John Doe Analysis
Good Evening Lori Ann, Thank you for the additional response. After reading it, I just wanted to
add that I have found in working with my John Doe, tone plays a big role in his learning. We
have several other Team Leaders and I have noticed that when John does work for them, they
often become frustrated with him or will snap at him if he does forgets or does something
incorrectly. Our campus is often a very hectic place and we generally find ourselves running and
gunning to make it through the day. As you noted, sometimes while all our folks are excellent
leaders, repeating instructions can be slightly overwhelming. To be honest, I think that is why the
ended up assigning John Doe to me because of my background in Corporate Security

City of Niceville 2016 Stormwater Master Plan Addendum
The 2016 Stormwater Master Plan is an overview and summary of the City of Niceville s
Stormwater Management Program and will serve as an addendum to the existing Stormwater
Master Plan. This document will provide a summary of the progress the City has made to address
the water quantity and quality issues as they relate to stormwater runoff. It will identify the past
stormwater projects and drainage activities the City has under taken as a result of previous
assessments, studies and recommendations to improve the efficiency and functionality of the City
s stormwater systems to minimize the adverse environmental impacts of stormwater runoff. This
document also includes the Capital Improvement Element which comprises a list of the drainage
improvement projects that identify the future goals and objectives of the City s Stormwater
Management Program. The City Council s approval of this Stormwater Master Plan Addendum and
the Capital Improvements Plan will become the framework for accomplishing these goals and
objectives.
Background
Beginning in the late 1990 s the city realized the importance of stormwater management and
initiated the necessary steps to identify and minimalize the adverse effects of inadequate drainage
infrastructure. Although the city had adopted stormwater regulations for new development, older
developments and roadways in the city were not regulated prior to 1984 and many of those

Virtual Organization Behavior
Virtual Organization Characteristics
From the definitions of virtual organization/team, it can be summarized that virtual organization
/team has four main characteristics which make it different from non virtual organization/team:
First, cross line, virtual organization/team is centralized with a few or without department.
Business environment change makes a company or organization should be more flexible in doing
its activity. When a company should produce a high quality product to meet their consumer needs,
they could collaborate with other companies to determine consumer needs. In this case, virtual
organization/team has an important role.
Second, resources and purpose sharing, virtual organization/team could facilitate someone with
innovative idea but has not enough resources. Amazon sells a lot of books but they do not really
have the books, they cooperate with other parties who have the books and then sell it via Amazon.
Third, geographic dispersion, refer to any physical dispersion of team members, such as different
geographic locations or different workplaces at the same geographic location, nationally or
internationally. Virtual organization/team could maximize the time difference advantage from its
member. When a US company develops a website they can work on it from morning to evening,
and their partner in the other part of the world (Asia, Africa, or Europe) will continue the
development so it could finished faster.
Fourth, impermanent member, one team formed

Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad And The Film Apocalypse...
Dark, suspenseful, and altogether brutal is what describes Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
and the film adaption Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola. A short novella published in
1899, Heart of Darkness centers on the journey taken by the narrator Marlow up the Congo River
with a Belgian trading company. Upriver he encounters the mysterious ivory trader, Kurtz and is
brought face to face with corruption and despair. Set in the Vietnam War, the film Apocalypse Now
follows the central character, U.S. Army special operations officer Captain Benjamin L.
Willard, of MACV SOG, on a mission to kill the radical and seemingly psychotic U.S. Army
Special Forces Colonel Walter E. Kurtz. Coppola draws on Conrad s characters in order to
create Captain Willard and Colonel Kurtz, but in adapting these dynamic characters he changes
the internal and external forces both main characters endure.Coppola creates interesting parallels
between Willard and Marlow; Marlow s voyage downriver to the heart of Africa and Willard s
mission on the Nung River in Vietnam. Both men are on journey s to the darkest of places:
journey into self , and the discoveries to be made there. Both are about men confronting fears of
failure, insanity, death, and cultural corruption. However, both are also are drastically different at
times. Ronald Bogue s article The Heartless Darkness in Apocalypse Now provides a wonderful
intake on commonalties and differences in the two works. He notes that by

The History of Windows
Ever since the invention of the micro computer, there has been a definitive war between companies
competing for their share of the professional and private computer market. There have been
hundreds of operating systems produced over the years, most of them were not able to maintain a
solid customer base, and became extinct. There are a few, however, that have eclipsed the computer
world. There is a definite line between consumers for the three most popular operating systems,
UNIX, Macintosh, and Windows. Microsoft, who produced Windows, gained wide public support
almost from the beginning, leading to a near monopolization of the computer software industry.
Here is a history of the Windows operating system as it was introduced back in... Show more

This version was the last to boast 100% backward compatibility with older windows applications.
It was based on the new Intel 386 processor, which greatly improved speed and reliability. This
version of Windows also first implemented the use of third party device drivers, allowing for
more focus on writing applications rather than device drivers. Graphical upgrades included the
icon based file manager and program manager, making access to data much easier. The addition
of the well known card game solitaire also made its debut in the 3.0 version of Windows.
Another big leap for Windows 3.x was that it could run in three different memory modes
(Windows Products and Technologies History, 2006). Real mode s only use was for the running
of applications built for Windows 2.x. Standard mode was the most common running mode, as it
was most compatible with the 286 processor and 1 MB of memory that were in most computers
at that time. The last was 386 Enhanced Mode, implemented with all the benefits of standard
mode, plus 32 bit addressing and paging for faster memory access. In 386 Enhanced mode, the
user could run several MS DOS based programs, each in their own window, at the same time.
Third party programming support for the 3.0 version exploded, and application companies all
over the world were developing programs compatible with Windows 3.0. In the first year of its
release, version 3.0 sold

Transferability Skills Analysis
In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current occupational
profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes, work experience and
transferable skills.
Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily equate to them both
becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based upon her/her occupational profile.
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and standardized
testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity information and the National
Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it pertains to the world of work. Testing materials
VRS are qualified to use (if required), usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic
abilities, vocational interest, work style and other aptitudinal profiles. The transferable skills
analysis is a very important process that can determine a person s adjusted occupational profile
based upon past performance and achievement. The evaluation process also includes determining
vocational opportunities that are in keeping with the person s occupational profile including ... Show

Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era
The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe anything irregular,
bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and proportions, (Britannica, 2016).
Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an Italian painter, can be said almost single
handedly to have created the Baroquestyle during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
None other can be more appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his
art, was confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a
powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian Baroque art.
Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every important European artist
of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end of the 16th century, art began to break
away from the refined and disciplined style of mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter
Reformation of the Church, and emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be
known as the Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces, color,
and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost theatrically, inviting the
viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found itself needing to influence and rebuild
its following; turned its attention to the arts. The Counter Reformation used the arts to appeal as
much to the emotions and knowledge

Interest Rates and Other Critical Determinants of...
Interest Rates and Other Critical Determinants of Investment Spending in Bangladesh
Background
Investment, which is a spending devoted to enhancing or maintaining the existing stock of capital
in the economy provides goods and services necessary for better standard of living. Moreover, it has
greater importance as a policy tool. Policymakers often try to achieve target growth in GDP by
influencing the level of investment. They do so by undertaking policies that influence the rate of
interests. The underlying assumption is that investment is negatively related with the rate of
investment.
Historically, economic theories have suggested negative relationship between investment and
interest rates. Changes in either nominal or real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To investigate the impact of interest rates on investment spending, we use a simple regression
function for the two variables but add several slightly different variables. The starting point of
model formulation is;
I= f (LR, SR, S, Y, ER)В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В… (1)
Where, I = Investment LR= Interest rate on loans SR= Interest rate on savings S= Gross Domestic
Savings Y= GDP ER= Exchange rate
Investment is not a function of interest rate alone. Factors like income, savings, and saving rate
along with lending rate are important issues in setting the level of investment. That is why we need
to incorporate all of them in the regression function and test the marginal impact of each of them on
investment.
Accordingly, the estimating equation used in this study is;
where, the term e is the stochastic error term that captures the impact of all other variables not
included in the model.
Model Validation
The coefficient , which gives the change in investment due to one unit change in lending rate is
expected to be negative. Other slope coefficients ( are expected to have positive values since their
associated variables, interest on savings, savings, and income respectively should influence
investment positively. The coefficient can take positive or negative values depending on how a
rising trend in exchange rates influence the level of domestic saving. The expected impact is
determined by the

