Understand The Jobs And The Organization
Understand the jobs and the organization Like most functions in human resources you want to begin
with a clear understanding of the strategic plan of the organization. This foundation provides the basis
of what the organization wants to achieve and thus should illustrate what end result the job should
contribute to. If a job does not contribute directly or indirectly to the advancement of the organization
s goals it would be wise to consider if it is still needed. Perhaps it is, but if not, then continuing to
allocate resources to it just doesn t make sense. It is also necessary to understand the nature of the
work environment. For instance if a job is being analyzed in a unionize shop then there may be
required stipulations within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prioritizing an analysis based on which jobs play a key role in achieving the goals of the organization
is one example of how to determine which jobs get analyzed first. There could be other reasons
however for why an analysis is taking place. Perhaps the working environment or technology has
changed. Or perhaps increasing diversity is a driver for performing an analysis to assist in determining
how to make jobs more appealing to other groups of people not traditionally within them. Where is the
data? There are a variety of sources that can be used to find information about particular jobs. The
most common are the employees currently in the job being analyzed or the manager the job would
report to. In some cases however the job may not exist yet and so other sources may need to be
considered. Some examples might include: ● National Occupational Classification (NOC) ● Existing
job descriptions ● Performance evaluations ● The internet What data should be collected? In order to
assure the viability and reliability of the results of the analysis its imperative to consider what data will
be collected. Once the questioning has begun any deviation from the questions posed between sources
would result in skewed results. Some common areas of interest include but are not limited to the
following: ● Job Identification ● Job duties and responsibilities ● Required knowledge, skills and

Olaudah Equiano On Slavery

Pontiac, Two Speeches, one speech is from 1762 and the other from 1763 by Pontiac
New York Workingmen demand a Voice in the Revolutionary Struggle, an article from Brutus, To the
Free and Loyal Inhabitants of the City and Colony of New York
Everyone has a different view about Freedom and Slavery. In this book, It describes that everyone has
their own personal opinion of what freedom and slavery is. Olaudah Equiano had to deal with
struggling to live a normal life and since he had to be cautious so he wouldn t become a slave. That is
one of the most scariest situations to be in. Though he witnesses the sale of slaves in the West Indies,
Equiano himself is not purchased, and he stayed with the Dutch ship, traveling from the West Indies to
North America. There he is purchased and put to work on a Virginia plantation, doing light field work
and household chores. He is not in Virginia long before Michael Henry Pascal, a lieutenant in the
British royal navy and captain of a merchant ship, purchases him as a present to some of his friends in
England (Equiano p. 94)This shows how the times were back in the day and scary it was! No one was
safe and to live in that constant struggle was even more terrifying. Pontiac believed that him and the
other native indians should ve given more freedom Pontiac exclaims, We are not your slaves. These

Controversy Behind Qatar 2022 Bid Essay
Qatar 2022 On 2 December 2010 it was announced that Qatar would host the 2022 FIFA World Cup,
after the FIFA Executive Committee voted in a secret ballot in Zurich. The government of Qatar s
successful proposal bid defeated four other candidates to stage the 2022 edition of the world s greatest
sporting event: Australia, Korea Republic, Japan and the United States of America. Qatar, with a
population of 1.69 million people will be the first Arab state to host the World Cup. Consequently,
Qatar is the smallest nation, both by relative population and by area, ever to have been awarded the
tournament hosting privilege. The Qatar bid was emphasized as the only one representing the Arab

When games are not taking place, the solar installations at the stadia will export energy onto the power
grid. During matches, the stadia will draw energy from the grid. This is the basis for the stadiums
carbon neutrality. Along with the stadiums, we plan to make the cooling technologies we ve developed
available to other countries in hot climates, so that they too can host major sporting events. This
method of cooling techniques is theoretically able to reduce temperatures from 50 to 27 degrees
Celsius. The bidding committee also proposes to use such cooling technologies in fan zones, training
pitches and walkways between metro stations and stadiums. However, the architect in charge of one of
the venues has abandoned their project claiming that a more old fashioned solution would be cheaper
and better. Leading firm Populous, which is designing the Sports City stadium in Doha, is trying to
persuade Qatari organizers to scrap plans to have air conditioning at the venue. Populous director John
Barrow said the system is too expensive and notoriously unsustainable for the environment when used
on a large scale. Given the debate on the subject, a proposal of hosting a Winter World Cup has arisen.
Backed by the likes of Blatter and Platini, the proposal suggests for the tournament to be held in
January of 2022, rather than the summer. Blatter has told reporters Personally, now that the decision

It perhaps is the only place that exists that has living, breathing, and intelligent beings on it. So when
one lays back in the grass on a nice warm breezy night ,and looks up into the stars and thinks deeply
about being on the only planet known to have life on it, it raises more questions as to how important
the earth is to us? What if we run out of space on earth? Or what if we use all the materials we have
access to on earth? All these questions are very important to how society should be run, because what
truly would happen if we ran out of resources? This is where people have come up with the brilliant
idea of conservation and using it to keep earth and us moving for many years to come. Conservation is
the only way that we can ensure that we will have a healthy planet for future generations to use. That
is why conservation effects the environment and the ecology on earth so greatly. If there were no
environmental conservation laws then most likely people would have destroyed earth almost
completely by now. For some time the environment wasn t very regulated and people were allowed to
do what they wanted. This ended up causing many environmental disasters like the Dust Bowl, the
extinction of many animals due to overhunting, and the loss of biodiversity and animal extinction
from the process of deforestation. This is why conservation is very beneficial to the earth and
everything on it. As the article stated Environmentalist call for protecting or improving the

