Tectonic Plates Research Paper
The earth is made up of land masses under the crust called tectonic plates. These tectonic plates sit on
the upper mantle and lower crust also known as the lithosphere. Tectonic plates are always moving
because of the magma churning underneath them in convection currents. Because the tectonic plates
are always moving it can cause plates to run into each other which means that one must give way to
the other and slide under this can create mountain ranges as the pressure has to do somewhere, this is
called a subduction zone this usually occurs with one oceanic plate being pushed under a continental
plate. Plates can also slide beside each other and get stuck so pressure builds up and then they will
quickly slide past which can cause very major earthquakes to cities along the plate margins, this is the
main cause of earthquakes this is called sliding plates.

P waves or primary waves are the first waves that a read on a seismograph because P waves travel
faster that S waves. P waves are longitude waves which means that the vibrations are sent out in the
same way as the direction of travel. S waves or Secondary waves are the second reading on a
seismograph as they travel slower. S waves are diverse waves which means that are at a right angle to
the direction of travel. Both waves can be detected close to the earthquake centre but only P waves can
be detected on the other side of earth as P waves can travel through solids and liquids but S waves can

Causes And Failures Of The Crusades
The Crusades were a set of wars between the Catholic Church and Muslims. These wars lasted from
1096 A.D. to 1291. The Crusades are known as successful failures because two of the nine crusades
were successful, the First and Third. On November 27, 1095, Pope Urban II called for a crusade to
help the Byzantine s take back the city of Jerusalem. The First Crusade was led by Raymond of Saint
Gilles, Godfrey of Bouillon, Hugh of Vermandois, and Bohemond of Taranto. From 1096 to 1099, the
Catholics took back Nicea, Jerusalem, Antioch, Edessa, and Tripoli from the Turks. The First Crusade
s goal was to take back the Holy Lands, especially the city of Nicea. The city of Nicea, now modern
day Iznik, Turkey, is fifty five miles, southeast of Constantinople, where the Crusaders are coming
from. After months of fighting, the Seljuk Turks surrendered against the Crusaders, giving Nicea back
to the Catholic Church. After several weeks of war and conflict, Christian knights began to massacre
Jerusalem s Jewish and Muslim population. Christian knights were getting payback for the persecution
of the Christians from the Islamic law. Crusaders split the city of Jerusalem into four small states,
which were called the crusader states . By 1187, the Muslims took over Jerusalem once again, under
their leader, Salah al Din. Though the Muslims took Jerusalem back, the First Crusade was the closest
they saw to success. After conquering Jerusalem faster than expected, many of the

White Servitude and the Growth of Black Slavery in Colonial America

History 7A
Martin Valdez
January 24, 2011
From The Journal of Economical History , Vol. 41, No. 1, author David W. Galenson provides a nine
page article published in March 1981 entitled White Servitude and the Growth of Black Slavery which
I thoroughly read and will present my own analysis.
In a unique approach author David Galenson examines the transition of servants to slaves during the
17th and 18th century of British America. He successfully covers the importance of slavery and the
reason for its high demand. Galenson takes into consideration the demographic conditions and its
differences throughout the West Indies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The article emphasized the need for servants and slaves in order to make substantial growth however
failed to mention where slavery derived from. As wrongful as slavery is it has been installed in our
history for centuries. A reference to Ancient Egypt could have easily been made and just like then it
was used to build a foundation of civilization. Slavery, indenture servants, immigration and planters
all functioned in a cycle, which seemed to work but after long term failed. Planters needed labor to be
done and immigrants wanted a way out from British rule so they sold themselves either into slavery or
as an indenture servant. As an indenture servant they were contracted anywhere from 3 to 7 years and
freed. Slavery on the other hand continued and was instilled into the culture. Galenson explains how
servants at one point were worth more than slaves. Overtime the two flopped and slaves were of
demand and the reason for that was due to cost. Planters realized they could train the slaves to pick up
a trade and replace the indenture servants. This way they would be spending

Japanese Mythology Essay
According to Japanese mythology, the world begins with the birth of seven deities. These seven deities
arise and then pass away in what the Japanese call the, plain of high heaven. After this, five more
couples were born, the last named, Izanagi and Izanami, who were ordered by their peers to
consolidate the earth, which at this point was a chaos of muddy water. Izanagi and Izanami stood on
the bridge of high heaven, thought to be the rainbow, and dipped their jeweled spear in the murky
water below. When pulling the spear out of a piece of mud dropped of the tip and is said to have
formed the island of Onogoro.
Izanagi and Izanami then moved down to the island, built a house and consummated a child. The ...

Susa no wo then produced five males from a string of jewels, which his sister had given to him earlier.
While this was happening Amaterasu Sun Goddess) took her brother sword broke it in three and
crunching these in her mouth, spat out three goddesses. These five males and eight females become to
be known as the ancestors of the highest Japanese nobility.
So excited over his success, Susa no wo became to commit various acts of mischief, and at one point
finally scared his sister, the Sun Goddess. Amaterasu so scared retired herself to a cave on earth, thus
depriving the world of light.
All the gods were in despair. They put together a strategy to get her out of the cave by arousing her
curiosity by a comic dance and a mirror, which finally lured her from the cave. Susa no wo was
punished for what he had down and was banished from heaven, again. Before he finally left he killed
the Goddess of Food, whose limbs are said to have been turned into the seeds of useful plants.
Once out of the heavens, Amaterasu began to pacify the celestial realm. Once concluding this she
turned to the earth, the Islands of Japan. After three absorptive attempts to establish her rule she sends
her grandson Ninigi down with eight of his companions to assume the power on earth. Ninigi
descended to Kyushu and married a beautiful girl there.

The Religious Convictions Of The Greeks
During prehistoric times, the Greeks had outright and unquestionable admiration for their divine
beings. They showed their reverence by putting set up numerous ceremonies and festivals to worship
the divine beings that they adored to guarantee concordance with them. Specifically, the center will be
on the religious convictions of the Greeks, including request to God and present, and also on
celebrations and human expressions, for example, the old Olympic recreations and theater. These parts
of their society made a critical commitment to their personal satisfaction and the subjects will be
analyzed in connection to the twelve Olympian divine beings, and their partners. The old Greeks
practiced a religion that was essentially, a building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Olympian religion is very complex meaning that each god had its purpose to them and they were
loyal to each god by trying to satisfy them in their own way.
The Greek divine beings were depicted as people, which implied that they were not great. That is, the
divine beings committed errors, felt torment, and experienced outrage and had their tempers. The
religion was custom based and had no standard ministries, no progressive framework, and no
blessed/holy content or good code. Numerous researchers accept that the religion and society
comprised of stories told and made due through oral convention, which are the myths that we know
today. In the myths that have made due through the ages, the Greeks utilized the divine beings as a
way to defend anything that they couldn t comprehend or deductively clarify. For instance, when
thunder and lightning tumbled from the sky joined by downpour, it was accepted that Zeus, the divine
force of the sky, was in charge of it.
Furthermore, it was possibly a sign that he was angered with the people for something wrong they did.
In that admiration, the Greeks accepted that Zeus and his Olympian divine beings were of the best
criticalness. Every God had their own sanctuary, and inside these sanctuaries the ministers or
priestesses verified that the tenets of offering were being watched. They

Constitution of India (unlike Article 226) the petitioner has to prove violation of a fundamental right,
and it has been held by the Constitution Bench decision of this Court in Gian Kaur vs. State of Punjab,
1996(2) SCC 648 (vide paragraphs 22 and 23) that the right to life guaranteed by Article 21 of the
Constitution does not include the right to die. Hence the petitioner has not shown violation of any of
her fundamental rights. However, in view of the importance of the issues involved we decided to go
deeper into the merits of the case. 5 5. Notice had been issued by this Court on 16.12.2009 to all the

Bowen Family Systems
Bowen Family System Theory
Introduction
In doing my studies on family/systemic counselling, I found Bowen s theory intriguing. In my work
and everyday life, I witness triangulation on a daily basis, from my own experience, without the
awareness from this module, I was often entwined in triangulation. As a trainee therapist I decided to
write my paper on Bowenian Therapy in order to gain a better understanding and develop my
awareness.
Murray Bowen, M.D. (31 January 1913 9 October 1990) was an American psychiatrist and a professor
in Psychiatry at the Georgetown University. Bowen was among the pioneers of family therapy and
founders of systemic therapy.

