Therapeutic Synthesis
Scientist have the discovered the interactions between molecules and proteins within
the cell that inhibit or stop the body s ability to repair DNA damage over time. As the
body ages, its ability to repair DNA gradually declines and that loss leads to bodily
degeneration and a higher risk for cancer, the uncontrolled and abnormal growth of cells
that don t undergo apoptosis or cell death. This discovery is important to the scientific
and medical community because it identifies the main players in the proteinbindings and
molecules that inhibit or promote DNArepair within the cells. This is important because
with the key mechanism of cellular degeneration and aging being discovered, medical
researchers can develop therapeutic techniques to... Show more content on

This experiment had a sound experiment design. In their research project, the scientist
used mice to test and examine the effects of NAD on DCB1 and PARP1 binding.
While the scientist had to use a precursor of NAD for the mice, mice share about 85
90% protein coding genes with humans, so this experiment closely simulates a human
s cellular response to the proteins and their interactions. Similarly, NAD is found
common among many species so that suggest that like DNA, NAD is universal and
that eliminates other proteins or factors that hold similarities to NAD that are only
found in certain organisms. Also by using healthy young mice who were untreated as
a control for the old mice who were treated with the NMN, allowed for the scientist to
have a control and to truly see the effects of NMN treatment. This too can be said for
the scientist who compared the results of mice who were exposed to radiation without
being treated to those who were exposed after NCM treatment. Though it doesn t state if
the mice were the same breed or exposed to the radiation for the same amount of time,
the control does allow for us to the extent of the changes caused by the NMN treatments

Fantasy Football Discourse Community Essay
Fantasy Football as a Discourse Community
According to NFL.com, Fantasy football puts you and your friends in the front office
and on the sidelines as you play as the General Manager and Coach of your own hand
picked team. You choose your team through a draft system from a list of the best players
in the National Football League and they compete on a week by week basis for your
team. You set your lineup each week during the season and watch as touchdowns, field
goals, yards gained, interceptions, sacks, blocked field goals, and a lot more factors
generate fantasy points for your team. A fantasy footballleague can t function effectively
without all of the different forms of communication. The quick access emailing, vigorous
texting, calling, face to face video communication and the open message boards are ...

Which is why we believe that fantasy football functions effectively as a discourse
community. Scholar John Swales has done a lot of research and work to help others
effectively understand the concepts of discourse communities. John Swales proposes six
defining characteristics that are necessary and sufficient for identifying a group of
individuals as a discourse community. Swales very first step says a discourse community
has a broadly agreed set of common public goals (Swales 220) which are achieved in a
variety of ways including the mechanisms of intercommunications among its members
(Swales 221). A discourse community utilizes and hence possesses one or more genres in
the communicative furtherance of its aims (Swales 221). With these given characteristics
we believe that fantasy football functions as a discourse community among different men
and woman. Although fantasy football is not an academic discourse community, it can
certainly help add to the question if
A Virtual Call Center Via An Employment Agency
This paper will represent the breadth of concepts, and ideas that have been attained
during this course, in regards to transformational change within the organization of a
virtual call center via an employment agency. This course has provided valuable
information that s critically important when thinking about change, initiating change, and
facilitating change. Along this path, it s just as important to understand the mind sets of
those that are involved in the change process. While understanding the mind sets of all
parties involved in the change process is important, being knowledgeable, having the
skills, and the capacity to overcome resistance and challenges when changes are
presented are equally important. The employment agency,... Show more content on