The Evolution Of Monogamy In Mammals
The evolution of monogamy in mammals has been challenging to understand for ecologists for
many years, because in most cases male mammals are thought to have higher fitness through
polygamous mating. One of the principles of evolution is that animals want to maximize their
reproductive success, so two animals committing to one another kind of seems counter intuitive.
Animals want to pass on their genes to the next generation, and having more offspring means there
s a higher chance of survival. When females have long lactation periods or gestation, they are
unable to mate during this time, so it would seem to be advantageous for the maleto move on to
their next mate. In a biology context, monogamyis when one male mates to one femaleforming an
exclusive bond. Research shows that approximately 3 5% of mammals are considered
monogamous compared to about 90% of birds and out of a total of 4,000 mammalian species
(Munshi South). Birds seem to be extremely monogamous because both male and female birds
actively participate in the growth of their hatchlings. The equitable division of the labor gives the
male bird more of a reason to stick around (Munshi South).
Although most mammals are not monogamous why do some of them exhibit this behavior? We
could address this question by looking at different examples of monogamous mammals and what
genetic and environmental factors could have influenced this behavior. We can also look at what
hormones could be involved in pair bonding

The Member Of The Democratic National Committee
Dear the respected members of the Democratic National Committee.
As of November 8th, 2016, Donald Trump is the 45th president elect of the United States. As
much as this is a defeat, or victory for a numerous amount of citizens across America ,that is not
exactly what this is about. I m here to say shame on you. If it wasn t already apparent, your
chosen establishment candidate, Hillary Clinton was one painted in scandal, dishonesty, secrecy,
and unpopularity. I can t imagine why you, the democratic establishment, felt it would be wise to
practically ignore the grassroot progressive movement occurring right in front of your eyes. It
wasn t an anomaly, it was a symptom of something much larger. It was a sign that the people of
America wanted something different, as they did in 2008 when they supported President Obama
with the aspirations of Hope and Change . This selfish of choice of yours was a complete betrayal
of the people who have supported you over the decades. It is more than evident that the DNC had a
bit of favoritism in this election process, and that statement alone represents and highlights a
significant amount of irresponsibility. Based on political normalities, winning the presidency after
8 years of that same party holding the office is not an easy task. Propelling a notably unpopular
candidate with well known scandals on her resume was quite frankly an awful decision. it s
apparent that the enthusiasm for Clinton wasn t there, and definitely did not

Blank Verses in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Essay
Epic, Passionate and Poetic. Romeo and Juliet is written in blank verse. This simply means
unrhymed iambic pentameter. For example, Two households, both alike in dignity In fair Verona,
where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes
civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star crossed lovers take
their life. It may seem melodramatic , but it s perfect for the play. Shakespeare makes it work by
the plot actually living up to the hype (Romeo and Juliet Writing Style). It truly entices the heart of
the reader as they empathize with the protagonists universal, unconditional and ideal romance, the
portrayal of perfect, undying love that is captured... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare really stresses in all these scenes the ease in which messages can go wrong
(Huntley). When Romeo finds out about Juliet s death he believes he has all the facts. He
suddenly makes the decision to kill himself, aided by poison. Romeos best speech is perhaps the
one he delivers in the tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans
and executes (Huntley). The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all
throughout music, literature, dance, and theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense
alternation of mood that enliven the speech. Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs
guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the
wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is not this better now than groaning for
love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art thou what thou art, by art as well
as by nature. These words are also said to be the most ironic. Romeo here has not found his
identity and doesn t truly find it except for in those spontaneous moments he shares with Juliet.
Mercutio has plenty dialogue but is commonly known for his passionate repetition of A plague a
both your houses! right before his death. The main concern for the two lovers though is keeping
their marriage secret. They hope to one day bring peace among the feuding families but are
distraught. In Juliet s balcony speech you hear this concern. O

Fashion in the victorian era is described here as a moment of restriction for women and therefore
a reflection of their place in society. Women s ability to perform everyday tasks and engage in

(Stein, 2015) The dramatic growth in this industry has lead to a change in attitudes, with society

A trend has even adapted of women even fitting small procedures, such as botox into their lunch

as just another beauty regime for women, as labelled here, Cosmetic surgery has become the new

women are still enduring pain and suffering to follow the standards set for them to gain social

My Brother Has A Big Impact On Me And My Life

In the early years of my life I had no idea that my brother would make such a big impact on me
and my life. He has taught me more than any teacher possible could. Through him I learned how
to be compassionate. I learned how to treat each and every person with respect, despite what
challenges they may face. He brought me into an amazing community that taught me numerous life
lessons. He challenged me every step of the way, like any brother should, and altered the way I
viewed the world. My brother has autism, and he has been my greatest teacher.
In the early years I didn t understand much of what was going on. I just thought that he was my
twin brother, and like any twins at the time, I thought we were exactly alike. We played games
together and roamed around our driveway on our bikes whenever he wanted to. Lots of times
when I would want to play games he wouldn t want to and would throw a tantrum. I didn t think
much of it and would just go to my sister and we would just play instead. I thought that was
normal. I was under the impression that it was normal for kids like me to spend their whole
afternoons in various waiting rooms for their sibling s therapy. I didn t understand that instead
most people went and played sports or had play dates. By the age of 7 I began to realize that all of
this was not the case.

Hate Crimes Against Gays Essay
In October of 1998, America finally became aware of how deadly discrimination can be. In
Laramie, Wyoming, 21 year old college student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten by two
men and tied to a fence, left for dead. Matthew s murderers set out only to rob him, but ended up
beating him so severely that he never regained consciousness before he died. Why did this happen
in the first place? Simply because Matthew was gay. Matthew s death became a national symbol of
violence against homosexuals, prompting prayer vigils and calls for state and federally supported
hatecrime laws.
Today, America prides itself on being a tolerant country. Through laws and legislation, including

It is true that some of the first cases of HIV and AIDS in America were found in gay males.
However, once the disease was more widely researched, it was discovered that people other than
gays could become infected with the virus, including children, women, and recipients of blood
transfusions. Promiscuity among homosexuals is no more common than among straight people (
Sexual Behaviors Text 2 ). While having multiple partners and sharing needles through drug use are
common causes of AIDS, these things are not exclusive to the gay community.
Many people also believe in a so called Gay Agenda. Among other things, gays are supposedly
trying to convert heterosexuals, especially young children, to the other side. Homosexuals are
allegedly attempting to spread their disease throughout America. The idea that homosexuals recruit
children is based falsely on the idea that a person s sexual orientation is a choice, not a natural state.
Children cannot be turned gay merely by contact with a member of the gay community ( About the
Religious Right ). According to the American Psychological Association, research suggests that the
homosexual orientation is in place very early in the life cycle, possibly even before birth. It is
found in about ten percent of the population, a figure which is surprisingly constant across cultures,

The face of poverty is changing in the United States. When someone mentions that a person is

Some people are born into stable families, so they have m ore opportunities than those that are born

One other thing society canГt do is simply hand out money or food stamps to the families of these
children. Who knows where this money is going or what it is being used for? The food stamps
could be intended to feed a baby, but instead they could be used to buy food or items that a child

Another difference among public and private schools is the curriculum. Public schools must follow
the curriculum that is outlined by the state. The state outlines a curriculum for each subject at each

(Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The curriculums are similar among different states in the hope that if a

ability to set their own curriculum. Private schools might advertise specialized curriculums in order
to entice students (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). For example, private schools that are religiously
affiliated will have religious based classes in addition to their basic curriculum. This is something
that parents need to consider too. Also, private schools determine their own assessments and do not
have to participate in standardized testing. Special education services are another difference between
private and public schools. Public schools follow state and federal guidelines and therefore must
follow the special education laws (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). All students can attend public school