Triangles
Triangles are the basic units of systems. They balance between closeness and distance. The third
person or party brings unity and creates continuity in warring situation. The triangle brings stressed
person into a manageable level of operation. This involves true listening and gives a true advice for a
better solution. In it virtually all relationships are shadowed by third parties. For example when a
couple have an argument, afterwards, one of the partners may call their friend to talk about the fight.
The third person helps them reduce their anxiety and take action, or calm their strong emotions and
reflect, and make decision.
People who are more undifferentiated are likely to triangulate others and be triangulated whereas
people who are differentiated cope well with life and relationship stress, and as a result are less likely
to triangulate others or be triangulated.
The Nuclear Family Emotional Process
These are the emotional patterns in a family that continue over generations. This involves a modeling
scenario where a family member models and imitates the behaviour and even the language of his or
her parents. For example, a parent who teaches his or her children to be happy when things are ok and
sad when things are bad shapes the future thinking of those children. Here the parent passes on an
emotional view of the world (the emotional process), which is taught throughout generation

What Is The Difference Between The Wizard Of Oz Book And Book
The adaptation of the text, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum that I watched was the
movie The Wizard of Oz filmed in 1939. The three components that were different were the way it
ended, the violence included, and why the characters were lacking. In the book the way it ends makes
the audience think that OZ is a real place that does exist. There were books that came after this book
which involved Dorothy living in the land of Oz. However, in the movie Dorothy wakes up from a nap
at the end; indicating the whole experience was a dream. Another difference was that the movie didn t
describe how each character became how they were. The book describes how the Scarecrow was made
because the munchkin forgot to give him a brain. The Tinman doesn t have a heart because he was
made up by a tinsmith after getting cut up, but forgot to be made with a heart. The lion was just born
to be cowardly. The last difference is there was much more violence described in the book than in the
movie. In the book it was explained that the tinman was cut to pieces by an axe and that is why he is
now made out of tin. The violence contributes to the story being interpreted in a different way because
if someone were to watch the movie they would think it is a light hearted story meant for fun.
However, I think it is apparent that the book was darker and included more intense topics, including
topics of love and being cut up which is why the characters need to see OZ. Also, reading the

Views on the Vietnam War Expressed in the Films The Ugly...
Film during much of the Vietnam War and the years after usually attempted to push a strong agenda.
Not until later did movies become less biased, especially when talking about Vietnam. The Ugly
American, directed by George Englund, and The Green Berets, directed by John Wayne, are no
exceptions. The Green Berets propose a strong support for the war while The Ugly American tended
to blame the United States for being in an unnecessary war. Nevertheless, while both movies differ
strongly in their views, both tend to convey the horrors of war. The Green Berets was a movie that
continuously encouraged its audience to prolong the Vietnam War. Just as the movie begins, a scene
takes place that sets the stage for the rest of the movie. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the war persuades both the Vietnamese and Americans that fighting has no productivity.
The local Vietnamese explain they do not want Freedom Road because it will bring the Cold War to
Vietnam (Ugly American, The). Having both perspectives allowed the director to influence his
viewers using two concepts. Even Deong rallies against the Americans as the movie continues toward
its inevitable conclusion. He willingly allows the communist protesters to attack MacWhite to try to
stall America s imperialist efforts (Ugly American, The). It appears that nearly every person tried to
condemn the Vietnam War as a burden on everyone. The Ugly American differs from The Green
Berets because it criticizes the Vietnam War rather than sympathizing with it. Although there are many
disparities between the two movies, both agree that war, whether Vietnamese or not, is never
pleasurable. For instance, The Green Berets broke from its morals near the end of the movie. Notably,
Sergeant Petersen dies despite the fact that an observer might think the war then too costly to continue
(Green Berets, The). Even though the creators and producers of The Green Berets wanted their
audience to believe war was just, they also agreed it was costly. Deong s death has a very similar
perspective and again contradicts itself. With Deong s death a viewer may imagine that the hero they
came to know died needlessly (Ugly American, The). Evidently, the makers of

forms of business organizational structure is important to each business owner; before beginning their

autonomy and freedom from vicarious liability of co owners. In a sole proprietorship of the Tinker and
Taylor s Home Security Service, it is difficult to limit one s liability. In a sole proprietorship the owner
of the business is liable for all damages incurred and said owners personal assets are not protected

The sole proprietor and the business are one in the same with regard to liability. The sole
proprietorship is not recognized as a separate entity from its owner; as a consequence, the debts of the
business are deemed to be the personal debts of the owner, and the sole proprietor has unlimited
personal liability for all the debts, contractual obligations, and legal judgments the business incurs

Fashion s Influence On Fashion
When one thinks of a genre they think of a book or a type of music. Genre can be thought of as a
category of art. Fashion is a form of art, artists everyday are creating works that they feel people will
wear and like. Fashion is a huge industry with thousands of designers that makes billions of dollars
per year. Whether people realize it or not, every single person has a sense of style and has their own
taste in clothing. With fashion there are different genres ranging from chic to bohemian to sporty.
Along with different genres of fashion, there are different genres of brands. With these two genres
combined, an examination of the correlation of the brands with the style of fashion will be examined.
The first genre of fashion we are going to examine is a style called chic . Chic is a French word that
means classy. When the word chic crosses my mind, I picture a girl standing in the streets of New
York City dressed up from head to toe looking her finest. Most chic clothes cover the body of the
person wearing them and makes them look a bit classier than others. BB Dakota is a brand that is
considered chic, it is on the lower of the scale of prices of clothes. Most of their clothes have been
seen in top boutiques and in department stores. Celebrities such as Taylor Swift and others have been
seen wearing this brand. It was first founded 30 years ago in Southern California by a French designer.
She limits the buyers of her clothing because she wants them to be unique and

The Origins Of Wine Predate
1 Introduction
The origins of wine predate written records and can be traced back through Antiquity, Medieval period
and Modern Eras where wine played an important part in agriculture and society.
It can be argued that examples of marketing existed during these evolutionary periods as specific
needs (for wine) were identified, created and consumed during royal ceremonies, banquets, for
medicinal purposes and social consumption. Wine held intrinsic value and was produced, distributed,
promoted and consumed by various social classes.
Today, wine continues to play an important role in society from both an economic and social
perspective. Wine was conceived to be a sophisticated product with the level of sophistication varying
based on the value proposition of the brand, market positioning and consumers socio economic status.
The focus of this marketing plan is the iconic Penfolds Grange which is arguably Australia s most
sophisticated domestic wine brand and how it can be strategically positioned to capture greater value
share in the highly competitive domestic and export luxury wine segments.
2. Situation Analysis
It is important to consider market interpretation as a vital component when creating marketing
strategy. Analysis of opportunities, threats and trends lead into solutions, resource allocation, product
placement and market positioning (White et al. 2003).
Consumers possess a requirement to consume. Latest statistics indicate short term growth in retail

