Paley s Arguments On The Existence Of God
My argument and ideas are based on parts of Thomas Aquinas and William Paley s arguments on the
existence of God. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion. Does
God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual
journeys. The existence of God is provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the proof of
possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God exists. The natural
world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the transcendent personal cause of
the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning. Therefore, nothing caused God. All humans
have attempted to find the answers to the great questions of life. Like where did I come from or what
is wrong with me and the world? We all seek answers, we all want wrongs to be set right, and we all
yearn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inanimate objects are soulless things like rocks, land, and sand. Animate things are people, animals,
and plants. There is something in us as animate things that cause or stop us to feel wrong about
something even if there are no consequences. This is similar to a human feeling shameful or guilty of
being fearful of death. Parents don t teach babies all right and wrongs there is no law for them, they
are born with the intelligence of judgment or sense of wrong and right which isn t taught. Even if there
were no laws in the world, there would be hesitation (consciousness) inside you, which may sway
your decisions and actions. Governance is driven toward the end or goal which is happiness. Whether
it s the course of good means or bad means it may drive to the end or it may not. Inanimate things
have to direct to its proper end or function. Therefore God directs all natural things to order and to an

A Comparison of Pride in King Lear and The Duchess of...
The Sin of Pride Exposed in King Lear, and The Duchess of Malfi
In this brief monograph, we shall be hunting down and examining various creatures from the bestiary
of Medieval/Renaissance thought. Among these are the fierce lion of imperious, egotistical power, a
pair of fantastic peacocks, one of vanity, one of preening social status, and the docile lamb of humility.
The lion and the peacocks are of the species known as pride, while the lamb is of an entirely different,
in fact antithetical race, that of humility and forgiveness. The textual regions we shall be exploring
include the diverse expanses, from palace to heath, of William Shakespeare, the dark, sinister Italy of
John Webster, and the perfumed lady s chambers of Ben ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only pride bows to flattery, and Kent is in essence telling Lear that his pride is getting the better of
him.
Another aspect of pride which appears in King Lear, as well as Webster s The Duchess of Malfi, is that
of the preoccupation with reputation and social status. In the latter play, it can be seen in Ferdinand s
speech to the Duchess in act III, scene ii, in which he tells her an allegorical story about reputation,
love, and death (See appendix). Given the Duke s choleric disposition and unnaturally obsessive
fixation on his sister s sexual activity, it is not altogether certain how far his speech is motivated by
pride and how much it is a product of another mortal sin (not treated here), lust. All the same, it is
indicative of an overall world view in which pride of place is woven into the social fabric of the time.
(Indeed, things are not so very different today, 400 years later Plus ca change...)
The Duchess offers up her own little allegorical tale at the end of act IV, scene iii in which she relates
the fable of the salmon and the dogfish to her murderer to be, Bosola (see appendix). This speech is
the perfect companion piece and point/counterpoint style retort to Ferdinand s paranoid parable.
Where Ferdinand casts death as a mere supporting character in his story, the Duchess more rightly
sees death, the net, as the great leveler, bringing an end to the foolish, proud scorn of great men for
those born

Compare And Contrast Anita Desai And Kamala Markandaya
Anita Desai is more interested in the interior landscape of the mind than in political and social
realities. Writing, for her is an effort to discover, and then to underline, and finally to convey the true
significance of things . Her novels according to her, deal with the terror of facing, single handed, the
ferocious assaults of existence. Anita Desai s protagonists are mostly women who, though they have
reached different stages in life from school girl to grandmother are all fragile introvert trapped in their
own skins. Their emotional trauma sometimes leads to violent death, in the end. As an artist Kamala
Markandaya s fiction is concerned with change in feminine sensibility brought about by the social,
economic and cultural forces, whereas Anita Desai s major concern is about exploration of the
psychological condition of the oppressed hyper sensitive women. The synoptic views of Anita Desai
and Kamala Markandaya s portray the women protagonists in terms of the shifting sensibilities and
changing attitudes of married Indian women. It also tries to analyze the portrayal of women characters
that belong to rural and urban upper classes of Indian society. As an artist Kamala Markandaya s

Bim is successful in attaining positive detachment when she learns to involve herself in action without
caring for its fruit. Earlier her vision was clouded by vagueness in the fact that she expected fruit for
her labour, for her sacrifice for the family in the form of gratitude. When she is not awarded this, she

The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
The Highlights and Themes: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
running one group for six months or longer seems quite exorbitant! The theme of this book was based
on an organizational approach to effective team building skills. The fable began by giving a brief
background of the cooperation, DecisionTech, Inc. which was what this story was centered around.
There was a new CEO, of the corporation, Kathryn, and her main task was to create effective
teamwork among her staff who were the key leaders of this company. After observing the interaction
and dialogue of all team members for several weeks, she finally decided to call an off site meeting and
invited her staff members to attend. The meeting was to take place just far enough to where ... Show

This fable was a great way to promote the importance of a team and its functions. This book had many
highlights throughout the context and I would highly recommend it to leaders of a corporation or of
that of a team like setting. This book offered many great implications of the model and how to use it in
many diverse settings when trying to build and manage successful teams.
The Implications for the Practice and the Future of Counseling: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
School counseling programs are designed to serve the school as a whole. They serve the students as
counselors, act as consultants to teachers, parents and administrators and coordinate activities to
implement the developmental guidance program. However, in order to have an effective program they
need to instill the qualities of Lencioni s model into their interaction with the individuals they serve.
The first item is to build trust among students, parents and school staff, so that they feel comfortable
coming to the counselors to address their issues or concerns. While confidentiality could be a
challenge working with minors, it should be kept as much as possible. They also need to feel that
when they meet with the school counselors that he or she has the individual s best interest in mind.
Once a rapport has been built, the counselors will be able to confront or address conflict with

Identification Of Unknown Amino Acid
Identification of Unknown Amino Acid
Measurements of Buffer Capacity
Student #: 998493250
Authors: Young, Lee Melissa
Abstract
The titration curve of the unknown exhibited many characteristics, such as equivalence points, pKa of
ionizable groups, isoelectric point, and buffer regions, that are particularly distinct to lysine. For
unclear reasons, the pH during the titration did not reach the pH for pure 0.2 M NaOH nor 0.2 M HCl
and normal equivalence points expected at two extreme ends of the titration curves for all amino acids
were not observed. The titration of a phosphate buffer showed that the buffer capacity is directly
proportional to the molarity of the buffer. However, our results showed that although the initial pH of
the phosphate buffer was less than the pKa value, the measured buffer capacity was higher towards
acid than base. The accuracy of the pH meter and calibration process was questioned under
assumptions that the pH of the prepared phosphate buffer was actually above pKa.
Introduction
The hydrogen ion (H+) concentration is extremely important to living organisms. Even small changes
in H+ ¬¬ion concentration can cause serious consequences to the structural and functional integrity of
molecules. Consequently, it is important to regulate the pH within strict limits so that important
biochemical processes of living systems can proceed normally.
Buffers play a crucial role in maintaining a relatively constant pH in living organisms.

