Benefits Of Open Campus Lunch
These are the reason why schools should let the students should be able to leave campus for lunch.
The school gives, then after a couple months they take all the special privileges away that they gave.
Students should be able to handle an hour break to go get lunch with friends, or even go home for
lunch. In high school many students have their license, and most of them don t like the food that s
being served. There could be problems that occur with students leaving, but all problems have a
solution, this essay explain why this would be great for high school students to be able to leave
campus for lunch. One of the main reasons to have an open campus during lunch is because as said in
the intro most of the students don t even like the lunch

Slavery in Ancient Roman Society
Unfortunately, Western Civilization includes many instances of social, political, and economic
oppression. When most people now think of slavery, they think of the United States because that
memory is relatively new and culturally relevant to Americans. However, slavery existed in many
other cultures and times across the world. Understanding the nature of slavery is integral to an
understanding of Western Civilization in general. Ancient Rome practiced slavery throughout much of
the Empire, and especially under Emperor Augustus. It is likely that slavery was just as important for
making the Roman Empire strong, wealthy and powerful as it was for the early United States to
become wealthy and powerful. Therefore, it is important to understand the role that slavery played in
ancient Rome. Slavery was practiced differently in ancient Rome than it was practiced in the United
States. For instance, the ancient Romans enslaved any foreigners who were conquered, and not just
those that were ethnically or racially different.
There is ample evidence showing how slavery was practiced in ancient Rome, and why. When the area
of Pompeii was excavated by archaeologists, the findings included tombstones that were from former
slaves. These tombstones show a lot about the role that slaves played in ancient Roman society. For
example, some of the tombstones are for freed slaves. Slaves were therefore freed regularly by their
masters. Once the slaves were free, they could participate in most

The Sound Of Music
The choice by Stephanie S. Tolan to have the show put on by the main family in Surviving the
Applewhites be The Sound of Music is an important one. The musical is a lot like the book, both
having the key message of finding and chasing your dreams. In the beginning of The Sound of Music,
Captain Von Trapp is cold and distant, but thanks to the efforts of his children and Maria, he realizes
how important his family is and how much he had been mistreating them. He then rediscovers his
ability to sing before working together with them to escape Austria. This is very similar to the way
Jake s attitude is changed by the Applewhites disciplinary efforts (or lack thereof) before his talent for

The Lessons Learned From Park Play
Governments Are Overfunding Parks The lessons learned from park play are not comparable to what
sidewalk play has to offer. Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks by Jane Jacobs opens the reader
s eyes on the benefits of simple street play. In her passage, Jane Jacobs compares the more beneficial
effects of sidewalk play compared to the overpraised parks. Jacobs tells us that parks don t build a
stronger form of morality and help with developing more knowledge on city life like sidewalk play do.
Park children are given less of a chance to visually learn how to become well rounded citizens in
society from adults around them. Parks are not as amazing as they re believed to be from the public.
They do not offer the many chances to learn compared to what sidewalk interactions have to offer.
Plus, the playgrounds do not have enough adults to actually watch over and teach children the good
and the bad. Playgrounds are built for the concept of having fun, but they do not guide and raise
children to be good citizens. I believe that government should not heavily fund parks because parks do
not revere the essential teachings needed in society such as social abilities. I believe that instead of
overfunding parks we could benefit more by having the government actually invest more in club
sports because I think club teams open up more of an opportunity for people to develop their social
skills, instead of playing in a park. Club sports are provided in many cities but each one I

Disadvantages Of Self Driving Cars
They can get you from point A to point B without the hassle of having to drive, your own personal
chauffeur that will free up the time you would have been using to drive. These self driving cars sound
wonderful and convenient, but they may not be as great as you might think. Although there are
benefits to self driving cars, they are dangerous and shouldn t be introduced to the public because the
technology is unpredictable and they can t make decisions the way humans can.
For years, self driving cars have been a science fiction idea, featured in quite a few movies that take
place in the future. With the technology we have today, self driving cars are anything but fiction. From
cars that can park themselves to cars with advanced autopilot, we are only a few steps away from fully
automated cars. Car brands with self driving technology today include Tesla, Toyota, and Volvo, just
to name a few. Despite the fact that many advancements are being made to the technology of these
cars in hopes of having them be completely autonomous as soon as possible, there are still many
problems that need to be sorted out.
To begin, the technology we work with isn t always predictable. Malfunctions may not happen
regularly but they do happen. An unpredictable malfunction could be extremely fatal and may turn off
necessary features to the car. In his article, The Truth About Self Driving Cars, PATH program
manager, Steven E. Shladover, relates the software of a computer to that of which will

Social Status
The Shining Status There are people that are poor, some are rich and those who are just fine. We all
have differences but we are all human and all need to live, although sometimes the importance of
where we stand can come in the way. In the story The Shining Houses we experience lots of judgment
and differences between people that relate to their popularity and social status. The more the world
grows, the more we see the priority of having a high social status in our societies. Alice Munro
describes to us a particular situation that can be related to our day to day lives. Marx s social hierarchy
is brought back, the perspectives of the young vs. the old and how a life can be changed so quickly.
First of all, in the story The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. Mrs. Fullerton resists these common bourgeoisie values. To her there is no need for change, her
social status in the neighborhood. Mrs. Fullerton is a kind of person that does what she wants and
doesn t listen to what others have to say and does not pay attention to the way things are done
differently at times. These statements are completely opposite for the more young and rich group of
people that take part of those of a high social status. In our society and the society in the story the
perspective shown is that it s what s on the outside that matters most. The looks and the money are
number one and one simple person who does not follow that may be seen with lots of judgement.
Things need to be new and not run down like Mrs. Fullerton s house and yard. These different
perspectives are not only thoughts that go on in people s minds but they lead to actions that can mess
with those of a lower social status. Thirdly, when you live in a neighborhood like Mrs. Fullerton and
see new people moving in and have lived for so long and deal with the world changing it is not easy.
Mrs. Fullerton is always filled with hatred against the economically well off upper class. Her way of
supporting herself, which was through selling eggs and chickens, is being threatened by the
development of low cost stores. Her home is also in danger, which becomes the central plot line of the
story. The suburban families, in