Aeneas’ Haunting in Virgil s Aeneid Aeneas
In epic stories the hero is traditionally confronted by supernatural entities that either strive to
encourage or hinder him. In Virgil s Aeneid Aeneas deals with the such supernatural interferences all
of which focus on the goal of Aeneas creating Rome and its people. Throughout the books Aeneas is a
truly haunted individual faced with ghost, gods and even fate itself all of which attempt to prompt and
govern his choices. Aeneas is subjected to the power of these forces as they lead him throughout a
journey to create his fated city, propelling him to victory. Immediately readers are introduced to
Aeneas supernatural plight by Virgil, who states that Juno hates Aeneas. Virgil tells of the story of

She is the opposing force to Juno that attempts to assist Aeneas throughout his journey. Venus saves
Aeneas life throughout the books, first from a losing battle in Troy and give him the weapons
necessary to battle Turnus and create Rome; Here are the gifts I promised, forged to perfection...you
need not hesitate to challenge Laurentines or savage Turnus (VIII. 828 831). She continuously
encourages him and does what she must so he may reach his destiny. Each goddess and a few minor
gods as well play a role throughout the journey of Aeneas and without them the story would have
ended quickly in Troy. With their knowledge of Aeneas fate he became a point of avid interest to
them. Coinciding with the godly interventions of Aeneas journey comes about a spiritual one as well.
With a book filled with war and death it is no surprise that Aeneas is also haunted by ghosts as well.
Foremost is the ghost of Hector who warns Aeneas of the impending fall of Troy and warns him to
escape with his family, gods and some people. It is this warning that rouses Aeneas to find his family
and flee (with some help from Venus). Reaching safety he belatedly realizes his wife is missing, only
to have her ghost appear and tell him it is too late to save her but his journey will bring him to a new
wife in Italy. After much struggle Aeneas reaches Italy and decides to visit his father in the
Underworld, the place of the dead. Aeneas sees

This two separate species may be the result of Natural Selection. Natural Selection is a process when
the environment chooses which trait will best fits the environment. The organism that is a best fit to
the environment has a better chance of survival, and a better chance of passing on its traits. The Desert
Iguana and the Inselberg Iguana are similar but they also have different characteristics. Their skin
color and diet, are just some of the things that are different. The Inselberg Iguana s skin color is darker
than the Desert Iguana. It s darker skin color help it blends in with the Inselberg s rocky terrain,
escaping predators. The darker skin trait is in the Inselberg Lizards genes. The lighter Inselberg
Lizards are dying off because predators can easily spot them and rarely survive to reproduce. Much
less often than the darker skin one. Through time, they eventually became all darker skin and now

when isolation, time, and natural selection may cause a new species to emerge. This type of speciation
often requires geographical isolation of a small population of the species. Sympatric speciation

The Global Flow Of Silver Trade
In the period between the mid sixteenth century to the early eighteenth century, the global flow of
silver had impacted the regions of the world through its value and perception in trade and society. The
utilization and production of silver caused many areas to change into societies that focused on
commerce and the abundance of goods. Similar to the social effects silver trade made, it had also
made many positive economic impacts and changes resulting in the growth of world commerce and
wealth, while also making negative economic impacts because of its prominence in the world.
All the documents explained the social and economic effects of the silver trade from the views of the
English, Spanish, and Chinese and how it affects their own respective region. Since Tokugawa Japan
was a significant and active part in silver production from 1500 to 1750 alongside Spain, a source
from a merchant from this region would help give insight to the effects of the global flow of silver. A
Japanese merchant who partakes in silver trade would further explain if the trade was beneficiary to
the region s social and economic status.
As the global flow of silver continues, societies started to change from their past ideals into societies
that centered on commerce, impacting people s lives greatly as seen in Documents 1, 3, 5, and 6.

The language
What is language?
As North Americans living in the early 21st century, we have been educated about language from the
time we entered school. But much of what we learn about language in schools belongs more to a folk
model than to an analytic model of language. Here are several pervasive aspects of our folk model of
language.
Language is a communication system. It is true that we use language to communicate with others.
However, language is much more than a communication system. The most recent thinking about the
nature of language suggests that language is first and foremost a representational system; a system
which provides us with the symbols we need to model for ourselves, to ourselves, inside our heads,
the universe around us. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
not be there not any beer brewed among Estonians There is no beer brewed among the Estonians.
Furthermore, in some languages, like Spanish and Russian, so called double negatives are the rule,
rather than the exception. Note the Spanish and Russian expressions for I don t see anything.
Spanish: Yo no veo nada. I no see nothing
Russian: Ya ne vizhu nichevo.
These are the normal, indeed the only, way of expressing this in Spanish and Russian. If language
worked like formal logic, Spanish and Russian speakers would be suffering from a permament case of
illogic. Since speakers of Spanish and Russian appear to be normal human beings, we have to
conclude that language does not obey the rules of formal logic.
Thus, the rule against double negatives formulated by Bishop Lowth is not a grammar rule, but rather
a social rule having to do with what he considered to be the acceptable use of English.
Language is pure and unchanging. As a conservative society heavily focused on written, rather than
oral, forms of language, we tend to think that change, in language as in many other things, is bad. A
whole industry of language experts such as Edwin Newman and William Safire regularly rant

Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis
Persepolis is an autobiography of Marjane Satrapi s childhood in her native Iran. She writes about
being a child in Iran through the Iranian revolution and the Iran Iraq war. As Satrapi recounts stories of
her youth, one can observe that the Iran Iraq war and the Iranian revolution are the central events
driving the entire story. When the revolution and war happens, the dynamics of the book change
completely. War creates a sense of unity and nationalism. Marjane shows a large contrast between her
life before and after the war. The war forces her and her family to adapt in ways that they would have
previously never thought possible. This process of adapting to her environment proves to be very
insightful for readers as it gives a very provides a previously unseen perspective. Her community and
family prove to be essential in dealing with the atrocities as they adapt to their environment during the
war.
The Iran Iraq war changes Marjane s family dynamics in a dramatic manner. This causes her family to
begin rely on each other in a ways that are previously unobservable in the text. As the daily comforts
of their wealthy lifestyle disappear and are replaced with perpetual terror, one begins to see Marjane s
family bonding on an entirely new level. Early in the war, Marjane s family begins spending more
time as a unit. This can be seen in the increase in frames ,in the text, depicting her family conversing
in rooms around the house. Her family begins to spend large amount of

The Field Of Information Retrieval And Web Analysis
ABSTRACT
Opinions play a crucial role in the decision making process. Analysis in the field of making decisions
and setting policies has shown that sentiment analysis and Opinion mining has become increasingly
important in the field of Information Retrieval and Web analysis. In the past years, the growth of user
generated data in web forums, social networking sites and other social platforms is tremendous, which
diverts our study towards mining the opinions on web. In this paper, we have presented a novel
methodology to classify the tweets and the complete opinion mining system is explained on the basis
of survey and analysis. A flowchart has been proposed in which the overall picture of classification of
twitter data has been proposed and accuracy of the evaluation strategies by various supervised
learning algorithms has been evaluated. Review data is collected for various product domains from
micro blogging sites like twitter, face book.