Catholic And Baptist Similarities
Common Beliefs:
Catholic and Baptist are both denominations under the Christianity religion. Christianity is the religion
based on the teachings, beliefs, and practices of Jesus Christ. Both denominations base their beliefs on
the Word of God, the Holy Bible. They also both believe that there is only one God within three
people, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which is called the Trinity. This is connected to the
world today, because Catholic and Baptist Christianity are both very popular denominations of the
Christian faith and often people switch between them. So, though they have their similarities, they are
mostly different. Two main differences between Catholic and Baptist Christians is the idea and process
of salvation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catholics believe that there is a process for salvation throughout life that the believer must follow.
This involves doing good works and the use of sacraments throughout their life with final salvation in
the end. These sacraments involve infant baptism, the Mass, and Communion. Catholics believe
salvation is only reached at the end of a Christian s life, when the person finally enters heaven after
they are raised from the dead, this is when salvation occurs. On the other hand, Baptists believe that
salvation occurs in the believer s life. All they have to do is ask Jesus for forgiveness of their sins, then
in that instant, the believer is saved forever. This whole ideology is from the basis that Catholics
believe Jesus, himself offered his own life to resemble love which could accept all consequences of
everyone s sins whereas Baptists believe God was the ultimate decider and punished Jesus instead of
Christians so that they could be forgiven. On the right is a drawing of the moment when Jesus was
nailed to the cross which represents when His life was taken either because of his own sacrifice, or
because of God s punishment. So, the main difference between the idea salvation between Baptist and
Catholics is that Catholic s believe in salvation by works whereas Baptist believe in salvation through
faith in Christ, apart from works, (www.baptistcatholic.com). Also, after these believers die, Baptists
believe that if your sins are forgiven because you have been saved, then you go to Heaven and if not,
you go to Hell whereas Catholics also believe in the Purgatory. This is a place where Catholics believe
the soul of the person goes to become cleansed of their sins before they get to

Free Throw Shooting
Smart 2 Introduction: Free throw shooting is an art and skill which can affect the outcome of the
game. The true definition is a stand still uncontested shot that is placed fifteen feet or four and fifty
seven hundredths meters from the basketball hoop (Lowry,5/13/07). In a coach s mind free throws
should be automatic, a player should rarely miss a free throw. But as the game keeps evolving, the
fundamental of the free throw is being lost. There are plenty of things that go into the shot, first the
routine, then the balance, after that you look at the rim or sight your goal, and finally you shoot
(Timms, 10/6/08). If you are missing mechanics or balance it will throw off your shot, even changing
your routine can drop your free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A routine consists of dribbles, spins, and breaths, whatever someone s routine is it will only be
effective if they repeat it (Lowry,5/13/07). If you change your routine a couple times in one season it
can throw off your rhythm and drop your shot percentage. Rhythm follows routine because with the
routine comes rhythm. When the shooter repeats their routine for a long period of time the natural
rhythm flows into the shot and helps the percentage (McCormick, 2/10/10). Of all these three things,
none of them are the most important, one must repeat all of them to be considered a good free throw
shooter. Focusing during a free throw is one of the most key things you can do. With the game on the
line the shooter cannot be thinking about the pressure they must think about the shot and that s it.
When the crowd is yelling wildly the shooter must clear their mind and do what feels natural (Timms,
10/6/08). A free throw is shot from the same spot with no defensive pressure being the reason it is
called a FREE throw (McCormick, 2/10/10). When a free throw is missed it is the mechanics, rhythm,
or focus that went wrong. Coaches believe that free throws are inexcusable, even though there are
plenty of things that could go wrong that is why a true shooter repeats his routine and shot form every

Tommy John Surgery Research Paper
Turn on SportsCenter or Fox Sports during baseball season and you ll hear three words that used to
spark fear in the hearts of players, Tommy John surgery. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction
(UCLR) commonly known as Tommy John surgery, is performed on both recreational and high level
athletes, (Erickson, Nwachukwu, Rosas, Schairer, McCormick, Bach Jr, Romeo, 2015). This
procedure is commonly done on pitchers, because of the excessive use of their throwing arm, affecting
the elbow. The process consists of replacing a ligament in the elbow with a tendon from another area
of the body or from cadavers. When someone has Tommy John surgery they are no longer able to
participate in baseball for one year. However, with the advances in this medical procedure, it has
extended the careers of numerous pitchers, and in some cases improved their pitching. Due to the
possibility of enhanced results, a troubling trend has developed in youth baseball. Parents and coaches
are encouraging their players to go under the knife in their early teens just so they will not have to
worry about elbow issues in the future. High school players who are perfectly healthy are having this
procedure done at an alarming rate.

The Theory And Theory Of Psychology
Overview The practice of psychotherapy involves several approaches and different psychologists
often use different psychological theories to achieve their goals in treatment and interventions.
However, the combination of these psychological theories is important for the improvement of
psychoanalysis of patients and the treatment approaches used. This paper will, therefore, analyze three
psychological theories which include; attachment theory, control mastery theory and the object
relations theory. Additionally, the analysis will involve the combination of these three theories to
produce and integrated approach suitable for psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. The development of
the paper will involve stating the individual theories and their theorists, an explanation of each theory
and a combination of the three theories to improve the practice of psychology.
Attachment theory
Attachment involves the enduring emotions and deep bonds that an individual expresses to another
person based on time and space. The attachment theory in psychology was developed by a British
psychologist known as John Bowlby through his attempts to bring an understanding of the distress that
children face due to separation from their parents. The theory was developed by John Bowlby in 1958
following the professional time he had in the treatment of emotionally disturbed children in the Child
Guidance Clinic in London. The theory posits that the observed characteristics in children such as

Massachusetts Bay Colony Dbq Essay
The Puritans came to New England to escape persecution from the leadership of the Church of
England. They quickly established the Bible Commonwealth or a church government. Fur trading,
fishing, and shipbuilding allowed the Puritans Massachusetts Bay Colony to prosper economically.
Additionally, the importance of church and family was evident in close knit Puritan communities. The
migration of Puritans to the New World laid the foundation for the political, economic, and social
development of the New England colonies from 1630 through the 1660s.
The Puritans designed a theocracy with their government enforcing God s laws. The Enlarged Salem
Covenant of 1636 states the Puritans will willingly do nothing to the offence of the church while
obeying their rulers in the Bible Commonwealth (Document C). Governor John Winthrop called the