Analysis Of The Crash
Crash! Bryan Song 7A Crash. Jack couldn t stand any more of this. It had just been a normal school
day, but now he was running from an army of crazed robots. He could smell the smoke coming from
behind him, all the buildings getting burnt. Tony, his friend, had also gotten into this trouble, but he
was fast and was well ahead of him. He was slowing down, and he could hear the robo s heavy
machinery behind him. Jack its 12 minutes to 8!! Get up lazy pig! said his sister, Stacie. Shut up, I was
going to get up, replied jack as he sauntered out his door. His dad had passed out last year dude to a
car accident, and his mom was working in another city. So the only close family member he had was
his sister, who was 21 years old, 7 years older than him. He crawled out of his bed, put on some
clothes, grabbed his bag, and trudged out the door. Jack had not been eating breakfast for a long time,
so he was used to it. He heard his teachers say that not eating breakfast was bad for him, and he should
eat breakfast, which could help him do better at school and on tests. As he walked down the street to
the bus stop, he met Tony, who lived across the street from him. They got on the bus together and
started talking about last night s football game, and how the Patriots beat the Ravens. On the way to
school, Jack saw a mysterious looking store that wasn t there last week, before the weekend. It had

Social Hierarchies In Ancient Egypt, China, And India
Hierarchies were used to describe the way past societies were structured, distinguishing one group of
individuals from another. People were ranked into different groups depending on their occupation or
wealth status. The richest or most powerful people were at the top of the social class while the
underprivileged people or ones without great responsibility were ranked at the bottom. This system
was widely spread throughout the world in many centuries. In Ancient Egypt, China, and India s
power systems they all had similar ideas of the way their social class was established but also had
different systems. In Ancient Egypt, the population was divided and categorized into groups of people
with different jobs and responsibilities. These power

Rose Of Sharon
The Grapes of Wrath was an amazing book. For myself, the book was simple to understand and relate
as many of the dilemmas that the Joad family had gone before, many people still experience today.
Similar to Rose of Sharon, numberless women have problems carrying and giving birth to their
children today. Although we don t have as many migrant workers as in the Joads time, we are still
rather nasty to each other. In this day of age, many people leave their significant other when they find
out that they are pregnant, like Connie left Rose of Sharon. Countless women have a difficult time
throughout pregnancy, a few even lose their child to a miscarriage or a stillborn, such as Rose of
Sharon did. Sadly, my great grandmother had a few miscarriages, as so have several other women.
After talking to my grandmother, I have come to the conclusion that although they didn t have the
chance to watch their child experience life, they still love their child the same. Sadly, people still treat
each other rather nastily and are quite rude to each other; even if we aren t migrant workers like the
Joads. People still call each other nasty names and do rather rude actions. They might think that they
are being civil but in reality, they are being downright rude and nasty. When I read that ... Show more

Paul Mccartney s Contributions Of The Beatles
Paul McCartney was born June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England. His contribution in the Beatles in the
1960s helped pop music ascend from its origins in the entertainment business and morphed it into a
highly respected creative commercial art form. He also remains as one of the most prominent solo
performers of all time in terms of both recordings at his concerts and sales of his attendants.
Sir James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England, to James and Mary
McCartney. His father was a cotton salesman, who would often play the piano with a local jazz band
his mother was a maternity nurse. As a labor man s child he grew up in a traditional working class

Paul McCartney felt comfortable playing with him, later joining Lennon s band, the Quarrymen.
By the early 60s, the band had changed their name to a new nickname, The Beatles. The band
included George Harrison, Richard Starkey and Stuart Sutcliffe. These musicians soon to be world
famous started playing in Hamburg, Germany, spending a couple of years playing at multiple pubs
there. Stuart left the band early, leaving Paul to pick up the bass becoming the new bass player. During
their stay in Hamburg, the Beatles recorded their first songs, acquiring the attention of Brian Epstein,
who rapidly signed on as the Beatle s manager. Pete Best was replaced by drummer Ringo Starr who
only helped the group gain attention.
The effect that the Beatles would have on 60s music popular culture is difficult to exaggerate.
Beatlemania soon struck the world and mainstream media, and when the band made their debut in the
USA, the media mixed the period of musical crossover between the two nations the British Invasion.
However, they didn t know that this era would truly have a lasting impact on rock n roll music.
In 1967, the band suffered a tragic loss, when their manager Brian Epstein passed away. From that
point onwards, the Beatles began to lose their unified creative focus, and all four members began to
develop their own individual ambitions. In 1969, Paul married his first wife Linda, whom he d met in
nightclub in London called The Bag O Nails.

Music Of The 60s Essay
The Sixties were an exciting revolutionary period of time with great social and technological change.
Some people called it the decade of discontent because of the race riots in Detroit and La, and the
demonstrations against the Vietnam War. Other people called it the decade of peace, love, and
harmony . It was called this because of the peace movement and the emergence of the flower children.
(Britannica) The sixties were about assassination, unforgettable fashion, new styles of music, civil
rights, gay and women s liberation, Vietnam, Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, peace marches,
sexual freedom, drug experimentation, and Woodstock. All of these components caused a

When early rock and roll began the major American record companies did not take the british invasion

success of British bands began to get to large to ignore, it changed the styles of some American
musicians as well. In 1965 Bob Dylan performed at a concert in which he used electrical instruments,
this alienated many folk music purists in the process of changing music forever (Unterberger pg.165).
The American band the byrds combined folk and rock which created a number one hit on the billboard

to create country rock in 1966.
American musicians responded to the British musical stimulus by experimenting with new forms,
technologies, and stylistic influences. (Encarta) Rock music Diversified even further in the late sixties,
it combined new music styles with the mainstream of American popular music. In 1967 the Beatles

Wicca vs. Scientology
At first glance, Wicca and Scientology may appear to be completely opposite religions, sharing no
common tenets or practices. Contrary to this, both systems of beliefs actually share several distinctive
qualities that set them apart from many major religions in the world.
First, Wicca, the formal organization of witchcraft, is a mystery religion. Each practitioner is
considered a witch, and practitioner of The Craft, which contains several different beliefs concerning
theology and divinity depending on an individual because of their freedom to study what they seek.