Baby Boomers Baby boomers can be described as individuals raised during a time of economic
growth, along with turmoil with politics and ideologic issues (Hoole Bonnema, 2015). Baby boomers
are the second oldest generation in the workforce, and working towards retirement. Baby Boomers
poses strong work ethics and loyalty to organizations, they usually do not switch careers (Hoole
Bonnema, 2015). Although Gallup states that baby boomers are the least engaged out of the
generations in the U.S. workforce, in Australia baby boomers are considered the most engaged (Hoole
Bonnema, 2015). However, baby boomers rather work alone that in teams, going back to example
above the four baby boomers in the group values work completion, they rather just come in do their
work and go home, learning new skills and methods to complete work is not on their radar. They

extensive knowledge and what drives engagement for them is money and benefits to prepare for

Textual Analysis Of Hamlet
Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most popular plays to date. It follows the tragic story of the young
prince of Denmark and his quest for revenge. Although it is a great play, it is much too out dated for
the modern generation to be interested in it and to see the greatness of it. The solution for this would
be to create a film that not only exhibits the central themes but also attracts the contemporary teenage
audience. To effectively gain their attention, the setting, characters and language would need to be
modified.
First of all, the setting of Hamlet takes place in Elizabethan times; however, the current teenage
audience would not find that setting relatable or interesting. The setting needs to fit with the audience
they are targeting and if it is a modern day audience then the setting should reflect that. Furthermore,
buildings such as castles are no longer common and the teenage audience would be able to connect
more with high schools or colleges more since it very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Times change and so do the words that people use so it will be hard for a modern day society to
understand the passages full of metaphors and allusions relating to Elizabethan times. Additionally,
watchers may find the film boring or complex if they do not understand what each character is saying.
Conversation is a key aspect in grasping the nature of certain characters and this cannot be done if the
watcher does not comprehend it. Additionally, allusions are abundant in Hamlet, but these allusions
are now centuries too old. Allusions need to be understood by the audience for the most impact but the
ones in Hamlet will not work. For example, It out herods Herod (3.2.14) Herod was known to be a
tyrant but that is not common knowledge for someone in this day and age. Language is a major part in
Hamlet to progress the story and characters but if the audience does not comprehend it, it is more or

Be Nobody s Darling Self Identity Essay
The poems Be Nobody s Darling by Alice Walker and Williams Ernest Henley s Invictus cover the
same main topic of self identity, but each portrays self identity in a different way. In Be Nobody s
Darling , the narrator is telling the reader to go against society, to be an outcast , or to not follow the
crowd, but to go in the opposite direction. The narrator says to take the contradictions of your life, and
wrap around you like a shawl which is saying to turn bad scenarios into good ones. The main meaning
for this poem in my opinion is to show that the reader doesn t have to follow the trends, and if they
don t that isn t bad. In the poem Invictus self identity is shown as a determined individual who won t
let their menace get to him.

Circuses have been around since the 1800, providing entertain for many people throughout the world.

In Once Upon A Time the wall is an important symbol. Not only do the main characters move into a
house with a wall built up around it, but it s also in a highly protected neighborhood. The wall
represents the separation between the races, but specifically whites and other groups. Arguably the
family thinks the wall is a great idea and agree that it should be even higher, You are right, said the
wife, then the wall should be higher. And the wise old witch, the husband s mother, paid for the extra
bricks as her Christmas present to her son and his wife. The increase in the wall height represents the
increase in the government s attempt to create more separation. Gordimer s point is proven after the
family adds wire coils to the fence to protect them from Apartheid. What the characters don t seem to

Capitalism and the Natural Environment Essay
Concept of capitalism can be difficult to understand. It is commonly identified by economist and
political philosophers as a system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated
in the free market in exchange for a profit (Galbraith, 1952). The economical/social system determines
the structure of production, the allocation of inputs and outputs, and consumption of goods. Capitalism
remains popular in America because it values freedom, much like the people in our country. This is
true because it allows individuals to set their own plans and pursue their own goals; in addition, one
can decide what career they would enjoy most, thus creating an incentive and reward for achieving
ones ambitions. In a free market, everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Capitalism leads to the creation of unprecedented wealth, advanced technology, and wide prosperity.
Yet capitalism is denounced as a system of greed, materialism, and ruthless dog eat dog competition
One positive implication capitalism has to the natural environment is industrial ecology, a system of
chain production and consumption, serving to the lowest environmental impacts in a most
environmentally sustainable economy as the main goal of operation (Richards Pearson, 1998). The
Companies in a like to operate in such way because of four major reasons. The most important factor
is known as the corporate well being, for it is determined by higher profits and growth provided by
innovations in an industry. Profits are increased from recognizing the production ineffiency costs that
comes from wasted inputs and energy losses; this allowing cost savings to increase and ineffiency to
decrease. compliance with cleaner technology alternatives such as ones that produce less waste and
less energy will provide long term savings which are both beneficial to the environment and the
business at hand. A real world example freight company changes their salvaged driving equipment to
hybrid vehicles. Money is temporarily lost, but the gasoline and maintenances cost savings will
compensate in a long run period of time.
Industrial ecological systems are also used because of the consumer demand.

Emily Dickinson s Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church
Although many of Emily Dickinson s poems are short they carry many meaningful and sayings and
ideas. The unique style of her poems has caused many to ponder at her works, but is nevertheless
monumental. The length and the dashes used by Dickinson is what makes her poems so interesting an
inspiring to read. In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , Dickinson uses dashes to
emphasize her points. The dashes also cause the reader to stop which allows for a unique rhythm in
the poem. At the time that this particular work was written the first two lines would have probably
caused someone to naturally stop, Some keep the Sabbath going to Church / I keep it staying at Home
(Dickinson 1 2). After each pause one can almost hear a lady or gentlemen from Dickinson s time
gasping at such an unpopular statement. To think that someone would go against the status quo and
say that she does not feel God s presence in church but rather at her house is baffling. However, the
last lines sums up the poems point nicely by saying, So instead of getting to Heaven, at last / I m
going, all along (Dickinson 11 12). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dashes in this poem are used more for emphasizing the sadness and anger the narrator feels at her
lost. Instead of a bold and defiant stance the breaks in this poem reflect how fragmented the words are
of those who have lost. What the narrator has lost is unclear, but it is obvious that she is angry at God
for what she has lost by the lines, Twice have I stood a beggar/ Before the door of God! (Dickinson 3
4). The exclamation point at the end of the line illustrates her anger. She also describes God as
Burglar! Banker Father which shows the aspects of God as being one who takes, gives, and creates
(Dickinson 7). The punctuation usage demonstrates that the narrator is hurting over her loss and that
religion cannot comfort

Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
The identity of a person is often considered to be synonymous with his culture, whether it be to a
distinct nation, race, or way of thought. However, one of the greatest conflicts a person can endure is
one with himself, when he is caught between the innate desire to belong and a sense of self and
difference from the society that he belongs to. In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, such is the case
with Bernard Marx. Marx faces the immense dilemma of not fitting in in the greatly socialized and
cohesive civilization that he lives in, the Brave New World. Despite how much Bernard disdains this
world, which he identifies as brainwashed and infantile, he cannot help desiring to belong. Huxley
brilliantly contrasts Marx s hatred of his civilization with his eventual plea to remain a part of it after
his exile is sealed in order to highlight the natural desire of man to belong, regardless of how different
he may feel from his surroundings. While most people in Bernard s world belong to one of a handful
of groups, and are mere copies of identical clones, Bernard is entirely unique. Despite belonging to the
highest caste of Alphas in his society, Bernard lacks both the physical and psychological
characteristics of any Alpha. Unlike everyone else in his caste, Bernard is very small, lacks the
appreciation for trivial games like electromagnetic golf, and most seriously, believes there is more to
an individual than pleasure seeking and his role as a component of

Charles Dickens Doubling Quotes
The motif of doubling has been repeatedly shown throughout the book. Charles Dickens finds
numerous ways to show the constant pattern of doubling from using children, to using exact
metaphors. Life could either be one way or the other. Factors in life an either duplicate themselves or
oppose themselves. He uses this repeated motif to emphasize the theme of life being a parallel
universe. The prominent quote in Book 1, is the perfect example of how he does it it was the best of
times, it was the worst of times. This well known quote continues on by saying it was the age of
wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was
the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of
despair, we had everything before us, we have nothing before us.... Everything Dickens describes
opposes the other. Another way dickens shows doubling is by comparing their children to their
parents. The first pair he compares is Jimmy Cruncher and his son. Jerry Cruncher, also known as the
resurrection man is a grave robber in the book. His son Young Jerry follows him one night and sees
what Jerry does. The next day he asks his father and informs that he wants to be like his father when
he grows up. This shows doubling in more than one way. Initially, his name is Young Jerry. Secondly,
he wants to follow in his father s footsteps. Another child to parent pair is Young Lucie Manette and
her mother Lucie. Lucie Manette grew up without a father, he was in prison. When he was released
she was all grown up, however she didn t let that affect their father daughter relationship. As Lucie
grows up and marries a man named Charles Darnay, they have a girl named Lucie, in other words,
Young Lucie. Charles Darnay flees to France and ends up in prison, trying to resolve the issue the
Manettes beg for mercy but none is granted. This shows the pattern of doubling because now Young
Lucie will experience growing up without a father, just like her mother did. Dickens also shows the
compare and contrast side of doubling by comparing Lucie Manette and Madame Defarge. Both
characters have completely different life styles. Lucie lives is London and is

Pain is debilitating. Pain is suffering. Pain is unbearable. It crushes both mental and physical parts of

Essay on Ohmeda
The BOC Group: Ohmeda (A)
Marketing Management
Company Analysis:
Ohmeda, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BOC Group, operated historically in three key areas:
medical equipment, gases, and supplies. In 1985, Ohmeda s president, W. Dekle Rountree, was
planning to exit gases and supplies in order to focus solely on high tech medical equipment. Through
this shift in strategy, Rountree was hoping to grow equipment revenues from $95M in 1985 to
$158.5M in 1990.
In order to execute successfully on his growth plan, Rountree would need to re assess Ohmeda s
marketing channel strategy. In 1985, 43% of equipment sales ($41M out of $95M) were booked
through dealers. Dealers provided increased coverage, but also carried significant ... Show more

For example, the cutting edge Intensive Care Incubator (ICI) and CPU 1 ventilator had both
experienced disappointing sales since launch. Although these products had meaningful clinical
benefits, Ohmeda s sales force was not able to communicate those benefits effectively to its
customers.
Customer Analysis:
Ohmeda segmented the market into six categories based on population density (urban vs. rural) and
hospital bed size. Within these categories, the specific decision maker varied by product, ranging from
the head nurse to an anesthesiologist, respiratory therapist, or hospital engineer.
Ohmeda did not appear to have a specific strategy in place in terms of how best to sell to various
decision makers. As a result, sales effectiveness was inconsistent across segments. For example, while
small urban hospitals ( lt;200 beds) typically only required 15 hours of selling time for anesthesia
systems, large urban hospitals ( gt;700 beds) required 36 hours. Although larger hospitals may have a
more complex decision process, it is unlikely that extra bureaucracy alone would account 21
additional hours of selling time.
Ohmeda s ineffective sales strategy for large urban hospitals was a serious problem. Market share for
anesthesia equipment among urban hospitals with gt;700 beds) was just 22.7%, significantly lower
than all other segments. At 39.8%, market share for urban hospitals with 500 699

The first design was introduced in 1905. However, they only used it on match day programmes not on

their name on football league.
On 1952, a new design was launched. This was possible because a new manager took over, Ted Drake,
who wanted to change the pensioner logo as a part of his modernization for the club. The design was
the initials of the club, C.F.C. After a year, they changed it again. The third logo consists of the coat of

Viscount Chelsea. At the top of the logo, there are three roses that signifies England while the
footballs in between are representing the sport, soccer. On this design, the lion is holding a staff and it