Analysis Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf
In The Death of The Moth by Virginia Woolf, we have a story about a moth that flies during the day
that eventually dies by the end of our story. The story of how the moth tries to beat death by always
moving and showing that he has life is one that is fought by all creatures. The way his wings are
yellow and the way they mix with the sun to show he is a day moth instead of a moth that we
commonly see at night is connected to how we ourselves dress ourselves as people that signify who
we are. The moth is pointed out to be a day moth instead of a night moth. The moth is depicted as
somewhere between a butterfly and a normal moth. Virginia Woolf makes an excellent story about
people and moths. In The Death of the Moth we see this who is fluttering outside the narrator s
window. We see how the moth, like everything else in the world, is soaking up the sun, which is also
heating its little body with life. The moth in this story is like every other living thing on the planet
earth. The moth wants to live and not die. This does not become apparent until later in the story. When
we see the moth finally land, and we understand that this is his last struggle against death. A way of
telling death that it could beat death. The moth struggles for what seems to be about a minute. The
moth eventually dies on the window sill and death finally beats down its victim. This represents how
many of people see someone on the street going about their everyday business, and nothing seems to

Reflective Essay On Slam Poetry
You learn something new every day, my father had always said to me. Whether it s a fact or something
you learned about yourself or others, the world has so much to teach you. When I was in seventh
grade, I lacked confidence in myself. I was scared of reading in front of others and messing up. I felt
like a mistake. I was terrible under pressure. I could always feel my heart pounding inside my chest
whenever I had to present a project in front of the class. I was like this until one of my favorite
teachers, Ms.Secko taught me lessons that I will never forgot. She taught me confidence and character.
One day, Ms.Secko assigned the class a project on slam poetry. I didn t even know what a slam poem
was until she explained it to us. A slam poem was a poem that was memorized and spoken in front of
an audience. As soon as I heard those words, my heart trembled a little. The project was composed of
several parts. First, you had to pick a poem that was more than 16 lines and memorize it. Second, you
had to answer 4 questions about why you chose the poem. Then, you had to make a visual
representation on how you interpreted it. Last but not least, you had to present to poem to your
classmates without looking on a reference sheet of the poem. It was a lot of work. But we had plenty
of time to work on it. At first, I doubted myself. There was no way I could possibly memorize
something AND present it in front of the class all by myself. I felt hopeless. It took me hours to search
for a poem online. I looked on almost every poem site known to man but I just couldn t find one that
spoke to me. I asked my dad if he knew any good poems. He said that I should perform his favorite
poem, If by Rudyard Kipling. The poem was colossal. It looked like it could fill a football stadium
because it was so lengthy. I carefully read over the poem and realized how important its message was.
I was really intrigued by the line, If you could meet with Triumph and Disasters and treat those two
imposters just the same. It made me think a little about what the poem could mean. It took me a while
but I figured out its meaning. It means that you treat your successes and shortcomings the same way.
You shouldn t be too

Essay On Blindness In Oedipus
Oedipus inner blindness led him to his downfall by his bad temper, being naive and his pride. Having
a serious temper causes a lot of problems and conflicts with others. A temper can a negative effect on

negatives outcomes from having a temper tantrum. Being angry without control can cause you to harm
others. Oedipus should ve tried to control his anger.
This was a big essential to his character downfall causing this to be a tragic flaw. Because of having a
serious temper people won t ask to do anything with you or invite you to anything with them flaws.

The three consequences of the constitution are: the right of individuals enjoy such strong legal
protections that at times they frustrate the will of the majority, the obstacles placed in the way of

it difficult to pass legislation, it has created a system that is sufficiently flexible to meet the country s

Comparative Essay Compare And Contrast Lord Of The Rings
For this comparative essay I decided to take on the task of a very famous book trilogy that came out in
the 1950 s, Lord of the rings. Due to the fact that this novel is very lengthy in lore and story I will give
the assumption that you are familiar with the story and world. As I watched the movies and read the
books of Lord of the rings, I have noticed many things that were changed and deleted from the
original story. most changes that were made ranged from small to large. Out of all of these changes I
have seen one that stuck out the most and that is the personality of the hobbits and other characters. In
the books the hobbits are portrayed as very level headed and very mindful, but as many people know

this would make the story itself very different depending how you chose to learn the it, either by book

characters at one time. In the book trilogy each story is following its own set of characters meaning
there is a lot of suspense build up since there are many characters that you don t know the
whereabouts of for quite sometime. this change to the story timeline was most likely made to make the
movie series more interesting as it follows all the characters at once keeping the audience s attention.
Though many changes were made between the book and the movie ( even though that is expected of
most movie adaptations of books) I personally enjoyed both renditions of the story. I would
recommend to others that they read Lord of the rings and then watch the movie because it gives an
interesting twist in the way they intertwine the stories together. all in all I found this assignment and

Roaring 20 s Use Of Hindsight In The Great Depression
The problem with comprehension is, it often comes too late. Rasmenia Massoud is talking here about
what is called hindsight. Hindsight is the way in which you can understand a situation only after it has
happened or developed. When looking at history, we use a lot of hindsight. In the case of the Roaring
20 s turning into the Great Depression, we can see in hindsight that there were many extraneous and
careless occurrences in the 20s that spawned the Great Depression whereas during the 20s we didn t
see this. We can now use hindsight to see that these detrimental factors stemmed from the stock
market, the government, and society at the time. At the time, things seemed great but we can see now
that they inflicted a lot of burden later on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
President Warren Harding and President Calvin Coolidge were the Presidents during the roaring 20s
and they favored large businesses and helped those businesses by making tax cuts that encouraged
business expansion. While the rising of these big businesses did help in decreasing unemployment,
they also played a role in the increase of the cost of living. This higher cost of living made the Great
Depression worse. Another lapse of judgement by the government pertained to both the stock market
and the federal banking system. In the 20 s banks were allowed to invest in land and the stock market
with very little government regulations. The banks were using the people s money to invest in unstable
and unpredictable endeavors. When the stock market crashed, the banks had no money to give back to
the people who stored their money in the banks.
Society in America also helped unknowingly cause the Great Depression. In the 1920s manufacturing
and agricultural advancements in technology caused the increase in efficiency in production. This
seemed to be a great thing, however there wasn t enough demand of these products to keep up with the
rapid production because people weren t making enough money. The leftover supply of these goods
increased dramatically while the income for the farmers stayed low. It set rural, farm areas up to

