Benefits Of Hiring Virtual Employees
The Internet has made working from home a reality for employees and has completely changed the
way businesses operate in the modern world. No longer do business owners have to pay for office
space, they can simply meet with their employees virtually and still get business done.
Hiring virtual employees has proven to be very advantageous for many businesses, helping to cut
down on costs and streamline workflow. By widening the hiring pool from local to global allows
employers to select from a range of of talent.
However, with all of the advantages of allowing employees to work virtually, there is no getting
around the fact that managing them can prove to be challenging. This is not to say that you can t
manage your virtual employees successfully, you just need to have to have the knowledge and tools to
do so.
The following tips will help you be able to transition from a traditional management style to working
with virtual employees quickly and effectively.
Create a sense of community
When all of your employees are working from home and possibly live in different states/countries and
time zones, it is easy for everyone to forget that they are part of a team.
Because your virtual team members don t work in the same location, they may not communicate and
collaborate as much as they need to.
In a virtual environment you can still create a sense of community for your employees by creating
opportunities for team members to chat both formally and informally.

Canada is a country that is built on people that emigrated from different parts of the world. The policy
of multiculturalism in Canada was introduced during 1970 s to make sure people don t feel obliged to
get rid of their identity on entry to Canada (Howard, 1998, p. 133). Canada has a long history of how
its immigration policies came to being. Canadian citizenship and began over a hundred years ago with
all manners of racism and legal exclusions. However immigration and citizenship policies have since
changed and somewhat upgraded since then, in 1982 Canadian leaders introduced the charter of rights

The same rules apply to the UK except to the second generation of citizen by descent (Macklin
Crepeau, 2010). As a result Canada s transmission of citizenship by descent is much stricter than the
UK and also different from those of the US (Macklin Crepeau, 2010). At any given time over the past
century, almost 3% of the world s people were living outside of their country of birth, suggesting that
birthright citizenship is the most acquired citizenship method in the world and almost 97% of the
world s population are citizens of the country of their birth (Macklin Crepeau, 2010). Many say that
the rules of birthright citizenship could be under inclusive (for example, a noncitizen who lived in
Canada since he/she was an infant and spent their entire life there is still not a citizen) and some say it
is over inclusive (such as a person born in Chicago to a Canadian mother from Toronto, who never set
foot in Canada is still a citizen). This opens up a debate about the ideal set of citizenship rules but it
also puts an emphasis that there really can t be any perfect set of rules (Macklin Crepeau, 2010).

Let us assume the linear relationship between price and quantity: Qty Sold = 750,000 + [{($.24.5 New
Price)/($24.5 $22.50)} X 250,000] = 750,000 + {($.24.5 New Price) X 125,000}
When price is $20.6, the quantity is 1,242,425 and profit is $101, we come near to break even point.
To sum up, if Superior reduces the price of product 101, its profit will increase significantly to
breakeven.
Q.3 Why Superior Improved Profitability during the period January 1 to June 30, 2005? How useful
was the data in Exhibit 4 for the purpose of this analysis?
From Exhibit 4, we can see that the actual expenses are less than the standard ones, so the reductions
from those expenses lead to the improved profitability.
And the unit Sales of product 102 for period from January to June 2005 increased about 200,000 units
compared to average of last year.
However, we still can not find the exact reasons for the reduction from Exhibit 4.

Why Is Leonardo Da Vinci Considered An Honorable Man
In the dictionary honor is defined as high respect or esteem. I believe that honor is doing something
that helps other people even though it may not benefit them. Leonardo da Vinci was a very honorable
man. He was honorable because his work was truly ground breaking and helped many people but he
did not receive any prestigious awards because in his time they did not have awards for scientific
discoveries. He brought us out of the dark ages and gave us a head start on where we are today. He
was the first person to ever actually start asking questions instead of just following the crowd (
Leonardo da Vinci | Renaissance Man | Scientist ). He, even for the day and age he was living in. had
ideas for tanks, helicopters, solar power and a calculator ( Leonardo da Vinci Biography ). He
possessed a great number of abilities one of which being art but, even more impressive he was an
expert in anatomy, zoology, botany, geology, optics, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics along with a
few other categories this made him very capable of making all the discoveries he did ( Leonardo da

on human record. He also had many theories that caused the science community to notice him. He had

Essay on The Importance of Good Role Models
The Importance of Good Role Models
Charles Barkley stands in a dimly lit gym with a basketball squeezed between his beefy hands. He is
only filming a commercial. Or is he? As he looks squarely into the camera, he declares, I am not a role
model...I am paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court (Smith 1). After he says this, a question
begins to form in the minds of the viewers. Who, then Charles, should be a role model? Now, just
because this is a commercial for a basketball shoe does not mean Charles Barkley does not have a
reply floating around in that shiny bald head of his. He retorts, Parents should be role models. Just
because I dunk a basketball, doesn t mean I should raise your kids (1). Whether many people care ...

That is why it is time for a change. That is why it is time for qualified people and people who want to
be role models to be given a chance to be role models. Athletes such as Charles Barkley have
recognized this need for a change. Dave Winfield, a former major league baseball player with such
teams as the New York Yankees and the former California Angels, recognizes this need for a change.
He believes that athletes should not be the primary role models in a child s life. Instead parents, not
athletes, entertainers or politicians, should claim the position of being a role model (Berlow 31). This
statement not only speaks for itself, but it also poses an interesting question. If athletes themselves
continue to declare themselves ineligible to be a role model, then why do people continually allow
their children to admire these athletes for more than his/her sports abilities? At this point in time, the
parents should know better. Parents would not allow their kids to admire some hoodlum on the street,
but because sports are in a controlled atmosphere, they do not see the dangers in athletes being role
models. As Charles Barkley puts it, There are a million guys in jail who can play ball. Should they be
role models? Of course not (Berlow 35). Yet, many parents do not realize or do not want to admit that
many athletes have a good amount of time on the other side of the law. The big message here is that

Historical Events Throughout Television History Essay

Assignment One: Institutional Essay
Recent and historical events throughout television history have demanded a redefinition of the
medium in contemporary culture. Throughout its history television has predominantly relied upon
industry practices established early in the 1960s, however, the turn of the century has produced such
divergence from these practices that some scholars are defining it as an entirely new era of television.
Lotz, for example, employs the term post network , an indication of televisions separation from earlier
dominant network practices (9). For the most part, Lotz and scholars alike agree that this transition has
stemmed from changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, as
well new introductions to the industry such as the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will agree
with these scholars, arguing that significant changes to the Western television industry has resulted in
a new, distinctive era of television culture.
First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television
development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post
network era (7). Each developing upon the last, the industrial changes which occurred in the earlier
eras had direct effects on the formation of the current post network era.
The network era , which spanned roughly from the early