William Blake Argument
Did he who made the Lamb make thee? William Blake, The Tyger. This line in particular turns
William Blake s poem from simple to complex. This line shows that there is two very strong sides to
Blake s thinking. Why would God create such a terrifying creature, as the tiger, when it only causes
harm? In The Lamb, Blake describes God as meek and mild. However, if God is meek and mild, how
could He possible create such a beast? As many read these two poems, they step back and wonder,
which side do they follow? Should we believe God to be all good, or is there a darker side to this
story? A common defense for the tiger would be, God works in mysterious ways, or, It s all of God s
plan. Nevertheless, that is not a direct answer. Why does He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One thing I like religion for is the morals. Many religions believe that you shouldn t put harmful
things into your body. They may also promote abstinence or not dating until a certain age. They can
also contradict their good morals with something such as being homosexual is bad. I do not believe
gay marriage is wrong, so I would not be able to fully commit to that religion if that was one of the
beliefs. What are the benefits to being a tiger? A tiger may tell you that they don t have to deal with
the religious fluff. By fluff I mean all the stuff a religion includes other than simply having faith. An
example being, going to church, or attending other church gatherings. This is true, and it is something
I quite enjoy while not being devoted to a church. Tigers often have strong reasoning as to why they
are a tiger. One common reason is they were once hurt. If God exist, why would He allow for any hurt
to happen? When they needed him most, where was He? I have yet to have something happen to me to
make me throw the idea of God completely out the window, but that does not mean it has not
happened to others. I completely respect their choice and if they wish to be a tiger, so be

In Han China, the social beliefs of Confucianism brought China closer by teaching morals and ethical

Christians believe in spiritual peace. These beliefs conflicted with Rome s military virtues, triggering

The Roots Of The European Union
INTRODUCTION The roots of the European Union can be traced back to the early 1950 s when a
small number of countries made a decision to join together as a way to resolve any potential conflict
nurture economic growth and common values across the continent. There was a desire to promote
common values and membership was opened to all European countries. Since the inception the
number of members has grown from a founding six countries to what we now know as the modern
day EU with a current total of 28 countries with a further 8 countries under application review. In
1992, what was then a group of twelve countries, joined together to form the Customs Community
Code which was eventually introduced in January 1993. The code effectively merged the individual
customs regulations in to a single customs union. BENEFITS OF EU TRADE There are many
benefits of trading within the EU, the agreement in 1993 was effectively the start of what we now
refer to as the single market, it removed the borders of a member country for trade enabling the free
movement of goods between members without the encumbrance of the customs process and reducing
the need of a significant amount of accompanying documents that was required for goods being
moved across borders. Previously it was necessary for goods to be shipped with certificates of origin,

The Crucial Role Of Violence In Africa
Violence plays a crucial role in the liberation of various African countries. The necessity of the
violence, and the justifications for the violence are both highly debatable. However, knowing the
prominent role that violence played in the initial colonization, is a justifiable and necessary act of the
colonized peoples in the fight for their independence. War and violence played a large role in various
political changes throughout history; often war is used as a tactic to force change, when all else has
failed. The people of these African countries are using violence in much the same way, to take back
their freedom. An oppressed people cannot be punished for their violent actions intended to take back

Through this mindset of the colonizers, the colonized find necessity and justification in their violent
actions for their freedom and liberation. Fanon, discussing the Battle for Algiers, writes, The Front de

knife is at its throat (Fanon, 23). If the governing force is willing to torture and kill many innocent
Muslim people for the suppression of the rebellion, then the only option is more bloodshed to stop the
killing and the torture. Though violent actions often hurt innocent bystanders, the FLN believed it was
still necessary in order to have their will accepted and acknowledged. Understanding the justification
of violence that injures and sometimes even kills innocent people is hard; however, if one looks at it
from the point of view of the oppressed, the people are standing by, watching them be treated like
animals and doing nothing to help. They are now accomplices instead of innocent bystanders, and the

Summary Of Fashion Design By Cristbal Balenciaga
CristĂłbal Balenciaga was a fashion designer who always wanted to trial different styles. To lead him
the route in which he would then outline an altogether novel outfit and it is this origination that the
Victoria and Albert Museum have opted to concentrate on this orderly constructed exhibition.
The exhibition is closely structured around three sections: Front of House looks at Balenciaga s
salons, Workrooms uncovers what happens behind the scenes, and Balenciaga s Legacy examines the
impact he has had on other major fashion brands.
From start to finish, the show focuses on the most minor subtle elements that made Balenciaga s
fashion. The designer was never reluctant to be striking as far as style and praising procedure as
opposed to style. CristĂłbal Balenciaga s work was so true to modernity and femininity. Innovative and
inviting, his work is always inspiring .
The show uncovers this was a creator who needed to guarantee that each component of his creations

Immunity in the U.S. Court Essay
The right to not incriminate one s self is established within the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution.
The Fifth Amendment states, No person...shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness
against himself (Davenport, 2006, P. 87). People may plead the fifth as a means of refusing to answer
questions about alleged criminal activities. The right to not self incriminate, is a fundamental right
meant to protect individuals from being forced into giving evidence that could be used against one s
self. This concept against self incrimination extended to forced confessions due to Miranda v. Arizona.
In the Miranda case, the Supreme Court decided that police have an obligation to inform a suspect to
his rights under Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases this works in two ways. For example, if a defendant gives testimony about a murder
cases and says were they threw the gun, police cannot be asked to search for the weapon to be used as
evidence. However, if by chance someone independent by the government finds the weapon and turns
it in, the weapon can be used as evidence against the defendant (Davenport, 2006). The other form of
Immunity is transactional immunity, which is absolute protection against prosecution for any event or
transaction about which a witness is compelled to give testimony or furnish evidence (Neubauer, 2011,
p. 466). This form of immunity is said to be the preferred form of immunity by defendants, because
the government will be barred from prosecuting the defendant for a crime they were granted immunity
(Davenport, 2006). Use immunity grants less protection than transactional immunity in that witnesses
may not refuse the government s offer of immunity. In this case, accepting immunity is forced and is
not a choice. In the case Kastigar v. United States, the belief was that Charles Joseph Kastigar would
use the Fifth Amendment protection against self incrimination. The issued an order granting immunity
but Kastigar and Stewart refused to testify (Kastigar v. United States Case Background, 2009). The
claim was that only transactional immunity, which was not granted, would