Essay On The Night Of The Broken Glass
The Night of the Broken Glass signified a turning point for the Jews, it was the first time they realized
they were no longer safe under Hitler s regime. Hitler began enacting anti semitic laws in 1933, but it
wasn t until now serious violence was occurring against Jews. During the uncontrolled riots on that
traumatic night, over 100 Jews lost their lives, there was more than 30,000 Jews arrested and sent to
jails or concentration camps, 2,000 Jewish community buildings and synagogues were destroyed, and
over 7,500 Jewish stores were looted (Schwartz 50). There was nothing left for the Jews, everything
was destroyed. This was the first time Jews realized the severity of their situation and knew they had
to start taking measures to ensure their family s safety.
On the verge of WWII 10,000 Jewish children left their homes, their families, and their childhoods
behind. On November 21st 1938 British Parliament took action by allowing Jewish children from
Germany to come to England. Members of the British Parliament wanted to take action because they
were horrified by the Nazis actions. They wanted to help the Jews, but many concerns arose from the
citizens. Citizens were worried the mass income of refugees would hurt the economy, take jobs, and
require public support (Holtman 107). In order to eliminate these issues it was decided that only
children were going to be allowed into the country. Children were more adaptable, they could be

hiring. Employers willingness to hire ex offenders is also influenced by the type of industry and
position, the type and severity of crime committed by the job applicant, and work experience since
release from prison. In many states, the easy availability of criminal history data may also present a
barrier to employment. The focus group research found that the employers believed that an applicant
with a criminal background is less appealing than an applicant that has never been convicted of a
crime. That means that ex offenders will have a more difficult time finding gainful employment. Many
of the employers did not want to become the first ones to hire an ex convict after being found guilty of

This theory applied, rationality, knowledge, energy and time, error, and ramifications as a determining
factor. (Coleman, 2012) stated that social agents are confronted with a scenario in which ex offenders
struggle to reintegrate into society. Some jurisdictions explicitly refer to this situation as a rationale for
the implementation of closed records policies. There is a need to know what knowledge is available to
these jurisdictions and their policy makers whose are tasked with attempting to reduce these barriers
for ex convicts attempting to gain employment. Acquiring this type of knowledge takes energy and
time. Any purposive social action can be affected by error. For instance, when criminal records were
not publicly available, employers may not have had as many opportunities to discriminate against ex
convicts (Pager, 2007). Social actions can also carry unintended ramifications; one should anticipate

Emily Dickinson’s Because I Could Not Stop For Death Essay
Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death is a remarkable masterpiece that exercises
thought between the known and the unknown. Critics call Emily Dickinson s poem a masterpiece with
strange haunting power.
In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop for Death, there is much impression in the tone, in
symbols, and in the use of imagery that exudes creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie,
haunting, if not frightening, tone in Dickinson s poem. Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly
and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid. For example, We slowly drove He knew no haste /

In addition to these three stages, the final stage of eternity was symbolized in the last two lines of the
poem, the Horses Heads (23), leading towards Eternity (24). Dickinson fathomed the
incomprehensible progression of life by unraveling its complexity with figurative symbols. Emily
Dickinson dresses the scene such that mental pictures of sight, feeling, and sound come to life. The
imagery begins the moment Dickinson invites Her reader into the Carriage. Death slowly takes the
readers on a sight seeing trip where they see the stages of life. The first site We passed was the School,
where Children strove (9). Because it deals with an important symbol, the Ring this first scene is
perhaps the most important. One author noted that the children, at recess, do not play (as one would
expect them to) but strive (Monteiro 20).
In addition, at recess, the children performed a venerable ritual, perhaps known to all, in a ring. This
ritual is called Ring a ring a roses, and is recited: Ring a ring a roses, A pocket full of posies; Hush!
hush! hush! hush! We re all tumbled down. (qtd. in Greenaway 365) Monteiro made the discovery and
concluded that For indeed, imbedded in their ritualistic game is a reminder of the mortal stakes that
the poet talks about elsewhere (21). On this invited journey, one vividly sees the Children playing,
laughing, and singing. This scene conveys deep emotions and moods

Mary Dorcey Come Quietly Essay
3.2. Mary Dorcey s Come Quietly or the Neighbours Will Hear
Another poem which manifests against the Catholic view of women is the Mary Dorcey s Come
Quietly or the Neighbours Will Hear in which the lesbian love is juxtaposed with the deliberately
silenced reality of the sexual assaults against women (Fogarty 93 94). Lesbian sexuality was a
disorder according to the 1992 Catholic Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (Moane 442) and
although they were not criminalized, it was definitely not a sign of acceptance, of course, but a
negation of women s agency, . . . effectively restricting women s behaviour and desire (Weekes 123).
Although at first sight, the Virgin Mary does not fit into this scenario, the poem has multiple layers
and as Michaele Schrage Früh writes:

Man in the Crowd Essay
The epigraph at the beginning of The Man in the Crowd brings up the interesting question of what it
really means to be alone. While the actual definition of alone is quite by oneself, unaccompanied,
solitary, ( Alone ) the story, through the narrator s thoughts and the observations of the nameless man
in the crowd, can serve as a different perspective on being alone if applied beyond the situation in the
tale. The epigraph says how terrible it is to never be alone, and the story serves as a metaphor for Poe
to comment on how he views someone s ability to actually be apart from the crowd. The story goes to
show how social norms, thoughts of others, and inherent desires limit someone from ever being truly
alone. Poe seems to believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are oblivious of the connection, but because of the narrator and his thoughts, they are, in a sense,
there with someone else. The mysterious man that the narrator sees demonstrates that even when
alone, it is impossible to be alone in the true sense of the word. Even in the large crowd, the people
who are not walking or talking with anyone still combine with everyone else to make continuous tides
of population (Poe, 233). They, although not interacting with anyone else, are always a part of society.
The man that intrigues the narrator is a loner that, although unique, is still a part of the crowd. The
man fits into no set group of people that the narrator names because of his contradictory and confusing
appearance. His clothes were made of linen, although dirty, (with a) beautiful texture (Poe 236),
suggesting that he is wealthy but does not care enough to look presentable. The idiosyncrasy of (his)
expression (Poe, 234) is the greatest contributing factor to why the man cannot be grouped. The man
does not fit any of the social norms of society, yet he combines with all of the people to form the
crowd. Poe might be suggesting that even though the man in the crowd believes he is alone, he has the
narrator following him and thinking about him. Since he is occupying the narrator s mind for so long,
the man is making a bigger difference in the crowd than he thinks he is. Poe proves through

