africa and throughout the world. This definition sets the foundation for his analysis of Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism for Beginners explores the major leaders and events associated with Pan African sentiments chronologically. The exploration begins with the early pioneers of Pan Africanism (20) such as Prince Hall, Paul Cuffe, Dr. Martin R. Delany, and Fredrick Douglass. While this was an early stage of Pan Africanism, conflicting views on how to deal the issues of racism and oppression. Prince Hall and Paul Cuffe believed in the emigration of blacks to Africa. However, Dr. Delany and Frederick Douglass argued against emigration. Instead, they believed that the United States was their home, and that they should remain (25). Lemelle notes that Dr. Delany later changed his attributes, however it is unclear if he changes his views from support of emigration to opposition to emigration or vice versa. This is not a major weakness; however, it did confuse me as a reader attempting to understand the beginnings of Pan Africanism. One of the initial major Pan African events Lemelle introduced was the creation of Sierra Leone s Province of Freedom along with the founding of Liberia. These two ex slave ... Ethnic tensions became such a severe problem in the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia due to the fact that it would be a dividing factor in the nation. With the ethnic groups separating from each other, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia would begin to weaken and crumble. The ethnic tensions would cause the different ethnic groups to separate from each other, they no longer agreed with each other. Due to the inability to make the settlers and the Indians coexist, the government set aside land in the western region. It was only made worse when, In 1829 gold was found on Cherokee land in the northwestern part of Georgia, near what is today Dahlonega. Rumors of gold spread quickly, and white settlers rushed into Cherokee lands to make their claims (Bjornlund 38). It had been strongly encouraged for the Cherokees to move to the west since 1810, but with the spur of the gold rush in 1829, the Indian Removal Act was passed in 1830. Georgia was the main state for gold, and they were also one of the most aggressive in removing the Indians from their state (Bjornlund 38). In 1828 the government took away all of the rights for the Cherokee people, because they had no rights they could not keep their lands because they could not testify in court to defend themselves or their claims. Recognizing that they would get no help from the states, John Ross and a group of Cherokee representatives traveled to Washington D.C., to ask for help from Congress (Bjornlund 39). (48 Larson) Good Literature is what it sounds like it s good but nothing amazing. It is for example, the Hunger Games, where it is a fun and exciting read, but doesn t spark a change or awakening. This distinction between good and great is vital to the gradual understanding of what makes the human mind tick. Good literature might be nice for a quick and easy read on the beach, but Great literature or nonfiction will change one s view point and requires detail and focus to extract its full meaning. Our group established 5 criterions to state what makes great literature. Our first criterion was A great book must contain a message that applies to not only those who have experienced situations in the book, but provide perspective to those who have not. A message that can be understood by numerous groups of people is vital to a great piece of literature. Our second criterion is that in order to teach a lesson it must expose a fault in human nature or in society. Our society is just as flawed as humanity is. Acknowledging these flaws is the first step in overcoming the trials of society and man. Our third criterion is centered around the craftsmanship of the literary work. This can apply to a groundbreaking new approach to narration. Or even complex characters and a unique and individual style (Faulkner.) In summary, the 3rd criterion tries to move past just the message itself, and to focus on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The change that occurred was, for the most part, the result of the industrial development. The industrial advancements in the early 1800s had a huge amount of consequences, both positive and negative. But the industrial development from 1800 to 1860 affected the North and the South in hugely different ways. The prominent differences eventually caused an amazing amount of tension between the two regions as they moved in completely separate directions. Mainly, the North and the South differentiated when it came to cultures, economies, and political views. Though the majority of Southerners didn t own slaves, slaves were used in the South to keep the revenue up, and slavery was very much a part of the agricultural lifestyle. Political tension between the North and the South started early when there was disagreement over Henry Clay s American System. The American System imposed tariffs to support northern manufacturing, federally funded roads and canals, and supported the National Bank. Northerners were in support of the American System but the South wasn t on board with the plan. This protective tariff was a tax on imports, and since the South was receiving most of the imported goods, they got the brunt of the tariff. The South believed it was unfair that it was putting money into the North s industrial economy when the South was barely making enough revenue to support itself. While the South provided the Northern industries with most of the raw materials they needed, the price the North paid for these things were nothing compared to what the South had to pay for the manufactured goods the North produced. The opposition to the American System was so strong that South Carolina declared the tariffs void and threatened to leave the Union. But Andrew Jackson worked with South Carolina and the Union remained whole. This was the Nullification Crisis of 1832. The two regions clashed politically too. While the North became generally ... • 24. Virtue Ethics Introduction Virtue ethics is a theory used to make moral decisions. It does not rely on religion, society or culture; it only depends on the individuals themselves. The main philosopher of Virtue Ethics is Aristotle. His theory was originally introduced in ancient Greek times. Aristotle was a great believer in virtues and the meaning of virtue to him meant being able to fulfil one s functions. Virtue ethics is not so much interested