However, when it comes to the spirit of innovation, it is seem that this rationalized rigidity of roles
and functions form a barrier to carry out the plan on higher level. (Marshall, 1919cite in Maqbool,

the managers and plans and they pay most attention to the operation and the immediate outcome

sudden blizzards and chilling winds. The mountains are the guardians of the west, and their rocky

singing, water gushing, and leaves rustling. Bears wander down from the hills to feed on fish and
splash in the cool streams. Deer prance through fields of tall grasses and yellow wildflowers. Small
birds dart between pine trees and cedar trees, and squirrels curiously scurry around the forest floor. If
you re lucky (and I was), you ll see an antelope grazing on grasses and leaves near the road. The

Greek Dichotomy
The biblical view and the Greek dichotic view of an artist are very different from each other. This
paper will be focusing on explaining the dichotic view of the artist that the Greeks held and the
biblical view on the artist. After discussing both the dichotic view of the Greeks and the biblical view,
this paper will discuss how the biblical view corrects the Greek view. The Greeks held a dichotic view
of the artist (Clevenger et al.). Dichotomy means division into two parts, kinds, etc.; subdivision into
halves or pairs. ( Dichotomy ). According to the video from our module and from what I learned in a

The author, several pages later, says, ...the Bible makes it very plain that God has given them a true
function in his service (Gaebelein 65). Another source backs these statements up, it says, ...the Bible
does not call upon Christians to look down upon the arts. In fact, the arts are imperative when
considered from the biblical mandate that whatever we do should be done to the glory of God
(Solomon and Williams). The same source makes a point to say that art is not worse than other things
humans can do, that it can be used not as God wants us to use it, like other gifts He has given us can
be used incorrectly (Solomon and Williams). The book by Gaebelein helps to support that point by
mentioning when the gold cow was made by Aaron and stating, Like all human endeavor...the arts
may be corrupted and turned into idols...if this happens, the fault is never that of the divine Giver of
our talents but always that of us to whom the arts are entrusted as a stewardship (Gaebelein 66). The

Why Students Should Start Later In School
There are multiple reasons why schools start way too early in the morning. Some reasons are
exhausted students, more time to get ready for teachers and students, etc. These reasons support what
y schools should start later in the day. Waking up early is a challenge for some students. This is mainly
because of huge workloads and getting ready for the school day ahead of them. Students need to rest
or they will not have any good grades in school. This is the same thing for teachers. They have to
grade hundreds of student s tests. That would take a lot of time and make them tired for the school day
ahead of them. If school started earlier than students and teachers would have time to rest more and be

They have to get up at ridiculous times to get to school and setup. The teachers would most likely be
exhausted and would not be efficient during the school day. This would lead to bad lessons and bad
grades. If the school day started later in the day then the teachers would have more time to set up and
come up with better lessons. This would lead to good attitude and be energized. Students usually never
have enough time to finish their daily routine. They have to get up early and go through their whole
routine. After they go through their routine they eat breakfast and they are ready to go. Unfortunately,
that is not how it happens usually happens. Students sometimes do not get to eat their breakfast. This
will result in drowsiness during class and inefficiency. If the school day started later in the day then
students would have more time to get their routine finished and eat breakfast. Also, they might have
enough time to finish assignments. Parents are also affected by this because they have to make lunches
and drive the kids to school. Parents need to wake up early and need to drop their kids off at school.
This can be a huge disadvantage if the parents if they need to wake up early and go to work in the
morning. If the school day was longer the parents would have more time to get their kids ready for
school. Also, they can be energized as well as the

Colonization of America
When the Europeans had discovered America, the possibilities for them were endless. Although
mistakenly discovered, it greatly aroused the curiosity of many European explorers. There were new
opportunities for them to expand, and in more than just one way. Chances to spread religion, boost
their economy, and help themselves politically. As soon as Columbus returned, the pope issued a
decree saying the world itself was an inheritance of Christianity. Spain and Portugal, the two main
Christian powers at the time, set out to spread Christianity all across the world following the Treaty of
Tordesillas in 1494. What better place to start then with the new found land of the Americas. As soon

This created a large amount of wealth, and more and more markets and ports began to appear across
America. A supply had been created and demand followed, creating economic success. Merchants and
their ships increased and carried materials such as cloth and wool between European and American
ports, and an economic boom with a steady population increase to show for it. This pushed
exploration further in all directions, and they now had plenty of reasons to continue expansion. From
the initial dominance of Christianity to the Protestant Reformation, religious cause for navigating
toward America suited both sides. The political causes were justified in the monarchies interest in the
new land, creating a way to expand their control, but eventually leading to war among one another.
Economically, the Europeans benefited extremely well, and for that reason alone gave them a strong
incentive for colonization in America. The three causes all relate with one another, and one cause
relies heavily on another. The Europeans exploration had not expected to encounter such an
opportunity, but with it came the success that eventually laid out the plans of America to be something

The Radical Nature of Social Contract Theorists Essay
Man is increasingly intrigued by human nature and how society functions. Because of this interest,
there is a plethora of concepts surrounding man and his condition. The social contract, an agreement
among individuals where individuals must sacrifice something for protection, is a cornerstone in the
operation of society. Over the years, various social contract theorists have worked to understand the
ties that bind man. Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, and Friedrich Nietzsche, each felt constrained by their
times, and because of this introduced radical concepts surrounding the social contract. Each of the

According to Marx s view of capitalism, every company works to make a profit, because without
profit there is no reason to exist. He said that labor is a commodity that carries an exchange value to
be traded for something else, but questioned how profit is made if commodities exchange in
equilibrium. His answer was that profit is made when workers are exploited, or work part of the time
without pay. Marx believed that if there were no workers there would be no profit and ultimately no
capitalism. The issue is that human suffering, however, is good for business according to Marx. People
are born into a preexisting system, because the economy forces people into social relations and roles,
and because of this, workers truly felt that they would never become free from the capitalist class
unless they had the ability to produce a living. Marx found this to be unjust and felt there should be a
redistribution of wealth. Marx s attack on capitalism, however, angered the bourgeois ruling class
greatly, and his ideologies caused uproar. Marx was accused of overthrowing private property and
capitalism, and leading the proletariat to rebel. He is noted to have caused working class upheavals
and political revolution. Karl Marx s work was a disturbance to society, which is why he