Essay on Settlement of the West
The existence of an area of free land, its continuous recession, and the advance of American
settlement westward explains American development . (PBS n.d.) By saying this Frederick Jackson
Turner helped increase critical thinking about the west and helped historians understand the causes
and affects it produced in the United Statesnow and back then. The settling of the west was a great
significance in the United States culture as well as characteristics. The settlement of the west was a
huge movement after the American Civil War. Greatly due to the fact that in 1862 the Homestead
Act was passed allowing one hundred and sixty acres free to settlers. With innovations and

With the vast amounts of cultivation and trade progressing in the west many settlements managed
to form into permanent towns with the help of steady trade that helped the residents economically.
Trade was supported by the growth of the railroad that helped with the import and export of goods
and animals. In The Significance of the Frontier in American History (shvoong n.d.) Frederick
Turner makes a point in saying that the settlement of the west had created a different race in
America. In that the way of life was different and caused many people to adapt to their surroundings
and mentally perceive lifestyles different than their counterparts on the eastern seaboard. The
settlement of the west laid the foundations for the current day United States. With the diminishing
amounts of Native Americans their way of life and culture was crushed by Americans. Currently
the amounts of remaining people with Native American backgrounds have diminished significantly
because of the past incidents. Settling in the west many times was filled with trial and error, not
all towns being able to progress. Large cities such as Las Vegas, Nevada show the roots of what the
once small town thrived from, this one specifically being from gambling and prostitution. Myths
helped make the west seem more enticing by convincing the common man that he could finally
become the man he has always wanted to be. The settlement of any land is

The Advantages of Color Vision Essay
When we think of color vision, we imagine the variety of colors the human eye can see. Perhaps
people may believe having color vision is a huge benefit for animals as opposed to having
dichromatic or even monochromatic vision. If that would be the case, then why do not all the
animals have color vision? A thought to keep in mind is what is the purpose of seeing colorfor
animals. We will dive deeper into how color visionmay play a role in the lives of animals and
humans. The different groups of animals we will examine are the marine animals, wild Neotropical
monkeys, primates, and humans as well. The first area that will be covered will be animals with
monochromatic vision. We must know what it means to have monochromatic vision before... Show

The heterozygote superiority hypothesis is in question because it states that animals that have
trichromatic vision have a fitness advantage over those that do not (Fedigan 1). This is referring
to animals who have less than three cones of vision. There is a group of wild Neotropical
monkeys that have polymorphic vision. This means the group has members that either have
dichromatic or trichromatic vision. The thought is the trichromatic members can find fruits or
fresh leaves better than those with dichromatic vision because of distinguishable colors of fruit
that can be seen with trichromatic vision (Fedigan 1). This idea fits the heterozygote superiority
hypothesis. At first the hypothesis seemed correct based on a study that used tamarins because
the one with the three cones of vision was able to spot patches of food more easily. The issue
that comes into play is that there is no good evidence for wild populations. Work that was done
on Capuchins to see who had an advantage on feeding based on the type of vision they had. The
result was that neither seemed to have a significant advantage over the other. Because animals are
able to use other senses when foraging for food trichromacy may in fact provide little advantage
(Bunce 1060). More studies were conducted by Linda Fedigan to find out the survival rate of
infants whose mother had either trichromatic or dichromatic vision. The

Nigerian Diaspora And The African Diaspora
I am a part of the Nigerian diaspora, one of the millions of Nigerians living in a foreign nation. I
moved to the United States at the age of 8 and since then, the Nigerian culture I had known and
brought with me has changed and adapted to the dominant culture of the USA. Many Nigerian
families and communities abroad are faced with the same internal struggle of holding onto their
traditional cultural values, while ensuring enough adaptation into the dominant culture. Due to the
diversity of nations Nigerian migrants have settled in, the end result, a hyphenated Nigerian
identity, differs greatly across continents and countries. Through the Frances L. Phillips scholarship,
I would like the opportunity to explore the Nigerian diaspora communities in 6 different Western
Europecountries and how these communities have shifted and adapted due to the dominant culture
in the countries.
I would like to explore the diaspora communities in in Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Austria,
France and Belgium. These six countries are the top European destinations for Nigerian migrants,
excluding the United Kingdom. While in these countries, I hope to discover the changes that have
occurred to surface cultural attributes such as food, and attire. How have traditional Nigerian meals
and dishes been recreated and fused with the popular staples/dishes of the particular country I am
in? Other questions and topics I hope to explore are how is traditional Nigerian fashion integrated

Corruption Of Somalia After World War II
CORRUPTION IN SOMALIA FINAL GRADUATE PAPER Mohammad mohammad Brief
geography and history In the late 1800 s, European colonialism came to Somalia. Especially in
areas away from the coast, they fought in a fierce way. In the end, most of Somalia came to be
under the control of Britain, France or Italy. World War II brought about further fighting in the
region, as Somalia s ocean access is strategic. After World War II, Italy, Britain and USA
remained involved in governing Somalia. In 1960, the Somali Republic was established with a
civilian government. In 1969, Mohamed Barre seized power and became the ruler of Somalia. He
ushered in socialist views of nationalized businesses and cooperative farms. Government positions
in his regime went to clans loyal to him, despite his regime s outwardly anti clan laws. The Cold
War further complicated matters in Somalia. Both the West and the Soviet Union believed the area
to be of strategic importance. Hence weapons and humanitarian and financial aid come into Somalia
from outside governments. CORRUPTION IN SOMALIA As one of the longest running state
collapses, Somalia faces many of the major corruption challenges that affect conflict torn countries,
with widespread corruption and a deeply established patronage system undermining the legitimacy
of the FGS. Corruption is further exacerb ated by the absence of a strong functional

The Ethics Of File Sharing

The Ethics of File Sharing
File sharing is the act of someone making a copy of a file and sending it to another person. The
method of sharing includes Internet peer to peer transfers, but also includes physical CD copies,
emails, and mobile storage devices. Companies are justified in focusing on physical CD sales and
online peer to peer file sharing, as their sales have potential to cause harm. Loss of sales is indeed
what is happening. Consumers need to be more aware of the risks of file sharing. File sharing
increases risks of viruses or loss of personal info. Education on the risks and side effects of file

In Taiwan 1997, music sales hit 12 billion in their country specific currency. That statistic
dropped to 2 billion at 2012 due to the increasing amount of internet usage. (3) On further study
via surveying usage, riskiness, and preferences of media, people told an activity is likely to get
caught doing and has a large fine is 7% likely to continue performing. This statistic is vs 75%
likely to continue performing illegal acts if low risk of getting caught and low fines. (3) Using
this information, increasing estimated risk and increasing actual fines will have a great
reduction in piracy (3). To do that, high schools and colleges need to push the possibilities of
getting caught and the severity of penalties. Education on the risks of file sharing for consumers
can lead to reduction of piracy, and increased safety for users as well. File sharing doesn t just
affect big companies. Single artists and small bands have always strived to get their work out
and hopefully also for sales to continue making work. If consumers knew how businesses
worked and the years of time it takes for a product to become available, then they d be less likely
to steal via pirating. Piracy has protections, Recent research done by the Vienna University of

Executive Summary
Transportation Problem involves distribution of a certain commodity from several origins to a
number of destinations. The aim in the whole process is to minimize the costs involved.
A necessary condition for the solving of the transportation problem is that the problem must be
balanced, i.e the demand for the product at the destinations must equal the capacity of the suppliers.

CHECKING THE OPERATING COSTS FOR LOS ANGELES
Using Solver amp; Excel, when we solve the Transportation problem for the supply from Oil Wells
to the refineries, we get the following Optimal Solution. The Minimum cost is $ 880 Million.
Now, we look at the minimum operating costs incurred when we ship the petroleum from the Oil
Refineries to the Distribution Centres.
Following is the solution:
The Cost incurred after shipping the petroleum to the Distribution Centres is $1570 Million. So,
the minimum cost that Texago Corporation will have to incur when they set up their refinery at
Los Angeles will be 880+1570 i.e. $2450 Million.
OPERATING COSTS FOR GALVESTON
Now, for Galveston the Shipping Costs for transporting Oil from Wells to the Refinery will be $920
Million, as solved in Excel.
Now the Minimum Shipping Costs that will be incurred when transporting Petroleum from
Galveston to the Distribution Centres turns out to be $1630 Million.
The Total Cost that has to be incurred will be $2550 Million.