However, it is recognized that there is still a lot of ill health that is related to diseases of poverty and
ignorance. Of the six WHO regions in the world, the African Region bears the heaviest burden of
disease (WHO, 2000). Effective and efficient implementation of national and local policies can
reverse this trend. Indeed, the world press (2008) opined that a critical challenge for countries in
Africa is to move from policy to action in the health service delivery. This move from policy to action
should be grounded on each country addressing its priority health needs and mobilizing its people to
improve the state of health service delivery at personal and community levels.
According to a World Bank report, Sri Lanka has achieved a remarkable health service delivery as a
result of devolution (World Bank 2010). This has been attributed to successful implementation of a
credible budget constraint for the hospital; reform to strengthen the accountability of managers for the

Analysis OfAll Quiet On The Western Front, By Erich Maria...
With WWI came a generation of young men that were lost forever, regardless if they exited in a
coffin. In Erich Maria Remarque s landmark novel All Quiet on the Western Front , he illustrates the
everyday hell soldier s face fishing in the battlefields of WWI. The novel, Paul Baumer, is a foot
soldier fighting for the German army; he shares a first hand account of the war s atrocities on himself
and his comrades in arms. In the novel, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, the
author reveals the horrifying yet calmness between the main characters of the story, and his
relationship to the first industrialized war between Germany and others through the use of a variety of
literary elements to emphasize the impact of the war on young men as well as employing imagery to
appeal to the readers senses to illustrate how the war changed boys into men of the lost generation.
Erich Maria Remarque utilizes morbid imagery in order to teach readers how is war is vile and putrid.
Early on the soldiers get acquainted to sounds of war when ear piercing screams come from fatally
wounded horses that fell victim to enemy artillery fire. The author creates this imagery But this
appalling noise, these groans and screams penetrate, they penetrate everywhere. (Remarque 62)
Remarque creates a noise that can t be forgotten and really displays the effect it has on the soldiers
even after the horses have perished. Another example of imagery is the smell of the freshly made

Skeletal Muscle Contraction
Neuromuscular junctions play a key role in skeletal muscle contractions, and they consist of axon
terminals, synaptic clefts, and junctional folds. The contraction begins with the arrival of a nerve
impulse at an axon terminal which causes acetylcholine (ACh) to be released into the synaptic cleft.
ACh then diffuses across the synaptic cleft and binds with receptors on the sarcolemma of skeletal
muscles. This binding creates electrical events that allow an action potential through muscle fiber
which causes a muscle contraction. However, normal communication between a muscle and nerve can
be interrupted due to the neurological disorder, myasthenia gravis. In Latin and Greek, Myasthenia
gravis means grave muscle weakness, (fact sheet). As stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A study was conducted from January 2005 to January 2010 in order to determine if the presence of
myasthenia gravis affected the prognosis of patients that underwent an extended thymectomy. The
study consisted of 104 patients (61 men, 43 women, and 38 of these patients had myasthenia gravis
with the average age being about 55 years old) with thymoma. According to Zhefeng et. al.,
myasthenia gravis complicates a significant amount of thymomas, and the primary treatment method
for thymomas are extended thymectomies (2016). 11 patients faced a reappearance of a thymoma or
suffered to respiratory failure due to myasthenia gravis during this five year study period. The survival
rate for patients with myasthenia gravis was 76%, and 89.1% in patients without myasthenia gravis. In
conclusion, patients with thymomas and myasthenia gravis had a poorer prognosis than patients with
thymomas without myasthenia gravis (Zhefeng et al.). Another study was conducted from 1999 to
2014 to describe the outcomes of patients with myasthenia gravis that had gone through a

Descriptive Essay About A Beach
It was late March during Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, our famous tourist season which dubbed
my city Fort Liquor dale to the college crowd. The beaches were bustling with cars from out of state
and lively with snowbirds basking at the ocean s edge with oily, sunburned bodies in colorful bathing
suits, and wet, clinging trunks soaking up the last few rays before the sunset. Steven called from the
escort agency late one afternoon and informed me that a young, recently married college couple had
requested a female escort to come to their oceanfront hotel room on Fort Lauderdale beach. He told
me the husband said my service will be for his wife as a honeymoon gift. The young husband also
indicated he would like to watch his wife introduced to some domination with a spanking if he had
anyone who knew what to do. My first assumptions were that the couple was rich and the two of them
were used to expensive, kinky fun, or maybe they had agreed to be swingers and this was a way to
break the ice. At ten o clock in the evening, I knocked on their hotel room s door. I carried a tote bag.
A pretty girl with long, wavy blonde hair still wet from the shower, turquoise eyes, and a shapely,
Barbie Doll model type figure in her early twenties answered the door. She ushered me to the coral
flowered sofa and asked what I d like to drink, either vodka or merlot. She introduced herself as
Brooke and said her husband s name was Rudy. Rudy stood up from his chair to shake my hand. I

Sex Relationships And Relationships Between Children And...
While it is possible for men and women to be victims of intimate partner abuse, the vast majority of
the available research focuses on women as the victims and men as the aggressors. The challenge is
that in identifying the many variables and results of abusive relationships, the data can be skewed to
favor one gender over another, and there needs to be more study into same sex relationships and
partner abuse and heterosexual relationships where the female is the aggressor and the male is the
victim. With that said, there is much that is currently being done for those who are in abusive
relationships, with perhaps the most important task being preventing relationship violence (Hays et al.,
2015). Introducing programs across the country that are specifically for students can help reduce the
incidence of domestic violence and identify those who are at risk for entering into an abusive
relationship (Hays et al., 2015).
Current trends in domestic violence Currently group therapy and getting the victim into a safe house
are the most used tools to help the victims of abusive relationships but this one size fits all model is
not universally successful in prevention and treatment (Lothstein, 2015; Nicholas, 2013). Group
sessions have been shown to be extremely effective in increasing knowledge and awareness of all
types of relationship violence while increasing the opportunity to have conversations on such topics in
many settings (Hays et al., 2015). For as effective as therapy

Another problem with A.I. making decisions in the military is that it would change the landscape of
how warfare is fought. Robots lacking the emotional factor makes decisions and actions dangerous
because there will no longer be the empathy when taking lives, which creates a greater separation
between combatants and enemies (Bekey). As a result, the attitude toward wars could change because
humans would no longer have to see death or destruction caused by war, it would no longer be

While experts disagree with how many jobs will be lost due to intelligent machines, most experts
would at least agree that jobs will greatly be impacted by automation becoming more prevalent in all
fields of the labor force. In society, there is already a much wider range of application of machine
intelligence to tasks traditionally done by humans than many people realize (Cameron 14). Labor has
already started going down in some workplaces where automation has taking over and reports from
Bloomberg believe that machines could, replace up to have the US workforce within the next decade

current recession and depression of the thirties would look like a joke when compared. Humans could
become obsolete in the workforce. General A.I. could decide that humans are not as effective as robots

computers and that are propagating through network and server without the knowledge of
administrator. Another problem is in uploading the whole and accurate data of staff, students and
admin data from remote location. Web site works on different types of login, students and staff only