Intelligence And Ignorance By Mein Kampf

Literature is interpreted many ways, similar to the people who read the bible and say that it s about
loving your family as well as other people say it s about accepting Jesus into thy heart. Literature can
make someone kinder, but, it may also make some people much more mean. Mein Kampf, a book

With today s technology, We are able to listen to books being read to us while we are; Doing
homework, doing laundry, exercising, or even just relaxing on a hammock. Technology is helping us
further advance our reading skills and can keep us on the edge of our seat when suspense hits. I have
read some books where I am unable to read for some time, and all I could think about is what could
happen, what would happen if it happened and how the characters live would be affected if it does
happen. Reading at a young age can help stimulate a child s mind and help the develop the way that
they think and how fast they can solve a problem. Reading is the future and can help lead us to a
brighter tomorrow. In the article, Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer, Annie Murphy Paul

Halloween Night vs. Prom Night
Halloween Night vs. Prom Night Ghosts, princesses, superheroes, and so many other strange
characters are seen walking around during the night of October 31st, the night known as Halloween.
Halloween is the night most famously known for haunted houses, candy, black cats, witches and
ghosts. For one magical night a year, known as prom, teenagers get to feel and dress like princes and
princesses and to attend their first formal event before becoming an adult. For that night, tiaras, limos,
corsages, tuxedos and evening gowns are all the rage. Both nights are important nights when growing
up, and even though they are so different, they actually have some things in common. Halloween night

Halloween is the one night a year children or teenagers can dress up and act differently. They wear
costumes and get to be a different person or thing for the night. Even though prom is not celebrated on
the same date every year, it is still one night of dressing up. Teenagers get to dress up formally and
also act differently for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has a certain theme that
calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about dressing up, but, the attire
is different for both events. The second point of comparison is that both are a night of social events.
Depending on how each family celebrates Halloween it can be a night for families to go out together
and trick or treat together, or the children can go out with a group of friends to go trick or treating.
Many costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and there are many haunted houses to go
through with friends or family. Prom night is an important social dance event where teenagers in high
school get together with their friends before and after prom. Both boys and girls might get together
before prom to get ready together and then take pictures with friends and family. Before attending the
dance they go out to dinner with their friends and take a limo to the prom venue. Many parties are held
after the prom to continue the night s celebrations.

Does Mistress Overgone Make About Gender And Power In...
Question: What argument does the play make about gender and power in society ?
William Shakespeare s problem play, Measure for Measure presents men in patriarchy as the justified
rulers despite characterizations of erraticism and corruption. The hypocritical and corrupt figure
Angelo, the irrational Claudio, and the deceiving Duke all undermine the central figure Isabella
because of their male superiority . Isabella s agency to protect Claudio, however, affirms her refusal to
conform to biased societal views of women. Even though Isabella is moral in character, she breaks her
modesty and passiveness by confronting Angelo, which presents her in a more masculine way. This
masculine portrayal is ultimately highlighted by the ending of the play, ... Show more content on

The ambiguous ending of the play is an overarching representation of the kind of silence women
receive in society. The Duke s marriage proposal to Isabella, is seen as a way of justice to preserve her
moral reputation and to give her an identity, however, it also represents how much power he holds
over her especially because she is unable to give an answer. This ambiguity and lack of response from
Isabella s part can represent an implied agreement. Isabella is the female character with the most
agency, but in this instance she is vulnerable and powerless. The Duke proclaims, If he be like your
brother, for his sake, give me your hand and say you will be mine, (Act 5, Scene 1). The Duke takes
advantage of his power by proposing to Isabella; he wants something in return for keeping her brother
alive. This is the second time in the play when Isabella is confronted by a powerful and egotistical
male figure. Isabella herself admits to Angelo that, Women are frail... Women? Help, Heaven! Men
their creation man in profiting them. For we are soft as our complexions are, and credulous to false
prints, (Act 2, Scene 4). Isabella recognizes that women are easily deceived and taken advantage of
because they are powerless and inferior to

Personal Choices In Romeo And Juliet
Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet can both be a very hard story to read and interpret. The
characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I
believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main
controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo
and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when
Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the
personal choice that thrived Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the
play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets
Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows
that without destiny Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been
given the opportunity to meet Juliet. Another example of this in Romeo and Juliet is when Juliet finds
out Romeo is of the house of Montague and the nurse says His name is Romeo, and a Montague, THe
only son of your great enemy. This is an example of how destiny had a greater ... Show more content

Country Music Comparison Research Paper
With the main focus of my first music comparison essay being on the country signer Taylor Swift and
the rap artist Eminem, id like to try to compare the two different genres of music instead of comparing
and contrasting two other artists. I will attempt this by explaining the similarities and differences of
the music genre Rap, and the music genre Country by examining the elements of music for each
genre. Along with the elements of music, ill also examine why country music has a fan base that is
much older while most of the Rap listeners are todays youth. To start off, Rap music has always had
the views of being a very rebellious type of music that doesn t always portray the best image. In many
of today s songs, rappers rap about guns, violence, and drugs, which turns a lot of people away.

songs so that they are very easy to relate to and that its not all about the money or cars. I believe that
country music also focuses more on the harmony aspect for the elements of music, which gives it a
more peaceful feel to the songs and something that you can listen to in the car on your way home from

Anti Gun Weapons Should Not Be Banned
Name: Michael Gerhart Many anti gun activists are trying to ban assault weapons. The guns that the
government wants to ban are not in the assault weapon category at all however. According to ****,
True assault weapons will only fire if the trigger is squeezed, and it will automatically fire until the
ammo supply is depleted. True assault weapons are under a heavy ban since 1934 and are not included
in the legislation banning assault weapons. (Caswell) Real assault weapons, like the ones that Caswell

protecting one s family. Irrelevant to crime These types of guns are irrelevant to crime because they do
not make sense to use. Studies show that criminals pick lighter weapons such as pistols and handguns.
(Roberts) Semi automatic and automatic weapons are heavier, bulkier and not easy to conceal during a
crime. Semi automatic rifles are only being banned because of their attachments like bayonets, light,
lasers and other things. When was the last drive by bayoneting? Another good example of why these
guns are irrelevant to crime is that it is hard for someone with a criminal record to get a hold of any
type of gun to begin with so it makes it even harder for them to get the more dangerous guns. During
the Sandy Hook School shooting the gun that was used was a Bushmaster xm15. The anti gun activists

Pre-eclampsia and Complications Associated
Pre eclampsia and complications associated with this condition account for 15% of direct maternal
mortality, 10% of perinatal mortality in Australia (Brennecke, East, Moses, Blangero) and around fifty
thousand maternal deaths a year worldwide. (T. E. T. C. Group, 1995; Vigil De Gracia et al., 2006) It
is estimated that pre eclampsia complicates about 2 8% of pregnancies. (M. T. C. Group, 2002)
Immediate recognition and treatment in the pre hospital setting is important to reduce the risk of
hypertension related injuries (i.e. intracranial haemorrhage) and the progression of pre eclampsia to
eclampsia. Treatment aims are immediate termination of seizures in pregnancy and rapid but safe
lowering of the patient s blood pressure.

The Turn Of The Screw By Henry James

Wood changed his style in 1928 as seen with American Gothic , his masterpiece produced in 1930,
which became a much popular painting in the U.S. It represented a couple of farmers in front of their
house built in the gothic carpenter style. Such painting revealed the influence of German and Dutch
primitive painters regarding the minute treatment of details, notably in the architecture of the farm. It
symbolised the life of pioneers. Wood painted the people and landscapes of the Middle West in an
idealised way, inspired by his personal universe filled with tales and legends thus paying homage to
those people who worked hard without bothering about earning money. Stone City, Iowa was Wood s
first major landscape, painted in the same year as the famous American Gothic. At the height of his
style, Stone City is also the epitome of Wood s dialogue about change that was often threaded through
his traditional subjects. Understood in this tranquil, idealized scene of life in harmony with nature was