Research Paper On Communicative Language Teaching
Communicative Language Teaching
Communicative language teaching is an approach to develop communicative competence by
establishing real life situations. I want to explain the communicative competence. It is a terminology
introduced by Dell Hymes, which refers to the ability to use and interpret the language appropriately
and effectively according to where, whom, when and why you are talking to. The writers explain the
communicative language teaching differently in their articles from the others. The articles in the ELT

significant role in teaching culture since it may change from culture to culture. Meaning is central to
learning the language. It should be conveyed through visual aids realia model sentences and context.
The students first language is very rarely used since the medium of instruction is in the target
language. The students need as much exposure to the target language as they can get in order to
become successful learners of that language. This is supported by considerable evidence both the
quantity and quality of target language input are crucial factors in foreign second language learning.(
Richards, Jack. 2002) Communicative language teaching can be said to have several benefits and
strong aspects for language teaching and learning. For one thing it established real life social
situations where the students have the chance to interact in the target language practicing the meaning
function relationship therefore the students can learn to speak the target language fluently expressing
their own thoughts and ideas more easily

How the Deaf Communicate in a Hearing World Essay
Imagine what life would be like with the inability to hear. Try to envision watching television without
sound or watching an inaudible movie. There is a silence that has way of making the busiest scenes
seem still. Now try to imagine a lively area filled with lots of laughter, roaring music, and a handful of
birds chirping away. That imagery paints a scene of the plain difference between a hearing world and a
deaf one. One world is capable of hearing and the other involves no incoming source of sound
whatsoever. Understanding how deaf culture and how the hard of hearing work and live is important
in order to comprehend the reasons behind why they do the certain things they do such as stare at
others for a long period of time or the reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They did not know how to react to the deaf that is until Plato, a Greek philosopher, wrote on the
account of sign language in Ancient Greece which then resulted in a spark in the interests of other
philosophers, writers, and artists (Mirzoeff). On the other hand, Aristotle, another Greek philosopher,
who has been known as one who first recorded a claim about the deaf, theorized that people were only
able to learn languages if the spoken language was heard implying that deaf people were unable to
learn effectively or at all and may as well be uneducated (Jay). It is important to know and realize that
the cause of deafness was not just because of genetics, but because of diseases which then resulted in
the side effect of hearing loss (Mirzoeff). Meningitis, measles, or mumps were common diseases that
would cause the loss of hearing back in the early modern period (Mirzoeff).
In past times, an issue that occurred most often was how to respond to the deaf in terms of education.
They most certainly were not able to hear which meant that they also would not be able to speak
clearly or at all; many questioned how they would be able to comprehend others or communicate with
them in that kind of setting. There were little to no schools that educated deaf children until Thomas
Hopkins Gallaudet, a man with great intellect, decided that what he wanted do in life was to contribute
to the deaf world ( Thomas H. Gallaudet ). Gallaudet, founder of Gallaudet

Bar Baker Research Paper
Bart Baker I one of my favorite comedians. He makes the BEST parodies on youtube. The jokes he
makes are ridiculously hilarious. So much so that they make you laugh until your voice box shrivels
into dust (Spongebob). You won t notice you re not making a sound as you continue to laugh yourself
into a coma. But as you are in said coma, the margin helping you breath, is cracked to the max
because you re still somehow laughing. The doctors will be able to replace your voice box from a
donor while you re in the coma. Your still happening laughter will be so strong that you ll be woken

Andrea Simpson Case Study
Andrea Simpson presents with symptoms that align closely with Binge Eating Disorder (307.51).
According to the DSM 5, Andrea meets all of the diagnostic criteria for BED and the disordered eating
is not associated with the compensatory behavior of anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa. She
experiences recurrent episodes of binge eating that are characterized by inappropriate amounts of food
several eggs, toast, and juice for breakfast or many bowls of cereal, a few sandwiches with whole
sleeves of cookies, chips, and cheese for lunch. Andrea claims she did not feel out of control when
deciding to eat, as she thought she could stop when she was finished. This, however, did not happen,
and Andrea spends much of her time fighting urges to eat. She ... Show more content on

Andrea has learned to cope with life stressors by binge eating food, so Andrea needs to learn healthier
coping skills. In addition, it is important that Andrea sees a medical doctor as well as a therapist
because her binge eating has already led her to obesity, which has its own physical risks like type II
diabetes, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, chronic pain, hypertension, and ulcers (Bulik, Trace, Kleiman
Mazzeo, p. 499, 2014). It would be irresponsible as a counselor or a medical doctor to treat Andrea
with just talk therapy or just medication. Andrea needs a holistic approach that will target her
disordered eating through cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, nutritional
counseling, and possibly psychotropic medications to help with depression, anxiety, obsession and
compulsion. Since many people who suffer with BED have a history that dates back to their childhood
(Bulik, Trace, Kleiman Mazzeo, p. 499, 2014), it is vital that a counselor explores this start with talk

Sources of Conflict BetweenPalestine and Israel
The conflict between Palestine and Israel stems from disagreements about the land, differences in the
opinions of historical change of boundaries, differences in religion and also disagreements among
international actors that have influenced how the conflict has played out since the boundaries of Israel
were drawn up after World War II.
This paper will focus on the armed conflict between Palestine, specifically the Hamas backed Gaza
strip and the state of Israel that has led to the loss of many lives on both sides, while at the same time,
created tensions between state actors that make the idea of this conflict being eventually resolved
almost impossible unless there is some major change in the internal and external environment. The
armed conflict that the paper describes is between Hamas which is viewed as a Islamist terrorist group
by Israel, the United States and several other countries with their ultimate goal being winning back the
land that they claim to be theirs and also turning Palestine into an Islamic fundamentalist state. On the
other hand, the state of Israel defines itself as a Jewish and Democratic State, with 75% of their
population being Jewish which would make it a Jewish majority state. Israel also governs itself on the
Basic Laws of Israel, which include the Israeli nationality law that in effect grants the right to all
Jewish people the right to return to Israel and automatically be able to receive Israeli citizenship and

Guilt In Maus
How are the different characters in Maus affected by guilt? Discuss with reference to the text.
In the World of Maus, we see the types of guilt different characters experience throughout the graphic
novel. In many ways the relationship between Vladek and Art is the central topic of the book, and this
narrative deals extensively with feelings of guilt. Whether that is the impact on Art from Anja s death,
or the guilt Vladek felt as a survivor. Maus revolves around this relationship between past and present,
and the intergenerational effects of past events on Art Spiegelman. Art is living in the shadow of a
holocaust survivor never truly understanding.

