Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams s famous play A Streetcar Named Desire centers around a Southern
Belle named Blanche Dubois living in an urban home with her younger sister, Stella,
and brother in law, Stanley where she has packed up all of her belongings in one trunk.
She is not accustomed to the modern, urban way of life, so she sticks out like a sore
thumb, and Stanley gives her a hard time in the process. He is skeptical of her and
disrespects her in many ways throughout the play including rummaging through her
belongings and criticizing her way of life. One night, Stella and Blanche return home late
to the men drinking and playing poker. Blanche meets Mitch who she eventually admits
she wants to be married to him. That night, Blanche learns that Stanley... Show more

Sports Performance Increases With Team Cohesion
As sport performance increases with team cohesion, it is important to understand the
factors influencing team cohesion. Our purpose is to understand how leaders influence
the sport team s cohesion both by their behaviour and their role within the team. Two
types of behaviour are assessed: initiating structure behaviour and consideration
behaviour. Within a team, both coaches and fellow athletes may act as leaders. The
influence of these leaders, in their specific role, whether as coachor as a fellow athlete, is
analyzed. It is determined that in order for a team to have strong cohesion, the leaders
play an important role in highlighting the importance of the individual players while
providing structure, friendship, training, instruction, decision making, social support, and
positive feedback to produce overall team cohesion.

Hillary Clinton Reflection
Women have been able to make a change in society about themselves, yet they are still
being treated as a toy that is being controlled by society. Hillary Clinton noticed that
women around the world were being treated differently from men. She saw that women s
rights were not being regarded as human rights and that it was time for women to make a
difference and have their rights be considered as human rights. Our worldis improving
from the past and Hillary Clinton is stating that it is time for a change to make each
individual be equal including both women and men. In Hillary Clinton s World
Conference on Women speech, the first lady wants to notify the public that women s
rights are human rights by describing the hard work that women do in the world,
appealing to the feelings of women, and using a tone that is determined to make her
dream become a reality. Hillary Clinton wants to inform the public of the type of
women she is standing up for as well as what she experienced in the world. In order to
seek information about what women do in the world, she traveled around to see what
women did to benefit their society. In the text, it states: I have met new mothers in
Indonesia, who come together regularly in their village to discuss nutrition, family
planning, and baby care... I have met women in South Africawho helped lead the
struggle to end apartheid and are now helping to build a new democracy... I have met
with the leading women of my own hemisphere who are working
The Bible and How Satan Came to Be
Introduction: I have heard that Satan has come from heaven but was never really sure.
So for my research paper I asked where Satan came from and how he was created.
Answers for this question are found in many places in the Bible. Satan was one of the
highest angels until was overcome with pride. He was thrown out, and hell was created.
Hell was first for Satanbut was then opened for everyone when Adam and Evesinned.
Bible section: There are many verses in the Bible that show how how Satan came to
be. Some of them are not straight ford but some give a good description. Most of the
verses that describe where Satan comes from are in the book of Revelation. In
(Revelation 12:3) Satan appeared as a 7 headed dragon that had a crown on every head.
He became so jealous and full of pride that he threw a rebellion against God. Isaiah 14
says I will raise my throne above the stars of God. (Isaiah 14 12 15 NIV). A war broke
out in Heaven, Michael and his angles fought Satan (Revelation 12:7). This next verse
proves that Satan is truly evil, It says Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky
and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to
give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. (Revelation 12:4
NIV) That clearly shows that he wants nothing good for us and wants to destroy us.
Hell was originally for Satan only, but in Genesis God gave us the choice to live in
eternally in heaven or go to hell. The
Depiction Of Struggle And Division
Depiction of Struggle and Division in Text Throughout this class, the main goal was to
analyze these texts as though we were scholars, and to make connections and identify
common themes amongst them. By doing so, we were supposed to be able to more
deeply understand each text and the argument each was making. Throughout the
readings, the most prominent themes were that of struggle and division, though it is
certainly more prevalent and obvious in certain texts than others. Though all the texts
depict division and struggle, they focus on different societal divisions This depiction of
struggle first became clear during the reading of Plato s Republic in book I, where
Thrasymachus said of justice, Justice is nothing more than what is advantageous for the
stronger (Plato 15). When examined further, Thrasymachus answer came to mean that
what benefits the stronger, more powerful class of people is what he calls justice.
Thrasymachus answer posed a struggle between those with more power and influence
and those who held less powerful positions in their respective City states. While Socrates
overturned Thrasymachus definition of justice, the discussion turned to government and
justice in Book VIII, when Socrates spoke of the eventual decay of government into
Tyranny. In describing Timocracy, a form of government in which property ownership is
required for participation in government and in which honor is the ruling principle and
the man with which it corresponds, Socrates
Vietnam War Domino Effect Essay
A significant historical event that impacted several nations and had a lasting effect on
world politics was the Second Indochina War, more commonly known as The Vietnam
War (1955 1975). The Vietnam War was fought between the Democratic Republic of
Vietnam (DRV) and the Republic of Vietnam (RVN). When examining the causes and
immediate and long term consequences of the war, it is important to separate the factual
historical interpretations from politicised descriptions and ideas. The severely
consequential conflict was a result of the DRV and their political desire to unify Vietnam
under a communist government and RVNs attempt to stop the spread of communism,
with massive military assistance from the United States(US).
One of the major causes of the war was the Division of Vietnam... Show more content on