The Epidemic Of The United States Essay
The earliest human records attest to the fact that human beings have been using addictive narcotics
since we were hunter gatherers. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, physicians prescribed
drugs like opium, morphine, cocaine and even heroin in the United States. (Crocq 355) Currently,
these substances are either highly regulated or they are outright illegal. The irony here is that the the
largest pharmaceutical companies or Big Pharma as they are better known, are selling the general
public narcotics that are just as addictive and harmful as what the many gangs in the United States are
selling to their customer base. The last statement may sound extreme, however, the third leading cause
of death after heart disease and cancer are prescription drugs both in the United States and in Europe.
(Gotzche 628) Unfortunately, these pharmaceutical companies are not satisfied with just making us
addicts, they are also bankrupting the American consumer and our health care system. The statistics of
deaths and the criminal practices of these pharmaceutical companies are distressing, however, it is not
surprising since their main objective is to maximize profits. First, let us take a look at some of the

When doing a pre trip inspection on his commercial or owner operator truck, the truck driver can fall
into a routine where he quickly glances at the usual areas on his tires that he habitually checks while
not noticing other areas. For example, some drivers only look at the tread while failing to look closely
at the sidewalls for signs of bulges or bubbles. This is a mistake because this kind of tire damage is a
blowout waiting to happen. In no uncertain terms, it is not safe to drive with tire bulges or bubbles.
Change the tire on the spot if you can, otherwise get it repaired at the nearest facility.
To make matters worse, you won t get any warnings while driving because the damage is in the
sidewall, and won t produce any vibration that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

road because you can t be sure if the motorist knows you re there.
However, this rule is still effective in a number of situations such as when you have the right of way at
an intersection, and another vehicle that s stopped at the cross road wants to go through the
intersection. If you can t see her face because it s blocked by the A pillar of her car, then she can t see
you. Slow down and be prepared for her to cut you off if she attempts to cross without seeing you.
Yet another application of this rule is at blind intersections. When you have the right of way and you
see the front end of a car jutting out into the intersection, but you can t see the car s windshield
because it s blocked by hedges, parked trucks, or some other obstruction, then the driver can t see you.
Again, you should slow down and proceed with caution. A similar situation is a car pulling out of a
driveway onto a busy highway. Sometimes the driver is backing out, which means he could be making
a kamikaze move because he feels he has no other

Meaning Of Blessed Be Meaning
I have seen the expression Blessed Be quite often as a way of greeting and/or a farewell, indicating
that the person saying/writing it wishes good fortune upon the person receiving it. I have seen this so
many times that I thought that was exactly what it meant and even more, it was the correct way of
greeting or saying goodbye to other people But through out my research I have learnt and understood
that Blessed Be has a deeper meaning and it is one that we should be mindful when using it.
The true purpose of Blessed Be is a sacred one. It has been used in countless religions to grant the
blessings of the deity onto a person, but not in a general or light hearted way. When we use the term

between 1919 and 1941...
The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s
The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred
because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output fell
dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of directly
stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began many large
industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive industrial
scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the land and
generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another example of
government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA), which
attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These federal
programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the government s
approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation than it was to the
American capitalism style industrialisation of the 1920s. Further, the federal government s

Similarities Between Casey And Goliath
In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and Casey shows
differences and similarities. One of the similarities is that they both faced giants. David faced the
literal giant Goliath. A verse in the Bible says The Philistine army had a hero named Goliath who was
from the town of Gath and was over nine feet tall. Casey s giant was him overcoming his ego. An
example of this is, There was pride in Casey s bearing and a smile on Casey s face. Another similarity
is that they had a goal in mind the entire time. David s goal was to defeat Goliath and bring glory to
God. On the other hand Casey s goal was to win the baseball game. Some examples of this are, You ve

Henry James’ the Turn of the Screw Essay
Henry James The Turn of the Screw is written with one clear and true ending where Miles dies and the
readers are left to guess the rest for themselves. Or is it? Right from the prologue, a reader may
assume that Miles and Douglas are indeed the same person, but when the reader sees, and his little
heart, dispossessed, had stopped. P.403 one dismisses that theory as lost, but it isn t. Perhaps one
ignore the idea because of many unclear allusions to discrepancies. James use of deliberate vagueness
was intended to create a second plausible ending. One may ask, how is it possible that Douglas and
Miles are the same person if Miles died? James described that Miles heart had stopped. But there are

Miles and Douglas, and all it takes is a bit of incentive to connect the two. Douglas clearly cares about
the governess, and maintains personal connection to the story even though it s been sitting in a drawer
for twenty years. Douglas feels attached to the story because he lived the story so many years ago.(as
Miles) Nobody but me, till now, has ever heard. It s quite too horrible. (p. 292) This shows that the
manuscript isn t just a good ghost story for him to tell people because he s never shared it before. He
also finds that Douglas s audience is more perceptive than he appears ready. They make inferences
about he and his love, and Douglas reveals bits and pieces about her. I liked her extremely and am
glad to this day to think she liked me, too. If she hadn t she wouldn t have told me.(p. 293) In the
story, she mentions several times that Miles was the most beautiful boy that she had ever laid eyes on,

Examples Of Non Violent Crimes
By definition non violent crimes are crimes that do not implicate physical harm or use of force upon
another person. The most common of nonviolent crimes are drug trafficking, possession of drugs,
burglary and or larceny. Other cases of non violent crimes are prostitution, bribery, arson and fraud.
At first I was all for early prison release of nonviolent offenders, why should tax payers have to pay
for someone growing or smoking an herb that s legal in other states? But after much research I had a
change of heart. A crime is a crime no matter how small and criminals should be accountable for their
actions.

however it is certainly not victimless. Say you become a victim of identity theft or trust a crooked
investor (Jordan Belfort) and suddenly you lose your home and life savings; though you were not
physically harmed, this could be detrimental to yours and your family s future. Allowing these
offenders to be released early creates a huge incentive for criminals to commit even more crimes. A
large amount(~67%) of non violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, and it s because they
know they will serve a little time and then can go back out into society to do it all over

Compare and Contrast of the Three Faces of Power
Some theorists believe that power is everywhere: not because it embraces everything, but because it
comes from everywhere... power is not an institution, nor a structure, nor possession. It is the name we
give to a complex strategic situation in a particular society. (Foucault, 1990: 93) This is because power
is present in each individual and in every relationship. It is defined as the ability of a group to get
another group to take some form of desired action, usually by consensual power and sometimes by
force. (Holmes, Hughes Julian, 2007) There have been a number of differing views on power over the
many years in which it has been studied. Theorist such as Anthony Gidden in his works on
structuration theory attempts to integrate basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Luke s one dimensional view of power is centred on this concept and in order to develop
understanding as to how power is achieved and maintained within society, an analyses of decision
making in the public arena must be made. It also contests that the group that holds and maintains
power can be determined by looking at who succeeds when there is political conflict. (Lukes,
1974:12) It emphasises the importance of the observed behaviour of those in power and analyses the
effects on the wider community when making decisions (Lukes 1974:25) Lukes spends a lot of time
discussing Dahl s theory of power through his own theory. The power held by a specific group may be
either, overt or covert but the triumph of power is at the point is during the decision making process
and when these decision have been made, especially, those of the controversial nature of ones centred
around the most conflict (Lukes, 1974:13) The one dimensional view of power proposed by Lukes is
the most straightforward of the three dimensions. In a way, it is also the easiest to observe, as the
power structure through decision making is more translucent and has a lot of clear definable features.
The two dimensional view or second face of power discusses the non decision making and how the
group or individual controls what is put on the political agenda. This form of power is power through
agenda setting. The perspective of the