Higher Learning Essay
The film Higher Learning is a call to action. It is a film that shows people as products of their
environment. The film is set on a college campus, a place where most people learn about what
they will do in their adult life to try to better the world or simply educate themselves in order to
live a better life. However, life on the Columbus campus is not good; it is a battlefield between
the races and sexes. I feel it is a bit exaggerated, but it allows people to see some of the issues that
go on, on a college campus. The film focuses on three freshman (Malik, Kristen, Remy) entering
college. They enter a less than ideal new world that is filled with tension, anxiety and fear. Although

Additionally, Cross, Parham and Helms (1991) cite the broad applicability of this model by
alluding to the fact that several authors in different parts of the country were developing parallel
models independently indicating that African American identity development was essentially
the same across several regions of the United States. The main character, Malik, is a cocky
African American track star that thinks everyone has it easier than him. He feels that the world
owes him something, but almost everyone in it will work to hold him down. Epps has made a
living portraying one type of athlete or another, but this is probably his best work because he
creates a character that can be very accurate and likeable one minute, but totally juvenile and
wildly frustrating the next. He struggles throughout the movie, but like the Fredrick Douglas
quote used here says, without struggle there is no progress. Malik really grows up a lot because
the three main people around him are good influences. Malik Williams (Omar Epps) fits the
traditional athlete type: cocky and arrogant. An urban black male on a partial track scholarship,
Malik is at school to run, not learn. His attitude is that the world owes him, not the other way
around. The reality that he can lose comes as an ego bruising lesson. In one of his most
memorable roles, Laurence Fishburne subtly and cleverly plays Professor Maurice Phipps. Phipps

Columbian Exchange
There were many factors that the Columbian Exchange affected the world. It all began with the
legendary sailor, Christopher Columbus. In the year 1451, Columbus was born in the Republic of
Genoa (Irving 2). King John II of Portugal Hired Christopher Columbus as his merchant marine in
1477. At the time, Portugal was colonizing kingdoms and creating trades with African territories
on the Atlantic coast. In 1480 s, they discovered that the Indian Ocean was on the East side of
Africa. This discovery made a trade route for goods in Asia and goods in Portugal. One day,
Columbus read about the theory that the world is smaller than anticipated (Irving 20), he was
convinced with the idea and tried to convince king for funds to sail west for riches, but
unfortunately, King John II was not convinced with this idea.
In 1492, Ferdinand and Isabella saw the potential of the idea. They decided to fund Columbus
with 3 ships. Santa Maria was the largest ship along with two ships, the Pinta and the Nina.
Christopher Columbus began his journey on the 3rd day of August 1492 from Palos de la
Frontera (Irving 72), a Spanish province of Huelva. On October, an island was spotted. The group
of people that was living on that island were the Tainos. The two parties began trading with each
other. However, Columbus is still gold hungry, so he kept wandering around until the Santa Maria

Essay Use of Ability Grouping
Use of Ability Grouping
How widespread is ability grouping? No reliable national surveys of ability grouping in elementary
schools have been conducted, but a consistent picture emerges from several local studies.
According to the article Ability Group Effects: Instructional, Social, or Institutional?, (Pallas, 1994)
ability grouping for reading instruction appears nearly universal, especially in the early grades.
Schools seek to create teachable groups of children within classes containing a broad range of
skills, from students who independently breeze through children s novels to those who have yet to
learn basic letter sounds. Ability grouping in math is less frequent and only in the upper grades, but
remains rare at the elementary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once students are grouped, they generally stay at that level for their school careers, and the gap
between achievement and levels becomes exaggerated over time. The notion that students
achievement levels at any given time will predict their achievement in the future becomes a self
fulfilling prophecy (Slavin, 1990). Wheelock doesn t dismiss all forms of ability grouping. For
example, a group might be set up within a class to help students who are having difficulty with a
specific skill, or a group might be formed to pre teach a skill to a group of students who might
have difficulty grasping a concept.
Advocates
Those that support ability grouping in schools argue that it is not just gifted and talented students
that benefit from this practice. Although students benefit slightly from ability grouping even when
course content is not altered, they could gain much more when the curriculum is adjusted to suit
their academic needs, according to Mary Ann Swiatek (1997). Swiatek argues, students with
mathematical talented are ready to learn statistics/probability, geometry, and pre algebra long before
those topics are introduced in school. If the advanced material is presented, gifted students will
learn it, thereby boosting their academic achievement. (Swiatek, 1997)
Standardized achievement tests show that gifted

consensual sex varies from state to state. In some states the age of consent is 16 while others

many of them are not mentally prepared. In their article, Enforce Statutory Rape Laws to Curb

The purpose of the chapter is to provide the readers with some background information. Along
with this, it also shows how panic overtook the American communities. The uncertainty of what
the virus was or where it came from caused a paranoia in many cities. The initial reaction was to
quarantine victims and keep them away from the general public. The spread of the epidemic
from northern states to Texas is accredited, according to Wooten, by the mass immigration into
Texas by residents of other states during the oil industry s boom in Texas in the early twentieth
century. This exposed many people to polio as they moved into cities and the coastal area of
Texas became more and more urbanized. The high standards of American hygene made polio a
death threat. The body did not have the ability of fighting a small dose of the disease as new
born did when hygene in the country was not so clean. By not being exposed to the virus the
body did not produce the adequate antibodies to fight it off. When it struck at a later age the body
was defenseless and so the epidemic started. The result of the urbanization of Texas and the many
polio outbreaks helped the area create many hospitals and lead the fight against polio. The book
also highlights the life of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who also suffered of polio. Wooten describes how

Robin Hood Creed Quotes
Robin Hood Essay There is a legend that contains an outlaw named Robin Hood, who is also
mainly known for his skill in archery. In the movie, The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), he
leads a group of people named the Merry Men, who are all outlaws. They fight to steal from the

are all bandits, they are more like knights in the eyes of the Saxons. They follow their own code
that is similar to the Knightly Code. They act upon the creed they swore upon, remembering that
they must defend the weak, grant mercy to enemies, and deal honorably with opponents in battle.
One knightly code that the Merry Men present was defending the weak and helpless. When an
order was given to hang certain people by Prince John, the Merry Men went to each and every
public execution to save each person before they are hanged. The people that were to be hanged
are obviously weak and helpless, but the Merry Men could have cared less. They could have let

Operation Fortitude was the principle deception campaign intended to persuade the enemy that
the expected allied invasion of France would occur at Pas de Calais. A secondary objective was
to convey the impression that the landings in Normandy were merely a divisionary feint, which
could be safely ignored. The task of supplying this information rested with Juan Pujol (agent
Garbo) who was highly regarded by Abwehr (MI5 History, 2016). Operation fortitude became a
textbook example of how strategic deception should be conducted and captured documents

recommended strategy for Southwest to pursue, is to merge with Air Tran and expand into areas
where Air Tran has a heavy presence and Southwest has none. With Southwest having a weak
presence in the southeastern U.S., a key area to expand would be Atlanta s Hartsfield Jackson

C.Due to the competition, in 1851, the New York and Mississippi Valley Telegraph

Is Censorship Good Or Bad
When you have strict censorship of the internet, young students cannot receive a full education.
Their view of the world is imbalanced. There can be no true discussion of the issues (Ai Weiwei).
Simply being said, censorship of any sort is in my opinion the door to an uneducated, and ignorant
society. To look at something that is overflowing with symbolism and good virtues to learn at
adolescence, and then say that it is dangerous and not worth considering just because it doesn t
coincide with the ideologyyou align with, is absolutely a threat to our society, and civilization as
a whole. It is because we have differing views that any human progress has ever occurred. To
simply say that we are a nation of people and not a nation of ideas is... Show more content on

The benefits of censorship are no where in the league of the detrimental effects on government,
economics, and the society as a whole. We can see this in many examples across many examples in
history. Notably, in the 13 colonies of the kingdom of Britain (Later the United Statesof America)
censorship was attempted in use of controlling a population of dissenting citizens unhappy with the
current treatment of the Colonies. Libel laws were often subject to broad interpretations, allowing
for continued restraint, harassment, and persecution of artists, journalists and other intellectual
critics that challenged the contemporary concepts of national security, blasphemy and obscenity
(http://www.beaconforfreedom.org/liste.html?tid=415 art_id=475). And because of this abuse
of libel law, we saw not only a spike in revolutionary thought, but more of a widespread use of
what we refer to as our first amendment rights. More direct outrage in spite of a government that
refused to recognize them as true citizens. Thus, a war had to be fought to show that censorship
is an evil and non pragmatic means of keeping a one track mind and a way silencing those who
differ from you politically or ideologically. And even in Catcher in The Rye, we can see why the

Marx View on Capitalism
1b. Summarize Marx s views on the market, alienation, the labor theory of value, the surplus value,
and the accumulation of capital. Are these views relevant in the 20th century and during the
contemporary globalization? If so, how? How are these views related with Thorstein Veblens
ideas? Please give specific reference to the relevant readings.
Theory of Alienation his analysis of how people are bound to become estranged from themselves
and each other under the conditions of capitalist industrial production (Hooker). This Theory of
Alienation is often considered the philosophical underpinning for his later more technical critique
of capitalism as an economic system (Bramann).