Congratulations! ... You ve committed the perfect crime ... you put me here ... shorted all my circuits

to take the rap!!! (I.5.105) Art developed a really strong traumatic guilt regarding his mother s death.
The guilt that perhaps he was the cause of his mother s suicide that night in May 1968; Anja had
walked in to his room and asked Artie if he still loved her, he said sure, but not in the loving tone that
Anja was expecting. She came into my room, it was late at night...I turned away, resentful of the way
she tightened the umbilical cord...she walked out and closed the door! (103) This painful guilt is
something that can never leave Art. As well as this Artie could not help feeling responsible for her
actions. Art felt responsible for anything bad that happened to his father and that is why he was so
worried when Vladek read the comic after many years. For a very long time Artie did not know what
to do and could not live with himself. He had a sense of paranoia and felt that everything around him
was evil and everyone had bad intentions. Artie couldn t even depend on his dad for support; Vladek

Wernher Von Braun s Accomplishments
Rocket science was a gateway to a whole new way of life, and many scientists contributed to this. The
greatest rocket scientist is the person who was most influential on daily life with their work. Wernher
von Braun was born in Germany in 1912 (NASA). He developed the Saturn V rocket, he developed
multiple rockets used on ballistic missiles, and he worked on the development of guided rockets.
Although Wernher von Braun was involved in forced slave labor used for the production of his V 2
rockets, he was the greatest rocket scientist in European history. Wernher von Braun was involved in
forced slave labor used to produce V 2 rockets for the Nazis. He made multiple visits to factories
using slave labor for the production of his V 2 rockets(NASA). Von Braun was clearly well aware of
the use of slaves. It was not von Braun s idea to use the prisoners as slaves, but he did not make any
effort to oppose the idea (NASA). Von Braun was clearly making ... Show more content on

Guided rockets are usually used on missiles so you can control them remotely for precision long range
missiles. With guidance systems as advanced as the Jupiter missile, they could hit within 150 yards of
the target with a range of 182 miles (Neufeld 250). Von Braun s work was very precise, if anything
was even the slightest bit wrong, the rocket would not work. Von Braun s first attempt at a guided
rocket was his V 2 rocket (Neufeld 201). Although the guidance systems on the V 2 rockets were very
basic, the rocket hit within 20 miles of its target (Neufeld 250), they were still advanced for the time.
Von Braun also used guidance systems on one of his most important rockets, the Saturn V rocket
(Richie). He put a huge amount of work to make sure everything was exactly as it should be with the
Saturn V, and he worked on the guidance systems for it. Von Braun was involved in multiple highly
advanced guidance systems for his rockets, and they were all

Osmotic Thirst And Dehydrates
Osmotic thirst, results from dehydration of cells. Osmoreceptors in the brain detects changes in
cellular hydration, and increase their firing when dehydration is sensed. Dehydration of cells means
high solute concentration outside cells, which causes loss of water from salt. Eating salty foods
triggers osmotic thirst; also certain neurons can detect their own loss of water and then trigger osmotic
thirst, which helps restore the normal state. Sodium ions spread throughout the blood and extracellular
fluid but do not cross the membranes into cells. Any deviation activated mechanisms that restore the
concentration of solutes to the set point (Kalat 305).
The brain detects osmotic thirst by receiving parts of the information from the receptors

The Role Of A Hero In Geoffrey Trease s Cue For Treason
Most people dream to be a hero, a hero that is admired, courageous, noble, and a role model to
everyone because of what they have achieved. Everyone s point of view of being a hero is different,
some might state that being a hero means solving crimes and wears capes like all superhero in movies.
The others might say that a hero is a soldier that fights for their country. Peter Brownrigg, a fourteen
year old Cumberland farm boy is a hero that does not wear a cape. Peter s acts of determination and
outstanding bravery pushes him to defeat Sir Philip Morton and his followers in their objective to
assassinate the queen of England in the story Cue for Treason by Geoffrey Trease.
Peter s bravery is tremendous, if the situation is life threatening he will achieve what he desires. Peter
successfully climbs up the Yellow Gentleman s house by only using daggers to retrieve the script for
the play. Peter says, each time I put my weight on a fresh dagger, my heart went into my mouth and I
heaved for the splash below. ( Trease 132) while he was climbing the side of the house. Daggers are
the only material that Peter used to climb up the building. Climbing up a building, especially with
daggers is not something that every fourteen years old can accomplish or execute. Each dagger that he
pierced into the building was one risk he was willing to take. Especially with no protective equipment,
this is extremely risky and can result in fatality if the subject does not have anything to break

Advantages Social
Firstly, 3 500 4 000 jobs were created through this project, thereby boosting the local economy.
Secondly, Lesotho s infrastructure improved immensely, because roads were needed to transfer the
different machinery and so roads were made on the mountains and building housing for villages.
Disadvantages Social
Firstly, the Lesotho Highlands Water Project agreement requires that South Africa would continue
importing water from Lesotho even if local dams were full, therefore rising costs would make it more
difficult to get water supply to many townships. Secondly, A quiet and isolated mountain community

The Brown vs. Board of Education ruled segregation in America s public school unconstitutional. At
19, Elvis released his first single, That s All Right , a cover of an R B song written and recorded by
Arthur Big Boy Crudup who was a 1940s African American Bluesman. The single was released two
months after the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling. The single integrated black and white cultures
showing people that everyone could live side by side through music. Elvis had a tremendous influence
on millions of American s and broke through these racial barriers (Elvis and the Race, 2016). This was
the time of Rosa Parks not giving up her seat on the bus for a white passenger and Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. taking a nonviolent stand to the civil rights movement. It was also when groups like the Ku
Klux Klan and Jim Crow laws were forming. America was divided and there were protests on both
sides. The radio stations white DJs refused to play African American music. Elvis broke through these
barriers by creating his own style of music. He exposed Americans to music they had never bothered
to listen to before because of the racial divide. Elvis allowed white Americans to accept and appreciate
the black culture (Wallace, 2012). Elvis truly paved the path and opened the door for white Americans
to listen to African American music (Wallace, 2012). He played a significant part in

Epic Poem Parody
In the world of literature and poetry, it s typically not hard to find something written about a hero, or
something heroic, like an epic. Epics are long poems, typically told orally in ancient times, about the
adventures of a hero or heroine and their deeds. The Iliad should immediately come to the mind of any
student proficient in western literature. Nonetheless, the themes and archetypes of these works known
as epics are so well known, that they are even parodied, take completely out of context, and pasted on
the wall for laughs. One of the most recognized parodies of this kind would be Alexander Pope s The
Rape of the Lock. The Rape of the Lock is a story about taking a minor incident and satirizing it by
making it into a huge and important epic of divine proportions. One might think of the phrase a
tempest in a teapot , which perfectly describes this poem. In the poem, the main character, a girl
named Belinda, has her hair unwillingly cut by a baron, and the struggle to regain her lost hair even
pulls in mythical creatures like sylphs to describe this epic poem. Pope was actually asked to write
something like this in order to reconcile two Catholic families, as the hair cutting fiasco was based off
a real event that caused bad blood between the two aforementioned families. The man who requested
the poem, John Caryll, hoped that if the two families could laugh about the whole thing, they would
put the whole thing behind them and end their estrangement (Rippy, n.p.).