Eisenhower s domino theory . Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th president of the
USA. During a news conference, Eisenhower commented on the Indochina conflicts and
communism in the countries. Describing the theory, Eisenhower stated that You have a
row of dominoes set up, you knock over the first one, and what will happen to the last
one is the certainty that it will go over very quickly. The Domino theory was prominent
during the 1950s to the 1980s and hypothesised that if one country in a region fell to
communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect . At the
time, two world superpowers were at a stalemate. The United States and the Soviet
Union, each with opposing ideologies and policies. Otherwise known as the Cold War,
the domino theory was dominant during this time period as the US used it as an excuse
to involve themselves in conflicts where communism may become a problem. The US
policy, the domino theory was one of the main cause of the war as the country feared that
if Vietnam came under the influence of communism, the rest of Southeast Asia will
follow them. The US and their firm belief

It started as a small barbeque restaurant run by Maurice and Richard McDonald in San
Bernardino, California. Then, in 1948 using the production line system, they reorganized
it as a Hamburger stand. They introduced the Speedee Service System which followed
the principle of the modern fast food restaurant. In 1955, Ray Kroc, a businessman
joined the company as a franchising agent. His first McDonald restaurant opened in
Des Plaines, Illinois on April 1955 and he incorporated it as McDonald s Corporation.
In 1961, Kroc bought the exclusive rights to the McDonald s name for $ 2.7 million
and oversaw McDonald s Corporation worldwide expansion. In 1965, McDonald s
Corporation was listed on the public stock markets. As the company logo, McDonald s
used modernistic Golden Arches logo to replace the Speedee in 1962 and Ronald
McDonald, a red haired clown was introduced in 1963. Since its incorporation in 1955,
McDonald s has expanded into many international
Health And Illness Of Healthcare
Healthcare is provided by a number of different professionals to achieve the restoration
of a balance between all factors of a person s life when faced with disease, illness, injury,
childbirth and surgery. The main health care professionals that are required are doctors
nurses, midwives and paramedical personnel. This multidisciplinary team approach to
health care brings a number of benefits to the patient and many systems and processes are
in place to achieve a high standard of patient outcomes. Positive relationship between
patients and the healthcare providers promotes patient centered care and enhances
outcomes. (Dwamena et al,.2012; Laine Davidoff, 1996).
Healthcare professionals build a strong network of providing healthcare driven
programming, leadership initiatives to address the ongoing challenges of providing
better healthcare.
Health and illness lie on a continuum for all individuals from birth through to death.
Humans are very well organized but we rely heavily on all our systems integrating
smoothly and without problems. However when a person s internal balance changes
with one system not functioning well then a flow on of problems to other systems may
occur with it including physically, psychologically and socially. Over time other
disciplines began to emerge especially as technologies expanded and it was recognized
that people often needed health services other than physical care in order to maintain
wellness.