The factory owner has done nothing to earn the money and the $5 per hour he receives is surplus
value , representing exploitation of the worker. Even the tools which the factory owner provided
were, according to Marx, necessarily produced by other workers (Wollstein).
According to the labor theory of value, all profits are the rightful earnings of the workers, and
when they are kept from the workers by capitalists, workers are simply being robbed. Marx
called for the elimination of profits, for workers to seize factories and for the overthrow of the
tyranny of capitalism. Basically out of the worker labor, the companies make far more than what
they paid the workers, while the companies get richer and richer while the workers remain poor
(Mandel).
There are some flaws to the labor theory of value. For example, most workers prefer to be paid
when their work is completed rather than when their products are sold which may be months
later. For workers to be paid now, rather than later, someone must advance their wages, and
clearly this service has a value. But proponents of the labor theory would have it both ways:
workers are to receive the full future value of their product now. The final theoretical failure of
the labor theory of value is the value effort fallacy. It is folly to assume that all effort produces
value. Every day each of us wastes time on fruitless efforts. To equate labor with the

Cuomo s Decision Making Process
Republican Bob McDonnell announced his candidacy for governor of the Commonwealth of
Virginia nearly 14 months ago, and today he announced that he would be resigning his post as
Attorney General of the Commonwealth as of February 20, 2009. Stepping down from his
position as Virginia s Attorney General was a difficult decision, according to McDonnell, and his
decision was based partly upon the tradition of former Attorney Generals seeking higher office
stepping down to keep the Attorney General s office free from politics. He also noted that
campaigning to be Virginia s governor is a full time job in it of itself. Unlike many politicians
nationwide, including Barack Obamaand John McCain, who opt to hold onto their political offices

What are the implications of Cuomo s endorsement, or lack thereof? If Cuomo remains mum, he
runs the risk that voters will view him as weak and unable to take a stand. After all, Cuomo has
experience and expertise. He knows the candidates for Attorney General better than the average
voter. Shouldn t it be incumbent upon him to help his constituents decide upon the important issue
of the upcoming Attorney General who will represent them? On the other hand, if Cuomo
endorses a candidate, it could have great influence upon the election s outcome for the reasons
mentioned above. Also, some voters cast their votes based upon popularity, likability, rather than
upon issues. If they like Cuomo, they might vote for the candidate he endorses solely for that
reason. According to the NY Daily News article, Cuomo s nod particularly if it comes at the
eleventh hour could tip the balance in what is widely expected to be a low turnout election. Mr.
Cuomo, please stay mum. Allow the candidates to represent themselves to the voters. Let them
explain their qualifications and stands on issues. Allow the voters to do what it is their
responsibility to do be informed, know who they are voting for, why they are voting, and cast
sincere, well informed votes. This is the American way; this is democracy. For Cuomo to endorse
an Attorney General candidate now would be part of the politics as usual political game. How
can a voter be sure that the reasons Cuomo endorses someone are reasons that matter to him or
her? If Cuomo s endorsement attracts voters who do not look into or care about the issues, it will
do a great disservice to all of us. We don t want an Attorney General in office mainly because Mr.
Cuomo wants him or her there. We want an AG who will be best for the people, chosen

Racial Discrimination and Hispanics in the United States
Racial discrimination is a term used to describe unfair behavior afflicted on individuals based on
their race (LegalCyberTips, 2007, Para 1). The concept of racism has existed for decades. The act
of one race attempting to exert supremacy over others has often resulted in racial discrimination
(LegalCyberTips, 2007). Racial discrimination is a constant reality in the lives of Hispanic
Americans in the United States. Due to alarming migration rates over the past several decades, the
United States has experienced significant growth in ethnic and racial diversity. However, racial
minority groups like the Hispanics; the largest and fastest growing population in the United States,

Nicolette Cutler, a student of Trinity College and avid Puerto Rico Researcher stated that, despite
the fact that many Puerto Ricans were able to find work in the United States and live better than
they had in Puerto Rico, they could never feel like this was their new home. Faced with racism and
injustice daily, the Puerto Rican population had to face the fact that they were not considered
citizens of the United States. From 1898 until 1917, Puerto Ricans were considered citizens of
nowhere (Para.4).
In the 1970 s Puerto Ricans faced racial redlining practices from vendors which prevented
Hispanics from relocating to better areas. Community vendors believed that if Hispanics moved
into better areas their property and value would decrease (Wilson, 2007). Although the churches
welcomed and provided Hispanics with vital support, most communities were not as welcoming.
Finding a place to live became complicated because most property owners would not rent to
Hispanics. The racial redlining became so extreme that many Hispanic residents curtailed their
movements between work, church, and home, avoiding being out on the streets so as not to
encounter harassment (Wilson, 2007, Para 6).
Racial Discrimination and Hispanics 5
Today, racial redlining has taken many forms; a specific example is the increasingly high insurance
rates for minority groups such as the Hispanics. In 1994, the National

Symbols In Waiting For Godot
The characters are symbolic figures who convey Beckett s message and vision. The major
characters are Vladimir and Estragon. They function as the mouthpiece of anger and irritation, and
through them Beckett gets his message across to the audience. They do not know who they are
and where they are. In this respect, the endless country road is symbolic of endless anguish of
modern man. Godot for them means a certain state of certainty. The idea of waiting means a static
and immobile attitude towards life. They do not take any action, so they can never reach certainty.
As long as, they wait doing nothing, they can never achieve this certainty. They are leading a life of
boredom and frustration. They have no past, no present, and are waiting hopelessly... Show more

The play has a tragic depth, though on the surface meaning it is a comedy of two tramps which
makes us laugh. Their language is also absurd in that it is void of meaning to reflect the
psychological destruction of man. Beckett has portrayed his characters as pair of tramps
representing humanity at large, as aimless. However, they are not characters, but the embodiment
of basic human attitudes. As mentioned before, the play starts on a country road, by a tree where
two old tramps are waiting. The tree is used as a stage image. It may stand for hope, death or
passage of time. The road is also a stage image in that it reflects the aimless figures who have no
definite destination. Time is also significant; hence, it is not definite time. It signifies the spiritual

Literature Review (The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015) points to many sectors
of society including families, communities, schools, medical care providers, and the media as
sources of influence on dietary and physical activity behaviors. In today s society, we are seeing a
trend of major influence coming from many different types of media. An example of this is social
media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Where people will post photos, usually with a filter
to show their target audience that they are happy with their life, and not showing their real
heartache. Another example of influence coming from media is from the Hollywood industry, in