According to Slater, if someone types B.F. Skinner in the Web, we would get thousands of articles
about Skinner s horrible experiments on her daughter (9). Slater started this chapter explaining the
misunderstandings about Skinner s daughter; Deborah was dead according to some people. Deborah
was the famous baby in the box who by many it was a terrible experiment. Slater talks about her
experience when looking at the box where Deborah slept for a couple years. Actually, she clarified
how the box was dismantled but she was able to see a picture. Slater also mentioned how this famous
box was not an outrageous experiment but a safe playpen; this playpen was thermostatically controlled
which would work against diaper rash. Moreover, the box was well equipped to meet all the baby s
necessities and to keep her from hurting herself (23). Many would be impressed by the work Skinner
did to protect her daughter; he must have putted a lot of effort on constructing this playpen for his
daughter. Not every father has the patience to work in a safety box to protect his daughter. We need to
keep this in mind while reading through this chapter because by many Skinner is not a good father.
Now, there are all these erroneous ideas about Skinner hurting his daughter in the famous box when in
reality it was the other way

Analysis Of The Story The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin
Death is the wish of some, relief of many, and the end of all. Death, which is often seen as a great evil,
can sometimes be seen as something for the greater good of someone. To many, death is a liberator
and a comforter. It is a journey we ll all have to embark, sooner or later. Death can be the beginning of
the end to many people, an event which can bring everlasting happiness, but also a shattering sadness.
The short story The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, which was published in 1894, presents a not so
common viewpoint of death. One could say that this story has brought about a brief renewing love for
life with one of the main characters. On the other hand, The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes
shows a painful reaction to death, that is quite relatable to what one may usually experience. The death
in The Moths can be looked at as a moment of grief in pain, but also a moment for maturity and
rebirth. Moreover, The Story of an Hour depicts death as a problem solver and something that can
bring unimaginable amounts of freedom. Death can be looked at as perhaps a sort of liberation that
can bring about a renewal for life. In other aspects, death can be viewed as a moment of grief and
pain. Lastly, death may work as a spark which brings another loved one back into your life.
Renewing love for life and freedom are two things that many suddenly feel once they ve finished
grieving from the loss of a loved one. As seen in Chopin s The Story of an Hour the main

Summary Of Passing Nella Larsen
Nella larsen s passing disrupts the traditional conception of racial, ethnic and gender integrity. Larsens
has revolutionized the idea of acceptance of one s self identity.Larsen wrote this novel in the height of
the Harlem Renaissance . An era that is known for its growth and expanse in the artistic explosion that
happened in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period
Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, poets, and educated people. Many had
come from the South, running away from its terrible mistreatment and social class system in order to
find a place where they could freely express their talents. It involved racial pride, fueled in part by the
aggressiveness of the New Negro demanding civil and political rights. The Renaissance incorporated
jazz and the blues, attracting whites to Harlem, where couples danced. While it may have ... Show

After the chaos of the Spanish flu pandemic that struck the city in 1918 and 1919, she decided to
become a librarian and was employed at the 135th Street branch of the New York Public Library. At
the first look, Passing, the title of the short book may project many meanings to the reader. Passing
could refer to the change from life to death. Although the word passing could simply be referring to a
change , the word also suggests disguising oneself, or to take on a different identity. To pass, certainly
refers to a to cross an edge/border. While no significant suggestions of race or sexuality are given in
the title, it anyway suggests disguise, deceit and change . This changing period is quite possibly the
process that Nella Larsen is referring to in the title of her short book Passing. According to Webster,
change is defined as A passing or passage from one condition, action or place to another, and ...the
passage from an earlier to a later stage of development

The Stage Manager In Thornton Wilder s Our Town
In the early 20th century, Thornton Wilder began his career as an esteemed playwright with
exceptional ideas. He acquainted the modern world with the concept of utilizing an amateur actor
communicating the events of a story. The play Our Town possesses an unmatchable concept that is the
Stage Manager himself and the peculiar purpose of his presence. The Stage Manager is a nameless and
straightforward character whom is dressed with an already lit pipe and a hat, giving him the
appearance of an ordinary man (Galens 226; Austell 95). His first impression on stage shows him
casually chatting with the spectators, sharing trivia of Grover s Corners, and overall being the
embodiment of common knowledge (226). One of his purposes is to act as a metaphorical bridge that
coheres the audience to the events on and off stage while oscillating ... Show more content on

The Stage Manager s existence in the play, however, is to serve as a modernized Greek Chorus (Ballet
77). The reason for the Greek Chorus is to make aloof remarks on the acts of the play and advise the
audience on how to react to an occurrence (Galens 226). As Galens puts it, Our Town boldly focuses
on the perpetual cycle of life and displays humankind s closest understanding of eternity. This makes
the Stage Manager act as a god like figure who is both a narrator and a character of the play (222,
226). Because he seals the division between life and death in Grover s Corners and the spectators of
the drama, the Stage Manager expresses a sense of composure and sensitivity for the enjoyment of the
visitors of the town (Austell 98; Ballet 77). He unravels each scene, fills in the background, and leads
the viewers through Grover s Corners (77; Austell 95). In addition, The Stage

Descriptive Essay On Dorm Life

College Dorm Life
When considering about college, the first thing came to mind is life in a dormitory. I have heard horror
stories about living in dorms which made me anxious about my upcoming dorm life. What would life
be when living away from parents? What adjustments would require making from home to dorm life?
How would the balance of time when managing myself? New problems from dorm ate and neighbors?
What is it like to shower in a co ed bathroom? Countless questions have popped in mind before I
stepped in college. However, recalling from this one month of college life, I have noticed some
significant changes as I move out from the roof of parents and into a dorm room.
The Joe West Hall is one of the residential halls at San Jose State University which hosts approximate
600 freshmen. It is considering the worst building here at SJSU since it is the only building that
without air condition. I have chosen to live in a double occupancy room in Joe West under the choices
of single, double and triple. When I first entered in my dorm, the spacing is as small as I thought it
would be before. Our dorm room is furnished with two twin beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets.
It is just a single small room which could fairly use by myself. As the only child from home, my
parents were worried that I would have trouble sharing living space with someone else for the first
time. However, I did manage not to have