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Florence Kelley s Speech For...
Rhetorical Analysis Essay Florence Kelley, who was a former social worker, and successfully fought
for child labor laws, delivered a speech concerning the labor of children at that time. Before the
National American Women Suffrage Association, in Philadelphia on July 22, 1905 she talks about how
child labor is wrong, and children shouldn t be doing the work of adults. Kelley also explains the
hours the children work, and how people (at that time) should stand up for them. Kelley uses pathos,
logos, and repetition to persuade the audience. In her speech the one rhetorical device that stands out
the most is pathos. Kelley makes the audience feel guilt with the way she explains the children s
experiences. ...Children under the age of 16 years old who are earning their bread. In this example she
makes it clear that no child should earn their bread under no circumstances. Little beasts of burden,
robbed of school life that they may work for us. In this quote Kelley shows how the children, and their
lives are affected by the work that they are doing for the adults. ... Show more content on

Pain And Treatment Of Pain
Pain
Pain can be defined in three different forms. The initial and the minimal contact with the damaging
stimuli can be described as the warning for the physiological protective system. This initial stage is
called the nociceptive pain. The warning system demands immediate response and causes immediate
withdrawal from the painful or damaging stimulus (Woolf 1).Second type of pain is called
inflammatory pain, this type of pain activates when the person feels the pain and it is necessary to heal
the injured tissues. Pain tenderness and hypersensitivity reduces future risk for the damage and side by
side promotes recovery (Woolf 1).The third and last type of pain is not protective in fact it is
maladaptive. This is known as pathological pain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Woolf the mind also perceive false signals for pain (Woolf 1). The feeling of pain is
essential for survival. Pain is the first indicator of any tissue injury. Any stimulus that results in injury
or wound leads to a sensation of pain, heat, cold, the pressure, the electric current, the chemical
irritants and even the sudden movements. Unlike other sensory systems, however, the sensory system
to the pain is extremely broad; a painful sensation can be started in any part of the body or the central
nervous system (CNS). Various locations are paired to various kinds of sensations of pain (Fields 10).
Your perception is clearly a rich and multidimensional experience, which varies so much in quality as
in sensory intensity, as well as in their affective motivational characteristics. Without doubt, the
feeling of pain is an important field domain of human experience and perhaps that you have,
continuously and with more success, eluded numerous attempts at conceptualization consistent
quantification, or even systematic documentation, for generations of specialists of different areas of
knowledge. Its complexity and multidimensional nature, which are evident even in the elementary
analysis of the various types of pain, have virtually blocked the development of an adequate definition
of pain that is the more important, hampered the construction of a General theory of the pain, as well

without hard work we would not be as happy as we are now. One of the experiences was my Dad and

The Red Dress And The Lesson Summary
Dissatisfaction with Societal Roles in The Red Dress and The Lesson The two short stories, The Red
Dress and The Lesson, explore assigned roles in society and in the world. People cannot determine the
family they are born into and the labels that come from that. In both of the stories, the protagonists are
living in unhappy situations. Both girls are navigating a maze of anger and insecurity, and they do not
understand why. In The Lesson one girl deals with the societal problem of poverty. She is dealing with
society and her position on the economic ladder where choices seem limited. In contrast, the girl in

Gender In Victorianism

Victorianism
Victorianism is the cultural influence orchestrated by the reign of Queen Victoria from the year 1837
to the year 1901. The dominant notions of these times were moralizing, prudish, repressed and old
fashion, as opposed to traditional. The above elements of culture traversed across the English society
to other parts of America, influencing how people dressed and celebrated. The central ideas of
Victorianism emerged during the period of early Victorianism. Significant developments during this
period included science, economics, and social lifestyle. In terms of politics, there was the
introduction of democracy and parliamentary system of governance. This was also the time that the
Anglicanism, through the Church of England stroke a balance with other Catholic communities. The
dominant social values during the period of Victorianism were patriarchal families and well defined
roles of mothers and fathers.
Construction of gender during Victorianism. Prior to the Victorianism period, the roles of men and
women had no specific definition. Victorianism brought a sharp definition of gender roles with father
specializing in specific tasks different from mothers. Formerly, the women and men could easily work
alongside each other. During the onset of Victorianism, many men got into formal employment that
entailed traveling long distances to work in different professions. Men left behind their wives at home

Positive And Negative Effects On Colonial America
Julia DeVincenzo Between the sixteenth and mid eighteenth century, Tokuwaga Japan and the
colonization of America by Spain led the world in silver production. The increase in silver prompted
an extensive variety of consequences. Silver mining became extremely popular especially during
Ming China, where it was used as currency, in which all domestic taxes and trade fees were to be paid
in. Although silver served as a great way to facilitate trade, the increase in demand led to social
disputes and a decline in the economies of many countries. Based on the documents, the rapid incline
in demand for silver proved to have both positive and negative effects on colonial America, Japan,
China, and the world around them. Contrary to most Chinese thoughts, the production of silver hurt
the economy of Ming China. Document 3, for example, states that the scarcity of the silver coin is
what s damaging the harvests. Wang Xijue, a court official, believes there is too much silver being
used for taxes, that there is not enough left to care for the plantations. He Qiaoyuan, also a Ming court
official, describes how much profit the country could make if it opened up its doors to trade with the
Europeans (document 7). However, the unregulated flow of silver into Ming China ultimately hurt the
economy. With similar beliefs to that of Xijue, Ye Chunji, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