(Barge Schlueter, 2004, p. 237) describes memorable messages as embedded with assumptions
about who can speak, about what and when, through that medium, and with what intent and
these discourses structure a set of obligations and opportunities for relationships and identities.
Knapp states that memorable messages have three different qualities that make a good
memorable message. To start, (Knapp et al., 1981) states that First, memorable messages often
come from someone who is older and of higher status, Most campaigns will use a spokesperson
who is well known to the public; an example of this is a celebrity putting their name towards a
cause. These spokespeople are often the campaign s biggest supporters both financially and
motivational. (Miles A, et. al., 2001) describes that research into adult interventions shows that
those who take part in mass media health campaigns are women from higher socioeconomic
groups who are already engaging in better health practices. Second, memorable messages are
often brief oral injunctions that prescribe rules of conduct for solving a personal problem,
(Knapp et al., 1981). These would be more explicit directives, such as Exercise more and You
should eat smaller portions, such as. Also, we may expect that parents messages will show their
attitudes toward overweight and obesity that imply a rule. For example, if a parent tells their child,

funny, loving 12 year old 7th grader that has many passions including spending quality family time,
playing sports, going out into nature, and trying to make a school team.
When I am feeling down, just taking a walk into nature brings me to my happy place. The fresh
air that gently brushes my face. Or going on a hike listening to the animal s calls. Even just
looking around at the scenery. Mankind s love for nature has always been a great mystery. Some

Essay about Deaf Again
Book Report on Deaf Again The book, Deaf Again, written by Mark Drolsbaugh, is an
autobiography telling his life story which starts with a young boy growing up who goes through
the process of losing his hearing and then, as he gets older, he struggles with trying to fit in as a
normal child. When Mark was very young, he could hear fairly well then gradually he went hard of
hearinguntil he eventually went completely deaf. Even though he had two deaf parents, the doctors
advised speech therapy and hearing aids because they did not understand Deaf Cultureand they
thought that Mark would be a lot happier if he could hang on to his hearing persona. Throughout

could, then his grandfather would cover his mouth and repeat the same sentence, but this time
Mark had no idea what his grandfather was saying. Mark came to the realization that all along he
had been reading people s lips and he never even knew it. After this discovery, Mark s
grandfather took him to all kinds of doctors trying to find a solution to his hearing loss; a
solution that would never come. The doctors told the family, including Mark s deaf parents, not
to use ASL in his presence and they would try to force him to hear. He went through all sorts of
surgeries where the doctors tried to put tubes in his ears and he was also fitted with all different
kinds of hearing aides. None of these solutions were the right ones because Mark still wasn t
able to hear. Mark was always forced into situations where everyone would be talking in group
conversations and having a good, old time while he just sat there pretending like he knew what
was going on. For half of his life, this kind of thing happened constantly where Mark would have
to act like something he is not. A year or so after Mark was diagnosed, it was obvious that Mark
could not survive at Houston School so his grandfather looked around for the best and discovered

Computers and Music

Most people think of computers as mundane tools for completing daily tasks, but they are also a
central part of exciting new technologies for artists including musicians. As computers improve and
become faster and more powerful, they are perpetually becoming more integral to a musician s
work as any instrument. Over the years, musicians have struggled to use the computer as an
integrated tool, as working with audio places huge demands on the machine. This often resulted in
problems such as latency, a time delay from pressing a note on the keyboard to hearing the sound.
This can be quite frustrating during multi track recording. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The use of this technology in the classroom has allowed students to play a song and see it
instantly displayed on the screen. With the new wireless MIDI, students can interact with the
computer via a keyboard from anywhere in the classroom. Today, there are also MIDI
technologies for guitars, violins, saxophones, and even trumpets. A common problem for
musicians today is choosing the right audio interface. There are PCI cards and stand alone
boxes available. One has to choose between USB or firewire ports, and how many inputs and
outputs will be needed. For use with a high quality condenser microphone, the device should
have built in 48 volt phantom power. Another choice concerns the depth and sample rates
available for recording quality. CD quality is 16 bit at 44.1kHz , but much higher rates are
possible. Certain interfaces are fine for single track recording, but others might work better to
record several instruments at the same time (Walker, 2004). Professional musicians use the
computer for a variety of applications. They use the mobility of the laptop to compose songs on
the road in hotel rooms and on tour buses. They use the desktop machines at home to record all or
part of a CD, saving costs substantially. Computers are used live on stage to run backing audio
tracks, light cues, and multimedia shows, among other uses. Musical notation is easy on the
computer and it is now possible to print out sheet music

Effect of Cobalt Based Catalysts on Product Distribution in Fischer Tropsch Synthesis.
Introduction:
Fossil energy sources such as oil, coal, and natural gases are become the major source for the
energy which are formed from died prehistoric plants and animals buried in the layers of land over
a million of years. But there are lot of impacts on the environment by the use of fossil fuels through
combustion resulting in the emission of greenhouse gases. Over the past 20 years three fourths of
human caused emissions came from the burning of fossil fuels.
Crude oil plays an important role in the production of energy and united states consume more
energy from petroleum than from any other sources. In 2014, 19 million barrels of petroleum was
consumed by total U.S. i.e., 35% of all the energy consumed in the United States. Increase in
population, industrialization and demand for energy, oil is diminishing at a faster rate each year.
Therefore, it would cause a fossil fuel supply limitation with large economic impact, and the
environment problems are both driving forces for actions towards a more sustainable energy

  • 2. John Doe Analysis Good Evening Lori Ann, Thank you for the additional response. After reading it, I just wanted to add that I have found in working with my John Doe, tone plays a big role in his learning. We have several other Team Leaders and I have noticed that when John does work for them, they often become frustrated with him or will snap at him if he does forgets or does something incorrectly. Our campus is often a very hectic place and we generally find ourselves running and gunning to make it through the day. As you noted, sometimes while all our folks are excellent leaders, repeating instructions can be slightly overwhelming. To be honest, I think that is why the ended up assigning John Doe to me because of my background in Corporate Security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Virtual Organization Behavior Virtual Organization Characteristics From the definitions of virtual organization/team, it can be summarized that virtual organization /team has four main characteristics which make it different from non virtual organization/team: First, cross line, virtual organization/team is centralized with a few or without department. Business environment change makes a company or organization should be more flexible in doing its activity. When a company should produce a high quality product to meet their consumer needs, they could collaborate with other companies to determine consumer needs. In this case, virtual organization/team has an important role. Second, resources and purpose sharing, virtual organization/team could facilitate someone with innovative idea but has not enough resources. Amazon sells a lot of books but they do not really have the books, they cooperate with other parties who have the books and then sell it via Amazon. Third, geographic dispersion, refer to any physical dispersion of team members, such as different geographic locations or different workplaces at the same geographic location, nationally or internationally. Virtual organization/team could maximize the time difference advantage from its member. • 6. Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad And The Film Apocalypse... Dark, suspenseful, and altogether brutal is what describes Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and the film adaption Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola. A short novella published in 1899, Heart of Darkness centers on the journey taken by the narrator Marlow up the Congo River with a Belgian trading company. Upriver he encounters the mysterious ivory trader, Kurtz and is brought face to face with corruption and despair. Set in the Vietnam War, the film Apocalypse Now follows the central character, U.S. Army special operations officer Captain Benjamin L. Willard, of MACV SOG, on a mission to kill the radical and seemingly psychotic U.S. Army Special Forces Colonel Walter E. Kurtz. Coppola draws on Conrad s characters in order to create Captain Willard and Colonel Kurtz, but in adapting these dynamic characters he changes the internal and external forces both main characters endure.Coppola creates interesting parallels between Willard and Marlow; Marlow s voyage downriver to the heart of Africa and Willard s mission on the Nung River in Vietnam. Both men are on journey s to the darkest of places: journey into self , and the discoveries to be made there. Both are about men confronting fears of failure, insanity, death, and cultural corruption. However, both are also are drastically different at times. Ronald Bogue s article The Heartless Darkness in Apocalypse Now provides a wonderful intake on commonalties and differences in the two works. He notes that by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The History of Windows Ever since the invention of the micro computer, there has been a definitive war between companies competing for their share of the professional and private computer market. There have been hundreds of operating systems produced over the years, most of them were not able to maintain a solid customer base, and became extinct. There are a few, however, that have eclipsed the computer world. There is a definite line between consumers for the three most popular operating systems, UNIX, Macintosh, and Windows. Microsoft, who produced Windows, gained wide public support almost from the beginning, leading to a near monopolization of the computer software industry. Here is a history of the Windows operating system as it was introduced back in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This version was the last to boast 100% backward compatibility with older windows applications. It was based on the new Intel 386 processor, which greatly improved speed and reliability. This version of Windows also first implemented the use of third party device drivers, allowing for more focus on writing applications rather than device drivers. Graphical upgrades included the icon based file manager and program manager, making access to data much easier. The addition of the well known card game solitaire also made its debut in the 3.0 version of Windows. Another big leap for Windows 3.x was that it could run in three different memory modes (Windows Products and Technologies History, 2006). Real mode s only use was for the running of applications built for Windows 2.x. Standard mode was the most common running mode, as it was most compatible with the 286 processor and 1 MB of memory that were in most computers at that time. The last was 386 Enhanced Mode, implemented with all the benefits of standard mode, plus 32 bit addressing and paging for faster memory access. In 386 Enhanced mode, the user could run several MS DOS based programs, each in their own window, at the same time. Third party programming support for the 3.0 version exploded, and application companies all over the world were developing programs compatible with Windows 3.0. Transferability Skills Analysis In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current occupational profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes, work experience and transferable skills. Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily equate to them both becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based upon her/her occupational profile. Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and standardized testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity information and the National Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it pertains to the world of work. Testing materials VRS are qualified to use (if required), usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic abilities, vocational interest, work style and other aptitudinal profiles. • 10. Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe anything irregular, bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and proportions, (Britannica, 2016). Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an Italian painter, can be said almost single handedly to have created the Baroquestyle during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. None other can be more appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his art, was confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian Baroque art. Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every important European artist of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end of the 16th century, art began to break away from the refined and disciplined style of mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation of the Church, and emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be known as the Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces, color, and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost theatrically, inviting the viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found itself needing to influence and rebuild its following; turned its attention to the arts. The Counter Reformation used the arts to appeal as much to the emotions and knowledge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Interest Rates and Other Critical Determinants of... Interest Rates and Other Critical Determinants of Investment Spending in Bangladesh Background Investment, which is a spending devoted to enhancing or maintaining the existing stock of capital in the economy provides goods and services necessary for better standard of living. Moreover, it has greater importance as a policy tool. Policymakers often try to achieve target growth in GDP by influencing the level of investment. They do so by undertaking policies that influence the rate of interests. The underlying assumption is that investment is negatively related with the rate of investment. Historically, economic theories have suggested negative relationship between investment and interest rates. Changes in either nominal or real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To investigate the impact of interest rates on investment spending, we use a simple regression function for the two variables but add several slightly different variables. The starting point of model formulation is; I= f (LR, SR, S, Y, ER)В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В…В… (1) Where, I = Investment LR= Interest rate on loans SR= Interest rate on savings S= Gross Domestic Savings Y= GDP ER= Exchange rate Investment is not a function of interest rate alone. Factors like income, savings, and saving rate along with lending rate are important issues in setting the level of investment. That is why we need to incorporate all of them in the regression function and test the marginal impact of each of them on investment. Accordingly, the estimating equation used in this study is; where, the term e is the stochastic error term that captures the impact of all other variables not included in the model. Model Validation The coefficient , which gives the change in investment due to one unit change in lending rate is expected to be negative. Other slope coefficients ( are expected to have positive values since their associated variables, interest on savings, savings, and income respectively should influence investment positively. The coefficient can take positive or negative values depending on how a rising trend in exchange rates influence the level of domestic saving. The expected impact is determined by the