Any decisions to make changes are, to ensure the company s success, the employment
agency s success, and the satisfaction of the employees and consumers. Such changes are
derived from planned or unplanned change processes. The focus of transformational
change in this literature will surround the employment agency in correlation with the
company. Because the agency has proven success in providing superb technical support
to their customers, the company decided to offer other opportunities to expand their
current lines of business. The opportunities exceeded the original plan of introducing,
computer support for desktops and laptops, and now included the chat support. Both of
these new lines of business are already in place with the company, but have tend to
become overwhelming with the call volume, so the agency has transformed and adopted
the 2 new lines of business.
However, before any focus can be applied to change, a solid foundation is required for an
opportunity for a successful transformational. A solid foundation is determined by
honoring the past, which means moving from the Industrial Age paradigm (past), into the
Knowledge Age paradigm (future). According to Duffy (2010), his definition of the
Industrial Age involved overcoming the challenge of educating millions of new
immigrant children, by creating factory size school systems to deliver the group based,
Literary Reflection
Intent and purpose of this class
The intent of this class is to give the student a well rounded overview of the basic parts
of a short story or novel. These include plot, character, point of view, strong openings to
a story, dialogue and writing enhancement. It is intended to help writers. It is not
intended to be a literary criticism class.
I will also provide a brief overview of genre, marketability and marketing promotion. I
will review work for content and structure. I will not copyedit the student s work. My
focus will not be on grammar or sentence structure.
I will give homework assignments and it is helpful to finish the assignments. But we may
move onto the next assignment if you haven t completed in the assignment within a few
days.
Lesson one: The Plot in the Story
Introduction
Good stories have a beginning, middle and end. But editors look for the plot arc, or
some variation of it. If you are an established, well recognized author you might tweak
The arc model, but the rest of us must slug through it. And for good reason. The arc will
pull your reader through the story. It is the reason why your reader will turn the pages
until the very end. It also helps the writer focus their story line, cut out the parts that are
slowing it down, and highlight the parts that help move the story. Trust me, in the end
The arc will be your friend.
If all of this comes as a surprise to you then you have been reading wonderful books or
watching wonderful movies/TV shows
Yu Chen And The White Man Behind The Poem Essay
Yu Chen and the White man behind the poem. A very interesting topic, the article
focuses on a white man s journey to publication in which he has to fake his name in
order to have his poem receive recognition. Does the color of your skin matter? In what
ways are the life experiences of an Asian American man more fascinating than a white
American? Is the poem any good or is it just the writer s image that is worth anything?
Option d: Ulitaritism What should I do? According to Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart
Mill we should live for pleasure because it is good. Good equals pleasure. Maximizing
the good for the greatest amount of good for the greatest number. Also, it was said that
under this philosophy that everyone s good is worth the same and it is all equal to
another person s good. Yu Chen s poem, published as Yu Chen, was published with the
greatest amount of good possible. By using an Asian name he drew attention to the Asian
American community and that is good, right? But he is a white man and did it solely
for his pleasure, and to see if he could. What he did wasn t illegal, it wasn t wrong but it
bothered everyone because he was a privilegalled white man using an underprivileged
name to get attention. This action shows the hypocriacy of judging someone on their
lineage. Yes, this is American and a lot of things were done under the assumption that it
was for the greatest good of the country, but not everything. Most every family in nation

Compare And Contrast Haiti And Reiti
From the 1750s to the 1900s, nationalism raged like a wildfire and extended in flaming
tendrils across the world. Nationalism was born in Europe under the fledgling ideas of
enlightenment intellectuals and chafing rule of Napoleon; however, people most felt
nationalism outside Europe. Two such nations rocked by nationalistic ideas were China
and Haiti. Both countries underwent massive political reforms in the time between 1750
and 1900, but each nations policies differed in foreign relations, economics, and racial
issues. China and Haiti both had to battle with foreign, specifically western, powers;
however, Haiti utilized nationalism to gain independence, and China had to fight
nationalism to stay sovereign. In the mid 1700s, China was a strong,... Show more content

In China, the Qing dynasty ruled. The Qing, however, were not Chinese they were
Manchurian. This greatly irritated Chinese citizens, who demanded an ousting of foreign
rule. After the failure of the Opium War, Chinese were angry with their government
angry with the spreading famine, angry with high taxes, angry with English economic
rule. This lead to the massively bloody Taiping Rebellion of 1850 to 1864. Between 20
million and 30 million died from battle, disease, and starvation. This rebellion greatly
weakened Qing rule, but the Qing were able to hold onto their rule. Similarly, in Haiti
black slaves and gens de couleur grew tired of mistreatment by white settlers. Racial
tensions were high. Black and people of mixed heritage banded together under
enlightened sentiments of liberty and national identity and revolted against white French
rule. Under these nationalistic sentiments, the Haitians politically reformed Saint
Domingue. In both China and Haiti, political reforms and revolutions contained racial

Before applying to for a business loan, I need to put together a business plan. The
business plan will be the roadmap for my bar. It will lay out the fundamentals on how
the business will be established, how it will be ran and marketing.