Personal Narrative in Game Maplestory Essay
Warriors: Wizards :: Mushrooms: Pigs
The sun shone brightly as I stared off into the distant grass, swaying unrelentingly as the winds lashed
upon it. But within the silky surface of the monotonous sea of green, I spotted an interruption a
staccato in the melody of the breeze. From afar, I could see only see a vague outline, but I knew it was
approaching me, mindlessly yet fervently as if I were a light and it were a bug.
And so it began.
I tightly wielded my club. I could feel the coarseness of the wood beneath my battle worn fingers. I
lifted the weapon and situated it in front of me, grasping it firmly with both hands. I was a warrior,
ordained by the venerable Chief Sitting Bull under the auspices of the proud tribe of Perion; ... Show

We quickly zipped on through and began traversing in unknown territory. The soft grass plains quickly
became a deciduous forest filled with ancient trees covered in moss and dense foliage. The meager
splotches of sunlight combined with the inherent eerie glow of the forest lent a mysterious aura that
my brother and I were actively soaking in the sense of adventure and discovery was overwhelming. At
each portal we waited with a childish anticipation of the next screen to come. But, of course, a group
of fellow travelers, obviously of higher levels, barged into the scene. eli is in this portal, lolz one guy

Ellinia, as it was properly known, was an awe inspiring town with inhabitants living in dwellings high
up within the trees, suspended by an elaborate system of rope and planks of wood. Compared to the
teepees of Perion, these intricate tree houses were much more sophisticated. We were quick to catch
on that the Great Wizard was to be found deep within Ellinia. Conveniently for us, we followed a
group of wizard to be s in search of his infinite wisdom.
After rummaging through multiple portals, leading from the outside to the grand library, the inner
sanctum of the Great Wizard was one portal away. All of the wizards obviously anticipated meeting

The Pros And Cons Of Protectionism
Encyclopaedia Britannica (2014) defines protectionism as the Policy of protecting domestic industries
against foreign competition by means of tariffs, subsidies, import quotas, or other restrictions or
handicaps placed on the imports of foreign competitors. Rising levels of globalization in modern times
has led to a growing interdependence of countries around the world and increase in trade links
between them (Johnson and Turner, 2010, p. 21). This in turn has created popular discourse on the
idea of a global economy arising out of free trade instead of country specific economies, and
consideration of global costs of protectionism. However, the doctrine of international free exchange
and free trade has been questioned on two aspects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the countervailing duty actions did increase, they did not result in a wholesale rush as
they were temporary.
Nationalism and Protectionism Ahlerup and Hansson (2011, p. 432 433) quoting Stanford
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2008 define nationalism as an ideology adhered to by members of a
nation; an ideology which draws on their duty of being loyal to the nation; additionally the ultimate
welfare of the nation is highly emphasized. It is also the attitude of members and how they perceive
themselves as a part of a nation. Although nationalism is determined by various factors, for the
purpose of this essay, nationalism refers to civic nationalism, which is defined in political or territorial
terms, where people are united by a common purpose. Mayda and Rodrik (2005, p. 1394) state that
nearly 60% people from strong nationalist countries garner negative points of views in relation to
imported goods and are usually less pro trade. Further, Ahlerup and Hansson (2011, p. 435) postulate
quoting Smith and Kim (2006) that strong national pride also leads to antagonism against
multilateralism and

The Death, Burial, And Resurrection Of Jesus Christ
Why did they wait until 100 pages into the book to write this chapter? Earlier in the book when they
said that I might want to set down the book they were right. This chapter has some really helpful
concepts validated by scripture and explained with helpful models that should get every Christian
excited about ministry to the city. This chapter is about sharing the good news with people and
grabbing their attention and respect with goo deeds. This chapter is about the death, burial, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. This chapter is also about loving the city and living in the city in away
that is compatible with the needs and dreams of the city. This is my favorite chapter in the book by far.
It contains a really solid biblical theology for loving the city. I ve never seen any Christian in my life
raise a person from the dead in the name of God. I may never see a supernatural miracle in my life, but
I m certainly not going to say that it can t happen. Maybe we just don t have enough faith to raise
people from the dead in the name of Jesus. More commonly I think we have the ability to transform
the city though doing unwarranted acts of kindness in our community. In Galatians 2 Paul extorts us to
remember the poor in good deeds of service. Let us be eager to serve in this way but not forget to
share the life saving word of God. Paul also models for us in Romans 1 when he says he is eager to
share the gospel and that it is the power of God s salvation for all that believe.