  • 13. The Evolution Of Monogamy In Mammals The evolution of monogamy in mammals has been challenging to understand for ecologists for many years, because in most cases male mammals are thought to have higher fitness through polygamous mating. One of the principles of evolution is that animals want to maximize their reproductive success, so two animals committing to one another kind of seems counter intuitive. Animals want to pass on their genes to the next generation, and having more offspring means there s a higher chance of survival. When females have long lactation periods or gestation, they are unable to mate during this time, so it would seem to be advantageous for the maleto move on to their next mate. In a biology context, monogamyis when one male mates to one femaleforming an exclusive bond. Research shows that approximately 3 5% of mammals are considered monogamous compared to about 90% of birds and out of a total of 4,000 mammalian species (Munshi South). Birds seem to be extremely monogamous because both male and female birds actively participate in the growth of their hatchlings. The equitable division of the labor gives the male bird more of a reason to stick around (Munshi South). Although most mammals are not monogamous why do some of them exhibit this behavior? We could address this question by looking at different examples of monogamous mammals and what genetic and environmental factors could have influenced this behavior. We can also look at what hormones could be involved in pair bonding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As of November 8th, 2016, Donald Trump is the 45th president elect of the United States. As much as this is a defeat, or victory for a numerous amount of citizens across America ,that is not exactly what this is about. I m here to say shame on you. If it wasn t already apparent, your chosen establishment candidate, Hillary Clinton was one painted in scandal, dishonesty, secrecy, and unpopularity. I can t imagine why you, the democratic establishment, felt it would be wise to practically ignore the grassroot progressive movement occurring right in front of your eyes. It wasn t an anomaly, it was a symptom of something much larger. It was a sign that the people of America wanted something different, as they did in 2008 when they supported President Obama with the aspirations of Hope and Change . This selfish of choice of yours was a complete betrayal of the people who have supported you over the decades. It is more than evident that the DNC had a bit of favoritism in this election process, and that statement alone represents and highlights a significant amount of irresponsibility. Based on political normalities, winning the presidency after 8 years of that same party holding the office is not an easy task. Propelling a notably unpopular candidate with well known scandals on her resume was quite frankly an awful decision. it s apparent that the enthusiasm for Clinton wasn t there, and definitely did not ... When Romeo finds out about Juliet s death he believes he has all the facts. He suddenly makes the decision to kill himself, aided by poison. Romeos best speech is perhaps the one he delivers in the tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans and executes (Huntley). The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all throughout music, literature, dance, and theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense alternation of mood that enliven the speech. Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is not this better now than groaning for love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art thou what thou art, by art as well as by nature. These words are also said to be the most ironic. Romeo here has not found his identity and doesn t truly find it except for in those spontaneous moments he shares with Juliet. Mercutio has plenty dialogue but is commonly known for his passionate repetition of A plague a both your houses! right before his death. The main concern for the two lovers though is keeping their marriage secret. They hope to one day bring peace among the feuding families but are distraught. In Juliet s balcony speech you hear this concern. O ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Promiscuity among homosexuals is no more common than among straight people ( Sexual Behaviors Text 2 ). While having multiple partners and sharing needles through drug use are common causes of AIDS, these things are not exclusive to the gay community. Many people also believe in a so called Gay Agenda. Among other things, gays are supposedly trying to convert heterosexuals, especially young children, to the other side. Homosexuals are allegedly attempting to spread their disease throughout America. The idea that homosexuals recruit children is based falsely on the idea that a person s sexual orientation is a choice, not a natural state. The heterozygote superiority hypothesis is in question because it states that animals that have trichromatic vision have a fitness advantage over those that do not (Fedigan 1). This is referring to animals who have less than three cones of vision. There is a group of wild Neotropical monkeys that have polymorphic vision. This means the group has members that either have dichromatic or trichromatic vision. The thought is the trichromatic members can find fruits or fresh leaves better than those with dichromatic vision because of distinguishable colors of fruit that can be seen with trichromatic vision (Fedigan 1). This idea fits the heterozygote superiority hypothesis. At first the hypothesis seemed correct based on a study that used tamarins because the one with the three cones of vision was able to spot patches of food more easily. The issue that comes into play is that there is no good evidence for wild populations. Work that was done on Capuchins to see who had an advantage on feeding based on the type of vision they had. The result was that neither seemed to have a significant advantage over the other. It all began with the legendary sailor, Christopher Columbus. In the year 1451, Columbus was born in the Republic of Genoa (Irving 2). King John II of Portugal Hired Christopher Columbus as his merchant marine in 1477. At the time, Portugal was colonizing kingdoms and creating trades with African territories on the Atlantic coast. In 1480 s, they discovered that the Indian Ocean was on the East side of Africa. This discovery made a trade route for goods in Asia and goods in Portugal. Once students are grouped, they generally stay at that level for their school careers, and the gap between achievement and levels becomes exaggerated over time. The notion that students achievement levels at any given time will predict their achievement in the future becomes a self fulfilling prophecy (Slavin, 1990). Wheelock doesn t dismiss all forms of ability grouping. For example, a group might be set up within a class to help students who are having difficulty with a specific skill, or a group might be formed to pre teach a skill to a group of students who might have difficulty grasping a concept. Advocates Those that support ability grouping in schools argue that it is not just gifted and talented students that benefit from this practice. Although students benefit slightly from ability grouping even when course content is not altered, they could gain much more when the curriculum is adjusted to suit their academic needs, according to Mary Ann Swiatek (1997). Swiatek argues, students with mathematical talented are ready to learn statistics/probability, geometry, and pre algebra long before those topics are introduced in school. If the advanced material is presented, gifted students will learn it, thereby boosting their academic achievement. (Swiatek, 1997) Standardized achievement tests show that gifted ... In some states the age of consent is 16 while others start at the age of 17. Though many of these teens may be physically ready to engage in sex, many of them are not mentally prepared. The purpose of the chapter is to provide the readers with some background information. Along with this, it also shows how panic overtook the American communities. The uncertainty of what the virus was or where it came from caused a paranoia in many cities. The initial reaction was to quarantine victims and keep them away from the general public. The spread of the epidemic from northern states to Texas is accredited, according to Wooten, by the mass immigration into Texas by residents of other states during the oil industry s boom in Texas in the early twentieth century. This exposed many people to polio as they moved into cities and the coastal area of Texas became more and more urbanized. The high standards of American hygene made polio a death threat. The body did not have the ability of fighting a small dose of the disease as new born did when hygene in the country was not so clean. By not being exposed to the virus the body did not produce the adequate antibodies to fight it off. When it struck at a later age the body was defenseless and so the epidemic started. In the