Pursuit Of The American Dream
The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream
Many human resource departments do not acknowledge resumes anymore. In fact,
many of the companies offer survival jobs instead of the jobs applicants actually apply
to, therefore causing downsizing. I know many may think what is a survival job? A
survival job is any job an applicant can obtain in order to put food on their tables.
Housekeeping, taxi driving or car detailing, to name a few, are survival jobs that offer
minimum wage or tips and no source of benefits.
In They Say I Say: The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing Barbara Ehrenreich
author of The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream claims that:
Stories of white collar downward mobility cannot be brushed off as easily as accounts
of blue collar economic woes, which the hard hearted traditionally blame on bad
choices : failing to get a college degree, for example, failing to postpone child bearing
until acquiring a nest egg, or failing to choose affluent parents in the first place. But
distressed white collar people cannot be accused of fecklessness of any kind; they are
the ones who did everything right. (261)
Ehrenreich makes a great point in saying that although many white collared employees
are looked upon as the so called over achievers in the corporate world, there is no need
to pity the blue collared employees for not obtaining the same status.
Middle class employees are just as important as the C.E.Os. that own the company. They

During the course of almost everyone s life, the majority of us have been locked out
of something, whether it was a vehicle, a telephone, or even your house. With these
situations, there can be a couple solutions, for example, if you were locked out of your
car you can call a locksmith or find a metal coat hanger and wiggle it down your
window sill and hope you can unlock it. If you were locked out of your telephone you
could wait a certain amount to be able to re enter your password again. Or in some

I would strongly advise against using these methods to break into any property that is
not your own. In addition, the Credit Card method can fracture and eventually break
whatever kind of card you choose to use. Beginning with the Bump Key Method used on
a deadbolt style lock you will first need to insert your modified key. While the key is
inserted you will need to turn the key slightly clockwise and at that instant hit it with the
blunt object. This action of hitting the lock makes the pins in the lock tumbler jump if
you turn the key at the exact right moment will consequently allow the key to be able
to turn and the deadbolt will be unlocked. This may need a couple of times for it to
work due to it taking some practice to learn. In the unfortunate event that this method
cannot unlock your deadbolt style lock, you may have a deadbolt style lock which has
a protective mechanism against this type of forced entry. With the Credit Card
method, you will begin by holding the doorknob. Once you have a positive hold on the
knob you will insert the corner of your credit card or any other piece of card shaped
strong plastic. At that moment you should begin wiggling it from the top of the lock
until you bring the card between the lock and the door and you will know when you
have it due to there will be a click sound. Soon after the click sound, you should be able
to push on the door and it should open even though the door itself is still
The Repertory Dance Company Fall Dance
The Repertory Dance Company Fall Dance Concert was held at the Mannoni
Performing Arts Center. The dancers involved in this dance concert are part of the
University of Southern Mississippi Dance Department meaning they are either pursuing
a degree in dance or teach dance at a university level. Both students and faculty had the
opportunity to present work during adjudication to be chosen to be presented at this
concert. I particularly enjoyed this concert because, while all of the dances presented
were a part of the broad genre of modern dance, each dance had such a unique aesthetic
so the concert still provided a great amount of variety to keep the audience captivated.