  • 2. Paley s Arguments On The Existence Of God My argument and ideas are based on parts of Thomas Aquinas and William Paley s arguments on the existence of God. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion. Does God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual journeys. The existence of God is provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the proof of possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God exists. The natural world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the transcendent personal cause of the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning. Therefore, nothing caused God. All humans have attempted to find the answers to the great questions of life. Like where did I come from or what is wrong with me and the world? We all seek answers, we all want wrongs to be set right, and we all yearn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inanimate objects are soulless things like rocks, land, and sand. Animate things are people, animals, and plants. There is something in us as animate things that cause or stop us to feel wrong about something even if there are no consequences. This is similar to a human feeling shameful or guilty of being fearful of death. Parents don t teach babies all right and wrongs there is no law for them, they are born with the intelligence of judgment or sense of wrong and right which isn t taught. Even if there were no laws in the world, there would be hesitation (consciousness) inside you, which may sway your decisions and actions. Governance is driven toward the end or goal which is happiness. Whether it s the course of good means or bad means it may drive to the end or it may not. Inanimate things have to direct to its proper end or function. Therefore God directs all natural things to order and to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Comparison of Pride in King Lear and The Duchess of... The Sin of Pride Exposed in King Lear, and The Duchess of Malfi In this brief monograph, we shall be hunting down and examining various creatures from the bestiary of Medieval/Renaissance thought. Among these are the fierce lion of imperious, egotistical power, a pair of fantastic peacocks, one of vanity, one of preening social status, and the docile lamb of humility. The lion and the peacocks are of the species known as pride, while the lamb is of an entirely different, in fact antithetical race, that of humility and forgiveness. The textual regions we shall be exploring include the diverse expanses, from palace to heath, of William Shakespeare, the dark, sinister Italy of John Webster, and the perfumed lady s chambers of Ben ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only pride bows to flattery, and Kent is in essence telling Lear that his pride is getting the better of him. Another aspect of pride which appears in King Lear, as well as Webster s The Duchess of Malfi, is that of the preoccupation with reputation and social status. In the latter play, it can be seen in Ferdinand s speech to the Duchess in act III, scene ii, in which he tells her an allegorical story about reputation, love, and death (See appendix). Given the Duke s choleric disposition and unnaturally obsessive fixation on his sister s sexual activity, it is not altogether certain how far his speech is motivated by pride and how much it is a product of another mortal sin (not treated here), lust. All the same, it is indicative of an overall world view in which pride of place is woven into the social fabric of the time. (Indeed, things are not so very different today, 400 years later Plus ca change...) The Duchess offers up her own little allegorical tale at the end of act IV, scene iii in which she relates the fable of the salmon and the dogfish to her murderer to be, Bosola (see appendix). This speech is the perfect companion piece and point/counterpoint style retort to Ferdinand s paranoid parable. Where Ferdinand casts death as a mere supporting character in his story, the Duchess more rightly sees death, the net, as the great leveler, bringing an end to the foolish, proud scorn of great men for those born ... • 4. Compare And Contrast Anita Desai And Kamala Markandaya Anita Desai is more interested in the interior landscape of the mind than in political and social realities. Writing, for her is an effort to discover, and then to underline, and finally to convey the true significance of things . Her novels according to her, deal with the terror of facing, single handed, the ferocious assaults of existence. Anita Desai s protagonists are mostly women who, though they have reached different stages in life from school girl to grandmother are all fragile introvert trapped in their own skins. Their emotional trauma sometimes leads to violent death, in the end. As an artist Kamala Markandaya s fiction is concerned with change in feminine sensibility brought about by the social, economic and cultural forces, whereas Anita Desai s major concern is about exploration of the psychological condition of the oppressed hyper sensitive women. The synoptic views of Anita Desai and Kamala Markandaya s portray the women protagonists in terms of the shifting sensibilities and changing attitudes of married Indian women. It also tries to analyze the portrayal of women characters that belong to rural and urban upper classes of Indian society. As an artist Kamala Markandaya s fiction is concerned with ... Earlier her vision was clouded by vagueness in the fact that she expected fruit for her labour, for her sacrifice for the family in the form of gratitude. When she is not awarded this, she develops hatred for her loved ones and suffers from frustration as a result. But in the end she forgives everyone for their betrayal and as a consequence attains her own serenity and poise. She develops a healthy attitude towards her life and accepts the world as it ... • 5. The Five Dysfunctions of a Team The Highlights and Themes: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team running one group for six months or longer seems quite exorbitant! The Implications for the Practice and the Future of Counseling: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team School counseling programs are designed to serve the school as a whole. They serve the students as counselors, act as consultants to teachers, parents and administrators and coordinate activities to implement the developmental guidance program. However, in order to have an effective program they need to instill the qualities of Lencioni s model into their interaction with the individuals they serve. The first item is to build trust among students, parents and school staff, so that they feel comfortable coming to the counselors to address their issues or concerns. While confidentiality could be a challenge working with minors, it should be kept as much as possible. They also need to feel that when they meet with the school counselors that he or she has the individual s best interest in mind. • 6. Identification Of Unknown Amino Acid Identification of Unknown Amino Acid Measurements of Buffer Capacity Student #: 998493250 Authors: Young, Lee Melissa Abstract The titration curve of the unknown exhibited many characteristics, such as equivalence points, pKa of ionizable groups, isoelectric point, and buffer regions, that are particularly distinct to lysine. For unclear reasons, the pH during the titration did not reach the pH for pure 0.2 M NaOH nor 0.2 M HCl and normal equivalence points expected at two extreme ends of the titration curves for all amino acids were not observed. The titration of a phosphate buffer showed that the buffer capacity is directly proportional to the molarity of the buffer. However, our results showed that although the initial pH of the phosphate buffer was less than the pKa value, the measured buffer capacity was higher towards acid than base. The accuracy of the pH meter and calibration process was questioned under assumptions that the pH of the prepared phosphate buffer was actually above pKa. Introduction The hydrogen ion (H+) concentration is extremely important to living organisms. Even small changes in H+ ¬¬ion concentration can cause serious consequences to the structural and functional integrity of molecules. Consequently, it is important to regulate the pH within strict limits so that important biochemical processes of living systems can proceed normally. Buffers play a crucial role in maintaining a relatively constant pH in living organisms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christianity is the religion based on the teachings, beliefs, and practices of Jesus Christ. Both denominations base their beliefs on the Word of God, the Holy Bible. They also both believe that there is only one God within three people, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which is called the Trinity. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catholics believe that there is a process for salvation throughout life that the believer must follow. This involves doing good works and the use of sacraments throughout their life with final salvation in the end. These sacraments involve infant baptism, the Mass, and Communion. Catholics believe salvation is only reached at the end of a Christian s life, when the person finally enters heaven after they are raised from the dead, this is when salvation occurs. On the other hand, Baptists believe that salvation occurs in the believer s life. All they have to do is ask Jesus for forgiveness of their sins, then in that instant, the believer is saved forever. This whole ideology is from the basis that Catholics believe Jesus, himself offered his own life to resemble love which could accept all consequences of everyone s sins whereas Baptists believe God was the ultimate decider and punished Jesus instead of Christians so that they could be forgiven. On the right is a drawing of the moment when Jesus was nailed to the cross which represents when His life was taken either because of his own sacrifice, or because of God s punishment. So, the main difference between the idea salvation between Baptist and Catholics is that Catholic s believe in salvation by works whereas Baptist believe in salvation through faith in Christ, apart from works, (www.baptistcatholic.com). Also, after these believers die, Baptists believe that if your sins are forgiven because you have been saved, then you go to Heaven and if not, you go to Hell whereas Catholics also believe in the Purgatory. • 8. Free Throw Shooting Smart 2 Introduction: Free throw shooting is an art and skill which can affect the outcome of the game. The true definition is a stand still uncontested shot that is placed fifteen feet or four and fifty seven hundredths meters from the basketball hoop (Lowry,5/13/07). In a coach s mind free throws should be automatic, a player should rarely miss a free throw. But as the game keeps evolving, the fundamental of the free throw is being lost. There are plenty of things that go into the shot, first the routine, then the balance, after that you look at the rim or sight your goal, and finally you shoot (Timms, 10/6/08). If you are missing mechanics or balance it will throw off your shot, even changing your routine can drop your free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A routine consists of dribbles, spins, and breaths, whatever someone s routine is it will only be effective if they repeat it (Lowry,5/13/07). If you change your routine a couple times in one season it can throw off your rhythm and drop your shot percentage. Rhythm follows routine because with the routine comes rhythm. When the shooter repeats their routine for a long period of time the natural rhythm flows into the shot and helps the percentage (McCormick, 2/10/10). Of all these three things, none of them are the most important, one must repeat all of them to be considered a good free throw shooter. Focusing during a free throw is one of the most key things you can do. With the game on the line the shooter cannot be thinking about the pressure they must think about the shot and that s it. When the crowd is yelling wildly the shooter must clear their mind and do what feels natural (Timms, 10/6/08). A free throw is shot from the same spot with no defensive pressure being the reason it is called a FREE throw (McCormick, 2/10/10). When a free throw is missed it is the mechanics, rhythm, or focus that went wrong. Coaches believe that free throws are inexcusable, even though there are plenty of things that could go wrong that is why a true shooter repeats his routine and shot form every ... Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (UCLR) commonly known as Tommy John surgery, is performed on both recreational and high level athletes, (Erickson, Nwachukwu, Rosas, Schairer, McCormick, Bach Jr, Romeo, 2015). This procedure is commonly done on pitchers, because of the excessive use of their throwing arm, affecting the elbow. The process consists of replacing a ligament in the elbow with a tendon from another area of the body or from cadavers. When someone has Tommy John surgery they are no longer able to participate in baseball for one year. However, with the advances in this medical procedure, it has extended the careers of numerous pitchers, and in some cases improved their pitching. Due to the possibility of enhanced results, a troubling trend has developed in youth baseball. Parents and coaches are encouraging their players to go under the knife in their early teens just so they will not have to worry about elbow issues in the future. The story of how the moth tries to beat death by always moving and showing that he has life is one that is fought by all creatures. The way his wings are yellow and the way they mix with the sun to show he is a day moth instead of a moth that we commonly see at night is connected to how we ourselves dress ourselves as people that signify who we are. The moth is pointed out to be a day moth instead of a night moth. The moth is depicted as somewhere between a butterfly and a normal moth. Virginia Woolf makes an excellent story about people and moths. In The Death of the Moth we see this who is fluttering outside the narrator s window. We see how the moth, like everything else in the world, is soaking up the sun, which is also heating its little body with life. The moth in this story is like every other living thing on the planet earth. The moth wants to live and not die. This does not become apparent until later in the story. When we see the moth finally land, and we understand that this is his last struggle against death. A way of telling death that it could beat death. The moth struggles for what seems to be about a minute. The moth eventually dies on the window sill and death finally beats down its victim. • 13. Reflective Essay On Slam Poetry You learn something new every day, my father had always said to me. Whether it s a fact or something you learned about yourself or others, the world has so much to teach you. When I was in seventh grade, I lacked confidence in myself. I was scared of reading in front of others and messing up. I felt like a mistake. I was terrible under pressure. I could always feel my heart pounding inside my chest whenever I had to present a project in front of the class. I was like this until one of my favorite teachers, Ms.Secko taught me lessons that I will never forgot. She taught me confidence and character. One day, Ms.Secko assigned the class a project on slam poetry. I didn t even know what a slam poem was until she explained it to us. A slam poem was a poem that was memorized and spoken in front of an audience. As soon as I heard those words, my heart trembled a little. The project was composed of several parts. First, you had to pick a poem that was more than 16 lines and memorize it. Second, you had to answer 4 questions about why you chose the poem. Then, you had to make a visual representation on how you interpreted it. Last but not least, you had to present to poem to your classmates without looking on a reference sheet of the poem. It was a lot of work. But we had plenty of time to work on it. At first, I doubted myself. There was no way I could possibly memorize something AND present it in front of the class all by myself. I felt hopeless. It took me hours to search for a poem online. I looked on almost every poem site known to man but I just couldn t find one that spoke to me. I asked my dad if he knew any good poems. He said that I should perform his favorite poem, If by Rudyard Kipling. The poem was colossal. It looked like it could fill a football stadium because it was so lengthy. I carefully read over the poem and realized how important its message was. I was really intrigued by the line, If you could meet with Triumph and Disasters and treat those two imposters just the same. It made me think a little about what the poem could mean. It took me a while but I figured out its meaning. It means that you treat your successes and shortcomings the same way. You shouldn t be too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the case of the Roaring 20 s turning into the Great Depression, we can see in hindsight that there were many extraneous and careless occurrences in the 20s that spawned the Great Depression whereas during the 20s we didn t see this. This higher cost of living made the Great Depression worse. Another lapse of judgement by the government pertained to both the stock market and the federal banking system. In the 20 s banks were allowed to invest in land and the stock market with very little government regulations. The beaches were bustling with cars from out of state and lively with snowbirds basking at the ocean s edge with oily, sunburned bodies in colorful bathing suits, and wet, clinging trunks soaking up the last few rays before the sunset. Steven called from the escort agency late one afternoon and informed me that a young, recently married college couple had requested a female escort to come to their oceanfront hotel room on Fort Lauderdale beach. He told me the husband said my service will be for his wife as a honeymoon gift. The young husband also indicated he would like to watch his wife introduced to some domination with a spanking if he had anyone who knew what to do. My first assumptions were that the couple was rich and the two of them were used to expensive, kinky fun, or maybe they had agreed to be swingers and this was a way to break the ice. At ten o clock in the evening, I knocked on their hotel room s door. I carried a tote bag. A pretty girl with long, wavy blonde hair still wet from