  • 3. Slavery in Ancient Roman Society Unfortunately, Western Civilization includes many instances of social, political, and economic oppression. When most people now think of slavery, they think of the United States because that memory is relatively new and culturally relevant to Americans. However, slavery existed in many other cultures and times across the world. Understanding the nature of slavery is integral to an understanding of Western Civilization in general. Ancient Rome practiced slavery throughout much of the Empire, and especially under Emperor Augustus. It is likely that slavery was just as important for making the Roman Empire strong, wealthy and powerful as it was for the early United States to become wealthy and powerful. Therefore, it is important to understand the role that slavery played in ancient Rome. Slavery was practiced differently in ancient Rome than it was practiced in the United States. For instance, the ancient Romans enslaved any foreigners who were conquered, and not just those that were ethnically or racially different. There is ample evidence showing how slavery was practiced in ancient Rome, and why. When the area of Pompeii was excavated by archaeologists, the findings included tombstones that were from former slaves. These tombstones show a lot about the role that slaves played in ancient Roman society. For example, some of the tombstones are for freed slaves. Slaves were therefore freed regularly by their masters. Once the slaves were free, they could participate in most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The musical is a lot like the book, both having the key message of finding and chasing your dreams. In the beginning of The Sound of Music, Captain Von Trapp is cold and distant, but thanks to the efforts of his children and Maria, he realizes how important his family is and how much he had been mistreating them. He then rediscovers his ability to sing before working together with them to escape Austria. This is very similar to the way Jake s attitude is changed by the Applewhites disciplinary efforts (or lack thereof) before his talent for singing is realized and he must work with them to put ... • 6. The Lessons Learned From Park Play Governments Are Overfunding Parks The lessons learned from park play are not comparable to what sidewalk play has to offer. Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks by Jane Jacobs opens the reader s eyes on the benefits of simple street play. In her passage, Jane Jacobs compares the more beneficial effects of sidewalk play compared to the overpraised parks. Jacobs tells us that parks don t build a stronger form of morality and help with developing more knowledge on city life like sidewalk play do. Park children are given less of a chance to visually learn how to become well rounded citizens in society from adults around them. Parks are not as amazing as they re believed to be from the public. They do not offer the many chances to learn compared to what sidewalk interactions have to offer. Plus, the playgrounds do not have enough adults to actually watch over and teach children the good and the bad. Playgrounds are built for the concept of having fun, but they do not guide and raise children to be good citizens. I believe that government should not heavily fund parks because parks do not revere the essential teachings needed in society such as social abilities. I believe that instead of overfunding parks we could benefit more by having the government actually invest more in club sports because I think club teams open up more of an opportunity for people to develop their social skills, instead of playing in a park. Club sports are provided in many cities but each one I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Self Driving Cars They can get you from point A to point B without the hassle of having to drive, your own personal chauffeur that will free up the time you would have been using to drive. These self driving cars sound wonderful and convenient, but they may not be as great as you might think. Although there are benefits to self driving cars, they are dangerous and shouldn t be introduced to the public because the technology is unpredictable and they can t make decisions the way humans can. For years, self driving cars have been a science fiction idea, featured in quite a few movies that take place in the future. With the technology we have today, self driving cars are anything but fiction. From cars that can park themselves to cars with advanced autopilot, we are only a few steps away from fully automated cars. Car brands with self driving technology today include Tesla, Toyota, and Volvo, just to name a few. Despite the fact that many advancements are being made to the technology of these cars in hopes of having them be completely autonomous as soon as possible, there are still many problems that need to be sorted out. To begin, the technology we work with isn t always predictable. Malfunctions may not happen regularly but they do happen. An unpredictable malfunction could be extremely fatal and may turn off necessary features to the car. In his article, The Truth About Self Driving Cars, PATH program manager, Steven E. We all have differences but we are all human and all need to live, although sometimes the importance of where we stand can come in the way. In the story The Shining Houses we experience lots of judgment and differences between people that relate to their popularity and social status. The more the world grows, the more we see the priority of having a high social status in our societies. Alice Munro describes to us a particular situation that can be related to our day to day lives. Marx s social hierarchy is brought back, the perspectives of the young vs. the old and how a life can be changed so quickly. First of all, in the story The ... Mrs. Fullerton is a kind of person that does what she wants and doesn t listen to what others have to say and does not pay attention to the way things are done differently at times. These statements are completely opposite for the more young and rich group of people that take part of those of a high social status. In our society and the society in the story the perspective shown is that it s what s on the outside that matters most. The looks and the money are number one and one simple person who does not follow that may be seen with lots of judgement. Things need to be new and not run down like Mrs. Fullerton s house and yard. These different perspectives are not only thoughts that go on in people s minds but they lead to actions that can mess with those of a lower social status. Thirdly, when you live in a neighborhood like Mrs. Fullerton and see new people moving in and have lived for so long and deal with the world changing it is not easy. Mrs. Fullerton is always filled with hatred against the economically well off upper class. He could smell the smoke coming from behind him, all the buildings getting burnt. Tony, his friend, had also gotten into this trouble, but he was fast and was well ahead of him. He was slowing down, and he could hear the robo s heavy machinery behind him. Jack its 12 minutes to 8!! Get up lazy pig! said his sister, Stacie. Shut up, I was going to get up, replied jack as he sauntered out his door. His dad had passed out last year dude to a car accident, and his mom was working in another city. So the only close family member he had was his sister, who was 21 years old, 7 years older than him. He crawled out of his bed, put on some clothes, grabbed his bag, and trudged out the door. Jack had not been eating breakfast for a long time, so he was used to it. He heard his teachers say that not eating breakfast was bad for him, and he should eat breakfast, which could help him do better at school and on tests. As he walked down the street to the bus stop, he met Tony, who lived across the street from him. They got on the bus together and started talking about last night s football game, and how the Patriots beat the Ravens. • 11. Rose Of Sharon The Grapes of Wrath was an amazing book. For myself, the book was simple to understand and relate as many of the dilemmas that the Joad family had gone before, many people still experience today. Similar to Rose of Sharon, numberless women have problems carrying and giving birth to their children today. Although we don t have as many migrant workers as in the Joads time, we are still rather nasty to each other. In this day of age, many people leave their significant other when they find out that they are pregnant, like Connie left Rose of Sharon. Countless women have a difficult time throughout pregnancy, a few even lose their child to a miscarriage or a stillborn, such as Rose of Sharon did. Sadly, my great grandmother had a few miscarriages, as so have several other women. After talking to my grandmother, I have come to the conclusion that although they didn t have the chance to watch their child experience life, they still love their child the same. Sadly, people still treat each other rather nastily and are quite rude to each other; even if we aren t migrant workers like the Joads. People still call each other nasty names and do rather rude actions. They might think that they are being civil but in reality, they are being downright rude and nasty. When I read that ... Paul McCartney felt comfortable playing with him, later joining Lennon s band, the Quarrymen. By the early 60s, the band had changed their name to a new nickname, The Beatles. The band included George Harrison, Richard Starkey and Stuart Sutcliffe. These musicians soon to be world