Personality Types
• Passive Aggressive
• Passive
• Agressive
• Assertive
We all must deal with
people we would
rather not at certain
times
Be polite
Be positive
be accurate
have a resolution
In order to be
successful in what we
do we must be effective
communicators
We must learn how to effectively be
assertive in our pursuit of our destiny
without being aggressive or dictatorial.
Often that means you will have to
encounter difficult people and have
difficult conversations.
Its important to learn how to handle
difficult personality types so they don’t
throw you off your game.
Tonight we are going to
focus on how to handle
these various personality
types in conversation
Passive Aggressive
Usually very unassuming personality. They often come across as needy. Often
willing to do the job others wouldn’t only to complain later about it, but in a way
as to cover up their dissatisfaction.
Example: “I don’t know why we have to clean the windows twice a day. No one
looks out of them anyway, but I don’t mind because I like doing it.”
Truly Passive
This types of personality are those who truly lack confidence and will always stay
on the fence about everything they do as to not offend anyone. This personality
type is difficult to work with because they are indecisive. You should know when
you have this person on your team or in business, you will constantly be
motivating, encouraging, and persuading them to make moves but they never
will. It is usually to no avail. You should identify and know this personality type
before choosing to work with them.
Aggressive
This personality type is often very arrogant, over achieving, rude and
disrespecting of others. They are often disruptive: They always have a word or
opinion on everything even if its your opinion. They operate by there own
motives
Assertive
There is a difference in being assertive and aggressive. Aggression is savage,
brutal and its aim is to destroy.
Assertive behaviors are motivated by the task. Assertive people speak up for
themselves to remain on task not for selfish reasons.
The goal of the aggressive is to dominate
The goal of the assertive is the task