The Importance Of The Palace Of Versailles
Paris is home to hundreds of spectacular displays of architecture including the Eiffel
tower, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe just to name a few. Not all great
architecture is in the capital of France though. Roughly ten miles southwest of the capital
lies the subdivision of Paris called Versailles. When one hears about Versailles it is
instantly recognized with the Palace of Versaillesand is a main staple in most Paristours.
In French, the palace is called the ChГўteau de Versailles, and has been so recognized
with the town that the palace is sometimes simply referred as Versailles. To avoid any
sort of confusion I will refer to the physical palace as either the Palace of Versailles or
the ChГўteau de Versailles. Versailles has not always been the big hotspot of activity as
it is today. In the early 16th century Versailles, the town, was much smaller and Louis
XIII built a hunting lodge and house for himself, because of the rural area which was
allegedly known for its wild game. (Live science) This building was made of bricks
which was inspired by the Italian renaissances. ( pariscityvision) He would take his
son there yearly for hunting trips and after the death of Louis XIII in 1643, Louis XIV
took control as king. In taking control, he was also interested in the moderate sized
hunting pavilion in Versailles his predecessor had made (live science). Louis XIV had
his own royal architect Louis Le Vau, from some previous jobs, to make the original
building bigger and to
The Bombay Plan And Its Predecessor Attempts
2.2The Bombay Plan and its Predecessor Attempts
The Bombay Plan had the most important share in the establishment of an independent
economic policy in the Post colonial Period. India earned its independence from Great
Britain in 1947 and starting with this date, it mainly focused on restoration of the
economy via centralization. For centralization process, an economic model that was
inspired by Soviet Union called Five Year Plan was developed and was accepted by the
Indian the Government in 1952. (Lokanathan, 1945).
Another part of the Five Year Plan was to intensify irrigation infrastructure such as
watering systems for agricultural activities, which preserved the remarkable majority of
Indian economy.
Furthermore, in the context of this plan; scientific investigations, including space and
nuclear programmes were additional fields that India paid attention similar to the Soviet
Union. Nonetheless; economy of India did not correspond all these attempts
immediately because of previous excessive investments in defense industry that aimed
to enhance resistance to Colonial Rule. The main problems were inadequacy in
generation of asset and qualified people along with required improved facilities. Due
to these scarcities of sources; for 28 years (1951 1979) Indian economy yielded 3%
annual average increase and this growth rate reflected as fixed low charges during all
this period. Given the returns of the Five Year Plan; industrial and agricultural activities
yielded 4.5%
Annotated Bibliography On The Ocean
Annotated Bibliography At the beginning of this project, I decided I wanted to study the
natural phenomenon of the ocean. I knew that the ocean contains an abundance of
unexplainable things, but I did not know what exactly I wanted to study in depth. As my
studying went on, I decided to focus on the ocean s compelling traits that affect humans
and the land we call home. Do the increasing population and human s daily habits
interfere with the ocean? Is the ocean changing, because of global warming, or does it
just seem like it because of the rise of studies and the new information that has been
exposed? Waves, being the part of the ocean that most common people deal with, create
many disrupting and potentially dangerous threats to citizens.... Show more content on

Science has proven this because of the Earth s mass production of carbon dioxide, we
have caused the oceans to rise dramatically. And because of the accelerating rise, the
world needs to prepare for the mass destruction it could cause. Large cities on the
coasts will have to spend billions of dollars to stop the waters from intruding. This
source helped as it informed me that yes the oceans are changing and changing
quickly. This makes humans come to the conclusion that we have to adapt to the
oceans. Roberts, Callum. The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea. Penguin
Books, 2013. The book The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea covers lots of
information about the seas past, future, and current impact. In this book, Roberts
shares how the organisms in the ocean have been affected in the last few decades by
the way society has advanced. He believes that the oceans have been negatively
impacted and the waves, winds, and currents have a part in that as well. The winds
/currents have been altered by the weather pattern and caused a setback in the oceans,
affecting the ecosystems as well as the organisms. He concludes the book telling us how
the ocean serves us and how we should respect it and want to help. This novel helped
tremendously as it answered quite a few questions I had throughout my
Virgin Of Guadalupe Summary
Whether it be on prayer cards or gold chains, the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe has
resonance with the nation of Mexico. Modern Mexican icons, such as the Virgin of
Guadalupe, have foundations in Post Conquest New Spain s plight in forming an
identity separate from that of Spain. In James Cordova s Colonial Rhetorics, a chapter
within The Art of Professing in Bourbon Mexico, Cordova asserts a similar notion. This
chapter argues that local emblems, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe and the crowned
nuns, were manipulated to articulate integral portions of New Spain s identity in the
eighteenth century. This paper summarizes this chapter s three subheadings: European

The extent of Cordova s debriefing on the intersection of gender with the aforementioned
themes is in relation to the hagiographers preference in imagery of the penitent and
discalced nuns over imagery of the crowned nuns. The reason being that the crowned
nuns threatened the Counter Reformation efforts of orthodoxy and had the power to ...
threaten male ecclesiastical power if left unchecked (Cordova 164). However, what
Cordova fails to note in both the popularization of imagery like the Virgin of Guadalupe
and the crowned nuns, is the significance in their depiction as not only females idols, but
chaste female idols. Their chastity is an integral characteristic of their being and
womanhood, which is reflective of the Enlightenment era s emphasis on creating defined
gender roles, pushing beyond the mere difference in genitalia to describe anatomical
depth. The female gender was subsequently subscribed to the importance of their
modesty and chastity. Therefore, the aggrandization of female religious icons is not just
symptomatic of the plight of New Spain to develop a unique and respected identity, but is
also in direct relation to the enforcement of strict gender conformant. These two