These distinction sections were noticeable because of changes in energy levels and
changes in the tempo of the music. To me this also represents the different periods we
may go through in life. Our emotions, circumstances, and relationships are constantly
changing as we go throughout our lives. Change is unfortunately inevitable. The
theatrical elements such as the music, lighting, and costumes helped add to the serious
aesthetic. One recurring them I noticed was how the dancers held hands at various points
within the dance, and this represents unity and necessity of having a support system.
As I watched the dance concert I began connecting what I was seeing to what we had
already seen and discussed in class. One important connection I noticed heavily in the
first half was the resemblance to Doris Humphrey s technique which focused on the
breath while dancing. I noticed this in almost all of the dances in the first half, but
especially Etched Breath by Kelly Francis. Separating the Strand was slightly dissimilar
to Martha Graham s technique because it didn t seem to utilize the contract and release
method and did not include as much of the percussive, sharp movement quality. Because
of all I have learned about modern dance this semester, I believe I was better able to
appreciate these works of art. I particularly enjoyed Separating the Strand because of the
beautiful movement quality and energy level as well as the interesting moments of
The Media And Liberal Democracy
The Media and Liberal Democracy Name: Areez Somani Professor: Dr. David
Hoogenboom Student Number: 250644546 Due Date: July 19, 2015 Our society is
based upon a set of key main ingredients that have led us to today s era of information
technology. This vast array of technological advancements concerning the internet,
television, mobile devices and even newspapers all share one unique characteristic,
they are controlled and manipulated by the media (Diamond, 2010, pg 5). When
referring to the media, this work refers to the channels that distribute news and its
content. This includes any forms of technology as long as there is an interface
between message and the general public. The media tends to project information in
any way they see fit, mainly when concerning political, racial and biased topics that
are very sensitive in nature (Ungerleider, 1991. pg 24). In essence, the media is one of
the most powerful entities that exist because of the controlling dynamics of
information (Chan, 1994, pg 54). They can curve political agendas, promote racial
class subcultures, and create public opinion with regards to any social issues.
Depending on the audience, the way information is presented, or skewed , can create a
dynamic lasting effect. History shows that media has played a crucial role in the
formation of certain prejudices we so often encounter every day in our lives. In Canada
and the United States, we are fortunate to live in an ideal
First Time Meeting With Hv
First time meeting with HV was interesting because by the end of our visit I was able
to rule out my assumptions. Prior to meeting with clients I like to read up on their files.
Having access to a file gives workers a glimpse into a client s life. However, it is
important to still explore a client because fully understanding someone involves
communication but also physical interaction (faceto face). Since HV was a new client,
access to his file was not an option. There was only a name with no face. I was told to
explore the client and reach out immediately. Not only did I not have file access to the
client I was also informed of a possible language barrier. Before meeting this client he
was already perceived as a difficult client. I was concerned about the communication
level. I also had knowledge that he was a Hispanic male. There are many stereotypes
based on the Hispanic male population. The term macho man is commonly used
phrased to describe the pride and the toughness of a Hispanic male. I automatically
linked the term and stereotype to the client and assumed he would give me a hard time
while receiving my services because receiving help lessens a form of strength and
integrity for some individuals. As I engaged with the client he was able to give me
insight about himself. Everything I thought was not exactly true and I was able to start
assessing and building a rapport with the client.
HV seemed flustered and down the first time we met. He hardly gave contact and

This person gives the family a sense of dignity (Bradshaw 33). In a healthy family
there may be roles being played but they are flexible and changing. It is dysfunctional
for one person to play a rigid role such as Hero and that is what was going on with
Shawn. I don t think my family was drastically dysfunctional, or that we really needed
to have a hero, but for some reason, my dad felt we needed one. By putting so many
demands on my brother to be perfect, he took away his freedom to think, feel, to take
risks, and to be his true self. This was a form of the Poisonous Pedagogy (Bradshaw 7)
that Bradshaw talks about. Children are considered good when they think and behave
the way they are taught to think and behave (Bradshaw 7). This was exactly my dad s
way of thinking. He drilled that into us as children. I think my dad really meant well
and wanted us to succeed in life. Even though he drilled this success talk into us, he
was still kind and did always encourage us and tell us good things about ourselves. One
way he demonstrated this was every morning he would wake me up and sing these
words to me Hey did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world (Charlie

get so irritated, just like I used to. I bet someday they will sing to their children in the

Essay Violence in Video Games
Video game violence has been a controversial subject for many years. Even the most
simple, classic video games have had this topic pop up, dating back to the 1980 s,
games like Space Invaders, Pac Man, and Donkey Kong. But more especially in
modern video games, such as the Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto series. Many
investigations attempt to analyze the idea that video games are making people more
prone to violence, and even point to violence related events, some of said research
information may be faulty. Within these investigations there will be evidence and proof
for both parties and analyzing if they may or may not be valid, and considering the
people behind the statistics and their claims. Most people that live in somewhat... Show

A good explanation of that comes from Marc Prensky: The most explicit kind of
learning in video and computer games is how to do something. As you play you learn,
gradually or quickly, the moves of the game how various characters, pieces, or
anything else operate and what you can make them do. (Prensky 20) He also has
another article that explains exactly what is gained from these types of activities,
stated here: At the second level, players learn what to do in any particular game (and,
equally important, what not to do). (Prensky 21). So with that information, just
because a game isn t made for learning, doesn t mean that said person cannot learn from
said game. Many people also claim that video games cause people to become dumb
and cause children to have poor grades in school. Some may say that belongs to the
responsibility of the person playing the game or the parents of the child, limiting their
play time and making time for them to study instead of playing video games. Video
games also tend to generate a massive amount of revenue. A large part of the revenue
has violence contained in those products. Ranging from cartoon violence to hyper
realistic violence, it is still contained and still marked as such. 97% of 12 17 year olds in
the US played video games in 2008, thus fueling an $11.7 billion domestic