famous started playing in Hamburg, Germany, spending a couple of years playing at multiple pubs there. Stuart left the band early, leaving Paul to pick up the bass becoming the new bass player. During their stay in Hamburg, the Beatles recorded their first songs, acquiring the attention of Brian Epstein, who rapidly signed on as the Beatle s manager. Pete Best was replaced by drummer Ringo Starr who only helped the group gain attention. The effect that the Beatles would have on 60s music popular culture is difficult to exaggerate. Beatlemania soon struck the world and mainstream media, and when the band made their debut in the USA, the media mixed the period of musical crossover between the two nations the British Invasion. However, they didn t know that this era would truly have a lasting impact on rock n roll music. In 1967, the band suffered a tragic loss, when their manager Brian Epstein passed away. From that point onwards, the Beatles began to lose their unified creative focus, and all four members began to develop their own individual ambitions. Each practitioner is considered a witch, and practitioner of The Craft, which contains several different beliefs concerning theology and divinity depending on an individual because of their freedom to study what they seek. Hitler began enacting anti semitic laws in 1933, but it wasn t until now serious violence was occurring against Jews. During the uncontrolled riots on that traumatic night, over 100 Jews lost their lives, there was more than 30,000 Jews arrested and sent to jails or concentration camps, 2,000 Jewish community buildings and synagogues were destroyed, and over 7,500 Jewish stores were looted (Schwartz 50). There was nothing left for the Jews, everything was destroyed. This was the first time Jews realized the severity of their situation and knew they had to start taking measures to ensure their family s safety. On the verge of WWII 10,000 Jewish children left their homes, their families, and their childhoods behind. On November 21st 1938 British Parliament took action by allowing Jewish children from Germany to come to England. Members of the British Parliament wanted to take action because they were horrified by the Nazis actions. They wanted to help the Jews, but many concerns arose from the citizens. Citizens were worried the mass income of refugees would hurt the economy, take jobs, and require public support (Holtman 107). Employers willingness to hire ex offenders is also influenced by the type of industry and position, the type and severity of crime committed by the job applicant, and work experience since release from prison. In many states, the easy availability of criminal history data may also present a barrier to employment. The focus group research found that the employers believed that an applicant with a criminal background is less appealing than an applicant that has never been convicted of a crime. Critics call Emily Dickinson s poem a masterpiece with strange haunting power. In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop for Death, there is much impression in the tone, in symbols, and in the use of imagery that exudes creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie, haunting, if not frightening, tone in Dickinson s poem. Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid. Dickinson fathomed the incomprehensible progression of life by unraveling its complexity with figurative symbols. Emily Dickinson dresses the scene such that mental pictures of sight, feeling, and sound come to life. The imagery begins the moment Dickinson invites Her reader into the Carriage. Death slowly takes the readers on a sight seeing trip where they see the stages of life. The first site We passed was the School, where Children strove (9). Because it deals with an important symbol, the Ring this first scene is perhaps the most important. One author noted that the children, at recess, do not play (as one would expect them to) but strive (Monteiro 20). In addition, at recess, the children performed a venerable ritual, perhaps known to all, in a ring. This ritual is called Ring a ring a roses, and is recited: Ring a ring a roses, A pocket full of posies; Hush! hush! hush! hush! We re all tumbled down. (qtd. in Greenaway 365) Monteiro made the discovery and concluded that For indeed, imbedded in their ritualistic game is a reminder of the mortal stakes that the poet talks about elsewhere (21). Mary Dorcey s Come Quietly or the Neighbours Will Hear Another poem which manifests against the Catholic view of women is the Mary Dorcey s Come Quietly or the Neighbours Will Hear in which the lesbian love is juxtaposed with the deliberately silenced reality of the sexual assaults against women (Fogarty 93 94). Lesbian sexuality was a disorder according to the 1992 Catholic Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (Moane 442) and although they were not criminalized, it was definitely not a sign of acceptance, of course, but a negation of women s agency, . . . effectively restricting women s behaviour and desire (Weekes 123). While the actual definition of alone is quite by oneself, unaccompanied, solitary, ( Alone ) the story, through the narrator s thoughts and the observations of the nameless man in the crowd, can serve as a different perspective on being alone if applied beyond the situation in the tale. The epigraph says how terrible it is to never be alone, and the story serves as a metaphor for Poe to comment on how he views someone s ability to actually be apart from the crowd. They, although not interacting with anyone else, are always a part of society. The man that intrigues the narrator is a loner that, although unique, is still a part of the crowd. The man fits into no set group of people that the narrator names because of his contradictory and confusing appearance. We quickly zipped on through and began traversing in unknown territory. The soft grass plains quickly became a deciduous forest filled with ancient trees covered in moss and dense foliage. The meager splotches of sunlight combined with the inherent eerie glow of the forest lent a mysterious aura that my brother and I were actively soaking in the sense of adventure and discovery was overwhelming. At each portal we waited with a childish anticipation of the next screen to come. But, of course, a group of fellow travelers, obviously of higher levels, barged into the scene. eli is in this portal, lolz one guy said as they disappeared into the portal we were about to enter. Hey, at least we know something important is there. I comforted. And we entered. Ellinia, as it was properly known, was an awe inspiring town with inhabitants living in dwellings high up within the trees, suspended by an elaborate system of rope and planks of wood. Compared to the teepees of Perion, these intricate tree houses were much more sophisticated. We were quick to catch on that the Great Wizard was to be found deep within Ellinia. Conveniently for us, we followed a group of wizard to be s in search of his infinite wisdom. After rummaging through multiple portals, leading from the outside to the grand library, the inner sanctum of the Great Wizard was one portal away. The Pros And Cons Of Protectionism Encyclopaedia Britannica (2014) defines protectionism as the Policy of protecting domestic industries against foreign competition by means of tariffs, subsidies, import quotas, or other restrictions or handicaps placed on the imports of foreign competitors. Rising levels of globalization in modern times has led to a growing interdependence of countries around the world and increase in trade links between them (Johnson and Turner, 2010, p. 21). This in turn has created popular discourse on the idea of a global economy arising out of free trade instead of country specific economies, and consideration of global costs of protectionism. However, the doctrine of international free exchange and free trade has been questioned on two aspects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. The Death, Burial, And Resurrection Of Jesus Christ Why did they wait until 100 pages into the book to write this chapter? Earlier in the book when they said that I might want to set down the book they were right. This chapter has some really helpful concepts validated by scripture and explained with helpful models that should get every Christian excited about ministry to the city. This chapter is about sharing the good news with people and grabbing their attention and respect with goo deeds. This chapter is about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This chapter is also about loving the city and living in the city in away that is compatible with the needs and dreams of the city. This is my favorite chapter in the book by far. It contains a really solid biblical theology for loving the city. I ve never seen any Christian in my life raise a person from the dead in the name of God. I may never see a supernatural miracle in my life, but I m certainly not going to say that it can t happen. Maybe we just don t have enough faith to raise people from the dead in the name of Jesus. More commonly I think we have the ability to transform the city though doing unwarranted acts of kindness in our community. In Galatians 2 Paul extorts us to remember the poor in good deeds of service. Let us be eager to serve in this way but not forget to share the life saving word of God. Paul also models for us in Romans 1 when he says he is eager to share the gospel and that it is the power of God s salvation for all that believe. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