in the question What should I do? but rather in the question what sort of person should I become? It has more to do with character and the nature of what it is to be human, than with the rights and wrongs of actions. Instead of concentrating on what is the right thing to do, virtue ethics asks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aristotle says we are most likely to acquire virtues by observing others in our society. If we experience other people being kind to us and see the happiness it creates we are more likely to practice this virtue then if we were just told to practice it. Aristotle said that the best way of becoming virtuous was to follow in the footsteps of a virtuous person, e.g. Mother Theresa. Aristotle said that a virtue was a Golden Mean in between two vices. These Vices are two extremes of the scale; one vice of excess and one vice of deficiency. For example, for the virtue modesty , the vice of excess would be bashfulness and the vice of deficiency would be shamelessness. Aristotle mentions 12 virtues that all fall between two vices. Some examples of these virtues are honesty, courage, compassion, generosity, fidelity, integrity, fairness, self control, and prudence. Such virtues must be refined; we must learn when to use certain virtues and make sure that they do not fall into the vices; in other words we must use them in moderation. For example we must not ever use modesty in excess as we will become bashful, but at the same time we must also not pass into the vice of deficiency shamelessness. According to the Times Picayune, the Benjamin Franklin High School teacher identified in the video as Coach Ryan got into a heated exchange with one of his black students about why he is entitled, as a white man, to use the racial slur. A video of the argument was originally posted on Twitter but has since been protected. That s racist as sh*t, the student tells Coach Ryan. Scientists examine how the world works by making observations, taking measurements, and testing whether their ideas are supported by evidence. We pay attention to what is happening around us and try to understand it. When we think we understand how two things relate to each other, we design an experiment. In this paper, I m going to talk about whether astrologyand horoscope predictions are supposed to be accurate. There are a number of people in our society who put some faith in astrology. Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events, and horoscope is based on the Ptolemaic system that the earth is stationary, and moves around the sun in fixed patterns. Astrology divides the sky into twelve sections, with the different sign of the zodiac based on the mythological characteristics of the heavenly bodies (Aries, Leo, Aquarius, Cancer, Taurus, Virgo, Libra, Pisces, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Gemini, and Scorpio). It was found that generally lower concentrations were better for germination then higher concentrations. Despite this, the hypothesis was not completely supported as in wheat and silver beet the second concentration had a higher rate of germination than the control and in all instances the highest concentration had a higher germination rate than the second highest concentration. Introduction Salinity refers to salt dissolved in a substance such as water or soil. Different plants have differing levels of salt tolerance, due to certain adoptions to specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because less water is taken up, more water remains, and when the water evaporates from the soil, salt which has been low below ground for millions of years is brought to the surface, surrounding these new plants and depriving them of further water (DENR SA, 2010). This process can be made worse by the irrigation of crops, which result in more water soaking into the soil and thus more water to evaporate and carry salt to the soil s surface (DENR SA, 2010). An example of a plant adapted to high salinity environments is the mangrove. The mangrove is a halophilous plant, meaning that it is a plant that grows in saline soils and waters (Conservancy Association, 2010). This gives it an advantage as not many plants can live in these conditions. The mangrove handles these high salinity conditions in a number of methods. The first method is through salt exclusion, which is the process the mangrove uses to prevent salt from entering its roots and therefore stopping it being transported to the plant cells (Conservancy Association, 2010). Despite this, some salt still gets through to the cells, and there are more methods to deal with it. With mangroves such as the Black Mangrove, salt can be excreted through its tissues, through specific salt glands (Conservancy Association, 2010). Another method is the storage of this salt on the leaves of the plant, in the form of crystals. These leaves then drop to the ground, taking this salt with them (Conservancy ... Although this is the case the first covenant between Abraham and God did not occur for another six hundred years. The first covenant contains the promise that God made to Abraham promising the he would become the father of a great people this is a reference to the Jewish people. What literal and metaphoric functions does the cholera plague serve in this novel? How does it change the characters attitudes toward life? What light does it shed on Latin American society in the nineteenth century? a.Throughout the novel, the symptoms of love and cholera are seen as being one and the same, especially in Florentino s case. At the beginning of he and Fermina s early romance, Florentino s mother mistakes his love sickness with the warning signs of cholera. Florentino s carriage driver also comments that his condition after the first time he visited Fermina in her home looked as if he had been infected with the deadly virus. b.The cholera plague represents the real life spread of cholera that was prevalent in Latin America during the time period in which this novel is based. • 39. The Political And Political Characters Of Israel In The... God, when are you going to get us out of here? This was the cry of the Israelites when they were in captivity. Before the book of Ezra, Israel was disobedient to God. As a result, God punishes them by putting them under the captivity of another nation. During the captivity of the Israelites, God was orchestrating a plan of restoring for His people and this plan a student can find His plan is in the book of Ezra. When studying the book of Ezra, God s faithfulness floods over the book! Students need to identify the