  • 2. Therapeutic Synthesis Scientist have the discovered the interactions between molecules and proteins within the cell that inhibit or stop the body s ability to repair DNA damage over time. As the body ages, its ability to repair DNA gradually declines and that loss leads to bodily degeneration and a higher risk for cancer, the uncontrolled and abnormal growth of cells that don t undergo apoptosis or cell death. This discovery is important to the scientific and medical community because it identifies the main players in the proteinbindings and molecules that inhibit or promote DNArepair within the cells. This is important because with the key mechanism of cellular degeneration and aging being discovered, medical researchers can develop therapeutic techniques to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This experiment had a sound experiment design. In their research project, the scientist used mice to test and examine the effects of NAD on DCB1 and PARP1 binding. While the scientist had to use a precursor of NAD for the mice, mice share about 85 90% protein coding genes with humans, so this experiment closely simulates a human s cellular response to the proteins and their interactions. Similarly, NAD is found common among many species so that suggest that like DNA, NAD is universal and that eliminates other proteins or factors that hold similarities to NAD that are only found in certain organisms. Also by using healthy young mice who were untreated as a control for the old mice who were treated with the NMN, allowed for the scientist to have a control and to truly see the effects of NMN treatment. This too can be said for the scientist who compared the results of mice who were exposed to radiation without being treated to those who were exposed after NCM treatment. Though it doesn t state if the mice were the same breed or exposed to the radiation for the same amount of time, the control does allow for us to the extent of the changes caused by the NMN treatments in the
  • 3. Fantasy Football Discourse Community Essay Fantasy Football as a Discourse Community According to NFL.com, Fantasy football puts you and your friends in the front office and on the sidelines as you play as the General Manager and Coach of your own hand picked team. You choose your team through a draft system from a list of the best players in the National Football League and they compete on a week by week basis for your team. You set your lineup each week during the season and watch as touchdowns, field goals, yards gained, interceptions, sacks, blocked field goals, and a lot more factors generate fantasy points for your team. A fantasy footballleague can t function effectively without all of the different forms of communication. The quick access emailing, vigorous texting, calling, face to face video communication and the open message boards are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which is why we believe that fantasy football functions effectively as a discourse community. Scholar John Swales has done a lot of research and work to help others effectively understand the concepts of discourse communities. John Swales proposes six defining characteristics that are necessary and sufficient for identifying a group of individuals as a discourse community. Swales very first step says a discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals (Swales 220) which are achieved in a variety of ways including the mechanisms of intercommunications among its members (Swales 221). A discourse community utilizes and hence possesses one or more genres in the communicative furtherance of its aims (Swales 221). With these given characteristics we believe that fantasy football functions as a discourse community among different men and woman. Although fantasy football is not an academic discourse community, it can certainly help add to the question if
  • 4. A Virtual Call Center Via An Employment Agency This paper will represent the breadth of concepts, and ideas that have been attained during this course, in regards to transformational change within the organization of a virtual call center via an employment agency. This course has provided valuable information that s critically important when thinking about change, initiating change, and facilitating change. Along this path, it s just as important to understand the mind sets of those that are involved in the change process. While understanding the mind sets of all parties involved in the change process is important, being knowledgeable, having the skills, and the capacity to overcome resistance and challenges when changes are presented are equally important. The employment agency,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any decisions to make changes are, to ensure the company s success, the employment agency s success, and the satisfaction of the employees and consumers. Such changes are derived from planned or unplanned change processes. The focus of transformational change in this literature will surround the employment agency in correlation with the company. Because the agency has proven success in providing superb technical support to their customers, the company decided to offer other opportunities to expand their current lines of business. The opportunities exceeded the original plan of introducing, computer support for desktops and laptops, and now included the chat support. Both of these new lines of business are already in place with the company, but have tend to become overwhelming with the call volume, so the agency has transformed and adopted the 2 new lines of business. However, before any focus can be applied to change, a solid foundation is required for an opportunity for a successful transformational. A solid foundation is determined by honoring the past, which means moving from the Industrial Age paradigm (past), into the Knowledge Age paradigm (future). According to Duffy (2010), his definition of the Industrial Age involved overcoming the challenge of educating millions of new immigrant children, by creating factory size school systems to deliver the group based,
  • 5. Literary Reflection Intent and purpose of this class The intent of this class is to give the student a well rounded overview of the basic parts of a short story or novel. These include plot, character, point of view, strong openings to a story, dialogue and writing enhancement. It is intended to help writers. It is not intended to be a literary criticism class. I will also provide a brief overview of genre, marketability and marketing promotion. I will review work for content and structure. I will not copyedit the student s work. My focus will not be on grammar or sentence structure. I will give homework assignments and it is helpful to finish the assignments. But we may move onto the next assignment if you haven t completed in the assignment within a few days. Lesson one: The Plot in the Story Introduction Good stories have a beginning, middle and end. But editors look for the plot arc, or some variation of it. If you are an established, well recognized author you might tweak The arc model, but the rest of us must slug through it. And for good reason. The arc will pull your reader through the story. It is the reason why your reader will turn the pages until the very end. It also helps the writer focus their story line, cut out the parts that are slowing it down, and highlight the parts that help move the story. Trust me, in the end The arc will be your friend. If all of this comes as a surprise to you then you have been reading wonderful books or watching wonderful movies/TV shows
  • 6. Yu Chen And The White Man Behind The Poem Essay Yu Chen and the White man behind the poem. A very interesting topic, the article focuses on a white man s journey to publication in which he has to fake his name in order to have his poem receive recognition. Does the color of your skin matter? In what ways are the life experiences of an Asian American man more fascinating than a white American? Is the poem any good or is it just the writer s image that is worth anything? Option d: Ulitaritism What should I do? According to Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill we should live for pleasure because it is good. Good equals pleasure. Maximizing the good for the greatest amount of good for the greatest number. Also, it was said that under this philosophy that everyone s good is worth the same and it is all equal to another person s good. Yu Chen s poem, published as Yu Chen, was published with the greatest amount of good possible. By using an Asian name he drew attention to the Asian American community and that is good, right? But he is a white man and did it solely for his pleasure, and to see if he could. What he did wasn t illegal, it wasn t wrong but it bothered everyone because he was a privilegalled white man using an underprivileged name to get attention. This action shows the hypocriacy of judging someone on their lineage. Yes, this is American and a lot of things were done under the assumption that it was for the greatest good of the country, but not everything. Most every family in nation was the