movie, The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), he leads a group of people named the Merry Men, who are all outlaws. They fight to steal from the rich and give the stolen money to the poor and helpless. As the Normans believe that the Merry Men are all bandits, they are more like knights in the eyes of the Saxons. They follow their own code that is similar to the Knightly Code. They act upon the creed they swore upon, remembering that they must defend the weak, grant mercy to enemies, and deal honorably with opponents in battle. One knightly code that the Merry Men present was defending the weak and helpless. When an order was given to hang certain people by Prince John, the Merry Men went to each and every public execution to save each person before they are hanged. The people that were to be hanged are obviously weak and helpless, but the Merry Men could have cared less. The factory owner has done nothing to earn the money and the $5 per hour he receives is surplus value , representing exploitation of the worker. Even the tools which the factory owner provided were, according to Marx, necessarily produced by other workers (Wollstein). According to the labor theory of value, all profits are the rightful earnings of the workers, and when they are kept from the workers by capitalists, workers are simply being robbed. Marx called for the elimination of profits, for workers to seize factories and for the overthrow of the tyranny of capitalism. Basically out of the worker labor, the companies make far more than what they paid the workers, while the companies get richer and richer while the workers remain poor (Mandel). There are some flaws to the labor theory of value. For example, most workers prefer to be paid when their work is completed rather than when their products are sold which may be months later. For workers to be paid now, rather than later, someone must advance their wages, and clearly this service has a value. But proponents of the labor theory would have it both ways: workers are to receive the full future value of their product now. On the other hand, if Cuomo endorses a candidate, it could have great influence upon the election s outcome for the reasons mentioned above. Also, some voters cast their votes based upon popularity, likability, rather than upon issues. If they like Cuomo, they might vote for the candidate he endorses solely for that reason. According to the NY Daily News article, Cuomo s nod particularly if it comes at the eleventh hour could tip the balance in what is widely expected to be a low turnout election. To start, (Knapp et al., 1981) states that First, memorable messages often come from someone who is older and of higher status, Most campaigns will use a spokesperson who is well known to the public; an example of this is a celebrity putting their name towards a cause. When Mark was very young, he could hear fairly well then gradually he went hard of hearinguntil he eventually went completely deaf. Even though he had two deaf parents, the doctors advised speech therapy and hearing aids because they did not understand Deaf Cultureand they thought that Mark would be a lot happier if he could hang on to his hearing persona. Throughout the rest of the book, Mark goes through a lot of stages of trying to fit in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mark s grandfather tested him by saying a sentence and seeing if he could repeat it, which he could, then his grandfather would cover his mouth and repeat the same sentence, but this time Mark had no idea what his grandfather was saying. Mark came to the realization that all along he had been reading people s lips and he never even knew it. After this discovery, Mark s grandfather took him to all kinds of doctors trying to find a solution to his hearing loss; a solution that would never come. The doctors told the family, including Mark s deaf parents, not to use ASL in his presence and they would try to force him to hear. He went through all sorts of surgeries where the doctors tried to put tubes in his ears and he was also fitted with all different kinds of hearing aides. None of these solutions were the right ones because Mark still wasn t able to hear. Mark was always forced into situations where everyone would be talking in group conversations and having a good, old time while he just sat there pretending like he knew what was going on. For half of his life, this kind of thing happened constantly where Mark would have to act like something he is not. A year or so after Mark was diagnosed, it was obvious that Mark could not survive at Houston School so his grandfather looked around for the best and discovered Plymouth Meeting Friends School (PMFS). Mark was afraid that everyone would judge him at a new school, but he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Computers And Music ( Noah Martin, Old Dominion University Computers and Music Noah Martin Old Dominion University December 11, 2015 Most people think of computers as mundane tools for completing daily tasks, but they are also a central part of exciting new technologies for artists including musicians. As computers improve and become faster and more powerful, they are perpetually becoming more integral to a musician s work as any instrument. Over the years, musicians have struggled to use the computer as an integrated tool, as working with audio places huge demands on the machine. This often resulted in problems such as latency, a time delay from pressing a note on the keyboard to hearing the sound. This can be quite frustrating during multi track recording. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of this technology in the classroom has allowed students to play a song and see it instantly displayed on the screen. With the new wireless MIDI, students can interact with the computer via a keyboard from anywhere in the classroom. Today, there are also MIDI technologies for guitars, violins, saxophones, and even trumpets. A common problem for musicians today is choosing the right audio interface. There are PCI cards and stand alone boxes available. One has to choose between USB or firewire ports, and how many inputs and outputs will be needed. For use with a high quality condenser microphone, the device should have built in 48 volt phantom power. Another choice concerns the depth and sample rates available for recording quality. CD quality is 16 bit at 44.1kHz , but much higher rates are possible. Certain interfaces are fine for single track recording, but others might work better to record several instruments at the same time (Walker, 2004). Professional musicians use the computer for a variety of applications. They use the mobility of the laptop to compose songs on the road in hotel rooms and on tour buses. They use the desktop machines at home to record all or part of a CD, saving costs substantially. Computers are used live on stage to run backing audio tracks, light cues, and multimedia shows, among other uses. Musical notation is easy on the computer and it is now possible to print out sheet music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Tropch Synthesis Essay Effect of Cobalt Based Catalysts on Product Distribution in Fischer Tropsch Synthesis. Introduction: Fossil energy sources such as oil, coal, and natural gases are become the major source for the energy which are formed from died prehistoric plants and animals buried in the layers of land over a million of years. But there are lot of impacts on the environment by the use of fossil fuels through combustion resulting in the emission of greenhouse gases. Over the past 20 years three fourths of human caused emissions came from the burning of fossil fuels. Crude oil plays an important role in the production of energy and united states consume more energy from petroleum than from any other sources. In 2014, 19 million barrels of petroleum was consumed by total U.S. i.e., 35% of all the energy consumed in the United States. Increase in population, industrialization and demand for energy, oil is diminishing at a faster rate each year. Therefore, it would cause a fossil fuel supply limitation with large economic impact, and the environment problems are both driving forces for actions towards a more sustainable energy system. In addition, scientists at the Energy Department s National Labs are developing technologies to reduce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... food, cosmetics and medical applications. However, in order to obtain high quality fuels hydrocracking of the wax is needed. Hydrocracking is a selective process, which converts the heavy hydrocarbons into lighter products, for example naphtha, kerosene and diesel oil. In this process C C bond breaking takes place in the presence of hydrogen. The linearity of the FischerTropsch naphtha is a drawback for gasoline production. The octane number of the hydrocracked wax is improved by processes such as isomerization, catalytic reforming, alkylation and oligomerization. The naphtha is therefore better used as feedstock for the petrochemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