political and spiritual background of Israel and key characters to understand the book of Ezra. The political background of Israel in the pre exilic era was disastrous. In Israel, there was not a king who followed God s law, but in Judea there were some kings like Hezekiah and Josiah who followed God (2 Kings 18:3, 2 Kings 22:2). Thus, when kings do not obey God, they tend to have a temporal perspective on their ruling. This temporal perspective lends to a lack of prudence. For a nation to run effectively, the king needs to make sure the national defense is secure and the nation s attitude is healthy. However, the kings of Israel did not take care of their nation. King Hosea is an example of a king who did not take care of his country (2 Kings 17:1 6). King Hosea reigned for nine years in Israel, which was the twelfth year of Ahaz in Judea (2 Kings 17:1 2). During king Hosea s reign, he become allies with the Assyrian empire, but he did not follow through with his tributes (2 Kings 17:3 4). Thus, the actions of king Hosea caused the kingdom of Israel to fall to the Assyrians (2 Kings 17:5 6). The spiritual background of Israel in pre exilic era, like the political, was not good. Through the leadership of the bad kings and the influences of other nations, Israel did not have a pure relationship with God. Some of the things that Israel did were worshipping other gods, like Baal and Asherah, and creating altars for other gods (2 Kings 17:7). • 41. William Domhoff s Who Rules America Essay Reading G. William Domhoff s Who Rules America?: The Triumph of the Corporate Rich was an intriguing and challenging experience for me. My limited knowledge base of the American political class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer points. Part of my struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended audience for Who Rules America? is other experts in the field of understanding the sociology of the corporate eliteand their resources of power. However, I believe that the book has given me a better, if not complete, understanding of the corporate elite and how they stay in power. I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point, he uses several sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when relating the dominance of the political elite on the government, Domhoff examines the amount of influence the corporate rich have in our judicial system by investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama administration. He discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions: Harvard, Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a similar fashion; he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In your own words, develop a realistic scenario where the failure of a software could do great harm to humans (economically or otherwise). Software Engineering and Computers are the most important and strange inventions of the 20th century. These two things have solved many of our biggest problems and made our life very easy and given us huge power to control the world. But, like everything these can also have some negative effects. We have built huge machines and powerful instruments to help humanity but we have also put our lives at greater risk. For example, computers help us to diagnose diseases in seconds, but on the other hand they are responsible for producing new diseases through new viruses, dangerous chemicals and new military devices. One such scenario could be as follows: NASA spent a huge amount of money to send a rocket into space over an eight year time frame. This project was designed to send a scientist to space for research. After eight years of work and $52 Billion the rocket was ready to launch and three important astronauts were on board. • 49. Bikini Bottom Marxist Theory Marx s Bikini Bottom When a child is watching the television show SpongeBob SquarePants, it is often viewed as an innocent, comical, cartoon about a Sponge and his day to day activities. But later in life, after learning about Marx s Theory, one can explain the correlation between the two polar opposites. Marx s Theory is the political and economic philosophy of Karl Marxand Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society s allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society ( Marxism). The entire town of Bikini Bottom is exactly how a Marxist City would be set up, with each level of the social structure demonstrated with different characters in different classes; poor, middle, and upper. The lowest class in the today s social structure would be considered the poor, which is often viewed as lazy, education lacking people who are not willing work in order to move up through the social structure. Patrick, one of the main characters in SpongeBob SquarePants, presents these views to be true while he is participating in his role in Bikini Bottom. The Columbian exchange is the exchange of people, animal, plants, and diseases between the Old World and New world. Many of those things went to the Old World which was Europe conversely many things came to the New World, the Americas, as well. Although both worlds benefitted from the Columbus Exchange, in reality the Old world benefitted more. When the European travelers came to America they brought over may diseases including small pox, influenza, measles, and Scarlett fever. The Native Americans had never been exposed to these diseases before consequently they did not have antibodies to fight of these diseases which meant that many people would die from the exposure to the various diseases. The introduction of these diseases created a high death toll in the Native American population, killing more than half of the original population. However, in his description of the city and the land of Oz, Baum brings up a contradiction that crops up throughout the book. The inhabitants of Oz are Peaceful, kind hearted, loving, [and] merry, with not a single one who was evil, or [...] selfish or violent (31). However, as the book continues, people of Oz show many of the qualities that aren t supposed to exist among them, and it is revealed that the whole of the kingdom of Oz came from the very opposite of traits that its people are supposed to represent and carry. One of the biggest blow to the assertion of what people of Oz are supposed to be is the origin of the kingdom. The city itself is a key place to start, as it is described akin to the New Jerusalem (29). It is a place built all of beautiful marbles in which a profusion of emeralds and other jewels are set, though the outside of buildings and streets are all of emeralds (29).