Nationalism was born in Europe under the fledgling ideas of enlightenment intellectuals and chafing rule of Napoleon; however, people most felt nationalism outside Europe. Two such nations rocked by nationalistic ideas were China and Haiti. Both countries underwent massive political reforms in the time between 1750 and 1900, but each nations policies differed in foreign relations, economics, and racial issues. China and Haiti both had to battle with foreign, specifically western, powers; however, Haiti utilized nationalism to gain independence, and China had to fight nationalism to stay sovereign. In the mid 1700s, China was a strong,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In China, the Qing dynasty ruled. The Qing, however, were not Chinese they were Manchurian. This greatly irritated Chinese citizens, who demanded an ousting of foreign rule. After the failure of the Opium War, Chinese were angry with their government angry with the spreading famine, angry with high taxes, angry with English economic rule. This lead to the massively bloody Taiping Rebellion of 1850 to 1864. Between 20 million and 30 million died from battle, disease, and starvation. This rebellion greatly weakened Qing rule, but the Qing were able to hold onto their rule. Similarly, in Haiti black slaves and gens de couleur grew tired of mistreatment by white settlers. Racial tensions were high. Black and people of mixed heritage banded together under enlightened sentiments of liberty and national identity and revolted against white French rule. Under these nationalistic sentiments, the Haitians politically reformed Saint Domingue. In both China and Haiti, political reforms and revolutions contained racial

The bar will strive to serve quality appetizers and beverages with outstanding customer service. Every customer will have the opportunity to watch from any seat in the bar as well as control the volume of their game at each booth. I have been doing research on different sports bars in order to try and cover all my bases if any issues arise. Before applying to for a business loan, I need to put together a business plan. The business plan will be the roadmap for my bar. It will lay out the fundamentals on how the business will be established, how it will be ran and marketing.