Profile Of A Vietnamese Community
Profile of a Vietnamese community in Southern California
My choice of linguistic community in Southern California is Vietnamese community, which is known
as Little Saigon . This community is mostly located in the city of Westminster and Garden Grove in
Orange County. Vietnamese, as the sixth most popular language in the United States, has more than
1.5 million speakers distributed in several states such as California, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
Vietnamese language has the fifth most speakers in California with more than 1 million speakers
within the states. According to statistics from U.S. Census Bureau in 2010 and 2011, Vietnamese
speakers have increased by nearly 6 times since 1980. The figure below shows the distribution of six
largest Asian groups in California and the Vietnamese makes up 37.3% of the population. The
Vietnamese community grew rapidly and has become one of the largest immigrant communities
during the past four decades. In 1975, Vietnamese began their first wave of migration to the United
States. One important factor is the victory of North Vietnamese in the Vietnam War on April 30th,
1975. The government of South Vietnam lose its battle against the North Vietnam communist forces
and more than 125,000 Vietnamese refugees evacuated to the United States. The mass migration
occurred because large groups of military personnel, soldiers, government officials were evacuated by
the U.S. Navy and air force. Most of the refugees were South Vietnamese

What was the cause(s) of Mrs. Hayes s renal failure?
Acute renal failure occurs quickly over a period of days or weeks with a reduction in GFR and
elevation of BUN, plasma creatinine and crystatin C levels. Oliguria (urine output of lt; 30ml/hr or lt;
400 ml/day) is usually associated with ARF, although urine output may be normal or increased as well.
Fluid is still filtered at the glomerulus but there is an alteration in tubular secretion or reabsorption.
Most types of ARF are reversible if diagnosed and treated early (Perrin, 2009).
Prerenal acute renal failure accounts for 60% of cases of ARF is the most common cause of ARF and
is caused by impaired renal blood flow. The GFR drops because of the decrease in filtration pressure.
Poor perfusion can result from hypovolemia, hemorrhage, renal vasoconstricition, hypotension, or
inadequate cardiac output. This type of renal failure may occur when chronic renal failure exists if a
sudden stress is imposed on already marginally functioning kidneys. If blood volume or blood
pressure and oxygen delivery is not restored, cell injury and acute tubular necrosis or acute interstitial
necrosis may be caused (Perrin, 2009).
Intrarenal acute renal failure accounts for 30% to 40% of the cases of ARF generally results from
acute tubular necrosis due to disturbances within the glomerulus or renal tubules. ATN most often
occurs after surgery but is also associated with sepsis, severe trauma, including severe burns,

John Barry The Great Influenza Rhetorical Analysis
John M. Barry s ///The Great Influenza///, about the 1918 flu epidemic, explains how as well as why
scientists commit to their calling. By the end of the excerpt, Barry, through his words, bases the nature
of scientific research on uncertainty, which requires diligence, risk, and exploration out of exceptional
scientists. Using rhetorical strategies, Barry characterizes scientific research as mysterious and
dangerous, a research done by scientists who are pioneers, in a figurative sense.
Throughout the first few paragraphs, Barry introduces the idea of diligence, which is the scientists
abilities to be careful and persistent in work. In the first few lines of the passage, the author features
repetition, as well as a slight parallel structure; in lines 1 3, when the author is repeating and
comparing certainty and uncertainty , emphasizing the point that certainty and uncertainty are both
equally required within the mind of a scientist; considering the concept that certainty creates strength
and uncertainty creates weakness. Along with this, in line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout lines 23 35, Barry uses an extended metaphor, to relate wilderness exploration to the
uncertainty and mystery of science, which better shows the amount of risk that scientists make to carry
out their experiments and ideas. Within these lines, Barry uses an added rhetorical strategy,
juxtaposition, assisted by repetition, in lines 24 26, repeating the phrase among them , grouped with
the words least ambitious and The best to compare the actions of the most and least ambitious
scientists, as well as the effects of their actions. In lines 40 46, Barry uses repetition with the words
would and if , mimicking the behavior of scientists, emphasizing the uncertainty within the concept of
science. These rhetorical strategies support the effect of risk, an important factor in conquering science

Why Geography Matters More Than Ever By Harm De Blij
Geography is an important factor to consider when you look at this worlds past, present, or future. So
whether it be the earths physical geographic features, the geopolitics stirring up trouble across the
globe, or the economics of growing or shrinking countries; geography plays a major role. In todays
society, geographic knowledge is one of the most important and valuable tools to possess. Without it,
we are victims of ignorance and endanger ourselves, others, and the world. This ignorance, possessed
by many, is posing a great risk of self destruction. The author of Why Geography Matters More Than
Ever , Harm de Blij, makes many strong points on this matter, but occasionally makes unsupported
and unclear statements which tend to stray off topic. Lets get right to the point. There is no such thing

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Multilevel Inverters...
Abstract Multilevel inverter used in variable speed drive system is attracting more attention, due to
various advantages that they offer when compared to standard 3 phase two level drives. For proper
functioning of such systems pulse width modulation (PWM) strategy is of crucial importance. Control
complexity of multilevel inverters increases rapidly with an increase in number of phases and the
number of levels. The inherent low switching frequency in medium voltage industrial drive presents
various challenges. Multilevel inverter topologies are increasingly being used in medium and high
power applications due to their many advantages such as low power dissipation on power switches,

The complete system will consist of two sections; a power circuit and a control circuit. The power
section consists of a power rectifier, filter capacitor, and three phase diode clamped multilevel
inverter. The motor is connected to the multilevel inverter. An ac input voltage is fed to a three phase
diode bridge rectifier, in order to produce dc output voltage across a capacitor filter. A capacitor filter,
removes the ripple contents present in the dc output voltage. The pure dc voltage is applied to the
three phase multilevel inverter through capacitor filter. The multilevel inverter has 24 MOSFET
switches that are controlled in order to generate an ac output voltage from the dc input voltage. The
controlled ac output voltage is fed to the induction motor drive. The motor windings are highly
inductive in nature; they hold electric energy in the form of current. This current needs to be dissipated

Music That Subverts The Standard Form Of Arranging Sounds...
Serialism is style of music that subverts the standard form of arranging sounds produced by musical
instruments and approaches the composition from an almost mathematical standpoint. It can be
described as a compositional strategy in which the composer arranges notes in a particular order based
on the characteristics of a sound such as pitch, duration, amplitude or even timbre, but giving no
preference to each individual characteristic; all aspects of a sound are equal. Once the notes are
arranged the composer uses a pre determined set of rules to arrange them in to a composition. It could
be argued that it originated as a response to composers in the late 19th and early 20th century
struggling to stretch the limits of their capability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This order could be based on properties such as symmetry or pre determined intervals, or even just
instinctive ideas of the way in which notes could relate to one another. This order of notes is called a
tone row; this tone row was then re arranged through a set of rules to form variations known as set
forms or row forms. The basic forms of these rules are retrograde and inversion, arranging the notes in
reverse order (for example B C G becomes G C B) or upside down (for example B C G becomes B Bb
Eb) respectively. Combining these rules is known as retrograde inversion. These new arrangements
could be transposed to provide a larger range of varying row forms with which to form a composition.
Row forms are represented through a system of numbers and letters. The letter indicates the form of
the tone row, P indicating the original or prime form, R indicating the retrograde form and I indicating
inversion, with RI representing retrograde inversion. The number indicates the pitch class in which the
first note of prime and inverted forms of the row is to be played, or the last note of retrograde and
retrograde inverted forms. So for example I2 is an inverted form of P0 that has been transposed two
semi tones up. Through these rules it is possible to see the fundamental idea of serialism, composition
that moves away from the traditional tonal relationships of notes, while creating new relationships
through pitch, order, numbers and intervals. While

Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God
Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God
For thousands of years the idea of God have been questioned and proposed by philosophers, scientists
and scholars alike. Many have argued for and against its existence and it s still a subject of heated
debates in the present day. Since God is a notion about an entity that was never seen or heard from by
anyone, it has been a strenuous struggle to substantiate his existence. Yet, great philosophers have
always found a way to validate the idea of God through their own way of reasoning. The philosophical
discussions about God s existence began with pre modern philosophers such as Plato, Saint Augustine,
and it was further examined by modern philosophers such as Descartes etc. In this essay I ... Show

However much they may lack form, and however great may be their propensity not to exist,
nonetheless some form remains in them so that they do exist in some way.. so this should be enough of
a proof that all good things come from God, since everything that exists whether that which has
understanding, life, and existence or that which has only life and existence, or that which has existence
alone is from God. (Williams, 1993, p.53) In other words all finite things owe their existence to God
and these things in turn must be good, since they are creatures of God. To demonstrate the goodness of
God and its creatures, Augustine stretches the idea of lack of the good. Evil, he believes, is the
privation of the good. Thus, evil is created by the absence of the good and by the absence of God. The
conclusion is all good and powerful God exists.
Another major philosopher Rene Descartes who attempted to prove God s existence wrote a book
titled Meditations, which was composed of six essays, each of which tried to answer different
philosophical questions about self existence, human nature, distinction between body and mind and
about existence of God, etc. The idea of God was so important to Descartes that he devoted an entire
essay to the discussion and substantiating of God s existence. In Meditations, similarly to Augustine,
Descartes begins his evaluation of God by first proving his own existence, because how can he prove
God exists if he

The Importance Of Augustus, The First Emperor Of The Roman...
Throughout the Roman Empire, many new perceptions and strong leaders began to rise to overall
power. These new perceptions and leaders helped build the structure of the history of the world. One
of these resilient leaders was Augustus, who was considered to be the first emperor of the historical
Roman Empire. During his reign as the first emperor, Augustus established many new and fulfilling
virtues. Some of these virtues included the idea of taxation being more reasonable for citizens. He also
implemented the creation of roads and the ultimate revamping of the Roman city. In order to
document his lifetime and role as a Roman leader, Augustus decided to scribe many of his experienced
achievements, successes, and victories. More importantly, he used this subjective inscription to
successfully display his leadership and consultant persona during his reign. Throughout the inscription
of the Res Gestae, Augustus expresses and legitimates his diplomatic authority by describing his many
political successes, social achievements, and military victories to seek the approval of citizens
throughout his reign during the Roman Empire.
During his admired reign, Augustus claimed to have proficiency in many political successes that
ultimately expresses and legitimates his authority. Along with exiling the murderers of his father, he
describes how he undertook many civil and foreign wars by land and sea throughout the world (RG,

College Preparedness Essay
People choose to go to college for a myriad of reasons. Some attend college because of the
expectations of their parents or society. Others go to college because of the increased earning potential
that a college education can provide. Still others decide to go to college to expand their knowledge in
an area of particular interest. William Cory, a 19th Century English schoolmaster said, You go to
school not for knowledge so much as for arts and habits. The arts and habits that Cory proposes that
students are pursuing are certainly things that a student might learn in college. However, I don t think

new intellectual posture and regarding minute points of accuracy. However, it would be a mistake to
believe that a college is the only place one could acquire these habits and self knowledge.
If Cory is correct that students go to a great school to learn the habit of working out what is possible in

college lack those traits. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 39% of students

that many people are delaying their education for various reasons. Some go directly to the work force

The first way that the Nile shaped Egypt is in terms of population distribution. A lot of the population
was in the Delta area. Lower Egypt has more cities than Upper Egypt (Lower Egypt has 10 cities.)
Upper Egypt also has their cities more spread out than Lower Egypt. Not only did the Nile shape

The Powers Of The Mind
INTRODUCTION
We can begin to better understand why and how certain things happen in our lives if we allow
ourselves to take a closer look at thought, thought processes, and our ability as individuals to alter our
thinking processes. The power to make your life happy and successful is found within your own
consciousness, if you re prepared to study the laws of life and apply them. When you make conscious
contact with your own mentality you will set it working in your favor. When you allow this power to
take over your responsibilities, it will oversee the largest and smallest of your affairs, without effort
and mistake.

Most people spend their time on the outer activities of life when in fact they should be maintaining a
reasonable balance between inner consciousness and outer activity.
It isn t difficult to understand the science of mind power. When you are in communication with your
subconscious, when you begin to understand that it is the source of all power, you will begin to
understand that it simply works.
It has always been up to each one of us what we program into our subconscious minds, but once we
become familiar with how the brain works and how we can influence it, it becomes extremely
important that we program it in ways that will be beneficial to us. The thoughts and images we
entertain, as well as the programming we accept from others, all find a place in our subconscious
minds, and either influence or create our personalities. Consequently, we have to reroute our thoughts
in such a manner that the personality of the old person − the other person we used to be − is replaced
with positivity and self assurance.

Me And Earl And The Dying Girl Analysis
Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (hereafter Me and Earl) was the big hit coming out of this year s
Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize. Thus, Me and

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl tells the story of Greg (Thomas Mann), a loner in high school, and his
doomed friendship with Rachel (Olivia Cooke). The awkward Greg only wants to survive high school,
and to accomplish this goal he ingratiates himself with every student in the school. He has no friends,

Claustrophobia and acrophobia are two types of phobias that are usually treated by therapists.
Acrophobia is the situational phobia in which there is a fear of heights. Being on a bridge, in a tall

Prior treatments for acrophobia would make the patients confront their fear. Acrophobes would be
treated by gradually riding a glass elevator floor by floor or by standing on high balconies, going to a
higher floor every other time over and over until they feel comfortable with the situation. Now and