Brief of the case study:
The Future of Customer Experience And Customer Service By BlackBerry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TQtrXyeIhY amp;feature=share
I have chosen a video released by BlackBerry recently, as my case study for this assignment.
This case study makes us aware of the potential future of customer experience management with the
advances in technology.
Customer experience (CX) is the sum of all experiences a customer has with a supplier of goods or
services, over the duration of their relationship with that supplier. From awareness, discovery,
attraction, interaction, purchase, use, cultivation and advocacy. It can also be used to mean an
individual experience over one transaction; the distinction is usually clear ... Show more content on

There are hundreds of examples, with more coming every day.
The point is these increasing levels of digitally driven personalization allow customers to choose what
they consume, from whom, and how they interact with and consume it. These digital experiences are
training smart customers to expect everything, from every company product, services, experiences,
and more to be customized in a similar manner. When it comes to innovative customer experience, this
all leads to one word: personalization.
One Size Fits All Simply Doesn t Fly Anymore. And It Doesn t Have To. No company can afford to or
needs to deliver a fully customized ideal experience to each individual customer across the range of
digital, human, and static touchpoints and interactions.
The fact is, some customers are simply worth more than others, and it takes a great deal of intelligence
for companies to figure out what the right experiences are for any given group of customers, much
less how to personalize them.
The good news is, smart touchpoints and the data they can produce, combined with the ability to
analyze the digital breadcrumbs and data that surrounds almost every customer, means that any firm of
any size has the tools for intelligent personalization at hand.
Starting with what can be the biggest step, a firm needs to be willing to adjust its offerings to the
needs of individual customers based on an understanding of what those individual

Compare And Contrast Jack And Ralph In Lord Of The Flies
In the classic novel, The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, it explores the themes of the different
perspectives and ideologies humans use to civilize themselves. In the novel, the main protagonist
Ralph best represents the logical point of view, attempting to conserve the utopian island, while the
antagonist Jack best illustrates the savage point of view, which results in the creation of a dystopia
based on his lust for enjoyment. In Lord of The Flies, even though both Ralph and Jack represent
different ideologies, they do possess some similarities between them. While both characters have
different leading styles, it can be argued that they are effective leaders. They are both adverse in
inspiring those their followers, the boys in the island, with Ralph using hope for returning to motivate
the rest of the boys stranded in the island, while Jack uses fear against the beast as a catalyst for his
seizing of power. In my opinion, this similarity is the reason why these two different pathways were
capable of remaining popular among the boys or what they symbolize, society. The reason for this is
because as social creatures, humans need to have a high morale to be able to achieve progress, which
is something that requires capable leaders. Jack used a particularly cruel method by making the beast
as a sort of religion for the boys by using it as a figurehead for his power. He treated the beast like a
deity when he stated that the, head is for the beast. It s a gift (Golding,

ugly. When they turn 16, the uglies are turned into a pretty by an operation. Tally is a teenager who

has to face many choices which change her old perspectives. In Uglies, Tally s character changes

One time Tally s character changes, is when she meets Dr. Cable. When she went to get her operation

Essay The Elvis Craze
The Elvis Craze The public made Elvis Presley larger than life, better known than Jimi Hendrix, John
Lennon and in some cases God Himself. I cannot quite understand the Elvis craze. I don t think he was
a handsome man, I don t enjoy his music, I won t waste my time trying to sit through one of his
boring, talentless movies, and if, God forbid, I end up on my deathbed with some horrible, incurable
disease, I certainly won t make a pilgrimage to Graceland to be miraculously healed. Jack Gould
conveyed some of my feeling in the essay TV: New Phenomenon when he wrote, Mr. Presley has no
discernible singing ability. Although he gave away cars, cash, and gifts to friends, family, and
sometimes, strangers, I can t think of any of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his teen years, Elvis absorbed the cultural aspects and musical style of Country, Gospel, and
Rhythm Blues. He lived in the South, where Country music was most prevalent, it was sort of a given
for him for him to adopt the country music style. His parents were devout churchgoers, and Elvis
frequently attended the all night revivals, where he enjoyed jumping around and singing the gospel. It
is also known that Elvis spent quite a bit of time on Memphis s Beale Street, known for its Rhythm
Blues clubs. When Elvis did unoriginal songs that had been sung previously by other artists, he added
his own flavor that was made up of his mixed Gospel, Country, and R B background. His style drew
diverse crowds, and songs such as Hound Dog and Don t Be Cruel went to #1 in the Country, R B and
Pop charts. None of this justifies the deification of Elvis. After a brief stint in the US Army, Elvis
started concentrating more on movies. He made a wide variety of movies, GI Blues, Blue Hawaii,
Viva Las Vegas, and Fun in Acapulco to name a few. Although the movies were basically glorified
music videos, as they contained no real plot and a lot of singing, these movies and their songs made
millions. I honestly think that if the Elvis myth that is discussed in Griel Marcus s essay, Presliad, had
not already been put in place by Elvis s fans, the movies would not have grossed half the money,