All of these qualities were evident in Gates s nimble response to the sudden public interest in the Internet. Beginning in 1995 and 1996, Gates feverishly refocused Microsoft on the development of consumer and enterprise software solutions for the Internet, developed the Windows CE operating system platform for networking non computer devices such as home televisions and personal digital assistants, created the Microsoft Network to compete with America Online and other Internet providers, and through Gates s company Corbis, acquired the huge Bett mann photo archives and other collections for use in electronic distribution. • 11. Pursuit Of The American Dream The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream Many human resource departments do not acknowledge resumes anymore. In fact, many of the companies offer survival jobs instead of the jobs applicants actually apply to, therefore causing downsizing. I know many may think what is a survival job? A survival job is any job an applicant can obtain in order to put food on their tables. Housekeeping, taxi driving or car detailing, to name a few, are survival jobs that offer minimum wage or tips and no source of benefits. In They Say I Say: The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing Barbara Ehrenreich author of The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream claims that: Stories of white collar downward mobility cannot be brushed off as easily as accounts of blue collar economic woes, which the hard hearted traditionally blame on bad choices : failing to get a college degree, for example, failing to postpone child bearing until acquiring a nest egg, or failing to choose affluent parents in the first place. But distressed white collar people cannot be accused of fecklessness of any kind; they are the ones who did everything right. (261) Ehrenreich makes a great point in saying that although many white collared employees are looked upon as the so called over achievers in the corporate world, there is no need to pity the blue collared employees for not obtaining the same status. Middle class employees are just as important as the C.E.Os. that own the company. They are the people who do the

With these situations, there can be a couple solutions, for example, if you were locked out of your car you can call a locksmith or find a metal coat hanger and wiggle it down your window sill and hope you can unlock it. If you were locked out of your telephone you could wait a certain amount to be able to re enter your password again. Or in some instances, you can plug your phone into your computer for a chance to gain extra tries at re entering it or reset it completely. I would strongly advise against using these methods to break into any property that is not your own. In addition, the Credit Card method can fracture and eventually break whatever kind of card you choose to use. Beginning with the Bump Key Method used on a deadbolt style lock you will first need to insert your modified key. While the key is inserted you will need to turn the key slightly clockwise and at that instant hit it with the blunt object. This action of hitting the lock makes the pins in the lock tumbler jump if you turn the key at the exact right moment will consequently allow the key to be able to turn and the deadbolt will be unlocked. This may need a couple of times for it to work due to it taking some practice to learn. In the unfortunate event that this method cannot unlock your deadbolt style lock, you may have a deadbolt style lock which has a protective mechanism against this type of forced entry. With the Credit Card method, you will begin by holding the doorknob. Once you have a positive hold on the knob you will insert the corner of your credit card or any other piece of card shaped strong plastic. At that moment you should begin wiggling it from the top of the lock until you bring the card between the lock and the door and you will know when you have it due to there will be a click sound. Soon after the click sound, you should be able to push on the door and it should open even though the door itself is still

The dancers involved in this dance concert are part of the University of Southern Mississippi Dance Department meaning they are either pursuing a degree in dance or teach dance at a university level. Both students and faculty had the opportunity to present work during adjudication to be chosen to be presented at this concert. I particularly enjoyed this concert because, while all of the dances presented were a part of the broad genre of modern dance, each dance had such a unique aesthetic so the concert still provided a great amount of variety to keep the audience captivated. The two pieces I have chosen to review represent this variety very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These distinction sections were noticeable because of changes in energy levels and changes in the tempo of the music. To me this also represents the different periods we may go through in life. Our emotions, circumstances, and relationships are constantly changing as we go throughout our lives. Change is unfortunately inevitable. The theatrical elements such as the music, lighting, and costumes helped add to the serious aesthetic. One recurring them I noticed was how the dancers held hands at various points within the dance, and this represents unity and necessity of having a support system. As I watched the dance concert I began connecting what I was seeing to what we had already seen and discussed in class. One important connection I noticed heavily in the first half was the resemblance to Doris Humphrey s technique which focused on the breath while dancing. I noticed this in almost all of the dances in the first half, but especially Etched Breath by Kelly Francis. Separating the Strand was slightly dissimilar to Martha Graham s technique because it didn t seem to utilize the contract and release method and did not include as much of the percussive, sharp movement quality. Because of all I have learned about modern dance this semester, I believe I was better able to appreciate these works of art. I particularly enjoyed Separating the Strand because of the beautiful movement quality and energy level as well as the interesting moments of
  • 14. The Media And Liberal Democracy The Media and Liberal Democracy Name: Areez Somani Professor: Dr. David Hoogenboom Student Number: 250644546 Due Date: July 19, 2015 Our society is based upon a set of key main ingredients that have led us to today s era of information technology. This vast array of technological advancements concerning the internet, television, mobile devices and even newspapers all share one unique characteristic, they are controlled and manipulated by the media (Diamond, 2010, pg 5). When referring to the media, this work refers to the channels that distribute news and its content. This includes any forms of technology as long as there is an interface between message and the general public. The media tends to project information in any way they see fit, mainly when concerning political, racial and biased topics that are very sensitive in nature (Ungerleider, 1991. pg 24). In essence, the media is one of the most powerful entities that exist because of the controlling dynamics of information (Chan, 1994, pg 54). They can curve political agendas, promote racial class subcultures, and create public opinion with regards to any social issues. Depending on the audience, the way information is presented, or skewed , can create a dynamic lasting effect. History shows that media has played a crucial role in the formation of certain prejudices we so often encounter every day in our lives. In Canada and the United States, we are fortunate to live in an ideal
  • 15. First Time Meeting With Hv First time meeting with HV was interesting because by the end of our visit I was able to rule out my assumptions. Prior to meeting with clients I like to read up on their files. Having access to a file gives workers a glimpse into a client s life. However, it is important to still explore a client because fully understanding someone involves communication but also physical interaction (faceto face). Since HV was a new client, access to his file was not an option. There was only a name with no face. I was told to explore the client and reach out immediately. Not only did I not have file access to the client I was also informed of a possible language barrier. Before meeting this client he was already perceived as a difficult client. I was concerned about the communication level. I also had knowledge that he was a Hispanic male. There are many stereotypes based on the Hispanic male population. The term macho man is commonly used phrased to describe the pride and the toughness of a Hispanic male. I automatically linked the term and stereotype to the client and assumed he would give me a hard time while receiving my services because receiving help lessens a form of strength and integrity for some individuals. As I engaged with the client he was able to give me insight about himself. Everything I thought was not exactly true and I was able to start assessing and building a rapport with the client. HV seemed flustered and down the first time we met. He hardly gave contact and