A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time Outline: INTRODUCTION:
Attention Grabber: In the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, we see a
young adult, Christopher, traveling through life and overcoming obstacles he never
thought he could. Specifics regarding the topic: In my high school today myself along
with other high school students overcome obstacles we could have never thought of
our freshman year. At the beginning of our college prep four class, students learn that
college should be an adventure as dr. rouch states in his article to incoming freshman.
Thesis: Interestingly, Chris puts the practice into action when he embarks on an
adventure in spite of his Asperger s. Body Paragraph 1: Christophers Attitude: Topic
Sentence: Christopher Boone showed an exquisite attitude and was willing to take
risks during the story that most people wouldn t have if put in his shoes. Supporting
reason 1: In the story, he soon finds out his mother that he thought was dead, was alive
and his father had lied to him about his mother s whole new life because of an affair
that separated the two. Christopher, instead of jumping to conclusions decides to wait
and keep him calm until he had all the pieces put together. Chris would often say things
as I didn t have enough information or i decided not to think about it anymore that

college kids will face. He explains Adventure is an attitude and, be mindful that

and positive outlook, He took risks he didn t think he could ever do with given that he

Graphic Literary Criticism
Graphic Novels and Literary Criticism Graphic novels are a form of literature that is
becoming increasingly popular among panels of literary critics deservingly so despite
their nonconformity with the traditional ideology of what should be considered prose
worthy of criticism. Graphic novels share all of the same themes that a traditional novel
has but a graphic novelprovides additional benefits. These benefits are including
elements like their multiple visual graphics which aid audiences and readers when
reading the novel. These novels have developed over many years and should be used in
educational settings. Modernly enlightened graphic novelists, such as Neil Gaiman and
Will Eisner, are educated persona whom have written popular graphic novels and these
authors serve as a testament which aid with the reasoning of using graphic novels in
professional literary criticism settings. Graphic novels should no longer be considered
on the fringe of literature due to their aspects which over qualify the novel type to be
considered for means of literary uses.
Before a critic can qualify if a prose is considered literature they must understand exactly
what literature is because without doing so, than the idea of literature is held at popular
belief without understanding the horizons of the term literature. This topic is appropriate
because when discussing the legitimacy of graphic novels being considered literature, it
will fail the uneducated popular belief s standard due to the
Study on Psychology of Leadership
Running Head: PSYCHOLOGY OF LEADERSHIP
Psychology of Leadership
Introduction
Social psychology, the major branch of modern psychology, is a science that studies and
understands the nature of human mind and his mental system when it is at work in
social life. Leadership is a psychological as well as a social process attributed by the
culture and afforded by the organizational constraints and opportunities. It is underpinned
by psychological concepts like motivation, perception, emotion, memory learning and by
relational aspects, which include mutual influence, power, identity, group dynamics and
organization processes.
The purpose of writing this paper is to explore the ideas about the psychology of
leadership that has always been an enduring topic in the field of social psychology. The
social psycholological study of leadership has several interesting and important directions
and this is the reason that this topic is considered important not only in the social and
organizational psychology but also in the business community.
This paper will highlight the world s leading psychologist s thinking and research
towards leadership who examined leadership as the psychological process (Bligh and
Meindl, 2005) .This paper will cover the diversity of topics covered in this field
including; psychological concept of leadership; major key psychological theories
underpinning leadership behavior, power and influences; cognitive process that

its research and excavation in Southern Mexico is only a fraction of other research

may still be updating their collection, but the museum still uses old and possibly
outdated information. For instance, the quote by Gordon R. Willey mentioned earlier,
Mr. Willey had passed away in 2002. The information on the site is at least 13 years out

What Is The Theme Of Marriage In Pride And Prejudice
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune,
must be in want of a wife. This is the first line of the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie and
is significant to the analyzation of attitudes towards romance and marriage during the
early 1800s. The relationships described in the movie were unique from each other but all
had a similar underlying theme throughout, money. Pride and Prejudiceby Jane Austen
showcases the correlation between marriageand financial survival in the early 1800s.
Woman using auspicious relationships for their economic gain did not seem out of
the ordinary. In Mr. Collins and Charlotte s relationship this seemed to be the only
reason for their courtship. Mr. Collins was to inherit Mr. Bennet s estate when he
passed away because he only had daughters and Mr. Collins was the next male
inherent. This touches on how women were not viewed as equals and men controlled
social status in the early 1800s. He attempted to marry a daughter in the Bennet family
(Elizabeth) but was rejected so he proposed to Charlotte, Elizabeth s friend. In the
movie Charlotte is explaining to Elizabeth that she is engaged to Mr. Collins and says
Not all of us can afford to be romantic. I ve been offered a comfortable home and
protection. This quote showcases Charlotte s reason for marriage is for financial
stability. Additionally, she explains how she is twenty seven and a burden to her family.
Unlike modern times, in the early 1800s
Gel Electrophoresis Lab
Purpose: Gel Electrophoresis is used to separate macromolecules like DNA and RNA
by their size, or proteins by their charge and size. In this experiment, I used the Gel
electrophoresis to determine the presence of all dyes in a specific dyes mixture.
Hypothesis: If all dyes are present in this mixture, then the dyes in the mixture should
travel the same direction as the dyes in it towards the positive electrode because the
negatively charged dyes travel towards the positive electrode while the positively
charged dyes travel towards the negative electrode. Materials and Methods: Material:
Agarose gel (2%) on gel tray, TBE running buffer 1X, 350 mL, 5 micropipettes, metric