Samurai In Japan Essay
One of the most belligerent and successful samurai warlords, Takeda Shingen, grew up and reigned
over the prefecture where I met my wife 400 years later. The Sengoku Warring State, 1467 to 1603,
was not, as aficionados assume, a world of lasting honor. Loyalties exchanged like yen coins.
Ambitious warlords allowed family members to be kidnapped, and murdering young innocents was
commonplace. An entire ruling clan, the Taira, was dispatched when rival children, spared rather than
extinguished, grew and enacted revenge, finishing off Taira youths. My entry into Japan was accident.
I rolled dice on a job teaching English in a Japanese village of 900 in the mountains that hiccuped
west of Tokyo. I met my future partner, Yumiko, and Japan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

night, one of them a woman. Friends are shocked when I recall the plans I went through to ruin the
competition. Cock blocking, it s called, a parrying of penises. I had never done anything like this
before, but I performed out wooing maneuvers with uncanny success. I stirred one a too strong drink;
watched him cough it back up. I loudly interrupted one s conversation as he was trying to ask Yumiko
for her phone number. I persuaded one away on an extraneous errand. I monopolized Yumiko s time,
danced with her, took shots together. I was aggressive, assertive, territorial. Yumiko was skeptical me

The Treatment Of Pancreatic Transplants
Pancreatic transplants have had a lot of advancements over the last several years to help patients with
Type 1 DM and the complications that arise from the disease. The increasing numbers of people with
diabetes is cause for concern. In some cases diabetes can be prevented but in others its more about
genetics; but with many medical advances patients have a better chance for survival. With
advancements in surgical procedures pancreatic transplants are improving as well as the increased
odds of curing Type 1. When this happens this will decrease the number of other co morbidities like

Diabetes effects all body systems not just the endocrine. All three types can effect and cause damage
to the neurological, renal, and circulatory systems.
There are different treatment options for Type 1 and 2 diabetes that include oral medications, insulin
injections, and insulin pumps(Diabetes and Kidney Disease). Oral medications are the most
commonly used because of their ease of use and usually lowers the hemoglobin A1C effectively but
can at times cause hypoglycemia (glucose levels falling below normal range of values). Oral
medications are also mostly used for Type 2. Insulin is the method of choice in type 1 diabetes
treatment plans. Insulin injections help reproduce the secretions of the pancreas. There are two types
of insulin that is used, long acting and short acting. These help to better manage a person depending
on meal consumption, caloric intake, and carbohydrate intake. Another way to manage type 1 is by an
insulin pump. An insulin pump delivers continuous subcutaneous infusion of insulin (Lemur and
Batuman 210). Only 1 insulin is used in a pump, fasting acting. Also a pump can be programmed to
release different amounts of insulin depending on the time of day to better manage glucose levels
without multiple injections daily.
Diabetes can lead to other co morbidities making the body more difficult to manage and maintain
balance. When this happens a condition called

Filipinos In America Are Not Filipinos
In my visit to my parents house in California, I sit in their kitchen reading an article titled Philippine
President Duterte Says Filipinos in America are Not Filipinos . Angered at the thought and why the
Filipino president would even say that, I stopped and thought ok, that s partly right . It still came out
harsh. My DNA is Filipino and I can t realistically erase my Filipino blood just cause I was born in
America. I am in fact one of many first generation American born from Filipino immigrants. My
experience being Filipino in America has uniquely shaped my understanding of myself as a member of
this group with how I relate to others, recognizing my lack of understanding of Filipino traditions and
cultures and learning more about my roots. In seeing how I fit into history, I ve traced generational
influences back to the push/pull factors of Filipino migration, identify time periods that were
significant and the changing ethnic identity. Poverty, hardships and lack of employment opportunities
are what had pushed Filipinos to migrate to America. The longer they remained was the likelihood of
things staying the same or worse. This was one of the reasons my father, who arrived here at the age
of 30 in 1975, decided migrate to the states. I wouldn t have a good living there , my father replied
then continued to talk about wage comparisons, how much food cost and even how cheap good beer
and cigarettes were. Like my father, people in the Philippines were getting impatient. There was
strong fight and desire for change, but corruption, incompetence, mudslinging and other signs of an
unstable management of a country (Pinoy OFW) had pushed residence to leave the country for a more
economically stable future. A better alternative for Filipinos was to quickly take advantage of the
opportunities for the bountiful jobs in America as working conditions in the Philippines involved
contractualization, age discrimination, high withholding taxes and low minimum wage (Pinoy OFW).
The Education Exchange act of 1948, which was a legislative authorization, promoted immigration
and enabled foreign nurses to spend two years in the United States for study and professional
experience (Bankston III). The

Similarities Between Bend It Like Beckham And Slumdog...
Bend it Like Beckham and Slumdog Millionaire have given me very strong impressions of Indian
people and culture.
Bend it Like Beckham showed me a lot about modern Indian culture, specifically Indians living in
England. In this film, Jess s Sikh family is very religious. Jess s sister; Pinky s wedding was a great
example of modern India. You can see the celebrations, the food and the clothing. You can always see
the family talking to the painting of Guru Nanak/Babaji and their traditional Indian greetings. Their
one goal in life is to have their daughters prepared and ready for marriage. They have expectations to
live up to, so they did not like the idea of Jess playing soccer.

Exploitation of women and children is also shown in this film. Once again, it is something I knew was
there but I didn t realise how bad and how much of it there really is. The blinding scene was definitely
one that stayed in my mind. The fact that somebody would purposely take away somebody s vital
senses, and blind somebody, much less a child, for their own benefit, shocked me to the core. What s
even more scary for me is this is based on what actually happens in India. Turning children into
beggars, making women into prostitutes is a normal regular thing. This shocks me so much because of
my values. To me, children and women deserve to live a normal happy life. For children, they deserve
a happy, loving childhood and to have a great future. I think because I was raised in these
circumstances that I find it difficult to imagine any other child to not have the same benefits. For
women, they should have the same opportunities and lifestyle choices as men. Not to be turned into
what Latika was, somebody forced to get married to somebody she didn t love and be used for sex and
to be a servant for that man. It s simply not