In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , Dickinson uses dashes to emphasize her points. The dashes also cause the reader to stop which allows for a unique rhythm in the poem. At the time that this particular work was written the first two lines would have probably caused someone to naturally stop, Some keep the Sabbath going to Church / I keep it staying at Home (Dickinson 1 2). After each pause one can almost hear a lady or gentlemen from Dickinson s time gasping at such an unpopular statement. To think that someone would go against the status quo and say that she does not feel God s presence in church but rather at her house is baffling. However, the last lines sums up the poems point nicely by saying, So instead of getting to Heaven, at last / I m going, all along (Dickinson 11 12). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dashes in this poem are used more for emphasizing the sadness and anger the narrator feels at her lost. Instead of a bold and defiant stance the breaks in this poem reflect how fragmented the words are of those who have lost. What the narrator has lost is unclear, but it is obvious that she is angry at God for what she has lost by the lines, Twice have I stood a beggar/ Before the door of God! (Dickinson 3 4). The exclamation point at the end of the line illustrates her anger. She also describes God as Burglar! • 25. Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World The identity of a person is often considered to be synonymous with his culture, whether it be to a distinct nation, race, or way of thought. However, one of the greatest conflicts a person can endure is one with himself, when he is caught between the innate desire to belong and a sense of self and difference from the society that he belongs to. In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, such is the case with Bernard Marx. Marx faces the immense dilemma of not fitting in in the greatly socialized and cohesive civilization that he lives in, the Brave New World. Despite how much Bernard disdains this world, which he identifies as brainwashed and infantile, he cannot help desiring to belong. Huxley brilliantly contrasts Marx s hatred of his civilization with his eventual plea to remain a part of it after his exile is sealed in order to highlight the natural desire of man to belong, regardless of how different he may feel from his surroundings. While most people in Bernard s world belong to one of a handful of groups, and are mere copies of identical clones, Bernard is entirely unique. Despite belonging to the highest caste of Alphas in his society, Bernard lacks both the physical and psychological characteristics of any Alpha. Unlike everyone else in his caste, Bernard is very small, lacks the appreciation for trivial games like electromagnetic golf, and most seriously, believes there is more to an individual than pleasure seeking and his role as a component of ... • 26. Charles Dickens Doubling Quotes The motif of doubling has been repeatedly shown throughout the book. Charles Dickens finds numerous ways to show the constant pattern of doubling from using children, to using exact metaphors. Life could either be one way or the other. Factors in life an either duplicate themselves or oppose themselves. He uses this repeated motif to emphasize the theme of life being a parallel universe. The prominent quote in Book 1, is the perfect example of how he does it it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. This well known quote continues on by saying it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we have nothing before us.... Everything Dickens describes opposes the other. Another way dickens shows doubling is by comparing their children to their parents. The first pair he compares is Jimmy Cruncher and his son. Jerry Cruncher, also known as the resurrection man is a grave robber in the book. His son Young Jerry follows him one night and sees what Jerry does. The next day he asks his father and informs that he wants to be like his father when he grows up. This shows doubling in more than one way. Initially, his name is Young Jerry. Secondly, he wants to follow in his father s footsteps. Another child to parent pair is Young Lucie Manette and her mother Lucie. Lucie Manette grew up without a father, he was in prison. When he was released she was all grown up, however she didn t let that affect their father daughter relationship. As Lucie grows up and marries a man named Charles Darnay, they have a girl named Lucie, in other words, Young Lucie. Charles Darnay flees to France and ends up in prison, trying to resolve the issue the Manettes beg for mercy but none is granted. This shows the pattern of doubling because now Young Lucie will experience growing up without a father, just like her mother did. Dickens also shows the compare and contrast side of doubling by comparing Lucie Manette and Madame Defarge. Both characters have completely different life styles. Lucie lives is London and is ... The Fifth Amendment states, No person...shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself (Davenport, 2006, P. 87). People may plead the fifth as a means of refusing to answer questions about alleged criminal activities. The right to not self incriminate, is a fundamental right meant to protect individuals from being forced into giving evidence that could be used against one s self. The other form of Immunity is transactional immunity, which is absolute protection against prosecution for any event or transaction about which a witness is compelled to give testimony or furnish evidence (Neubauer, 2011, p. 466). This form of immunity is said to be the preferred form of immunity by defendants, because the government will be barred from prosecuting the defendant for a crime they were granted immunity (Davenport, 2006). • 43. Analysis Of The Story The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin Death is the wish of some, relief of many, and the end of all. Death, which is often seen as a great evil, can sometimes be seen as something for the greater good of someone. To many, death is a liberator and a comforter. It is a journey we ll all have to embark, sooner or later. Death can be the beginning of the end to many people, an event which can bring everlasting happiness, but also a shattering sadness. The short story The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, which was published in 1894, presents a not so common viewpoint of death. One could say that this story has brought about a brief renewing love for life with one of the main characters. On the other hand, The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes shows a painful reaction to death, that is quite relatable to what one may usually experience. The death in The Moths can be looked at as a moment of grief in pain, but also a moment for maturity and rebirth. Moreover, The Story of an Hour depicts death as a problem solver and something that can bring unimaginable amounts of freedom. Death can be looked at as perhaps a sort of liberation that can bring about a renewal for life. In other aspects, death can be viewed as a moment of grief and pain. Lastly, death may work as a spark which brings another loved one back into your life. Renewing love for life and freedom are two things that many suddenly feel once they ve finished grieving from the loss of a loved one. As seen in Chopin s The Story of an Hour the main ... • 46. The Stage Manager In Thornton Wilder s Our Town In the early 20th century, Thornton Wilder began his career as an esteemed playwright with exceptional ideas. He acquainted the modern world with the concept of utilizing an amateur actor communicating the events of a story. The play Our Town possesses an unmatchable concept that is the Stage Manager himself and the peculiar purpose of his presence. The Stage Manager is a nameless and straightforward character whom is dressed with an already lit pipe and a hat, giving him the appearance of an ordinary man (Galens 226; Austell 95). His first impression on stage shows him casually chatting with the spectators, sharing trivia of Grover s Corners, and overall being the embodiment of common knowledge (226). One of his purposes is to act as a metaphorical bridge that coheres the audience to the events on