the shower, turquoise eyes, and a shapely, Barbie Doll model type figure in her early twenties answered the door. She ushered me to the coral flowered sofa and asked what I d like to drink, either vodka or merlot. She introduced herself as Brooke and said her husband s name was Rudy. • 26. Climate Change And Its Effect On Business Intro: This report will aim to define responsible business, in relation to the vast range of topics such as Corporate social Responsibility/Corporate Citizenship, sustainability, whilst comparing these through academia and their different meanings relating to Responsible Business. Furthermore, this report will also aim to critically analyse climate change and its effect in relation to making Business more responsible as well as the drawbacks/opportunities this holds for business. Finally, this report will exploit the relation between government and Business; identify possible barriers for businesses through government via academic views and evidential impacts on businesses and how government supports business to create a more sustainable world, through incentives such as the climate change Act 2008. According to Dahlsrud`s model which focuses on the five identified dimensions, which were concluded from the analysis of 37 defintions relating to CSR which are namely, environmental, social, economic, stakeholder and voluntariness. The PDF article titled, How Corporate Social Responsibility is Defined: an Analysis of 37 Definitions , Dahlsrud concluded that the confusion is not so much about how CSR is defined, as about how CSR is socially constructed in a specific context. (Dahlsrud, 2006) . Thus, Dahslrud suggests CSR is based on the five dimensions in his model which must be applied and carried out by companies for a business to act responsibly and ethically in a social ... • 27. Sex Relationships And Relationships Between Children And... While it is possible for men and women to be victims of intimate partner abuse, the vast majority of the available research focuses on women as the victims and men as the aggressors. The challenge is that in identifying the many variables and results of abusive relationships, the data can be skewed to favor one gender over another, and there needs to be more study into same sex relationships and partner abuse and heterosexual relationships where the female is the aggressor and the male is the victim. With that said, there is much that is currently being done for those who are in abusive relationships, with perhaps the most important task being preventing relationship violence (Hays et al., 2015). Introducing programs across the country that are specifically for students can help reduce the incidence of domestic violence and identify those who are at risk for entering into an abusive relationship (Hays et al., 2015). Current trends in domestic violence Currently group therapy and getting the victim into a safe house are the most used tools to help the victims of abusive relationships but this one size fits all model is not universally successful in prevention and treatment (Lothstein, 2015; Nicholas, 2013). Group sessions have been shown to be extremely effective in increasing knowledge and awareness of all types of relationship violence while increasing the opportunity to have conversations on such topics in many settings (Hays et al., 2015). • 28. Dystopian World Problems Another problem with A.I. making decisions in the military is that it would change the landscape of how warfare is fought. Robots lacking the emotional factor makes decisions and actions dangerous because there will no longer be the empathy when taking lives, which creates a greater separation between combatants and enemies (Bekey). As a result, the attitude toward wars could change because humans would no longer have to see death or destruction caused by war, it would no longer be something considered so horrible because it s out of sight out of mind. Much like video games have desensitized individuals to killing because they know it is not real nor feel the pain or agony associated with war. This would unfortunately make waging war between ... While experts disagree with how many jobs will be lost due to intelligent machines, most experts would at least agree that jobs will greatly be impacted by automation becoming more prevalent in all fields of the labor force. In society, there is already a much wider range of application of machine intelligence to tasks traditionally done by humans than many people realize (Cameron 14). Labor has already started going down in some workplaces where automation has taking over and reports from Bloomberg believe that machines could, replace up to have the US workforce within the next decade or two (Cameron, Peterson 15). This would clearly create an unemployment situation where the current recession and depression of the thirties would look like a joke when compared. Humans could become obsolete in the workforce. General A.I. could decide that humans are not as effective as robots in the workplace and would possibly decide to have machines replace all humans job tasks. The economy would change drastically as a result of huge numbers of unemployment. • 30. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Florence Kelley s Speech For... Rhetorical Analysis Essay Florence Kelley, who was a former social worker, and successfully fought for child labor laws, delivered a speech concerning the labor of children at that time. Before the National American Women Suffrage Association, in Philadelphia on July 22, 1905 she talks about how child labor is wrong, and children shouldn t be doing the work of adults. Kelley also explains the hours the children work, and how people (at that time) should stand up for them. Kelley uses pathos, logos, and repetition to persuade the audience. In her speech the one rhetorical device that stands out the most is pathos. Kelley makes the audience feel guilt with the way she explains the children s experiences. ...Children under the age of 16 years old who are earning their bread. In this example she makes it clear that no child should earn their bread under no circumstances. Little beasts of burden, robbed of school life that they may work for us. • 31. Pain And Treatment Of Pain Pain Pain can be defined in three different forms. The initial and the minimal contact with the damaging stimuli can be described as the warning for the physiological protective system. This initial stage is called the nociceptive pain. The warning system demands immediate response and causes immediate withdrawal from the painful or damaging stimulus (Woolf 1).Second type of pain is called inflammatory pain, this type of pain activates when the person feels the pain and it is necessary to heal the injured tissues. Pain tenderness and hypersensitivity reduces future risk for the damage and side by side promotes recovery (Woolf 1).The third and last type of pain is not protective in fact it is maladaptive. He has helped me to become truthful. These experiences have shown me that lying gets you nowhere in life. Also has helped me to be on time and arrive at least 20 or 30 minutes early. One of the other ones were that hard work pays off in the end because without hard work we would not be as happy as we are now. One of the experiences was my Dad and me riding our dirt bikes together .The trail my dad took me on that was probably the scariest was at Kelly Canyon. I was 9 years old and had only been on a dirt bike a handful of times. I didn t know how to ride very well. It was super hard for me to get up the hills but on this particular ride coming down was even worse.. It had started to hail and rain really hard. The trail became really slick and muddy. There was a huge cliff to my left and swear I thought I was going to die. I wrecked so many times. Going over my handlebars once and laying my bike down several times. I thought we would never get off that hill. In crazy times likes this it is best to just take a deep breath and know you have what it takes to do it. • 38. Positive And Negative Effects On Colonial America Julia DeVincenzo Between the sixteenth and mid eighteenth century, Tokuwaga Japan and the colonization of America by Spain led the world in silver production. The increase in silver prompted an extensive variety of consequences. Silver mining became extremely popular especially during Ming China, where it was used as currency, in which all domestic taxes and trade fees were to be paid in. Although silver served as a great way to facilitate trade, the increase in demand led to social disputes and a decline in the economies of many countries. Based on the documents, the rapid incline in demand for silver proved to have both positive and negative effects on colonial America, Japan, China, and the world around them. Contrary to most Chinese thoughts, the production of silver hurt the economy of Ming China. Document 3, for example, states that the scarcity of the silver coin is what s damaging the harvests. Wang Xijue, a court official, believes there is too much silver being used for taxes, that there is not enough left to care for the plantations. He Qiaoyuan, also a Ming court official, describes how much profit the country could make if it opened up its doors to trade with the Europeans (document 7).