Negative Effects Of Media On Women
1.0 Introduction
According to a report published by the United States Census Bureau, American spends
about 3952 hours on a yearly basis on using media with approximately 1704 hours being
used up watching television (Kaus and Thapar 2014). These numbers are equivalent to
watching the television for more than two months and five months on other forms of
media. In addition to this, more than 70% of women have also dominated all forms of
media particularly the social networks (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Therefore, it is outright
reasonable to state that what we spend our time on has a direct impact on our lives. This
premise has been the emphasis of many research studies. Most of these research reports
have specifically looked at the elements portrayed by media and their effect on our
perception of ourselves. Furthermore, body satisfaction and self esteem have been
negatively affected particularly by media. Therefore, it is critical to understand the role
of media and how it affects the well being of women (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Once we
understand the role media plays in the lives of women, we can begin to understand how
to reduce its negative effects. In the subsequent literature review, different research
studies that demystify the effects of media on women have been explored. Firstly, the
studies that focus on the general effect of media and its influence on women have been
examined. Additionally, globalization of sociocultural values is also described and the
studies that focus

She is not accustomed to the modern, urban way of life, so she sticks out like a sore thumb, and Stanley gives her a hard time in the process. He is skeptical of her and disrespects her in many ways throughout the play including rummaging through her belongings and criticizing her way of life. • 3. Sports Performance Increases With Team Cohesion As sport performance increases with team cohesion, it is important to understand the factors influencing team cohesion. Our purpose is to understand how leaders influence the sport team s cohesion both by their behaviour and their role within the team. Two types of behaviour are assessed: initiating structure behaviour and consideration behaviour. Within a team, both coaches and fellow athletes may act as leaders. The influence of these leaders, in their specific role, whether as coachor as a fellow athlete, is analyzed. It is determined that in order for a team to have strong cohesion, the leaders play an important role in highlighting the importance of the individual players while providing structure, friendship, training, instruction, decision making, social support, and positive feedback to produce overall team cohesion. Introduction Rain streams unnoticed down the faces of the anxious onlookers. It s the ninth inning. The home team is down, 8 6. There are two out. Lee s on first. He just batted Brent to third. It has been a rough game for their star batter and now he s up to bat. Everything is on the line. Strike 1. Ball. Ball. Strike 2. Ball. Full count. Carlos hears his team in the background. They have worked so hard for this, each of them playing a unique role. The words from Coach Hein s pre game talk before the game replay in his mind, You have what it takes. • 4. Hillary Clinton Reflection Women have been able to make a change in society about themselves, yet they are still being treated as a toy that is being controlled by society. Hillary Clinton noticed that women around the world were being treated differently from men. She saw that women s rights were not being regarded as human rights and that it was time for women to make a difference and have their rights be considered as human rights. Our worldis improving from the past and Hillary Clinton is stating that it is time for a change to make each individual be equal including both women and men. In Hillary Clinton s World Conference on Women speech, the first lady wants to notify the public that women s rights are human rights by describing the hard work that women do in the world, appealing to the feelings of women, and using a tone that is determined to make her dream become a reality. Hillary Clinton wants to inform the public of the type of women she is standing up for as well as what she experienced in the world. In order to seek information about what women do in the world, she traveled around to see what women did to benefit their society. In the text, it states: I have met new mothers in Indonesia, who come together regularly in their village to discuss nutrition, family planning, and baby care... I have met women in South Africawho helped lead the struggle to end apartheid and are now helping to build a new democracy... I have met with the leading women of my own hemisphere who are working
  • 5. The Bible and How Satan Came to Be Introduction: I have heard that Satan has come from heaven but was never really sure. So for my research paper I asked where Satan came from and how he was created. Answers for this question are found in many places in the Bible. Satan was one of the highest angels until was overcome with pride. He was thrown out, and hell was created. Hell was first for Satanbut was then opened for everyone when Adam and Evesinned. Bible section: There are many verses in the Bible that show how how Satan came to be. Some of them are not straight ford but some give a good description. Most of the verses that describe where Satan comes from are in the book of Revelation. In (Revelation 12:3) Satan appeared as a 7 headed dragon that had a crown on every head. He became so jealous and full of pride that he threw a rebellion against God. Isaiah 14 says I will raise my throne above the stars of God. (Isaiah 14 12 15 NIV). A war broke out in Heaven, Michael and his angles fought Satan (Revelation 12:7). This next verse proves that Satan is truly evil, It says Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. (Revelation 12:4 NIV) That clearly shows that he wants nothing good for us and wants to destroy us. Hell was originally for Satan only, but in Genesis God gave us the choice to live in eternally in heaven or go to hell. The