Virtual reality therapy is being widely used at present time. It is so widely used that is has become
very cost effective. Treatment for acrophobia takes place in the doctor s office and no longer requires
taking trips to tall buildings or bridges. Virtual reality therapy requires the phobic sufferer to wear a

relationship and interactions between Thelma and himself. Throughout the treatment, he used a variety
of helping skills and approaches to attempt to breakthrough her within six months. Thelma s reason
for coming into therapy was that she was emotionally distressed based on a past experience. She
perceived to be hopelessly in love with an old therapist of hers, Matthew. This love was more than an
emotion felt and since it was not reciprocated, it was merely an obsession of the twenty seven days she

beautiful piece of work explores the relationship between people and media. She redefines a place in
society, creating an artistic visual through handmade vessels. In this journey, you will see connections
with the past and hope for the future.
Outside the Jacobsen Gallery which features the LIFT exhibition, are photos of a sculpture called The
Harp created by August Savage (a native of Green Cove Springs, Florida) in 1939 for the New York
World s Fair. Approximately 16 feet tall, Savage s sculpture, titled The Harp, was strongly influenced
by James Weldon Johnson s song, Lift Ev ry Voice and Sing.
The personified instrument, using twelve African American youth singers in various heights
symbolized the strings of the harp. The hand of God formed the sounding board, and the foot pedal
was represented by a kneeling man holding music. The sculpture was celebrated as one of Savage s
major works; however, with a lack of finances to cast it into bronze, the sculpture was destroyed at the
end of the Fair.
Despite the fact that The Harp does not exist in its final form, its legacy continues through numerous
photographs and souvenir reproductions. I was really impressed with the sculpture and the history of

Embryology of anorectal malformations
The hindgut develops into the distal third of the transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon,
rectum, and the upper part of the anal canal. The endoderm of the hindgut also forms the lining of the
bladder and urethra . The terminal part of the hindgut contributes to the posterior region of the cloaca,
the primitive anorectal canal; the allantois merges into the anterior portion, the primitive urogenital
sinus Figure 1(Sadler, 2011). The cloaca is a cavity lined by endoderm and ventrally covered by
surface ectoderm. The boundary lying between the endoderm and the ectoderm forms the cloacal
membrane. A layer of mesoderm called the urorectal septum,

The Effects Of Cognitive Deficits On Children
Children in institutional care such as foster care or adoption are at a heightened risk for poor
psychosocial outcomes. These risks include psychopathology, substance abuse, juvenile delinquency,
academic failure and problems with peers. Their poor performance may result from their experiences
of either maltreatment or abuse. Given that this population of children has poor long term outcomes,
their deficits in cognitive functioning will assist in the development of more suitable interventions and
psychotherapeutic treatment services. This study examined deficits in memory using a sample of 5 to
12 year old maltreated foster/adoption children (n=20) and a comparison group of same aged,
nonmaltreated children living with their biological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this is a huge problem in the legal system, there has been a huge debate on whether or not the
reports of recovering memories of abuse can be authentic, since human memory is susceptible to
distortion. These types of memories can either help or hurt people in the system for example
prosecuting an innocent person who was accused of being an abuser. However, very few studies have
been done on the population of at risk children such as those in foster care or adoption. Children in
foster care and adoption are a unique group that deserves research recognition. This population of
children faces a long term life of consequences because of the maltreatment, abuse and neglect. The
importance of being able to understand what child maltreatment and neglect is crucial because of the
danger it can cause a child. Child maltreatment is an urgent public health problem for many reasons.
This paper expects to investigate the negative effects of early maltreatment/abuse on social and
psychological functioning.

Emotion Understanding and Theory of Mind
At risk children such as maltreated and abused children are at a higher risk of poor psychosocial
outcomes such as substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, academic failure, and future problems with
peer relations (Pears Fisher, 2005). This study looked at the deficits in memory abilities among abused
and maltreated children and suggested that being in foster care was

Argumentative Essay On Takoma
Annys Shins in the article Takoma Park 16 year old savors his history making moment at the polls
talks about a valuable privilege that was given to 350 teenagers between the ages of 16 17 of Takoma
city the privilege cast their vote in the cities first effort to have teens become more politically
involved.Takoma city is the first city in the nation to lower the voting age from 18 to 16 and they are
excited to see the turn out. Ben Miller is one of the 350 teenagers who was giving the opportunity to
vote and he states, He is excited of the opportunity. The turnout is so low, even a small amount can
make a difference. Although not everyone on Takoma city s council supported the change many teens

Tim Male had one question in mind How do we get more people to vote? and introduced the proposal.
By trying to lower the age I believe Miller wanted to catch the attention of teenagers in the hope that
they would want to vote but forgot that not many teens come from a home that is politically involved
so this was something new but not something exciting. For example in the article Ben Miller states the
he has no burning issues motivating him, not even the legalization of marijuana and he even
accompanied his mother to a recent candidate forum and was asked if he would ve gone on his own
and his answer was No Way! . Previously Ben Miller stated that being apart of the small group of
teenagers was a valuable privilege to vote it goes to show that the opportunity is great but that there is
no genuine interest to voting. Fred Schultz later states that the result won t be with time time and
effort Takoma city devoted to the age voting issue and it will not achieve the goal of wanting to
engage young voters in

The Life and Work of Carl Warren
Carl Warren was appointed the 14th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1953. Warren was
appointed to take the place of the current Chief Justice Fred Vinson who died suddenly of a heart
attack. So, Warren immediately began his term in the Supreme Court and did not get Senate approval
with March 1, 1954 on a simple voice vote of the full Senate without any of the typical confirmation
hearings by the Senate Judiciary Committee, This approval process was very noncontroversial and
without any of the detailed reviews that a Supreme Court appointment would typically face.4 Warren
became a very controversial Supreme Court Justice after the Senate did little to review how he might
act as a Supreme Court Justice. This may have changed how much review future Supreme Court
appointments would get from the Senate. Carl Warren was an average student in college with no
experience as a judge before he became a very active leader of the Supreme Court, making many
controversial decisions for the times. His leadership and decisions still impact our lives today. He was
appointed by President Eisenhower mostly because Eisenhower thought Warren was a middle of the
road Republican (like Eisenhower) and because Warren was a Catholic Eisenhower wanted to appeal
to the Northeastern USA catholic voters. Also, during the Republican Party presidential nominating
convention of 1952, Warren, then the Governor of California and a potential rival to Eisenhower for
the office of President of