We were happy and there was plenty of laughter and love to go around. Furthermore, like the television show, there were plenty of struggles and some kind of dilemma to solve before the night was over. No matter the problems the day may have brought, I always went to bed feeling happy, safe, and loved. Unlike the majority of kids in my fifth grade class with broken homes, I just knew that my parents would be together forever. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This person gives the family a sense of dignity (Bradshaw 33). In a healthy family there may be roles being played but they are flexible and changing. It is dysfunctional for one person to play a rigid role such as Hero and that is what was going on with Shawn. I don t think my family was drastically dysfunctional, or that we really needed to have a hero, but for some reason, my dad felt we needed one. By putting so many demands on my brother to be perfect, he took away his freedom to think, feel, to take risks, and to be his true self. This was a form of the Poisonous Pedagogy (Bradshaw 7) that Bradshaw talks about. Children are considered good when they think and behave the way they are taught to think and behave (Bradshaw 7). This was exactly my dad s way of thinking. He drilled that into us as children. I think my dad really meant well and wanted us to succeed in life. Even though he drilled this success talk into us, he was still kind and did always encourage us and tell us good things about ourselves. One way he demonstrated this was every morning he would wake me up and sing these words to me Hey did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world (Charlie Rich) . It s funny, I find myself singing to my boys in the morning, and sometimes they get so irritated, just like I used to. I bet someday they will sing to their children in the morning. My mom was really a great mom. She went
  • 17. Essay Violence in Video Games Video game violence has been a controversial subject for many years. Even the most simple, classic video games have had this topic pop up, dating back to the 1980 s, games like Space Invaders, Pac Man, and Donkey Kong. But more especially in modern video games, such as the Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto series. Many investigations attempt to analyze the idea that video games are making people more prone to violence, and even point to violence related events, some of said research information may be faulty. Within these investigations there will be evidence and proof for both parties and analyzing if they may or may not be valid, and considering the people behind the statistics and their claims. Most people that live in somewhat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good explanation of that comes from Marc Prensky: The most explicit kind of learning in video and computer games is how to do something. As you play you learn, gradually or quickly, the moves of the game how various characters, pieces, or anything else operate and what you can make them do. (Prensky 20) He also has another article that explains exactly what is gained from these types of activities, stated here: At the second level, players learn what to do in any particular game (and, equally important, what not to do). (Prensky 21). So with that information, just because a game isn t made for learning, doesn t mean that said person cannot learn from said game. Many people also claim that video games cause people to become dumb and cause children to have poor grades in school. Some may say that belongs to the responsibility of the person playing the game or the parents of the child, limiting their play time and making time for them to study instead of playing video games. Video games also tend to generate a massive amount of revenue. A large part of the revenue has violence contained in those products. Ranging from cartoon violence to hyper realistic violence, it is still contained and still marked as such. 97% of 12 17 year olds in the US played video games in 2008, thus fueling an $11.7 billion domestic