  • 6. Depiction Of Struggle And Division Depiction of Struggle and Division in Text Throughout this class, the main goal was to analyze these texts as though we were scholars, and to make connections and identify common themes amongst them. By doing so, we were supposed to be able to more deeply understand each text and the argument each was making. Throughout the readings, the most prominent themes were that of struggle and division, though it is certainly more prevalent and obvious in certain texts than others. Though all the texts depict division and struggle, they focus on different societal divisions This depiction of struggle first became clear during the reading of Plato s Republic in book I, where Thrasymachus said of justice, Justice is nothing more than what is advantageous for the stronger (Plato 15). When examined further, Thrasymachus answer came to mean that what benefits the stronger, more powerful class of people is what he calls justice. Thrasymachus answer posed a struggle between those with more power and influence and those who held less powerful positions in their respective City states. While Socrates overturned Thrasymachus definition of justice, the discussion turned to government and justice in Book VIII, when Socrates spoke of the eventual decay of government into Tyranny. In describing Timocracy, a form of government in which property ownership is required for participation in government and in which honor is the ruling principle and the man with which it corresponds, Socrates
  • 7. Vietnam War Domino Effect Essay A significant historical event that impacted several nations and had a lasting effect on world politics was the Second Indochina War, more commonly known as The Vietnam War (1955 1975). The Vietnam War was fought between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) and the Republic of Vietnam (RVN). When examining the causes and immediate and long term consequences of the war, it is important to separate the factual historical interpretations from politicised descriptions and ideas. The severely consequential conflict was a result of the DRV and their political desire to unify Vietnam under a communist government and RVNs attempt to stop the spread of communism, with massive military assistance from the United States(US). One of the major causes of the war was the Division of Vietnam... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eisenhower s domino theory . Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th president of the USA. During a news conference, Eisenhower commented on the Indochina conflicts and communism in the countries. Describing the theory, Eisenhower stated that You have a row of dominoes set up, you knock over the first one, and what will happen to the last one is the certainty that it will go over very quickly. The Domino theory was prominent during the 1950s to the 1980s and hypothesised that if one country in a region fell to communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect . At the time, two world superpowers were at a stalemate. The United States and the Soviet Union, each with opposing ideologies and policies. Otherwise known as the Cold War, the domino theory was dominant during this time period as the US used it as an excuse to involve themselves in conflicts where communism may become a problem. The US policy, the domino theory was one of the main cause of the war as the country feared that if Vietnam came under the influence of communism, the rest of Southeast Asia will follow them. The US and their firm belief

  • 9. Health And Illness Of Healthcare Healthcare is provided by a number of different professionals to achieve the restoration of a balance between all factors of a person s life when faced with disease, illness, injury, childbirth and surgery. The main health care professionals that are required are doctors nurses, midwives and paramedical personnel. This multidisciplinary team approach to health care brings a number of benefits to the patient and many systems and processes are in place to achieve a high standard of patient outcomes. Positive relationship between patients and the healthcare providers promotes patient centered care and enhances outcomes. (Dwamena et al,.2012; Laine Davidoff, 1996). Healthcare professionals build a strong network of providing healthcare driven programming, leadership initiatives to address the ongoing challenges of providing better healthcare. Health and illness lie on a continuum for all individuals from birth through to death. Humans are very well organized but we rely heavily on all our systems integrating smoothly and without problems. However when a person s internal balance changes with one system not functioning well then a flow on of problems to other systems may occur with it including physically, psychologically and socially. Over time other disciplines began to emerge especially as technologies expanded and it was recognized that people often needed health services other than physical care in order to maintain wellness. Health care is provided by