and off stage while oscillating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Stage Manager s existence in the play, however, is to serve as a modernized Greek Chorus (Ballet 77). The reason for the Greek Chorus is to make aloof remarks on the acts of the play and advise the audience on how to react to an occurrence (Galens 226). As Galens puts it, Our Town boldly focuses on the perpetual cycle of life and displays humankind s closest understanding of eternity. This makes the Stage Manager act as a god like figure who is both a narrator and a character of the play (222, 226). Because he seals the division between life and death in Grover s Corners and the spectators of the drama, the Stage Manager expresses a sense of composure and sensitivity for the enjoyment of the visitors of the town (Austell 98; Ballet 77). He unravels each scene, fills in the background, and leads the viewers through Grover s Corners (77; Austell 95). In addition, The Stage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay On Dorm Life Siyao Huang English 1AF Jada Patchigondla October 13, 2017 College Dorm Life When considering about college, the first thing came to mind is life in a dormitory. I have heard horror stories about living in dorms which made me anxious about my upcoming dorm life. What would life be when living away from parents? What adjustments would require making from home to dorm life? How would the balance of time when managing myself? New problems from dorm ate and neighbors? What is it like to shower in a co ed bathroom? Countless questions have popped in mind before I stepped in college. However, recalling from this one month of college life, I have noticed some significant changes as I move out from the roof of parents and into a dorm room. The Joe West Hall is one of the residential halls at San Jose State University which hosts approximate 600 freshmen. It is considering the worst building here at SJSU since it is the only building that without air condition. I have chosen to live in a double occupancy room in Joe West under the choices of single, double and triple. When I first entered in my dorm, the spacing is as small as I thought it would be before. Our dorm room is furnished with two twin beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets. It is just a single small room which could fairly use by myself. As the only child from home, my parents were worried that I would have trouble sharing living space with someone else for the first time. However, I did manage not to have ... Brief of the case study: The Future of Customer Experience And Customer Service By BlackBerry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TQtrXyeIhY amp;feature=share I have chosen a video released by BlackBerry recently, as my case study for this assignment. This case study makes us aware of the potential future of customer experience management with the advances in technology. Customer experience (CX) is the sum of all experiences a customer has with a supplier of goods or services, over the duration of their relationship with that supplier. From awareness, discovery, attraction, interaction, purchase, use, cultivation and advocacy. It can also be used to mean an individual experience over one transaction; the distinction is usually clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are hundreds of examples, with more coming every day. The point is these increasing levels of digitally driven personalization allow customers to choose what they consume, from whom, and how they interact with and consume it. These digital experiences are training smart customers to expect everything, from every company product, services, experiences, and more to be customized in a similar manner. When it comes to innovative customer experience, this all leads to one word: personalization. One Size Fits All Simply Doesn t Fly Anymore. And It Doesn t Have To. No company can afford to or needs to deliver a fully customized ideal experience to each individual customer across the range of digital, human, and static touchpoints and interactions. The fact is, some customers are simply worth more than others, and it takes a great deal of intelligence for companies to figure out what the right experiences are for any given group of customers, much less how to personalize them. The good news is, smart touchpoints and the data they can produce, combined with the ability to analyze the digital breadcrumbs and data that surrounds almost every customer, means that any firm of any size has the tools for intelligent personalization at hand. Starting with what can be the biggest step, a firm needs to be willing to adjust its offerings to the needs of individual customers based on an understanding of what those individual ... • 49. Compare And Contrast Jack And Ralph In Lord Of The Flies In the classic novel, The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, it explores the themes of the different perspectives and ideologies humans use to civilize themselves. In the novel, the main protagonist Ralph best represents the logical point of view, attempting to conserve the utopian island, while the antagonist Jack best illustrates the savage point of view, which results in the creation of a dystopia based on his lust for enjoyment. In Lord of The Flies, even though both Ralph and Jack represent different ideologies, they do possess some similarities between them. While both characters have different leading styles, it can be argued that they are effective leaders. They are both adverse in inspiring those their followers, the boys in the island, with Ralph using hope for returning to motivate the rest of the boys stranded in the island, while Jack uses fear against the beast as a catalyst for his seizing of power. In my opinion, this similarity is the reason why these two different pathways were capable of remaining popular among the boys or what they symbolize, society. The reason for this is because as social creatures, humans need to have a high morale to be able to achieve progress, which is something that requires capable leaders. Jack used a particularly cruel method by making the beast as a sort of religion for the boys by using it as a figurehead for his power. He treated the beast like a deity when he stated that the, head is for the beast. It s a gift (Golding, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Essay The Elvis Craze The Elvis Craze The public made Elvis Presley larger than life, better known than Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and in some cases God Himself. I cannot quite understand the Elvis craze. I don t think he was a handsome man, I don t enjoy his music, I won t waste my time trying to sit through one of his boring, talentless movies, and if, God forbid, I end up on my deathbed with some horrible, incurable disease, I certainly won t make a pilgrimage to Graceland to be miraculously healed. In his teen years, Elvis absorbed the cultural aspects and musical style of Country, Gospel, and Rhythm Blues. He lived in the South, where Country music was most prevalent, it was sort of a given for him for him to adopt the country music style. His parents were devout churchgoers, and Elvis frequently attended the all night revivals, where he enjoyed jumping around and singing the gospel. It is also known that Elvis spent quite a bit of time on Memphis s Beale Street, known for its Rhythm Blues clubs. When Elvis did unoriginal songs that had been sung previously by other artists, he added his own flavor that was made up of his mixed Gospel, Country, and R B background. His style drew diverse crowds, and songs such as Hound Dog and Don t Be Cruel went to #1 in the Country, R B and Pop charts. None of this justifies the deification of Elvis. After a brief stint in the US Army, Elvis started concentrating more on movies. He made a wide variety of movies, GI Blues, Blue Hawaii, Viva Las Vegas, and Fun in Acapulco to name a few. Although the movies were basically glorified music videos, as they contained no real plot and a lot of singing, these movies and their songs made millions. I honestly think that if the Elvis myth that is discussed in Griel Marcus s essay, Presliad, had not already been put in place by Elvis s fans, the movies would not have grossed half the money, ...