Underage Crimes And Charges For Juvenile Crime
Underage Charges
Juvenile crimes are an ongoing serious epidemic all over the world that s been increasing at a steady
pace. Many juveniles have committed crimes, that leads us to a variety of different perspectives on
this strong controversial topic. Which brings up the question should individuals under the age of 16
charged with felonies be tried as adults. In society today, they are indecisive over this subject. They
shouldn t be charged because of different factors that affects the minor s environment such as age and
maturity levels, psychological issues, and lifetime effects. Adolescents should be accountable for their
action and face any consequences that comes along with the crime they committed. Judges
contemplate that the minors need to understand that it won t be tolerated and any perpetrators caught
in any allegations will be prosecuted and arraigned in court. They believe if they break the law they
should have the responsibility for their actions to the full extent of the law. That they are not above the
law and age shouldn t be a reason why they should be taken leniently and should receive severe
punishments for their conduct. Emphasizing on the criminal act itself and not the delinquents age. To
them what matters most is for justice to be served and the form of punishment used. That they should
not be given special treatment for the crime. This is not the correct process of trying to fix this issue.
Yes, they have the right to fair trial by jury, but should

doesn t need as much land to mass produce as regular sugar because it is made from a sweetener that

Implementing Compulsory Voting in Canada Essay example
A compulsory voting system similar to the one used in Australia is not a system Canada should
implement. Compulsory voting in the context of a democratic society can be a misleading term
(Lever, 2010). Canada practices the secret ballot process in voting, and so it is impossible to verify if
someone has cast a legally valid ballot. If countries have a singular goal of simply increasing voter
turnout, compulsory voting could remedy this problem and it should be more accurately defined as
being compulsory voter turnout (Lever, 2010). The belief that compulsory voting inherently improves
democracy is misleading (Lever, 2010). Canada should not force its citizen s to vote because other
then increasing voter turnout, compulsory voting would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implementing a similar system in Canada would be difficult and problematic because Canadian
citizens have become accustom to a system of individualized rights and freedoms. The Right to Not
Vote:
Abstaining from alienation occurs when a voter s utility for [their] favorite candidate fails to exceed a
certain positive threshold (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1023). An alienated voter is someone who with distinct
purpose of mind avoids voting for the purpose of showing discontent often for unqualified candidates
(Blomberg, 1995). Implementing compulsory voting would force these already alienated voters to
vote regardless if they disagree with all the candidates involved and those candidates platforms or
beliefs. High rates of non voting citizens exercising their right to not vote may also lure highly
qualified individuals to run for public office (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1024 25). A return of qualified
individuals would increase the alienated voter turnout, which would supersede the need for a
compulsory vote. Some in favor of compulsory voting suggest that if people are dissatisfied with the
candidate options that they can provide a write in vote, meaning they put the name of someone they
wish to vote for on the ballot themselves. However, the problem with a write in vote is that you are not
included in the percentage of nonvoters (Bloomberg, 1995). The percentage of nonvoters can be
important data because it can be an indication to the political community, and may