The Importance Of The Palace Of Versailles Paris is home to hundreds of spectacular displays of architecture including the Eiffel tower, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe just to name a few. Not all great architecture is in the capital of France though. Roughly ten miles southwest of the capital lies the subdivision of Paris called Versailles. When one hears about Versailles it is instantly recognized with the Palace of Versaillesand is a main staple in most Paristours. In French, the palace is called the ChГўteau de Versailles, and has been so recognized with the town that the palace is sometimes simply referred as Versailles. To avoid any sort of confusion I will refer to the physical palace as either the Palace of Versailles or the ChГўteau de Versailles. Versailles has not always been the big hotspot of activity as it is today. In the early 16th century Versailles, the town, was much smaller and Louis XIII built a hunting lodge and house for himself, because of the rural area which was allegedly known for its wild game. (Live science) This building was made of bricks which was inspired by the Italian renaissances. ( pariscityvision) He would take his son there yearly for hunting trips and after the death of Louis XIII in 1643, Louis XIV took control as king. In taking control, he was also interested in the moderate sized hunting pavilion in Versailles his predecessor had made (live science). Louis XIV had his own royal architect Louis Le Vau, from some previous jobs, to make the original building bigger and to

The Bombay Plan And Its Predecessor Attempts 2.2The Bombay Plan and its Predecessor Attempts The Bombay Plan had the most important share in the establishment of an independent economic policy in the Post colonial Period. India earned its independence from Great Britain in 1947 and starting with this date, it mainly focused on restoration of the economy via centralization. For centralization process, an economic model that was inspired by Soviet Union called Five Year Plan was developed and was accepted by the Indian the Government in 1952. (Lokanathan, 1945). Another part of the Five Year Plan was to intensify irrigation infrastructure such as watering systems for agricultural activities, which preserved the remarkable majority of Indian economy. Furthermore, in the context of this plan; scientific investigations, including space and nuclear programmes were additional fields that India paid attention similar to the Soviet Union. Nonetheless; economy of India did not correspond all these attempts immediately because of previous excessive investments in defense industry that aimed to enhance resistance to Colonial Rule. The main problems were inadequacy in generation of asset and qualified people along with required improved facilities. Due to these scarcities of sources; for 28 years (1951 1979) Indian economy yielded 3% annual average increase and this growth rate reflected as fixed low charges during all this period. Given the returns of the Five Year Plan; industrial and agricultural activities yielded 4.5%

I knew that the ocean contains an abundance of unexplainable things, but I did not know what exactly I wanted to study in depth. As my studying went on, I decided to focus on the ocean s compelling traits that affect humans and the land we call home. Do the increasing population and human s daily habits interfere with the ocean? Is the ocean changing, because of global warming, or does it just seem like it because of the rise of studies and the new information that has been exposed? Waves, being the part of the ocean that most common people deal with, create many disrupting and potentially dangerous threats to citizens.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Science has proven this because of the Earth s mass production of carbon dioxide, we have caused the oceans to rise dramatically. And because of the accelerating rise, the world needs to prepare for the mass destruction it could cause. Large cities on the coasts will have to spend billions of dollars to stop the waters from intruding. This source helped as it informed me that yes the oceans are changing and changing quickly. This makes humans come to the conclusion that we have to adapt to the oceans. Roberts, Callum. The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea. Penguin Books, 2013. The book The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea covers lots of information about the seas past, future, and current impact. In this book, Roberts shares how the organisms in the ocean have been affected in the last few decades by the way society has advanced. He believes that the oceans have been negatively impacted and the waves, winds, and currents have a part in that as well. The winds /currents have been altered by the weather pattern and caused a setback in the oceans, affecting the ecosystems as well as the organisms. He concludes the book telling us how the ocean serves us and how we should respect it and want to help. This novel helped tremendously as it answered quite a few questions I had throughout my
  • 13. Virgin Of Guadalupe Summary Whether it be on prayer cards or gold chains, the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe has resonance with the nation of Mexico. Modern Mexican icons, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe, have foundations in Post Conquest New Spain s plight in forming an identity separate from that of Spain. In James Cordova s Colonial Rhetorics, a chapter within The Art of Professing in Bourbon Mexico, Cordova asserts a similar notion. This chapter argues that local emblems, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe and the crowned nuns, were manipulated to articulate integral portions of New Spain s identity in the eighteenth century. This paper summarizes this chapter s three subheadings: European Images of the Americas, Local American Emblems, and New Spanish Patriotism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The extent of Cordova s debriefing on the intersection of gender with the aforementioned themes is in relation to the hagiographers preference in imagery of the penitent and discalced nuns over imagery of the crowned nuns. The reason being that the crowned nuns threatened the Counter Reformation efforts of orthodoxy and had the power to ... threaten male ecclesiastical power if left unchecked (Cordova 164). However, what Cordova fails to note in both the popularization of imagery like the Virgin of Guadalupe and the crowned nuns, is the significance in their depiction as not only females idols, but chaste female idols. Their chastity is an integral characteristic of their being and womanhood, which is reflective of the Enlightenment era s emphasis on creating defined gender roles, pushing beyond the mere difference in genitalia to describe anatomical depth. The female gender was subsequently subscribed to the importance of their modesty and chastity. Therefore, the aggrandization of female religious icons is not just symptomatic of the plight of New Spain to develop a unique and respected identity, but is also in direct relation to the enforcement of strict gender conformant. These two