  • 2. Tectonic Plates Research Paper The earth is made up of land masses under the crust called tectonic plates. These tectonic plates sit on the upper mantle and lower crust also known as the lithosphere. Tectonic plates are always moving because of the magma churning underneath them in convection currents. Because the tectonic plates are always moving it can cause plates to run into each other which means that one must give way to the other and slide under this can create mountain ranges as the pressure has to do somewhere, this is called a subduction zone this usually occurs with one oceanic plate being pushed under a continental plate. Plates can also slide beside each other and get stuck so pressure builds up and then they will quickly slide past which can cause very major earthquakes to cities along the plate margins, this is the main cause of earthquakes this is called sliding plates. Diagram 1 (http://www.divediscover.whoi.edu/tectonics/tectonics slide.html) Sliding Plates (refer to Diagram 1) occur when two plates at a margin cannot move past each other easily so the two plates lock against each ... • 3. Causes And Failures Of The Crusades The Crusades were a set of wars between the Catholic Church and Muslims. These wars lasted from 1096 A.D. to 1291. The Crusades are known as successful failures because two of the nine crusades were successful, the First and Third. On November 27, 1095, Pope Urban II called for a crusade to help the Byzantine s take back the city of Jerusalem. The First Crusade was led by Raymond of Saint Gilles, Godfrey of Bouillon, Hugh of Vermandois, and Bohemond of Taranto. From 1096 to 1099, the Catholics took back Nicea, Jerusalem, Antioch, Edessa, and Tripoli from the Turks. The First Crusade s goal was to take back the Holy Lands, especially the city of Nicea. The city of Nicea, now modern day Iznik, Turkey, is fifty five miles, southeast of Constantinople, where the Crusaders are coming from. After months of fighting, the Seljuk Turks surrendered against the Crusaders, giving Nicea back to the Catholic Church. After several weeks of war and conflict, Christian knights began to massacre Jerusalem s Jewish and Muslim population. Christian knights were getting payback for the persecution of the Christians from the Islamic law. Crusaders split the city of Jerusalem into four small states, which were called the crusader states . By 1187, the Muslims took over Jerusalem once again, under their leader, Salah al Din. Though the Muslims took Jerusalem back, the First Crusade was the closest they saw to success. After conquering Jerusalem faster than expected, many of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Galenson provides a nine page article published in March 1981 entitled White Servitude and the Growth of Black Slavery which I thoroughly read and will present my own analysis. In a unique approach author David Galenson examines the transition of servants to slaves during the 17th and 18th century of British America. He successfully covers the importance of slavery and the reason for its high demand. Galenson takes into consideration the demographic conditions and its differences throughout the West Indies, ... The article emphasized the need for servants and slaves in order to make substantial growth however failed to mention where slavery derived from. As wrongful as slavery is it has been installed in our history for centuries. A reference to Ancient Egypt could have easily been made and just like then it was used to build a foundation of civilization. Slavery, indenture servants, immigration and planters all functioned in a cycle, which seemed to work but after long term failed. Planters needed labor to be done and immigrants wanted a way out from British rule so they sold themselves either into slavery or as an indenture servant. As an indenture servant they were contracted anywhere from 3 to 7 years and freed. Slavery on the other hand continued and was instilled into the culture. Galenson explains how servants at one point were worth more than slaves. Overtime the two flopped and slaves were of demand and the reason for that was due to cost. Planters realized they could train the slaves to pick up a trade and replace the indenture servants. This way they would be spending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They showed their reverence by putting set up numerous ceremonies and festivals to worship the divine beings that they adored to guarantee concordance with them. Specifically, the center will be on the religious convictions of the Greeks, including request to God and present, and also on celebrations and human expressions, for example, the old Olympic recreations and theater. These parts of their society made a critical commitment to their personal satisfaction and the subjects will be analyzed in connection to the twelve Olympian divine beings, and their partners. The Olympian religion is very complex meaning that each god had its purpose to them and they were loyal to each god by trying to satisfy them in their own way. The Greek divine beings were depicted as people, which implied that they were not great. That is, the divine beings committed errors, felt torment, and experienced outrage and had their tempers. The religion was custom based and had no standard ministries, no progressive framework, and no blessed/holy content or good code. Numerous researchers accept that the religion and society comprised of stories told and made due through oral convention, which are the myths that we know today. In the myths that have made due through the ages, the Greeks utilized the divine beings as a way to defend anything that they couldn t comprehend or deductively clarify. For instance, when thunder and lightning tumbled from the sky joined by downpour, it was accepted that Zeus, the divine force of the sky, was in charge of it. Furthermore, it was possibly a sign that he was angered with the people for something wrong they did. In that admiration, the Greeks accepted that Zeus and his Olympian divine beings were of the best criticalness. The prayer of the petitioner is that the respondents be directed to stop feeding Aruna, and let her die peacefully. 4. We could have dismissed this petition on the short ground that under Article 32 of the Constitution of India (unlike Article 226) the petitioner has to prove violation of a fundamental right, and it has been held by the Constitution Bench decision of this Court in Gian Kaur vs. State of Punjab, 1996(2) SCC 648 (vide paragraphs 22 and 23) that the right to life guaranteed by Article 21 of the Constitution does not include the right to die. Hence the petitioner has not shown violation of any of her fundamental rights. However, in view of the importance of the issues involved we decided to go deeper into the merits of the case. 5 5. Notice had been issued by this Court on 16.12.2009 to all the respondents in this petition. A counter affidavit was earlier filed on behalf of the respondent nos.3 and 4, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Dean, KEM Hospital by Dr. Amar Ramaji Pazare, Professor and Head in the said hospital, stating in paragraph 6 that Aruna accepts the food in normal course and responds by facial expressions. • 9. Bowen Family Systems Bowen Family System Theory Introduction In doing my studies on family/systemic counselling, I found Bowen s theory intriguing. In my work and everyday life, I witness triangulation on a daily basis, from my own experience, without the awareness from this module, I was often entwined in triangulation. As a trainee therapist I decided to write my paper on Bowenian Therapy in order to gain a better understanding and develop my awareness. Murray Bowen, M.D. (31 January 1913 9 October 1990) was an American psychiatrist and a professor in Psychiatry at the Georgetown University. Bowen was among the pioneers of family therapy and founders of systemic therapy. The family systems theory is a theory introduced by Dr. Murray Bowen that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Triangles Triangles are the basic units of systems. They balance between closeness and distance. The third person or party brings unity and creates continuity in warring situation. The triangle brings stressed person into a manageable level of operation. This involves true listening and gives a true advice for a better solution. In it virtually all relationships are shadowed by third parties. For example when a couple have an argument, afterwards, one of the partners may call their friend to talk about the fight. The third person helps them reduce their anxiety and take action, or calm their strong emotions and reflect, and make decision. People who are more undifferentiated are likely to triangulate others and be triangulated whereas people who are differentiated cope well with life and relationship stress, and as a result are less likely to triangulate others or be triangulated. The Nuclear Family Emotional Process These are the emotional patterns in a family that continue over generations. This involves a modeling scenario where a family member models and imitates the behaviour and even the language of his or her parents. For example, a parent who teaches his or her children to be happy when things are ok and sad when things are bad shapes the future thinking of those children. Here the parent passes on an emotional view of the world (the emotional process), which is taught throughout generation ... Frank Baum that I watched was the movie The Wizard of Oz filmed in 1939. The three components that were different were the way it ended, the violence included, and why the characters were lacking. In the book the way it ends makes the audience think that OZ is a real place that does exist. There were books that came after this book which involved Dorothy living in the land of Oz. However, in the movie Dorothy wakes up from a nap at the end; indicating the whole experience was a dream. Another difference was that the movie didn t describe how each character became how they were. The book describes how the Scarecrow was made because the munchkin forgot to give him a brain. The Tinman doesn t have a heart because he was made up by a tinsmith after getting cut up, but forgot to be made with a heart. The lion was just born to be cowardly. The last difference is there was much more violence described in the book than in the movie. In the book it was explained that the tinman was cut to pieces by an axe and that is why he is now made out of tin. The violence contributes to the story being interpreted in a different way because if someone were to watch the movie they would think it is a light hearted story meant for fun. However, I think it is apparent that the book was darker and included more intense topics, including topics of love and being cut up which is why the characters need to see OZ. Also, reading the ... Not until later did movies become less biased, especially when talking about Vietnam. The Ugly American, directed by George Englund, and The Green Berets, directed by John Wayne, are no exceptions. The Green Berets propose a strong support for the war while The Ugly American tended to blame the United States for being in an unnecessary war. Nevertheless, while both movies differ strongly in their views, both tend to convey the horrors of war. The Green Berets was a movie that continuously encouraged its audience to prolong the Vietnam War. Just as the movie begins, a scene takes place that sets the stage for the rest of the movie. A ... The local Vietnamese