  • 2. Benefits Of Hiring Virtual Employees The Internet has made working from home a reality for employees and has completely changed the way businesses operate in the modern world. No longer do business owners have to pay for office space, they can simply meet with their employees virtually and still get business done. Hiring virtual employees has proven to be very advantageous for many businesses, helping to cut down on costs and streamline workflow. By widening the hiring pool from local to global allows employers to select from a range of of talent. However, with all of the advantages of allowing employees to work virtually, there is no getting around the fact that managing them can prove to be challenging. This is not to say that you can t manage your virtual employees successfully, you just need to have to have the knowledge and tools to do so. The following tips will help you be able to transition from a traditional management style to working with virtual employees quickly and effectively. Create a sense of community When all of your employees are working from home and possibly live in different states/countries and time zones, it is easy for everyone to forget that they are part of a team. Because your virtual team members don t work in the same location, they may not communicate and collaborate as much as they need to. In a virtual environment you can still create a sense of community for your employees by creating opportunities for team members to chat both formally and informally. Some great ... The policy of multiculturalism in Canada was introduced during 1970 s to make sure people don t feel obliged to get rid of their identity on entry to Canada (Howard, 1998, p. 133). Canada has a long history of how its immigration policies came to being. Canadian citizenship and began over a hundred years ago with all manners of racism and legal exclusions. As a result Canada s transmission of citizenship by descent is much stricter than the UK and also different from those of the US (Macklin Crepeau, 2010). At any given time over the past century, almost 3% of the world s people were living outside of their country of birth, suggesting that birthright citizenship is the most acquired citizenship method in the world and almost 97% of the world s population are citizens of the country of their birth (Macklin Crepeau, 2010). Many say that the rules of birthright citizenship could be under inclusive (for example, a noncitizen who lived in Canada since he/she was an infant and spent their entire life there is still not a citizen) and some say it is over inclusive (such as a person born in Chicago to a Canadian mother from Toronto, who never set foot in Canada is still a citizen). This opens up a debate about the ideal set of citizenship rules but it also puts an emphasis that there really can t be any perfect set of rules (Macklin Crepeau, 2010). I believe that honor is doing something that helps other people even though it may not benefit them. Leonardo da Vinci was a very honorable man. He was honorable because his work was truly ground breaking and helped many people but he did not receive any prestigious awards because in his time they did not have awards for scientific discoveries. He brought us out of the dark ages and gave us a head start on where we are today. He was the first person to ever actually start asking questions instead of just following the crowd ( Leonardo da Vinci | Renaissance Man | Scientist ). He, even for the day and age he was living in. had ideas for tanks, helicopters, solar power and a calculator ( Leonardo da Vinci Biography ). He possessed a great number of abilities one of which being art but, even more impressive he was an expert in anatomy, zoology, botany, geology, optics, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics along with a few other categories this made him very capable of making all the discoveries he did ( Leonardo da Vinci | Renaissance Man | Scientist ). ... After he says this, a question begins to form in the minds of the viewers. Who, then Charles, should be a role model? Now, just because this is a commercial for a basketball shoe does not mean Charles Barkley does not have a reply floating around in that shiny bald head of his. Athletes such as Charles Barkley have recognized this need for a change. Dave Winfield, a former major league baseball player with such teams as the New York Yankees and the former California Angels, recognizes this need for a change. He believes that athletes should not be the primary role models in a child s life. Instead parents, not athletes, entertainers or politicians, should claim the position of being a role model (Berlow 31). This statement not only speaks for itself, but it also poses an interesting question. If athletes themselves continue to declare themselves ineligible to be a role model, then why do people continually allow their children to admire these athletes for more than his/her sports abilities? At this point in time, the parents should know better. Parents would not allow their kids to admire some hoodlum on the street, but because sports are in a controlled atmosphere, they do not see the dangers in athletes being role models. As Charles Barkley puts it, There are a million guys in jail who can play ball. Should they be role models? Of course not (Berlow 35). Yet, many parents do not realize or do not want to admit that many athletes have a good amount of time on the other side of the law. The big message here is that being a ... Historical Events Throughout Television History Essay MDIA 202 Television Studies Faith Holloway 300314105 Assignment One: Institutional Essay Recent and historical events throughout television history have demanded a redefinition of the medium in contemporary culture. Throughout its history television has predominantly relied upon industry practices established early in the 1960s, however, the turn of the century has produced such divergence from these practices that some scholars are defining it as an entirely new era of television. Lotz, for example, employs the term post network , an indication of televisions separation from earlier dominant network practices (9). For the most part, Lotz and scholars alike agree that this transition has stemmed from changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, as well new introductions to the industry such as the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will agree with these scholars, arguing that significant changes to the Western television industry has resulted in a new, distinctive era of television culture. First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post network era (7). Each developing upon the last, the industrial changes which occurred in the earlier eras had direct effects on the formation of the current post network era. Only a few days old and her future was in jeopardy. The young child had already pushed through life changing surgeries. Personal experiences effect everybody, some happy while others are not as joyful. Sometimes all you can do is hope that there is a chance things can go your way. But the hardest part is staying strong for those you love. Within the span of her life a sweet little angel was in and out of Tampa Regional Medical Hospital, came home for a whole month until the day that changed everything. Airlifted back to the Hospital for a ruptured incision; which she had gotten from a surgery when she was just an infant. Slowly it became clear that this little blue eyed girl would never catch a break. The baby s mother, who is my brother s best friend s girlfriend, posted on Facebook, a Social Media site, every couple of minutes updating her loved ones about information on her precious baby. As the minutes proceeded to crawl by slower and slower I started to become worried. When I finally arrived at the hospital, I received the message I was dreading, they had moved into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The social contract, an agreement among individuals where individuals must sacrifice something for protection, is a cornerstone in the operation of society. Over the years, various social contract theorists have worked to understand the ties that bind man. According to Marx s view of capitalism, every company works to make a profit, because without profit there is no reason to exist. He said that labor is a commodity that carries an exchange value to be traded for something else, but questioned how profit is made if commodities exchange in equilibrium. His answer was that profit is made when workers are exploited, or work part of the time without pay. Marx believed that if there were no workers there would be no profit and ultimately no capitalism. The issue is that human suffering, however, is good for business according to Marx. People are born into a preexisting system, because the economy forces people into social relations and roles, and because of this, workers truly felt that they would never become free from the capitalist class unless they had the ability to produce a living. Marx found this to be unjust and felt there should be a redistribution of wealth. Marx s attack on capitalism, however, angered the bourgeois ruling class greatly, and his ideologies caused uproar. Acute renal failure occurs quickly over a period of days or weeks with a reduction in GFR and elevation of BUN, plasma creatinine and crystatin C levels. Oliguria (urine output of lt; 30ml/hr or lt; 400 ml/day) is usually associated with ARF, although urine output may be normal or increased as well. Fluid is still filtered at the glomerulus but there is an alteration in tubular secretion or reabsorption. Most types of ARF are reversible if diagnosed and treated early (Perrin, 2009). Prerenal acute renal failure accounts for 60% of cases of ARF is the most common cause of ARF and is caused by impaired renal blood flow. The GFR drops because of the decrease in filtration pressure. Poor perfusion can result from hypovolemia, hemorrhage, renal vasoconstricition, hypotension, or inadequate cardiac output. This type of renal failure may occur when chronic renal failure exists if a sudden stress is imposed on already marginally functioning kidneys. If blood volume or blood pressure and oxygen delivery is not restored, cell injury and acute tubular necrosis or acute interstitial necrosis may be caused (Perrin, 2009). By the end of the excerpt, Barry, through his words, bases the nature of scientific research on uncertainty, which requires diligence, risk, and exploration out of exceptional scientists. Using rhetorical strategies, Barry characterizes scientific research as mysterious and dangerous, a research done by scientists who are pioneers, in a figurative sense. Throughout the first few paragraphs, Barry introduces the idea of diligence, which is the scientists abilities to be careful and persistent in work. In the first few lines of the passage, the author features repetition, as well as a slight parallel structure; in lines 1 3, when the author is repeating and comparing certainty and uncertainty , emphasizing the point that certainty and uncertainty are both equally required within the mind of a scientist; considering the concept that certainty creates strength and uncertainty creates weakness. A capacitor filter, removes the ripple contents present in the dc output voltage. The pure dc voltage is applied to the three phase multilevel inverter through capacitor filter. The multilevel inverter has 24 MOSFET switches that are controlled in order to generate an ac output voltage from the dc input voltage. • 27. Music That Subverts The Standard Form Of Arranging Sounds... Serialism is style of music that subverts the standard form of arranging sounds produced by musical instruments and approaches the composition from an almost mathematical standpoint. It can be described as a compositional strategy in which the composer arranges notes in a particular order based on the characteristics of a sound such as pitch, duration, amplitude or even timbre, but giving no preference to each individual characteristic; all aspects of a sound are equal. Once the notes are arranged the composer uses a pre determined set of rules to arrange them in to a composition. It could be argued that it originated as a response to composers in the late 19th and early 20th century struggling to stretch the limits of their capability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This order could be based on properties such as symmetry or pre determined intervals, or even just instinctive ideas of the way in which notes could relate to one another. This order of notes is called a tone row; this tone row was then re arranged through a set of rules to form variations known as set forms or row forms. The basic forms of these rules are retrograde and inversion, arranging the notes in reverse order (for example B C G becomes G C B) or upside down (for example B C G becomes B Bb Eb) respectively. Combining these rules is known as retrograde inversion. These new arrangements could be transposed to provide a larger range of varying row forms with which to form a composition. Row forms are represented through a system of numbers and letters. The letter indicates the form of the tone row, P indicating the original or prime form, R indicating the retrograde form and I indicating inversion, with RI representing retrograde inversion. The number indicates the pitch class in which the first note of prime and inverted forms of the row is to be played, or the last note of retrograde and retrograde inverted forms. So for example I2 is an inverted form of P0 that has been transposed two semi tones up. Through these rules it is possible to see the fundamental idea of serialism, composition that moves away from the traditional tonal relationships of notes, while creating new relationships through pitch, order, numbers and intervals. Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God For thousands of years the idea of God have been questioned and proposed by philosophers, scientists and scholars alike. Many have argued for and against its existence and it s still a subject of heated debates in the present day. Since God is a notion about an entity that was never seen or heard from by anyone, it has been a strenuous struggle to substantiate his existence. Yet, great philosophers have always found a way to validate the idea of God through their own way of reasoning. The philosophical discussions about God s existence began with pre modern philosophers such as Plato, Saint Augustine, and it was further examined by modern philosophers such as Descartes etc. In this essay I ... However much they may lack form, and however great may be their propensity not to exist, nonetheless some form remains in them so that they do exist in some way.. so this should be enough of a proof that all good things come from God, since everything that exists whether that which has understanding, life, and existence or that which has only life and existence, or that which has existence alone is from God. (Williams, 1993, p.53) In other words all finite things owe their existence to God and these things in turn must be good, since they are creatures of God. To demonstrate the goodness of God and its creatures, Augustine stretches the idea of lack of the good. Evil, he believes, is the privation of the good. Thus, evil is created by the absence of the good and by the absence of God. The conclusion is all good and powerful God exists. Another major philosopher Rene Descartes who attempted to prove God s existence wrote a book titled Meditations, which was composed of six essays, each of which tried to answer different philosophical questions about self existence, human nature, distinction between body and mind and about existence of God, etc. The idea of God was so important to Descartes that he devoted an entire essay to the discussion and substantiating of God s existence. These new perceptions and leaders helped build the structure of the history of the world. One of these resilient leaders was Augustus, who was considered to be the first emperor of the historical Roman Empire. Thelma s reason for coming into therapy was that she was emotionally distressed based on a past experience. She perceived to be hopelessly in love with an old therapist of hers, Matthew. This love was more than an emotion felt and since it was not reciprocated, it was merely an obsession of the twenty seven days she spent with Matthew. The relationship between Thelma and Matthew was unethical, since Matthew was a therapist and Thelma his client. Matthew broke the ethical codes of conduct that helpers are required to abide by. In the chapter Ethical Issues in Helping by Clara Hill (2009), the different principles of ethics for the helping profession were explained. Through the therapy sessions with Yalom, Thelma disclosed very specific information about her time with Matthew. There were 27 days of pure happiness with him. She also admitted that on day one they had sexual relations together. As a professional, Matthew acted against the code of ethics. More so, he did not uphold the principle of nonmalificence, which means do no harm even if it was unintentional (Hill, 2009, 61). Matthew s interactions with Thelma beyond the therapy session did much harm to her. They left her depressed and desperate in the long run. Approximately 16 feet tall, Savage s sculpture, titled The Harp, was strongly influenced by James Weldon Johnson s song, Lift Ev ry Voice and Sing. The personified instrument, using twelve African American youth singers in various heights symbolized the strings of the harp. The hand of God formed the sounding board, and the foot pedal was represented by a kneeling man holding music. The sculpture was celebrated as one of Savage s major works; however, with a lack of finances to cast it into bronze, the sculpture was destroyed at the end of the Fair. These risks include psychopathology, substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, academic failure and problems with peers. Their poor performance may result from their experiences of either maltreatment or abuse. Given that this population of children has poor long term outcomes, their deficits in cognitive functioning will assist in the development of more suitable interventions and psychotherapeutic treatment services. Since this is a huge problem in the legal system, there has been a huge debate on whether or not the reports of recovering memories of abuse can be authentic, since human memory is susceptible to distortion. These types of memories can either help or hurt people in the system for example prosecuting an innocent person who was accused of being an abuser. However, very few studies have been done on the population of at risk children such as those in foster care or adoption. Children in foster care and adoption are a unique group that deserves research recognition. This population of children faces a long term life of consequences because of the maltreatment, abuse and neglect. The importance of being able to understand what child maltreatment and neglect is crucial because of the danger it can cause a child. • 44. The Life and Work of Carl Warren Carl Warren was appointed the 14th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1953. Warren was appointed to take the place of the current Chief Justice Fred Vinson who died suddenly of a heart attack. So, Warren immediately began his term in the Supreme Court and did not get Senate approval with March 1, 1954 on a simple voice vote of the full Senate without any of the typical confirmation hearings by the Senate Judiciary Committee, This approval process was very noncontroversial and without any of the detailed reviews that a Supreme Court appointment would typically face.4 Warren became a very controversial Supreme Court Justice after the Senate did little to review how he might act as a Supreme Court Justice. This may have changed how much review future Supreme Court appointments would get from the Senate. Carl Warren was an average student in college with no experience as a judge before he became a very active leader of the Supreme Court, making many controversial decisions for the times. His leadership and decisions still impact our lives today. He was appointed by President Eisenhower mostly because Eisenhower thought Warren was a middle of the road Republican (like Eisenhower) and because Warren was a Catholic Eisenhower wanted to appeal to the Northeastern USA catholic voters. Many juveniles have committed crimes, that leads us to a variety of different perspectives on this strong controversial topic. Which brings up the question should individuals under the age of 16 charged with felonies be tried as adults. In society today, they are indecisive over this subject. They shouldn t be charged because of different factors that affects the minor s environment such as age and maturity levels, psychological issues, and lifetime effects. Adolescents should be accountable for their action and face any consequences that comes along with the crime they committed. Judges contemplate that the minors need to understand that it won t be tolerated and any perpetrators caught in any allegations will be prosecuted and arraigned in court. They believe if they break the law they should have the responsibility for their actions to the full extent of the law. That they are not above the law and age shouldn t be a reason why they should be taken leniently and should receive severe punishments for their conduct. Emphasizing on the criminal act itself and not the delinquents age. To them what matters most is for justice to be served and the form of punishment used. That they should not be given special treatment for the crime. This is not the correct process of trying to fix this issue. Yes, they have the right to fair trial by jury, but should ... • 47. Implementing Compulsory Voting in Canada Essay example A compulsory voting system similar to the one used in Australia is not a system Canada should implement. Compulsory voting in the context of a democratic society can be a misleading term (Lever, 2010). Canada practices the secret ballot process in voting, and so it is impossible to verify if someone has cast a legally valid ballot. If countries have a singular goal of simply increasing voter turnout, compulsory voting could remedy this problem and it should be more accurately defined as being compulsory voter turnout (Lever, 2010). The belief that compulsory voting inherently improves democracy is misleading (Lever, 2010). Canada should not force its citizen s to vote because other then increasing voter turnout, compulsory voting would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Implementing a similar system in Canada would be difficult and problematic because Canadian citizens have become accustom to a system of individualized rights and freedoms. The Right to Not Vote: Abstaining from alienation occurs when a voter s utility for [their] favorite candidate fails to exceed a certain positive threshold (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1023). An alienated voter is someone who with distinct purpose of mind avoids voting for the purpose of showing discontent often for unqualified candidates (Blomberg, 1995). Implementing compulsory voting would force these already alienated voters to vote regardless if they disagree with all the candidates involved and those candidates platforms or beliefs. High rates of non voting citizens exercising their right to not vote may also lure highly qualified individuals to run for public office (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1024 25). A return of qualified individuals would increase the alienated voter turnout, which would supersede the need for a compulsory vote. Some in favor of compulsory voting suggest that if people are dissatisfied with the candidate options that they can provide a write in vote, meaning they put the name of someone they wish to vote for on the ballot themselves. However, the problem with a write in vote is that you are not included in the percentage of nonvoters (Bloomberg, 1995). The percentage of nonvoters can be important data because it can be an indication to the political community, and may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