Body Paragraph 1: Christophers Attitude: Topic Sentence: Christopher Boone showed an exquisite attitude and was willing to take risks during the story that most people wouldn t have if put in his shoes. Supporting reason 1: In the story, he soon finds out his mother that he thought was dead, was alive and his father had lied to him about his mother s whole new life because of an affair that separated the two. Christopher, instead of jumping to conclusions decides to wait and keep him calm until he had all the pieces put together. Chris would often say things as I didn t have enough information or i decided not to think about it anymore that night...could easily leap to the wrong conclusion (Haddon, pg.99) whereas most would have immediately gone ballistic. Or when he agreeing goes on the walk in the park with Mrs. Alexander even though he feels uncomfortable around unfamiliar faces. He does just as John Roush discusses in college should be an adventure Roush establishes one must keep an open mind to even while being faced with the struggles college kids will face. Graphic Literary Criticism Graphic Novels and Literary Criticism Graphic novels are a form of literature that is becoming increasingly popular among panels of literary critics deservingly so despite their nonconformity with the traditional ideology of what should be considered prose worthy of criticism. Graphic novels share all of the same themes that a traditional novel has but a graphic novelprovides additional benefits. These benefits are including elements like their multiple visual graphics which aid audiences and readers when reading the novel. These novels have developed over many years and should be used in educational settings. Modernly enlightened graphic novelists, such as Neil Gaiman and Will Eisner, are educated persona whom have written popular graphic novels and these authors serve as a testament which aid with the reasoning of using graphic novels in professional literary criticism settings. Graphic novels should no longer be considered on the fringe of literature due to their aspects which over qualify the novel type to be considered for means of literary uses. Before a critic can qualify if a prose is considered literature they must understand exactly what literature is because without doing so, than the idea of literature is held at popular belief without understanding the horizons of the term literature. This topic is appropriate because when discussing the legitimacy of graphic novels being considered literature, it will fail the uneducated popular belief s standard due to the

  • 18. What Is The Theme Of Marriage In Pride And Prejudice It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. This is the first line of the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie and is significant to the analyzation of attitudes towards romance and marriage during the early 1800s. The relationships described in the movie were unique from each other but all had a similar underlying theme throughout, money. Pride and Prejudiceby Jane Austen showcases the correlation between marriageand financial survival in the early 1800s. Woman using auspicious relationships for their economic gain did not seem out of the ordinary. In Mr. Collins and Charlotte s relationship this seemed to be the only reason for their courtship. Mr. Collins was to inherit Mr. Bennet s estate when he passed away because he only had daughters and Mr. Collins was the next male inherent. This touches on how women were not viewed as equals and men controlled social status in the early 1800s. He attempted to marry a daughter in the Bennet family (Elizabeth) but was rejected so he proposed to Charlotte, Elizabeth s friend. In the movie Charlotte is explaining to Elizabeth that she is engaged to Mr. Collins and says Not all of us can afford to be romantic. I ve been offered a comfortable home and protection. This quote showcases Charlotte s reason for marriage is for financial stability. Additionally, she explains how she is twenty seven and a burden to her family. Unlike modern times, in the early 1800s

Negative Effects Of Media On Women 1.0 Introduction According to a report published by the United States Census Bureau, American spends about 3952 hours on a yearly basis on using media with approximately 1704 hours being used up watching television (Kaus and Thapar 2014). These numbers are equivalent to watching the television for more than two months and five months on other forms of media. In addition to this, more than 70% of women have also dominated all forms of media particularly the social networks (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Therefore, it is outright reasonable to state that what we spend our time on has a direct impact on our lives. This premise has been the emphasis of many research studies. Most of these research reports have specifically looked at the elements portrayed by media and their effect on our perception of ourselves. Furthermore, body satisfaction and self esteem have been negatively affected particularly by media. Therefore, it is critical to understand the role of media and how it affects the well being of women (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Once we understand the role media plays in the lives of women, we can begin to understand how to reduce its negative effects. In the subsequent literature review, different research studies that demystify the effects of media on women have been explored. Firstly, the studies that focus on the general effect of media and its influence on women have been examined. Additionally, globalization of sociocultural values is also described and the studies that focus