explain they do not want Freedom Road because it will bring the Cold War to Vietnam (Ugly American, The). Having both perspectives allowed the director to influence his viewers using two concepts. Even Deong rallies against the Americans as the movie continues toward its inevitable conclusion. He willingly allows the communist protesters to attack MacWhite to try to stall America s imperialist efforts (Ugly American, The). It appears that nearly every person tried to condemn the Vietnam War as a burden on everyone. The Ugly American differs from The Green Berets because it criticizes the Vietnam War rather than sympathizing with it. Although there are many disparities between the two movies, both agree that war, whether Vietnamese or not, is never pleasurable. For instance, The Green Berets broke from its morals near the end of the movie. Notably, Sergeant Petersen dies despite the fact that an observer might think the war then too costly to continue (Green Berets, The). Even though the creators and producers of The Green Berets wanted their audience to believe war was just, they also agreed it was costly. Deong s death has a very similar perspective and again contradicts itself. With Deong s death a viewer may imagine that the hero they came to know died needlessly (Ugly American, The). The Origins Of Wine Predate 1 Introduction The origins of wine predate written records and can be traced back through Antiquity, Medieval period and Modern Eras where wine played an important part in agriculture and society. It can be argued that examples of marketing existed during these evolutionary periods as specific needs (for wine) were identified, created and consumed during royal ceremonies, banquets, for medicinal purposes and social consumption. Wine held intrinsic value and was produced, distributed, promoted and consumed by various social classes. Today, wine continues to play an important role in society from both an economic and social perspective. Wine was conceived to be a sophisticated product with the level of sophistication varying based on the value proposition of the brand, market positioning and consumers socio economic status. The focus of this marketing plan is the iconic Penfolds Grange which is arguably Australia s most sophisticated domestic wine brand and how it can be strategically positioned to capture greater value share in the highly competitive domestic and export luxury wine segments. 2. The Global Flow Of Silver Trade In the period between the mid sixteenth century to the early eighteenth century, the global flow of silver had impacted the regions of the world through its value and perception in trade and society. Similar to the social effects silver trade made, it had also made many positive economic impacts and changes resulting in the growth of world commerce and wealth, while also making negative economic impacts because of its prominence in the world. All the documents explained the social and economic effects of the silver trade from the views of the English, Spanish, and Chinese and how it affects their own respective region. Since Tokugawa Japan was a significant and active part in silver production from 1500 to 1750 alongside Spain, a source from a merchant from this region would help give insight to the effects of the global flow of silver. A Japanese merchant who partakes in silver trade would further explain if the trade was beneficiary to the region s social and economic status. Language is a communication system. It is true that we use language to communicate with others. However, language is much more than a communication system. The most recent thinking about the nature of language suggests that language is first and foremost a representational system; a system which provides us with the symbols we need to model for ourselves, to ourselves, inside our heads, the universe around us. Isabella s agency to protect Claudio, however, affirms her refusal to conform to biased societal views of women. The Duke s marriage proposal to Isabella, is seen as a way of justice to preserve her moral reputation and to give her an identity, however, it also represents how much power he holds over her especially because she is unable to give an answer. This ambiguity and lack of response from Isabella s part can represent an implied agreement. Isabella is the female character with the most agency, but in this instance she is vulnerable and powerless. The characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the personal choice that thrived Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows that without destiny Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been given the opportunity to meet Juliet. Country Music Comparison Research Paper With the main focus of my first music comparison essay being on the country signer Taylor Swift and the rap artist Eminem, id like to try to compare the two different genres of music instead of comparing and contrasting two other artists. I will attempt this by explaining the similarities and differences of the music genre Rap, and the music genre Country by examining the elements of music for each genre. Along with the elements of music, ill also examine why country music has a fan base that is much older while most of the Rap listeners are todays youth. To start off, Rap music has always had the views of being a very rebellious type of music that doesn t always portray the best image. In many of today s songs, rappers rap about guns, violence, and drugs, which turns a lot of people away. However, it also has a way of attracting fans and in some instances the more vulgar and violent a rapper is, the more poplar they are. Aside from the meaning behind the ... Unlike Rap music, country music is more calming and is something that the whole family can listen to without having to worry about explicit words or vulgar stories being portrayed through the lyrics. Another thing that country music artist do a great job at is creating their songs so that they are very easy to relate to and that its not all about the money or cars. I believe that country music also focuses more on the harmony aspect for the elements of music, which gives it a more peaceful feel to the songs and something that you can listen to in the car on your way home from work. However, I also believe that Country music does a wonderful job on telling stories through their songs just like rap music does and the only difference between the two is what the stories are ... Irrelevant to crime These types of guns are irrelevant to crime because they do not make sense to use. Studies show that criminals pick lighter weapons such as pistols and handguns. (Roberts) Semi automatic and automatic weapons are heavier, bulkier and not easy to conceal during a crime. Semi automatic rifles are only being banned because of their attachments like bayonets, light, lasers and other things. When was the last drive by bayoneting? Another good example of why these guns are irrelevant to crime is that it is hard for someone with a criminal record to get a hold of any type of gun to begin with so it makes it even harder for them to get the more dangerous guns. During the Sandy Hook School shooting the gun that was used was a Bushmaster xm15. From being in class talking about the book I seen that there was distinctive comprehension of the book. One that caught my eye, which I had seen many times before, but never knew any thing about, was a painting called Stone City, Iowa , which was created by Grant Wood in 1930. This painting is oil on wood panel and is 30 ¼ X 40 inches. Grant Wood is a famous philosopher who was born in February in the year 1891 in Anamosa, Iowa. At the start of his career he was influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement and then painted in a manner that could be compared to those of John Sloan, Edward Hopper, Edouard Vuillard or Utrillo. Wood changed his style in 1928 as seen with American Gothic , his masterpiece produced in 1930, which became a much popular painting in the U.S. It represented a couple of farmers in front of their house built in the gothic carpenter style. Such painting revealed the influence of German and Dutch primitive painters regarding the minute treatment of details, notably in the architecture of the farm. It symbolised the life of pioneers. Wood painted the people and landscapes of the Middle West in an idealised way, inspired by his personal universe filled with tales and legends thus paying homage to those people who worked hard without bothering about earning money. Stone City, Iowa was Wood s first major landscape, painted in the same year as the famous American Gothic. At the height of his style, Stone City is also the epitome of Wood s dialogue about change that was often threaded through his traditional subjects. Understood in this tranquil, idealized scene of life in harmony with nature was the knowledge that Stone City itself reflected the transitions brought about in a rural community by industrialization. The irony here is that the the largest pharmaceutical companies or Big Pharma as they are better known, are selling the general public narcotics that are just as addictive and harmful as what the many gangs in the United States are selling to their customer base. This was one of the reasons my father, who arrived here at the age of 30 in 1975, decided migrate to the states. I wouldn t have a good living there , my father replied then continued to talk about wage comparisons, how much food cost and even how cheap good beer and cigarettes were. Like my father, people in the Philippines were getting impatient. There was strong fight and desire for change, but corruption, incompetence, mudslinging and other signs of an unstable management of a country (Pinoy OFW) had pushed residence to leave the country for a more economically stable future. • 53. Similarities Between Bend It Like Beckham And Slumdog... Bend it Like Beckham and Slumdog Millionaire have given me very strong impressions of Indian people and culture. Bend it Like Beckham showed me a lot about modern Indian culture, specifically Indians living in England. In this film, Jess s Sikh family is very religious. Jess s sister; Pinky s wedding was a great example of modern India. You can see the celebrations, the food and the clothing. They have expectations to live up to, so they did not like the idea of Jess playing soccer. Jess loves to play soccer. She has a real talent for it and has been playing it for ... Once again, it is something I knew was there but I didn t realise how bad and how much of it there really is. The blinding scene was definitely one that stayed in my mind. The fact that somebody would purposely take away somebody s vital senses, and blind somebody, much less a child, for their own benefit, shocked me to the core. What s even more scary for me is this is based on what actually happens in India. Turning children into beggars, making women into prostitutes is a normal regular thing. This shocks me so much because of my values. To me, children and women deserve to live a normal happy life. For children, they deserve a happy, loving childhood and to have a great future. I think because I was raised in these circumstances that I find it difficult to imagine any other child to not have the same benefits. For women, they should have the same opportunities and lifestyle choices as men. Not to be turned into what Latika was, somebody forced to get married to somebody she didn t love and be used for sex and to be a servant for that man. It s simply not ...
